- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Almost Famous listeners. It's been here jumping in for some
- 0:08Speaker 2: breaking news. Lots of stuff out there on the internet
- 0:11Speaker 2: right now talking about bachelor. Grant ellis, yes, our most
- 0:17Speaker 2: recent bachelor. Obviously, there's been a breakup from his season already,
- 0:23Speaker 2: not a very long lived relationship, but a relationship. Nonetheless,
- 0:28Speaker 2: he's been out quite often now talking about moving on
- 0:33Speaker 2: since his engagement ending.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Now, I do have a perspective on this. I have
- 0:39Speaker 3: been in this in a very similar situation on the show.
- 0:42Speaker 2: A bachelor, have a breakup, try to get out into
- 0:45Speaker 2: the world however you can. But let me give you
- 0:48Speaker 2: a little background here, just in case you are unfamiliar.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Grant got on Instagram. He did a live answering questions
- 0:59Speaker 2: just from listeners as they came in. We reacted to
- 1:04Speaker 2: this live, obviously, we jumped on, we talked about it.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It is a big deal. It is a big headline.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Anytime there is a relationship or a relationship ending, it
- 1:13Speaker 2: does make headwaves. And the thing that stood out to
- 1:18Speaker 2: me was he said he wasn't heartbroken. Now that feels
- 1:24Speaker 2: odd to me, So I mean, I don't know their situation. Obviously,
- 1:28Speaker 2: we didn't see even a lot on the season. There
- 1:32Speaker 2: wasn't a lot of buy in from the audience. And
- 1:34Speaker 2: if you want to come at me on that, well,
- 1:37Speaker 2: look at the ratings from the season, look at the
- 1:39Speaker 2: response from the season, looking the kind of the news
- 1:44Speaker 2: from that season. There just wasn't a lot of connection
- 1:47Speaker 2: with the contestants or with Grant coming off of that season,
- 1:51Speaker 2: which some would claim is probably why The Bachelor is
- 1:54Speaker 2: still kind of in hiatus at this point and they've
- 1:57Speaker 2: moved on to announcing the Golden Bachelor.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Instead, But.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So's I guess. My point is it's hard to really
- 2:05Speaker 2: understand what's going on in this relationship behind the scenes.
- 2:07Speaker 2: But what I do know is when a relationship ends
- 2:09Speaker 2: from the show, there is heartbreak. There's heartbreak for a
- 2:12Speaker 2: lot of reasons, especially when you go into a show
- 2:14Speaker 2: hoping you can find love, hoping that maybe this environment,
- 2:19Speaker 2: no matter how weird it is, could bring you your
- 2:21Speaker 2: forever partner if you go into it with the mindset of, hey,
- 2:25Speaker 2: this could be the avenue in which I find my
- 2:29Speaker 2: forever love. When it doesn't work out, there is heartbreak,
- 2:35Speaker 2: There is pain, and then you have the obviously the
- 2:39Speaker 2: dynamic of the public pouring in their opinions, pouring in
- 2:46Speaker 2: their comments, and there is more pain because typically when
- 2:51Speaker 2: there is a breakup, sides are chosen. You pick one side,
- 2:56Speaker 2: you pick the other. Nobody really sits in the middle,
- 3:00Speaker 2: just not the way reality television works. And so there's
- 3:03Speaker 2: pain because you're getting hit from both sides. Well, so
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think for Grant, I think right now from watching
- 3:12Speaker 2: the live and then obviously kind of listening to Ashley
- 3:17Speaker 2: and Trista's reaction to it, I think Grant is in
- 3:21Speaker 2: a season of protection. I think he is trying to
- 3:23Speaker 2: protect himself. I don't think the reality has hit him yet.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Of this is the ending to his kind of one
- 3:33Speaker 2: thing that came from the show. If we're honest, this
- 3:37Speaker 2: was his big moment. This relationship was going to be
- 3:40Speaker 2: the thing that maybe sustained from the show. But with
- 3:42Speaker 2: this ending, a lot of doors will be closed. It's
- 3:48Speaker 2: the way breakups work. From the show as well. They
- 3:50Speaker 2: love you as a couple. When that ends, you're just
- 3:53Speaker 2: one of many who haven't worked out from the show,
- 3:55Speaker 2: and that's fine, but you have to get to that
- 3:57Speaker 2: reality as quickly as possible. So he's kind of in
- 3:59Speaker 2: this sea enough protection. I think they're both doing the
- 4:02Speaker 2: best they can. It's not you can kind of read
- 4:06Speaker 2: through the lines on Juliana's and his post that there
- 4:11Speaker 2: was trouble in Paradise. They're both kind of claiming that
- 4:13Speaker 2: it was all fine and they just didn't work out,
- 4:15Speaker 2: and that's hard to believe when both are kind of
- 4:19Speaker 2: moving on quickly and sharing these messages, little messages that
- 4:24Speaker 2: seem the point that there was a little bit more
- 4:26Speaker 2: trouble than what they're leading on, and maybe we'll get
- 4:30Speaker 2: to the bottom of that over time. I don't love
- 4:32Speaker 2: when couples break up from the show and they immediately
- 4:34Speaker 2: come out kind of bashing the other person. Breakups happen,
- 4:39Speaker 2: they do not everybody gets along. That's the truth of
- 4:43Speaker 2: the matter, that's relatable for all of us, and so
- 4:46Speaker 2: I don't love when they bash right away. But I
- 4:49Speaker 2: do love when we do get to the bottom of
- 4:51Speaker 2: the story over time because we've invested so much in
- 4:54Speaker 2: their relationship.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Here's where things get interesting. Giving you the background.
- 5:09Speaker 2: After Trista and Ashley spoke about his Instagram live and
- 5:13Speaker 2: shared their thoughts, both positive and critiques, we posted on
- 5:19Speaker 2: our Instagram. The Almost Famous Podcast Instagram a video of
- 5:24Speaker 2: Ashley and Trista talking about his Instagram Live Well. Grant
- 5:30Speaker 2: commented on the post. He saw it and commented, now
- 5:35Speaker 2: this post that he made has now been deleted. I
- 5:40Speaker 2: don't think it's an unfair post for him to make,
- 5:46Speaker 2: but he deleted it. Anyways, this is what it says.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'll read it to Grant Ellis posts on The Almost
- 5:51Speaker 2: Famous Podcast Instagram. He says, everyone is criticizing and I
- 5:54Speaker 2: get that I did everything I could to try to.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Make the relationship work. So did Juliana.
- 6:00Speaker 2: He says, I am able to distance my feelings when
- 6:04Speaker 2: something isn't for me. A lesson learned over a heartbreak
- 6:09Speaker 2: any day. Again, I don't think this is an unfair
- 6:13Speaker 2: comment for him. It does to me. Now this is
- 6:17Speaker 2: my personal opinion. I want to be clear on that
- 6:20Speaker 2: it comes off a little cold if just a few
- 6:25Speaker 2: months ago we were watching not even a few months ago,
- 6:29Speaker 2: we were watching them come out publicly. They were asking
- 6:33Speaker 2: for the public support of their relationship. They were talking
- 6:37Speaker 2: about their futures together, they were talking about moving in together.
- 6:43Speaker 2: They were claiming that the reason we haven't seen them
- 6:46Speaker 2: together is because of the distance, but that was going.
- 6:48Speaker 3: To be a solution here soon.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Ashley, my co host, had, just like she does oftentimes,
- 6:57Speaker 2: she had made the assumption that things weren't good between
- 7:01Speaker 2: the two of them. She'd said that publicly to many
- 7:05Speaker 2: people's criticism.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Even though she was right.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So if you're one of those people, you've got to
- 7:10Speaker 2: go apologize to her. This comes off a little cold,
- 7:15Speaker 2: but I don't think it's an unfair comment for him
- 7:17Speaker 2: to make. Again, I think he's enough season of protection.
- 7:20Speaker 2: He is trying to move on past this, to try
- 7:24Speaker 2: to figure out what life looks like beyond the relationship
- 7:27Speaker 2: and beyond the Bachelor. He is trying to get back
- 7:31Speaker 2: out into the world and date. Why his fire is
- 7:34Speaker 2: still burning from the show and goodness, gracious, we've had
- 7:40Speaker 2: this conversation on almost of his podcast. How quickly is
- 7:43Speaker 2: too quickly to move on from a breakup. I don't
- 7:45Speaker 2: know if there's any amount of time that it's too quick.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Once you call it quits. Goodness, you can get out
- 7:50Speaker 2: there and and date around. So I don't blame him
- 7:53Speaker 2: for trying to get out there and date, but I
- 7:55Speaker 2: think where the public is getting upset and probably why
- 8:01Speaker 2: he deleted his post because the comments on it weren't
- 8:04Speaker 2: super positive. Is because we are still invested in his
- 8:08Speaker 2: relationship with Juliana. There was one thing to come from
- 8:10Speaker 2: that season where we were frustrated because of the disconnection
- 8:15Speaker 2: with the show in itself. We still could have a
- 8:19Speaker 2: connection to Hey, this couple could work, this couple could
- 8:22Speaker 2: make something happen, and we would be really excited about that.
- 8:26Speaker 2: So once that ended, we're like, well, what was all
- 8:28Speaker 2: this for?
- 8:29Speaker 3: What was the point?
- 8:30Speaker 2: We had a season that we didn't connect with any
- 8:32Speaker 2: of the contestants. Really, we had a season that felt
- 8:36Speaker 2: like the Bachelor didn't want to be there half the time,
- 8:39Speaker 2: and it was many months of our life and a
- 8:42Speaker 2: really critical season for the show because it was coming
- 8:44Speaker 2: off a Joey season which was such a success in
- 8:48Speaker 2: so many ways that it frustrated us because there was
- 8:52Speaker 2: so much missing and now what we missed from it
- 8:54Speaker 2: is any love story at all. Anyways, as I made
- 9:00Speaker 2: he did delete the post, so he obviously was feeling
- 9:03Speaker 2: that the comments were not going in a direction he appreciated.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I kind of have the standard of once I put
- 9:09Speaker 2: something on in the public, it stays out in the public.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I want people to hear my thoughts, even if they
- 9:15Speaker 2: would disagree, but he does have the right to delete it,
- 9:18Speaker 2: and he did so. It leads us now to this
- 9:22Speaker 2: moment where the shows producers have asked me to share
- 9:28Speaker 2: any advice I have.
- 9:28Speaker 3: For granted, I don't have a lot of advice.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I don't love to give advice into situations I'm so
- 9:33Speaker 2: oblivious on I guess my words of wisdom would be this.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Too shall pass. But also.
- 9:42Speaker 2: My words of wisdom would be you were the Bachelor,
- 9:44Speaker 2: which comes with a weight of people investing into your
- 9:47Speaker 2: relationship and into your life. You agreed to that, if
- 9:52Speaker 2: nothing else. You agreed for people to have a microscopic
- 9:56Speaker 2: view for a period of time into your dating and
- 10:00Speaker 2: into your relationships. And if you wanted to do this
- 10:03Speaker 2: show for the right reasons, you wanted people to invest
- 10:08Speaker 2: into you so that they could root for you, they
- 10:11Speaker 2: could invest into your future, into your love, and so
- 10:16Speaker 2: kind of sweeping this under moving on so quickly in
- 10:20Speaker 2: a lot of ways, feels like a disregard for a
- 10:24Speaker 2: fan base who was rooting for you. And so maybe
- 10:27Speaker 2: take a step back and realize that it doesn't sit
- 10:32Speaker 2: well with an audience that watch you to fall in
- 10:35Speaker 2: love for you to just brush it under so quickly
- 10:40Speaker 2: and move on so quickly.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It's great that you're.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Able to disassociate your feelings when things don't work out.
- 10:47Speaker 2: It doesn't mean that the people who have supported you
- 10:50Speaker 2: and rooted for you can do the same. You owe
- 10:53Speaker 2: them nothing. I think that would be a lot of
- 10:56Speaker 2: people's commentary. You owe them nothing, But you did agree
- 11:02Speaker 2: to be the Bachelor, which means that you did agree
- 11:06Speaker 2: to open your life up to a world of all
- 11:10Speaker 2: of these things for a long period of time. And
- 11:14Speaker 2: what I want for Grant personally is for him to
- 11:17Speaker 2: take away from this experience the doors that have been
- 11:20Speaker 2: opened for him and pursue those things that enhance as
- 11:27Speaker 2: the advice that was given to me enhance the life
- 11:29Speaker 2: you already had before. But also to appreciate and respect
- 11:35Speaker 2: that this franchise invested a lot into him and to
- 11:39Speaker 2: their relationship, and understand that fans might not just be
- 11:43Speaker 2: okay with this nonchalant, I'm all good, back out in
- 11:47Speaker 2: the market kind of mentality so quickly after telling all
- 11:51Speaker 2: of us that you were moving in with Juliana. It's
- 11:55Speaker 2: hard to move on that quickly for us. So but
- 11:59Speaker 2: you know, I hope for both of them that they
- 12:00Speaker 2: can take a step into whatever love looks like now,
- 12:07Speaker 2: but also to realize that, yeah, to realize it won't
- 12:12Speaker 2: be easy because people still remember you from being engaged
- 12:15Speaker 2: on a show. We hope to hear from Grant. I'd
- 12:18Speaker 2: love to talk to him. If we don't get to
- 12:21Speaker 2: talk to him, I'm sure you can find him on
- 12:23Speaker 2: Instagram live. Well, that's the breaking news, Grant Ellis has
- 12:27Speaker 2: commented on the Almost Famous Instagram. That comment has since
- 12:32Speaker 2: been deleted if you out looking for it. It sounds
- 12:36Speaker 2: like Grant is trying to protect and that makes sense.
- 12:41Speaker 2: It's a weird time to have a public breakup. It's
- 12:43Speaker 2: been Almost Famous podcast until next time.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I've been bed.
