- 1:40Speaker 2: your host of the Taking a Walk Nashville podcast, and
- 1:43Speaker 2: today we are here in Fanfair at CMA Fest. I'm
- 1:46Speaker 2: here with Gabriella and Bianca from Diamond Dixie.
- 1:49Speaker 3: How are you so good? How are you okay? Thanks
- 1:52Speaker 3: for being here.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So you just did a meet and greet at Fanfair
- 1:55Speaker 2: and you're just telling me you did a festival at
- 1:57Speaker 2: Carolina Country FESTI bef we're coming here right did?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 2:00Speaker 4: It was so hectic but so much fun and we
- 2:02Speaker 4: got to meet so many new fans.
- 2:04Speaker 3: So it was a good weekend. Oh yeah, so cool.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And this isn't your first CMA fest, is it. No,
- 2:10Speaker 3: it's not.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we've kind of done a few things like here
- 2:12Speaker 1: and there in previous years and everything, but yeah, this
- 2:15Speaker 1: year was kind of hectic with the Carolina Country Music Fest,
- 2:18Speaker 1: so we were out of town for a few days
- 2:20Speaker 1: during the CMA Fest. So today is kind of our
- 2:23Speaker 1: whole shebang. Yeah, doing all the things around FANFAREX, doing meet.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And greets and all that stuff. So it's a lot
- 2:29Speaker 3: of fun. Yeah, I love it. Last day of CMA Fest.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You ladies are originally from Orlando, Florida, So tell me
- 2:34Speaker 2: how you made the journey from Orlando to.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Here in Nashville.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I hear your father was always playing music grew up
- 2:41Speaker 2: growing up, so it sounds like he was a big
- 2:43Speaker 2: influence of yours.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, absolutely. Yeah, it's been a long musical journey.
- 2:48Speaker 4: It kind of started with me. I'm the older one.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I was a huge, like.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Hannah Montana fan, Taylor Snow fan when they both started
- 2:54Speaker 4: like coming on the scene, and so I signed up
- 2:56Speaker 4: for my school's talent show when I was in fourth grade,
- 2:58Speaker 4: and I was like, I'm gonna go sing and play guitar,
- 3:01Speaker 4: and my dad played with me, and I remember when
- 3:03Speaker 4: I got off stage, I was like, that was so cool.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I want to do that forever. And then Biaka, being
- 3:07Speaker 4: the younger sister, She's like, yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 3: That sounds like fun. I'm gonna do it, Tara.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So we've honestly been doing it ever since. And we
- 3:12Speaker 4: finally made our first trip to Nashville in like twenty fifteen,
- 3:15Speaker 4: so a little over like ten years ago. And ever
- 3:18Speaker 4: since then, we've been commuting back and forth from Orlando
- 3:21Speaker 4: to Nashville to write, record, play some shows, and then
- 3:24Speaker 4: we finally made the like move up here.
- 3:27Speaker 3: In let me think of one.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, we've been here for a little over four
- 3:32Speaker 4: and a half years.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I love it.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I was telling you ladies earlier, I saw you guys
- 3:36Speaker 2: playing at the coffee weall house here in Nashville years ago. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and now you guys are doing so much on the road.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You've opened for Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker performed VIP sets
- 3:47Speaker 2: for Miranda Lambert Florida, Georgia line.
- 3:49Speaker 3: What's been your favorite road moment so far? Oh my gosh,
- 3:53Speaker 3: that's a good question.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Favorite road moment honestly, every chance that we have a
- 3:58Speaker 4: great band, Like they're just they're eat musicians first of all,
- 4:01Speaker 4: but they're also like just such fun people, Like there's
- 4:03Speaker 4: never a dull moment. So any chance that we get
- 4:06Speaker 4: like with them, which is like all the time. They're
- 4:09Speaker 4: really like not bad people to road trip with, which
- 4:12Speaker 4: we're super blessed about. So we're always like cracking jokes
- 4:15Speaker 4: and having fun with them, So it's always a.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Good time, awesome you have more shows coming up this summer.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Where are you looking forward to going.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We're actually playing in Jefferson, Ohio, which it's it's really
- 4:25Speaker 1: crazy like doing music and everything because you see like
- 4:28Speaker 1: complete new cities you've never thought you would like go
- 4:30Speaker 1: to before, and you find out about cities that you've
- 4:34Speaker 1: never even heard of before too, So it's like we
- 4:36Speaker 1: I think the first time we.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Played in Ohio was last year.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah, played in Plaine City, So we're playing Plain City
- 4:40Speaker 1: again this year. Yeah, and then we're playing in Jefferson, Ohio,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and I think that's probably the most north we've ever played.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, I think so, Yeah, something like that.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So that'd be a fun little event that we're playing.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So that'll be later in July.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So and where can where can people go to find
- 4:56Speaker 2: your upcoming shows?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, they can go to Diamond Dixie dot com. We've
- 4:58Speaker 1: got all of our shows on there. We always post
- 5:01Speaker 1: about all of our stuff on socials too, so Facebook, Instagram,
- 5:04Speaker 1: all that good stuff.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Amazing you ladies have dropped a couple new singles this year.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You have an upcoming EP this August called time While Wasted.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Tell me about the theme of that EP and how
- 5:16Speaker 2: it came about writing the songs for that EP.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, So that EP is kind of like a compilation
- 5:21Speaker 1: of our lived experiences in the past few years and everything,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and each song kind of kind of tells that story
- 5:28Speaker 1: a little bit. And I think the overall theme of
- 5:30Speaker 1: that album is kind of I guess EP not album.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The overall theme of that EP is more of just like,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you know, time' is gonna go on no matter what
- 5:38Speaker 1: you're doing, so you might as well spend it doing
- 5:40Speaker 1: what you love. You know.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Some of those songs in.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Our EP kind of highlights those moments where you're in
- 5:45Speaker 1: a relationship and you might think to yourself, hey, this
- 5:49Speaker 1: might not be for me, so I kind of need
- 5:51Speaker 1: to get out of this because you know, you want
- 5:52Speaker 1: to spend your time well, So kind of that's the
- 5:55Speaker 1: theme of time, Yeah Wasted.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Anything more you want to add, Well, I was gonna say, like, yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 4: it does light some like breakup moments, and I feel
- 6:02Speaker 4: like even though you go through some of these bad moments,
- 6:04Speaker 4: it kind of like builds you and your characters. So, yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 4: time all wasted.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah, time well wasted. On the road together and as sisters,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you're always writing songs together, performing together, is it like,
- 6:19Speaker 2: you know, being together twenty four to seven. Do you
- 6:21Speaker 2: guys have your own individual hobbies you like to do.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yes, we definitely have. It's crazy because it's like we
- 6:26Speaker 1: are together twenty four seven. Yeah, and ironically enough, we
- 6:29Speaker 1: like don't fight.
- 6:30Speaker 3: We're just we're best friend.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So it's like we hang out all the time. But yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: you talk about your hobbies.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I'm still honestly, this sounds weird. I'm still kind of
- 6:38Speaker 4: finding some of my hobbies. But recently I've kind of
- 6:41Speaker 4: gotten into skateboarding, which sounds a little.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Oh that's cool.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Yeah, honestly because like growing up in Florida, we used
- 6:47Speaker 4: to surf all the time, and now that we live
- 6:49Speaker 4: in Tennessee, it's like, well there's no oceans around, so
- 6:51Speaker 4: like what am I gonna do? So got into skateboarding,
- 6:53Speaker 4: but that's kind of a hobby I stole from you.
- 6:55Speaker 4: But I really enjoy like working out, going to the gym.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I feel like it betters my mind and like it's
- 7:00Speaker 4: me like set up for the day.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You're definitely a gym rat.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I'm the gym rat. Bianca has very different hobbies than Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I like to make my own sourdough, bread. I just
- 7:10Speaker 1: bought a nineteen seventy seven Ford truck in like November,
- 7:13Speaker 1: so I like to work on that. I like, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 1: anything out.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Doorsy, just love it.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So kind of a little bit of my hobbies.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I love that.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And that truck you were talking about, is that the
- 7:24Speaker 2: mint green truck that was in one of your recent
- 7:26Speaker 2: music videos.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah, in the maid a Liar music video. Decided to
- 7:30Speaker 1: feature it a little bit because I was like, hey,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I have it, might as well.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Be in a video, you know, so cool. I love it. Yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 3: it's such a pretty truck. That's gotta be fun working
- 7:37Speaker 3: on it. Oh, yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Did you already have like mechanics skills or how did
- 7:41Speaker 2: you go about like learning how to restore us?
- 7:43Speaker 1: So, like it was already pretty well kept up from
- 7:46Speaker 1: the previous owner, so I didn't have to do like
- 7:48Speaker 1: too much stuff to it. But growing up, like my
- 7:51Speaker 1: dad and I would kind of work on cars here
- 7:53Speaker 1: and there and not being like too crazy, but kind
- 7:55Speaker 1: of learned like the basics. So even with this truck,
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm still like having to like ask friends or friends
- 8:01Speaker 1: of friends like, hey, like do you know a little
- 8:03Speaker 1: bit about this? Because like I'm kind of confused, but like, yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know, learning here and there and YouTube always helps,
- 8:08Speaker 1: so yeah, just learning things.
- 8:10Speaker 3: I love that. That's so fun.
- 8:11Speaker 2: So my last question for you ladies, we're here at
- 8:14Speaker 2: CMA Fest. Do you both have a favorite CMA Fest
- 8:17Speaker 2: moment as an artist or a fan.
- 8:20Speaker 4: So we kind of did like the fan thing yesterday
- 8:22Speaker 4: and we saw Caitlin Buttz and oh my gosh, she
- 8:25Speaker 4: was amazing, Like Bianca and I were literally like tearing
- 8:27Speaker 4: up her, like she's so good.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and like we've heard a little bit of her
- 8:30Speaker 1: music beforehand, but we're like, you know, let's go see her.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We know we like a few of her songs. And
- 8:34Speaker 1: then her live performance like was amazing.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Yeah, we just became like huge fans fans back of
- 8:41Speaker 4: that one.
- 8:42Speaker 2: So yeah, she's like making her like CMA fst debut
- 8:45Speaker 2: this year and I love it.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it so much. Well, it's so fun
- 8:48Speaker 3: seeing you both.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Gabriella and Bianca from Diamond Dixie, thank you so much
- 8:51Speaker 2: for being on Taking a Walk Nashville today.
