  Speaker 1: Now a little background. We were introduced to the centurion
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: earlier in this chapter. He was a devout man, He
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: was faithful, and a memorial of him went up into
• 6:00
  Speaker 1: heaven before God. How awesome is that? That shows us
• 6:04
  Speaker 1: that God does not forget about our works and our deeds.
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: Does God have a memorial of us? That's a question.
• 6:13
  Speaker 1: Do you have a memorial in heaven before God like
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: this man. Well, I think it's about time to get one.
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: We can just do what this man did in the scripture. Right.
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: He was a giver, He paid his ties, his offerings,
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: he donated. He had a disciplined prayer life. He was
• 6:36
  Speaker 1: studying the word. He was a seeker and he was devout.
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: This he was a man of authority. He was probably
• 6:43
  Speaker 1: like a centurion. I believe it's like a captain in
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: the Roman army. And he was a gentile. Now, this
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: gentile brother and showing us how to be a good example.
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: He's a good example. And we're reading about him centuries later.
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: Look at how orworful and faithful lifestyle can be. This
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: book was written almost about two thousand years ago. We're
• 7:07
  Speaker 1: still amazed and reading about this centurion. It was faithful
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: to the God of Israel. Hallelujah. And so I prayed
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: that that was rub off on us, right, hallelujah. And
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: so an angel appeared before this man told him to
• 7:30
  Speaker 1: send down people to go get Peter. Now the angel
• 7:34
  Speaker 1: didn't preach to the man himself. The guy uses humans
• 7:39
  Speaker 1: to save other humans. Amen. And so now we're gonna
• 7:43
  Speaker 1: pick it up on the side of well Peter. The
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: last episode, also Peter had a vision of a food
• 7:54
  Speaker 1: that was considered uncleaned, that was not kosher in the
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: Jewish commune unity. And God was preparing Peter for this encounter.

  Speaker 1: And this is where we're going to see the Gentiles
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: enter into the kingdom. Hallelujah. More walls are breaking down
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: and is being done by God Almighty, hallelujah. All right,

  Speaker 1: So that's where we pick up. And so Peter just
• 8:26
  Speaker 1: had this vision. In verse seventeen, it says, now while
• 8:30
  Speaker 1: Peter wondered within himself what this this, what this vision
• 8:38
  Speaker 1: which he had seen meant. So basically he was wondering,
• 8:44
  Speaker 1: what does this mean? Behold, the men who had been
• 8:47
  Speaker 1: sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house and
• 8:54
  Speaker 1: stood before the gate. Now pray with me, brothers, because
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: my sinus is that been. I don't know if you
• 9:01
  Speaker 1: guys can tell. I just left the gym trying to
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: sweat it out. But there's a little something in the
• 9:08
  Speaker 1: air out here in Vegas. My pastor was fighting off
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: a little bug. I mean, I'm not really sick or anything,
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: but my sinuses are kind of acting up. A little bit,
• 9:20
  Speaker 1: but hallelujah, we're gonna get through this. Holy Spirit, give
• 9:24
  Speaker 1: me strength, stripped of my voice, stripped my ear waves.
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: We apply the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah. Amen, hallelujah. Say look,

  Speaker 1: thank you Holy Spirit. I can breathe even better right now,
• 9:39
  Speaker 1: Thank you God, miracles, signs and wonders. Thank you Lord, hallelujah.

  Speaker 1: Give me a second. I just gotta give God praise

  Speaker 1: because I'm breathing better. Hallelujah. Just right after that prayer.

  Speaker 1: but that is a Holy Spirit and I want to

  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit, let's continue. So now while let me read

  Speaker 1: it again. Now, while Peter wondered within himself or what
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: this vision which he had has seen meant, Behold, the
• 10:23
  Speaker 1: men have been the men who have been sent from
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: Delians have been inquired of Simon's house and stood be
• 10:31
  Speaker 1: for the gate. Now Peter had received a vision, but
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: not yet the understanding. God often allows events to unfold
• 10:44
  Speaker 1: to bring clarity. Sometimes we get a vision, sometimes will
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: get a prophecy spoken to us, and sometimes we don't
• 10:56
  Speaker 1: get the full understanding until God actually reveals it to us.

  Speaker 1: Right now. Notice this, Peter was sitting at the top
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: of this housetop and he saw the vision but did
• 11:10
  Speaker 1: not fully get the understanding. All the way, the revelation
• 11:15
  Speaker 1: doesn't always come with immediate explanation. Peter is still thinking.
• 11:22
  Speaker 1: He's still wondering, what does this mean? Right? And I
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: can totally relate, like, you know, I would be doing
• 11:29
  Speaker 1: the same thing, I imagine. And while he's wondering, God
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: is already moving the pieces. You know, I just think
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: of a chess game, right, You gotta put each piece
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: in a strategic position for the next move. And at
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: the same time Peter is confused on the rooftop, gentile
• 11:53
  Speaker 1: men are standing right there at the gate. God's timing
• 11:58
  Speaker 1: is flawless, beloved, like right when he got this vision. Imagine,
• 12:03
  Speaker 1: this angel appears to Connelius. Cornelius calls this group to go.
• 12:11
  Speaker 1: As they stepped foot in the direction of Peter's house.
• 12:18
  Speaker 1: God waits, he waits, He waits until they get right
• 12:22
  Speaker 1: up on the house and gives Peter the vision. And
• 12:26
  Speaker 1: as soon as Peter is finished, they are at the
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: gate like. That is amazing. Hallelujah. Our God is amazing.
• 12:37
  Speaker 1: Now He doesn't wait for us to fully figure everything
• 12:40
  Speaker 1: out right when he calls us, he just wants us
• 12:43
  Speaker 1: to be willing. That's all he needs is a willingness,
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: a willing heart from us. God has given us free will.
• 12:50
  Speaker 1: He's not gonna force us. So it's really important that
• 12:54
  Speaker 1: we need to pray for a willing heart to do
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: the will of God. Hallelujah. Yeah, ari verse eighteen, and

  Speaker 1: they called an answer and asked whether Simon, whose surname
• 13:10
  Speaker 1: was Peter, was lodging here. This is I think this
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: is amazing. Now, this was a holy interruption right here.
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: Peter's theology is being challenged on every level, and his
• 13:27
  Speaker 1: comfort is about to be tested. Now. The people he
• 13:34
  Speaker 1: once considered unclean are now calling for him by name,
• 13:41
  Speaker 1: the very people. Sometimes God answers are questions by sending
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: people instead of sending us explanations. Don't underestimate the people
• 13:54
  Speaker 1: that God sends into your life. That person could be
• 13:59
  Speaker 1: an answered prayer. That person can be a key person
• 14:06
  Speaker 1: in your life to fulfill destiny in your calling with God. Amen,
• 14:12
  Speaker 1: let's not be so quick to cut off relationships, into
• 14:17
  Speaker 1: dismiss people, and to judge people. Right, we got to
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: lead the judging to God. Amen, all right? Ninety ten twenty.

  Speaker 1: While Peter though thought about the vision, the Spirit said
• 14:34
  Speaker 1: to him, behold, three men are seeking you a rise.
• 14:38
  Speaker 1: Therefore go down and go with them, doubting nothing, for
• 14:42
  Speaker 1: I have sent them. Wow. Now imagine this for a second.
• 14:53
  Speaker 1: These are the apostles, right, the apostle Peter, one of
• 14:59
  Speaker 1: the apostles that was a natural born leader. They just
• 15:04
  Speaker 1: crucified Christ, right, our savior and our Messiah. Now the
• 15:11
  Speaker 1: Jews are looking to arrest and even kill everyone else
• 15:18
  Speaker 1: that follows in the way. Right, that's where we're going
• 15:23
  Speaker 1: to read about the apostle Paul. He persecuted the church.
• 15:27
  Speaker 1: He killed Christians as well. And so this person could
• 15:35
  Speaker 1: have been anybody, or this group could have been anybody.
• 15:39
  Speaker 1: You don't know if the Centurions, not the Centurions, but
• 15:43
  Speaker 1: the Sidhedron court sent soldiers out to assassinate Peter, you
• 15:51
  Speaker 1: know what I mean. It could have been a dangerous situation,
• 15:54
  Speaker 1: is the point I'm trying to make. But look at
• 15:56
  Speaker 1: how the Holy Spirit just explained the situation to him.
• 16:01
  Speaker 1: He's like, no, I sent them go with them and
• 16:05
  Speaker 1: doubt nothing. Now the directness of the Spirit's command right,
• 16:15
  Speaker 1: There is no abiguity in this. Only obedience is required.
• 16:24
  Speaker 1: Now this is powerful. Peter is still processing, but the
• 16:28
  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit interrupts his thoughts. God doesn't let confusion linger
• 16:34
  Speaker 1: at all. Matter of fact, the Bible says that Satan
• 16:37
  Speaker 1: is the author of confusion. Now the Spirit says, I
• 16:44
  Speaker 1: know who they are. I sent them go with them,
• 16:49
  Speaker 1: doubting nothing. That phrase doubting nothing is very key. Peter
• 16:56
  Speaker 1: is being told to walk before he fully understands the
• 17:01
  Speaker 1: entire situation. Faith doesn't always come with clarity, like we
• 17:06
  Speaker 1: mentioned this before. Sometimes clarity comes after faith. All we
• 17:15
  Speaker 1: have to do is be willing and obedient to the steps,
• 17:21
  Speaker 1: and then God will bring the understanding. That Peter went
• 17:26
  Speaker 1: down to the men who had been sent to him
• 17:30
  Speaker 1: from Connelius and said, yes, I am he whom you seek.
• 17:35
  Speaker 1: For what reason have you come that? Peter still didn't
• 17:41
  Speaker 1: know why these men came, so he goes to meet him.
• 17:48
  Speaker 1: Now that wasn't just a physical but a spiritual appointment
• 17:53
  Speaker 1: right here, right, and he steps out of his elevated
• 17:58
  Speaker 1: position on top of the rooftop and he meets these
• 18:02
  Speaker 1: men face to face. Now this is the first physical
• 18:08
  Speaker 1: act of obedience to the vision God has given him. Right,
• 18:13
  Speaker 1: so he just decides to trust and to be willing
• 18:18
  Speaker 1: to meet these men. Now, he doesn't interrogate these men
• 18:24
  Speaker 1: to try to figure out what's going on, right, And
• 18:28
  Speaker 1: he doesn't turn them away. He's not like, look, I'm busy,
• 18:32
  Speaker 1: I'm praying, I got stuff to do, I'm hungry, I'm
• 18:35
  Speaker 1: gonna go eat. No, he listens. He takes time out
• 18:40
  Speaker 1: to hear their hearts. Obedience opens the door to understanding.
• 18:49
  Speaker 1: So now he's getting the interpretation of the vision that
• 18:53
  Speaker 1: he was wondering about a few minutes ago. Right verse
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: twenty two, Then they said, Canelius, a centurion, a just man,
• 19:06
  Speaker 1: one who fears God and has a good reputation among
• 19:09
  Speaker 1: all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by
• 19:14
  Speaker 1: a holy angels to summon you to his house and
• 19:19
  Speaker 1: to hear words from you. Now that's pretty direct, right.
• 19:27
  Speaker 1: God confirms his work through multiple witnesses. Right here, he
• 19:32
  Speaker 1: confirms it with first giving Peter the vision, and then
• 19:37
  Speaker 1: after the vision, the Holy Spirit spoke to him. And
• 19:41
  Speaker 1: now the testimony of these men. That is three confirmations
• 19:48
  Speaker 1: that this is a work from God. And I pray
• 19:52
  Speaker 1: that we will follow this pattern. If I were you,
• 19:55
  Speaker 1: I would write this down right, writing down in your journal.
• 20:00
  Speaker 1: Something it added to your prayer lists, like, Lord, give
• 20:03
  Speaker 1: me your vision for my life. Then asks the Holy
• 20:08
  Speaker 1: Spirit to explain it, to give instruction to speak to it,
• 20:13
  Speaker 1: and then find people that you trust that are welcome
• 20:18
  Speaker 1: with the Lord to confirm the will for your life.
• 20:24
  Speaker 1: The vision that God has given you. That's a very
• 20:27
  Speaker 1: I believe, a safe way to go. Now everything lines
• 20:32
  Speaker 1: up right here, the vision, the Spirit's voice, the testimony.
• 20:36
  Speaker 1: This is how God will confirm direction. And notice something
• 20:41
  Speaker 1: else right here, Cannelius is spoken of will by the Jews.
• 20:48
  Speaker 1: God is dismantling Peter's assumptions one piece at a time.
• 20:55
  Speaker 1: The gentile isn't an enemy, He is a seeker. Hallelujah.

  Speaker 1: Now verse twenty three. Then he invited them in and
• 21:14
  Speaker 1: lodge them. Now this was a radical act according to
• 21:23
  Speaker 1: the Jewish law and custom. It disregards close fellowship with gentiles. Now,
• 21:35
  Speaker 1: you can't really blame Peter for this, because if you read,
• 21:42
  Speaker 1: let's say, the Book of Joshua when they were invading
• 21:48
  Speaker 1: the Promised Land. They were instructed over and over again,
• 21:52
  Speaker 1: do not fellowship with the inhabitants of the land, to
• 21:58
  Speaker 1: keep yourself separate. For one, he didn't want those nations
• 22:04
  Speaker 1: to take their hearts away from Him, the True and
• 22:08
  Speaker 1: Living God. That is one major reason to separate, and
• 22:13
  Speaker 1: that's the only thing that should separate us. It shouldn't
• 22:16
  Speaker 1: just be the believers versus unbelievers, those who serve death,
• 22:20
  Speaker 1: the devil versus those who served Satan. I mean to
• 22:24
  Speaker 1: serve God. But even at that, we need to try
• 22:28
  Speaker 1: to win those who are deceived by the enemy and
• 22:31
  Speaker 1: win them over to Christ's side. Right, and so they
• 22:38
  Speaker 1: were instructed. But we can't rush past this verse. Though
• 22:43
  Speaker 1: Peter invites gentiles into the house. Now it might not
• 22:48
  Speaker 1: sound like a big deal today, but back then this
• 22:52
  Speaker 1: was revolutionary. Right before Peter preaches to gentiles, he fell
• 23:00
  Speaker 1: ships with them. The God often changes our hearts before
• 23:07
  Speaker 1: he changes our mouths. Before we can even preach and
• 23:14
  Speaker 1: try to reach a certain people group. We have to
• 23:20
  Speaker 1: have a heart for these people. We have to pray
• 23:23
  Speaker 1: all the time. Lord, give us a burden for the loss,
• 23:28
  Speaker 1: Give us a desire to win souls and to love
• 23:33
  Speaker 1: God's people. Hallelujah now verse twenty three. On the next day,
• 23:42
  Speaker 1: Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa
• 23:48
  Speaker 1: accompanied him. Now, this is amazing. This is a part
• 23:52
  Speaker 1: of what my wife and I discussed the other day.
• 23:55
  Speaker 1: Peter doesn't go alone. You know, he could have been like,
• 23:59
  Speaker 1: I'm Peter on this rock. I should build my house
• 24:04
  Speaker 1: my church, right, is that what Jesus told Peter? He
• 24:08
  Speaker 1: could have been like, I don't need nobody to go
• 24:10
  Speaker 1: with me. I'm gonna go on my own. I'm the
• 24:13
  Speaker 1: leader of the apostles. Like anybody could have said that,
• 24:17
  Speaker 1: it would have been him. But Peter doesn't go alone.
• 24:22
  Speaker 1: Peter welcomes the accountability. God builds accountability unto obedience. Who
• 24:32
  Speaker 1: do you have in your life that you're accountable to?
• 24:38
  Speaker 1: That's why we started the accountability partner segment. It's to help.
• 24:44
  Speaker 1: But you really need your pastor or a Bible study leader,
• 24:48
  Speaker 1: or a brother or a family that you know are mature,
• 24:52
  Speaker 1: who are following the Word that you can openly allow
• 24:56
  Speaker 1: your life to be accountable to. But here the journey
• 25:02
  Speaker 1: has begun. Peter doesn't fully know what is ahead. But
• 25:08
  Speaker 1: he knows who sent him and that is enough. That
• 25:14
  Speaker 1: is enough. He's got his confirmations, he got the vision,
• 25:20
  Speaker 1: the only spirit spoke, and now these witnesses are there
• 25:26
  Speaker 1: to testify of the work that God has called him
• 25:31
  Speaker 1: to do. Man, that's awesome. Now let's bring this home
• 25:42
  Speaker 1: right here, right. God may be telling some of us
• 25:48
  Speaker 1: go where you've never gone, or maybe talk to people
• 25:54
  Speaker 1: you once avoided. Can you think about that person at
• 25:59
  Speaker 1: work that you avoided, the person in your neighborhood that
• 26:04
  Speaker 1: you try not to bump into. Right, we have to
