Transcript
- 0:00Hey friends family and Christ welcome to another podcast. Thanks for tuning in for sharing for watching listening today
- 0:06We're going to talk about how believers in Christ can be turning down
- 0:11heated cultural rhetoric we see the political
- 0:15Things the disagreements going on. We see a lot of division. We see a lot of
- 0:20incitement of violence and the hypocrisy of the left
- 0:23Many of the same people who talk about being peaceful, right?
- 0:27They're continuing to stir up divisions strife anger through their words and actions
- 0:31Well, I've got Pastor JB Hicks in here
- 0:33We're going to talk about how to respond to this and how to have a biblical perspective on what's going on around us. That's next
- 0:42Welcome to world view matters discussing controversial issues
- 0:47discerning current events
- 0:50Defending biblical Christianity
- 0:52No topic off limits
- 0:55And now here's your host David Fierazzo
- 1:00Friends go to not by works.org to get more info on JB in his great ministry
- 1:06Always something going on. He's busy traveling speaking preaching writing and his latest book you can get at not by works
- 1:14Ministries is called the great last days
- 1:17Apostasy how the American Church is falling away
- 1:21JB brother good to see again. Thank you for being here
- 1:26Enjoy our conversations and you're looking forward to talking about this one today. It's a good one
- 1:31Yeah, it's good. I really appreciate our perspective on these things because some of us we all have our biases as you often mention and some of us
- 1:40You know, we tend to get a little upset when we see the hypocrisy that's going on
- 1:44So I want to bring up one article that we're going to be addressing. There's there's several of them
- 1:48But one of them is over at the Washington stand. It's called
- 1:53inciting political violence the hypocrisy of the left and so what we want to do is not only point out
- 2:01These instances where they're saying one thing and doing another because I mean everybody does it at some point
- 2:08Republican sometimes do it you and I in our church setting sometimes do it, but here we're talking about a different
- 2:16level of
- 2:18I guess volatility in our country now with President Trump being in the office again in in the White House because there's already been two
- 2:25assassination attempts on him
- 2:27There's already been attacks on ice agents. We'll talk about one specific story
- 2:32shootings riots. There's protests and it seems like they come out of the woodwork
- 2:38You know, they're prepping for it China and the the left the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation all of these different
- 2:45groups Antifa and then when a conservative or Republican or someone who does not
- 2:51agree with the left gets in office then they come out and try to make headlines. So JB
- 2:56You're overall thoughts on what's going on and how we really do as Christians
- 3:01Want to be aware of what's happening, but also not get sucked into it in these arguments and the heat and the debates and the the rhetoric that's so off the charts today
- 3:10Yeah, for sure. So what I'd like to do is start kind of at the big picture level
- 3:15But then I'd like to before the shows over zero into some just real practical biblical
- 3:20Advice for all believers to take to heart to kind of help tone down the rhetoric, but
- 3:24Certainly, you know, this this that the evil elite that are really trying to to bring down America and usher in a one-world system
- 3:32They've been using this technique going back literally millennia. I mean it goes back to
- 3:37I've documented as far back as Machiavelli the whole notion of just
- 3:41controlled opposition
- 3:43Getting people to fight with each other if they can get people fighting with each other
- 3:47It makes their job a lot easier to get everybody kind of fall in line behind an evil leader
- 3:51Which of course is setting the stage ultimately for the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, but
- 3:56You know, there's no question that the the far left is absolutely off the charts in terms of their
- 4:02hateful rhetoric their their you know, inciting violence and so forth
- 4:06It's far more common on the far left
- 4:08Conservatives in general they may get upset they may get heated and you have the occasional rogue
- 4:13You know extremist out there that might you know shoot up on abortion clinic or something
- 4:18But that's the exception when it comes to right more so than the rule but the left it's the rule
- 4:23But what I'm suggesting is that
- 4:26first of all
- 4:27For believers to set the example that these are
- 4:31important issues
- 4:32We live in a time where we're very divided both you know politically and in terms of biblical doctrine and so many other issues
- 4:40It's nothing but division you turn on any you know talking head show whether it's Fox News CNN you name it and and and and chances are
- 4:47You're gonna see two pundits just going after each other and personal attacks and a lot of logical fallacies and ad hominem attacks
- 4:55And you know Christian should be better than that. I think I think we should set the example and and rise above it
- 5:01You know proverbs 15 ones as a soft answer
- 5:04turns away
- 5:06Wrath and I think if we listened more
- 5:09And remained calmer we could actually defeat these ridiculous arguments on the left far easier than if we shout
- 5:16Well, I agree at 100% and I also think
- 5:20The thing I say at the end of every podcast keep speaking the truth about things that matter. It's my tagline
- 5:26We do need to speak the truth, but it is in love
- 5:29With patience with grace. I think you also before we got in the air shared that
- 5:34Verse about let your speech always be seasoned with grace so that we're ready to respond
- 5:39To someone and have these conversations. I know they might not want to do that on the on the other side
- 5:45They tend to try to shut you down
- 5:47But we still need to respond in love because we have to remember who we are or whose we are right
- 5:54But let's go back to some of the
- 5:57Just examples in this article and we'll hopefully get a couple other articles too
- 6:01There's another one there where Democrats are literally
- 6:04Calling for blood in the streets
- 6:07Now that may be an expression that may be something that
- 6:12Maybe it's just an idea, right? But with some
- 6:15Idiots some will follow through and really want to do some physical damage
- 6:19But so come for example, let's let's talk about this what they often do they call Trump Hitler or whatever comparing the president of the United States a duly elected
- 6:29President
- 6:31The leader of the freest nation of the world comparing him to an authoritarian dictator like Stalin or Hitler
- 6:39It's one of the most obvious examples of heated rhetoric that's inciting
- 6:44Fear anger. It's a it's it's toxic jb and they they have not stopped doing this even during his first term
- 6:52And we're not I'm not defending everything Trump says or does or every policy
- 6:57Although I appreciate so much of what they're doing as far as the administration goes as a whole
- 7:03But I'm talking about how they are continuing they relentlessly attack and incite people just to be angry at him
- 7:12Yeah, I mean I think some of it is just organic it's just people being
- 7:18You know dumb rhetoric and then yeah like you said the occasional wacko is gonna pick up on it and take it to hard and actually perform some horrific
- 7:25Act but I think I'm more sinister than that. I think a lot of it is not organic
- 7:29I think it's manufactured. I think they know that these words are triggering words for some people
- 7:33They've got you know controlled assets out there that they're trying intentionally to to rile up and get them to do a terrible things
- 7:41But you know, I guess my point and you know me David always like to try to you know show both sides of it
- 7:46You know, it's not just the radical left speaking against conservatives
- 7:50You've got conservatives like musk and Tucker Carlson out there making the Hitler comparisons to other people
- 7:55I mean Hitler's kind of the arch-typal
- 7:57Legal that you can put on your enemy, and so I think you know people will do that on both sides
- 8:03But yeah, it's definitely the case that when when a conservative is in office
- 8:08The liberals just go apoplectic and come out with every conceivable insult they can and it's it's nonstop
- 8:14It's relentless. I just happen to believe that a lot of that is
- 8:18It's manufactured, but then it becomes organic because it just gets into the culture and everybody just jumps on this rhetoric
- 8:25They end wagon. Yeah, well you alluded to political stunts. There are some examples in this article
- 8:30I just want to bring up a couple because I don't know if everybody keeps track of all this
- 8:34You know, it's hard to keep up with all that's going on one of them is
- 8:39Um, let's see Senator Alex Padilla. He's a Democrat in California
- 8:44Homeland Security Secretary Christie known was having a press conference
- 8:48So this guy Padilla people are sitting there
- 8:51Respectfully asking questions whether they agree or disagree with the secretary
- 8:55Christie gnome they're asking questions this guy charges in standing up charges in raising his voice and
- 9:03Yes, he had the right to be there and ask a question, but he rushed the podium and he's yelling
- 9:10At Christie gnome and he was arrested. So what does the left do make him the victim?
- 9:16Because the guys grabbed him and I don't know if they actually cuffed him or not
- 9:19But they took him out took him out of the room
- 9:22So the left uses that that you know what they're going to focus on and of course the leftist media
- 9:28In our nation most of them on the they focus on that too
- 9:31Not on what he was doing not the respectful dialogue on the press conference
- 9:36Right or how it's everyone else is doing
- 9:38But how this guy runs in oh now as soon as they approach him and grab him and take him out. Oh now
- 9:43Now that's wrong. So just yeah the way they show that right now
- 9:48Political stunt is probably the right word for the perfect description
- 9:52But I mean, it's it's seldom about what it's about
- 9:54I mean this guy probably you know
- 9:57Was they probably sat in a room somewhere and decided and came up with a plan. Hey, why don't we do this
- 10:01This will get a lot of attention and it'll get some media airtime and we can make our case and so
- 10:07But again, I you know not to keep coming back to it
- 10:11But we've seen similar things on the right. I remember a guy during a state at Union address that Obama was
- 10:17Speaking that stood up and and interrupted the whole speech by calling him a liar that you know a conservative Republican
- 10:22So you know it goes both ways no question it's a matter of degree and I think the left is far more likely and
- 10:30Common there for those to just you know because they don't have
- 10:34Even a remote moral compass at least conservatives even if they don't know the Lord as their savior
- 10:39They've never placed their faith in Christ and become born again
- 10:42At least they have some semblance of decorum and and you know some moral code more so than the radical left
- 10:50But you know, but it happens on both sides for sure and it's a political stunt
- 10:54I agree I agree one more example before we move on JB
- 10:58And then I've got a question on just that you can answer maybe
- 11:03So Minnesota governor Tim Walts formerly ran for vice president in you know
- 11:07To the 2024 election
- 11:09He's at the University of Minnesota law school. He's doing the commencement speech and he's saying some of course some
- 11:16Radical things he's he's speaking in in just unrepa or irresponsible rhetoric one of the things
- 11:21I'll just give you an example ice agents ice agents are Trump's modern dig is stoppo
- 11:28And I'm thinking okay, how many more references are we gonna hear so the question is what do these
- 11:34Democrats think will happen
- 11:36When they consistently talk like this and make these comparisons and what do they think they'll happen in their
- 11:42Their party or their listeners minds
- 11:45When they hear these things it upsets them it stirs up fear even though it's not true
- 11:50It's an awful comparison. So
- 11:54They're not
- 11:55These are elected representatives
- 11:57But they know
- 11:59They know they're stirring up people. I don't know what their full intentions are
- 12:03But it seems pretty clear by the protests we're seeing and other things
- 12:07Yeah, they definitely know what what it what it could lead to and and again, I think that's by design
- 12:13My view is that there's a lot more controlled things happening than we realize they they love to foment unrest and riots
- 12:19And the olem thing we see this again and again that this isn't just a bunch of people
- 12:24Going crazy organically there. They're prompted. They're given the tools. They're given the bricks to throw there
- 12:30You know, so this is part of it, but but I would also say that you know
- 12:34That that's a conversation that by the way talking about the the new
- 12:39Not biggest a national police force in the history of our country that needs to be had
- 12:43But not in the way the left is having it and not framing it the way the left is framing it
- 12:47But I think it's a fair question to say, you know, do we want
- 12:51Ice agents, you know, arresting people on the streets at whim without due process
- 12:57We you know, those are fair questions just like you know getmo and guantanamo bay those were fair questions
- 13:02Unfortunately, and this goes to the whole point of what we're talking about today, David
- 13:05When you get emotional and you get angry and you you yell and scream and
- 13:10use poor
- 13:11Arguments and call people Hitler you can't get to the core essence of what could be some legitimate
- 13:18Questions. I mean, I'm concerned honestly about some of the people that have come into Washington now and just
- 13:23Sort of taken over again. I'm not picking on Trump
- 13:27I don't even know if he has anything to do. He probably doesn't
- 13:30So it's not him so much as it is these technocrats that have moved in and are I think putting in place a massive
- 13:37Surveillance and police state that that could serve the anti-Christ well one day
- 13:41But you can't even have that discussion if you're trapped in this right left rhetoric where everybody's screaming at each other
- 13:47Yes, I agree 100% that's a good place to just take a pause
- 13:52We'll get back to JB and talk about some other articles when we come back on world view matters

- 15:01so JB
- 15:03Now the one we were I think I alluded to this top or the this article at the very beginning of the podcast
- 15:10Three officers were injured in a shooting in Texas speaking of Texas
- 15:14My goodness does that state need our prayers particularly the the people that were we're so affected a lot of families
- 15:20I think that the death count over a hundred now with the flooding and my goodness
- 15:26Three officers injured in a shooting at Texas border patrol facility the armed man was killed
- 15:32But here we are again another example of a wacko. Maybe he's a fanatic
- 15:37but somehow these people get
- 15:41They in their instigated and they're they're all of a sudden they're acting out on some of the rhetoric
- 15:46We've been hearing I know we're gonna see more cases like this. We always do
- 15:50But um, it's just sad when it does happen and we're finding out more obviously this happened last week
- 15:56But finding out more about the guy and it's just really tragic
- 16:00It is tragic and you know, I think on some level the rhetoric
- 16:04That is so common in in political discourse right now, you know, especially coming from the left with just their
- 16:10Just so over the top and in their you know inciting violence. I think that marginalizes
- 16:16You know serious tragic crimes like this to some extent because people
- 16:21Subconsciously, you know, even sometimes people on the right might think well, you know
- 16:26Maybe maybe he maybe they deserved it or maybe there's a point here or maybe there's you know
- 16:30And there's no excuse for that. There's no justification for what happened
- 16:34But I think people get lost in the fog of this of this of this debate and they they're not able to really separate
- 16:42Fact from emotion and that's that's the real problem and and and I'd love to kind of
- 16:47Shift our attention into the church because I think we because these are important issues politically and they absolutely are
- 16:54People get really riled up about it because that you know, that's the the whole issue of the rhetoric and on TV and in the talking head shows and so forth
- 17:02I think sometimes that tendency bleeds over into our personal life and church life and in a Christian realm with our brothers and sisters in Christ
- 17:11And so we tend to instinctively have the same level of anger and emotion on issues that are not political
- 17:17But even doctrinal issues, you know, whether that's you know music or you know NAR and you know
- 17:23Some of these important issues we just we just start shouting at each other and you know
- 17:29James's caution. I think to the early church James one of the earliest pistols written in the New Testament by the Lord's brother
- 17:35He says so then my beloved brethren let every man be swift to hear
- 17:40Slow to speak and slow to wrath and I think if we did more listening
- 17:45Not to marginalize or minimize the importance of issues even doctrinal issues
- 17:49doctrinal issues are also quite important like political issues
- 17:52But if we would we would listen more
- 17:55We might have a what we might find that we can actually make a difference in helping shape someone's viewpoint
- 18:01Rather than so quickly escalating to anger and I see it I see it in the Bible prophecy world. I see
- 18:07You know, mostly younger Bible prophecy teachers that
- 18:11You know, they'll hear something they disagree with with one of our speakers and they'll say oh, I don't have any use for them
- 18:16And they write the whole thing off and they don't just sit down and have a dialogue and that's what we try to do at NVW
- 18:21Ministers. I'll have people on show that I disagree with on issues because I'd
- 18:26Talk about it and maybe make convert possibly or maybe learn something and be able to defend my view even better from some of
- 18:33Their arguments, but if we all just live in this echo chamber where we're only you know
- 18:37Talking to people that agree with us or when we talk to people who disagree with us
- 18:41If we spend all of our time just calling them names and seeing how
- 18:45Heretical they are
- 18:47Then that doesn't serve anybody, right? Yeah, I want to talk to you about that about the idea of breaking fellowship
- 18:53With a believer over an issue, but I'm sure like I do. I'm sure you get an email or something about or more
- 19:01Emails plural about why did you have that guest on or do you know what I mean? I mean it's like we they don't even want to
- 19:09Give people a dialogue. It's not like we're promoting their viewpoints. For example jb
- 19:15I know
- 19:16Gotley men that have said they
- 19:21Are right on the rapture and they are going to break fellowship with someone who doesn't agree with their
- 19:27View and I'm going wow can't we even talk about these things? What are your thoughts on for example someone that doesn't believe in the pre-tribulation rapture
- 19:36Do you still talk to them are they still your brother explain that of course? Absolutely
- 19:42They're still my brother. Thankfully, David, you know having an accurate
- 19:45Eschatology is not a prerequisite for getting into heaven, right?
- 19:48It's a free gift paid for by the blood of Christ. We'd simply trust in Jesus Christ and him alone for salvation
- 19:54If perfect doctrine was a requirement none of us would get into heaven. So
- 19:59Yeah, I have people on the show all the time that aren't necessarily pre-trib because they are an expert in some other area that I think is a value and will be
- 20:07Helpful and edifying to our audience and and I enjoy talking about it
- 20:11And so like you I get those emails and the first thing I always say is
- 20:15Actually, we don't normally respond
- 20:16But if it's a someone asks me verbally I'll say well, was there anything on that 45-minute show that this guest said that was wrong
- 20:23And they'll go well no, but I know he believes this and I've heard him say that elsewhere. I go
- 20:28Well, okay people know like you said David people know that we're not going to agree with our guest on everything
- 20:32But you know, we're not endorsing them on everything
- 20:35Otherwise, we've just become an echo chamber. I don't even need to have it
- 20:38It can just be all JB all the time, but I love a good theological repartee. I love a good, you know, debate
- 20:46You know, and so we love having these people on for a variety of reasons, but absolutely
- 20:52You know, we need to get back to the to what matters most and if they're a brother in Christ or a sister in Christ
- 20:58We may disagree on some things and they're important thing. I'm not
- 21:01discounting the importance of the doctrine of the rapture. It's critical
- 21:04No one knows that you know better than me. I talk about it all the time. It's very important
- 21:09But that doesn't mean we can't have a conversation with someone who may disagree on that issue
- 21:14Amen brother, and so we don't treat them like I think it's is it James or Jude think it's Jude or Peter the talks about they
- 21:21They crept in among us, but they weren't really of us meaning they all right
- 21:25Yeah, so we don't believe we don't want to we don't want to treat them like a heretic now
- 21:30There's a time and a place for that certainly if someone is a is you know imputing
- 21:35The grace of God and and you know imputing the authority of scripture essentials
- 21:40Of course, then we then we certainly need to be you know distance ourselves
- 21:43And by the way in the new book that you mentioned at the outset we have a whole section in there on the doctrine of separation
- 21:48Which I think is is very comprehensive and it gives people this notion of
- 21:53Of you know of really when should we break fellowship and uh, you know, I've dealt with I've I've had people
- 22:01Disassociate with me because I went on someone else's show and they don't agree with that person
- 22:08And so now they say okay, well, you know, we're not gonna you know be you know hang we're not gonna connect with you
- 22:13And I'm like well, I don't believe what those bet person says yeah, just because I wonder show
- 22:17I mean I'll go on satan show if he'll invite me
- 22:19I just want to I want to share the gospel with as many people as I can
- 22:23so
- 22:24I mean, there's a I mean, that's a little bit extreme obviously there's a point that would not go on somebody's show just but in general
- 22:31I don't have to have only I don't only go on the shows of people I agree with I want to go everywhere, you know
- 22:37So years ago this is completely off topic, but you said going on satan's show so I can talk about another show
- 22:44I was asked this was wow what year are we 25 about 13 years ago. I was asked
- 22:50To go on the daily show with was it john steward
- 22:54His producers producers contacted me why not because anybody knew who I was
- 22:58But because I put out a book called eradicate blotting out god in america and in that I was talking about
- 23:04Marriage god ordained marriage between one man and one woman and I think there was a debate going on in the
- 23:10quote same-sex marriage and I had
- 23:12Clearly laid it out from a biblical perspective
- 23:14I know what they wanted to do
- 23:16JB they wanted to have me on that show and I would have taken the invitation if it would have been a fair
- 23:22Platform to just have a conversation back and forth and share my views and the truth biblically
- 23:28But I asked them I said okay, is this going to be edited or can I speak and answer questions
- 23:34And have it not be chopped up and I I don't remember exactly how I asked them
- 23:39But they were honest and said no where we've got to have the rights to pull whatever we want and we use it
- 23:45I said
- 23:46Sorry, and you know I watched that show whenever it aired and there was another guest they had on another
- 23:52Christian conservative from a
- 23:56What is it discernment ministry and they made him look like this right wing
- 24:02fundamentalist old
- 24:04Out of touch radical and it was just so sad they barely gave him airtime
- 24:09But just had him on to make fun of and that could have been me
- 24:12So JB even though you'd go on satan show there are some shows you there are some shows you should not go on
- 24:18I just think it's interesting that my reference to Satan made you think of John Stewart
- 24:22I mean, I'm just saying that's people can draw whatever conclusions they want
- 24:26But you know what's and this I I know JB were friends we can be completely off topic when you see
- 24:31I see the commercials sometimes for that show. I see these people
- 24:35They're beaten the drum and I trump it's truly trump to arrangement syndrome, but I think it's more
- 24:40Demonic because we have to understand this there's a spiritual dynamic spiritual warfare is very real
- 24:47And what drives these people if they are not of christ
- 24:52They're of a different spirit they're anti christ what drives them is spiritual and sometimes you can see it in their eyes
- 24:59And you can see just they are evil your thoughts on that as we get rid of the wrap up
- 25:05Yeah, no question that that hour you know the evening, you know taught late night talk show
- 25:10It's probably some of the most demonic presence coming through the airwaves at any given point in the day
- 25:15But yeah, I'd love to just you know bring it back again like we have a few times already to just some solutions and some answers
