- Lucas: Ciao a tutti, and welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Lucas, I'm so excited for today's episode. I've been wanting to go to the cinema in Italy, but I have no idea how to buy a ticket. Lucas: Well, you're in luck, because today we're going to learn exactly that. Buying a movie ticket at an Italian cinema. Luna: Oh, that's perfect. So, what's the first thing I say when I get to the ticket counter? Lucas: You can start with: Vorrei un biglietto. That means 'I would like a ticket.' Let's hear it: Vorrei un biglietto. Luna: Vorrei un biglietto. Vorrei un biglietto. Lucas: Exactly. Then the ticket seller will likely ask you something like: Quanto costa? or 'How much does it cost?' But you can also ask that yourself. Luna: Quanto costa? Lucas: Perfect. So if you want to ask the price, you say: Quanto costa? Luna: Quanto costa. Got it. Lucas: And if you're buying for more than one person, you can say: Per due persone. 'For two people.' Or per tre, per quattro... Luna: Per due persone. That's helpful. So I could say: Vorrei un biglietto per due persone? Lucas: Actually, you'd say: Vorrei due biglietti. Because you want two tickets. But you can also say: Vorrei un biglietto per due persone? No, that's a bit confusing. Let's keep it simple: Vorrei due biglietti. Luna: Vorrei due biglietti. Right, because biglietto is singular, biglietti is plural. Lucas: Precisely. Now, another important question: A che ora inizia il film? 'What time does the movie start?' A che ora inizia il film? Luna: A che ora inizia il film? That's a mouthful. Let me try: A che ora inizia il film? Lucas: That was good. Inizia means 'starts.' So if you want to know the time, you ask: A che ora inizia il film? Luna: And if I want to know if the movie is in Italian, maybe for a foreign film? Lucas: Great question! You can ask: Il film è in italiano? 'Is the movie in Italian?' Il film è in italiano? Luna: Il film è in italiano? That's simple. So I can ask that at the counter too. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice a mini dialogue. Imagine you're at the cinema. You say: Vorrei due biglietti. Luna: Vorrei due biglietti. Lucas: Then the clerk says: Quanto costa? Luna: Quanto costa? Wait, the clerk is asking me the price? No, I think the clerk tells me the price. Lucas: Right, sorry. The clerk would say the price. But you can ask: Quanto costa? to find out. So after you say Vorrei due biglietti, you might ask: Quanto costa? Luna: Okay: Vorrei due biglietti. Quanto costa? Lucas: Then the clerk might say: Dieci euro. Then you can ask: A che ora inizia il film? Luna: A che ora inizia il film? Lucas: And if you're worried about the language, you can ask: Il film è in italiano? Luna: Il film è in italiano? Perfect. I feel ready to buy tickets now. Lucas: Let's do a full run-through. I'll be the ticket seller. Ciao, buongiorno. Luna: Buongiorno. Vorrei due biglietti. Lucas: Quindici euro. Luna: Quanto costa? Oh, you said fifteen. Okay, A che ora inizia il film? Lucas: Alle otto e mezza. Luna: Il film è in italiano? Lucas: Sì, è in italiano. Luna: Perfetto! Grazie. Lucas: Prego. Excellent, Luna. Let's review the key phrases one more time. Luna: Sure. Vorrei un biglietto. Lucas: Vorrei due biglietti. Luna: Quanto costa? Lucas: A che ora inizia il film? Luna: Il film è in italiano?
