Wyden Presses Oversight Committee to Dig Deeper Into Black’s Epstein Ties (7/3/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
0:03
Epstein Chronicles. When it comes to Jeffrey Epstein's former associates,
0:09
nobody's having a worse week than Leon Black. Not only
0:14
did this clown storm out of the congressional hearing, Senator
0:18
Widen is now pressing for more answers as the scrutiny
0:22
continues to heat up. And I'll tell you what, For
0:26
the first time, one of Jeffrey Epstein's closest associates is
0:30
in real jeopardy. Now when I say that, I don't
0:33
mean going to prison, right, I won't believe anyone's going
0:36
to prison until they start putting people there. But what
0:40
I'm talking about is reputationally and financially. I mean, how
0:45
many lawsuits is he going to get hit with? If
0:48
and when it's proven that he was a lot closer
0:51
and a key element of Jeffrey's operation, What then, how
0:56
many people are going to sue him? I'm guessing a
0:59
lot and they should. As far as legal jeopardy, if
1:06
I was Leon Black, what I'd be scared of is taxes.
1:10
What are they gonna come for financially, because that's how
1:12
you get people like Leon Black Unfortunately, you're never gonna
1:16
get them on the allegations that have been made by
1:18
guzelle Ganieva or by the unfortunate young lady who has
1:22
mosaic down syndrome. People like Leon Black, they find a
1:25
way to get away from that shit. But when it
1:27
comes to money, when it comes to tax evasion, when
1:30
it comes to hiding that shit, that's how you get
1:33
people like this. And I know a lot of you
1:35
are saying, well, there's no justice there. You're getting them
1:39
for a different crime. And my counter to that is, yes,
1:43
that's true. The most grievous sins are not being punished,
1:48
but at least there are some punishment. And that's why
1:52
I always bring up the example of al Capone. Of course,
1:55
the government wanted to get them for murder, right, elliot ness,
1:58
the untouchable is the whole thing, But they couldn't make
2:01
that stick. So what did they do. They changed up
2:04
the strategy and they ended up getting them on tax evasion.
2:08
And that's how you go after powerful people. You follow
2:11
the money. And if you follow the money on the street,
2:13
eventually that shit's gonna land with the person who's the plug.
2:17
And the SAME's true here. If you follow all the
2:20
money from all of Epstein's associates, it all ends up
2:23
going to the same place, right to Jeffrey Epstein. So
2:27
the question is why, and unfortunately none of these people
2:33
seem to have an answer. Today's article is from the
2:36
Grant Pass Tribune and the headline Widen presses for answers
2:41
as congressional scrutiny of Leon Black deepens. This article was
2:44
altered by Ellen Ward. A congressional investigation examining the financial
2:50
relationship between billionaire investor Leon Black and convicted sex offender
2:54
Jeffrey Epstein entered a new phase this week as lawmakers
2:57
moved to compel additional testimony and records following Black's appearance
3:02
before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. And
3:07
I think the problems for Leon Black are just beginning.
3:11
I think that if anybody is exposed here, I think
3:13
it's him. Now, let's not get too carried away and
3:17
act like he's going to end up in prison. I'm
3:20
not going to go that far, but I think that
3:23
he is really being looked at right now. And if
3:26
anybody is going to be in jeopardy, I think it's
3:29
going to be Leon Black. And I think that all
3:33
the facts align and the evidence points to him knowing
3:36
a lot more than he ever let on. And when
3:39
it comes to the money, well, I've told you from
3:41
the beginning. I think that there was a ton of
3:44
tax evasion and money laundering. Whether Leon Black was directly
3:50
involved in that or not, I don't know, but I
3:53
can tell you with conviction that that's what Jeffrey Epstein
3:56
was up to, and if you were using his services,
3:59
it only makes sense that that's what you were looking for.
4:05
The latest hearing has renewed attention on a year's long
4:08
investigation led by Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, whose work on
4:12
the Senate Finance Committee has steadily expanded beyond questions of
4:15
tax strategy to include the flow of millions of dollars
4:18
between Black, Epstein and other individuals connected to the financier's network.
4:24
And it would be nice if Congress and the Senate
4:26
would get on board and get all these bank records
4:29
subpoened and into the public record, because if you follow
4:33
this money, I guarantee you you're going to get to
4:36
some of the answers that we're looking for. And that's
4:38
why they haven't done it. Black appeared voluntarily before the
4:46
House Committee in a closed door interview intended to clarify
4:49
the nature of his business dealings with Epstein. During the session,
4:53
Black maintained that Epstein's role centered on advising them on
4:57
complex financial matters involving taxes, trusts, and estate planning, rather
5:02
than serving as a licensed tax attorney or accountant. So
5:06
you have all the money in the world, you're in
5:08
charge of Apollo Global, worth billions, and you reach out
5:11
to Jeffrey Epstein, who's not an attorney, not a tax guy,
5:15
not an accountant. I mean, it's not like you or
5:19
I reaching out to our buddy who knows how to
5:21
do taxes. Right. Different story, whole different story here. So
5:26
if you want to believe that Jeffrey Epstein was receiving
5:29
this money for tax advice, cool, Like I always tell you,
5:33
I'm not here to convince anybody of anything. Here's the evidence.
5:37
Do with it as you will. Members of the Bipartisan committee, however,
5:44
concluded that significant questions remain unanswered after Black declined to
5:48
discuss several matters involving confidentiality agreements and financial arrangements linked
5:53
to Epstein. He doesn't want anybody to know the truth,
5:59
and they can involuntarily because they wanted to dog walk
6:02
the whole entire operation. They wanted to control the narrative. Oh,
6:06
we're here voluntarily of our own free will. Well yeah,
6:10
but if you didn't come voluntarily, you'd be here under subpoena.
6:14
So tell the truth or come back under a subpoena
6:18
and face all the jeopardy that comes with that. And
6:21
now that's the position that Leon Black's in, and guess
6:23
what well deserved. The Committee responded by issuing subpoenas requiring
6:29
Black to produce additional documents and return for sporn testimony
6:33
later this summer, signaling that lawmaker's believe the investigation has
6:38
reached a point where further compulsory testimony is necessary. It
6:44
reached that point about thirty years ago. I'm glad that
6:47
Congress is catching up now, but let's be real. This
6:51
is an issue that was allowed to metastasize. This cancer
6:55
could have been cut out a long time ago, but
6:57
it wasn't, and now it's spread for Oregon. The hearing
7:03
represents another chapter in an investigation that Center Widen has
7:06
pursued for more than four years. As ranking member of
7:10
the Senate Finance Committee. Widen has examined banking records, financial transactions,
7:15
and tax documents in an effort to understand why Black
7:18
transferred and estimated one hundred and seventy million to Epstein
7:22
between twenty twelve and twenty seventeen. According to Widen's investigation,
7:27
both payments dramatically exceeded the compensation Black paid to internationally
7:32
recognize tax and a state planning professionals already working on
7:36
his financial affairs. They weren't willing to go into the
7:39
areas that Epstein was. Come on, this is not rocket science.
7:46
He had the professionals, the you know, people with a
7:50
good reputation on the outside taking care of the quote
7:54
unquote taxes, but on the inside, well, where all the
7:58
money laundering was happening, where all the fraud was happening,
8:01
where the hiding of funds was happening, that was exclusively
8:06
controlled by Jeffrey Epstein, and that's what he was getting
8:10
paid for. Widen has repeatedly argued that the size and
8:14
structure of those payments deserve greater scrutiny. In early June,
8:18
the Oregon Senator formerly transmitted the findings of his Senate
8:22
investigation to the House Oversight Committee before Black's appearance, encouraging
8:26
investigators to pursue additional lines of questioning regarding financial records,
8:31
settlement payments, and the movement of funds connected to Epstein's network,
8:36
all very relative and all very important. And I really
8:40
think that if anyone's exposed here, it's Leon Black. Among
8:46
the issues identified by Widener allegations at Epstein may have
8:49
acted as an intermediary in payments made to several women
8:53
and maintained records involving settlement agreements. Widen has also questioned
8:58
the circumstances surrounding black x multimillion dollar settlement with the
9:02
government of the US Virgin Islands, which resolved civil claims
9:06
without an admission of wrongdoing. Those issues now appear to
9:10
be central to the House committees expanding investigation. And I
9:13
told you at the time it was a hustle and
9:16
that the USVII should be ashamed of itself. It was
9:19
always about the money for the USVII, never about the survivors,
9:23
never about real justice. They were eating at both ends
9:26
of the table. When Epstein was alive, they were enjoying
9:29
as large as when Epstein died, they went after his
9:32
estate and not only that, but they ended up getting
9:35
more money than all of the survivors combined. How is
9:41
that acceptable? And how is it that i'mlike the only
9:44
person who called it out. Black is consistently denied participating
9:50
or having knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's criminal activities. He has
9:53
maintained that substantial payments reflected sophisticated financial and estate planning
9:58
services that ultimately produced significant tax savings, and stated that
10:03
he was deceived about the full extent of Epstein's criminal conduct.
10:07
Everybody was deceived. Nobody had a Internet browser that worked.
10:11
I guess nobody did any due diligence. Does anyone believe that?
10:19
His legal representatives have criticized recent congressional subpoenas, arguing that
10:23
the requests are unnecessary because Black has already cooperated extensively
10:28
with investigators, So what's the big deal? Then? If he's
10:31
already cooperated intensively, then what's the big deal? Congressional investigators
10:39
appear unconvinced that the matter has been fully explained. Members
10:43
of both political parties have indicated they want a clearer
10:46
understanding of the financial relationship between the two men, particularly
10:50
the purpose of unusually large payments, the existence of confidentiality agreements,
10:56
and whether Epstein played any role beyond providing financial vice. No,
11:01
I'm sure that's it. It started and stopped there, right.
11:07
The renewed congressional interest comes as federal investigators continue reviewing
11:11
millions of pages of records associated with Ebstein and his
11:15
extensive network of business associates, financial clients, and personal contacts.
11:21
House investigators have indicated that Black's testimony represents only one
11:25
portion of a broader effort to understand how Epstein maintained
11:29
influence among wealthy and powerful individuals over many years. Well compromise,
11:36
getting people into compromising situations, and just learning about people.
11:41
That was Epstein's gift, Make no mistake. He had a
11:45
menagerie of people that he collected, very powerful people for Widen.
11:51
The developments represent a continuation of an investigation that is
11:54
increasingly focused on financial transparency rather than criminal allegations alone
12:00
and go. If you want to win and you want
12:02
to hold people accountable, that's how you do it. I know,
12:05
not sillacious, not the kind of shit that draws engagement,
12:09
and certainly not the kind of thing that makes you rich.
12:13
But if you want justice, that's how you get there.
12:20
The Oregon senator has argued that Congress has a responsibility
12:23
to determine whether existing tax law, banking regulations, and financial
12:27
reporting requirements were sufficient to detect or prevent transactions that
12:32
may warrant additional oversight. Black is scheduled to return before
12:36
the House Oversight Committee under subpoena next month, where lawmakers
12:40
are expected to continue pressing for answers regarding the financial
12:44
relationship that has remained under Congressional examination for years. Whether
12:49
that testimony resolves lingering questions or broadens the investigation further,
12:54
remains one of the most closely watched political and financial
12:57
inquiries currently unfolding in Washington. That's true when you have
13:02
somebody as powerful as Leon Black on the doc, everybody's
13:07
paying attention, and hopefully with this renewed attention, we get
13:11
some of the answers that we've been looking for. And
13:13
if we want to get to the bottom of what
13:15
Leon Black was up to with Jeffrey Epstein, then I
13:18
think Senator Wyden is on the right track because if
13:22
you want to get Leon Black, the way to do
13:24
it is through his bank account. All the information that
