- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, that's just some stuff to think about. We
- 0:13Speaker 1: finally know when Guermo del Toros Frankenstein will hit theaters
- 0:17Speaker 1: and Netflix. It takes a very special Netflix movie to
- 0:21Speaker 1: get theatrical release before hitting the streamer. Netflix just announced
- 0:26Speaker 1: it'll release the monster movie in select theaters on October seventeenth.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Well just in time for Halloween.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Halloween, Yeah, because my complaint was that they said, well,
- 0:35Speaker 1: we're not going to show it until November on Netflix.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Oh, come on, you guys.
- 0:40Speaker 1: There's no word yet on just how select the select
- 0:44Speaker 1: theaters are.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It might be New York and LA and that's.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Two screens, two thousand. We don't know. But if you
- 0:49Speaker 1: look at for example, glass onions and a glass onion
- 0:53Speaker 1: and knives out mystery, they had it in six hundred theaters.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So we'll see. This is uh, this is an interesting
- 1:03Speaker 1: little movie because they also talking to Guermo del Toro.
- 1:05Speaker 1: He has wanted to make this movie since he was
- 1:07Speaker 1: a kid. Ah, he has been a Frankenstein fan that
- 1:12Speaker 1: long he is. He has the book committed to memory Wow,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and he says that it's going to be more based
- 1:20Speaker 1: on the book than any movie has ever done.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And Oscar Isaac is uh.
- 1:25Speaker 1: He's doctor Frankenstin. Yes, And you know it's it's interesting
- 1:29Speaker 1: because you have an idea when you say Frankenstein's monster,
- 1:33Speaker 1: you have an idea in your head that pops up. Sure,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and it's usually the you know, green skin, flat top,
- 1:38Speaker 1: you know herman monster looking thing.
- 1:41Speaker 3: But Peter boy Peter Boyle's Peter Boyle.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But this is uh, this is Germo's take on it.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Ever since I started drawing the creature in the late
- 1:50Speaker 1: seventies and early eighties, I knew I didn't want symmetrical scars.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I didn't want sutures or clamps. What I thought was
- 2:00Speaker 1: very interesting was to make him like a jigsaw puzzle.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I wanted him to look beautiful.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Well, in the book, he's described as a handsome, a
- 2:08Speaker 2: handsome man.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, he says. I wanted him to look beautiful, like
- 2:11Speaker 1: a newborn thing. Because a lot of times Frankenstein steps
- 2:14Speaker 1: in the frame, he looks like an accident victim. But
- 2:17Speaker 1: Victor Frankenstein is as much an artist as he is
- 2:20Speaker 1: a surgeon, so the cuts he had to make they
- 2:24Speaker 1: had to make esthetic sense. I always thought about him
- 2:27Speaker 1: as made of alabaster. I never understood something about the
- 2:30Speaker 1: other versions, which is, why does Victor use so many
- 2:33Speaker 1: pieces from so many different bodies. Why doesn't he just
- 2:36Speaker 1: resurrect a guy who had a heart attack. And the
- 2:39Speaker 1: answer for me was, what if the bodies came from
- 2:41Speaker 1: the battlefield. Oh, then he needs to find a way
- 2:45Speaker 1: to bring the corpses together in a harmonious way. He says.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Almost nobody. Also, almost nobody shows the creation of the monster.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Everybody shows thunder and the monsters already put together. I thought,
- 2:59Speaker 1: if you following a rock star, you want to shoot
- 3:02Speaker 1: the concert. So instead of making it horrible that he's
- 3:06Speaker 1: putting all these pieces of bodies together, I made it
- 3:09Speaker 1: into a woltz. I made it into a into joyous
- 3:12Speaker 1: fun sort of a crazy concert. He's running around the
- 3:15Speaker 1: lab putting this body together, grabbing this part and placing
- 3:19Speaker 1: it together here or there.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Cool, I'm ready, there's some.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Awesome body horror stuff going on there.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, So there you go. I like I said,
- 3:29Speaker 1: he is the you know, the second he is. He's well,
- 3:33Speaker 1: he's the first biggest fan behind my friend Lee George Kid,
- 3:36Speaker 1: who is the second biggest fan.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Well, and I also heard him saying that he wanted
- 3:40Speaker 2: all practical effects in this.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Oh is that right?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't want any CG any all practical All right.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Now here's a question for you. Did we need an
- 3:52Speaker 1: Archie movie?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Now? Is it animated or live action?
- 3:57Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Oh okay.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I couldn't find a statement from the studio that said
- 4:03Speaker 1: whether it's animation or live action, and the filmmakers behind
- 4:07Speaker 1: it have done both animation and live action, because.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Like the TV shows live action, And then there's a
- 4:15Speaker 3: story this morning on our news service that said it
- 4:18Speaker 3: will be live action, but nowhere in the story doesn't
- 4:20Speaker 3: confirm that.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It just they just assume, and I haven't been able
- 4:24Speaker 1: to find any definitive Yes, it's live action, but it's
- 4:27Speaker 1: a Phil Lord and Chris Miller who do the Spider
- 4:30Speaker 1: Verse movies, but they've also done live action movies. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: here's the best part. The guy who is writing the script,
- 4:37Speaker 1: Tom King. He's a comic book writer. He is the
- 4:42Speaker 1: guy who made the vision interesting for me. I never
- 4:46Speaker 1: cared about that character until I read his take on
- 4:49Speaker 1: the vision, and he is an excellent comic book writer.
- 4:53Speaker 1: He's putting the script together. So there you go, whether
- 4:57Speaker 1: it's live action or a movie or what. I don't know,
- 4:59Speaker 1: but the question is did we need it? Archie fans,
- 5:06Speaker 1: there must be. I mean Riverdale was Bigdale. It ran
- 5:10Speaker 1: for quite a while, didn't.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I think that kind of left the source material though,
- 5:14Speaker 4: oh pretty far, absolutely into the series.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Now, one of the best games for you know, your
- 5:21Speaker 1: your various game systems is the Lego Games. You're always fun.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Lego Batman is returning in a new game packed with
- 5:31Speaker 1: bat nostalgia. It's called Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Night. Now,
- 5:35Speaker 1: this is the first time that Lego Batman has addressed
- 5:37Speaker 1: the Dark Knight and basically from what I saw of
- 5:41Speaker 1: the gameplay, it looks like those Dark Knight games, the
- 5:45Speaker 1: Kham games, the Arkham games one of my favorites, but
- 5:48Speaker 1: just with Legos. Yeah. But also you're going to get
- 5:53Speaker 1: to go through all the movies if you want, or
- 5:58Speaker 1: just side quests if you want. It's an open field.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You can do what you want.
- 6:01Speaker 2: So then is it Will Arnett voicing it?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Or then is it no?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Okay?
- 6:06Speaker 1: That's that's the other thing is that they've got somebody
- 6:08Speaker 1: else to do it. But it looks like a lot
- 6:12Speaker 1: of fun. It really does, and you know, so you
- 6:14Speaker 1: can you can go do stuff that was in the
- 6:17Speaker 1: Tim Burton movies. They've got the Penguin from the Tim
- 6:19Speaker 1: Burton movies there, They've got the Joker from the Dark
- 6:23Speaker 1: Knight movies there, you know, and they've got Classic Batman
- 6:27Speaker 1: as well, which is the one I'll be playing.
- 6:30Speaker 4: I mean, the funniest part is any original Arkham games,
- 6:32Speaker 4: the combat's really intense and violent. So to have Lego,
- 6:36Speaker 4: it's the exact same combat system, but with Lego people
- 6:39Speaker 4: fighting each other exactly.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So, and those are some of my favorite games.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they're amazing.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But so you go to Lego Batmangame dot Com right
- 6:46Speaker 1: now and you can take a look. And if you
- 6:49Speaker 1: sign up, you can unlock the Golden Age Batsuit, which
- 6:53Speaker 1: is the first Batman suit from Detective Comics number twenty
- 6:57Speaker 1: seven in nineteen thirty nine. Great with that, it's it's
- 7:00Speaker 1: got the big ears.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Okay, So.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Lego Batmangame dot Com is where you go to find it.
- 7:09Speaker 1: This looks like fun. Well I could count on Andrew
- 7:15Speaker 1: for finding Archie in the Gang Meet the Punisher comic book.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Oh my god, it was real.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Wow, it was real that happened.
- 7:26Speaker 3: That love it
