- 0:00Speaker 1: Yesterday, Kyle told us a story about what an amazing
- 0:04Speaker 1: weekend hiking in the mountains with your family and finding
- 0:08Speaker 1: a water hole and this other family that was so
- 0:12Speaker 1: like it was such an easy hike for them. Lots
- 0:15Speaker 1: of great things in the story, Yeah, left out a doozy.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I thought, well, it's not like, oh my gosh, I
- 0:21Speaker 2: can't believe I forgot to tell them this. So we
- 0:25Speaker 2: when we got to the like watering hole. There's a
- 0:27Speaker 2: little waterfall there, and the kids were like swimming in it,
- 0:30Speaker 2: and we've been there a million times, and like they
- 0:32Speaker 2: were jumping around in the rocks and playing in the water,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and me and the other mom were just kind of
- 0:36Speaker 2: like sitting off to the side, and Addie comes up
- 0:39Speaker 2: and she's like, I got little grubs on my leg
- 0:40Speaker 2: and she had these little like I don't know, like
- 0:42Speaker 2: little black bugs that I mean, they were tiny, tiny,
- 0:45Speaker 2: teen ti like little worm things, and she just like
- 0:47Speaker 2: flicked them off.
- 0:48Speaker 1: She's like, no big deal, and she.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Just keeps playing and we're like, don't think anything of it.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So they start kind of venturing a little further on
- 0:56Speaker 2: the other side of the watering hole and we can
- 0:59Speaker 2: kind of see them, but not really. And these other
- 1:02Speaker 2: hikers come by and they're like, hey, those are your
- 1:07Speaker 2: kids over there, right, and we're like, yeah, I just
- 1:09Speaker 2: wanted to warn you. We were just swimming over there
- 1:11Speaker 2: and there are like a ton of leeches over there,
- 1:15Speaker 2: like a ton, and he goes, I think I saw
- 1:19Speaker 2: a couple on your son's chest, and we were like, huh, okay,
- 1:24Speaker 2: thanks for the heads up. And so we have the
- 1:26Speaker 2: kids come over and the little grubs that Addie had
- 1:30Speaker 2: seen on her leg are like miniature leeches. I didn't
- 1:34Speaker 2: know that's what they were.
- 1:35Speaker 3: They were little.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I mean, I just took like these hikers looked legit hikers,
- 1:40Speaker 2: so I figured they knew, you know what I mean.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And so when they came back from the water hole,
- 1:45Speaker 2: we're obviously got to check the kids, and they were
- 1:48Speaker 2: all over them, like literally all over things. I just
- 1:53Speaker 2: took the towel and like scraped them off, and Addie
- 1:56Speaker 2: was like a kind of rough. I'm like, well, you gotta.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Get them off. They were they like because leeches like
- 2:01Speaker 1: suck blood. So were they were? You think they're baby leeches?
- 2:03Speaker 2: I think they were like baby or maybe some other
- 2:06Speaker 2: like is there a different type of leech? Speech.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I don't know, but there was a movie. Have you
- 2:11Speaker 1: ever seen the movie called stand by Me? Yes, and
- 2:14Speaker 1: those boys they jump in the water, and.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they weren't the big giant ones, but I did
- 2:20Speaker 2: have to show my kids' pictures of the big giant ones.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Afterwards he told them.
- 2:24Speaker 2: They were like, oh my gosh.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I go.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Now you see why I wanted to get them off
- 2:28Speaker 2: and make sure that they weren't staying.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Can you do you think that stops them from wanting
- 2:31Speaker 1: to go back to the wateringillar like, we're good.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Well, it's funny because my brother has gone on that
- 2:36Speaker 2: hike with me several times. We were telling him about
- 2:37Speaker 2: it later and he's like, we are never going there again,
- 2:40Speaker 2: never ever. Yeah, I'm like, but we've never seen that
- 2:42Speaker 2: before me what happened with you and leeches?
- 2:47Speaker 3: So this weekend, my sister and I were at the
- 2:50Speaker 3: Salt River and we were we we went down when
- 2:54Speaker 3: it was getting dark, and we had gone off at
- 2:57Speaker 3: Granite Reef, which is the furthest point you could get off,
- 3:00Speaker 3: and this girl is at the bottom and she's like
- 3:03Speaker 3: being very meticulous about her paddle board and we're just
- 3:06Speaker 3: like whatever, and then she was like, I have a
- 3:08Speaker 3: bunch of leeches on my paddle board.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And it was so.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Cool because we saw bats and then we saw a
- 3:15Speaker 3: beaver and then anyway, my sister doesn't like, yeah side
- 3:18Speaker 3: with critters, and we were seeing all kinds of them,
- 3:21Speaker 3: but she like freaked out when this girl will say
- 3:24Speaker 3: there were leeches on her board and then I'm like,
- 3:27Speaker 3: I have never seen leeches down here. I'm sure it
- 3:28Speaker 3: wasn't leeches, but she looked it up online and I
- 3:31Speaker 3: guess there are leeches hanging out at the bottom at Grant.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Leeches.
- 3:41Speaker 1: That's why when when I was at a couple of
- 3:42Speaker 1: years ago, I went to go see Pat Hickey fourth
- 3:44Speaker 1: of July and in Courtelaine, and We're in a boat
- 3:47Speaker 1: and jumping the lake and I'm just like, I feel
- 3:50Speaker 1: like there's animals in the lake that shouldn't be here
- 3:52Speaker 1: that I don't need, and leeches is one of them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And it's kind of like now as I get a
- 3:56Speaker 1: little bit older and go swimming with my kids in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the ocean, I'm done with the ocean. On the ocean,
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm done. My wife dead, She's like, we're in We're
- 4:02Speaker 1: in Hawaii's move camp. Back out She's like, I just
- 4:04Speaker 1: want to go jump with oce real quick. I'm like,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm only going into my waist. I'm jumping under and
- 4:08Speaker 1: then I'm getting out. There's too many big animals in
- 4:11Speaker 1: the ocean. I'm done with it. And leeches scare me
- 4:13Speaker 1: to death. Inact, I remember one time I have three
- 4:19Speaker 1: leeches at my house. One goes to the U of A,
- 4:23Speaker 1: one just graduate college. And then the other time. People
- 4:27Speaker 1: used to think my dad was Robin Leech.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Reaching.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he was the host that my dad out. People
- 4:34Speaker 1: will come take pictures of them, these Europeans because he
- 4:37Speaker 1: was the tour guy. They thought he was Robbing leech
- 4:38Speaker 1: and it happened a lot. Those are my experience with leaches,
- 4:42Speaker 1: the three I have at home and Robbin the leech.
- 4:45Speaker 1: That's scary, man.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I know definitely don't to think about. But I think
- 4:49Speaker 2: we will definitely go back on that hike. I mean
- 4:50Speaker 2: that was the first time we ever.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Just don't jump in the water.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Just don't jump in the water.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Forget it, man, look at the water first before you
- 4:55Speaker 1: where the leeches come from? Like, is there a big
- 4:57Speaker 1: mama leech is just dropping these things out? Like what
- 4:59Speaker 1: I need a Google it must be feeding off something
- 5:03Speaker 1: at the bottom of the kids.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Let's
