Transcript
- 0:04Hey guys, up.
- 0:06This is.
- 0:08I'm Corey.
- 0:09We got Pastor Mike here and Paris is on here.
- 0:10So what are we doing?
- 0:11What is this?
- 0:12September the 14th.
- 0:13What's our show?
- 0:14Oh, we're getting rid of the Daily Ripples.
- 0:17Cut it September 14th.
- 0:19that's what it is
- 0:20That's right.
- 0:21The piece that follows obedience.
- 0:24The stone, peace of mind grows when I see God's guidance of faithfully do the next right thing.
- 0:31Practical.
- 0:33Today, I will not rush important decisions or avoid difficult words.
- 0:36I will seek wise counsel, pray for clarity and act when the right path becomes clear.
- 0:44Peace becomes from peace comes from faithful obedience, not perfect certainty, spiritual.
- 0:51As I seek the father's wisdom, the Holy Spirit brings clarity in his crime rather than mo.
- 0:57Following Christ's example of trusting the Father's will, I find that obedience gradually replaces anxiety with peaks.
- 1:06Well, I think like where I read this and it makes me think about, because it says right here, I will sequise council, pray for clarity and act right.
- 1:17The right path becomes clear.
- 1:19And since we're talking about amends and all this stuff, you know, I mean, I don't know if you're starting to understand the book a little bit more, Pastor Mike, but you were hitting it dead on.
- 1:29You know what I mean?
- 1:30But thanks.
- 1:31Which is cool because, like, you know, it goes in order like that in the book.
- 1:36Yeah, and I know if people have listened to these for very many days, they definitely know that when Corey doesn't agree with something that I've written.
- 1:44He's clear about that too.
- 1:45I appreciate that it's both something.
- 1:48Well, but like on page 80, right?
- 1:50It says, because it, I mean, this is code exactly, while, for a while, I'm not allowed to fill out.
- 1:55I mean, you're off a little bit.
- 1:57Because we don't copyright anything.
- 1:59I mean, you know, we don't we don't infringe.
- 2:01But if we're talking about, like, just, for instance, if we weren't talking about set nine, because it says right here, I will not rush important decisions or avoid difficult.
- 2:11And then it says, I will seek wise counsel.
- 2:14Well, it says on the top of page 80, it says if we've obtained permission, have consulted with others, right?
- 2:20And then you got prey for clarity, and then it says, and then it says on page 80, ask God to help, ask God to help.
- 2:28And the and the drastic step has indicated we must not shrink.
- 2:33And, you know, so I was kind of thinking on that line, but, you know, so I think that's cool.
- 2:37Well, I'm going to tell you this too.
- 2:39Like, you know, I'm out here just throwing flowers at everybody because I'm all happy today.
- 2:43But, uh, man, to see you, like, really, like, started to be, like, really, because, like, you might have had this before, but your dead book knowledge has gone up a lot, dude.
- 2:56Yeah, I mean, and that's just natural because we're talking about it literally like every day in some way.
- 3:01Well, that's true, you know?
- 3:03But I think that's cool, right?
- 3:04Oh yeah, absolutely is.
- 3:05Yeah, I'm excited.
- 3:06Oh, yeah, issue a guy.
- 3:07And, uh, But I like how it says, you know, I'll C-Ply's counsel, pray for clarity also in the sense of what I do on 84.
- 3:15Now, I've been really trying to do this and I sent you a text message this morning.
- 3:18So like, I'll keep note cards in my pocket during the day.
- 3:22And like when a no card, you know, kind of doles out or when I wash it or disappears, I'll write a new one.
- 3:28Yeah. And, you know, so what I have in my pocket, though, not this pocket in my work pants pocket, I wrote this morning, it's on page 84, it says continue to watch for selfishness, dishonesty, resentment, and fear, right?
- 3:41But there's 6 things in there, and man, I'm really good at the 4th thing.
- 3:47I'm really good at resolutely turn my thoughts somewhere I go.
- 3:50Yeah, I mean, I've become very good at that.
- 3:53Like in a sense of like, man, I call and check on somebody immediately when something pops up.
- 3:58But one thing that I'm trying to get better at is the last 2 things.
- 4:03Love intolerance of others is our code and I'll cease fighting anything or anyone.
- 4:08So I just changed the order up of those a little bit, put those at the top and put the last one, maybe because maybe if I put the last one at the bottom, maybe I'll practice that more, since anyways, because the last, the 1st one, which I have the last one on my list, is I ask God to remove it at once.
- 4:23So instead of saying the F-bomb, or the S word, or the any word that's bad, you know, I say, hey, God, will you remove this?
- 4:33You know, so that to me is the discipline and obedience of this.
- 4:38And I think, you know, when I practice the obedience to these principles and the way this design for living is, rather than the feelings of, I've had a bad day, or she didn't treat me right, or I didn't get what I wanted, man, because the objective nature of that, it just flows through, because there's going to be housing names.
- 4:57But if I run off my feelings, man, I'm going to run into trouble.
- 5:02But that's what I was thinking.
- 5:03I know that was a lot.
- 5:04Well, never mind not to feel this because, I mean, and I'm going to give you your flowers as well because, you know, for you to be aware, you know, of that, you know, I know you hate talking about the character defense and stuff like that.
- 5:16But for you to know, like, what are you good at and what are you not?
- 5:20You know what I mean?
- 5:21Because I still have an issue sometimes with following up or trying to get that, like, okay, what is what are the days that bothers me the most?
- 5:31Not bother me the most, but, like, what do I do that I know I could fix on and work better with?
- 5:38And you talk about, well, you're talking about obedience, you know what I mean?
- 5:40Like, that's the thing about now working this program.
- 5:44I have became way more spiritual than I really am, like I was, you know, I'm starting to read the other big book was called the Bible.
- 5:53It's just about it.
- 5:54Yeah, yeah.
- 5:57Well, I'm starting to read that book.
- 5:59Well, you don't like it when people call it the big, big book?
- 6:01Yeah, you could just say Bible, exactly.
- 6:04I don't understand why people have a problem saying, buy all the meeting, but well, because they, and then no offense because I may have heard it.
- 6:09Yeah, that's what it was.
- 6:11So I've learned to, but like, they, they want so bad not to do his show.
- 6:16Man, I believe in Jesus.
- 6:19I'm a Christian.
- 6:19I'm all that up.
- 6:21But in the sake of Alcohol's Anonymous.
- 6:24That is the one thing and the traditions and how it all aligns is that we are supposed to be able to help you until you can establish your own higher power.
- 6:34That's why this is what you say, big, big, not you, but like what other people that you've heard say, big, big book.
- 6:42Well, that's saying that this that this is a little brother to the Bible, which, man, you know, is cool, and I'm all for it, but at the same time, Alcohol's Anonymous is not there to, you know, I mean, uh, my significant other, right?
- 6:58Her 1st sponsors say, if you don't believe in Jesus, I'm not going to sponsor.
- 7:03Wow.
- 7:04And that's not a, she came back to me and said, what do I do?
- 7:07Because I don't eat, and I said, well, and I showed her, she, self in the literature.
- 7:11I said, well, maybe you go find the new sponsor. Because that's not what we believe there.
- 7:17We believe in you finding your own source, power, however you want to view that.
- 7:22And you go from there.
- 7:24And, you know, I mean, that's what's beautiful about alcohol.
- 7:27It's not...
- 7:28Yeah, and it's just like they don't pay for the fireworks, and it talks about, oh, 57, and we say, even so that has God was showed us all to our right minds.
- 7:39To this man, the revelation was sudden. Well, some of us, it was slowly, but had come to those who, honestly, solved.
- 7:48When I when that's what I get so when I seek, uh...
- 7:52See, that's that's the one I was talking about, the Bible, as you say, I was, I get more in debt with that today, because I want, I want to be obedience.
- 8:02I was thinking about being, you know, we talking about this.
- 8:05I'd be doing so much research and stuff like that.
- 8:09And uh, man, but to actually be obedient and try to go back to the traditional way of living, you know what I mean?
- 8:16Because we can get to the this, oh, well, this is not back in 19 or whatever, you know, people say that, but did it work then?
- 8:24You know, I mean, if this, if we are still human beings, what changed ain't nothing changed for time.
- 8:30You know, the things are still going on today, they're still murder.
- 8:34They're still deaf.
- 8:35They're still drinking.
- 8:36There's still stuff involved. And they was doing all that back in DC.
- 8:39You know what I mean?
- 8:40So times are still, the things are still happening, just times has changed.
- 8:44So, um, but that's, I'm, I'm, I got a copy of, yeah, I have a phone with that.
- 8:49Well, and I also get kind of, I trip out every once in a while thinking about how the big book was written and the program was formed much closer to the time of prohibition than to now.
- 9:01You know, because, I mean, what were they, what, 20 years removed from prohibition kind of stuff, you know?
- 9:08And so I think about that.
- 9:09But, uh, I won't join the the flower train today, but I will say that, uh, you know, Corey, when you were talking about the big book knowledge that I have expanding.
- 9:20I know it was your roundabout way of what I'm about to say, which is, I've just learned so much, especially since August 3rd, when he started his 1st wave episode of the online big book study on the Daily Ripples podcast.
- 9:34There's our free plug for ourselves.
- 9:36No, but seriously.
- 9:37No, I, you know, I listen to those and I, you just get so much more like connections out of it, you know, I always jokingly say, you know, before whenever you start doing that, where you start pinging off of the references, I always say that he's, you know, like a beautiful mind or like the accountant movie.
- 9:54Not that he is, you know, neurodivergent or anything, but just that he makes those connections, you know, that not everybody makes, uh, sees things differently than what a lot of people see.
- 10:04But on, you know, today's, you know, devotional, the part that I know more than anything else in there is at the end of that practical ripple where it says, peace comes from faithful obedience, not perfect certainty.
- 10:18And ask me, how do I know that one, because I've known it from experience time and time again, that whenever I obey what God wants me to do, you know, whatever the circumstance is, I have much more peace, even if it's something hard to do.
- 10:33Now, as it relates to, you know, making amends, that's been true as well. You know, I mean, one of the last biggest amends that I probably had to make was about a year ago and from my drinking days level amends, right?
- 10:46And yeah, even, you know, almost 13 years in, 12.5 years, I still had one that I had not fully made.
- 10:52And God revealed that to me.
- 10:54And so I had to make that last year.
- 10:55But once I decided to do so, I was at peace, you know, both until I had the opportunity to do it, while I was doing it, and then since then, you know, it's just, there's been that peace because I was obedient in what I knew God was wanting me to do to take care of that.
- 11:12It was one of the final, you know, pieces of wreckage for my past, you might say.
- 11:16And so, you know, clearing that aside was definitely free.
- 11:19And it reminds me of, you know, the book of Isaiah 26 and the 3rd verse that says, you will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast, and that is, you being God keeps in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast.
- 11:33And that's of Isaiah's song, and it's talking about peace flowing from a mind fixed or steadfast in trust of God.
- 11:40And that's what, you know, my experience has been because, and that's why I think it's important that these steps are in the order that they're in as well, right?
- 11:48Because by the time I am getting to making these night step amends, I should have already seen, you know, a lot of just the evidence of God's provision in my life, you know, through those previous 8 steps, I should have started that reconnection, that full connection with God that comes about through that process.
- 12:11And then, you know, I'm able to go, you know, not by myself, but with God as my helper, when I'm making those amends.
- 12:18And that makes all the difference in the world.
- 12:20Well, you know, it's important too, because when I looked, you know, if I look at myself, if I didn't know this upper mess.
- 12:28If I didn't know anything about this program, any of that, and I came in, and I walk in the doors, and I mean, and so I got to go back to where I was like 21 years old.
- 12:4021 years old. I walked in the doors, and I heard people talking about these different things, 3 weeks in, because I read the board, and, well, I was 17, my first, but, oh, I went drunk, ever, ever, you know, I went to, I remember, I didn't retain any of that too well.
- 13:01Um, But, uh, 3 weeks after that, I went to the mother, my son, and I said, hey, we're going to put this AA thing.
- 13:11Part of this is making the Mids and I just want to say I'm sorry.
- 13:17And, you know, 3 weeks later she moved out of the house.
- 13:21Oh, mate, it goes a little bit longer.
- 13:23Um, but so it was a little bit all down the road, but I remember because, oh, but it was important to me to see that.
- 13:31And it was important to me to be a part of that because, like, you know, that everything's in order for a reason because, like, I don't even know when it's up here in my head and I haven't done a forceps, so I haven't written it down.
- 13:41Right. I haven't told somebody else.
- 13:43And then I haven't listed it like me and my sponsor and we do.
- 13:48We put them on their cards, right?
- 13:50I haven't list the exact harm I've done to this person when I have them on piece of paper, there's no self-delusion going on.
- 13:57Because my mom's not thinking, well, you know, I did this.
- 14:01Well, they did that.
- 14:01And it's not this mind game.
- 14:03And so when there's not a mind game and I have it on paper, and I know exactly what I did of exactly how I touched that person, exactly when and where.
- 14:11Mayor.
- 14:12I have everything I need.
- 14:15And usually after I wrote it on paper, I can just put it away and I can say, I'm willing to do this or I'm not.
- 14:20And if I'm not willing to do that right now, I go to the amends that I'm willing to do right now, and then for some reason, the ones that are, you know, I did something just, I mean, I got, I got, I got
- 14:32I got some things I got to go do that are, you know, I mean, I was waiting for you to get to the pile of note cars that go in the never pot.
- 14:39Yeah, so whenever that was from.
- 14:40This is, you know, I remember... And then what Paris had said, that his note cards had a never option on it.
- 14:47Yeah, and they turn them into, I'm volunteer.
- 14:49Who's our?
- 14:51But yeah, I got, this is what I can talk about, but, you know, I, because I haven't made it and, you know, so I dated this girl a long time ago and man, that's what we broke up.
- 15:02I remembered there was always a window on Mar.
- 15:06So one night, 2 o'clock in the morning, I'm drunk.
- 15:10I drive up, go through the window.
- 15:12Nobody ever knew it was me.
- 15:14That's the thing.
- 15:16Bygones be bygones.
- 15:17I can play that all day long.
- 15:19Like, you know, that's the perfect example of something that nobody knows about.
- 15:23And, you know, but I have to go make that right.
- 15:27Not for, you know, just like the one we would have made amends, you went with me to the, you know, to the cemetery.
- 15:32Right?
- 15:33Nobody's ever going to know, but God knows.
- 15:36says, right?
- 15:37blocking A from God.
- 15:38And man, I'm ready to make that right because those are not mine to begin then.
- 15:42And it doesn't matter what the thing is, what it is, how I did it, what I did.
- 15:47You know, it says the spiritual life is not a theory.
- 15:50We don't talk about this stuff. Here, till dinner.
- 15:53Anyways.
- 15:54Yeah, that's, I mean, I don't know how much time we got left, but I know, on a little bit, on page 44, say, we must find a spiritual basis of life or else.
- 16:05And that or else is that for me.
- 16:07You know what I mean?
- 16:08Like, because I always, I know, um, Pastor, Mike, you, you, you might know a little bit about Matthew 633.
- 16:15Well, part of the serving of the mounted is not?
- 16:18That, you know, this, this, this verse I meditate on a lot now.
- 16:23But you got to rate it for us or just assume everyone I like to remember before read it, it's not this 633 says, but seek ye 1st, the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
- 16:36You know, so that's the partner that we was getting at when we read this, um, talking about seeking out the God, you know, the spiritual, on the spiritual part of this, um, it says, um, following a Christ example of trust in Father Will.
- 16:50I will, I find obedience, gradually, with places inside of a peace.
- 16:55Amen. It's the peace that I have. And it's right.
- 16:58So if I if I meditate on that verse, you know, if I'm seeking the God and the kingdom, you know, everything else, you know, just falls in line, man, you know, all the means I have to make, all this stuff will come, come when time is needed.
- 17:11You know, that's not a word today.
- 17:13No, I'm on my behalf.
- 17:14But yeah, let's not go ahead and say.
- 17:16Well, it's definitely time to pray now, Corey.
- 17:19But, um, Father God got my decisions with your wisdom today, through your Holy Spirit, give me the courage to follow where you eat, shave me through the example of Jesus, or fill my heart with your peace, anger.
- 17:41Yeah, so Michael made a rap of me call, uh, coffin? Or, uh...
- 17:50Yeah, so you know it's going to end up at the end of this episode now.
- 17:54You pretty much open the door for that one.
- 18:05But
