- 0:54Speaker 1: Dak Prescott against the Jets. More than five and a
- 0:59Speaker 1: half rush yards, we like that. I like Bryce Young
- 1:03Speaker 1: who's had a rough year, but he's playing the Miami
- 1:06Speaker 1: Dolphins defense, which is a joke. And this feels like
- 1:09Speaker 1: Bryce Young might get bench Randy Dalton if he doesn't
- 1:12Speaker 1: ball out here. So I'm gonna go more than one
- 1:15Speaker 1: hundred and ninety five and a half yards passing, then
- 1:18Speaker 1: we're gonna go to the Giants and Saints game. The
- 1:21Speaker 1: Saints are in a trosis atrocious football, atrocious football team,
- 1:25Speaker 1: even though they seem to hang around in every game
- 1:27Speaker 1: that they playing. Give me the rookie boys. I'm talking
- 1:30Speaker 1: about Cam Scattabo more than sixty five and a half
- 1:33Speaker 1: rushing yards, and I like Jackson Dart more than forty
- 1:37Speaker 1: one and a half rushing yards. And then finally the
- 1:40Speaker 1: hometown hero, my boy Kyler Murray, Yes, Sir, Mighty Mouse,
- 1:45Speaker 1: more than thirty one and a half rushing yards against
- 1:48Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans, the worst team in the NFL.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Go.

- 2:07Speaker 1: We got two legends, two living legends. Man uh Havoc,
- 2:11Speaker 1: one half of Mob Deep, and my brother al Alchemist.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Welcome to the podcast, ladies and gentlemen, Thank you good looking.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It is an honor to have both of you here.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Me and Alchemist have been talking about doing a podcast
- 2:23Speaker 1: for it feels like the better part of the last
- 2:25Speaker 1: decade in my life is overdue, very much overdue. Have Man,
- 2:30Speaker 1: it is nice to meet you, bro. You're You're I'm
- 2:32Speaker 1: a fucking Mob Deep stand so.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Can you tell me, man, this new album. I got
- 2:38Speaker 1: to listen to it and it's it's kind of like
- 2:42Speaker 1: it was very much like it felt like y'all just
- 2:46Speaker 1: recorded this shit. And while listening to the album, I
- 2:49Speaker 1: got I got like a literal emotional because I was like, damn,
- 2:51Speaker 1: like this is this is probably the last of the records, right, Like.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I mean, for me, I would say yeah, because you
- 3:01Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. But Prodigy has he recorded a lot, recorded.
- 3:06Speaker 2: A lot, you know what I mean.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But you know, for you, man, what was the like emotionally,
- 3:11Speaker 1: what was it like crafting this album? Because it does
- 3:15Speaker 1: like I said, it sounds so cohesive. It sounds like
- 3:18Speaker 1: everything was cut like you know, it's such a great project.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Man.
- 3:22Speaker 1: What was it like for you just emotionally just going
- 3:24Speaker 1: back to mob deep mode without he being here.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah, for me, it was a bittersweet, you know what
- 3:29Speaker 3: I mean. It was like it was something that I
- 3:31Speaker 3: wanted to do for a long time, you know what
- 3:33Speaker 3: I mean. But yeah, you gotta let the grieving part breathe, right,
- 3:37Speaker 3: But then at some point it's like you want to
- 3:40Speaker 3: do something to you know, send your comrade off, like
- 3:46Speaker 3: with twenty one gun salute, you know what I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 3: with a project, you know what I mean, because he deserves.
- 3:51Speaker 2: That, you understand what I'm saying. So it was a
- 3:53Speaker 2: bittersweet because these moments in.
- 3:55Speaker 3: The album where I'm hearing him say things that are
- 3:59Speaker 3: like Primini you know what I'm saying, And it's.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Like, shit, fucked me up, you know what i mean.
- 4:05Speaker 3: And I'm sure it wasn't planned that way, but that's
- 4:07Speaker 3: how it felt, and it kind of evoked those emotions.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Out of me. What about for you, Al, because I
- 4:13Speaker 1: know you and p were so locked in. Yeah, you
- 4:16Speaker 1: know some I think some of his best workers, your
- 4:18Speaker 1: guys's two projects together. But like, what was that like
- 4:21Speaker 1: going back in that place I'm sure getting those vocals
- 4:24Speaker 1: pulled up, like like being a part of the creation.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Of this and shit was like watching your life flash
- 4:30Speaker 4: in front of your eyes.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You know.
- 4:31Speaker 4: It was like spiritual, you know, because you know, like
- 4:34Speaker 4: my most pride possession is like sometimes I think, you know,
- 4:37Speaker 4: if the house, the studio burns on fire, like what
- 4:39Speaker 4: do you I grabbed the hard drives and the footage
- 4:43Speaker 4: because we filmed a lot and it's like, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 4: he was like a prophet and we knew that when
- 4:50Speaker 4: he was here too. We used to call him science
- 4:51Speaker 4: like he was so ahead on so many things. And
- 4:55Speaker 4: when we go back and listen to these records and
- 4:57Speaker 4: like look at the footage, it's just like it reaffirms it.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Like we knew when he was here, but now when
- 5:01Speaker 4: you look at it and you hear it, you're like
- 5:03Speaker 4: you realize his value and like what's missing, you know
- 5:07Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like the void of peep, his the
- 5:09Speaker 4: way he thought, his spirit, his mentality, that's what made mobdy,
- 5:13Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, Like, and it's like going
- 5:16Speaker 4: back and us all getting back together. That's to me,
- 5:20Speaker 4: on a person, on a spiritual level, it means everything
- 5:22Speaker 4: because I wouldn't be Nobody would know me if it
- 5:24Speaker 4: wasn't one hundred percent man, So you know that's everything
- 5:27Speaker 4: for me, one hundred percent.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You guys getting together and crafting thiss like, hey, we
- 5:32Speaker 1: got some vocals here, maybe they don't fit on the beat.
- 5:35Speaker 1: They were cut, Like, can you kind of walk me
- 5:37Speaker 1: through what that's like, because you always hear like when
- 5:40Speaker 1: you have to put together in an album when someone's
- 5:42Speaker 1: not there, it's very much like it's got to be
- 5:45Speaker 1: a cohesive process between y'all, but it also has to
- 5:48Speaker 1: be like y'all got to make sure it feels good,
- 5:51Speaker 1: like what was that? What you guys are getting verses
- 5:53Speaker 1: from different places, different hard drives coming together? Are the
- 5:56Speaker 1: song ideas? Are you pretty much taking what he's talking
- 5:59Speaker 1: about and rolling with that. I think of a record
- 6:01Speaker 1: like taj Mahal, Yeah, that's like a storytelling record.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I mean, you know Al was in possession
- 6:07Speaker 2: of that. He had that.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But as I was watching Ol, you know, fuck around
- 6:12Speaker 3: with prodigies vocals. He made this shit look so easy,
- 6:16Speaker 3: you understand what I'm saying. But at the same time,
- 6:19Speaker 3: I saw him doing surgery, you know what I mean.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So I was coming.
- 6:23Speaker 3: With with what I was doing, you know what I'm
- 6:25Speaker 3: saying with some of these vocals, But watching Al, like
- 6:29Speaker 3: the surgery that he was doing, it was like it's magic.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Noah for sure for you, Like I'm sure, Al, you
- 6:36Speaker 1: probably have insane amount because you were really Like I
- 6:40Speaker 1: feel like when it came to U and P, that
- 6:42Speaker 1: was like we had a lot, You had a lot.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, still do, but yeah, I mean endless,
- 6:50Speaker 4: endless amounts of stuff. And you know when it came
- 6:52Speaker 4: time to make the record, I mean, you know, we
- 6:54Speaker 4: decided we were going to make a new Mob Deep record,
- 6:56Speaker 4: and we all came together and it was like when
- 6:58Speaker 4: it was trying to make records, obviously what P has
- 7:02Speaker 4: laid down is what we had to work with.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So he was really the leader of this album. The
- 7:05Speaker 1: more I think about.
- 7:06Speaker 4: It, because it was like we had to sit and
- 7:08Speaker 4: listen to what he was talking about, which would make
- 7:10Speaker 4: sense honestly, and then.
- 7:11Speaker 1: We would sit and have you know, this dude is
- 7:13Speaker 1: a wizard with it.
- 7:14Speaker 4: So it was like in two seconds we would sit
- 7:16Speaker 4: with it and be like I and he would compliment it.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Or it was some records that they already had recorded,
- 7:21Speaker 4: so I think it's a mixture of stuff, but I
- 7:23Speaker 4: feel like everything has never been released and it feels
- 7:27Speaker 4: so fresh.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It feels cohesive too, which is really hard to do.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I mean, we've rocked on so many you know, so
- 7:34Speaker 4: many campaigns that it was like and every time I
- 7:36Speaker 4: knew my role was to accent you know what I mean,
- 7:39Speaker 4: because have is the sound of mob deep iced to
- 7:42Speaker 4: sit and listening to and making beats in the studio
- 7:45Speaker 4: and just be mind blown, Like I learned a lot
- 7:47Speaker 4: of drum patterns and like we would super inspire each other,
- 7:50Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So it was like my
- 7:52Speaker 4: role every time, even from the Chris Lightly Days Rest
- 7:55Speaker 4: in Peace, he used to be like Havels doing the record,
- 7:58Speaker 4: bringing al a couple joints, maybe get one or two
- 8:00Speaker 4: more beats from someone else.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But that was really the formula.
- 8:03Speaker 4: So when it came down to do this, we stuck
- 8:05Speaker 4: to the formula, like have you making the bones and
- 8:08Speaker 4: meat and potatoes. I'll bring a couple of spices and
- 8:10Speaker 4: then our minds together working on the record was what
- 8:12Speaker 4: I think made it cohesive.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Hey, we gott to stop the interview to tell you
- 8:15Speaker 1: about our good folks. Odd socks Man Now these are
- 8:18Speaker 1: the odd Socks Basics, ladies and gentlemen. Now when I
- 8:21Speaker 1: tell you this is a product that every single day
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'm alive for the last five six years I have
- 8:30Speaker 1: used are these odd Socks Basics. Now, what odd Socks
- 8:32Speaker 1: is doing is they're kind of reinventing the sock game,
- 8:34Speaker 1: if we're being honest, and the underwear game. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: a lot of times you'll hit Walmart, you'll hit Target,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you'll get some socks, you get some draws. They're affordable,
- 8:42Speaker 1: stand up with holes in them. They don't really feel great.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Not odd Socks, Ladies, jumper. These odd Socks Basics are
- 8:49Speaker 1: the most comfortable socks I've ever had on my feet.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Not only that, but you're super affordable. Fourteen ninety nine
- 8:56Speaker 1: for a six pack. That's it odds Socks dot Com.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And if you don't believe me, sock check full. Wait,
- 9:06Speaker 1: that's the ex is on the other side. There we go. Ah,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you see that. Sorry you had to see those white legs.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But it's so dope that you know, I get to
- 9:17Speaker 1: push a product that I use and that I love.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So odd Socks they got the six pack of socks
- 9:22Speaker 1: for fourteen ninety nine at odd socks dot com. The basics.
- 9:25Speaker 1: This is the future of socks, the future of underwear,
- 9:29Speaker 1: comfort and affordability. I'm talking about affordability without jeopardizing the
- 9:34Speaker 1: quality because they are the most comfortable socks you ever
- 9:36Speaker 1: put on your feet. Ladies and gents and the ETCeteras.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Got to show love to the ETCeteras. We like all
- 9:42Speaker 1: the stripes on the flag. There are odd socks dot Com. Man,
- 9:45Speaker 1: much love to my brothers over there. Make sure you
- 9:47Speaker 1: get some right now, odd socks dot Com. Let's get
- 9:50Speaker 1: back to the interview for you have. I'm curious, man,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you've seen this guy since he was a nobody, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: now he's one of the most prolific hip hop producers
- 9:57Speaker 1: of all time. I just had this conversation. I think
- 10:00Speaker 1: he's this is just my personal opinion, my personal I
- 10:04Speaker 1: don't even think it's an argument that he's a top
- 10:05Speaker 1: five producer of all time at this point, right, I
- 10:07Speaker 1: feel like we're in the middle of one of the
- 10:09Speaker 1: most legendary runs we've ever seen a producer beyond twenty
- 10:13Speaker 1: twenty five alone put it in the rafters, right, But
- 10:17Speaker 1: what is it like seeing this guy just turn into
- 10:22Speaker 1: the alchemist?
- 10:23Speaker 2: Okay? So I called Alchemists a couple of days ago.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I spoke to him on the phone and I'm like, Yo,
- 10:29Speaker 3: do you realize like what you're doing, Like do you
- 10:32Speaker 3: feel it? Because sometimes when you're doing something you don't
- 10:35Speaker 3: really you in it.
- 10:36Speaker 2: You live in it, so you know, you know what
- 10:38Speaker 2: I mean, You're like, oh, okay, whatever, you know what
- 10:40Speaker 2: I mean. He acknowledges that, but I acknowledge it as well.
- 10:43Speaker 3: But to see it from to go from a guy
- 10:47Speaker 3: that I just met living in Soulho with a drum
- 10:51Speaker 3: machine in his crib, just banging out these dope ass
- 10:54Speaker 3: beats to now being at the forefront of a lot
- 10:59Speaker 3: of dope project it's just coming out and his name
- 11:02Speaker 3: just being like Alchemist, Alchemist, Alchemists, like he's like the
- 11:05Speaker 3: go to guy, like people that he probably don't even
- 11:08Speaker 3: speak to, is like leaving bread crumb tails like I
- 11:11Speaker 3: would have worked with Alba.
- 11:14Speaker 1: To see that.
- 11:15Speaker 3: It's like, it's just like it was like me watching Prodigy,
- 11:19Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like transform from Juvenile Hell
- 11:23Speaker 3: to the infamous album. You know what I'm saying, It's
- 11:26Speaker 3: like watching you know, out from you know, late nineties
- 11:30Speaker 3: to now. It's like if I wasn't close to it,
- 11:33Speaker 3: I wouldn't even fucking believe it. I'd be like, oh shit,
- 11:35Speaker 3: But I seeing him work, so you know what I mean.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You know what I appreciate too. I was like right now,
- 11:40Speaker 1: like I feel like you could track your entire career
- 11:44Speaker 1: and like, sonically, obviously there's alchemists like signature shit, but
- 11:50Speaker 1: I feel like sonically you're you, Like you continue to
- 11:53Speaker 1: just evolve, Like like I feel like first Infantry don't
- 11:57Speaker 1: sound like anything that's come out this year production wise,
- 11:59Speaker 1: Like it's like a crazy journey with music. Have thos.
- 12:02Speaker 4: It's like you're always kind of trying to like we
- 12:05Speaker 4: do this for ourselves first. I'll say, like, I know,
- 12:09Speaker 4: I have to say the same thing, like we love it,
- 12:12Speaker 4: you know, like like if I make a good beat
- 12:14Speaker 4: and I'm excited, I might just text it to him
- 12:16Speaker 4: or send him a clip of it while I'm making it. Right,
- 12:18Speaker 4: we do this because we love it, you know. And
- 12:20Speaker 4: I think that's the thing that always been for me,
- 12:26Speaker 4: Like I need to stimulate myself first, right, So as
- 12:30Speaker 4: you're creating over the years, certain things you move on
- 12:33Speaker 4: and it maybe I could even recognize that it was
- 12:35Speaker 4: a style at a certain time that might.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Have peaked, so to speak.
- 12:38Speaker 4: But it's like as artists, we always find different things
- 12:41Speaker 4: that's gonna inspire us. So I'm always trying to like
- 12:45Speaker 4: add another tool on my belt, you know what I'm saying, Like, Okay,
- 12:50Speaker 4: I'm paying attention to more sonics now, or I'm adding
- 12:53Speaker 4: this or that or whatever it is that makes you
- 12:55Speaker 4: continue the journey of what we're doing. And I feel like,
- 12:59Speaker 4: I know personal, like I could hook up a beat
- 13:01Speaker 4: better than I could in the late nineties. All the
- 13:04Speaker 4: beats I'm doing now better or worse is for everyone
- 13:06Speaker 4: else to decide, But I know confidently I'm going in
- 13:09Speaker 4: the path for I'm still having fun with it and
- 13:12Speaker 4: I feel like I could get better still because it's
- 13:14Speaker 4: you know, you want to I feel like doing this
- 13:17Speaker 4: forever and then dying, it's better than going like this
- 13:20Speaker 4: and then follow Yeah, I think we could just keep
- 13:23Speaker 4: rising forever. I might be out of my mind, but
- 13:25Speaker 4: that's just where I'm at with it. So you know,
- 13:27Speaker 4: it's a blessing. And you know, first of all, like
- 13:30Speaker 4: for him to say those good things about me that
- 13:32Speaker 4: that means everything to me, or Premiere or the people
- 13:36Speaker 4: I love you about to go on to premiere like
- 13:40Speaker 4: this guy's fucking tours right now. But just to get
- 13:43Speaker 4: to get the love from the people who you respect,
- 13:45Speaker 4: it means everything. And you know, like like I said,
- 13:47Speaker 4: I could, I owe so much to have and the
- 13:50Speaker 4: mom so now that in the midst of all of this,
- 13:53Speaker 4: what better could I do than to take all the
- 13:55Speaker 4: light and be like Mob Deep, the best rap group
- 13:58Speaker 4: of all time. This is why y'all know me and
- 14:01Speaker 4: really like stamp the world with the project we got right.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Now, for for us, for the legacy, for p for
- 14:07Speaker 1: the world. Really have you have dibbled and dabbled in
- 14:11Speaker 1: like collab projects with other artists, Yeah, I'm curious, Like
- 14:15Speaker 1: I would love to see like you go on to
- 14:17Speaker 1: run where you're just locking in full albums with just
- 14:22Speaker 1: I feel like kind of you know, get the.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Owl sauce a little and just go crazy do the
- 14:27Speaker 5: vinyl shit like because like for people who don't know
- 14:30Speaker 5: like you're I mean outside of what you've done from
- 14:33Speaker 5: All Deep, like you did Jada Kisses, why, I mean,
- 14:36Speaker 5: so many fucking classic records shit on the.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Games album, I mean Kanye like yeah, but are you
- 14:43Speaker 1: like it? Like do you feel like that's something that
- 14:45Speaker 1: you would want to do absolutely.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You know what I mean that as a producer that
- 14:50Speaker 3: you know you would love to lock in with different artists,
- 14:53Speaker 3: you know, watching al you know what I'm saying, just
- 14:55Speaker 3: take it to.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The next level.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Of course, is one of those things you like, oh shit,
- 15:00Speaker 3: like let me lock in with a few artists or
- 15:02Speaker 3: whatever it is.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But I'm so much of a like a.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Beat order that you know, you know what I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 3: I gotta stap out of it, like you know what
- 15:12Speaker 3: I'm saying.
- 15:13Speaker 1: To be like letting things go many yeah, you know, because.
- 15:15Speaker 2: They about babies, but you know, it's trying to let
- 15:18Speaker 2: them grow some wings.
- 15:19Speaker 1: One hundred percent. You mentioned Juvenile Hell a little bit earlier.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I think a lot of people always maybe associate The
- 15:26Speaker 1: Infamous as your first album, but it was jun Hell.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Can you kind of walk me through what it was
- 15:32Speaker 1: like putting out that first album. It's obviously an underappreciated album,
- 15:37Speaker 1: the crazy iconic album cover, and then kind of transitioning
- 15:42Speaker 1: from that to in my opinion, one of the greatest
- 15:45Speaker 1: hip hop albums of all time, you know, and and
- 15:47Speaker 1: the growth that was about two year process, right, the
- 15:51Speaker 1: growth between those two albums is insane.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, because you got to grow up fast and when
- 15:56Speaker 3: you fucking with this industry, you know what I mean,
- 15:58Speaker 3: It's like boom, we made the Juvenile.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Hell, we was young.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I wasn't fully into my production bag, but you know
- 16:06Speaker 3: I tried on a couple of tracks, you know, stomp them, mouth,
- 16:09Speaker 3: hold on the floord, hit from the Back. It's like
- 16:12Speaker 3: that is the like you know, intro to the Mob
- 16:17Speaker 3: Deep infamous album, if you will, you know what I'm saying,
- 16:19Speaker 3: that's like insight into it, like what would be to come?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Like right, nervous a little bit whatever, get to Loud Records.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Steve Rifkin, he said, Yo, do whatever the fuck you
- 16:28Speaker 3: want to do. That's even more nervous, Like you.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Know what I mean, no direction you want saying, do
- 16:40Speaker 1: whatever you want.
- 16:40Speaker 3: It's like you're begging to do another album, right, Okay,
- 16:45Speaker 3: do what you want.
- 16:47Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So we want to hear It's like okay, now it's
- 16:51Speaker 2: like you get what you want, and it's like what
- 16:52Speaker 2: do you do? What do you do? And what do
- 16:55Speaker 2: you do?
- 16:56Speaker 3: Is you kind of like tune out, you tune out,
- 17:00Speaker 3: you make the album, but you definitely do have other
- 17:03Speaker 3: material out there that set the ball, and that.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Would be illmatic. So it's like and then Wu Tang Clan.
- 17:09Speaker 2: So you like you look at.
- 17:10Speaker 1: The fantastic chambers. Yeah, what a climate? What a climate?
- 17:15Speaker 2: And that's even scarier, Like you know what I say,
- 17:17Speaker 2: It just keeps getting scary about a minute, you know
- 17:19Speaker 2: what I mean? But hey, when you're young, you have
- 17:22Speaker 2: that invincible gene and you're gonna do it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: What were the bones that were kind of set, Like
- 17:27Speaker 1: the first couple of joints that you guys worked on
- 17:30Speaker 1: for Infamous where you were like, Okay, this is this
- 17:33Speaker 1: is kind of what we're on right now.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Like I would have to say Shook Ones and Trife
- 17:41Speaker 3: Life Fire.
- 17:42Speaker 1: So those like Shook Ones was early in the recording.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Process, was like one of the first ones. Ye was
- 17:50Speaker 3: that the demo that was just a demo that was.
- 17:53Speaker 1: On you ever heard that one? I heard?
- 17:55Speaker 4: That's when you could really hear what was about to happen,
- 17:58Speaker 4: Like I feel when you hear that, it's like that
- 18:01Speaker 4: was that was the era of the filter.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So you guys get that, you guys figure that out
- 18:06Speaker 1: and you're like okay, because I feel like you know,
- 18:09Speaker 1: a song like Shook Ones is obviously you're I mean,
- 18:11Speaker 1: it's it's one of the most iconic songs ever.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Uh.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And then when we think about like, I don't know
- 18:17Speaker 1: if anyone's rapped over another, Like when it comes to
- 18:19Speaker 1: people who like freestyle over records, it's probably shook Ones
- 18:23Speaker 1: and who shot you like in terms of you know,
- 18:27Speaker 1: the go to like throwing a beat let's rap, but
- 18:30Speaker 1: that beat man is so sinister, it's so like, did
- 18:35Speaker 1: you have any idea, like when you first cooked that
- 18:37Speaker 1: up and you playing for p what's his reaction? Because
- 18:40Speaker 1: that is one of those.
- 18:42Speaker 2: That's what you know, this is the story out there.
- 18:44Speaker 3: But they like, oh, we had to stop them from
- 18:46Speaker 3: it racing the track because I probably would have just
- 18:48Speaker 3: turned it off.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Nobody was there. They came up stairs and he's like,
- 18:52Speaker 2: what's this. I was like, oh, you know, some track
- 18:55Speaker 2: got made. I'm about to you know, resett because you know,
- 18:57Speaker 2: because you were fucking with it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: You didn't love it while you were making it here.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Because you know, the confidence level wasn't it you know
- 19:03Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 19:04Speaker 3: And you know, but that was the time when when
- 19:06Speaker 3: the crew came around and said, oh yo, this is
- 19:08Speaker 3: dope when a crew was an element to your tracks,
- 19:12Speaker 3: but unseen right because they did they.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Drinking forties and you around that that that vibe is there,
- 19:19Speaker 2: but you know it was it was dope. Like they
- 19:22Speaker 2: came in the room, Prodigy came like, nah, no, keep
- 19:25Speaker 2: that track.
- 19:25Speaker 1: And when the beats on and he's in the booth,
- 19:29Speaker 1: is the first thing he because I'm sure he's fucking
- 19:31Speaker 1: around it is the first thing he says as to
- 19:32Speaker 1: all the kills on one hundred dollars bills? Is that
- 19:34Speaker 1: like the first right? Like the ad libs, the ad libs.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yeah, And he didn't plan it, he didn't write it down.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I'm sure it just popped in his head right then
- 19:41Speaker 3: and there, you know, like and that's who he was
- 19:43Speaker 3: like like you know what I mean, just coming up
- 19:46Speaker 3: with just you know, ad libs, just this out of this.
- 19:49Speaker 1: World for you man. Did you guys understand like how
- 19:54Speaker 1: big of a deal it was, because you said we
- 19:57Speaker 1: were talking about climate right and at that time, Purple
- 20:00Speaker 1: Tape Illmatic Wu Tang. But I feel like I for
- 20:04Speaker 1: an Eye is like one of those records that is
- 20:07Speaker 1: like just such a time piece to an era, and
- 20:12Speaker 1: it kind of is like you know, you could go
- 20:15Speaker 1: back and there was a lot of posse cuts back then,
- 20:17Speaker 1: but you know, some of them are like hitting miss
- 20:19Speaker 1: Like to me, this was like a record where you
- 20:21Speaker 1: got like four of the greatest of all time, like
- 20:24Speaker 1: at their peak and like delivering at their peak. It's
- 20:28Speaker 1: kind of like the seventy two and ten Chicago Bulls season, right,
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like who got on the record first? Was it Ray?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Was it Nas?
- 20:37Speaker 3: Like, oh, it was actually it was Prodigy, Well obviously
- 20:41Speaker 3: because he set it off with the chorus. Yeah, I
- 20:44Speaker 3: mean he already had did the chorus before Ray and
- 20:50Speaker 3: Nas even got to the studio, so I think they
- 20:52Speaker 3: was familiar with the chorus and everything like that. And
- 20:55Speaker 3: they came in and I could tell by the way
- 20:57Speaker 3: they was looking and by the way.
- 20:59Speaker 2: They was pete in the chorus that this ship must
- 21:02Speaker 2: be fire.
- 21:02Speaker 1: So they came into the three together.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Ry and Nas yeah, came in like what's that night?
- 21:07Speaker 2: Like you know, at the time, it's.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Like you can't really believe you got Nas in the
- 21:12Speaker 3: fucking studio, you know what I mean?
- 21:14Speaker 2: And then let alone Ray Kwan from like you know.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I mean at the time, like you said, you guys
- 21:19Speaker 1: are coming off with juvenile. Hell, the infamous isn't made yet.
- 21:21Speaker 1: The fact you guys got those guys there, that's a
- 21:23Speaker 1: big deal for you.
- 21:24Speaker 3: That's how powerful Shook Ones was, right right, That's how
- 21:27Speaker 3: powerful that song was.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Like, so the record was out while you were finishing, Yes.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So that record heat heating up the streets.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Yeah, because it came out in ninety four. So Shook
- 21:38Speaker 2: Ones made them go, oh shit.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Let's go see what I have got over there? What
- 21:43Speaker 1: else you got?
- 21:44Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So I got lucky, you
- 21:46Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 21:46Speaker 3: So you know what I mean, they had they because
- 21:49Speaker 3: you know, those guys don't fucking rap with just anybody,
- 21:52Speaker 3: you know what I mean, even if you're from their neighborhood,
- 21:54Speaker 3: it don't matter, Like they're not going to do a
- 21:55Speaker 3: song with you.
- 21:56Speaker 2: So the fact that they did, you know what I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 2: just was the testament.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I think my favorite beat on the album is give
- 22:02Speaker 1: up the Goods.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Those drums are too crazy too, right, Yeah, he's a
- 22:08Speaker 3: fucking drum master, Jesus man.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I learned from him. Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 4: That fucked all of us up back then, just trying
- 22:14Speaker 4: to figure out how he was programming those drums even
- 22:16Speaker 4: in programming on one Love.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I think that was I think this was a DMX
- 22:21Speaker 1: freestyle or something over give up the goods? Am I tripping?
- 22:24Speaker 1: I think I think I think there was something with
- 22:26Speaker 1: DMX over because's when I first heard the beating and
- 22:28Speaker 1: I went back when I was like, do you understand
- 22:29Speaker 1: I was born in eighty seven, so this I eighty seven?
- 22:33Speaker 1: Young man? He's a young man.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I mean, man, we we aged like milk us whites
- 22:39Speaker 4: might be the best snare. That snare might be the
- 22:41Speaker 4: best snare of all time, oh my god. Or to
- 22:43Speaker 4: burn is also burn is a great snare, Oh my gosh.
- 22:48Speaker 4: So you know, working with good snares over here, it's
- 22:50Speaker 4: always a good thing. Start with a good snare. Good day,
- 22:52Speaker 4: you already know.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Man. Want to give a shout to slap Woods for

- 23:57Speaker 1: comes out? I mean, did you guys immediately feel like cemented,
- 24:04Speaker 1: like or was that something that came with time, like,
- 24:07Speaker 1: because I feel like, you know, I feel like even
- 24:09Speaker 1: when we think about Illmatic, like ill Maadic, as big
- 24:11Speaker 1: as it was, was like kind of underground, like it
- 24:13Speaker 1: wasn't like the biggest commercial success at the time, like
- 24:16Speaker 1: I think it just went platinum, which is crazy, Like recently,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I didn't realize that.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Now when you look back, you realize, oh, it wasn't
- 24:24Speaker 4: a super commercial smash, but.
- 24:26Speaker 1: For y'all, like and by the way, shout out to
- 24:29Speaker 1: riff Kid because like Loud have just had just the
- 24:31Speaker 1: craziest roster of rappers of all time. I think. So
- 24:34Speaker 1: it was just and it was all dope shit. But
- 24:38Speaker 1: like like like you guys make the infamous. It's a
- 24:42Speaker 1: classic four and a half mics and a source should
- 24:45Speaker 1: have been five, but there were some amazing albums. Ago
- 24:49Speaker 1: four and a half. Is the pressure on for Hell
- 24:53Speaker 1: on Earth?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Hell? Fucking yeah. The press was super orange. It was
- 24:59Speaker 2: it was it was on because I was like, I'm
- 25:01Speaker 2: definitely nothing making as good as.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, how do we follow this ship up a
- 25:06Speaker 1: year later?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Fuck? It just make it more grimy? Yeah, just get
- 25:11Speaker 2: more darka more grimy.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Because you definitely definitely was a darker and grimier album
- 25:16Speaker 1: for sure.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Those Beach on Hell and.
- 25:18Speaker 6: If you go back to him right now or like
- 25:20Speaker 6: Insane even up Fast, Yeah, you were on I don't
- 25:26Speaker 6: know what you were on at that time. It's like, okay,
- 25:31Speaker 6: just go Darka.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I always wondered because I talked to Steve about this.
- 25:35Speaker 1: He said that because he was typed with Tupac. He said,
- 25:38Speaker 1: Tupac came up to him at some party in La.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It's backed him in the back of the head and
- 25:41Speaker 1: he's like, yo, were good, And he was like, yeah, yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it's good. The little kids from Queens, It's all good.
- 25:47Speaker 1: It's a rap shit what y'all did. Obviously, you know,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I think Drop a Gem on Him is one of
- 25:52Speaker 1: the more slept on records, not even in terms of
- 25:56Speaker 1: like it being like a quote unquote like a part
- 25:59Speaker 1: of a beef history, but just as a joint like
- 26:01Speaker 1: track number two, that's a strong track number two. Were
- 26:06Speaker 1: you guys at all, because back then, I feel like
- 26:08Speaker 1: in the nineties we didn't have Instagram, we didn't have
- 26:10Speaker 1: any of this shit. Were you, like, was anybody hesitant
- 26:14Speaker 1: about the Tupac line being on the album? Or were
- 26:16Speaker 1: you guys like fuck it, let it fly? No?
- 26:18Speaker 3: No, I mean, look, man, we're from Queensbvigas. We ain't
- 26:21Speaker 3: give a fuck, we care. We was just like we
- 26:24Speaker 3: hit for the smoke, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 26:27Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, but.
- 26:30Speaker 2: We was ready for it. We was ready for war
- 26:31Speaker 2: because he came at us.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he came at us, So we was like no,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I mean this hip hop is hip hop for sure.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy too because if you think back
- 26:41Speaker 1: like that era, I always think, what would it be
- 26:45Speaker 1: like if we had the Tupac East Coast Beef in
- 26:49Speaker 1: twenty twenty five with Instagram? It probably wouldn't be that
- 26:53Speaker 1: many records getting made. It would be like It's like
- 26:55Speaker 1: like I just saw, Yeah, I just saw a couple
- 26:58Speaker 1: of artists like going back and forth on Twitter, and
- 27:00Speaker 1: it was just like Jesus, like, can't y'all make some joints?
- 27:06Speaker 1: This album man infinite?
- 27:08Speaker 2: For you? What was you know?
- 27:11Speaker 1: What was the record that you I want to eat
- 27:13Speaker 1: you guys to answer this, but just the record that
- 27:15Speaker 1: each of you felt like felt the best in terms
- 27:21Speaker 1: of like this is because I know some like you
- 27:25Speaker 1: guys had to put some stuff together. Were there a
- 27:27Speaker 1: lot of joints that you guys had already started working
- 27:29Speaker 1: on before he passed or I.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Don't remember working on any joints before he passed, But.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Like, what's you join when you finished it? Where you
- 27:37Speaker 1: got were you like, yeah, this is this feels good man,
- 27:41Speaker 1: And it's a whole album of those.
- 27:42Speaker 3: By the way, man, I'm like tos mah I was
- 27:47Speaker 3: gonna say to Mahall. When he sent me that, he
- 27:50Speaker 3: sounded excited, you know what I mean.
- 27:52Speaker 1: He was like, Yo, and it's a time because I
- 27:55Speaker 1: don't think that tos Ma Hall exists anymore, right, didn't
- 27:56Speaker 1: they knock that motherfucker down?
- 27:59Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 28:00Speaker 1: I agree. The Talks Hall record is crazy.
- 28:02Speaker 3: So yeah, when he sent me that, and he sent it,
- 28:06Speaker 3: he was like, yo, you know, drop a verse to
- 28:09Speaker 3: this shit, Like I kind of was stuck, like but
- 28:12Speaker 3: I knew that I had to.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Really rise to the occasion, you know what I mean.
- 28:15Speaker 2: It's like the fuck, this is what we do. And
- 28:17Speaker 2: I finished it.
- 28:18Speaker 3: We added he added the finish and touches it to it.
- 28:22Speaker 3: So when I listened to it, and I was like, damn,
- 28:26Speaker 3: this is crazy, Like you know, like I could listen
- 28:29Speaker 3: to it a hundred times streak.
- 28:30Speaker 1: To be honest with you, it's my favorite.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Like when I leave here, I'm going the car and
- 28:34Speaker 3: I'm really literally just one hundred times streak.
- 28:37Speaker 1: What about you?
- 28:38Speaker 4: And for me, it was against the world that one
- 28:42Speaker 4: really hit me like because we made that late. He
- 28:44Speaker 4: made that late in the making of the record. He
- 28:46Speaker 4: sent it to me and it blew my mind because
- 28:48Speaker 4: it just gave me that feeling. I definitely got emotional
- 28:50Speaker 4: when I heard it, just what he's talking about and
- 28:53Speaker 4: his spirit, you know what I mean.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It was in it, like damn.
- 28:56Speaker 4: It reminded me of the tours we used to do,
- 28:57Speaker 4: and it was just like, why you know, I wanted
- 29:00Speaker 4: to close the album out with that.
- 29:02Speaker 1: That was my idea. It was like, if we could
- 29:03Speaker 1: hold this ace in the hole and make it the
- 29:05Speaker 1: last song. But it was so good.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I felt like that feeling was the first thing people
- 29:10Speaker 4: needed to hear in my opinion, because it just like
- 29:13Speaker 4: it gave you that feeling of like.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Health, wealth, happiness. It's that feeling that you know.
- 29:22Speaker 4: He had a lot of different bags he went into,
- 29:23Speaker 4: but this was like the one that made all of
- 29:26Speaker 4: us feel like we were down with the illest crew
- 29:30Speaker 4: in the world, everybody, all the whole crew. That's what
- 29:32Speaker 4: mab Deep always did. Made us feel like we are
- 29:35Speaker 4: affiliated with the best shit. He used to always like say,
- 29:39Speaker 4: like our throwaways better than people's you know shit. They
- 29:43Speaker 4: worked the hard he was like super confident in that record.
- 29:46Speaker 4: It just it hit me where I was like, wow,
- 29:48Speaker 4: this that beat was just like perfect.
- 29:50Speaker 1: It was like wow, I was wondering for you out
- 29:53Speaker 1: because I think of like Return of the Mac and
- 29:56Speaker 1: Albert Einstein is like two real high points and prodigyce
- 30:00Speaker 1: careers at MC. Because I feel like, I want to say,
- 30:03Speaker 1: didn't Albert Einstein come out the same day as Jesus
- 30:06Speaker 1: mac Miller and J Cole You would have a better
- 30:09Speaker 1: memory for this. So Jesus mac Miller watching a movie
- 30:12Speaker 1: with the sound with the sound off and H Warren
- 30:15Speaker 1: Center by J. Cole and Albert Einstein came out on
- 30:17Speaker 1: the same day about all four of them on History
- 30:20Speaker 1: History crazy crazy day. But for you, man, like those
- 30:26Speaker 1: are I feel like in terms of like his solo
- 30:29Speaker 1: shit obviously H and I Sees amazing, as I mean,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I mean shit H and I See is a classic too,
- 30:34Speaker 1: But like those are two very underrated projects. Like which
- 30:37Speaker 1: one of those two projects do you like revisit the most?
- 30:40Speaker 1: Which between Albert Einstein and Return of the Mac.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I mean Return to the Mac was the first time
- 30:45Speaker 4: that somebody really like we were like at that point,
- 30:50Speaker 4: it was about ninety percent like me, and if he
- 30:53Speaker 4: were hanging around, he was coming buy the crib a lot.
- 30:55Speaker 4: And at that point, when I say ninety percent ninety
- 30:57Speaker 4: percent of the beats, if I was like I got
- 30:59Speaker 4: an idea or I got a beat, he was like yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 4: in ten percent.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Of the time he might be like, I don't know,
- 31:03Speaker 1: let's find something else.
- 31:04Speaker 4: And when we started working on that, he kind of
- 31:07Speaker 4: like just was that was the first time somebody kind
- 31:09Speaker 4: of just trusted me to put together. I feel like
- 31:11Speaker 4: that was the first record that started to run them on.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Now and some might say COVID Coop Currency because it
- 31:16Speaker 4: was around the same time, but oh yeah, that Turn
- 31:19Speaker 4: of the Mac was the one that I feel like
- 31:21Speaker 4: allowed me to like put a record together when he
- 31:24Speaker 4: came with the concept and I was like, all right,
- 31:25Speaker 4: we're going to do more black sportations like.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeap.
- 31:31Speaker 4: That was the first time me and Freddie but yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 4: I mean, and of course Albert Einstein was was a blessing.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I just feel lucky to be able to have mane
- 31:37Speaker 4: these records with pe with mob Deep, like again, this
- 31:40Speaker 4: is anybody who messes with me, like you know, nowadays,
- 31:43Speaker 4: I have fans who know me from earl or. And
- 31:46Speaker 4: it's crazy because once they get, if they start, once
- 31:49Speaker 4: they find like the mob, that's the root of the tree.
- 31:52Speaker 1: You know what I mean? When you heard keep it Thorough?
- 31:58Speaker 1: Were you jealous that you didn't make that beat? Of
- 32:01Speaker 1: course that's one of the course I'm not gonna my favorite. Ever.
- 32:06Speaker 1: That beat is fucking ridiculous. I'm like, yo, who the
- 32:10Speaker 1: fuck is this guy?
- 32:11Speaker 2: Like?
- 32:12Speaker 3: How was he making such good beats? Like you know
- 32:15Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like the ship was fire. I remember
- 32:18Speaker 3: going to the video shoot what I'm saying and.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Meeting Ice team coming around and all of this crow
- 32:25Speaker 2: I went with you me and you pulled up.
- 32:27Speaker 1: We saw Ice t the gas at the car walk, yes, yes, yes,
- 32:31Speaker 1: and and.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Ice team pulled up. It was crazy. It was such
- 32:35Speaker 2: a beautiful fucking time. And the beat the answer your
- 32:40Speaker 2: cousin fu Oh god, that crazy that it is fine.
- 32:45Speaker 4: I can say that about every guy damn beat, you know,
- 32:48Speaker 4: but I think Burner is one and I was always
- 32:51Speaker 4: you know, that was made from nothing, you know. That's
- 32:53Speaker 4: why I say have he's the master of making something
- 32:56Speaker 4: at when you say that for people who don't know
- 32:57Speaker 4: what do you mean by it was made he made.
- 32:59Speaker 1: It a thin air. There was no no sample.
- 33:03Speaker 4: It's him on the pads going like and then the
- 33:07Speaker 4: baseline and like. That might be one of the obviously
- 33:10Speaker 4: one of the.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Greatest beast one of the greatest mixes too, like everything
- 33:13Speaker 1: is this, by the way, such a such an amazing
- 33:15Speaker 1: infamy is such a great fucking project because it had
- 33:19Speaker 1: some real good commercial ship on that A one twelve
- 33:21Speaker 1: record was Dope Boom Boom Bump.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I love that one album.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I love the Man.
- 33:29Speaker 2: I really did love that album.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I want to give a shout out to our family
- 33:32Speaker 1: at Broken Man, Broken h Listen, I love these vapes
- 33:38Speaker 1: Broken Cannabis. Make sure you go shoot them a follow.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I was in Austin, Texas, and you know I was
- 33:45Speaker 1: off the Broken in Texas, even though I'm not sure
- 33:47Speaker 1: legally I was supposed to be off the Broken in Texas.
- 33:49Speaker 1: But look, you gotta go follow him right now. Go

- 34:01Speaker 1: all right, so make sure you go shoot them a follow. Man.
- 34:03Speaker 1: And you know we only rock with the premium the best,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and when I tell you, broken is the best. They've
- 34:09Speaker 1: been doing this for so long, and uh, man, the rosin,
- 34:13Speaker 1: the solventless Rosin, Man, it hits all right. So they
- 34:16Speaker 1: got the disposables, they got the carts. Let's just open
- 34:20Speaker 1: one of these up just so y'all can see. These
- 34:22Speaker 1: carts are beautiful. All right, we got it open he
- 34:26Speaker 1: fast forwarded, all right, so this is the cart and
- 34:29Speaker 1: then obviously you got your disposable right here. Both of
- 34:33Speaker 1: these incredible. Follow them and check them out rocancannabis dot com.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Do you feel like, uh, do you feel like the
- 34:40Speaker 1: jay Z thing like lit? Y'all's like asses on fire
- 34:44Speaker 1: a little bit in terms of, like it's a thing
- 34:47Speaker 1: we got we gotta really like, you know, I feel
- 34:49Speaker 1: like competition, like like you know, steel sharp and steel.
- 34:52Speaker 1: So I can only imagine yeah, because I feel like
- 34:54Speaker 1: Infamy was probably the first album that came out after
- 34:56Speaker 1: Blueprint dropped and all the summer jam shit. Yeah, did
- 35:00Speaker 1: y'all feel like? I can only assume the flame was
- 35:04Speaker 1: lit in terms of like, yeah, we gotta we gotta
- 35:06Speaker 1: show up in now.
- 35:07Speaker 3: We definitely got to show up. But I just was
- 35:09Speaker 3: sticking to the script, like I wasn't letting anything. I
- 35:13Speaker 3: wasn't letting that jay Z should get in my head, right,
- 35:16Speaker 3: you know. For me, I didn't let it get in
- 35:17Speaker 3: my head. I just was like I knew the mission,
- 35:19Speaker 3: you know what I mean, So I just kind of
- 35:21Speaker 3: stay focused a bit, you know, because if I would
- 35:24Speaker 3: have let it get to me, I think I would
- 35:25Speaker 3: have stumbled, and you know, fumbled. But I think that
- 35:29Speaker 3: was a solid project, the Infamy album. You know, we
- 35:33Speaker 3: got some Icley brother shit.
- 35:34Speaker 2: On there, you know what I mean. It was crazy,
- 35:36Speaker 2: you know, Scott's thoughts just coming in the fucking studio.
- 35:39Speaker 1: That was like a great mixture of like you guys,
- 35:41Speaker 1: like going a little commercial with some of the radio records,
- 35:44Speaker 1: but also not deviating from the sound.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we couldn't.
- 35:48Speaker 3: We couldn't really deviate because you know, our fans would
- 35:52Speaker 3: have killed us, you know what I mean, So we couldn't.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Really travel too far fact.
- 35:57Speaker 1: And then we came back with America's Nightmare, Don't forget,
- 36:00Speaker 1: speaking of some of the best spats ever.
- 36:02Speaker 4: I felt like we were really in our bag on
- 36:04Speaker 4: that one, like it connected America's Nightmary was like, Okay,
- 36:08Speaker 4: that's when we had what got It Twisted?
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yep, Win Lose, Lose and got It Jado. Yeah, they
- 36:16Speaker 1: had bangers on there. Man, what was the Kanye one
- 36:18Speaker 1: on there? Then it was slept on Slept we had.
- 36:23Speaker 1: That was a great record, you know what I mean?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:25Speaker 1: That ship was crazy? Yeah? How was that like for you?
- 36:28Speaker 2: Like?
- 36:29Speaker 1: Uh at that point that had been the most production
- 36:32Speaker 1: you had handled.
- 36:32Speaker 4: On a I do remember official I was trying to
- 36:37Speaker 4: stash Winter Lose. I remember that I had it because
- 36:40Speaker 4: I got I got them on it separately and they
- 36:42Speaker 4: were finishing the record. That was the record we did
- 36:43Speaker 4: in my crib because we do a lot of stuff,
- 36:46Speaker 4: but I had that one and they forgot about it.
- 36:48Speaker 1: So I was like, okay, perfect, I'm gonna put Jada
- 36:50Speaker 1: Kissing the House on this and yeah, and then having
- 36:53Speaker 1: p K to my crib right around the end of
- 36:55Speaker 1: the ape, he was.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Like, what's that joint we got in the computer again?
- 36:58Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, I got it. I couldn't
- 37:02Speaker 1: stash it, but I tried. But that was Winter Lose
- 37:06Speaker 1: is still one of my favorites.
- 37:08Speaker 3: And and that's when in my mind, and to me
- 37:11Speaker 3: at least, and I'm showing Pea's mind. That's when I
- 37:14Speaker 3: was becoming like I would go to guy well he
- 37:17Speaker 3: trusted them with singles.
- 37:18Speaker 1: When you hear that was on there to yeah, well
- 37:20Speaker 1: I got it. I feel like got it twisted Like
- 37:22Speaker 1: it was a pretty big record too, Like I remember
- 37:24Speaker 1: hearing that show on the radio and Phoenix.
- 37:25Speaker 2: And Ship like that was the video.
- 37:28Speaker 1: It was like I was inspired by it was the
- 37:30Speaker 1: remix twisted, yeah, because you know the twist got a
- 37:35Speaker 1: twisted twisted.
- 37:36Speaker 4: But I was inspired by Quiet Storm with that beat
- 37:38Speaker 4: because I remember the day we made it. They were
- 37:40Speaker 4: both at the crib and we were going science because
- 37:43Speaker 4: that was Ni goes. Why you keep saying that, I'm like,
- 37:44Speaker 4: you don't remember that.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Old record was crazy.
- 37:48Speaker 4: We went and got the record and I tried to
- 37:50Speaker 4: chop it up, but the rhythm of it was like
- 37:52Speaker 4: a weird bounce.
- 37:53Speaker 1: So that's when we had to try the.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Trinity.
- 37:57Speaker 4: So I had to rack man Trinity and I just
- 37:59Speaker 4: wade demoed it out and and did the drums simple
- 38:03Speaker 4: he laid the song. I remember, I was like, I
- 38:06Speaker 4: like it, but we may have like finessa drums, like
- 38:08Speaker 4: do more to the drums, And the next day he
- 38:10Speaker 4: called me, was like, nah, it's good.
- 38:13Speaker 2: It's just like that ship.
- 38:15Speaker 1: It was crazy. You know what song I didn't mind
- 38:17Speaker 1: was the Little John record wasn't bad on was.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Felt like we was reaching.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Kid. It was still hard. It was hard, bro right
- 38:29Speaker 1: right shot John Man? Yo, yeah, little you know what's
- 38:33Speaker 1: crazy is like when you go. I was just I
- 38:34Speaker 1: just was a little with Little John on Arizona and
- 38:36Speaker 1: I was like, dog, this motherfucker has a record on
- 38:38Speaker 1: one of his albums called the Grand Finale and it's
- 38:40Speaker 1: got like ice cube nas all. It's crazy, like shouts
- 38:45Speaker 1: a Little John. What an era? Legend? Don't legends? So
- 38:49Speaker 1: you guys kind of get into this free agency era
- 38:52Speaker 1: where you guys dropped free agents and I think that
- 38:55Speaker 1: was was that on which one of the random indies
- 38:58Speaker 1: at that time did that speed I'm gonna say cotch,
- 39:01Speaker 1: but sounds.
- 39:02Speaker 2: About they had their fingerprints on it.
- 39:05Speaker 4: That was right before America's Nightmare. That was in between
- 39:08Speaker 4: for me and America's Nightmare. It was free agents for
- 39:10Speaker 4: a minute and it was just free agency.
- 39:13Speaker 2: No, that was no, that was before blood money.
- 39:16Speaker 1: That was before blood money. Yeah, definitely.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Remember we had the meetings and they wanted to use
- 39:21Speaker 4: backwards because it was already out.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I think it was before the Job album, because remember.
- 39:26Speaker 2: We heard that it was it was before before, it
- 39:30Speaker 2: was before and then.
- 39:32Speaker 1: We did the deal with Yeah. But but because we
- 39:36Speaker 1: were you know, free agency, and some of the music
- 39:39Speaker 1: on that tape was insane. That that tab is speeding
- 39:43Speaker 1: on one of the dopes st Beach I ever, I
- 39:44Speaker 1: think put them in their places, very under the place.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's such a crazy beat. Yeah, that ship was insane
- 39:51Speaker 1: when you guys, was there ever any like because you know,
- 39:54Speaker 1: you guys are come over to g Unit and I
- 39:56Speaker 1: remember like the campaign of like Mob Deep and m
- 39:59Speaker 1: O P joining. It was almost like when Katie went
- 40:03Speaker 1: to the Warriors, you know what I'm saying. But what
- 40:06Speaker 1: was like, like, like, what was the initial conbos with
- 40:09Speaker 1: fifty And was there ever any reservation about making that
- 40:12Speaker 1: move because at the time the GUNI shit's the hottest
- 40:15Speaker 1: shit on the on the planet. But y'all are still
- 40:17Speaker 1: fucking you know what I mean? Like right, Nah, it
- 40:19Speaker 1: wasn't no reservation for me.
- 40:22Speaker 3: I was like, because I fucked with fifty and before
- 40:25Speaker 3: that even happened, I had did some solo records with fifty,
- 40:28Speaker 3: you know, bumped.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Out and you had a lot of production with fifty.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know what I mean, I, you know,
- 40:35Speaker 3: had some work with him, so I didn't have no reservations.
- 40:39Speaker 3: When fifty gay the call, you know, the one to
- 40:42Speaker 3: fuck with us and have us to go to g UNIT,
- 40:45Speaker 3: I was all for it.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you feel like, uh, because at that that's
- 40:49Speaker 1: kind of like an interesting g UNIT era? Right. It
- 40:52Speaker 1: was because it's kind of like, uh, the game thing
- 40:55Speaker 1: had already kind of you know, falling out. Yeah, it
- 40:59Speaker 1: kind of felt like all the momentums. I got Mob Deep,
- 41:01Speaker 1: I got mop right, fifty movie drops. What was it
- 41:05Speaker 1: like kind of being around that era of g because
- 41:08Speaker 1: gud it, man, I don't think people understand like Dog
- 41:10Speaker 1: Motherfuckers was playing video games on Xbox wearing shoes Mark
- 41:15Speaker 1: Echo had a whole geu and it clothing that had
- 41:18Speaker 1: people were wearing that shit. Like, but you guys come
- 41:21Speaker 1: in and I think, I mean, I love the album
- 41:23Speaker 1: that you all dropped. I thought I thought that album
- 41:24Speaker 1: was dope, man. I thought Blood Money was super dope.
- 41:26Speaker 1: That Pearly Gates record was fucking crazy. With fifty, it
- 41:29Speaker 1: was super crazy record. But what was that like? Because
- 41:33Speaker 1: you know, I can only assume like going into that
- 41:35Speaker 1: situation probably, I mean, the buzz was insane, the eyes
- 41:40Speaker 1: on you guys are insane working on that album. What
- 41:44Speaker 1: was that process like and how did y'all feel like
- 41:46Speaker 1: like just kind of in that space, you.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Know, working on an album was fun.
- 41:50Speaker 3: You know, Fifty would send us mad records, We'll do
- 41:53Speaker 3: the records. It was a little different than how we
- 41:55Speaker 3: did records before, you know what I mean, like with
- 41:58Speaker 3: me kind of like producing most of the records.
- 42:01Speaker 1: I think you only had one beat on there, huh.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I forgot it was the one with.
- 42:06Speaker 1: The fifty the wild style joint Ship was like I
- 42:12Speaker 1: think that was like one of the best records on
- 42:14Speaker 1: for sure.
- 42:14Speaker 2: I really liked that.
- 42:16Speaker 4: I remember that like before right before he had hit
- 42:19Speaker 4: up the mall, we were kind of in between figuring
- 42:21Speaker 4: it out, like we always sit up and go it
- 42:23Speaker 4: was the next move. We were kind of one of
- 42:25Speaker 4: those phases. And it was like a week or two
- 42:28Speaker 4: of time where they got the call and it was
- 42:30Speaker 4: so crazy. Around that same time I got the call
- 42:32Speaker 4: from Paul to the m's DJ, and I swear it
- 42:36Speaker 4: was like a month's.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Time almost.
- 42:40Speaker 7: From that sitting there we were on tour and I
- 42:42Speaker 7: would only see them every now and then because I
- 42:44Speaker 7: went and there were fifty and we were like that
- 42:47Speaker 7: earrow was insane, like taper hotels.
- 42:50Speaker 1: We were staying. Fifty had like seventy five people on
- 42:54Speaker 1: tour with him, like just the crew. You know what
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 42:57Speaker 4: It was it was just a trip because it happened
- 42:59Speaker 4: so fast and we didn't see that coming, and it
- 43:02Speaker 4: was like we're still family.
- 43:03Speaker 1: But now I'm seeing them just for a minute because
- 43:07Speaker 1: they got to go to the stage. So much excitement too,
- 43:09Speaker 1: because like I just ammember in my head thinking like Yo,
- 43:11Speaker 1: m OP and Mob Deep, what the fuck? Those shows
- 43:15Speaker 1: were nuts too? Man, them show? That show was crazy.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Did you ever talk about doing a fucking collab project?
- 43:24Speaker 2: MP?
- 43:24Speaker 1: And Mom d Yes, I don't know. That would have
- 43:27Speaker 1: been fucking nuts. I don't know. I guess that, but
- 43:29Speaker 1: the collap projects weren't really a thing like that back then.
- 43:31Speaker 2: It wasn't. It wasn't, but we should have, you know
- 43:34Speaker 2: what I mean. MP is like one of my favorite groups.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I wondered mine too, mine too, I wonder I always
- 43:42Speaker 1: see the clips giving it up to you as the
- 43:44Speaker 1: best hip hop Drew of all time. They're on the
- 43:49Speaker 1: new album and they're on this crazy run and obviously
- 43:54Speaker 1: I think, you know, pushing the Clips are in rare
- 43:59Speaker 1: form and rare when we talk about just hip hop history.
- 44:01Speaker 1: But I'm just curious for you, man, like how dope
- 44:04Speaker 1: is it to get them on a project with p
- 44:08Speaker 1: and at the same time, like, I'm just curious as
- 44:10Speaker 1: somebody who's a part of one of the greatest hip
- 44:12Speaker 1: hop dudes of all time? What are your thoughts just
- 44:14Speaker 1: on on what's going with the Clips right now? This
- 44:16Speaker 1: run they're on, this is the.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Type of shit that I love to see, you know
- 44:21Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like I'm always rooting for you know
- 44:23Speaker 3: what I'm saying my colleagues, You know what i mean.
- 44:25Speaker 3: So to speak whatever, like the Clips, I'm a fan
- 44:28Speaker 3: of the Clips, you know what I'm saying. They when
- 44:29Speaker 3: they first came out up until now, super fan never
- 44:33Speaker 3: even looked at them as like competition, but just as
- 44:36Speaker 3: somebody that complimented the hip hop.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Game, you understand what I'm saying.
- 44:40Speaker 3: So to see them getting the flowers that they getting
- 44:43Speaker 3: right now and to run this legendary run that they own,
- 44:49Speaker 3: because you know, hip hop is in a weird space right.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Now, you know what I'm saying. So for them to
- 44:54Speaker 2: come and bless us with that album, it's like it's
- 44:58Speaker 2: like a gift. So it's really dope to see. And
- 45:00Speaker 2: I didn't even know they was coming with a fucking
- 45:02Speaker 2: album by the time we had the feature from them,
- 45:05Speaker 2: So they didn't tell me. Really, they didn't tell me that.
- 45:07Speaker 3: They just was like, I asked them to get on it,
- 45:09Speaker 3: and they before they said yes, they sent me back
- 45:12Speaker 3: the verses.
- 45:13Speaker 2: You understand what I'm saying.
- 45:15Speaker 1: So, so you had sent that before.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I didn't even know they was coming with a phone.
- 45:20Speaker 1: That's dope.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I didn't know they was coming with it.
- 45:22Speaker 1: They feel like a lot of people are tapping it
- 45:24Speaker 1: with the clips right now. I'm like, well, of course
- 45:25Speaker 1: you would, because they got the hottest hour of the year, right.
- 45:27Speaker 3: But but I knew they was doing something special because
- 45:30Speaker 3: Pusher had hit me. He said, Yo, have I need
- 45:32Speaker 3: the reel for G O D Part three?
- 45:34Speaker 1: And I was like, damn, Like it's a crazy request.
- 45:40Speaker 1: That's a wild request, yo, I'll tell you.
- 45:42Speaker 3: He asked me for the real and I was like, damn,
- 45:45Speaker 3: I I could get my hands on it, said you
- 45:46Speaker 3: still have that, you know, Sony Sony is being you know,
- 45:51Speaker 3: they hogging.
- 45:51Speaker 1: The real So did they did they want to do
- 45:53Speaker 1: something over that?
- 45:54Speaker 2: That's what it sounded like.
- 45:56Speaker 3: And I'm sure that they do have something in the
- 45:58Speaker 3: chamber that got something do a god that didn't end
- 46:01Speaker 3: up on the album, but.
- 46:02Speaker 2: They got a surprise attack for everybody.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Did you ask them, like, yo, did you ever end up?
- 46:08Speaker 2: I didn't ask some shit, damn. I just wanted to
- 46:11Speaker 2: be surprised like everybody else. I didn't ask no questions.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I just was looking for the real I.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Am curious, man, you know, I feel like was murder
- 46:21Speaker 1: music the five mic album? Am I tripping?
- 46:23Speaker 2: I don't even know if we ever got five mics
- 46:25Speaker 2: at all?
- 46:26Speaker 1: I feel like I don't know. I just remember every
- 46:28Speaker 1: time i'd opened the source. I remember when the Quiet Storm.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Remember they used to have the quote hip hop quotables,
- 46:35Speaker 1: and I remember P's verse for Quiet Storm was one
- 46:39Speaker 1: of the quotables. And that's how I like memorize the
- 46:41Speaker 1: fucking all of the lyrics, because I was able to
- 46:44Speaker 1: read it out of the source. But I'm curious. That's
- 46:47Speaker 1: obviously one of the most legendary remixes of all time.
- 46:51Speaker 1: It's now become like little Kim's become a meme because
- 46:54Speaker 1: of the dance she does before she does her verse
- 46:57Speaker 1: for Quiet Storm. I think that is up there for
- 47:03Speaker 1: one of the greatest Prodigy verses of all time on
- 47:07Speaker 1: that record. But when the remix happens, are y'all like like, like,
- 47:13Speaker 1: are you in the studio with Kim when she cuts that?
- 47:15Speaker 1: Like talk to me about that?
- 47:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember walking into the studio and she was
- 47:19Speaker 3: there with her pad and the pad and I guess
- 47:22Speaker 3: she must have been finished with Diverse already, you know
- 47:25Speaker 3: what I mean, and she laid the verse. I was
- 47:29Speaker 3: on cloud fucking nine, she I mean, man, iconic.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like as amazing as that song was, Like
- 47:38Speaker 1: the remix just put it into this like right forever
- 47:43Speaker 1: sphere where always will be a thing, right. And you
- 47:47Speaker 1: didn't even have to change the beat, you know what
- 47:50Speaker 1: I mean, because back then a lot of remixes had
- 47:52Speaker 1: different beats, right.
- 47:53Speaker 2: And we just kept the beat and let us sing
- 47:55Speaker 2: the chorus and are you a fly on the wall
- 47:58Speaker 2: at this point?
- 47:58Speaker 1: Obviously you that session.
- 48:01Speaker 4: I wasn't there, but I remember coming back the day
- 48:03Speaker 4: after and then like yeah, we put Kim on it.
- 48:05Speaker 4: I knew the record obviously, and it was like, oh
- 48:08Speaker 4: that that took it to the platinum. You know.
- 48:10Speaker 1: That was next thing to a limb Biscuit. We were
- 48:12Speaker 1: doing thirty thousand people in arenas opening from limp Biscuit.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I wonder you making murder music? You had two beats
- 48:17Speaker 1: on murder music? Yeah, that was my entry basically, say
- 48:20Speaker 1: that had to be like you're graduating from high school, dog,
- 48:23Speaker 1: like you made it. You're kidding me.
- 48:24Speaker 4: I still can't believe it to this day, Like you
- 48:27Speaker 4: know what I mean, how it all happened, because everything
- 48:29Speaker 4: happened from there. But I was so in the element,
- 48:32Speaker 4: like when because at first when I was coming over there,
- 48:35Speaker 4: like you know, I first linked up with Godfather, Nitty
- 48:37Speaker 4: and Twin and Gotti, and then they were telling me,
- 48:40Speaker 4: you know, you gotta mering, you know, just the mob,
- 48:42Speaker 4: you know. So they would bring me over to the studio,
- 48:44Speaker 4: but like Ha would be there one day, or Pete
- 48:47Speaker 4: would be there, and I had this one dat and
- 48:49Speaker 4: kept playing them joints and they kept they both liked
- 48:51Speaker 4: the same beat, which was the realist coolie rap it was.
- 48:54Speaker 4: And then I'll never forget when the Dave Pete called
- 48:56Speaker 4: me said come to the studio with.
- 48:59Speaker 2: That beat.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I knew what be he was talking about. I showed
- 49:01Speaker 1: up and the cool g rapp was sitting there. Oh,
- 49:03Speaker 1: so you got to watch cologie rap rap on your.
- 49:05Speaker 4: I witnessed that, and I didn't call I always tell people.
- 49:07Speaker 4: I didn't call my manager. I didn't call a lawyer,
- 49:09Speaker 4: I didn't nothing. I packed up my ASR ten and
- 49:13Speaker 4: the thing was like it's big of a worse of
- 49:15Speaker 4: a couch, you know what I'm saying. I packed it
- 49:18Speaker 4: up and brought it in there, told the engineer that beat,
- 49:21Speaker 4: plug it up, and I just sat back and I
- 49:23Speaker 4: watched history happen, and it was like, you know, when
- 49:25Speaker 4: you're doing it, you never know. I didn't know because
- 49:27Speaker 4: I was even insecure about the beat because it was
- 49:29Speaker 4: just a loop. It's not technically a fancy beat, but
- 49:33Speaker 4: look how it stood the test of time. And it
- 49:35Speaker 4: was like, I just feel like, sometimes you got to
- 49:37Speaker 4: get out of the way, you know. And I knew
- 49:39Speaker 4: somehow to get out of the way of like the
- 49:41Speaker 4: power of the gods of this music, to just get
- 49:44Speaker 4: out of the way and let the shit happen, and
- 49:46Speaker 4: it's not about your beat. It's not about if you
- 49:49Speaker 4: could hook a beat up better. And now I look back, like, damn,
- 49:52Speaker 4: look what that record did. Like that verse when he
- 49:55Speaker 4: went into booth, we were all rain melted.
- 49:58Speaker 1: It's insane. He wrote it on the spot and that's
- 50:00Speaker 1: why he went first.
- 50:02Speaker 3: It was crazy, rat Oh let me actually, Christ because
- 50:06Speaker 3: I always was wondering this because I was dead for
- 50:08Speaker 3: the such an either when p and g rap did
- 50:13Speaker 3: the chorus?
- 50:14Speaker 2: Did they did? They write it together together? They wrote
- 50:16Speaker 2: it together?
- 50:17Speaker 1: Crazy, They wrote it together. And I remember that you
- 50:19Speaker 1: came and you have rolled like you. I think you
- 50:21Speaker 1: had three or four verses. You were beating yourself up
- 50:24Speaker 1: because he knew he was there, brought it home.
- 50:31Speaker 2: What you mean that was a classic? Was that?
- 50:35Speaker 1: Was that something that would be common for you where
- 50:36Speaker 1: you would like come in and hear a song and
- 50:38Speaker 1: be like, fuck I got that was a hang with
- 50:41Speaker 1: That's all the time. That's about telling because the greatest
- 50:44Speaker 1: rounds of all time to it, you're like you're a legend.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 50:48Speaker 3: But when you fucking playing with Jordan's and fucking Scottie Pippen,
- 50:54Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Alchemist.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying. It's like, who the
- 50:59Speaker 2: fucking like, you know what I'm saying.
- 51:01Speaker 3: But you have to rise to the occasion because you
- 51:03Speaker 3: know that you're part of a championship team.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so, and that that's all I do. I feel
- 51:08Speaker 1: like you're like fucking filled. You're like Lebron dog you
- 51:11Speaker 1: could coach.
- 51:12Speaker 4: And I've witnessed it and to have fast he does it,
- 51:16Speaker 4: the precision from doing something so long.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Have you ever seen how he writes? Seen his handwriting
- 51:21Speaker 1: it is that's why he's so great. It's like, how ridiculous.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, you're one of those right right, But
- 51:30Speaker 1: it flows like calligraphy.
- 51:31Speaker 4: You look at that ship like yo, he's just And
- 51:34Speaker 4: I've sat and watched him make a beat, picked a
- 51:37Speaker 4: pin up and just write it and relate the verse
- 51:40Speaker 4: in the chorus so many times that it was just
- 51:43Speaker 4: like I look, I learned how to make records like
- 51:45Speaker 4: watching having Pete do it like that, The precision of it,
- 51:48Speaker 4: of like not overthinking it, never seen him overthink the
- 51:52Speaker 4: moment and they did it.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Hey, we gotta wrap up this interview another one presented

- 52:57Speaker 1: Did you have any idea when you guys first met
- 52:59Speaker 1: him that he used to rap or that he was old?
- 53:01Speaker 2: Well, no, I didn't know that. No.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Did you keep that talk Trojan Horse? Yeah he kept

- 53:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that wasn't the agenda.
- 53:12Speaker 2: I was. I should know if you like?
- 53:13Speaker 1: And then at what points you guys, wait, you and
- 53:15Speaker 1: the conra I'm like James Conn's son and you have
- 53:19Speaker 1: had a rap group started doing songs. Me and Turn
- 53:22Speaker 1: started rapping. It became cool when they started wrapping. I'm
- 53:24Speaker 1: around you know, like you know what type of juice
- 53:27Speaker 1: I was around?
- 53:28Speaker 5: You got?

- 53:31Speaker 1: My d.
- 53:33Speaker 2: And the version of Right. Yeah, that was the poetical
- 53:40Speaker 2: prophets of h you know, the West Coast.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that ship's funny. Nineties early nineties, early
- 53:46Speaker 1: fucking Ninetieszy.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Crazy dude, what made you start making beat?
- 53:51Speaker 4: I always wanted to the minute we got I got
- 53:53Speaker 4: I got the s R shout the DJ leeth he
- 53:55Speaker 4: took me the guitars and I.

- 54:05Speaker 4: different and I thought it was like wow, I thought
- 54:07Speaker 4: it was a piano. I'm like, I don't play keys.
- 54:09Speaker 4: He said, no, it's a sampler.
- 54:11Speaker 1: And you were you were.
- 54:12Speaker 4: EPs first, right, yes, yes, EPs plus same basically the
- 54:15Speaker 4: same mechanics for the ASR is like a new version
- 54:17Speaker 4: of the EPs.
- 54:18Speaker 1: First Producer geek shit, like in twenty twenty five, what
- 54:22Speaker 1: is each of your guys is set up when it
- 54:24Speaker 1: comes to making it making a beat?
- 54:27Speaker 2: Like?
- 54:28Speaker 1: How do you for.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Minimal real minimum?
- 54:30Speaker 6: Right?
- 54:30Speaker 1: What are you using?
- 54:31Speaker 2: Like? Okay, right now, I have an NPC six three thousand.
- 54:36Speaker 3: I'm an MPC three thousand that I just bought that
- 54:39Speaker 3: I have not fucking cracked open yet, but it gives
- 54:41Speaker 3: me inspiration.
- 54:42Speaker 2: But I am working on the Native Instruments machine and.
- 54:47Speaker 1: The machine with all the buttons and ship.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a machine studio.
- 54:51Speaker 1: It's like a I got one in the studio in
- 54:53Speaker 1: my studio there, it's just got it like that big
- 54:55Speaker 1: path with all the.
- 54:56Speaker 2: It's like an NPC but virtual one. Now you could
- 55:00Speaker 2: use it with the computer.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Doesn't it plug in the what's it able to?
- 55:04Speaker 2: You could put well, I don't know, isn't there something goes?
- 55:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 55:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah, So and then that's me what software
- 55:12Speaker 3: using logic? Logic, logic, that's it. Sometimes I funk with
- 55:16Speaker 3: uh able to?
- 55:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, are you like, uh still digging or
- 55:23Speaker 1: you know, because I know a lot of people like
- 55:25Speaker 1: me and I talked about this a little bit off
- 55:27Speaker 1: off Mike a few weeks ago, but just trying to
- 55:31Speaker 1: figure out how to do the do do the thing
- 55:33Speaker 1: that y'all do without having to do the samples, right me.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Look, I'm I'm a sample guy for life. Fuck it,
- 55:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like I you know, I
- 55:44Speaker 2: tried the no sample thing, but I fuck with samples.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I mean it worked out with burn right, Yeah, with samples,
- 55:54Speaker 1: It's like I tried, what the fuck right?
- 55:58Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 55:58Speaker 3: It's just a guitar like, but I'm a sample guy.
- 56:02Speaker 3: You know, I just love samples. It just does something
- 56:04Speaker 3: to the.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Beat for me.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Yeah, what about you? What's the current setup? And like
- 56:07Speaker 1: just kind of like what you're what you're like, you know,
- 56:10Speaker 1: when you're at the studio or I mean, what, what's
- 56:12Speaker 1: what's software you on? Since a gong gong, some bonds,
- 56:18Speaker 1: eye trees, a fish tank, all those things.
- 56:24Speaker 2: You got?
- 56:26Speaker 1: What software do you use?
- 56:27Speaker 2: Though?
- 56:28Speaker 4: I just use hardware. I just bang my head on
- 56:30Speaker 4: the fucking wall. I don't even use anything anymore.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I don't even it doesn't really matter, really doesn't matter,
- 56:35Speaker 1: because really, if you could, if you're nice, because people
- 56:38Speaker 1: like to get caught up on equipment and all that.
- 56:40Speaker 4: It's like, you can make anything sing, Like you can
- 56:43Speaker 4: figure out how to make your sound work. So I
- 56:45Speaker 4: don't like to put too much whatever, pick a machine
- 56:49Speaker 4: and just go crazy.
- 56:50Speaker 2: You know what I learned though, over.
- 56:52Speaker 3: The course of my productions in the switch of technology,
- 56:57Speaker 3: that it doesn't even matter what the fuck you're using.
- 56:59Speaker 2: It's not the.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Stuff is just you really well, you could buy a
- 57:03Speaker 3: thousand different kind of drum machines or software.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Is it don't fucking matter, It.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Don't Nas is kind of like an unofficial third member
- 57:12Speaker 1: of Mob Deep on this Album's on three records.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I mean, who would have fucking thought I
- 57:17Speaker 3: would have got three verses from fucking incredible Esco.
- 57:21Speaker 1: You know, I mean, you know, fuck, he just got
- 57:23Speaker 1: a casino. Mass appeals going crazy right right?
- 57:26Speaker 3: The setup is crazy, right, Like he put out tarsible
- 57:29Speaker 3: whole and then he got a casino.
- 57:32Speaker 2: He's sneaky, he's sneaky.
- 57:34Speaker 1: He's a good one. That is wild more ways than one.
- 57:39Speaker 1: What the fuck word?
- 57:41Speaker 2: Wow?
- 57:41Speaker 1: Brilliant?
- 57:42Speaker 2: Wow, that was brilliant.
- 57:43Speaker 1: That was brilliant. Uh, how how do you deal with uh?
- 57:46Speaker 1: Right now? Out all of the You're currently on tour
- 57:49Speaker 1: with Freddy Yeah, you just got off tour with Erkabadou. Yes,
- 57:54Speaker 1: you have a tour coming up with DJ Premier overseas,
- 57:56Speaker 1: and I'm upset because I'm not on this tour mob
- 57:59Speaker 1: Deep and Rake one is really is.
- 58:03Speaker 4: Crazy that I'm pop up the ones that I can.
- 58:07Speaker 4: But there's just that's really criminal. But yeah, I mean
- 58:11Speaker 4: I didn't I need I think I need to get
- 58:13Speaker 4: a manager.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Man, you don't have a manager. See, this is what
- 58:15Speaker 1: happens when you manage yourself. You just start yourself and
- 58:21Speaker 1: have a team. Of course I have a team.
- 58:22Speaker 4: I'm saying I didn't realize that I was biting off
- 58:26Speaker 4: this much, you know what I mean. And as far
- 58:29Speaker 4: as workload, like damn, you know, like I have a
- 58:31Speaker 4: friend Mike, you know, the artist Mike. Of course, in
- 58:34Speaker 4: January I saw his tour schedule. He had like sixty
- 58:36Speaker 4: dates and it gave me anxiety when I saw it.
- 58:39Speaker 4: As an artist, You're just like and now you got like.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I ended up doing this same.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Take that back you have keep.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Blessing you know. Can you tell me you and Kanye
- 58:52Speaker 1: have a fucking thing going You guys have a great,
- 58:55Speaker 1: a great chemistry going all the way back to like
- 58:57Speaker 1: I mean, he was on your Guy. He's produced for y'all,
- 59:00Speaker 1: but obviously Life of Pablo even you were on the
- 59:03Speaker 1: Vulture ship. Yeah, explain like your guys dynamic and what
- 59:08Speaker 1: it's like to just kind of cause I think, you know, uh,
- 59:11Speaker 1: I think Kanye is one of the greatest of all time.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I mean, I understand people have their opinions about it,
- 59:14Speaker 1: but like, what's that chemistry like with Yah?
- 59:16Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's just like artist artists, right,
- 59:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 59:21Speaker 3: He asked me questions like, yo, who did I see
- 59:25Speaker 3: as like my competition back in the nineties and he's
- 59:29Speaker 3: he was really inquisitive, but just to see his work
- 59:32Speaker 3: ethic was crazy with something to see.
- 59:35Speaker 2: I just think, you know, the chemistry is just normal,
- 59:38Speaker 2: regular cool shit. You know what I mean? Yeah?
- 59:42Speaker 1: Did you cause you co produced Famous, which ends up
- 59:46Speaker 1: being being the very viral song at the time where
- 59:48Speaker 1: he talks about Taylor Swift right, lucky me, lucky me.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Where you heard it, like where you were like, oh shit,
- 59:54Speaker 1: this is about to go, this is about to be
- 59:55Speaker 1: something crazy.
- 59:57Speaker 2: It just sounded like, you know, fuck mall did remember
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: when he just walked deep. It was like another one
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: of those moments like thank you yah, thanks yeah, thank yeah,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: thank you thanks nah. Else it was dope.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: That's it was cool.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, like, fuck it?
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Are you I keep hearing the fifties working on some
