- 0:24Speaker 2: end of the week for us inside the Treehouse. It's
- 0:29Speaker 2: been a fun one and because we've had so much
- 0:32Speaker 2: content this week and not enough time to get to
- 0:36Speaker 2: all of it, we're going to blow it all out
- 0:39Speaker 2: today as much as we possibly can. We saved any
- 0:45Speaker 2: discussion of the Avengers Doomsday trailer to today so we
- 0:50Speaker 2: can include you, Jerry before we get to that. We
- 0:54Speaker 2: also might have coming up if we can get to
- 0:58Speaker 2: all of it, the body Wash, Heist of the Century,
- 1:08Speaker 2: the Finger Seen round the World, and gen Z wants
- 1:15Speaker 2: our hand me downs, so time permitting, we will get
- 1:19Speaker 2: to all that glorious stuff today inside the Treehouse. Speaking
- 1:22Speaker 2: of which, if you love what you're here here today,

- 1:33Speaker 2: we can grow the tree House Show again. Let me
- 1:36Speaker 2: re emphasize that let's grow the Treehouse show and we
- 1:40Speaker 2: need your help to do it. Please and thank you.
- 1:45Speaker 2: All right, we have waited all week to talk about
- 1:49Speaker 2: the Avengers Doomsday trailer, which I bathed in all week.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I am a huge movie trailer dork. I love a
- 1:58Speaker 2: good movie trailer, and the older I get, I've realized
- 2:01Speaker 2: why because they are full of hope and possibilities and
- 2:05Speaker 2: no disappointment. It is rare I've been disappointed by a trailer.
- 2:12Speaker 2: There have been numerous trailers though that I have loved
- 2:15Speaker 2: and then been completely annihilated disappointed by the movie itself.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But I don't know if I can ever recall a
- 2:22Speaker 2: trailer letting me down.
- 2:27Speaker 3: No, that's fair.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I mean there are a lot of times you look
- 2:30Speaker 1: at a trailer and you go, man, I hope that's
- 2:32Speaker 1: not just the best parts.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Of the movie, right, Have I seen the movie now? Yeah?
- 2:36Speaker 2: And sometimes if you watch enough trailers, I believe that
- 2:41Speaker 2: you can tell if the trailer is long enough and
- 2:44Speaker 2: has enough good stuff in it, then you probably just
- 2:49Speaker 2: watched all the good parts in the movie. If there's
- 2:51Speaker 2: a bunch of mystery and clue type things or possible
- 2:55Speaker 2: things that could go a couple different ways, and they
- 2:58Speaker 2: can be tricky, so it's hard. But yeah, sometimes you
- 3:03Speaker 2: can see the movie in the trailer, Like when I
- 3:06Speaker 2: went to go see The Odyssey the other day, for
- 3:08Speaker 2: some reason, they included a trailer for some new Jason
- 3:10Speaker 2: Statham movie. I don't need to see the movie. I
- 3:13Speaker 2: saw the two and a half minute trailer. It looked great.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I enjoyed it ninety percent on Rotten Tomatoes. For me,
- 3:18Speaker 2: I don't need to see the movie.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Is that the new one with him?
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think it's Hannah Waddington in it, Yes, because that's actually,
- 3:27Speaker 1: from what I've read, is supposed to be good.
- 3:31Speaker 3: It was, it was.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Great, But I am not going to spend fifteen twenty
- 3:36Speaker 2: thirty dollars in the movie theater for that. I'll happily
- 3:39Speaker 2: watch that on my phone or tablet at the gym.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I enjoy a Jason Statham movie.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I think he is.
- 3:48Speaker 2: He's one of my good action star. Yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 1: They're light, I mean, you know what you're getting. They're
- 3:54Speaker 1: not you know, they're a little campy usually, but I
- 3:58Speaker 1: generally I'm good with his movie. Is it something I'm
- 4:01Speaker 1: gonna go see in a theater? Probably?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Not exactly I love almost every movie I've seen Jason
- 4:08Speaker 2: Statham in, and You're right, I know exactly what I'm
- 4:12Speaker 2: getting when, especially if it's a Jason. If it's a
- 4:15Speaker 2: movie starring Jason Statham and the title is anything reminiscent
- 4:19Speaker 2: of a job of a job occupation, I will happily
- 4:22Speaker 2: watch it on the elliptical at the gym, but I'm
- 4:25Speaker 2: probably not gonna spend forty dollars at the movie theater
- 4:28Speaker 2: for it.
- 4:29Speaker 1: My biggest disappointment of a Jason Statham movie was The Beekeeper,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and it wasn't because of him, and it wasn't because
- 4:37Speaker 1: of the story. It was fucking Jeremy Irons. That was
- 4:40Speaker 1: one of the worst performances. He was so out of
- 4:44Speaker 1: place in that movie.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Did he just mail it in or something? Or was he?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Was he too over the top?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Have you not seen it?
- 4:52Speaker 2: I have not seen that one yet.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's yeah, he's too over the time, He's he is
- 4:57Speaker 1: too qualified to be the Jason statem.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I would agree with that. There's some there's some actors
- 5:04Speaker 2: you're just like, bro, No, come on now.
- 5:07Speaker 1: His his portrayal of the evil the kind of because
- 5:12Speaker 1: he wasn't the main evil person. He was an accessory
- 5:17Speaker 1: kind of but it it was almost Austin Powers.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Ish oh man, yeah, And if it had been Austin Powers,
- 5:26Speaker 2: you'd have been like, oh yeah, nice, I love that.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You know, you can lampoon yourself kind of a deal.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But yeah, it's really disappointing when you see people in
- 5:33Speaker 2: a movie and you're like, oh, look, he's in this movie,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and then you see the movie and go like, oh, sir,
- 5:37Speaker 2: Anthony Hopkins, why'd you take this?
- 5:39Speaker 3: Now? I forget?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Did you see the New Naked Gun?
- 5:44Speaker 2: I have not seen that yet.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Thank you for reminding me, because I that now that's
- 5:48Speaker 1: a trailer where I said all the good parts of
- 5:51Speaker 1: that movie are in that trailer, and from everything I read,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I was one hundred percent correct.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Oh, so you haven't seen it yet either. I have
- 5:57Speaker 2: no desire to see it, Okay, I need to see
- 6:00Speaker 2: I just I feel the need to see it because
- 6:02Speaker 2: it's seth MacFarland, Liam Neeson and so I am a
- 6:07Speaker 2: curious soul and I want to see it, all right. So,
- 6:09Speaker 2: speaking of curious souls and movie trailers, the Avengers Doomsday
- 6:13Speaker 2: trailer dropped earlier this week, and in one day it
- 6:20Speaker 2: hit five hundred three million views, five hundred three million
- 6:25Speaker 2: views in one day for the Avengers Doomsday trailer, which
- 6:29Speaker 2: is actually second. It's the second biggest launch in history
- 6:35Speaker 2: after Spider Man Brand New Day, So Marvel's about to
- 6:39Speaker 2: have a banner here. I think we all knew that already,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but now we're getting concrete evidence. Now Again, that was
- 6:46Speaker 2: just a first day before we hit record on this episode.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I tried looking to see how many views the Avengers
- 6:53Speaker 2: Doomsday trailer had, and I can't count it because there's
- 6:56Speaker 2: so many different accounts that have them. One might have
- 6:59Speaker 2: fifty million views, another one might have twenty minutes, So
- 7:02Speaker 2: I think they're just kind of adding them all up. Obviously,
- 7:06Speaker 2: it's huge, and this is one of those trailers, and
- 7:09Speaker 2: Marvel's really good about this. Still don't know a whole
- 7:13Speaker 2: lot about the film, but people are dissecting it. They're
- 7:16Speaker 2: breaking it down. They are looking at this damn it's
- 7:19Speaker 2: two and a half minutes, and they are watching it
- 7:22Speaker 2: tenth of a second by tenth of a second. They're
- 7:24Speaker 2: watching it frame by frame looking for clues and information.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I'm just going to assume we've all seen it at
- 7:31Speaker 2: least once this week.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I just watched it before I got on here because
- 7:35Speaker 4: it popped up on my feet again. I was like,
- 7:36Speaker 4: why the hell not? So how many times have you
- 7:40Speaker 4: seen it this week?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Jerry?
- 7:42Speaker 4: There's not enough fingers and toes to count it. Okay, Trey,
- 7:45Speaker 4: what about you?
- 7:48Speaker 3: Four or five times?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Surprisingly, I'm right there with you. I will say. One
- 7:54Speaker 2: of my favorite jokes that came out of the first
- 7:57Speaker 2: day of trailer viewing Avengers Doomsday is the when someone
- 8:03Speaker 2: pointed out and made the joke when Thor holds out
- 8:06Speaker 2: the hammer to see if Steve Rodgers is actually Steve Rodgers.
- 8:09Speaker 2: They said, you know, the MCU is really grounded when
- 8:13Speaker 2: Thor is demanding two factor authentication. So I know it's
- 8:22Speaker 2: a trailer. And again they're all about hope and it
- 8:25Speaker 2: may not ever stick the landing, But what did you
- 8:28Speaker 2: think of the trailer? Jerry? Since we saved this topic
- 8:31Speaker 2: just to make sure you were in here, you may
- 8:34Speaker 2: be getting oh full Chubb full Chubb. Absolutely, were you
- 8:40Speaker 2: wielding your tiny meal near and helping Captain America would
- 8:45Speaker 2: grab it. He's aged very well, man.
- 8:52Speaker 4: I've been watching all the little released things that they've
- 8:55Speaker 4: been doing, and all of the pirated footage from all
- 8:58Speaker 4: the other things and just putting all that together, and
- 9:01Speaker 4: then you see this trailer and it's like, you know,
- 9:05Speaker 4: it's like you were saying earlier, you hope they haven't
- 9:07Speaker 4: screwed it up, and it really doesn't look like they have.
- 9:12Speaker 4: But also I hope it's not just because of the
- 9:15Speaker 4: density of everything that's going on. You know, like when
- 9:18Speaker 4: you actually sit down and watch it all together, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 4: is the story going to be cohesive of all that
- 9:23Speaker 4: because you've got so many of the original folks, you've
- 9:26Speaker 4: got all the new guys that are coming in, there's
- 9:28Speaker 4: so much going on.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Is there going to be too much going on? You know?
- 9:32Speaker 4: Those are really the only questions I have. They have
- 9:35Speaker 4: no reason why they should f this thing up, which.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Gives me the reason to believe that it's really possible
- 9:44Speaker 2: that they will. However, however, I feel like I hope
- 9:50Speaker 2: and I do feel like they have watched and they
- 9:54Speaker 2: have learned, and they have taken all the criticism and
- 9:57Speaker 2: feedback that they've received from everybody over the last few years,
- 10:02Speaker 2: and they've shown the ability to pivot. That's why we
- 10:07Speaker 2: don't have the Kang situation. Because of the ant Man
- 10:11Speaker 2: movie in Quantumnia that flopped hard. Plus Jonathan Major's who
- 10:14Speaker 2: had his own issues, well it but it was but
- 10:19Speaker 2: trust me, had had had that ant Man movie where
- 10:22Speaker 2: he was introduced as the big villain landed and done
- 10:27Speaker 2: really well, I think Marvel might have absorbed that or
- 10:30Speaker 2: at least strongly considered it. But it didn't. So I
- 10:33Speaker 2: think they were like, you know what, let's move away
- 10:35Speaker 2: from this.
- 10:35Speaker 4: But see, they didn't have to do that. That's the
- 10:37Speaker 4: whole thing about the multiverse, is that. I mean, yes,
- 10:40Speaker 4: I understand he's a exus beings, and the whole thing
- 10:42Speaker 4: about if you look the same in all of the
- 10:44Speaker 4: all of the various uh universes. You know, that's that's
- 10:49Speaker 4: the nexus being thing. But just find somebody that kind
- 10:52Speaker 4: of looks like him, have some other folks, you can
- 10:54Speaker 4: have anybody play Kang and I that too.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And I think that's I think because because of the
- 11:01Speaker 2: Jonathan Majors thing, they could have recast that and just
- 11:05Speaker 2: like they did with you know, with Roady and Iron
- 11:07Speaker 2: Man to Iron Man two and you you know, you
- 11:09Speaker 2: go from Terrence Howard to Don Cheatle. You know, Marvel's
- 11:13Speaker 2: not above switching out a character here, and they could
- 11:16Speaker 2: have done that with Jonathan Major's and I think they
- 11:20Speaker 2: might have if that ant Man movie had been better received,
- 11:23Speaker 2: but it wasn't, so that they pivoted and said we're
- 11:26Speaker 2: going to go to this Doomsday thing, and I think
- 11:27Speaker 2: ultimately it worked out because they're they're generating way more
- 11:31Speaker 2: buzz and interest with the Doomsday thing than they would
- 11:33Speaker 2: have with the King situation.
- 11:34Speaker 1: You're I disagree with your your premise there Doomsday was
- 11:39Speaker 1: gonna go forward whether or not ant Man was a
- 11:42Speaker 1: success or flopped. I mean that was that was I mean,
- 11:46Speaker 1: this has this is part of their timeline that was
- 11:49Speaker 1: released years and years ago.
- 11:51Speaker 2: But part of that timeline that was released involved the King,
- 11:55Speaker 2: like the Avengers, the King Dynasty, like there was a
- 11:57Speaker 2: whole Avengers movie and a couple of projects that scrapped
- 12:00Speaker 2: because the King situation and the Jonathan Majors thing and
- 12:04Speaker 2: the ant Man movie flopping. Because those things happened, they
- 12:07Speaker 2: basically pulled those out and moved Avengers, Doomsday and Secret
- 12:11Speaker 2: Wars up.
- 12:13Speaker 4: This This the King timeline was going to be the
- 12:16Speaker 4: multiversal part of the timeline was going to be necessary
- 12:20Speaker 4: to get Doctor Doom in here anyway, So because of
- 12:25Speaker 4: that they could cut it off and stitch it together
- 12:29Speaker 4: and it's not such a big deal and.
- 12:31Speaker 2: To sort of fix that. That's the other reason why
- 12:33Speaker 2: they're re releasing Avengers endgame with a little bit of
- 12:37Speaker 2: additional footage to then make it to where you can
- 12:40Speaker 2: go from in game to Doomsday and it'll it'll all
- 12:43Speaker 2: make sense.
- 12:44Speaker 1: They're re releasing in game as a cash.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Grab and additional footage. Oh no, it's absolutely a cash grab.
- 12:51Speaker 2: There's no doubt about.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That reason of additional footage.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but the three and a half hour movie, but
- 12:58Speaker 2: it'll be like one more cut seat.
- 13:03Speaker 1: They did a lot of things, and I think I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: trying to think. I think ant Man movie was probably
- 13:08Speaker 1: the biggest flop since in.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Uh since in game. Maybe I don't. I haven't seen
- 13:17Speaker 2: all the box office.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Marvel or what missus Marvel or whatever the hell that
- 13:21Speaker 1: was the Marvels, the Marvels.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That was probably the Marvels. That was disappointing to me.
- 13:27Speaker 2: There was a trifecta post end game of three movie flops.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I didn't see the box office numbers on this, but
- 13:33Speaker 2: for me personally, the three flops were ant Man in Quantumnia,
- 13:38Speaker 2: the Marvels, and got just my brain just took a
- 13:45Speaker 2: huge cyclist or a dump m M. I'll think of it.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The second, the one where the Earth is an egg.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Fantastic four would be my.
- 14:01Speaker 2: See. And this is part of the problem, is there's
- 14:03Speaker 2: you could you can just rattle off a handful of
- 14:05Speaker 2: the problem. I remember Love and Thunder thor Love and Thunder.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. To me, That
- 14:12Speaker 2: to me was one of the biggest disappointments. I thought
- 14:14Speaker 2: they I thought they they let Taika White TD have
- 14:19Speaker 2: too much freedom. Yes, there were moments I thought were
- 14:22Speaker 2: really good and then some stuff I thought was really
- 14:25Speaker 2: like over the top silly. Of all the projects, that
- 14:28Speaker 2: was the one I was probably most looking forward to.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Therefore most disappointed.
- 14:33Speaker 1: The Thor movies to me have been hit or miss,
- 14:37Speaker 1: and Love and Thunder fell right into that.
- 14:41Speaker 5: I like.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I mean it was it was campy, but I thought
- 14:43Speaker 1: it was funny.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Uh uh fat uh fat thor.
- 14:49Speaker 1: No fat Russell uh who played sus Russell Crow Russell Crow?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that made me laugh.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there's funny stuff in there, don't get me wrong,
- 15:02Speaker 2: But I yeah, I.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Think I don't think they were ever going to I mean,
- 15:08Speaker 1: the Spider Man movie. We knew those have for the
- 15:11Speaker 1: most part, always been solid. I don't think they were.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I don't think they are going to stick the Avengers
- 15:16Speaker 1: name on anything that's going to be a flop, that
- 15:20Speaker 1: that's that's their cash cow.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And I've also read where they have gone ahead and
- 15:28Speaker 1: scrapped any future Fantastic Four movies, and I'm thrilled.
- 15:31Speaker 3: With that because I thought it just sucked.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I I I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it for a
- 15:38Speaker 2: movie at the theater, but it didn't it didn't wow me.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't know how they have just flubbed that portion
- 15:49Speaker 1: of Marble's the Fantastic Four movies, although I thought the
- 15:51Speaker 1: first one was fine, but in general.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Which first one, like like when Chris Evans was Torch
- 15:58Speaker 2: and you have Jessica al But yeah, I thought that
- 16:00Speaker 2: was fine too. The weird thing is I never felt
- 16:03Speaker 2: a huge pull towards the Fantastic Four characters. I mean,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I like the thing Torch was cool because he could
- 16:09Speaker 2: fly around, he's on fire, But I was never like,
- 16:11Speaker 2: Woo the Fantastic Four, Yeah, that was a cartoon.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I kind of grew up with. Yeah, of all the
- 16:16Speaker 1: Marvel stuff, that that was in my wheelhouse, and they
- 16:21Speaker 1: just they have flubbed that that part of the franchise
- 16:25Speaker 1: over and over and over again.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Which is is kind of mind boggling when you think
- 16:29Speaker 2: about it, because it's one of the greatest villains in
- 16:34Speaker 2: comics book lore. I don't care whether you're DC, whether
- 16:38Speaker 2: you're Marvel or Graphic Novel World off on some other thing.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Doom is one of the ultimate batties that you know
- 16:46Speaker 2: humans have created with, you know, with just Fantasy.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I thought you were talking about the other big bad
- 16:54Speaker 4: that they introduced in the his Well, that's the Herald,
- 16:59Speaker 4: the big planet eater go his name just leaped out
- 17:01Speaker 4: of my ear. Oh Colossus or whatever, or the big
- 17:05Speaker 4: dude that they fought in the movie. Yes, the big
- 17:09Speaker 4: dude looks.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I just had it. And then I've seen a lot
- 17:13Speaker 2: of things recently. I just I saw The Odyssey this week,
- 17:16Speaker 2: so I got a lot of Greek names in my
- 17:18Speaker 2: head going as well. I can't keep I can't keep
- 17:21Speaker 2: track of all the other names, but a feather.
- 17:22Speaker 1: In that because I'm curious about what your thoughts are
- 17:25Speaker 1: in that one.
- 17:26Speaker 2: So anyway, Avengers dooms Day. It looks really good. It's
- 17:30Speaker 2: been interesting with some of the dissecting people have done.
- 17:33Speaker 2: So the theory is, the fan theory is that doctor
- 17:39Speaker 2: Doom may not necessarily present himself as a villain in
- 17:44Speaker 2: this film. So I think there's going to be like
- 17:45Speaker 2: two of them, right, He's going to come in saying, look,
- 17:48Speaker 2: there's a big, bad situation happening. We have to figure
- 17:51Speaker 2: out a way to fix it. And that's supposedly three
- 17:55Speaker 2: different universes heading for an incursion and they're all going
- 17:58Speaker 2: to collide. So you have the Uni verse that are
- 18:00Speaker 2: Fantastic Four people are from allegedly, well, I mean we
- 18:04Speaker 2: saw that at the end of Thunderbolts. And then you
- 18:06Speaker 2: have our main timeline that we're all used to. That's
- 18:09Speaker 2: the Earth six one six, So that's our universe, Fantastic four,
- 18:14Speaker 2: the Avenger Universe, Yeah, the Avenger Universe is six one six,
- 18:18Speaker 2: and then the X Men universe is the third. And
- 18:20Speaker 2: that's how we get all these things together. And that's okay.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And and and that's I've read the same thing where
- 18:29Speaker 1: they say they postulate that Doom the friends all of them,
- 18:34Speaker 1: and that he's actually trying to get him to destroy
- 18:37Speaker 1: their universes. But he's trying to get him to work together,
- 18:40Speaker 1: but then they there and puts them against each other
- 18:42Speaker 1: fighting blah blah blah.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Right battle World. Yeah, yeah, and you mentioned the Battle
- 18:50Speaker 2: World thing. I'm unfamiliar with it. I've heard it kicked
- 18:52Speaker 2: around online before, because again, I'm not the comic book guy.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I'm the movie guy, Jerry, You're all things Marvel and
- 19:00Speaker 2: Trays like me is more of the you know, the
- 19:03Speaker 2: TV shows and the movies and stuff. So I've I've
- 19:07Speaker 2: heard that name thrown around at a lot of the
- 19:09Speaker 2: clues people that have broken down the trailer and said, oh,
- 19:11Speaker 2: this is just a Battle World thingut that I's like, okay, cool.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I just I just want it to be good.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I find the nerddom of the breaking down the trailer
- 19:20Speaker 1: has been absolutely just fantastic to watch because I mean,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I admire the people that really know the comic books.
- 19:29Speaker 1: X Men were really the only comic book I even
- 19:30Speaker 1: was vaguely familiar with it in this world. But you know,
- 19:35Speaker 1: like I mean, I think I saw one where they said, oh, no,
- 19:37Speaker 1: that's not Steve Rogers, that's the Hydra Steve Rogers.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That's not Yeah, that's not Captain America. It's Captain Hydra.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Yeah, no, he's worthy, so can't be that, that's right.
- 19:50Speaker 1: And then everyone is saying that there's someone behind Steve
- 19:52Speaker 1: Rodgers and that's got to be Loki. And that's why
- 19:55Speaker 1: Thor looks so stunned. Is it's his brother and his
- 19:57Speaker 1: friend that he thought he lost both.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the other thing too. It's like, man, Tom
- 20:04Speaker 2: Hittleston has got to be thinking. He's like, how many
- 20:07Speaker 2: times am I going to play the same character? This
- 20:09Speaker 2: is amazing. He's got like three different versions of Loki
- 20:13Speaker 2: he has to play. Mm hmmmm.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Like you talk about the timeline branches, and there's really
- 20:20Speaker 4: at one point, there's like three Lokis that he's playing
- 20:24Speaker 4: from three different timelines. He played probably half a dozen
- 20:28Speaker 4: in the series alone.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm sure he's he's contemplating this all the way to
- 20:33Speaker 1: the bank.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Exactly, Yeah, exactly, he's not. He's not driving. He has
- 20:39Speaker 2: someone doing that.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And every time.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I believe it is no coincidence that that Loki's.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Color is green, green, and gold. Baby, it is the
- 20:51Speaker 4: color of Monney.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Uh So, Yeah, the Avengers Doomsday trailer drops and then
- 20:57Speaker 2: you know half the world stopped, uh Or a day
- 21:00Speaker 2: tough days.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Are y'all both on and everything I've read, and Jerry,
- 21:06Speaker 1: you'd be the person to really know this. Do we
- 21:10Speaker 1: all believe that the timeline incursion it goes back to
- 21:13Speaker 1: Steve Rodgers staying in that one timeline and that that's
- 21:19Speaker 1: where all the stems from.
- 21:21Speaker 4: No, this stems from a combination of when the Avengers
- 21:27Speaker 4: went back in time to get the Infinity Stones, brought
- 21:30Speaker 4: them forward after they had already been defeated by the Notes,
- 21:37Speaker 4: and then the other one is the reason the reason
- 21:42Speaker 4: why it was so thin in Spider Man.
- 21:47Speaker 2: In the last Spider Man movie was because of that, and.
- 21:50Speaker 4: That's what actually cracked the shell and started the whole thing.
- 21:53Speaker 4: So it's a combination of those two things.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So you don't think it could be Steve Rodgers staying
- 21:58Speaker 1: in that one timeline that he's didn't have.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I mean, it didn't help, but I don't think it's
- 22:03Speaker 4: I don't believe was the cause of it.
- 22:05Speaker 2: If that was the only thing that had happened, and people.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Only I've just read that that's one of the main
- 22:10Speaker 1: things that has caused the timelines.
- 22:13Speaker 4: To There's really no one main thing. It's it's just
- 22:18Speaker 4: a combination of all of it.
- 22:20Speaker 2: It's basically, you know, we're all just getting schooled in
- 22:25Speaker 2: physics where it's like, Okay, this is the reason why
- 22:27Speaker 2: you're not supposed to mess with time and space and stuff.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Because what was it They even said in Avengers endgame,
- 22:34Speaker 2: right before Thanos shows up, It's like, well, when you
- 22:37Speaker 2: mess with time, time messes back. And that's what's happening.
- 22:41Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:42Speaker 2: They they undid the blip by going back and getting
- 22:44Speaker 2: the stones, and there are consequences to it, and the
- 22:49Speaker 2: other decisions underneath that, like Steve staying with Peggy in
- 22:52Speaker 2: the past and whatever else that happened, and Spider Man,
- 22:55Speaker 2: you know, telling doctor Strange, Hey make everyone forget about me,
- 23:00Speaker 2: and so those things I think I'll add together and
- 23:02Speaker 2: that gets us to where we are. And then and
- 23:05Speaker 2: then through all of that, we get Robert Downey Junior
- 23:07Speaker 2: back in there, not as Iron Man but instead as
- 23:09Speaker 2: Victor von Doom.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yes, I think Dan and I had this conversation off
- 23:15Speaker 1: the air, But what was your your thoughts on on
- 23:19Speaker 1: Downey's accent.
- 23:21Speaker 3: In the trailer?
- 23:23Speaker 4: Holy crap, that was Downy doing the voiceover. We think, so, yes,
- 23:30Speaker 4: do I need to play a portion of it. Uh,
- 23:32Speaker 4: that's you know what. That accent was atrocious. Whoever the
- 23:37Speaker 4: hell it.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Was, thank you?
- 23:40Speaker 2: Really that was man.
- 23:43Speaker 4: That was worse than when Scarlett Johansson started with her
- 23:46Speaker 4: Russian accent and had to move out of it.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Oh, that was far worse than that.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Well okay, now, well we're talking about Marvel accents here. Okay,
- 23:54Speaker 2: we could do a quick ranking our DJ's Victor von
- 23:58Speaker 2: Doom is a Scarlett Johansson's Russian accent is b C
- 24:05Speaker 2: is Elizabeth Olsen's accent as whitch And I'm I'm not
- 24:12Speaker 2: gonna pick on her brother. That the guy that played
- 24:16Speaker 2: her brother, I'm brain fighting on his name. The guy
- 24:19Speaker 2: that's married to the fifty Aaron Taylor Johnson. I'm not
- 24:21Speaker 2: gonna pick on Aaron Taylor Johnson's be goes. That dude
- 24:23Speaker 2: died in one movie, so whatever. But then she changed
- 24:26Speaker 2: her accent within the next movie and a half, it
- 24:29Speaker 2: was she was you know, Norman.
- 24:33Speaker 1: That was all at least explainable because she had gone
- 24:36Speaker 1: from was it Romania and then she's now hanging out
- 24:38Speaker 1: with English people.
- 24:39Speaker 2: So you don't lose your accent in a film and
- 24:42Speaker 2: a half. Maybe she studied it, you know, trying to.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Finish time in between there.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Okay, so if you have to rank the three accents,
- 24:50Speaker 2: RDJ as Victor von Doom, Scarlett Johansson is Russian, or
- 24:56Speaker 2: Elizabeth Olsen's accent from a of old tron.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Which was the best, which was the worst, from worst
- 25:04Speaker 4: to best a CB all right, so mhm Robert Downey Jr. Bad,
- 25:12Speaker 4: Scarlett Johansson least bad, and in the middle of Elizabeth Olson.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I told you I thought, uh, Robert Downer Jr's accent
- 25:21Speaker 1: in the if that is him and the trailer that
- 25:24Speaker 1: it sounds like the the evil guy from Rocky and Bullwinkle.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Boris.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he is.
- 25:37Speaker 2: All right, we got I have to I have to
- 25:39Speaker 2: have to compare this here let me see, all right,
- 25:42Speaker 2: here's the trailer. Your feeling, Yeah, listen to the voice.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Something we may not be able to for this day
- 26:01Speaker 5: is done. I should be fast with an about decision.
- 26:09Speaker 2: See there was some Scottish ship there broke.
- 26:12Speaker 1: No, I'm sorry we missed out one of the horror
- 26:14Speaker 1: really bad accents. And this is what it reminds me of,
- 26:18Speaker 1: is uh iron Man two? Uh what's his name's accent?
- 26:26Speaker 1: That's that is the level.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Of that accent, one of give me my birth is
- 26:33Speaker 4: better give me that million dollars. I could have done
- 26:37Speaker 4: that terrible accent to me, Robert If this is Robert
- 26:41Speaker 4: Downey Jr. And I think it is, it's the lack
- 26:43Speaker 4: of an accent that he's doing. It sounds to me
- 26:46Speaker 4: like he listened to Arnold Schwarzenegger hypnosis tapes.
- 26:51Speaker 2: It's not even gee, no, it really does. It really
- 26:57Speaker 2: sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger talking.
- 27:00Speaker 4: It just it moves in and out to like he
- 27:02Speaker 4: said a word in there that utterly switched over to brogue,
- 27:06Speaker 4: Like you could isolate those two words and you think
- 27:08Speaker 4: you're listening to a Scotsman. And then just it's so inconsistent.
- 27:13Speaker 4: It sounds it sounds like it's hard.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I am hoping that he is masking his true voice
- 27:21Speaker 1: because they'll realize that it's Tony Stark.
- 27:26Speaker 3: That that's my hope.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I pray that this is not what we have to
- 27:30Speaker 1: listen to for the entire Doomsday movie.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I think I want now I wanted to be. When
- 27:34Speaker 2: he starts talking in the dooms like he's he comes out,
- 27:37Speaker 2: he reveals himself. It's the first time we see Victor
- 27:40Speaker 2: von Doom. I want him to sound like Nathan Lane
- 27:44Speaker 2: at a cross at a drag brunch. That would that
- 27:52Speaker 2: would be the shock of the century. Two more gum,
- 28:00Speaker 2: Let's get Daniel Cook from COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration into
- 28:03Speaker 2: the Treehouse eight three three. COOKDFW is the phone number
- 28:07Speaker 2: to get your free roof inspection and property review scheduled
- 28:11Speaker 2: the website cookdfw dot com. I'm going to say some
- 28:15Speaker 2: scary words, Daniel, super l Nino and the effect that
- 28:24Speaker 2: is going to have on weather, especially in the North
- 28:28Speaker 2: Texas area. You know you're right.
- 28:31Speaker 6: I mean, just are officially in going into the super
- 28:35Speaker 6: al Nino. The reason why is because it's warmer than
- 28:38Speaker 6: a regular al Nino, and it does prelude that we
- 28:42Speaker 6: will have a wetter, higher rain percentage than a normal
- 28:47Speaker 6: year or shall we say, on al Nina. So there
- 28:51Speaker 6: are some differences, speculations. Nothing is set in stone. This
- 28:56Speaker 6: is not a guarantee that we're going to have a
- 28:57Speaker 6: deluge of water for the next year. I mean, that's
- 29:00Speaker 6: just not what it means. Scientific data says, hey, we
- 29:04Speaker 6: might have a wetter than normal, we could have more storms.
- 29:08Speaker 2: It could be just a lot of rain.
- 29:09Speaker 7: We all need to go out and build arcs. I
- 29:11Speaker 7: don't know, but I mean be prepared. The moral of
- 29:15Speaker 7: the story is every day you live in North Texas,

- 30:14Speaker 2: your house, or just from North Texas Weather which that'll
- 30:18Speaker 2: do it too. Eight three to three Cook DFW is

- 30:30Speaker 2: to you, no pressure, but outstanding service. In fact, for
- 30:35Speaker 2: those that don't know, they actually just received a Platinum
- 30:39Speaker 2: Preferred Contractor rating from Owen's Corning. Cook DFW Roofing and
- 30:43Speaker 2: Restoration just received the Platinum Preferred Contractor rating from Owen's Corning,
- 30:49Speaker 2: which is a big deal because Owen's Corning, like even
- 30:52Speaker 2: Daniel Cook, we posted this on their social the other day.
- 30:55Speaker 2: It's not about just throwing up roofs on people's houses.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Then the peak panther gives you a thumbs up. It's
- 31:00Speaker 2: actually the Owens Corning people follow up with their preferred contractors,
- 31:05Speaker 2: follow up at their customers to see did they do
- 31:07Speaker 2: the job properly, everything installed, was it done in a
- 31:10Speaker 2: timely manner? Was it all done the right way? And
- 31:14Speaker 2: they have to hit some other parameters and if they
- 31:17Speaker 2: do that for a long enough time they are given
- 31:20Speaker 2: platinum status. Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration got that recently,
- 31:25Speaker 2: so you want a great roof for a three to
- 31:26Speaker 2: three Cook df W is the phone number all right
- 31:29Speaker 2: back inside the treehouse, Dan, Trey, Jerry. Usually this is
- 31:32Speaker 2: the part where we would do birthdays. I'll kind of
- 31:35Speaker 2: put that on the shelf for a moment because we're
- 31:37Speaker 2: kind of caught up in Avengers Doomsday stuff, and Trey,
- 31:40Speaker 2: you asked a really good question during that break, which.
- 31:44Speaker 1: What are the what is the what are the essential viewing?
- 31:49Speaker 1: What are the essential movies you need to watch to
- 31:53Speaker 1: get ready for doomsday? Obviously endgame right.
- 32:00Speaker 4: If it were me, I would do a little mini
- 32:02Speaker 4: marathon watch all of the Avenger movies, the first four
- 32:09Speaker 4: Loki seasons one and two. Uh, Doctor Strange, the Multiverse
- 32:14Speaker 4: of Madness, Fantastic four, so you know who they are.
- 32:19Speaker 3: That was another stinker, Yeah, that one.
- 32:23Speaker 2: That one was man oh Multiverse of Madness. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 2: that that was one of those. It had some really
- 32:29Speaker 2: great moments, especially when they go to the other universe
- 32:32Speaker 2: and you've got John Krazinski as you know Stretch from
- 32:34Speaker 2: Fantastic Four. You get that, Yeah, and then you get
- 32:40Speaker 2: that flip around stuff and then she comes and kills her.
- 32:43Speaker 2: That whole scene was phenomenal, but the whole movie felt rushed.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Also, sorry, watch uh Wolverine and Deadpool and uh the
- 32:55Speaker 4: original X Men series just so you understand who you're
- 33:00Speaker 4: looking at im. You can watch Days of Future Past too.
- 33:02Speaker 4: I don't know if any of them are actually going
- 33:04Speaker 4: to be involved in it. I think just the original
- 33:05Speaker 4: X Men cast, which.
- 33:06Speaker 1: One is the horrible one of the X Men?
- 33:11Speaker 2: Oh, lot of the origin movies.
- 33:14Speaker 1: What's the one where where it's like a pyramid, It's
- 33:18Speaker 1: it's just it's awful. The rest of them, I like that.
- 33:21Speaker 1: There's one that is just awful. I think it was
- 33:25Speaker 1: the last one they did.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Oh you're talking about Apocalypse X Men. Yes, Oh that
- 33:33Speaker 2: was just atrocious. Yeah. I think that was one where
- 33:37Speaker 2: Olivia Munn, who was in that Jerry what was her
- 33:42Speaker 2: character's name by Stake? No, no, no, not mistique. Olivia
- 33:46Speaker 2: Munn was the one that had the double katana swords
- 33:48Speaker 2: and the thigh highs. Oh oh yes me anyway, see
- 33:56Speaker 2: what I mean, there's so many character names. She even
- 33:58Speaker 2: when it came out and said that Brian and Singer,
- 34:00Speaker 2: the director of X Men Apocalypse. She came out and
- 34:03Speaker 2: said later on she was like, that dude totally mailed
- 34:05Speaker 2: it in. She was like, he was like he was
- 34:07Speaker 2: barely paying attention on set and he was just silo,
- 34:11Speaker 2: siloc thank you. Okay. I did a quick look as well.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I saw someone post I think it was on threads.
- 34:18Speaker 2: You know, hey, what should I watch in preparation for Doomsday?
- 34:23Speaker 2: And a comic book? Nerd got in the comments and
- 34:26Speaker 2: was actually very nice about it, which everyone said, thank
- 34:28Speaker 2: you for not being a comic birden a comic book
- 34:32Speaker 2: Meani and being nice about it and just being like, yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 2: here's your explanation, here's what you need to know. They
- 34:38Speaker 2: said the same thing you did. Jerry Loki seasons one
- 34:42Speaker 2: and two, which honestly, that was one of those things.
- 34:45Speaker 2: When season one came out, I watched it as it
- 34:47Speaker 2: came out. My expectations were pretty low, but they didn't
- 34:49Speaker 2: have anything else out at the time. I was going
- 34:52Speaker 2: I needed something to watch at the gym. I loved those.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I loved those. I love that show. Those two seasons
- 34:59Speaker 2: of Loki I thought were so great. I'll forever love
- 35:02Speaker 2: the day when we got Alligator Loki. That was what
- 35:10Speaker 2: I was just like, Oh so yeah, Loki's Loki wanted
- 35:14Speaker 2: to fantastic fo you kind of have to know for
- 35:17Speaker 2: that universe. The Doctor Strange thing, Dead Pull and Wolverine
- 35:22Speaker 2: was also mentioned in one of the lists that I
- 35:24Speaker 2: saw just now, and what the guy said on Threads
- 35:29Speaker 2: Infinity War if you need a refresher, and then obviously
- 35:31Speaker 2: the new in game. Most of that stuff should get
- 35:34Speaker 2: you out now. Also, you can go and watch Shang
- 35:36Speaker 2: Chi because Shang Che's a character in this like Taylor
- 35:40Speaker 2: in the In the trailer, he's fighting Gambit, and Gambit
- 35:43Speaker 2: was introduced through Dead Pull and Wolverine.
- 35:46Speaker 1: And I'm sure the the new No Way Home Spider
- 35:50Speaker 1: Man movie is going to be required as well.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was interesting watching this trailer for Doomsday
- 35:57Speaker 2: and seeing the people that were in it. But what's
- 36:00Speaker 2: just as interesting are the people you don't see in it,
- 36:03Speaker 2: Like where is Spider Man in this one? What about
- 36:07Speaker 2: you know? Is you know, is Frank Castle's Punisher going
- 36:10Speaker 2: to be in there at all? Even though it doesn't
- 36:11Speaker 2: seem like he would because it'd be like I think
- 36:13Speaker 2: he'd be like just blinked out of existence. Uh, where's
- 36:16Speaker 2: the Hult, Where's the Hulk? He's in He's in the
- 36:19Speaker 2: New Spider Man movie, but we don't see him in
- 36:21Speaker 2: this trailer. So there's lots of characters that you don't
- 36:24Speaker 2: see in the Doomsday trailer. But that doesn't mean na
- 36:27Speaker 2: ain't in it.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Ruffalo's name was on one of the chairs and that
- 36:30Speaker 4: long thing there, so he's he's got to be in
- 36:33Speaker 4: it somewhere.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, at this point, I think we all
- 36:35Speaker 2: you know, like you know how you play six degrees
- 36:37Speaker 2: at Kevin Bacon with movies and actors. The Marvel Cinematic
- 36:42Speaker 2: Universe has made that game so easy.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Well, they're also very good at they think you think
- 36:49Speaker 1: they're giving you a lot, but they always keep something hidden,
- 36:53Speaker 1: and you know there'll be another trailer that they'll you know,
- 36:56Speaker 1: let out a little bit more. And I would be
- 36:58Speaker 1: willing to bet there's going to be some surprise appearances
- 37:00Speaker 1: that you didn't expect.
- 37:02Speaker 3: H Scarlett, which being one of them.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I'll be very curious if they they said they weren't
- 37:09Speaker 1: going to resurrect her, but then I have read that
- 37:11Speaker 1: yeah they will.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I think they will. Yeah, And that's you bring that up.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Her along with doctor Strange. I don't remember seeing either
- 37:19Speaker 2: of them in the trailer unless they were somehow fuzzy
- 37:21Speaker 2: in a background or something. So yeah, I mean, look,
- 37:25Speaker 2: they called it the first trailer, and in essence, this
- 37:27Speaker 2: to me was just a it's a teaser trailer. Really.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I mean there's there's clues and stuff in there, but
- 37:32Speaker 2: I mean it's it's sort of like a setup trailer
- 37:35Speaker 2: for another trailer that you know is going to come. Right. Ah, Sure,
- 37:42Speaker 2: am excited if I may quote, if I may quote
- 37:44Speaker 2: one of my favorite movie characters of all time, cousin
- 37:47Speaker 2: Eddie from Christmas Vacation. I'm excited about it too, Clark.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Uh, one quick little thing before we move on that
- 37:55Speaker 4: I would like to point out. Please, Uh you can
- 37:58Speaker 4: play six degrees from Jerry Caldwell with the Marvel Universe. Okay,
- 38:06Speaker 4: tell us how in Quantum Mania there was a character
- 38:14Speaker 4: named Klaus. He was the freedom Fighter. He was played
- 38:19Speaker 4: by a gentleman named William Jackson Harper. William Jackson Harper
- 38:24Speaker 4: used to work at the Half Priced Books on Northwest
- 38:28Speaker 4: Highway with one Jerry Caldwell. I have pictures of him
- 38:33Speaker 4: in my backyard of my thirtieth birthday.
- 38:37Speaker 2: That has got to be the least cool game of
- 38:40Speaker 2: six degrees of separation I have ever experienced. He used
- 38:44Speaker 2: to take a lot more steps to get me there,
- 38:46Speaker 2: but I've got that one, especially with you flipping your hair,
- 38:52Speaker 2: knowing that a bridge from the Treehouse Show into the
- 38:57Speaker 2: Marvel Cinematic Universe is the half priced books on Northwest
- 39:02Speaker 2: Highway and a flip of your golden locks makes me
- 39:05Speaker 2: want to leave. I prefer my version of events, which
- 39:12Speaker 2: would go like this. We inside the Treehouse are good
- 39:16Speaker 2: friends with Tone Bell, who is an actual actor in
- 39:20Speaker 2: Hollywood who's been in other projects with a number of
- 39:23Speaker 2: these other characters, and these other actors, one of which
- 39:27Speaker 2: is Jessica Alba, who was the original Sioux Storm in
- 39:31Speaker 2: the MCU. And if I had more time to think
- 39:33Speaker 2: about it, I'm sure I could pick through a number
- 39:35Speaker 2: of other people he has worked with to get us
- 39:38Speaker 2: into the MCU in a much.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Cooler and you have to Jessica Albo, Chris Evans, and
- 39:42Speaker 1: then Darry right there.
- 39:44Speaker 2: But I'm willing to bet because he's done enough with
- 39:47Speaker 2: so many people. If I was to go through sort
- 39:49Speaker 2: of his filmography, I bet I could find someone he's
- 39:51Speaker 2: been in something with that is probably also in the MCU. Okay,
- 39:57Speaker 2: no offense, Jerry, I love half price books.
- 40:00Speaker 3: No you, Jerry, that full offense.
- 40:07Speaker 2: It is cool though that that is your journey to
- 40:09Speaker 2: the MCU. I I hope someday that you get to
- 40:15Speaker 2: play some sort of like a stunt double for Thor's
- 40:19Speaker 2: third cousin Sign me Up, I'm here, or maybe like
- 40:26Speaker 2: the little Jello guy from Quantumnia, which I actually thought.
- 40:32Speaker 2: I didn't hate that movie.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Just take Auto Mania, yeah, which the ant Man or.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yeah, the ant Man question.
- 40:41Speaker 1: I didn't hate it.
- 40:43Speaker 3: It was it was about what I expected.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, yeah exactly.
- 40:48Speaker 1: And there was also there's one thing we all have
- 40:51Speaker 1: to give them, got them a little slack is you
- 40:53Speaker 1: had COVID in between all of that, which it screwed
- 40:56Speaker 1: up production on everything and something's got rushed and weren't
- 41:00Speaker 1: the quality you would have expected.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Secret Wars cough. My brain doesn't have room to start
- 41:08Speaker 2: analyzing anything with that. All right. Today is Thursday, July
- 41:15Speaker 2: twenty third, twenty twenty six. Let's celebrate today with some birthdays,
- 41:26Speaker 2: starting with Daniel Radcliffe, the star of his own movie franchise,
- 41:31Speaker 2: Universe Forever known as Harry Potter. He is thirty seven today,
- 41:36Speaker 2: So this is your moment of the week to feel
- 41:39Speaker 2: really effing old. Harry Potter is thirty seven today, which,
- 41:46Speaker 2: by the way, he was a highlight to me in
- 41:51Speaker 2: I can't remember the name of the movie, but it
- 41:52Speaker 2: was with Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock where she's like
- 41:56Speaker 2: an author. They have to go and do some adventure
- 41:58Speaker 2: thing and Daniel Radcliffe plays the bad guy. It was.
- 42:02Speaker 2: He was really good in that. It's fun. Woody Harrelson
- 42:06Speaker 2: is sixty five today. Woody from Cheers is sixty five.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Going back as I've done and rewatching Cheers. Seeing all
- 42:17Speaker 2: the talented cast members on that show, I never would
- 42:21Speaker 2: have thought that Woody would have been one of the
- 42:24Speaker 2: breakout stars from it. It just seemed like such a
- 42:27Speaker 2: one note, dumb character from Indiana. But by god, he's
- 42:31Speaker 2: the one that arguably blew up the most.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I was about to say, I don't think you can
- 42:35Speaker 1: argue that he was the biggest star come out of that.
- 42:38Speaker 2: I mean for a very short period of time. You know,
- 42:42Speaker 2: Kirsty Ally was pretty big for a few minutes.
- 42:45Speaker 4: With not with with with Look who's talking one and two.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I mean ted Danson never. I mean, it took him
- 42:56Speaker 1: years to have something else he had.
- 43:00Speaker 2: He had three men and a baby, and that's.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Really but I think that was wasn't that during Cheers?
- 43:05Speaker 2: I think that was during Cheers? Yeah, So you're right. Actually,
- 43:09Speaker 2: of all those talented people on that cast, I think
- 43:12Speaker 2: it really was Woody Harrelson's one that came out most ahead.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Ted Danson also was in The Good Place.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Oh, which is a fantastic show.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Starring next to William Jackson herper as cheaty. Uh, who
- 43:28Speaker 4: you worked with at Half Price Books? And I know,
- 43:33Speaker 4: I take it back that is now my favorite connection
- 43:36Speaker 4: for for the Treehouse to Hollywood is through you, Jerry
- 43:40Speaker 4: and Half Price Books.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And after The Good Place, he's done another series with
- 43:44Speaker 1: Mike Sure on Netflix and I'm drawing a blank on
- 43:47Speaker 1: the name, but it's also it's pretty good.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Uh. And he was on CSI for a while. Oh,
- 43:51Speaker 2: that's right, Yeah, but he had that gap in there,
- 43:53Speaker 2: you right. I mean as far as everyone, yeah, but
- 43:55Speaker 2: as far as everyone, it really was what Woody Harrelson
- 43:58Speaker 2: is the one that's had the biggest career out of
- 43:59Speaker 2: every one coming out of the regular cast on Cheers,
- 44:02Speaker 2: so happy birthday to him. This is a big birthday.
- 44:05Speaker 2: You talk about pop culture nineties references, there are not
- 44:11Speaker 2: big There are not many bigger names than Monica Lewinsky.
- 44:16Speaker 2: And she is fifty three today. I mean that's a
- 44:20Speaker 2: name where you say it, you know exactly what happened,
- 44:23Speaker 2: you know what time, you kind of know where you
- 44:26Speaker 2: were when all that was going down. And yeah, she's
- 44:31Speaker 2: fifty three today. Blue dress and that blue dress, and.
- 44:37Speaker 1: What I marvel about is and you know, at the
- 44:40Speaker 1: time that was such a big deal. And now looking back,
- 44:44Speaker 1: you're like, Man, wouldn't that be nice if that was
- 44:47Speaker 1: our only problem?
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yes, it really would be. I mean that's all those days.
- 44:51Speaker 2: That's how good we had it in the nineties. Uh
- 44:54Speaker 2: And and honestly, that's also how good we had it
- 44:58Speaker 2: on Saturday Night Live when they were making fun of it,
- 45:00Speaker 2: because that's because when they started making fun of the
- 45:03Speaker 2: whole Monica Lewinsky, Bill Clinton White House situation, that's what
- 45:09Speaker 2: gave us John Goodman as Linda Trip. Oh yeah, I
- 45:18Speaker 2: remember that. Oh that was so good talking about Well
- 45:23Speaker 2: do you have any evidence of this mistrip? I have
- 45:25Speaker 2: address covered in evidence. I'm sorry, just whenever that's this
- 45:34Speaker 2: is what happens, you know, in my brain, you get
- 45:36Speaker 2: that association. And when I think of Monica Lewinsky, I
- 45:38Speaker 2: think of Saturday Night Live, and I think of John
- 45:40Speaker 2: Goodman as Linda Tripp.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And one of the all time great photos, great presidential
- 45:46Speaker 1: photos is the Clinton's getting out of Marine one and
- 45:51Speaker 1: at Hillary and Chelsea and the dog and Bill Clinton
- 45:55Speaker 1: is behind them because no.
- 45:57Speaker 2: One will talk to him, even the dog.
- 46:01Speaker 3: And the dog is like screwed.
- 46:04Speaker 2: But that was an uncomfortable chopper, right, Oh god? All right?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Other birthdays today. Catherine Hahn is fifty three. She is
- 46:11Speaker 2: an Emmy nominated actress known for Wan Division, which, by
- 46:16Speaker 2: the way, we're talking a lot about Marvel stuff on here,
- 46:18Speaker 2: and I think it's worthy. She was also in Agatha
- 46:22Speaker 2: All Along. Her character was so good. She did such
- 46:25Speaker 2: a great job in wand Division that they're like, we
- 46:28Speaker 2: need to spin off. I have not yet seen Agatha
- 46:30Speaker 2: All Along, but I want to. It's good, Jerry, is
- 46:32Speaker 2: it really good? Okay, it.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Does a big pivot in the middle of the season
- 46:37Speaker 4: and they did it really well.
- 46:39Speaker 2: It's it's it's pretty good. Catherine Han, I think is
- 46:43Speaker 2: one of my I hadn't really thought about it till
- 46:45Speaker 2: right now. I think she's one of my underrated best actresses.
- 46:49Speaker 2: She can do damn near anything.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yeah, in Bad Moms one and two. I think she's hysterical.
- 46:57Speaker 2: She was great in WandaVision and Wanda Vision was one
- 47:00Speaker 2: of the sort of those off projects that Marvel did.
- 47:05Speaker 2: I have not gone back to rewatch it, but as
- 47:08Speaker 2: I was watching it and thinking back on it, I
- 47:11Speaker 2: actually kind of loved it. I think it was so
- 47:14Speaker 2: it was such a different, smart, cool thing, like dealing
- 47:17Speaker 2: with her grief and she's going through these different eras
- 47:20Speaker 2: as if they're a television show. That was that to
- 47:23Speaker 2: me was a fun swing. That was Marvel taking a chance.
- 47:26Speaker 2: And you know, I'm sure not everyone loved it, but
- 47:28Speaker 2: I think it landed too. I enjoyed it.
- 47:32Speaker 3: I enjoyed it.
- 47:32Speaker 1: I thought it got a little campy towards the end,
- 47:36Speaker 1: but all in all, yeah, I thought it was good
- 47:40Speaker 1: and I'd watch it again. If you said, hey, there's
- 47:43Speaker 1: some nuggets in there you really have to see for doomsday, Yeah,
- 47:48Speaker 1: I get back and watch it.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Because where is he? Where is White Vision? That's that's
- 47:59Speaker 4: the MC name for him.
- 48:02Speaker 3: It was just Vision.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Well, at the end of Wanda Vision, it's actually it's
- 48:07Speaker 2: it's it's al By no Vision a Vision. Is he
- 48:12Speaker 2: going to be pink Eye Vision? That would be creepy.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Uh yeah, that. But the other part of WandaVision that
- 48:20Speaker 2: was cool was, uh you get her brother that had
- 48:25Speaker 2: died reintroduced to her in that show, right, But it
- 48:30Speaker 2: wasn't the Aaron Taylor Johnson speedster that was her brother
- 48:33Speaker 2: from Ultron, but it was that it was the X
- 48:36Speaker 2: Men Days of Future Past, uh Speedster Evan Peters as
- 48:43Speaker 2: her brother. So that was when I think we had
- 48:44Speaker 2: our first uh x Men and scissoring happening, you.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Know, And they've never they have not confirmed that, but
- 48:56Speaker 4: they also have not denied it either.
- 48:58Speaker 2: So that's why Philip Seymour Hoffman would have been fifty
- 49:03Speaker 2: nine today. That is the guy that is That is
- 49:06Speaker 2: again you talk about phenomenal actors. I loved him. I
- 49:10Speaker 2: thought he was so good. One of my favorite roles
- 49:13Speaker 2: of his, and I think it might have been one
- 49:14Speaker 2: of his first film roles, was as Dusty in the
- 49:18Speaker 2: first Twister movie. Yes Love That Slash is sixty one today,
- 49:27Speaker 2: guitarist from g.
- 49:28Speaker 1: It's one of the few times, I'll say this, he's
- 49:30Speaker 1: only sixty one.
- 49:32Speaker 4: I had the same thought. Brother, I'm right there with you.
- 49:36Speaker 4: I thought he was way older.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's about it.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Karl Malone sixty three, the Mailman, one of the guys
- 49:45Speaker 4: that really, really, really He and John Stockton.
- 49:49Speaker 2: You talk about playing in the wrong era. Those two guys.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Those Utah Jazz teams deserved a title, but they just
- 49:58Speaker 2: couldn't get it there. And but I mean, you know,
- 50:01Speaker 2: the Bulls and Michael Jordan were in their way for
- 50:04Speaker 2: some of that, so mm hm.
- 50:06Speaker 3: And the Pistons, Yeah, that's.
- 50:08Speaker 2: And the Pistons. Yeah, And ultimately they didn't win, not
- 50:13Speaker 2: because they weren't great, they were just out gunned. I mean,
- 50:16Speaker 2: the Utah Jazz had Karl Malone and John Stockton, the
- 50:18Speaker 2: Bulls had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and like four other people,
- 50:23Speaker 2: and then the Pistons were just stacked top to bottom.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Did Malone play for the Knicks before or after he
- 50:31Speaker 1: was in.
- 50:35Speaker 2: I honestly don't recall him playing for another I thought
- 50:38Speaker 2: he played for the Knicks.
- 50:38Speaker 3: It doesn't matter, but yeah, it's stop.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I mean, they both were great players, but just you
- 50:44Speaker 1: happen to run across a couple of players that were
- 50:47Speaker 1: way better.
- 50:53Speaker 2: That's pretty much it. And oh but this this one's
- 50:55Speaker 2: an interesting just just because we mentioned it somewhat earlier.
- 50:58Speaker 2: With old old timey things. This is a birthday deep cut.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Julius Caesar would have been two twenty six today, but
- 51:06Speaker 2: he got stabbed a hell of a lot of times
- 51:08Speaker 2: at work one day. This segment of the Treehouse is

- 51:45Speaker 1: Right hey, before we go, because we'll forget about it.
- 51:49Speaker 1: You said you saw the Odyssey. Yes, thoughts, many, many, many,
- 51:57Speaker 1: many thoughts.
- 51:58Speaker 3: I have heard.
- 51:59Speaker 1: What I have read and I have from people is
- 52:02Speaker 1: visually stunning epic, Yes, but story was crappy.
- 52:12Speaker 2: It's homer.
- 52:15Speaker 1: A lot of people question whether Christopher Nolan even read it.
- 52:20Speaker 4: So so here was my takeaway, and this and this
- 52:23Speaker 4: was this was my wife's take as well.
- 52:25Speaker 2: It was interesting because usually the way what happens is
- 52:28Speaker 2: we'll go see a movie, especially if it's a big movie.
- 52:30Speaker 2: We'll go see a movie, we leave the theater, go
- 52:33Speaker 2: to the bathroom, and then maybe go somewhere and get
- 52:36Speaker 2: a drink or a snack, and then we'll talk about
- 52:38Speaker 2: what we saw. If it was a big movie, a
- 52:40Speaker 2: big enough movie to do it. This is one of
- 52:42Speaker 2: those movies where we did that. My wife and I
- 52:45Speaker 2: had the same take, which was really really good, but
- 52:51Speaker 2: it didn't wow us. Now, many people that have seen
- 52:55Speaker 2: The Odyssey left the theater wowed. I have seen comments
- 52:59Speaker 2: and reviews. I've I've heard some people say, oh my god,
- 53:01Speaker 2: that's the best movie I've ever seen before. So we
- 53:05Speaker 2: saw it on Sunday afternoon, and before we went into
- 53:08Speaker 2: the theater. On Rotten Tomatoes it was ninety five and
- 53:10Speaker 2: ninety seven. I don't know if I've ever seen a
- 53:12Speaker 2: movie with those high numbers after it's been released. So
- 53:18Speaker 2: I think to a certain degree, we may have had
- 53:22Speaker 2: some really high expectations based on a lot of the
- 53:25Speaker 2: stuff we saw before seeing the movie, that is a possibility.
- 53:30Speaker 2: That being said, it is definitely a visually stunning movie.
- 53:38Speaker 2: It hold like I think a lot of times in Hollywood,
- 53:41Speaker 2: the word epic gets thrown around too much. This is
- 53:45Speaker 2: a Hollywood epic. But I still left a little underwhelmed.
- 53:55Speaker 2: It was great and this is an interesting so my
- 53:59Speaker 2: separate from my wife, my overall takeaway was it is
- 54:03Speaker 2: a phenomenal film, but I was a little underwhelmed, if
- 54:09Speaker 2: that makes sense, because I can see a move and
- 54:11Speaker 2: be like, yeah, I can see why this is magnificent.
- 54:14Speaker 2: But there were a few things where I was like,
- 54:17Speaker 2: why where do you think it deflated?
- 54:20Speaker 3: Where?
- 54:22Speaker 2: So a couple things. I still don't know why it
- 54:28Speaker 2: is telemicus Tom Holland's character, Why is he calling the
- 54:32Speaker 2: dad he's never met dad? It just it sticks out
- 54:35Speaker 2: like a weird hangnail. Why is he calling his mom mom?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Why is he calling his dad dad? Like and to me,
- 54:43Speaker 2: in a formal type of time, things are long ago,
- 54:48Speaker 2: it would have sounded more natural if he's like, I
- 54:50Speaker 2: don't know my father, as opposed to I don't know
- 54:53Speaker 2: my dad. That just seems weird to me. But I
- 54:56Speaker 2: think one of the biggest things was there's not a
- 55:00Speaker 2: lot of logic in the film, and it's and some
- 55:03Speaker 2: of this is going to go back to home or
- 55:04Speaker 2: the source material. So after they leave Troy and they
- 55:08Speaker 2: get on their ships to go home, instead of going
- 55:11Speaker 2: home the known way, they're like, you know what, let's
- 55:14Speaker 2: go this other direction away from everybody else. We'll just
- 55:18Speaker 2: pop on the land and provision as we go. And
- 55:21Speaker 2: then after the second time you do that where you
- 55:25Speaker 2: pop on the land and some really bad shit happened,
- 55:28Speaker 2: maybe stop doing that, right, keep doing it. It's it's
- 55:32Speaker 2: it's I think part of it is it's like it's
- 55:35Speaker 2: it's sort of a story of a number of follies
- 55:39Speaker 2: in a row where I'm just kind of like, oh,
- 55:40Speaker 2: come on now. So that's where I didn't love it. Well.
- 55:45Speaker 1: One of the things, i mean, one person said it
- 55:48Speaker 1: and it sounded right on from all the other reviews
- 55:54Speaker 1: I've read is Christopher Nolan said it's an epic visually
- 55:58Speaker 1: visual movie, but he was so well, so in love
- 56:00Speaker 1: with that part of it that he did not focus
- 56:03Speaker 1: as much on script and continuity as he could have.
- 56:06Speaker 1: And there are some gaps in there that make it
- 56:11Speaker 1: not not a great movie overall, is what.
- 56:18Speaker 2: Okay, Jerry, Jerry, have you seen it? I have not. Yeah,
- 56:21Speaker 2: So where we are right now, we're in Brighton, Michigan.
- 56:24Speaker 2: The closest Imax theater is in an arbor that's like
- 56:28Speaker 2: thirty forty minutes away, so we just elected to see
- 56:31Speaker 2: it on a normal theater. I mean, it's still great
- 56:34Speaker 2: sound and stuff, but so we didn't see the Imax version.
- 56:37Speaker 2: So if you've seen a lot of the Odyssey content
- 56:40Speaker 2: online like we have, you can see a very clear
- 56:44Speaker 2: visual difference in the Imax version versus regular thirty five millimeter.
- 56:49Speaker 2: And because we've done we've ingested a lot of this
- 56:52Speaker 2: Odyssey content. This is the first movie that's ever been
- 56:57Speaker 2: shot and from beginning to end and its entirety on
- 57:02Speaker 2: Imax film. Uh, And that's a huge that's a huge
- 57:06Speaker 2: process and it's really interesting how they did that. And
- 57:09Speaker 2: Trey kind of like what you were saying, maybe maybe
- 57:11Speaker 2: there was some on Christopher Nolan's part, so obsessed with
- 57:16Speaker 2: the mechanics and the visuals of the film that some
- 57:21Speaker 2: of the story and the dialogue to me felt a
- 57:24Speaker 2: little Yeah. So yeah, I mean, it's absolutely worth it
- 57:31Speaker 2: to go see it though, and it's I mean, I
- 57:33Speaker 2: think it made all of its money back in one weekend.
- 57:36Speaker 2: So and and and the other thing I'll throw in
- 57:40Speaker 2: is this, there's a reason why people don't typically do
- 57:47Speaker 2: the Odyssey because it's so long, there's so much in it.
- 57:53Speaker 2: The fact that he was able to do it in
- 57:55Speaker 2: just under three hours is somewhat of an accomplishment.
- 57:59Speaker 3: It's considered it, right.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's also part two. Yeah. And that's the
- 58:05Speaker 2: other thing too, because it didn't even include the entirety
- 58:07Speaker 2: of the Trojan War because you get all these flashbacks
- 58:12Speaker 2: and things that they're doing in the film. So technically
- 58:14Speaker 2: this film takes place over a twenty year period, but
- 58:18Speaker 2: I recommend going see it absolutely. All Right, let's jump
- 58:22Speaker 2: into some birthdays, or not birthdays. You've already done plenty
- 58:24Speaker 2: of birthdays. Let's jump into some stories that we did
- 58:27Speaker 2: not get to this week. So we've had a jam
- 58:30Speaker 2: packed treehouse this week as far as all sorts of
- 58:32Speaker 2: things to talk about and laugh about. There have been
- 58:34Speaker 2: a handful of news stories though we have not had
- 58:36Speaker 2: a chance to play with yet. So we're going to
- 58:38Speaker 2: do that right now, starting with the turf War in
- 58:42Speaker 2: New Jersey. Oh dear God, New Jersey lawmakers want to
- 58:50Speaker 2: impose a restraining order on FIFA for selling its World
- 58:55Speaker 2: Cup grass. FIFA is an organization that is never going
- 58:59Speaker 2: to miss an opportunity to make a few bucks, and
- 59:03Speaker 2: that includes.
- 59:04Speaker 1: So they don't make just a few bucks, they don't
- 59:07Speaker 1: miss an opportunity to make millions.
- 59:09Speaker 2: This is true and almost a literal last ditch effort
- 59:15Speaker 2: to make even more money on the World Cup, FIFA
- 59:18Speaker 2: has been cutting sections of the turf in New Jersey
- 59:23Speaker 2: where the where the final match was played and selling
- 59:26Speaker 2: them online for four hundred and fifty bucks a pop.
- 59:30Speaker 2: And because of that, the state of New Jersey is saying, ah,
- 59:35Speaker 2: that's our grass, and FIFA is saying, no, it's our grass.
- 59:39Speaker 3: You better read the contract. I promise you it's FIFA's
- 59:42Speaker 3: grass much much like it. You know.
- 59:47Speaker 1: It's like when they covered up the names of stadiums
- 59:49Speaker 1: when AT and T Stadium became Dallas Stadium. There are
- 59:53Speaker 1: some people who are like, well, how does a because
- 59:56Speaker 1: this was already you know, written in If AT and
- 59:59Speaker 1: T wanted to, they could have been a sponsor if
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: they wanted to pay the billions or hundreds of millions
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: of dollars, but they didn't.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: So yep, and Trey, You're right, I believe there is.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: There is kind of a smaller f in FIFA that
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: stands for fine print.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Oh, I mean said FIFA is known as the most
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: corrupt organization.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Yes there is, and.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I mean look at the last World Cup was in Qatar.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: They literally lost over five there were five thousand I'm
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: talking about because current slavery does still exist.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: And Qatar is a great example of it.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: There was over five thousand people died and just building
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: the facilities for that last one. But hats off to
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: America though, record setting World Cup and they most people
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: really believe that for the first time ever, we will
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: host it again in twenty thirty eight, which no country
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: has ever done because it was such a success.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yeah really in this time.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Good job everybody, Fuck Mexico and Canada.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Keep it all in the United States because that's the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: thing people don't realize is, you know, all these other
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: places have to build stadiums.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: The country is already big enough.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Man, Well, well we know, but you think we didn't
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: use a twentieth of the stadiums that you could possibly use.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying our country is already so big
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: we didn't need to go into the others.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Texas alone pretty much has the enough stadiums to do
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: the World Cup.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: You know, that's a great idea. I would love to
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: see Spain and Senegal play a match at Permian Stadium.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: But you have you're okay, Royal Memorial Stadium, you have
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Kyle Field, you have Houston. Hell, you have the Wake
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: of the Baylor Stadium.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: It's not flood Casey anymore.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Yeah, No, you're right, Texas could do the World Cup
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: on its own.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so, you know, hopefully, And for everything I've read,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: most people said of the United States facilities, Dallas was
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: the best one.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: So maybe next time we'll get the championship game.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: That'd be sweet. So good job America. And on a
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: more local level, good job Jerry Jones and the voters
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: of Arlington, which includes me from way back when I
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: helped to approve that stadium.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Me I helped, oh and talk about everything done right.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I mean, I think they're five years ahead on the
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: bond repayment and they said the US got a surplus
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: or like may twenty billion on.
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: The the event.
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: So yeah, good on everybody, and we got some good
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: advertising worldwide.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Oh great, great advertising worldwide.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: And soccer will be big again in America for a while,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: which is also a good thing. Okay, so we've heard
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: stories recently about how Gen Z aren't the drinkers that
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: we are Gen X boomers.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: And for the record, someone has said, now they really are.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: The person who's worked in bars said yeah, I said, no,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: that's that's really.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Not because I keep seeing the same study boomerang around
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: social media where it says gen Z is falling far
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: behind alcohol consumption compared to its you know, previous generations
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: like Millennials, Boomers and Gen X. But like Trey is
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: making the face right now, it's like, yeah, but I'm
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: in bars quite a bit. They're still drinking well.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And I mean millennials and Gen x's quite the drinkers,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: so that that's just if they fall off a little bit,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: that doesn't mean they're not drinking a lot.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: I know the Millennials are drinkers. Yeah, yeah, gen X
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: is for sure.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: But now this there, now there's some new information coming
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: out that it's actually the boomers, not Gen Z, that
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: are the generation cutting back most on alcohol. New research
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: overturns the assumption that abstinate younger drinkers are behind weak demanded.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: They're saying it's seventy one percent of boomers born between
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: nineteen forty six and nineteen sixty four consumed alcohol in
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: the past six months, the lowest drinking rate of any generation,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: and down two percentage points from three years ago. By contrast,
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: seventy four percent of Gen Z who are at the
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: legal drinking age, reported drinking in the past six months,
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: up from sixty six percent three years ago.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: Yeah, could this statistic be because the boomers are getting old?
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I mean, the boomers are getting old.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: But the other thing that really people have not factored
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: into all these drinking numbers that come out. It's COVID
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: alcohol sales. Although bars were closed, alcohol sales went through
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the roof during COVID and they started coming back down
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: to a normal level. Bar sales in general have been
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: really good. You can look at the numbers and a
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: lot of bars have had record years in the last year. So, yeah,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: a lot of it is the boomers are getting older
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and they're starting to figure out they're getting heating. The
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: warnings of it doesn't help with aging. I mean, it
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: really meant especially mentally, it's not good for you.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: And I've always been of the mindset with with gen
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Z quote allegedly drinking less, it's like they'll catch up.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Just let them come across. Like I will say, I
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: see more gen Z people not drinking. And this is
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: just anecdotally just stuff I've seen. I do see on
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: occasion a gen Z person's like, yeah, I don't drink.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: It's like, okay, cool. But I still see plenty of
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: gen Z people that are that still remind me of
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: when I was that age, So I don't think that's yeah.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I also think here's the more interesting thing that I'm
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: sure someone will study. It will not surprise me one
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: bit if they say the biggest leap in cannabis use
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: is the boomers. Also, they're slowing down on drinking, but
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: they're finding.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: H yes, oh yes. If you want to find if
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: you want to find some common ground, if you want
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: to see where the Boomer VENN diagram intersects with the
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: gen Z is going to be over a bowl. All right.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: So while this study says it's boomers that are drinking less,
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: don't tell that to an eighty two year old grandma
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: who wants to have a law changed so she can
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: keep having happy hour at her care home. Grandmother of five,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Anita Lebrun has always loved a good glass of pinogriggio
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: and her family's tradition of kicking off five pm happy
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: hours at their lake house, and now she wants it
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: to be law that she's allowed to do it. She
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: couldn't believe it when she found out last year that
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: her Minnesota assisted living facility was prohibited from serving thanks
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: to residents because it didn't have a license. Already something
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: of a social butterfly, she agreed to become the face
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: and voice of a mission to change the law. After
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: testifying twice before the state legislature, she shared a toast
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: with Governor Tim Waltz this week for a ceremonial signing
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: of what's been nicknamed the Grandparents' Happy Hour Bill at
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: the very facility she calls home. Don't ever let someone
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: tell you you can't make change happen in your community.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Because almost every state has this ban, and so many
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: states in their next legislative session will see legislation come
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: through about changing this law.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Because yeahs as.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: The boomers are going to retirement centers, they're going to
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: want to change that, or they're gonna want to, or
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: they're going to make new retirement facilities, assisted living that
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: aren't run by the state and play in their own rules.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: Absolutely because and here's what's going to.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: It's the next business for the Indian Reservation to watch.
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: Ooh chick cass nursing homes. Mm hm, sign me up, brother,
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: because here's what I think is gonna happen. You have lady,
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: you have people.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: You have boomers like this eighty two year old granny
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: who's like, I want my happy hour at my nursing home,
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: and so she gets the law changed. So some boomers
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: are blazing a path on this. It's gonna it's gonna
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: turn into a wildfire when gen X starts making that
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: transition into some of these assisted living facilities, because we're
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: all gonna change the template. We've laughed about this over
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: the over the recent years about what gen X is
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: nursing homes are going to look like. I fully expect
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: them to have video game rooms and hell yes, a
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: bar and all these types of things. These are things
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: we don't just want, we will damn demand it because
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: at that point, man put me in the whole man
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: this sounds great, sounds like going back to college, and
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: I never really, I never had the dorm experience in college. Man,
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: give it to me when you know, when I'm pissing myself.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: They got what like twelve fifteen years before that that
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: transition starts, Yeah, maybe ten.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: So let them start getting these laws changed.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: So when it comes time for us to wheel ourselves
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: into the facility, we're not going to be so torn
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: up about it. We're going to be like, yeah, let's
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: go playing Marios smoking a blunt, got your glass of wine,
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: and Jerry.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: It's we are technically four years away from the first
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Gen xers being sixty five, so it's not a decade away.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: It's more five to seven years.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Yeah it's coming, Yeah, Yeah, it's coming. All right. The
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: body Wash heist for the century. I know the century
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: is early, but I feel confident in saying I don't
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: think we're going to hear a story quite like this
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: one until twenty two.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: This story was so gross I didn't even send it
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: to you, Daniel.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Do we lose you?
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: All right? Try to say that again, my internet hecta.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: This story was so gross. I saw it and I
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: didn't even send it to you. Because I was like you,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: I don't even I don't want to even think about
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: this again.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Do we need to catch Jerry up? Just yeah, I
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: think so? Okay, So I'll try to tell this briefly.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Earlier this week, Jerry, we read a story about a
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: young lady who was being romantic with her fella, and
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: her fella goes downstairs and he comes back up and says, ooh,
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: you've got cheese down there. Oh, and she had to.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Edit her post to say sorry, I didn't mean cheese,
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: I meant discharge.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: She said, English was not her first language. I'm going
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: to tell you this right now. If I ever go
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: to another country, I am not going to mess up
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: discharge with a food item. She did.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: I mean I understood what cheese meant in that particular instance.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Understand fully.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Now, we were big on mentioning while discussing that story
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: earlier this week that nine times out of ten you
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: eat cheese. This is that one time that you don't.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: That's right, So anyway, instead, now we get a story
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: out of Lakeland, I believe Lakeland, Florida.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: So on the heels of the girl whose boyfriend told
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: her you've got cheese down there we have a bizarre
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: body wash heist at a Walgreens in Lakeland, Florida. Hang
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: on one second. A forty seven year old man has
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: been arrested yet again after a body wash heist was
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: reported late last month. That's to the Polk County Sheriff's
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: Office and the illustrious state of Florida. In a release,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: deputy said the incident happened on June twenty ninth at
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: a Walgreens store along Lakeland Highlands Road. Upon arrival, deputies
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: learned that three suspects had entered the Walgreens together, with
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: one distracting the store clerk and the other two filled
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: bags with several containers of body wash. Of all the
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: things at a Walgreens, you can take, body wash is
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: an interesting choice.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Maybe one of the few left that's not behind lock.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Cabinets they are at mine? Are that the body washes? Yeah?
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Jesus, just just turn all the stores into just one
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: big lock box they are well, I mean, just one
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: big one, like just like pay a five dollars cover
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: to get in and then you just you can actually
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: just go in to shop for stuff.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: Just turn it into a vending machine. Yeah, basically afterward
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: The trio left the store together without paying for the
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: stolen items, which were valued at nearly six hundred and
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: fifty dollars. That's a lot of body wash. Upon review
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: of the surveillance footage, investigator said, they recognized one of
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: the female suspects. So you have three suspects in here
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: looking like ladies, but not so much. They recognized one
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: of these female suspects as forty seven year old Jerald Cobbs.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: They recognized him due to his extensive history of previous arrests.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: The release says Gerald is known to dress as a female.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: They say cobs here, but it's just funny to say Gerald.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Gerald is known to dress as a female. Further investigation
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: revealed that Gerald had recently been arrested by the Lakeland
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Police Department on an active warrant and was all ready
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: being held in the county jail. How convenient is that
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: you go and look at the surveillance footage of these
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: three dude ladies stealing body wash at Walgreens and one
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: of them's already in the clinker.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: I said, can I ask you a question?
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: You had? Another week one by Trey Treehouse salute to
