- 0:09Hello and welcome back to another episode of battered
- 0:11Laurencia. How are you all?
- 0:12Do you know if you're doing great?
- 0:14Now for today's episode, I want to talk about Jasmine
- 0:17Miserables. Adopted daughter.
- 0:19Jasmine is raining fire and brimstone on Mississippi.
- 0:24And in fact the whole family and her first of our friends.
- 0:27Now for some of you don't know Mr Ibu.
- 0:30John Okafor, the legendary comic actor.
- 0:34He has been sick. He lost one of his legs.
- 0:38Jasmine came online, cried out, singing for assistance because
- 0:41according to her, she's the only one foot in the medical bills.
- 0:44She's tired, she's broke. So Nigerians rallied around,
- 0:48helped raise money, and at the end of the day, one of his legs
- 0:53was cut off because Mr Abel had blood clots in one of his legs,
- 0:57and he was taken to a traditional medicine kind of
- 1:01people who made incisions caught on his legs, and that court was
- 1:06infected. He was flown to Lagos and his
- 1:08adopted daughter Jasmine took responsibility of the whole
- 1:11thing. Before then, Mr Iqbal and his
- 1:14family were having issues, which they came online.
- 1:17They added that then in public, before he even became sick, but
- 1:22when he became sick, they came together.
- 1:24Jasmine was kind of trying to help him revive his career.
- 1:28She was on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram.
- 1:31She did a lot. I mean, I I give kudos to her.
- 1:34She did a lot because anybody creating content would know how.
- 1:38It's not easy. Even if you see two minutes
- 1:41video online, it's not easy. A lot goes into that content
- 1:45before you see the finished product.
- 1:47So she did a lot for him and for the family.
- 1:51Now when he became sick, she said, according to Jasmine, She
- 1:54was one taking care of him and everything.
- 1:56And then she cried out online. Plus with the support of the
- 2:00wife, the braised lots of money according to Jasmine was over
- 2:04100 million naira that was raised and he couldn't, they
- 2:08couldn't fly. He said go abroad because they
- 2:10said he had his, you know, heart condition was they couldn't
- 2:15really fly him abroad because of the whole health challenges.
- 2:18When this whole thing was going on, Mississippi wanted access to
- 2:21the account. Now according to Jasmine, even
- 2:25before the whole thing they had separated, they were living
- 2:28apart. Mr Abel was living for over 2
- 2:32years. He never lived at home.
- 2:34He was in Abuja, sporting from one place to the other.
- 2:37People were taking care of him and the wife was just in Lagos.
- 2:42She was in the house. She was selling off all the cars
- 2:44in the house, in the house to raise funds to send their kids
- 2:47to school. According to Jasmine, one of the
- 2:50reasons why they were having issues was because Mr Abel was
- 2:53no longer working, so he wanted the kids to go to a less
- 2:57expensive school. But the woman was like, no, my
- 3:00kids will have to attend the school, get the money, she was
- 3:02telling off cars, selling off properties.
- 3:04At some point she sold the land she saw the launch was even
- 3:09demanding to sell the house that they were living in because
- 3:12according to her there was water leakage and everything.
- 3:15Anyway that was the whole issue going on online even when he
- 3:19said he was in the hospital. So when that money was raised,
- 3:23the money was paid into Mr. Evans account but his son was in
- 3:26charge of the account. Now the wife who they have
- 3:30according to me Jasmine, they they were already living
- 3:34separate but she came into the picture and wanted to have
- 3:38access to the account beside who said no that's the son should
- 3:42have access to the account. The wife was not happy about it
- 3:44because according to Jasmine she wanted taxes because she needed
- 3:48money, she need to do BBL. She needed to buy Brazilian
- 3:51hair. She dared to leave a baby girl
- 3:53life like she she said she's young and she needs to live her
- 3:57life and she needs money to do that.
- 3:59In fact at some point they said she wanted them to sell the
- 4:02house and settle her with 20 million or is it 25,000,000 so
- 4:06that she would just go on her own and he will go on his own.
- 4:09More like a divorce settlement. Basically Mr Abel, she would
- 4:13have sold the house according to the story but because she didn't
- 4:15have the the documents of the house she couldn't sell the
- 4:18house. She was trying to convince Mr
- 4:20Able to sell the house. At some point they wanted to
- 4:23sell the house before this whole health challenges started.
- 4:27Anyway, according to Jasmine she was doing everything she was
- 4:30feeding the family. The more the whole money they
- 4:32got from TikTok was sent to Mississippi.
- 4:35According to Jasmine, after they sold the land she needed some
- 4:38money to. I think after they gave out Evil
- 4:40over 1,000,000 naira she next 12,000 naira.
- 4:43So miserable was like why would you need 12,000 naira after I've
- 4:46given you 1,000,000 naira. That was when Miscible came out
- 4:49and cried online that Jasmine is dating her husband Jasmine.
- 4:56It was crazy. At the end of the day when we
- 4:58said he was in the hospital, they raised all this money.
- 5:00She wanted access to the to the account.
- 5:02She couldn't get access to the account.
- 5:04That was where she started making all those stories about
- 5:08Jasmine sleeping with him in Sibiu.
- 5:10Jasmine married Mr Ibu son. According to Jasmine, she said
- 5:13she was she wanted to travel so she was processing her visa.
- 5:16So she wanted to help the son. So they had to do a dependent
- 5:19visa. And for them to do a dependent
- 5:22visa, they have to, you know, Nigeria.
- 5:24Like anybody travelling in Nigeria, they know all these
- 5:26things. So even though the Mississippi
- 5:29wanted her to take one of her child, but she said the girl is
- 5:33grown, that there's no way she can convince people that this is
- 5:37her daughter. So I think that's kind of robbed
- 5:40Mississippi some kind of way. And then she came out online and
- 5:43was saying everything. Mississippi arrested Jasmine,
- 5:47saying that she stole, was it 300 million from the monies
- 5:51donated? According to Jasmine, all
- 5:53miscible wanted was access to the money because Missus, Mr
- 5:58Abel's son's second son, is the one in charge of the money, but
- 6:02she wanted full access so that she can be taking money out of
- 6:05the account. But they went to the police
- 6:07station. They can't.
- 6:08The police people kind of said, OK, we are going to be in charge
- 6:11of the accounts. Any money you want will give you
- 6:13the money from then on. According to Jasmine, Miscible
- 6:16has received over 25,000,000 from that money.
- 6:19She said she wanted to rent a place.
- 6:21They gave her 20 million. She rented a place with for 4
- 6:24million and then she used that money to buy Brazilian hair.
- 6:30Ohh God she she wasn't money began life.
- 6:35So now she she just said that she does not know why
- 6:38Mississippi is trying to blame her accuser of anything because
- 6:42she is not even the one in charge of the money that
- 6:45Mississippi brought police to arrest her.
- 6:47At the end of the day they checked everything.
- 6:49She did not take any. They couldn't trace any money
- 6:51into the account. But according to News Online
- 6:55police fear Rose said that they chased some money.
- 6:58Like I don't even know who is telling the truth.
- 7:01I think the police will come out and give us a public
- 7:04announcement, kind of what is going on.
- 7:08You know what is going on with this money, Who is to blame?
- 7:12Even Jasmine said that the police are tired because
- 7:14everyday Mississippi is going to the police to demand one thing
- 7:17or the other. Even when they were now in
- 7:19charge of the money. All she wants is just to have
- 7:23access to the money. According there is a phone where
- 7:25the online app is, where you could have access to that money.
- 7:29She wants to have access to that phone and that phone is with Mrs
- 7:34Mr Ableson. But she wants that phone.
- 7:38That is just what she wants. Anyway.
- 7:41What Jasmine is now saying is that they used her, they used
- 7:45body, do this, they did that. I am just going to play a clip
- 7:48from that video for you to see how she was ranting, raving and
- 7:53screaming. Now watch this.
- 7:56He was. He was sleeping.
- 7:57He was using crutches when he came came to Lagos.
- 8:00Even among my entire family were afraid when I brought him to the
- 8:03house. But I still took batteries.
- 8:05I think that was I asked him because the wife was talking
- 8:08about selling the property that he was supposed to sell before
- 8:11he travelled to Abuja. But you said you have.
- 8:14I said to her I was the one that called the best friend.
- 8:16I said please, if daddy is selling this house as the wife
- 8:20won't let him selling house. Let him and his wife reconcile.
- 8:23Let me come, let's reconcile these two people in our best
- 8:27way, because I am myself. I have plans to travel.
- 8:31I wanted to travel, already started processing my travel.
- 8:34I already done everything that they need to do for me to
- 8:37travel. Even before that he was sick.
- 8:39I think he said I cannot continue taking care of baby,
- 8:41that he cannot, but I cannot sit down and do it.
- 8:46The, the, the, this is what we're supposed to do.
- 8:48Look after him, cook for him what she's cooked and all of
- 8:50that. But I'll be friend with myself
- 8:54and his wife. Friend.
- 8:55Why? Because we have the conversation
- 8:57of the film. I still have that conversation.
- 8:59Even if I don't have that conversation, I'll follow you
- 9:01and change that conversation and get it.
- 9:04You got friend was not like, OK, I will talk to her, but she
- 9:07hasn't really told me that she's done with the marriage even
- 9:09though that he came back in that condition from Abuja station was
- 9:12not going to listen. I'm telling you, it's not so
- 9:14many months ago this was. Just tell me how many months ago
- 9:19this was on October 31st. Sick.
- 9:24I've already. I'm done with my travel.
- 9:27They know that my travel has nothing to do with this
- 9:29donation. Really.
- 9:32You know you don't need to travel with your own daughter.
- 9:35I told you that my child, he said he wanted to talk and I
- 9:39think I'm going to help you. If you interested you can be
- 9:42able to do that. I'm trying to use the initial
- 9:45money and travel where you know the truth and you have children
- 9:50and you know the truth guys. It was the person that didn't
- 9:57show. I took my husband to Abuja and
- 9:59took us back to where they used something and cut his life,
- 10:04anything about it. They didn't show you, did not
- 10:06give you one there. They've never come out and say
- 10:08ohh really lucky even funny show we are dragging me.
- 10:18We were chatting. Everyone remembers in the
- 10:20hospital he sent me that took him to the hospital.
- 10:23Really. One that took him to the
- 10:24hospital. When Boris came back from Abuja,
- 10:27you said you wanted them to sell their house and said to you I
- 10:31was going to discuss with. I thought that you and daddy we
- 10:33said to I took the house that he used to come to his own house.
- 10:38I took him to his house. You know that he begged that he
- 10:40didn't say OK, he has forgiven you.
- 10:42That was my days. All I can say is I understand
- 10:45the fact that Jasmine feel indebted to Mr Ibu according to
- 10:49how she lost her dad when she was very young and Mr Abu
- 10:52stepped in and really treated her like a daughter.
- 10:55Even the family knew because according to her, her dad and Mr
- 11:00Ibu, they are very good friends and the mom came from Enugu
- 11:03state. So they they think the same
- 11:05village. I don't know.
- 11:06But she said they they, the whole family, they kind of knew
- 11:09each other. But Mr Abbott stepped in and
- 11:12stepped up when her dad passed away.
- 11:14So when he started having challenges, according to her,
- 11:16she was in Cyprus and that was in 2019.
- 11:19So she was there and started asking her for 5010 thousand,
- 11:2415,050 thousand. He was thinking, you are Mr Abu,
- 11:28are the legendary actor, why are you needing all this, you know,
- 11:32small, small, like 5000, like seriously.
- 11:34She said she was in school but she could sometimes she would
- 11:37borrow from people. When she doesn't have that money
- 11:39to send to him he got to a point where she wanted to get married
- 11:42to her ex-husband. He came back to Nigeria.
- 11:45She was like thinking OK let her stay and set up some things and
- 11:49she said she took responsibility.
- 11:51She was feeding the family. She was taking care of the kids
- 11:54Mr who was living with her then she didn't have any problem with
- 11:58missus symbol because according to her even at that point the
- 12:01marriage was over. They they they were talking
- 12:03about divorce. What held the whole thing
- 12:06together was because of Mississippi wanted Mr able to
- 12:09sell the house and they shared the money as divorce settlement.
- 12:13But Mr was refusing to sell the house because he said that is
- 12:16his property, you know. So even before this whole thing,
- 12:21according to Jasmine, this whole marriage was over.
- 12:23So she stepped in as his stepdaughter or adopted daughter
- 12:27to help the family because she felt that Mister Able helped her
- 12:33when she she was in need, when her father passed on.
- 12:36I understand feeling indebted to somebody, feeling, feeling
- 12:39that's OK This person helped me when I was in my lowest.
- 12:42I have to help the person. But helping people, you have to.
- 12:47It's not about giving. You know, a lot of people think
- 12:50I am helping because I am giving money.
- 12:52I am helping because I am taking care of certain bills.
- 12:56I am helping because you called me and said you don't have rent
- 12:59and I give you rent. Helping goes beyond that because
- 13:02if somebody is asking for help, if somebody is calling you
- 13:05asking for 5010 thousand, the problem is not that 5000, OK?
- 13:10You give the person 5000 today, they're going to come back and
- 13:13ask for 10,000 tomorrow. And then you're going to create
- 13:16like a enabling behaviour where that person will not go out to
- 13:20seek 5000 or to look for each job that will give them 5000.
- 13:24They would rather sit down and depend on you to give them that
- 13:265000 and then it becomes you, a habit.
- 13:31Once you don't give them that money, it becomes a problem.
- 13:34I think this was the situation with Miss Abu and the family.
- 13:37Mr Abu felt that he's been telling the wife to take the
- 13:41kids to a less expensive school, but she was not listening.
- 13:45She was busy selling cars, selling everything, and she was
- 13:48able to afford that money. But when he was getting 12,
- 13:51Miss, I was borrowing 5010 thousand from everywhere to be
- 13:54able to to, to, to take care of the family.
- 13:57So when Jasmine came back, she stepped into that shoe.
- 14:00She was not the one looking for money and Mississippi was just
- 14:04sitting down. Before you help somebody, ensure
- 14:07that that person is ready to help themselves.
- 14:10If somebody is telling you, give me money for school fees, my
- 14:13children, they are, they are home.
- 14:14Check that. OK.
- 14:16How can they afford the next one?
- 14:18If there's no way they can afford the next one, then tell
- 14:21the person. Is it that you start work, or
- 14:24you start a business or you do this or you do that?
- 14:27If that person is not willing, if that person is not willing to
- 14:32adjust their situation, come to the realisation that OK, we can
- 14:37no longer afford this or we can no longer afford that.
- 14:39If that person does not do some adjustments, then you're just
- 14:44going to be giving your money and then one day you're going to
- 14:47come out and be crying like Jasmine online saying that she
- 14:50was used or saying that somebody is ungrateful.
- 14:52The reality is anybody that is not willing to help themselves,
- 14:56regardless of how much you help them, regardless of how much you
- 15:00give them, regardless of how you think you're you're saving them.
- 15:05You cannot save anybody. That person must be willing to
- 15:09save themselves because it will get to a point where you will no
- 15:13longer be able to do that. Maybe not because you don't want
- 15:17to help, but because maybe your situation change, your financial
- 15:21condition changed, and you may not be able to give the way you
- 15:26were giving before. What happens at that point?
- 15:29Before you start helping people? Let's say somebody is coming to
- 15:33me and say I want I I don't have rent.
- 15:36Ohh, look at the situation. OK?
- 15:37Why? Why don't you have rent?
- 15:39Why can't you afford rent? Is it that something happened to
- 15:42to make you not to afford the rent?
- 15:45Or what happened? You have to just found why we
- 15:48all have all had financial challenges.
- 15:51That is not what I'm saying. But there are people who are who
- 15:54are just dependent on people. Let's say you know that your
- 15:58financial situation has changed and you're living in a
- 16:01particular area you know you cannot afford.
- 16:04Instead of you to adjust, adjust to the current financial
- 16:08situation. You will call people, Bring
- 16:10money. Help me, Help me, help me.
- 16:12You pay that the next day. Help me, help me, help me.
- 16:15You pay that ohh school fees. So help me, help me, help me.
- 16:18You pay school fees and the child is sick.
- 16:21Help me, help me, help me. At what point?
- 16:26Because that person is not going to stop asking for help.
- 16:30It is now you that is the helper or the enabler or the person
- 16:34with the saviour complex. I need to now sit down and say
- 16:37am I being used? Am I being used or am I actually
- 16:42helping this person? Is this help?
- 16:45Because Mrs Sybil, she's never walked.
- 16:48She, she everything they were taking.
- 16:50Even when her husband was in the hospital, she still felt that he
- 16:54needed to take care of his responsibility.
- 16:58Jasmine stepped into that role. She was doing it.
- 17:01But now who got burnt? She got burnt.
- 17:05She is the one crying online. She is the one saying that she
- 17:08was being used. She is one being accused of
- 17:11everything under the sun. She, Mississippi, is the wife,
- 17:17regardless of what she has done. That's her husband.
- 17:21So before you start helping people, make sure that the
- 17:25person you are helping is willing to help themselves.
- 17:29So Jasmine, lick your wound, move on from it.
- 17:33I'm very sure that you learnt your lessons.
- 17:35Tomorrow, if somebody is asking you for help, even if that
- 17:38person sacrificed everything for you, you have to be able to say,
- 17:43OK, I am willing to help, but how are you helping yourself?
- 17:48If you can they can answer that question.
- 17:50Then go ahead, help as much as you want or if you have enough
- 17:54money, that's OK. You know that regardless of
- 17:56whether they are helping themselves or not, you are able
- 17:59to do that as long as you know you will not resent that person.
- 18:03As long as you know, say Ohh, you're graceful or as long as
- 18:06you will not say Ohh. After everything I did for you,
- 18:10if you know that you will not see all those things, go ahead
- 18:14and help people regardless of whether they have a plan to help
- 18:18themselves or not. Anyway, thank you very much for
