That means 'What do you do for a living?' Let's break it down. Was bist du von Beruf. Luna: Was bist du von Beruf. Lucas: Perfect. Now, to answer, you say: Ich bin Arzt. That means 'I am a doctor.' Arzt is the word for doctor. Ich bin Arzt. Luna: Ich bin Arzt. But what if I'm a female doctor? Lucas: Good catch. For female professions, you often add -in. So a female doctor is Ärztin.
