Transcript
- 0:01Hello folks, this is Princess. You are listening to the
- 0:04Millennial Mustard. Seed podcast.
- 0:06Thanks for listening. Don't forget.
- 0:08To share with your friends. That's tough.
- 0:11We're in a very tough spot. I think that what we're doing
- 0:15right now is a great benefit and virtue because it's an end
- 0:19around between this whole corrupt informational system,
- 0:23media system. We claim to believe in a God who
- 0:27spoke the universe into existence and literally raised
- 0:30himself from the dead, and yet we're not going to believe that
- 0:34anything else exists in the spirit realm, even though His
- 0:37word tells us that they do. Their bodies weren't permitted
- 0:41to go to sleep like humans do. And they weren't.
- 0:45Permitted to go to heaven so they wander the earth you know
- 0:49I've seen the eyes turn black to.
- 0:51Unknown tongues. Being spoken.
- 0:55These giants would love way up in the Highland, the young
- 0:58Braves. The young men would hide up in
- 1:00the trees and wait for one of these 12 footers to come walking
- 1:03down the path and they would jump on them and kill them, drag
- 1:07them back to the village and the village would feast on the body
- 1:09freedom. Then people start to get
- 1:16weapons, they start to get armor, they start to build
- 1:18cities, they start to fortify their cities.
- 1:20Now God looks down and there's violence everywhere.
- 1:24The. Battle.
- 1:25This war that we are at is not against each other.
- 1:28It's against these principalities and these rulers
- 1:30and these archons in the high places.
- 1:32It's really worthwhile to read the Bible yourself.
- 1:35Fear is one of the primary drivers of mind control because
- 1:40we have to take every thought captive and resist fear.
- 1:46You're going to have a testimony that is a justice case against
- 1:52the Kingdom of darkness. Welcome back to another mini
- 2:20episode. This is Pete from the Days In
- 2:22All podcast and I'm here with Rod.
- 2:24Good to be here with you again Pete, enjoying these mini
- 2:27episodes. That's right.
- 2:30Rod, of course from the Millennial Mustard Seed podcast.
- 2:32And, and he and I've been doing these many episodes for a while,
- 2:35as you guys know, and we're starting something new this
- 2:40time. And that is to kind of string
- 2:42together a series along one topic and taking a deeper dive
- 2:48in it, but in bite sized chunks in many episodes.
- 2:52And this one might be 567 parts. We're not so sure yet.
- 2:57I pictured 5, but I could see it going more so this was something
- 3:02that boy I I'm trying to think of how it came to me exactly,
- 3:07but it it felt like a Holy Spirit kind of shining a
- 3:12spotlight on something that is very contentious with very
- 3:16debated in Christianity. And that is the idea of eternal
- 3:21security, or once saved, always saved.
- 3:25And I've had my opinion, of course, as many of you I'm sure
- 3:28have, on that topic, strong opinions, especially when we
- 3:32look at Scripture one way or the other, because there's verses
- 3:36that seem to clearly point to that and verses that seem to
- 3:40admonish us to stick with our faith and make sure we finish
- 3:46the race. So we're going to take a look at
- 3:50this today and we're going to start with an observation that
- 3:58people leave the faith of Christianity.
- 4:01We see that we see people, we don't know their hearts, but as
- 4:05best we can tell, for a season, maybe for years, decades even,
- 4:12people seem to have all all the marks of a genuine believer.
- 4:20And at some point in their life, they walk away.
- 4:24And so we're kind of left with two choices for how to explain
- 4:28that. The way that I always thought of
- 4:31it was, well, that person must not have been a genuine
- 4:35believer. They were a false convert.
- 4:38They were never really saved. They were like chaff or tears
- 4:42among the wheat. Another way to think of it is
- 4:46they were saved, but they actually fell away due to
- 4:50circumstances or things in their life.
- 4:54And so we're going to kind of start this off by looking at the
- 4:58parable of the sower that's in several of the gospel accounts.
- 5:03Little bit of variation between the the three accounts, but more
- 5:07or less saying the same thing. So Rod, can you walk us through
- 5:11that for reference? Yeah, just before I do, I just
- 5:14want to mention something that is pretty strong and and I don't
- 5:20want to say it's an epiphany, but it.
- 5:22But as I'm listening to you, Pete, I'm realizing the seasons
- 5:26for building, for laughing, for crying, right that Solomon talks
- 5:29about. And just the perspective real
- 5:32quick to present that there's times where I think people have
- 5:37assumed some have walked away from the faith because the order
- 5:42or the conduct of that person's walk no longer would fit into
- 5:46the mold of the church, the building, which means they're
- 5:49not showing up for prayer meetings.
- 5:50They must be sitting and have lost their way, right?
- 5:54Or, you know, they're no longer as jolly and happy as as they
- 5:57were last year. And now the gossip flutters
- 6:01through the people who have nothing to else to do with their
- 6:04time and but the real, genuine believer.
- 6:09The relationship is happening intimately with the Lord.
- 6:12Dialoguing, wrestling through concepts, questioning reality
- 6:16sometimes. And so just the perspective I
- 6:19want to present before I read Matthew 13 is that the outward
- 6:24appearance, we can't pay too much attention to it, although
- 6:27it is a good way to understand what somebody's maybe their
- 6:31habitual sin or their lifestyle is because if somebody's doing
- 6:34something that's just clearly wrong, like, you know, crime and
- 6:39just, you know, a really sinful life.
- 6:40Yeah. It's easy to call it as you see
- 6:42them. But sometimes there's desert
- 6:44seasons. And I just wanted to mention
- 6:46that because I don't want the audience to think because I've
- 6:48been through those desert seasons and I've heard the
- 6:51rumors about me that, oh, he's lost it.
- 6:53And he never really was in the faith.
- 6:55I've heard all that stuff. And I would just silently sit
- 6:57there and be like, Lord, I can't fake it.
- 7:00I need you. And I'm not feeling it right
- 7:02now, but I love you and I trust you.
- 7:04You. Who else would I turn to?
- 7:06So I just wanted that to be a little bit of comfort for a
- 7:09listener out there. I appreciate that, Rod.
- 7:12Thank you for kind of rounding out as we get into this with
- 7:18with that caveat or disclaimer, because you're right.
- 7:23As we kind of explore this, I hope that you, no one hears Rod
- 7:29or myself ever say that because you're struggling with sin or
- 7:33your faith feels weak that you're, you're one of those two,
- 7:38you're a false convert or you've, you've fallen away.
- 7:42We're not going to say that. That's up to your allegiance to
- 7:46God in your heart to decide that.
- 7:50So we'll try to be very clear as we as we go along here and make
- 7:59the distinction that someone who falls away and there's many
- 8:05scriptures that talk about someone who, who is like that is
- 8:10not someone who is going through that dry season.
- 8:13That's this is something different.
- 8:14This is, this is like an about face.
- 8:18I've had enough of you, God, whether you say it in your heart
- 8:21or verbally, I'm done. I'm done with this, this faith
- 8:25life that I've tried to live and I'm going my own way.
- 8:28And then some people do that, you know, without saying that
- 8:34audibly or even saying it in their heart.
- 8:37But overtime their heart becomes callous.
- 8:39So we we don't want to make the the mistake of saying that a
- 8:45season of feeling low or lost or carnal means you've fallen away.
- 8:52This. This would be the person that
- 8:54is, for all intents and purposes, shaking their fists at
- 8:58God, saying I'm done. I was going to say that like
- 9:00direct rebellion, like they want the reversal of what they know
- 9:05is the way, right? And so Matthew 13, the parable
- 9:10of the sower, that same day, Jesus went out of the house and
- 9:15sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered
- 9:18around him that he got into a boat and he sat in it while all
- 9:23the people stood on the shore. He told them many things in
- 9:27parables, saying a farmer went out to sow his seed.
- 9:32As he was scattering the seeds, some fell along the path and the
- 9:37birds came down and they ate it up.
- 9:40Some fell on rocky places where it did not have much soil.
- 9:45It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow, but when the
- 9:50sun came up the plants were scorched, and they withered
- 9:54because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns,
- 9:59which grew up and choked out the plants, and some seeds fell on
- 10:04good soil, where it produced a crop 160 or 30 times what was
- 10:09sown. Whoever has an ear, let him
- 10:14hear. And I'll stop you right there
- 10:17for a moment as Jesus tells this parable to unpack some profound
- 10:26truths. And he's about to explain that
- 10:30as the disciples ask, why do you speak in parables and what does
- 10:35this mean? And so if we jump down to verse
- 10:4018, Rod or sorry, 16, I'll, I'll add that out.
- 10:48If we jump down to verse 18, Rod, can you continue with the
- 10:52explanation of that parable? Absolutely, it says.
- 10:57Listen then, to what the parable of the sower means.
- 11:01When anyone hears the message about the Kingdom and does not
- 11:03understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was
- 11:08sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the
- 11:12path. The seed falling on rocky ground
- 11:16refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it
- 11:19with joy. But since they have no root,
- 11:23they only last a short time. When trouble or persecution
- 11:27comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
- 11:33The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who
- 11:35hears the word. But the worries of this life and
- 11:38the deceitfulness of wealth choke out the word, making it
- 11:44unfruitful. But the seed falling on good
- 11:47soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it.
- 11:52This is the one who produces A crop yielding 160 or 30 times
- 11:58that which was sown. So one way we can look at this
- 12:03parable is that the power of the seed is the word of God, the
- 12:11truth of the gospel, As Paul said, I am not ashamed of the
- 12:17gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation, right?
- 12:21So, so that is inherent in every one of these seeds that are
- 12:25thrown, whether it hits the rocky path, the rocky ground,
- 12:31whether I'm going to say that again, whether it falls on the
- 12:35path or on the rocky ground, amongst the thorns or on the
- 12:40good soil. So what's the difference between
- 12:43the four scenarios? The soil.
- 12:46So you can think of the soil as the condition of our hearts.
- 12:50The seed never makes it there at all.
- 12:53Satan snatches it away. It makes it to the rocks that
- 12:59have a little bit of soil there. So that seed is able to
- 13:02germinate. It says the person receives it
- 13:05with joy and it grows for a season, but it Withers and dies
- 13:14when persecution and trouble comes because it has no root.
- 13:20The roots were shallow, right? So you go through a difficult
- 13:24season and you know, maybe your mom or your grandma dies before
- 13:30you're able to able to handle it.
- 13:34And you shake your fist at God and say God, if you were good,
- 13:39that wouldn't have happened. And you walk away.
- 13:44And you walk away because you didn't have the roots going
- 13:49deep. You know, the seasons of life
- 13:51are meant for our roots of faith to go deeper when the water is
- 13:56not at the surface of the soil. This the roots have to go deeper
- 14:01to find the water source to keep living.
- 14:05And you can do this with your plants in your house.
- 14:07If, if you water your plants everyday, you'll keep the roots
- 14:13shallow, they'll have no reason to go any deeper.
- 14:17But if you wait until the soil dries out just a bit, the roots
- 14:24are going to have to go deeper. So this parable unpacks one
- 14:30reason why someone believes for a time that seed germinates and
- 14:36the plant even grows. You see a plant growing, but
- 14:41then it falls away. And then the thorns is someone
- 14:46who again the deceitfulness of wealth, the worries of life.
- 14:53You can say the pleasure and the pain rod.
- 14:56The pleasure and the pain make it unfruitful.
- 15:02It's interesting to the wording of, of this section.
- 15:05It says it's unfruitful. It doesn't say that it that it
- 15:09withered and died. And I, I've wondered sometimes,
- 15:13does that mean this person is unsaved because it, they just
- 15:18didn't produce a fruit? Kind of hold that question in
- 15:22your minds as you guys think about that for a while.
- 15:25We're going to come back to that on another episode as we look at
- 15:30Matthew 7. And then the last seed, of
- 15:34course, falls among good soil. That was the heart that was able
- 15:38to receive it. It wasn't hardened soil, right?
- 15:42That seed was able to find water, find air, not go through
- 15:49tough soil. And the roots went deep.
- 15:55So it survived when there wasn't enough rain.
- 15:57It survived when there was too much sun and it made it.
- 16:04And I think that really explains Rod, just kind of the condition
- 16:09of people that seem to have faith some that the seed never
- 16:13germinates. Satan steals it away.
- 16:17Maybe that's like the pearls before swine.
- 16:21You could think of a street preacher and someone yelling and
- 16:24swearing at them and saying I don't want anything to do with
- 16:27your Jesus. That would be seed that never
- 16:30germinates. Yeah.
- 16:34And what's ringing a bell for me as I'm listening, Pete, is guard
- 16:39your heart, for out of it flows the issues of life.
- 16:44And so we're supposed to guard it, which means you're you're on
- 16:48watch. And then I love what David said
- 16:51in the Old Testament. He says I store your word in me
- 16:56that I may not sin against you and it very much relates to the
- 17:01condition of a field. If you would consider, you know
- 17:07that this is how God is demonstrating the word interacts
- 17:11with us. We guard it.
- 17:13We store it up so that nothing prevents the yielding of good
- 17:20measure in the perfect season. I'm enjoying these many
- 17:25episodes, Pete, because even though I record them with you, I
- 17:29listen to them myself a few weeks later.
- 17:32You're kind of like, hey, I, I remember what we talked about,
- 17:35but not not every detail. And it seems like it's the right
- 17:39word in the right season and the right time.
- 17:42So these minis are are not only good for me, but I know that
- 17:46they're good for the listeners out there.
- 17:49Yeah, I appreciate it, Rod. And so we're going to wrap up on
- 17:52this one for now and continue with a Part 2 where we left off
- 17:59talking about the difference between once saved, always saved
- 18:04and eternal security. Is there a difference?
- 18:07Those are often conflated as the same thing.
- 18:12So with that, we'll wrap up. Thanks for listening, guys.
- 18:15God bless. Goodbye.
- 18:48I trusted in your word Many troubled nights, all that
- 18:51darkness thought I lost my sight.
- 18:53The devil shooting shots, trying to end my life.
- 18:56But I'm covered by the blood, so I'm going to be all right.
- 18:59I'm down one, but I'm up two. I've been down once, but it's
- 19:04Love's true. I'm seeking this face, feeling
- 19:07the grace. I'm running this race for
- 19:09eternity. Space.
- 19:10I need more love. Less tears, no more drugs, less
- 19:14fears. The stress reel, the test.
- 19:16Here I'm washing over everything up in my mind.
- 19:19Pummel the devil. How's it feel?
- 19:21You out of time. Lord God, you said you never
- 19:25leave me. Lord God, you said you'd always
- 19:28see me through. You'd always see me through
- 19:34because these demons get to chasing after me.
- 19:36Generational iniquity is everything I see when I look in
- 19:41my family pictures because my baby pictures, they got me
- 19:44crying like I'm just in the devil and I'm praying just real
- 19:47hard in the spirit. I'm really feeling the Holy
- 19:49Spirit is coming near me. I'm like Lord God be the way the
- 19:53truth or life don't ever leave me.
- 19:55Jesus Christ, I really need you tonight.
- 19:57I'm like, Lord God, you put it on my heart, You moving in and
- 20:01through me and you're erasing all the dark.
- 20:04You're the way, You're the truth.
- 20:05You're the lie. Lord God, you said you never
- 20:12leave me. Lord God, you said, you'll
- 20:14always see me through. You'll always see me through.
- 20:22Lord God, you said you'll never leave me.
- 20:24Lord God, you said you'll always see me through.
- 20:29You'll always see me through. Yeah.
- 20:33You justified the sentence to me.
- 20:34I pray you don't. The penalty times I remember.
- 20:37And think. About the penalty.
- 20:39Desires of the heart brought rebellion, causing enmity.
- 20:42Lord, you know the truth here. Despite who we pretend to be,
- 20:45I'm giving you the enemy. This is what it looked like.
- 20:48And This is why I took Christ. The one who gave the crook life.
- 20:51Forgive me for my idol words. Every word I took life.
- 20:53For times I should have stayed here.
- 20:55For every step I took life. My God ain't desert me.
- 20:58Chastised and mercy baptized and hurt me.
- 21:01Yeah, I should have died.
