- 0:00Speaker 1: They get a little They called me.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Broadcasting live from Atlanta, Georgia. Welcome to the ball Alert Show.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I go by the name of Ferrari.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I go by to there, you know, bt Rosco Dash
- 0:13Speaker 1: of the buildings on Fellas. What's up, Bro? How y'all doing?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Long time? No man, but I'll be bumping into yall
- 0:21Speaker 1: and auto right, yeah, that's cool. Let me know. We
- 0:23Speaker 1: all doing we're supposed to be doing. So every time I.
- 0:26Speaker 2: See you, I just think about that that diamond record
- 0:28Speaker 2: you got.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, diamond real hand right, that's right,
- 0:31Speaker 1: that's right. I appreciate the people for that. Man, we
- 0:33Speaker 1: wouldn't have had that if it wentn't for everybody. Just
- 0:35Speaker 1: keep to me. The bigger part about it is that
- 0:38Speaker 1: it's had the longevity has had over the years. You
- 0:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, classic right now. You know what
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm saying. Coming from an area that wasn't digital, going
- 0:44Speaker 1: into digital like that and just being able to have
- 0:46Speaker 1: that longevity is what makes it what it is. I
- 0:48Speaker 1: think to me, anyway, first of all, what the hell
- 0:50Speaker 1: you been bro? Tucked in, Bro, trying to get it together.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But I've been plotting over Bro I've been putting some
- 0:55Speaker 1: new music together. I've been doing some acting. Are you
- 0:57Speaker 1: acting there? I'm working on a documentary right now to
- 1:00Speaker 1: tell where I've been at. So just a lot of
- 1:02Speaker 1: good things, bro, A lot of stuff that I needed
- 1:03Speaker 1: to do to to kind of just re remind people, reintroduced,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and then you know, do my thing from there. So
- 1:10Speaker 1: is the mohawk you over coming back? It's actually under
- 1:12Speaker 1: these braids like this is this is really a long mohawk.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I just break it down.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I swear no, lie that when when you when you
- 1:20Speaker 2: had everything in the chokehold, I'd say, what two thousand
- 1:24Speaker 2: and nine and you know, going on for a couple
- 1:28Speaker 2: of years after that, But I remember two thousand and nine, Bro,
- 1:31Speaker 2: oh no way.
- 1:33Speaker 1: You said everybody had a mohawk. Everybody we had rosary
- 1:37Speaker 1: beads and all that. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Man, yeah, even that flow your cadence, how you you know,
- 1:43Speaker 2: accentuated your your wordplay.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That was a that was a thing. Yeah, It's crazy, bro,
- 1:49Speaker 1: because I think what really sparked that was just what
- 1:51Speaker 1: I was listening to and how it was influenced growing up.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So I have so much influence from music, bro, Like
- 1:55Speaker 1: from Andre three thousand to like even the dmx is
- 1:58Speaker 1: and stuff like. I used to go get the booklets
- 2:00Speaker 1: and read the lyrics you know what I'm saying, and
- 2:02Speaker 1: like really see what's going on. So once I got
- 2:05Speaker 1: into like the t Pains. I think this was right
- 2:06Speaker 1: after Little John was started going Crazy. He was on
- 2:09Speaker 1: like his second or third album, going Nuts. So I
- 2:11Speaker 1: just wanted to take something and just kind of make
- 2:13Speaker 1: a hybrid you know what I'm saying or what was
- 2:15Speaker 1: going on. And Roscoe Dash came from that. So what'd
- 2:17Speaker 1: you get the name Roscoe Dash from? Dash?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Shit?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Bro?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Like, what's your real name?
- 2:23Speaker 1: My real name is Jeffrey got it? Johnson Junior. I'm
- 2:25Speaker 1: a junior too, Okay, Ballot, We're Roscoe Dash come from.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I went to the internet. Bro. I had a lot
- 2:30Speaker 1: of names before I had Roscoe Dash, honestly. And it's
- 2:32Speaker 1: funny because when I was moving around with with Travis Porter,
- 2:34Speaker 1: they used to try to give me names too, like
- 2:36Speaker 1: and I'm like, nah, that ain't it. Or I come
- 2:37Speaker 1: up with a name and they be like, nah, that
- 2:39Speaker 1: ain't it. But I went to the Internet ultimately, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: remember we used to have those two lists and two
- 2:43Speaker 1: column list of like mix and match you draw the
- 2:45Speaker 1: line to it or whatever. I literally went and found
- 2:47Speaker 1: like retro superheroes and they after the identities, and I
- 2:49Speaker 1: just mix and matched it till I found something network
- 2:51Speaker 1: and I was like, I needed something that's gonna stick.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So basically, you use the old AI. You feel what
- 2:57Speaker 1: I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've been We've been on
- 2:59Speaker 1: a a you know. Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Now I remember, I'm glad you brought up Travis Porter
- 3:04Speaker 2: one time for Travis Porter, but I do remember vividly.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Uh it was a version of the song all the
- 3:13Speaker 2: Way turned up, All the Way was all the Way
- 3:16Speaker 2: turned up, all the Way turned up, and then I
- 3:19Speaker 2: saw Roscoe Dash and Soldier Boy version.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I want to talk about that because I don't know
- 3:24Speaker 2: if the right clarity was ever addressed.
- 3:28Speaker 1: What happened, honestly, bro a lot a lot of stuff happened.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Whose song was it first? But everybody thought it was
- 3:38Speaker 1: the song? Yeah yeah, but that's because they were popping.
- 3:40Speaker 1: They were they were already look like I was going
- 3:41Speaker 1: to the club trying to get my song played when
- 3:43Speaker 1: they were doing Badness, Bitch in the World and ship
- 3:45Speaker 1: like that. So like respecting them for that because they've
- 3:46Speaker 1: been doing it before then, and they were black mind
- 3:48Speaker 1: before then. A lot of people don't know that hard
- 3:50Speaker 1: hitters or whatever it was. So I've been on them.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I've been on like black Man versus the fan stuff
- 3:54Speaker 1: sit like that. So nonetheless, I made the song. I
- 3:57Speaker 1: think my mom had just moved to Like it was
- 3:59Speaker 1: like a really bad time for America, like we was
- 4:01Speaker 1: in a recession and shit like that, and so my
- 4:03Speaker 1: mom had just got laid off and they relocated her
- 4:05Speaker 1: to Seattle, and so I was in the crib by myself,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and I went and got like some U Haul blankets
- 4:10Speaker 1: and shit, like I'm literally fitting for myself at like
- 4:11Speaker 1: seventeen eighteen. Okay, So I went and got some U
- 4:14Speaker 1: Haul blankets. I set them up in the corner of
- 4:15Speaker 1: the room, got a microphone, wrapped a washcloth around it
- 4:19Speaker 1: with a rubber band. I think I was recording on
- 4:21Speaker 1: like Adobe Audition's three point zero, which was like not
- 4:23Speaker 1: even some recording software for real, playing it off a
- 4:26Speaker 1: boombox like it was really put together, you know what
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm saying. Like I really kind of nigga rigged it
- 4:29Speaker 1: a little bit. But nonetheless, I came up with the record.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I knew I needed to re record the record, so
- 4:34Speaker 1: I went to who was sire the Kids now? But
- 4:38Speaker 1: it was his arrogant music studios off of Wendy Hill.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I went and re recorded that song, and I did
- 4:43Speaker 1: another song called crunch Time, but it was just the
- 4:45Speaker 1: hook in the first verse for turned up so fast forward.
- 4:48Speaker 1: My cousin had a good relationship with them from school
- 4:50Speaker 1: or whatever, from Miller Grove or whatever. So we went
- 4:52Speaker 1: to this club, just Jamaking Club off South Harriston one night,
- 4:55Speaker 1: and we was with Strap and I played the CD
- 4:58Speaker 1: in the car and he heard it and was like, oh,
- 5:00Speaker 1: this shit hard. I was like, I actually wanted I
- 5:02Speaker 1: need somebody to get us still some open spots on
- 5:03Speaker 1: here with you with the woop. So he was like, man,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I'm definitely gonna do it woo woop. So a couple
- 5:07Speaker 1: of days later we went over to CEO Charlie's Mama
- 5:09Speaker 1: crib to spitch your game office or whatever and cut
- 5:12Speaker 1: the record in his totality for what the Travis Porter
- 5:14Speaker 1: version was. A couple of weeks later they put out
- 5:16Speaker 1: the Differenter album and it ended up on there from
- 5:18Speaker 1: whoever however, it just ended up on their project as
- 5:21Speaker 1: Travis Porter featuring I was ATL at that time, young ATL,
- 5:24Speaker 1: so nobody knew who Roscoe Dash was, you know what
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm saying. Until they heard the first verse and they
- 5:28Speaker 1: heard me actually do it, then it's like okay. So
- 5:30Speaker 1: I went and moved around with them for a little bit,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and I actually was open to get in a situation
- 5:34Speaker 1: with I guess. I don't know what the name of
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Porterhouse label was before it was Porterhouse, but they
- 5:39Speaker 1: were in they were on their way to building that
- 5:41Speaker 1: in print or whatever, and so I talked to the CEO,
- 5:43Speaker 1: Charlie about it, but he wanted me to be included
- 5:45Speaker 1: in the group. And I'm like, Nigga, I can go
- 5:46Speaker 1: move around with them, you know what I'm saying, because
- 5:49Speaker 1: it just made sense for them already putting the record
- 5:51Speaker 1: out as their record. Now they don't have to tell
- 5:53Speaker 1: anybody that it's not their record, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:54Speaker 1: That's what I think from his perspective, he was thinking
- 5:56Speaker 1: the boys didn't know nothing about that. They just being
- 5:58Speaker 1: the boys, you know what I'm saying. So, and we
- 6:00Speaker 1: had the conversation too, and I told him, I'm like, bro,
- 6:02Speaker 1: you know I got kids, just like I think Strat
- 6:03Speaker 1: was the only other person that had kids at that time. Like, Bro,
- 6:05Speaker 1: I gotta you know what I'm saying, it's my shot.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So they was like, Bro, do whatever you gotta do.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And ultimately it just led to being done that way,
- 6:11Speaker 1: which is partially boommn fault. Really that was a boom
- 6:13Speaker 1: man and K moved not the throw K in the
- 6:15Speaker 1: hot seat too, But it worked out, you know what
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm saying. And we gave a credit to the original
- 6:18Speaker 1: producer for the remake and just took off. Soldier did
- 6:21Speaker 1: that shit in like forty five minutes because of what
- 6:23Speaker 1: was going on.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He sent it right back, so you so boy like, oh,
- 6:27Speaker 3: like yo, we need to get you on this record
- 6:29Speaker 3: so that you know the brand.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He didn't even know, Bro, I didn't even know until
- 6:34Speaker 1: it came back. Like he just put the play in
- 6:36Speaker 1: motion because he was like he already had the I
- 6:38Speaker 1: think he did turn my Swag on and some other
- 6:40Speaker 1: shit for Soldiers, so they already was locked in, you
- 6:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So he got him to send
- 6:44Speaker 1: it back. I recut the vocals on the new beat
- 6:45Speaker 1: that K had win his stitch together or whatever, and
- 6:48Speaker 1: the rest was history. After that, we did like four
- 6:49Speaker 1: or five records show out Maximum Stories stuff. You did
- 6:53Speaker 1: all that with k it was like a trip to Valdost.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I used to go like every other weekend and just
- 6:57Speaker 1: go down to take Valdosta was leading.
- 7:01Speaker 3: You had the I feel like you were just going
- 7:04Speaker 3: like back back to back back with hits.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so we was. We was creating a style then,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it was easy to
- 7:10Speaker 1: kind of just keep redoing the footprint that we was
- 7:12Speaker 1: laying at that time, you know what I'm saying. So
- 7:14Speaker 1: once Kay heard me on the horns, he was like,
- 7:16Speaker 1: we're doing horns on everything. I don't get. So, yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 1: that's how it happened. Not but there wasn't any bad
- 7:25Speaker 1: blood between There was at some point in time, because
- 7:29Speaker 1: I mean like it was times we were bumping to
- 7:30Speaker 1: each other at shows, bro we was about to hit,
- 7:31Speaker 1: like we was outside like it was like bad. Like
- 7:33Speaker 1: they'll tell you this why they was bad at you
- 7:35Speaker 1: if it was your song. I think it was just
- 7:37Speaker 1: how it was being portrayed, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:38Speaker 1: They probably felt a little played. I ain't gonna lie.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I probably would too if I took somebody on the
- 7:41Speaker 1: road and this, that and the third because they didn't know.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I don't think they really knew the perspective of what
- 7:45Speaker 1: Charlie was trying to do. Oh like the business behind
- 7:47Speaker 1: the scenes really what blew up their relationship because we
- 7:50Speaker 1: had a relationship, you know what I'm saying, Like we
- 7:51Speaker 1: was kicking it. We was going to the club, we
- 7:52Speaker 1: going to the studio. I used to go on the
- 7:54Speaker 1: road with them a little bit. We did all and
- 7:55Speaker 1: we did all these other you know, Southeast region shows
- 7:58Speaker 1: and ship like that where I was just coming out
- 7:59Speaker 1: of them. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So, but
- 8:02Speaker 1: it just got like that because I think from the
- 8:04Speaker 1: public perspective, I feel like people were trying to figure
- 8:06Speaker 1: out what's what and I got I got mad too
- 8:08Speaker 1: when people were saying, oh, no, it was really their
- 8:10Speaker 1: song and they're telling the story like it was them
- 8:11Speaker 1: and I'm like, bro, that's not how it happened. Sold
- 8:13Speaker 1: boy really blew the song up. He went crazy.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I think that's how you know, everything happens for a
- 8:18Speaker 3: reason because he was the hottest wrapper out.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But but but that no hands my boy. Yeah, so
- 8:25Speaker 1: how did that happen? Man? So was on the Walk
- 8:28Speaker 1: of fo We was on the road. And it's funny
- 8:29Speaker 1: because the stories kind of correlated because I think we
- 8:31Speaker 1: all been cool since like Mariachi Mondays and stuff like
- 8:34Speaker 1: that that we was doing way back in the gap
- 8:35Speaker 1: for the open mics with et and them, and so uh,
- 8:38Speaker 1: when we started moving around, we used to get booked
- 8:40Speaker 1: for a lot of the same gigs. So literally, when
- 8:41Speaker 1: I'm about to like hit with Travis Porter and we
- 8:43Speaker 1: about to fight or whatever outside for whatever reason, Walker's
- 8:46Speaker 1: like the mediator and this ship because he's like, bro,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I don't want to get in you know what I mean?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Walker was the mediator mediator and it's crazy wow yah yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: so if you know, you know boom. So anyway, long
- 8:59Speaker 1: story short, we came off the road from doing like
- 9:01Speaker 1: a little stamp doing a couple of shows together or whatever.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I think this was around the time when Gucci had
- 9:06Speaker 1: just got out of jail from the second I want
- 9:10Speaker 1: to get you know, one of them times. So boom,
- 9:12Speaker 1: we all at patchwork and Reese shout out to Recie Recye,
- 9:16Speaker 1: the one who kind of made it happen. She put
- 9:18Speaker 1: the session together between Drummer Boy in the b room
- 9:21Speaker 1: and and Waka, So I guess Gucci was in the
- 9:23Speaker 1: A room. Everybody was showing up for Gucci, but Druma
- 9:25Speaker 1: snuck out of there. He dropped his back off the
- 9:27Speaker 1: Gucci and then went and worked in the B room
- 9:28Speaker 1: with Waka. So when I went in there, he was
- 9:31Speaker 1: just making it. He was actually about to do something
- 9:32Speaker 1: completely different, like a whole different style of record that
- 9:34Speaker 1: nobody hit her before. It's called like trap step or
- 9:36Speaker 1: something was about to get ready to create. That's something
- 9:38Speaker 1: that I don't think nobody ever knew. But I heard
- 9:41Speaker 1: that beat and I was like yo. I was like, yo,
- 9:43Speaker 1: chicks love you. You know what I'm saying. Where this for be?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Motherfuckers up in the club or whatever you're doing? Like,
- 9:46Speaker 1: they love you for whatever persona they see you as
- 9:49Speaker 1: or whatever. So I said, you do a song for them, bro,
- 9:51Speaker 1: It's gonna carry you for the rest of your life.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I said, matter of fact, just write the verse. Bro,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it. You know what I'm saying, like
- 9:55Speaker 1: this rite the verse. Drama must have been listening to me,
- 9:58Speaker 1: listen to him making the beat and saying what I'm
- 10:00Speaker 1: saying to him, because he started putting that shit together
- 10:02Speaker 1: and guess what happened. Them horns came on. When the
- 10:04Speaker 1: horns came on, when the horse came, Roscoe came to man.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So the rest was history. But it's crazy because while
- 10:14Speaker 1: they ended up being in a room through recy two,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So this is my first
- 10:17Speaker 1: time meeting him. I knew of him before because I
- 10:18Speaker 1: saw him with the on BT jams and all this
- 10:21Speaker 1: other stuff when I was in the studio from the
- 10:22Speaker 1: song he had about the shoes and shit. That's the
- 10:24Speaker 1: only song I knew at that time, though, you know
- 10:25Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I think like halfway through the
- 10:29Speaker 1: record rec he came and tapped this and was like, hey,
- 10:31Speaker 1: while they had something, I'm like telling to get on
- 10:33Speaker 1: us to go in a booth, bro, get him on
- 10:35Speaker 1: the song. So he went and later and the rest
- 10:37Speaker 1: was history, bro honestly, and it just took off from that.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I think we put it out on his More About
- 10:41Speaker 1: Nothing mixtape like a day after we cut it or
- 10:43Speaker 1: something like that, and it was out of here. Damn. Yeah,
- 10:48Speaker 1: that's the time.
- 10:50Speaker 2: That's one of those timeless hip hop songs, especially, it
- 10:52Speaker 2: represents a time period place it's just man, it's one
- 10:55Speaker 2: of the biggest records ever. It's almost to me is perfect.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It's a perfect so I appreciate that.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So now what happens next, because I feel
- 11:05Speaker 2: like we're at the height right now and I don't
- 11:10Speaker 2: really remember anything else after this nobody.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, what really happened. I was in a bad
- 11:17Speaker 1: label situation. So I'm gonna say IM gonna say this
- 11:19Speaker 1: just to set the record straight because I really don't beat.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'll be waiting for the right time to say what
- 11:22Speaker 1: I need to say about certain stuff. So originally when
- 11:25Speaker 1: I went and did my deal, I did a management
- 11:28Speaker 1: deal with boom Man right from h M M I.
- 11:31Speaker 1: At the time, he was going crazy in Valdosta. He
- 11:32Speaker 1: had it going on up here too. He just kind
- 11:34Speaker 1: of knew how to market it and put it together right.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So he connects me to try to get me a
- 11:39Speaker 1: deal and take me. Once we put that record out
- 11:40Speaker 1: and start going crazy, He's like, Okay, now I need
- 11:42Speaker 1: to get it. Get the situation. Which record was all
- 11:44Speaker 1: the way turned down, so we had show out and
- 11:47Speaker 1: all that stuff. We had like a five pack and
- 11:48Speaker 1: all the way turned up and show. I was in
- 11:50Speaker 1: that five pack so we already knew we had the
- 11:51Speaker 1: first and second record. We was just marketing it as
- 11:53Speaker 1: all five so that when they go listen to it
- 11:55Speaker 1: on YouTube, they got a foundation. That's a that's free game.
- 11:57Speaker 1: They get foundation of how to you know what I'm saying,
- 11:59Speaker 1: what you sound like with the next record, gonna sound
- 12:01Speaker 1: like whatever? Whatever? So boom he goes and gets me
- 12:03Speaker 1: this deal or tries to give me this deal with
- 12:04Speaker 1: deaf Jam. The situation with Travis Porter and whose record
- 12:07Speaker 1: it is messed up the deal with deaf Jam through
- 12:09Speaker 1: Tony Neil. Tony Niel like put out this is what
- 12:11Speaker 1: I heard, allegedly put out a Neil hit me too,
- 12:14Speaker 1: want to come on the show. Yeah, he put it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He hit me like last week too. We're cool now.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But he uh he put a petition out that like
- 12:20Speaker 1: was saying that they're not going to play the record
- 12:22Speaker 1: because it's not my record. They're gonna only gonna play
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Travis Porter version or whatever. So that kind of
- 12:27Speaker 1: sparked the height of the Soldier Boy version. We started
- 12:31Speaker 1: really mashing the gas. Then we got Interscopes Attention through
- 12:33Speaker 1: a furnishing deal, so I really was signed to Polo
- 12:35Speaker 1: to don and this other group called music Line at
- 12:37Speaker 1: the time. So how'd you get signed to Polo to
- 12:40Speaker 1: don through Chubby Baby? Shout out to Chubby Baby. Let
- 12:44Speaker 1: me tell you when I tell you, Bro, Chubby really
- 12:46Speaker 1: went to bat for me, Bro, and like I didn't
- 12:48Speaker 1: even know this was happening. I don't even know how
- 12:50Speaker 1: Chubby got winded me or whatever, but he went on
- 12:52Speaker 1: V V one O three, got Polo to go on
- 12:53Speaker 1: V one O three. I got the sound bite from
- 12:54Speaker 1: this too, It's gonna be in my documentary where he
- 12:56Speaker 1: told him like, yeah, we just signed this new kid,
- 12:58Speaker 1: Roscoe Dash with the all the way turned up woo.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I found out then. I didn't even know, like they
- 13:02Speaker 1: passing my shit around, Like I don't know, Bro swear.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So little did I know boom Man had I think
- 13:08Speaker 1: I went in there that I was doing but just
- 13:09Speaker 1: signed the boom Man on the men on the management.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But I didn't know it was a three sixty, you
- 13:12Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So he really had me on
- 13:14Speaker 1: the management and the artist side of the recording side too,
- 13:16Speaker 1: But I didn't know that at the time, eighteen years old,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I ain't know, you know what I'm saying. So boom.
- 13:21Speaker 1: When we get to the next situation with the furnishing
- 13:25Speaker 1: company furnishing me to Interscope, he had already sold my contract.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I think I was working on kn' cash the lambou
- 13:29Speaker 1: at this time or demolition of twenty twenty. He sold
- 13:31Speaker 1: my contract to that furnishing company and got out the way.
- 13:34Speaker 1: But he had already hit my publishing too, so it
- 13:36Speaker 1: just created a bad situation for everybody.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Oh, he didn't got the publishing, the deal with the
- 13:42Speaker 3: with the labels, so he didn't already made his money,
- 13:44Speaker 3: so he like, here, y'all can have them.
- 13:45Speaker 1: That's why MMI is not MI no more, because he
- 13:47Speaker 1: even fell out with the business partner. You see what
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm saying. That's why I changed the Authentic Empire. That's
- 13:51Speaker 1: really Roscoe Dash money that he would have started that
- 13:53Speaker 1: label with, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, So, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: that that's when the whole like trajectory of what he
- 13:58Speaker 1: was doing changed a little bit. You know what I'm saying.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I'm kind of to the wolves at that point because
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'm with some new people that I just met through
- 14:03Speaker 1: a furnishing company. I'm signed to a deal with a
- 14:05Speaker 1: major label. So this is really my shot that I
- 14:07Speaker 1: wanted as a kid dreaming of getting a record deal,
- 14:09Speaker 1: But it's tied to some other bullshit too, you know
- 14:11Speaker 1: what I'm saying? And do you know what's going on
- 14:13Speaker 1: at this particular no idea? Like I found out from
- 14:15Speaker 1: asking how I was like, I want to shoot the
- 14:17Speaker 1: video for whatever song off my mixtape to help, you know,
- 14:20Speaker 1: drive to whatever we're doing for that shit. He was like, oh,
- 14:22Speaker 1: we don't handle that no more. I found out in
- 14:24Speaker 1: the studio bro in the booth, like in this booth
- 14:25Speaker 1: that we sitting next to. I found out like that swear.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So did that drive you to start looking at like
- 14:31Speaker 1: the business situation? Said? You sound very educated now?
- 14:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, now, but at that particular time, did you
- 14:37Speaker 3: did you when you experienced that situation in the studio,
- 14:41Speaker 3: did it kind of spark your mind and saying like,
- 14:43Speaker 3: you know, I need.
- 14:44Speaker 1: To I start looking around. Yeah, you got to look
- 14:45Speaker 1: around and see what's going on because now I'm already
- 14:48Speaker 1: in bed. Paul's with these other people that I don't know,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know what. I'm with the big label and they're
- 14:53Speaker 1: tied to the situation with the big label, and I
- 14:55Speaker 1: got another person, Polo who's not even probably not even
- 14:58Speaker 1: tied to none of this bullshit that's going on over here.
- 15:00Speaker 1: He just wants to give me a shot as a
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know, being a talent instead. You see what I'm saying.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So it kind of was a rotten egg and a
- 15:06Speaker 1: cart in that.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So this is all happening as all hands is out,
- 15:12Speaker 2: oh man, But you're making show money.
- 15:14Speaker 1: That's what's keeping it cool. That's all honestly between us. Bro.
- 15:17Speaker 1: That's that's up until about like maybe a year so ago.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I didn't even know where the publishing money was going
- 15:22Speaker 1: because the deal that he sold or created and did whatever,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I didn't even know. I had to track all that shit.
- 15:26Speaker 1: That took me fifteen years, Bro to figure that out.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Fifteen years of track. So it's like it's like either
- 15:31Speaker 1: do I keep riding a wave and put That's why
- 15:33Speaker 1: I said, for a minute, I was like, I ain't
- 15:34Speaker 1: doing hook no more shit because I knew that was
- 15:36Speaker 1: gonna shut them down from doing what they was doing,
- 15:38Speaker 1: so I could figure out how to get to what
- 15:40Speaker 1: was going on. So you were in silent and I
- 15:42Speaker 1: went and started focusing on the other stuff. I had my
- 15:44Speaker 1: second daughter around that time too. It was just a
- 15:45Speaker 1: lot going on. Lost my best friend the day before
- 15:47Speaker 1: my second daughter was born. It was a lot of
- 15:49Speaker 1: shit going on at one time. So for me being
- 15:51Speaker 1: twenty two years old at the time, I'm kind of
- 15:53Speaker 1: trying to figure it. I'm looking at the lawyers who
- 15:54Speaker 1: helped me do the deal. I'm looking at like, who
- 15:56Speaker 1: can I even look? You know what I mean, Like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: how do you even navigate that type of situation, you
- 15:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And then come to find out,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know, I didn't know the business of like producer
- 16:04Speaker 1: agreements or like side all disagreements and shit like that.
- 16:07Speaker 1: So all these things are going untouched. Like so the
- 16:08Speaker 1: relationships I'm having with the wala's, the dramas, the people
- 16:11Speaker 1: who I'm giving these records to. They situation is messed
- 16:13Speaker 1: up too because the paperwork an't getting signed, you know
- 16:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's like a lot of different
- 16:16Speaker 1: things that's going on at one time that's just kind
- 16:18Speaker 1: of hindering me from being who I am. In that moment.
- 16:21Speaker 1: All I had was to keep doing the music and
- 16:22Speaker 1: keep giving out what I had with so many girls
- 16:24Speaker 1: the other you know what I'm saying to the world
- 16:26Speaker 1: with r Kelly and Kanye I found out I was
- 16:28Speaker 1: a songwriter in that same moment. That's what really gave
- 16:30Speaker 1: me the longevity to keep going. In my opinion, now,
- 16:33Speaker 1: that's damn yes, that is a lot.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I couldn't even imagine going through something like that and
- 16:40Speaker 3: why you were going through that. Did you ever think
- 16:42Speaker 3: about like did you ever have a conversation with Polo, like,
- 16:46Speaker 3: hey man, what's going on with this?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yeah? We tried to sit at the table. He tried
- 16:49Speaker 1: to sit at the table and actually talk to him
- 16:50Speaker 1: about it, and that shit blew up too. We met
- 16:52Speaker 1: at Houston's one night, my mom came and everything. We
- 16:54Speaker 1: tried to like work it out and they ended up
- 16:56Speaker 1: getting into it cause with the label, Yeah, because Polo
- 16:58Speaker 1: was kind of like trying to say he's a star, bro,
- 17:00Speaker 1: we need to be doing this out of the third
- 17:02Speaker 1: Like he wanted to buy me the lambeau Go sign
- 17:04Speaker 1: some other artists that he had to all to write.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Took me to the right parties.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I was out with the right people. I met like
- 17:10Speaker 1: Chris Brown. We doing I got Chris Brown records and
- 17:12Speaker 1: all kinds of niggas never hear bro swear because the
- 17:15Speaker 1: situation imploded. But I was knocking him out, you know
- 17:17Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it was just a lot of
- 17:19Speaker 1: different stuff that was going on at one time. Bro,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I can't say that or not. I know, you just
- 17:22Speaker 1: be riding in the car like that. Yeah, like you
- 17:25Speaker 1: listen to these records. Yea, I'm saying. For time to time,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I got like computers, bro, with just like all kinds
- 17:29Speaker 1: of stuff. And don't get me wrong, like I still
- 17:31Speaker 1: was getting my shit off. I still got like other placements.
- 17:33Speaker 1: But this is like for Roscoe Dash, I could have
- 17:36Speaker 1: been like on some floor ride and shit at twenty
- 17:38Speaker 1: two instead of waiting till I'm twenty eight thirty to
- 17:41Speaker 1: do it. You know what I'm saying.
- 17:42Speaker 3: And at that point did you just did you say said, man,
- 17:45Speaker 3: hold on, I just need to take a break stop
- 17:48Speaker 3: because I don't know where my money's going. I don't
- 17:51Speaker 3: know the business what's going on. I just know I
- 17:53Speaker 3: got these hit records. I'm super famous right now. I
- 17:56Speaker 3: think I just need to stop.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I mean I kept doing the music, but
- 18:00Speaker 1: I knew that even in putting the music out and
- 18:03Speaker 1: it was something new, I didn't know where that was going.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I didn't know if it was still whatever was happening
- 18:06Speaker 1: was still happening, you know what I'm saying. So it's
- 18:09Speaker 1: like it's like putting some uploading something into a black
- 18:12Speaker 1: hole and just hoping it do what it need to do.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So at that point, all I had was the fame
- 18:16Speaker 1: that I had for people knowing what I do, you
- 18:18Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, to carry people to go do
- 18:20Speaker 1: the records because now I got released from Interscope once
- 18:22Speaker 1: they got wind of what was going on, they were like,
- 18:24Speaker 1: you can just come back to us whenever you get
- 18:25Speaker 1: all this other stuff out the way. But fifteen years later,
- 18:27Speaker 1: it's just now getting to that point where it's like,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you see what I'm saying, So I can go move
- 18:30Speaker 1: around and do those types of things. So I just
- 18:32Speaker 1: kind of sat with and it went independent. Started building
- 18:34Speaker 1: the other parts of the brand to kind of be
- 18:36Speaker 1: my foundation because I know I can always do the music,
- 18:39Speaker 1: like the music is always going to have been given
- 18:40Speaker 1: out records to other people ever since, you know what
- 18:41Speaker 1: I mean. I never stopped doing that part. So when
- 18:43Speaker 1: I do my documentary and people see that list the Lotus,
- 18:46Speaker 1: flower Bombs, the Tanache, it feels like Vegas, the all
- 18:49Speaker 1: these other records that I've been doing this whole time
- 18:51Speaker 1: home with Travis Scott. I've been doing like a lot
- 18:53Speaker 1: of different stuff. I just ain't been publicizing it. What
- 18:56Speaker 1: makes you what makes you not want to publicize? I
- 18:57Speaker 1: do now, But I just knew the other thing was
- 19:00Speaker 1: in that time, In that fifteen year time frame, you know,
- 19:02Speaker 1: people gonna fall out when they catch wind of what's
- 19:03Speaker 1: going on. People gonna go tuck in, do this, that,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and the ThReD. You gotta track people down with the woop.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So for me, it was just about making sure the
- 19:09Speaker 1: time was right and knowing that when I do what,
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna get the shot. I need to have to
- 19:14Speaker 1: to go where it needs to go, you know what
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'm saying. So once they caught win and they're like, oh,
- 19:16Speaker 1: he's still right, that's more my nigga. But let me
- 19:18Speaker 1: go check the bank account and see if the money
- 19:19Speaker 1: they came in, you know what I'm saying. So I'm
- 19:21Speaker 1: trying to navigate all that ship. Because when you're dealing
- 19:23Speaker 1: with labels bro Universal, they got an agreement. Let's say
- 19:25Speaker 1: if y'all, if you're the artist and you're the manager,
- 19:28Speaker 1: or whatever. If you go do a deal with me,
- 19:30Speaker 1: it don't matter what he if. He can be like,
- 19:31Speaker 1: oh I'm such and such, I am Ferrari Simmons. I'm
- 19:33Speaker 1: trying to see what my publishing that. Woooo. Well, you
- 19:35Speaker 1: gotta go holler at BT because BT we got an
- 19:37Speaker 1: agreement with him based off of your admin rights to
- 19:39Speaker 1: this that of the third and you don't really have
- 19:40Speaker 1: no power in that situation. You see what I'm saying.
- 19:44Speaker 1: You give out a lot of game. Yeah, the documentary
- 19:46Speaker 1: is gonna be give it out a lot of game.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Seem gonna be a.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Lot of replay value in this interview.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, I appreciate y'all. Yeah, we gotta have you
- 19:56Speaker 1: come back to sure.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Okay, so let's uh, you know, before we wrap, let's
- 19:59Speaker 2: talk about what you currently have going on now.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so right now, man, I've been I just did
- 20:05Speaker 1: the BT Hip Hop Awards with Soldiers, Big fine. I
- 20:09Speaker 1: just gave us the footing. We need to do what
- 20:11Speaker 1: I need to do for people to be like, oh
- 20:12Speaker 1: that's what he looked like. Oh that's what's going on.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Oh that is he did do these songs with the wool.
- 20:16Speaker 1: So right now, what I'm doing is. I'm doing a
- 20:18Speaker 1: documentary that should be out first quarter, first or second
- 20:20Speaker 1: quarter on the major publication or what is call the Scenes.
- 20:24Speaker 1: We haven't decided what it's gonna be called yet, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm kind of between like two names. I'm trying to
- 20:28Speaker 1: figure out what I'm gonna do. But it's gonna be
- 20:30Speaker 1: on some like Amazon or you know, Hulu, whatever type shit.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So we got that. I got a project I'm working
- 20:35Speaker 1: on call Let's Have Fun. I really want to bring
- 20:36Speaker 1: fun back to music, to the clubs and shit like that.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So I got a project that I'm curating with some
- 20:40Speaker 1: new and old talents smart. Yeah, it just kind of
- 20:44Speaker 1: bridged the gap. Bro. I feel like I'm a bridge.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm a young og, so I'm not I'm not as
- 20:48Speaker 1: as up there as decorated as like a juvenile or
- 20:51Speaker 1: whoever else, right, but I'm still a young og that
- 20:54Speaker 1: can talk to the young kids and get them on
- 20:55Speaker 1: them records to be you know, all on the same
- 20:58Speaker 1: page or whatever. So that's kind of what I've been doing.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And then, like I said, I've been doing the independent films.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I'm on my third independent film now, uh that just
- 21:04Speaker 1: came out two weeks ago called make it Rain. That's
- 21:07Speaker 1: on to b and Netflix. I think I got for
- 21:10Speaker 1: the Gram that's out, and I got rack Case that's
- 21:11Speaker 1: out as well, on t being some other peacock I
- 21:14Speaker 1: think or something like that.
- 21:15Speaker 3: So thats got that business right.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Get it together, man, I'll be telling people all the time, bro,
- 21:21Speaker 1: It's about spreading it out, you know what I'm saying.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Like you, when you start to get that fame and
- 21:25Speaker 1: the song isn't bigger than you and people know who
- 21:27Speaker 1: you are, you got to start spreading that stuff out
- 21:28Speaker 1: because you never know. It could be some lifestyle stuff.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I've been playing celebrity basketball games, football games, during the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Super Bowl halftime shows, all kind of stuff just from
- 21:35Speaker 1: showing the lifestyle, you know what I'm saying, Telling people,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm vegetariing I can get some other ship going for that,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 21:39Speaker 3: So just all kinds of different things and people. Uh,
- 21:42Speaker 3: just just for the record, we all are friends in
- 21:47Speaker 3: the group chat.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Everybody, So I don't want to think, you know, it's
- 21:51Speaker 1: still any issues or anything like that come up here too. No,
- 21:55Speaker 1: for sure, I want to do a tour, bro. Like
- 21:57Speaker 1: I'm really trying to get to the position where I
- 21:58Speaker 1: can put a tour together that kind of features all
- 22:01Speaker 1: the people that kind of paid the way and that
- 22:03Speaker 1: not just in the era where I came out, but
- 22:04Speaker 1: you know since then too, Like I want to do
- 22:06Speaker 1: a real some real millennium turned up stuff. You know
- 22:09Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like.
- 22:10Speaker 2: So well, look, I want to give your flowers, man,
- 22:14Speaker 2: because I remember the time I went a little That's
- 22:17Speaker 2: when I was.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Becoming Ferrari Simmons.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I was in them clubs with DJ Holliday and all
- 22:22Speaker 2: them boys, and we was in them strip clubs.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And ran around. He gave us some bangers. You know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: We've been on plenty of stages.
- 22:32Speaker 3: A lot of people don't even know. Manhi used to
- 22:33Speaker 3: be on the road together. This when I this when
- 22:35Speaker 3: I lived in Arkansas.
- 22:37Speaker 1: He had that ship going crazy. Like man, he used
- 22:39Speaker 1: to travel everywhere.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Man, when I tell you this, dude is never going
- 22:43Speaker 3: to be without a job because people love Roscoe.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Dash love your music bro to this day.
- 22:52Speaker 3: And it's like your music, it's so crazy because your
- 22:55Speaker 3: music is being passed down from like generation, especially with
- 22:57Speaker 3: the college he got the college market on Smash I got.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I got a couple of people that's been hitting me up.
- 23:03Speaker 1: That's like you know they the million or billion stream
- 23:06Speaker 1: rap people or whatever. Right now it's like, Yo, we
- 23:07Speaker 1: want to redoce sexy girl, we want to redo. And
- 23:10Speaker 1: I'm like, hell you Like I I'm blessed to be
- 23:13Speaker 1: in a position for you have the catalog or that.
- 23:16Speaker 3: To you definitely got the catalog because your music is
- 23:19Speaker 3: like being passed down a generation. Because I looked at
- 23:22Speaker 3: the like we used to do the colleges together and
- 23:25Speaker 3: I was like, man, he got the colleges on smash.
- 23:28Speaker 3: And then think about it when they graduate college. Now,
- 23:30Speaker 3: the new people, they're going to be listening to Roscoe
- 23:33Speaker 3: Like it's crazy.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's the other that's the other gym that people don't know.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I'll be telling them like it's the clubs and all
- 23:37Speaker 1: that shit. Cool, bro, you getting them college market college.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I always felt like you k camp and a couple
- 23:43Speaker 1: of the Kevin is another one. Yeah, Camp is another one.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I want to say this too, bro,
- 23:48Speaker 1: because I remember it was times when we was at
- 23:49Speaker 1: the Aragon Music Studio and I think it was like
- 23:51Speaker 1: Shawn Teezy was popping around this time. Yeah, like this
- 23:55Speaker 1: is this is some real Camp was around, Bro, and
- 23:58Speaker 1: he was like the young you know what I mean.
- 24:01Speaker 1: But I'm just so proud of watching them people that
- 24:03Speaker 1: really stayed down and stuck to the ground. Sunny Digital
- 24:04Speaker 1: is another one. I was just talking about him earlier.
- 24:06Speaker 1: People that just always been in the right rooms and
- 24:08Speaker 1: don't have to be in the front to lead, And
- 24:10Speaker 1: now they're getting their time to do all the things
- 24:12Speaker 1: they ever felt, and even the unfathomable stuff too, because
- 24:14Speaker 1: those the best blessings to me, in my opinion, stuff
- 24:15Speaker 1: because you're to see yourself doing so Shout out to them, man,
- 24:18Speaker 1: Shot out to anybody who've been just holding it down
- 24:19Speaker 1: and just persevering, you know what I'm saying, and being
- 24:22Speaker 1: resilient so it's hard.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Before we get out of here, I need you to
- 24:25Speaker 2: look at that camera. It's called the mental health check in.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, man, what to do? What to do with
- 24:29Speaker 1: your boy, mister Rosco yourself, Roscoe dash this is the
