Transcript
- 0:06Hey book babes, welcome back to 2 Girls 1 TBR.
- 0:10Today is a special one. We are sitting down with author
- 0:14Parker A Garner. We're going to be talking about
- 0:17her Fates Entwined trilogy and her haunting standalone Magpie.
- 0:23Yeah, and the timing is actually really perfect because her
- 0:27trilogy, the third book, just finally release on April 24th.
- 0:32And so I know a lot of people wait for series to be completed
- 0:38to like Benjam. I used to be that way till I
- 0:41joined Books Graham. So I have some friends where I'm
- 0:44going to be like, hey, this is the next one because it is
- 0:47really good. And then I recently finished
- 0:49Magpie, which is her, it's her darker romanticism.
- 0:55And I thought it was a stand alone too.
- 0:57But there is a hint at the back that there may be an
- 1:02interconnected couple coming into another book.
- 1:05So I think she's going to make that one into a series of like
- 1:09intercepted in the world. Yeah.
- 1:11And I love so cool. It's such a really cool world
- 1:15building where it's it's still like in realism, but you have
- 1:22kind of like your witchiness to it and like your mages and
- 1:27things like that that are behind the scenes, right?
- 1:31Like you live in this world with them, but they're not seen until
- 1:36you're part of the mage life. Yeah.
- 1:40So I'm excited for it. And when I saw that, I was like,
- 1:42yeah, because when I was reading about that couple in the book, I
- 1:47was thinking like, oh, this would be a really good spin off.
- 1:50And when I saw that at the end of the book, I was like, yeah.
- 1:53That's and she left that interest interesting.
- 1:57Yeah, so Trilogy is out for Parker and then her Magpie may
- 2:06be coming with more stuff, so we'll see.
- 2:10We'll have to ask her if she has that one going.
- 2:13Yes, we will definitely have to ask her that now.
- 2:16We are excited to have you here in the dark with us today
- 2:20though, if you love what we are doing, we want to make sure that
- 2:24you never miss a deep dive or a trope trial.
- 2:28Please take a second and follow the show.
- 2:31Rate US on whatever platform you're using, be it Spotify,
- 2:35Apple, YouTube. It truly helps our little
- 2:39community grow. Yeah, it really does.
- 2:43So before we actually get started and deep dive into the
- 2:46shadows here, OK, we have to check in.
- 2:49We want to check in and just make sure, you know, since it's
- 2:54Magpie has some darker things and trigger warnings and we're
- 2:58going to be talking about kind of like that slow drift into
- 3:01numbness, disassociation, suicidal ideations, things like
- 3:05that. As you know, we thought this
- 3:08book would be great for Mental Health Awareness Month.
- 3:11So we are going to kind of talk about these things.
- 3:14So, you know, just want you guys to to be safe and follow along.
- 3:20But trigger warnings, yeah. Yeah, cuz we're going to be
- 3:23real. We're going to be wrong.
- 3:25So if if you aren't in a place where you can hold that space
- 3:29today, please protect your peace.
- 3:32We want you to listen when you feel strong enough to sit with
- 3:35us in the dark. We love you guys.
- 3:37Yes. So let's go.
- 3:41Let's check out the titles. I have my book back here with
- 3:45Magpie Art. What do you got?
- 3:48Well, I have, I have of course, this.
- 3:50I started her other book path. Your path is sorrow.
- 3:55Literally. Yes.
- 3:57This is the trilogy. This is the first book.
- 3:59Look how pretty that cover. Is I mean that just like makes
- 4:03me go. We have questions.
- 4:06I have questions, but it and it you know, they're not they're
- 4:11they're just a nice they're just a perfect size.
- 4:13Yes, same with that. I'm really liking it.
- 4:17Yes. It's very the world is dark and
- 4:22stuff and things that are happening, but the way Parker
- 4:25does her writing it, you immediately you're into that
- 4:30world. Yes.
- 4:31You can see that world. She's very good at world
- 4:35building. I'm only just a like so many
- 4:38chapters in and it is it is really good.
- 4:41So I highly recommend it. I remember this far in.
- 4:45Yes, I read, I think like the first few pages before I had to
- 4:49get ready for recording today. And I was hooked.
- 4:52Like, oh, yeah, if my kids didn't bother me, I probably
- 4:55would have like gotten into a few chapters.
- 4:59But even just like, OK, so like I opened it up and she was like
- 5:02immediately like, yes, sucking you into this like cold, damp,
- 5:07freezing forest. And we come to this like dark
- 5:11path that has, you know, it's, it looks dangerous, slippery.
- 5:16We have like a churning river under this bridge and we're
- 5:19going to this dark castle that has like hardly any lights in
- 5:23it. And then she starts doing some
- 5:24kind of satanic ritual to a God and talk about like stealing
- 5:30library box and stuff to find this up and like going on her,
- 5:34you know, and I'm like, look at all these like little trinkets.
- 5:37This would be great for APR box. Like send me all that stuff in
- 5:41APR box so I could like pretend to do this little ritual to the
- 5:44gods. Because I was thinking in my
- 5:47mind as I was reading that and I'm like, she's doing all this
- 5:51stuff and she's this is she had to give these things, you know,
- 5:56I mean, does she get to? I would be mad that I didn't get
- 5:58to take him back because I don't think she gets to take him with
- 6:01her after she does it. I don't know because she
- 6:03doesn't. I haven't.
- 6:04Got that? Far Yeah, I.
- 6:07Mean tell us what else you know, because there's some more
- 6:09chapters in. I'm a little more chapters in
- 6:12now. She does her whole thing and
- 6:14then she gets to meet this mysterious man.
- 6:18I'm not going to say who he is. Well, we know she's going to see
- 6:20a God, but I won't tell you who he is yet until you get into
- 6:23that part. And he's very dark and he's very
- 6:27I don't think he's a very kind with his yes, it's Ramsey.
- 6:31Is his name Ramsey? And let me see here, I'll tell
- 6:33you what, he has a full title. Just so you know.
- 6:36Here he is. I don't know where did they.
- 6:40Go where? Do I have a route?
- 6:43I know I have a road down. Oh, there it is.
- 6:44Ramses, God of suffering and the Reaper of Fields.
- 6:49Oh, the Reaper, See, told you grim dark.
- 6:51That sickle. This is interesting.
- 6:55I want to pee Reese or something interesting.
- 6:59Well, he's very he's, he's not on the good side.
- 7:02He because there's seven, if I remember correctly, there's
- 7:05seven gods in this world and all the other gods have kind of went
- 7:10against him and kind of putting where he's at.
- 7:13That's why she had to do what she's doing at the beginning of
- 7:17the book, because that was the only way to get to him.
- 7:19And by the way, he has green eyes.
- 7:24So I think that is why we see a little green.
- 7:30So I mean the other titles, I wonder, I mean, we could ask her
- 7:35because I haven't really, you know, that she's a newer author
- 7:38for us we're looking into. And I'm wondering because each
- 7:43of her titles have like a circle with some kind of like Celtic
- 7:47looking. What am I trying to say?
- 7:51Like a rune, I guess. Oh yeah 'cause like drawing like
- 7:56a rune and they're all different colors.
- 7:58So I wonder if that's like a symbol for like each God.
- 8:02And I wonder if each of the. Books.
- 8:05Has the same people. Or does it?
- 8:08I think we're I think we're following her.
- 8:11The girl I believe Corla, OK, is her name.
- 8:15Is that? Is that how we're pronouncing
- 8:16it? That's how I pronounced it in my
- 8:18mind. Corla again.
- 8:20You know how we are. You put a.
- 8:21Little I believe we're in there, but yeah, let's go over that.
- 8:27But, but I believe, I believe we're following her all the all
- 8:31the way through. But we'll ask.
- 8:33Yeah, because. I'm not 100% sure but I have no
- 8:37I have had this book actually on my TBR for quite a little while.
- 8:42I had it recommended to me. How this was before we even did,
- 8:47you know, ask, you know, out and into the Instagram world for
- 8:51authors that would love to to be on the the podcast.
- 8:55So I've had it on my list for a long time, but I just, I didn't
- 8:58know what it was. I just had it recommended.
- 9:01And yeah, I wish now I could have read it.
- 9:03I know this is like one of those why were you sitting on these?
- 9:08Books like these should not be sitting on a TVR.
- 9:11They need to be read. She has great writing skills.
- 9:15And, and her covers are beautiful.
- 9:17Now this is Magpie. This is the other one we were
- 9:19talking about. Look how beautiful that is.
- 9:22Oh, look at you. I'm so proud of you with your
- 9:25annotations. And then she gave us the art,
- 9:28and you have yours behind, behind you.
- 9:33Yes, my pictures. So that's not who I thought it
- 9:37would be. The couple.
- 9:40She does this really good job at making you feel like this is the
- 9:45couple. This is what's gonna happen.
- 9:47Interesting. And then you're kind of like, I
- 9:49don't know. And then it switches and you're
- 9:52like, OK, but you can kind of see she's tricky, man.
- 9:58She's tricky with that one. I have to get some little frames
- 10:02and I know little frames and stuff because they're so cute.
- 10:05And she, she signed our coffee too.
- 10:10Yeah. But again, like I said, I mean
- 10:14both. I mean, look at the artwork work
- 10:16cover snobs. Yeah.
- 10:18And I. And this one.
- 10:20Absolutely. Gorgeous.
- 10:22Definitely. Like, this is all, all of this
- 10:26is Easter eggs. I love covers that do that that
- 10:30have cues into like what you'll be seeing.
- 10:34What you're coming story interesting.
- 10:37I'm excited to read. I'm excited to read that one as
- 10:41well because I knew you were going to read that one first
- 10:43because I wanted us both to have a little thought in in both of
- 10:47them. But again, if you guys you want
- 10:52to have an amazing books, I highly recommend them.
- 10:54This is even before we talked to Parker.
- 10:56Just from our experience reading them, you will not be
- 11:00disappointed. And it's an easy read too.
- 11:02It's not. And it's not like 1 where you're
- 11:06like, oh, this is hard and this is confusing.
- 11:08It's not. She's very clear in her world
- 11:11building, very clear in what's happening.
- 11:15Yeah, even though you might not know what's happening, but you
- 11:18know what I mean. Yeah.
- 11:19So like in Magpie, I know some people get upset with timelines,
- 11:23especially like hopping timelines.
- 11:26And in this one, she does like a chapter in the past and then a
- 11:30chapter in the present and it goes back and forth and really
- 11:33like, it's so like at the end of every chapter, you're like, no,
- 11:37I need to know what happens next.
- 11:39But then she kind of like jumps to the future again, like where
- 11:42we are in present day and what she's dealing with.
- 11:45But it's like just enough to cut, like you understand what's
- 11:48going on. You understand why now we're in
- 11:51the present at this time. It's not just like hopping back
- 11:55and forth to confuse you. It really is like implanted very
- 11:59well. And I did not want to put this
- 12:02one down, like at all. And I swear at the end of every
- 12:06chapter I was like, OK, well let's get through the next one
- 12:08because I need to know what? Happened so you have to know see
- 12:12that is a mark of a very good book when it does those kind of
- 12:15things. It's not where you're like, you
- 12:18know, you actually want to continue to read to know where
- 12:20you're going. If if you get an opportunity
- 12:22ever to read the bargainer series by Laura Thalassa, the
- 12:27first book that you're reading repsotic.
- 12:29I pronounce it repsotic. I don't know if it's pronounced
- 12:33differently, but that's how I pronounce it.
- 12:35You do that kind of thing. Also in that book, you're going
- 12:39from the past to seven years in the future to present day and
- 12:44you go back and forth like that. And it was that same kind of
- 12:47feel for me when I was reading that book.
- 12:49I was like, God, I got to get to the next part because I I wanted
- 12:52to know what was what was going to happen and so that.
- 12:55That's more exciting. Now.
- 12:56There are books like that that are frustrating and you get like
- 13:00no answers or you don't don't understand, right?
- 13:03Like the the part of the story, like why did we have this
- 13:06information that those books like no, like we're getting
- 13:11answers and then questions, answers and then questions and
- 13:14you're like, OK, there's more. OK, I'm ready.
- 13:19We need to take some of the books that we consider that do
- 13:22that in the way that we don't like it.
- 13:25And we need to put that in one of our trials one of these days.
- 13:29Yeah, because, but it's good one like, is that one there?
- 13:32I was like, I love that one. But I, I, I like books that do
- 13:36that. Like you're getting the past and
- 13:38you're getting the present. Yeah, like, because sometimes to
- 13:41know and understand what's happening present day, you have
- 13:45to have that past and you have to have that back story.
- 13:48But I like when they do that and it goes back and forth and you
- 13:50see why you kind of get that kind of vibe and knocked Acadia
- 13:55too, because she she's and she has to remember because she's
- 14:02been told that she's not remembering things correctly,
- 14:05events that happen and she's remembering stuff throughout
- 14:08that book too. Remember that book has the
- 14:10worms. You have to read Nocticadia.
- 14:15I bought it on audible so. It was supposed to be really
- 14:19good on Audible. So I have.
- 14:21Is it the graphic audio? It is the regular 1.
- 14:25I don't think it's graphic. I don't think she has.
- 14:27A graphic? Oh, maybe not.
- 14:30But is it duet or is it just single narrative?
- 14:36Because I don't know. Because I never read or I never
- 14:38do audiobooks. So you're my person that would
- 14:40know. Because if Doctor Death has a
- 14:43voice, you are in for. No it just says OK so it's not a
- 14:53duet but it has dual point of view.
- 14:56So you do have two characters, 2 narrators, so a woman and a man
- 15:01probably. OK.
- 15:02You see Rock, I haven't heard of these people.
- 15:06Well, Doctor Death if if he brings Doctor Death to life.
- 15:10Why does this say? By him.
- 15:13This says by Carrie Lake and Nina on Uber sister.
- 15:18Maybe that's her. Public sure there is there two
- 15:21you. See that just started that wrote
- 15:24it just Carrie Lake. So I'm not sure.
- 15:27Maybe it's something she did with the audiobook?
- 15:30Part of it. But no on the on the book it's
- 15:33only Carrie like. OK.
- 15:35She is the Queen of Darkness. Yeah, she's good.
- 15:39She is very good and because you've read.
- 15:42Oh no, did I buy the wrong one? What did you buy?
- 15:46I think I might have. Bought the German one.
- 15:50Oh. Oh my gosh, I wonder.
- 15:56Why? I wonder if I could return it.
- 15:58Oh shit, that seems really funny to start that be like, what's
- 16:02going on? You would have some interesting
- 16:05pronunciations. My goodness, no wonder why I was
- 16:08like, I don't know these, like these are very odd names.
- 16:13It was good that we noticed it now, yeah.
- 16:16Do you have a time period of when you can return it?
- 16:19Probably, but I'm sure if I explain like message, yeah,
- 16:23it'll help me tell them you don't.
- 16:25That's so funny. You don't know.
- 16:27My gosh, why would they let me buy that?
- 16:33Did you see I never again? I don't ever buy audio books and
- 16:36stuff. Can you have it set that you can
- 16:38only select just English? No, I mean look up a title that
- 16:42gives you the title in all the languages too.
- 16:45So you have and I it. I bet that's why though.
- 16:49Yeah, I just didn't. I was going through just like,
- 16:53yeah, let me buy that one, let me buy that one, let me buy that
- 16:55one. I did a double check.
- 16:59I bet you that's that's what is. So hopefully they'll let.
- 17:01You'll have to let us know on your saga now, if they allow you
- 17:05to return that and switch it to the English.
- 17:09Otherwise, we're going to have to Start learning some German,
- 17:13yeah? Watch out guys.
- 17:17Heather's pronunciation, because it's When you hear German, it
- 17:21always sounds very like. It's more like an angry
- 17:24language. Yeah.
- 17:26And it's so. Oh, my.
- 17:28Oh, this is hilarious. Oh, my.
- 17:30You made my eyes water. You made me laugh so hard.
- 17:34So. But now the next thing is, just
- 17:37before we bring Parker in, we're going to talk about our our
- 17:41beverages. Now I'm drinking just a cherry
- 17:45Coke today. Cherry switching.
- 17:48Cherry Coke. Cherry Coke.
- 17:51It's delightful. You know, I'll drink Cherry
- 17:53Coke, but I do not like Cherry Pepsi.
- 17:56It has a different taste. I used to love Pepsi years ago.
- 18:00I know I like Coke. Yeah.
- 18:03Pepsi goes flat. It does.
- 18:06It's too soon. I don't like it.
- 18:07Yeah, maybe that's what it is. Mixture for me, but anyhow.
- 18:12What are you? What are you?
- 18:13Drinking Valaris Valaris. Why do I say Valaris?
- 18:18Valaris Water? Well, there you go.
- 18:23Court of Dreams specifically. That cup there I think will fit
- 18:29in my giant in my giant new purse I got.
- 18:32Oh, for sure I can. I can fit a lot of stuff in that
- 18:35purse. That is so pretty.
- 18:37And who was it? Now what is the the lady's name
- 18:39that you got that? Amy she Zoo ZOO Andrew Roo She
- 18:46has a bunch of bookish. I'll put a link we'll link her
- 18:52in our when we post this on our Instagram alone we and stuff,
- 18:58but now on our just since those are our drinks.
- 19:01But now these are the drinks that we want you to make.
- 19:04Now you have to go on our highlights on our Instagram 2
- 19:07girls, 1 TBR and go to Sips because Parker said that she is
- 19:11a beverage goblin. So she's a self-proclaimed
- 19:15beverage goblin. So we got a collection of drinks
- 19:18that represent the light and the dark of her worlds.
- 19:21You can find the you know, like I said, you can find the full
- 19:23recipes and the how to on our Instagram under 2 girls, 1 TBR
- 19:29under the highlights sips. The first one is the caged God.
- 19:34That's a little hint there. That's the alcoholic one.
- 19:38It's a dark divine pack in a glass.
- 19:42And the other one is the Magpies echo.
- 19:45That's the mocktail. That one is reclaiming your
- 19:49color from the shadows. Cool, I like that.
- 19:53So again, I hope somebody makes these lovely drinks or Heather's
- 19:58going to extend her hobbies into drink making and be you would be
- 20:04you would be a bartender, right? Would that be the right?
- 20:07Because a barista is a person does what a barista is only is
- 20:12that only coffee? That's only coffee.
- 20:14OK. I think it's a mixologist if you
- 20:17do like the fancier. Stuff, well you could be fancy.
- 20:20I bet you they have online that you can get yourself certified
- 20:25as a mixologist and you can be even fancier.
- 20:27I don't know, but you need to like my ADHD like would be like,
- 20:32yeah, let's do that next and then fall short with that and
- 20:36like find something else to do in the between.
- 20:38How is your your going? It's not going right now.
- 20:44Again, ADHDI was like, yeah, I've got to get this like done.
- 20:47I got to figure this out. And then I started doing short
- 20:52and long stitches and I'm on my green right now.
- 20:55This is going to be satin, but this is short and long and I
- 20:58don't know. I'm just.
- 20:59Cute. It's not bad, definitely need
- 21:03practice and I need to watch some more videos on how short
- 21:07and long work because to me it looks more chain like instead of
- 21:12seamless like it's supposed to so I want to like see some other
- 21:16people do it catch on. I think what would be good for
- 21:19you, because you're doing like that's embroidery.
- 21:22That is a much harder thing to do or don't do counted cross
- 21:28stitch because that is the kind where you get the material and
- 21:31you have to count the little. Don't do that.
- 21:33What you need to do is you need to get some stamped cross
- 21:37stitch. You can go, there's a website
- 21:40called I'm going to this is German.
- 21:43It's Herschers. That's how I pronounce it.
- 21:48But it's but it that you can get the the catalog and it has all
- 21:52kinds of embroidery and things like that.
- 21:55And they have a ton of stamped cross stitch and they have like
- 21:59pillowcases your like your doilies to go on your dresser or
- 22:06runners for your table. And they have bigger
- 22:08tablecloths. I mean, you can do all different
- 22:09ones, but the it's stamped, the pattern is stamped on there and
- 22:14you just have to make XS and then you have to do a little
- 22:17outlining and stuff. But it's not quite as
- 22:19complicated as what you're trying to do.
- 22:22But it's a place. I choose everything hard in my
- 22:26life. Oh, no.
- 22:30Oh no. Well, let's see, that could go a
- 22:33lot of different ways there, Heather.
- 22:35So I'm laughing so hard because I really didn't mean it.
- 22:39Well, we've seen your skills with the the champagne bottle.
- 22:45Everything has to come out difficult, OK?
- 22:51Oh God, that's so. Oh my God, that's so funny.
- 22:55Only Heather. Only Heather.
- 22:57Only me but. You but you, but you are
- 23:01embracing your granny hobbies for sure.
- 23:05Yeah, Yep. And I think the next one I'm
- 23:08going to do, I found this like on Instagram, I keep, I keep
- 23:12finding stuff there. There was stained glass puzzles
- 23:17that you put together and then it goes into like an acrylic
- 23:22like window frame and you put it in a it's interesting and you
- 23:26hang it. Yeah.
- 23:27So I'm like, oh, I like puzzles. Yeah.
- 23:29Have you? Seen now, stained glass is it's
- 23:32an art and you have to cut glass and do all that.
- 23:35Yeah. I mean, it is beautiful.
- 23:38I don't know if I had, it's not that I wouldn't have the
- 23:41patience, but I would cut myself or I would do something wrong.
- 23:44And I would because I know when they buy those big panels of
- 23:47stained glass, it's, it's pricey, but they have this other
- 23:51thing if you want to try. Have you seen it?
- 23:54They have stained glass paint. Oh yes, so then I was also
- 23:59thinking like, oh, I have all these windows in in my library
- 24:02here, right? And I was like trying to read
- 24:04the other day. And instead I was looking at my
- 24:06windows thinking like, what would I paint on my windows?
- 24:09I need to look up stained glass paint.
- 24:12Or, or you can get to ADHD now. Now if you don't want to do
- 24:17that, they do have the the the the window cling that you can
- 24:22get and you can make your window stained glass and you can send
- 24:24rainbows into your room. That's I've sent you videos of
- 24:29different things that I want you to do to.
- 24:32Yeah, sorry. I want you to make it a dark
- 24:34space. I don't I.
- 24:36Don't know about dark. Are you not a dark?
- 24:39Are you not a dark space? Kind of I, I like, that's weird
- 24:42because like, I like dark academia.
- 24:44I like when people do dark libraries.
- 24:46I do, but I don't know, I feel like maybe because I've been in
- 24:51the dark for like a while now and I'm finally coming back to
- 24:56the light and like seeing the good in life again.
- 25:00Like I need the brightness right now.
- 25:04Now this is my dream for your office, even though I'm going to
- 25:07live vicariously through you and try to force you to do this.
- 25:09But yeah, I'm just getting but but if I now, if it was my
- 25:12space, I would do like the deep like a really deep plum or a
- 25:17real deep like Navy. And then like, I don't know, I'm
- 25:24leaning towards that Navy I seen the other day.
- 25:26And then I would put those real pretty gold stars like the stars
- 25:30are. All.
- 25:31Ceiling. And is your ceiling smooth or is
- 25:33it texture? Yeah, you.
- 25:35Have so many options. My ceiling is.
- 25:38Cottage smooth cheese. It's, well, it's not even
- 25:42cottage cheese. It's just like real heavy
- 25:44textured, OK, You know, it's more, it's just real rough.
- 25:48I mean, maybe, but I always look at the because this is not our
- 25:53forever ever house, you know, it's for the next probably 5-8
- 26:00years. That's my goal because I want
- 26:02to, I want to move to something even bigger is my goal.
- 26:05But I have to think of if someone else wanted to come in
- 26:09here, would they like my? Would they?
- 26:12Like my dark? My whimsy and my dark because I
- 26:14want to make my house into like a witch's cottage that's out in
- 26:19the middle of, you know, or a, a wizard's place that's had many
- 26:24travels. Very cool.
- 26:25And I like dark things. I really want I want to get
- 26:28those sconces and they look like this coming out of your wall
- 26:31like somebody's hands. They say they're for Halloween.
- 26:34No, they're not. They're for all time for me and
- 26:36I want those and, and that's what I I have thoughts.
- 26:40These are my I don't want to quite be like that one lady I
- 26:43sent you that did like the Harry Potter room and stuff.
- 26:46I mean, I loved it. I love her ceiling and stuff,
- 26:49but it's, it's almost too pinky colour for me.
- 26:53I need darker. I.
- 26:56Also I wear black a lot. I changed my mind a lot so I
- 27:02have a feeling like I'm a mood reader too.
- 27:05So if anything I have to have maybe I'll do 4 corners in here,
- 27:13like one dark, 1 like bohemian, one bright.
- 27:18I don't know, like that's how like I feel like I would be
- 27:20because I'm such a mood reader and I like to be immersive at
- 27:24times, but. You could move yourself around
- 27:28to the areas. Whatever vibe you are, you can
- 27:30move it as your background. Yeah, why aren't?
- 27:32You that would be that would be a neat idea, yeah.
- 27:36And but I do think though, since you the way you are, I do think
- 27:40you should look at on like on Amazon and do the window where
- 27:43it's just that you can peel it off Yes, because otherwise if
- 27:47you that would be a process if you but that's too easy to
- 27:50scrape it. Rebecca, remember, that's easy.
- 27:52Oh, that's right. You do everything hard.
- 27:54Yeah, difficult. I have to do it myself.
- 27:58OK, get the paint and the rainbows on the window by
- 28:03myself. Have you told, have you told
- 28:06Jordan that these are your plans?
- 28:08No, definitely not. Oh, he doesn't.
- 28:10So he doesn't know what he might have to do.
- 28:12No, I mean like the bookshelves up here.
- 28:15Like I definitely tried myself and then interrupted him while
- 28:19he was watching his playoff games come in and help.
- 28:24So he'll just, he'll just be surprised.
- 28:26Yeah, you know, and give me a little huff and puff, but it
- 28:29gets done. So that's good book husband, I
- 28:33guess. Quite that way.
- 28:35Yeah. That's hilarious.
- 28:37Go on. So now we've discovered that
- 28:42Heather only likes things hard and.
- 28:44And that she orders audiobooks in Germany.
- 28:47Yes, that is what we've discovered today and that she's
- 28:51got her granny hobbies going on. This is what we've learned
- 28:55today. Oh my God.
- 29:00This is wouldn't want to know me.
- 29:04This is why you're my one of my besties.
- 29:06Oh. See wait wait till wait till
- 29:10Chelsea gets to hear our awesome episode with this.
- 29:14You know, I read I saw a reel the other day.
- 29:16Some guy was like marry someone with ADHD because you'll never
- 29:22be bored like you. That is true.
- 29:26Like I have just yes, this is ADHD yeah cuz you get.
- 29:32Bored, you get hyper you get hyperfixated on something yeah,
- 29:36you know and then and then you're like and then you see
- 29:39something else and then you get hyperfixated on that and then
- 29:41you forget about the other thing that you've done and I do that
- 29:44with other. I bought a planner cuz I'm going
- 29:48to, I always buy a planner every year because I have to keep
- 29:50track of certain things and I'm like this is going to be the
- 29:53year I'm going to really write. Do you think I have?
- 29:58I bought stickers and everything I know.
- 30:00You try, you try to like really amp it up and be like, OK, I'm
- 30:03going to this is going to be fun.
- 30:05This is and this is going. To be the year.
- 30:07And then you forget to look at it and they're like, OK, OK, I'm
- 30:09going to go back. OK, we're going to do it this
- 30:11month. And then I mean, even I think
- 30:14I'm a few weeks behind on mine and.
- 30:19Yeah, but this is what happens to us.
- 30:21I. Think this.
- 30:22Is why we, I think This is why we, This is why we are friends.
- 30:27I think it's, you know, we have bonded over all these weird
- 30:31things that we, we accept each other through all of our
- 30:35weirdnesses. Yeah.
- 30:37And that's because you and I, you know, we're just who we are,
- 30:40who we are, and we are who we are with each other.
- 30:44This is, this is what you're seeing here is This Is Us.
- 30:47Yeah. This is not like some, you know,
- 30:48how like some people have like a real fake facade and that kind
- 30:52of thing. No, this is what life is like
- 30:54with us. This is me if you want to come
- 30:57have coffee with me like this is me.
- 31:00This is why I wish. Really weird things.
- 31:05This is why I wish we were we we all lived closer to each other.
- 31:09But but the one thing I told Chelsea, this is one thing
- 31:12before we go get Parker, this is something I want to do is I want
- 31:16all of us to get together and some of our other friends and be
- 31:18on here, not we don't have to record it be just us together.
- 31:22I want to do a conspiracy theory party.
- 31:25Have you ever seen one of those? And like everybody comes up with
- 31:28their own conspiracy theory that's going on and they have to
- 31:32convince everybody else to go along to leave with their.
- 31:35Conspiracy theory. Somebody doing that on
- 31:38Instagram? Like some people have tinfoil
- 31:40hats on and you know, it's because it's all, you know, it
- 31:43can be any because remember, there's always, nobody is
- 31:48batting one. What is it, 1000 or 100?
- 31:51Whatever it is in baseball, nobody is doing that.
- 31:54So there are, I do believe some of the theories that are out
- 31:57there are true. And I just like listening to
- 32:00them too. Like like, like, like theories
- 32:03in the book, right? Like when people get into like
- 32:06alcatar theories, I'm always like, that's a good one, you
- 32:10know? Like it could that happen?
- 32:13There's some good ones out. There.
- 32:15Oh yeah. I mean, just like ones like
- 32:17Chelsea and I have done, and then you and I have done.
- 32:19It's just there's so many of them.
- 32:22And now that we're getting closer and closer to Akatar
- 32:25being released, we have to do a couple more Akatar episodes
- 32:31between now and then. When I reread, I'm down.
- 32:36When are you going to reread? I was like in August.
- 32:39Okay. Yeah.
- 32:41Are you going to just read ACOTAR or are you going to read
- 32:43Crescent City too? Probably all of them tog.
- 32:47Are you going to do audio? Yeah, so you can get through
- 32:51them all. Yeah.
- 32:52And then just kind of highlight right down, like my
- 32:55interconnections, because I remember certain things in Tog
- 32:59happening that I remember Crescent City talking about.
- 33:03And then ACOTAR, of course, but they already interconnect.
- 33:07But I remember like certain people, like creatures and
- 33:11things like that. And I'm like, oh, I need to go
- 33:13back and like highlight the stuff so.
- 33:16Again, I'm still I'm still shocked that that Briaxis is she
- 33:24Yeah, still shocked on that did. You hear about that one where
- 33:27they think Briaxis. Briaxis is inside a lane and
- 33:33that's why she is like searing and like having her mental
- 33:40breakdown. Possessed.
- 33:42Yeah. I think Briaxis, no, I think
- 33:46they're out like having the best time in the world right now.
- 33:49I think they're out wandering around.
- 33:51But I do think they were the gatekeeper to hell because
- 33:54that's 7 levels of the library, 7 levels of hell.
- 33:58And that was the pit there has there's some, they're they're
- 34:01all Sarah's very intentional. Yeah, and she's very
- 34:05interconnected. All of those questions on the
- 34:07podcast when we were like getting into her, into the weird
- 34:11theories, like kind of like a *1.
- 34:13She's like, who thinks of these things?
- 34:14And we're like. You do.
- 34:15And then she's like, Oh yeah. And she's like, yeah.
- 34:18So that's. I can't say these things.
- 34:21But you can tell though, just by her response with that, that
- 34:24some of us. Are on to something.
- 34:27Or we're on to something. We're.
- 34:29Close or we've hit the the little point there, so.
- 34:34Interesting. But now we will be right back.
- 34:37We're going to go get Parker and and drag her down into our
- 34:41insanity that we. OK.
- 34:46Welcome, Parker. Welcome to the podcast.
- 34:49Thank you for having me. Yeah.
- 34:53So we were just talking about your covers and you were saying
- 34:56the girl or the artist that does Crowns of Nyaxia did yours?
- 35:02Yeah. Which both of them or or just
- 35:05the trilogy? She's done all of my covers so
- 35:07far. I've got a series coming out in
- 35:09October and I've got a different cover artist for that.
- 35:12But every other covers you've done for Sweet.
- 35:14That's why they're so good. And we were saying they they
- 35:16have little Easter eggs. And then because I was telling
- 35:20her about magpie, I'm like all of that.
- 35:22You'll you'll see it. That is something that like all
- 35:25of my readers constantly mentioned.
- 35:27They're like, I love how much just seeing the covers, I can
- 35:30like understand, like this is going to tie into the story.
- 35:34And we are cover snobs in that sense of like, we love to pick
- 35:38up those those things. So like the sickle there.
- 35:41I was like, Oh, it's giving me grim dark.
- 35:43And I only started the first few pages this morning on that one,
- 35:46but Rebecca has gotten a little further in the series and and
- 35:53he's the God of. Pesticides.
- 35:57Well, he's he's, he's the God of suffering and the Reaper of
- 36:01fields. Reaper.
- 36:03Of the fields, I was like, oh boom, got it very happy.
- 36:10Like Hades and Persephone vibes. Like it's definitely loosely
- 36:14based on Greek mythology. So a lot of the gods that you
- 36:17see in the book correlate to gods in Greek mythology.
- 36:21Love it to say I've met Ramses there at the beginning because
- 36:26it's Ramsay. Yes, pronouncing correctly, OK,
- 36:28because again, you know how we are.
- 36:31But he is. I love how he's very dark and I
- 36:35like that he has green eyes. I just want to put that out
- 36:38there. Generally he has Gray eyes.
- 36:41Gray. Oh, is it Gray?
- 36:42Did I read it wrong? I must have.
- 36:44Put herself, her own man, together in her head.
- 36:48I have him in my mind as green eyes.
- 36:50OK, pick Gray eyes. Well, that still works for me as
- 36:52well. I was like, there is someone in
- 36:54there with green eyes. Oh, so maybe I was so.
- 36:59I'm not going to say anything. OK, so I got to OK, I got to a
- 37:03part and it said green OK, so that.
- 37:05Was it around? Was that perhaps when she was
- 37:07around a bonfire? Yes, OK, that's where I am.
- 37:11Character two different. You're mixing them.
- 37:14I'm mixing them. OK, Everybody always assumes
- 37:17it's the same one, which is kind of what I intended.
- 37:19So. Oh, I love that.
- 37:21Oh, this has intrigued me more. I have to tell you, we
- 37:25absolutely love your writing style.
- 37:27Yeah, I love your. Well, both of us.
- 37:29We both can say is we love how you do your world building.
- 37:32It's very vivid in our lines and it's just you know what's going
- 37:38on even though you're thrown into it.
- 37:40You don't know what's going on, but yet you guide us in.
- 37:44So far what I've read so far it's amazing and I highly
- 37:47recommend. Yes.
- 37:48Well, thank you. That's another thing a lot of my
- 37:51readers and my street team, it tells me a lot if they like that
- 37:55I do gradual world building because I do write in a very
- 37:58like intentionally confusing style.
- 38:01I throw you into the middle of the story.
- 38:03I don't give you a lot of preamble.
- 38:05You learn alongside the characters, but one of the
- 38:09things they always mention, they're like your descriptions.
- 38:12They're like, I can perfectly picture what you're talking
- 38:15about. Like it almost plays out like a
- 38:16movie in my mind. Yes, yes.
- 38:18That's why you're intended yes. It is amazing.
- 38:22It's so captivating and I love being immersed in reads.
- 38:26I'm a immersive reader with like my audio books and stuff too.
- 38:29So this one was so easy and then Magpie, you kind of do that here
- 38:34too, and we were talking about timelines with this 1.
- 38:37So it's a pass Oh my God, you've got so many little tabs in it.
- 38:44I went through this one and whatever kind of stuck out, I
- 38:48only had so many tabs, so I was like really trying to get the
- 38:52good stuff and I'll go through it with you one day.
- 38:56I whenever my like like street team or anybody tells me that
- 39:01they've annotated my book, I'm like the amount of money I would
- 39:04pay to have that copy and to get to see like what stuck out to
- 39:08you and what you wanted to underline and highlight.
- 39:10Oh yeah, I'll take pictures of it and send it to you.
- 39:13Oh my God, keep that up. Yes, cuz it's like those like in
- 39:17depth moments that where like the emotion just like hits hard
- 39:21and you're like yeah, that's a good one.
- 39:24Magpie is my favorite story that I've ever written and will
- 39:26probably forever be my favorite story that I This one's going to
- 39:30stick with me forever and for Dave, I'm.
- 39:32Excited to read it because I started with the other one and
- 39:35then I'm going to read that one. I'm very excited because Heather
- 39:39told me it's amazing. And we thought it was a stand
- 39:43alone. And then I wrote the back and
- 39:46there may be more to come. So it is a stand alone.
- 39:50So the story in and of itself, like without obviously trying to
- 39:55say this without spoiling, OK, the main character story is
- 39:59done. Correct.
- 40:00So it'll be an interconnected yeah.
- 40:03And you will not need to know anything about Magpie to know
- 40:07the other story. Like you can read them
- 40:09separately and be perfectly fine.
- 40:12And there might be like, little Easter eggs and little hints and
- 40:14stuff that will it deeper if you've read both, but you won't
- 40:19have to. But that story, that story is
- 40:22nowhere on my publication schedule.
- 40:23So. Oh, no, I know it's OK.
- 40:26But I'm so excited for it because when I got to that point
- 40:30where with that other couple, I was like, oh, that would be a
- 40:32good like, kind of yeah, way to go into another chat or into
- 40:38another like series part of it. Because I had already started
- 40:41writing, because I probably have, I mean, an untold amount
- 40:45of half finished manuscripts on my laptop at just any point in
- 40:48time. So I'd already started writing
- 40:50this one story, but I hadn't given any of the characters
- 40:52names yet. I was sort of just outlining it.
- 40:55And when I was writing Magpie and I got to those characters, I
- 40:58was like, oh, these are those characters.
- 41:02Sweet. That was just their story that
- 41:03I'm writing. OK, OK, cool.
- 41:05And then I was able to go in and like actually start giving it
- 41:08depth and detail. And it is a very cool story and
- 41:11I am excited to release it and I will release it.
- 41:14I just, it's whatever characters are talking to me at the time
- 41:18are the ones that I focus on. And so obviously I've got the
- 41:22Fates and Twins series that's ongoing.
- 41:25And then this new story that I'm releasing in October has just
- 41:30completely captivated me. And it's quickly becoming it's
- 41:32trying to outpace Magpie as my favorite thing I've ever.
- 41:36OK, no, now this one. Now this is this is going to be
- 41:40more than a trilogy or oh, I just thought it was a trilogy.
- 41:45Like more. Exciting.
- 41:47I know I felt so bad because again, I had readers who were
- 41:50like, yes, we finally get to the end to this and I'm like, oh,
- 41:52don't go into this expecting it to wrap up.
- 41:55No, no, that's even more exciting.
- 41:58Yeah. And then now Book 3 just came
- 42:01out. Two days.
- 42:03Two or three days ago. Yeah. 24.
- 42:05Yeah. Last Friday it came out.
- 42:08So you'll get at least another book in the Fades and Twine
- 42:11series, but probably 5. I would say it's probably going
- 42:14to be 5. OK, well, that's exciting.
- 42:17Exciting. I love when you get to know a
- 42:21world and you love the world and it never ends.
- 42:24I think that's why I'm a sucker for a series because when I get
- 42:28characters that I love so much, I want more of it.
- 42:32And I always hate like when I fall in love with a book and
- 42:36with characters and it's a series, but then they continue
- 42:39on with different characters in series.
- 42:41I'm like, no, no, go back to the ones that I love.
- 42:43Like I just convinced my two of my PAS to read Bride and Mate
- 42:49and I'm like, I would read A7 book series based on mate like
- 42:54because I love the bride. But then I read Mate and I was
- 42:56like, this is one of my favorite books I've ever read.
- 42:58Like if I had just thought about their series with like Serena
- 43:02and Keon, I'd be so happy. OK, you make me want to read
- 43:05that now. It's been on my radar, but I'm
- 43:08like. Because I've heard that because
- 43:10people have said that bride is good, but they said mate is like
- 43:14chef kiss with it, yeah. I did not think I would like it
- 43:18more because like vampires are my bread and butter.
- 43:20I love vampires so and I like vampires more than I like
- 43:24werewolves. So when it went from vampires to
- 43:26werewolf, I like it, but I probably won't like it as much.
- 43:30No, it's good. Far and away exceeded my
- 43:33expectations. And I'm like, I want to reread
- 43:36that and I already just read it. Yeah.
- 43:38And I like Ali. I love her books.
- 43:41And I read The Deep End last summer and it was really good.
- 43:46I haven't read that one yet because I it.
- 43:48I'm such a fantasy person. I have only recently started
- 43:52dipping my toe into more contemporary stuff.
- 43:55But the majority of what I read has to do me too.
- 44:00If I get a recommendation like our friend Chelsea that's on
- 44:03here, usually she's our contemporary girl.
- 44:06And if she's like, this is so good, I'll be like, all right,
- 44:09I'll try it, I'll try it. But I'm mainly like thrillers or
- 44:14like mystery also kind of up there with like, you know, I
- 44:18dabble in it. But I think of majority as
- 44:21fantasy now that there is fantasy.
- 44:23Because I was that kid that had like Twilight in Harry Potter
- 44:26and then there was nothing else for 10 years while I was in
- 44:29school. And then all of a sudden I
- 44:32became a mom and got my Kindle back out and I was like, Oh my
- 44:35gosh, what are all these fantasy series?
- 44:38Didn't know these existed. So I'm like catching up now with
- 44:41all my fantasy. That's great.
- 44:42I went through the reading slump that I feel like everybody went
- 44:45through where you just had like a five year stint of like not
- 44:48really reading anything. And I was going on vacation.
- 44:51I was like, I really need a book to read.
- 44:52What my friend was like, I think you would like the Night Circus.
- 44:55She's like, if you've never read it, you should read this book.
- 44:57I really feel like you would love it and I it like it
- 45:02reminded me that I wanted to be a writer.
- 45:03It was literally the reason why I left the career I was in to
- 45:06then pursue in the like authorship.
- 45:09It was one of those books where I was like, reading this makes
- 45:12me feel like magic exists. This is the type of writer I
- 45:15want to be. And then I got done with that
- 45:17and was like, what are some series that are like the night
- 45:20circuits? And it recommended Terravel.
- 45:22And I got done with that trilogy.
- 45:24And I was like, what are some series that are like Terravel?
- 45:27And that was the first time because Google was like, here
- 45:29are some enemies to lover series.
- 45:32What's enemies to lovers? And then the first book it
- 45:35recommended was Akotar. And I was like, yes, I'll give
- 45:38this a try and read all of them in like a week.
- 45:41And was like, OK, now I'm a yes, Oh my gosh.
- 45:45And trope were like brand new to me.
- 45:47I'm like, what the heck are tropes?
- 45:49Why are people talking about this thing called tropes?
- 45:52Like you just pick up a book and read the synopsis and read the
- 45:55book. Like, yeah.
- 45:55Yeah, we didn't know anything, had no idea until we like,
- 45:58because like, I read up like years ago, I was into like,
- 46:03murder, like, like medical thrillers, those kind of things.
- 46:07Yeah, yeah. Gear to send.
- 46:09I know I'm probably pronouncing her name wrong.
- 46:11I would read Janet Ivanovich because I liked her Stephanie
- 46:14Plum series. I would read those kind of
- 46:16things. And then I had kids.
- 46:18And then I, I stopped reading because I didn't have time for
- 46:22myself because I had too many people attached to me.
- 46:25And. And then I started reading here
- 46:28a couple years ago, and Akhtar was actually the series that
- 46:32that started me back into reading, and it has exploded.
- 46:37Like I'm like that's everybody's introductory, but.
- 46:41And then now I'm deeper by villain era, that is where,
- 46:44yeah. She's into her dark romance now.
- 46:47Yeah, that's I've, I've tried dark romance, so I'm fine with
- 46:51that. Like she.
- 46:53I think you would love Magpie like after.
- 46:55You read? Path of sorrow like go and read
- 46:59my. Read that one.
- 47:01Because you're gonna be excited for the villain and he is
- 47:04villainous and you're gonna still be like, well, can he
- 47:07redeem himself? And you're gonna love it.
- 47:12I have so many people like ARC readers when, because that was
- 47:17the third book that I released. So most of my ARC readers were
- 47:20already a little like familiar with my writing style.
- 47:23And I had so many of them when they were reading Magpie, like
- 47:26making content about that one particular character or like
- 47:31sending me DMS about him being like, Oh my God, the way you're
- 47:34making me fall in love with him. And I was just like, and in my
- 47:40mind, it was since obviously I wrote it, I'm like, it's very
- 47:43obvious to me that that character is the villain.
- 47:49And my husband had been like, no, it's obvious to you because
- 47:51it's in your mind. It's not obvious to anyone else.
- 47:54I was like, oh, OK. Like he's, he's dark and
- 47:57dangerous. Like he is like that captivating
- 47:59villain that you're like, oh, she's falling for the bad boy.
- 48:03And then this, the picture that you sent us, I was picturing him
- 48:08like that. And I was like, like, OK, yeah,
- 48:09I can kind of see that. Wait, the car?
- 48:12I mean, like, is that how she described him?
- 48:15And then I realized it may be another person.
- 48:20Yeah. See.
- 48:21Interesting. Yeah, you should never, never
- 48:25expect anything in my way. It is everything is always.
- 48:30Like I love turning a trope on at 10.
- 48:33I love just like completely going the opposite way of your
- 48:37expectations and like leading you to think I'm going to take
- 48:40you that way and then take you. And I love those kind of reads,
- 48:44right? Because I'm like, oh, this is
- 48:46the the romance. OK, OK.
- 48:49Oh, oh, wait, what's happening now?
- 48:51Like he like, I literally like during the part where he's in
- 48:56the past and we figure out like him and Irena and I was like,
- 49:02EW, like that's how he was before.
- 49:05In my mind. I was like, OK, I don't like him
- 49:07now. And then it starts like spiral.
- 49:09And then I'm like, oh, oh, Oh, yeah.
- 49:13Oh, oh, good now. But I really thought like that
- 49:17was the end game guy every like that spoiler it will.
- 49:21And again, I'm not trying to figure out how to say this
- 49:25without doing any spoilers, but if that is how you felt reading
- 49:28Magpie, I'm very excited for you to read the sequel.
- 49:31If you ever get to the sequel of Your Path is Sorrow Because Your
- 49:35Path is Sacrifice has a very big rug pool moment as well.
- 49:40Oh. Sweet.
- 49:42I love that. Love it.
- 49:45OK, can I go right now? That's interesting.
- 49:49Now what would you say your favorite trope?
- 49:52Or what are your top three favorite tropes to write?
- 49:55Enemies to lovers, force proximity and oh, like my mind
- 50:04wants to say faded mates, but I don't necessarily write that.
- 50:08I just that's a tope I like to read.
- 50:12I really like dream walking any kind of like dream stuff I'm a
- 50:16big fan of but I don't know top three I couldn't name.
- 50:23But definitely enemies to lovers and forced proximity as.
- 50:26Those two. The top two, Yeah, yeah.
- 50:29Those were my favorite. Just at a book con over this
- 50:32last weekend and there was a girl who was selling these
- 50:35really cute embroidered like things and she was, it was
- 50:39embroidery and beads and one of them just said enemies to lovers
- 50:42on it. And so I bought that one.
- 50:44Yep. Heather.
- 50:45Maybe I should get into that. That is your next thing like
- 50:49this has. Granny hobbies, like, yeah, I
- 50:52was like, it looked like that it you just would have like little
- 50:56babies on it too. Stuff a lot.
- 50:58See, I just started. This is my first one I've ever
- 51:01done. So great for your first.
- 51:03Thank you. Yeah, I I'm artsy, but I have
- 51:07ADHD, so I dabble in a lot of different hobbies.
- 51:10I was gonna say you have 50 different hobbies.
- 51:12Yeah, yeah. Some of it is like, I like,
- 51:17decorated my wall finally, just because I got some fire under my
- 51:21butt. And I was like, OK, I'm going to
- 51:23do this while my husband's watching the playoff games for
- 51:26the Stanley Cup. And then like halfway through
- 51:29it, I drilled some holes that weren't supposed to be where
- 51:32they were. And I was like, so is it OK like
- 51:35that? Like, you're like the hole
- 51:37coming out of the wall, Is that OK?
- 51:40And he was like, you know. He did come and put them up for
- 51:45you though in the. Middle of it.
- 51:46And then I was like, Oh my God, I got Empire and he left.
- 51:49And then I was like. What so like I mean?
- 51:53Can I he just, I ended up being like, well, why don't you just
- 51:57hold it there? You're taller than you.
- 51:59She ended up doing it with me. Like, see, I'm the exact
- 52:02opposite where like I'll get those ideas in my mind and start
- 52:06doing them. My husband will be like, do you
- 52:08want help? But I'm like, no, like no, that
- 52:10doesn't like slowly falling on me.
- 52:12Oh yeah, it's. OK, I don't want to be about
- 52:14yeah, what it says like two people need to like put this
- 52:16together. I'm like, no, it's a suggestion.
- 52:19I like things hard. OK, I collected 3 challenging
- 52:23things by myself. Oh.
- 52:28Lord, you crack my heart inside. Oh, Lord.
- 52:32But when we were talking about like standalone kind of things,
- 52:35books that you wish that continued on, the one that I
- 52:39wish that would continue on, which I know will never continue
- 52:43on, even though I know there was like a bonus chapters with it
- 52:46because we were talking about it earlier was Noctocadia.
- 52:48I don't know if Parker, if you've ever read that, by Carrie
- 52:51Lake. I own it, but I have not read it
- 52:54yet. Oh, you've not read it yet?
- 52:55Oh, it's, oh, it's so dark. I thought I bought the audio
- 52:58book for it and I bought it in German.
- 53:02Yeah. Well, so I have to try and
- 53:04return that. You're like I just exchange.
- 53:08Yeah, I'm sure they would. I just have to, you know, one
- 53:12day get on, do that, but. Like, but that is 1 I wish would
- 53:17continue on. I mean they she does do like
- 53:19bonus chapters kind of deal. It's like 5 chapters extra and
- 53:24it follows 2 people that you meet in the book.
- 53:28But she I think it's, it's done. But I wish she would have.
- 53:32And that's one of those kind of things.
- 53:35But that was the one you go on. Forever.
- 53:38Well, if you meet Doctor Death, you'll understand why you want
- 53:41to see more of Doctor Death, Doctor.
- 53:44Death just makes me think of that podcast about this.
- 53:46They're just not like I've screwed up a lot of people.
- 53:49Yeah. Have you seen that, Rebecca?
- 53:51Or no. Podcast.
- 53:55Yeah, it is horrified. It's wild.
- 53:57So this is. This what it's called.
- 54:00It's called doctor death, right? And it's somebody does, like, a
- 54:04series about this Doctor Who was a legit doctor, neurosurgeon and
- 54:09somehow passed boards and somehow got a license to drill
- 54:13into people. And he was, like, crazy into
- 54:16drugs. And I don't know what the heck
- 54:18he was doing. And he would go, like into
- 54:20surgery and do these surgeries and, like, too much kill people,
- 54:23like, just botch them or like, they'd go in for a simple
- 54:26surgery and come out paralyzed. Yeah.
- 54:29No, he's a horrible person. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:31It was still life. It was like instead of going
- 54:36like instead of anybody going to the board and trying to revoke
- 54:39his license, the hospitals were just shuffling him from
- 54:42hospital, the hospital, the hospital, but like sweeping
- 54:44everything under the rug and not saying anything about it.
- 54:47Oh well, he's a horrible. Is this man still alive?
- 54:50I think so. I think so.
- 54:51I was like, it was pretty recent because it was another doctor at
- 54:55a hospital that he worked with who eventually started
- 54:57realizing, like, this guy is watching a bunch of surgeries.
- 55:00Yeah, we're going to try to get a patient's line.
- 55:03We need to do something about this.
- 55:05Interesting. Well, I don't know.
- 55:07Hopefully he's in prison now. I did go to prison.
- 55:11Honestly I don't know cuz when I listen to it I don't think it
- 55:17had wrapped up yet at that point and I haven't revisited it
- 55:20since. And then books took over in my
- 55:21life. Yeah.
- 55:23Interesting. I'll have to look that I like I
- 55:25like to listen to podcasts that that do a lot of like involving
- 55:29true crime, murder. Those you'd like that, yeah.
- 55:32I love that kind. It's my murder point you.
- 55:34Would like this podcast, especially if you listen to, oh,
- 55:41I'm forgetting the name of it, but it'll come to me later.
- 55:44But yeah, if you like true crime, you'll like this podcast.
- 55:46Yeah, I did. And I like to watch that kind of
- 55:49stuff on TVI did see there's a new one that it's Evil Lives
- 55:53here because that's one of the shows that I like to watch.
- 55:55And it's like people, they go back and they're people that
- 55:58actually lived with these people, or they were friends
- 56:00with them, or they were their husband and etcetera.
- 56:03But serial killer? People.
- 56:05Well, it could be, it could be, you know, murderers.
- 56:07It could be just, well, they are basically the other.
- 56:09I think most of them are all murderers.
- 56:11They did something really bad. But this new, this new section
- 56:14of it is that it's their children.
- 56:17Their children are the murderers.
- 56:19They've done something bad because I mean, like, what do
- 56:21you do? You have these children, you
- 56:23have them there that you're definitely, but but they are
- 56:26picking up on things that are not normal with their children
- 56:29and they're talking about it, but they don't realize at the
- 56:32time what it's going to lead to, you know, and that.
- 56:37So I'm like, see, I like watching that kind of stuff like
- 56:41fold laundry. That's when I like to watch.
- 56:44Yeah, yeah, yeah. For me it's TV but I like my
- 56:50shitty little reality. What's?
- 56:56That I was going to ask her what reality shows are.
- 56:58Yeah, on these days. My top tier ones are any of the
- 57:03Real Housewives franchise like Beverly Hills, Potomac or Salt
- 57:06Lake City are the ones that I watch the most.
- 57:09And then of course, like Love is Blind is a big one as well.
- 57:13Stupidest show in the world. I eat it up.
- 57:15Or like Married at First Sight, any of those like dating type of
- 57:19shows. I watched Age of Attraction, but
- 57:22it was basically just a bunch of creepy old men going up their
- 57:25young girls. And I was like, I really hope
- 57:28this show doesn't get a second season.
- 57:29This is gross. I like, I like to watch
- 57:34documentary kind of things. I don't really watch a lot of
- 57:38which I mean they are reality because you're following like,
- 57:41you know, like the secrets of Skinwalker Ranch or, or the is
- 57:47it the secret of Skinwalker Ranch?
- 57:48And then there's the the mystery at Blind Frog Ranch.
- 57:52I like those kind of things. But I did watch years ago, there
- 57:56was a reality show called, it was like the Love Cruise and it
- 58:01was on. And I watched this was like many
- 58:03years ago, like maybe the early 2000s, something like that.
- 58:06And the woman that was on there, she would get real angry and her
- 58:09eyes would pop like out, you know, like she was real angry.
- 58:13And that's what I remember from that, that whole reality series.
- 58:17I grew up with MTV, so mine were like Brett Michaels and and like
- 58:23flavor. Yeah.
- 58:26Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 58:28It's a look at the the love. So we didn't watch that stuff
- 58:32growing up. But now that I'm, you know, a
- 58:34woman in my own house, I'm like, give me all of it.
- 58:37I know what. Was the reality show with Flavor
- 58:40Flav the one where he was with Brigitte?
- 58:43Is it Brigitte Nielsen? Was that her name she was on?
- 58:47Yeah. And he was having a relationship
- 58:49with her during the show. And he loved her so much,
- 58:51remember, because she's the actress.
- 58:52She was with Sylvester Stallone at one time.
- 58:56And then when she was like 50, something like that, she had a
- 59:00baby. Oh, my gosh.
- 59:02And it was amazing. I'm like. 50 I don't know.
- 59:06She was there and she married some guy that was much younger
- 59:09than her then or he was a lot younger than her and they had
- 59:13they had a baby together. But I think she had like grown
- 59:17with grown children and then she had a baby like when she was 50
- 59:21or she was in her 50s, I think. And I was quite impressed.
- 59:24But yes, she during the reality show, her Flavor Flav, he loved
- 59:28her. And they had some romance, but I
- 59:31don't remember what that was. But I think that was on MTV.
- 59:35Yeah. But probably that might have
- 59:37been during your college years, Heather, paying attention to
- 59:40other things. No, it's out at the bars.
- 59:43That's probably where you were. See, see, I have 10 years on
- 59:46you, so we'll see. I was, I was home.
- 59:51And then let's see, what year were you in college, Heather?
- 59:5522,009 to like 2012. OK, see I was having my first
- 1:00:02baby at that point. So I was I was crazy because my
- 1:00:05son was born in 2010. I got divorced in 22,009 and
- 1:00:09then I got then I had a baby in 2010 and then got married again
- 1:00:13in 2011. Had another baby in 2013 and
- 1:00:17another in 2015. And it doesn't feel that long
- 1:00:20ago. It does not.
- 1:00:21And until you really start thinking about like, how you ask
- 1:00:25it. Yeah.
- 1:00:26Or what was popular back then, Right.
- 1:00:29Or we didn't have cell phones with, like, data back then.
- 1:00:32Right. Or photos and texting.
- 1:00:36Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:37My husband and I were just realizing that we.
- 1:00:39We haven't been married this long, but we've been together.
- 1:00:41It'll be 16 years in October. And I was like, our relationship
- 1:00:46can drive a car. I'm like, wait, didn't we just
- 1:00:49meet? What's?
- 1:00:49Happening yeah. My husband and I, we will be
- 1:00:52together 17 years this July and then our our oldest son, he'll
- 1:00:57be 16 in September and I'm like. Child is a cat.
- 1:01:02So nice. I don't know if that count.
- 1:01:06Yes, they're so demanding. They are.
- 1:01:09Well, it is demanding as the sleeping puppy I've got in front
- 1:01:13of me who's really a nightmare. But yeah, right now is very
- 1:01:16cheap. We don't have any animals
- 1:01:18because I, I grew up with dogs like I, I know what puppies are
- 1:01:22like and I was like, I have feral toddlers right now.
- 1:01:26I cannot do a puppy. I again, I don't have any kids.
- 1:01:30But when we got Caspian, he was six weeks old and I was talking
- 1:01:35to my friends who are moms and I was mentioning I was like, oh,
- 1:01:39you know, it's, it's not the same.
- 1:01:40I'm just having to like, wake up every two hours to go outside to
- 1:01:43try and potty train him. And I have to like.
- 1:01:45And they're like, no, it's like, you have a kid.
- 1:01:48Yeah, I think. I mean, but I could put him in a
- 1:01:50kennel, so. Right.
- 1:01:52Like you can leave him for a little while at least and go to
- 1:01:56the store and whatnot. But some have like some bad
- 1:02:00anxieties where you can't do that or like if you go on
- 1:02:03vacation or something that you saw to have someone come like
- 1:02:06play with them, walk them, feed them.
- 1:02:09So it's similar. It's similar, just different.
- 1:02:12Hard right? And she is a very cuz again,
- 1:02:15I've had him say I got him right as I like quit my job and
- 1:02:19decided to like become an author full time.
- 1:02:22So he's basically been around me his entire life.
- 1:02:26And this dog is attached to my head again.
- 1:02:29I was out of town at a book convention.
- 1:02:31I just got back this morning and he lost his mind when he saw me
- 1:02:36and was just like jumping all over me.
- 1:02:39That's. That's the one that you had in
- 1:02:40your video, isn't it? At the other day?
- 1:02:43And oh, he's so cute. You have to see him and he's so
- 1:02:46pretty and he's a big boy and he doesn't know how.
- 1:02:49He doesn't know his size. This is.
- 1:02:51Not there we go. Look.
- 1:02:53At him. And he thinks he's just a little
- 1:02:57baby too. He doesn't know how big he is.
- 1:03:00Yeah, when I got him and when he was a puppy, I'm normally like
- 1:03:03when I sit on my pouch, he would sit behind my back and just like
- 1:03:07rest his head right here. And he was also this big.
- 1:03:10Now he's 65 lbs and it's still like, I can just creep right
- 1:03:15back here, right? He like crowds into my space and
- 1:03:18I'm like, oh, oh, OK, buddy. We had labs at that.
- 1:03:22They thought they were the small dog.
- 1:03:24We had a Maltese and labs. And, you know, I mean, they're,
- 1:03:29they're cute, they're sweet. They're just very hyper, yes.
- 1:03:32So they'd like run in the house when they got inside and they're
- 1:03:34like, Oh my God, I'm inside, I'm inside, I'm sorry, you know,
- 1:03:37like just lay down and then they try to like lay right on top of
- 1:03:41you and think they're this small little thing.
- 1:03:43It's see, we don't. We don't have any any pets.
- 1:03:47I've had pets in the past, but we have in our neighborhood
- 1:03:50there is a lot of like little stray cats that are around and
- 1:03:55we have several because they're like gangs.
- 1:03:58They have, they have their territories.
- 1:04:01And we have, we have a little black and white cat.
- 1:04:05We have a fluffy Gray cat. And this other one, she's got
- 1:04:09the little, the little short legs, you know what I'm talking
- 1:04:11about. And she's real fluffy and, and
- 1:04:13she lives under our shed and, and she was scared of
- 1:04:18everything. Now mind you, we call them
- 1:04:20certain names and I know as they travel, they have other names
- 1:04:24that they go by from other people.
- 1:04:27We call her Marshmallow because she was so panic because when we
- 1:04:31first would go outside and she was on our deck, she'd be like,
- 1:04:34Oh my God, stranger danger. And she would run so fast with
- 1:04:37those little tiny legs. She just imagined it was
- 1:04:39hilarious. And and then we have the fluffy
- 1:04:42one. He's he's very laid back, but
- 1:04:45and he'll fight with the little black and white one and like
- 1:04:48she'll be getting real sassy with him and he'll take his paw
- 1:04:50and put it on her head. He's like, you have to stop and
- 1:04:54and then they will fight any other cat that wants to come up
- 1:04:58on our porch into our area again, I told you they're like
- 1:05:02gangs and then we'll like drive like out our neighborhood and
- 1:05:05we'll see other cats that we never see here because they're
- 1:05:09at. They're in their territories.
- 1:05:12And we have a black one that's coming around now, and he looks
- 1:05:15like a Panther. And we've named him Bob.
- 1:05:18The reason renamed him Bob is because our neighbor that used
- 1:05:22to live across the street from us, He was an interesting
- 1:05:25individual. He is no longer here and and he
- 1:05:28is no longer with us on this earth either.
- 1:05:30He was an older guy, but he used to say he would run our street,
- 1:05:33he would run 4th St. So that's the cat.
- 1:05:36His name's Bob. And I asked him, I'm like, Bob,
- 1:05:38are you running 4th St. And he just looks at me.
- 1:05:40He's like stranger nature. You're talking to me.
- 1:05:43But that was my. We have a little ginger Kitty
- 1:05:46that our driveway is shared with our neighbors and so this little
- 1:05:49ginger Kitty goes between our houses and he's completely
- 1:05:52feral. Both of us, us and our neighbor
- 1:05:54have tried to adopt him. He refuses to be adopted, but
- 1:05:58he's got a dash going down one eye and he's a little ginger cat
- 1:06:02so I need to looch in orderly for sort.
- 1:06:05That's cute. Oh, these ones here, they know
- 1:06:08like when I like my husband will come home from work, they'll
- 1:06:11say, Oh, there's that, there's that person.
- 1:06:13And he's like, are you all waiting for her?
- 1:06:15Are you waiting for her to come outside?
- 1:06:17Me Because they know, because I, I, I, I'll feed them.
- 1:06:20I'll give them like some, I give them their little NUM nums or
- 1:06:22I'll give them little treats And it, he talks to them and they're
- 1:06:26like, yes, we're waiting for her, but she hasn't appeared
- 1:06:29yet. That's what.
- 1:06:30And it's every morning, and when he comes home from work, they're
- 1:06:33like, yes, we're here. They're waiting for the lady
- 1:06:35five other houses getting dinner from.
- 1:06:39The the lady that lives diagonal behind us, we call her the cat
- 1:06:43lady because she has like all kinds of them there.
- 1:06:46And then she gets upset that two of these cats that are the
- 1:06:49fluffy Gray one and the little black and white one, they come
- 1:06:52to our porch and she gets mad and she slams her door.
- 1:06:56It's the cat lady. So so we call her the cat.
- 1:07:01Oh, she's, she's different as she marches to her own drum
- 1:07:04beat. But that's our we have
- 1:07:05interesting neighbors, but those are our cats.
- 1:07:08So we we have adopted them. They might live outside, but but
- 1:07:12they are we've claimed them. But your baby is so cute.
- 1:07:16I loved him when you did your video the other day.
- 1:07:18My gosh, he is this little baby Angel in the world.
- 1:07:22Even when I was like on this week and I was texting my
- 1:07:24husband and so codependent with both of them, I was like oh send
- 1:07:28me pictures I want to see your face.
- 1:07:31Then the dog, like even without asking, he'd like send me a
- 1:07:35picture of him and then he'd just send a picture of the dog.
- 1:07:38He's like, I know you're also curious about asking.
- 1:07:40Damn. Yeah, it's been 2 days.
- 1:07:43Now you said you went to to book con, were you?
- 1:07:46No, no, I went to a book convention.
- 1:07:48I did not read that book one. Yeah.
- 1:07:50Oh. OK, because I was going to say
- 1:07:51because people are I've been seeing all kinds of interesting
- 1:07:56reviews of Book Con. Like I know the authors, they
- 1:07:59said had a wonderful. Experience.
- 1:08:02Yeah, I, I'm friends with an author who went and she said she
- 1:08:05had a she had a weird interaction the first day, but
- 1:08:08everything was cool beyond that and she had a really good time.
- 1:08:12I think she ended up selling out.
- 1:08:14I know a ton of people. Wow sold out.
- 1:08:15So I was like, great for them, yeah.
- 1:08:17I know I saw Maggie Censeri. I saw her, she said she sold out
- 1:08:22the first day and she was very surprised by that.
- 1:08:26That's that's neat. But they said it was a lot of
- 1:08:27weird stuff and then like there was like really long lines and
- 1:08:32stuff. It's like, did they sell too
- 1:08:33many tickets for the event kind of thing?
- 1:08:37From what I was hearing, or I don't know, I wasn't there no
- 1:08:42part in this, But from what I can kind of ascertain from what
- 1:08:45I've seen, it just seemed like it was too small of them thin.
- 1:08:49They should have done it at a bigger venue to have more space
- 1:08:52to accommodate the lines. Yeah.
- 1:08:54And then obviously there were all the issues with like the
- 1:08:57signing times for the bigger name authors and stuff like
- 1:09:00that. But I mean, there's always going
- 1:09:02to be drama at every book on Avanti.
- 1:09:04There's some kind of drama. There's some kind of issue.
- 1:09:07Except for the one that I just did this weekend, which was
- 1:09:09great. And I sold out in like 30
- 1:09:11minutes and I was supposed to be there for two hours.
- 1:09:13Oh, shoot. Yeah, that's amazing.
- 1:09:15So what do they do? When that happens, do you do
- 1:09:18like QR codes kind of book sales?
- 1:09:20I should have, I should have, I'm not dropping my card that
- 1:09:24had my QR code for my social media.
- 1:09:26And so I was like, we can go on here.
- 1:09:29But I had like candles as well. And so I kind of stayed to sell
- 1:09:33some candles, but it was, I was very, very shocked because I had
- 1:09:38a line of people who came specifically to meet me, which
- 1:09:41was very strange. And I was like, wait, what?
- 1:09:43Like one girl came up and pulled my books out of her bag.
- 1:09:47And for a moment I was like, where'd you get those?
- 1:09:49And she was like, oh, I already bought these.
- 1:09:51I just didn't think I'd ever get a chance to meet you.
- 1:09:53I just want you to sign them. Nice.
- 1:09:55And I had one girl who said her sister's in Canada, and she was
- 1:09:59like, she knows she's never going to get to meet you.
- 1:10:01And so she demanded that I come here.
- 1:10:03And that girl ended up buying like, 2 poppies of everything
- 1:10:06that I had. And I was like, I'm.
- 1:10:07I did not bring enough stock. This is insane.
- 1:10:10That's awesome. Amazing.
- 1:10:13Yeah. It's a fun experience.
- 1:10:14And it was like a little local or, well, local to my sisters
- 1:10:19because I'm in Tennessee. My sister lives in Alabama.
- 1:10:23And it was a mobile bookstore, Flushing Books, it's what it's
- 1:10:28called. And they're about to have a
- 1:10:29brick and mortar location. This was their first year
- 1:10:32putting on this event. I'm like you.
- 1:10:34I would have thought you guys have been doing this for a
- 1:10:36decade. Like, it went so smoothly.
- 1:10:39It was so professionally handled.
- 1:10:41It was incredibly well patroned. I did not.
- 1:10:44They were like, we should have gotten a bigger venue.
- 1:10:46We didn't know how, like, how much the book community was
- 1:10:49going to show up. Yeah, I've noticed more and more
- 1:10:53the book community is growing for sure.
- 1:10:56And like I think the other day with Independent Bookstore Day,
- 1:10:59they were saying like there are more like 400 something more
- 1:11:05independent bookstores this year that have open compared to like
- 1:11:09past years or something. And so like, yeah, the
- 1:11:12independent bookstore is now over.
- 1:11:15The conglomerate ones, you know, like barns and stuff are it's
- 1:11:19growing. So we're getting a lot more.
- 1:11:22They want to shop local. They want or at least like
- 1:11:25that's that's how my community is where I am.
- 1:11:28Like my town that I live in, we really any kind of local store
- 1:11:32that opens instantly does well because we love to support local
- 1:11:37as much as possible. Yes, yes.
- 1:11:39And you want that like closeness in that community and the like.
- 1:11:44Hey Barb, I'm back like. Well, it's that warm.
- 1:11:49Yeah, yeah. And you get more curated feel to
- 1:11:52it. So instead of just it's like
- 1:11:53someone, you know, at Target behind a cast or just they're
- 1:11:56checking you out at somebody who's like, well, what do you
- 1:11:58like? What are the types that you
- 1:12:00like? What the genre you want?
- 1:12:02Did you see this book? Oh, if you like that one, you
- 1:12:05need to go grab that one over there.
- 1:12:06It's people who are excited about it and want to be excited
- 1:12:09with their book. People too.
- 1:12:11Yeah. And not just their for the
- 1:12:13paycheck in a second. Because you, you don't get that
- 1:12:16when you go to Barnes and Noble, of course, you, you don't get
- 1:12:18that, of course, with Amazon or you know, any of those kind of
- 1:12:21things. You, you don't get that warmth.
- 1:12:23And I think that's why the independent indie bookstores are
- 1:12:29so important. And plus they tend to have more
- 1:12:33of your indie authors than those other places.
- 1:12:37And like, like Heather was saying, they know the book and
- 1:12:40they recommend it more. It's more of a personalized
- 1:12:43experience Here in Oval we have and it's a a novel romance, I
- 1:12:49believe. I haven't gone to it yet, but
- 1:12:51everybody I've talked to that has said it's an absolutely
- 1:12:54amazing independent bookstore. And then there's Carmichael's
- 1:12:59and they said that one's wonderful too.
- 1:13:00That's on Bardstown Rd. I told my husband I want to go
- 1:13:03on a little adventure and, and, and go, he will not go in with
- 1:13:08me. He will not.
- 1:13:08He will go do other things and whatever, but people take me and
- 1:13:12I will be the passenger Princess.
- 1:13:14I'm very. Glad to my joy.
- 1:13:16That my husband reads Romanticy so fun, which it's funny cuz I
- 1:13:20had just I was reading Iron Plane and I got in his car and
- 1:13:24he's a wine salesman so he goes around to different stores and
- 1:13:27sells wine. So he has a lot of accounts and
- 1:13:29a lot of customers that he talks to.
- 1:13:31Then I got into his car and I saw a fourth wing on the
- 1:13:33floorboard and I was like, did you buy this for me?
- 1:13:36I was like, I've already read this one, like I already own it.
- 1:13:39I'm on the second one. He was like, no, one of my
- 1:13:41coworkers gave that to me, like one of my customers.
- 1:13:43And I was like, why? She said she thought I would
- 1:13:47like it because she knows I like Game of Thrones and stuff like
- 1:13:49that. And I was just like holding it,
- 1:13:50looking at him, looking at him in the book.
- 1:13:53And I was like, do you, do you know what this is?
- 1:13:57It felt very much like a like I discovered my kid situation,
- 1:14:01like who gave this to you? But he ended up reading it and
- 1:14:05loving it. And so then I convinced him to
- 1:14:07read Akotar as well. And he's promised me at some
- 1:14:10point he'll read Crescent City. But he's like, let me let me
- 1:14:14read some non romance. Yeah, before I do that.
- 1:14:17Yeah, that's awesome. I'm trying to get my husband
- 1:14:19into romanticy or just like any kind of fantasy because he liked
- 1:14:23Game of Thrones when he watched the show.
- 1:14:26Didn't read it. Well, I mean, if we're ever
- 1:14:29going to get it finished, which I don't think we will, but
- 1:14:32whatever. I think the guy, I think my
- 1:14:35husband and I were talking about this with somebody and he pretty
- 1:14:39much like has let the fandom just like create their own like
- 1:14:44fanfic of it in a sense. And he's not going to.
- 1:14:48I think he has come out and said like, I'm not going to finish
- 1:14:50this. I know.
- 1:14:55I, I think what happened is he soft launched what he wanted the
- 1:15:01end of the story to be with the TV show because it had diverged
- 1:15:05once essentially they ran out of source material, it had diverged
- 1:15:08from that plot and they started adding things in.
- 1:15:10But I think ending is how he intended it to end.
- 1:15:14And it was so widely, like, dislike that he was kind of just
- 1:15:19like, well, I don't maybe that was the ending.
- 1:15:22What's the point in writing it now when everyone hated it?
- 1:15:26Yeah, yeah. Why waste your time?
- 1:15:30Yeah. See.
- 1:15:31I can't get my husband to he. He likes video games, that's his
- 1:15:36thing. I cannot get hit.
- 1:15:39Well, I tell him about my books, but he half listens to me while
- 1:15:43he's playing it. But I was telling Heather my
- 1:15:46most excited thing because we just got Netflix.
- 1:15:48We've never had Netflix. We've had Hulu, we have all
- 1:15:50kinds of other ones, but we never had Netflix.
- 1:15:53I got him to watch Richardson with me.
- 1:15:56My sister, she, she got her husband to watch it.
- 1:15:59Not like she didn't try to. She would just be watching it
- 1:16:02and he'd be in the background, like doing dishes or like
- 1:16:04cooking or something will be picked up until, wait, what's
- 1:16:07going on with Penelope? And so she was eventually like,
- 1:16:10do you just want to watch this with me?
- 1:16:12Yeah. So they watch that together.
- 1:16:14We we start, we'll see. He was playing.
- 1:16:16He has one of those handheld gaming systems he has.
- 1:16:19It's an Asus ROG LIX thing. It's basically a computer and he
- 1:16:23was playing. Is it like a theme deck I'm
- 1:16:25assuming? It's like a Steam Deck.
- 1:16:27But yeah, I think it was like it was like 908 hundred or $900.
- 1:16:31Yeah, I don't know. It isn't my thing.
- 1:16:33But he always tells gaming it's a computer.
- 1:16:35I like to game. I do too, but that's he's more
- 1:16:39into emulation and all kinds of stuff like that.
- 1:16:41But he was playing it and I had it on and I was watching it and
- 1:16:45I was watching it and he likes to commentate on any of my shows
- 1:16:49that I'm watching cuz he makes fun of them.
- 1:16:51And he kept making fun of this. And then he started, then he got
- 1:16:55quieter and then I started noticing he was paying attention
- 1:16:58to it. And then I wanted to watch it
- 1:17:02last night cuz today, because today's Monday for us while
- 1:17:06we're recording, this is our Friday, Monday is our Friday, if
- 1:17:09that makes sense. And so he said to me last night,
- 1:17:12he goes, oh dude, he's like, don't watch that.
- 1:17:14He's like, we'll watch it tomorrow night.
- 1:17:16He's like, I'm too tired tonight to watch.
- 1:17:18I said, oh, I said, you want to watch Bridgeton with me?
- 1:17:20And he's like, yes. So that was an exciting moment
- 1:17:23for me because I, he, he watches my little shows.
- 1:17:26I like to watch like Elsbeth, he makes fun of that.
- 1:17:30He makes fun of my Matlock, the new one.
- 1:17:33And then I watch High Potential, That's another one.
- 1:17:36I love them. They're just, I just, I like
- 1:17:39their little stories. It's just my thing.
- 1:17:41And he makes fun of them the whole entire time.
- 1:17:43And he likes to point out the plot holes of the episode while
- 1:17:47like be quiet and just play your game weird is what he does here
- 1:17:52for. Vibes.
- 1:17:53We're here to enjoy it. Don't clean out hot holes.
- 1:17:57And then he made he liked to point out that the sky wasn't
- 1:18:00moving in their window. With the clouds and stuff.
- 1:18:03I'm like I could leave it alone happiness and this is what he
- 1:18:09was doing to me that that's but that was my exciting thing
- 1:18:11though, because I told Chelsea that our little Chelsea.
- 1:18:15I told her I said he's he's watching Richard 10 now because
- 1:18:18her and I talk about our husbands as well with that.
- 1:18:21But so now what is your you said you have another series coming
- 1:18:25out in October now. Have you announced anything
- 1:18:29about it or can you have a? Tidbit I can say I haven't
- 1:18:34announced the title yet so I won't say that, but it is coming
- 1:18:38out October 9th. I want to say I should know that
- 1:18:41date and it is going to be a dark fantasy romance trilogy.
- 1:18:46It's got faith, vampires, true enemies to lovers, like in a
- 1:18:52pack to kill each other kind of enemies to lovers and deadly
- 1:18:57trials as well. OK, Is the whole thing done like
- 1:19:01a trials or are you going to like start or have some trials?
- 1:19:06Book 1 is deadly trials. OK Book 2 is a whole other
- 1:19:11roller coaster. Yeah.
- 1:19:14Cool, that's exciting. I just actually, this weekend, I
- 1:19:17was finishing the first round of edit and going over all the
- 1:19:20notes that my editor sent me. And there was one point in it
- 1:19:24when I had done something and she was like, I had to close my
- 1:19:28laptop and just stare at a wall for an hour before she came back
- 1:19:33to it. Oh, no, I'm sorry.
- 1:19:35Oh, no. Well, that's it.
- 1:19:37That's a I'm getting excited. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:19:40And there was one piece that I wrote and I had rewritten and
- 1:19:43rewritten and rewritten, and I kept sending it to my beta
- 1:19:47readers because I was like, I just feel like it can be worse.
- 1:19:51I feel like I can torture these characters more.
- 1:19:53And they got to a point where they're like, stop, It's too
- 1:19:55bad. Like, you're good, Don't need to
- 1:19:57make it anymore. So I was like, OK, cool.
- 1:19:59And that exact scene matter was like, I think you could make
- 1:20:03this a little worse. I was like, all right, let's do
- 1:20:06it. Really torture the characters.
- 1:20:09That's awesome. Interesting.
- 1:20:11Oh, I'm excited for that then. When do you think you'll be
- 1:20:15revealing the title to that? That will be soon just because
- 1:20:20my third book just came out. I'm still in the like
- 1:20:23promotional phase for that one, but my PA and I are already
- 1:20:27working on like starting to get stuff going for that because I'm
- 1:20:32going to do a big push with this one.
- 1:20:33I'm doing audio book with it as well.
- 1:20:35I just asked both of the cuz it's two Povs so you get the FMC
- 1:20:41and the MMC. So I just cast the narrators for
- 1:20:44that and I'm so excited. Their voices are incredible.
- 1:20:49And I'm also doing like a special edition with it.
- 1:20:52So like hard covered, frayed edges, which I haven't done hard
- 1:20:55covered before. So for free order, is that going
- 1:20:59to be pre-order? The special edition?
- 1:21:00I, I'm in the process of finding, actually Speaking of
- 1:21:04indie bookstores, I'm in the process of like narrowing down
- 1:21:07the bookstore that I want to work with to do a pre-order
- 1:21:09campaign. Good.
- 1:21:10Yeah. And I have so much character art
- 1:21:14I'm sitting on right now, including a ton that I've done
- 1:21:17myself. Nice.
- 1:21:19She does. She does draw.
- 1:21:20That was something else I was going to ask you.
- 1:21:22So yeah, that is one of the neat things is when the author is the
- 1:21:28artist as well, because then we truly see what you see in your
- 1:21:31mind when you are creating these characters, and I think that is
- 1:21:35one of the coolest things. That's one of my favorite
- 1:21:36things, yeah. I mean, I'm say no means good.
- 1:21:41I just enjoy doing it. It's like I don't consider
- 1:21:43myself an artist. I'm like, for me, it's just it's
- 1:21:47just a hobby at this point. But so I like, I will always
- 1:21:51still Commission actual artists to do like professional ones for
- 1:21:55me. But then I have like my little
- 1:21:56ones that I do. I'm like, it's fine if it's
- 1:21:59imperfect. If there are a bunch of mistakes
- 1:22:02in it, I don't care because I didn't pay for it.
- 1:22:04I didn't so. And it's fun.
- 1:22:07Yeah, yeah. Now the other thing we want to
- 1:22:11talk about too, because May is mental health Month.
- 1:22:14Yeah. And because you said that now I
- 1:22:17have not read Magpie and Heather has there, but you said that
- 1:22:21there is a lot of different topics that we could talk about
- 1:22:25for mental health with that I'm. So sorry, my dog is rolling over
- 1:22:29and trying the little table I have on my laptop.
- 1:22:33He's like, he's like, I'm ready. He's like.
- 1:22:37He's something this big. Yeah, he's a baby.
- 1:22:41But yeah, no, Magpie deals with a lot of mental health
- 1:22:45representation. The way that I like to describe
- 1:22:47it is just told me the lens of magic.
- 1:22:49So like the biggest theme in Magpie are things of basically
- 1:22:54a, it's an allegory for a character struggling with
- 1:22:56depressive. And it's it's my journey of
- 1:23:01struggling with depression, the way that I felt, the way that I
- 1:23:07struggled with like suicidal ideation and self harm.
- 1:23:10It's that story and my relationship with depression,
- 1:23:15with anxiety just told through the lens of magic.
- 1:23:19So instead of it being my depression, it's the villain.
- 1:23:22And that's yeah, get to see it as a character.
- 1:23:27I loved it because it's relatable in a story form, which
- 1:23:32I love. So like in the beginning, like a
- 1:23:35lot of my tabbies, I'm like, a lot of them are, are kind of
- 1:23:39geared towards like those emotions or like a saying or
- 1:23:45kind of like coming to the light in a sense, or like feeling that
- 1:23:49such that depression where you feel so numb that nothing
- 1:23:55matters anymore. You are down in the dumps.
- 1:23:58Like want something else but don't know how to do it.
- 1:24:04And then just like giving up. Yeah.
- 1:24:06And, and because for me, he goes through that.
- 1:24:09Yeah. It for me, like my depression,
- 1:24:12it was very comforting. It was very comforting.
- 1:24:15And it felt like a safe space, which is what I was trying to do
- 1:24:18with that character. And with the idea of the house,
- 1:24:21with the idea of the building is the fact that to her, it's it's
- 1:24:26a comfort. It's almost an addiction.
- 1:24:28She does. She can't let go cozy in it and
- 1:24:32builds relationships there and thinks that it's this is the way
- 1:24:36it's going to be. This is my life now.
- 1:24:39Yeah. And she's like in the haunted
- 1:24:41house and dealing with all the creeps and creatures and
- 1:24:46darkness. So, yeah, I've had so many
- 1:24:50readers. That's the book that like I've
- 1:24:52gotten the most interaction on because the primary thing is I
- 1:24:56will just have people who reach out to me and my DN and say,
- 1:25:00like, this book made me feel see, yeah.
- 1:25:03And then they will tell me their own story and their own
- 1:25:06struggle, which it which is also just been such a cool
- 1:25:10experience, like having somebody trust me so much to like dig
- 1:25:15into that wound and let me know like what they went through.
- 1:25:19I'm like, that's just, it's an experience I thought I'd never
- 1:25:21get. And it's one I didn't think I'd
- 1:25:23get from just being like a fantasy author.
- 1:25:26Like I didn't realize it. Like my words could affect
- 1:25:29people this way. Like I've had people who have,
- 1:25:32I've reached out and then like I felt myself slipping back into
- 1:25:35the fashion. So I started reading this book
- 1:25:37again. So I remember to like, try and
- 1:25:39fight. Yeah.
- 1:25:41Yeah. It's a great story of like being
- 1:25:44there, being down, dealing with it as like a like, this is where
- 1:25:49I'm at and nothing more to it. And then finding those little
- 1:25:55like hold, you know, like you're climbing and you're finding
- 1:25:58those little finger hold place hold mints and stuff.
- 1:26:01And you're slowly getting there and you're like, come on,
- 1:26:04Maggie, keep fighting Maggie. And it's, it's well done.
- 1:26:09I really loved it. And it is very relatable to my
- 1:26:12own depression and where I was at not long ago.
- 1:26:16And yeah, so. And have you have you finished
- 1:26:19it? I did, yeah.
- 1:26:21OK. All I wanted to say is there
- 1:26:23without being like, again, this won't spoil anything, but the
- 1:26:26scene when 2 characters are driving in a car together
- 1:26:30towards the house, that conversation was me talking to
- 1:26:36my past self. Yeah.
- 1:26:38Like that was just I'm like if and someone could have said this
- 1:26:42to me, if I could say this to someone like this is what I
- 1:26:44would have wanted here. Yes, so that was me just talking
- 1:26:47to pass Parker. Yes and how they like sit there
- 1:26:50for a while with each other and they don't say much.
- 1:26:54They're just kind of like together in their piece, in
- 1:26:58their heads, whatever they're doing.
- 1:27:00And then it just kind of like slowly creates a conversation.
- 1:27:05And I'm like, yes, that is how it is.
- 1:27:07Like you just have to kind of like, want to eventually come
- 1:27:11out of your shell to say something.
- 1:27:16Yeah. And you actually have to like,
- 1:27:17name it and face it. Yeah.
- 1:27:20To actually be able to like, move on from it.
- 1:27:22Right. Yes.
- 1:27:24And that character, tricky little character.
- 1:27:27I I knew I was like, she's something else.
- 1:27:32And this is, it has makes no difference to the story at all.
- 1:27:35It's just a little Easter egg that I put in there because I
- 1:27:37thought it would be hilarious for this specific character to
- 1:27:40have that. But how I was referencing her
- 1:27:42wearing friendship bracelets. He's a swifty.
- 1:27:45Oh yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:27:47I just thought I was like, wouldn't it be funny for this,
- 1:27:49of all characters to be really into Taylor Swift?
- 1:27:52Oh, yeah. But her character, like I like
- 1:27:56how she's kind of like the opposite of her.
- 1:27:58What you would think her character was that I love too,
- 1:28:01because I was like, Oh yeah, I knew it.
- 1:28:04Again, I'm like everything that you shouldn't.
- 1:28:07Don't expect anything when you read my books.
- 1:28:09Don't try and expect anything because I'm very much going to
- 1:28:12give you the opposite of it. Yeah, that's great.
- 1:28:14See. That's that's I love that
- 1:28:17because some books you read are an author, how they write, you
- 1:28:21know where they're going to go and you, you kind of know once
- 1:28:25you start it well where this is going to go.
- 1:28:27I think that makes it special when you don't know where the
- 1:28:29story is going to go. And it it's that surprise, that
- 1:28:33suspense, that element in it. And I like that too.
- 1:28:35Yeah, and it keeps you going. You're like, Oh my gosh, whoa,
- 1:28:39let's keep going. Chapter.
- 1:28:42Excitement 3:00 AM. Here we go.
- 1:28:45One of my lifelong best friends is an actress, so a large part
- 1:28:50of her job is reading scripts and critiquing them.
- 1:28:53So she I also always send her my stuff as I'm writing it.
- 1:28:57And she has been able to guess every single twist I've ever
- 1:29:01written except for the end of the third book that I just
- 1:29:06released. In the faith and Flying Theory,
- 1:29:08Your path is vengeance. She was like, I didn't see any
- 1:29:12of that book coming. I was like, finally, finally
- 1:29:15tricked you with something. That's awesome.
- 1:29:18That is pretty neat. Let's see how now.
- 1:29:24OK, now this is our Scream or Dream haunted House edition.
- 1:29:29So now Scream is bad, dream means good.
- 1:29:35Why did I automatically think the option?
- 1:29:37What does it say about me? What what we had our our sweet
- 1:29:40little Ravenna veil on. We had to explain that to her
- 1:29:45because she didn't know which was.
- 1:29:46It too a lot of these. I'm always like Rebecca wait,
- 1:29:49like I think more into and I always am in the middle, like
- 1:29:53Gray in the middle. I'm like but what if?
- 1:29:56And how about like twisted so screams bad dream is good?
- 1:30:02Dream is good now, OK? Would you stay in a House of
- 1:30:05shadows if it meant your passions were returned to you,
- 1:30:10but you could never leave? 100% I never want to leave my
- 1:30:15house to begin with, so that is the dream.
- 1:30:19Do you think the older we get the more we like to be in our
- 1:30:23own like nest kind of thing? I think maybe that might be true
- 1:30:28for other people. It has always been true.
- 1:30:30I have my entire life been a painfully, painfully shy,
- 1:30:35introverted person. Like I always say to my husband,
- 1:30:38I'm like, you got to be pretty great to beat my house because
- 1:30:41my house is awesome and I never want to be away from it.
- 1:30:45That's cool. That's like the House of Wind
- 1:30:47when I think of this, Like, yeah, like, why would you go
- 1:30:49anywhere? Just live there, right and don't
- 1:30:52complain about it. I like it.
- 1:30:54Line on the band. I for the life of me I'll never
- 1:30:58understand why Nesta felt so much that she needed to go down
- 1:31:02those 10,000 steps. I would have been so content in
- 1:31:05that house that talked to me, gave me whatever I wanted, made
- 1:31:10little tiny baby Pegasus that could just come and visit me,
- 1:31:14bring me chocolate cake, desserts, books.
- 1:31:17I would be perfectly fine and I would never leave.
- 1:31:21I will say because I have a lot of people very near and dear to
- 1:31:24my life that are in active recovery right now.
- 1:31:28And so that book hit a little bit differently from just
- 1:31:31because I was like, this is very much someone who's an addict
- 1:31:35trying to do whatever they can to continue to get that fixed,
- 1:31:39continue to get that fit and continue to run away from
- 1:31:43recovery. So I, I can unfortunately
- 1:31:47understand her mindset and that just because of the road that
- 1:31:52I've had to walk with some loved ones.
- 1:31:55Yeah. And her, like, need to like, get
- 1:31:57the drink and do what she wants to do and kind of not see what
- 1:32:02was in front of her. Like, what more there is than
- 1:32:05just like, her despair and her. Yeah.
- 1:32:08Which Nessa? Nessa is my favorite out of
- 1:32:11that? Like Nessa is my favorite out of
- 1:32:13that series. And, you know, ever be a
- 1:32:15casting. We were talking about series and
- 1:32:17like how they switched the point of view.
- 1:32:19I was so mad during Silver Plane cuz I was like, no, I want
- 1:32:23Farrah and Busan. Yeah.
- 1:32:25And then all of a sudden it switched and I was like, let's
- 1:32:29see, Like I might as well read it.
- 1:32:31Everyone's talking about it. And then I was like, that's my
- 1:32:33favorite book so far. Hands down my favorite.
- 1:32:36Yeah from the entire. But I was upset at first.
- 1:32:40But now they're my favorite characters.
- 1:32:41Well, let me ask you, since you've read Acutar the same as
- 1:32:44us, what do you think? What do you think's gonna happen
- 1:32:48in book 6? What is your?
- 1:32:52I honestly I don't necessarily have any predictions.
- 1:32:56I like to because I am a This is going to sound like it doesn't
- 1:33:01make sense but I promise it does.
- 1:33:02I'm a huge horror. I love horror, absolutely.
- 1:33:05I consume it there. You would be hard pressed to
- 1:33:08find a horror movie I have not watched because of that.
- 1:33:14I'm really, I've gotten really good at guessing the plots for
- 1:33:18horror movies and it spoils it for me.
- 1:33:20It doesn't make it as scaring, it doesn't make it as intense.
- 1:33:22And so I've gotten really good at just completely shutting my
- 1:33:25brain off and experiencing it. And that's what I try to do with
- 1:33:29books as well because I'm like, if I think too hard about it,
- 1:33:31I'm going to figure it out and it won't.
- 1:33:32It's not going to hit as much. I want it to hit.
- 1:33:35I want to be surprised. I want to have those aha
- 1:33:37moments. So I think it'll revolve around
- 1:33:41a lane. I think it'll revolve around
- 1:33:43Azrael. Beyond that, I'm not guessing.
- 1:33:47I know the Queens probably have got something to do with it
- 1:33:50because I feel like they're running around doing stuff, but.
- 1:33:53We have our our Ecotar miniseries that we do and we
- 1:33:58deep dive into all the theories out on the interwebs because
- 1:34:05with me, there are so many. Overwhelming.
- 1:34:10Chelsea want, Chelsea wants to redeem Tamlin, but I think Sarah
- 1:34:15kind of showed us that maybe she's not going to give him a
- 1:34:17redemption arc. Yeah, but but I'm perfectly
- 1:34:22fine. But Chelsea, she's she truly
- 1:34:25wanted Tamlin to have that. But there are so many things.
- 1:34:29Big Tamlin apologists, yeah. Well, I just, I mean, I have
- 1:34:35thoughts. Do I think the book's going to
- 1:34:36be about Elaine? I think Elaine's going to be
- 1:34:38part of the story. I don't think she's going to be
- 1:34:41the entire story. I think there's a lot we don't
- 1:34:44know about because Elaine has gone through a lot and she
- 1:34:48hasn't said much. Elaine, now Nesta is a different
- 1:34:53kind of story. We know she went through a whole
- 1:34:54lot. We saw it because she was more
- 1:34:57open with every a lot more things.
- 1:35:00She showed her up. You know that she was angry.
- 1:35:03Elaine not showing any signs of truly of anger and stuff.
- 1:35:08And I I think that will play into it.
- 1:35:11I, I think there's something going on with Brie Axis now that
- 1:35:14we know that's a girl, I I think there's something with that.
- 1:35:17I think there's a reason. Why?
- 1:35:19I don't know why people were like, shocked about that.
- 1:35:21I just thought it was a shadow. I couldn't.
- 1:35:24Yeah, I had a gender. I thought it had a gender.
- 1:35:26I could have swore it was a lady.
- 1:35:28I Maybe she's like, like. Body bit I feel like body bit of
- 1:35:34fear. Ladies like the House of When is
- 1:35:37a girl, right? I think maybe that's why too,
- 1:35:41because everything else is women like a yeah, like you were
- 1:35:46saying, embodiment of women. But I think we're going to see
- 1:35:50more about, well, I think we're going to see more about more is
- 1:35:54what I think. Because she was very much absent
- 1:35:58there. Like you see a little bit in the
- 1:36:00the little Christmas novella and then you don't really see much
- 1:36:03of anything of her in silver flanks.
- 1:36:05Except for like right at the end and.
- 1:36:08And that's it. And there's nothing.
- 1:36:10And there's there's a reason Sarah's very intentional with
- 1:36:15everything she does. So I think there's something
- 1:36:19there. And I, I mean, there's like
- 1:36:20little tiny things like who is this woman that Azrael went to
- 1:36:24see at Rose Hall? Was that his mother?
- 1:36:28That was in the Christmas novella.
- 1:36:30It was just a little thing that was added in there, just a
- 1:36:33little sprinkle. Then there was no more talk
- 1:36:36about it. I, you know, is is Reese and
- 1:36:40going to be I mean, we all know that he is very dark.
- 1:36:44He has a dark side and all that. Is it going to come out?
- 1:36:47Is he going to be the oh, look at him.
- 1:36:50He's such a baby. A baby.
- 1:36:53I mean, I, I have a lot of theories, you know, why is there
- 1:36:57a pool of moonlight in the Supreme Court?
- 1:37:00You know, I mean we. Did not give up that as being
- 1:37:03real or not on the podcast so we could or could not.
- 1:37:10My one of my theories is I because as we know, all the
- 1:37:14series are interconnected. I think that room Dannon, his
- 1:37:20mother because there's bonus chapters where you can see where
- 1:37:22he talks to her stuff. I think this is my theory that
- 1:37:26she went through that, that pool of moonlight because all these
- 1:37:30areas are misty areas. Remember I think Tamlin and her
- 1:37:33were in a relationship. She gave him the pool of
- 1:37:36moonlight as a, you know, as a gift.
- 1:37:39And I think he pushed her through one of those misty
- 1:37:43places. I think she's in Midgard, and I
- 1:37:45think she's room Dannon's mother.
- 1:37:47And I think Room Dannon is Tamlin's child.
- 1:37:51But he's described as looking like Reese.
- 1:37:54Yeah, he looks like Reese. Well, well, if his mother is
- 1:37:57Reese's sister, the one that supposedly died.
- 1:38:01That's true. OK.
- 1:38:03Because when? When when Bryce went through and
- 1:38:06said hey, take me to the Prince of Hell, other theories with
- 1:38:09that. But who did she see?
- 1:38:11She saw Azrael and Reese was right there too because it was
- 1:38:14at the River House. It took her right there.
- 1:38:18So and then she thought Reese was room.
- 1:38:22Yeah. Why does room look so much like
- 1:38:25Reese? I understand there's the
- 1:38:27Starboard night, there's all that kind of extra kind of
- 1:38:29stuff. Yeah, I think there's something
- 1:38:32with Rune and Reese I've known. That I think they're super.
- 1:38:37He is the sweetest baby audience in the entire world.
- 1:38:42I'm telling you, he thinks he's this big.
- 1:38:45He does. He does.
- 1:38:46He thinks he's itty bitty. He does not realize that he's
- 1:38:49very big and because he's a boxer Pitbull.
- 1:38:52And so he's very big and very strong and has, Oh yeah, no
- 1:38:57idea. Has he ever pulled you pretty
- 1:39:00hard? Like you've been like trying to
- 1:39:01walk with him and he sees something he wants.
- 1:39:04So not really. We got him, we sent him away for
- 1:39:09training and he's he's pretty good on a lead.
- 1:39:14But even because we interviewed a bunch of different trainers
- 1:39:17before we decided on the one we went with and every single
- 1:39:21trainer we interviewed was like, oh, what's his breed?
- 1:39:24And we're like football boxer. And they're like, OK, we'll do
- 1:39:27our best. But they're like, those are two
- 1:39:30of the hardest breeds to train. So they're like, he's only going
- 1:39:34to really train so much Unless, you know, we were like, doing 6
- 1:39:39months intensive training, which we sent him away when he was, I
- 1:39:43think, like 3 months old. And I'm like, I don't want to be
- 1:39:46away from my dog for six months. Like, that's insane.
- 1:39:49Yeah. Wow.
- 1:39:52I don't know that. Sweet baby so.
- 1:39:55Sweet. My next door neighbor, they have
- 1:39:58a German shepherd and stuff and that's always her biggest fear
- 1:40:02is that she's going to see. She's going to see a squirrel or
- 1:40:09something or a cat and she's going to kill her off the porch.
- 1:40:13And plus now she's, she has something happening with her
- 1:40:16eyes and not, not my neighbor her, her German Shepherd, and
- 1:40:19she's lying in one eye or she can't see a lot in the other
- 1:40:23eye. She's not being able to see a
- 1:40:25whole lot. But I watched her the other day
- 1:40:27when I was talking to her, she saw a cat down the street and
- 1:40:31she was like, I'm like, I'm like, she saw it.
- 1:40:33Or at least, she's seen the movement and she knew.
- 1:40:37Oh, this dog has an aggressive prey instinct.
- 1:40:41Like luckily our cats taught him from a young age, don't mess
- 1:40:45with me. But he'll still like if they're
- 1:40:47walking by, he'll just be line and run at them.
- 1:40:50And I have to be like. Just be a known.
- 1:40:52He'll stop, but I'm like those, they will slap you in the face.
- 1:40:56They don't care. Well, I seen a video on
- 1:41:00Instagram and it was, it was a pit bull and it was raised by
- 1:41:06cats like from when it was like really itty bitty.
- 1:41:09And it he thinks that he's a cat.
- 1:41:12He likes to curl up in the little cat beds.
- 1:41:15He actually like licks and baths himself kind of like a cat and
- 1:41:19everything. And I'm like, isn't that
- 1:41:21interesting? Just it was a learned behavior
- 1:41:23by who he was raised by. Yeah, I think he's like, people
- 1:41:26curl up on the back of our couch, and I think he learned
- 1:41:29that from our cats because he saw them doing it since he was
- 1:41:32in Betty. Yeah.
- 1:41:35Oh, but he's so cute. I love animals, I just can't do
- 1:41:38one right now. Well, you.
- 1:41:41Have a lot of. Allergies and stuff at your
- 1:41:43house too. Don't.
- 1:41:44You, my oldest and my husband are extremely allergic to cats,
- 1:41:48so we can't do cats and then dogs like dander kind of gets to
- 1:41:53the oldest, but I, I just, I mean, we don't have a pets and
- 1:41:59cats are awesome because you can leave for a weekend and they'll
- 1:42:02be fine. Dogs are a lot of work.
- 1:42:05And when you've got little ones and the dog, that's like, it's
- 1:42:10like another child around. It's, it's a ton, yeah.
- 1:42:13What? Heather, why don't you get one
- 1:42:15of the cats that don't have any hair, Ones that look like a
- 1:42:18ball, You know, the ones that look like a ball sack.
- 1:42:20You know what I'm talking about. I want to get one of the cats
- 1:42:24that I forget the like actual name for it, but the nickname is
- 1:42:28Werewolf cat because they look like werewolves.
- 1:42:31They're not. They're super hypoallergenic as
- 1:42:34well because they're not necessarily completely furless,
- 1:42:37but they look furless with a very thin layer of pitch black
- 1:42:42fur. Cool, very tough to the ears and
- 1:42:44like bright yellow eyes. They look like little werewolf.
- 1:42:48Cool so bad maybe. You could have one of those,
- 1:42:51Heather. Maybe, I don't know, We'll have
- 1:42:53to test it out. And see.
- 1:42:56Trial and see what we like. Well, see, my, my cousin, well,
- 1:43:01my cousin, she was allergic to cats, so she couldn't have a
- 1:43:04cat. So they had one of those little
- 1:43:06tiny miniature poodles because they're hypoallergenic.
- 1:43:09Yeah. And she had Frazier for years.
- 1:43:11I think Frazier was 17 when he passed away.
- 1:43:16And he was out and he was, and he was Frazier, and you had to
- 1:43:19see him. He was named after.
- 1:43:20I think she named him after the TV.
- 1:43:22Show the TV. Yeah, I've seen every single
- 1:43:25episode of that show no less than 100 times each.
- 1:43:28It used to be just like my background show that would loop
- 1:43:32forever and always. And they rebooted it.
- 1:43:35Have you seen the new boot? So bad.
- 1:43:39So bad. Reboots are so bad.
- 1:43:42I just. It's just.
- 1:43:43I'm like, just leave it. Yeah, it.
- 1:43:45Was done it First off, went on too long anyways, right?
- 1:43:49And it's like, not you ended it, you ended it, fine, let it be
- 1:43:54over. Yeah, I feel like some of those
- 1:43:56older shows are older and and good in their era because now
- 1:44:02our era is very tech and you can't kind of bring that
- 1:44:07nostalgia back in this era. Well, very much like How I Met
- 1:44:12Your Mother where, you know, every single night they're like
- 1:44:15all going to bars. And like, they literally
- 1:44:18addressed it on an episode where they're debating and then in
- 1:44:21conversation and like having all these moments, but then as soon
- 1:44:24as they introduce phones, there's there's no need for
- 1:44:27debate anymore. You're just looking it up on
- 1:44:29Google. So yeah, I agree.
- 1:44:31I think a lot of those shows, it's like you're not going to be
- 1:44:33able to recount that. And also very different time
- 1:44:38period. Even something like The Office
- 1:44:40couldn't be made today. No, like not done.
- 1:44:43And I love the Office. I love that show is so much.
- 1:44:47But there's a lot of problematic things, right?
- 1:44:50And if you were trying to make it for this audience, it
- 1:44:53wouldn't fly. The one that the show that got
- 1:44:57me now I love Charmed, the original Charmed.
- 1:45:01That was one of my favorite, absolute favorite shows.
- 1:45:04I can watch it over and over again, that kind of thing.
- 1:45:07I have not watched the reboot because I've heard so many
- 1:45:11people say it's not. I haven't.
- 1:45:14It's not the same feels that I would.
- 1:45:16Have right. Yeah.
- 1:45:18You know, and then they also did.
- 1:45:20Now I haven't watched this and but I didn't really watch the
- 1:45:23other one either but they have the reboot is Malcolm in the
- 1:45:26Middle. Oh yeah, the first one like the
- 1:45:29original. I haven't seen the reboot yet.
- 1:45:32I haven't now. They did recast the youngest
- 1:45:35brother because he had no interest in coming back to the
- 1:45:39world of acting. He is an academic person now.
- 1:45:42He's at Harvard studying and they recast him though with a
- 1:45:46guy and he gave the guy his blessing, everything, the person
- 1:45:49that is playing his part. Interesting.
- 1:45:52But it's interesting how a lot of the shows that we used to
- 1:45:56watch, like I can watch Golden Girls, Designing Women, I love
- 1:46:00those shows. I can watch Friends over and
- 1:46:04over and over again and it does not matter to me.
- 1:46:08It's weird. What shows are your comfort
- 1:46:11shows? But yeah, The Office is one of
- 1:46:14my comfort shows. I love that I can watch, I can
- 1:46:17watch the same episode 10 times and just and still it I laugh.
- 1:46:22It makes me I know I love those. And I did never, I did never
- 1:46:27watch The Office, The original, The Office, the one that was
- 1:46:30made in England, the original. I've never seen it.
- 1:46:34Nothing the I will say the first season of the UK and the US are
- 1:46:39almost word for word like they are identical remates, but then
- 1:46:44obviously the US decided to go in a different direction with
- 1:46:48their second season, but so I've only seen the first season of
- 1:46:50the UK one. Interesting.
- 1:46:52I didn't know there was it shows.
- 1:46:54Yeah, that's cool. What are you currently watching
- 1:46:57on TV right now? Is there any new shows that are
- 1:47:00out because there's so many? With Netflix, with Hulu, with
- 1:47:04all these different things, what has piqued your interest right
- 1:47:07now besides your your reality shows?
- 1:47:10This isn't current by any stretch of the imagination, but
- 1:47:14I am watching for me the first time, not for my husband, but
- 1:47:18we're together watching The Shield.
- 1:47:21He also introduced me to The Sopranos.
- 1:47:23And I was like, this is one of the best TV shows I've ever seen
- 1:47:27in my life. I want to watch something else
- 1:47:28that's the same vibe. Yeah, like, well, if you like
- 1:47:31The Sopranos, he's like, it's not as good, but we should watch
- 1:47:34The Shield. He was like, I think he'd really
- 1:47:35like it. So we're in the second to last
- 1:47:38season of that one. And then for actual current
- 1:47:42stuff, we just finished. We're so far behind, but we just
- 1:47:46finished Season 2 of Severance. Real angry that they only just
- 1:47:52started filming Season 3, so who knows when we're gonna get that.
- 1:47:57We watch White Lotus again whenever HBO was always like,
- 1:48:01you get it when you get it. Yeah.
- 1:48:04Apple TV and HBO, I feel like I'll buy it if it's something
- 1:48:09that I want to watch, and then I get rid of it because they don't
- 1:48:12have consistent things that I like.
- 1:48:14But I also don't have enough documentaries and enough horror
- 1:48:18movies that I'm like, OK, it's worth it for me, Yeah.
- 1:48:23I've been watching. Well I'm waiting for season 3 to
- 1:48:26come out. I hope they do season 3 at
- 1:48:28least. I'm hoping on Hulu they have
- 1:48:30it's 9 perfect strangers. Yes.
- 1:48:33So I didn't watch the second season.
- 1:48:35I saw the first season of it and my second.
- 1:48:38Season is a book. And said the book was really
- 1:48:42good. She said she liked the book a
- 1:48:43lot better than she liked the show.
- 1:48:45I didn't even know it was a book.
- 1:48:48So there you go, you gave me information 9.
- 1:48:51Perfect Strangers is the one that it had Nicole Kidman in
- 1:48:53season. Yes, okay.
- 1:48:54I was thinking, I was like, I'm thinking of the wrong thing.
- 1:48:57Yeah. And it's crazy.
- 1:48:59Episode of that. Okay.
- 1:49:01It gets crazy the whole that whole season and then the second
- 1:49:05season she goes to it's a different location, same kind of
- 1:49:10things, but it's it. But you're getting deeper and
- 1:49:14deeper into and. She is still in it.
- 1:49:18Yes, yes, interesting, because you're and you, you have a new
- 1:49:22cast of people with her though she's.
- 1:49:25Kind of very like White Lotus style, is that it?
- 1:49:28The girl, the girl that was in Schitt's Creek, the one that
- 1:49:33played Alexis, she's in season 2 and she plays a a girl named
- 1:49:38Emma Jean and, and she's completely different than how
- 1:49:43she was on Schitt's Creek. We were just my sisters PA with
- 1:49:49me at this book event that I went to.
- 1:49:51And so when we were at the hotel, we're slowly catching up
- 1:49:55one of my sisters on Schitt's Creek because she never seen it.
- 1:49:58And she we're in the very last season right now, and she's so
- 1:50:03convinced something bad's going to happen.
- 1:50:05She leaves being like, Patrick's going to die.
- 1:50:06Patrick's going to die. Yeah, this character's going to
- 1:50:09die. These people are going to break
- 1:50:10up. And I'm like, what about this
- 1:50:13wholesome act, beautiful, happy show leads you to believe
- 1:50:18something tragic is going to happen?
- 1:50:20Childhood trauma? Literally, I'm like, it's not.
- 1:50:23I literally, I looked at her and I was like, it's not a romantic
- 1:50:26scene. Like that, That is one of the
- 1:50:30best shows that have ever been done and.
- 1:50:34Just. Perfect.
- 1:50:36I'm so sad that we we lost Moira there, you know, because she was
- 1:50:42absolutely amazing. And they were interviewing Dan
- 1:50:47after, you know, they were doing an interview and because they
- 1:50:50were up where they filmed, you know, at the different locations
- 1:50:53and stuff. And they said, do you think
- 1:50:56you'll you'll do it ever do a movie?
- 1:50:58And he said before, you know, losing Catherine, you know, he
- 1:51:03said before that he said, yes, But he said now he said.
- 1:51:07You can't do it without. Her.
- 1:51:08Oh, you couldn't have. You could not have.
- 1:51:10Moira missing. Phone of that show.
- 1:51:13She was so funny and she cracked me up.
- 1:51:16Everything it and just in most of what you saw there, it was
- 1:51:20her. It was just her.
- 1:51:21No take was the same. He was like in there.
- 1:51:25Another, I think it's Apple TVI want to say is the studio, and
- 1:51:30she was in the first season of that.
- 1:51:32And that show is so good. It is so good.
- 1:51:37It is brilliant. It's incredibly well done.
- 1:51:40It's also like a lot of my friends and family are very
- 1:51:43heavily involved in acting and filmmaking.
- 1:51:46So like coming from that background as well.
- 1:51:48It's just it like it hits very close to home.
- 1:51:51But her character in it is the same with shit she's seen, seen
- 1:51:56like any scene she's in. She is the only one that you can
- 1:51:59pay attention. Nice.
- 1:52:01Yeah. I love that.
- 1:52:02I have to say that is one of my favorite, absolute favorite
- 1:52:05shows and for comedy and the warmthness of it, I I love that.
- 1:52:11And then one of my other all time favorite shows that I will
- 1:52:14watch over and over again. I cannot watch it with my
- 1:52:16children because it is not children, but I will watch Sex
- 1:52:20and the City. I love Sex and the City, it was
- 1:52:23one of my favorite. Yeah, I was a curmudgeon from a
- 1:52:26young age. And so whenever anything was
- 1:52:29like popular with that, I'm not gonna like that.
- 1:52:31And so it was just, it was a show I never got into because
- 1:52:34everyone liked it and I refused, I guess.
- 1:52:37The first season, in my opinion, is very kind of cringy in a lot
- 1:52:40of ways because of how they do things, because of how she's
- 1:52:43talking more to the camera kind of thing.
- 1:52:45And then as the seasons go, it's better.
- 1:52:48And then they have the one season where she was actually
- 1:52:51pregnant in real life. So it's a shorter season.
- 1:52:54It's kind of a weird season, but the the the final season that
- 1:52:58they split into two, It's very good in the story.
- 1:53:01I I liked it, but I did not, I did not watch the reboot, but I
- 1:53:05did watch that. See, that's another reboot.
- 1:53:07I did watch the clips and stuff from it and I was not.
- 1:53:11It didn't make sense half of what they were doing because who
- 1:53:15their characters were and what they evolved them into, it's not
- 1:53:19who you thought they would be in that.
- 1:53:22Yeah. That second thing, so I think
- 1:53:24they did a disservice to the original franchise with the the
- 1:53:30second thing of whatever it was called what just like that or.
- 1:53:33Whatever. Yeah, that's exact.
- 1:53:35Because that was the one where it was like a younger
- 1:53:37generation, right? Well, yeah.
- 1:53:40Well, it's them. They're in their 50s and
- 1:53:42whatever. And they they, they eliminate
- 1:53:45him. Yeah, yeah, like she's married
- 1:53:48the big and I mean. He has his peloton.
- 1:53:53Yeah, something happened to big and then it just kind of like
- 1:53:56changes her life. So she becomes kind of like
- 1:54:00stuck and she goes. After Natasha and it's weird.
- 1:54:04It's. It's different.
- 1:54:06I don't know. It's it's another one of those
- 1:54:07series that's nostalgic in its own era.
- 1:54:10Like, yeah, the way that those girls were in their era is not
- 1:54:15how they're gonna be today in the technology world.
- 1:54:18Yeah, it's just. But it's it's real weird.
- 1:54:20And then Charlotte is is very odd with it and then her kids
- 1:54:25and then her oldest daughter and and Brady get together and it's
- 1:54:30just it it's just, I mean, I understand it could happen, you
- 1:54:34know, because they were friends, but it's just and it's very it's
- 1:54:36just weird on how some of them it's just every every.
- 1:54:40Social thing, you just lose the charm.
- 1:54:42Like, well, I think they tried to do too many things, things
- 1:54:47that were popular of ideas like, you know, everything possible,
- 1:54:53you know, you know, what is the word that everybody's, you know,
- 1:54:58I'm trying to think of it social acceptable kind of things.
- 1:55:02They had to do everything instead of just doing like one
- 1:55:06or two, they did everything that could possibly be.
- 1:55:10And I think that might have been the detriment to yes, it was the
- 1:55:14detriment to that show. It was too many.
- 1:55:17It's like when you read a book and they throw every trope in.
- 1:55:20Yes, catch all of them. All of them.
- 1:55:23Yeah, exactly. Like, please stop.
- 1:55:28Which is. I felt a little bit with
- 1:55:30Quicksilver the whole time I was reading.
- 1:55:33I was like, we're just just getting all of them, aren't we?
- 1:55:37Yeah, I listen to that on audiobooks, so I think I missed
- 1:55:41a lot of that stuff. Because Anthony Palomini does
- 1:55:46amazing audiobooks. I love this voice.
- 1:55:48Started listening to the audiobook of that one and I
- 1:55:51don't know why, but I couldn't get into it.
- 1:55:54Yeah, but I, so I just, I switched to the physical copy
- 1:55:57because I had that. Yes, it's definitely one of
- 1:55:59those like when I was like with Roto Bones, it was like, OK, I
- 1:56:03need to kind of follow along somewhere.
- 1:56:06And then eventually like I caught up and I was like, OK, I
- 1:56:08know this person. I know who that voice is and
- 1:56:11this person and Creeper and yeah, all that stuff.
- 1:56:15So. I I liked quick and I have not
- 1:56:17read Brimstone yet. I have it sitting up.
- 1:56:20It's sitting on my shelf. It's been there.
- 1:56:22I pre-ordered it and it's sitting up there and I just
- 1:56:25haven't gotten myself into that mindset to go into it.
- 1:56:28But I did like Quicksilver. I like the end of it because to
- 1:56:32me that last bit like when he when she wakes up kind of moment
- 1:56:37thing and then they look out the balcony and they look out to me.
- 1:56:42It's like such a cinematic moment in my mind.
- 1:56:45And it's like, you know, like how at the end of the movie,
- 1:56:47like something shocking happens. It's like a cliffhanger and then
- 1:56:50the camera pans and all that. That's what I see now.
- 1:56:53Do you now, I'm going to ask you now, are you a visual?
- 1:56:57When you read, do you see a movie in your mind?
- 1:57:00I'm shocked that people don't. See that?
- 1:57:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some people, they don't see it.
- 1:57:06Or a lot of people also don't think in words, if that makes
- 1:57:11sense. Like they just like think in
- 1:57:13concept, but instead of like actually thinking out the
- 1:57:17sentence, they're just aware of what they're trying to come up
- 1:57:20with. I think in sentences I think in
- 1:57:22like full. Narration.
- 1:57:24But I mean, I hear their voices, I hear, I see them, I hear their
- 1:57:29voices. I mean, it might not be like
- 1:57:31some people see like real, like big detail.
- 1:57:34I don't know if I'm quite to that end of it, but I see it and
- 1:57:38everything. But I mean, it's weird to me
- 1:57:41that I that like when I'm thinking about something, I hear
- 1:57:44my own voice in my mind when I'm there and there are people that
- 1:57:47don't. Hear yeah, they don't have their
- 1:57:49inner mom voice or something like that, but they say it's
- 1:57:52your mom's voice in your head or something like that.
- 1:57:55But I have, I do talk to myself in my head.
- 1:57:59You have great conversations myself and I, I, I talk to
- 1:58:03myself and my pets because I, you know, my husband works.
- 1:58:06Then I stay at home and write and so it's my favorite thing is
- 1:58:10whenever he leaves the house, I like to see how long I can go
- 1:58:13without speaking or like making a single sound.
- 1:58:17I always say to my mom friends, I take for granted how very
- 1:58:20quiet my life is. But inevitably the reason I
- 1:58:25start talking whenever I do is because I'm having a
- 1:58:28conversation with either my cats or my dog.
- 1:58:30Yeah, oh, yeah, I'll be like doing chores and I'll be like,
- 1:58:34oh, I need to go do that. And I like, talk out loud like
- 1:58:38this whole like playing to myself, like, OK, we're going to
- 1:58:40do this. Then I, oh, I forgot to do that.
- 1:58:43Then my 80s catches on. I talk to myself a lot because
- 1:58:48like what I'm doing and then my kids will ask me and they're
- 1:58:50like mom because I homeschool. So my kids are always with me
- 1:58:52and they're like, who are you talking?
- 1:58:53To Yeah, I said. I'm.
- 1:58:54Talking to myself and you're like, don't.
- 1:58:56Worry about it, it's your business who I'm talking to you.
- 1:58:59And they're just because they're nosy.
- 1:59:00They're nosy. People are like, what are you
- 1:59:02talking about? Yeah, my 5 year old is very
- 1:59:04curious these days, you know, so I have to like watch what I'm
- 1:59:08doing sometimes because just like mom, what do you do?
- 1:59:11Who are you talking to? Like my book is or like I'll
- 1:59:15laugh, you know, like when I'm. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:59:17Reading. He's like, what's so funny?
- 1:59:19Why are you laughing, Mom? And you're just at the cusp of
- 1:59:24the age of that. He's paying attention and he
- 1:59:26knows and he will pick up on. Things, yeah, cuz now my old man
- 1:59:32sometimes because he thinks that might.
- 1:59:35Oh yeah. Now my oldest has no interest in
- 1:59:39he's like his dad has no interest in what I'm reading,
- 1:59:42what I'm doing. Now the middle 10, he's he's
- 1:59:44more he wants to know, like he was asking me today because he
- 1:59:48knew what we were doing this today and he was asking me
- 1:59:50questions about your books and stuff.
- 1:59:52And I was telling him just about what I read from the, you know,
- 1:59:56the first one there. And he's like, oh, he's like,
- 1:59:58that's interesting. I hope I can instill into at
- 2:00:01least one of my children the love of reading.
- 2:00:05Yeah. My, my little 1.
- 2:00:07I don't know. She's kind of she's on.
- 2:00:09She's little. Yeah.
- 2:00:10I mean, she's 10, but she's kind of.
- 2:00:12I I don't know which way she'll go.
- 2:00:14My oldest, I know I bought him the Witcher set for Christmas
- 2:00:18and not because he loves the Witcher and him and I have now
- 2:00:22he's again, I told you he's going to be 16.
- 2:00:24Him and I have been watching The Witcher on Netflix.
- 2:00:29We send the other ones away because there is a lot of boobs.
- 2:00:33I did not like we got Episode 1 into the third season and I
- 2:00:39couldn't. Oh, I didn't with Liam.
- 2:00:41I boycott it. I was like Nope, I'm not sorry.
- 2:00:45I'm still in season. One season 1 is great, Season 1
- 2:00:50is incredible. Season 2 I liked more than a lot
- 2:00:52of people did, but I understand why people had their issues with
- 2:00:56it. Season 3, I was no, I don't have
- 2:01:00enough time to waste it on something I don't like, right?
- 2:01:02Yeah. Well, see, I didn't know.
- 2:01:05Let's see. And I've watched all of the
- 2:01:07video game because my husband has played all of them.
- 2:01:10And I love the storyline with it.
- 2:01:12And I'm like, Gerald really gets the ladies.
- 2:01:15And so we started watching The Witcher and I was like, I'm
- 2:01:20like, who is this person? Because I don't remember any of
- 2:01:23this from the video game. But my son, he remember I bought
- 2:01:26him the book. So I mean, he obviously has read
- 2:01:28the first book now because he was telling me he's like, that's
- 2:01:31he's like, that's Jennifer. And I'm like, that's Jennifer.
- 2:01:35And I was like, oh, I'm like, she was.
- 2:01:37And I didn't know that. And he's like, yeah, mom, he's
- 2:01:39like she was she had a humpback and all this.
- 2:01:42And I'm like, well, yeah, it but so you should be watching this
- 2:01:46with my son. That's and there's poops he.
- 2:01:49Doesn't. Make any comments.
- 2:01:51And he doesn't seem like he's like, now my age.
- 2:01:54I would have been like, so embarrassed sitting with my mom
- 2:01:57or whatever if there was naked things on the screen.
- 2:01:59Yeah, he shows. But maybe it's because he's
- 2:02:01homeschooled and we talk and we're very open and we talk
- 2:02:04about everything. Maybe that's why he doesn't have
- 2:02:07any. Fantasy settings, so it doesn't
- 2:02:09feel real. It feels very fantastic, like
- 2:02:12book characters. I've got 10 nephews and I have
- 2:02:18told them because a lot of them are like, well, when can I read
- 2:02:21Aunt Partners? But I've told them in no
- 2:02:24uncertain terms. I'm like, First off, not until
- 2:02:26you're over 18. And 2nd off, if you ever read
- 2:02:29anything I write, I don't want to know about it.
- 2:02:32I don't want to know how my nieces react to anything that I
- 2:02:36I'm like, Nope, Nope. Yeah, read it if you want to
- 2:02:39once you're 18, but do not tell me about it.
- 2:02:42I've seen different authors in that they'll write like at the
- 2:02:45beginning of their book for like their mom.
- 2:02:47You can't read these. Don't read these chapters or
- 2:02:50you're not allowed to read my books.
- 2:02:51Oh, yeah, I could see that. My parents are authors, and so
- 2:02:54they're like, very big and very supportive.
- 2:02:57And my mom was making some comment about like, I can't wait
- 2:03:01to read it. And I went please, no.
- 2:03:04She was like, of course I'm going to read it.
- 2:03:06And my dad was like, I was like, we, we don't want to read these
- 2:03:10books. I was like, no, you don't want
- 2:03:12to read these books, please. What genre do they write?
- 2:03:16Yeah, Christian novels. OK.
- 2:03:19Oh yeah, Very, very religious. Yeah.
- 2:03:24So have you read what they wrote?
- 2:03:28OK. I'm not the target audience.
- 2:03:34They are both good writers. They're and they're great, very
- 2:03:38supportive people. I'm not the target audience.
- 2:03:40So isn't that so funny how we become so opposite like some of
- 2:03:44us are not apple from a tree, like, yeah, very different
- 2:03:49realities. That's that's me and my brother.
- 2:03:52He and I are very much are our own people in that sentence.
- 2:03:57Yeah. That does your does your brother
- 2:03:59write since you you seem to have a lot of authors in your family.
- 2:04:03No, I'm the only one of my siblings.
- 2:04:05There's five of us. I'm the youngest of five.
- 2:04:07I'm the only one who pursued any kind of writing.
- 2:04:11But all of us are very, very active readers.
- 2:04:15And his partner, actually, I went and did a book convention
- 2:04:20because he lives in DC and I did a convention in DC and he was
- 2:04:23there with me. And so I left copies of my book
- 2:04:26for his partner because I know that she likes fantasy.
- 2:04:29She actually likes the Witcher series as well.
- 2:04:31And she has now become my #1 fan and is obsessed with it.
- 2:04:38Nice. And.
- 2:04:39I my sky went away. Oh, no, sorry.
- 2:04:42Oh no. I didn't notice my sky, I was so
- 2:04:45I was engrossed in our covers. I just noticed I have no stars
- 2:04:49above me. That's pretty neat, but I will
- 2:04:52think 1. Of my sisters or two of my
- 2:04:55sisters actually are beta readers for me.
- 2:04:58I have a very, very small circle of beta readers cuz I am
- 2:05:02incredibly influenceable. So like, I'm the type of author
- 2:05:07where I want to make sure I'm doing it to where everyone's
- 2:05:11gonna like it. And I, you know, I wanna like,
- 2:05:13head off bad reviews before they get there.
- 2:05:15And so then I find myself losing my voice and losing the story
- 2:05:20that I'm actually trying to tell.
- 2:05:22So I keep, I keep my beta readers, a very small team of
- 2:05:25people who all know me in real life and have been reading my
- 2:05:29writing my entire life. Yeah, that's good.
- 2:05:32So that they can be like, no, this is this is your voice.
- 2:05:34You're not losing your voice. That's so good.
- 2:05:37That's exciting. But hey, I have to tell you all,
- 2:05:40this has been fun today, yeah? It has been now are you?
- 2:05:44Now, would you like to come back in October so we could talk
- 2:05:48about whatever this amazing new book is?
- 2:05:51Almost said the title. I'm really glad I caught myself
- 2:05:53up the last second. Dang it, we almost got a
- 2:05:55Rebecca. I had a lot of fun the other day
- 2:05:59with my street team because they obviously get a lot of updates
- 2:06:03before other people do. And I just told them to like
- 2:06:05acronym for it and have them guess what they thought the
- 2:06:09title was. And one girl got it almost
- 2:06:11exactly right. She was one word off.
- 2:06:13I was like, you nearly got the entire title.
- 2:06:16Wow, that. Is pretty darn neat now.
- 2:06:19OK, so now we know that the Entwine is not a trilogy, it's
- 2:06:23an ongoing series and Magpie Now are officially on.
- 2:06:27They should be on everybody's TBR list.
- 2:06:30Everybody should go out and buy these now.
- 2:06:33Where do you prefer people to get your books from?
- 2:06:35Do you like it if they order them directly from your website?
- 2:06:39Or where do you like them to order?
- 2:06:40It is whatever. My website only ships to the
- 2:06:43continental US, but if you order through my website, you get it
- 2:06:47signed and EBIT art print. So that's fun.
- 2:06:50And then but if anywhere else Amazon ships you, I will say
- 2:06:57with the unfortunate exception of the book that I just released
- 2:06:59because Amazon messed it up and I'm in the process of trying to
- 2:07:04figure it out. But for whatever reason, they
- 2:07:06won't let me order author copies and they do not have the
- 2:07:09paperback available for sale in the US and the UK.
- 2:07:15They don't know why I was just they're lagging these days.
- 2:07:19They're really mad about. Yeah, they do some weird things
- 2:07:23like last year when Carrie likes Book Eldridge came out, it was
- 2:07:27supposed to come out and the people that ordered the ebook
- 2:07:33version got it. But the paperback cuz I ordered
- 2:07:36paperback. Yeah, I pre-ordered it.
- 2:07:38It was over a week cuz it wouldn't let her do what she was
- 2:07:43supposed to do and she's like this is stupid.
- 2:07:45Yeah. So I, I will just say I'm aware
- 2:07:48of that problem. I am actively trying to fix it,
- 2:07:51but they are, you know, not helpful.
- 2:07:55But everything else, yeah, you can order on Amazon.
- 2:07:58You can get it from my website if you're in the continental
- 2:08:00United States, But and then obviously they're also all on
- 2:08:04Kindle Unlimited as well. Nice.

- 2:08:46Thank you. Awesome.
- 2:08:49Thanks so much for having me. This was a lot of fun.
- 2:08:51I have a chit chat. I love this and I will send you
- 2:08:55some of my annotations to your Absolutely please do.
- 2:08:59That's so cool and I love getting to.
- 2:09:02You and we will see you again in October.
- 2:09:05I don't know when you would like to do this because you said
- 2:09:08you're thinking October 9th when your book comes out.
- 2:09:11So we can either we can be ahead of time, we can be the week that
- 2:09:15your book comes out, or we can look forward to or after your
- 2:09:20book does come out. So I think they may be ahead of
- 2:09:23time just because I have a lot of conventions right after that.
- 2:09:26So my recording schedule, it just gets a little tighter
- 2:09:31October and November, but September is there.
- 2:09:34September sounds good to us. Yeah, fun because that would be
- 2:09:37super fun. But thank you again, Parker,
- 2:09:39thank you for coming on. Thank you for coming and talking
- 2:09:41to us because we're crazy, but thank you and I look forward to
- 2:09:46reading all of your books and I hope everyone else does too.
- 2:09:51Me too, thank you all for having me.
- 2:09:54I'll see y'all in September. See you soon.
- 2:09:56Fantastic. Good night book babes.
- 2:10:00Bye.
