- 0:16Speaker 1: Excited to visit right now with Aaron from Midwest Donor Flight,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and we were just recently talking about a big day
- 0:22Speaker 1: of giving at Barrel House on Monday, August seventeenth, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: today we're going to talk about another thing they have
- 0:27Speaker 1: coming up at the end of August, Pars and Pubs.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So tell me a little bit more about this. What
- 0:33Speaker 1: is Pars and Pubs Erin.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Absolutely this is the ninth year that this event's been
- 0:37Speaker 2: hosted in downtown two Falls.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And if you like the regular old pub.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Crawl idea and combine it with mini golf, that's what
- 0:45Speaker 2: Pars and Pubs is.
- 0:46Speaker 3: It's an exciting.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Little time, nine challenging and fun little mini courses that
- 0:51Speaker 2: they have put together and different participating bars downtown. You
- 0:55Speaker 2: go around and walk to each of those and it's
- 0:57Speaker 2: just a great time, great events and of course raising
- 1:01Speaker 2: funds for Middleistentner.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Flight So when I do this on Saturday, August twenty ninth,
- 1:05Speaker 1: do I bring my own ball and my own club
- 1:07Speaker 1: or I just show up?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Just pretty much show up online registration. You do save
- 1:11Speaker 2: a couple bucks if you do that in advance. You
- 1:13Speaker 2: can have teams before, but you'll be assigned a bar
- 1:16Speaker 2: to start at, and then you and your team will
- 1:19Speaker 2: make your way through the course and find your way
- 1:22Speaker 2: back to Wiley's at the end for awards.
- 1:24Speaker 3: But it's an easy way.
- 1:25Speaker 2: You can always just show up as well the morning
- 1:27Speaker 2: of and participate.
- 1:29Speaker 3: As well if you wish.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But like I mentioned, online registration will get you a
- 1:34Speaker 2: guaranteed spot at a bar that morning, and of course
- 1:37Speaker 2: save you a couple bucks too.
- 1:39Speaker 1: That is awesome Again, Bars and Pubs, Saturday, August twenty ninth.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It sounds like it's a long ways away right now,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and it is, but it's going to get here before
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know it. So throw that on your calendar right now.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Make sure you plan to be there. And again, if
- 1:51Speaker 1: I want to register, I should do that in advance.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Where do I go to register?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Erin? Absolutely all the information is on our website.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It's probably be the easiest way to find all the
- 2:00Speaker 2: cars that are participating.
- 2:01Speaker 3: As well as a Facebook event.
- 2:02Speaker 2: But website and our Facebook page we both have those
- 2:05Speaker 2: events along with that registration link.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I love that. Again, Midwest Honorflight dot org is a
- 2:10Speaker 1: great place to go, and again you should follow them
- 2:12Speaker 1: on social media as well, so you're always staying up
- 2:14Speaker 1: to date with what they have going on. You guys
- 2:16Speaker 1: do some fun fundraisers, which I love that, And the
- 2:19Speaker 1: reason we're raising these funds is for a very good cause.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Let's explain Midwest Honor Flight for folks that maybe are
- 2:24Speaker 1: not one hundred percent familiar with what you guys do.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Absolutely, the Midwest Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization and
- 2:30Speaker 2: our mission is to bring our veterans from World War
- 2:33Speaker 2: Two all the way through Vietnam, all the way out
- 2:35Speaker 2: to Washington, DC to go see the memorials there that
- 2:37Speaker 2: have been dedicated to their service and sacrifice as well
- 2:40Speaker 2: as their fellow comrades. And it's a day of honor,
- 2:43Speaker 2: respect and some closure. And when we bring them home,
- 2:46Speaker 2: there's a big welcome home celebration as well at the airport.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It's the least we can do for these veterans that
- 2:51Speaker 2: we're willing to give so much for our country and
- 2:54Speaker 2: we just of course need the funds to do it
- 2:56Speaker 2: and events like this, and we're trying to always make
- 3:00Speaker 2: unique events for folks to come out to. Events like
- 3:03Speaker 2: this are exactly a great way to support our mission
- 3:06Speaker 2: to support our veterans and bring them to Washington, d C.
- 3:10Speaker 3: At no cost to them.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I love that, and it is a wonderful thing. The
- 3:13Speaker 1: welcome home ceremony is amazing. But also when you land
- 3:18Speaker 1: in Washington, d C. And these heroes are getting off
- 3:21Speaker 1: the airplane, they're never walking into an empty airport, They're
- 3:24Speaker 1: walking into people who are cheering and rooting for them,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and I just think that's really cool. The Midwest Donner
- 3:30Speaker 1: Flight Organization has done such a great job, So Aaron,
- 3:33Speaker 1: thank you for all that you do as the CEO
- 3:35Speaker 1: of Midwest Donner Flight. I know it's not easy to
- 3:38Speaker 1: do what you do, and you've kind of bit off
- 3:41Speaker 1: a pretty big thing here, and you've done a great
- 3:43Speaker 1: job of making it look easy. But I know it's
- 3:45Speaker 1: not easy.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Is it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: It's you know, it's been a fun challenge over the years,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and certainly something that we didn't think, you know, almost
- 3:53Speaker 2: ten years later, that we would continue to be doing
- 3:56Speaker 2: but there's a need for it, and the veterans absolutely
- 4:00Speaker 2: deserve this honor. And while it's a one day trip,
- 4:04Speaker 2: it's one that ranks up there with the birth of
- 4:06Speaker 2: their children in the day they got married, and so
- 4:08Speaker 2: that speaks volumes to what this day truly means to
- 4:11Speaker 2: these veterans that get the chance to go.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Very nice. If somebody listening is saying, hey, I'd like
- 4:15Speaker 1: to contribute, I'd like to be a part of it.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Maybe I can't be a part of pars and pubs.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But if they want to make a donation, is it
- 4:20Speaker 1: best to just go right to the website.
- 4:22Speaker 2: They go to our website. There's an online giving option
- 4:25Speaker 2: as well as information how to mail a check to
- 4:27Speaker 2: us as well. But yeah, every dollar helps, and so
- 4:31Speaker 2: whether it's coming to events and having a little fun
- 4:34Speaker 2: with them or sending five dollars, everything helps to make
- 4:38Speaker 2: these flights possible for our veterans and we honestly could
- 4:42Speaker 2: not do it without the community support. And for the
- 4:44Speaker 2: last nine years we've been able to get over twenty
- 4:47Speaker 2: six hundred veterans out to Washington, d C. All because
- 4:50Speaker 2: of the communities that we live in. So we are
- 4:52Speaker 2: so grateful and thankful for so many different opportunities for
- 4:54Speaker 2: folks to contribute and look forward to this event and
- 4:57Speaker 2: many more to come.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Very nice.
- 4:59Speaker 3: So yet.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Aaron is the CEO of Midwest Honor Flight. If you
- 5:02Speaker 1: would like to join them on Saturday, August twenty ninth,
- 5:04Speaker 1: that's Pars and Pubs and that is a really fun
- 5:07Speaker 1: way to do something fun with friends and contribute to
- 5:11Speaker 1: a great cause. You can get all of the details
- 5:13Speaker 1: about that event and many other fun things they have
- 5:15Speaker 1: coming up on their website. Again, it's Midwest Honorflight dot org.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Solution now
