- 0:05Kira Derryberry: Welcome to Get Your Shoe Together.
- 0:12Kira Derryberry: The photographer's podcast where we discuss studio business life and keeping it all in line.
- 0:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: I am Kira Dairberry And I'm Mary Fishtailer.
- 0:20Kira Derryberry: I, my window is busted out, mary, it's sure is.
- 0:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: At your studio Man That yeah, kira just sent me a picture of what's going on and it's it's not cute, it's not cute It looks like I got robbed, but I assure you that I haven't I.
- 0:36Kira Derryberry: we have a double-pane door glass and I think like a rock hit it or something.
- 0:41Kira Derryberry: It doesn't look like anyone purposely broke it.
- 0:43Kira Derryberry: It's an old.
- 0:44Kira Derryberry: it's an old door needed to be replaced anyway, but it's definitely getting replaced now.
- 0:48Kira Derryberry: So, but yeah, we had a huge storm this morning, as I was telling you about, and the the wind just blew out all the glass everywhere, So it really looks like an explosion.
- 0:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, it does, It does, And it's the door you don't use, which is good, So don't.
- 1:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: This isn't her main door in door studio.
- 1:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: This is a door that's kind of blocked off because it would be into where your studio area is.
- 1:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: So it's not used, but it just it looks.
- 1:11Mary Fisk-Taylor: It looks like a smashing grab happened at the Dairberry photography studio.
- 1:14Kira Derryberry: Yeah, it doesn't look.
- 1:15Kira Derryberry: It doesn't look great.
- 1:16Kira Derryberry: I would be suspected.
- 1:17Kira Derryberry: Maybe you know what?
- 1:19Kira Derryberry: Maybe the robbers will be like oh somebody already hit that place, let's not.
- 1:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah Well, there you go.
- 1:22Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's one way to fool them.
- 1:25Kira Derryberry: But it's a bummer, you know, it's just like one more thing you got to fix.
- 1:28Kira Derryberry: But we've, man, we've had some storms.
- 1:29Kira Derryberry: This morning I was certain that some trees were going to fall down.
- 1:33Kira Derryberry: This morning.
- 1:34Kira Derryberry: Everything got rescheduled for me.
- 1:36Kira Derryberry: I had shoots this morning and I went and did it this afternoon and my contact person at the office's name was Kira.
- 1:44Kira Derryberry: I know What I know.
- 1:48Kira Derryberry: So I walked in and she's like hi, I'm Kira.
- 1:50Kira Derryberry: And I'm like hi, i'm Kira.
- 1:51Kira Derryberry: And then we go and she shows me the conference room where I was going to be shooting and she goes can I you know?
- 1:56Kira Derryberry: if you need anything at all, just to shout my name.
- 1:59Kira Derryberry: And I was like just call my own name.
- 2:00Kira Derryberry: Okay, that's funny, wow.
- 2:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't meet a lot of Kira's.
- 2:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, they're out there.
- 2:05Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, they're out there for sure, for sure, they're out there.
- 2:07Mary Fisk-Taylor: But wow, that's, that's great.
- 2:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know so I am not a crafty person.
- 2:14Kira Derryberry: Remember last year at the beach, remember.
- 2:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I'm not a crafty person.
- 2:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: My sister, my daughter super crafters.
- 2:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: They're amazing.
- 2:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: Not a crafty person, but I have decided.
- 2:23Mary Fisk-Taylor: So there's a thing when you go to a day do they give you, like dreaming tree cross stitches.
- 2:32Kira Derryberry: Like what do they give you?
- 2:34Mary Fisk-Taylor: They do not Dream catchers.
- 2:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, I'm just kidding.
- 2:37Kira Derryberry: Oh, that would have been better.
- 2:38Mary Fisk-Taylor: So it's not just David.
- 2:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: So you have some.
- 2:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: My daughter made you some of those little beaded bracelets.
- 2:43Kira Derryberry: I know that this big with the Taylor.
- 2:44Mary Fisk-Taylor: Swift, gang and DMB.
- 2:47Mary Fisk-Taylor: They do usually this those rubber bracelets.
- 2:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know the ones that are just like.
- 2:50Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know the rubber ones and everybody puts different fun sayings and you trade them.
- 2:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: You just it's like trading pins at Disney I've heard about, i've never done this but like if your kid goes as baseball and has a baseball tournament, they trade pins And so it's this kind of thing.
- 3:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: So you do these bracelets.
- 3:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well, i didn't want to do the plastic ones because meh.
- 3:07Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I and I was inspired by Alex's cute little bracelets and I have now made 50 bracelets.
- 3:20Kira Derryberry: She wasn't expecting 50.
- 3:22Mary Fisk-Taylor: Like if you could have seen her physical reaction to be saying that.
- 3:27Kira Derryberry: Yes, i'll, i'll save you one.
- 3:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'll save you one.
- 3:29Kira Derryberry: I can't wait.
- 3:29Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm very excited.
- 3:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: So, um, jackson, i have dead income, a grateful dad or dead in co this week, and so I've made some debt and company ones and I'm making some for the gorge for day 50.
- 3:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: So so fun, yeah.
- 3:41Mary Fisk-Taylor: So, as your windows are being broken, I'm just crafting over here just crafting away.
- 3:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: And I don't think you call actually running a piece of string through beads crafting, but I'm calling it crafting baby Lucy's doing it too, you know, like she's got her own her own kit.
- 3:55Kira Derryberry: It's very popular right now.
- 3:56Mary Fisk-Taylor: It is The beating It is I used to make.
- 3:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: Did you ever make those friendship bracelets?
- 4:01Kira Derryberry: I know that.
- 4:01Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm older, but I think it comes back around every 10 years or so.
- 4:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: You probably didn't make the braided barrettes that we did during the preppy era, but yeah, that was very preppy.
- 4:11Mary Fisk-Taylor: You would braid them and they'd match your outfits.
- 4:13Kira Derryberry: Oh man.
- 4:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: But yeah, the friendship bracelets, those were really popular.
- 4:20Kira Derryberry: We went through a phase of friendship bracelets, probably around like fifths and sixth grade, and we were learning.
- 4:25Kira Derryberry: I was never very good at learning all the different knots to get the flat, the flat one, you know, the wider one.
- 4:31Kira Derryberry: So I was always just like braiding it.
- 4:34Kira Derryberry: And then and then I didn't have the right thread for it, you know the actual thicker thread for it.
- 4:39Kira Derryberry: So I had, like I found some like sewing machine thread, so I made these like very microscopic braided bracelets.
- 4:49Kira Derryberry: And I took it over to my friend Ashley Meredith.
- 4:52Kira Derryberry: They lived around the corner for me.
- 4:53Kira Derryberry: I took it over to them to give it to them And they had a baby, like an older lady that used to babysit them, be their nanny.
- 4:59Kira Derryberry: And she opened the door and she I'm sure she wasn't that old because I was like 10.
- 5:04Kira Derryberry: She seemed like 105 years old, but she answered the door and I remember her.
- 5:09Kira Derryberry: She was my age, probably 54.
- 5:10Kira Derryberry: I don't know, she just seemed so old.
- 5:12Kira Derryberry: Yeah, 54.
- 5:13Kira Derryberry: She answered the door and she goes Oh, what do you want?
- 5:16Kira Derryberry: Like she's not nice.
- 5:17Kira Derryberry: And I was like, well, i made, i made them some friendship bracelets and I handed it to these like thin threads, you know, to her, and she puts it in her hand, she goes it's just garbage.
- 5:28Kira Derryberry: No, she goes this is just garbage, these are just threads.
- 5:32Kira Derryberry: And I said no, no, no, they're braided.
- 5:34Kira Derryberry: And she was like, well, they're busy.
- 5:36Kira Derryberry: And she shut the door.
- 5:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: Wow, Oh, childhood Man, And we wonder why we need therapy as we get older.
- 5:46Kira Derryberry: Constantly people pleasing No, no, no, no.
- 5:48Mary Fisk-Taylor: Wait door slams That slam, but I mean in her defense, they were practically made with hair, i mean yeah.
- 5:54Kira Derryberry: I mean they were, they were made with the thinnest, thinnest threading, And she was right.
- 6:02Kira Derryberry: She was right to question.
- 6:03Kira Derryberry: I like it.
- 6:05Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh well, fun, fun, fun, fun times.
- 6:07Kira Derryberry: That's a fun memory So all right.
- 6:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well, let's take a quick little pause for little words from our sponsor.

- 7:10Kira Derryberry: And we are back.
- 7:14Kira Derryberry: Yes, you know I was sitting around today avoiding responsibility because so many people are off work today at Student Team It is, it is And celebrating, and.
- 7:24Kira Derryberry: But I had a few things to do and I thought, you know, i have.
- 7:29Kira Derryberry: Let me just have it.
- 7:30Kira Derryberry: It's raining, i'm just gonna, i'm just gonna relax.
- 7:33Kira Derryberry: Today, kevin and I played video games And then I knew the second that I sat down to work today that all the things that I forgot that I'm supposed to be doing rushed, rushed back like this kind of like a running stream of consciousness list that somehow, sitting on the couch had erased, like fun, like you know, like on the couch there was no sense of urgency of.
- 7:58Kira Derryberry: The couch was a safe place away from the list, but now the list has found me.
- 8:04Kira Derryberry: Oh.
- 8:05Mary Fisk-Taylor: I hate it when it does that.
- 8:06Kira Derryberry: Yeah, and the deadlines approach.
- 8:13Mary Fisk-Taylor: I am with you 100%, man.
- 8:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: I, you know.
- 8:16Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, i kind of thought I had a much I don't know.
- 8:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: I thought, oh, I've got, i've got a day, man, i've got an easy day.
- 8:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, no, mary did not, mary did not.
- 8:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: Mary has been busy Like it feels like every minute of the day, like it's just been crazy to me, like I was like, oh, it's just, i have this little meeting four hours And then, oh, i had the, i had two coaching calls and then podcasting And I'm like, well, the day's gone, it's 430.
- 8:42Mary Fisk-Taylor: Also, i texted my husband earlier and I said I think we need to order some stuff for the grocery store And he said, well, i only need American cheese.
- 8:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: He loves his American cheese slices.
- 8:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: This is how the man rolls.
- 8:56Mary Fisk-Taylor: He has like five things.
- 8:57Mary Fisk-Taylor: He orders Diapepsy creamer for his coffee.
- 8:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: American cheese is one of them, for sure.
- 9:01Mary Fisk-Taylor: And I'm like, well, awesome Guys, all I need is there's a specific salsa.
- 9:06Mary Fisk-Taylor: I like It's the super chunky salsa.
- 9:07Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's like that.
- 9:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know, it's pretty much tomatoes and onions and cilantro on a chip.
- 9:13Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was like I need salsa and ice cream.
- 9:20Kira Derryberry: So your list is different than mine, i think it is Wow.
- 9:23Kira Derryberry: Just a wow.
- 9:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: Can you imagine the poor Instagram person Like what are they smoking over it?
- 9:31Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know these things are mine, so I have not placed an order because I already feel judged by my own husband, by my own husband by the way, You know, I you know.
- 9:42Kira Derryberry: So what?
- 9:43Kira Derryberry: Get your ice cream and your salsa.
- 9:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, What's your life?
- 9:48Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean it is my life.
- 9:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah it's now or never.
- 9:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: There you go So anyway, let's talk about it, yes.
- 9:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: So, yes, this is something.
- 10:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: I know we've talked about this before, but this was a conversation we actually had during our association call this morning And it's something that a lot of our members have talked about and I wanted to mention it here.
- 10:11Mary Fisk-Taylor: So it's the need.
- 10:14Mary Fisk-Taylor: Is there a need?
- 10:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: I guess we'll start with, but then is there a need and how to create a personal project and stick to it, meaning just that creative project?
- 10:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: that is not.
- 10:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't have to market it and worry about marketing it.
- 10:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't even need to put it on social media, i don't need to price it.
- 10:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: I just doing something creative, creatively because it's imported, or is it not imported?
- 10:43Mary Fisk-Taylor: And that was actually a conversation that was had.
- 10:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I know your thoughts on this, but, yeah, i have a lot of thoughts on that.
- 10:49Kira Derryberry: Yeah, yeah, well, you know, i mean, i guess the question is what drives you as a photographer Let's not use the word artist but just as a photographer?
- 11:02Kira Derryberry: So I mean, i feel like we have two different camps here.
- 11:04Kira Derryberry: We have a hundred percent, yeah, we have you who is like a hundred percent, you know, success, profit driven right A hundred percent, and me who's?
- 11:14Kira Derryberry: you know, i don't want to say I don't have that as a goal, cause obviously I do Cause I get upset about stuff You're very easy to.
- 11:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: I think you can put them in buckets Like you're good.
- 11:24Kira Derryberry: I can, i can compartmentalize, but yeah, but but for me, yeah, being able to be an artist is very important to me And I I I've complained about this for months now.
- 11:33Kira Derryberry: I don't, i don't really feel like one right now, cause I feel like I'm just making money, which is what the goal is, right.
- 11:40Kira Derryberry: But so for someone like me, i think that a personal project that doesn't have to answer to anyone, that's the, that's the thing.
- 11:48Kira Derryberry: The thing that makes me icky about it And it's icky is the wrong word but just the reason I don't do it, a failure to launch is because I'm always trying to figure out how does that make me money?
- 11:56Kira Derryberry: I want to do a personal project, but how can it make me money?
- 11:59Kira Derryberry: Because I I'm just like being torn between these two halves of my brain.
- 12:04Kira Derryberry: You know, i know I need to make it make money, because I have very limited time to be working on anything that doesn't make me money.
- 12:10Kira Derryberry: So, but then it makes me not want to do it, i know, you know.
- 12:14Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, i get it And I think that I, i think I'm chump, i think I'm coming around Like I don't know that I'm going to do it, i'm going to be very honest, but I do feel like I spent a lot of time going.
- 12:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: But how could I?
- 12:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: but how could we flip that and make money with it?
- 12:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: And sometimes that just isn't necessary.
- 12:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's just like.
- 12:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know as much as I, as much as I spend talking about charitable marketing right, and I'm a big fan of charitable marketing.
- 12:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: I love to connect with the charity and make it a marketing opportunity.
- 12:43Mary Fisk-Taylor: But sometimes I just want to give and I don't want to be recognized for it.
- 12:46Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't, you know what I mean.
- 12:47Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't know if I, if somebody needs, or if there's a I just just giving is giving.
- 12:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I think it's the same thing, kind of with a, with a creative or a personal project, like sometimes you just need it And I don't know if I need it.
- 13:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I feel like I'm getting there, like I've never felt, because this was actually my idea, which is the craziest part of all And I think people are like wait a minute, mary Fitzdaler is talking about doing something that's not, that doesn't involve anything, not a trophy, not money, not anything just doing.
- 13:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I guess I'm trying to understand why do we need to do it?
- 13:23Mary Fisk-Taylor: Does that make sense, like what is the what?
- 13:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: what purpose does it serve?
- 13:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: And coming from a place of full ignorance, i've never really done it.
- 13:33Kira Derryberry: Oh huh.
- 13:35Kira Derryberry: Well, that's a great question, because I have done it.
- 13:38Kira Derryberry: I've made lots of art projects with no end in sight.
- 13:42Kira Derryberry: You know what I mean, and I guess for me there is a sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
- 13:50Kira Derryberry: There's a sense of stretching myself and challenging myself to see if I could do something.
- 13:54Kira Derryberry: Most of the time, if I'm doing a creative project for myself, when I did them, it was to try something out, to see if I could do something, to push myself creatively, to try a new tool, to try a new lighting, to try a new concept, and that was what drove me.
- 14:11Kira Derryberry: Can I do it?
- 14:12Kira Derryberry: Yes, i can do it.
- 14:13Kira Derryberry: What a relief.
- 14:15Kira Derryberry: You know what I mean.
- 14:16Kira Derryberry: And not only can I do it, but I can do it with some skill, so that it is art.
- 14:22Kira Derryberry: I have always enjoyed creating pieces like that for me because it made me happy.
- 14:27Kira Derryberry: I did a lot of it during the pandemic with my collage work with no real point at the end, but it's still something I want to pursue.
- 14:35Kira Derryberry: But I loved that.
- 14:37Mary Fisk-Taylor: By the way, i loved that.
- 14:38Mary Fisk-Taylor: I really loved.
- 14:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know, i did.
- 14:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: I really really enjoyed that work you were doing.
- 14:44Mary Fisk-Taylor: I forgot about that I forgot about that, see Gosh, and that was so cool.
- 14:48Mary Fisk-Taylor: And this was mixed media.
- 14:50Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, it wasn't, it was all done digitally, right?
- 14:54Kira Derryberry: It was all done digitally.
- 14:54Kira Derryberry: But what I would love to do, i want to actually do it as a physical.
- 14:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: That's what I want.
- 14:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: I want one of those.
- 15:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: I would buy one of those.
- 15:01Kira Derryberry: Well, I think so, But then again I can't make something with the.
- 15:06Kira Derryberry: It's the same thing like when I used to do creative projects.
- 15:09Kira Derryberry: I can't shoot it for competition, For you know what I mean When I would do something that was different and was a creative project.
- 15:16Kira Derryberry: Everybody's like oh yeah, so what are you shooting for competition?
- 15:18Kira Derryberry: It will not work if I have this goal of putting it and having it scored.
- 15:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: Right Later percent.
- 15:26Kira Derryberry: It won't work.
- 15:26Kira Derryberry: Too much pressure, i'll get to my head about it.
- 15:28Kira Derryberry: No, so there were times where I didn't.
- 15:31Kira Derryberry: You know, i put images in that were not client work.
- 15:33Kira Derryberry: There were personal projects, but they were not designed to get me that merit, right?
- 15:37Kira Derryberry: You know what I mean.
- 15:38Kira Derryberry: And so I say that you got excited when you're like, oh yeah, that's the kind of art that I would buy, and I go, oh yeah, i think so too.
- 15:44Kira Derryberry: But then I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 15:46Kira Derryberry: I cannot put that out there, because the first step is to like can I do it?
- 15:52Kira Derryberry: I have a vision in my head for what it needs to look like.
- 15:55Kira Derryberry: It will take practice, it will take being able to work on it continuously for a length of time, and that's the part that scares me too.
- 16:05Kira Derryberry: Yeah, because I don't have a continuous amount.
- 16:08Kira Derryberry: My days are broken up into little, small increments of working on a dozen things that you know on any given day.
- 16:14Kira Derryberry: So the thought of like, locking myself in a room with some paint in a printer you know what I mean Like, because that's what it'll take.
- 16:21Kira Derryberry: It'll take a big printer, you know a big, high end printer, so that I can print the pieces I need and paint on them.
- 16:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh, wow Yeah.
- 16:29Kira Derryberry: And so it's a big.
- 16:30Kira Derryberry: it's a big thing, but I want to do it so bad I just I basically will have to retire to be able to do it.
- 16:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: Or or no, I don't know about the printer piece, might have to work it, but I do think, oh, okay, see, no see.
- 16:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: I immediately went to a place of, oh, create something it doesn't need to be, because I'm thinking, oh my God, i would love to do that.
- 16:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: Like we're getting ready to hold our brush oil workshop, which I'm so excited about, but I don't brush oil paint, Don't even know that I really want to.
- 16:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, not really even super interested.
- 17:02Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know what I mean Like.
- 17:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: But like what you're talking about, i would do that in a heartbeat.
- 17:06Mary Fisk-Taylor: I would sign up because that's something I feel like I could do.
- 17:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: I feel like I could create, put stuff together And I, mine, would have a lot of letters that like words involved And I love that, like I love Ashley Longshore, like, yeah, like that type of stuff.
- 17:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: I love, love, love.
- 17:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I mean like I would sign up and go to a retreat or go do something, not a retreat, like it's just five amazing friends that we just did that.
- 17:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: I would sign up and do that in a heartbeat.
- 17:29Mary Fisk-Taylor: But that's not even what you're talking about.
- 17:31Mary Fisk-Taylor: You're talking about a personal project.
- 17:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: See, i don't know why I can't wrap my head around this piece And I know this sounds silly because so many of you all out there are so incredibly creative and your artists and things.
- 17:42Mary Fisk-Taylor: And I really struggle, guys.
- 17:43Mary Fisk-Taylor: I really struggle to put myself in that creative space And the older I get, the harder it is.
- 17:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's so much harder.
- 17:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: I spend so much time worrying about hitting my monthly goals and moving and marketing and this and that, and now digital marketing, and now you know I just I want to do better And I don't know I was just like is there some processes or is there something you could do to put yourself in that better creative space?
- 18:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: I used to be.
- 18:10Kira Derryberry: I don't, i don't, well one.
- 18:11Kira Derryberry: I think let's give ourselves some grace.
- 18:13Mary Fisk-Taylor: We have to have the answers on that.
- 18:15Kira Derryberry: You know what I mean, Because our lives are not set up in a way that is open to this yet Right?
- 18:21Kira Derryberry: So first we have to figure out is it something that we can do?
- 18:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: Correct.
- 18:26Kira Derryberry: And is it something?
- 18:26Kira Derryberry: if we can do it?
- 18:27Kira Derryberry: Where does it fit in?
- 18:29Kira Derryberry: Right, because I love you are so like end in mind person.
- 18:34Kira Derryberry: I am right, and we're taught this like seven habits.
- 18:38Kira Derryberry: Right, like this is part of why we both have great businesses.
- 18:42Kira Derryberry: It's part of why we've been, you know, we've done okay at leadership.
- 18:46Kira Derryberry: You know what I mean, but it's but it's, you know.
- 18:49Kira Derryberry: It's because when we talk about big concepts, i mean this is like a.
- 18:52Kira Derryberry: This is a big rock, right, this is a.
- 18:54Kira Derryberry: This is a piece that doesn't fit into our lives currently.
- 18:56Kira Derryberry: Correct.
- 18:56Kira Derryberry: So the problem I have that is the reason I never launch.
- 19:02Kira Derryberry: It is because I don't want to have the end in mind on this, like okay, and you cannot pull yourself off of the end in mind part.
- 19:10Kira Derryberry: Correct.
- 19:11Kira Derryberry: Like where is this going to go?
- 19:12Kira Derryberry: How is it going to look?
- 19:14Kira Derryberry: Where can we do it?
- 19:15Kira Derryberry: And how will we make money at it, And which is okay, because that's that's yeah who?
- 19:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: we are right.
- 19:22Kira Derryberry: Yeah, but to me, the idea of waking up on a morning, having a cup of coffee, going into a studio space with a can you know, a big easel or a canvas and a print like a black and white print on it and then spending the day like painting on it at my own pace, with no interruptions, with like music going, sounds flipping amazing.
- 19:44Kira Derryberry: That sounds like.
- 19:45Kira Derryberry: That sounds like so much fun to me.
- 19:47Kira Derryberry: But the I don't know.
- 19:49Kira Derryberry: I don't have a space to do that unless I cleaned out our back room, which is possibility to.
- 19:55Kira Derryberry: I don't have the printer because it's going to take lots and lots of prints and I'm not going to pay.
- 20:00Kira Derryberry: I'm not going to print that at a lab and have it come back and then Because you don't know what you want until you get into it, i got to get into it, i got to play with it right, and I want to do it at a large scale.
- 20:08Kira Derryberry: So these I have a large printer?
- 20:10Kira Derryberry: Yeah, it's got to have a large printer.
- 20:12Kira Derryberry: I've literally almost bought a can of printer like half a dozen times thinking for this one idea, because it doesn't make sense for me to print stuff here for my, you know for no, i agree.
- 20:22Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, not any commercial.
- 20:23Kira Derryberry: I can't justify it Like.
- 20:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: I know I also use it.
- 20:26Kira Derryberry: No, because we don't frame here.
- 20:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: Is there a space that you can rent like an art space, a creativity space that has all those things that you could just rent for the day and you go in and put your music on and you go, maybe?
- 20:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean I'm not.
- 20:38Kira Derryberry: I bet there are places like oh sure, My dad probably has places Yeah.
- 20:42Kira Derryberry: Like a lot of stuff, but also there's a art park here in town, right, That I could look into.
- 20:46Kira Derryberry: But I don't, you know, i would also be a little vulnerable with this and I don't think I'd want to do it in front of people.
- 20:52Kira Derryberry: I understand I could see that.
- 20:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: I would need there, by the way, i mean I wouldn't need there because it has to be very I mean, and that's how you would do it.
- 21:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: Other people it might be different, it might be, you know, a photography project or whatever.
- 21:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: I just I think that I, i think, and I'm not.
- 21:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: I am not upset with myself, i am not down on myself, so I, you know, i'm not, but I think I've become so incredibly goal oriented and starting with the end in mind driven that I don't know if I'm enjoying the journey anymore.
- 21:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: And I and sometimes the journey is just get up.
- 21:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: So this is what I tried to do yesterday.
- 21:31Mary Fisk-Taylor: This is how I ended up making 50 bracelets.
- 21:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I did.
- 21:34Mary Fisk-Taylor: I had nothing on my schedule yesterday Nothing.
- 21:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: And, guys, when you like nothing, i can't tell you a time where I was not Had a session, had a consultation call, was on a flight, was going to a concert, was with a family event, doing a retreat.
- 21:50Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean I had nothing.
- 21:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: And it was Father's Day and my son is in here and Alex and Darrell were going to see Ridiculously stupid movies that I would never in a million years go see.
- 22:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was like I tried trying to tell Jackson.
- 22:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: I got the name so confused.
- 22:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was like they the impossible flash in the beasts and he's like that.
- 22:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: Those aren't movies, it was anyway it was the flash and it was something else, like transformers, but I was confusing them.
- 22:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know, it's like the transforming flashes and he's like that's.
- 22:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: That's not a movie.
- 22:18Mary Fisk-Taylor: And Darrell and Alex, they had their own dad and daughter time.
- 22:23Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was fantastic and I was home for by myself because they did two movies.
- 22:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: They did it too.
- 22:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was a big day in this house, hmm, um, so I was me and I sat here and I was paralyzed by Just didn't even know what to do.
- 22:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: I I don't think I watched a movie and did not.
- 22:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: I Was an also reading a book or on my computer.
- 22:46Kira Derryberry: You watch.
- 22:47Kira Derryberry: I just want to be clear you didn't, you didn't also.
- 22:49Kira Derryberry: Okay, you watched a movie and I and you didn't play on your phone.
- 22:53Mary Fisk-Taylor: I didn't read a book and I didn't get on my computer I can't tell you the last time I want and like, said, what'd you watch?
- 22:58Mary Fisk-Taylor: Um, it was a really bad.
- 23:01Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was called.
- 23:02Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh, no, it was cute, it was.
- 23:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: Um, it was a movie with.
- 23:06Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was on Netflix.
- 23:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was the guy from Third row.
- 23:11Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, my golly John, let's go no close.
- 23:16Mary Fisk-Taylor: The.
- 23:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: What was that?
- 23:18Mary Fisk-Taylor: should big bang?
- 23:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: you know the guy from Big Bang?
- 23:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, the Sheldon.
- 23:22Mary Fisk-Taylor: Sheldon, it was him, and And about him and his partner and it was a.
- 23:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was a really cute.
- 23:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: It was a sad movie, unfortunately.
- 23:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: I didn't mean to watch a sad movie, but I really like him and I watched the whole thing.
- 23:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't remember the name of it, but I watched it.
- 23:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: I can tell you exactly what, how Sully Field was in it.
- 23:37Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's like I remember all the pieces.
- 23:38Mary Fisk-Taylor: I watched two movies and then I watched another, pretty Marge.
- 23:43Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was with Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon.
- 23:46Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know I love Reese Witherspoon.
- 23:48Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh, i saw that one.
- 23:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, my place or your brother's or something like that.
- 23:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, i watched now the second movie.
- 23:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was.
- 23:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was bracelet.
- 23:53Kira Derryberry: I love a rom-com.
- 23:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was.
- 23:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: I do love a rom-com.
- 23:55Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was doing bracelets during this that's.
- 23:58Kira Derryberry: That's the kind of thing I mean.
- 23:59Kira Derryberry: I could.
- 23:59Kira Derryberry: I, as long as you're not playing on your front like I could.
- 24:02Kira Derryberry: I could do a craft and watch a movie.
- 24:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, I could you know I mean but you know, I normally watch TV and I'm reading.
- 24:09Kira Derryberry: I don't know how you do that.
- 24:09Kira Derryberry: I can't.
- 24:14Kira Derryberry: My problem is, it's like when I try to read, i just have to reread the same sentence, because my brain just goes.
- 24:18Kira Derryberry: It's almost like a meditation, oh, and so like I don't, i don't even take in what I'm reading.
- 24:23Kira Derryberry: I'm just like I start thinking about something, but my eyes are reading and then I go wait, what did I just read?
- 24:29Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, I do know what you're talking about.
- 24:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: I've definitely read like that.
- 24:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, i've definitely done that before.
- 24:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: I like, if I'm and sometimes it's because I'm rereading I'm, you know, rereading.
- 24:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: Like you know, i just have some new business books in that I'm super excited about.
- 24:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I was so, tim to just you to pick one.
- 24:41Mary Fisk-Taylor: Stop it.
- 24:42Mary Fisk-Taylor: That was so you know.
- 24:46Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I didn't.
- 24:46Mary Fisk-Taylor: I made myself just sit there and just stare at a movie and I really enjoyed it.
- 24:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I did.
- 24:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: I was like I would every once in a while think, wait a minute, i can't just sit here and just watch a movie.
- 24:57Mary Fisk-Taylor: What do I think?
- 24:58Mary Fisk-Taylor: Who do I think I am, you know, queen of Sheba I don't even that's a real thing but so Then the personal project conversation, and I thought you know it is important and, and and it's not something, it's something I'm so out of touch with that I wouldn't even know where to start.
- 25:13Mary Fisk-Taylor: At least You know where you would start I.
- 25:17Kira Derryberry: Feel, you know, it's scary about it is I feel like I would buy this printer because I don't see a way to do it without having a printer, because I can't do it small, yeah, you know.
- 25:26Kira Derryberry: So I'd buy this printer because it would kill me to like, try this on like an expensive print that I paid for from the lab, right, yeah, on the right kind of paper to be able to hold it, and I they would have to be some experimenting on the paper type.
- 25:40Kira Derryberry: Yeah they have to be all that Um, But I would buy the printer and then I would do one and I would go.
- 25:46Kira Derryberry: You know what this is.
- 25:48Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, i don't even like it, i don't even enjoy it.
- 25:50Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't even say you would have to almost find a space that had everything that you could rent and To make sure.
- 25:56Mary Fisk-Taylor: and then you know, like if you print the space more than once or twice, you're like, okay, maybe I'm on to something here, like I think that's almost how you would have to do it.
- 26:02Kira Derryberry: I Just want to clean out this back room in the other side of the studio.
- 26:07Kira Derryberry: Yeah put the printer in there.
- 26:10Mary Fisk-Taylor: I Don't think we should buy a printer for something that we're not doing, though I do have to.
- 26:14Kira Derryberry: Yeah, see, there's, there's.
- 26:16Kira Derryberry: There's the rough, i know so that would be yours.
- 26:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't even know what mine would be, but I, i, i love, i love yours, i love yours a lot.
- 26:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: I think that's fantastic.
- 26:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't know what mine would be and you know, maybe it's not.
- 26:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, does a personal product?
- 26:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: here's another question Does a personal project Does it?
- 26:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean it certainly, guys, doesn't have to even involve a camera, it doesn't have to even involve Oh, no, no, no, no, so what?
- 26:38Mary Fisk-Taylor: are other kinds of you know, i don't know.
- 26:42Mary Fisk-Taylor: I feel like I've just become I don't know.
- 26:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: I feel like I've become almost fear is a big word, but it's like I'm almost afraid to even try or do anything, start anything different, because I just feel I don't know, i'm like everything's fine, why don't I want to?
- 26:56Kira Derryberry: I don't know, muck it up by trying something new.
- 26:59Kira Derryberry: You know you should do, you should learn how to play a ukulele And I'm not joking, it is so fun, okay, and you can, and you can, they're not expensive And you can watch YouTube videos and you can learn how to play all the Dave Matthews songs on a ukulele.
- 27:14Kira Derryberry: And that sounds like a great personal project to me.
- 27:18Kira Derryberry: I love, i love an instrument I have never played an instrument in my life, but I don't.
- 27:23Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm not against it Like I'm not against any of it Like I.
- 27:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I feel like I'm trying really hard to be more open about these things and not, yeah, there was a time in my life where it was just really cool to just hate things.
- 27:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: I would never sing, I'll never do these things, But you know that's a great idea, And Dave plays a ukulele, by the way, he has this tiny little guitar that he'll play certain songs on.
- 27:43Kira Derryberry: Ukuleles are so fun And you don't have to be incredibly skilled.
- 27:46Kira Derryberry: You can learn like three notes on a ukulele and you'll play so many songs.
- 27:50Kira Derryberry: Okay, you know what I mean.
- 27:52Kira Derryberry: How does it work?
- 27:52Kira Derryberry: There's all these fingernails.
- 27:53Mary Fisk-Taylor: Can you have fingernails?
- 27:54Kira Derryberry: Well, your fingernails aren't, aren't they long at all?
- 27:56Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, no, you'd be fine.
- 27:57Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, i might do that, guys.
- 27:59Mary Fisk-Taylor: So I can't wait to see her.
- 28:02Mary Fisk-Taylor: You, i well, because you know me and you're the same way.
- 28:05Mary Fisk-Taylor: You can't just go in, we're going to go all in.
- 28:07Kira Derryberry: It's like I can't just be beating bracelets.
- 28:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: I now have an entire.
- 28:10Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's a.
- 28:12Mary Fisk-Taylor: She's got a shackle box of every beat, every letter, every everything you can ever want.
- 28:18Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, it's insane.
- 28:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's going to get your shoot together bag, though.
- 28:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: Take that much.
- 28:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, i'm going to look into this option for my life.
- 28:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm going to look into it.
- 28:26Kira Derryberry: I mean, i'm not.
- 28:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: I love that idea though.
- 28:30Kira Derryberry: It's I.
- 28:31Kira Derryberry: I bought one during the pandemic and I used to, but I used to play guitar.
- 28:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, you do, And I.
- 28:37Kira Derryberry: I found.
- 28:37Kira Derryberry: I found the chords to be fairly different enough from guitar and small.
- 28:43Kira Derryberry: There's not as many strings on it too, So that's less intimidating, right Like there's, I think there's like four on it, but I found it.
- 28:51Kira Derryberry: I really had to learn notes.
- 28:53Kira Derryberry: It doesn't play like a guitar does in my mind you know what I mean, So it was kind of like learning new for me.
- 28:58Mary Fisk-Taylor: I never played the guitar, so it won't be any confusion.
- 29:00Kira Derryberry: Well, and you don't have, and you don't have to have the kind of handstrings like you do for guitar too, because it's so small and the strings are light.
- 29:06Kira Derryberry: So and there and there's so many like beginner YouTube or or TikTok channels where it's like you know learn to play the ukulele.
- 29:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know I've never thought of this in a million years, but I love this idea.
- 29:19Kira Derryberry: I wish you guys could talk to us.
- 29:20Kira Derryberry: I want to go what do y'all think?
- 29:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: I think it's a terrible idea.
- 29:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm here.
- 29:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: No, i like it.
- 29:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, my kids are going to make fun of me for sure.
- 29:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know what I?
- 29:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: if they do, you send them to me, i am I am.
- 29:33Kira Derryberry: I'll give them a swift.
- 29:33Kira Derryberry: A swift smack, a swift kick in the moody.
- 29:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, no, i like it.
- 29:44Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, that is, that's a see, so that's great.
- 29:46Mary Fisk-Taylor: So maybe the maybe, the point of this is if this, if you guys are feeling any blocks or you're not you know what I mean Or you're not just make a, you know, reach out to you or hopefully you have that accountability group out there but reach out and say, okay, let's think of ways that we can do this, because I think I like that idea a lot And I'd like it a lot more, as I think I like it a lot more than you probably even thought I would.
- 30:10Mary Fisk-Taylor: I think did you think.
- 30:11Kira Derryberry: Did you think I was going to say that's the stupidest idea?
- 30:13Kira Derryberry: or laugh at you Kind of?
- 30:14Kira Derryberry: I thought you'd be like okay.
- 30:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: Talk about doing things like when you were in fifth grade or eighth grade.
- 30:24Kira Derryberry: Oh, this is a dumb idea.
- 30:26Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, i know, okay, i like it.
- 30:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: And because music is live, music is becoming such a bigger part of my life, because my kids are, you know, i have to find something to do and music is my golf, you know.
- 30:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: And meaning I don't, you know, i don't play tennis anymore and I don't do those things, so but I was, i have played with the idea of learning pickleball.
- 30:46Kira Derryberry: Actually I'm not opposed to that too.
- 30:48Kira Derryberry: Like everyone's playing it.
- 30:49Kira Derryberry: Kevin asked me the other day if I wanted to learn how to play pickleball.
- 30:52Kira Derryberry: I'm not opposed to it.
- 30:53Kira Derryberry: I think you would love it.
- 30:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: Honestly because our volume studio.
- 30:57Mary Fisk-Taylor: They do a big fundraiser.
- 30:58Mary Fisk-Taylor: There's one of our dear friends has started.
- 31:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's called Laser's Ladybugs and it's for mental health, specifically in children.
- 31:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: They've been holding these pickleball tournaments and they raise money for mental health in children.
- 31:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: I love John, him and his wife Renee who started it.
- 31:12Mary Fisk-Taylor: They're starting a facility.
- 31:13Mary Fisk-Taylor: They really want us to play.
- 31:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm like and I loved tennis when I played tennis And I think I'm maybe up to my tennis days are over, but I might like pickleball, i don't know.
- 31:24Kira Derryberry: I don't know.
- 31:24Kira Derryberry: I honestly, it's been explained to me like nine times.
- 31:27Kira Derryberry: I never tell them.
- 31:27Kira Derryberry: I'm like, yeah, say less, Like I'll just go, I don't I still don't know what you're saying, but just put me out there, put me in coach and just tell me what to do when I'm out there.
- 31:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't want.
- 31:36Kira Derryberry: I can't conceptualize pickleball, for some reason.
- 31:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: Like.
- 31:39Kira Derryberry: I've never seen it played.
- 31:40Kira Derryberry: Okay, i people just love it and they're like you should come.
- 31:43Kira Derryberry: And then they tell me what you do And I'm just like, literally I could go on a tennis court and you can throw pickles at me And I'll be like okay, do I toss it back?
- 31:49Kira Derryberry: Is that?
- 31:51Kira Derryberry: is that what?
- 31:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: we're doing Yeah Cause I'm in.
- 31:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, it actually does.
- 31:53Mary Fisk-Taylor: It surprisingly does not involve any pickles.
- 31:55Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well news to me No, i think you and Kevin would love pickleball.
- 32:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: That's really a really great thing, and it's.
- 32:02Kira Derryberry: It's an activity screen.
- 32:04Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't think the ball is even green.
- 32:05Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't know why they call it pickleball.
- 32:07Mary Fisk-Taylor: Maybe I thought it was more like it's a small little space and, like you know, you say put me in a pickle put me in a pickle.
- 32:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know, you know, like, say put me, i, I don't know Wonder why they call it pickleball.
- 32:23Mary Fisk-Taylor: We're gonna have to do some research on that.
- 32:25Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm going to some weird places, i know I'm like huh, this is a very interesting conversation.
- 32:28Mary Fisk-Taylor: We're having it all but pickleball.
- 32:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: But anyway, i might, but I, the music thing, i, i think I might, i think I might try it.
- 32:36Mary Fisk-Taylor: I might try it.
- 32:37Kira Derryberry: I've already.
- 32:37Kira Derryberry: I've already found you.
- 32:38Kira Derryberry: Look, i'm already, i've already Googled Eucalylate, Eucalylate's for you.
- 32:42Kira Derryberry: Yes, i'm, i'm texting you a link right now.
- 32:44Kira Derryberry: There's some pretty ones.
- 32:44Kira Derryberry: Oh, i love it They.
- 32:45Kira Derryberry: They come in like basically a range of of prices and quality.
- 32:49Kira Derryberry: You know what I?
- 32:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: mean I should start kind of low, i don't need a.
- 32:52Kira Derryberry: Yeah, these are probably not super cheap.
- 32:54Kira Derryberry: I have no idea, but this is a brand called Luna guitars, okay, and they do have them at the music store, i believe, next door to my studio.
- 33:06Kira Derryberry: Oh, nice, but anyway, they're adorable.
- 33:11Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, i got some pretty ones.
- 33:12Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, i'm going to definitely be checking that out.
- 33:14Mary Fisk-Taylor: What was the name of the company?
- 33:15Mary Fisk-Taylor: you said Luna, luna guitars.
- 33:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: Okay, luna guitars.
- 33:18Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh, you're going to text me, so I'll look at that.
- 33:20Mary Fisk-Taylor: I did Well, i like it.
- 33:22Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well, personal projects And anyway, i do think it's important And I think that I think I've discounted them And I think I'm going to stop doing that.
- 33:29Mary Fisk-Taylor: I think it's.
- 33:30Kira Derryberry: Well, I think that's really nice of you to say.
- 33:33Kira Derryberry: sometimes I say stuff and I'm I brace my stuff, for her to be like okay, Kira, but you need to make money.
- 33:39Kira Derryberry: Okay, I know.
- 33:40Mary Fisk-Taylor: I know And I still feel that way.
- 33:42Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know I feel that way, But I think that I feel that way is why I never do it.
- 33:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: But do you think that sometimes, if you really, if you get a great personal project and it's inspiring you, that it makes you, it feels you how do I put this?
- 33:55Mary Fisk-Taylor: But because you're getting fulfillment from that, that it makes you more productive in these other areas, Does that make sense?
- 34:02Mary Fisk-Taylor: Like if you are kind of just feeling in a rut, meaning just day you're not doing anything that's fulfilling you creatively?
- 34:08Mary Fisk-Taylor: Do you feel like it takes away from your ability to be a great business owner, marketer, producer, you know precision photographer or whatever, Because you're feeling kind of you're going through the motions but you're losing that spark?
- 34:23Kira Derryberry: so to speak.
- 34:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: Does that?
- 34:24Kira Derryberry: make sense.
- 34:25Kira Derryberry: Yeah, So if you're kind of feeding that beast, you can get through the other stuff a little more happily.
- 34:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: you know, maybe Yeah, i'm asking, i don't know.
- 34:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, it seems to make sense, right.
- 34:33Mary Fisk-Taylor: Happy, you know.
- 34:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: happy people, you know, work more productively, they sleep better, they, you know, right, i mean, that's you know, is that true?
- 34:42Kira Derryberry: But there's also another, there's another.
- 34:44Kira Derryberry: Here's another idea.
- 34:46Kira Derryberry: I could be setting myself up in the next few years where I could hire people to do the work that I do all the time.
- 34:54Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah.
- 34:55Kira Derryberry: And then I could do what I wanted, correct And be the principal person, and that concept has been told to me multiple times by you and many of our other friends.
- 35:03Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah.
- 35:05Kira Derryberry: And it's real hard.
- 35:06Kira Derryberry: It's a real hard concept to grasp because I'll have, like like photographer friends who be like no, you need to set yourself up so you can take time off, and like, when you leave the business, like people are still working And and then I'll run it by like a friend who's not in the business.
- 35:19Kira Derryberry: You know like I'll just be like no people want to work with you, like they.
- 35:23Kira Derryberry: You know, like they.
- 35:24Mary Fisk-Taylor: And I know that's true, they do, but don't you see where we go?
- 35:27Mary Fisk-Taylor: I agree, i 100% agree.
- 35:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: However, if you, if you take your name out of it and you create a business that would run without you in it, you're in it.
- 35:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know what I mean?
- 35:39Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yeah, boy, i mean isn't?
- 35:42Kira Derryberry: that all of our dream.
- 35:43Mary Fisk-Taylor: I mean, i am, i did not do that, but, boy, i really thought about it, and that's certainly what we did with our volume business.
- 35:49Mary Fisk-Taylor: Do they love it now that they know Andy or I or my mom and they show up?
- 35:52Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yes, but if we didn't, we still are making money, it's just a different.
- 35:57Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's hard And because I think that sometimes, as creators, we get offended by the motion, the notion like, oh, if I don't, it's like people that say, if I don't edit it myself or retouch it myself, it's not my work.
- 36:09Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well, no, it actually is Like you created it, you posed it, you lit it, you know, unless your work is painting or what have you.
- 36:14Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I mean, yes, people love Curandairy Berry, but people are also going to be able to love a headshot by you know.
- 36:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: You know, rookie, if he came in which he's, he's not, he's not currently open for that.
- 36:27Kira Derryberry: He doesn't have posable thumbs.
- 36:30Mary Fisk-Taylor: So it's gonna be the first problem.
- 36:31Mary Fisk-Taylor: Well, the good news, guys, is we're going to take a month off.
- 36:34Mary Fisk-Taylor: We're getting ready to take the month of July off from pot, just from podcasting.
- 36:38Mary Fisk-Taylor: But we're going to see when we come back in August if we have ukulele lead, if we have created our personal projects and where we are with them.
- 36:47Mary Fisk-Taylor: We're going to see if rookie thumb situation changes, which it's highly doubtful at this age.
- 36:51Kira Derryberry: Yeah, i'm going to.
- 36:51Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm going to jump ahead and say now, It has been a long day because I find here I you know Curandairy Berry is 98% funny.
- 37:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: But I am getting a lot of laughs Today it's 100, like real laughs, like it's 100% funny today, i think, because everything's been so heavy today that it's just nice to talk about things that are just kind of nonsensical, like it's like that's important.
- 37:16Kira Derryberry: No, it's not.
- 37:17Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's not, but it's like it's not.
- 37:18Mary Fisk-Taylor: I'm not making any.
- 37:19Mary Fisk-Taylor: I don't know making any decisions here.
- 37:21Mary Fisk-Taylor: We're just talking about something that could be great.
- 37:24Kira Derryberry: Could be great, Yeah, But you know the whole failure to launch thing.
- 37:29Kira Derryberry: So we have to do some sort of true.
- 37:32Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yours is so so attainable, so attainable.
- 37:35Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yes, i'm going to do it, so you're going to look at them right now, as we speak.
- 37:38Kira Derryberry: Yeah, keep scrolling down that page, or some keep it.
- 37:40Kira Derryberry: I'm looking, i'm looking.
- 37:42Kira Derryberry: Mine is a little harder to do.
- 37:44Mary Fisk-Taylor: Yours is a little different.
- 37:45Mary Fisk-Taylor: It's a little different, but I'm going to find you a place, a space that you can go and just be in for two days.
- 37:49Kira Derryberry: And just do it.
- 37:50Kira Derryberry: Just do it.
- 37:50Kira Derryberry: It's got to have air conditioning Fair.
- 37:53Mary Fisk-Taylor: Oh my God, I was looking at this Starry Night one on another site.
- 37:55Mary Fisk-Taylor: That's exactly what I'm going to buy, oh good.
- 37:59Kira Derryberry: How cute.
- 38:00Mary Fisk-Taylor: OK, me OK.
- 38:02Kira Derryberry: I thought you were going to like the one with the ocean wave on it.
