Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Mama, hold Uncle Monty 'cause he
- 0:14ain't going to like this. Oh girl, what's your least
- 0:17favorite scary? Movie, The podcast where we talk
- 0:19about the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of
- 0:22her favorite. And the least favorite scary
- 0:24movies? Because we believe every horror
- 0:25movie rifely has its fan base. Even if we don't always get.
- 0:28It my name's Travis. And Jesse, and we're going back
- 0:31to Texas. Yeah, yeah, Texas.
- 0:34So we are talking about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the
- 0:38beginning. But before that, do we have poll
- 0:41results? We sure do.
- 0:43So last week we talked about Pearl, another Texas movie
- 0:47indeed. And we just wanted to ask
- 0:49everybody, does Pearl have The X Factor?
- 0:53Is she a star? So yeah, you guys say yeah.
- 0:58I mean 89% of people say yes, but 11% say no.
- 1:01I think that we may have had that one old judge man Yeah, be
- 1:05in the poll for. This week not you do not have
- 1:09The X Factor. She's not blonde.
- 1:10Yeah, I ain't blonde. I mean that that's The X Factor
- 1:14for that guy. You know, sometimes the solid
- 1:15is. Sometimes.
- 1:17All right, all right, so that's it.
- 1:18I guess we're going to go on to text Chainsaw Massacre.
- 1:20The Beginning. Yeah.
- 1:22Yeah. So it premiered October 6th,
- 1:252006. We watched it on our DVD.
- 1:27We actually have the unrated version of it, so we watched
- 1:30that version, obviously. Some slight differences, yeah,
- 1:34it's not as drastic as the ruins, but there's some
- 1:37differences that we'll probably end up talking.
- 1:39About like Dean does, 20 push ups instead of 10.
- 1:42I mean, yeah, like that's pretty big, dude.
- 1:46I like the thing because we don't even see all of the push
- 1:48ups, we just hear the difference accounting.
- 1:50So that just means that they reshot the scene to say, 10 push
- 1:53ups. I just imagine like they pass
- 1:54the notes, like the studios, like 20 is a little too much.
- 1:58That's excessive. Come on guys, we're still going
- 2:01for family friendly here. If you don't own this, you can
- 2:05rent it on YouTube, Google TV, Prime, Apple TV or Fandink.
- 2:11Went home. Listen, I discovered Google TV
- 2:14was the thing this morning. I'm still processing it.
- 2:17Yeah. Written by Sheldon Turner and
- 2:19David J Show, directed by Jonathan Liebesman, music by
- 2:22Steve Jablonski, and special effects makeup by KNB.
- 2:27Buddies, Yeah. Yeah, Starring Jordana Brewster
- 2:31as Chrissy Taylor Hanley as Dean, Diora Baird as Bailey,
- 2:35Matt Bomer as Eric Arlie, Ernie as Uncle Charlie and then
- 2:40Sheriff Wheat, Andrew Bernarski as Thomas Hewitt, AKA
- 2:44Leatherface, and Marietta Marriage as like, Luda Mae.
- 2:47OK, yeah, that's quite a cast right there.
- 2:50Indeed it is I'm. Happy we have Mia.
- 2:52Yeah, it was actually really exciting to see her.
- 2:56While we're on the topic of Fast and Furious, the day that we're
- 2:59recording this is in fact Statham's and Helen Mirren's
- 3:03birthday, so we're going to have to celebrate appropriately.
- 3:06So go watch one of those movies. Yeah, watch one of the latter
- 3:09Fast and Furious movies. Probably 7.
- 3:11Probably 7. James One.
- 3:14OK, it's time for our favorite game.
- 3:17Budget or budget? I took a pause because you were
- 3:22drinking your coffee. Thank you.
- 3:24I am going to say bug Ted. OK, now I know you were like
- 3:29listening to some of the special features with me and you heard
- 3:32them say the first one was 9 million.
- 3:33So I see that's where your brain was going.
- 3:35But they got 16,000,000 for. Whoa, OK.
- 3:39I thought maybe they're like, you know what?
- 3:40We made such a big profit, let's just actually have our budget.
- 3:44Yeah. I guess usually the mindset for
- 3:46this type of thing. Not with Michael Bay.
- 3:48I'm glad they gave him more. Yeah, that's good.
- 3:50Opening box office of 19 million in a worldwide gross of 51
- 3:53million. Underperformed compared to the
- 3:55last. Yeah, current IMDb score is a
- 3:595.8 out of 10. OK, now I kind of let you in on
- 4:03this beforehand, but our 3 movies from 2006, we've talked
- 4:07about every single one of them on the show.
- 4:08Good. So if you guys want to hear our
- 4:10opinions on any of these, you can.
- 4:13Some of them are very, very early episodes, like our old
- 4:16apartment episodes. Oh no, beware.
- 4:20But I do have a good theme for them all.
- 4:24It's a family affair. A family affair.
- 4:26So it's all family shit, yeah. OK.
- 4:28So the first one, way back when we were still in I think maybe
- 4:32even single digits of movies hatchet.
- 4:35Oh boy. Yeah, Hatchet was.
- 4:37Yeah, it was in the first tin. Yeah, so that actually it didn't
- 4:41have its wide release until 2009, but it premiered at the
- 4:43Tribeca Film Festival on April 27th, 2006.
- 4:47Cool. OK.
- 4:48It had a budget of 1.5 million and grossed 208,000.
- 4:53IMDb score 5.7 out of 10. I like, I like that series.
- 4:57Yeah, I love the hatchet movies. Honestly, the first one is my
- 5:00least favorite series. Yeah, we've talked about this.
- 5:04My opinion hasn't changed. The first one really blew me
- 5:06away, like I was really shocked. And then I mean the rest of
- 5:10them, it's really good. We need to, we need to cover the
- 5:13rest of them. We've taken too long.
- 5:14To bring them that I know, yeah. OK, second movie.
- 5:17It's all three. Yeah, yeah, baby.
- 5:21Wait. Oh yeah, Family is involved in
- 5:24that, huh? That was the that was the whole
- 5:26trap was we find out at the end like oh, their husband and wife.
- 5:29Yeah. That premiered October 27th,
- 5:342006. Budget of 10 million worldwide
- 5:37gross of 164,000,000. IMDb 6.2 out of 10.
- 5:42Yeah, that's a really good one. I like them.
- 5:44And the third one, Black Christmas.
- 5:48Oh yeah man fuck yeah, I love that movie too.
- 5:51That released December 25th, 2006.
- 5:55Budget of 9 million worldwide gross of 21 million IODB 4.7.
- 6:01That's fucking rude. How 4.7 for that?
- 6:05A lot of people hate it. I don't understand why people
- 6:09hate that movie. I think people are just
- 6:11conditioned. To hate remakes.
- 6:12Sometimes, you know what I mean? I think you just have to embrace
- 6:14that one for what it is, yeah. I like the movie. 2006 fucking
- 6:18kicked ass. That's a good year for horror.
- 6:21OK, I got some tag lines. The one on the poster.
- 6:25Witness the birth of fear. Witness me.
- 6:28If you would like to hear it in German, it's later they gave
- 6:32birth to their angst. That me I can't repeat that.
- 6:41Every legend has a beginning. OK.
- 6:47The only thing more shocking than how it ended is how it all
- 6:50began. OK, Yeah, that's those are it.
- 6:55Those are our tag lights. Those are OK They're they're not
- 6:58anything special. Yeah, yeah, I especially because
- 7:03like they really leaned in on the birth thing, but like, the
- 7:09birth is even before the opening credits.
- 7:12Yeah, it's over then. He's just a grown man.
- 7:14To their credit, it was pretty upsetting.
- 7:16It was it. Was that may be the most
- 7:18upsetting part of this whole thing.
- 7:21It was, Yeah. OK, I've got some fun facts if
- 7:24you're ready. Very much.
- 7:26So the producers of the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake,
- 7:30they're very happy with the remake.
- 7:31They didn't want to do another cuz they're like, we did what we
- 7:33set out to do. We're happy with it.
- 7:36But a lot of people kept asking about the family, saying the
- 7:38family seemed interesting. They want to know how things got
- 7:40to be a certain way. And it kind of got that bug in
- 7:43their head and they're like, what if we explore this?
- 7:45So, you know, they went to the company and they're like, hey,
- 7:48is there something here with this?
- 7:50Why are people always so fucking obsessed with the family?
- 7:54I get it kind of. I think it's I think it's the
- 7:58casting in this one specifically like Arlie Ermey and Marietta
- 8:01marriage. They're both really good.
- 8:04Yeah. Wait, wait, is that that's Mom,
- 8:06right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it.
- 8:09But like, I don't know, you know what I mean?
- 8:11Yeah. Like, not enough to, like, ask
- 8:13for like a whole prequel, like, but tell me about the family,
- 8:15you know? Like I just don't understand
- 8:17that part. This the director for this one,
- 8:21Jonathan Liebesman. They actually had him on their
- 8:25shortlist to direct the 2003 movie, but he had already been
- 8:28contracted to direct Darkness Falls, which apparently he hated
- 8:32that experience so much he almost quit the business.
- 8:34Overheard that. Yeah.
- 8:36Michael Bay was a pretty cool guy for that right there.
- 8:39He's like, you know what? I want you to do this so you
- 8:41don't hate making movies anymore.
- 8:43I don't want to kill your passion.
- 8:44Yeah. So he came in, he did it.
- 8:47He actually he watched a lot of the O3 dailies to kind of like
- 8:50match the feeling of the of the last one cuz he wanted them to
- 8:53feel cohesive but he also didn't really copy it directly.
- 8:56So he tried to match the feeling but brought in his own style.
- 8:59Like he loves to shoot from a downward angle to make things
- 9:01more ominous. Yeah, that's very clear.
- 9:05Yeah, they wanted to cast like breakout stars, Jordana,
- 9:09Jordana. Jordana was the first one cast.
- 9:13They thought she would be good for that, like final character
- 9:15type of girl. Yeah, they cast Taylor Hanley
- 9:19like straight off of his audition.
- 9:21They just, they saw his audition.
- 9:22It blew them away. And they're like, all right,
- 9:24we're casting him. He was pretty solid.
- 9:27Yeah. And they they had such a hard
- 9:28time shooting casting Eric after that because they needed
- 9:31somebody who could be rootable, but also like, you know, was
- 9:35like this soldier boy at the same time, but also was looked
- 9:39related to Dean. So they had a little bit of a
- 9:43hard time in that one to cast that.
- 9:45They actually had a bunch of actors come in and read with
- 9:47Jordana to see what their chemistry would be like.
- 9:50That's important, too. Yeah, they used the same house,
- 9:54the same Hewitt house for this shoot, but they actually used a
- 9:57different basement cuz the basement wasn't working for
- 9:59them. They went to an empty cotton gin
- 10:01and then they had the set decorate it.
- 10:03Have you ever wondered or questioned yourself, they're in
- 10:07such a poor place? How did they afford a fucking
- 10:09mansion? They were not making that kind
- 10:12of money at the slaughterhouse. I don't know, it's, you know,
- 10:16like on House Hunters where it's like they're both part time
- 10:19workers and their budget's like $1,000,000 and it's like, OK.
- 10:23Yeah. That's them.
- 10:24That's just you. It's yeah.
- 10:26And who's going to collect the dead?
- 10:27Nobody fucking lives there. Speaking of set dressing, the
- 10:30meat plant was just like this empty building they found didn't
- 10:33even have walls, so they just made that.
- 10:35Yeah. Wow, that's impressive.
- 10:36Yeah, they had to make it. And they had to make it in like
- 10:38stages too, because they had to do it for the opening when the
- 10:41plant was still active and working, when they, you know,
- 10:43when Thomas is born. Then they had to make it for a
- 10:47few years later when it's. Condemned.
- 10:50Yeah, when it's condemned and then even a few more years after
- 10:53that, like they had to really kind of focus on like aging it
- 10:56quickly. That's impressive.
- 10:57They did a good job. Yeah, that was apparently that's
- 11:00where they put a lot of the set decorating into that and also
- 11:03into the house because they had those same considerations, like
- 11:05we can't have it looking exactly the same as it did in the last
- 11:07movie because that movie is 4 is set four years later.
- 11:11Yeah, so they, the director of photography, his name was Lucas.
- 11:17They called it Lucas Cam when they needed like tracking shots
- 11:20that weren't super steady, like they couldn't use the steady Cam
- 11:23for it, so it would look too clean.
- 11:24So they had Lucas Cam so he'd be like running after the after.
- 11:27So, you know, a little bit herky jerky, but I.
- 11:30Noticed that I was like, you know what?
- 11:32I, I, I see this guy, I can tell this camera movement like I, I
- 11:36know what he's doing here. Yeah, Diera Baird said that the
- 11:40crowbar scene where she's like pulled out of the truck, that
- 11:43was her the most painful one. They shot that one a ton of
- 11:45times. Jordana said she got teased for
- 11:48her running form because she runs on a treadmill, so she's
- 11:51got like, good running form. And they said she was like
- 11:53Sherry, it's a fire and she needed to run bad.
- 11:58Watch Scream. Yeah, just do what's it does.
- 12:04They shot the push up scene like bits and pieces over about six
- 12:08or seven days. So it was actually like, what's
- 12:12his name? Taylor Hanley was actually
- 12:15getting more and more exhausted and tired and everything as they
- 12:17were going through the shoot. Wow.
- 12:19And having him do those. They did it over that many days.
- 12:21Yeah, they put a lot of thought. They're like, do we do 10?
- 12:23Do we do 20? What the fuck?
- 12:25So much is going on with the pushups, and they actually did
- 12:31wrap Matthew's Matt Bomer his face in Syrian rap.
- 12:34No fucking way. Yeah.
- 12:36That sounds uncomfortable. Yeah, he said that he was like
- 12:39doing a bunch of his own stunts. And he kept saying, like, I have
- 12:41to assume that these are all safe because, like, he was in
- 12:45the truck when it got dropped in the crash scene, and they
- 12:50wrapped his face and he's like, I'm actually claustrophobic.
- 12:52And our Laramie was like, yeah, no, it's actually kind of scary
- 12:54doing it because even if you leave a gap, that's going to
- 12:56disappear immediately. Yeah.
- 12:58Yeah, you. I mean, you don't fuck around
- 12:59with that, right? There, I'm just going to say, I
- 13:01don't think Matt Bomer was sag at that point because.
- 13:06Yeah, that was fucked up. I can't believe they actually
- 13:09did that to him. He seemed excited about it,
- 13:12though. He was like, well, it's a little
- 13:13scary, but I'm doing it. You know, I mean, I think it
- 13:16also just adds to like having Ermi do it like that guy Will.
- 13:19He sounded awesome in the behind the scenes stuff but like when
- 13:22he's in character he is fucking unhinged and terrifying.
- 13:25Yeah, well, and that's that was a lot of the crew, actually.
- 13:28It was like he just brings an energy to this that's almost
- 13:31frightening. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:33They also said the same thing about Andrew Bernarski.
- 13:36Like his presence is just so intimidating.
- 13:39You know when he puts on the mask he just his leather face.
- 13:42Is that the guy that played him in the last one too?
- 13:44OK. Yeah.
- 13:46So those are my fun facts. I ran out of space on the sheet.
- 13:49There's a lot more, like there were like two other featurettes
- 13:53I watched and I just didn't have any more space for him.
- 13:55Yeah. A lot of like how they did the
- 13:56effects on the things, which I guess we can talk a little bit
- 13:58about that when we get to those scenes.
- 14:00Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's always exciting
- 14:02listening to Greg and Nick's talk about how he made a
- 14:04prosthetic. He's a master of his craft.
- 14:06Yeah, absolutely. So I guess that gives us the the
- 14:11segue into talking about our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 14:14OK, cool. Well, so, OK, this movie isn't
- 14:19like I don't like as much as most people do.
- 14:21Like, you know, I, I, I, I think it's a solid one, but I think a
- 14:25lot of people put this one as like one of their top movies in
- 14:27the franchise. OK And it's just not like that
- 14:30for me. It's OK.
- 14:32Like it has some like really good depths.
- 14:34And I think it like it's really interesting.
- 14:37Like the the group that we follow.
- 14:39I like the idea of like it being like a group of like 2 guys that
- 14:41are going to be drafted and one of them is going to be a draft
- 14:44Dodger. You know, it adds like a little
- 14:46bit of like, I don't know, like drama.
- 14:49It makes a little bit interesting, you know, seeing
- 14:51like everything play out with these people here.
- 14:53But yeah, like, you know, like, I don't know, like it's just it,
- 14:57it, it's OK. You know, like it, it's not my
- 15:00favorite one in the franchise. Like it, it does a lot of
- 15:03things. Well, it's just, I don't like, I
- 15:07don't know, like I'll, I'll talk a little bit more about some of
- 15:09the stuff and the bad that I don't really care for.
- 15:11But like, I'm not not like I'm not mad when I watch this.
- 15:15It's just, you know, it could have been different.
- 15:18OK, I'm not like AI don't think it needed a prequel.
- 15:22It's all I'm trying to say. You know, it touched on things I
- 15:26didn't really think needed to be touched on.
- 15:29OK. So, OK, yeah.
- 15:31I liked this one. OK, I am gonna be very real with
- 15:38you all, which I've been real throughout this whole franchise
- 15:41that I can't tell these movies apart.
- 15:42I know I've seen this one, I know I have.
- 15:46But literally the only thing I remembered from this movie
- 15:49before watching it last night was that the two brothers were
- 15:54supposed to be going to Vietnam. One was planning to dodge his
- 15:58draft, and then the older one volunteered himself in place of
- 16:02his brother. Like when Sheriff Hoyt gets
- 16:05there. That's all I remembered about
- 16:07this movie. That's tricky too, because that
- 16:09can be easily confused with the first one, which like I think
- 16:12Dean looks a lot like one of the guys from the first one, like
- 16:18the the the 2003 one. Yeah, no.
- 16:20And that's that's part of why I get those two mixed up is
- 16:23because I'm thinking of like the blonde guy.
- 16:25Yeah, that's really what gets me with it.
- 16:28But I think I liked this better than the 2003.
- 16:31OK, so. You're there with a lot of other
- 16:33people on that one. I I guess I get it.
- 16:36OK. Why do you like this one more
- 16:37though? I well, you know, I've said last
- 16:41time that one of the problems that I had with the remake is
- 16:44that it wasn't really touching on it wasn't making any kind of
- 16:48a commentary, which is what was so like revolutionary about
- 16:52what? Not revolutionary, but so like.
- 16:54It's key. Yeah, key and long lasting about
- 16:57the 1973 Texas Chainsaw. So this one obviously was like
- 17:01talking about a few things at once because it's talking about
- 17:03the Vietnam War and the different reactions people were
- 17:06having to eat across the country.
- 17:08And it's also talking about, like, the death of a small town
- 17:10when a major business goes away, which is topical and
- 17:14unfortunately even now, Yeah, with, you know, the proposed
- 17:18Medicaid and Medicare cuts and how that's gonna affect a lot of
- 17:21our rural hospitals and just something that is weighing
- 17:25heavily on a lot of people right now.
- 17:27Yeah, I mean, that's just like the reality for a lot of small
- 17:29towns. Yeah.
- 17:30Yeah, where I come from, like if they shut down all of the mines,
- 17:33like that town's fucked. Yeah.
- 17:35Exactly. Like, unless they bring in
- 17:36something else like, yeah, that's really, that's the main
- 17:39money maker, that's the business, yeah.
- 17:41Yeah, exactly. So I think that's just, that's
- 17:43such a relevant topic even now. And I think that it's like it
- 17:47feels more to the heart of the franchise to have that that
- 17:51messaging in there. Yeah, I don't feel like a lot of
- 17:54them touch on like big social commentary, but I think some of
- 17:57the really good ones too, Yeah, like the first one did for sure.
- 18:00I don't think 2 did. No, not as much 3.
- 18:03No 3 didn't really touch on anything. 4 No.
- 18:09Listen, but I'm thinking back to the original because this was a
- 18:12prequel to the remake of the original.
- 18:13So that's what I'm. That's the linear.
- 18:16I get you, I get you. Progression in my head.
- 18:18I also I love pre a human face mask leather face you do.
- 18:25He looks like he is the bass player in a sick ass metal band.
- 18:30I would. Go watch that.
- 18:32He looks like he could be a character in like a fucking
- 18:34Mortal Kombat game or something. He's got like the face
- 18:37coverings. He'd be like one of the like
- 18:38alternate colored scorpions and sub zeros reptile Ermac.
- 18:43Except he's big, He's like Blanca, like huge.
- 18:46So that's like the character I would pick so.
- 18:49I want him in that rope with a. Different, I know that's not I
- 18:51know that's not more open with that, but.
- 18:52Blanca yeah. Fighting game shit.
- 18:55Yeah, yeah. But yeah, I don't know.
- 18:58I see. It's OK.
- 19:00It was a little bit too much. I got.
- 19:02I like the. I like when he puts on faces.
- 19:04You know he's a weather face. But I just like, and I told you
- 19:07last night, like this origin story for his killing spree in
- 19:10this timeline of The Texas Chainsaw, it was reminiscent for
- 19:15me of Russell Crowe in Unhinged. Like he just had a really
- 19:18fucking bad day and now he's a spree killer like.
- 19:23Yeah, yeah. And we all know how I feel about
- 19:26Unhinged. Yeah.
- 19:27You know, one of the things like they showed a lot of the the
- 19:31like renderings of potential faces.
- 19:33Yeah. And like how he could have
- 19:35looked. And I like some of the alternate
- 19:38ones that they didn't go with later or like better.
- 19:41I remember they said they didn't want to do it because they
- 19:43didn't want to cover up his whole face.
- 19:44They wanted to like have part of him there.
- 19:47But I think. It's important for when he like
- 19:49has that mask dawning moment though, and I think it's kind of
- 19:53sweet that he keeps the mask after Uncle Charlie tells him
- 19:56that he likes the way it looks. Oh man, I was going to, I'm
- 19:59going to talk about that in here in a little bit, but I don't.
- 20:03Oh yeah, OK, sure. And then one of my other really
- 20:06good points was Taylor Hanley was like 2223 or so when this
- 20:12was filming, but he really does look baby faced like an 18 year
- 20:15old who's just scared of being called to a war that he doesn't
- 20:18really believe in. Like you see him talking about
- 20:21it, I'm like, oh sweet child, you were in high school a month
- 20:23ago. I feel so bad for you.
- 20:25Man, that's a really dark thing, honestly.
- 20:27Like he's just talking about like, like this piece of paper
- 20:30because I got this piece of paper in the mail.
- 20:32Like I'm going to be not to die. It fucking sucks.
- 20:34And then he talks about his brother hearing him experience
- 20:37like flashbacks and all kinds of shit like that.
- 20:39And. Then his brother was re
- 20:41enlisting just to go with him so you'd feel safe.
- 20:43So sad just to stand on the. Rain, they touched a little bit
- 20:45on it too, but they're like, I mean, that's all he knows now.
- 20:47Like, you know, he wouldn't probably done that regardless
- 20:50honestly. But that also makes that such an
- 20:53such a good parallel to the Hewitt family.
- 20:55Yeah. Because this is what they know.
- 20:57This is them trying to take care of themselves.
- 21:00Yeah. I guess that's true.
- 21:01Yeah, OK, I guess I'm gonna let you hurt my feelings and tell me
- 21:05what you think is bad about this.
- 21:07Movie Well, you know what? You felt my feelings about
- 21:09plenty of these, so now it's time for the tables to turn
- 21:11here. OK, I'm not gonna hurt your
- 21:13feelings too bad. I don't hate this movie, OK?
- 21:15I just like there, like, I don't like it as much as most people.
- 21:18Like, I'm not gonna gush about it, but like, you know, like,
- 21:22OK, so first of all, like, I, I think that there's a little bit
- 21:25too much Leatherface in the beginning of this movie here.
- 21:27You know, like, I feel like you need to have the monster work in
- 21:30the shadows a bit. You don't need to familiarize
- 21:32yourself with them too much or else he doesn't become scary.
- 21:36And I feel like we get a little bit too much of the human side
- 21:40of him right out the gate. Hearing him get bullied and his
- 21:43mom and uncle standing up for him.
- 21:46Well, no, I don't care too much about that.
- 21:48But like just seeing him like in the house and he's just like
- 21:52kind of sulking in the corner when they're having dinner and
- 21:55shit, you know, like, I don't know, like that's not scary.
- 21:59Like you're you're trying to make him a little bit more
- 22:00sympathetic. And like, I like the way that
- 22:02they handled that in the original better when he's just
- 22:05like freaking the fuck out that like intruders keep coming into
- 22:07his house. That's more relatable to me.
- 22:09Like I like that. And that still makes him scary
- 22:12in this moment. He's just like, oh man, oh man.
- 22:14You know, I just, I don't need that.
- 22:18I also don't need to have an explanation for every fucking
- 22:20thing about the characters in this movie.
- 22:22I don't see them as explanations so much as like a little wink,
- 22:25wink, nudge, nudge, like, hey, we're calling this back to the
- 22:282003 in the thing I know. Wanted to explain how every
- 22:32thing happened. I know that they said that, but
- 22:35that's, I don't see it as like a, oh, we know this is a big
- 22:38question for everybody. It's just like I, it's
- 22:42unnecessary. Like I get it, Like they do
- 22:45this. This is who they are.
- 22:46We don't need to know. Like, oh, and This is why he
- 22:48wears the face. This is how he washed his teeth.
- 22:50I enjoyed watching the guy with his legs.
- 22:53That one was one that I actually did care.
- 22:55For well, and that part was actually really important to
- 22:57understand the family dynamics because Luda Mae is a little bit
- 23:00more in control in this one. And she keeps telling that he's
- 23:02a dumb dumb. And I think this is him showing
- 23:05like, hey, I'm unhinged. We got Big Tommy on my side so I
- 23:10can cut off your legs too. Mama, I don't want to do that.
- 23:12Look, I OK, and I have things to say about that too.
- 23:16So like, I don't like how she's like one second condemning him
- 23:21and then one second playing along perfectly fine and like
- 23:24going along with it. She's like you, you brought
- 23:26these people here. This is a huge mistake.
- 23:28How could you do this? You're a fucking idiot.
- 23:29And then the next scene, she's over there like cleaning the
- 23:31girl, singing through like, oh it's OK baby, you know, like
- 23:34what the fuck? Because the tea lady was coming
- 23:37over, she needed to be clean for guests.
- 23:38But she's going along with it, you know, like she's like, this
- 23:42is the worst fucking idea ever. Here we go.
- 23:45Like, I'm just going to fucking do it.
- 23:47I'm going along with it. But then the next scene again,
- 23:49going to scold you again, this is fucking stupid.
- 23:52And then back to just like slipping right on into it.
- 23:55No problems whatsoever. It's just like she had control
- 23:59over him. There was not one part that like
- 24:02it suggested that she was afraid of him.
- 24:05The other dude, the uncle dude, he is.
- 24:08Terrified. Absolutely.
- 24:09And they made that clear. But she could have put her foot
- 24:12down a little bit harder. I think this is still like a
- 24:14traditional family here. They respect the matriarch of
- 24:17the house. And I think that if she would
- 24:19have like, really done something about it, like really let it be
- 24:23known that she was not happy with that, I think they would
- 24:25have maybe toned it down a bit, you know?
- 24:29OK. I just.
- 24:31It's just. Yeah.
- 24:32It. Yeah, that we've covered it.
- 24:36OK, that's my issues with the movie.
- 24:39Mine is that I understand we needed to have an inciting
- 24:42incident to them wrecking but really what was the point of the
- 24:46bikers? Cuz there's like a whole group
- 24:48of them and then all of a sudden it's just two and one of them's
- 24:51gonna rob but the other guy wants no part.
- 24:53I like I just. I think you needed more bodies.
- 24:55You need more people to kill. That was a.
- 24:57Yeah, it just, it could have been done a little better for
- 24:59me. Yeah, that's the one.
- 25:00That's the thing I've always tried to tell you, like that
- 25:03makes this movie different. It's like, OK, that's something
- 25:05that's different about this movie.
- 25:06Bikers so that this is the one with the bikers, but you never
- 25:09remember the. Bikers never did remember.
- 25:11Through like out most of the movie, at least two of them.
- 25:14One of them, yeah, one of them is there for most of the movie.
- 25:17Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 25:21That's just, I think it's just a little bit, a little bit extra
- 25:24that didn't need to be there, OK?
- 25:26Or it could have been finessed a little bit better.
- 25:28OK, sure. OK.
- 25:29Like the only way they really kind of tied it in was like,
- 25:31soon this town's just going to be full of bikers and hippies.
- 25:35I don't even know, like, do they live there?
- 25:36Like they act like this town is like it's just like their sole
- 25:38population of them. Their jacket's at El Paso.
- 25:41On that. So they're just driving through.
- 25:42They're El Pasoing through do. You feel good about that?
- 25:46Yeah, yeah. Why do you?
- 25:48Feel good about it. OK, you ready to do ugly?
- 25:53Well, we get it right out the gate with that scene of Mama
- 25:59giving birth to Weatherface. And the boss is like, it's that
- 26:02fucking alcohol. I told you that's what happens
- 26:04when you drink. Like what?
- 26:06And then she just collapses and just like gives birth right
- 26:09there on the floor and everybody's just like mad about
- 26:12it it. Was such a quick birth.
- 26:13It really was, yeah. And yeah, I don't know.
- 26:16I just, I thought that that was really disgusting also.
- 26:21Yeah, like the whole thing about like, the town just being
- 26:24abandoned basically, and all these people having to like, no,
- 26:27no, no having to leave. Like, that's like really all
- 26:31everybody suggested, like, well, I mean, nobody else is going to
- 26:33be here. Like, everything's shut down.
- 26:35Like we just got to get the fuck out.
- 26:36Of here, Lou Temple says he's the only police officer left and
- 26:40he's leaving next week. He shouldn't have said that.
- 26:43He shouldn't have. That right there is like, well,
- 26:45OK, I guess if I kill you then nobody's going to stop me, you
- 26:48know? Yeah, on the other hand, and it
- 26:50does show that he's going to be missed somewhere.
- 26:53Yeah, I guess that's true. Yeah.
- 26:55Yeah, that's true. But people come looking for him.
- 26:57Probably not. But yeah, I agree with you.
- 27:00I think the town shutting down like that is not cool.
- 27:04Yeah. It's like it's ugly in a way
- 27:06that's just like dark, you know? Yeah.
- 27:10Also the poor little trash baby. I don't feel good about that
- 27:13either, baby. Do we think that he also put
- 27:16Mama in the dumpster cuz she died?
- 27:18Do we think that? I don't mean to be mean, but I
- 27:20don't think that they could have put her there.
- 27:23That's mean. It's just also realistic.
- 27:26But like, what did they? They got rid of the baby?
- 27:28What did they do with Mama first?
- 27:31Mama birthday. Well, were they eating people
- 27:34yet? I don't know, maybe they cut
- 27:37her. UP, I don't think the plant
- 27:38owners were into that. Maybe, probably not.
- 27:41I don't know. I don't know.
- 27:43They probably just like they could have just slept her there.
- 27:46That's why it's condemned. OK, what's your absurd?
- 27:51So one of them is that scene with Mama and her friend there,
- 27:58and they have Bailey tied to the table and they're just like
- 28:01having this really drawn out conversation about tea and
- 28:04chocolate. Iced tea.
- 28:06They're so excited about iced tea.
- 28:07And then the tea lady goes. You know what else is good?
- 28:11Iced coffee. It's the way that they're
- 28:12talking to you. Like, do you know what else is
- 28:16good? I love.
- 28:17That they just brought the tea lady back for this one scene.
- 28:20Do you think she's still pinned up to that or like did she ever
- 28:23get out? They built around her.
- 28:26Yeah. Also, I, I, I love that the
- 28:32sheriff is weirdly supportive of Leatherface.
- 28:36Like he is such a fucking bad person to everybody else.
- 28:40And he says all of these like scores and shit, but then like
- 28:43with Leatherface, like he's a little different.
- 28:45He's misunderstood. It's.
- 28:46Uncle entering which like I hate but there is a part of me that I
- 28:49was like if one of my nieces or nephews was getting picked on I
- 28:52feel like I'd be pretty mean. Yeah.
- 28:54I mean, they're being really mean to him and like they're,
- 28:57you know, they're saying really mean things to other face and
- 28:59they picked on him, you know, like he's being like he's kind
- 29:02of being the dad to him, really. And yeah, I just like it, you
- 29:06know, like when he puts the face and I was like, I like the face,
- 29:08yeah. Like most people were.
- 29:10Just most people he'd be like, that's fucking freaky dude,
- 29:12don't wear people's faces. But he's like, good for you,
- 29:15man. It took very like, listen,
- 29:18Thomas had the only life he'd ever known taken away from him
- 29:22with the plant shutting down. Yeah.
- 29:24Hoyt. It took nothing to push him over
- 29:27the edge. He was waiting for an excuse.
- 29:29Yeah, he really was. Yeah.
- 29:32And the last thing is when they cut off Uncle's legs.
- 29:37I love that they patch him up with meat.
- 29:40Yeah, I guess. Like the parchment paper?
- 29:42Yeah. Like, come on.
- 29:44Man butcher paper. Dude that's just so fucking
- 29:48disrespectful. I like that they just cut off
- 29:51his other leg to make him even. That's so that's even more
- 29:55disrespect right there. I can't believe he's like to
- 29:57balance balance like that. Man you could have balanced
- 30:01better with one leg. The actor, what Terrence Evans,
- 30:04I think his name is, he was in the little featurettes and he
- 30:06was, and he was like, I don't know, I think Monty was kind of
- 30:09a victim in all of this too. He didn't want any part of
- 30:11anything that was happening. I feel, you know, I kind of feel
- 30:14bad for him, honestly, Yeah. My absurd is the meat plant
- 30:20owner because he says such terrible things and he's like
- 30:23why are you upset? Like he tells the the woman when
- 30:26he's like, I can't be drinking on the jaw and he's like, oh,
- 30:28shit, she died in childbirth on my floor, which is super
- 30:32unsanitary for both aspects of things, both the meat and the
- 30:36the baby and mother. Yeah.
- 30:38And then also later, like he's just chewing out Thomas Hewitt
- 30:42saying, yeah, well, you're kind is going to die here in this
- 30:44town, blah, blah, blah. And then when Thomas attacks
- 30:48him, he goes, how is your friend?
- 30:50Which gave me big. How was your friend Mikey?
- 30:55And Danny Trejo was actually. His friend.
- 30:57Actually, his friend. Yeah, this guy was a piece of
- 30:59shit. Yeah.
- 31:02He he watched that movie. He's like, oh, I've got a
- 31:05perfect house. Yeah.
- 31:08So yeah, this, that was my main absurd was that plant owner like
- 31:11being like, I don't understand why we're not friends.
- 31:14Yeah, yeah, this is how I talk to my friends.
- 31:16I believe it is actually how he talks to his friends.
- 31:19It's like, you know what, dudes we RIP on each other, you know?
- 31:21What I mean? You, you come over here, you get
- 31:23born in my place. I RIP on you and tell you you're
- 31:25a piece of shit. You know I dumped you in a
- 31:28dumpster. Yeah.
- 31:29We go way. Back.
- 31:30Yeah, it's a little tit for tat all.
- 31:34Right. How would you rate this one?
- 31:36Like I said, I don't hate this movie and I still do recognize
- 31:39it as like, like it's actually an enjoyable experience.
- 31:42I don't hate it. It's just though, you know, I
- 31:44don't necessarily like it as much as most people.
- 31:47I'm going to give it like a 6 1/2.
- 31:49I'm going to give it an 8. OK, I think it's better than the
- 31:52last one. I don't stand by that one bit.
- 31:56I really do. The last one was way better.
- 32:00Our starting average is 7.25. OK, I can look at that.
- 32:04OK. All right.
- 32:07All right, We start off August 1939.
- 32:10We're at the slaughterhouse. There is a worker, her name is
- 32:14Sloan. She tells the boss she needs a
- 32:17bathroom break. And then she starts.
- 32:19She gasps her rosary. Her rosary.
- 32:22Yeah, I think that's what it's called, the Catholic bead thing.
- 32:26Oh yeah, you're talking about like a Potter for body or
- 32:29something. Like anything.
- 32:30There was anything called a rosary.
- 32:31In your neck region, Yeah. But yeah, then she just her
- 32:38water breaks, there's a lot of blood and the baby just right
- 32:42out on floor. It's got like a deformation on
- 32:45its face surely? Yeah, yeah, and I guess the
- 32:49owner didn't know what to do, wasn't planning to call it in
- 32:51because he dumps one or more bodies into the dumpster.
- 32:55You ever think that he do you think he knew that that was the
- 32:58baby that he threw in the dumpster whenever he comes to
- 33:02work at the plant later because he has like the facial
- 33:04deformation. Yeah, I feel like he has to
- 33:05know. I'm sure he does.
- 33:08Yeah, well, a random woman just comes by.
- 33:10It's not a random woman, that's a young Lou De Mae.
- 33:13OK, a young Lou de Mae is like doing a little dumpster diving
- 33:16on the side and she happens to symbol across.
- 33:20The old the old Paul Rudd Ave. to parenthood.
- 33:24You know, okay, I was gonna say it worked for him, but it didn't
- 33:28really work out for him. I mean, he survived, but it
- 33:30wasn't a good time. Yeah, yeah, Well, she finds the
- 33:33baby man, brings it home, and yeah, we get the opening to the
- 33:38movie. We see some documentation, some
- 33:41pictures of weather face as a child and like age 6 to age 9.
- 33:45He's kind of, he's doing the Michael Myers remake, like
- 33:48covering up his face in the pictures, getting really into
- 33:51math making. I guess, yeah, a little bit,
- 33:54yeah, Yeah, OK. And we also hear, like, Uncle
- 34:00Charlie's voice overs in the opening credits to defending him
- 34:04and telling her, yeah, you, you're best for meat plant work,
- 34:07boy. Yeah, You know, he's a natural,
- 34:10honestly. And we see, Yeah.
- 34:12Later on, the plant's been condemned.
- 34:14It's July 1969. Boss is he's making them, making
- 34:19one of the workers there force Leatherface to leave because
- 34:21he's the only one sticking around.
- 34:23He refuses to leave the plant. Yeah, and they kick him out, but
- 34:26we know that it's not going to be a good time.
- 34:28No, just based on the energy stature.
- 34:32Then we caught 2 a couple by a pool.
- 34:34Oh, hey. Hi, Mia.
- 34:35Hi, Mia. Torretto.
- 34:36Yeah, yeah. What is this rainbow?
- 34:39When this guy comes out of the water like that, what movie is
- 34:42that from? He's he's imitating a movie
- 34:44there. I think he's just reliving his
- 34:48time in Vietnam. No, it's not a rainbow.
- 34:51That's a, that's a fucking war movie.
- 34:52I don't know. He's got a knife in the mouth.
- 34:53That's like coming out of the yeah.
- 34:56Yeah, but he's so Chrissy is taking him and his brother Dean
- 35:02to go enlist for the war. Yeah, driving down to Austin,
- 35:07they're all having like a little bit of like good time on this
- 35:09road trip to try and make the most of it before, you know, the
- 35:11two have to leave. Dean and Bailey are in their
- 35:15motel room with the door wide open, according to the extended
- 35:17scene. I was thinking about that like
- 35:19he's tied up to the bed and like I got to imagine like people at
- 35:22the motel walking by. Can you imagine making eye
- 35:24contact with the person while you're just tied up on the bed?
- 35:26Dude, that's a power move. Isn't power move?
- 35:29I feel like very well it depends on the level of icon.
- 35:31Like how your eye contact is. I just, I don't want that one
- 35:35weird person at the motel to like stop at the doorway and go,
- 35:37hey, it's like. You know, new your, new you
- 35:41where it's like, you know what a nod means, Yeah.
- 35:44Yeah, I'm not nodding in that situation.
- 35:46I'm like, nopin, get the fuck out of here.
- 35:49I'm glad she shuts the door and yeah, she's trying to like, have
- 35:52some sexy time with him, but his mind's not in that.
- 35:55Place right. Now he's thinking a little bit
- 35:56too much about, you know. Going off to war?
- 35:59Yeah, we're telling Eric that he's he's not wanting to go to
- 36:02war and he's going to be ditching and heading to Mexico
- 36:04instead. Yep, that is their plan.
- 36:08We cut back to the meat plant and Thomas is there and the
- 36:11owner is just being fucking rude to him.
- 36:13And then it's shocked when Thomas attacks him with a
- 36:16sledgehammer. With a sledgehammer.
- 36:18And then, like, he tries to call the cops, they can't get to it,
- 36:23and then he gets killed. And then the weather phase is
- 36:24like, and I'm taking the chainsaw too.
- 36:26Yeah, she's like fuck you. So we cut to the couples again.
- 36:30They're all in the Jeep. They're gonna have to stay there
- 36:32for the next two nights because there's not enough motels along
- 36:35the way from here to Austin. And as they're driving, they're
- 36:38attacked by a bunch of bikers. I think that this is a part of
- 36:42the unrated cut. I don't think this is in the
- 36:44theatrical. Which that makes at least a
- 36:46little bit more sense because we only see the other two bikers
- 36:48later. No, you see the rest of them in
- 36:51the back too when they're she's going to the bathroom.
- 36:54But they like, Boo her. Yeah, you know, Yeah.
- 36:56But yeah, they're like driving. They don't Boo her like Boo.
- 36:59They go Boo just for just for anybody who's men not falling
- 37:03along. That's a power move.
- 37:04Like somebody walks into the store and just go Boo, that
- 37:08would hurt. That is the thing that we'll do
- 37:11at work sometimes is like you do.
- 37:12People that walk into. Your office?
- 37:14No, we boot. Ohk, OK, that's different.
- 37:16Somebody comes out of the bathroom, we'll be like waiting
- 37:18there silently and we go poop. That's that's different.
- 37:22Yeah. Like the bikers?
- 37:22Are driving by, I don't know, I don't know why, but they're all
- 37:25just like fuck this Jeep and they start attacking it and then
- 37:28they just, you know, antagonize them and drive past yeah it.
- 37:32Was just for the shits and giggles of it.
- 37:33I guess we got Salute Temple. Yeah in real life is like one of
- 37:38the nicest people. I fucking love Lou Temple, man.
- 37:41Yeah, I like seeing him anytime he pops up.
- 37:43Your role. Yeah, you're like, I know that
- 37:44guy. We're fence.
- 37:45Yeah, he's a good guy. I threw.
- 37:46Axes with him, yeah, yeah. But yeah, he he goes over to the
- 37:50Hewitt house and he tells Uncle Charlie he's like, hey, found
- 37:55the one of the owners of Lee brothers meet dead in his office
- 37:59and it's your boy, It's your boy.
- 38:02So I'm just doing you a courtesy and also see if you want to come
- 38:05with me because I know he'll listen to you better.
- 38:08Two birds, one stone. And so Aunt Charlie comes with
- 38:10him. And it's not a great time
- 38:13because they do find Thomas. And the cop says, all right,
- 38:19hold on, I'll step out. I'll give you the signal.
- 38:23And so when he steps out and he tries to talk to Thomas, I mean,
- 38:26Charlie's not, he's not waiting around.
- 38:29He grabs. Oh, my God.
- 38:30OK. I remember started.
- 38:31I was like, what is that noise? This is a really.
- 38:35Scary moment for that to start up.
- 38:39He grabs the gun off at the dashboard and he comes out and
- 38:42shoots Hoyt, the original Hoyt, and then decides he's, you know,
- 38:46Thomas is gonna wear other people's faces.
- 38:49Charlie's just gonna wear their clothes.
- 38:50Yeah, he assumes their. Yeah, whole identity at that
- 38:53point. Yeah.
- 38:54I told him he's like, yeah, I'm gonna.
- 38:56I'm the only piece of law enforcement here and I'm moving
- 38:58to Michigan next week. So boom.
- 39:00All right. New sheriff in town.
- 39:01Yeah, and at. Dinner he serves the late Hoyt
- 39:08and says this is how we are going to survive here. 6
- 39:11generations of Hewitt's have lived and bled and sweated into
- 39:14the soil and it's not going to end with us, damn it.
- 39:18And Luda Mae is very concerned about this.
- 39:20They they were not. People eating family at this
- 39:23point, right they are now. Just fucking roll with it.
- 39:26Nobody. Has later we find out.
- 39:28Charlie has been a people eater, and apparently it's true, that
- 39:34storyline and it's Always Sunny, where once you get the taste of
- 39:37people, yeah, you just got to keep going.
- 39:40And we're tying it back to Rambo now, too.
- 39:43There we go. We are.
- 39:44But. Like I that was another thing.
- 39:46I didn't need to have that explained to me.
- 39:48Like they just fucking eat people Just let that be a thing.
- 39:51But then they're like, I, well, I started because I was a POW
- 39:54over in Korea and it's like, whatever, man, I don't need to
- 39:56know that. Just like you eat people just
- 39:59let that be. And she's not.
- 40:02Into it, but then like she's so into it the next scene.
- 40:05It's just so fucking weird. I don't know, I.
- 40:08Kind of like cuz it's not, I have a hard time kind of
- 40:13separating. And I don't mean like literally
- 40:16because I can separate the two franchises, but like when you
- 40:19get down to the bare bones of it, Texas Chainsaw and Wrong
- 40:22Turn. Oh yeah, have a lot of very
- 40:23similar vibes. And I get it with Wrong Turn.
- 40:27I kind of like that we're getting an explanation of like,
- 40:29OK, this family, what's their deal?
- 40:32Because they are. Not like deformed hillbillies,
- 40:37like, yeah, yeah. OK.
- 40:41So we need a little bit further explanation because these people
- 40:44were at one point and these folks would be.
- 40:47Rednecks. They're rednecks, yeah.
- 40:49They're yeah the wrong. Turn.
- 40:51They're hillbillies yeah. And I'm speaking very
- 40:54geographically with these terms. Yeah, you're, you're.
- 40:57Correct. Yeah.
- 40:59OK. So we cut to the our two couples
- 41:02asleep in their Jeep. The next day they wake up,
- 41:04they're driving along and they stop at the general store.
- 41:06It's Luda Maze, General Store and Slash Bar slash Bar.
- 41:10Apparently. Rich.
- 41:12Hell yeah. I.
- 41:14Any store that lets me have a beer while I'm shopping is my
- 41:16favorite store. I love it.
- 41:18Our annual trip to Whole Foods is my favorite for that reason.
- 41:20Yeah, and it's drunk and get Thanksgiving and.
- 41:23It's really smart because. You're not caring as much about
- 41:26how bad the prices are when you've got a really stout beer
- 41:28in your hands. It's true.
- 41:29More places. Need to do that?
- 41:31Yeah, it takes the sting out of a. $70 grocery bill for like 4
- 41:34items. Oh, absolutely, yeah.
- 41:36So they're just like going there to like head towards the
- 41:39bathroom and they get, I'd buy 2 bikers, which will be the two
- 41:43bikers that will be more the most important.
- 41:46Yeah. They go into the back and they
- 41:47see like the bikers that drove past and yes, yes, this is.
- 41:50Chrissy and Bailey and Chrissy's like, hey, I can tell
- 41:54something's going on with you and Dean, what's up?
- 41:56And Bailey tells her what their plan is.
- 41:58Meanwhile, outside, Eric and Dean are having a similar
- 42:02conversation, but a lot less supportive because Chrissy is
- 42:05like, yes, do you get out of here?
- 42:07Don't let him go if you can help it.
- 42:10This is just who Eric is, and I, I'm supporting him.
- 42:14Yeah, like he doesn't know any better.
- 42:16And or anything different. And Eric's outside just like
- 42:19kind of like, I think he's trying to pump him up.
- 42:21He's like, hoorah, brother. Yeah, we're going to war.
- 42:24He doesn't want his little brother to know that.
- 42:25He's scared, too, Yeah. He's putting on a brave face,
- 42:28yeah. Because he's just going back
- 42:29for. Him because he knows that Dean
- 42:30is really scared but Dean's like, I know that you didn't
- 42:33have a good time over there. I hear you screaming at night
- 42:35and crying about what you did to people.
- 42:37Why are you going back? He's like, I'm going back for
- 42:39you. But then they have to, like,
- 42:40hurry out of there because the bikers are freaking the girls
- 42:42out. So they are driving along.
- 42:46And, uh oh, the bikers are following them again.
- 42:48This time it's the lady biker. She's got a gun.
- 42:51She's telling them to pull over. They're freaking out.
- 42:53Oh, no. What do we do?
- 42:54And Eric's like, don't worry, I have a gun.
- 42:57So he goes to grab it. But he's distracted driving,
- 42:59which is bad news anywhere but especially in Texas, where cows
- 43:02can just, like, wander freely in the roads.
- 43:04And they obliterate this cow dude.
- 43:07Yeah. It was interesting seeing the
- 43:10cow constructed by the that special effects team.
- 43:14Yeah, filled with a bunch of shit and.
- 43:15Actually drove. Through it is impressive yeah
- 43:18yeah so they. Have a really bad wreck.
- 43:21Bailey has a piece of glass stuck in her stomach.
- 43:23Chrissy has been fully ejected. The biker lady is like, all
- 43:27right, cool, this is going to make it easier for me to rob you
- 43:29guys. And that's when Hoyt, the new
- 43:32Hoyt, pulls up and he just bam, bam, yeah, he's like.
- 43:37I don't have time for her. Yeah, she's like, all right.
- 43:39Yeah, I know. That you're a piece of shit.
- 43:41Because yeah, you've clearly. Yeah.
- 43:44So I mean, come on. Look at you.
- 43:46Yeah. Then he starts hassling the
- 43:50other three. As he does, he falls into this
- 43:54very quickly. And he as he's trying to get
- 43:57them all out of the car, he pulls the piece of glass out of
- 43:59Bailey's stomach. Ouch.
- 44:03Also, they do nothing to attempt.
- 44:05To stop her bleeding so tummy stabbed man horror movie.
- 44:08Roles. She's OK, yeah.
- 44:10And. Then he finds the half burnt
- 44:13draft card for Dean and he says which one of you is Dean?
- 44:16Eric says he's Dean because he can tell that Hoyt is trouble,
- 44:20so he's just trying to like cover for him.
- 44:22Meanwhile, Christy, like he's made eye contact with Christy
- 44:25who is in the grass and he's just like, yeah, don't get out
- 44:29here. Yeah, this is fucked up.
- 44:31So he puts them in the cop car and puts the body in the
- 44:34passenger seat and they're like, is this normal?
- 44:36Protocol. And he said this is somebody's
- 44:38family. Would you want your family
- 44:40shoved in the trunk of the car? That's a nice call back to the
- 44:432003 meeting. Yeah.
- 44:44Yeah. Raises not in the back seat.
- 44:49Yeah. Chrissy climbs into the.
- 44:51Jeep because she's going to try and like follow them, but that
- 44:54Jeep is not running anymore. She was trying to get the gun.
- 44:57And she she's, like, fumbling around looking for it.
- 45:00And then the tow truck pulls up with Monty.
- 45:02Yeah. And he's like.
- 45:03All right, I'm going to rummage through the Jeep myself.
- 45:05So he ends up just kind of like finding the gun instead and
- 45:10pulls that out, and then he takes the truck and tows it
- 45:12back. Yep.
- 45:13And she is still hiding. In the back seat of it,
- 45:16meanwhile, in the cop car, they're talking about Vietnam,
- 45:19the war. Dean is just trying to kind of
- 45:22parrot the things that he's heard Eric say.
- 45:24He's trying to like feel like I think cuz like.
- 45:26I'm with Dean in this year. I think that he's suspicious
- 45:29that he knows that Dean isn't Dean.
- 45:32Yeah. Is Dean confusing?
- 45:34But you know, yeah, he's trying to suss them out there and then
- 45:39when they. Get to the Hewitt household.
- 45:42They're like, is this the station?
- 45:44Is this my mom's house? He gets out.
- 45:47And Dean is like, yo, he's definitely on to us.
- 45:50And Eric's like, Nah, stay the course.
- 45:52It's cool. Trust me, it's cool.
- 45:54Leatherface comes out, takes the biker's body, kind of freaks
- 45:57them out in the back seat because that's a big guy.
- 45:59He's a big boy. Chrissy arrives, and she's kind
- 46:03of sneaking around, looking around, almost gets peed on.
- 46:06That's gross. Yeah, I'm glad she didn't.
- 46:08Monty sees the brothers tied up in the barn because they're
- 46:14both, like, tied up by their wrists.
- 46:15They're like, can you help us? He is.
- 46:16I don't get involved in his affairs.
- 46:19He's terrified. Yeah, and then he walks into
- 46:22the. Kitchen and Bailey is on the
- 46:23ground tied to the kitchen table and she's like help me and he
- 46:27just and. Everybody's just watching along.
- 46:30With this shit, they're like, all right, this is our life now.
- 46:31We got people tied up around our house.
- 46:33I feel like if I went to one of our.
- 46:35Friend's house for tea, which first of all, what friend of
- 46:39mine are you? If you're trying to give me iced
- 46:41tea, that's gross. And I saw somebody tied up and
- 46:46be like, hey, can we talk for a second?
- 46:50Like what the fuck is happening here?
- 46:52Yeah, like best case. Scenario.
- 46:54This is a consensual sexual thing.
- 46:55It's not consensual with me. Yeah, I need to leave.
- 46:58Yeah. Worst case.
- 46:59Scenario. Something really bad's
- 47:01happening, Yeah. It's like, no, no, no.
- 47:04But us too. The tea lady, she's just.
- 47:07She just wants to have her tea. She just wants to talk about her
- 47:10tea. And sweet little Luda Mae.
- 47:13She is. She's that variety of woman that
- 47:15I say like thinks it's crazy to get an appetizer when she goes
- 47:18out to dinner. We're going to be a little wild.
- 47:20You know that type. Are we going to do it?
- 47:21And she's talking about how she drinks her breakfast tea at
- 47:25night. Live in dangerously this
- 47:31version. Of Luda Mae before she was like
- 47:33completely bought into the bullshit and she just wants to
- 47:36enjoy her iced beverages with her friend with a person tied
- 47:41beneath. Her listen, she's not fully
- 47:43bought. In I didn't say she wasn't
- 47:44personally bought in If you are doing that shit if.
- 47:46You were having that chill of a conversation about iced tea and
- 47:50ice all whatever, then yeah, with that person there.
- 47:53No, you're not. Like you're you're in.
- 47:56You're subscribed at that point he comes.
- 47:59Out to the barn and he wraps some Saran wrap around Eric's
- 48:02face. He is having a hard time
- 48:04breathing. He is not acting in this moment.
- 48:06Matt Bomer is actually about to be suffocated.
- 48:09I can't. I still cannot.
- 48:10Believe they actually did that too and that is bizarre I feel.
- 48:13Like, I would actually panic, but that would look like really
- 48:16good acting. So it's kind of like, yeah, I
- 48:20didn't. True.
- 48:21Cuz he said he's he's. A claustrophobic as well.
- 48:24So yeah, got us a nightmare. And then Dean's like, all right,
- 48:27fuck it, I'm Dean. I'm Dean.
- 48:28Yeah, he was covering for me. And then, yeah, yeah, he, like,
- 48:31stabs a little breathing hole through the mouth right there.
- 48:34And I was expecting him to show. Like a broken tooth or like cut
- 48:39tongue? Yeah, something.
- 48:40Yeah, he cut really aggressive. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:43So he unhooks Dean and tells him about his time in a Korea POW
- 48:50camp in 1952. Rations were very very thin and
- 48:55far between so they picked one person each week and Dean's
- 49:00like. To do what he.
- 49:00Goes, you know what, he goes. All right, So if you want to
- 49:04play Soulja Boy, we're going to play Soulja Boy.
- 49:06If you can drop and give me 20, I will let you walk out of here.
- 49:10Yep, so. He's struggling to do them and
- 49:13as he's doing them he's hitting him and like whipping him he's
- 49:16got. Like getting halfway.
- 49:18Yeah, and. Then he like if.
- 49:19He like hits him. Before he finishes his point,
- 49:21he's like, all right, that didn't count.
- 49:22Yeah. And I think, yeah, the fact that
- 49:25they took so much time filming this, like across the whole
- 49:28week, I think it definitely shows.
- 49:30And the acting, like he really is just getting completely worn
- 49:33out. I just can't believe they spent
- 49:35that. Long filming that scene.
- 49:36I don't think those were the only scenes.
- 49:37They were filming over those seven days, I'm sure, yeah.
- 49:40Yeah, but like, still, like, why not just knock that shit out And
- 49:43like, that's like that's, that's irresponsible.
- 49:46So I think they wanted him to look more and.
- 49:47More worn out maybe, I guess I don't know, I'm not.
- 49:49Yeah, maybe they they knew they know better than I do, I guess.
- 49:53And so he finally gets his 20. Done.
- 49:55And Hoyt jumps on his back and says you're free to go.
- 49:59And then he looks at arrogance, says bad.
- 50:01Doubt he'll be moving anytime soon.
- 50:04So Eric is, like evaluating the area.
- 50:07He sees that he can kind of get himself out of there.
- 50:10So he moves like a little piece behind him a little bit closer
- 50:13and then starts to kick, like the support beam base tattoo.
- 50:16And it breaks and he falls and he frees himself.
- 50:18Yeah. And he goes and gets Dean.
- 50:21Meanwhile, we have just had Bailey cleaned up and she's a
- 50:26weird. Extra guest.
- 50:28Underneath the table at the Tea Party and Chrissy has made her
- 50:32way back out to the road and she is flagging down.
- 50:34Help. She flags.
- 50:36Down the. The other biker, The boyfriend,
- 50:40I guess, of the woman who was shot.
- 50:43Yeah. And this guy?
- 50:44Like they still make him kind of like a, you know, a typical
- 50:48biker. But before he was he only stared
- 50:50at him when he drove by. He didn't participate in the
- 50:52fucking round. And he tried to tell his
- 50:53girlfriend, leave him be, leave him alone.
- 50:55And when she says? Your friend, your friend was
- 50:57with them. He she was shot.
- 50:59And he's like, show me where we're going, like he's ready.
- 51:03So she hops on the. Back they go no, and then they
- 51:06start they. Walk through the woods to get
- 51:07there. Well, yeah, but they they drive.
- 51:09A little bit too. Well, anyways, Eric runs into
- 51:13the house. Yeah, and he starts throwing
- 51:15rocks. 1st to get them distracted and so they're
- 51:19shouting for Hoyt to come help but Eric Bussen gets Bailey
- 51:23untied and then they shove the table and the tea lady to
- 51:26barricade the door and she's just yeah.
- 51:30I. Love tea lady, I'm.
- 51:31Sorry, I'm never mad when tea lady's on screen.
- 51:34Yeah. Yeah, OK.
- 51:35Yeah. That was a funny scene.
- 51:38Just. Like taking the whole table and
- 51:39her and just yeah, she's. Just.
- 51:44Like, yeah, so he frees Bailey and they.
- 51:49Yeah, she grabs the. Keys cuz she saw where Monty had
- 51:51put the tow truck keys. So she grabs the keys and she
- 51:54runs to the tow truck. Eric says I'm gonna go grab Dean
- 51:56and then we'll get out of here. She manages to get into the
- 51:58truck. She's trying to like.
- 52:00She doesn't know where Eric and Dean exactly are, but she's
- 52:02trying to find them. Yeah.
- 52:04That door. Is not latching shut which is
- 52:07really bad news for her because leather face is able to take a
- 52:10crowbar meat hook type thing and hook it into her and pull yeah
- 52:14they shot this so many times there are just so many shots of
- 52:17her falling into the crash pad yeah she said yeah and like I
- 52:21said she said this was definitely the most painful
- 52:23scene for her to shoot no doubt yeah I I.
- 52:25Believe that, so Hoyt finds Eric.
- 52:28Eric and Dean keeps running, but he ends up getting caught in a
- 52:30bear trap. So everybody's caught in their
- 52:32different ways. Yeah.
- 52:34Erica like confronts. The sheriff and he's like
- 52:37already do it, do it fucking shoot me like right in front of
- 52:39him. I'm surprised he didn't shoot
- 52:40him right. He wants to fuck with him.
- 52:42Yeah, cuz, he said you thought. I was a pussy.
- 52:44Wait until you get a hold of Thomas.
- 52:47See who you think is a pussy now the biker and Chrissy have
- 52:52arrived and yeah, they have been looking for this house for.
- 52:55Hours. Yeah, I wonder like what do you?
- 52:57Think they talked about. Do you think they spoke or do
- 52:59you think they just kind of walked around in silence?
- 53:01I think that one shot we. Had of them in the woods where
- 53:03he goes Are you sure we're going the right way and she goes yes I
- 53:07think that's all they said in that time this is just so
- 53:09awkward I. Think she tried to make small.
- 53:11Talk initially, and he made it very clear that he was not going
- 53:14to talk with her. El Paso, huh?
- 53:16And. He's like shut the fuck.
- 53:18Up. She's like, all right.
- 53:19Yep. Yep.
- 53:20So they get there and like you said, it's night.
- 53:22And he's like, all right, I'm gonna go in.
- 53:24And she's like, what about my friends?
- 53:25He goes, I don't give a shit. Yeah, you're on your own.
- 53:28Yeah. I don't know why she's surprised
- 53:30by that. Well, I know Billy.
- 53:32He's still. Kind of working in your favorite
- 53:34there? Yeah, he's gonna confront
- 53:35things. If nothing else, he's a
- 53:37distraction. Yeah, exactly.
- 53:38Yeah. So he like heads inside.
- 53:41She continues to just like do her own thing.
- 53:43She finds Dean in the bear. Trap and he's like you got to go
- 53:47for help and she goes there's no help to go for I got to go
- 53:49inside and get the other two there's one good thing about
- 53:51this like the. Hopelessness.
- 53:53Yeah, like helplessness because you really can't go to anybody.
- 53:56Yeah, in this town, there's like this.
- 53:57Just population them. We cut to Bailey.
- 54:00She is tied up on a bed by Hoyt. She's got like a bar behind her
- 54:03back, so she can't really move her arms around very much.
- 54:06It looks really uncomfortable, she said.
- 54:07It was really uncomfortable. They're.
- 54:11Like behind the scenes shots. Of like, her being actually
- 54:13like, tied up and then giving her like, water and oh, God,
- 54:16yeah, man, they went through it in this.
- 54:18Movie. Well, Matt Bomer was.
- 54:19Actually tied to that table too. Yeah, I don't like that.
- 54:22Yeah, that guy for a claustrophobic.
- 54:25Guy, he went through some shit. Yeah, he's dedicated.
- 54:27Man, Yeah, so Biker manages to get inside.
- 54:33He's got an actual name, but it's never said out loud, so I'm
- 54:35not going to bother you to say it out loud.
- 54:36Yeah, I can't remember what. It was.
- 54:38I can't remember if. It's Lee if that was the
- 54:40character's name or the actor's name.
- 54:42But Lee is one of the names associated with this man.
- 54:46OK. Yeah, like she, she, Chrissy
- 54:51enters through the window. She's like, she goes inside to
- 54:53try and rescue people. And while this is happening, the
- 54:57biker kind of sneaks around the corner and confronts the uncle.
- 55:02Yeah, Monty. And he shoots his leg, shoots
- 55:04him right in the knee. He's like, yeah.
- 55:05Where the fuck are they? Yeah.
- 55:07And I told her I. Was like, I felt kind of like
- 55:08caught to The Time Machine where I was just, like waiting the
- 55:10whole time. With this movie, I was like,
- 55:12what's gonna happen? When's he gonna lose him?
- 55:14Like Lou, like Chew, Like yeah. Yeah.
- 55:18Hoyt comes in and he's like, what did I tell you?
- 55:24About playing with guns. And he's like blaming it on him.
- 55:27And then the biker just like knocks his cap off and just
- 55:29holds a gun to his head. He says take me to the girl.
- 55:32And Hoyt, understandably, takes him to Bailey.
- 55:36Yeah, that's the only alive girl he has.
- 55:38And when the biker's like, that's not her.
- 55:40And he goes, oh, you don't want to see the other one.
- 55:42Oh yeah, I love that. Bit of back and he's like oh
- 55:44shit, you don't want to see the other girl.
- 55:46Yeah. And that's something that they
- 55:47were. Saying that, like, as scary as
- 55:48his character is, the actor army brings just a sense of Comic
- 55:54Relief almost to he honestly does.
- 55:56He's got some. Funny moments the.
- 55:59Duality of his character is very interesting and very well
- 56:02performed. Yeah, so.
- 56:06Hoyt is calling for Leatherface, and that's when Chrissy is
- 56:08managing to sneak down into the basement.
- 56:10This is interesting. So they did that sliding steel
- 56:12door because it's meant to mirror like the slaughterhouse
- 56:15shoot when the cows come out. Oh really?
- 56:17It's that same kind of slaughter like sliding metal door?
- 56:20Huh, I didn't know that. No, but that's that's where the.
- 56:23Iconic sliding door comes from interesting yeah she's.
- 56:26Like down there next to it. And Leatherface is so distracted
- 56:29and, like one track mind, he just walks right past her.
- 56:32Yeah. So she goes into the basement
- 56:34and finds Eric. He has been flayed.
- 56:37God, yeah, like the. Skin from his arm is missing and
- 56:41he. Says, is my arm OK?
- 56:42I can't feel it. I'm very cold.
- 56:45These are bad. These are bad things to hear.
- 56:48Yep. Those are signs you're dying.
- 56:49Yeah. And.
- 56:50So they have their heartfelt moment.
- 56:52He is almost dead. Leather face comes down and
- 56:54finishes the killing because he's got a blood lust.
- 56:56Because what happened is when Hoyt called him upstairs, he
- 57:01threw the biker onto his chainsaw.
- 57:05He just, Yeah, he like. Hit him and he happened to land
- 57:07right on the chainsaw, which why was the chainsaw there?
- 57:09Why was it not in leather faces? Where?
- 57:11I don't know. Yeah.
- 57:12But the main point that we're getting at is that in this
- 57:17timeline, canonically, the bikers, the first chainsaw kill,
- 57:21Yeah, cuz he pulls, pulls it, starts it up, and it cuts them
- 57:24in half. Yeah, yeah.
- 57:26It's pretty cool, yeah. So yeah, he is feeling himself.
- 57:32He's feeling that moment. He's like, I'm gonna go kill
- 57:34this other guy downstairs. Oh I like this chance off thing.
- 57:36Yeah, it's kind of cool. So he goes in and he kills.
- 57:38Them as Chrissy is like hiding and watching and scared and then
- 57:43he cuts off Eric's face slash scalp because they make a whole
- 57:48mess that like fits over him completely.
- 57:50And I like how he's like trying to measure his face, like he's
- 57:53like grabbing and he's like, yeah.
- 57:54And then he like holds it up to his own face.
- 57:55He's like, I think I can make this work.
- 57:57This is about right, Yeah. Like eyeball this shit right
- 58:00here. Yeah.
- 58:01He's never. Done this before?
- 58:02Yeah. First time.
- 58:03It's like when you're trying to like measure.
- 58:04How far apart something needs to be.
- 58:05And you're like, OK, this far apart.
- 58:07And then we're going to go over here and it's this far apart and
- 58:09you're just like using your fingers and like it's about
- 58:10this, not this long, honestly, what we're seeing here and this
- 58:13is. The origin, like he had this
- 58:14passion of like doing me and now he's like, you know what?
- 58:16I think I'm going to be a crafts guy now.
- 58:18Yeah, yeah, I'm going to make shit.
- 58:20He's like I was forced. Into an early retirement.
- 58:22I need a hobby to keep me keep me focused.
- 58:25Say you go downhill if you. Don't find that thing for
- 58:27yourself, yeah? He's too young.
- 58:29He's only like 30. Yeah, he's, he's in his fucking
- 58:32primary. Yeah, yeah, he's going to find
- 58:34a. Hobby so.
- 58:35Yeah. Chrissy goes back upstairs and
- 58:38she is about to leave when she hears Bailey screaming and she's
- 58:41like, it would be a lot. Easier to just leave.
- 58:44But I'll go try and help help her.
- 58:47Yep. So she.
- 58:48Heads back and she heads upstairs and she sees the family
- 58:52up there and they're. They're discussing what they're
- 58:55going to do with Uncle Monty here.
- 58:57Yeah. And this is where Luda Mae.
- 58:58Is telling Hoyt like I knew that you doing this sheriff nonsense
- 59:01is gonna be trouble. Look what happened to Monty.
- 59:03He's like, listen, I got a plan. Thomas, You come here.
- 59:06I like your face. Yeah, I like that new face.
- 59:08That looks good. Look at sharp, buddy.
- 59:11He's like, all right. There's no way for us to fix
- 59:13this. We don't even have cops in this
- 59:16town besides me. Obviously we don't have a
- 59:18hospital, there are no towns. Anywhere else in this country,
- 59:22yes, we are abandoned, so he says, Mama.
- 59:26Hold Uncle Monty and she's like, why?
- 59:27And he goes cuz he's not going to like this.
- 59:29And again, she is horrified but just follows along.
- 59:32Yep. And Thomas cuts off his leg,
- 59:36Nick's the other one. And Hoyt says, well, that's just
- 59:40sloppy work. We got to even this up.
- 59:43And so he cuts off the other one and he's like, all right,
- 59:45bandage him up. And that's when they put the
- 59:46butcher paper on there. Yep.
- 59:49And so. Chrissy is trying to untie
- 59:52Bailey, and Bailey stops fighting.
- 59:54She goes, they know you're here 'cause Hoy has snuck up behind
- 59:56her. He's like, oh, I guess we can.
- 59:58Make another plate for dinner, I'll ask mom about it.
- 1:00:01So here we go. We had a dinner scene.
- 1:00:04God damn. It could do without these, man.
- 1:00:06Yeah, I do. It's.
- 1:00:08Never interesting. Chrissy is a little feisty.
- 1:00:10She is insulting them, trying to get some gabs in.
- 1:00:13Yeah, asking them if they only fucked.
- 1:00:15The attractive cousins, Yeah. Don't like the stereotype.
- 1:00:18Yeah, still, you know, whatever. It's the thing.
- 1:00:22Mom is just sitting there cutting Bailey's hair.
- 1:00:25Yeah. Just for fun, just for.
- 1:00:27Fun Dean is there. May or may not be alive, Mama
- 1:00:30says. Yeah, Mama says she's says he's
- 1:00:32dead. Bailey's teeth have been knocked
- 1:00:34out at some point as well, so there's just a lot going on.
- 1:00:40Leatherface comes in cuts, Bailey's throat.
- 1:00:42They made this prosthetic. Normally with a neck prosthetic,
- 1:00:45they make it pretty thin because you know if your neck is thick,
- 1:00:48it's kind of noticeable. But they shot it from certain
- 1:00:51angles. That way it wouldn't look extra
- 1:00:52thick. But when you got the cut, it
- 1:00:54would like show the depth of the cut.
- 1:00:56It was a pretty effective. One, yeah.
- 1:00:59Yes, she bleeds out and then. Leatherface sticks Chrissy and
- 1:01:02carries her to the basement. She managed to grab like a
- 1:01:04screwdriver. Or something on the table and
- 1:01:06she stabs him as they're walking and then she runs and does what
- 1:01:11you do when you are escaping. A Texas Chainsaw mask for dinner
- 1:01:14scene. You go through the window.
- 1:01:17How many? Times do you think they have to
- 1:01:19replace those fucking windows? Why do they?
- 1:01:20Why do they keep replacing the? Windows just Yeah, just where
- 1:01:24are they? Getting the glass.
- 1:01:25Like, well, they're well. Honestly, OK, it does hurt and
- 1:01:29it does maybe slow them down. So if you leave it like purely
- 1:01:32open like well, we're just giving them an easy out at this
- 1:01:34point. Also if you.
- 1:01:35Put plywood up there that can't burst through that as easily.
- 1:01:40You need natural white man. Come on.
- 1:01:42They're not like, I mean, they're DeGeneres, but they're
- 1:01:44not that bad. Yeah, Thomas, it's very
- 1:01:47important. As part of his treatment plan is
- 1:01:48that he gets plenty of vitamin D.
- 1:01:49He's got it. He needs it for his skin.
- 1:01:51Exactly. I mean, it's already.
- 1:01:52In a not good place, so Leatherface.
- 1:01:56Follows her. Dean actually manages to come
- 1:02:00too, and he gets himself loose. He runs, he attacks, Hoyt just
- 1:02:05bashes his fucking face against like, give me 20 son.
- 1:02:08Yeah, smashes. His face 20.
- 1:02:10Times and we see his teeth fall out.
- 1:02:12So those are the missing teeth in the last one the chase leads
- 1:02:17to. The slaughterhouse, of course,
- 1:02:20as it does. And it takes.
- 1:02:21As it always does, yeah. Chrissy takes.
- 1:02:24The boss's keys, she finds them inside there.
- 1:02:27Yeah, the phone is dead, but she.
- 1:02:28Was like, well, at least I can find a way out.
- 1:02:31She is hiding because Leatherface is approached.
- 1:02:33He's very easy to hear. Because of the chainsaw.
- 1:02:36Yeah. And the bigness.
- 1:02:38Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:02:39And she's hiding and then he's getting close, almost finds her.
- 1:02:42And then we hear Dean yelling for Chrissy, which is
- 1:02:45distraction. So she.
- 1:02:46Jumps up, she stabs him. He comes out.
- 1:02:48Leatherface with an axe. But of course Leatherface is
- 1:02:52going to get the last laugh with that chainsaws right through
- 1:02:55them. Holds them up and then tosses
- 1:02:57them to the side. Yep.
- 1:02:59So while. This is happening.
- 1:03:01Chrissy runs, she manages to sneak out to a car and she
- 1:03:07drives. Yep.
- 1:03:09And she drives. As she's driving, she sees a cop
- 1:03:11has pulled somebody over and she's like, perfect, here we go.
- 1:03:15This is. Exactly what I needed.
- 1:03:16And somehow leather faces in the back seat of this car.
- 1:03:19How did he get so how did that? Happen.
- 1:03:21How did he do? So silent.
- 1:03:22How did he? Hide.
- 1:03:23He's a massive human. Yes, I.
- 1:03:26Agree with all of these. I wish that one of the alternate
- 1:03:29endings or the extended endings had shown him like Sneak.
- 1:03:33Yeah, I would have like to have seen that.
- 1:03:34Because there's like one ending where?
- 1:03:36It just shows that he catches her at the car and then it cuts
- 1:03:38to over the next few years, the people go missing and calling
- 1:03:42the cops and we see like their car graveyard growing.
- 1:03:45But all the other endings are with him in the back seat.
- 1:03:49And we never really get a good explanation as to how are we
- 1:03:51going to talk about the rest of the endings here in a.
- 1:03:52Little bit. I mean because one.
- 1:03:54Of them has to family. From yeah the the 2003 movie.
- 1:03:58That's the one I was talking about.
- 1:04:00Yeah, which I thought that was cool, like.
- 1:04:02OK, well Next up is that family and they take her hostage and
- 1:04:06you know, I kind of wish that we had gotten the.
- 1:04:07Ending we got plus that instead of the instead of the voice over
- 1:04:12narration I kind of like watched that I kind of liked watching
- 1:04:15that build up of the graveyard and everything it was
- 1:04:18interesting they were talking about this they're.
- 1:04:19Like well they shot like 3 different ones and one of them
- 1:04:22all, instead of the chainsaw he has like a knife and like well
- 1:04:24what if like he just like guts are there and they're like, I
- 1:04:27don't know, just with everyone you think is best and like well
- 1:04:29you got to go with a chainsaw because it's the Texas chainsaw.
- 1:04:32Massacre and this. Movie was already kind of
- 1:04:33lacking chainsaw. The beginning math.
- 1:04:36So yeah, he kills her. And every single ending, she
- 1:04:39dies because this is the origin story.
- 1:04:41We can't have her surviving. She also hits the cop and the
- 1:04:45person he pulled over, and then he just walks slowly away.
- 1:04:48Yeah. And.
- 1:04:50We get the voice over and it's like and from 1969 to 19. 73 The
- 1:04:54Hewitt family murdered at least 33 people across Texas, one of
- 1:04:59the largest killing spree is in history that came to be known as
- 1:05:04the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Can you imagine?
- 1:05:06Imagine driving down. That road and like all of a
- 1:05:09sudden your headlights find this massive man covered in blood
- 1:05:12with a chainsaw. It is pure dark out.
- 1:05:15There he walks into pure blackness.
- 1:05:17Out there, this is like one of those.
- 1:05:19Like the creepy YouTube videos we watch where they talk about
- 1:05:22like, Oh yeah, this person was driving alone at night and then
- 1:05:24they came across something on the road and yeah, dash Cam.
- 1:05:27Oh. My God, that's what we need.
- 1:05:28And. Like whatever new Texas chainsaw
- 1:05:31dash Cam? Yes.
- 1:05:32Hell yeah. Let's do this.
- 1:05:33All right. So yeah, I think that's.
- 1:05:35Overall, I think that's what some of the Texas Chainsaw
- 1:05:38needs. It's just like.
- 1:05:40Shake up the formula a little bit.
- 1:05:42So the. Most recent one, yes.
- 1:05:46But I'd like we need more of that throughout, kind of like,
- 1:05:49again, got to go back to wrong turn, like different ways that
- 1:05:52people wind up here. And it doesn't always start off
- 1:05:55like the chain of events aren't always kicked off the same way.
- 1:05:57We don't always have a dinner scene.
- 1:05:58Like we need to mix it up. I agree.
- 1:06:00Yeah, so, but not in the way that we will with Leatherface.
- 1:06:06I'm excited for the next one. Yeah, which will be a little.
- 1:06:09Bit different. What do you?
- 1:06:10Think of yeah, yes, I'm very excited about that one.
- 1:06:14But yeah, so overall, I really like this movie.
- 1:06:18I think it's well done. I think it's interesting.
- 1:06:22There's more depth and nuance to the characters in this.
- 1:06:24Yeah, and I'm keeping it at an 8.
- 1:06:28I think it's a solid 1. And I might start countering
- 1:06:32some of your Texas Chainsaw suggestions with this one.
- 1:06:34Now that I remember what happens in it.
- 1:06:36I'll always stick you up on that.
- 1:06:37OK, like I I don't hate this movie.
- 1:06:39It's just, I think I guess a horror movie.
- 1:06:42It's good. I like it.
- 1:06:43But like, as a Texas Chainsaw movie, not so much.
- 1:06:47I mean, you know, like, again, like I was saying, like it it
- 1:06:49kind of does lack the chainsaw part.
- 1:06:51Like, we're going to show how he gets it, but he's not going to
- 1:06:54use it that much. You know what I mean?
- 1:06:56It takes a long time for him to finally bust that thing out.
- 1:06:58Yeah. And it's mostly the the Sheriff
- 1:07:03show. Yeah.
- 1:07:04This time around, the Weather Face doesn't really have a whole
- 1:07:06lot to do. I don't know, Like, it's OK.
- 1:07:09Like, you know, I got, I have a good time watching it.
- 1:07:12It's just I don't love it. Holden is the.
- 1:07:15Biker's name. I just remembered Holden.
- 1:07:17Holden. There we go, I'm keeping.
- 1:07:19Mine at 6 1/2. OK, so you want more?
- 1:07:22Chainsaw. You want more Chainsaw I?
- 1:07:24Don't need everything to be explained.
- 1:07:26And yeah, I just wanted to be more of a Texas Chainsaw movie,
- 1:07:30OK? You know, like, I like
- 1:07:32Leatherface. Like, I wanted to see
- 1:07:34Leatherface have it's time to shine.
- 1:07:36Well, Talia. Didn't especially love the way
- 1:07:38this opened up. Talia's a big fan of cows.
- 1:07:41She has been embraced by the cows.
- 1:07:43She is one of them. She did not like that.
- 1:07:45We started off with the slaughterhouse scene.
- 1:07:47So she immediately wanted to go outside and when she came back
- 1:07:50in she was like anxiety licking Travis.
- 1:07:53She fell asleep. So she's not having a great
- 1:07:55time. I think she's.
- 1:07:56Going to give this A5. Yeah, it's just it was stressful
- 1:07:59for her five because she if she. Were them, she would just keep
- 1:08:02drive. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:05Sounds like drive. Exactly.
- 1:08:07Yeah. Who is Zoe?
- 1:08:09'S ultimate warrior. Let's see.
- 1:08:15That's tough. I think.
- 1:08:18Man, we can't do Leatherface again, can we?
- 1:08:22Have we done Leatherface for her?
- 1:08:25I think. Last time we did somebody else
- 1:08:28in the 2003 one, I think, I think we gave her the possum.
- 1:08:33In the 2003 one, we might have given her the pause.
- 1:08:36Yeah, I think she kind of relates to the sheriff's whole
- 1:08:41thing of like, you gotta do what you gotta do to eat.
- 1:08:43And she does like to bite. She does like to bite.
- 1:08:46Yeah, all. Right.
- 1:08:48Wait. Wait, wait.
- 1:08:50OK. All right, now, who did you
- 1:08:52relate to? Oh boy.
- 1:08:55This is tricky. It's like I said, I've got that
- 1:08:57like protection, that sense of protection over our nieces and
- 1:09:01nephews, but I'm not a cannibal. So well you can relate to
- 1:09:05certain. Aspects of the character, not
- 1:09:07the whole thing I guess, but I think.
- 1:09:10I'd also need to man. This is hard.
- 1:09:15I think I'm. Just going to relate to tea
- 1:09:16lady. Like I just want to enjoy my
- 1:09:18nice beverages and not get pulled into my friend's family
- 1:09:22drama. Yeah, that's that's all I.
- 1:09:25That's all I. Want.
- 1:09:25I think that's fair. Just like ignore.
- 1:09:27The shit that's happening right there, I'm really good at
- 1:09:31compartmentalizing. I think I related to Dean's.
- 1:09:34Whole thing, like, the whole, like I, I've, I'm lucky to have
- 1:09:39not lived in a time where drafting was the thing that I
- 1:09:43would have had to have gone through.
- 1:09:46But like, if that would have happened to me, I don't know if
- 1:09:50I would have handled that any better than he did.
- 1:09:52You know, like, I don't want to go to war.
- 1:09:54Yeah, I'm not. Like I'm not.
- 1:09:57Into that whole thing. Maybe Mexico sounds pretty good,
- 1:10:01you know? Yeah.
- 1:10:02Like, I don't know, like it. It's a it's an interesting
- 1:10:05thing. It's a scary.
- 1:10:07Thing to be. Called for that, Yeah, it really
- 1:10:10isn't after like abandoned. Everything.
- 1:10:12Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:10:13Terrifying. All right, so we don't.
- 1:10:15Do dream sequel for these? No, but we do need to come up
- 1:10:19with an alternate title. So clearly The Biker 1 doesn't
- 1:10:23do. Anything for you Yeah the biker
- 1:10:251 does not work for me and I've. Tried to say the draft.
- 1:10:27Dodger one, but that's still I always think that it's the. 2003
- 1:10:31one because I get the two blonde boys mixed up.
- 1:10:33So what's the thing about this movie?
- 1:10:34That stood out the most you dumpster baby.
- 1:10:38What's that? No.
- 1:10:39OK. This is iced coffee.
- 1:10:42Listen, I'm going to do a 2 for. One alternate title slash
- 1:10:46tagline. Thomas Hewitt's No Good, Awful,
- 1:10:50Very Bad Day. That is all of them.
- 1:10:53But this is like the. Original really bad day for him
- 1:10:55that turns him into a killer. This is this is his Russell
- 1:10:59Crowe moment. This is his Chroman.
- 1:11:03OK, whoa. We gotta work that in there.
- 1:11:06Like it's gotta be like Russell Crowe, the Russell Crowe 1.
- 1:11:14We'll just say it's the Russell Crowe one, the Russell Crowe one
- 1:11:17whenever you put. Up the like visual aid at the
- 1:11:20end of our series like and this one's called the Russell Crowe 1
- 1:11:25people that. Haven't been listening to.
- 1:11:26This you're going to be like, what the fuck is Russell Crowe
- 1:11:29for anybody else that. Just further muddies like the
- 1:11:33whole thing but for you, you're not doing this for other people
- 1:11:36we're. Doing this for me it clears it
- 1:11:37up for you in. Some weird way, but would that
- 1:11:40actually work for you though? The Russell Crowe one?
- 1:11:42Listen, the more neurons that. You can get to connect to
- 1:11:45something helps with memory, like you have to have multiple
- 1:11:48ways of remembering a certain fact figure, moment, things like
- 1:11:52that. So if we can tie Russell Crowe
- 1:11:54into this, yes it will help my brain psychology bitch.
- 1:11:57Can I also say the Lou Temple one?
- 1:11:58Too. Yes, because he's like,
- 1:12:00definitely not in any of the other ones.
- 1:12:02He's only in this one. Hold on.
- 1:12:05Yeah. Temple of.
- 1:12:06The Crow. There we go, Temple of the.
- 1:12:08Crow There's a good movie title right there.
- 1:12:11I want to watch that. And it's got to star Lou Temple
- 1:12:14and Russell Crowe, and they just improvised the whole thing.
- 1:12:17Let's just make that the Tag 1 Temple.
- 1:12:18Of the crow. That doesn't make any sense,
- 1:12:22but. He listened to the episode.
- 1:12:24He'll get it. Yeah.
- 1:12:25Listen. Whatever.
- 1:12:27I don't know what tagline Travis is going to pick between Temple
- 1:12:29of the Crow and Thomas Hugh. It's no good, awful, very bad
- 1:12:33day that it. It'll be a tough one.
- 1:12:35Yeah, whatever he ends up. Putting on the artwork this
- 1:12:38week, I'll. I'll have to fill that one out
- 1:12:39with my. Heart.
- 1:12:40Yeah, he's, he's going to have to.
- 1:12:42Feel it deep in his heart. Temple of the Crow.
- 1:12:46I could just be the subtitle. For this movie too.
- 1:12:50OK. WWDD What would Vin Diesel do?
- 1:12:54What would Don do? There is an OV in what I'm.
- 1:12:57Saying I don't know why I'm hearing that.
- 1:12:59Well, OK, so clearly this sum is personal because this family, it
- 1:13:03is family then he is in there that.
- 1:13:05Could not have happened to. A better movie and better
- 1:13:07character. Having Mia there, his own baby
- 1:13:10sister, yes. So OK, I've got.
- 1:13:12Head. Cannon here.
- 1:13:13OK, Takes place like further back in time.
- 1:13:15This is Mom. It's Reno, Mia took after Mama
- 1:13:19hard. So this is Mama, Yes, This is
- 1:13:22why cuz we've never. Seen Mama in the franchise yet?
- 1:13:24Never. So this is gonna be a whole new
- 1:13:26thing. It's Mama to read them.
- 1:13:28So yeah. She's.
- 1:13:29There she finds out why Dom and. Jacob, don't talk to.
- 1:13:34Mama anymore, even though they don't talk to each other,
- 1:13:36neither of them talks to Mama either.
- 1:13:38Yeah. And she gets trapped.
- 1:13:41And Dom's like, this is my mom, this extrapersonal double
- 1:13:44family. And he gets the gang together,
- 1:13:48and they have to fight the bikers first, which is great
- 1:13:51because Letty has switched over to a motorcycle.
- 1:13:53Canonically, yes. So she manages to impress the
- 1:13:58bikers so much by kicking some ass.
- 1:14:00This is also the beginning. Of her getting the bike thing OK
- 1:14:05like they're like. They ride.
- 1:14:06And then they're like, she's like, we need another vehicle
- 1:14:09and they're like to take a bike knocks out one of the bikers.
- 1:14:11Takes their bikes, the bikers respect them.
- 1:14:13Leave them alone after that. So they're like, OK, we want no
- 1:14:15part of family. Yes, they family, family,
- 1:14:19family. Family, family.
- 1:14:21You know what we just did? Made $10 billion.
- 1:14:24Boom. Yeah.
- 1:14:28We're getting weird. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:14:30And then? Yeah, they like.
- 1:14:32They sneak in and then they they.
- 1:14:35Get the cars to work. Yeah, they get the cars, they
- 1:14:37get the tow. Truck to work.
- 1:14:39The fact that the door is not shutting is not a problem at
- 1:14:41all. They're able to swing in after
- 1:14:44Bailey gets split out, they swing in.
- 1:14:46They get the tow truck. They having the door that
- 1:14:48doesn't. Close properly makes it a lot
- 1:14:51easier to get on top of a moving vehicle Exactly yeah, that's how
- 1:14:54you got to do it yeah yeah. So they're you're.
- 1:14:56Able to stop like the whole dinner scene and everything from
- 1:14:59happening cuz they just drive through the house.
- 1:15:02Yeah, through the window. They do it reverse.
- 1:15:04Instead of going through the window out of the house, they go
- 1:15:06through the window into the house to rescue.
- 1:15:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then they pick a.
- 1:15:10Mama Trello and they. Drive off into the sunset.
- 1:15:12Yeah, Mama, Trello is gonna. Break good instead of break bad.
- 1:15:17Yeah, and. The Hewitt's have their own BBQ.
- 1:15:21There's like a juxtaposition here.
- 1:15:23They have their BBQ with some human flesh, and then meanwhile
- 1:15:26the Toritos are having their BBQ with their Coronas.
- 1:15:29Yeah, and Mama. Looks a little like freaked out
- 1:15:33by like cow meat instead of human meat.
- 1:15:35Yeah, OK. OK, we did it all right.
- 1:15:37Now we can do a review. All righty OK, I'm glad I picked
- 1:15:43this one after hearing some of your thoughts.
- 1:15:46So this is a one point O I'm not going to read the whole thing,
- 1:15:50but I'm going to pick up this little part.
- 1:15:52The contradictions in this are appalling.
- 1:15:54For instance, leather faces one bad mother.
- 1:15:56He's huge, he's powerful. List one guy up off the ground
- 1:15:59impaled on a chainsaw and he causes the ground to shake when
- 1:16:02he walks, yet he hides in a car. He can't be seen by a passing
- 1:16:06vehicle and his stealth like nature allows for a very stupid
- 1:16:09and very gory finale that perhaps gives this it's wretched
- 1:16:11fraud, the only genuine feeling of originality it deserves.
- 1:16:15It's original in this, but it's also very, very stupid.
- 1:16:18This movie is fairly pointless. Wait, wasn't the actual sheriff?
- 1:16:21Well, there's a shocker. Gee, could a man in a dead town
- 1:16:24be pretending to be a sheriff? Or that leather face has birth
- 1:16:28defects? Or that his mother gave birth to
- 1:16:30him on the floor of the slaughterhouse as she was dying?
- 1:16:33Yeah, this was 1 grotesque scene.
- 1:16:34I can't even imagine someone being proud of producing that
- 1:16:37scene, let alone choosing to keep it in the movie.
- 1:16:40And he found a home away from home in the confines of a
- 1:16:42slaughterhouse. I'm of course off on a tangent
- 1:16:44here, but literally, there's nothing in this movie.
- 1:16:47Nothing at all. Simply put, this is a rehashing
- 1:16:49of the remade Texas Chainsaw Massacre repackage is a
- 1:16:52beginning chapter that simply was not needed.
- 1:16:54If you want to see a Leatherface, do yourself a favor
- 1:16:56and watch the DVD of the remake. It makes more sense than paying
- 1:16:58money to go to the theater and watch the same movie for an
- 1:17:01inflated price. Yeah, I get that.
- 1:17:03Yeah, I mean. I get what they were trying to
- 1:17:05do and try and make like a continuation, but I mean, it
- 1:17:07really was just like, and here's more of that, you know, they
- 1:17:11didn't really do much different except they just, I don't, I
- 1:17:15feel like Weatherface was a better presence than the 2003
- 1:17:18one, than the 2006 one. I'm still not.
- 1:17:22Mad about him just having to like watching him become
- 1:17:25unhinged. Like I get your point.
- 1:17:27Like you don't need the origin story.
- 1:17:29Like you're happy with just living in the universe as it is
- 1:17:32and accepting it as it is. I like that, I thought.
- 1:17:34That that was more effective, like without having to see
- 1:17:37things play out, like just have it like be understood like and
- 1:17:40let your head fill in the rest. I think that that's I think
- 1:17:45that's more effective. OK.
- 1:17:47Personally, did we have any listener?
- 1:17:49Reviews pop up. Let me check we.
- 1:17:51Didn't by the time I was checking originally, but I
- 1:17:54posted this kind of weight last night.
- 1:17:56Oh, we've our poll has changed. We've had 82% of people saying
- 1:18:02Pearl has X Factor and 18% now station doesn't.
- 1:18:06Yeah, All right, so nothing there.
- 1:18:10No, we don't got any. Don't got any?
- 1:18:12Don't got any. OK, Don't got none.
- 1:18:14Hold up. This is Travis here by.
- 1:18:17Himself, I am reading a review that we received after the
- 1:18:21recording. Unfortunately, I don't have
- 1:18:23Jesse here with me at the moment to read this along with me, but
- 1:18:26I figured I'd go ahead throw in this little review.
- 1:18:29That way we have something here for the listener reviews.
- 1:18:31So thank you for sending this in.
- 1:18:33This one came in from Mernie. I hope I am saying that name
- 1:18:39right. If I have been saying that name
- 1:18:41wrong this entire time please let me know because I I don't
- 1:18:44want to be wrong about that. She says not as good as the 2003
- 1:18:48remake but still decent and I agree.
- 1:18:51That's exactly what I've been saying the entire episode.
- 1:18:54It's it's OK. It's not the worst one.
- 1:18:57It's by far not the worst one. It's one of the better ones.
- 1:19:02It's one of the gooder ones I'll call Gooder.
- 1:19:04It's it's gooder than the other ones.
- 1:19:06But yeah, I just, it doesn't really do it for me like it does
- 1:19:10for other people, man. Like I the 2003 one just beats
- 1:19:14it by a lot. And it's really hard not to draw
- 1:19:16comparisons between the two when they're pretty similar movies of
- 1:19:20overall. So.
- 1:19:21All right, well, thanks for sending that in.
- 1:19:23I wanted to get this in here. All right, now let's send it
- 1:19:26back to the normal recording. I guess that's it.
- 1:19:30For this next week, Travis's birthday week.
- 1:19:35That's right. Which means it's gonna be his
- 1:19:36movie. I don't know if you know what it
- 1:19:39is yet and you're ready to reveal, or if you want it to be
- 1:19:41a surprise when we post the schedule later.
- 1:19:44I think I know what it is. What is it I've been going over
- 1:19:47in my head? I believe that it is going to be
- 1:19:53the strangers. OK.
- 1:19:55OK, that's a very good one, cuz I love that movie.
- 1:19:58Yeah, that's so good. Yeah.
- 1:20:00That's actually funny because my mom and I were talking, she
- 1:20:04still hasn't seen like Eating because I described it so much
- 1:20:08in the episode about how tense it makes me and she thinks The
- 1:20:11Strangers is one of the scariest movies she's ever seen.
- 1:20:14Like it's really fucking good, man.
- 1:20:15Yeah, it's like that tension and she.
- 1:20:17Was just like, I'm just ready for it to be over already and I
- 1:20:19get that feeling from it. I can watch the strangers a
- 1:20:22little bit more easily than like Eden, but not much more easily.
- 1:20:24A lot of times on Travis wants to watch the strangers.
- 1:20:26I'm like, but what if we watch pray at night and I rarely get
- 1:20:29to watch the. Strangers.
- 1:20:30Because Jesse never really feels it.
- 1:20:32It is. That's the whole point.
- 1:20:34That's why it's good. And then Dennis Reynolds.
- 1:20:36Is there for some reason even better?
- 1:20:38That's icing. On the cake right there.
- 1:20:41OK, so. Watch the Strangers.
- 1:20:44Let's see, we're streaming well. It'll be a different month.
- 1:20:47Oh, yeah, you're right. Yeah, OK.
- 1:20:48Never mind though. Yeah, just.
- 1:20:50Keep an eye out for it. Yeah, I'm sure it'll be
- 1:20:52somewhere. It usually is.
- 1:20:54And of course, obviously we were talking about the.
- 1:20:55Original Yeah here. Not Chapter 1 or pray at night.
- 1:20:58Yeah, Chapter 2's coming out later this year.
- 1:21:00Yeah, true. I'm excited for them.
- 1:21:02Yeah, I think they had to do extensive.
- 1:21:03Reshoots. Yeah.
- 1:21:05So supposed to come out last year.
- 1:21:07All three of them were supposed to come.
- 1:21:09Out last year, yeah. So I'm interested to see what
- 1:21:12they end up doing with it. But me too.
- 1:21:13OK, in the meantime, this is, this is it, this is it for the
