- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: You gonna rap for us today?
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: That's a beatbox.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Not a very good one.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: No, so we're uh What was your DJ name?
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Mix Master Mighty Red.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I knew red was in there.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I've forgotten the other.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Red on the head, because the hair is red.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Mixmaster Mighty Red.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Short MC Red.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: MC Red.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: It was a lot to say, Mix Master Mighty Red.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Is that a uh sanctioned nickname we can call you?
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Uh sure.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Master MC Red.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, uh I'm sure I my guess is if there's anybody that still has their it was junior high brain, they might still think of me as that.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I wasn't very impactful.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Forgettable in middle school?
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Well, because I did everything I could to be forgettable.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: I tried to blend into every wall I ever saw.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I I feel like that is a staple of that age.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: You're kind of just don't let me get noticed here.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Just let me get by.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: I went to Bruner Junior High in Fort Walton Beach.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: And at that time there were three main hallways, and each hallway had a subculture that was firmly entrenched.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Back then it was surfers, jocks, and we used to call them heads, but that was the Stoners.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: And I got I got stuck in more trash cans in that.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I what I learned is to not, I was a little uh chunky redhead.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: This feels like an easy target.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: This feels like a setup for an 80s uh comedy teen comedy situation.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: First day of junior high uh Max Max Brenner Jr.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: High was standing in the third hallway waiting to go into the class, classroom door wasn't open yet.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And uh this dude, football player, walks up, just grabs me under the arms, picks me up, and just sticks me right in the trash can right next to me.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I I think I said thanks.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Because I wasn't sure I was gonna say anything else.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So kind.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: And the guy just walked off.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I thought, well, that's that's interesting.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: But he thought, well, that's a nice kid thanking me for that.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: If you're attending the church, I'm grateful for those moments.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Is that was that in Destin?
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Is that school still there?
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, it's still there, yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Is it?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Well, I don't know how to transition from that to this, but let's talk about practical faith.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Because what that does is leads to being a pastor.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: That's yeah.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: That's a dream.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: We don't know whether to thank you or to uh you know or or seek you out.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Uh man, so we were this is the third iteration of what we're gonna talk about this week.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And we were gonna be in John 13, and I had a great I had something great planned.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So ready, weren't you?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Dude, because uh this was my wife's idea, give her full credit, but I know how you feel about feet.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I was gonna have a bucket of water that I was gonna pull out here and be like, I thought today we would wash each other's feet.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to see your reaction, but I didn't get to do that.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: You just got part of it.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: That wouldn't happen.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: No?
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: No, I don't it's not that I don't I mean, Jesus washed feet.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: I'd be ready for that.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And then when you said no, we're changing it, I was like, dang it.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Because I heard that spirit told me that that was gonna happen.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And I actually I got an email that it had changed again.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Third time.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Scripture has changed.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I was like, dude, what are we doing here?
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: And and in my Bible study this morning, they were trying to change it a fourth time.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, I think because of the system, the shock to the system.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Let's three's probably enough.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's enough.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: It's enough.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: So, practical faith.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: So Welcome Home series.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Teaching through the values of community live church this week.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: So we value last week, or we value people because God values people.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: We value um uh connection because God is the great connector.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: And we this week we value a practical faith.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And w how that shows up is Jesus, you know, and he did you know he was a pretty good teacher?
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Pretty good.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Pretty good teacher.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Jesus taught in a way that he would use metaphors, parables, sometimes he'd just say it straight to you.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: But it was something that in that drew you in as a someone that was listening, it changed the process of way you thought it was authentic, it was relevant, made sense.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: He was so good that the things he said then, in context then, still make sense today.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: So I'd say pretty good.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: So the way that we think about our messaging on Sundays, youth ministry, children's ministry, on the on the big stage downstairs, is we want to take scripture, which is sometimes difficult, and present it in a way that is practical, relevant, not always easy to understand, but hopefully able to apply to life or move into life.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: That comes from my heart of believing that God wants to be known and that he wants us to be able to live this life.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: So there has to be a practical application of of what we learn.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Is would application be the right connection word on that when you think practical?
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Like practical faith.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying instead of, but to be able to understand the the use of it, I guess, or why it matters, like in in a faith.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't I that's a great question.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: And maybe we got some work to do on this.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Maybe practical faith isn't the exact phrase.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: I think for me, when we when we first put these words down on paper, um, it was it was taking what most people had, the feedback that we had gotten, that people loved Sunday morning messages and how we would work through that and how and the results and how it made sense to them.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Felt like you were just talking directly to me.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: It was practical, the message I could then take and apply to my life.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: So held on to that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Adding faith to it almost seems like you're describing the actual faith, like the faith is practical, so maybe that's incorrect.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: I would say more at this point when I think about it, it it's more informative to me as to how I teach.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna try and look at a section of scripture and say, what are the two or three things that I can find that I can say, hey, look, you can hold on to these, you can understand them, and they're gonna then they can make inroads in your life.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: What is the difference to you between that and transformation?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: What would be like practical application, life, real life, working out my faith versus transformation?
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I think the two are together.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: And I maybe should connect them.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: That was that was the challenge we had in our Bible study this morning, is they were they were viewing practical faith as transformation.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: To me, that's next week's message.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: So we value transformation.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: But but I guess it's the information and the way that we learn it and the way that we grab a hold of it will then ultimately lead to transformation.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: It's the difference between having a list of things to do and having something that changes your heart.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: So the practical faith might be the work that it takes to understand to get it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: It's the difference between an ivory tower and being on the on the ground loving and caring.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: And Jesus didn't just call us from heaven, he came and walked alongside us.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: To me, that's very practical.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: It's like, I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna tell you again, I'm gonna show you again, and then I'm gonna do it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And then I'm gonna say this, and you're not gonna I mean you're the Holy Spirit.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: You're gonna figure it out later.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Or you're later.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: But so I just Jesus, in and of himself, don't misunderstand this, but it's the way that he came to this earth was very practical.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: He put clothes on, he walked alongside us, got his feet dirty, died the death that we die.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, true worse than what we yeah, true humanity.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: God in a bod.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: You ever heard that?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: No, please don't put that on a shirt.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: That would be largely misunderstood.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: All right, especially this bod.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Everything goes on.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Everything doesn't have to go on a shirt.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: It could be a coffee mug or something.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Better not ever.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: That better not ever make it on a shirt.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Well, tell us what scripture we landed on.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Where are we gonna be as of right now?
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: We're right in the middle of the Sermon on the Mount.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna be in Matthew chapter six, and we're gonna pick up our sermon on in verse 19.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: But that's mid-sermon for Jesus.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: All right, so Jesus is a quick setup.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: This is 100% maybe, so trying to give you information.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Sermon on the Mount is many chapters long, tons of topics, everything from spiritual faith and practices to natural progression in life and how you're gonna live this out to you've heard it said this, will I say this, a reshaping of the law.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: So the Sermon on the Mount is this wide-ranging sermon that's almost insurmountable when you think about trying to sit and digest it all.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: So what it's done is it's it's caused biblical scholars to wonder if it was actually delivered in one setting.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: And so I'm not trying to blow up anybody's brain and say, well, oh, the Bible says it.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: That's absolutely what happened.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Or did Matthew take all of the topics that Jesus taught on and collate them together?
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Is that the word?
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Put them together in a um into one sermon.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Because he probably taught many sermons on the mount and he probably used all of these topics.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: So to put them together maybe made sense more in a literary sense.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: One half dozen or the other doesn't really matter.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Uh, half dozen or the other doesn't really matter.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: He put them all together for us to be able to see.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: And so for me, us dropping into the middle of it really serves two purposes.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Number one, there's a point in what he says.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna teach it.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about the actual point of what he says.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: But from this perspective, a practical faith, I want us to look at more than just the point.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: I want us to consider how Jesus teaches it, how he engages us, what is it he's asking us to do?
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Right, not not do this, this, this, like that process of working through what he says is so masterful.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: Because he didn't just say, hey guys, here's a sheet of paper, do these five things, you're good.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Engages in a thought process.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Is that more of a is that a to-do list or here's where the lines are, don't do this, don't cross these.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Is that a more digestible faith to us versus really having to wrestle with questions and uh maybe motivations of our heart?
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: I I would say it's more effective.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: So there's the difference between um oh, how do you say this?
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: You can have somebody who you're leading that you're teaching and training, and and they can take what you've given them and they might, they're gonna blend it into who they are and their own skills and they're gonna make it something incredible, versus somebody who's like, just tell me what you want me to do.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: So what I I would and they're and there are people that are listening that are exactly that way.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: They're like, I just want to know what to do.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: I would challenge you to get outside of that box because Jesus is not just trying to engage us in a do these things, you'll be fine, because we are the church here on earth that is to represent God to the world, and that takes engagement and thought and leadership and ability.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: So he's not just saying, Hey, here's the five things, go do those, and I don't, you know, don't bother me.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Or or you'll be fine.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: He's saying, Here, I want you to process where your heart is, think about where it is, and then uh make moves accordingly.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Do you have you ever struggled with some of the teaching elements?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I had conversations the last couple weeks.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: People that are they think more linear, they think way more literal.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: So they struggle with parables, with metaphors.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: It's like it maybe sounds I it's like you I can't go against Jesus teaches this way, so you almost feel bad saying I don't like this because I don't get it as much.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Is have you ever wrestled with just the work it takes to start to dig and unpeel these layers of metaphor sometimes?
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: A hundred percent.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes it is like just what are you saying here?
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And there's nothing wrong with that, but I I think now, first of all, some of that's gonna be personality or or learning styles.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: So like I gotta under I think we all have to understand that we're all gonna learn differently, we're all gonna read things differently.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: But I believe the church has not done a good job in holding these well, right?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Like we we are guilty of trying to get parables to say things that they never were intended to say, right?
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Like, oh, we're gonna talk about grass being thrown in the fire and burned.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: People are like, oh, he's talking about that's hell.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: That's hell.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: And it Jesus would probably go, wait, what?
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: No, what?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: What are you talking about?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: No, I'm giving I'm I'm letting you know I care about you more than this grass that's gonna be rolled up and thrown in away and burned away.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: I'm not telling you we're gonna throw you away and burn.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: That's not right, but so but the way we've been taught to hold scripture doesn't allow us to think about the context and the actual fact that Jesus was a teacher that was delivering message to people who would go, Yeah, we don't really even think about that grass.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be gone tomorrow.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we should probably think this that we are of more value than that.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: So I to your point, I sit with a lot of people that will take a parable and they'll try to take their very existence and mash it into a parable, and they're like, but what about this?
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, that's no, don't don't do that.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Don't do that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: He wouldn't want you to do that.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he wants you to process and think.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Uh when we were in the parable of the lost things, lost sheep, lost coin, lost son.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Some people get stuck in one of the three and they try to shape the heart of the father as, well, in the parable of the son, he didn't didn't pursue, he didn't go after the son that was in another country.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: So God's waiting for me to come back.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: But go to man, in the first parad, but you gotta look at all three of them together.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: When the first sheep wanders off, he goes and he gets it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: And the second one, he he goes to a greater, turns lights on, sweeps the house, goes to great expense to find this one coin that the world didn't think had great value.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: But the point was it had great value to him.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: So in all of that, you can't just take one little snapshot.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: That's uh my other core belief, is that scripture interprets scripture.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: You can't just narrow down into one thought.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: You got to get the heart of God, you have to understand it.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: It's a big answer, but I I think that that'll tell you how I how I look at it.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, that's what I wanted.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, perfect.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to move people around and to see things differently in these parables.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Or metaphors.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: I I've always too, I don't I'm one, I don't I can sit and ponder.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I that's a lot of what I do.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: So I enjoy it because I I do think they're so rich.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: You find different things at different times and and completely understand different elements of it too.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: And uh and probably change what you thought was one thing over time that that you kind of hits you a different way.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: So it's it's I resonate with that of of how it really does cause you to dig in inward and and flesh out what you truly believe, not just maybe how you behave or why you behave, how you behave because of what you believe and things that you don't you wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: And which to me is the process, right?
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: So that's the that to me is the practical nature of I'm gonna be somewhere different tomorrow.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: So the things that I learn between here and there I need to take and and bring to bear on my faith.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: And I think Jesus is trying to engage people who can who can garner the heart of God for the things that are in front of us while also understanding we're not gonna be perfect in that.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: So some of that's in here too.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: That's a big qualifier.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: It's a process.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: So, anyways, back up.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: I could talk about that all day.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: So we're jump right into it.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: 19.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Matthew 6, 19.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna have to be careful to not teach this whole thing today.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: But let's go.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: So it's about concerning treasures.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Treasures here on earth.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Let me read I'll just read this.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe we can use this as one example.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And then and let's do this, Jeff, for fun.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Because we're trying we're yes, the point, the main point.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: But then let's also look at the pitfalls that happen in the way that we've been taught or the way that uh churches have maybe dealt with this.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: So 19 through 21.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And then he gives you the point.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: So He gives us the point, and it's about where he's giving us the ability to assess where our heart is, and he connects our heart to the things we value.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think that's rocket science, right?
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: I don't think that's rocket science.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: So he says, where your heart is, there your treasure will be also.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: But I so you can flip that over.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: So um you could also say where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Addie had this wonderful, wonderful example of uh of in in her the a bear had come through the neighborhood and knocked her trash can over and stuff was spilled out all on the street.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: And while she was cleaning up, she thought, I don't know that I'd want everybody in this neighborhood to see how rough of a week I had.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Just some of the things that she's throwing back in the trash can.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: But the same thing is true for me.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: When we used to have bears in our neighborhood, um, they had come through and wiped out all of the cans on our street.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: And so I walk early in the morning.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: So I'd gotten some rubber gloves the next time I go to my house.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: And so I started throwing back in there.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: I thought, you know, I don't know if if people want me to know that it was a, you know, a two-case of beer week.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: You really get to know someone by going through the trash.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: But, you know, when the when the when the top is ripped off, you can see not where the treasure is.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: That's a funny kind of way to think about it, but you start to see where the mind is, where the heart is, has been good week or bad week.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: You find out about your heart when things go south, where the treasure is.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: We had some conversation this morning about a hur about hurricanes.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: When the hurricanes come in, you grab the things that are of most value.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Hopefully you grab your family, right?
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Probably grab the pet.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Uh somebody in here talked about how they grab their Bibles.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Maybe grab some true valuables because but you need those for, you know, for stuff that maybe get lost or whatever.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: But you you start to figure out where that value is.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So why do you think he would say this to them?
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: Why would he why would this matter?
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: To this audience?
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: To this audience.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Was it because they were piling up a bunch of wealth?
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: Probably not.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: So why is he doing it?
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: Because he's talking he's in he's in Capernaum.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: This is not a super wealthy place.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: The people he's ministering to, there's some that are there that are wealthy, but aren't super wealthy people, so why would he say this?
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Well, I don't know if I have a good answer with just the I think it builds on itself.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: I think he's making a bigger, greater point here.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: But I would say investing in he he's coming to establish kingdom, I think.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So investing in the things of God, when you put that investment there, your heart is gonna be attached to those things as well.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: And I think what you value shapes how you see everything else.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and and if your heart is the core of is what you value, and that's where your heart is, and the heart was the core of your being, that's what they thought of, that's how they believed it, then what you value is gonna be where so if you're and he gives you the comparison, heaven or earth, are you gonna allow your heart to be anchored in things of the earth or in things of heaven?
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: And um, and I think this is not a salvation message, although it could be, you could probably look at that.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: It's really a if we're gonna talk about the practical practical nature of life going forward, if I sit with I could sit with two different families on one on one particular day when that have lost loved ones, and I can tell you in 30 seconds which one has valued the eternal things and which ones have valued the things on earth.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: One family will be caving in and catastrophic and just really struggling because they are lost without hope, versus the ones who understand the process of life and are hurting and walking through grief and carrying those things, not perfectly, but there's a different peace that happens in there.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: So for me, Jesus is asking us to make an assessment as to what we value, and it will tell us where our heart is anchored.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna value the eternal things?
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna value things that are temporal?
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: What we've done, so here's the problems for me, is we've, as a church, have not our church, but the church has caused people to go, store up treasure in heaven.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna we've taken our very literal care for monetary things and said, okay, I'm just gonna move that thought into heaven.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: So what do I have to do so that when I get there, I got money to spend?
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: See how that, but that's a natural jump because we haven't taught people how to think.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: He's trying to get us to value the eternal nature of heaven and the things that heaven values.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: And that's the true value, right?
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: It shows up in our lives here.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: So that when the eternal collapses, which we're promised it's gonna be, we're gonna show up in that when the non-eternal or the temporary, then we're gonna show up in an eternal way.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: That that to me is the better understanding of that verse.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Is this when you say Jesus dollars are not a real thing?
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Jesus dollars are not a real thing.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: They're not.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: So if I've given you a bunch, it was metaphorically speaking, it means absolutely nothing.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Although I have a thousand dollar Jesus dollar on my desk.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Still can't get me gonna take it.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: What are you gonna do with that?
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna keep it on my desk because until the moths and rust destroy it.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: That's right, it's gonna go away.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: But but um, yeah.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: That that's that was good, Jeff.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: That's you got me there.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Jim Bell hates Jesus dollars for this exact reason, because the theology.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: So what's kind of a a funny moment of levity, it does become maybe the point.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: It does become, perhaps, depending on what you've experienced or been taught, it a different meaning.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Or that maybe even just subliminally that's in there, like, ooh, I do need to set myself up for the future up there.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: So I better do some stuff.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I want a mansion.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: I want a mansion in the sky.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I think we fail to realize that then is now, and I'm not, I'm not trying to be anything crazy.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: There is a heaven and there is a life after this life, but you're living a spiritual life now.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: You can bring those that those things into your life now.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: So don't think you're just heaping them up over there.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: You're using that, those things of value that you have here today.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Week one, people.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: We value people.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: So, you know, the spending time with loving, caring, showing things to people that that are really truly revealing God, those are the things of value that that God values and that we that we lean into.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe this is gonna take us way off track, but I think I think it connects a little bit with that mentality that maybe we have because there is this teaching, maybe it's drilled in us, maybe it came from what we experienced as uh what what what's gonna happen to you when you die type of teaching.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: To to put the weight of it on you about your life matters and what you do matters, what you believe matters.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: But I wonder too, when I read scripture, it doesn't seem to be as central of an issue for the people that Jesus is interacting with as far as good point.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: It it's I think you covered a lot of it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: It really mattered what the decisions they made for life today and how then now his kingdom love and kingdom on earth, not kingdom for one day future far away, but their radical new way of living that is actually caring for others.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: It's if you have a need, uh somebody else might can meet that need.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: If you can meet a need for somebody else, then do that.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: It showed up in the here and now, right?
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: And so it sometimes contradicts with this whole heaven and hell mentality.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: If I'm a good person, do good things, going to heaven.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: If I'm not, I'm going to hell.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Is that from, do you think how the church has handled some of these things and made and wanted to make it, we gotta make a decision right now.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: So what's it gonna be?
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Versus this really inward introspection of like, hey, what is what do you believe in your heart?
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: What do you believe about this?
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: 1000%, right?
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: So I'll I'll pick that up in a second, but just go to in this sermon, he said, you've heard it said, do not commit adultery.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: But I say, don't even lust after a woman in your heart, right?
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: Or you've or you've committed sin.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: He was in their culture combating the theology that had created to them that, well, at least if I don't have sex with another woman, I'm fine, but I can think whatever I want to about her.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: And Jesus is like, it's polluting your heart and it's polluting how you're showing up in the world and how you're treating your family and treating your wife.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: So he's dealing with the theology of the day.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Between the time of Jesus and now, we've gone through the prosperity gospel, you know, the name it and claim it.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Um just just go through all of the different seasons when we attached, when we attached value to uh um the the televangelists in the 80s, right?
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Money became something that now of a sudden we're just gonna move it from this side on to the next side, right?
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Giving away and you're gonna get it.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Uh and it pay for your blessings.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Pay for your blessings.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: Like this, there's this even swap.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: That's which is as far from anything that you could ever see here.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: So the the theology that we're combating today is different than the theology they have there, but the truth is still the same.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: That's why I love what Jesus has done.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: If we're gonna get to the practical faith, he gives us the ability to assess where our heart is.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: So the theology has changed, but he's still saying heaven and earth, where your tr where your treasure is, there your heart's gonna be, where's your treasure?
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Where's your treasure?
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Go go sort it out.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: If if people walked into my office at my house, they would think my treasure was in dead things.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: Uh deer horns and fish and fly fishing and all those different things.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: That's, you know, if without the rest of the narrative, they'd realize that that's my that's not my happy place.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: That's my therapy.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: Like I spend my that's my therapy that's there.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: But they would also see stacks and volumes of of you know biblical insights, all the books that are in there, the scripture.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: So they'd be like, man, this is a torn person that's that's doing battle right here at this desk.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: So I think you you look at those values and and um and it and it starts to reveal something that's there.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it's that simple, it's also that profound.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: And so then to not not to fully take away the whole sermon, because we're gonna do all this work and it's short enough that we could get there, but he talks about the treasure, then he talks about the eye.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: So if you if you can assess where your heart is, the eye is the lens by which you feed that thing, or you make assessments.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: So if he says, if your eye is not clear, then it's darkness or there's no light, helps us to realize our perspective in life and how that's gonna shape that.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: Once again, you can lead your ability to to make a decision to do something different.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Uh serving two masters, that's back to the am I gonna serve this world or am I gonna serve God?
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: And there are people that I know that have a foot in both worlds, and then they are torn and ripped right into.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and he's and he's clear about how that works out.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Then finally, my favorite chapter in the whole Bible, which is about do not worry.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: This is this is where I struggle.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Uh because I'm constantly ripping out of God's hands what's God's to bel to hold on to.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Um, but it makes sense.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Assess where your heart is, assess how you're viewing things, realize that you can't be in both worlds.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: You have to make a decision on that, and then don't worry about it.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: Handle the things that are in front of you, and then allow God to take care of the rest.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: It is a process by which God is, a very practical process by which God has given us.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Our hope in this message is not to say, here's a nice, neat way for you to go live life.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: It's to say, dive into the Bible, understand the way that Jesus taught, do the work in a practical sense to understand.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: He's trying to give us a message to think, to navigate through the messages.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: And don't you think you constantly have to be measuring your life against these things?
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Constant.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: I hope we are.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I think last time you gave the definition of anxiety of that unnecessary worrier.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: It's it's basically some translations would even say a divided mind.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: So things that unnecessarily cause you this care that you shouldn't be.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: So it again, it's not saying you shouldn't care about anything.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: You don't want to go to work today, don't go to work today.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: It's that's not the message.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: The message is give to God what is God's, and you just worry about the things you have control over and the things that only He controls.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: You have you have to give up control of that.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: How does so if we go treasure eye and also that the good eye and the Jewish understanding was another understanding for generosity and being generous?
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: So treasure the eye, anxiety or money and possessions leads us to him saying, Don't worry about this, but seek the kingdom of God.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: So, what how do we do that?
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: How does one seek the kingdom first?
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: And what does that mean?
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, also remember their theology was if you've got the money, then you've got the blessing, right?
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: Like the money came with the not, excuse me, the blessing brought the money.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: So a very literal definition in their understanding is if a person is wealthy, then clearly God has blessed this person.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: I I think he's re he's reconstituting their ability to understand that there's a kingdom to be pursued, not those other things.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: So, um, so so per so seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added onto you.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: I I think he's actually giving them there, maybe there's your list.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: Without a, hey, go do this, this, and this.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Seek first the kingdom.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: You still have to go in and do the work as to what the kingdom was.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: You know, and kingdom is not there, right?
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, once again, he's not talking about seek first heaven.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Although you go back into it, he's got a little bit of it there.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: He's like, seek first kingdom and his righteousness, and all of this other stuff's gonna be added there.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: So what's kingdom?
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: He's been he's been teaching about this this life and a God that wants to be known and how you can pray, how you can fast, how you can love God and love your neighbor, and and so it starts to paint Jesus Jesus' narrative was to was to present this ability to to see the kingdom come.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: As on earth as it is in heaven, like just that's the prayer that he prayed there.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: So it's a follow-up to the to what he said in the earlier on in it.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: Loving for, caring for people.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Um I don't know.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he Jesus brought the kingdom to us on earth.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: And allows us that connection to to it at all.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: How does generosity shape how we see people or the world around us?
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: Um, well, I I think it's at the very core.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I I when I think of generosity, I think of wider than giving money.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: I think of the heart by which you you show up in this world.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: So if we're gonna look at For God So Loved the World That He Gave, it's a pretty generous heart, right?
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: So generosity shows up in how we we arrive in a scenario.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: If I wanna if I wanna see kingdom come, there is the assessment of God.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: What is it you would say here?
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: What's going on here?
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: And I don't know that we live in that way where every single room you walk into and every single process, but I do think it's important that daily we're saying, hey, God, give shape to this day.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: And as you create that heart in you, then you walk into a scenario and and could you imagine if God had a bunch of agents in this world that he could just turn loose to go accomplish the things that were there?
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: To me, that's a generous heart.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: It's it's giving God all that we are and the ability to lead us in in in living that life.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: Not maybe.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: 100% for real.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I um I don't know.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna end on a tough one.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: You you got a tough question coming?
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: Oh boy.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: You ready?
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Uh come on.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: If we if we end up where it lands, so he's talking about he attaches it to things of value, money and possessions, things that we can understand, connect to.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: What is how do you know if having is different than being mastered by?
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Because he does, I think a big key thing, and uh not to take away from Sunday, but is you you can't be master of both.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: So great question.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: That distinction of being mastered by versus okay, you know, it's not wrong to have money.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: You got you, you know, have resources, or you've done really well in business, or you've, you know, your great grandfather did really well in business.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, those things are are not bad, they're not evil, they're not wrong.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: But how how then do we start to unpack what am I being mastered by?
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't I don't know that you're gonna like the answer, but I think that's why it's important that he doesn't just give us a list because I think it's an assessment and I think it's an ongoing assessment, right?
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: I I think if because because you don't know what you don't know.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: So if you're being mastered by something, sometimes you don't know it until something happens and you go, ooh, I don't like how I responded in that scenario.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: But that's only if you're doing an assessment.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: There are people in our lives where you're just like, dude, you've got a problem with that.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: And they're like, no.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: What are you talking about?
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: I mean, I needed$7,000 worth of fly fishing stuff.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: My my family needs to go on a diet, anyways, right?
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: Like, so, so, you know, that's never happened, by the way.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Not this week.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: Um, but but I I think the as uh the assessment piece is important.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Which, man, if I forget this on a Sunday, write it down, hold on to it.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Jesus wasn't trying to build mindless believers.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: He was trying to teach us how to work through theology and process so that we could look at our life and we could do this.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: I I'll give you an example, and I don't know if this is a direct correlation, but let me try to talk it out, verbal processor.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Um I was telling my guys in my Bible study that up until the beginning of this series, as I've struggled, you know, in in not struggled in my role, but uh preachers have this phrase Sunday's always coming.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Sunday's always coming.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: I would get off stage on a Sunday after, I mean, I could preach the best message in my life.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: 3,000 were saved.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: 3,000 were saved.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: You know, and you're shaking hands, you're loving on people, and then in the back of your mind, oh, next week's message.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, you're only as good as what you can, and and I there was this this uh Tam and I knew this worship leader that used to say, you're only as good as this Sunday, right?
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, you could have the greatest Sunday, but people that's the short-term memory, they forget it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: So I had gotten to a place to where there was almost a sense of dread for me coming off of the stage.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: I'd be so excited about this message that we got out there, and then I'd be like, uh.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: And there's a very thin line between the dread of carrying that message and the responsibility of carrying that message.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: And I'd started to lose my joy.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: So I would tell you that me switching scriptures three times this week tells you that, man, I I'm so excited about what's uh about that responsibility again.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Like I feel like I had lost my sense of what it meant to be a leader in some ways.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: And man, that's that's been coming back over the last week, couple weeks in ways that are showing up on stage.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Um So how do you know?
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: I I I s I think sometimes you don't know.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: But that's why Jesus engages us, he engages our hearts, he engages our minds.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: We're constantly plumbing the depths of our heart and know that you're gonna you're gonna do that and you're gonna go, ooh, I don't like what I see there, and it's gonna take some time to get to a different place.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Any theology that's telling you different is patently wrong.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Um is that an answer?
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: That's an answer.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: It wasn't anywhere close.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, I don't I don't have to.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: I don't try to lead terrible hit one.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: I would be a terrible attorney.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: I do not have leading questions, you know.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: So maybe the main point for me, if if if uh we value practical faith, uh we value practical faith is is that I I would say that I think starting from the baseline that God wants to be known.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: I think God also wants us to be able to process and and live according to the life that he's called us to, even though we're incapable in a perfect way.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: I think there's that desire that he has, so he's given us the ability to understand that we're created in the image of God, so there's gonna be a residue in us that is able to grab these truths and hold on to them.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: So if you're looking for a list, I don't know that that's exactly maybe necessarily Jesus is Jesus is trying to engage your your heart in this process.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Not a list, but the maybe warning signs or just, you know, the things to to pay attention to.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: But I think you spoke to it.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: You have you have to constantly be doing that work.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: One one thing that has been true for me is you do that work on your own, it's almost working backwards.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: You have that work has to be done with the Lord.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a thousand percent.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: And and he speaks through his word.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: And if you don't think that's true, this is I think the third episode we've done on this scripture in the last 12 months, and they've all three been different.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: Wildly different.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, when you said that to me, you uh we were texting this morning, he's like, You just taught on that.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't even remember that.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because because uh we're looking at it differently.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: You told me how I defined anxious or whatever it was.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: I don't even remember that.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: I'll have to go back and look at it.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: That was pretty good.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: Um, so I was good.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: We have we have taught through it totally different way to look at it.
- 38:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's the beauty of scripture.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: It is, it shows you just proof that it is alive and active and meets you right where you are, yeah, for sure.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, awesome, man.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: I appreciate you.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: I appreciate it.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: Heck yeah.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: We get to do this.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: So week three, welcome home.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: Hope y'all are settling into routine and getting back in.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: We've seen so many uh faces and kiddos, and youth schedule is cranking, it's doing awesome.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: So there are people everywhere.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we got Welcome Home tonight.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: So this will come out after Welcome Home.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: So hope we saw you last night.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, hope we saw you last night.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: But uh, y'all have a great week, and we will see y'all Sunday.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: All right, love you.
