- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The world's
- 0:14Speaker 1: welcome to Patriot It's unfiltered. Good week for picks for
- 0:20Speaker 1: you guys. Oh yeah, yeah for you guys. Yeah not you.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I was fine, But I mean that, I mean the
- 0:26Speaker 1: book was right right when you would you rather the
- 0:29Speaker 1: Patriots sneaked through the playoffs and win the Super Bowl though, Yes,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but end up keeping Patricia as OC next year? Yes?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Or missed the playoffs and bring in a qualified OC
- 0:37Speaker 1: next Fie, I'll take the super bowlemy right, and his
- 0:41Speaker 1: number was lower than yours. Twelve point two. Okay, so
- 0:45Speaker 1: yours at twelve point seven, so we got half a
- 0:47Speaker 1: point one. No, he's saying, if you add I know
- 0:49Speaker 1: what he's saying. It's not hard, it's not brain surgery.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I understand what he's saying. They had one touchdown of one. Well,
- 0:56Speaker 1: what I'm glad I went to the car. Well, he
- 0:57Speaker 1: can't be the guy with the umbrella. Mike Stacey's from Seattle.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He frowns upon that. He really does. If Giardi was here,
- 1:05Speaker 1: he pitched a tent and he I'm sorry this is
- 1:08Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It is the first of our off season. Unfortunately, our
- 1:19Speaker 1: first off season program of the twenty twenty three season
- 1:23Speaker 1: is of course, everyone knows Patriots season ended prematurely, right
- 1:31Speaker 1: on schedule. No, I mean that's a good question, Like,
- 1:34Speaker 1: you know, that's probably all right. I don't know. I
- 1:36Speaker 1: thought this show is on schedule because we all kind
- 1:40Speaker 1: of had them at eight nine, eight nine seven eight
- 1:43Speaker 1: wins nine, So we're gonna recap that, and you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: now the off season process begins it. You know, it's
- 1:52Speaker 1: the Senior Bowl, which we're gonna have people at the
- 1:54Speaker 1: combine the draft, free agency, and then internal probably before
- 2:01Speaker 1: any of that, we're gonna have some news internally. Yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 1: I would think that would be reasonably quick. One of
- 2:06Speaker 1: Paul's guys, Greg Bdard, reported that the Craft, the Craft,
- 2:10Speaker 1: the Crafts and Belichick will have their meeting either last
- 2:14Speaker 1: night or today, So I would assume that, Yeah, you
- 2:18Speaker 1: gotta move quick because if you are going to make changes,
- 2:21Speaker 1: there are people available that may not be available very soon.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So you gotta you gotta set your sights on who
- 2:27Speaker 1: you want and go after them. It's interesting. Oh sorry,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was just gonna say it's interesting yesterday, like you
- 2:31Speaker 1: had a lot of heard a lot a lot of
- 2:32Speaker 1: people getting fired. Nor ever remember that really ever happening
- 2:36Speaker 1: around here? Dido was there ever? Kind of a Monday
- 2:39Speaker 1: here Black Monday? Sorry black Monday have been We just
- 2:42Speaker 1: don't hear about it. Yeah, it's kind of like Dean
- 2:44Speaker 1: peaceless quickly shows particippears Brad Seely. Yeah. I don't think
- 2:50Speaker 1: Brad Seeley got fired. Well you quit think? Yeah, yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 1: he quit. That happens a lot we I mean, obviously
- 2:55Speaker 1: that's the brain drain. We've lost a lot of coaches
- 2:57Speaker 1: over the year. Yeah, but he wanted to stay. They
- 2:59Speaker 1: just wouldn't give him the money. But but that's why
- 3:01Speaker 1: he left, right yeah, right as opposed to like Dan
- 3:04Speaker 1: P's like this decision wasn't his and he might retire
- 3:08Speaker 1: for retired? Did he did? Yeah? So yeah, it hasn't
- 3:13Speaker 1: been like not not you know that It just doesn't
- 3:16Speaker 1: seem like how they really do it. I just don't
- 3:18Speaker 1: think they want to bury coaches, right, Like I think
- 3:20Speaker 1: when you fire a coach, it it has a negative
- 3:22Speaker 1: stigma on their career, and they would much rather just
- 3:25Speaker 1: have that coach disappear. Then they just move you to
- 3:28Speaker 1: the basement. Right. But I feel like when you do
- 3:31Speaker 1: it that soon, like you're kind of showing the team
- 3:34Speaker 1: and the fan base like, Okay, we care, we see,
- 3:36Speaker 1: we know there's an issue. We are ready to take
- 3:38Speaker 1: care of it too. So yeah, I don't know. I
- 3:40Speaker 1: kind of like it. I kind of liked the email
- 3:42Speaker 1: that went out to the season ticket holders as well,
- 3:44Speaker 1: kind of saying like, we are going to make some changes. See,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I didn't you didn't know you don't like the change.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I didn't think. I was like, like, I liked it,
- 3:52Speaker 1: Like I understand what they want to do with that.
- 3:55Speaker 1: But if I if I was the owner, I would
- 3:59Speaker 1: say I'm not saying it anything until I know what
- 4:01Speaker 1: the changes are, right, Because let's just say you got
- 4:03Speaker 1: that email, you're you're a season ticket holder, you get
- 4:06Speaker 1: the email, the letter, and then there are no changes.
- 4:10Speaker 1: There have to be changes. Okay, they're like you say that,
- 4:13Speaker 1: now you say that, But what if there aren't any
- 4:16Speaker 1: changes now you've got this letter, It's like whoa you know?
- 4:19Speaker 1: So everything was okay? I guess I feel like when
- 4:22Speaker 1: I just look back to the owners meetings last year,
- 4:24Speaker 1: when you know, Craft is saying like, hey, we have
- 4:27Speaker 1: not had that grade of drafts, Like we haven't won
- 4:29Speaker 1: a playoff game. Like I feel like this season was
- 4:33Speaker 1: kind of just like the icing on the cake and
- 4:35Speaker 1: there have to be changes, like because neither those things
- 4:38Speaker 1: have changed. Yeah, they still haven't won a playoff game.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And the drafts have been better, But I don't think
- 4:42Speaker 1: it's I don't think the method to the drafts has
- 4:44Speaker 1: been any different. I think that they just might have
- 4:47Speaker 1: picked some better players. But if you Robert Craft, you're
- 4:49Speaker 1: in a tough position because you've got this legendary coach.
- 4:53Speaker 1: He's yours. Everybody else would want him. I think some,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you know, some would disagree, but I think that everybody
- 5:02Speaker 1: else would want him. And you know you're gonna sit
- 5:06Speaker 1: down with him. And what if he says, look, mister Kraft,
- 5:09Speaker 1: Matt Patricia's gonna get better. I saw I saw improvement
- 5:14Speaker 1: just in this last years. Yeah, but at what costs? Okay,
- 5:18Speaker 1: at what costs and how long? Right, he's gonna But
- 5:21Speaker 1: what if And I'm not saying he's gonna make this case,
- 5:23Speaker 1: but what if he does? What do you do? If
- 5:25Speaker 1: you're the owner, are you saying no, I know better? Yeah?
- 5:30Speaker 1: At what point? And if you're guaranteeing changes and that happens,
- 5:33Speaker 1: then you're changing the head coach. And I don't think
- 5:35Speaker 1: that's what anybody wants. So I wouldn't have if I
- 5:39Speaker 1: Maybe I'm a coward, but I wouldn't have put that
- 5:42Speaker 1: letter out until I know what that there are going
- 5:44Speaker 1: to be changes. I feel like he put that out
- 5:47Speaker 1: like kind of putting his boot down, that there are
- 5:48Speaker 1: going to be changes, like I let you have your
- 5:51Speaker 1: trial and error year didn't work out, Like now it's
- 5:53Speaker 1: time to yeah, to to do something else. You could
- 5:56Speaker 1: be right, yeah, yeah, but I think that's dangerous to
- 5:59Speaker 1: you a point for yeah, you know, because like Bill
- 6:03Speaker 1: might come up with a compelling argument. I've been saying
- 6:06Speaker 1: this from afraid of See I'm a little afraid of
- 6:08Speaker 1: it too, Evan, and I just that's the whole notion
- 6:12Speaker 1: that if if you're going to make Bill make changes,
- 6:16Speaker 1: they're not going to work. He has to want to
- 6:19Speaker 1: make changes, right, right, That's that's what my concern is. Well,
- 6:22Speaker 1: then if he doesn't want to make changes, do you
- 6:25Speaker 1: move on? That's the that's like if you're guaranteeing changes
- 6:29Speaker 1: as the ownership. Do you have the sand? That's what
- 6:31Speaker 1: you have to do. Do you have the sand to
- 6:32Speaker 1: move on the sand? You ever hear that expression. I'm
- 6:36Speaker 1: terrified after watching the film of Sunday's game that they're
- 6:41Speaker 1: going to side with Patricia. Terrified of it because if
- 6:45Speaker 1: I had to grade this game in a vacuum of
- 6:48Speaker 1: who was better Mac or Patricia in this one game,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'd give it to Patricia. Right, And that's that to me.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I've always heard, just talking to people around the building
- 6:58Speaker 1: that the fine game and this is what I wrote,
- 7:01Speaker 1: The final game is the final exam for Bill Belichick, right,
- 7:03Speaker 1: this is it's a playoff game. It's a pseudo playoff game.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Like Sunday, You're going up against a good team in Buffalo.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All this is this is for all the marbles. How
- 7:13Speaker 1: do you perform in that stage is more important to
- 7:16Speaker 1: them than how you perform in week three or four
- 7:18Speaker 1: or five of this regular season. And Matt Patricia called
- 7:23Speaker 1: probably his best game of the year on Sunday. Now,
- 7:26Speaker 1: a lot of the things that they did I've been
- 7:28Speaker 1: clamoring for them to do all year. Then all of
- 7:29Speaker 1: a sudden, they did them in Week eighteen, and that
- 7:31Speaker 1: doesn't excuse the fact that they didn't do them for
- 7:34Speaker 1: the first sixteen games of the season. But looking at
- 7:37Speaker 1: it from Bill Belichick's standpoint, I could see how you
- 7:40Speaker 1: could make the argument that they got better at game planning,
- 7:44Speaker 1: play design, calling the plays, and sequencing the plays. So
- 7:49Speaker 1: let's just play that. Let's let's play that out. You know,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm telling Robert Kraft that. And then mister Kraft, what
- 7:55Speaker 1: if we had a better right tackle, what if we
- 7:58Speaker 1: had a number one wide receiver? What if we spent
- 8:03Speaker 1: a little bit of money in the office. So now
- 8:05Speaker 1: you're getting to the press conference ship, Oh, I know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I'm about I'm about I was head in that direction, team,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I'm about to what if we spent a little money
- 8:13Speaker 1: in these areas? How much better would it be with
- 8:16Speaker 1: Matt Patricia, with Mac Jones? You know? And like Paul said,
- 8:21Speaker 1: Bill made it a point yesterday to let the media
- 8:25Speaker 1: know that we're twenty seventh in cash spending over the
- 8:28Speaker 1: last three years. And it's why. And I want to
- 8:31Speaker 1: get Evan's views because it sounds like he's jumping at
- 8:34Speaker 1: the bit too, but it's it's why I share Evan's
- 8:37Speaker 1: fear that Bill doesn't see it the way the rest
- 8:40Speaker 1: of us do, right, because I think he I think
- 8:43Speaker 1: if you look at the entirety of that press conference yesterday,
- 8:45Speaker 1: it started off his opening monologue, had a little to
- 8:49Speaker 1: do with the Bills, and it was just the wonderful
- 8:51Speaker 1: throws that Alan made. I mean, nothing that we did wrong, really,
- 8:54Speaker 1: it was just a transcendental player that you know, he
- 8:58Speaker 1: just made passes that no one else can do. Then,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know, a little bit further on, Mark Daniels asked him,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you know, a very simple basic question, if healthy is
- 9:07Speaker 1: Mac Jones, you're starting quarterback heading into next season. He
- 9:11Speaker 1: has the ability to play in this league, right, So
- 9:15Speaker 1: I don't know what you expect me to do with
- 9:17Speaker 1: this guy, Evan, But I mean he, I mean, he
- 9:18Speaker 1: probably has the ability to play in this league. But
- 9:21Speaker 1: I mean we have to find out, including the quarterback,
- 9:24Speaker 1: where we're gonna how we're gonna be able to improve
- 9:26Speaker 1: our production. That was the answer, again, not my fault,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and then he ends it with a very benign question
- 9:32Speaker 1: about the twenty twenty one free agent class, which was
- 9:35Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy some odd million and guaranteed money
- 9:39Speaker 1: have you felt like you've gotten the bang for the buck? Right?
- 9:42Speaker 1: And I'm sorry, but the question coming out with the
- 9:46Speaker 1: specific fact of twenty seventh in spending is not something
- 9:50Speaker 1: that comes off the top of one's head. No, it
- 9:52Speaker 1: didn't even address the question. It didn't address the question
- 9:55Speaker 1: at all. But he had it locked and loaded, right,
- 9:57Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking And I don't think and I'm
- 9:59Speaker 1: not saying he at it locked in loaded because he
- 10:01Speaker 1: wanted to embarrass Robert Kraft. I don't think that was
- 10:03Speaker 1: his intention. I think he was stating a point of fact.
- 10:06Speaker 1: We haven't spent that much money over the last three years. Yes,
- 10:10Speaker 1: we spent a lot in twenty twenty one, but not
- 10:12Speaker 1: a lot in twenty twenty and not a lot in
- 10:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. So, in other words, what do you
- 10:17Speaker 1: expect from me? I think the whole press conference was
- 10:20Speaker 1: don't blame me, it ain't my fault. Yeah, so it's
- 10:25Speaker 1: going to be interesting, Like I said, you know, so
- 10:29Speaker 1: getting back to the letter, I would have liked I
- 10:31Speaker 1: want to know, yeah, there's going to be changes before
- 10:35Speaker 1: I tell fans that there's going to be changing. I mean, technically,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I guess like there will be changes if, even if
- 10:42Speaker 1: it's not to the coaching staff, you're gonna have to
- 10:45Speaker 1: spend somebody this offseason to get some people in here. Yeah,
- 10:48Speaker 1: but I mean, so that technically changes, even though it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: not like the coaching changes, player changes that happen. You know,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the letter says we're going to critically evaluate all areas
- 10:59Speaker 1: of the oy, you know, the football operation, and then
- 11:03Speaker 1: you come up and decide, okay, everything he's good. I
- 11:06Speaker 1: don't think fans are gonna like that. You think Mac
- 11:09Speaker 1: gets any input in this situation because if you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: if Bill says this kind of thing with Patricia, do
- 11:15Speaker 1: you think Robert wants to hear what Max thoughts are
- 11:17Speaker 1: on that? Well, like, okay, let's let's leave Robert out
- 11:20Speaker 1: of it for a second. What if Mac. Does Mac
- 11:22Speaker 1: have the comfort level to go to Bill and say,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, Joe Judge just isn't a good quarterback coach?
- 11:29Speaker 1: You know, does he have the comfort level to say that?
- 11:32Speaker 1: And would Bill listen, Man, that's a hard I mean,
- 11:34Speaker 1: that's I just I think about a quarter saying though
- 11:37Speaker 1: I could see Mac having an ability to go to
- 11:40Speaker 1: Robert and talk to him, I would say I don't
- 11:42Speaker 1: want him doing that. I don't want him. Do you
- 11:45Speaker 1: want my players going to the owner the last quarterback?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Then yeah? Yeah, because God and by the way, and
- 11:53Speaker 1: that wasn't a good Yeah. But if you go to
- 11:55Speaker 1: Bill you might get suspended or no. I then that's
- 11:58Speaker 1: wrong too. If my coach can't listen to the quarterback
- 12:03Speaker 1: when he's trying to be honest with him and tell
- 12:05Speaker 1: him his true feelings, you can say, hey, suck it up.
- 12:08Speaker 1: He's your coach, but at least he should be allowed
- 12:11Speaker 1: to say it, you know, But does Robert, I mean,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Matt can go, but does Robert want his opinion? You know?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Do you as an owner do do you want? You know,
- 12:20Speaker 1: especially now where you're talking about, we're getting into a
- 12:22Speaker 1: generational thing where you've got a kid in his you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: mid twenties, a coach into entering his seventies. You know,
- 12:29Speaker 1: is that something that ownership wants to perspective? I think,
- 12:33Speaker 1: you know, everybody probably thinks the answer should be yes.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But I think it's a dangerous thing because at what
- 12:38Speaker 1: point does the owner, you know, listen to the quarterback
- 12:42Speaker 1: over the coach. Yeah? No, I agree, you know, that's
- 12:44Speaker 1: a tough but that's a different argument like he can't
- 12:48Speaker 1: do that. Well, you can't just take all your players
- 12:51Speaker 1: and you know now you're you're undermining your coach, right,
- 12:55Speaker 1: or but wouldn't you want to hear both sides, Like
- 12:59Speaker 1: I don't have any problem with them talking about that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That's just the point of like, you know, we can
- 13:02Speaker 1: all speculate. Well, Bill says it's okay, Well what does
- 13:04Speaker 1: Max say? Does Mac think that it got better? Does
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know? I mean just for you know, to gather information,
- 13:08Speaker 1: not saying that, Oh what Max says, I'm gonna, you know,
- 13:11Speaker 1: start going behind Bill's back and doing stuff where you
- 13:14Speaker 1: picked like what if you got Mac Romandre, David Andrews
- 13:18Speaker 1: or like like I'm saying one from each musician round.
- 13:20Speaker 1: The coach thinks the quarterback is the problem with The
- 13:25Speaker 1: coach thinks the quarterbacks the problem after they After I
- 13:29Speaker 1: woke myself up at seven forty five, after traveling back
- 13:32Speaker 1: from Buffalo, I woe is me? I shouldn't have said that. Anyways,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I dreaming about Allen that you can get to. I
- 13:42Speaker 1: listen to Bill Belichick say that he can play in
- 13:44Speaker 1: this league. Then I watched the film and I said
- 13:47Speaker 1: to myself, the coach thinks the quarterbacks the problem. Yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: because what he left off was he can play in
- 13:52Speaker 1: this league if he listens to coaching. I don't even
- 13:55Speaker 1: know if it's so much if it's listening to coaching.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I just think that there's physical limitations that he sees
- 14:01Speaker 1: on film with Mac Jones that he doesn't think that
- 14:04Speaker 1: it can get significantly better. Maybe if they button up
- 14:08Speaker 1: some of the things and make it more consistent around him,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and the line is better and the receivers are better,
- 14:13Speaker 1: we can get to a spot where we're in the
- 14:18Speaker 1: playoffs again. But I don't think the coach thinks the
- 14:21Speaker 1: quarterbacks championship caliber. I don't think he thinks that he's
- 14:23Speaker 1: met built for it. I don't think he thinks that
- 14:26Speaker 1: he can play at that level on the field. I
- 14:29Speaker 1: don't think he thinks he has the attitude or why
- 14:31Speaker 1: you guys give Evan such a hard time for all
- 14:33Speaker 1: the film he watch, But the man has a lot
- 14:36Speaker 1: of good points. It's terrible, but I agree with Evan.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I feel like everything everything around Mac has to be
- 14:47Speaker 1: perfect for him to be good, and unfortunately that's never
- 14:50Speaker 1: going to happen. Yeah, and this is really not about
- 14:52Speaker 1: what we think of Mac. But I think Evan's point
- 14:55Speaker 1: I agree with is that I don't think Bill is sold.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I think that why, you know, like to answer the
- 15:01Speaker 1: question as to why five different times this year he
- 15:04Speaker 1: had an opportunity to say, yeah, Max my starting quarterback.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I don't think he thinks that. I think right now
- 15:10Speaker 1: he thinks there's a chance, at the very least that
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's a competition going into training camp with him and Zappie.
- 15:16Speaker 1: As crazy as that sound, but I think that they
- 15:18Speaker 1: will be in the market for one of these veterans
- 15:21Speaker 1: who's going to pop available, whether that's my Garoppolo or
- 15:25Speaker 1: a Car or somebody. Because I'm not telling you that
- 15:29Speaker 1: I want to do that. I wouldn't want any part
- 15:31Speaker 1: of that either. Yeah, unless I, you know, could get
- 15:33Speaker 1: something for Mac Jones in a trade, which I don't
- 15:36Speaker 1: think you can. So otherwise I would just rather have
- 15:39Speaker 1: a third, third year guy and see if there's something
- 15:41Speaker 1: more there that could potentially be had. I know what
- 15:44Speaker 1: Garoppolo and Car are in their average if that if
- 15:48Speaker 1: he if my theory is correct, and I can explain
- 15:52Speaker 1: the film if you guys want me to have why
- 15:55Speaker 1: I think that on tape with him from this game
- 15:58Speaker 1: on Sunday. If my theory is correct, there's two ways
- 16:01Speaker 1: out of this. One is that you go into year
- 16:04Speaker 1: three with Mac and you try to coach them up
- 16:07Speaker 1: and you try to get the best out of them
- 16:08Speaker 1: that you possibly can, and you're probably ten and seven
- 16:11Speaker 1: and back in the playoffs, and maybe you make some noise,
- 16:13Speaker 1: maybe you don't. But option number one is either go
- 16:20Speaker 1: grovel back at the feet of twelve and ask him
- 16:22Speaker 1: to come back, trade for Aaron Rodgers, or try to
- 16:28Speaker 1: steal Lamar Jackson from Baltimore. I would just hope that
- 16:32Speaker 1: we don't have any important games at home and we
- 16:34Speaker 1: could get at that. My point is, if you are
- 16:37Speaker 1: not it is apparent to me that the coach is
- 16:40Speaker 1: not sold on the quarterback. And if you're not sold
- 16:42Speaker 1: on the quarterback, you have two options, and that is
- 16:45Speaker 1: so you know, to suck it up or swing. So
- 16:47Speaker 1: it seems to me, I like it seems to be
- 16:49Speaker 1: Evan and your solutions. It's there's solutions in order to
- 16:53Speaker 1: win right away, right right Because in my mind, based
- 16:58Speaker 1: off of all of this, I think that Bill is
- 17:01Speaker 1: seventy one years old or going to be seventy one
- 17:03Speaker 1: years old. He's in it. Now basically to try to
- 17:08Speaker 1: win a championship without Brady, But mostly I think he's
- 17:10Speaker 1: in it to compete with Shula, right he wants to
- 17:12Speaker 1: pass Shula, and so at most he's eighteen win shy
- 17:16Speaker 1: of Don Shula right now, so he can do it
- 17:18Speaker 1: in two years. So he's got a two year window here.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And the coach at Denver about two years ago and
- 17:24Speaker 1: everybody said it would be two years and he could
- 17:25Speaker 1: break the record. Now it's for did the head coach
- 17:28Speaker 1: in Denver who got fired? Is he still out there?
- 17:31Speaker 1: So you bring Rogers and him in as OC? Sure? Sure?
- 17:36Speaker 1: I just think that the Nate Hackett, Yeah, I think
- 17:40Speaker 1: that it started. It started with some of the things
- 17:43Speaker 1: that Mike brought up about the age difference in the
- 17:47Speaker 1: generational gap and stuff like that. I think when the
- 17:49Speaker 1: injury occurred with the ankle, it started with that where
- 17:54Speaker 1: Bill disagreed whether he thought that Mack was healthy to
- 17:58Speaker 1: play or not healthy to play or whatever the disagreement was.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I don't know, but they didn't see eye to eye.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Mac wanted to take control of his rehab and take
- 18:07Speaker 1: control of the process to get him back on the field,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and Bill was saying no, no, no no, no, no, like
- 18:13Speaker 1: this is this is my you know, you're my player,
- 18:15Speaker 1: like you play for my team. You're gonna work with
- 18:17Speaker 1: my guys. You're gonna work with my doctor. It's the
- 18:20Speaker 1: Alex Guerrero thing. Yeah right, it's yep. I think that
- 18:23Speaker 1: was part of it. Yeah. I think it started with that,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and then I think and recently, especially in this this
- 18:29Speaker 1: Bill's game, I think mac Lett left a lot of
- 18:32Speaker 1: plays on the fall. Well, I think it started before that.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I think it started in the off season. Yeah. I
- 18:37Speaker 1: think once this new installment was happening, I think there
- 18:41Speaker 1: was a lot of you know, why why are we
- 18:43Speaker 1: doing this? And yeah, I think it. You know, again,
- 18:46Speaker 1: this is all speculation people, so like we don't know anything,
- 18:49Speaker 1: but like, but we do know what was being questioned,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and you know, it could have been grown tired some
- 18:55Speaker 1: you know, for the coaches to be constantly questioned, you know.
- 18:58Speaker 1: So you know, I think it started before that, and
- 19:01Speaker 1: then the injury happens, and then that compounds it, and
- 19:05Speaker 1: then the antics you know, during games, and it just
- 19:09Speaker 1: adds up. It adds up, and you know, you're right,
- 19:13Speaker 1: we are speculating, right, But when you when you speculate
- 19:17Speaker 1: and then you have things that happen after that that
- 19:20Speaker 1: sort of back up the speculation, like we talked about
- 19:23Speaker 1: in the offseason that he didn't seem comfortable. Then we
- 19:28Speaker 1: watched him at the start of training camp and he
- 19:30Speaker 1: seemed not uncomfortable, agitated at times when he had to
- 19:34Speaker 1: speak with us talking about the frustration levels. And I
- 19:37Speaker 1: think then you started to see guys like David Andrews,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, go off on the offense one day because
- 19:43Speaker 1: of how badly they were executing. It just makes sense
- 19:46Speaker 1: the way it looks right. So you take that, you
- 19:48Speaker 1: take that speculation that we had, like, wow, it doesn't
- 19:51Speaker 1: seem like Mac is on board with this new system,
- 19:54Speaker 1: whether it be the actual XS and knows that they
- 19:57Speaker 1: were doing, or just the fact that it was Matt Patricia,
- 20:01Speaker 1: a defensive coordinator who's running the offense. And then you
- 20:04Speaker 1: go to the regular season, and I think Evan's point
- 20:07Speaker 1: was a really good one because now all of a sudden,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you you hang me out to dry. I get hurt.
- 20:12Speaker 1: You don't want me to rehab the way I want
- 20:14Speaker 1: to rehab. Then you want me to come back. You
- 20:16Speaker 1: take me out of the first the first sign of
- 20:18Speaker 1: trouble you yank me, and now I'm getting booed in
- 20:21Speaker 1: my own stadium. Like that was a lot to handle.
- 20:23Speaker 1: And what happened after that when he started playing every
- 20:26Speaker 1: other game, it was no go away, No I got
- 20:29Speaker 1: this right? No, what are we doing? You know? Like
- 20:31Speaker 1: it was these demonstrative historionics showing up the coaches. Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 1: So like we can say with speculating, but the evidence
- 20:39Speaker 1: tells you our speculation is pretty close. Yeah, and everybody
- 20:43Speaker 1: else is doing the same thing, right, Yeah, Just what
- 20:45Speaker 1: direction are they going to take with the personnel? And
- 20:47Speaker 1: you know, like just how does this reflect the moves
- 20:49Speaker 1: that they make, how they do feel about Matt because
- 20:51Speaker 1: I just wonder, I mean, Evan laid out those three
- 20:54Speaker 1: huge moves to make. I mean, are those really likely
- 20:57Speaker 1: that you're gonna get Brady Rogers or Lamar here next year?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Probably not? If what do you do if you really
- 21:03Speaker 1: don't like him? What do you do if there is
- 21:04Speaker 1: a place where Robert Kraft does put his foot down
- 21:07Speaker 1: that isn't considered meddling. I hope it's Whatever the moves are, Bill,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you have to come out and say what they are.
- 21:15Speaker 1: If you're gonna make somebody a coach what who's he coaching?
- 21:18Speaker 1: What's his title? Like, no more of this, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: stuff where nobody needs to know except us. You know
- 21:26Speaker 1: what was the phrase you used about, either write it
- 21:29Speaker 1: out or a swing big? Yes, that pretty much. I
- 21:33Speaker 1: like that, Like because Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, like you're
- 21:37Speaker 1: just that's Matt Jones, right, like you're just looking in
- 21:39Speaker 1: the middle. But I think that I think Garoppolo, if
- 21:42Speaker 1: you're running like a West Coast type of offense where
- 21:45Speaker 1: it's a rhythm, three step drop, get it out of
- 21:47Speaker 1: I think he's, like I've seen him, you know, perform
- 21:51Speaker 1: flawlessly in those conditions. Like he's his release, his accuracy.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It's perfect for that type of system. And you just
- 21:59Speaker 1: don't have that kind of system. I know you'd have
- 22:01Speaker 1: to change, right, but if you bring you're gonna have
- 22:04Speaker 1: to do that too. Yeah, requires the most work, but
- 22:07Speaker 1: he also requires, you know, out of those options, the
- 22:11Speaker 1: highest upside, right. Yeah. I think that when you watch
- 22:14Speaker 1: this game against Buffalo, there's little things that come up
- 22:18Speaker 1: because he starts out he's thirteen for sixteen in the
- 22:20Speaker 1: first half, and he played well in the first half,
- 22:22Speaker 1: but then you start to look at Okay, what were
- 22:24Speaker 1: the throws that he actually made in the first half,
- 22:27Speaker 1: And a lot of it's off play action. It's a
- 22:30Speaker 1: lot of the things I used to say about Zappy
- 22:32Speaker 1: right where it's right, he's he's yes, he's distributing the
- 22:35Speaker 1: ball to the open guy, but there's open. These are
- 22:37Speaker 1: not high level throws, right, This is not Some of
- 22:40Speaker 1: the throws that he game made against Miami and Cincinnati
- 22:42Speaker 1: were higher level throws, and the throws that he made
- 22:45Speaker 1: in this game against Buffalo. But it's the little things
- 22:47Speaker 1: that come up, like on third down when he steps
- 22:50Speaker 1: through the pocket and he hits Hunter Henry over the
- 22:52Speaker 1: middle to convert. If that the ball just dives on him,
- 22:58Speaker 1: right if he if the ball hits Hunter in stride,
- 23:01Speaker 1: there's another fifteen yards to be had on that play.
- 23:04Speaker 1: But because mac Jones throws off balance, you know, with
- 23:07Speaker 1: his feet not set, he doesn't get it there on
- 23:10Speaker 1: a line and the ball ducks on him. It's stuff
- 23:14Speaker 1: like the first third down of the game, it's a
- 23:16Speaker 1: four man rush. They run a ten e on the
- 23:18Speaker 1: left hand side. It doesn't get picked up. I get that.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But DeVante Parker is on a shallow drag. He's open
- 23:24Speaker 1: and mac panics in the pocket. He runs around and
- 23:27Speaker 1: then he gets smoked by Greg Russo. And if you're
- 23:32Speaker 1: gonna be that type of quarterback, you're gonna be a
- 23:35Speaker 1: pocket passer. You need to beat pressure with your arm.
- 23:39Speaker 1: You can't. You're not You're not Lamar Jackson or Russell
- 23:41Speaker 1: Wilson or Josh Allen that can run out of pressure.
- 23:44Speaker 1: So the best way to beat pressure in that situation
- 23:48Speaker 1: was just to dump it off to DeVante Parker and
- 23:50Speaker 1: hope that DeVante Parker picks up the first down with
- 23:52Speaker 1: his legs. And he didn't give him the opportunity to
- 23:55Speaker 1: do that. And as a coach, I could see watching
- 23:58Speaker 1: that film and saying, well, if we get a quarterback
- 24:02Speaker 1: that keeps Hunter Henry on his feet instead of making
- 24:04Speaker 1: him go down to make this catch, this play doesn't
- 24:07Speaker 1: just gain eight yards, it gains twenty eight yards. And
- 24:09Speaker 1: if we get a quarterback that on third down doesn't
- 24:12Speaker 1: panic when the rush, you know, the pocket collapse, is
- 24:14Speaker 1: a little bit around him and hits the Vante Parker
- 24:16Speaker 1: on this shallow drag, then we don't go three and
- 24:18Speaker 1: out on the first drive of the game. And I'm
- 24:21Speaker 1: not necessarily saying that I agree with that as on
- 24:24Speaker 1: a hole. But I what I'm saying, what I said
- 24:27Speaker 1: at the beginning, is that I'm afraid that they're going
- 24:30Speaker 1: to see it that way because I can just I
- 24:32Speaker 1: just did talk myself into that, right, and so I
- 24:35Speaker 1: could see them seeing it that way. Now, my rebuttal
- 24:40Speaker 1: to that would be, for the first sixteen games of
- 24:44Speaker 1: the season, you ditch play action, You try to experiment
- 24:49Speaker 1: with outside zone all summer long. When you were a
- 24:51Speaker 1: gap running team, you did all of these things that
- 24:55Speaker 1: made no sense whatsoever. You are do you in the
- 25:00Speaker 1: league in play action rate? Last year? You were tenth?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Why why did we change that best interest of the team? Ever?
- 25:07Speaker 1: And then in Week eighteen they start to dial up
- 25:09Speaker 1: some play action and he goes nine for nine for
- 25:13Speaker 1: ninety five yards off of play action, And I'm sitting
- 25:16Speaker 1: there saying, where was this all year? Like? Why aren't
- 25:20Speaker 1: we why haven't we been doing this all year? Right?
- 25:24Speaker 1: I just can't. I'm going back to a point that
- 25:26Speaker 1: I made in the postgame show, which I brought up
- 25:29Speaker 1: Trent Edwards. I brought up Buffalo in two thousand and
- 25:33Speaker 1: nine or whatever, asking themselves, as Trent Edwards, the answer
- 25:36Speaker 1: and it's like, does it really matter when you've got
- 25:38Speaker 1: a Tom Brady or a Josh Allen in the division?
- 25:40Speaker 1: And at what point do you say, what are we
- 25:42Speaker 1: trying to do here? Are we legitimately trying to challenge
- 25:45Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen over the next decade
- 25:48Speaker 1: or are we just trying to put together an okay
- 25:50Speaker 1: team that can maybe squeak into the playoffs. And so
- 25:52Speaker 1: it's like to some of these points that Evan's making,
- 25:54Speaker 1: I'm like, maybe you do just say screw it? Like, like,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I mean, what would your advice be to the Bills
- 25:59Speaker 1: at the two thousands, Like, you're not beating the Patriots.
- 26:01Speaker 1: You're not going to beat the Patriots until twenty eighteen,
- 26:03Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, That's when you'll be competitive. Would they have
- 26:06Speaker 1: still continued that of all right, try trying to wait,
- 26:10Speaker 1: all right, let's try this other guy, you know, like
- 26:11Speaker 1: because do you do that? So? Like should you be affected?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Like and say, well, my guy's okay, but he can't
- 26:19Speaker 1: compete with that, yeah, and he's in my division, So
- 26:22Speaker 1: I need to try to get better. Like, as to
- 26:24Speaker 1: use Evans phrase that, I really like, you know, do
- 26:26Speaker 1: you do you go big do you do? You swing
- 26:28Speaker 1: for the fences and try to get something that can
- 26:31Speaker 1: compete with jas. I also don't think it has to
- 26:33Speaker 1: necessarily just be a quarterback, like I know it fell
- 26:35Speaker 1: apart from Miami, but they swing big by training for
- 26:38Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill and it makes their offense exponentially better. And
- 26:42Speaker 1: they played better against Buffalo than you did this year.
- 26:44Speaker 1: And it's been it's pretty apparent that when Tua is healthy,
- 26:47Speaker 1: and I know that's a big function, they can compete
- 26:49Speaker 1: with all those teams, right, you know, it's interesting while
- 26:52Speaker 1: Brady was here, you know, I'm talking about the Jets,
- 26:55Speaker 1: Buffalo in Miami, they really never got or one big
- 27:00Speaker 1: for a quarterback. They tried to draft quarterbacks, but Miami
- 27:04Speaker 1: trying to get Breeze I think at one point was
- 27:05Speaker 1: maybe one of the only but they didn't get them obviously,
- 27:08Speaker 1: but they failed is what they did. They I mean,
- 27:12Speaker 1: they all they often swung, but they never got the
- 27:14Speaker 1: right guy. Like they they went first round picks, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 1: multiple years with guys that just weren't good enough, like
- 27:21Speaker 1: JP Lastman, EJ Manuel you know in Buffalo, right, you know,
- 27:25Speaker 1: just as I mean, they were first round picks, but
- 27:27Speaker 1: they weren't good enough. Yeah, they were Mac Jones and
- 27:29Speaker 1: they were all what a couple of years and out.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I mean, how many of those guys saw the end
- 27:33Speaker 1: of their contract as a starter. I mean any of them,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I don't think, you know, yeah, no, that like they
- 27:37Speaker 1: just weren't good enough. And you know, for the most part,
- 27:40Speaker 1: Miami had an endless circle of Joey Harrington, j Fieler,
- 27:44Speaker 1: all right, Gus far Rod. You know, I think they
- 27:47Speaker 1: even had Trent Green at the end of his career,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you know, I mean the closest they tried, like, you know,
- 27:51Speaker 1: the Jets came the closest. I would say, like there
- 27:54Speaker 1: was that one period with Rex Ryan where Sanchez, But
- 27:58Speaker 1: again that's a swing, right, you had Pennyton as a
- 28:00Speaker 1: first round pick early with herm Edwards and then you
- 28:02Speaker 1: had Sanchez was like the sixth. I just don't think
- 28:05Speaker 1: the Jets you would be right right now, right, great defense,
- 28:10Speaker 1: everything else, everything else is in place. I can I
- 28:13Speaker 1: can win but eleven or twelve games, But can I
- 28:16Speaker 1: get where I want? Yeah? The difference being that the
- 28:18Speaker 1: Jets occasionally gave Brady trouble and the Patriots defense has
- 28:21Speaker 1: yet to prove that they can really do that to
- 28:24Speaker 1: Josh Allen ever, right, but that's a cyborg. So yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 1: I mean, but I just wonder if you a point,
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know, like, do you pull the plug on a
- 28:31Speaker 1: guy you think is okay just because I know it's
- 28:33Speaker 1: it's bad? I think the answer. Yeah. I think Brady
- 28:36Speaker 1: in the Patriots forced these are the three teams into
- 28:39Speaker 1: making bad decisions over the last twenty years because of
- 28:42Speaker 1: the I do think it was panicking, but I'm not
- 28:44Speaker 1: sure they were bad decisions. That's that's a great thing, Fred,
- 28:47Speaker 1: you just said, And that's exactly how I used to
- 28:49Speaker 1: look at it. I looked at these teams as giving
- 28:51Speaker 1: up on coaches and quarterbacks and that they should have
- 28:53Speaker 1: stayed the course. And now that I'm on the flip
- 28:55Speaker 1: side of it, it's like, well, are we just going
- 28:57Speaker 1: to be hoping that maybe we squeak into that seventh
- 29:00Speaker 1: or sixth wildcard spot until Josh Allen decides to retire?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Like there's just part of me that doesn't think that
- 29:05Speaker 1: that that that's good enough, and that you'd rather I'd
- 29:07Speaker 1: rather spend the next ten years swinging for the fences
- 29:10Speaker 1: as much as possible every single position than just kind
- 29:13Speaker 1: of all right, well we got an okay quarterback and
- 29:15Speaker 1: he's okay, and we'll just trying to build it. And see,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I can make the argument either way. Duce, like you know,
- 29:20Speaker 1: constantly swinging for the fences. You could argue is making
- 29:24Speaker 1: bad decisions, is feeling this sense of complete urgency and panic,
- 29:29Speaker 1: like I gotta do something right? Oh my god, are
- 29:31Speaker 1: we gonna win? Now? You're gonna win now? You know?
- 29:34Speaker 1: But I think you do have to be alternative. Is
- 29:36Speaker 1: you resign yourself to the fact that you can't win,
- 29:39Speaker 1: or you or you resigned to the fact that I'm
- 29:41Speaker 1: gonna build and we're gonna stick and hope that the
- 29:44Speaker 1: guy is not going to be around for twenty five years.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I just I think you have to. I come back
- 29:49Speaker 1: to the coach is seventy one years old, so well
- 29:53Speaker 1: how much realistically and the way that it's looked a lot.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I always saw the COVID year out, so I would say,
- 29:59Speaker 1: the way it's looked a last two years realistically, where
- 30:02Speaker 1: are we at with his timeline? Because once he passes Shula,
- 30:07Speaker 1: is he done? I think that's sort of where we're headed.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And if that's the case, then you have a two
- 30:13Speaker 1: year window with Bill Belichick to compete for another Super Bowl.
- 30:17Speaker 1: And I'm telling you, I'm convinced that he thinks that
- 30:20Speaker 1: Mac can't do it for him. So if he can't
- 30:22Speaker 1: do it for him, then then you need to find
- 30:24Speaker 1: that instant upgrade. I think that, but I think that's inarguable.
- 30:29Speaker 1: But Bill thinks that he can't do it with that guy,
- 30:32Speaker 1: it's you move on. But you bring up a good point,
- 30:34Speaker 1: you know, because I don't even think about the seventy
- 30:36Speaker 1: one like to me because I'm old too, so I
- 30:38Speaker 1: don't want to like think about, you know, getting too
- 30:40Speaker 1: old for your job. But you would never yeah, yeah,
- 30:45Speaker 1: but but and then you bring up the Shula record,
- 30:48Speaker 1: right if if if that is important to him, then
- 30:52Speaker 1: he does want to win now he doesn't want to
- 30:54Speaker 1: like go on this rebuilding thing, and so you know,
- 30:58Speaker 1: then he would be on board till it's winking big. Right.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And let's say, for arguments, say he doesn't care about
- 31:03Speaker 1: the Sholay. I don't think he does. Okay, I think
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think that's the only thing he cares about. But
- 31:07Speaker 1: that's not even like not even worth arguing because who knows. Yeah,
- 31:10Speaker 1: but I mean, but it gets the motivation. But the
- 31:13Speaker 1: flip side of it is, what are you expecting out
- 31:15Speaker 1: of a seventy one year old coach eight more years?
- 31:18Speaker 1: He's going to coach two or three more years. Yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 1: that's what you're gonna get, right. But but again, if
- 31:23Speaker 1: that's true and the Shula record means a lot to him,
- 31:27Speaker 1: he's gonna want to make a big move. Yeah. And
- 31:30Speaker 1: this goes back to the spending thing for me. Yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 1: because so they're twenty seventh and spending, and I think
- 31:35Speaker 1: people are like, well, why are they always still up
- 31:38Speaker 1: against the cap? So teams that want to spend, they
- 31:43Speaker 1: manipulate the cap right by roster, you know, salary conversion,
- 31:47Speaker 1: like they did at the end of the Bradio Right.
- 31:49Speaker 1: So a team like New Orleans for example, was way
- 31:52Speaker 1: over the cap. But Loomis shelled out the money, right,
- 31:56Speaker 1: the owners shelled out the money to get them under
- 31:59Speaker 1: the cap so that they could continue to build the roster.
- 32:02Speaker 1: So I think he looks at it and he says,
- 32:06Speaker 1: if we had more real cash spending on the roster,
- 32:10Speaker 1: that I could go for broke in the last couple
- 32:13Speaker 1: of years of my career. And that's why I think
- 32:16Speaker 1: he brought it up. I don't think that he brought
- 32:18Speaker 1: it up to necessarily take this huge shot at mister Kraft.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I totally agree. I think he brought it up to say,
- 32:25Speaker 1: I'm seventy one years old. We are not very good
- 32:28Speaker 1: football team, and the only way that I see us
- 32:31Speaker 1: getting out of this is if we throw everything at
- 32:34Speaker 1: it that we possibly have, and that includes not just
- 32:37Speaker 1: cap dollars but real cash spending. But you know what
- 32:41Speaker 1: about the only way you really get out of it
- 32:43Speaker 1: is the draft that you have to draft. I think
- 32:46Speaker 1: from Robert perspective, right, I think from Robert's perspective, that's
- 32:50Speaker 1: exactly what it is, and that's why they don't spend
- 32:53Speaker 1: to the top of the league because he believes in
- 32:55Speaker 1: building through the draft. But you have a seventy one
- 32:57Speaker 1: year old coach would also argue that those kinds of
- 33:04Speaker 1: cute phrases always work when you have high end talent,
- 33:08Speaker 1: and they don't, like if mac Jones was the next
- 33:13Speaker 1: Tom Brady, then you could be content to continue to
- 33:16Speaker 1: build through the draft. Right Yeah, But I think Bill,
- 33:19Speaker 1: to Evan's point, has serious reservations not about him being Brady,
- 33:23Speaker 1: but about him being good enough to get me deep
- 33:26Speaker 1: into the playoffs period. Now, again, that doesn't mean like
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think Evan mapped it out perfectly, Like, it doesn't
- 33:33Speaker 1: mean Bill's right. But I think if you look, you know,
- 33:36Speaker 1: we always say, don't listen to really what he says,
- 33:38Speaker 1: look what he does, Like, if you just sort of
- 33:41Speaker 1: watch what's going on, I think it's pretty clear that
- 33:45Speaker 1: he's not sold. I don't think anybody is. Yeah, well,
- 33:49Speaker 1: if you called the game for sixteen weeks, Sarah have
- 33:53Speaker 1: thirteen weeks that MAC was held, if you called the
- 33:56Speaker 1: game like they did it on Sunday, they'd be in
- 33:57Speaker 1: the playoffs. And I get that they called the game
- 34:00Speaker 1: and some of those instances because their back was against
- 34:03Speaker 1: the wall because they had to win the game, But
- 34:06Speaker 1: so I will they would have been in the playoffs. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 1: I mean, I think, you know, we haven't really you know,
- 34:10Speaker 1: it's Tuesday's show. We haven't really even talked about the game.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I do think there's an element of, you know, where
- 34:18Speaker 1: I don't necessarily disagree with Bill, because I think early
- 34:21Speaker 1: in the year one of the things he kept fixating
- 34:23Speaker 1: on it And how many times during the course of
- 34:25Speaker 1: the middle portion did he reference the turnovers? Right? So yeah,
- 34:29Speaker 1: I can call the game like that, and we're going
- 34:34Speaker 1: to have to live with the fact that he might turn.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I would argue that I would rather have the mac
- 34:38Speaker 1: Jones that played Sunday than the mac Jones that played
- 34:40Speaker 1: the vast majority of the other thirteen games he played.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I agree with Evan. But the fact of the matter
- 34:45Speaker 1: is is it was three touchdowns and three interceptions again,
- 34:48Speaker 1: and two of the interceptions were a result of sort
- 34:52Speaker 1: of situational play. The one to Hunter Henry is a
- 34:55Speaker 1: throw he can't make. Mike, you and I have seen
- 34:57Speaker 1: that throw four thousand times the two years that we've
- 35:00Speaker 1: been watching training camp. Right, He's completed at like three
- 35:04Speaker 1: when it's been covered. Now sometimes his coverage breakdowns and
- 35:07Speaker 1: there's no one on him. Yeah, but he can't get
- 35:09Speaker 1: that ball into that window. And the the the last
- 35:12Speaker 1: one to Damian Harris, when they're sort of scrambling desperately,
- 35:15Speaker 1: trying one last, you know, chance to see if we
- 35:17Speaker 1: can get within the score. He gets some pressure and
- 35:19Speaker 1: the throws terrible and it results in a deflected pick.
- 35:22Speaker 1: And you might look at it say, well, it was
- 35:23Speaker 1: a deflected past. Doesn't It's not. No, it's a bad throw.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I don't know, like he can't come from behind him.
- 35:29Speaker 1: He does have trouble going down the middle. But like
- 35:31Speaker 1: that passed to Henry, it was it was just high
- 35:35Speaker 1: and it exactly because so it's a bad throw. That
- 35:43Speaker 1: what the fancy term for this is that he can't
- 35:46Speaker 1: throw off off platform right. So if he can't step
- 35:49Speaker 1: into the throw and really put his whole body behind
- 35:53Speaker 1: a throw like the one to Hunter Henry in the
- 35:54Speaker 1: end zone, he doesn't have the velocity to hit it
- 35:57Speaker 1: the window. So that why it's high, right, So he
- 36:01Speaker 1: gets low, it gets picked off by a linebacker. So
- 36:04Speaker 1: if he makes that, he made a very similar throw
- 36:08Speaker 1: against Cincinnati to Kendrick Bourne up the seam and against
- 36:13Speaker 1: two man and he throws it right over the head
- 36:15Speaker 1: of the linebacker in between the safeties clean pocket. He's
- 36:19Speaker 1: got a whole clean pocket to go ahead and step
- 36:21Speaker 1: into the throw. Now, when he tries to make that
- 36:23Speaker 1: throw to Hunter Henry on Sunday and there's people at
- 36:26Speaker 1: his feet and he can't step into the throw, he
- 36:28Speaker 1: doesn't have the velocity to throw it on the line
- 36:31Speaker 1: and get it into that win. The same kind of
- 36:32Speaker 1: throw that he made in Las Vegas in the preseason
- 36:36Speaker 1: where he kind of rolled a little to his right,
- 36:39Speaker 1: kind of look back to the left. No, no, no,
- 36:42Speaker 1: to use evans turn a little off platform. Armstrength just
- 36:47Speaker 1: isn't there. And I think that's what Bill might be
- 36:48Speaker 1: looking at. I think that Bill might just look at
- 36:51Speaker 1: it from a pure physical skill set. I don't think
- 36:54Speaker 1: that he and I've been saying this since day one.
- 36:57Speaker 1: What you see, I think is about what you're going
- 36:59Speaker 1: to get for him, because I don't think he has
- 37:01Speaker 1: a tool bag to fall back on. Justin Fields has
- 37:04Speaker 1: the ability. I don't know if it'll ever happened, but
- 37:07Speaker 1: he has the ability to learn how to you know,
- 37:10Speaker 1: be more sophisticated in the passing game, because that's something
- 37:14Speaker 1: you can learn, right. Yeah, I don't think that there's
- 37:18Speaker 1: a lot that mac Jones still needs to learn. I
- 37:21Speaker 1: think he is extremely smart and I don't know what
- 37:24Speaker 1: he has to fall back on. I think the sample
- 37:26Speaker 1: size too. And when you consider how many practices training
- 37:28Speaker 1: camp practices we've watched, like you would think at some
- 37:30Speaker 1: point you know that you would see some of those glimmers,
- 37:32Speaker 1: but I have not. But I it mean it'd be
- 37:35Speaker 1: great to hear Bill like sit down with us plugs
- 37:39Speaker 1: and him open up, like, you know, what if Bill
- 37:42Speaker 1: was the Brian Belichick version of giving you a compliment.
- 37:46Speaker 1: You know, Evan got a nice compliment from Brian Belichick
- 37:49Speaker 1: in the locker room. I say, what if Bill said,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you know, Evan, that's a really good point. I really
- 37:52Speaker 1: don't believe in Mac Jones. I just the part that
- 37:56Speaker 1: frustrates me. And because I know that everybody's gonna say,
- 37:59Speaker 1: I haven't he did a one eighty on Mac, I'm
- 38:02Speaker 1: just trying to tell you what I think. Bill is like,
- 38:03Speaker 1: I don't think you've done. I think you're telling us
- 38:06Speaker 1: what you think they have. And I the part that's
- 38:09Speaker 1: frustrating to me is that all of the little things
- 38:12Speaker 1: that they did from a play calling standpointer, just a
- 38:15Speaker 1: coordination standpoint in this game are all things that I've
- 38:19Speaker 1: been banging the table for them to do all year.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Luck right, they finally start to call some play action
- 38:24Speaker 1: on the touchdown to DeVante Parker the first touchdown, they
- 38:27Speaker 1: use that little motion with Marcus Jones to draw the coverage.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He doesn't even throw the ball to Marcus Jones, but
- 38:33Speaker 1: he looks at him and he holds the coverage that
- 38:35Speaker 1: direction just a little bit and that frees up the
- 38:38Speaker 1: crosser to DeVante Parker in the end zone. It was
- 38:40Speaker 1: a really good quarterbacking play. He used his eyes to
- 38:43Speaker 1: completely fool the entire defense was in a blender. All
- 38:46Speaker 1: it took was Marcus Jones running a little motion what's
- 38:49Speaker 1: called a boomerang motion when he comes in and then
- 38:51Speaker 1: goes back right out to the same side. All it took,
- 38:54Speaker 1: That's all it took, was a little bit of motion.
- 38:56Speaker 1: They they just called the game completely differently then they
- 39:00Speaker 1: had called pass games for MAC And now all of
- 39:02Speaker 1: a sudden, it looks better. And if that game had
- 39:06Speaker 1: happened against the Bills in week thirteen, we could have said, Okay,
- 39:11Speaker 1: let's play like that the rest of the year. Hopefully
- 39:13Speaker 1: we clean up some of the turnovers and make some
- 39:15Speaker 1: better decisions with the ball. But that was the best
- 39:18Speaker 1: the offense had looked all year. I get a question
- 39:20Speaker 1: for you. I mean, the big question is like, why
- 39:22Speaker 1: why in this game? Because it just it feels like,
- 39:26Speaker 1: and correct me if I'm wrong, but it just feels
- 39:28Speaker 1: like they kind of go from one thing to another
- 39:30Speaker 1: and there doesn't really feel like a whole sense of
- 39:32Speaker 1: purpose behind what they're doing in each game. It just
- 39:34Speaker 1: kind of and this week we did a couple of
- 39:36Speaker 1: our pos and that week we worked in the play. Actually,
- 39:39Speaker 1: like it doesn't really seem like it's focused on why,
- 39:41Speaker 1: like why against Buffalo? Was it? Are they opening things
- 39:43Speaker 1: up a little bit? As we talked about kind of
- 39:45Speaker 1: in the lead up to the game, like just let
- 39:46Speaker 1: them sling it? I mean, I think three touchdowns, three
- 39:48Speaker 1: interception might tell you that story, But is that what
- 39:51Speaker 1: I think? There was definitely an element of that where
- 39:53Speaker 1: they just wanted they had to go down swinging, and
- 39:56Speaker 1: they knew that in order to compete with Buffalo on
- 39:59Speaker 1: the scoreboard, they were gonna have to open up the
- 40:01Speaker 1: passing game a little bit. And I think the other
- 40:03Speaker 1: element of it is I think that they recognize some
- 40:08Speaker 1: of the things that they were good at later on
- 40:10Speaker 1: in the year. It is just a little bit too late,
- 40:12Speaker 1: And that's why I think that they're gonna look at
- 40:14Speaker 1: it and say, we got better, right, we coached it
- 40:17Speaker 1: better later in the year. Like they had a decent
- 40:20Speaker 1: game offensively, wasn't great offensively, certainly against Miami, but they
- 40:24Speaker 1: had the flashes against Miami, and then they scored three
- 40:27Speaker 1: touchdowns against the Bills and that's the way that I
- 40:30Speaker 1: feel that they're gonna see it. I just I don't know.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I don't know how you throw out the first sixteen
- 40:38Speaker 1: games like that and just look at this last game.
- 40:41Speaker 1: But looking at this last game, that was how I
- 40:44Speaker 1: wanted them to play offense all year. And I get
- 40:46Speaker 1: that the turnovers happened, and I think that some of it.
- 40:49Speaker 1: You know, look the Hunter Henry throws third and twenty
- 40:52Speaker 1: from the you know, the twenty two yard line or
- 40:54Speaker 1: something like that, and he's just trying to make a
- 40:56Speaker 1: play and it wasn't a throw that he can make,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and we all know that and all that type of stuff,
- 41:00Speaker 1: So you learn from it. The Nelson Agilore interception another
- 41:04Speaker 1: bad decision. Did Aglare just stop or did he run
- 41:08Speaker 1: into White and got suffrocated? He was in a straight jacket,
- 41:12Speaker 1: mister Davious White. It's a much better player than he is.
- 41:15Speaker 1: And Mac threw it. Anyways, Uh, the Damien Harris won,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you know, you're you're down, and you're you're trying to
- 41:20Speaker 1: make something happen, right, And that's like the point that
- 41:22Speaker 1: I was going to try to make about that whole
- 41:24Speaker 1: thing real quick is I think you can make an
- 41:26Speaker 1: argument that his two best games were Baltimore in this one,
- 41:29Speaker 1: and they both involved three interceptions and screaming. You know,
- 41:33Speaker 1: because he did make a lot of throws. I remember
- 41:35Speaker 1: back to that Buffalo game. Some of those throws to
- 41:37Speaker 1: Parker on the sideline fantastic throws. Yeah, I think the
- 41:40Speaker 1: Baltimore game, I don't think he can do that consistently.
- 41:43Speaker 1: If you if you ask him to do more than
- 41:45Speaker 1: the short stuff screen game and have him throw it
- 41:48Speaker 1: down field, I think you're running the risk. And I
- 41:51Speaker 1: think that's what they decided as a coaching staff after
- 41:55Speaker 1: he got hurt, was as long as we can get
- 41:59Speaker 1: him to protect the ball, we will always have a
- 42:00Speaker 1: chance to win the game. If he turns it over,
- 42:02Speaker 1: we'll have no chance. And I think that's what they decided,
- 42:05Speaker 1: and that's where the offense went. So, I mean, of
- 42:07Speaker 1: everything that that that didn't improve, that's one thing that
- 42:10Speaker 1: they did figure out until the end when it was
- 42:12Speaker 1: on the line, but right, and I think it was
- 42:14Speaker 1: my design. I think the plays also largely went away.
- 42:21Speaker 1: That's It's a good uh forty five minute therapy session there. Yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 1: So you know, let's talk about the game a little bit.
- 42:30Speaker 1: You know, we knew coming in that it was going
- 42:32Speaker 1: to be an emotional affair, and it certainly was. And
- 42:35Speaker 1: then the first play of the game they run it back.
- 42:38Speaker 1: That was my question for you guys that were in
- 42:40Speaker 1: the stadium, Like, I can't imagine what that place was
- 42:42Speaker 1: like when I mean, it was like something out of
- 42:44Speaker 1: a Disney movie that you know, it really was. It
- 42:48Speaker 1: was right out of a Disney movie. And the place
- 42:50Speaker 1: was going nuts. And I gotta give the Patriots credit
- 42:53Speaker 1: for like, you know, um, you know, you know, grace
- 42:57Speaker 1: under a grace under pressure, you know, shed and know,
- 43:00Speaker 1: you know, like the poise they showed poise, especially like
- 43:04Speaker 1: the three and out you come out, I mean you
- 43:06Speaker 1: give up that you go three and out. I mean
- 43:08Speaker 1: right there, you're up against it. You're staring down the
- 43:10Speaker 1: barrel of this Josh out fourteen nothing right there, right,
- 43:13Speaker 1: you know, to get a stop there, and you know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: and then for the offense to respond. I mean it
- 43:17Speaker 1: was I I was saying the word way, I was
- 43:19Speaker 1: worrying it when I was writing it was like, was
- 43:20Speaker 1: it one of their best efforts of the season. I
- 43:22Speaker 1: think it was one of their better efforts of the season.
- 43:24Speaker 1: But I think the fight that they showed, you know,
- 43:26Speaker 1: not just not just in the game but to the season.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Three touchdowns, yeah, I haven't had. They haven't had very
- 43:32Speaker 1: many games with three offensive touchdowns. I know that's an
- 43:34Speaker 1: average game for everybody else twenty points, but for them,
- 43:38Speaker 1: that's an explosion and usually always score too and maybe
- 43:41Speaker 1: one forcing the Bills to punt, like especially in the
- 43:45Speaker 1: first half. Times in the first half was like that
- 43:49Speaker 1: they forced three punts, and the Thursday night game, so
- 43:52Speaker 1: I mean, like the no punts is an anomalous okay
- 43:56Speaker 1: against the Bill so early in the game, I was
- 43:58Speaker 1: as pretty s The Devin the mccordy interception in the
- 44:01Speaker 1: red zone was a big play by the defense. That
- 44:03Speaker 1: was the one play where I said, okay that because
- 44:06Speaker 1: he does turn it over in the red zone a lot,
- 44:08Speaker 1: and if you're gonna beat him, you need to force
- 44:10Speaker 1: some turnovers. And they got that big one right before
- 44:13Speaker 1: the half, and I was encouraged by that good pass
- 44:16Speaker 1: rush man coverage, one of the few reps they played
- 44:20Speaker 1: in straight up man coverage, and they were able to
- 44:23Speaker 1: force the turnover. The one the John Brown touchdown bugged
- 44:27Speaker 1: me a lot watching it again, because that's not the
- 44:30Speaker 1: throw to Diggs was stupid. Okay, like, there's like three
- 44:33Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the league that can make that throw. The
- 44:36Speaker 1: one to John Brown, they just had poor awareness in zone.
- 44:40Speaker 1: They ran crossers from one side to the formation the other.
- 44:43Speaker 1: They kind of, you know, criss crossed them or over
- 44:45Speaker 1: the middle of the field, and just nobody picked up
- 44:48Speaker 1: John Brown coming across the field on the other side.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Devin mccordy and Miles Bryant or just didn't have their
- 44:54Speaker 1: eyes in the right places on those that play. PFF
- 44:57Speaker 1: put it on on Devin. I think he could say
- 44:59Speaker 1: that both of them were kind of ad fault for it,
- 45:02Speaker 1: and that was just poor awareness in zone coverage and
- 45:06Speaker 1: more of a coverage bust than I would say a
- 45:09Speaker 1: fantastic individual play. But the Dig's touchdown was well, that's
- 45:14Speaker 1: why I told him after the game, it was stupid.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I'm going to throw this out there at the risk
- 45:18Speaker 1: of Evan yelling, but but it could it could happen.
- 45:21Speaker 1: But I also, um, I was really disappointed with uch
- 45:25Speaker 1: on the John Brown touchdown. Yes, that's that's one of
- 45:28Speaker 1: the players. And after further review that I highlighted I'm
- 45:31Speaker 1: not having a big day. I'm not getting out. I
- 45:35Speaker 1: thought the pass rush, and Mike and I talked about
- 45:37Speaker 1: this in the post game. I thought the past rush.
- 45:39Speaker 1: It didn't like hound and harassed josh Allen all day.
- 45:42Speaker 1: But I thought they did a good job of not
- 45:44Speaker 1: allowing him to sort of script through holes and find
- 45:47Speaker 1: gaps occasional. You know it's going to happen sometimes, right, Um,
- 45:51Speaker 1: But on that play, I think they completely set josh
- 45:54Speaker 1: U j up. I think that was intentional. I don't
- 45:56Speaker 1: know for sure, I don't have the playbook, but I
- 45:58Speaker 1: think that that was designed to allow him to crash down,
- 46:01Speaker 1: to entice him to crash down with the idea of
- 46:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna roll here, get around him, because he's gonna
- 46:07Speaker 1: take himself right out of the play. The tight end
- 46:09Speaker 1: easily sealed him off once he crashed down, and he
- 46:12Speaker 1: had all day to make that throw. And again, other
- 46:15Speaker 1: teams have guys that are talented enough to make throws,
- 46:18Speaker 1: so like you have to cover the whole field, like
- 46:20Speaker 1: your whole that easy that throw was. It was a
- 46:26Speaker 1: good play, don't get me wrong, But like to your
- 46:28Speaker 1: point about UJ, the you gotta keep outside contained there
- 46:32Speaker 1: and push him into the sideline and make him decide
- 46:35Speaker 1: what he's gonna do. Make him make that throw under
- 46:37Speaker 1: to arrest, Like at least let the one on the
- 46:39Speaker 1: Thursday night game when he's on the sideline and mac
- 46:41Speaker 1: Wilson's hanging on him, he's got to make a tough play. Yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 1: this was just like I'm gonna go out by time
- 46:46Speaker 1: for my guy to get all day. He had all
- 46:48Speaker 1: day and he's making the throw. So the only option
- 46:50Speaker 1: that you have on that play is if you're gonna
- 46:54Speaker 1: let Uj pin his ears back, because that's what they did.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He had six hurries in the game. They were just
- 46:58Speaker 1: trying to let him get after the court back. If
- 47:00Speaker 1: you're gonna let Uj pin his ears back, then somebody
- 47:02Speaker 1: has to make them right. So Daniel Quality is on
- 47:05Speaker 1: that side of the line of scrimmage with josh Uja,
- 47:07Speaker 1: and when Jay jumps inside of the tight end, then
- 47:11Speaker 1: Equality has got to jump outside the tight end and
- 47:13Speaker 1: correct them right and close off the edge. And Equality
- 47:17Speaker 1: just kind of stood there and didn't do that. So
- 47:19Speaker 1: Jay might have just done that on his own right,
- 47:23Speaker 1: which which I think is part of the problem on
- 47:26Speaker 1: that play. And yeah, if you don't pin them into
- 47:29Speaker 1: the sideline and you don't make them throw the ball
- 47:31Speaker 1: either under the rest or make them throw it away
- 47:34Speaker 1: or make a decision. They did this great. Every time
- 47:36Speaker 1: they play Zack Wilson, they do a great job of
- 47:37Speaker 1: this because they know that the bootlegs are what he
- 47:39Speaker 1: wants to do to get outside and make throws down
- 47:41Speaker 1: the field. In this game, they try to do it
- 47:44Speaker 1: a couple of times. That shotgun roll out, like I
- 47:48Speaker 1: don't even know. It's not a bootleg, it's more like
- 47:50Speaker 1: a shotgun rollout. And they did it a couple of
- 47:52Speaker 1: times to try to catch the Patriots doing exactly what
- 47:55Speaker 1: Uja did on that play, and it burned them. Finally
- 47:58Speaker 1: they did. They covered it well for most of the
- 47:59Speaker 1: game until that play. Uh, you know, speaking of outside
- 48:02Speaker 1: contained on the first return, the kickoff return, all the
- 48:06Speaker 1: coveragers in the middle of the field, like no one
- 48:09Speaker 1: had the outside lanes, you know, and like they teach
- 48:11Speaker 1: you in high school, you know, stay in your lane
- 48:13Speaker 1: when you're playing, you know, on the special teams, and no,
- 48:18Speaker 1: like everybody was bunched up in the middle. The whole
- 48:21Speaker 1: outside was open. I mean two of them, they gave
- 48:24Speaker 1: up two of them, I like, and that's I think
- 48:26Speaker 1: why everyone I mean poor. I don't want to say poor,
- 48:28Speaker 1: but cam A courts getting at both barrels, you know.
- 48:31Speaker 1: But again, like to the point and nobody gets fired.
- 48:33Speaker 1: It just feels like you've been you've been put up
- 48:34Speaker 1: for reassignment. Like he's gonna end up like assistant cornerbacks
- 48:38Speaker 1: coach next year, you know. Like it just feels like
- 48:39Speaker 1: they're gonna shuffle at best. There's not gonna be any
- 48:42Speaker 1: like but do you think that, Like, listen, I'm not
- 48:44Speaker 1: a big fan. I'm not a jerk. Okay, I'm not
- 48:46Speaker 1: a big fan of calling for people's firings, but this
- 48:48Speaker 1: is big boy business. If I performed like that for
- 48:52Speaker 1: two years, I would you'd fire me, Yeah you would. Yeah, yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 1: it's going down. I feel like, just where's the accountability? Like,
- 49:00Speaker 1: I like, it's it's like Bill for would, for instance,
- 49:04Speaker 1: be like, oh, it's my fault, like I'm the one
- 49:06Speaker 1: doing this, I'm the one doing that. But yeah, no,
- 49:08Speaker 1: you're not like like you wouldn't make me like assistant
- 49:12Speaker 1: to somebody else. You would say you're not you're not
- 49:15Speaker 1: doing the job. You gotta go. Yeah, it's it's just
- 49:19Speaker 1: an odd season because you know it's still Bill's team.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I still I don't believe that Bill has stepped back
- 49:25Speaker 1: and let coaches do more than they usually do. And
- 49:27Speaker 1: we know from watching just training camp practice that even
- 49:30Speaker 1: when it's special team's portion of the practice, Bill's out
- 49:33Speaker 1: there watching special te the amount of time someone has
- 49:37Speaker 1: run back. And I know, I know, it's so weird,
- 49:40Speaker 1: it's like so like, has Bill lost his edge? Is
- 49:43Speaker 1: he spending? Patriots? You know, dead last? And DVOA and
- 49:47Speaker 1: special teams? The Patriots I know are dead last. It's
- 49:50Speaker 1: never been the case. And I'll be special team spending
- 49:54Speaker 1: right exactly. And here's the thing. You know, Cam Accords young,
- 49:58Speaker 1: Steve's young, Brian's young, you know, Billy Yates is young.
- 50:02Speaker 1: They might all know football and coaching, but are they
- 50:06Speaker 1: good teachers? You know who's teaching? You know, you know
- 50:10Speaker 1: when Ivan was here and Dante was here and you
- 50:13Speaker 1: had older coaches that teach the game. You know, coaching
- 50:17Speaker 1: is teaching. It's not just knowing the xs ands no,
- 50:20Speaker 1: no disrespect, Evan, but it's knowing how to teach the
- 50:24Speaker 1: X knows and the fundamentals and technique so that the
- 50:28Speaker 1: guys understand what you're saying. And Bill is a great teacher.
- 50:33Speaker 1: You know, I go back to lawyer Maloya in ninety
- 50:35Speaker 1: six saying, the guy's a genius. He makes it easy
- 50:38Speaker 1: for us, He makes it easy to understand. That's teaching.
- 50:41Speaker 1: You know, smart people use simple language. You know, smart
- 50:46Speaker 1: people use simple language. They don't, you know, they don't
- 50:49Speaker 1: use fancy language. Yeah, gasper so, but is like okay,
- 50:56Speaker 1: even if they are teaching it great, I'm sorry the
- 50:58Speaker 1: punting has been terrible. What I'm saying, I don't know
- 51:00Speaker 1: if skill, but but I don't know if they are
- 51:03Speaker 1: teaching it. That's what I mean, like, you know, like,
- 51:06Speaker 1: well teach it because the issues. Look, the punting hasn't
- 51:09Speaker 1: been good, but you can't just go out and and
- 51:12Speaker 1: and get you know, who's the gray guy? Like he
- 51:15Speaker 1: doesn't feel like they just don't grow on trees. So
- 51:19Speaker 1: or they're not just all of I shouldn't say that
- 51:22Speaker 1: they're just not just all available, right, Like they're not
- 51:24Speaker 1: just all available when when a guy probably I don't
- 51:28Speaker 1: when a guy punts thirty six yards on a line drive,
- 51:31Speaker 1: your coverage isn't going to be there, right, But I
- 51:32Speaker 1: don't want to be there. But I'm not blaming like
- 51:35Speaker 1: cam Accord for the actual specialists. Yeah, like that's a
- 51:38Speaker 1: skill that needs to be done. But running into the kicker, right,
- 51:42Speaker 1: I'm talking about running into the kicker. I'm talking about,
- 51:44Speaker 1: you know, not the proper personnel in the field allowing kickoff.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Three kickoff reacher, it was only six all year we
- 51:51Speaker 1: had the entire league. Three of them against the Patriots
- 51:53Speaker 1: and the third of them were in one game against
- 51:54Speaker 1: the Patriots. But it's undisciplined, right, Like because to your
- 51:58Speaker 1: point about the opening kickoff, everybody comes into the middle
- 52:01Speaker 1: of the field, So why are we not in our rushians,
- 52:03Speaker 1: Why are we running into punters when we're trying to
- 52:06Speaker 1: block a punt? Like, that's discipline, and that's teaching, that's coaching,
- 52:10Speaker 1: that's and that type of and that is a bigger
- 52:11Speaker 1: issue than special teams. To me, that was an issue
- 52:14Speaker 1: for the whole team this year with discipline, with pre
- 52:16Speaker 1: snap penalties, I mean everything. So it's like it's as
- 52:19Speaker 1: much as I want to kill, it's that was them.
- 52:22Speaker 1: So then we get back to the conversation that they're
- 52:24Speaker 1: going to have and Bill says, you've seen the coaches
- 52:27Speaker 1: leave here. Yeah, I've got a young staff you know
- 52:31Speaker 1: that needs to get better, but we also had a
- 52:33Speaker 1: brain drain. Yeah you know, oh man, I can't have
- 52:37Speaker 1: it with camera chord and I like cama chord and
- 52:39Speaker 1: I hate like doing that. Yeah, I bought a big fan.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Like I said, I don't like calling from people's jobs,
- 52:44Speaker 1: but I can't because it's two years. I don't understand
- 52:46Speaker 1: the media, like on Black Monday, like you know, just
- 52:50Speaker 1: the breathless you know this, you know, like the anticipation
- 52:53Speaker 1: of people getting fired and like almost like it's a
- 52:55Speaker 1: blood sport. Well it's not right. It's not like they're
- 52:58Speaker 1: rooting for it. It seems that was there, but they're
- 53:01Speaker 1: rooting for the news. I wouldn't say rooting for the news,
- 53:05Speaker 1: but I can make fun of the media like anybody
- 53:07Speaker 1: that I don't think. I just think that's just too
- 53:09Speaker 1: much glee in people getting fired. I wouldn't say rooting
- 53:14Speaker 1: for the news. I would just say more so like okay,
- 53:16Speaker 1: like it needs to happen. Rip the band aid off,
- 53:18Speaker 1: like it needs to happen. There's no sugarcoating how bad
- 53:22Speaker 1: things were. Give us things to write about. I know,
- 53:25Speaker 1: what's the example of glee. I don't absolutely think about
- 53:29Speaker 1: Kingsbury got fired. Yeah, so like, what's the Glee? What
- 53:33Speaker 1: likes coming? Everybody just tweeted it out, like where's the Glee? Exactly?
- 53:37Speaker 1: I said I wanted them to come here. I was
- 53:38Speaker 1: happy about it with a lot of people. Did you
- 53:41Speaker 1: put a Glee emoji on? But but you know, we
- 53:44Speaker 1: talked about that offensive coordinate got you gotta take it
- 53:48Speaker 1: if you if you bring in an established mind, whether
- 53:50Speaker 1: it's offense or defense, that person is going to want
- 53:54Speaker 1: to come in and do it his way, right, Is
- 53:57Speaker 1: billun Is that okay with Bill? Is that? Is it
- 53:59Speaker 1: okay to get an established offensive coordinator and just say, okay,
- 54:04Speaker 1: the offense is yours? It's Bill gonna do that? No,
- 54:06Speaker 1: But I think like I but I mean I I
- 54:08Speaker 1: I there's something alike about the idea of taking an
- 54:10Speaker 1: innovative mind and putting it through the Belichick machine and
- 54:13Speaker 1: you know, coming together and establishing something new. And you know,
- 54:16Speaker 1: maybe it's a way that Bill hadn't thought about something
- 54:18Speaker 1: in past, like I can get excited about not necessarily Oh,
- 54:21Speaker 1: someone's going to come in and be like I'm on
- 54:23Speaker 1: the offense. Everyone I get away from me. I'm doing it.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Whereas you know, I still think that Bill has a
- 54:27Speaker 1: lot to offer. You know, anybody who comes in here
- 54:30Speaker 1: as a coach, and you know, I think that that's
- 54:32Speaker 1: that's something we should be taking as much advantage of
- 54:34Speaker 1: while he's still here as you can is getting you know,
- 54:36Speaker 1: those elements in play. So a guy like Kingsbury, he's
- 54:39Speaker 1: owed money right at perfect another reason why it works?
- 54:42Speaker 1: No perfect? So did he fails? Like I don't know
- 54:45Speaker 1: the rules, but like if he comes to a team
- 54:47Speaker 1: as an OC, do the Cardinals have to keep paying he, Well,
- 54:52Speaker 1: they probably would have offset language. They probably wouldn't call
- 54:54Speaker 1: him the OC. No, just like just like Patricia and
- 54:58Speaker 1: Judge if but there has to be protections again that
- 55:00Speaker 1: like if you're the other team, like and then you'll
- 55:02Speaker 1: get mad when they call it the Patriots rule, Bret
- 55:04Speaker 1: b Limit. Did he get like sued for this con situation? Well,
- 55:07Speaker 1: these firings are buyouts, right, I mean they have to
- 55:09Speaker 1: buy out him, buy out the rest of his contracts.
- 55:11Speaker 1: So even if he's not getting paid like a weekly
- 55:15Speaker 1: salary by the Arizona Cardinals, they're going to have to
- 55:17Speaker 1: cut him a fat check at some point and say,
- 55:20Speaker 1: but it won't be as big of a fat check
- 55:22Speaker 1: if he's making say like two million a year to
- 55:24Speaker 1: be the Patriots offer coordinator, right, do you know what
- 55:26Speaker 1: I mean? Yep? Do you think that's why they won't
- 55:29Speaker 1: call him the offensive coordinator and to be making like
- 55:30Speaker 1: fifty cents an hour? I mean, do you think that
- 55:32Speaker 1: there is a person with the title offensive coordinator for
- 55:36Speaker 1: the New England Patriots in twenty twenty three? Yes, And
- 55:40Speaker 1: that's one of the things I want Robert Kraft to
- 55:42Speaker 1: put his fat I need to know the identity of
- 55:43Speaker 1: the person. Yeah, if it's Bill O'Brien, right, then yes,
- 55:46Speaker 1: But but I mean if it's not somebody, they just
- 55:49Speaker 1: don't see the purpose in hiding it, Like, what's the
- 55:51Speaker 1: big deal? Who cares? Well, it's just like, for example,
- 55:56Speaker 1: Gerard Mayo, Okay, he's not the defensive coordinator, so now
- 55:59Speaker 1: he can go interview for DC job and it's considered
- 56:04Speaker 1: you know, a promotion. Yeah, and upward and upward higher,
- 56:08Speaker 1: which is this is kind of the the back door
- 56:10Speaker 1: to this whole system of Yeah, nobody has titles, we
- 56:13Speaker 1: don't have to pay them. But also there's nothing preventing
- 56:16Speaker 1: them from leaving for those jobs. Even though technically you
- 56:18Speaker 1: can make an argument it's a lateral move. Yeah, but
- 56:20Speaker 1: technically on paper it's not a law, right because he's
- 56:22Speaker 1: only a linebackers coach, right yep. And then once they
- 56:26Speaker 1: get they get draft picked for that right. If a
- 56:29Speaker 1: minority coordinator, Oh right, I think you get Think now
- 56:33Speaker 1: with the new rules, I think you end up getting
- 56:34Speaker 1: like a third round. And then if he leaves, does
- 56:36Speaker 1: does Steve Belichick then take the title? Does he now?
- 56:40Speaker 1: Is he now the defensive coordinator? That's an interesting one
- 56:42Speaker 1: to me because it feels like, of course, like in
- 56:45Speaker 1: any other situation if this was I mean, I know
- 56:47Speaker 1: no other situation is like this with two guys doing
- 56:49Speaker 1: it like this, but it would just seem like it
- 56:52Speaker 1: solves part of the problem. Steve's been calling the plays.
- 56:54Speaker 1: We're beyond who's calling the plumber that like to who's
- 56:56Speaker 1: calling the plays? We know it, Patricia, you know, I
- 57:00Speaker 1: actually don't don't laugh. It could happen, which which I
- 57:03Speaker 1: mean is a whole other discussion about philosophically, like I
- 57:06Speaker 1: think Steve is more of the Flores, aggressive and and
- 57:09Speaker 1: you know Patricia was always the ben don't break. Just
- 57:13Speaker 1: some Patricia sprinkles on defense, so such as soft zone,
- 57:17Speaker 1: saw zone dropping Matthew dream down right, which is can
- 57:22Speaker 1: I can I make one little play? This is nothing
- 57:24Speaker 1: really to doing anything, just a statistical anomaly that kind
- 57:26Speaker 1: of just messed with my brain a little bit. Um.
- 57:29Speaker 1: They had a ton of sacks this year where they
- 57:30Speaker 1: third I think in the sacks fifty two sacks, Yet
- 57:33Speaker 1: they're like twenty first in the league on third down.
- 57:35Speaker 1: I just thought that was a weird kind of like
- 57:37Speaker 1: you've got a super high amount of sacks. You would
- 57:40Speaker 1: think usually third down you're coming for the quarterback. Just not.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I'd like to know, Like I don't know if there's
- 57:45Speaker 1: a stat but like what our third downs look like
- 57:48Speaker 1: on defense versus other teams, Like what's our average third
- 57:52Speaker 1: down yard? It's just a third and short that would
- 57:54Speaker 1: minimize your effective You always have to have a call
- 57:57Speaker 1: because if you're in third and long a lot, your
- 58:00Speaker 1: sacks should be high. Yeah, they do have fifty three sacks.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Is that's a high. That's a high total, especially for
- 58:05Speaker 1: the Patriots. But hey, just you'd think that they would
- 58:07Speaker 1: be I mean the top, but I mean football side.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I gotta look at it. But they ranked them by
- 58:10Speaker 1: like how are they in third and short? How are
- 58:11Speaker 1: they in third medium, how are they in third and long?
- 58:13Speaker 1: So they do break it down a little bit va
- 58:14Speaker 1: and it's also their season third down percentage defensively is
- 58:19Speaker 1: pretty good. But I agree with you guys, this is
- 58:22Speaker 1: where sometimes the little Excel spreadsheet doesn't tell you the
- 58:25Speaker 1: story and key moments. Against good offenses, they weren't good.
- 58:29Speaker 1: They were one of the worst teams in the league
- 58:31Speaker 1: in third and long, and Sunday was another example of that.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Um I think it's because they didn't have anybody that
- 58:35Speaker 1: could cover. I'm looking up to third downs on Sunday
- 58:41Speaker 1: was where are we seven for twelve? And that was
- 58:44Speaker 1: really seven for ten. They shred them on third down
- 58:46Speaker 1: because the last two third downs, the first one was
- 58:50Speaker 1: a bomb that gave Davis dropped in the end zone
- 58:52Speaker 1: and the second one that they stopped was a kneel
- 58:55Speaker 1: down at the end of the game. So they were
- 58:56Speaker 1: really seven for ten on third downs in that game.
- 58:59Speaker 1: They were air brutal against the Bills on third down. Defensively,
- 59:02Speaker 1: they can't get them off the field. I just when
- 59:05Speaker 1: it comes to third down. I think the biggest issue
- 59:08Speaker 1: was covering, and they like to run man on third down,
- 59:11Speaker 1: and if you don't have the horses to run man
- 59:12Speaker 1: on third down, then you're gonna get beat. And they
- 59:14Speaker 1: tried to get out of man a little bit in
- 59:17Speaker 1: this game. And then he hits Diggs on the out
- 59:18Speaker 1: and up and cover three because it's a man on
- 59:20Speaker 1: the outside. Anyway, to Evan's point, that whole scenario came about,
- 59:25Speaker 1: they had a second down pass that Dawson Knox made
- 59:27Speaker 1: a really nice one handed catching, got either the first
- 59:30Speaker 1: down or inches. Shy called back for one of the
- 59:33Speaker 1: most bogus chop block penalties that you'll ever see. So
- 59:36Speaker 1: now it's like second and twenty five. They get like
- 59:38Speaker 1: a thirteen yard path they made. It must have been
- 59:40Speaker 1: second in twenty three because I think they got thirteen
- 59:43Speaker 1: made a third and ten, and that's what it's so like.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I'm sorry. If you're a good defense and you get
- 59:48Speaker 1: that penalty in a five point game, you gotta get
- 59:52Speaker 1: off the field. Gotta get off the field. Can make
- 59:54Speaker 1: one point before the break, I'm gonna eat up. Just
- 59:58Speaker 1: how did they lose to the worst team in the
- 59:59Speaker 1: leagu get home thirty three to fourteen? Like I just
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: like in retrospect, but in the in the grand scheme
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: of things, that should have been just one of those games,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: like every team has. I agree that you have been
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: one of those games, just in it's one of those
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: though in retrospect the game they shouldn't have lost. They
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: shouldn't have lost Vegas. That's when if they had won,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: they would have been eight and six in the driver's seat.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: That's the one that got away. It's that Vegas game.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I agree. I'm over the Bears game. I know what
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: your point is. Just say, you get to the season,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: you look back and you're like, wait, they ended up
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: being the worst. That was the only road game they
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: won all year, and they won here thirty three to fourteen,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: and they were like, you know, unstoppable on third down?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Is I mean, it's just it's food. I would have
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: broke early earlier. All right, we'll take a break, we'll
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: come back. A lot of you are hanging on the phone.

- 1:02:01Speaker 1: you are. It is full Who does the kickoff honors
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: with nine. He behinds the former cold deployed to our
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: white standing on the gold line down. The kick is
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: aloft left to right and it's short to the four.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Had a Jaila hashwarts hind straight ahead of the twenty
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: yard line. He bounces it right outside of the thirty.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: He's changed by mac Pilson to the forty five. Fifty
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: fucking pursuit for the forty five women away running down
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: the right side. He is gone, come he in Jones.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: What a start from Buffalo. This crowd says it all.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: You cannot hear yourself right now in Orchard Park. Amazing
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: six yards. It's a short kick and lands at the five.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: He hits that first wave that finds his way to
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: the Patriots sideline and it's a foot race between he
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: and two defenders and there's no tunes. They're catching him.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Jones waits onless staff and he takes it. The Bills
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: will rush for Mac is pressure. He rolls left. He's
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: all old deck I sacked inside the twenties and Grim
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Brusseau was there as the first Buffalo defender to bring
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: down Jones. Better get to number ten to get him
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: on the bench and settle his tail down. You're rushing four.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: He has to slide left because Trent Brown gets beat.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: But then he pills back and then all of a sudden,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: it's almost a knockout shot from the other side. Play fake.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: He looks left, he throws back of the end zone
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: for Myers. Did you call me reaches up to make
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: the graph? It was he shoved out a bounce or
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: did he come in into play? The officials will confer
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: without a signal yet touchdown Patriots. I'm shocked they ruled it.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Me to me from up here, look like he at
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: one foot down. It's a play fake up the week side.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I don't think you got any cap Bob, he called
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: me reaching up right. It makes a tremendous grab with
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: the life footown. Oh god, he's down. Indeed, now that
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: we get a better angle hold along this sideline, he
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: does appear he's got the ball in his hands that
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: his right foot comes down and then his left toes
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: as well. Hey, if the Raiders were in, you're in.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: That's all I know. Based on the way things these
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: things go for review. The ruling on the field does
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: stay and is called it's a touchdown. A sensational grab
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: for Myers, his sixth touchdown catch of the season and
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: the third in his many weeks. It's an unreal catch,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: it really is. I thought in real time he was
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: out ball on the playfag He drops back, he looked love,

- 1:04:57Speaker 1: coming forever. Can't have these guy to hold their coverage
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: for good. Four cop counting. There's still pressure on Allen.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: He flat puts it, he resets, he resets again, and
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: it's like shooting fish in the barrel. Alan dropping back
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: for Matt Rush again. Barnward under pressure here, that is
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: stepped up and he sat back quality when you bring
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: him down at the forty six, that's the way you dollarhood,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: little twist, little booth, hand off the Steavens and what's
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: he left? Bake Hall across the forty, cuts left the
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: forty five and steam rolls to the defender there tackle

- 1:05:36Speaker 1: the right call. It's worth eighteen yards on McCarry, and
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: it's worth more than a thousand yards on the season
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: for Romandie Stevens. And he motions Marcus Jones into the
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: back room. Matt takes me to have dropped back, looks right,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: looks down the middle, stepped up, lobs the past part

- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Jones came the play today, boy and pointing the ever
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: snapped to Alan, Patriots rushing five. Alan stands in. He
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: skinn as he throws. It's a one good picked up
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: by mccorty to five ms, back left to the gun,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: step into the twenty, stumbles out of the head to
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: the thirty and the party takes it to the thirty
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: four yard line, tackled there by Brown. And what did
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: we talk about with people at your feet? The Patriots
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: pushed the middle of the pocket. It's far more and
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: it's wise and they collapse Allen's legs and this ball
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: pops straight up in the air and McCarty's air. That
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: is a crucial turnover for the Bills. They had points
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: before the half and then we gonna get some ball
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: to come up and start that second half. That takes
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the snap, he's looking left, back shoulder throw and that
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: passes intersected. He threw it for Agalore and he led
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: it to the sideline for Trudavious wife. Buffalo takes over
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and it's two and attack. Find it picks you off.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: You gotta fight for it, Aggalore. It's a little pig
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: kill him killer, because that's a great rise you had
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: going right there. Now. Second down for Buffalo and they
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: give a single tiry. He runs it to the right.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: He's spotted up. He dutched back to the inside of
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Out follows out and as the scrumming sues, the officials,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: led by Claymark and the referee god to wave their
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: way through the crowd. But it got Patriot's habit. Thank you,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: he got it. That's a big one. Bud Folk delivers
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the kickoff left to right. It gets to the end
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: zone two yards out from the left side. It's Hines
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: across the twenty to the thirty, hides his head. Any
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: breaks your way to the far side fifty to the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: forty to the thirty to the twenty nine heat Hides
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: has done it again, Pie stepping into the end zone. Touchdown, Buffalo.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Well, the
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: first return and they open a kickoff of the game
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: was ninety six. You're not gonna beat anybody giving them
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: four teen points on the silver platter. This one, this
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: is pathetic. At least one hundred and one was snapped.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Alany A faked to Cookie runs White outside of Boche.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Alan's goning to go longa keep down the right side
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: and openly see her Brown tiny cats touchdown, Buffalo, end
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: que there's your brain. John Brown elevated off the practice squad,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: went to where he had to mouth criant Ooja had
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: the pressure. You couldn't get to Allen and as the
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: quarterback always does, he steps out of pressure, rolls right.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Receivers breakdown. They sees in trouble and Brown just takes
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: off and there's no one near him. Jones's back hen
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: as he throws a long ball up the Parker makes
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: the catch down in the end zone. Touchdown, Patriots. We
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: just said you gotta get a quick score here, and
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: they went right back to the bautepe Parker. He tried
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: him with Aggalore, but now it's Parker with the chump
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: ball to help the left sideline, and I think it's
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: old Tredavious White. They line up four players to the
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: right Will Kenner and the tide I left. Jones is
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: under center, springing in motion to the leftist Marcus Jones,
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: and Matt John throws it right a low cost at
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: the feet of Romandie Stevenson. It a period incomplete before
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: if it did make the catch, they was stopped at
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: the wad. Either way, the Patriot has failed to convert
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: and we go to a timeout. Was eleven thirty seven
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: to go in them fourth Patriots will rush forth, Alan
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: dropped back. Sure it comes to quality. Alan hit as
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: he throws a key ball down the left side and
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: open digs him the bark touchdown, Buffalo, you deserve that one.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: The love foot a pump by Pilardia is high, it
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: is short. They will come down to the bounce across
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: the forty for the role inside the thirty folly hit
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: one of the Bills. Block did a scramble for the
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: loose balls. Patriots balls beat and the Patriots say they
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: have it and they do what the Deil store Matthew
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Sledder was engaged with Taiwan Jones blocking on the plane.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: There is a flag on the other side of the field.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: It's later ruling on the gage with the Juffalo number
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: twenty five coast the ball. We had a legal recovery
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: by New England during the kick illegal block in the
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: back Buffalo that penalties decline. It will be first found
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: New England. So there is still life of the Patriots
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: in this game. Lable drops back. He stands in throw
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: us to the ends up for Henry off his left
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: hand and intercepted by Mulano. Mulano rising to runner right side.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Time to the fifteen to the twenty Falano twenty five thirty.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Lano is chucked out from behind by Taekwon Thirton. Matt
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: takes the staff. He's pressure, he steps up. He throws
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: it to Damianare's Babbo. The ball's intercepted. Tavian Edmans comes
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: away with it and let me tackle it. At the
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: thirty another tip ball picked off by Buffalo came it
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: competed to that in the NFL. All went on today.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I think got the biggest thing for the week. I'm
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: glad tomorrow hamlet is feeling better, but the league goes on.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Playoffs start next week. You gotta figure out what you
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: gotta do to get better in the off season. Just
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: reality is your eight nine, that's what you are all
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: right back here on Patriots Unfiltered. There's the mash up
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: for the final, the final mash up for the final game. Uh. Boys,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: it was tough. It was tough, you know. But I'm glad,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: you know, and I know fans are gonna kill me
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: for this, but I'm glad that having not won it,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: we didn't get in the playoffs, we didn't back. Um.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: That's actually a sentiment shared by the entirety of the
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: pre impostgame show. You know, yeah, I just let's you know,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: as Tamara said, let's pull that band aid off. Let's
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: not you know, all watching the red zone and we
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: were all, I think, we're all this is not I
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: don't want to speak, don't speak for me. I'll say
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I was rooting for Miami and Pittsburgh because I didn't
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: want to go to the playoffs at eight and nine.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I think that my my I think my co host
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: felt but I'm not going to sit and just because
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: of the like, let's just say it was eight nine,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: but our last five games we won and we were
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: playing better yeats, Yes, exactly, it would be different. But
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: the way we were playing, we weren't going to do anything.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: No no, I mean, especially not to have to go
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: back to Buffalo to play them again. Right, So so
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: let's let's, you know, finalize this season as it should be,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: and let's move on. Let's move on to twenty twenty
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: three and get that band aid pulled off and let's go.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Do we know if if Tua is a gonna play
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: or he has any chances On Thursday, Mike, I heard
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: they're working with him and he might. He's not clear
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: to do any football activities, That's what McDaniel said yesterday,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: which means he can't even practice, can't do and Lamar
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: anything on Lamar. We're waiting on Lamar. I'd be surprised
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: to be the one of the play. That's what stinks.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: And I'm with Paul. I mean, I didn't want to
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: back in the only My only pause, which I said
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: to Evan I think on Friday, was just that the
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Damar Hamlin situation kind of made this game into something else,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: and if they had to back in I would a man.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't mean like, how excited are you
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: to watch Skyler Thompson going to Buffalo. I mean, it's
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: the same thing as the Patriots would have been. But
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I'm generally I'm with you, guys. I would just rather
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: have it. Oh yeah, that Miami's going. I just you know,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: let them go and didn't take the bufolf. Now, on
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: the other hand, if we had pulled off the winning Buffalo,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I'd be like, all right, nobody wants to play us.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: But that's entirely different. And we said that before the game.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: You know, if you go up to Buffalo and you
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: find a way to play like a real game, yeah,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: you know, and you and you beat them with no asterisks.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Absolutely at nine and eight, let's go. Yeah, and you'd
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: be going to Cincinnati. Probably not probably you would be
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: going to Cincinnati. So I would actually like that matchup
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: better than playing Buffalo. Again, I don't think it's worth
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: arguing because I think it's fifty you know, flip flip
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: flip of the coin. But I don't like the idea
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: of I think I think Cincinnati has their road is
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: ridiculous now because they're gonna have to more than likely
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: win in Buffalo and Kansas City. Yeah, Cincinnati had the
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: best celebrations all weekend, but Cincinnati has that that combination
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: of a really talented team that feels like it was wrong. Yeah,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: and I don't like right now, if I were Buffalo
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: and I were Kansas City, I would be rooting for
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: them to be upset by somebody so I didn't have
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: to see them. I don't think it's gonna happen. But
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: you know, they don't have the pedigree that Mahomes has obviously,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: but they went to Kansas City without the pedigree last year,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: and one I don't see why they couldn't do it again.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: And like they just have that like f you mentality
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: right now, like oh, really, we have to have a
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: coin flip, you know, even though we would have beaten
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: them and still had a better record, and we would
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: have had to have a coin flip. Like I think
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: they feel like they bent over backwards to try to
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: give a little glimpse of hope to Buffalo but didn't
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: do that to Cincinnati. Yeah, all right, five five, five
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: hundred is the a ticket hut line everybody's been holding on.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: I appreciate that. We'll start with Patty and agawam, what's up? Patty? Hey, everyone,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: what's up? A couple opinions out there, and Fred at
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the end, I have a question for you specifically, and
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I'll keep them quick. When I was so just real
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: quickly on Max Jones this season. You know, I've been
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: a Mac guy and I'm not going to rehash what
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: I said prior to the season, but one of the
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: things I said I wanted to see him do was
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: pull out a few last second or you know, two
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: minutes drives to either tire or win a game. And Paul,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: You're right, you haven't done it. And I've been waiting
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: for it for two years for it to happen. And
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: we saw Kenny Pickett do it against Baltimore. Say what
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: you want against what they did in Houston last year.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: That Baltimore team's a legit team. It's a lintic defense
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: and they have a legit head coach on the other side. Now,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: going on to Bill Belichick, Fred, if if I'm the owner,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I'll say, hey, I'll tell you what I'll send the money,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: But guess what you're going to bring in some offensive coaches.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: You're not running it back. And I didn't see the
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: the interview yesterday, but I read the transcript and more
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: than what the what I gathered from that, more than
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: the whole Max stuff was it sounded like he wants
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: to run it back, and I hope to god it
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: doesn't happen. Yeah, I think I could go either way there,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Um from that interview. You know, so I don't know
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: what what Bill really thinks. You know, I don't. I
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: don't either. Yeah, but just real quick, Freddy, Yeah, I'm
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: not living in denial. I'm just asking you simply yes
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: or no question. Can we just pretend like we are
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: still in the playoffs until the AFTY Championship game because
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I'm not ready to give up my fee you three
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: times a week and that's good guys, all right, thanks,
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Well you're gonna have to because we're down a two
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: show tomorrow offseason schedule Tuesday and Thursday. If that's all right,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I'll just do I do this all every year at
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: this time of year. I am outvoted. I would love
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: to be on the air tomorrow doing the show as normal.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: But Fred says, can I leave him wanting a little
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: bit more? Well, also, there's other things that we you know,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: we're very very busy right now. You know, we're getting ready.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: You know, we turned the page very quickly. Here the
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: off season is Patty's first point. Though I think that's
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: because I've been a Matt guy all year. I think
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: this game made me so frustrated because I was like,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: they did put it in his hands, and they had
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: some chances to make this game interesting and they still
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: couldn't do that. What really frustrated me, that's that possession
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: after the punt hit the guy in the foot, Like
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: so you went three and out, you know, which is like,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: here we go again. Fourth quarter, you know, can't get
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: it done, and then you get a reprieve and you
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: take over the thirty five yard line and you get
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: one penalty and that was it. You know, you couldn't score,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: you know it. It's third and whatever, third and twenty.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: By the way, by the way, loved the second and
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: twenty draw. I'm not sure if you if you liked
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: that one, and I did, Like, yeah, I loved it.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I like, great, great call. Nothing like setting up third
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: and nineteen on a second and twenty draw. Which one
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: was this the one of Damien Harris? They chasing twelve
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: points with five minutes later on the twenty three yard line.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: They were a freaking draw so they did it. The
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: funny thing was, and I think this has happened a
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: lot with Patricia, is that once it works, once he
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: goes back to it again and again and again. And
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: so they they posted on Parker's second touchdown. Right on
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: that drive, they got into first and twenty and they
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: called a drawer and more Stevenson where he actually fumbled
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: at the end of the of the run. But it
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: was a positive run. It was it was great ball security.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Everybody tells me that it was a good run. No,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I was. I know the player you're talking about. And
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: they caught him in a rotation where the linebacker was
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: dropping off the middle of the field and dropping into
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: a zone, and they caught him in the exact right
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: defense to call that play, kind of like the Cleveland
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: one right where they caught him in the right defense.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: But then he goes back to it in the exact
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: same situation later in the game, and this time Buffalo
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: is like, well, you're gonna do it again, like like
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: now we're ready for it. Like the other part of
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: it is those other like the one in Cleveland and
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: the one earlier in the game. It's not like if
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: it went for one yard, the game is pretty much over.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: You you have to score like this, five minutes left,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: I'm down twelve. I need a touchdown, and I took
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: a play away like you're not going to score on
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: second and twenty from the twenty three. Like they needed
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: to score and score as quickly as they can take shots.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I think that's one of the interesting things for me
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: going into this season. We talked about all the different
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: things that go into being an offensive coordinator, and I
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: think we mentioned like, you know, sequencing plays and knowing
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: how to build off of things, and I think this
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: was a really interesting year just to see how not
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: to do it, or a team that doesn't really do
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: it and doesn't really have any connection between play to
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: play from game to game. You know it just I
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: keep going back to their just calling plays. Never really
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: felt like they were I don't ahead of the chains,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: not one of them, but you know, they were never
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: ahead of the game where we got them real and
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: right now they got no answers and We're gonna continue
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: to press the envelope with other stuff. Instead, they would
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: just like I'll go back to work. Last time. It
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: doesn't work this time. Um, I think those are the
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: things that you can't really Oh, it's going to get
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: better next year. How much better is it going to
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: get next year? Are they going to be back to
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: middle of the league and offense, because that's not going
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: to get you back into the playoffs, like they need
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: to make a jump. And that's why the bill run
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: it back thing. All Right, incrementally, you're going to be
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: better next year. I don't think that that's a good
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: enough answer. Well if well, what if you run it
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: back and you spend a lot of money and it
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: all comes together? Right, And if they run it back
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and they spend a lot of money and it looks better,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: it's because they have better players, right, It's not because
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: they have better coaches. It just they have better players. Okay,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: if they run it back like the Chicken and the
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Egg thing, you know, I'll be on record, I'll say,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: if they run it back and it includes mac Jones,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: it won't work. And I'm not saying that because of
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: mac Jones's ability. I'm saying he will not buy into
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: it anymore than he did this year, and that's part
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: of the problem. Right. But no one wants to really
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I agree with Do you get him to like if
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: you trade for DeAndre Hopkins? Right, and Hopkins says to him,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: you know what, Mac, these guys are a bunch of buffoons.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: But you and I are just going to do it
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: together ourselves. Yeah, you sold me. Yeah that's that's a
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: selling point, right, all right, Chris with A T, I
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: A N. What's up? Christian? Hey everybody? Um, you know,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: I'll be quick. It's so now the coach doesn't like
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: the quarterback. Um. So in addition to that, your special
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: team stink, Your offense stinks. Your defense hasn't been able
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: to stop anybody since you want a Super Bowl anybody,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Any offense that has been good, Any offense that's good
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: scores points. It beats them. So it's not just one thing.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: And you don't just need an offensive coordinator. You need
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: a quarterbacks coach, You need an offensive line coach. Start over,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: see you later. It's been great. The best to have
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: her do it. We'll see you with the red jacket
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: and we'll see you in the yellow jacket. Wipe the
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: slake clean, start over, Tamaras we rip the bandaid off,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: it fixed a minute of time. So as a fan.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Are you okay reachless? I mean like it's been done
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: before where a new head coach comes in and wins
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: right away, but likely no. Are you ready for you know,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: another three years of building or worse than being around
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: five three first time head coaches go to the playoffs
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: this year? Yeah? I mean I'm ready to be. I
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: have faith in the ownerships. This take owned the team.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: They fired Bill Parcells, pete down with Bill Belichick. I
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: trust them to get a good guy whoa good point,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: come down on good point. There you going? There you go,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Although they didn't hire Bill Parcells. But all right, thanks Christian, Um,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: you don't have to ruin it. Um. Wait, I would
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: you want to comment on Paul's question to me about
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: ripping the mandaid off? There? Well comments you were ready.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I'm trying to put out what I want to say
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: because per Paul's note on a whiteboard of who's going
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: to win this who rule this year? When he said
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Astrick I work here, this is my I think Patriots
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: for the masterisk R work here. I'm trying to think
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: about what I want to say. Aftric I work here.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: I think that say if hypothetically Craft and Bill met
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: and he said, look, I think there needs to be changes,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: and but was like, I don't want to make any changes.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I think everything's great. Then I would not be surprised
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: if Robert Craft was like, well, all right, then band
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: aid off. But but or I'm hoping that maybe they
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: just ripped the band aid off on trying to keep
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: everything the same and just yeah, get an offensive coordinator,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: name defensive coordinator, go spend some money. Yeah, I think
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: that's what we all, I think most of us hope for.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: There are some like Christian that everybody goes, Yeah, everybody
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: goes clean slate, start from scratch. There is that faction
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: of the fan base that, you know, despite him being
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: the greatest ever, it's time. It's time to move on
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: now if everything remains the same, including the outcome of
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: next season, Yes, ripped the bandit off. Sorry, Yeah, I
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: don't think that. The offensive coach had commented, all they
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: need this, to need that. So the coordinator and the
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: quarterbacks coach of the same person. Okay, if you bring
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: in Cliff kingsburyer Bill O'Brien to coordinate the offense, they're
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: coaching the quarterbacks, right, Okay, And yeah, maybe they need
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: like a Jerry Schsplinsky or jet Fish or whatever to
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: do some of the little Evan Rostein sure to do
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: some of the little things that. Oh and you know
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Kingsberry is in a game plan meeting with Bill and
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: they need to just kind of go through film and
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: he needs somebody to um. You know, Jetfish used to
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: write the Q cards, the little QUE cards um with
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Mac Jones like those things. Okay, fine, like you need
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: somebody to do that type of stuff. But if you're
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: bringing in somebody like Bill O'Brien to coordinate the offense,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: he's not handing the quarterback over to somebody else to
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: do the coaching, right like he You know, Josh and
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Mac Jones were locked at the hip all the time
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: like that. Josh was with Mac twenty four seven. And
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: that's how it's going to be with the new guy
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: coming in as well, and their offensive line coaches that
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: you can hire that can that can do the job. Okay,
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: it's not gonna be Dante's Karnakia, but they can find
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: an offensive line coach. So I don't think that that's
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: that outlandish to think that that's this golden goose that
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: they can't acquire. Todd's in North Carolina, Hey, Todd, So
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I just listened to everything you guys have said. And
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: if this seems to be coming down to where's Bill
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: is Bill? I did the point in his career where
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: he's still doing what's best for the team or is
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: he doing what's the best for Bill? Right? Did he
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: have to Shool's record is if that's important to him?
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: Is he just trying to patch things together for the
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: next couple of years, in which case, you know what
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: Christian with the tia n Yeah, he's got it, he's
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: got a goal. Well. But on the other hand, though Todd, like,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: if that's all he cares about is getting that record.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: I don't believe that. But if that's all he cares
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: about and he's going to do anything to do that,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: that means winning and fans should want that. Yeah, how
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: many wins does he need? I don't know. Eighteen eighteen,
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: so he can go basically nine and eight, nine and eight.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: We missed the playoffs for here's boom, I'm done, I
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: got Chula, goodbye, okay, or you can go four and thirteen.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I mean, like, why, why is trying to win games
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: counterproductive to what you want to do? I think it's
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Fred's points. If you're just trying to win x amount, No, no, no,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: he's not trying to win x many games as possible.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Walk into the press conference after I got it, kind
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: of get what you're saying, but I do. Look, is
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: Bill just patching holes like he did with the defense
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: when we had the boogey Man? He's like, oh, I
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: got all these old guys and they pay you off.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Like is he just trying to get fined enough to
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: get to get by and kind of ride it out,
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: or is he trying to build a team for the future,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: which might mean he doesn't get Shula's record. Is he
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: able to do that? Is he able to say, hey,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I don't need Chula's record. I can walk away from
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: this team leaving the good position and they will get
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: a Super Bowl or two one time, but you know,
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: retire if they don't make improvements, if they just they're
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: not even going to be eight nine next year, They'll
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: they'll get worse. You don't stay the same in the NFL.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: You either get worse you get better. You know. It's
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: so like, if if he does what you're saying, Todd,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: he'll probably not win eight games lat next year. You know,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: there's no guarantee that if you do everything the same,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: you're gonna be five hundred or you know, you can't
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: be anymore, but you know what I mean. And then
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: one other quick point. You're talking about a coach having
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: to be a teacher, and so he's teaching in the
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: seventies or sixties because he put Brendon School are probably
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: one of our best guys for special teams on the
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: bench and had him ride the bench at the start
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: of the year. You put one of our best receivers
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: born on the bench. Her school school is hurt going on.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: You can't do these kind of things with the team
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: that age might be a different the born one's a
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: little different. Yeah, because there was no particular reason why.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: But can we also like thanks to Kendrick Bourne played
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: like crap for the last two games of the season,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: all right, So like I look, I like Kendrick Borne.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: I want him to play more too. He was great
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: again Cincinnati. But I'm like Paul is just you know
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Jerry Rice, right, Like if you just play him? Oh wait,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: but can you blame someone who barely gets any game reps?
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: I'm not blaming Kendrick Borne, Like necessarily, but the film
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: is the film, Okay, Anybody like why he didn't get
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: many game reps to start because because he's false starting
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: and because he's dropping where he's going. Hountless mistakes right
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: during training campaign, you know, whether they were on field
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: or off, like besides the fact that everything this team
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: does like they do nothing right, and it's like that guy.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, it's just like that guy is has from
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: start to finish he has had. He's a very good receiver.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: He's a skilled receiver. Okay, and if you just did
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: it on pure talent, he's probably the best that they have.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: And I understand why people are frustrated about their best
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: talent wise receiver not seeing the field more. But the
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: proof is right there. It's it's third and six in
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: a key spot last week and he falls starts and
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: now that coaching, no, he all, he's got to do
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: his way for the ball. I mean, I mean, why
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: is why where? Why is there so much lack of
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: discipline all around? Like I mean the whole offensive one.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Trent Brown has a million of those, So like I know,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: the guy's leading the way I mean, and Heno leads
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: the way I mean per snap per penalty. That can't
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: be a guy in the NFL that has more penalties
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: per snap on the field. Thank Kendrick Bourne. He in
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: the same game that everybody's praising him for having a
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: great game, he gets Johnny Smith put in concussion protocol
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: because he runs the wrong route. He runs the wrong route,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: he runs right into Johnny Smith and Johnny Smith gets
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: pancaked between two defenders because of it. And then in
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: this game they're coming down to the wire, they're trailing,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: they need to score points. Mac throws him a ball
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: in the flat that hits him in the hands and
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: bounces off that that was the play before the second
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: and twenty draw. It was my point with Kendrick Bourne
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: never watched one second of film, is everybody sits here
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: and says that there's no reason why he's not playing more,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: that there's no evidence whatsoever that can possibly explain why
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: this guy wasn't playing more when there's evidence all over
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: the place as to why he didn't play more this year.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: And I would I would just argue, And that's a
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: great rant of love that, but I would just argue,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: like I think Kendrick Boyne has talent, I'm not saying
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: he doesn't belong in the league. But if you honestly
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: think the difference between wins and losses is Kendrick Bourne, Like,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about like adding DeAndre Hopkins, right
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: or someone of that caliber. This is not We're not
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: talking about adding Kendrick Bourne, you know in the offseason.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: I mean he's he's a good, complimentary receiver. I think
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: he would have helped, But I think there were reasons.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: I don't understand why, if everything he did was so agreedious,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: why he's still on the team. Like Wes Welker, who
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: caught a million passes a year, was punished for a
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: whole quarter of a playoff game. And this guy is
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: not a pimple on West Welker's ass, and he's still
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: on the team. He's out there like the next game
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: after openly being insubordinate in the locker room, telling everybody
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: they know all at plays, we gotta change things up
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: on third down. By the way, mcconky is a slot receiver. Yeah,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: from last night, it's quick mcconky. Mccorgo. He's quick, great,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Keep chasing the untalented bums and keep seeing that without breath.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I remember Paul calling West Welker pocket change. I was
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: wrong about that, and you might be wrong about McConkey too.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Not if mac Jones is the quarterback, I won't be
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: whether it's a slot hunter Renfro and you can keep
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: all those guys. If you don't have a guy like Brady,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: it ain't gonna work. Watch some short areas. I love.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: They don't have to be a seventh round like try
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: hard guy. I just I like we got some long speed,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: but I just I want some quickness when it's third
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: and four. They need to have somebody that can get loose,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: you can shake loose. I don't care, especially with this quarterbacks.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I don't need the I don't need a four two five.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: I want a three cone guy in the middle that
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: candest people in clac I was thinking about this the
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: other day. When was it the Raiders? Same thing? Who
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: did they play at the end of the year Chiefs
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Raiders on that that lovely primetime game and Renfro kept
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: falling down. Okay, but he's weird, but in all stay
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: in all serious though, If like they took Renferro and
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: put him in the offense with Brady, oh my god,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: that's different. And that's why I and that was my miscalculation.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: That's why I was wrong in the Fred argument. He
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: took a rocket shot at me just now, Fred, And
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: he's one hundred percent right because I said that. I
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: said that about Welker before he ever played a game
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: for the Patriots, that he was pocket change. And I
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: was wrong because I didn't take into consideration that's the
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: perfect guy for I'm not didn't taken into But I
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: think that's what Dante's talking about. I think when he
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: says banky, he's not thinking Jamar Chase. He's thinking about
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: that guy that's always open when I need him. Yeah,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: And that was Welker, that was Edelman, And you know
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: it's a good slot guy that's quick and short. Like
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: you said, they need the other things. They need the
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: other things too, for absolutely. But I think when he's
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: thinking that that short guy that's reliable, James White's the
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: Julian Edelman's Yes, Like they have so much trouble throwing
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: the ball out of the backfield to running backs, Like
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: they can't throw the ball to a running back to
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: save their life. And it's because they don't have And
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I asked Brady about Edelman when he came back from
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: this Edelman came back from the suspension. I was like,
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: what what makes throwing to Edelman like so great for you?
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Like why do you love throwing to him? And he
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: said that he gets open early in the route, so
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: you know instantly that he's open, and you don't have
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: to sit there and pat the baby and pat the
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: baby wait for him to run. It just is he's there.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: He's open, He's at the exact spot I expect him
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: to be, and I can get the ball out of
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: my hands, and you know, time's like I can't run
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: with the football like I do. You don't want the
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: ball in my hands right like you want the ball
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: and Julian's hands. And he was so good at just
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: getting open initially off the line of scrimmage quickly in
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: the routestam where the quarterback just felt so careful comfortable
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: throwing him the football. They don't have that guy. I
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: think if you had the other guys, myers would be
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: close enough. He's not as quick as those guys. Yeah,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: I understand what I've been saying, and Evan's one thousand
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: percent right, But I could take a guy with eighty
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: five catches that gets open reasonably quickly on the short
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: stuff and they just don't have anything else to go,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: you know. I'll speak a little Evan here. I think
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: there's tape this year of Myers getting open quicker in
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: his routes, you know, being able to you know, really
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: get that. I think he's off balance, and then I
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: think he's very dependable too. And if Mac gets rid
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: of the ball quickly, then he's gonna have a guy
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: open quick, you know soon. Especially recently, he was running
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: some of those like whip return routes and he was
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: open and that his eyes weren't in the right place
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: on some of those plays recently, and Kobe's like throwing
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: up his hands, Like I saw the tape. I was
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: interested about your about your Walker thing, just because west
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Walker was such a little guy. Sometimes the football looks
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: so big in his art. I can imagine being out
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: there at mini camp and seeing this guy and be
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: like what is this? Like this this is what they
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: traded for m Yeah, you know that's saying like this
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: is like he had a couple of catches against us
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: for Miami. Like yeah, I was like, oh, come on,
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: staying up late at night thinking about did you see
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: that guy's funny what he passes about the football. It
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: looks like rugby. It's too big on That's exactly rugby.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I know, I know. I remember just watching him go
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: back for punts and he's like just the eyes coming
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: out of his head. Not in the rachet away, but
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: like in the say it all the time and the
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: good way. I was wrong, Yeah, yeah, it was wrong,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: but caught like a hundred. He got to camp though,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: was he just was he just like he was making
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: all kinds of place in the very first game. It's
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: like the first touchdown of that two. I mean that
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: O seven training camp was a revelation hit between him
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: and Moss. You know, Moss came in and everybody, nobody
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: caught the bomb and he just ran off the field
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: and we never saw you know they Oakland was calling
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: him a dog and all that. He comes in here
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: and training get him and walk. I mean, like Paul said,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: the ball never hit the ground. It was unbelievable. He
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: was getting cut supposedly. I away remember we were talking
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: like yeah something because he pulled a hamstring. He caught
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: it right off the field, caught a bomb in training
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: camp and basically went right off the field. We never
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: saw him the rest of camp, no preseason, nothing. Next
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: time he's d I wonder if they're gonna cut him. Yeah,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: and then you know he's the Jets happen and doing
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: this thing at the launching it like seven yards down
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: field to a spot and you just know that he's
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: down there because you didn't see it on TV, that
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: he's open. But when he would load up, I would
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: just be like a Moss's wide open. But even then
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: I was so I was so wrong about Welker Mike that,
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: so that you know, when we had this argument and Fred,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: you know rightly, you know, makes fun of me like
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: I would do to him. Not you know, wasn't not
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: a cheap shot. Um. The next year was the year
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: that Brady got hurt, right, thanks, And I still, I mean,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: I thought Welker was great. I mean obviously you know seven,
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: but I was like, we really see, No, I was
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: stubborn as you, I mean, stopped me if you'd heard
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: this one, pauls a little stubborn. I was like, Brady
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: Brady did that? Yeah, yeah, And Andy said, who do
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: you think will be more affected by Brady's absence? Moss
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: or Welker, and I said, Welker, muzzle still do his thing.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: He I think he was off by one catch. I
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: think it was something like one hundred and fifty, you know,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: one hundred and twelve one year, one hundred and thirteen
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: the next door something like that. Like again, I couldn't
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: have been more wrong. You look up Welker's numbers there. Yeah,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: they really are people forget if that's the argument I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: used in Fred will tell you. I used the argument
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: for Welker's candidacy in the Hall of Fame meeting last year,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: and everybody nominates people, then people talk about it. I
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: did this. I wasn't as good as that. He didn't
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: win this, and I was like, well, here's what you
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: need to know about Welker. When Brady missed the whole
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: year and Matt Castle, a seventh round guy who didn't
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: even play in college, he caught the same amount of
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: passes with him without Brady, you know, and somehow he's
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: still This goes back to and we're gonna have plenty
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: of time talk to doc, draft and all this kind
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: of stuff though, but this goes back to like wide
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: receiver evaluation to me as well, because Hunter Renfro was
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: like a clone of all those you don't he used
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: to sign his autograph future Patriot Hunter rend right like Edelman,
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: Danny Am and Dola Hunter like he was a clone,
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: and they passed on him time and time and time again.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: And I Brady might still be here if if they
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: didn't pass on some of these guys, right, like, if
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: they had agree with that, And it's just like, come on,
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: like that was said. That was so easy. Brady was here,
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: he would have thrown the ball to him three hundred
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: times a year. He'd he would have thrown every place.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Let's go to Mark and ball to Harry like similarly
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: unpleasing to the eye Hunter and hold on Mark, okay,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: go ahead, Mark, Sorry okay? Um uh. Last year, at
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: this time of year, I spoke to Paul actually on
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: this show about Gerard Mayo and viewing him as an
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: asset and seeing how we could go forward and maximize
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: both for the team and for him. And you know,
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: the weak part of Mayo's resume is that he doesn't
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: have any on field game management experience. And as far
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: as the Patriots are concerned, um, you know, if he leaves,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: they're not not gonna get anything for him if he
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: goes for a coordinator's position. So my point is, I
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: think that they should make him assistant head coach, um
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: and uh in In that way, he's priming himself for
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: two years down the road to maybe take over for
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: Bill or you know, if if he does get scooped
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: up and go someplace else, you're going to get compensation
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: for him as much as like a third round draft
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: pick in twenty twenty three and and also twenty twenty four.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: So um, just reapproaching this. I know, Paul, I love Mayo.
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: I love Mayo, But how do you think Bill would
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: like that? Why wouldn't this is the guy who's going
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: to replace me Bill, It's not it's not affecting. Anybody
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: gets to have his son go to defensive coordinator and
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Mayo becomes assistant head coach and you know, uh if
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: he if he leaves, if he gets scooped up again,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: to get compensation for him, and if not, you know,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: you're prepping him for your you know, successor three years
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: down the road. Yeah, I don't think Bill would like
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: to have his successor being prepped for him. While I don't,
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: it's a good it's a good theory, like, I didn't
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: think of that that they could kind of reconfigure it
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: to set that situation up. I might be at and
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: I like Gerard Mayo a lot. I think he's a
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: good coach and obviously a great person and all that
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: kind of stuff. But I'm not like that. I don't know.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not. The sky is not fallowing to me.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: If Gerard Mayo walks out the building and takes a
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: job someplace else. And by the way, I do think
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: that they would get compensation for him as a minority
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: higher not if it's if no no. I think that
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: if he's a defensive coordinator, wouldn't be considered a lateral
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: move correct, right, it's a promotion. I think that that
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: gets them compensation. I'm trying to look it up. Um,
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think you've got to be
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: a head coach if you want to get drafted compensation.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: It's not like I think they know, you know what.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: I think it's GM or head coach. I think GM
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: is right, but it's not. It's I don't think so.
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: I don't anyways. I just so I think a name
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: that I don't know how market's good call I don't
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: know how they divvy up game planning your boys at
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: Pat's pulpits say they would get compensation. It just says
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: they would receive extra draft capital. Under the change to
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: the league so called Rooney Rule that was voted into
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: action during the twenty twenty season, the Patriots would be
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: entitled to two compensatory third round draft picks in case
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Mayo or any other minority assistant left to become. Oh,
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry, head coach, You're right, Fred's rights, head coach.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: I just head coach. I never worry about the defense
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: side of the ball. But here, but here's the other thing.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: Like everyone's you know, I'll preface it by saying the
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: same thing. Love Garrode, great guy, and everyone says he's
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: this brilliant coach, like sold them. Why aren't we doing
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: more with him? Like why are we? But but at
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: the same time, people people call all in and say
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: we can't get a good quarterback off the field. But
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: then Gerardmeo is this like big time asset, right, So
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: I but ultimately what it comes down to is with
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: somebody called a wasted asset. Right, Ultimately, what it comes
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: down to for me is that as long as Bill
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: is here to coach the defense, and I don't have
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: any worry about who's the assistance. They won't be they
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: won't ever be a train wreck on defense as long
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: as Bill is here. That's right. They might be average,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: but they won't be a mess. Benson Pittsfield, Hey Ben, Hey,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: Hey Ben. So Joe curious. I was following like all
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: the fires and stuff yesterday. I mean, I know the
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: Patriots have a history of being not too open to
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: the public about changes within the organization, but like, when
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: do you think we could expect like an announcement about,
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: you know, some change, whether as a fire or change
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: of coaches or something like that. Mini camp. Well, if
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: history has any I do think there's a chance. I
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: got a feeling it'll be sooner. That'll be sooner this year.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: But I'm going to show them to many camp. Bill
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: O'Brien's just going to be out there, like, oh, think
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: about it. Think about it? Is that Bill O'Brien were
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: We were having our department meeting today and we were
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: talking about tent Pole, and one of the tent Pole
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: events coming up is the owners meeting, and always, you know,
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: the owner and the coach speaks. There's no way Robert
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Kraft's gonna speak without things having been done by then. Yeah,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I feel like I just wonder if
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: if I know, like a lot of the media has
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: been saying something about how old Doe Judge back to
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: special teams and Nott butchers to the defense. I'm not
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: saying that's what I necessarily want, But would we like
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: hear about that if you know, they said, Okay, you're
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: not on offense anymore, you're gonna do something else. Would
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: we hear about that when that happens, or is that
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: just gonna be like a under the rug change and
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: then maybe one day we'll figure it out. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: historically you're right, that's the way it would be. But
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: if they bring in a Bill O'Brien, or they bring
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: in a Cliff Kingsbury, if they know he's going to
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: be if they bring in a new offensive coordinator, we're
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: going to know it. Right, It's like Joe Judge last year.
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: I mean, just Joe Judge coming back and right we
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: didn't know, Yeah, we didn't know what he was doing,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: but they knew they hired him. They're not hiring Bill O'Brien.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: To be the assistant offensive line coach. Hell, we didn't
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: know that I've been fears retired until we saw the
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: NFL films thing the other day. They never even announced
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: that we should run Eric. We got, we got Eric's
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: peace ready to go on. I know, still waiting could
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: be the long could take the longest after a guy
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: worked here. Rough, Yeah, I had enough of us. I
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: also feel like I think you're just hung up money camp.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: That was bed. I hope that they make them before that, though,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: because you don't want to miss out on some potential
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: guys that you could hire. Like no, no, I'm not
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: saying that they're not going to hire them. They're just
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: we're just not gonna know until we'll be on our
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: third head coach. And like you think the court he's
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: going to retire, does leave, though, I definitely wouldn't rule
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: out Matt Patricia going back over to defense. I wouldn't either.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: That's what I said earlier. You know, I think Mayo
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: leaving is almost a fair to complete. Now he's you know,
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: we should have talked about this earlier, But yesterday there
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: was a report that the Browns have requested permission to
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: speak to him for their vacant defense record in Flores,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: which I feel like both wants to be a DC
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: or did he want to be the head coach. I
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: think he wants to be a head coach, but I
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: don't think he's going to get that until he's a
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: d C. Right, Yeah, it's good for him to go
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: to somewhere else though, you know, it just gets the
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: only Bill is the only one who doesn't care about
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: that kind of experience before. The only coach that's the
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: only head coach in the league right now that never
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: called plays before he became a head coach is Serenian
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: in Philly. The only coach Sanni Sirianni. I always say
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: his name wrong. He's the only coach in the league
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: that never called plays on one side of the ball
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: before he got the gig. So Gerard Mayo is not
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: going to get a head coaching job until he calls
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: a defense, because that's you have to have an expertise, right,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Like you have to have something that like this is
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: my side of the ball, like this is what I did,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: had done it well right, right? Right? I mean the
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: other coaching thing that I thought was fascinating. I don't
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: know if you guys caught this yesterday. But the Titans
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: cleaned house. Yeah, OC hired fired four guys, you know,
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: and evidently yeah, Todd Dowling, Yeah he's a nut. He's
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: the one that had the dui coming home from Green
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Bay and they never won again. They lost their last
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: seven games after that. Right wow. Um, But evidently that's
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: how I mean. I would say, Rabel, should you know,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: get that house on the market, because this is it.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: He's gonna get one more year. I mean, he had
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: probably had to, you know, get rid of those guys
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: in order to save his own jobs. Bill Parcels would say,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: don't buy any green bananas. Absolutely, let's get to some
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: of the emails. Boy, this show went fast. Huh, well,
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: wrap up. Some might say, we have plenty of content
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: for three days a week. Uh, Tony writes, and I
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: think it's called I think I called it back in September.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: I wish I were wrong. I applaud the player's effort.
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I think, as I thought prior to the season, this
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: team is bereft of talent, and no amount of goat
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: coaching can change that. How many starters would be the
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: top five teams in each conference replace their own players
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: with three, maybe four at most. This is a three
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: to four year rebuild. Well, it's three years in, so
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: next year should be big. I think he means from now. No,
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: I know, yeah, but that doesn't That's not how rebuilds work.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Don't guarantee like when the same coaching is there. Like
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: the rebuild doesn't get a timetable reset. She keeps going. Now,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: if they hired you know whatever, Bill decided to retire
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: and they had a new guy, No, that I'd be
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: willing to say. It's the clock stots again, Joe writes
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: in I he's in Michigan. I agree with Paul. We
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: can reshuffle without blowing up everything. Must replace Patricia with
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: dedicating and competent oc as for draft, get best players
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: available for positions of need, which are kicking game, offensive line,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: defensive back, and receivers in that order. Well, I don't
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: know about that kicking game or yeah, sleep on free safety. No,
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: I was writing about that in the mailback today. I
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: think I like to get the best players available, but
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: I don't even care what position, because I think literally
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: you could get any position and it would help you. Right,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: with the exception of very very hard guard. Don't take
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: another guard. I'm already preparing myself for it. I mean,
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: everything else you could pretty much make a case for.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I mean, indeed, how do you feel about Pierce Strong
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: and Kevin Harris going in the next year? Do you
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: think that either one of those guys is ready? But
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: I'm fine not drafting or running back, but just I
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: mean they probably Yeah. I'm not gonna say, oh my god,
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: what a wasted pick unless it's like you know, I
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: was looking at some consensus big boards yesterday and that
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: running back from Texas is like fourteenth, and I was
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: just like, Spot, you're going to take a running back?
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Is that Bjean Roberts? Yeah, yeah, Uzo and Houston. It's
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: sad the season came to an end so soon, but honestly,
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I'm glad it did because we were probably not going
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: to do much in the playoffs and we have a
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: better chance at a good draft pick, assuming we actually
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: picked the best player that fits our needs. Fourteen du
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: train down, Yeah, just our greatest needs. I missed the
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: years when Patriots unfiltered and PFW would have three shows
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: a week deep into January. Hopefully we get back to
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: our playoff winning way soon. I was never bored with
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: twelve and four did Yeah. I added that, by the way,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: it seems like there are a lot of people that
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: right into the show from Houston. It feels good to
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: be part of a decently sized Patriots community here. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: We spent a lot of time in Houston, A couple
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: of Super Bowls. Yeah. Some good memories down there, bad Field,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: great mall where we stay, some mall down there, Yeah,
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: Westminster Street. I don't remember the street name, but that's
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: press freda um first class problem. Fred remembering the names
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: of the streets of the hotels that we stay at.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: Flesh while Eric in Philly with that restaurant where remember
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: that the one that doesn't exist? Gerald and grimms of
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: Victory Cafe. Patriots fan from back of the day when
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: he had to change TV stations with a dial growing
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: up in Montreal. I chose the Patriots as my team
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: because I love the uniforms. Grogan to Morgan forever. I
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: heard at the other day that Judge and Patricia did
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: not get official titles because of their contracts with the
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: Giants and Lions. If they had coordinator above titles, then
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: the teams would not have to pay their contracts. Um.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: But that just seems like it's part of it. Yeah,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: it's it's a fact. Fred, Yeah, his offset language and
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: you're you're able, Like if he's a coordinator, you can't
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: monkey around with the guy's salary. You can't pay the
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: guy like one hundred grand to be the offensive coordinator, right,
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: but you can to be the offensive line coach. But
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: but what about making him do the job and not
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: paying him. Well that's why, like Brett Bielamo had to
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: go to court. Yeah, Arkansas sued him, Like is are
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: people gonna argue that Patricia wasn't the OC you know?
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: And I think if the Giants wanted to make a
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: stink about it, I think in the NFL it's kind
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: of known. Like that's the difference. Like in college. Arkansas said, No,
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: I mean, you're you're an NFL positional coach. Don't tell
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: me you're making nothing right, you know. But I think
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: like the man is really gonna you know, they want
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: to do the same thing. Probably, Yeah, they probably do
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: the same kind of stuff. Um, let's see David and Bethlehem.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Uh uh, you guys are insightful, very insightful and insightful
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: where two different words, right, opinion? Coach must admit privately
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: that he misevaluated coaching talent. Besides, Patricia Brown is a
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: bad wide receiver coach, Judges bombed, and Mac has to
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: not just accept bad coaching, but execute that junk. If
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: Belichick doesn't admit this change, I think he will be
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: forced to retire. O'Brien will take a head coach job
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: here O Troy Brown. We talked about another guy we
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: all love, but do we know if he's a good
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: wide receiver coach? I have no idea. His position group stunk. Yeah,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: just calling a spade and spade. I mean, they certainly
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: didn't in our opinion, in my opinion, live up to
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: their potential. Do you think people be satisfied if Roberts
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: if there's a message comes out that they had they
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: had the meeting and Bill agreed and there's going to
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: be some changes. No, but they don't get the pound
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: of flash of Bill coming out and admitting he was wrong.
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: I think that's what people want, you know, what should
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: be happier with as a fan that they met and
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: they Robert said there has to be changes, and Bill
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: said no, and Robert said, then we have to cut ties.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: Thank you for twenty three years of excellence, but we
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: have to cut ties or Bill Roberts says, I think
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: we need to make changes, and Bill says I don't. Okay,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Then all right, carry on. What would you think the
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: fans would be happier with? They want the former? I
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: think I think you're right. Yeah, at this point, I
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: think you're right. Yeah. I think if if running it
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: back or making changes or getting rid of Bill are
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: the two options. Running it back or getting rid of Bill,
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I think people would rather, you know, I know Robert
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: like he's worried about his own legacy. Does he want
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: to be the guy that got rid of Bill Belichick?
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: But I think in this case people would be like, wow,
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: that took a lot of balls to do what he
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: did and it may not work, but he had to
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: do what he thought he was right for the team.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: It's it's a hard one, but I do I also wonder,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: like how many years or enough years to say, I
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: do remember what you did, but you haven't done that anymore?
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: Like and I know that like the greats like Chuck Noll,
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Tom Landry, they got they got a lot of years
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: before that, you know, before they got the way that
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: these last three years have looked, was Don Shula's whole
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: second half of his career like that. We can make
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: an argument on Don Shula too that he just never
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: was that anyway. That's why I used I'm not saying
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: that Chuck and Tom Landry. I'm not saying it's that
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: he's like that better, like not a good coach or whatever.
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: I'm saying it because like a lot of these great
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: coaches just kind of sputter out like at five hundred
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: and that that just sort of how it ends. It's
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: a tough job, right, I mean, yeah, I meant the
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: whole army of people that you have to get to
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: play physically and mentally, it's a tough job. I think
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: the hard thing about this year too, was that there
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: were just a lot of set pieces of terrible plays
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: and endings. I mean, with the Raiders being the clear
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: cut one, but you know, even the one against Cincinnati
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: of just thirty second and special teams, such things that
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: we've come to believe that are completely opposite of what
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: you came to expect out of this football team. And
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: you're not even saying I expect wins, but I expect,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: you know, this gonna be a well coached team that's
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: gonna like not kill themselves. Point like, it's not that
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: they could be absurdity out Like everybody looked at it.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: When you know they went up to Buffalo and they
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: play and it's the first game after you know the
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: emotions of the Hamlin situation, and it's a storybook that
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: Buffalo returns to the opening kick. But look at it
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: from the other side. Your team is going up to
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: Buffalo and they need to play their absolute best game
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: in three years to win in Buffalo to secure a
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: playoff spot. You allowed the opening kickoff of that game
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: to get taken back with a touchdown, right, Like, how
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: did you win it? You let it happen again? Ye twice? Yeah,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: But like you're supposed to be like here we go.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: I know, we gotta you know, we gotta do that,
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: and you allow the opening kick for a touchdown And
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: how many and it wasn't as extreme, but how many
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: games could you tie that into it? They needed this
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: game three and out on the first position on the line.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: That would never happen. You just never. You have to
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: take your shots at that game like the King want
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: them though you want them, would love it, I would
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: love it. You'd be so mean to Evan. I thought
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: that was a really great throw and he shut up.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: Oh I love them, Okay, took it into my veins.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely. Oh I don't want the back to back
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: league MVP, Like what is wrong with you? People know?
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: Absolutely not? Um, but I want to get my thought
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: in before we close. The Vikings game was another one
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: where I'm like, okay, they I thought they were finally
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: going to pull it off and then you let a
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: touchdown to get returned on the last I mean, it's
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: just and this the last few years when this started coming,
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: was the best football after Thanksgiving? Nope? No, they sure
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: don't know. And somebody all these cracks. Have we got
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: to go back to like seventeen for that? Yeah? Their
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: record since you know, Thanksgiving over the last few years
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: is a business. Its almost like the Miami miracle kind
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: of kicked it off before they got one last super
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: Bowl and it was like five down the stretch. This year,
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: you the four of you are no on Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: I'm only kidding. I would be. I'm not a no
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: one rational side of Aaron Rodgers. I just don't like him.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: With Bill as a coach, he'd finally win. Yeah, I think,
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: I mean he wins plenty. He's a journey Yes, I
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: wouldn't say his personality is why I'm like, no, he's yeah,
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: my rational side of me. But but if he if
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: he came here to play with Bill, you know that, Okay,
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: he's bought in because he knows what he's gonna be getting.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: If he plays for Bills and bills you think there's
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: a chance that Bill might not be back, and you
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: still think of Bill in those terms. I don't know
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: how those two things can co exist. I honestly think
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: if they had Aaron Rodgers next year, they might want
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: a super Bowl. That's insane. I think so. I think
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: so highly of Bill Ball that I think he's going
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: to agree with Robert that changes need to be made.
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: If it's Aaron Rodgers coming in with like he's gonna
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: need six other things that you that you think that
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: they might, then that's you're not gonna just his team
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: with Aaron Rodgers isn't any better than Green Bay with
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: Aaron rod No, but you're not gonna just run it
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: back like you're gonna get better. You know you're gonna
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: try at least to get better. We're gonna bring Higgins.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to do something. And I mean he's
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: just working on my side of this year. He's gonna
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: want his wide receiver one like he's gonna want one Adams.
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: I do think Aaron Rodgers. Quite the pair, Quite the pair.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: We're going together? No no, no, no no. Yeah, I'd
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: have to be something, so I are. And I was
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: thinking about, yeah, that's nice. No over there, Maybe maybe
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: it's Nathaniel hackn You imagine he brings an out, he
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: brings an art and ride and says, oh and Matt
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Patris is going to be your your quarterback coach. So
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: he saw my own quarterback coach, is what you're telling me?
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: That's nope. I saw that guy who Detroit for a
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: couple of years. Put him in. He would need media training,
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: like every single day, every Stacey would have a heart attack.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: That's not a good person. That he made against Miami
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: to Marcedes Lewis was yes, the one that he dropped, Yes,
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: sign me up for that. Oh, he's he's the most
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: talented thrower. In the end, I said that the last show.
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: I think he has the best skills that I've seen.
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Yea as a thrower. Yeah, you hate him and you
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: don't want him here. I don't. I didn't say I
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: don't want him here. Got him out of the corner. Now,
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: the rational side of me is different, But you can't
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: argue that you sound like the greatest skill set that
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: we've seen does not win anough. I mean, they've had
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: the best team in the NFC countless times, owing to
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: watch him lose pat lambeau Field to inferior opponents, most
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: recently last year against San Francisco where they put all
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: of what ten points on the board, Right, it's not
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: like they lose thirty. Well, he has lost some high
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: scoring games too, But all right, that's gonna be in
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back on Thursday
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: with our second offseason show, Catch twenty two, ten thirty
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: on Thursday. Okay, it's okay on video, all right, and
