- 0:00Speaker 1: I promise I haven't taken up heroin. It's one more thing.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I'm before I get to weather or not pregnant Katie
- 0:09Speaker 2: Green is doing heroin, I assume not. I wanted to
- 0:13Speaker 2: just follow up on wrecking on my son's scooter yes day.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And it's not an electric scooter. It's a little push
- 0:18Speaker 2: kind Is there.
- 0:18Speaker 3: A name for that? You just call him a scooter scooter?
- 0:22Speaker 2: There's a brand brand, But yeah, he's got it. He's
- 0:25Speaker 2: got a fancy one. Then he does trecks with at
- 0:27Speaker 2: the skateboard park and he's really good on everything like that.
- 0:30Speaker 4: AnyWho, the skateboarders and the scooter people get a get along.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, good. It's a lesson for all of us,
- 0:38Speaker 3: isn't it. Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 2: The the bike crowd not not always. People are going
- 0:43Speaker 2: down on the bowl and their bikes and coming out
- 0:45Speaker 2: and doing flips or spins. Any who, I was riding
- 0:48Speaker 2: my son's scooter back he took off with his friends.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I was riding it back and I was on this
- 0:52Speaker 2: really crappy bike trail that had a lot of grooves
- 0:55Speaker 2: in it, and my front wheel got stuck in a
- 0:57Speaker 2: groove and I flipped over the bars and landed. My
- 1:01Speaker 2: knee went down hard and I bloodied knee. But I
- 1:04Speaker 2: was thinking about because it just rattled my brain. I
- 1:08Speaker 2: mean just jarred my brain. I had an instant headache
- 1:11Speaker 2: for a very long time. What happens to you when
- 1:14Speaker 2: your age? Because when you're a kid, even when you're
- 1:17Speaker 2: twenty five, you hit the ground like that, nothing, it
- 1:21Speaker 2: has no effect on you whatsoever. Does the amount of
- 1:24Speaker 2: juice around your brain go away?
- 1:26Speaker 3: Juice?
- 1:26Speaker 4: I don't believe that's the technical term brain juice, but
- 1:31Speaker 4: you know, is this.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Something that protects your brain goes away with age? Because
- 1:37Speaker 2: it just rocked my brain. It's just like, oh my god,
- 1:41Speaker 2: the pain of that. And I know because I used
- 1:43Speaker 2: to wreck a lot doing things when I was younger.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You felt nothing, not in the brain anyway, maybe your
- 1:48Speaker 2: elbow or your knee, but not your brain.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I talked about that years ago the last time I
- 1:54Speaker 4: fell ice skating, because they used to love to ice skate.
- 1:56Speaker 4: But I went skating and I was trying to do
- 1:58Speaker 4: something fancy from back in my hockey days. Entangled by
- 2:00Speaker 4: skates up and ended up falling and like hitting my
- 2:04Speaker 4: head on the ice, and the immediate sensation was that
- 2:09Speaker 4: was different. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because I've hit my
- 2:12Speaker 4: head on the ice so many times, That's why I
- 2:14Speaker 4: got this twitch. But uh yeah, it was absolutely different.
- 2:17Speaker 4: My brain wasn't nearly as juicy as it used to be.
- 2:20Speaker 2: There's got to be a cushion around your brain that
- 2:23Speaker 2: Joe's that like, there's less of it when you get
- 2:27Speaker 2: older or something.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I was going to do a little research on that,
- 2:30Speaker 2: because something's going on there.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And if that's what it feels like, now, what's it
- 2:34Speaker 2: feel like when you fall on your eighty five? I
- 2:36Speaker 2: can't imagine.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Oh, try not to, try real hard not to.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I probably won't scooter as much then, But I don't know.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I like doing that sort of stuff.
- 2:44Speaker 3: My wife was riding her bike.
- 2:45Speaker 4: We were riding bikes together, and she did a turn
- 2:47Speaker 4: and hit an uneven spot that kind of stopped or
- 2:50Speaker 4: tire and she went down bruised or spleen as I
- 2:53Speaker 4: recall it was. It was very close to a very
- 2:57Speaker 4: very serious injury, all right. But yeah, and that was
- 3:00Speaker 4: at super low speed. But it's a crack in the pavement. Yikes.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Okay, Katie, what's to do?
- 3:06Speaker 4: So?
- 3:06Speaker 5: I was out Friday for a somewhat urgent medical thing
- 3:10Speaker 5: while all your countries at war, you did not show
- 3:12Speaker 5: up to work.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Go on.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I had to do the gestational diabetes test, which is
- 3:20Speaker 5: they have an one hour and a three hour. I
- 3:23Speaker 5: took the one hour a couple of weeks ago, and
- 3:25Speaker 5: I just failed the shit out of it. That was
- 3:30Speaker 5: what the doctor wrote on my chart afterwards. So they
- 3:35Speaker 5: had me do the three hour, which I had to
- 3:38Speaker 5: fast for twelve hours, and then I go into the doctor.
- 3:42Speaker 5: They drop my blood and they give me this drink
- 3:45Speaker 5: that is just awful. It tasted like really thick flat sprite.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and it has one hundred I think it's
- 3:55Speaker 5: like one hundred milliliters a glucose senat or so it's
- 3:58Speaker 5: just straight sugar. And then when flat straight more than
- 4:03Speaker 5: it was, it was surupy. Oh gosh. So you drink
- 4:08Speaker 5: that and then uh, they take your blood three more
- 4:14Speaker 5: times on the hour ran afterwards, and so I went
- 4:19Speaker 5: in and I am not good with getting my blood drawn.
- 4:22Speaker 5: I It's like I I'd always let them know. I
- 4:24Speaker 5: have to be in one of the chairs that will
- 4:26Speaker 5: let me lean back across.
- 4:27Speaker 2: There's a chance I'm gonna go down. I haven't for many,
- 4:32Speaker 2: many years, but there's a chance, which.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Is weird because I don't know. It's not the pain.
- 4:35Speaker 4: No, it's no, it's not no, it's it's deep instinctive
- 4:39Speaker 4: and I don't want to talk about it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I see, I knew I was going to get you.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But this I always try to get myself through it
- 4:44Speaker 2: by convinced myself it's not the pain. What I did
- 4:46Speaker 2: wrecking my scooter hurt a million times more. Oh, I'm sure,
- 4:51Speaker 2: then get my blood take in and I don't worry
- 4:53Speaker 2: about that.
- 4:53Speaker 5: But so I was going into this thinking, Okay, they're
- 4:58Speaker 5: going to do like an ivy line and then they'll
- 5:02Speaker 5: just take the blood from that.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I'd assumed that was the case.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So there's one Jabin.
- 5:07Speaker 5: No, that was a full of jabins, oh nobs for
- 5:12Speaker 5: the same arm in the But you know what, kudos
- 5:17Speaker 5: to the phlebotomists. I had four different ones, no, three
- 5:20Speaker 5: different ones. They all nailed it the first time.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Oh lord, this is the worst podcast ever.
- 5:25Speaker 5: I know, isn't It isn't awful, But four in the
- 5:28Speaker 5: same arm even.
- 5:30Speaker 2: During a wait a minute, in no kidding, Even during
- 5:35Speaker 2: all my cancer treatment, I never got jabbed four times
- 5:38Speaker 2: in one day.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they like jabbing. You tell the truth
- 5:46Speaker 4: Cheney Cheney's Medical Center.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Possibly, Yeah, I think after the third one, I had said,
- 5:52Speaker 2: you jabbed me again, back exactly.
- 5:57Speaker 5: So they do the first one. That was what it
- 6:00Speaker 5: was like. It was like the first one, baseline. Wait
- 6:03Speaker 5: an hour, They do it again, rent and repeat three
- 6:05Speaker 5: more times.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I would have asked, why didn't you just put a
- 6:08Speaker 2: needle in my because I've had it done that way before,
- 6:10Speaker 2: where they got to do a bunch of stuff. They
- 6:13Speaker 2: didn't put it in the top of your hand, and
- 6:14Speaker 2: then they just get what they got to get when
- 6:16Speaker 2: they got to get it.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I hope people aren't crashing their cars listening to this.
- 6:20Speaker 4: So is this a special thing you had to do
- 6:24Speaker 4: because of your metabolism or medical history or is it
- 6:27Speaker 4: fairly common?
- 6:28Speaker 5: No, it's like it's probably probably that option.
- 6:32Speaker 3: No, it's try to be nicer. Huh.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I don't know if this is a new thing, because
- 6:37Speaker 1: I don't.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I don't.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I'm not that up on it.
- 6:39Speaker 5: But all of my friends said, oh, yeah, you have
- 6:42Speaker 5: to do it, and they'll give you that one hour
- 6:44Speaker 5: one which hopefully you pass.
- 6:48Speaker 3: But if you failed, the ship out of.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It, right, like I did I go big or go home? Yeah?
- 6:57Speaker 5: So I passed all four though, which is also I
- 7:00Speaker 5: don't understand. So how did I fail the absolute hell
- 7:02Speaker 5: out of the first one and then have four done
- 7:04Speaker 5: and I'm fine? Yeah, but no gestational diabetes? And I
- 7:09Speaker 5: just wanted to say how much I much would have
- 7:12Speaker 5: rathered in so many ways been here and just been
- 7:15Speaker 5: doing the show.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Guys.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Was this a licensed medical center or somebody's garage? Yeah?
- 7:20Speaker 3: Did you go to Mexico to save money?
- 7:22Speaker 5: I thought that having to go in like a back
- 7:24Speaker 5: gate was a weird yeah set up, you know, I
- 7:28Speaker 5: know it was a problem.
- 7:28Speaker 4: When the nurse said the doctor will be in in
- 7:32Speaker 4: a moment, yeah, rare quotes. Yeah that wait, what did
- 7:35Speaker 4: you just do? Oh?
- 7:37Speaker 1: One more thing?
- 7:38Speaker 5: I heard the greatest line. This little old guy was
- 7:40Speaker 5: hanging out. He was haad to have been like late eighties,
- 7:45Speaker 5: early nineties. But he's sitting in the waiting room and
- 7:47Speaker 5: the nurse comes out and she's like, hey, Jim, I
- 7:50Speaker 5: recognized your birthday and I remember you from last time.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's so good to see you.
- 7:54Speaker 5: And he looked at her and without missing a beat,
- 7:56Speaker 5: he goes, well, it's better to be seen than viewed.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Oh wow, that's I love you. That's a good one. Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 3: I'll hang on to that for years. That one, but
- 8:09Speaker 3: I admire.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Jeez, Louise, oh good, What the hell dude, Well, I
- 8:19Speaker 4: guess that's it.
