Tallest Ever Drafted NHL Player
The NHL just drafted the tallest player ever, a seven-foot-one defenseman from Moldova named Alexander Karmanov, who’s also the first from his country to ever be selected. Taken 21st overall by the San Jose Sharks, the 18-year-old powerhouse weighs 280 pounds and is currently playing for the North Bay Battalion in the OHL. He’ll head to Penn State in 2027, but if he reaches the pros, he’ll shatter the record for tallest NHL player — currently held by six-foot-nine giants like Zdeno Chara.
