Malcolm Chapter 26 - Not at Church
In which Malcolm visits the somber village of Scaurnose on a Sunday morning, seeking news of the laird’s whereabouts from the reticent fisher-folk, and learns much of their simple customs and guarded secrets. Returning to Lossie House, he relates his nocturnal discoveries to the marquis, engaging in a thoughtful discourse on the nature of deformity, divine purpose, and the mysterious inequalities inherent in human life.
