- 0:00As we pointed to again, just to open up this concept.
- 0:03If I had this idea and the word seems surprising.
- 0:07Tawara person trying to attain purity.
- 0:09That sounds like some sort of a spiritual McVeigh concept has
- 0:15nothing to do. So mental purity means I'm
- 0:18working on. I mean, doing things for the
- 0:20right reasons, whatever it may be, raising your family, doing
- 0:25something, community work, even your own without learning,
- 0:29whatever it is, doing it for the right reason.
- 0:31That means less busy with fanfare, less focus on others
- 0:34have to say, less busy with recognition, less interested in
- 0:39power and controlling these things.
- 0:41More about the core, simple, pure purpose.
- 0:44And we've spoken about how the more a person does.
- 0:47So it's difficult to attain this because we live in a world where
- 0:51everything's spoken about, everything's talked about,
- 0:53everything's seen and what makes a big deal.
- 0:56We only feel good if we recognize we don't feel good if
- 0:58we're highest, right? That's our world.
- 1:01We don't feel good when I noticed.
- 1:02So because of that, it's a difficult world to it
- 1:04definitely, maybe even more difficult now.
- 1:07It needs to be no matter how famous you were back then, you
- 1:11weren't the biggest deal. You weren't more famous.
- 1:13A couple of people were. Today there are many, many
- 1:16people. I always led by this.
- 1:18Now you hear about so many different people that are
- 1:20considered celebrities and it's like now you have a hundreds of
- 1:24thousands say in American America with singers or actors,
- 1:27so many people considered a big deal.
- 1:29You think you'd run out, you know, But it doesn't work that
- 1:31way. You can have more, more and
- 1:33more. And the truth is if you go to
- 1:34the Jewish world also many, many celebrities and people publicly
- 1:39well known rabbis, whatever it is.
- 1:42So because of that, it's much harder to be interested and
- 1:45devoted to low key. But the way it works, the less
- 1:49you care about that, the more you can be pure and the more you
- 1:53can do things with our motives and the more you can succeed in
- 1:56the real way. So now the issue is, how do you
- 1:59attain this mindset? Let's see the way to attain this
- 2:06mindset. Kalu.
- 2:08It's easy for a person who's already the me Sheikh Varisht
- 2:12Adel, they see Gamidot, Hashiniot, Athena.
- 2:16And a person has already developed a way to be a a good
- 2:19Jew when it comes to, for example, Zirizut being highly
- 2:22motivated. You have the right mindset to
- 2:23get motivated. Then you can also attain pure
- 2:27motives. It goes connected.
- 2:29And a person can get himself to be Zahid.
- 2:31Zahid means he's very careful and aware of everything he does
- 2:36in life. He thinks about everything he
- 2:37does. That same person probably is
- 2:40also able to be pure thinker. It's connected.
- 2:44How are they connected? Here's how it goes.
- 2:46Key and a kosher chovid bonen upper he toot TA nguyaro Alam
- 2:51vatovatov. The more a person drills into
- 2:54his mind, the lowliness, the insignificance, the unimportance
- 3:01of this world's things. Kamor shekhawati lemala one of
- 3:04his main points in the book, Yimasu Bahim.
- 3:08He'll eventually become turned away, turned off from being so
- 3:13busy with this world's lowly ideas.
- 3:21A person will be able to really look at, let's say cavort, let's
- 3:27say for example, or a temptation as what it is.
- 3:31What is cavort? It's hot air.
- 3:34What is cavort? It's something that's made-up if
- 3:37you think about it. And I thought a study on this in
- 3:38my own mind, like a personal study.
- 3:41People who give others cavort, unless you say cavort, they
- 3:44don't really respect so and so. They respect his money, they
- 3:48respect his name. They think about where it's
- 3:50going to lead him to, right? It's not even covered.
- 3:53It's not even the real covered that people get.
- 3:55Even that is not real because it's not about you.
- 3:57It's not about what you you represent personally.
- 4:01It's more about what are you going to do the so and so.
- 4:04Who wants to cling to you, right?
- 4:06You take away some this individual's title or his money,
- 4:10the people are not into him anymore.
- 4:11What happened? He don't lose his gifts, he
- 4:14loses charm. The answer is the cover was
- 4:16never based on charm. And this is a clear indication
- 4:18how fake and how hollow honor is.
- 4:22It's one of the most shocking things to realize.
- 4:26You break it down, you look, you know, you know, and you can
- 4:28imagine, go back to high school when a guy was popular, whatever
- 4:32was almost popular, and you look at why they were popular.
- 4:34Or the reality is adults are still in high school.
- 4:38Really, that's all they are. They're still in high school,
- 4:40just, you know, a little more coded and a little bit less
- 4:44noticeable, but it's the same thing.
- 4:46A lot of people like wealthy people.
- 4:48They do so because in their mind, somehow it's going to lead
- 4:52to something. You know, I don't know, it could
- 4:55be 80 years doesn't lead to a thing, but people believe it
- 4:57does and they're back in the head, right?
- 4:59So that's the hollowness of cavort.
- 5:02The more person jewels into their mind, the clearer and more
- 5:07real emotives can be. Which means if I believe cavort
- 5:12is something and if it gives me a real significant long term
- 5:16good feeling, I've seen my motive.
- 5:19It's going to come a lotterial motive and I can't get it out of
- 5:22my system. But over time, the older you
- 5:24get, the more real this is. You start to realize how fake it
- 5:27is. You start to witness how people
- 5:29in the community have gone up and down.
- 5:31You've seen that. You've seen how being friends
- 5:34with, you know, you know, important people didn't really
- 5:38do that much for you. Eventually, maybe it made you
- 5:40feel better by yourself, whatever, but didn't really do
- 5:42not much. And all the time your motives
- 5:45there will become didn't make your kids into better kids,
- 5:46didn't make you do a better person, didn't make your
- 5:48marriage better. It didn't help you find a job.
- 5:51It didn't help anything. So over time you start to
- 5:54realize, OK, you know what, that's just a motive.
- 5:57It's a side motive and it's keeping my eyes off the real
- 6:00goal. That's how a person purifies
- 6:03their mind by doing away with these different alternative
- 6:07drives. That's what he's telling you.
- 6:09Is that linked? To absolutely, the more a
- 6:12person's enough, the less he has to feed his ego and the greater
- 6:17he has an ability to be himself. The most independent person is
- 6:22the person actually who can be very enough.
- 6:26You don't think that they play a role?
- 6:27How does humility play a role? With independent minded answer
- 6:30is the more a person's Gava, the more he's thinking about other
- 6:34people all the time. About Gava told these many times
- 6:38is the most insecure personal life.
- 6:41Why? Because by being arrogant, what
- 6:44they're thinking about is how others are treating them and
- 6:47that's all they care about. Arrogance plays directly into
- 6:50insecurity. Sometimes insecure people act
- 6:52like arrogant people. Sometimes arrogant people are
- 6:55really the most insecure people alive.
- 6:57They play hand in hand and by doing so they're so busy.
- 7:01What do others say about them? That's what arrogance is.
- 7:05So it's insecurity is they can't function on their own, they
- 7:08cannot live independently and takes away and their ability to
- 7:12think clearly. And there's nothing more
- 7:14destructive than having side motives and therefore being was
- 7:20arrogant and secure. That's what he's telling you.
- 7:22And they were more to your point, the more another person
- 7:24is, the clearer he can think, right.
- 7:29But to admit it's law when a person clarifies that these
- 7:35different motives or these different other side things that
- 7:39I've driven into are really not good for me.
- 7:42And the destructive vadai, they'll make it easier.
- 7:45Chi Aquelo, let's say brother's going to make a life decision.
- 7:50All right, let's take an extreme case.
- 7:52The guy, he's a president of a school, right?
- 7:58But you know, it's not good for him.
- 7:59You know, he's being president of the school tuition.
- 8:00It's not it's not working for him.
- 8:01It's not good for his family. It's bringing out the worst in
- 8:04him. He wants out.
- 8:06You know, it's like while you're president of the school, you're
- 8:08very well known. People got to call you.
- 8:10People need to connect to you. People are friendly with you,
- 8:13all these things. Great.
- 8:15If you'd step away, step aside, you're going to go into
- 8:19technically speaking to your best and you're going to become
- 8:21a nobody in a certain sense. Now you know it's good for you.
- 8:25You know, it's better to be a family to leave this.
- 8:28You also know that you're literally cashing in and turning
- 8:34down that prestige, that notoriety, that importance, that
- 8:39significance. All the Khazakabruzzi get, after
- 8:41Aliyah, they're going to go away.
- 8:43All the people coming to your children's wedding, they'll be
- 8:45less. All they say this is real, guys
- 8:48got to step aside. Has to make that decision.
- 8:51Is it hard? It's torture, right?
- 8:54It's torture. Giving away the keys of torture,
- 8:56right? It's definitely torture.
- 8:58But he's got to make a life decision.
- 8:59He thinks he's a good fan now. Often times being connected to
- 9:03community service is very good for you.
- 9:05So you really have to, you know, dig deep to find out if it's a
- 9:08pure motive, not a pure motive. He thinks it's pure.
- 9:11The only way to do so is to first really believe in his
- 9:16heart of hearts at that cowboy that he's getting doesn't really
- 9:20mean anything, hasn't done anything for him.
- 9:23He believes that. He accepts that.
- 9:25He absorbs it. Now we can go into a clear
- 9:28decision. Otherwise forget about it.
- 9:30Can never go with the keys. You can't, I can't call.
- 9:38The more you, you dig in and you, you really, you know, pile
- 9:43on the concept that these other motives don't really do anything
- 9:47for me. They're not good for me.
- 9:48You're Teddy and I kill. The heavier it gets on this
- 9:52concept, the lighter it gets to make clear decisions, to make
- 9:56clear decisions. You want to think that
- 9:58ourselves, every decision we make should be pretty good on
- 10:01one idea. Is it good for me and my family?
- 10:03And that's it. That's all decision you make in
- 10:06every area. Is it or is it not?
- 10:09And the only way you can do so is if you get rid of all the
- 10:12motives. That's it.
- 10:13That's what he says. You'll tell you not to be
- 10:21controlled by Itzela Cloud bishum Masim Masim the rule
- 10:26across the board Ella yeva Masima Humirot Canus lawsuit.
- 10:31He should not be interested in other hits that are motors at
- 10:35all any of his actions. Rather, you know, he only has he
- 10:39hits it off a certain things, but he doesn't really think
- 10:42about it. And he said he thinks about
- 10:43clarity and he focused on the direction in life and that's it.
- 10:47This is very important and very difficult to attain the purity
- 10:51that a person wants to have. Now the reason it's so difficult
- 10:55is because all good people, in my humble opinion, are not
- 10:59making decisions being right and right right and rule.
- 11:02They'd rather than make a decision to be right and right
- 11:05and to make those decisions are very difficult.
- 11:08You have a wedding to go to debating should I go should I
- 11:11not go as a decision usually tie away a lot.
- 11:15It's not a matter of laziness. You're debating should I spend
- 11:17time with my family or should I go to the wedding?
- 11:21You have A to learn. Should I learn it?
- 11:23Should I make my schedule tighter or should I not right?
- 11:28I feels like a decision between right and right.
- 11:31We involve the community service.
- 11:33Should I continue doing so and it's going to make my own family
- 11:36schedule crazy or should I not because I'll have a peaceful
- 11:40time at home? Again, feeling like a decision
- 11:43between right and right. And the only way you can sift
- 11:45through that decision still very difficult.
- 11:48The only way you can sift through it is if you take out
- 11:51all the pulse, if you make it a clear decision about what's in
- 11:54front of you, and that's it. How do you get that?
- 11:57By getting rid of the sense of cavoid that I'm busy with.
- 12:01And the truth is, it's actually extremely difficult to do away
- 12:06with cavoid. Cavoid notoriety, significance,
- 12:11relevance, hashibut all those words are all words that we all
- 12:16live for. Most people live for cavoid.
- 12:19That's reality. Most people live relevance.
- 12:23I don't know anyone I know that doesn't have relevance on their
- 12:25mind to some degree. Everyone's got to be relevant in
- 12:28one way and therefore people end up building on the minds that
- 12:31are relevance and sometimes, often times leads them to make
- 12:36decisions that wouldn't like what schools to send their
- 12:38children to. Very often they'd be surprised.
- 12:41It's based on what others are going to think, right?
- 12:45Where to live or job to take, or how much they should be involved
- 12:50in community service, where they should pray, right?
- 12:53All these things have relevance related to them.
- 12:58To think that a person is pure minded and he's only thinking
- 13:00about his family, you know, I'd like to see that person and I
- 13:04wish that person and I'm very impressed by that person.
- 13:07But that takes a lot of work. And that is something that
- 13:11basically is a clear thinker. That's how we go.
- 13:15Because why do we want other people's thoughts to be evolved
- 13:19in our lives? I want to raise my children.
- 13:21I want to build my family, I want to have the right head or I
- 13:25want other people involved. The only way to get that out of
- 13:27your system is by doing way well to your motives.
- 13:30More. You hear the point.
- 13:31Yeah, but I'm thinking about seeing names of families on a
- 13:35building. Yeah, isn't that good?
- 13:37Also for instance. We'll come back to that.
- 13:39Oftentimes, it's Christ. Children for the Rabbi Joey once
- 13:42said it's it's it's better to donate with your name than to
- 13:46donate anonymous, right? It's.
- 13:48Is when you've had this kind of sources other people.
- 13:50To do it. Has conversation many times
- 13:52inspiration and the reality is there's a positive and is major
- 13:56negative, major positive and the simple negative is yes, you're
- 13:59thinking about naturally people going to see the name and drive
- 14:03by. There's a negative there
- 14:04naturally. However, the anonymous thing
- 14:08general has a lot of downsides to it.
- 14:10One, children don't know and the children don't know properly.
- 14:14They are not as driven to give as a reality and they cannot be,
- 14:17can't do without it. I'm on #2 the community doesn't
- 14:21know. I mean the community doesn't
- 14:22know and don't see how much people give.
- 14:24They too don't see that feeling. Everything that's done.
- 14:28Why are fundraisers done in public?
- 14:30There's no other way 'cause you giving.
- 14:32I want to give this to a feeling.
- 14:34Sometimes the depression understood, but often times it
- 14:38does. The church and overall, I think
- 14:40the number one cause, the children cause the most
- 14:42important thing. Children who grow up with
- 14:44parents who are generous are naturally how do you have a
- 14:47barometer, how much to give? I don't know.
- 14:49It's money that I'm giving out of my pocket.
- 14:51All right, Every dollar should hurt.
- 14:52Well, the way I get used to it is my feeling like my parents
- 14:55did it. I'm used to it.
- 14:56It's the way to do it. I said the whole community does.
- 14:58I see people who are respected or those who are loose.
- 15:01So these things are all playing to the beauty and the importance
- 15:05of putting names on buildings and publicizing and these
- 15:08things. And above all, it's says their
- 15:12name, says their parents name. It's really for their memory.
- 15:15It's a real thing and it's absolutely a real thing.
- 15:17I said before, you know, we're talking about the shul and the
- 15:19name. I was teasing my brother.
- 15:21I said if I could only put my father's name on this building
- 15:24somehow, right? Imagined.
- 15:26I wish I'm not a millionaire. I can't do it, but someone who
- 15:29can I could put your. Grandfather's name in the other
- 15:31building it. Worked out everything.
- 15:32Wasn't the bill I worked out, but the reality of someone who
- 15:35can call like I wrote to them and it's the greatest thing.
- 15:38Imagine you, your parents name can live forever by being the
- 15:41name of a shoe on the name of the building or something, even
- 15:44the name of a wing or the name of the dash.
- 15:46Whatever it is, it's a big deal, right?
- 15:48If you get that, you get gold. That's why it's worth it in
- 15:51every sense. But there is no, no, you can't
- 15:54get do away with that. There is a degree of notoriety
- 15:57that comes from it and it's definitely a good feeling.
- 16:01And that's something that you want, you know, that probably
- 16:03want to shave off. I think that it's not done with
- 16:06GAVA. So I gava, I'm going to look
- 16:08they why it's not GAVA the good. The reason why you can't really
- 16:11see it is gava is people are spending so much money.
- 16:14If you look how generous people are, you know, forget it.
- 16:19People are so generous. So that's why I would say it's
- 16:22not. Gava I want to see the name and
- 16:24and lights and the so yeah, but they do want to see the name in
- 16:28lights or it's on a building like there could be part of it.
- 16:33Yeah, and they go, my father used to talk about, he used to
- 16:36say the best investment of all the time.
- 16:38He's who this guy is. They got Lane going.
- 16:40He said they got changing him in the house for this guy.
- 16:42And then with the research, all the guy gave, how much things I
- 16:44gave? Million, 300 million. 300
- 16:50million, Yeah, he deserves it. I think look it up, I didn't
- 16:53answer this. I value what is your do it only
- 16:56say again only 300 million. I value used to say whatever the
- 16:59number was. We used to talk about every time
- 17:00I went to the city, he said. The guy got the best deal
- 17:02possible. Imagine his name is on the
- 17:07hospital forever. It's great.
- 17:08Gord, look it up. OK, we'll start with this.
