- 0:00139 which is a new chapter, very important chapter just to close
- 0:04out the last few days or weeks is that he told us there's such
- 0:08a thing becoming a Hasid, actually months.
- 0:10So then you think me a Hasid, A Hasid is a person who is very
- 0:15dedicated in all areas of being a Jew and he can shoot 1.
- 0:19He could take one that you may want about the sale, about
- 0:22Hashem serving Hashem. One way or another.
- 0:25He dedicated and he said there are two things in person.
- 0:28He says no. Once they adopt that mindset #1
- 0:31they need to have the proper balance, which means you can't
- 0:33do anything that's dangerous, anything that's going to have a
- 0:35negative impact from the people around you just because you're
- 0:38trying to be heavily dedicated, to be careful, understood.
- 0:41And secondly, the only way to acquire that classy do to one of
- 0:45the main ways is to keep your mind clear.
- 0:49If your mind is healthy and clear, not worried, not nervous,
- 0:52not to involve luxuries as well. Yvonne is here and present, not
- 0:56looking for that because it's worry or looking for the other
- 0:58thing because he likes luxuries you like.
- 1:00Every day you're settled. Every day you have a far greater
- 1:04opportunity and ability to grow person who's grounded, a person
- 1:09who's not so worried equally also not so busy with luxuries
- 1:13and these things. So luxuries you can understand
- 1:16he's on to the next. He's always focusing on that and
- 1:18that takes him his dedication or you're from Jewish dedication
- 1:21because he's got luxury dedication right now.
- 1:24It comes to worries. We can understand as well.
- 1:26If his mind is busy with these nerves and these different
- 1:28concerns that he has, he cannot be present, he can't focus.
- 1:32And if we can't grow, so you need to have at its core and
- 1:35you're here, you're not looking to the next thing and you're not
- 1:38lacking something in your mind now, then you can become a
- 1:42person. And next step for a person and
- 1:46the bridge from one to the other, surprise him is medat
- 1:49anava. Medat anava is unity.
- 1:53Now, humility is the top character trait a person can
- 1:57have. We understand that.
- 1:59It's also one of the most misunderstood character traits.
- 2:03We understand that too. And why do I say it's
- 2:06misunderstood? Because as you'll see, you know,
- 2:08people, I know people who in their mind, they think the most
- 2:11humble person around, you know, we talk about good character
- 2:13traits. Everyone thinks in their mind
- 2:15that they check all the boxes. Everyone thinks that there's
- 2:18load of anger, that they're patient, that they're humble,
- 2:20that they're soft. You know, I happened to fight
- 2:22with so and so because they romed me and I've been to get
- 2:24angry all the time because people get me nervous all the
- 2:26time and all these different perspectives and I'm very
- 2:28humble. I just don't like when someone
- 2:29disrespects me, right, That's cool.
- 2:32In my humble opinion. Speaking of humble, that's
- 2:35cooled mine to have. You can't get eat it too.
- 2:37Exactly. That means you want to a person
- 2:40wants for others to be impressed by them, which is in a sense
- 2:43arrogance, but at the same time, he wants you mood.
- 2:45In fact, the greatest Val Gava, as we saw earlier in the book,
- 2:50the greatest, most arrogant person is the person who tries
- 2:55to create a humble image, which means the person walks head bend
- 2:59down and looks behind him to make sure everyone sees that.
- 3:01He walks head bend down. And he's really a slow key guy,
- 3:05that person trying to create a humble image.
- 3:07He's so arrogant that he even wants the credit for being
- 3:10humble. The father.
- 3:11The father goes, and it sounds so backward.
- 3:13You don't imagine such a person that exists like that.
- 3:15There are such people out there because every person at its
- 3:17core, no one's really arrogant, at least got people on the
- 3:20arrogant. What they are is they need to be
- 3:22relevant. And if you need to be relevant,
- 3:25often times rather than means everyone in the room knows your
- 3:28name and if they're impressed by you, you're more relevant.
- 3:31And if they're wowed by you, even more relevant.
- 3:33And if they just like shaking your presence right and you're
- 3:37super relevant. So that creates the arrogant
- 3:40head the need to be present to be rather they need to be
- 3:44relevant. So really it's a dangerous,
- 3:46actually slippery slope. And the opposite is to be
- 3:48humble. To be really humble, as we'll
- 3:50see, is to be a person who does not care what other people have
- 3:54to say about him, isn't trying to find out from, as they say,
- 3:58read the Whit school clippings, read the newspaper clippings
- 4:00about himself. He's not reading what they say
- 4:02about him. He's not trying to create an
- 4:05image that he, you know, perfectly carves out to make him
- 4:08look the best. All that is our anything, where
- 4:12a person is busy with themselves and how they reflect and how
- 4:15they look, how people talk about them, how they seem to others.
- 4:19All part of the theme and the family of arguments.
- 4:21Because what it means is that we're too focused on being
- 4:25relevant. And sadly, relevance and
- 4:27arrogance quadratically hand in hand.
- 4:29And humility is accepting the idea of not being relevant.
- 4:33Who's really humble? The people who you don't know
- 4:36the name. Those are the people or the
- 4:38people who somehow, someway, you know the name, but they
- 4:41literally can care less. They act the exact same way
- 4:44among the simple as they do among duality.
- 4:47They act the exact same way in a one-on-one as they do in the
- 4:50crowd. This and that is real humble and
- 4:54very hard to come by. And it's also, I was going to
- 4:56say it's hard. It's harder to find now.
- 4:58It's very hard to find now. And we'll talk why in a second.
- 5:00And there's an obvious reason why.
- 5:02And on top of it, it's also something where a regular good
- 5:07guy can easily lose himself in this area.
- 5:09You know, most traits, you're not even going from being a calm
- 5:12guy to being an angry guy overnight.
- 5:14You're not going to go from being a very, you know, peaceful
- 5:16person to be around to be a very frustrated person or these
- 5:19different traits that people have.
- 5:20But a person that's, that's part of your DNA a little bit, that's
- 5:22part of your mood. It's part of your makeup.
- 5:24And, you know, we all have to fight different anger of things,
- 5:26different control of things. Arrogance is something that a
- 5:30great guy who grew up in a very simple background, who always
- 5:34spoke about the fact that he loves humility.
- 5:37He can lose himself. And again, they're becoming the
- 5:39most arrogant man. The classy examples in the
- 5:43extreme way are outside our faith, outside our people and
- 5:47the world, the stars, right? You look at these people, look
- 5:51at their backgrounds and you know that they were very nice in
- 5:53the rookie year, very nice in the rookie year.
- 5:56The first movie they made, they were journalists.
- 5:58They were sweet. They gave the the news reporter
- 6:02the time of day. Well, that's true.
- 6:04Then what happened, what happened is they started to hear
- 6:07what everyone says about them. I mean, before you know it,
- 6:09before you know it, they started to get crazy when someone
- 6:13doesn't treat them with the respect that they got somewhere
- 6:15else. And now 10 years later, they're
- 6:17giving their opinion and oh, forget it.
- 6:18Then they have the political opinion and get it and they
- 6:20believe it makes sense. Why does it make sense?
- 6:23What is juggling a ball? No offense, just not a racist
- 6:26comment. What is juggling a ball?
- 6:27Anything to do with your opinion?
- 6:28Politics. Same way.
- 6:30Honestly speaking, both his people in a certain sense was a
- 6:32rabbi. His position have anything to do
- 6:34with the political statement. If it's plainly political, if it
- 6:37directly relates to what I understand, it relates to best
- 6:39who I understand. But if it's got nothing to do
- 6:42with each other, whereas I come in, the answer is it came to the
- 6:45head. When it got to the head, I
- 6:48started to believe that I am what they say I am.
- 6:51And that's a very dangerous road to go down because the rest of
- 6:53their life they spend, the rest of life they spend like a door
- 6:57they spend trying to keep that frame of mind in life.
- 7:02And it goes from, hey, it was cute.
- 7:04They gave me a lot of respect somewhere I was nice.
- 7:07I don't think I'm that type. I walk in and they all stood up
- 7:10or they all gave me fine, great. Till the next time.
- 7:15How they not do it, how they don't know what I am with it.
- 7:17They don't know what I'm at home.
- 7:18And this is how our world goes. And what a person needs to do
- 7:21and this is real, is figure out a way to remain humble.
- 7:26That means check yourself in the mirror all the time and say,
- 7:29Hey, son, am I that guy? Am I becoming that guy who I
- 7:33don't like anymore 'cause my friend used to be a good friend
- 7:35and then he's now difficult to be around?
- 7:38Am I the president that looks and says to himself, how much
- 7:43are people talking about me today and how much we visit?
- 7:45And you think it's crazy? It's a very normal reality for
- 7:49good, solid, healthy people without a border.
- 7:52That's who's telling I'll. See a little bit inside as a fit
- 7:54of like leadership. Like one times you got to be a
- 7:56leader. Can't be humble.
- 7:57Good. So it's a very hard question,
- 7:59honestly. And you take from the greatest
- 8:02lead of all time, Moshe La Beno, and he said to yourself, Moshe
- 8:04La Beno was very humble, also very confident.
- 8:08I've spoken about this in the past when I feel the concepts.
- 8:10And Moshe, the most humble man to ever live, also was maybe the
- 8:15most confident man to ever live eventually where he made three
- 8:18decisions that God only agreed with after the fact.
- 8:23He delayed Matantura, he delayed it one day he threw down the
- 8:28little hot to to break them and there's a third one.
- 8:33I'm not sure if that's fighting with Hashem when it come in
- 8:36prayer when it comes to Hashem wanted to punish us.
- 8:38I forgot what the third one is, but he made major decisions up
- 8:43against Hashem in a sense whatever wait if Hashem to agree
- 8:46after the fact, which indicates great confidence, but he's the
- 8:48most humble man that ever lived beyond that understanding and
- 8:51that's what a real leader does. They know when they need to
- 8:53step, but not about me. Well sure, I've been just to
- 8:56your point. Dave was pipe.
- 8:58He was called a senior. What does it seem?
- 9:00What I mean? It's not him.
- 9:02A pipe is a piece of metal, piece of plastic, and something
- 9:06runs through. It's got nothing to do with him.
- 9:09Where Cher perceived himself in all his gifts as a pipe.
- 9:13If I'm a pipe, all I have is the person who was placed in this
- 9:17role, who's got some work to do. If you internalize that enough,
- 9:21you remain come, you remain humbly.
- 9:23Ring yourself. This is a very grave risk.
- 9:25I'm telling you from personal experience.
- 9:27It's easily easily you can get the bite.
- 9:31I call it the bike, which is you can get the bite.
- 9:33We get the bug from the mindset that if I had a big deal here, I
- 9:37have to be a big deal everywhere.
- 9:39And now I can't sit in the back of the shoe in a different town
- 9:41in Cincinnati. Why not?
- 9:43Because you're a rabbi in Brooklyn, NY.
- 9:44What's going to do with this thing?
- 9:45Nothing. But in the back of my mind, this
- 9:48is part of the makeup and this goes on and on and on.
- 9:51And now I can't be this how people think.
- 9:54Now I'm a little bit annoying husband because you know, you
- 9:56come up the wife and and she's treating her husband, which
- 10:00thank God, the wives treat us like human beings, which has the
- 10:02ups and downs. And now this guy is ends up.
- 10:04Do you know what they say about me and that thing, you know, how
- 10:06many people will say my name? What does that do with your
- 10:09marriage? Zero.
- 10:10He's a legend in his own life. Exactly.
- 10:12And by the way, a lot of them and it's to David's point and
- 10:15how much we're going to do inside.
- 10:16But to David's point, and he said also, I keep, which is how
- 10:20it's getting worse today. The reason it's getting worse
- 10:22today because you have so many different areas and avenues of
- 10:26arrogance, which means if people know your name more, because
- 10:29they do, because of all the online, if people talk about
- 10:32you, more people go wild by you, more people that are more
- 10:35gullible. All these things are are in
- 10:36effect today. And because of that, so we read
- 10:39those news clippings and we believe in the hits that we get
- 10:42and the followers and the people making a big deal about us.
- 10:46By the way, let's be very real before you get too busy with
- 10:50yourself, there are 1000 other guys that are also a big deal
- 10:52today, right? And there are 1,000,000, 1/2
- 10:54influencers who have 200 followers and on, on, on, on X,
- 11:01right? And what are they worth?
- 11:02Their influences? The essence of an influencer is
- 11:04a zero. He's a guy whose job is to make
- 11:07noise. So before you get too busy with
- 11:09yourself and say how many followers, you have to remember
- 11:11there's a singer out there in the world who has 20 million
- 11:15followers, right? And everyone's got more million
- 11:17followers. And how many 100 million people
- 11:19watch the Super Bowl? So before you get too busy with
- 11:22the fact that you're a big dealer, remember numbers are
- 11:25numbers. They pick up speed, they pick up
- 11:27by people and it doesn't guarantee that you are actually
- 11:31a big deal. And if you are, it's a God-given
- 11:33talent. So the thing comes up even more.
- 11:35That's the reality. That's a full circle of humble.
- 11:38First of all, we are at risk of becoming arrogant by the big
- 11:42deal that were made into in any fashion there being business in
- 11:47shoe, in the community, in the Jewish world, in the overall
- 11:50world. There's a way there's an angle
- 11:52to make you arrogant. By the way, any person has a
- 11:55capability. It's true.
- 11:56As a leader in the leadership position, you're more at risk.
- 11:59That's true. Hey, definitely true.
- 12:01And a person therefore has to have a very real mindset.
- 12:05I tell you, I have a couple of troops on my sleeve that I try
- 12:09to keep me out of Bay. I don't know.
- 12:10I don't know if it's working. I don't know what's the work to
- 12:12do, but I have a couple of tricks on my sleeve.
- 12:15One of them is, is that when I go to where I learned, I'm a
- 12:19regular guy, 100% a regular guy. And you're based, you're judge
- 12:24based on how well you can learn. And how old were you there?
- 12:27So that means if you're missing a month or if you're missing you
- 12:29late every day, then you're not the best guy.
- 12:32Yeah, but you're Best Buy back home.
- 12:33What does that do? Anything in the real world not
- 12:36guaranteed to be the best guy. And that keeps you some more
- 12:39grounded. I hope it does.
- 12:40And there are other things that people can do to keep those
- 12:42grounds, but they have to be very careful not to be busy to
- 12:46publicity. It eats out of you.
- 12:48It gives you the bug. I mean, before you know it, you
- 12:50were this like, you know, a simple person that people love
- 12:54because of your simplicity. And before you know it, you
- 12:56lose, you drop that element of you.
- 12:59And now you just another diva, another wide receiver in the
- 13:02NFL, another one of these guys that's too good for himself.
- 13:05And he's talking about himself all day.
- 13:06And we know all he needs is 1 tornado CEO, that wide receiver
- 13:11and he's on the sidelines. Nobody cares at all what he has
- 13:14to say, right? All we need is them to retire
- 13:17and then to be out of the league five years and no one really
- 13:20gives too much as what they have to say.
- 13:22No one really cares. And that is an indication as to
- 13:26how fake arrogance is. It's built by outsiders.
- 13:29It's not built by your reality. If your arrogance comes from
- 13:32your genuine, you know, can I just Hashem and can you change
- 13:36your mind? By the way, you won't be
- 13:37arrogant. It won't happen.
- 13:39And second of all, call a couple.
- 13:40I can see that I got the outdoor that feels secure and confident
- 13:44in his way of thinking and way of of answering questions.
- 13:47I can, I can I can understand that because you spend so much
- 13:49time in Minnesota. By the way, they never did that
- 13:53ever. They never any real Hashu person
- 13:56has zero or has very little degree of arrogance.
- 13:59If they do, the more arrogant they are, the more upset they
- 14:02get. The more busy with Cavoir they
- 14:05are, the more is an indication that they've been too busy with
- 14:08the fake stuff and too little with the genuine stuff.
- 14:10And that's really our job in life is to remain that beautiful
- 14:14like a boy. You lose hand, you lose
- 14:17likability, you lose friends, you lose the ability to be a
- 14:20decent husband and a good father.
- 14:22The moment you start to believe what they say about you.
- 14:25So that's great. Let's be great.
- 14:27That's become a very big deal. But at the same time, let's
- 14:29remain the exact same person. When you see your friends from
- 14:32high school, right? 30 years, 40 years, 50 years
- 14:35later, you wanted to be and they don't feel uncomfortable in your
- 14:38presence. They don't like, oh, wow, this
- 14:40guy used to be chill. That guy used to have fun with
- 14:42him. Now he talks slow.
- 14:45Now every other sentence he says, I, I don't want that guy.
- 14:48I want the guy to remain the exact I want the guy to remain
- 14:51the exact same person. And that's real humility.
- 14:55OK, what's up with this?
