- 0:01Luke chapter 10, let us pray, Oh Heavenly Father, we thank you,
- 0:10Lord for another day to come and to sit at your feet, Father, and
- 0:14to learn. Thank you God, that you are such
- 0:17a good father and you father as well.
- 0:20Lord, we pray for the hurting, we pray for the broken.
- 0:24Father, we pray for those that have lost loved ones, God, and
- 0:29we just pray for a supernatural peace around them.
- 0:32Lord, we just pray that you'll help them to understand how good
- 0:37you are. And Father, that to be absent
- 0:40from the body is to be present with you.
- 0:43So God, we just lift up all the hurting families.
- 0:46Lord, we lift up all the hurting loved ones Father, who have lost
- 0:52people that are close to him. Father, I pray in the name of
- 0:55Jesus, Lord, that you will supernaturally give us a zeal
- 1:00for your house. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 1:03that you will help us to see our worth.
- 1:06I pray in the name of Jesus God, that you will make us more than
- 1:10conquerors through the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 1:14Lord, I pray that we can become peacemakers for our little
- 1:18circles of influence that you have given us.
- 1:20God, I pray that we will have dominion over this land.
- 1:24God, I pray that we will have authority over all of the
- 1:28unclean, wicked, and darkness that tries to impose itself upon
- 1:32us. God, I pray right now that
- 1:35you'll drive out anything that is not of you.
- 1:39And Lord, we exalt your holy name over all of our situations
- 1:46and emotions, God, over our households and families.
- 1:50God, it's your name. It's the name of Jesus.
- 1:53He is our banner, yes, the Jehovah Nisi over our lives,
- 1:58over our houses, God, over our very breath and our lungs.
- 2:04God, you are our everything. You're the all sufficient
- 2:08sacrifice, the atonement for sins.
- 2:11Thank you that we can be at one with You and we can be
- 2:15justified. God and I pray in the name of
- 2:18Jesus that you'll help us and give us our dignity.
- 2:22God, help us to see what it is that you want us to do today.
- 2:26I thank you God, for the complete authority of Your word.
- 2:30Father, I thank you that You have given us everything that we
- 2:34need, every single tool in our tool belt.
- 2:37Father, help us to put on the full armor today.
- 2:42God, help us to live in truth. Help us to live in
- 2:48righteousness. God, help us to know our worth
- 2:51through the salvation story that you have given us.
- 2:55God, I pray that we can put on those shoes of peace which comes
- 3:00from the good news. God, I pray that we can lift up
- 3:04our faith today and do war with the word, Father, and subdue all
- 3:10of the darkness. Subdue all of the demonic
- 3:14attacks that are coming our way. God, help us not to give in to
- 3:18the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh.
- 3:21God, help us not to give in to the pride of life.
- 3:24But Father, I pray that you will supernaturally fill us, God, and
- 3:30help us to run this race well and to finish this race well.
- 3:34Hide me and hide my thoughts, Father.
- 3:37Hide all of my words God, and let your words reign supreme
- 3:42over our hearts and minds. Yes, I decrease as you increase.
- 3:47It is all about you, King Jesus. And so give me your words today
- 3:53to speak to this wicked and dark and perverse generation.
- 3:58Yes, King Jesus, it's you and it's you alone that we are here
- 4:02for. So Lord, I just pray that you
- 4:07will get all the glory today and it's in Jesus Christ holy and
- 4:11precious name that I pray. Amen.
- 4:15Well, let's start in verse one. After these things, the Lord
- 4:20appointed other 70 also and sent them two and two before his face
- 4:27into every city and place where He himself would come.
- 4:32So here what you need to understand is this is not the
- 4:37apostles being sent out. We've seen them already being
- 4:40sent out. Here is 70 or 72.
- 4:45Here is 70 disciples that are unnamed.
- 4:49And their job is to go into all the places that Jesus was going
- 4:54to go and to prepare a place and to make sure that every single
- 4:59city knew who he was and what he was about.
- 5:03And he has given them authority here and he gives you the same
- 5:09authority. And it is debatable and people
- 5:12will say this is for a different time and that it's not for us
- 5:17today. But I would say that every blood
- 5:21bought born again believer who's going to bust heaven wide open
- 5:25has all authority and power in the name of Jesus Christ to heal
- 5:30and to drive out the darkness. Friends, we have that authority.
- 5:36We have that power available to us.
- 5:40And when you pray and when you lay hands, then you can know
- 5:45that God is answering your prayers one way or the other
- 5:50too. Therefore, said he unto them,
- 5:55the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few.
- 5:59Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send
- 6:04forth laborers into his harvest, so you can see it all around.
- 6:09Friends, look around how the harvest is plenty, but the
- 6:14workers are few. We need to know that we need
- 6:16workers sent out, not just watchers, not just those that
- 6:22are going to spectate, but we need people that are going to
- 6:26put their hand to the plow and not look back.
- 6:29And that is what he is telling these 70 disciples to pray for.
- 6:35Pray that God will continue to send more laborers into the
- 6:40harvest. And what does that look like?
- 6:42What is the application today, friends?
- 6:45It's disciples that make more disciples.
- 6:50It's a very simple process and it is God's divine process.
- 6:56This is discipline, which is the root word of a disciple, is
- 7:03discipline. And what are we to be
- 7:05disciplined in? We are to be disciplined in
- 7:08getting into this word every single day and munching and
- 7:12biting and digesting all of the words, friends, and making sure
- 7:18that we have the full authority in the counsel of God's Word
- 7:22written on our hearts and minds. We need to make sure that we
- 7:26hide this word in our hearts so that we might not sin against
- 7:29God. We need to make sure that we own
- 7:32this word of God and that we are steeped in this word of God, the
- 7:38discipline that comes from a daily walk with God Almighty and
- 7:42trusting Him. And it's not enough just to read
- 7:44it, but we must apply it. And God brings all these storms
- 7:48into our lives. Why?
- 7:51Well, if you were following along through the other chapters
- 7:54before, you'll know that when these storms come along, it
- 7:58gives us an opportunity to put our faith into practice.
- 8:02And you need to have that practice, which is the
- 8:06discipline that we all desperately have to have in our
- 8:11lives. We cannot just float through
- 8:14this life thinking that everything's all about
- 8:17ourselves. We cannot just float through
- 8:19this life thinking that as long as everything goes well, we'll
- 8:23believe in God. It doesn't work that way,
- 8:25friends. God will bring about and allow
- 8:29storms in your life to test you and to purify you and to cleanse
- 8:34you and to get all of the dross and impurities out of you that
- 8:38do not belong. All of this incorrect theology
- 8:42that we have that God is some genie in the bottle and as long
- 8:45as we rub him the right way, he's going to perform for us the
- 8:48miracles like Herod was trying to get Jesus to do.
- 8:52It doesn't work that way. God is, I am.
- 8:57We cannot put him in a box. We cannot tell God how to
- 9:00behave. We cannot approach God from a
- 9:03moralistic approach and tell God that he has to behave in a way
- 9:08that makes us happy. It doesn't work that way.
- 9:11We can have joy in the midst of the storm.
- 9:13That comes from a right relationship with God through
- 9:17his Son Jesus Christ. And that is the discipline that
- 9:21we must have in our lives in this discipleship that is
- 9:29reproducing friends. And we need to be looking for
- 9:33those that God is leading us into relationships with to start
- 9:38that discipleship cycle with them, of teaching them the
- 9:42foundation and the fundamentals of our faith, friends.
- 9:46And then from that grows these disciples that make disciples
- 9:50that make disciples. Three, go your way.
- 9:55Behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
- 9:59Just know that it is a dangerous task, but God leads us.
- 10:09And if God is for us, who can be against us?
- 10:11And do not fear the one that can take your life away, but fear
- 10:16the one that can take your life and your soul away and cast it
- 10:21into hell. Fear God and everything else
- 10:26bows. Every demonic and unclean foul
- 10:32spirit bows. They tremble at the name of
- 10:36Jesus. Bring that name upon your lips
- 10:39today and be saved. For carry neither purse nor
- 10:45script nor shoes, and salute no man by the way.
- 10:51So here he's saying, don't have anything that is weighing you
- 10:54down. Go freely because the worker is
- 10:59worth his wages and God will take care of you as you go.
- 11:04Don't be hindered by all of the materialistic things.
- 11:10Just go freely and know that God is going to provide your very
- 11:15next meal, your very next breath. 5 And into whatsoever
- 11:22house you enter first say peace be to this house.
- 11:26This will be Shalom unto this house.
- 11:30And they were to greet the house, and make sure that that
- 11:35peace returned back to them. 6 And if the Son of peace be
- 11:43there, your peace shall rest upon it, if not, it shall turn
- 11:49to you again. So they through discernment will
- 11:52know if the house that they are entering into has the peace of
- 11:56God resting upon it. And there is a lot of tapestry
- 12:01in these couple few little verses here.
- 12:04And you need to understand that this whole big gigantic world
- 12:10that you and I live in, there is no neutrality.
- 12:17And what we view as something that is neutral is hidden in the
- 12:25darkness. And as you enter into that house
- 12:30on the outside, it might look all well and put together, but
- 12:36it is the abode of the demonic. And there are secret things that
- 12:41are going on inside of that house or that business or on on
- 12:47that person in that person that outwardly they sure look the
- 12:51part, but they are ravenous wolves inwardly.
- 12:55And God gives us the discernment to understand, to run and to
- 13:01flee and to resist all of the things that do not come from Him
- 13:08or are not of Him. And we need to understand this
- 13:12discernment where there is peace upon places that we go.
- 13:18These places of peace, as you enter in this discernment will
- 13:23reveal to you what kind of place this is, because outwardly it
- 13:29might look decent, but you will know as you step foot in that
- 13:35place, you will know that something is awry, something is
- 13:40off, and you must leave. You must get away from that
- 13:46because you are in jeopardy of being influenced by the doctrine
- 13:55of demons. And you will see that manifest
- 14:00as you go through your life. And you will be in need of a
- 14:06cleansing and a consecration. And you will sometimes, if you
- 14:11do not have your radar on and your antenna up, you will find
- 14:16yourself in a place of depression or anxiety or fits of
- 14:22rage and anger for no reason. And you will need to go back to
- 14:27the drawing board. And you will need to understand
- 14:30that there was and there is something that is influencing
- 14:35you, something that is oppressing you.
- 14:38And that, of course, is the darkness.
- 14:43And this is a very deep subject, but it calls for understanding,
- 14:49Friends, you need to know that it's not just the simplicity
- 14:54that you and I think that we can just go through this life and
- 14:58everything's going to work out well, and that God wins in the
- 15:01end. Well, Amen.
- 15:03But we are called to a battlefield.
- 15:05We're not called to the playground, friends.
- 15:08And so therefore put on that full armor of God today and do
- 15:12war with the darkness, friends. And don't go out looking for a
- 15:16fight. Don't be some kind of superhero.
- 15:22Just know that naturally as you go through this life, you're
- 15:25going to encounter some things that you must do.
- 15:30War with 7. And in the same house remain
- 15:38eating, drinking, such things as they give for the laborer is
- 15:46worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
- 15:51So as we go into the harvest, we need to understand it.
- 15:55God is leading us. We need to have that discernment
- 15:59to know if the house that we have come to is the one that He
- 16:04desires to bless. And if it is, then we should
- 16:08stay in that house and don't be a busy body.
- 16:12A and into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive, you eat
- 16:17such things that are set before you.
- 16:20So this is hospitality, friends, and we should not refuse
- 16:24hospitality, friends. And he told Peter to eat
- 16:28whatever, even the unclean. And Jesus came eating and
- 16:33drinking, and they called him a wine Beaver and a glutton.
- 16:36And you can see here that he's saying do not refuse
- 16:40hospitality, just bless it. But the one caveat is that we
- 16:46should never eat anything that has been sacrificed to idols. 9
- 16:53Heal the sick that are there, and say unto them, the Kingdom
- 16:57of God has come near unto you. Praise the Lord Hallelujah.
- 17:02It's been 2000 years and we're closer today than we were
- 17:07yesterday in the Kingdom of God is at hand.
- 17:10The Kingdom of God has come near to you and we can see it in the
- 17:15church, we can see it in worship.
- 17:19We can see it, friends, in the reading of the Scripture and
- 17:22allowing the Scripture to change us.
- 17:25And if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation.
- 17:28And you need to understand that the Kingdom of heaven is that
- 17:31near. We have the Holy Spirit living
- 17:34in us. We are the temple of God,
- 17:37Friends. The Kingdom of heaven is near to
- 17:40you, Tim, but into whatsoever city you enter, if they do not
- 17:45receive you, go your way out into the streets of the same,
- 17:50and say, 11 Even the very dust of your city which cleaves on
- 17:55us, we do wipe off against you, notwithstanding.
- 17:59Be you sure of this, that the Kingdom of God has come near
- 18:05unto you. So here you could see whether
- 18:08they receive them or whether they refuse to receive them.
- 18:12The Kingdom of God came near, and you can see that God makes
- 18:16it rain on the just and the unjust.
- 18:19Friends, you can see the goodness of God all around you
- 18:25in all of creation. You can see it.
- 18:28Friends, this is as close to heaven as lost people will ever
- 18:33get. Look at the beauty all around
- 18:36you, friends. Look at how God has made
- 18:40everything beautiful in its time and evil people get to partake
- 18:46in all of the goodness that is here in this world.
- 18:49But for those of us who are going to bust heaven wide open,
- 18:54this is as close to hell as we will ever get as we look into
- 18:59all of the evil that is happening all around us.
- 19:02Just take heart, friends, for your redemption draws near. 12
- 19:08But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable in that day
- 19:12for Sodom than for that city. So Sodom did not have the Son of
- 19:21God coming and visiting them. And he's saying that when Sodom
- 19:29gets judged, it will be more tolerable for them then for
- 19:34those of us who have the full counsel of God's Word.
- 19:38And we turn and we run away from it for the people that have been
- 19:43brought up in the way, and then they turn from it and they
- 19:49renounce their faith, there is no more salvation for them.
- 19:54And it will be more tolerable for the unreached people groups
- 19:58who have never heard. Of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 20:04Then it will be for those who have been explained all of the
- 20:08goodness and the truth, and they have refused it. 13 Woe unto
- 20:16you, Cherazen, Woe unto you, Besida.
- 20:20For if the mighty works had been done entire, and Sidon which
- 20:24have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented
- 20:29sitting in sackcloth and ashes. So we can see that in the city
- 20:33of Nineveh, where Jonah goes through and tells them that it's
- 20:37about to be destroyed, and they sit in the sackcloth and ashes
- 20:42from the king to the cattle. The greatest revival that this
- 20:45world has ever known, friends. And here Jesus is telling these
- 20:51towns that had seen the miracles and refused to believe, woe unto
- 20:56them. And it's no different for our
- 20:59day and for our hour. How many people are turning
- 21:03their backs on God and they're not only just trying to go into
- 21:06neutrality, what they're doing is they are hostile towards God
- 21:09and they're moving into the Satanism.
- 21:14Think about it, friends, Woe unto them.
- 21:18They have tasted and seen the goodness, but they do not want
- 21:21the accountability of God. And it actually leads them
- 21:25astray and away, and it leads them into death and hell.
- 21:31And it is a sad thing, friends, when we choose to go to hell. 14
- 21:42But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the
- 21:46judgement than for you, this great white throne of judgement.
- 21:51Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus
- 21:56is Lord, and it's better to do it now on this side of heaven
- 21:59than it will be during this time. 15 And you, Capernaum,
- 22:05which are exalted to heaven, shall be thrust down to hell.
- 22:10He makes it as plain as the nose on your face.
- 22:13Friends, you can see there is a grave responsibility on our
- 22:24part. When you have breath in your
- 22:26lungs, you're given day after day after day after day after
- 22:33day after day of chances. You're actually given second by
- 22:38second by second by second by second, by heartbeat, by
- 22:43heartbeat, by breath, by breath by breath chances to acknowledge
- 22:52God Almighty and have a relationship with Him who dwells
- 22:58in unapproachable light. Through His Son Jesus Christ,
- 23:04who came and who lived a perfect life, and who died a criminal's
- 23:09death, and was resurrected the third day, and appeared to many,
- 23:15and ascended to the right hand of God, We have a grave
- 23:20responsibility to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and as
- 23:27our Savior. 16 He that hears you hears me, and he that despises
- 23:35you despises me, and he that despises me despises him that
- 23:41sent me. What is Jesus talking about here
- 23:44in verse 16? This is not a Riddle wrapped up
- 23:47in an enigma. This is simple stuff, friends,
- 23:51and we must lock in and we must truly think about and meditate
- 23:56upon what Jesus Christ is saying.
- 24:00And he's saying that if we reject the messengers that He
- 24:06sends, then we're rejecting Him. And if we reject Him, we're
- 24:10rejecting God. And there is no salvation apart
- 24:13from that. And there is a very substantial
- 24:23wrong whenever we refuse to believe the messengers that God
- 24:31sends. And you can see it all
- 24:33throughout Scripture. And God has boots on the ground
- 24:37today for this day and for this hour that is taking the gospel
- 24:42of Jesus Christ out into the harvest.
- 24:46And we must hear them, friends, and we must be like the Bereans
- 24:52as they are teaching the things of God.
- 24:56We must be like the Bereans and go and search the Scriptures to
- 25:00make sure that what they are preaching and teaching adds up
- 25:05and lines up with the Word of God.
- 25:07But how will you know if you're not in it, friends?
- 25:1217 And the 70 returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the
- 25:18devils are subject unto us through your name.
- 25:22It is that name, the name that is the name above all names,
- 25:26Jesus Christ. All the demonic, all the foul
- 25:30and unclean spirits are subject unto that name.
- 25:33Bring that name upon your lips and watch the healing flow.
- 25:37Bring that name upon your lips and watch the darkness drive
- 25:40out. Friends, it is the name of Jesus
- 25:43Christ. Can you say today that Jesus is
- 25:46Lord? I pray that you can. 18 And he
- 25:52said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
- 25:5819 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
- 26:03scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing
- 26:08shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice
- 26:14not that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice
- 26:20because your names are written in heaven.
- 26:25So he's telling these disciples and he's telling you, and he's
- 26:29telling me. He's saying, don't rejoice that
- 26:33you can drive out demons in my name.
- 26:37Rather rejoice that your names are written in the Lamb's Book
- 26:42of life. Friends, we need to know that
- 26:49there are going to be many that you encounter today that are on
- 26:53the wide path to destruction. And we our hearts break and we
- 27:00wish and we pray and we beg that they give their lives to the
- 27:07Lord. But the sad reality is they
- 27:11won't. And that is a hard thought.
- 27:17That is a hard saying that the road to destruction is paved
- 27:24with, well, intentions. But they have chosen the wrong
- 27:28way. They have chosen to send
- 27:35themselves into hell and destruction.
- 27:40And those of us who have found eternal life, He's saying,
- 27:43marvel at that, Marvel that you're actually going to get
- 27:49there. Marvel that your name is there.
- 27:53And we can be so preoccupied with everyone else that we don't
- 27:58stop and pause and give God the most praise that we could ever
- 28:04give him, that he saved our lives.
- 28:08And praise God, Hallelujah, that he has saved your life.
- 28:16And that is what Jesus is telling these disciples.
- 28:19Marvel that your name is actually recorded there. 21 In
- 28:28that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit, and said, I thank you, O
- 28:36Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these
- 28:43things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them
- 28:47unto babes. Even so, Father, for so it
- 28:51seemed good in your sight. 22 All things are delivered to me
- 28:57of my Father, and no man knows who the Son is but the Father,
- 29:02and who the Father is but the Son, and he to whom the Son will
- 29:07reveal him. You cannot even come unto the
- 29:10Father unless the Spirit draws you to himself.
- 29:14And you can see here that Jesus is pleased to reveal the Father
- 29:18to us. The heart of the Father is
- 29:22spoken of through the words of Jesus.
- 29:25We can know God's thoughts through what Jesus has taught
- 29:29us, friends, and through what this Holy Scripture teaches us,
- 29:33friends. We can know the mind of Christ
- 29:35through the teachings that are in the Word of God.
- 29:39And you can see it here that it is the unlearned that get the
- 29:46doctrine. It is those who empty themselves
- 29:51of themselves and have nothing to offer other than an empty
- 29:56vessel, that those are the ones that get filled and full.
- 30:00And those are the ones who He is pleased to reveal all of the
- 30:10theology that we need, the full counsel that we need.
- 30:14And it is the learned and the prudent that he hides these
- 30:18things from, because they think that they know it all, and they
- 30:22don't have anything else to learn.
- 30:24And they think that they've got it all wrapped up, and the very
- 30:27things that they think they have will be taken away from them. 23
- 30:32And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately,
- 30:38Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see. 24 For
- 30:43I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see
- 30:47those things which you see and have not seen them, and to hear
- 30:51those things which you hear and have not heard them.
- 30:55So there are many that have gone before us that desire to see
- 31:00this day where the Holy Spirit would dwell inside of us, God
- 31:05Almighty dwelling inside of man and giving us the discernment,
- 31:11friends giving us the power, friends, giving us the
- 31:15authority, friends. And what Adam lost in the
- 31:17garden, Jesus regained in the desert.
- 31:21And you can see it here, friends, that there have been
- 31:25many who wish to see this day. But you and I see it.
- 31:28And what are we doing with it? What are we doing with the
- 31:38indwelling of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of us?
- 31:42Are we just taking our light and hiding it under a bushel?
- 31:51Let it shine, friends. 25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood
- 31:57up and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to
- 32:01inherit eternal life? 26 And he said unto him, What is
- 32:05written in the law? How do you read it?
- 32:0827 And he answered and said, You shall love the Lord thy God with
- 32:12all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength,
- 32:15with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself, which we
- 32:20know that this is something that Jesus taught.
- 32:23And he told the man who asked him that he was close to the
- 32:30Kingdom of God, because he had understood that we are to love
- 32:35God and love our neighbor, and everything in the law and the
- 32:41prophets are all wrapped up in those two.
- 32:45And he said, well said. And he told him that he was
- 32:48close to the Kingdom. Let's see how this lawyer
- 32:55responds. 28 And he said unto him, You have answered, right
- 33:01This do, and you shall live. 29 But he, willing to justify
- 33:07himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
- 33:13So here he's trying to trap Jesus, but Jesus is going to
- 33:17beat him at his own game. This lawyer who's trying to use
- 33:22the law that had all of the bumper laws attached to the
- 33:29original law to try to get people to not break the original
- 33:35law. And here they had added so many
- 33:37different laws on to it. And he's trying to trap Jesus,
- 33:43and Jesus sees right through it. 30 And Jesus answered and said,
- 33:49a certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell
- 33:54among thieves, which stripped him of his clothing and wounded
- 33:58him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance
- 34:05there came down a certain priest that way, and when he saw him,
- 34:09he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when
- 34:15he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on
- 34:19the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, he
- 34:27came where he was, and when he saw him he had compassion on
- 34:32him. 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in
- 34:38oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an
- 34:44end, and took care of him. 35 And on the Morrow when he
- 34:49departed, he took out 2 pence, and gave them to the host, and
- 34:54said unto him, Take care of him. And whatsoever you spend this
- 34:59more, when I come again I will repay you. 36 Which now of these
- 35:06three do you think was neighbor unto him that fell among the
- 35:12thieves? This is simple stuff here,
- 35:16friends. Jesus is talking to this lawyer
- 35:20as if he's just a little child, and he's asking him a very
- 35:26simple question. And he's showing that this Jew
- 35:30had two other Jews that were supposed to be following after
- 35:37God, and they looked upon this man and they crossed the other
- 35:41side. And how many times do we do
- 35:44that? Friends, do not forget that
- 35:49some, by showing hospitality, have entertained angels.
- 35:54There are many things that the Lord is doing all around you,
- 35:59and He's revealing your heart and your motives.
- 36:02And there are many trials and tests that God has brought your
- 36:07way to reveal your inner motives and to show us what we will do.
- 36:17And you need to understand that God is inviting you in to the
- 36:22greatest adventure that you will ever go on.
- 36:25If you will trust Him and get out of your own emotions and
- 36:28feelings and your own thoughts and trying to save your own
- 36:32skin, and if you will step out in faith, you're going to find
- 36:36that God will meet you right there out on the water.
- 36:40Get out of the boat, friends. And here these Jews had turned
- 36:48their back on their own fellow countryman who had been beaten
- 36:53and left half dead. And here this half breed
- 37:00Samaritan who was only half Jew and was an enemy of them, and
- 37:09they were an enemy of him, and he had compassion upon him.
- 37:14What a word for you, what a word for me.
- 37:17Friends, we must get out of all of our prejudiceness.
- 37:23We must get out of all of our fears.
- 37:28We must get out of our comfort zone and we must step into the
- 37:35realm of faith, friends, and meet God there in that space.
- 37:41That sacred space of moving in faith and not trusting our
- 37:46emotions, not trusting our own thought processes, but walking
- 37:52in the Spirit. What a beautiful place to be in.
- 37:55This Samaritan was moved with compassion and God help us, we
- 38:02need that compassion for our fellow man, those that are image
- 38:07bearers of God, those that have been made in the image of God.
- 38:11Friends, we need this compassion that human life is sacred to God
- 38:17and you never know who belongs to him, only God knows.
- 38:21And what we do is we cast seed into all places, all soil.
- 38:26That's what we are called to do. We're not not called to hold
- 38:30back from any people group, no matter the shade of their skin,
- 38:34no matter the language barrier. We are to cast seed amongst all
- 38:39brethren all around this globe. 37 And he and he said, he that
- 38:55showed mercy on him, then said, Jesus unto him, go and do you
- 39:01likewise. So he's showing him who his
- 39:04neighbor is. We know who our neighbor is.
- 39:07Anybody who is made in the image of God is your neighbor.
- 39:10Friends, don't hold back on them.
- 39:12Don't be prejudice, don't be racist.
- 39:15Make sure that every single person that you meet today, no
- 39:20matter what country they are from or whatever kind of label
- 39:25that we have labeled them, we need to make sure sure that we
- 39:28understand that we all came from the same 2 parents, friends.
- 39:34The entire world was populated from Adam and Eve.
- 39:42No matter the language barrier, no matter the cultural barrier,
- 39:49we need to know who our neighbor is. 38 Now it came to pass as
- 39:57they went, that he entered into a certain village and a certain
- 40:02woman named Martha received him into her house.
- 40:08So we can see this was Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus.
- 40:14We can see that this is. The first time that she's
- 40:18showing up on the scene and she's inviting him into her
- 40:22house, she had a sister named Mary 39 and she had a sister
- 40:28called Mary, which also sat at Jesus's feet and heard His word.
- 40:35So here Martha is, a busy body, and she's getting everything
- 40:39ready. Here Mary is, and she is sitting
- 40:44at the Lord's feet, and she could be labeled as being lazy.
- 40:48Let's see what the Lord says about her. 40 But Martha was
- 40:54cumbered about much serving, and came to him and said, Lord, do
- 41:02you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
- 41:08Bid her therefore, that she helped me.
- 41:12So here Martha is getting everything ready, and here Mary
- 41:16is just sitting around doing nothing.
- 41:20And of course you would think that Jesus's response would be,
- 41:27Hey Mary, your sister needs your help, you should go and help
- 41:31her. We can get back to this
- 41:33conversation later. But what does he say, Friends?
- 41:3841 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, you
- 41:45are careful and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is
- 41:55needful, and Mary has chosen that good part which shall not
- 42:02be taken away from her. Lock in.
- 42:05Pay attention. This is paramount.
- 42:11God bless the Marthas of this world.
- 42:17God bless those that are servers, that are cumbered by
- 42:24much, and who are people of hospitality, who invite us into
- 42:30their homes and who get everything ready.
- 42:32God bless them, friends. But Jesus tells us very clearly
- 42:41we must be more like Mary than we are like Martha.
- 42:46We must choose the better, and it will not be taken from us.
- 42:51So many of us are so preoccupied with this life and we're so
- 42:56preoccupied with the things of this world.
- 42:59And we try to measure how much we care and how much we do.
- 43:04And we have a report card that's constantly going through our
- 43:08minds, and we're giving ourselves the marks that we
- 43:11think we desire and certain subjects.
- 43:14And Jesus just asked us to sit at His feet and to be filled by
- 43:22Him so that we can go out and pour into others.
- 43:26We cannot measure how much we love God by how much we do for
- 43:31Him. It doesn't work that way.
- 43:33And thank God for the doers. Thank God for those who don't
- 43:38just sit on their blessed assurance.
- 43:40Thank God for those who don't just sit and it's all
- 43:45intellectual. We need laborers.
- 43:48We need those that are going out into the harvest, but we do not
- 43:51need those that are going out into the harvest just so they
- 43:55can check a box, just so they can tell others what they have
- 44:01done, just so they can get human recognition.
- 44:06We need to be after the heart of God and God sees our very inner
- 44:12motives. He knows what we're there for
- 44:14and we. It is impossible to pour out of
- 44:18an empty cup, friends. And you see it all around with
- 44:22people that are in service. We see it all around with the
- 44:26volunteers that are burned out because they were not poured
- 44:30into. And it was all about the
- 44:32ceremony. It was all about the tradition.
- 44:35It was all about just this dogmatic approach to God.
- 44:39And we think that we can measure how much we love God by how much
- 44:44we do for God. And it doesn't work that way.
- 44:46We need to be poured out of the overflow that comes from sitting
- 44:52at His feet. Friends, you will naturally do
- 44:57the things that God desires of you when you are full of the
- 45:01Spirit. I pray that you're full of the
- 45:03Spirit today. I hope you've been blessed by
- 45:09this chapter. I know I sure have many times
- 45:12over. I'm praying for you.
- 45:22I love you, and we'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 45:28God bless you.
