- 0:09Speaker 2: with your hosts, the Major King Matt Cardona, Maximum Effort
- 0:16Speaker 2: Brian Myers, and Dr. Silver Balls himself, Smart Mark Sterling!
- 0:24Speaker 1: All right, welcome everyone to the Hard Foundation bonus episode
- 0:28Speaker 1: for the month of December 2021. This episode is about
- 0:32Speaker 1: Hawkins and Ryder reuniting. This is actually part two, part one.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It was dropped last month. I am joined by Hawkins
- 0:40Speaker 1: and Ryder themselves first. Brian, what's up?
- 0:45Speaker 3: What's up, everybody?
- 0:45Speaker 4: It's the most professional wrestler, Impact Wrestling star, and the
- 0:50Speaker 4: Scotty Pippen of Wrestling Figure Collecting. Mark threw me call
- 0:53Speaker 4: me hawkins and threw me all off and i'm actually
- 0:56Speaker 4: very excited to be here guys because i'll be dead
- 0:59Speaker 4: honest with you that last podcast was like the height
- 1:01Speaker 4: of my covid and i don't even like remember it
- 1:04Speaker 4: i was so sick and couldn't barely speak and got through.
- 1:07Speaker 5: It oh wow well i'm i'm here as well still
- 1:11Speaker 5: here uh matt cardona but i guess you can call
- 1:15Speaker 5: me for this episode long island iz Zach Ryder.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Eat and catering, Zach Ryder. That's what he said for
- 1:23Speaker 3: this one.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to be facilitating this.
- 1:26Speaker 4: My good friend Brian pulled me out of catering back
- 1:29Speaker 4: into relevancy.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Okay, Gilbert, what were you doing?
- 1:37Speaker 5: No, I 100% Well, I don't think there was any
- 1:39Speaker 5: plans to ever make you win, but I definitely needed the.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Rub as well.
- 1:43Speaker 5: It was a mutual rub.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Mutual rub. Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Well, I'll be facilitating this. I think I went a
- 1:48Speaker 5: whole calendar year. Maybe, I think maybe the 52nd week
- 1:52Speaker 5: I got thrown into a battle royal.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah. I think you were in it as well. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 3: we talked about the last one, I think, actually.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I will be facilitating this Q & A. I am SmartMarks. Now,
- 2:04Speaker 1: last week, I mean, last month, we sort of set
- 2:07Speaker 1: the scene.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but go listen to that one first, because that's
- 2:09Speaker 5: where the meat and potatoes, this is kind of just
- 2:11Speaker 5: the filler, because there were.
- 2:13Speaker 3: So many more questions, so we wanted to keep going.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So I got to listen to that. And then people
- 2:19Speaker 1: ask questions underneath that video. So, um, like I said,
- 2:23Speaker 1: we set the stage already, so let's just dive right
- 2:26Speaker 1: into the questions or is there anything that you guys
- 2:28Speaker 1: wanted to bring up before we went that you kind
- 2:29Speaker 1: of remembered.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Or there's something that should be said, um, that I
- 2:35Speaker 5: don't know if a question will lead to it. So
- 2:37Speaker 5: I want to get out of the way here is
- 2:39Speaker 5: that I don't really like to live in regret, but
- 2:42Speaker 5: there is definitely a couple of things in my career
- 2:45Speaker 5: that I'm like, ugh, I wish I would have done that.
- 2:48Speaker 5: One of those things, I'm not going to list all
- 2:49Speaker 5: of them, but one of them is after WrestleMania 32,
- 2:56Speaker 5: Edge and Christian both came up to me after I
- 2:58Speaker 5: won the IC title, and they were so happy for me,
- 3:00Speaker 5: so proud of me. And I should have just said, hey, guys,
- 3:03Speaker 5: can we get a picture with me holding the belt,
- 3:06Speaker 5: all three of us?
- 3:07Speaker 3: And, like, I didn't, and it, like, it ate at
- 3:09Speaker 3: me for so many years.
- 3:11Speaker 5: But I feel like I was meant to not get
- 3:13Speaker 5: that picture because when Brian and I won the tag
- 3:17Speaker 5: team titles, Edge and Christian were waiting, like, right outside.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Gorilla for us.
- 3:21Speaker 5: So, like, we were there in our gear with the titles, like, fuck,
- 3:24Speaker 5: we're getting this picture now.
- 3:26Speaker 3: We're getting this picture now.
- 3:27Speaker 5: So I'm so glad I waited because I feel like
- 3:29Speaker 5: it was meant to be us four as opposed to
- 3:32Speaker 5: just the three, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 3:34Speaker 3: And, like... And the second that, like, for them to, like,
- 3:37Speaker 3: go out of their way to, like, come meet us.
- 3:41Speaker 5: If you're watching the video, right. If you're watching the video,
- 3:44Speaker 5: it's the I was here. Like, you buy it, like,
- 3:48Speaker 5: the shop, and it's us four with the towels. I
- 3:50Speaker 5: think Brian has a similar frame, but it's him and
- 3:51Speaker 5: his family.
- 3:54Speaker 3: My wife and I had the whole thing.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Yeah, like, it's very, very, very touching that they, like,
- 4:03Speaker 4: Literally went out of their way to come, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 4: meet us in Gorilla.
- 4:05Speaker 3: And they were so, you know, excited for us. Pretty cool.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Also interesting that there were a couple of retired wrestlers
- 4:11Speaker 1: at the time.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, you know, it's mania. There's all kinds
- 4:15Speaker 3: of guys around. It wasn't like, you know.
- 4:17Speaker 1: No, I'm just saying at the time, which is not
- 4:20Speaker 1: that long ago.
- 4:21Speaker 3: And now they're out.
- 4:22Speaker 1: There were retired wrestlers and now they're main roster superstars.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Another thing that was cool that we didn't really touch
- 4:28Speaker 5: upon is that we got like the Mania plaque, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 5: like the Shawn Michaels WrestleMania 12 plaque, which I thought
- 4:34Speaker 5: was so cool that we got it.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I'm looking at it right now. And it's cool. It
- 4:39Speaker 3: has the piece of the mat.
- 4:40Speaker 5: And it's cool when people come to the signings and
- 4:42Speaker 5: have us sign it.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's like really cool. I like it, you know?
- 4:46Speaker 5: And then something that was supposed to come out but
- 4:48Speaker 5: never did, but I got set in the prototype.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Brian never did, so I feel bad. I forgot all
- 4:51Speaker 3: about this actually.
- 4:52Speaker 5: It's like this big display case and it has a
- 4:54Speaker 5: piece of the canvas and we signed it.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Got made?
- 4:58Speaker 5: It never got made. I don't know why it didn't
- 5:00Speaker 5: get made, but they sent me the prototype.
- 5:03Speaker 3: The merch guy.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Wow, that's cool.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a one of one or
- 5:08Speaker 3: a one of five or what. Pouring salt in an
- 5:10Speaker 3: old wound here.
- 5:10Speaker 4: In my mind, they gave that to you like the
- 5:15Speaker 4: way we got our Super 7s this week. It was
- 5:16Speaker 4: just like the first ones that are ready and then
- 5:18Speaker 4: I was going to get it when it came out
- 5:20Speaker 4: and I just totally forgot about it and it never
- 5:22Speaker 4: came out.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You're right. Yeah, something like that. And then....
- 5:26Speaker 5: You know, obviously we have the Comic-Con story where we
- 5:28Speaker 5: thought for sure we were getting the figures because we
- 5:35Speaker 5: have to set the stage here. So it's like, all right,
- 5:37Speaker 5: we're doing this podcast, right? Now keep in mind, Brian
- 5:41Speaker 5: had got elites as like a fucking loser. I got
- 5:44Speaker 5: a retro. They're doing guys like Sting.
- 5:46Speaker 4: I mean, now that we're not WWE guys, I can say,
- 5:47Speaker 4: and I don't know how blatant I've made this over
- 5:50Speaker 4: the years because my figure was in our podcast era.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Bill didn't even really want to do that. Right.
- 5:56Speaker 4: He fought on it. I mean, in a way, he
- 6:00Speaker 4: was trying to get me in lineups, I guess, and
- 6:01Speaker 4: in a way, he wasn't. And then finally, he plugged
- 6:04Speaker 4: me in there.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Dude, the only reason I come with that wall and
- 6:08Speaker 3: all this stuff is.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Because he didn't think it was going to sell. He
- 6:11Speaker 4: was looking for any added incentive to make me and
- 6:17Speaker 4: hope to God I didn't warm the peg. And then
- 6:18Speaker 4: I figured I wound up outselling everybody in the entire set.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Which I'm very proud of. Yeah, so Brian got that figure.
- 6:27Speaker 3: You need all the characters, Bill. Like, this is my
- 6:29Speaker 3: only figure. Like, it's going to move.
- 6:31Speaker 5: I mean, Bill is such a mark. Like, well, Brian,
- 6:33Speaker 5: you're not winning enough matches on TV.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Like, come on, Bill. Yes, no. And I do hear them. Like,
- 6:37Speaker 3: I know there's been certain things that they got, like,
- 6:39Speaker 3: burnt on. For sure. Like the Singh brothers or whatever,
- 6:42Speaker 3: you know. And, like, J & J security type shit. But,
- 6:46Speaker 3: you know. I just thought mine was a different case. Right.
- 6:49Speaker 5: So, Brian gets that, right? And then, like, a year prior,
- 6:52Speaker 5: where I'm doing, like, nothing on the roster, because it's
- 6:56Speaker 5: a year prior, we do the access, and that's where
- 6:58Speaker 5: they show you the Mattel Elite, and they show me
- 7:00Speaker 5: the retro. So, at the time, the retro is, like,
- 7:03Speaker 5: they're making Cena, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and then they
- 7:06Speaker 5: just throw me in there, which I loved, but, like,
- 7:08Speaker 5: it didn't quite make sense, you know? I'm like, all right.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But it was like Mattel was doing me a favor, like,
- 7:13Speaker 5: a nice thing, and I.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Really appreciated it.
- 7:15Speaker 4: I also kind of think that's why it's, like, Old
- 7:18Speaker 4: school Zack Ryder, not modern day Zack Ryder, because.
- 7:22Speaker 3: They could justify that it was over Zack Ryder, not
- 7:25Speaker 3: Jabroni Zack Ryder. It's totally fine.
- 7:26Speaker 5: The point I'm trying to prove is that a year,
- 7:29Speaker 5: year and a half later, we're on TV.
- 7:32Speaker 3: We have a podcast.
- 7:33Speaker 5: We're the tag team of WrestleMania. We're the hosts of
- 7:35Speaker 5: the fucking panel. So it's like a no-brainer. Oh, they're
- 7:38Speaker 5: going to.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Fucking show our figures. We're definitely getting figures. How would
- 7:41Speaker 3: we not? A year prior, you're going to have prior.
- 7:44Speaker 5: I'm not even on TV. I'm getting a retro that
- 7:46Speaker 5: nobody gets retros. Brian's going to leave. He's like, you know,
- 7:49Speaker 5: Bill doesn't want to do it. So we're definitely going
- 7:51Speaker 5: to get figures. We're on stage. We're there. Was Becky
- 7:54Speaker 5: Lynch there? They show Becky Lynch, her new figure. I
- 7:57Speaker 5: think Rey Mysterio's there.
- 7:58Speaker 3: They show Rey.
- 7:58Speaker 4: This is also the second time we've done it, and
- 8:01Speaker 4: we crushed the prior year. We asked back to do
- 8:04Speaker 4: it again because they basically knew, like, if you want
- 8:07Speaker 4: talent to do this, we're the only two.
- 8:09Speaker 3: That could do it. Without reading off a teleprompter. Without
- 8:11Speaker 3: reading off a teleprompter. I mean, like, people are going
- 8:13Speaker 3: to care. Right. Know the product.
- 8:15Speaker 4: So, again, we're killing it. And I have no problem
- 8:18Speaker 4: patting myself on the back for this. Like, we crush it.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah. We're being charismatic.
- 8:22Speaker 4: We're being funny. We're using, like, you know, insider toy
- 8:25Speaker 4: lingo and shit.
- 8:27Speaker 5: We're clapping for Lucha House Party.
- 8:29Speaker 3: That's, like, where it was hurting.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Like, you're showing off, like, okay, there's Kalisto's new figure,
- 8:33Speaker 4: and I'm clapping, just thinking, okay, it doesn't matter because
- 8:35Speaker 4: our figure's coming.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah. And then like, I think someone did like, all right,
- 8:39Speaker 3: that's it. The wrap it up boys were like, what?
- 8:44Speaker 3: You really brought us here? A new day two?
- 8:47Speaker 5: And not saying they didn't deserve figures, they all do. Like,
- 8:50Speaker 5: you really didn't, you couldn't give us a fucking figure?
- 8:53Speaker 5: They did give us a Forky figure, which is like,
- 8:55Speaker 5: they threw a Ghostbuster out, which is cool. But that's,
- 8:58Speaker 5: it's not, and then like, we kept getting, you know, told, oh,
- 9:01Speaker 5: it's in a lineup.
- 9:02Speaker 3: It's not in a lineup. It's in a lineup. It's
- 9:03Speaker 3: not a lineup.
- 9:03Speaker 5: And then like, turns out, you know, I didn't re-sign
- 9:08Speaker 5: my contract, so they pulled me from the basic line.
- 9:11Speaker 5: I was going to be in a basic set. They
- 9:12Speaker 5: totally pulled me. Brian was still in. Brian, we've seen
- 9:16Speaker 5: pictures of Brian. The public has not.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I have it saved in my phone.
- 9:20Speaker 5: And then Brian gets released, and it doesn't come out anyway. So,
- 9:25Speaker 5: I guess eventually there was going to be a plan,
- 9:28Speaker 5: but like, it was way too late.
- 9:30Speaker 4: You had all this time. You had a full year.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I think what makes me and you salty about the
- 9:35Speaker 4: whole thing, and Dee Freedom has helped us out with
- 9:38Speaker 4: his information. I think WrestleMania 35 is the most toy-produced
- 9:43Speaker 4: roster of all time. I mean, like, every match of
- 9:49Speaker 4: that show, multiple. I mean, it's insane how many toys
- 9:54Speaker 4: there are representing people on that show.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And we're the toy guys. We're in the elite squad.
- 9:59Speaker 3: We have the possibilities.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Like we couldn't be more in and more proven ourself
- 10:04Speaker 4: you know i mean like that they wouldn't have been
- 10:05Speaker 4: pet warmers they wouldn't you know so i think that's
- 10:08Speaker 4: what that hurts but i'll ask you this broski and
- 10:10Speaker 4: this just popped in my head while you were speaking
- 10:13Speaker 4: would you trade the edge head for mania uh 35 elites.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I don't think I would. Oof.
- 10:23Speaker 5: The only reason I will say no is because we're
- 10:27Speaker 5: doing the Mania moment as a big fuck you to
- 10:29Speaker 5: Mattel and that's good enough for me.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Because we are doing those figures, the ringset figures.
- 10:35Speaker 3: That were supposed to come out in 2021. Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 4: I think the Super 7s are kind of like a
- 10:40Speaker 4: few too and I think the Edgeheads are so unique
- 10:43Speaker 4: because they're technically like flashback legend figures.
- 10:46Speaker 3: No, you're right.
- 10:48Speaker 5: If we had one choice, knowing what I know now,
- 10:53Speaker 5: that we killed him with Super 7, we're making our
- 10:55Speaker 5: own toy line, we have the zombie figures, we have
- 10:58Speaker 5: the major moment figures.
- 10:59Speaker 3: More Super 7s on the horizon.
- 11:02Speaker 1: You know what?
- 11:03Speaker 5: Listen, it wasn't corporate Steve or Robert's call, so when
- 11:06Speaker 5: I say, fuck you, Mattel, it's not at them.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Oh, no, actually, just so everyone knows, none of the people....
- 11:13Speaker 4: Slightly makina but none of the people that were we
- 11:16Speaker 4: know and we named up all the time it's just
- 11:17Speaker 4: like wwe corporate people too that kind of well it
- 11:20Speaker 4: was a little bit really are the culprits that like
- 11:21Speaker 4: shoot us out of lineups and stuff.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Wwe cpg whatever that lady's name is she's that that.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Bitch is fired too though so she hated me she
- 11:29Speaker 3: hated us she hated us yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 5: And i know bill i know bill didn't want to.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Put us in i know bill was hesitant no i
- 11:38Speaker 3: know i know bill took us out bill took us
- 11:40Speaker 3: out of the lineup Yeah, because he's... No, no, because Bill...
- 11:46Speaker 3: This is what I heard through the grapevine. That Bill, once.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Because we were supposed to be in that WrestleMania elite
- 11:52Speaker 5: that went to Walmart.
- 11:53Speaker 3: And I understand. Don't put Hawkins and Ryder in that.
- 11:55Speaker 3: There's only four people in there. I get that. You
- 11:58Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 5: But then it was like, well, we can't put them
- 12:01Speaker 5: in the elites in their Mania gear if it's not
- 12:03Speaker 5: a Mania set. Which makes no fucking sense because it was...
- 12:06Speaker 5: They made everybody else. You know what I'm saying? So yes,
- 12:10Speaker 5: I'm still bitter about it. I don't care.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I don't care. It wasn't meant to be. It would
- 12:16Speaker 3: have been nice for sure.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Everything's great.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Actually, we're talking about merch. That trading card is one
- 12:23Speaker 4: of my favorite things there is.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I agree. That's like the coolest. There's a trading card
- 12:27Speaker 3: of us winning the titles. Very difficult to grade, which sucks.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Why is that?
- 12:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Whatever that year, that WrestleMania set, Papa Bear's tried and
- 12:37Speaker 4: tried and I.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Don't think a 10 exists. Because there's a chrome, right?
- 12:41Speaker 3: Chromes are hard?
- 12:42Speaker 4: No, this is like a cheap WrestleMania set. I can't
- 12:45Speaker 4: even explain it.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I thought that there's multiple cards from that match.
- 12:50Speaker 3: No. No, no.
- 12:51Speaker 5: There's like different variants, right?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 3: There's variants.
- 12:54Speaker 4: And then I guess we each have relics, but we're separate.
- 12:59Speaker 4: But this is the only one with like our hands raised.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:02Speaker 5: So I have one where I'm doing like the super
- 13:03Speaker 5: rough rider.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Right. And I have one where I'm just like getting
- 13:07Speaker 3: ready to tie up. In the green. Got it.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Which, you know, so it's great that it got, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 5: represented in some way. And like we said, we have
- 13:15Speaker 5: the major moments coming out, and it is what it is.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Another funny thing is that when we, at first when
- 13:23Speaker 5: we were doing these Super 7s, we didn't, like when
- 13:25Speaker 5: Super 7 came to us, we didn't know, we didn't
- 13:28Speaker 5: have gear designed. Because it was like, literally, like we
- 13:31Speaker 5: got released days later, Brian Flint calls me.
- 13:33Speaker 3: So we didn't have like the gear. I feel like
- 13:34Speaker 3: it was the next day. It might have been.
- 13:36Speaker 5: So one of the things I was thinking about doing,
- 13:39Speaker 5: and I got the gear designed and I haven't worn
- 13:41Speaker 5: it yet, is that WrestleMania gear, you know, the Christian
- 13:45Speaker 5: style gear, but all the MCs replacing ZRs. And I
- 13:50Speaker 5: have that gear.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Made and you never wore it? Made.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Yeah, because I thought maybe that would be my super step.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And I said, ultimate fuck you. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:59Speaker 3: But I'm like, nah.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I'd rather it be like my new look because this
- 14:02Speaker 5: is like a one-time thing.
- 14:03Speaker 3: So I'm waiting.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I'm using this. I'm saving this for a special night.
- 14:06Speaker 5: Probably won't get a figure out of it, but it's fine.
- 14:08Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I mean, my Jet stuff I can never wear again.
- 14:13Speaker 4: It was literally for MetLife and Jet's theme. I can't
- 14:17Speaker 4: even recreate it for any purpose.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Unless you guys reunite for one night.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Unless it's like St. Patrick's Day. If we have a
- 14:23Speaker 3: big tag match, we'll wear the Super 7 gear for sure.
- 14:27Speaker 5: I'm wearing the Super 7 gear at Hard to Kill
- 14:29Speaker 5: when I go for the Impact World title.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I'm very excited. Breaking news. That's cool. That's great.
- 14:33Speaker 1: All right, we're all over the place here. Gabe Bonificio. Brian,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm sure in retrospect there wouldn't be a thing you'd
- 14:40Speaker 1: change about the finish to your WrestleMania 35 match, but
- 14:43Speaker 1: what sort of ideas did you have in mind for
- 14:46Speaker 1: how you'd end your losing streak? You getting the pin
- 14:49Speaker 1: in this particular match was perfect storytelling for your character.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I swear to God this is true. I would never.
- 14:56Speaker 4: think about it i wouldn't even daydream about it i
- 14:58Speaker 4: would i just because i knew i'd drive myself crazy
- 15:01Speaker 4: doing that because it it's so out of my hands
- 15:03Speaker 4: you know what i mean a fake wrestling show.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Then you get then you disappoint yourself.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Yeah it's just written by vincent man and writer so
- 15:10Speaker 4: like what like me daydreaming and scheming this thing it
- 15:15Speaker 4: was just kind of pointless and.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You know that it would be the biggest mess up
- 15:20Speaker 1: in the world if they oh.
- 15:21Speaker 4: It'd be like school bullying baron corbin and it would
- 15:24Speaker 4: have been forgotten about you know what i mean so
- 15:25Speaker 4: like In actuality, the way it ended is beyond my
- 15:31Speaker 4: wildest dreams. I could have never, from when this started,
- 15:35Speaker 4: or even if you count from 100, you know, the
- 15:38Speaker 4: 0 and 100 when the streak kind of became a thing.
- 15:41Speaker 4: If you told me this is going to end in
- 15:42Speaker 4: two years, and you and Broski are going to reunite
- 15:46Speaker 4: and become tag team champions at WrestleMania in your hometown.
- 15:50Speaker 5: When you just said that, I'd be like, no, that
- 15:52Speaker 5: didn't happen.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Right? That's what I'm saying. You can't even make that up. So.
- 15:57Speaker 4: it's like one of those times in life where reality
- 16:01Speaker 4: was better than my dreams even.
- 16:03Speaker 3: It's surreal. It's still surreal.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We did mention that you kind of pitched to win
- 16:09Speaker 1: the Battle Royal as your win.
- 16:10Speaker 3: That was the only time ever, ever that I pitched
- 16:15Speaker 3: anything to win was that.
- 16:17Speaker 4: But that was also, when I said in the last episode,
- 16:19Speaker 4: a very half-hearted, half-assed pitch because.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Really I just wanted to get in there and talk
- 16:24Speaker 3: to Vince about my gear.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: You know while I had his ear and and I
- 16:31Speaker 4: don't know if I said this in the last episode
- 16:32Speaker 4: but I just recalled this somebody smartened us up to
- 16:37Speaker 4: not the SNL thing but that there's already a plan
- 16:40Speaker 4: for the Andre and it's like set in stone so
- 16:42Speaker 4: like your pitch is pointless is kind of what we
- 16:45Speaker 4: were told before we went in there so we really
- 16:47Speaker 4: the wind was out of our sails anyway.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Right they could they could have at least teased it
- 16:54Speaker 1: too and then had Oh, for sure.
- 16:57Speaker 4: We talked last time about that battle royal that he did,
- 17:00Speaker 4: and I got to pretty late later on, and I
- 17:03Speaker 4: think Elias or Corbin or somebody knocks me out. That
- 17:06Speaker 4: was one of the first times the crowd was like,
- 17:08Speaker 4: it was cool.
- 17:09Speaker 3: They were turning me.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Greg the Powley, what was the communication with the WWE
- 17:16Speaker 1: like when COVID was in its early stages? So I guess.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Here's your dirt sheet stuff for this episode. All right,
- 17:24Speaker 3: so I remember.
- 17:26Speaker 5: We did some shitty ass live event where one of
- 17:29Speaker 5: the Vikings was out. So you wrestle the bald Viking
- 17:31Speaker 5: and I'm in street clothes.
- 17:33Speaker 3: It was deep. You know, I never forgot this. It
- 17:35Speaker 3: was deep. It was where the Briscoe brothers live in
- 17:37Speaker 3: like deep, deep. Is that Delaware? I'm not sure. They're
- 17:44Speaker 3: from Delaware.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:45Speaker 3: It was like some random town in Delaware.
- 17:47Speaker 5: I remember the doc, the W doc saying like, they're
- 17:50Speaker 5: going to cancel WrestleMania. This whole world's going to shut down.
- 17:52Speaker 5: No way. I have so many memories of this.
- 17:55Speaker 4: We, uh, we show up and we're supposed to work
- 17:59Speaker 4: the Vikings and Ivar's not there. And someone's like, oh,
- 18:02Speaker 4: he got sent home for coronavirus-like symptoms. And we go, well,
- 18:06Speaker 4: what was that? And they said, oh, he was really
- 18:09Speaker 4: tired and coughing after his match. And then somebody goes, oh,
- 18:12Speaker 4: so he's had these symptoms his whole career? To be
- 18:17Speaker 4: name nameless, but they might be listening to this, so
- 18:18Speaker 4: I hope they pop the person that said that popped me.
- 18:21Speaker 4: So then, impromptu, I think I had to work like.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Ray, what's his gimmick name? Eric. In like a singles
- 18:30Speaker 3: in the popcorn match or whatever.
- 18:31Speaker 4: I remember I came out with like- Right before we
- 18:33Speaker 4: went out, that's when the doc said, man, this could
- 18:36Speaker 4: affect like Major stuff.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Like, I think Mania could get canceled. And we're like,
- 18:40Speaker 3: what are you talking about?
- 18:41Speaker 4: Like, the coronavirus was like a myth at this point.
- 18:43Speaker 3: You know, it was like the tooth fairy. You didn't
- 18:45Speaker 3: think it was real. You know what I mean?
- 18:47Speaker 5: It's either that Monday or the next Monday. We're at
- 18:49Speaker 5: Barclays Center. And we have like a meeting about coronavirus.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I think it's the next day because I drove home. Okay.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Triple H is like, oh, it's just like the flu. Bro.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Triple H played us a video.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Of Cuomo saying that it's not real and not to
- 19:03Speaker 4: be worried about it and to move on with your life, basically.
- 19:06Speaker 3: We had a talent meeting where they played this thing
- 19:08Speaker 3: for us. And then there's one more Raw and then
- 19:11Speaker 3: that's it. Yeah, that's it. I lose to Bobby Lashley
- 19:15Speaker 3: in like 10 seconds. No, we do the pay-per-view against
- 19:17Speaker 3: the Vikings. Okay, I get concussed. I remember that. Probably.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Ibar squishes my head with the crossbody. I remember liking
- 19:26Speaker 3: that match. No, no, it was fine. And I also
- 19:28Speaker 3: remember the crowd was.
- 19:30Speaker 4: kind of like into us and into that like it
- 19:31Speaker 4: was cool that was philly right philly philly and then
- 19:34Speaker 4: we drive to dc i managed you get absolutely smashed
- 19:37Speaker 4: by bobby lashley drive.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Home never to be seen again i wonder if i
- 19:41Speaker 3: still have the text from like irs where he's like
- 19:43Speaker 3: tell me that what the match is i'm like oh
- 19:46Speaker 3: it's gonna be a real barber yeah yeah all right
- 19:49Speaker 3: so then the world ends yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 4: That's the week the world there we had a creative
- 19:53Speaker 4: pro show that sunday that i decided was like that
- 19:56Speaker 4: we did i said this seems a little irresponsible i
- 19:59Speaker 4: said how about no fans and we'll just tape it
- 20:01Speaker 4: and put it on youtube and then i never my
- 20:05Speaker 4: travel is canceled and or whatever and the world ended.
- 20:08Speaker 3: So, okay.
- 20:09Speaker 5: So then they start doing the, the performance center shows
- 20:13Speaker 5: and Brian can't, first of all, it's not like we
- 20:15Speaker 5: were on raw often to begin with, but we'd always
- 20:18Speaker 5: get flown in. You know, like I said, we, I
- 20:20Speaker 5: said that Lashley, you know, we'd have main event matches, blah, blah, blah.
- 20:24Speaker 5: But Brian, the, the way it worked is that New
- 20:27Speaker 5: York could not fly into Florida.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:29Speaker 3: It was illegal.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Like I had to like, my wife and I were
- 20:32Speaker 4: like looking it up like crazy and trying to figure
- 20:35Speaker 4: it out.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Like you're not, You were not supposed to do that
- 20:40Speaker 3: at the time.
- 20:42Speaker 5: So I'm going to find this email. I'm going to
- 20:44Speaker 5: read you the exact email that I sent to Paul Heyman,
- 20:47Speaker 5: who was in charge of like everything at the time.
- 20:51Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? At the time he's the head,
- 20:52Speaker 3: a head of creative for Roy. Yeah. Big Hawkinson Ryder fan.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Okay. I said, this is on April 12th. Okay. On Monday.
- 21:05Speaker 5: First of all, at this time, keep in mind.
- 21:07Speaker 3: We've already been home three weeks.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been... Also... I think that cap show was
- 21:13Speaker 1: March 5th or 12th.
- 21:15Speaker 3: No, like 19th or something. Was it? Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Dude, I remember Mark drove me home from that cap show,
- 21:22Speaker 4: and we stopped at the Target by my house, and
- 21:24Speaker 4: it was like the world was ending, and I was buying.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Cans of soda and bread, because I was like, this
- 21:28Speaker 3: is crazy. I don't know what the hell's happening. There's
- 21:31Speaker 3: anything in sight.
- 21:32Speaker 5: So at this time, like I said, the year prior,
- 21:35Speaker 5: before Mania... The majority of the roster gets offered these
- 21:39Speaker 5: new deals. I did not take it. Did not know
- 21:42Speaker 5: if I wanted to stay or go. I was on
- 21:44Speaker 5: the fence, blah, blah, blah. Of course, obviously, WWE made
- 21:46Speaker 5: the decision for me. But every week, I was living
- 21:49Speaker 5: with anxiety because I'd be fucking negotiating with Carano about
- 21:52Speaker 5: this fucking deal. And leading up to this, he's not
- 21:56Speaker 5: responding to my texts. So I'm like, something's up. You know,
- 22:00Speaker 5: it's like something is just up.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Okay? So then it's Monday, April 12th. Hey, Paul.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Yeah, April 12th. Hey, Paul.
- 22:08Speaker 5: For now, Hawkins won't be able to come to TVs.
- 22:10Speaker 5: I live in Orlando, and I'm able to work singles
- 22:13Speaker 5: if you need me until he comes back. I just
- 22:15Speaker 5: want to wrestle.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Thanks, Zach. April 13th. Like, I don't know, a couple
- 22:20Speaker 3: minutes later, an hour later. Thank you, sir.
- 22:22Speaker 5: With your permission, I'm sharing your note with the chairman
- 22:25Speaker 5: as well.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I said, please do. Thanks, Paul. I got fired two
- 22:28Speaker 3: days later. Awesome. Like, your contract would have been up
- 22:34Speaker 3: in August, right? So before the 90 days.
- 22:37Speaker 5: So that was my concern. When all you guys are
- 22:39Speaker 5: getting fired, I'm like, oh my God. Because like, it's like,
- 22:43Speaker 5: I think maybe you or Heath first and the Good Brothers,
- 22:46Speaker 5: but not, like Good Brothers went together, but we didn't.
- 22:49Speaker 5: And I'm like, oh my God, are they going to
- 22:50Speaker 5: let me just fucking rot till August? That's what I
- 22:53Speaker 5: thought was going to happen.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I'm blown away with considering the way things were with
- 22:59Speaker 4: the no talent.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:01Speaker 4: With travel restrictions that they wouldn't just have you come
- 23:04Speaker 4: and kill you every week.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Okay. I want to hear something else. I'm blown away
- 23:06Speaker 3: by that.
- 23:06Speaker 5: You live in the town. You want to hear about
- 23:08Speaker 5: something else that almost happened? I don't think I've ever
- 23:10Speaker 5: said before. So Miz, right before Mania, gets COVID-like symptoms.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I don't think it was COVID.
- 23:18Speaker 4: And we- Oh, that's when they switched that ladder match
- 23:21Speaker 4: to a single weird tag representatives from.
- 23:24Speaker 3: The tag teams? Morrison had pitched.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Morrison and Ziggler- They went to bat for me to
- 23:29Speaker 5: pitch that I would replace Miz and be Morrison's partner,
- 23:32Speaker 5: which obviously doesn't happen.
- 23:33Speaker 3: And that just goes to show you how much Paul
- 23:35Speaker 3: Heyman did not want to use you.
- 23:37Speaker 5: And that would have been like a SmackDown thing.
- 23:39Speaker 3: That would have been a Bruce thing, I think. Or Eric.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I don't know who was in charge at that time.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Maybe it was Paul. But I just love that on Monday,
- 23:46Speaker 5: they know we're getting fired Wednesday.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's wild.
- 23:49Speaker 5: So, like, the writing was on the wall. And listen,
- 23:52Speaker 5: I have no... Listen, I'm glad they fired me. I
- 23:55Speaker 5: am not one of those people. Me and Brian were
- 23:57Speaker 5: in different boats. It was instant relief for me because
- 24:01Speaker 5: I'd been living with that anxiety every week. Brian saw
- 24:04Speaker 5: me negotiate with fucking Carano all the fucking time. One time,
- 24:08Speaker 5: we snuck into Hogan's Dress Room to record the podcast
- 24:11Speaker 5: or whatever that, and.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Then he came in. I mean, that's on the podcast.
- 24:14Speaker 3: We say we're there.
- 24:15Speaker 5: And then he came in to negotiate, and like, Obviously,
- 24:18Speaker 5: I turned the recorder off. I wish I didn't because
- 24:21Speaker 5: he gave me a number, and then next week when
- 24:23Speaker 5: I accepted, he said he.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Didn't say it. Man.
- 24:26Speaker 5: But I'm not a scumbag, so I didn't fucking.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I pressed stop on the recorder. Illegal anyway, but... Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 3: I'm just saying. Yeah, I just.
- 24:36Speaker 4: This firing shocked me. Shocked me to my core because
- 24:41Speaker 4: I had just signed a five-year contract the year prior.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I had been a producer.
- 24:47Speaker 4: And I just thought, and then to this day, and
- 24:50Speaker 4: I'll still say I'm still pretty, like, I would, I'll
- 24:54Speaker 4: use the word disappointed. Like, we're in this pandemic, not
- 24:58Speaker 4: even a month into it. I don't even know what
- 25:00Speaker 4: the word pandemic is until this happened, right? There's so
- 25:03Speaker 4: much uncertainty about the world and stuff, and everybody's just like,
- 25:06Speaker 4: see you guys, see ya, peace out. Like, just very,
- 25:09Speaker 4: you know, disappointed in that. Like, you know, we're a family.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Come on, get out of here.
- 25:13Speaker 4: You don't fire 40 people with, like, the uncertainty of
- 25:16Speaker 4: the world. there when you're making more money than you're
- 25:19Speaker 4: as a company than you've ever made.
- 25:20Speaker 3: It was just a very shitty thing to do.
- 25:23Speaker 4: And I'm also, I've always thought, how do they not
- 25:27Speaker 4: ask like all these people just take pay cuts and get,
- 25:31Speaker 4: come back to reality.
- 25:32Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 25:34Speaker 4: They gave us all this at like astronomical, not real
- 25:37Speaker 4: life prices. I feel like a lot of this could
- 25:39Speaker 4: have been avoided if they just talked to me.
- 25:42Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Okay. I'm going to ask
- 25:44Speaker 3: you a hypothetical question. You asked me about the figures.
- 25:47Speaker 5: If you could take back that day, would you rather
- 25:49Speaker 5: still be in WWE or be fired and do what
- 25:52Speaker 5: we've done since?
- 25:53Speaker 3: Oh, no, absolutely. No, fired. Exactly.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Fire me again.
- 25:56Speaker 3: No, but I know at the time. I'm talking about
- 25:59Speaker 3: in that moment.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I know.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I know. Of course. Of course. Yes.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Hey, everything happens for a reason. This shit all played
- 26:05Speaker 4: out in an unbelievable way. And I don't even think
- 26:08Speaker 4: if I was like a top guy in WWE and
- 26:11Speaker 4: never got fired right now, I'd enjoy it.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Like what?
- 26:14Speaker 4: Has gone on there, you know, working through the pandemic
- 26:17Speaker 4: looked like unreal zero fun.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And, you know, yeah, I, and to add on, I
- 26:25Speaker 1: think I mentioned it at some point, but there was
- 26:28Speaker 1: a point that I was getting a job. I was
- 26:31Speaker 1: really far in the job process and didn't get it.
- 26:33Speaker 3: They were trying to steal you from us.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I would have been, I would have been a road
- 26:38Speaker 1: producer for the WWE. And I thought that that was
- 26:40Speaker 1: my dream job. And I was ready to retire from wrestling.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Oh my God. You would have been whacked too, right?
- 26:46Speaker 3: There is no podcast.
- 26:47Speaker 5: No, they would have probably kept him because they got
- 26:49Speaker 5: rid of the people, like all the people.
- 26:53Speaker 3: You were making the least money probably. Yes, they would
- 26:55Speaker 3: have kept you.
- 26:56Speaker 1: They got rid of that entire department. Giancarlo, the new guy,
- 26:59Speaker 1: all those people.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he's right about that.
- 27:01Speaker 1: The entire department. But anyway, I'd be gone and I
- 27:06Speaker 1: didn't retire.
- 27:06Speaker 3: This is insane. It's insane.
- 27:09Speaker 5: And you were one of the top sellers on fucking
- 27:11Speaker 5: Black Friday, baby.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Come on. Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Uh, Greg, the Polly, uh, let's stick it to this
- 27:17Speaker 1: time period. Cause I know it's been, it's different. When
- 27:21Speaker 1: are you not, when you are not on TV, what
- 27:24Speaker 1: is a day like on a TV night as a wrestler?
- 27:28Speaker 3: Oh, that's like not, not in this time period.
- 27:31Speaker 1: No, let's keep it to this.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Like we go, we go, we, we would, this is
- 27:34Speaker 3: what we would do. We would go fuck it. If
- 27:36Speaker 3: we were doing the phone call promotions, we do a lot.
- 27:38Speaker 3: We go into a fucking, a skybox or, and do
- 27:41Speaker 3: all those fucking calls. Or we'd fucking sneak out early
- 27:44Speaker 3: and do the podcast or find a room and do
- 27:45Speaker 3: the podcast. If we weren't booked.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Around this time, in my mind, if we weren't booked,
- 27:52Speaker 4: or we'd do main event, which is like being in
- 27:54Speaker 4: that book because you're on first and you can get
- 27:56Speaker 4: out of there before Raw starts. And then we would
- 27:58Speaker 4: just go find a great restaurant with Eric Young, have
- 28:02Speaker 4: a really nice meal, and then go back to the
- 28:04Speaker 4: hotel and bang out the podcast.
- 28:05Speaker 3: It was kind of great.
- 28:08Speaker 1: That sounds good.
- 28:09Speaker 3: But they built.
- 28:10Speaker 4: they built with these big contracts, they built that like
- 28:13Speaker 4: WCW environment where there's no incentive to like work your
- 28:16Speaker 4: ass off. And then it's sad saying that, but it's true.
- 28:20Speaker 4: You know, like that's the way WCW was. You make
- 28:22Speaker 4: this much and that's how much you make. And there's
- 28:23Speaker 4: no way to make more. My first three years on
- 28:26Speaker 4: the regular contract I signed when I came back every year,
- 28:29Speaker 4: I worked my ass off and I made a little
- 28:31Speaker 4: bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more.
- 28:32Speaker 4: And you get that like one. And the way I
- 28:34Speaker 4: did it, I always got my same check every week
- 28:35Speaker 4: so I could just live my life with no surprises
- 28:37Speaker 4: or whatever. And then at the end of my contract year,
- 28:40Speaker 4: I got this direct deposit in my bank account for
- 28:42Speaker 4: a substantial amount of money that was like, Hey, look
- 28:46Speaker 4: what you did, man. You worked your ass off. You deserve, like,
- 28:48Speaker 4: that's what you do. You know, like that, that, that's
- 28:50Speaker 4: what kept you like in the hunt and hungry and shit.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Now more money. Even if I was a top guy
- 28:58Speaker 4: working every pay-per-view, I couldn't make more money than I
- 28:59Speaker 4: was making, you know, as jobber run raw guy.
- 29:03Speaker 3: It made no sense.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Yeah. I, I had not, uh, like I said, siding
- 29:08Speaker 5: that deal, but still to the fact that, like, even
- 29:11Speaker 5: if I was so, like, instead of getting miserable that
- 29:13Speaker 5: we weren't on TV, I'd be like, okay, well, Monday's
- 29:15Speaker 5: my day to do the podcast. You know, and that was, like,
- 29:18Speaker 5: our creative outlet. If I didn't have the podcast, I
- 29:21Speaker 5: think I would have been fucking crazy.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Oh, if that's all, I mean, because you wear your
- 29:24Speaker 4: heart on your sleeve in WWE and stuff, and yeah, like,
- 29:27Speaker 4: trust me, when you get there, you've flown all this way,
- 29:29Speaker 4: you've left your family, you've paid for a car and
- 29:31Speaker 4: a hotel, you know, all this stuff, and then you're
- 29:33Speaker 4: not booked, it's kind of like, well, what the, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 4: I love that I'm They did this to me to
- 29:39Speaker 4: not participate in something that i love you know it's
- 29:42Speaker 4: kind of shitty but having the podcast changed everything because
- 29:45Speaker 4: like broski said it was like such a creative outlet
- 29:48Speaker 4: and like an escape and it didn't even matter how
- 29:50Speaker 4: shitty the day was at like regular work you know
- 29:53Speaker 4: you could just kind of get away from it.
- 29:54Speaker 1: All wow that's interesting um We kind of talked about it,
- 30:02Speaker 1: but this is specific. When releases were happening, what is
- 30:07Speaker 1: your usual reaction towards the news? Do you reach out
- 30:10Speaker 1: or do you leave the individual alone?
- 30:12Speaker 3: Depends who it is, really. It depends on how close
- 30:15Speaker 3: I am with them, yeah. I still remember. This one
- 30:20Speaker 3: I got a lot of nice texts from people, phone calls,
- 30:23Speaker 3: like people that I care about, their opinion or, you know. Yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 3: same here.
- 30:28Speaker 4: My favorite part of this one is, like, we have
- 30:30Speaker 4: a group chat with Giles and Anderson. And, like, I
- 30:33Speaker 4: think I was the first one to be like, whoa,
- 30:34Speaker 4: got it. And then Broski, you know, a couple, whatever,
- 30:36Speaker 4: an hour.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Later, got it. I think I was the last one.
- 30:38Speaker 5: That's what was scaring me.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Really? But I know they were like, oh, well, of
- 30:43Speaker 3: course Hawkins and Roderick got fired. They're jobbers.
- 30:45Speaker 4: They got fired too. They said they were like side
- 30:48Speaker 4: texting that. We're such good friends that they'll just admit
- 30:50Speaker 4: something like that to us. It just kind of popped me.
- 30:54Speaker 5: I texted something like that to Rusev like, oh, I
- 30:57Speaker 5: doubt I still have it in my phone. But I'm like,
- 30:59Speaker 5: I think we're going or I think I'm going. And
- 31:01Speaker 5: then like he got released. I just sent him like
- 31:02Speaker 5: the eye emoji. He didn't respond to me.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I mean, dude, that had to have shocked so many
- 31:09Speaker 4: people and rocked so many people's worlds because of Dude,
- 31:13Speaker 4: we all just signed these deals.
- 31:15Speaker 3: What is a pandemic? What's happening? It was a pretty
- 31:18Speaker 3: ruthless day. Yeah.
- 31:21Speaker 4: We also woke up to some weird email. We have this,
- 31:25Speaker 4: when you work for WWE, there's a WWE app. They
- 31:28Speaker 4: made us all watch this video on their event.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Saying it's a dark day at the WWE.
- 31:34Speaker 5: He's looking at the camera, but not looking at the
- 31:36Speaker 5: camera is really odd.
- 31:37Speaker 3: It's really strange.
- 31:39Speaker 1: What do you mean a dark day?
- 31:40Speaker 3: They were going to let people go. Oh. And then,
- 31:44Speaker 3: to my understanding of that, was like corporate people. I
- 31:49Speaker 3: knew right away. I'm like, here we go. And the
- 31:52Speaker 3: first one that actually reached out was Pat Buck. I
- 31:54Speaker 3: just got fired. I was like, oh, shit. Yeah.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know.
- 31:58Speaker 3: I'll never forget. He's the first one I heard from
- 32:00Speaker 3: that guy let go. And it was early. It was
- 32:02Speaker 3: like 10.30 or 11 or something like that, I want
- 32:05Speaker 3: to say. That day, I'll never forget it. I had
- 32:07Speaker 3: a fucking.
- 32:09Speaker 5: jimmy's famous seafood fucking crab cake in there to fucking
- 32:12Speaker 5: ruin when first of.
- 32:13Speaker 4: All only wwe corporate can ruin jimmy's seafood man that's bullshit.
- 32:17Speaker 5: I didn't even get the call i got a text
- 32:18Speaker 5: saying please call me and i'm thinking okay well what's
- 32:22Speaker 5: it gonna be and by this point everyone was fucking
- 32:24Speaker 5: going yeah and i i've told this story before the
- 32:26Speaker 5: only like wrestling thing i have in my house besides
- 32:28Speaker 5: like my toy room in my office like it seems
- 32:30Speaker 5: like a normal house i have a a Rob Schamburger
- 32:33Speaker 5: painting of me and my dad at WrestleMania. So like,
- 32:35Speaker 5: I just stood in front of that and like smiled
- 32:37Speaker 5: and fucking got fired. I'm like, it's going to be fine.
- 32:38Speaker 5: And then I already had my pros and T set up. Like,
- 32:41Speaker 5: let's make that son bitch live now. Let's fucking go.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Good.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You, this is an interesting story. We've talked about it.
- 32:50Speaker 1: When do you, when do you call Ryan to get
- 32:53Speaker 1: this store going?
- 32:54Speaker 3: Not before.
- 32:55Speaker 4: I didn't think I was getting fired, so obviously I
- 32:58Speaker 4: didn't hit him up before.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Mine was up, and I had designs before I got fired.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I'm talking about Pro Wrestling Tees, Ryan, by the way.
- 33:09Speaker 1: When you say designs, I thought you were working on
- 33:11Speaker 1: that logo that day.
- 33:12Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 33:14Speaker 1: That MC logo. You had already made that.
- 33:16Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 33:17Speaker 5: The first logo say, like, not there, because I was doing, like,
- 33:19Speaker 5: the still here, still here, so it's, like, not there.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Got it. What was your best-selling, like, thing? What was your,
- 33:25Speaker 1: the first?
- 33:26Speaker 3: The knot there was the one I had. It was, like,
- 33:28Speaker 3: it was great. It was insane.
- 33:30Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 33:30Speaker 3: For me, at least.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Right. What a random shirt for somebody to be wearing
- 33:34Speaker 1: right now, though.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, right, yeah. Very timely.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I mean, I think it was, that shirt was more
- 33:41Speaker 5: of a, like, all right, we support this guy more than, like,
- 33:43Speaker 5: it was a cool shirt.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That's why, right away, I remember talking to Heath. I said, hey,
- 33:48Speaker 4: stop sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Get that I
- 33:50Speaker 4: got fired instead of I got kids shirt made.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Immediately and he didn't do it of course because he's
- 33:55Speaker 3: Heath and he probably.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Just forgot and then I made Johnny Clash do it
- 33:58Speaker 4: like I can't take this like be proactive it was
- 34:01Speaker 4: driving me nuts and he's like hi man I share
- 34:03Speaker 4: soul really well man I'm like oh no shit Heath.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Alright Dennis Fletcher says I just wanted to give a
- 34:15Speaker 1: shout out for Brian's tweet after he was released out
- 34:19Speaker 1: of this disaster the pro wrestling community will rise stronger
- 34:22Speaker 1: than ever Obviously, you have to be upset after losing
- 34:25Speaker 1: your dream job. What was your first plan of action
- 34:28Speaker 1: or thoughts on what was next? You made that tweet.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Dude, like the next like 48 hours are such like a,
- 34:36Speaker 4: like I couldn't sleep. I was so like, I guess
- 34:41Speaker 4: I just had this trajectory of like where my life
- 34:43Speaker 4: was headed. And this was such a curveball that just
- 34:46Speaker 4: like sweep me off my feet. I remember that first
- 34:48Speaker 4: 48 hours to a.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Week, I didn't sleep very well. I was just rocked.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Being Brian Myers, the wrestling star, was so far from
- 34:58Speaker 4: my mind. I wasn't even daydreaming about it. Like Brodsky said,
- 35:02Speaker 4: he was in a different boat because his contract was
- 35:04Speaker 4: up and he was trying to make a big decision anyway,
- 35:06Speaker 4: so obviously some of those thoughts are creeping in. I mean,
- 35:10Speaker 4: I was locked tight. None of those thoughts were creeping in.
- 35:12Speaker 4: So he just threw me wildly for a loop.
- 35:17Speaker 3: And then I guess.
- 35:18Speaker 4: which is really crazy, and then the rules have changed.
- 35:22Speaker 4: The first time I got fired, I literally wrestled the
- 35:24Speaker 4: next day, and the day after that, and I've told
- 35:27Speaker 4: this story a million times, but I got fired on Thursday,
- 35:29Speaker 4: I wrestled Friday, Saturday, I had this fun-ass tag match
- 35:32Speaker 4: with Val Venus and shit, and it was a real
- 35:35Speaker 4: kick-ass introduction to indie wrestling, and I remember my parents
- 35:38Speaker 4: had a barbecue on Sundays, and I was just sitting
- 35:41Speaker 4: there with this wad of cash in my pocket, thinking, okay,
- 35:45Speaker 4: this is going to be sick. This time, There's a
- 35:47Speaker 4: pandemic going on. I can't even go to fucking Target,
- 35:50Speaker 4: much less go to a wrestling show. You know, I
- 35:52Speaker 4: can't get that out of my system. And I also
- 35:54Speaker 4: don't know when are the indies going to be a
- 35:58Speaker 4: thing ever again at this point, you know? It was
- 36:00Speaker 4: kind of scary.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:02Speaker 4: So it's like a lot of feeling sorry for yourself almost,
- 36:04Speaker 4: but like trying to find that silver lining, but it
- 36:08Speaker 4: was tough to see.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Like Brian said, there was no indies to go do.
- 36:11Speaker 5: And even if there were, we had 90 days.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay. That's what I meant to say too.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Also, the rules have changed where the 90 days- The
- 36:17Speaker 4: old school 90 days, you just couldn't do like television
- 36:20Speaker 4: and things like that. Now it's like a flat out
- 36:23Speaker 4: real 90 where you can't do anything.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 36:26Speaker 5: I had already called Cody before I got fired, talking
- 36:29Speaker 5: to him about stuff. And also, without you guys listening,
- 36:36Speaker 5: without this podcast... We would have had no, like, of course, yeah,
- 36:39Speaker 5: we still had our 90-day pay, but you guys kept us, like, alive, really, because, like,
- 36:43Speaker 5: that pay, we didn't know when we were going to
- 36:45Speaker 5: get paid after those 90 days, in theory, you know?
- 36:48Speaker 3: Dude, I will.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Be forever grateful to the, like, flea market-esque sales of
- 36:54Speaker 4: things that I made in that, like, first month of
- 36:57Speaker 4: being fired because it was things that were no value
- 37:02Speaker 4: to me anymore because it's not part of my life,
- 37:04Speaker 4: but obviously to some wrestling fan it is, and, like,
- 37:07Speaker 4: our fans and the people in the patron, like unreal
- 37:10Speaker 4: supported us basically, you know, I'll forever be grateful for that.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 5: One, I kept not only supporting by listening to the pod,
- 37:16Speaker 5: but the patron and, uh, you know, um, buying the, the,
- 37:20Speaker 5: the merch and the, and the gear, like we had
- 37:22Speaker 5: to refund, I think it was like over 20 grand
- 37:25Speaker 5: in tickets for that live show.
- 37:27Speaker 3: We're like, cool. Good thing we didn't spend it. That's
- 37:29Speaker 3: also true.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Thank God we didn't spend it.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Like, well, that's one good thing about our business though.
- 37:35Speaker 1: We're not, we're never borrowing to, uh, Right. You know,
- 37:39Speaker 1: to put on an event.
- 37:40Speaker 5: And that's another thing. We put out this. We filmed
- 37:44Speaker 5: the live show. We did it from home. And then
- 37:48Speaker 5: we already, like, filmed it. But then we get fired.
- 37:50Speaker 5: Then we have to release it. We had to throw in, like,
- 37:53Speaker 5: a little disclaimer, like, oh, they got fired.
- 37:56Speaker 3: You know?
- 37:56Speaker 1: And then Tommy Dreamer makes that joke about it.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, shit.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Woof.
- 38:02Speaker 5: But I remember Dreamer called me almost immediately to come
- 38:07Speaker 5: to Impact. But I've said it a million times. I
- 38:09Speaker 5: knew that's where everyone was going. And I didn't want
- 38:10Speaker 5: to just go with everybody else. For me, in retrospect,
- 38:15Speaker 5: it would have been better than going to AEW maybe.
- 38:17Speaker 5: But also maybe not. Maybe it was better that I
- 38:19Speaker 5: went to AEW. It didn't work out there. So then
- 38:22Speaker 5: I kind of did my own thing. Because if I
- 38:25Speaker 5: would have stayed in AEW.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I mean, let's be honest.
- 38:28Speaker 5: I probably would be on fucking dark and elevation just.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Doing random shit.
- 38:31Speaker 5: And nothing against those guys and those shows, but I've
- 38:34Speaker 5: already been just a guy.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I don't want to be just another guy. So instead,
- 38:38Speaker 3: whether it.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Be Impact or the indies that I had fun with,
- 38:42Speaker 5: the GCW thing fell into my lap, which really kind
- 38:44Speaker 5: of changed the whole course of not only this year,
- 38:46Speaker 5: but my career. So that wouldn't have happened if I
- 38:49Speaker 5: would have signed with Impact right away or AEW. So,
- 38:53Speaker 5: you know, I don't really believe in fate, but I believe.
- 38:57Speaker 3: I say always ready all the time.
- 38:58Speaker 5: You have to be ready for any situation that comes
- 39:01Speaker 5: your way and capitalize and fucking pivot and just fucking
- 39:05Speaker 5: evolve or else you're going to fucking just fuck be lost,
- 39:09Speaker 5: especially in a fucking pandemic.
- 39:12Speaker 1: All right. This is a great question. Brian Del Pozo.
- 39:14Speaker 1: How did you guys feel about the design of your t-shirt?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Was it something you had any involvement in slash knew
- 39:19Speaker 1: was coming for a while or did the final product
- 39:21Speaker 1: and design catch you by surprise before it went on sale?
- 39:26Speaker 4: We actually had a lot of involvement in that because
- 39:27Speaker 4: the merch guys and us, we've built up such a
- 39:31Speaker 4: rapport with them over the years, and they know we're
- 39:33Speaker 4: passionate and helpful. There were some rotten ones that we
- 39:38Speaker 4: turned down, and I think we picked the best possible one.
- 39:41Speaker 4: I wasn't in love with it, but I think it
- 39:43Speaker 4: was the best one.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 39:45Speaker 5: We actually had a design made by TTD that's still here.
- 39:50Speaker 5: But like the R was my ZR and the H
- 39:52Speaker 5: in the here was Brian's H.
- 39:54Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 39:55Speaker 3: But they couldn't. Oh, wait.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Do I have that one?
- 39:57Speaker 4: It's black with white. We made like 12. There's only
- 40:00Speaker 4: like 12 in the world or something like that. I
- 40:03Speaker 4: know like BSK has one.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I have one.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:06Speaker 4: We wore it on a tour like the week before
- 40:08Speaker 4: our shirt really came out. I love that shirt and
- 40:11Speaker 4: I still love that shirt. WWE's bullshit excuse was that
- 40:14Speaker 4: still here is owned by some other clothing company.
- 40:17Speaker 5: That doesn't make sense because I have a trademark now. Yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 5: so it was a bullshit excuse, yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Okay, so, and then that shirt, that was something that
- 40:29Speaker 1: they designed.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Yeah, there was probably like six or eight designs to
- 40:35Speaker 4: choose from, and we kind of like mushed together two
- 40:38Speaker 4: of them, I want to say, if I recall correctly.
- 40:39Speaker 3: There were some really rotten ones, of course. That's very
- 40:43Speaker 3: typical WWE, though.
- 40:45Speaker 1: J.D. Dominick, who came up with the finish for the
- 40:48Speaker 1: tag title match at WrestleMania? I loved it.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Daivari, actually. No, I don't think so.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Daivari, it was one of the first things he said
- 40:58Speaker 4: to me when he told us about the match and everything.
- 41:01Speaker 5: I thought it was actually Dawson, and it's a fucking,
- 41:04Speaker 5: it's a Bret Hart-Diesel from Survivor Series finish.
- 41:06Speaker 4: It's Bret Hart-Diesel, 100%, but I think, Unless Dawson saw
- 41:10Speaker 4: Daivari before Daivari saw us, and Daivari was one of
- 41:13Speaker 4: the first people who even knew the match was happening
- 41:15Speaker 4: and what was going on, and.
- 41:16Speaker 3: He was the producer, he said it right away to me.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Either way, that was the best way. Great call, yeah.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Because what is the losing streak guy's finisher? He doesn't
- 41:27Speaker 3: have one. So there has to be some kind of
- 41:29Speaker 3: roll-up or something. And wasn't that an issue when you
- 41:31Speaker 3: were getting your figure made? Oh, that was a funny
- 41:35Speaker 3: phone call. That was like... Man, it might have been
- 41:38Speaker 3: Nicole Zioli.
- 41:40Speaker 4: She was all awkward to call me about something, and
- 41:42Speaker 4: it was because Mattel was doing the packaging, and they
- 41:45Speaker 4: didn't know what to put for finishing maneuver on the back.
- 41:49Speaker 4: They didn't want to be disrespectful or something, which is
- 41:52Speaker 4: kind of funny. And I can't remember what they ended
- 41:54Speaker 4: up going with. It's something funny, I want to say.
- 41:58Speaker 3: I don't know. That's going to drive me nuts. I'm
- 42:00Speaker 3: going to Google that right now. Okay. Okay.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Alex Mahoney, memories of the three-way you guys had with
- 42:11Speaker 1: the Usos and Revival. When did you learn you were
- 42:16Speaker 1: losing the titles?
- 42:17Speaker 3: Probably that day. At that point, like... When the.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Writing was on the wall that there was no interest
- 42:22Speaker 4: in us. I loved the Usos to death, and I
- 42:24Speaker 4: was just trying to have a good match.
- 42:26Speaker 5: Like I said, I think on the last one, I
- 42:28Speaker 5: wish we would have lost them the next day.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I don't necessarily agree with that, because I feel like
- 42:32Speaker 3: you can always overcome or whatever.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Right, but in retrospect of what would have happened.
- 42:38Speaker 3: That's why when people always give me shit like, you
- 42:39Speaker 3: had the IC title for one day.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I'd rather that than what? Right, they remember. Our reign
- 42:45Speaker 5: was fucking meaningless. I don't think we had, besides the
- 42:47Speaker 5: next night on Raw, I don't think we had one
- 42:49Speaker 5: successful television defense.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I think you're right. I don't know if Rusky will
- 42:58Speaker 3: add on to this, but the other thing that I
- 42:59Speaker 3: really remember about that day is Abyss was the producer
- 43:03Speaker 3: and he was like, unreal annoying following us around all day,
- 43:06Speaker 3: like freaking out because it's a three-way.
- 43:09Speaker 4: There's a lot of moving parts. And to be fair
- 43:11Speaker 4: in his favor, it is hard as a producer to
- 43:15Speaker 4: be like, what's next? There's so much going on. There's
- 43:18Speaker 4: really no rules. There's a lot of camera cuts and work.
- 43:21Speaker 4: He needs to be on top of it. But man,
- 43:23Speaker 4: he was like our shadow. He'd just pop up and
- 43:25Speaker 4: be like, okay, one more time. Give me some slack here.
- 43:30Speaker 4: My finisher in the back of my Elite set is
- 43:34Speaker 4: N slash A.
- 43:35Speaker 3: I love that. And finisher not available. I love it.
- 43:40Speaker 3: That's so great.
- 43:41Speaker 4: From Queens, New York. Weight 223. Height 6 foot 1 inches.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Finisher not available.
- 43:47Speaker 3: I love it. It kind of rules. All right.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Here's a clickbaity one, kind of, but I think it's
- 43:52Speaker 1: a good question, especially for this time. Joe Hersky. How
- 43:54Speaker 1: did the majority of the locker room feel about the
- 43:56Speaker 1: Saudi shows? Not looking for specifics, but just overall morale.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I don't want to get into that, but not talking
- 44:02Speaker 3: about it. I don't think There's a member of the
- 44:05Speaker 3: WWE roster that goes, all right, we're going to Saudi. Woo-hoo!
- 44:08Speaker 4: There's no person that does that.
- 44:10Speaker 3: And that was prior to the incident, we'll call it.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Marcus Avedia, when you guys teamed back up, who were
- 44:22Speaker 1: the guys you wanted to work with the most? So
- 44:25Speaker 1: let me add on to that, me, Mark Sterling. When
- 44:29Speaker 1: you guys... start being a team and they're like giving
- 44:32Speaker 1: you music and stuff like that.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Like they didn't give us good music.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:36Speaker 1: The end of the streak isn't like a plan thing.
- 44:39Speaker 1: It wasn't like, Hey, we're going to team you guys
- 44:40Speaker 1: up so that this will be the end.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Right. Right. There was no plans. Cause Vince came up
- 44:44Speaker 3: with this, like literally days before maybe, you know, like
- 44:47Speaker 3: there was never plans.
- 44:49Speaker 1: So when, when you get put together, are you like, man,
- 44:52Speaker 1: hope maybe we can have some bangers. Like what, what
- 44:54Speaker 1: is it?
- 44:54Speaker 4: In my mind, an ideal situation for me is to,
- 44:58Speaker 4: because we were never given a chance as babies just
- 45:00Speaker 4: to turn heel, because I think that would have been great,
- 45:02Speaker 4: you know, the gratitude stuff, and work with the Usos
- 45:04Speaker 4: as babies.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Or even the Street Profits. That would have been a
- 45:06Speaker 3: dream for me. What's that?
- 45:08Speaker 5: Or Street Profits. We had some, like, decent ones.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Sure, but the Usos are, like, I think, you know,
- 45:12Speaker 3: the best tech team in the world. 100%. The Street
- 45:15Speaker 3: Profits were just getting called up from NXT. Street Profits
- 45:17Speaker 3: had just been called up, and we're super green. You know,
- 45:20Speaker 3: it wasn't, like, a team to, like, have a banger with.
- 45:22Speaker 5: Yeah, we were working heel against them on live events
- 45:25Speaker 5: and overseas tour. I think we did a tribute to
- 45:26Speaker 5: the troops that no one ever saw. um i really
- 45:29Speaker 5: thought they were going to give us a shot with
- 45:31Speaker 5: the gratitude era and the heels just you know you got.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Fired james zimbicki this is a good one can you
- 45:37Speaker 1: tell us some interesting stories of the boys reacting to
- 45:40Speaker 1: you to recording the pod at the arena when you
- 45:43Speaker 1: started the pod at wb we.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Never did it like in front of the boys we
- 45:46Speaker 4: were like so secretive yeah we'd go find like first
- 45:48Speaker 4: off these are arenas that we've been going to for
- 45:50Speaker 4: fucking who knows how long you know i mean we
- 45:52Speaker 4: got we know the ins and outs like there's some
- 45:53Speaker 4: of them like I remember in Philly, I found this
- 45:56Speaker 4: amazing room in the back.
- 45:57Speaker 3: You would never find us. You'd have to be like
- 46:00Speaker 3: a lunatic walking around back there to find us. Got it.
- 46:02Speaker 4: And that's where we, I remember we pulled Natty in
- 46:05Speaker 4: and got that awesome Natty interview because it was just
- 46:08Speaker 4: too easy.
- 46:09Speaker 5: And like I said, one time we did it in
- 46:10Speaker 5: Hogan's dressing room before he got there.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Very crafty.
- 46:15Speaker 1: El Vlogstar, how do you feel currently looking back at how, ah,
- 46:20Speaker 1: this is about the build. We talked about those figures.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Anthony Diaz, What was the status of Creator Pro? Who
- 46:26Speaker 1: was in charge? Who was running it while you were
- 46:28Speaker 1: in the WWE?
- 46:30Speaker 4: I still always coached one night a week. Even on
- 46:33Speaker 4: a full WWE schedule, I would do Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
- 46:37Speaker 4: home Tuesday. I would coach, I think it's been Thursday
- 46:40Speaker 4: night for quite some time now. Thursday night's been my
- 46:42Speaker 4: night at Creator Pro.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Anthony Diaz also asks, did Broski meet Chelsea Green during
- 46:49Speaker 1: this time?
- 46:50Speaker 5: No, way before. I met her when I was out
- 46:54Speaker 5: after the high pros knee injury.
- 46:57Speaker 1: So there was during this reunion, you were reading.
- 46:59Speaker 3: No, it was during like early, early 2017 or. Early,
- 47:02Speaker 3: early 2017.
- 47:03Speaker 5: I moved to Orlando 2016, blew out my knee.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Early, early 2017.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Got it.
- 47:09Speaker 3: We get, we get engaged. This weekend. This weekend. Yeah.
- 47:14Speaker 3: We're already like together for two years at this point. Yeah. Right.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Um, brand, uh, Brandon asks, uh, if, Brian didn't break
- 47:23Speaker 1: his losing streak with Matt at WrestleMania. How else would
- 47:27Speaker 1: you have liked to break it?
- 47:29Speaker 3: With the Royal Rumble. I've never thought about it. Never
- 47:33Speaker 3: thought about it once.
- 47:34Speaker 4: And like I said, the reality was better than my
- 47:36Speaker 4: wildest dreams. So how do you answer that?
- 47:38Speaker 1: True. Win the Royal Rumble would be.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Win the elimination chamber. Squashing Lesnar. Squashing Lesnar. Streaks over.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Corbin Joslyn... Uh, can Brian discuss, uh, getting cap students
- 47:55Speaker 1: extra roles in WWE television during this time? How did
- 47:57Speaker 1: it begin? Any incidents with extra spots going wrong? Bonus
- 48:01Speaker 1: question for Mark. Favorite extra role.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Oh man.
- 48:03Speaker 4: Uh, I mean, honestly, it's just be, I just became trustworthy,
- 48:08Speaker 4: you know, like if the WWE guys in TR or whatever,
- 48:11Speaker 4: know that, you know, I, I can put my stamp
- 48:15Speaker 4: of approval on somebody.
- 48:16Speaker 3: It's not going to be a goof. Cause like, Trust me,
- 48:18Speaker 3: there's been millions of incidents.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Millions of incidents of clowns being booked for this stuff.
- 48:23Speaker 5: Our debut on SmackDown is against two fucking goofs.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Yeah, there's been more goofs than not.
- 48:29Speaker 4: So if they're just going to trust me that I
- 48:31Speaker 4: work there, that my students aren't going to do something stupid,
- 48:33Speaker 4: then it's like the more the merrier.
- 48:35Speaker 3: They can't get enough. They'd much rather that.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that when you book an extra talent,
- 48:44Speaker 1: they're lying on the paper you get a picture that's
- 48:47Speaker 1: seven years.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Old yeah it could be all kinds of crazy.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Stuff there was one guy in Boston there's a.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Dude that chased Triple H into the bathroom and took
- 48:55Speaker 4: a fake piss next to him in the urinal and
- 48:56Speaker 4: asked for like a job that's like banned for life
- 48:58Speaker 4: like shit like that right right happens all the.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Time yeah guy in Boston was like 40 something years
- 49:04Speaker 1: old hadn't wrestled in 11 years and was like yeah
- 49:08Speaker 1: they just called me.
- 49:09Speaker 4: My favorite is a homeboy who told Cone that he
- 49:13Speaker 4: tweaked his knee and then he showed up on crutches
- 49:16Speaker 4: You're an extra. What do you think you're going to
- 49:18Speaker 4: contribute to this television? show on crutches? And that's not
- 49:22Speaker 4: tweaking your knee. He was a creative pro guy though, right?
- 49:25Speaker 1: No.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Hell no. Don't ever say that.
- 49:27Speaker 1: No. No incidents with extra spots from Cap went wrong ever.
- 49:34Speaker 3: No. My favorite, Cap.
- 49:35Speaker 4: Extra thing of all time is Stan getting punched dead
- 49:38Speaker 4: in the face by Becky Lynch.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Becky, yes.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Which is also a wild thing if you look back
- 49:42Speaker 4: on it. For like, to be asked as an extra
- 49:44Speaker 4: to just get shoot punched in the face.
- 49:46Speaker 3: He took it though. There was nothing else to that.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Right. I didn't even know it was a shoot punch.
- 49:53Speaker 2: What?
- 49:54Speaker 3: I mean, bro. Come on, look.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Bro, look at it.
- 49:59Speaker 3: It's like right at the cheek. His face jiggles. He
- 50:02Speaker 3: mangles his face.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Um, And then there's also MJF's Samoa Joe spot.
- 50:10Speaker 4: I wasn't there for that, though, because I'm fired at
- 50:12Speaker 4: that time.
- 50:13Speaker 3: That's 2015.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That was pretty good. I was a doctor
- 50:17Speaker 1: a lot.
- 50:17Speaker 3: All right.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Well, that's it for the questions that we got this time.
- 50:22Speaker 1: How do we want to finalize this?
- 50:25Speaker 4: I mean, I don't want people to... I mean, a
- 50:27Speaker 4: lot of this got kind of bitter, and I don't
- 50:28Speaker 4: want people to think... No, no, no. This was an
- 50:30Speaker 4: incredible whirlwind time in my career. I think just how
- 50:34Speaker 4: it all ended just kind of shocked the fucking my
- 50:37Speaker 4: balls off of me you know kind of thing that's
- 50:39Speaker 4: all and like i said everything i was a reason
- 50:41Speaker 4: i've never been happier in my career for sure or
- 50:43Speaker 4: i've been having more fun and it all worked out
- 50:47Speaker 4: uh but just pretty pretty nuts i feel like this
- 50:51Speaker 4: would be some good stuff for you know writing a
- 50:53Speaker 4: book one day it's.
- 50:53Speaker 5: It was a whirlwind of events you know like something
- 50:56Speaker 5: like oh they might be back together to all of
- 50:58Speaker 5: a sudden no you're back together tonight to doing nothing
- 51:00Speaker 5: to no you're going for the.
- 51:04Speaker 4: It was like a whole now you're gonna get the
- 51:06Speaker 4: worst theme music in the history of wrestling.
- 51:09Speaker 5: So it was definitely a cool time you know and
- 51:11Speaker 5: we did some cool things listen we won the fucking
- 51:13Speaker 5: tag team titles at wrestlemania you call a kickoff show
- 51:15Speaker 5: call it was fucking wrestlemania to me baby i went
- 51:18Speaker 5: to japan the.
- 51:19Speaker 4: I can literally close my eyes and hear the like
- 51:22Speaker 4: the people like yes is that like spine tingling like
- 51:26Speaker 4: i don't give a kickoff show or not that was
- 51:28Speaker 4: Wrestle fucking mania.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Yes.
- 51:30Speaker 5: And it was just a great, great time. Did it
- 51:34Speaker 5: end prematurely? I mean, I want to say no based
- 51:37Speaker 5: on what has happened. I think, you know, I'm so glad.
- 51:39Speaker 5: I'm glad we got fucking fired.
- 51:42Speaker 3: I really haven't. A weird thing also.
- 51:45Speaker 4: To say and plug, which I don't think we did
- 51:48Speaker 4: last time, and if I'm wrong, just stop me.
- 51:52Speaker 3: We were supposed to be on the 24 and got cut.
- 51:57Speaker 3: But it's free on YouTube, and it's a very nice,
- 51:59Speaker 3: awesome little watch. It's all there, and it's.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Hands down my favorite thing WWE's ever made for me
- 52:05Speaker 4: about my career or whatever. It's pretty unreal. It has
- 52:08Speaker 4: clips from live podcasts. It has clips from us on
- 52:10Speaker 4: the indies. Just unbelievable thing telling our story. And I
- 52:15Speaker 4: was almost grateful it got cut from the real 24,
- 52:18Speaker 4: because then you have to have Peacock and Cypher through Becky's.
- 52:24Speaker 4: in Kofi's version of Mania, which was pretty substantial, you know,
- 52:27Speaker 4: but to get our little slice and it's, you know,
- 52:29Speaker 4: it lives on its own in WWE's YouTube, I really
- 52:32Speaker 4: suggest going out of your way to find that and
- 52:34Speaker 4: watch that.
- 52:35Speaker 3: It's pretty awesome. I agree.
- 52:37Speaker 5: I also think it's really cool that we got released
- 52:40Speaker 5: and without even telling each other, we knew we were
- 52:43Speaker 5: done as a team.
- 52:45Speaker 3: You know, like we both have. Oh, dude. We both have....
- 52:49Speaker 4: And always have had our own hopes and dreams about
- 52:52Speaker 4: this business. It wasn't even a conversation. There's a little
- 52:54Speaker 4: part of that that's, hey, together, which is great. I'll
- 52:58Speaker 4: always be grateful for that and appreciate it, especially when
- 53:02Speaker 4: you look back on shit we did when we were 18, 20,
- 53:05Speaker 4: literally fucking children in a men's world trying to survive.
- 53:11Speaker 4: And I don't think if we had each other, it
- 53:13Speaker 4: would have worked out that way.
- 53:14Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 53:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it was funny because I was talking to Raven
- 53:17Speaker 5: was at NWA this weekend. He was asking like, well,
- 53:21Speaker 5: how long have you guys known each other? You seem
- 53:22Speaker 5: pretty close. And I had to like tell him the story.
- 53:23Speaker 5: He was like blown away. You know, like it is
- 53:27Speaker 5: like when you tell the story, it's pretty fucking crazy.
- 53:32Speaker 5: Like two kids, both love wrestling, living in the same area,
- 53:35Speaker 5: not knowing each other, going to the same wrestling school.
- 53:37Speaker 3: But, you know. I mean, I've been wrestling 18 years
- 53:40Speaker 3: or whatever. I don't have any.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Anybody comparable that i've ever met that has the same
- 53:44Speaker 4: you know unless you're like shoot brothers or twins or
- 53:47Speaker 4: some shit i mean other than that i don't know
- 53:49Speaker 4: anyone you know so we've been through a lot of
- 53:52Speaker 4: a lot even like like tj and harry started when
- 53:53Speaker 4: they were kids together but they've been apart for like
- 53:56Speaker 4: basically so long now you know.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Yeah so i mean it was even that run as
- 54:02Speaker 5: weird as it was and how weirdly it ended uh
- 54:05Speaker 5: it was great and.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I love it i love it titles.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Even when it was like on its deathbed, like we said,
- 54:11Speaker 4: we were like, we were still having like pretty fun
- 54:14Speaker 4: matches on main event and then leaving and doing the
- 54:16Speaker 4: podcast and like having a steak and making money. I mean,
- 54:19Speaker 4: I just like nothing to complain about, you know?
- 54:22Speaker 3: No, no, no. All right.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Well, entertaining couple of weeks. We have not, I mean,
- 54:30Speaker 1: a couple of podcasts. We have not talked about what
- 54:33Speaker 1: the next bonus episode will be for next month. It'll
- 54:36Speaker 1: be January 15th. Bonus episodes for the Hard Foundation. So
- 54:38Speaker 1: we'll figure that out and we'll let you guys know.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Maybe we'll put up a little vote or some crap.
- 54:42Speaker 3: What if we did.
- 54:43Speaker 5: I know mine's a little different because I didn't do
- 54:46Speaker 5: as much. But what if we did from the release
- 54:49Speaker 5: to New Year's Day of that year?
- 54:51Speaker 3: That's easy. Does that work? Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Like what we did from the moment we got called
- 54:58Speaker 5: with the release? Because there are some cool things.
- 55:00Speaker 3: A lot of pod stuff. A whole AEW run.
- 55:03Speaker 5: My whole AEW run. A lot of pod stuff. The
- 55:05Speaker 5: Retro Mania. The Super 7. It could really just be
- 55:09Speaker 5: a whole fucking Super 7. Impact vignettes.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that could be a cool.
- 55:13Speaker 1: I got an AEW run in there.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Oh, shit, that's true. Yeah. I think we could do that.
- 55:19Speaker 3: What do you think, Mark? How's that sound?
- 55:21Speaker 1: That sounds great. That sounds great to me. Post. So,
- 55:26Speaker 1: height of pandemic, professional wrestling career stuff.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Wow.
- 55:31Speaker 1: We'll talk about it. All right, well, at this point,
- 55:33Speaker 1: we're out of time.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Peace. See ya. One, two, three. I'll be back, Jack.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Thank you.
