- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, man bootlet keV here, I'm gonna start doing
- 0:02Speaker 1: more videos like this where I talk about just what's
- 0:05Speaker 1: going on in hip hop in like a non toxic way,
- 0:07Speaker 1: as non toxic as possible, to be honest. But with
- 0:11Speaker 1: that being said, I wanted to talk about a few things,
- 0:15Speaker 1: one of which there is this New York rapper list
- 0:19Speaker 1: that came out on Complex. From what I understand, this
- 0:21Speaker 1: list is from twenty twenty three, but it's just gone
- 0:24Speaker 1: viral again, and I think it is egregious.
- 0:30Speaker 2: The list. If we look at it, they have jay Z.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Number one, Biggie number two, NAS number three, rock Him
- 0:39Speaker 1: number four, ll cool J's five fifty cents six, Nikki
- 0:44Speaker 1: is seven, DMX is eight, Bustin Rhymes is nine, and
- 0:47Speaker 1: Keras one is ten, and then you keep going throughout
- 0:50Speaker 1: the list, and you know, I think that there's some
- 0:54Speaker 1: people on this list that are misplaced, and there's also
- 0:59Speaker 1: some Peo on this list that's just an absolute atrocity
- 1:02Speaker 1: that they're on it. Obviously, if this list is from
- 1:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, having didi at number forty eight, it's crazy.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I also would like to point out having Didiya as
- 1:09Speaker 1: number forty eight is insane period. I Spice should not
- 1:13Speaker 1: be on this list. Pop Smoke's really high. We could
- 1:18Speaker 1: get into it. But I'm going to also say, I mean,
- 1:20Speaker 1: look love the biz Marquis, but biz Marquis was not
- 1:23Speaker 1: really known as much as an mc is more if
- 1:25Speaker 1: he was as an entertainer. But I did put together
- 1:29Speaker 1: a list of some of my I'm going to say,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm going to give five people, and there's a lot
- 1:35Speaker 1: of honorable mentions here, but I want to give my
- 1:39Speaker 1: legit five that were snubbed from this list, all right,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and my number one draft pick as too far as
- 1:50Speaker 1: who was snubbed from this list, Lloyd Banks. The Lloyd
- 1:55Speaker 1: Banks disrespect has got to stop. This is one third
- 2:00Speaker 1: of one of the most powerful groups in hip hop history.
- 2:04Speaker 1: On his own as classic mixtapes, he's got an incredible
- 2:06Speaker 1: discography of albums.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And he's been on an insane run.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Over the last decade of I would say the last
- 2:13Speaker 1: five years of dropping incredible bodies of work independently that
- 2:18Speaker 1: always get overlooked. But if we're not putting Lloyd Banks
- 2:23Speaker 1: in the top fifty New York rappers of all time, like,
- 2:27Speaker 1: what the fuck are we doing? This is the punchline, King,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you cannot have bizmarckuy Ice Spice.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You know, no disrespect to Jimmy.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I think Jimmy deserves to be on this list, but
- 2:42Speaker 1: I don't think deserves to be on this list. Over
- 2:44Speaker 1: Lloyd Banks, I don't think you know what do we again?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Lloyd Banks has to be on this list, So that
- 2:53Speaker 1: would be my number one snub that I would add
- 2:58Speaker 1: into this list. And what I noticed about this list
- 3:01Speaker 1: there are mcs on this list who aren't technically from
- 3:03Speaker 1: New York City. For example, at number twenty, Slick Rick
- 3:08Speaker 1: is on the list who deserves to be on this list,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but he is from the UK. So I also, as
- 3:15Speaker 1: a draft pick my number two top fifty MC in
- 3:21Speaker 1: New York history, though not originally from New York. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: think we can all agree New York is whom this
- 3:29Speaker 1: artist is most heavily affiliated with. When we think about
- 3:34Speaker 1: him and his partner DJ Premier and Gang Star, I'm
- 3:38Speaker 1: talking about Guru, one of the most distinct voices in
- 3:44Speaker 1: hip hop history. As a group, Gang Stars discography is
- 3:50Speaker 1: all time.
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's on the mantle. Again.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I'm looking at this list and I just can't imagine
- 3:58Speaker 1: not having Guru on a lie that includes Ice, Spice
- 4:04Speaker 1: and Cardi B. And that's no shade to Cardi because
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think Cardi deserves to be on this list as well.
- 4:10Speaker 1: All Right, So that's my second. So now we're kind
- 4:12Speaker 1: of getting into an interesting place here with I have
- 4:16Speaker 1: a list because I want to go through my honorable
- 4:18Speaker 1: mentions because I do think there's members of Wu Tang
- 4:21Speaker 1: that deserve to be on this list that aren't. I
- 4:25Speaker 1: actually would put Inspected Deck on this list above ODB.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I think Inspected Deck has two of the greatest verses
- 4:33Speaker 1: in hip hop history, triumph Uh and Above the Clouds
- 4:38Speaker 1: the Gang Star feature. Those are two of my favorite
- 4:40Speaker 1: verses ever. And I just think what he's done with
- 4:46Speaker 1: his new group and Inspected Deck has to be. If
- 4:51Speaker 1: you're gonna put ODB, you gotta put Inspected Deck. With
- 4:53Speaker 1: that being said, I'm not picking Inspected Deck as my
- 4:55Speaker 1: little Wu Tang tangent. I am gonna go though. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: feel fel like I'm going super old school on a
- 5:02Speaker 1: lot of these, but this is a newer pick. You
- 5:07Speaker 1: cannot have the fifty greatest rappers in New York history
- 5:11Speaker 1: and not have Joey Badass. Why is Joey Badassing on
- 5:15Speaker 1: this list? Even if this list was made in twenty
- 5:18Speaker 1: twenty three, How are we not including Joey Badass on
- 5:21Speaker 1: this list?
- 5:22Speaker 2: I feel like this list has a lot of.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I don't know what are we doing if Joey Badass
- 5:28Speaker 1: is on the list that you're including or you're not
- 5:32Speaker 1: including him, but you're including somebody like, you know, fucking again,
- 5:39Speaker 1: let's let's talk about fucking bismarcky like Joey Badass as
- 5:42Speaker 1: an MC. Why do we have Bizmarqui on the list
- 5:45Speaker 1: if we don't have Joey Badass in twenty twenty three,
- 5:48Speaker 1: before we knew Diddy was Didlin? Why the fuck would
- 5:50Speaker 1: you have Diddy on this list if we don't have
- 5:52Speaker 1: Joey Badass So that's three.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I gotta go oh.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Ooh, this is tough because I'm gonna tip pick two
- 6:04Speaker 1: more that I feel like we're the biggest snubs that
- 6:07Speaker 1: we should do a little Swapperoni on MM. People won't
- 6:15Speaker 1: like this, but we're talking about now ten.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Fifteen year run French Montana.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I know that a lot it's popular to hate on
- 6:29Speaker 1: French Montana, but french Montana was, you know, besides Nicky
- 6:38Speaker 1: asap mob French was the only guy out of New
- 6:42Speaker 1: York putting hits on the board for a serious amount
- 6:46Speaker 1: of time. French is probably the only guy if you
- 6:49Speaker 1: go to a nightclub in the South, or you go
- 6:51Speaker 1: to a nightclub on the West Coast, that you're gonna
- 6:54Speaker 1: hear a New York record being I mean, because we're
- 6:59Speaker 1: talking about pop French Montana Pop. That's one of the
- 7:01Speaker 1: greatest club songs of all time. I just think you
- 7:06Speaker 1: gotta have French on this list. If you're gonna go fifty,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you gotta have French on the list. And if I
- 7:11Speaker 1: had to pick one more, it's tough. It's damn.
- 7:17Speaker 2: It's really really tough.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Because I have a few on here that I feel
- 7:22Speaker 1: like if I were to make this list that all
- 7:24Speaker 1: these names that I have kind of set aside would
- 7:27Speaker 1: be up there. I'm going right now, I'm contemplating between
- 7:34Speaker 1: teleb Quality and A Z and I'm gonna go with.
- 7:42Speaker 1: If I had to pick five, I'm gonna go with
- 7:53Speaker 1: Azy Life's of Bitch. What are we talking about? Sugar
- 7:59Speaker 1: Hill or die It was? It was a hard decision,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but those are my five. Let's go through the honorable mentions. Obviously,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Teli Kwali. I have Joel Santana as an honorable mention.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I also have Immortal Technique as an honorable mention. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: have Action Bronson as an honorable mention. And what I
- 8:19Speaker 1: noticed about this list is it said New York. It
- 8:21Speaker 1: didn't say New York City. So I do think it
- 8:24Speaker 1: is an atrocity not to include the guys from Griselda
- 8:28Speaker 1: somewhere on this list.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And by the guys, I mean.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Like, I really think you can't go wrong with picking
- 8:33Speaker 1: any one of the three, but for me, it's Conway.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And I think if I'm looking at this list too,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I just want to kind of judge who's egregiously misplaced.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Pharaoh Manch at number forty nine is a fucking joke,
- 8:49Speaker 1: so Pharaoh mant should be a lot higher. I also
- 8:52Speaker 1: think that if you're looking at this list, man Jada
- 8:55Speaker 1: Kiss at sixteen just feels wrong.
- 8:58Speaker 2: It feels fucked.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And I gotta say one more other honorable mention. I'm sorry,
- 9:06Speaker 1: two more other honorable mentions that I actually had just
- 9:09Speaker 1: thought about in my head. Five Dog from a tribe
- 9:12Speaker 1: called Quest and Havoc Havoc from Mob Deep. Obviously, Prodigy
- 9:17Speaker 1: gets all the flowers of the MC. But come on, guys,
- 9:19Speaker 1: Havoc is a fucking incredible MC. I feel like this
- 9:25Speaker 1: number eleven, instead of putting Prodigy, you just put Mob
- 9:27Speaker 1: Deep put the fucking group.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Man.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I also feel like, when we're talking about five, what
- 9:34Speaker 1: do we say, like Tribe called Quest to me is
- 9:36Speaker 1: the third greatest rap group of all time and fucking
- 9:41Speaker 1: Fife Dog five Dog. For fuck's sake, let's put Fife
- 9:44Speaker 1: on the list. So that's what I'll say. If I
- 9:48Speaker 1: had to take I'm not even gonna say who which
- 9:49Speaker 1: five I would take off? I kind of said earlier,
- 9:51Speaker 1: but if I mean, if if you had to take
- 9:53Speaker 1: five off.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Oh, I don't even get all the way into that.
- 9:58Speaker 1: For sure, I'm taking biz Mark off, I Spice off.
- 10:01Speaker 1: That's what I'll say. But that is this New York
- 10:05Speaker 1: list how I see it. Who was snubbed, the five
- 10:09Speaker 1: artists who I would put on the list that are
- 10:11Speaker 1: not currently on the list, and some of my honorable
- 10:17Speaker 1: mentions anyway, shout out to Complex or making this list
- 10:22Speaker 1: still rage bait. Two and a half years later, however,
- 10:25Speaker 1: long it was also very random that they censored Fat Joe.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Why the fuck doesn't matter? If his name's fat, Joe
- 10:33Speaker 1: is fat. I mean, I don't know. Anyway, I'd like
- 10:39Speaker 1: to keep it moving because there's so much going on
- 10:42Speaker 1: in hip hop right now, specifically push a T and
- 10:47Speaker 1: the Clips are dropping a new album.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:48Speaker 1: If you guys know anything about me, I do always
- 10:50Speaker 1: keep a Clips album on the wall behind me. Lord Willing,
- 10:54Speaker 1: I got assigned by Pusher T. I still need Mouse
- 10:56Speaker 1: to sign it. But this past week, the record so
- 11:01Speaker 1: Be It came out with uh push a T. Initially
- 11:05Speaker 1: a lot of people thought Pusha T was talking about
- 11:08Speaker 1: Kanye West on this verse. Well, he did an interview
- 11:11Speaker 1: with GQ and he cleared that up. He was really really,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I mean, coming for Travis Scott's head on this record.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So Jesus Christ. First of all, I gotta say something.
- 11:25Speaker 1: The rollout for this Clips album has been fucking incredible.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Between as Trumpets and so Be It, it feels like
- 11:32Speaker 1: an Album of the Year contender.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I have to say this. I am a huge push
- 11:38Speaker 2: A T. Fan. I am a huge Travis Scott fan.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I enjoy both of their music on a on a
- 11:46Speaker 1: level that is you know, I would say that I
- 11:49Speaker 1: would I would be there. P one in radio we
- 11:51Speaker 1: always kind of say, like, you know, you got to
- 11:54Speaker 1: talk to your p one. That's the people who are
- 11:56Speaker 1: like super loyalty, like when it comes to Push T
- 11:58Speaker 1: in the clips like Jesus Christ like, they're probably my
- 12:01Speaker 1: second or third favorite rap group of all time, and
- 12:05Speaker 1: Push a T is one of my favorite mcs ever.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I have him on my all time list in the
- 12:10Speaker 1: top ten, which a lot of people wouldn't have.
- 12:12Speaker 2: In fact, actually went viral.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Because me and Jim Jones debated about this was on
- 12:19Speaker 1: the Rap Caviar podcast. We debated about Push a Ta
- 12:23Speaker 1: being included in the top fifty MC list of all time.
- 12:27Speaker 1: He said he didn't deserve to be in there. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: fucking lost my mind. You could probably pull that up
- 12:31Speaker 1: on Silence you can kind of see it. But and
- 12:35Speaker 1: I also really really love Travis. I think Travis makes
- 12:37Speaker 1: amazing bodies of work. With that being said, I guess
- 12:44Speaker 1: the issue at hand feels like a semi valid one
- 12:47Speaker 1: if you think about some of the moves maybe over
- 12:51Speaker 1: the years Travis has made. You know, when Travis first
- 12:56Speaker 1: came into the game, Mahammie lifted. It is the guy
- 13:01Speaker 1: who made Mercy a producer for Phoenix. I remember before
- 13:06Speaker 1: Al Faraoh dropped, Lifted was telling me about Travis very
- 13:12Speaker 1: early on, because Travis is around during those super I
- 13:16Speaker 1: guess what year was Mercy. I was living in Vegas
- 13:18Speaker 1: when Mercy came out, so that was probably twenty eleven
- 13:21Speaker 1: or twelve. With that being said, I was hip to
- 13:26Speaker 1: Travis pretty early, and then when Al Faroh dropped, I
- 13:31Speaker 1: fucked with Al Faraoh. We played a few records on
- 13:33Speaker 1: my underground hip hop show off at Al Faraoh. When
- 13:36Speaker 1: we think of Travis, I think of Good Music and
- 13:41Speaker 1: Grand Hustle initially, because I think a lot of people
- 13:44Speaker 1: forget that Travis was signed a TI and Kanye.
- 13:46Speaker 2: There was kind of like this.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Marriage of the two, you know, OG's kind of putting
- 13:52Speaker 1: on this young kid. So Travis very much a part
- 13:58Speaker 1: of the Good Music family certain point in time in
- 14:01Speaker 1: his career, quite literally a part of Kanye's family. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: with that being said, you know, Pusha T was the
- 14:09Speaker 1: president of Good Music from twenty fifteen until recently, so
- 14:13Speaker 1: push A T does have a relationship with Travis and
- 14:17Speaker 1: has had a front row seat to probably some of
- 14:18Speaker 1: Travis's low points emotionally.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Et cetera. So I could understand if you're push and you.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Have Travis pull up on you to play Utopia with
- 14:33Speaker 1: Pharrell in the room. Now, it's been debated whether or
- 14:39Speaker 1: not Drake had dropped his verse for Meltdown yet, where
- 14:46Speaker 1: he talked about melting down Urell's chains. But either way,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think the point at hand is if we're close
- 14:57Speaker 1: enough for you to come into the studio with us
- 15:00Speaker 1: and play is your album, and then that the version
- 15:06Speaker 1: of the album you play does not include the Drake verse,
- 15:08Speaker 1: whether it was laid yet or not. Now, obviously, if
- 15:10Speaker 1: it was late already, that's just straight up fucking some
- 15:13Speaker 1: host shit, some fucked up shit.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Right. According to academics, it hadn't been laid yet.
- 15:19Speaker 1: But I do believe push A t said the next
- 15:21Speaker 1: day or it was that same week that the song
- 15:23Speaker 1: came out and they heard it. So you know, we're
- 15:27Speaker 1: not too sure about the timeline. But I would say,
- 15:30Speaker 1: if you're Travis and you value your relationship with Pharrell,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and you value your relationship with push A Te whom
- 15:38Speaker 1: which you just sat in the studio with and brought
- 15:41Speaker 1: you a Utopia suitcase to to play this fucking album,
- 15:45Speaker 1: at the very least, you would think that you should
- 15:50Speaker 1: have a conversation with Pharrell and Push. It's at least
- 15:55Speaker 1: a phone call, right, Hey, guys, I know I just
- 15:58Speaker 1: played you the album just so you know, the same
- 16:02Speaker 1: guy whom which I have sicko mode with. Just really
- 16:07Speaker 1: just drop the verse on the song Meltdown and you're
- 16:10Speaker 1: there's a shot towards you. How do you guys feel
- 16:13Speaker 1: about it? It's just to me, that's just kind of
- 16:15Speaker 1: the polite thing to do, it seems. I mean, the
- 16:20Speaker 1: one thing I say that about Push is Push don't
- 16:21Speaker 1: give a fuck.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You know.
- 16:22Speaker 1: There was a clip of him talking about how when
- 16:24Speaker 1: Drake would come and work with Kanye when they were
- 16:26Speaker 1: in Wyoming, he couldn't be there because he's like, I
- 16:28Speaker 1: don't fucking play that shit Like I don't. I don't
- 16:31Speaker 1: play the politics. I don't care who you are. If
- 16:35Speaker 1: if it's up, it's up. And also let's point out
- 16:39Speaker 1: that pusha T is Kendrick Lamar is not the first
- 16:43Speaker 1: person to beat Drake in a rap battle. That's all
- 16:45Speaker 1: I'll say. Push a T story of added on silenced
- 16:51Speaker 1: Drake like it, I mean, what are we doing?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:54Speaker 1: So Travis Scott, I'm sure he'll address it, but I
- 17:00Speaker 1: do think this brings us to another more interesting conversation,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and that would be if you were to take and
- 17:08Speaker 1: I would like to preface this conversation by saying, if
- 17:12Speaker 1: you were to take everything that both of these men
- 17:14Speaker 1: are part of, Travis over here, Push A T, the
- 17:19Speaker 1: Clips over here, I think Push A T and the
- 17:23Speaker 1: music he's been a part of. If you take the Clips,
- 17:27Speaker 1: his discography and his solo discography, I think Travis Scott
- 17:34Speaker 1: gets decimated in that debate because I think the Clips
- 17:39Speaker 1: have two classic albums. I think Lord Willing and Hell
- 17:44Speaker 1: Hath No Fury are classics. And I love, absolutely Love
- 17:50Speaker 1: Till the Casket drops. It's a fucking damn good project.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And then the Reap Gang shit.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And you don't even got to get into the Clips
- 17:57Speaker 2: mixtapes Jesus. So let's let's do this.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Let's take all that aside, because I just said, if
- 18:05Speaker 1: I were to take Push A T and everything the
- 18:08Speaker 1: Clips was on, like all the Clips albums, I think
- 18:11Speaker 1: Push the T washes Travis scott discography to discography. I
- 18:16Speaker 1: don't even think it's fucking a discussion. And I love
- 18:19Speaker 1: Travis Scott's discography, but let's throw all the Clips albums
- 18:22Speaker 1: out the window, and let's just have this discussion.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Push A T.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Solo shit, Travis Scott's solo shit. So let's look at
- 18:31Speaker 1: these albums because I will say, in my opinion, and
- 18:37Speaker 1: this doesn't mean that pushes discography is better, but I
- 18:41Speaker 1: do think between both of their bodies of work, Daytona
- 18:46Speaker 1: is the best album. So if you took all Travis's albums,
- 18:49Speaker 1: you took all PUSHA T's albums. I do think Push
- 18:51Speaker 1: A T. Daytona is the best album out of everything.
- 18:55Speaker 1: But let's go album for album, all right, I want
- 18:59Speaker 1: to go, are we starting with uh?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Are we starting with Rodeo? Or Days Before Rodeo? Because
- 19:07Speaker 2: Days Before Rodeo is on DSPs.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Now it's probably SSS Rodeo first, right, Oh, I gotta say,
- 19:17Speaker 1: I think Days Before Rodeo might be my second favorite track.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Okay, so it's four for four. M Okay, we'll do
- 19:25Speaker 2: four four V four.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna go, Okay, astral World, Utopia, Birds in the
- 19:34Speaker 1: Traps Scene, McKnight, and Rodeo and then let me see
- 19:39Speaker 1: you Push the T Ship.
- 19:42Speaker 2: It's almost dry Daytona. Uh, I'm gonna go.
- 19:49Speaker 1: The best album between both of their discographies is Daytona,
- 19:55Speaker 1: But god damn it, man, I think Travis Scott, Astro World,
- 20:02Speaker 1: Birds in the Trap Scene, McKnight, It'stopia, Rodeo. If you're
- 20:09Speaker 1: just talking solo work, it's fucking close. Go back to Push.
- 20:13Speaker 1: It's discography again. It's almost dry, so fucking good too. Man. Oh,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Daytona's the best album. I think It's almost Dry as
- 20:25Speaker 1: his second best album. I think King Push is number three.
- 20:31Speaker 1: My Name Is My Name is number four. Now, if
- 20:33Speaker 1: we're ranking all of these albums, I think Daytona is
- 20:36Speaker 1: number one, then I think you gotta go Astro World
- 20:41Speaker 1: as number two. Fucking incredible album. It's a perfect album,
- 20:47Speaker 1: just like Daytona is. Then things can get interesting. I
- 20:54Speaker 1: wasn't the craziest Utopia fan. I love Rodeo though. I'm
- 21:00Speaker 1: gonna put Rodeo at number three, and then number four.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna put It's Almost Dry at number five. I'm
- 21:12Speaker 1: gonna put Birds in the Traps Scene McKnight, and then
- 21:23Speaker 1: i'm gonna put Utopia, and then I'll put King Push
- 21:31Speaker 1: and my Name Is my Name. So I think that
- 21:34Speaker 1: that's a fair If we just go solo artists a
- 21:37Speaker 1: solo artists and there's not a bigger push a t
- 21:40Speaker 1: fan you'll find. I think Travis got him on the
- 21:45Speaker 1: total discography.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Even though it's close.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I think once you enter the Clips into the conversation,
- 21:51Speaker 1: it's I mean, Travis gets destroyed for the sake of fun.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Let's put the Clips albums. Let's do the same countdown
- 21:58Speaker 1: we just did. All right, So if we're to do
- 22:00Speaker 1: this but include the Clips, it's gonna be ugly because
- 22:05Speaker 1: I would go, Hell hath No Fury is number one.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I would go Daytonas number two. I would go Lord
- 22:18Speaker 1: Willin is number three. Then I would go astral World,
- 22:24Speaker 1: then I would go Rodeo, Then I.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Would go.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Till the Casket drops, and then the rest of the
- 22:36Speaker 1: list we already talked about earlier. So if you were
- 22:39Speaker 1: to combine both Clips and Push your Tea together, it's
- 22:42Speaker 1: it's a it's a wash.
- 22:43Speaker 2: But if we're just talking just solo shit, it's close.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I give the edge of Edgeter Travis shout out to
- 22:49Speaker 1: Push your Tea for fucking putting this shit on Wax.
- 22:52Speaker 1: One of the greatest of all time. Cannot wait for
- 22:55Speaker 1: this new Clips album. I'm hearing it as a classic.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Uh So shout out to them, shout out to Push,
- 23:00Speaker 1: out to Travis Scott, A shout out to the Clips.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Man.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I've probably spent like fucking four hundred dollars on Clips
- 23:08Speaker 1: t shirts since they've been dropping their merkout. They just
- 23:10Speaker 1: dropped a whole new collection of fucking merch. Shot to
- 23:13Speaker 1: the Clips. Looking forward to that album. It's coming out
- 23:14Speaker 1: July eleventh. All right. Another good thing today was June eighteenth.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And when I think back to June eighteenth, twenty thirteen,
- 23:20Speaker 1: that's twelve years ago. That's probably I mean, one of
- 23:24Speaker 1: the last days. I went to a record store, spent
- 23:26Speaker 1: a bunch of money, and was super excited because Kanye
- 23:29Speaker 1: West dropped Easis, Mac Miller dropped Watching Movie with the
- 23:33Speaker 1: Sounds Off, and Jay Cole dropped his sophomore album Or
- 23:37Speaker 1: in Center.
- 23:38Speaker 2: About all three, I loved All three.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I think it's kind of an interesting time period in
- 23:47Speaker 1: hip hop because.
- 23:50Speaker 2: You know, it's.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Towards the end of the blog era, but not quite yet.
- 23:57Speaker 1: You know that Piff's still around, live mixtapes is still around,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and people were still going to the store to buy music.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I bought my shit at Zea Records in Phoenix and
- 24:08Speaker 1: I want to talk about just Kanye Man for a second,
- 24:10Speaker 1: because when this album came out, the buzz was so crazy.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I remember he was doing these screenings listening sessions, if
- 24:20Speaker 1: you will, all across the country for Jesus, and I
- 24:24Speaker 1: remember he did one in Phoenix and we watched it
- 24:27Speaker 1: somewhere downtown. They like projected the album onto a wall,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and I remember kind of being thrown off. I was
- 24:36Speaker 1: super thrown off by Jesus when I first heard it
- 24:39Speaker 1: as like a crazy Kanye fan.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I was just very like, this is different.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It's probably Kanye's first or second most polarizing album of
- 24:51Speaker 1: the good stuff. So we got to be very clear
- 24:55Speaker 1: when I say of the good stuff, because I feel like.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Jesus, uh, it goes Jesus.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Life of Pablo Yay, and then things get hairy. You
- 25:11Speaker 1: get Jesus King. Donda was solid, and then anything after
- 25:18Speaker 1: Donda we're just kind of like chalk up to like
- 25:21Speaker 1: unfinished Kanye that he puts out. But I would say
- 25:26Speaker 1: it's probably it's either Ato Eight's and Heartbreaks or Jesus.
- 25:31Speaker 1: When we think about polarizing, people either love these albums
- 25:34Speaker 1: or hated them. There wasn't a lot of people who
- 25:35Speaker 1: was like super in the middle of these two projects.
- 25:37Speaker 1: So Jesus to me is very high and I did
- 25:45Speaker 1: not initially love Jesus.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It took it probably took like two weeks for to
- 25:48Speaker 2: really grow on me.
- 25:50Speaker 1: But you know, I think back to what music sounded
- 25:54Speaker 1: like then and how much of a sonic risk Kanye
- 25:58Speaker 1: took on Jesus. And you know, we always hear about
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yay sampling people on certain albums, sampling people's vibes, having
- 26:11Speaker 1: people around. I think he sampled Kid Cuddy on Ato
- 26:17Speaker 1: Wits and Heartbreaks, kind of sampled his sound, you know
- 26:20Speaker 1: what I'm saying, kind of did kid cutty shit to
- 26:22Speaker 1: the highest degree. And I think on Yeesus, Uh, he
- 26:29Speaker 1: sampled Travis Scott and Mike Dean. I mean, Mike Dean
- 26:32Speaker 1: obviously handled a lot of the production on this album.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I think he've handled all of it, not like ninety
- 26:39Speaker 1: percent of it, But Travis Scott was around. You know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: Travis Scott helped write on some of these records. And
- 26:48Speaker 1: I think when you hear Yesus, it kind of makes
- 26:53Speaker 1: Travis possible, you know, it makes Rodeo possible.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It makes days before Rodeo possible. For that.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And I think it's aged, I mean gracefully when we
- 27:05Speaker 1: think about you know, one of my favorite Kanye songs
- 27:08Speaker 1: ever is Blood.
- 27:08Speaker 2: On the Leaves.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Such a fucking incredible record. I also think Black Skinhead.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Banger, fucking banger. Also, Black Skinhead might have been a
- 27:19Speaker 2: little uh.
- 27:21Speaker 3: He was living the crumbs.
- 27:22Speaker 2: He was eating some crumbs here, I mean new Slaves.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Hold my Liquors probably my second favorite song on this album,
- 27:31Speaker 1: Hold my Liquor at Chief keyf on it, which is
- 27:33Speaker 1: crazy because I remember being like, why the fuck is
- 27:35Speaker 1: Chief Keef on this album? Fucking amazing. Of course, bound
- 27:40Speaker 1: To a lot of people like bound To, I'm not
- 27:41Speaker 1: as high as bound To as most people.
- 27:43Speaker 2: That samples crazy, incredible sample and I'm in it. One
- 27:47Speaker 2: of the most aggressive sex songs ever.
- 27:51Speaker 1: He said he'll put his fist in you like a
- 27:54Speaker 1: civil rights sign, and he was eating Asian pussy.
- 27:57Speaker 2: All he needed was sweet and sour sauce. I love
- 28:00Speaker 2: this album.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I rank it very high in Kanye's discography, number three,
- 28:08Speaker 1: to be specific. I got My Beautiful Dark twis the
- 28:10Speaker 1: Fantasy Late Registration then uses that's my top three Kanye albums.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Got It above Graduation, Got It above College Dropout, So
- 28:18Speaker 1: I know that that's a hot take.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Do I got it above Cold drop Out?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Maybe definitely got it about Graduation? Really, I think Graduation
- 28:26Speaker 1: is Kanye's most overrated album.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I like it. It's a classic, but I just think
- 28:33Speaker 2: people put it too high. I think Yes is better
- 28:36Speaker 2: than Graduation. All right.
- 28:40Speaker 1: So then you go to the mc miller aspect of this.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Mc miller dropped Blue Slide Park, which was his first
- 28:45Speaker 1: like studio album. A lot of people didn't love this album.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Blue Slide Park had some shit on it, yeah, free, yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 1: but I just don't think this. I remember Party on
- 28:58Speaker 1: Fifth Ave was like this Rado single and it was
- 29:02Speaker 1: mac Miller's big coming out party. The problem is is
- 29:05Speaker 1: you know when you had a mixtape like Kids Out
- 29:09Speaker 1: and I think Macadelic might have was Macadelic Out before
- 29:13Speaker 1: Blue Slide Part I don't remember.
- 29:14Speaker 2: But I saw that. To say that.
- 29:18Speaker 1: This album watch a movie with the sound off is
- 29:24Speaker 1: if you're if you're just looking for hip hop from
- 29:27Speaker 1: mac Miller, I don't think there's an album that fucks
- 29:29Speaker 1: with it.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Good Am might be one of them, but.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I think this is arguably the best album to come
- 29:36Speaker 1: out that day. Ah some of the features on this
- 29:41Speaker 1: album crazy absolute, Action Bronze and Red Dot music is
- 29:45Speaker 1: one of my favorite Action Bronson versus ever. You know,
- 29:49Speaker 1: bird Call was crazy.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Uh.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I mean I think about just like school Boy Q
- 29:55Speaker 1: and Mac Miller's insane chemistry and the rec and on
- 30:00Speaker 1: this album was just insane. And then this album too
- 30:04Speaker 1: came with a crazy tour. The tour that came from
- 30:08Speaker 1: this was uh.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I went to it a celebrity theater in Phoenix. Was
- 30:12Speaker 2: Mac Miller.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I want to say the Internet and Chance the Rapper
- 30:23Speaker 1: and Action Bronson. For sure, Chance and Action Bronson were
- 30:26Speaker 1: on the tour. I think the Internet was on this
- 30:28Speaker 1: tour too, but I think I was. This is top
- 30:34Speaker 1: two or three most fucking high I've been at a
- 30:37Speaker 1: concert moment for me. I was fucked up off an edible.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I had dabbed backstage with Action Bronson. That's on YouTube somewhere.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was fucking cooked and Mac Miller had a full band.
- 30:52Speaker 1: One of my favorite concerts of all time and a
- 30:57Speaker 1: kind of a final homage to the Blog era. When
- 31:00Speaker 1: I think of those three guys, Mac Miller, o g
- 31:02Speaker 1: Blog Era guy, Action Bronson, Chance the Rapper. You know,
- 31:06Speaker 1: Chance is probably the last great rapper to come out
- 31:09Speaker 1: of the blog era. I mean, I might be wrong
- 31:11Speaker 1: about that, but in my in my brain, I think that.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That tour is crazy because it was so some some
- 31:18Speaker 3: dates had a chance to wrapper the internet. Vince Staples, Oh,
- 31:21Speaker 3: Vince was on the tour Earl Sweasher and Action Bronson. Yes,
- 31:25Speaker 3: so that is there. Yeah, that is crazy.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And I was twacked. If you go on my YouTube channel,
- 31:31Speaker 1: you just look at blue Leg Action Bronson. There's like
- 31:33Speaker 1: a video. Yes, so look, so I know that.
- 31:39Speaker 2: You recently started getting If you.
- 31:42Speaker 1: You can mute that, but you see the dab brig
- 31:46Speaker 1: in the background. So this dude to Action Bronson took
- 31:50Speaker 1: advantage of me backstage, and I don't mean that like
- 31:54Speaker 1: I when I told him I had never died before,
- 31:57Speaker 1: this guy's eyes lit up and he said, oh, you
- 32:01Speaker 1: got a dab And then he's like, oh, now you
- 32:03Speaker 1: got to try a flavor.
- 32:05Speaker 2: So he made me take three dabs back to back
- 32:08Speaker 2: to back.
- 32:08Speaker 3: That's insane and I was fucking.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Twacked, bro Like this This is about as twacked as
- 32:20Speaker 1: an interview can get. And there's a few clips from
- 32:22Speaker 1: this interview, but yes, this was the night of the
- 32:25Speaker 1: mac Miller watching movies with the sound off tour backstage
- 32:28Speaker 1: Celebrity Theater.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Absolutely fucking twacked. Man, I was high as a motherfucker motherfucker.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yeah, damn, dude, you're a helly Scroll back because you
- 32:38Speaker 1: could probably see another clip where I'm like, nonetheless, what
- 32:43Speaker 1: a fucking tour that was? Go down, scroll down from
- 32:47Speaker 1: the same it'd been maybe that h Yeah, let's see
- 32:51Speaker 1: if you can see how I am in this video.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Look me uploading minute, dude, I was fucking, I mean baked.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Get you.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, what a day?
- 33:05Speaker 1: You see the fucking torch? What was this twenty thirteen? Yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 1: eleven years ago. Crazy times with the CM Punk shirt
- 33:15Speaker 1: for all you motherfuckers out there, see that CM Punk shirt,
- 33:18Speaker 1: the vintage. Anyway, we got a great tour from this album.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Also wanted we can't talk about tours coming from these
- 33:27Speaker 1: three albums that I've mentioned the Eyasest tour because I
- 33:29Speaker 1: also think the easest tour of fuck, greatest concert ever
- 33:32Speaker 1: been to so with.
- 33:33Speaker 3: The Mountain, the Mask, the merch.
- 33:36Speaker 1: The merch was crazy, it was crazy. I got three shirts. Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 1: I still got them all. Yeah, I was on the
- 33:42Speaker 1: floor for that show. I have the blue one when
- 33:44Speaker 1: he's like looking down with the chain. Yeah that one too,
- 33:47Speaker 1: one I got a bunch of them.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yeah uh yeah. That kind of changed merch too. Everything
- 33:54Speaker 2: that changed everything on the merch side.
- 33:56Speaker 1: So yesus and then Jake Cole. I think j Cole,
- 33:58Speaker 1: you know, one of the greatest of all time. And
- 34:01Speaker 1: there are certain people, you know, just like there's certain
- 34:04Speaker 1: people who say nas it was written as his best album,
- 34:06Speaker 1: there's a lot of people who think that Born Center.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Is J Cole's best album over for Sails Drive.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I don't happen to be one of those people, but
- 34:13Speaker 1: I do love this album.
- 34:17Speaker 2: The Illuminati Land of the Snakes is crazy.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I mean, of course the singles were so crazy, power
- 34:23Speaker 1: Trip all that fucking but for Britain Fruit with Kendrick
- 34:26Speaker 1: was just amazing.
- 34:28Speaker 3: You know.
- 34:28Speaker 1: The crazy thing too, is like this is during the
- 34:30Speaker 1: time where like supposedly, I'm sure when this album is
- 34:33Speaker 1: getting recorded, at the same time, there's probably like real
- 34:38Speaker 1: work or discussions about this J Cole Kendrick project that
- 34:41Speaker 1: we're never ever gonna hear or get. I know that
- 34:43Speaker 1: they did some stuff, but you know it's up there.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Are you more? Are you? You're a pretty big Jake
- 34:48Speaker 2: Cole Fan Cook, our producer Cook is here.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Yeah no, and then let Nas down. Jesus Christ. I
- 34:54Speaker 3: want to say this Deluxe was like one of the
- 34:58Speaker 3: last Like Deluxe, I actually went out and bought you
- 35:01Speaker 3: know so.
- 35:02Speaker 2: And janet Iko's on here amazing, amazing, you could smile,
- 35:05Speaker 2: such a great single.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Forbidden Fruit and Kendrick's verse on that, Oh my.
- 35:09Speaker 2: God, insane.
- 35:11Speaker 1: But I gotta so if we can rank these three
- 35:13Speaker 1: albums on any given day, I might change it. But
- 35:17Speaker 1: I think Borne Center's number three, Mac Miller watching movie
- 35:23Speaker 1: with the sound off, Watching Movies with the sound Off
- 35:26Speaker 1: number two, and.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm really high on us this man, I got a
- 35:31Speaker 2: number one. Yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I still have a shrink wrapped brand new Kanye Use
- 35:36Speaker 1: this album sitting in my death somewhere.
- 35:39Speaker 3: I think, depending on the day for me, I could switch.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Between those between Mac Miller and Yeah for sure, for sure,
- 35:48Speaker 1: So shout out to all three of those albums.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think it might be the last time I.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Spent a lot of money on music on one day.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I actually, I mean, obviously I bought some vinyl since then,
- 35:57Speaker 1: but brand new releases, shit, the record store took all
- 36:01Speaker 1: my money.
- 36:01Speaker 2: That fucking day Man, So.
- 36:03Speaker 1: June eighteenth, great day for hip hop. We got some
- 36:05Speaker 1: good tours out of This Day Timeless music, and that's
- 36:09Speaker 1: how I ranked those three albums. Anyway, Hey, if you're
- 36:12Speaker 1: watching this, I'm gonna try to do more shit like
- 36:16Speaker 1: this on the channel. Honestly, I would like to try
- 36:19Speaker 1: to do a weekly But let me know your thoughts
- 36:23Speaker 1: if you guys like this vibe of video, because we
- 36:26Speaker 1: want to get away from just doing interviews, so that
- 36:30Speaker 1: way y'all can kind of get more of my take
- 36:32Speaker 1: on short and shit, especially when it comes to this
- 36:35Speaker 1: hip hop shit, you know. So yeah, leave a comment.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of people are gonna argue about
- 36:41Speaker 1: me putting French Montana in my top fifty.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Come on, guys, or Jesus better than Mac Miller or
- 36:51Speaker 2: you know whatever it is.
- 36:52Speaker 1: But leave a comment with your thoughts and if you
- 36:55Speaker 1: want more shit like this, we'll be back, hopefully next week.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna be the same format.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I don't know if it's gonna be shot here, might
- 37:02Speaker 1: be at my house, who fucking knows, But thank you
- 37:04Speaker 1: for watching
