- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02There is more to God than what appears on the surface.
- 1:06Man is always trying to figure out God.
- 1:09God spoke of the futility of these efforts. He said that he had a source and
- 1:14a strength that people did not know.
- 1:17You too have substance that is not easily understood or quickly recognized by the casual observer.
- 1:23You have the unseen power of the Almighty God.
- 1:26Join us in this program, It's Not What You See, as Kim Miller of Woman at the
- 1:30Well Ministries takes us through John 4.32, which says, But he said unto them,
- 1:35I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
- 1:39Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:43I love this concept and this thought.
- 1:47Of it's not what you see my dad used
- 1:50to sing a song about treasures unseen it's not
- 1:53what you see that makes me a king I have treasures unseen was a line out of
- 1:58that song and I was always fascinated by the fact that people will look at you
- 2:05and conclude all these things about you many of which may not even be remotely true.
- 2:12And oftentimes, if we have meager affair here on earth, and we're not like running
- 2:19with high society, somehow people will think we have less treasure than what we really do.
- 2:26Because as a Christian, and especially as we mature in Christ.
- 2:31We learn that the true treasures in life have very little to do with material possessions.
- 2:37In fact, what you begin to learn is that the more material possessions that you have,
- 2:43the more they take your time, the more they cause you to worry,
- 2:47and the more they remove you oftentimes from God.
- 2:53Because you're always busy caring for those things and maintaining those things
- 2:57and making sure that you have the next best thing that you often don't have
- 3:03time to serve and to worship and to pray.
- 3:06Then there's also the aspect that once
- 3:09we start somehow surrounding ourselves with
- 3:12all these material things that we often don't
- 3:16rely on the Lord anymore and that is a false hope
- 3:19and a sure recipe for disaster
- 3:22that many of us find ourselves in but
- 3:26this particular verse is about Jesus talking to his disciples and he's talking
- 3:33about that he has meat that they don't know anything of and when we think of
- 3:39meat what we think of is something that has life-sustaining.
- 3:46Properties that it is something that will nourish us
- 3:49something that is high in protein high in the
- 3:52things that we need and that will give us strength and energy
- 3:55and so what he's telling the disciples in this
- 3:59passage of scripture is that he
- 4:02has meat to eat that they don't know of he has
- 4:05a strength that they have no concept of he has
- 4:09a resource that they can't see he
- 4:12has what he needs regardless of what
- 4:15it looks like around him and as christians we have
- 4:19that same promise and we live in that
- 4:21same certainty that we have what
- 4:24we need most of us even have our
- 4:27wants but we have what we need and
- 4:30we have all these amazing blessings even if
- 4:34you the casual observer can't see
- 4:37it and in this passage of scripture his disciples ask him master eat you know
- 4:44they think he needs the stuff of the world the stuff that they need to to sustain
- 4:50him and he says no i have meat that you don't know of.
- 4:56And that's when we start to realize that what really sustains us,
- 5:02what really gives us what we need is the spiritual gifts that God gives us in peace,
- 5:10in tranquility, in the blessings and power and strength found in walking in his will.
- 5:18Have you ever noticed that there are just some people that never get rattled
- 5:24with the circumstances around them?
- 5:27And you kind of try to figure out what is it about them that is different?
- 5:34You know, what magic potion do they have that allows them to ride above the
- 5:41stress and to always be victorious?
- 5:45And as christians what we
- 5:48understand is is it's not a magic potion it is
- 5:52the grace and goodness of god that they're living
- 5:55in it's that total dependence on
- 5:58who christ is it's that ability to
- 6:02understand who he is and
- 6:06who he is in your life and what
- 6:09that means for you on a day-to-day basis many of
- 6:13the christians today find themselves
- 6:17thinking about christ as fire
- 6:20insurance and what i mean is they think of it when i die i'm
- 6:24going to go to heaven i won't go to hell and that is very true if
- 6:27we have christ as our savior he has redeemed us
- 6:30but christ is so much more as
- 6:34a savior for us than just fire insurance
- 6:37from hell he saves us from the
- 6:40day-to-day trials and troubles that
- 6:43we have we might go through them but they
- 6:46don't affect us in a negative way in fact
- 6:48if we are walking in the will of God and he's allowed
- 6:51something to be in our lives then that is something that is going to draw us.
- 6:57Closer to him that or is going to bring glory to him or somehow Al's going to
- 7:02do both of those things because he has our best interests at heart and his plan is perfect.
- 7:10And that individual that you know or see that is always riding on the top of
- 7:15the waves is someone who fully understands and grasps what it means to know
- 7:22Christ in a personal way.
- 7:24And they truly have these blessings and this resource, this peace and this tranquility
- 7:32that the world has no idea what you're talking about.
- 7:37That's that meat that you have as a Christian that you don't that others don't know about.
- 7:43And that comes from a a true dedicated heart to love the Lord.
- 7:51A heart that is completely consumed.
- 7:56By the love that they have for christ and as
- 7:59christians we can find ourselves in that
- 8:02situation of loving christ with our whole
- 8:05heart our whole soul our whole mind and our whole being
- 8:08as he commands us to do if we just
- 8:11spend time with him spend time
- 8:15in prayer letting him talk to us letting
- 8:18him steal us letting him calm our hearts
- 8:22reading his words so we can see
- 8:25his power and his glory and realize that
- 8:28no good thing does he withhold to them that love the lord to
- 8:32see his power and glory so that in this topsy-turvy
- 8:35world that we live in we fully understand that
- 8:39god is in control we can have
- 8:42peace and we can pillow our head at night and realize
- 8:45that everything's going to be okay because somebody
- 8:49greater than us the person with whom we
- 8:52trust our life the person that we know is
- 8:55capable and willing to protect us who
- 8:58lives to make intercession for
- 9:01us who gives us his entire being not
- 9:04just once on the cross of calvary that every.
- 9:07Single day that we might have the life that he
- 9:10has planned for us we understand who
- 9:14he is in such a way that we have complete trust
- 9:18in him following willingly
- 9:21after his ways that's what it
- 9:24means to have meat that the
- 9:27world just doesn't know anything about that's the
- 9:30difference between a person who is
- 9:33walking in the will of god and someone outside
- 9:36the will of god because they'll feel that conviction
- 9:40to get right that's the difference between
- 9:43somebody who's walking in the will of god and someone
- 9:47who has not repented of their sins and received the free gift of salvation they're
- 9:53living on their own merit and they're trying to sustain themselves and they're
- 10:00trying to satisfy that void inside of themselves that only Christ can fulfill.
- 10:05And they're eating just the meat that you can see. Everything about them is on the surface.
- 10:12But when you see a child of God who has a dedicated walk.
- 10:19Who has complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
- 10:24You see a strength inside of them that's hard to understand.
- 10:29But if you delve into that strength, you'll see that it's not their strength.
- 10:35It's not about what they can do for themselves.
- 10:38It's not about what they have accomplished. But it is solely and wholly about
- 10:44what God has accomplished in them.
- 10:47What God can do through them, what God empowers them with and how he strengthens
- 10:55them and how he supplies their every need and how he walks with them and how he talks with them.
- 11:01This is like this amazing resource that absolutely never fails and absolutely never runs out.
- 11:11That's what it means when you say it's not what you see.
- 11:15It's who lives in me and our
- 11:18life should be one such lived in such a
- 11:21way that that the light of god shines
- 11:25about us in such a way that people
- 11:29are inquisitive as to what makes us happy
- 11:32in trouble as to what gives us peace in
- 11:34turmoil as to how it is that even
- 11:38if it doesn't look like things you're going to work out it always does
- 11:41because god's promise that all things work together
- 11:44for the good to them that love the lord to them that are
- 11:47called according to his purpose will always prevail
- 11:51because greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world and so when
- 11:57you look at me you may see a frail fallible person and you may think i have little to no talent and.
- 12:07But it's not what you see that makes me a king, that makes me an heir to the
- 12:15throne of God, that makes me part of the family of God.
- 12:19It's what God has done in me, the cleansing of my heart, the purification of my heart,
- 12:28the washing away of my sins, the empowering of me with the Holy Spirit inside of me,
- 12:35the forgiveness that he bestows upon me daily, the love that he envelops me
- 12:42with, the joy that he brings in my heart.
- 12:45It's not the things you see that makes me wealthy.
- 12:51It's Jesus living in me that makes me rich.
