- 0:00Speaker 1: What is going on? Everybody? Welcome to Strikeout Beer, your

- 0:06Speaker 1: your pals on Rapi Dave and Repi Day. I'm Alan somebody.
- 0:09Speaker 2: What's going on? Chilling?
- 0:10Speaker 1: Chilling? Yeah, we got a little soapro. The sun is yum.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It's Southern Prohibition brewing out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
- 0:17Speaker 2: That's correct, That is correct. Five percent abv NA lager. Yeah.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Tasting notes according to the brewery copper colored light, freddie
- 0:29Speaker 2: malt character slight, honey, sweetness, clean, crisp, finish. So here
- 0:37Speaker 2: we go and we'll get into GPT has predicted what
- 0:42Speaker 2: our scores would be on a scale one to ten
- 0:44Speaker 2: in five four categories and the overall.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Well that's how you know it's wrong, because we never
- 0:49Speaker 1: go to ten.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You'll do maybe maybe, you know, up the scores, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 2: I said, Okay, hold on, let me get at.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Jesus anyway. All right, that's quite bratty, yeah, quite bready.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You see that little off color, off white color. Oh
- 1:10Speaker 1: that is copper, boy, that copper.
- 1:12Speaker 2: The appearance should be clear amber slash copper with a
- 1:15Speaker 2: white head.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's kindle.
- 1:17Speaker 2: The aroma toasted bread crusts like caramel and subtle. Honey,
- 1:29Speaker 2: that's pretty good.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I had it. When I went there. I was like,
- 1:32Speaker 1: let me get let me, let me try this. I
- 1:34Speaker 1: think I had Like all right, So we went to
- 1:37Speaker 1: the beach, right, went to Alabama, and I was like,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm not driving because I was towing two extra people
- 1:42Speaker 1: with me and two different cars. Right, so we're three cars.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You were towing the cars.
- 1:47Speaker 1: They were in toe with me though they were behind me,
- 1:49Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff.
- 1:49Speaker 2: They were following.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, uh man, we're all three of them.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Find me all the way out there?
- 1:55Speaker 1: No, no, no, you know what?
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so they all went, Okay, I'm confused. I'm
- 1:59Speaker 1: confused anyway. So yeah, so we're three cars, two people each,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and we were rolling out there, and so I didn't
- 2:04Speaker 1: want to make the It's only like nine and a
- 2:06Speaker 1: half hour drive to Alabama to the Gulf Shores, and
- 2:09Speaker 1: I was like, just break it up, man, six and
- 2:12Speaker 1: a half hours right there Hattiesburg. Boom, I go. There's
- 2:15Speaker 1: a breweries. Actually, I was like, there's a couple of
- 2:16Speaker 1: breweries out there we can go to on Sunday. They
- 2:20Speaker 1: all close at four. Oh yeah, everything closed like this
- 2:24Speaker 1: Mississippi is.
- 2:25Speaker 2: A weird state though, because, like I remember, so I
- 2:31Speaker 2: went to Lazy Magnolia in Mississippi. It's a Mississippi and
- 2:37Speaker 2: it's the oldest brewery there and they have no that's
- 2:42Speaker 2: the Southern peakan okay, okay, And they opened up in
- 2:48Speaker 2: like the two thousands. So Mississippi was late to the
- 2:52Speaker 2: whole crapperery scene because of just because of their laws,
- 2:56Speaker 2: like their laws are in Mississippi are a little a
- 2:58Speaker 2: little funky, little funky gotchat. Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So yeah, So we I was like we left, I
- 3:04Speaker 1: didn't have to leave super early. I was like, well, lea,
- 3:06Speaker 1: you've had a decent time, we'll roll out. There was
- 3:08Speaker 1: slow roll out there anyway. So we get there about
- 3:10Speaker 1: like three o'clock, so we had like an hour. You know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's on the corner. It's another downtown kind of esque place,
- 3:16Speaker 1: not the heart of downtown, but just like a little
- 3:18Speaker 1: bit of the outskirts there. Really cool, really cool bro
- 3:23Speaker 1: they had like when you first walk in, they had
- 3:24Speaker 1: like an old timey looking room, a bunch of fancy chairs.
- 3:28Speaker 1: They had a picture from What's Ghostbusters to the picture
- 3:31Speaker 1: of the painting that comes a live Vigo yep, And
- 3:36Speaker 1: so they had it and you could tell it it's slid.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So there was another hidden thing behind it. And I
- 3:41Speaker 1: was like, as I'm walking out, I'm messing with it.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But anyways, I didn't want the demons or something to
- 3:45Speaker 1: come out of there. Anyway, roll in really nice. It
- 3:48Speaker 1: looks like a speakeasy feel, you know, it's got that vibe.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I have someone playing in the piano.
- 3:52Speaker 1: No, I mean there was a piano I think in
- 3:54Speaker 1: the front room where that thing was, but I didn't
- 3:56Speaker 1: want to. I didn't go in there because we had
- 3:57Speaker 1: the dog. We're gonna stay outside. You know. The patios
- 4:00Speaker 1: rock and picnic tables was shade citronella candles and stuff
- 4:05Speaker 1: like that. So we just let a citronella candle. Everybody's
- 4:08Speaker 1: like standing up around the table a little bit, having
- 4:09Speaker 1: a drink and joining ourselves or whatnot. We can order
- 4:11Speaker 1: straight from the what the QR code, order a little
- 4:15Speaker 1: bit of food, a couple little sharebles, and then got
- 4:17Speaker 1: the rounds of beer coming. You know, really good service,
- 4:20Speaker 1: really nice people out there. Beer tenders were great and
- 4:24Speaker 1: the beer was great. I did have a couple of
- 4:25Speaker 1: different types of beer, and Lizzie, of course, you went
- 4:28Speaker 1: the hazy route and then uh, those have like light
- 4:31Speaker 1: logger or something like that, and then I think ended
- 4:33Speaker 1: up coming across this one too. I was like, I've
- 4:34Speaker 1: had it for a while, Like you like a nice
- 4:36Speaker 1: longer I do, and Vienna style it's this to me,
- 4:40Speaker 1: a Vienna style lagger is a little bit later in
- 4:42Speaker 1: the season, right, It's it's almost pushing into it's either
- 4:45Speaker 1: early spring or late summer.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Well, you always order it, then you end up disappointing
- 4:50Speaker 2: because you expect to get the sausages in it, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: then you get no sausages. They're like, what the hell?
- 4:54Speaker 1: I figured they'd be stuffed in there all the day around.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And then the beer was you fill up the juice obviously,
- 5:00Speaker 1: but uh but anyway, really good. I was like, all right,
- 5:04Speaker 1: So when I'm leaving, I'm asking. I was like, there's
- 5:06Speaker 1: between that one and another. I think it was that
- 5:08Speaker 1: hazy or something one. It was the six pack down
- 5:10Speaker 1: it was a four pack. I was like, what do
- 5:12Speaker 1: you recommend out of these? You know whatever, and she's like, oh,
- 5:15Speaker 1: the sun is young for sure. I was like for
- 5:17Speaker 1: real and she's like, yeah, yeah, it's so much better.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I was like, all right, save me some money, appreciate it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And so the sun Is Gum is a four pack, Okay,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it can cost a whole lot. Uh though it on
- 5:25Speaker 1: because I had had a cooler going anyway, so threw
- 5:27Speaker 1: it on the on ice and rolled back. But uh yeah, dude,
- 5:31Speaker 1: really cool brewery. And uh yeah, it's I like the
- 5:34Speaker 1: vibe down there. She relaxed, laid back, but I did
- 5:37Speaker 1: like that speakeasy feel and that's it. That's kind of
- 5:39Speaker 1: what it gave me.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Was like you can see this place and be hopping
- 5:42Speaker 2: at certain certain times, you know whatever. But yeah, back
- 5:45Speaker 2: in the prohibition era, oh god, and so they call
- 5:47Speaker 2: themselves so pro now, okay, at a Southern prohibition Okay,
- 5:50Speaker 2: all right. So while you were talking, when I looked up, like,
- 5:54Speaker 2: so Lazy Magnolia, the oldest one in Mississippi opened up
- 5:57Speaker 2: in two thousand and five. Okay, so yeah they are
- 6:01Speaker 2: very late. And it's just I remember being there at
- 6:04Speaker 2: Lazy Magnolia and being like, you guys are the oldest
- 6:06Speaker 2: one here and you've been since two thousand and five.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They're like, dude, it's the whole scene here is crazy.
- 6:11Speaker 2: He's like, we're even regulated now with a lot of
- 6:14Speaker 2: the stuff that they do. Oh, I bet, and this
- 6:15Speaker 2: was I mean, gosh, this was back before COVID.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know, I don't know how long they've been here,
- 6:20Speaker 1: but this is casual beer bar with outdoor seating, offered
- 6:23Speaker 1: familiar eats and signature brews, plus wine, cocktails and spirits.
- 6:27Speaker 1: They had a full bar okay or whatever you want.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It wasn't just like it, which is kind of cool.
- 6:30Speaker 1: They they're classified technically as like a brew pub, I
- 6:32Speaker 1: think is what they're called. They're over there three oh
- 6:37Speaker 1: one Mobile Street, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Now they are closed two
- 6:40Speaker 1: days a week, Monday and Tuesday. Rest of the time,
- 6:42Speaker 1: they're open Wednesday three to ten and then eleven to
- 6:46Speaker 1: ten Friday, Saturday, eleven to four on Sundays.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah. So they opened up in twenty thirteen. Oh cool.
- 6:53Speaker 2: In twenty sixteen, they helped push legislation allowing limited on
- 6:58Speaker 2: site beer sales in Mississippi brewers, so they weren't even
- 7:01Speaker 2: able to sell beer on site till twenty sixteen. Twenty
- 7:05Speaker 2: seventeen they opened up their public tap room nice and
- 7:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two, they expanded into a
- 7:10Speaker 2: full restaurant and bar after additional changes to Mississippi law
- 7:15Speaker 2: allowing them to serve food, wine, and liquor alongside their beer.
- 7:18Speaker 1: There you go, and that's what most of their you
- 7:21Speaker 1: hear about. You look at their reviews. Good food, the
- 7:23Speaker 1: atmosphere and the service are great and so that I mean,
- 7:27Speaker 1: couldn't agree more. Liked it over there. I was ready
- 7:29Speaker 1: to hang out there all night, but they just like
- 7:31Speaker 1: I said, I knew they closed it for so I
- 7:32Speaker 1: found another place to go to, which was another outdoor
- 7:35Speaker 1: area just to kind of watch soccer and have some
- 7:38Speaker 1: beers and go. Oh man, I'll tell you what is nice,
- 7:40Speaker 1: A lot of fun. So highly recommend you want to
- 7:43Speaker 1: finish this off? And they give our score? Do you
- 7:44Speaker 1: want to give ours scores?
- 7:45Speaker 2: Now?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Well, get I'm want to give you so so jet
- 7:49Speaker 1: chat chepe, I want you to.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I want you to predict the scores that chat GPT
- 7:55Speaker 2: said we would give it, okay, first one appearance out
- 7:59Speaker 2: of ten.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Out of ten eight, so it'd be what four out
- 8:02Speaker 1: of five? Well, I'm saying eight.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Eight, eight and a half.
- 8:05Speaker 1: All right, all right, all right, all right here we
- 8:07Speaker 1: go aroma ooh seven and a half eight another eight
- 8:12Speaker 1: and eight?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Oh I go eight and a half and an eight flavor,
- 8:17Speaker 2: seven and a half, eight and a half, damn it?
- 8:19Speaker 2: What the drinkability? Eight and a half nine point five.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I actually agree with that too.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It's it's pretty damn tasty overall, and it gave a rein. Okay,
- 8:34Speaker 2: after all that, I'm gonna say eight and a half,
- 8:36Speaker 2: eight and a half to nine, okay, Jesus, is what
- 8:38Speaker 2: it predicted. This is a bank this I mean, but
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's year we say it's about. But do you disagree
- 8:44Speaker 2: it is?
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's actually really good? I mean we do. If we
- 8:47Speaker 1: do give it a number, it's usually one between one
- 8:50Speaker 1: and five, right.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Because that's when we go off the untapped score.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so I would say for me, it's like a three, seven, five,
- 8:56Speaker 1: two of four, which would not really line up with
- 8:58Speaker 1: what they're saying. It's a really good beer. I love
- 9:01Speaker 1: the style, I love the flavor. It looked great, smell great,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and perfect carbonation. But yeah, it's you know what, I'll say,
- 9:07Speaker 1: a four how about?
- 9:08Speaker 2: But I would also say, like so if you're I
- 9:11Speaker 2: think if you score a beer on a scale to
- 9:15Speaker 2: one to five, and you give a beer three out
- 9:18Speaker 2: of five, if you were to score it on a
- 9:21Speaker 2: scale to one to ten, you wouldn't give it a six.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You'd probably say six and a half to seven.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you'd get closer to that seven. Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 2: you know, just because it's it's a wider range of numbers, right,
- 9:33Speaker 2: So it's not always gonna be right. It's not gonna
- 9:37Speaker 2: be like, well I give it a I give this
- 9:38Speaker 2: beer a two, so now I give it a four. No,
- 9:41Speaker 2: that's that's not how it sounds better than yeah, or
- 9:45Speaker 2: I give a Speer one, so now I give it
- 9:46Speaker 2: a two. No, No, I'm probably still going to give
- 9:48Speaker 2: it like a one in that case. Right.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I used to watch or whatever on Sundays. It would
- 9:52Speaker 1: be doing like a live beer reviews and stuff like that.
- 9:55Speaker 1: But they did zero to four. Okay, they wouldn't do
- 9:58Speaker 1: a five. They were like either z ye ow, you're
- 10:00Speaker 1: dumping it or you're for you can't have enough, you
- 10:02Speaker 1: know whatever.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I was like, I don't dump anything.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why I don't know. I don't subscribe to
- 10:08Speaker 1: that kind of theory, like will I ever have it
- 10:10Speaker 1: again if I get it in my hands?
- 10:12Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I mean I'm just saying, you know, there's been only
- 10:16Speaker 1: been like two beers that I've ever like. We had
- 10:18Speaker 1: to pour out one and we told the fruit one
- 10:20Speaker 1: it was.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It was it wasn't proof correct.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was pulled off the truck.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah it was a bad.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Speaking of.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I'm aware. You don't have to keep like. We gotta
- 10:35Speaker 2: get it.
- 10:35Speaker 1: We gotta get him back on anyone. Yeah he's brow again. Yeah,
- 10:42Speaker 1: damn good beer. Had a great time out there. That's
- 10:45Speaker 1: two thumbs up.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Thumbs up for sure on this one. Definitely enjoy it.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Have you guys had this before? Do you even to
- 10:52Speaker 2: come up? Let me know. As always, I allan talk
- 10:56Speaker 2: to you later.
