- 0:00I'm Miller Condon, welcome to our Monday shows.
- 0:02We kick off Derby week of the best weeks of the year.
- 0:06Love this week, it's Derby week. It is Derby week.
- 0:09Trent Condon, ready or not, the first Saturday in May is coming
- 0:12up. Here's what's coming up on our
- 0:14program and glad you're with us and starting your afternoon with
- 0:17Trent Condon and myself, Ken Miller, as we will take you
- 0:20until 2O clock. Scott Doctorman will join us.
- 0:23We'll recap the draft. We'll recap the Iowa Spring of
- 0:26Football extravaganza with Doc from The Athletic coming up here
- 0:30at 12:30 for Scott Dr. Mendez, 7 Hawkeyes got drafted.
- 0:36Boy, the Steelers, they love their Hawkeyes.
- 0:38It's unbelievable. Good for them.
- 0:41We'll talk Hawks with Doc and Big 10 stuff coming up at 12:30.
- 0:45At 1:00 Matt Snyder resumes his normal spot as we talk baseball
- 0:49with our National Baseball guy on a weekly basis.
- 0:52Back on Mondays going forward until well, Trent and his Co
- 0:56host get to September, which I'm guessing you'll bump him to
- 0:58Tuesdays. We've done in the past as
- 1:01football kind of elbows its way back into the top of the
- 1:03conversation, but we will talk to Matt Snyder go round Major
- 1:08League Baseball by 1:00. Well, Carlos Mendoza have been
- 1:11fired by the Mets. And if not, why not, right?
- 1:15Does he have pictures? He must, but I don't know what's
- 1:18going on here, but my good God, this.
- 1:20How do you get swept by the Rockies?
- 1:22After losing all those games in a row?
- 1:24You finally win a game and here come the God forsaken Colorado
- 1:28Rockies. I'm not a Mets fan.
- 1:29I didn't think they were going to be very good this year.
- 1:31I thought they'd be better than they were.
- 1:33Nobody saw this coming, but we'll talk baseball with Matt
- 1:36Snyder and then Bill Seals will recap what he saw at Jack Tri
- 1:40Stadium as Coach Rogers and his team went through their spring
- 1:44showcase as well. Recap of that, Some changes
- 1:47perhaps on the horizon with the women's program.
- 1:50We know that there is one addition as Carolyn McCombs
- 1:53becomes the associate head coach, but I was told over the
- 1:56weekend by a little birdie, there's still another couple of
- 1:59shoes to drop regarding his staff.
- 2:01We know Steyr's gone. Maybe a couple more names will
- 2:04not be there when they resume in October, October, November.
- 2:07We'll talk to Bill if he's heard anything along those lines as we
- 2:12talk. Cyclones at 1:30.
- 2:13Trent's plays the day, Circus Sports sponsor those.
- 2:16Another winning week for my partner Trent Condon, who's
- 2:18stacking them up. And we'll get into week #3 and
- 2:21as far as this winning streak that he is on, pretty good
- 2:25weekend lot. If you like NBA, if you like
- 2:28NHL, if you like baseball, if you like the NFL.
- 2:30The NFL draft was it was fun to follow along.
- 2:35How much I didn't watch it. I didn't watch any Saturday,
- 2:38followed on ESPN.com, but watched a Fairmount on Friday
- 2:41and saw a couple of the locals get drafted.
- 2:44Logan Jones will never have my ketchup again.
- 2:46Yes. How awesome was that?
- 2:48Did you know that? I did?
- 2:49Yeah, go again. So this.
- 2:50Isn't this is every year 57? Because it's in Pittsburgh.
- 2:54Oh, of course. Now I yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:56That makes sense. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 2:58I saw the press release that came out, I don't know, sometime
- 3:01a week or so before OK, the drafted.
- 3:03I saw that and got a chuckle and I didn't even look cause did the
- 3:06bears move to that 57 position or have they had that for a
- 3:08while? I can't even remember, you know,
- 3:09I don't remember that, but regardless, like I didn't even
- 3:11put. Kakert we're salivating over
- 3:13that potential on Friday. And they got him and they got
- 3:17him. They.
- 3:17Absolutely. Got him.
- 3:18That's the maller they need in the middle.
- 3:20Yeah, Logan Jones, I think, is going to be very good.
- 3:22I do too. I do too.
- 3:24That goes hand in hand with something I want to talk about
- 3:27on Saturday over at Kinnock Stadium.
- 3:30Did you go? Did not, wasn't able to make it.
- 3:32Jack had baseball. Then we had softball
- 3:34tournaments. Oh yeah, wasn't able to make it
- 3:35over, but watched every video clip available and couple of
- 3:40things jumped out. First, the starting offensive
- 3:42line did not have Cade Peeper in the middle.
- 3:45If you remember back, the first report that came out was a
- 3:48national report that he was coming back for his year.
- 3:50And it's kind of like, well, yeah, of course he is.
- 3:53Like this was a decision. And yeah, he might have been a
- 3:56fourth round selection, something like that.
- 3:58But all right, Peepers coming back, but Peepers coming back to
- 4:01play center. Yeah, and I've already seen him
- 4:03mocked in the first round last year or next year rather.
- 4:06Don't, don't. No, I know.
- 4:07I'm just saying. Don't do the 27th.
- 4:10Time. No, I'm not.
- 4:11I'm just saying I saw that this weekend, believe it or not.
- 4:14Who is the Minnesota? Arch Manning was #1 this year.
- 4:16Wow, that makes sense. Who was the Minnesota
- 4:18quarterback that was mocked as a first rounder?
- 4:20Yeah, Yeah. It wasn't Brosmer.
- 4:22No, it was before that. It was terrible.
- 4:25Yes. Yeah.
- 4:26And it was before calf Matt. But regardless, that shows you
- 4:28what you need to know about 20 the mock drafts a year ahead of
- 4:32time. But peeper didn't start at
- 4:34center. It was walk on Kale winter, a
- 4:37kid from Waukee Northwest. He was a starting center and we
- 4:40go back to Logan Jones. He was awful snapping the
- 4:43football his first year. Now he was transitioning from
- 4:46defensive tackle to offensive line.
- 4:48But still, if we're at this point and we've heard that
- 4:52rumbling a couple of times that Kate beeper, it's just not.
- 4:55It's such a different thing snapping the ball, having all
- 4:57the line calls, getting everybody in the right spot.
- 5:00If that's the case, how much does that change the direction?
- 5:03They're also waiting on the offensive line.
- 5:05Michael, Miss Linski trying to get that six year of
- 5:07eligibility. A guy that came in from Florida,
- 5:09he had a Florida offer, he had a Texas offer.
- 5:12Iowa doesn't normally get those guys and he's been injured.
- 5:14Basically. I don't know, 90% of the last
- 5:17five years they're waiting go to see if he's going to get a six
- 5:20year of eligibility. How many?
- 5:21Games has he played? He played a handful last year,
- 5:24but he was still a little backed up last year.
- 5:26Yeah. And I think he's a guy that
- 5:28they've always been high on, but he's always hurt.
- 5:31They can't count on that guy. Oh yeah, we're going to lock him
- 5:33in at right guard and we're good to go.
- 5:34And Peepers your center because he have that component to it.
- 5:37Even if he gets that eligibility, I don't think you
- 5:39can count on him playing 13 games next year.
- 5:41You have that one. So I just found that a little
- 5:43bit interesting. There were a couple of snaps
- 5:46that I saw from Winter that didn't have a lot of gusto
- 5:48behind him. I don't think it's anything to
- 5:50hit the panic button, but just something to maybe file away in
- 5:54the back of your mind from Saturday that I thought was at
- 5:57minimum interesting. But the most interesting thing
- 6:00is quarterback. Sure.
- 6:01And I saw three of them. You saw three fits.
- 6:04You they found the. Highlight.
- 6:05Well, I didn't get me excited. I saw that he at least they gave
- 6:07him an opportunity. So Doctor Fuller was there.
- 6:12Yes. And he reported back to me and
- 6:16he's a dentist, not a scout. I love docs.
- 6:22He thinks it's Brown. He was more impressed with Brown
- 6:25of the two. That's what I thought, too.
- 6:27And if you just take the strict scrimmage throws, he was three
- 6:32at 10. Hecklinski was 10 to 23.
- 6:33Those are the numbers that we got from Chad.
- 6:36Leisenko had those numbers. That's what he tweeted out.
- 6:39But they're taking shots down the field.
- 6:40Both guys, lots of shots down the field.
- 6:43They didn't run the ball a whole lot.
- 6:44That was another thing that stood out watching through the
- 6:46videos is they were working on the passing game.
- 6:48It was one of those kind of days, very vanilla.
- 6:51No surprise. Lester mentioned that last week
- 6:53when he spoke, that we have some new things.
- 6:55We're not going to show you guys.
- 6:57No surprise, Probably got that from the headband.
- 6:59We're not going to show anything here in the scrimmage.
- 7:01But Hank Brown, the gap that we talked about, it was probably
- 7:07unfair to put everything on Hank Brown in that Indiana game.
- 7:11He missed one pass. Portland.
- 7:13But at the same time, there was a reason that he was the kid in
- 7:16the game. Right at that time, yes, he's
- 7:18more experienced and start. In the SCC.
- 7:21I know the throw I'm sure you saw the throw the one that he
- 7:24had to Vana may yes in the end zone, who I really love by the
- 7:27way venom you've. Got you've got something?
- 7:29There, Venami, I got to get it right.
- 7:31DJ Venami, it was a dart. And that arm talent, that's
- 7:37real. When you're talking about raw
- 7:39arm talent. Hank Brown has the advantage
- 7:41there. I think it's going to be Hank
- 7:43Brown. I I went from January to up
- 7:48until Friday. It's going to be Jeremy
- 7:50Heklinski. I flipped.
- 7:52I think Hank Brown is going to be the guy.
- 7:54I think that eventually he's going to win out, but it's going
- 7:57to be close and we're not going to find out until.
- 7:58No middle of August mate. I don't.
- 8:01I don't even think that I think it'll be 20.
- 8:03Seconds somewhere around there. Third week of August, no.
- 8:05I think it'll be like right up until yes, I think it's going to
- 8:07be Wednesday, Thursday of game week before we definitively know
- 8:11Hank Brown's going to get the ball 1st or Jeremy, whoever it
- 8:14is. I think it's going to be that
- 8:15close. You know, maybe I'm trying to
- 8:17read too much into what Ference is saying, and because I'm
- 8:22trying to, as we all do, listen between the lines, if you will,
- 8:28I think it's brown. Yeah, that's where I've got to.
- 8:31You know when when you see what you see and then when you hear
- 8:33what you think, you hear it. It seems like it's going Brown's
- 8:38way. Meanwhile in Ames, I think maybe
- 8:41I'm more confused just watching the video.
- 8:43Yes, I honest to God, and I, I say this, I'll probably say
- 8:46bunch of more before I get out of here.
- 8:48I don't know how you guys are going to do it this summer.
- 8:50I truly don't. It's fantastic.
- 8:53It is if I, well, it's easy to say because I I am leaving in
- 8:58June. But if I wasn't, I would have
- 8:59gone to Ames. I would have.
- 9:00I would have kicked my butt out of there, my chair, just to see
- 9:03something because it's so difficult with all these new
- 9:07dudes on. Have they taken a step forward
- 9:10from last year to this show? I don't.
- 9:11Know. Nobody knows.
- 9:12Nobody, I mean Rogers knows. His guys, but his guys, yeah,
- 9:16All these new guys, though, you don't really know.
- 9:18You think they're developing, I guess, you know, from Practice 1
- 9:21to practice 15. Well, you have that at least
- 9:24baseline that you can go through and and figure out, but it's
- 9:27going to be Rainer. Yeah, I think so too.
- 9:29And it's going to be Conrarty. Well, that's the.
- 9:33That's the gift. Is that the easiest one?
- 9:34Boy, it sure seems like it. Right.
- 9:36Yeah. What was he?
- 9:37He was warming up from the 50. Did I Did I see that from
- 9:40somebody? I think maybe Alec had that He
- 9:42he was warming up from the 50s just with ease.
- 9:44Yeah, no problem at all. Pounded him in.
- 9:46He really. Wow.
- 9:47What a leg. It really he does, absolutely
- 9:50does. Speaking of legs, but moving
- 9:52back to to Iowa City, Drew Stevens is getting an
- 9:55opportunity. I was shocked, Trent, that he
- 9:58didn't, not that he didn't get drafted.
- 9:59That didn't blow me away, but then right afterwards that all
- 10:02these free agent signings, that he wasn't one of them, you know,
- 10:05anywhere. In terms of leg talent, is he
- 10:09the most talented guy that's gone through there?
- 10:11Oh boy. Now you had Marshall.
- 10:15Kicked for a long. Time he did, but he didn't have
- 10:17that 60 plus range. OK, he was Kirk also didn't give
- 10:21him any opportunities. But even in the NFL, and I know
- 10:23different era we're talking about completely different era
- 10:26than it is today. Marshall Kane had the what was
- 10:28that 56 yarder to beat Pitt? That one's stuck by to get
- 10:32there. I think Drew Stevens has the
- 10:35most talented leg that has gone through there and there's been a
- 10:37lot of good ones throughout the last 27 years.
- 10:40But that's also the mental part of it.
- 10:42And you think of the slumps that he's had during his career
- 10:45didn't get the opportunity we. Didn't see that last year.
- 10:47Though, but we saw misses. What do you have?
- 10:484 misses between 40 and 49. That's including one that would
- 10:53have given the lead against Indiana going back to that game.
- 10:56And the Hank Brown miss, Well, we also maybe should put
- 10:58something on the kicker there too.
- 10:59He had a field goal that would have given the lead.
- 11:02There was too much of that and a guy that lost his job for a
- 11:05kick. They never got another
- 11:07opportunity because I wouldn't score a point right in the in
- 11:10the final two games against Michigan.
- 11:11Attendance, we were all waiting. It was a big talker leading up
- 11:14to both of those games is what parents gonna do.
- 11:16What are they gonna handle this? He got to kick off twice to
- 11:20begin 2 halves. That's it.
- 11:22That's the only opportunity that we got to see him.
- 11:25I think that's probably that would be the knock against him
- 11:27is just the inconsistency even with all that talent.
- 11:30But he's going to go to Washington, get a mini camp try
- 11:33out, which is nothing guaranteed.
- 11:34Nope. It's even from that spot.
- 11:36Incredibly difficult to even get a camp invite out of that.
- 11:39But. Very few do.
- 11:41Maybe some will. And I'm sure the special teams
- 11:43coach, whoever it is at Washington's going to see that
- 11:45leg and say, whoa, look at this guy, put it together even for a
- 11:49mini camp, though, and give himself that opportunity because
- 11:52he is talented. It's just the question between
- 11:54the years a little bit, I think. I'm looking up.
- 11:57I don't recall Washington's incumbent kicker, Jake Moody.
- 12:01Jake Moody's there. He flamed out.
- 12:03Where did he flame out? He flamed out in.
- 12:06He was in LA was he not? With the Charger, Yes.
- 12:09Yeah, Charger, I want to say big.
- 12:12Chargers That sounds right. They.
- 12:13Flamed out, flamed out somewhere and then got his and was a bear
- 12:16for a. Minute he was, yeah, I wanted
- 12:18him to continue as a bear because I am not a big Santos
- 12:22fan, but he hit big ones down the stretch, so I guess he can't
- 12:24get too mad about him. But Moody's another guy, San
- 12:27Francisco, you hear about talent.
- 12:29Dicker the kicker. Dicker the kicker is with the
- 12:31Chargers. Jake Moody's, another guy with
- 12:33leg talent that you hear a lot about, but you can meet miss a
- 12:38couple people, don't forget. I mean the same thing with Nate
- 12:40Kaden. Bring that up to a chart.
- 12:41Bring Nate Kading up to a Charger.
- 12:43Especially in the playoffs. Especially in the playoffs.
- 12:45He went from what? Was he one of the most accurate?
- 12:47Kickers. Yeah.
- 12:49There was one kick though, I recall.
- 12:50Kading, that was Was it to beat the Patriots?
- 12:52It might have been, and it was it a quagmire.
- 12:54The one I'm thinking of was a quagmire.
- 12:56There was one year against The Jets 2.
- 12:58Maybe he had to miss. A playoff game and it was at the
- 13:01field was just all chopped up. I, I, I don't recall, don't
- 13:06recall what year it was who they were playing, but I do recall
- 13:08the circumstances around. I got a couple here for you,
- 13:12Nick Kating, despite being a highly accurate regular season
- 13:15kicker. Remember for missing critical
- 13:17field goals in the playoffs. Most notably O for three in a
- 13:201714 loss to The Jets in 2010. Also missed a potential game
- 13:25winner in 2004 and a 54 yarder in the 2006 playoffs.
- 13:30Yeah, I missed some some kicks in some big spots, no doubt
- 13:33about that, but had a heck of a a career.
- 13:36I want to talk a little NBA with you because I wanted this
- 13:39Minnesota. What a day to be a Minnesota
- 13:40sports fan. With the exception of your twins
- 13:42on Saturday. Who let the state down, Trent?
- 13:45Condon, that's all right. It's it's going to be a lot of
- 13:48down times with the twins this year.
- 13:49After our buddy Matt Boldy won it in overtime for for the Wild
- 13:54and by the way, Joe Donald's going to join us tomorrow.
- 13:56The voice of the Minnesota Wild will preview game five of just
- 13:59after 12:30 tomorrow. So look forward to that with Joe
- 14:02O But I want talk about the basketball game because man, oh
- 14:06man, I guess I'm starting to realize just how, I don't know,
- 14:14not starstruck of this, the run of bad luck that Minnesota
- 14:19sports fans have incurred in the in the length of time that is
- 14:23stuck with them. I mean to lose one of the best
- 14:25players in the freaking sport in Ant now the someone who was
- 14:29unbelievable, I want to see him do it again tonight 43, I mean
- 14:33unbelievable. Did you have that on your bingo?
- 14:34No, I don't think he he made every free throw.
- 14:37I think he made all of his. Three.
- 14:38All five of them, which is a lot for him.
- 14:40That's a lot of value. For Bull, look, we both loved
- 14:42him in Illinois and thought he'd be a good pro, yes.
- 14:45Now we didn't think. We'd score see him score 43 in a
- 14:47playoff, no? He's there, a rotational piece
- 14:49on a good playoff team, like an eighth guy.
- 14:51Yes, going to get some minutes, maybe a dozen.
- 14:54Show up, do his job. He's a free agent at the end of
- 14:58this year. Just have to wonder what a time
- 15:00to be a free agent. However, Denver is a double
- 15:03digit favorite here tonight as as Minnesota will have an
- 15:07opportunity to assault this bad boy away.
- 15:09But just the the run of luck that Minnesota sports fans have.
- 15:13I mean, Ant is out for you're not going to play in this
- 15:16series, right? And then they would get in all,
- 15:20they would get San Antonio next, correct?
- 15:22Correct. Yes.
- 15:24And wembe is. Right.
- 15:28I don't know. I think they can beat Denver.
- 15:32I I do. I'm not saying just got to win
- 15:33one more. Just got to win one more.
- 15:35I'm not saying it's going to happen tonight.
- 15:36To be surprised. By the way, NBC's got that game
- 15:39at 9:30. Tonight, yeah, they've had a N.
- 15:41BU HO930 broadcast tonight. We'll see.
- 15:46We'll see where it goes, but just a really good, good story.
- 15:50Stephen Chenzis tears his Achilles one minute into the
- 15:54game. And then it got worse.
- 15:56It did. Other than the scoreboard,
- 15:57right? Which was in your favor?
- 15:59On it and then you get into the final seconds and once again you
- 16:01got McDaniels mixing it up, hitting a layup as.
- 16:04I thought Joker was going to kill him.
- 16:05I thought he was too. I mean, to just directly go
- 16:08right at him. I'm like, oh boy, this is going
- 16:10to be even worse than what it turned out to be.
- 16:12And it's too bad if you're rooting for the T Wolves that he
- 16:14didn't take a swing at him because he probably would have
- 16:16been suspended for tonight. So before they had announced
- 16:20that Ant's going to be out at minimum a couple of weeks.
- 16:22We know Divincenzo's out obviously with the Achilles,
- 16:26but. But it's odd watching that that
- 16:29ligament roll up the back of the leg, isn't it?
- 16:31God. I'm pondering all right down 31.
- 16:34I don't like what McDaniels did. Didn't know that Ant was going
- 16:36to be out but I wondered what the price was and I couldn't
- 16:39find a price. I couldn't find a price.
- 16:40For tonight's game or for this? Series for Denver to come back
- 16:43and win the final three games well, I finally found it this.
- 16:45Would be a good price. And you figure three straight
- 16:48games for Denver now. They're a big favorite tonight,
- 16:50but still, they're probably getting better than two to one.
- 16:53You have to be. Plus 1/25 on a team down 31 to
- 16:57come back to win the series. You can only get the.
- 17:00Next to be Ant. Oh that's yes, without Ant 3
- 17:03consecutive 2. I wonder what?
- 17:05The price would be if he was playing it would be north of.
- 17:08Two, yes, absolutely, plus 250. Maybe something in that lane?
- 17:11Seven to five to two, rather, yeah.
- 17:13That's, I think, kind of the price that I was looking for
- 17:15'cause I was probably gonna grab a 2, but now you can't.
- 17:18No, not at that price. So what would it be to roll
- 17:20over? About the same would it be?
- 17:23So I took, you know, one of those calculators and it spit
- 17:27out like plus one O 2 so you can get a little bit because
- 17:31normally rolling over is the best way to do the way.
- 17:32To do it, yes. But we also don't know exactly
- 17:35what the price is going to be. Muddy line for Game 6IN
- 17:38Minnesota, right? Maybe -300 So it's -500 tonight
- 17:42-300 in game six and then backed about -500 in Game 7.
- 17:47That's what I put it. Would be that big in Game 7?
- 17:49Would it really? It may.
- 17:49It might even be higher than that.
- 17:51I mean, they've won two in a row and it's not coming back.
- 17:54No Minnesota sports. So the Wild haven't won a
- 17:58playoff series in over a decade. And I thought that they were
- 18:00about to be down three one in that series.
- 18:03What a what a game. God, that's a great series.
- 18:05And they've made how many playoffs during that time?
- 18:07Like 7 to the last 10 years? And in hockey too, A sport that
- 18:11is. The State of Hockey.
- 18:12Sets itself up in a way where you see more upsets, you see
- 18:15more variants certainly, than you do in the NBA playoffs.
- 18:18Jim Rose got to the Western Conference finals twice, and for
- 18:21the first time in 20 years, they.
- 18:22They seed their playoffs. They unlike the NHL.
- 18:26The baseball team went 20 years without winning a playoff
- 18:29series, even though they made the playoffs almost half the.
- 18:31Time they had to face the Yankees.
- 18:33Almost every time and they get beaten.
- 18:34And even if they didn't, they get beat, finally get over the
- 18:37hump and then they tear the team down.
- 18:39And then you have that football team.
- 18:42To think City has four professional the BIG4 and to not
- 18:49even get to a championship event in now 35 years.
- 18:54Jesus. Any city can complain about
- 18:57their team and their teams and everything else, but to have the
- 19:00four major ones, Yeah, when the red.
- 19:01Sox sucked this. The Bruins had won.
- 19:02The Celtics had won, right? And, of course, the Patriots,
- 19:05right? New York different, right?
- 19:07Detroit. I mean, you go through the the
- 19:09cities that have had four, there is nothing that can measure up
- 19:13to 35 years without one of the four making it to the
- 19:17championship. Not winning, just making.
- 19:18Just making it, yeah. Just getting there.
- 19:23It's unbelievable. It truly is.
- 19:24It truly is. By the way, just real quick,
- 19:27since it's NHL playoff time, did you see the the end of the
- 19:32Anaheim Edmonton game last? Night I did and I was waiting
- 19:35for your help. I had that in my notes.
- 19:37I wanted to get your perspective on it because I can't wrap my
- 19:40mind around it, right? Help me out.
- 19:41OK, I'm a Canadian. I want to get that out there
- 19:44right off the bat. I have no idea how that was
- 19:49called a goal. I do have a pretty good idea
- 19:52that the puck crossed the goal line.
- 19:54In fact, it did cross the goal line, but you can't see it and
- 19:58I've seen time after, whether it's an offside, whether it's a
- 20:02gold, a puck in a goalie's glove.
- 20:04If you don't have definitive proof, then you cannot uphold
- 20:10that. Call the referee.
- 20:12There's four referees on the ice.
- 20:14All right, Pictures of this in your mind?
- 20:17One of them is at center ice. A linesman was on the blue line.
- 20:23The other linesman was between the goal line and the blue line
- 20:27on the boards, and the other referee was standing at the
- 20:31bottom of the circle. But on the boards, the puck goes
- 20:36in well. Anaheim players raised their
- 20:39arms, raised their sticks. They've won the game in
- 20:42overtime. They're up 31.
- 20:44The referee that was the closest event originally waves his arms
- 20:49like you would do a safe call only, no goal.
- 20:52Oh, that's what that is. No goal, OK.
- 20:54Didn't see it, did not go in. They get together in 90 seconds
- 20:59later, the guy at center ice, the guy on the blue line, the
- 21:02guy halfway between the goal line and the blue line, and the
- 21:05guy who wasn't where he was supposed to be decide not to go.
- 21:08That's a goal. They go to video review and
- 21:13somehow the cull was upheld. The cull was upheld in my
- 21:18opinion, because it was ruled a goal on the ice.
- 21:21And I have no idea who saw that puck cross the goal line because
- 21:25it was under the goalie skate. Was the puck in?
- 21:28Absolutely was. I want to make that very clear.
- 21:31That's a goal, but you can't tell.
- 21:34And when you can't tell, you can't award a goal.
- 21:37I have, no, I have no idea how they did.
- 21:40I truly don't. Now we like to put on our
- 21:43tinfoil hat. I'm not wearing a tinfoil hat
- 21:45here. I don't know how to make that
- 21:46call. Is there a call, is there an
- 21:49earbud in the elite official's ear that says, let's get this
- 21:53right, That was a goal. I don't, I think so, because as
- 21:55I was seeing it last night on SportsCenter, I had the volume
- 21:58down, so I wasn't listening to the commentating and I just saw
- 22:00it and I, well, I had to go to replay and they had to have
- 22:02something that yes, that's a goal.
- 22:04That's not what this was. This was the group of officials.
- 22:07The group of officials got together again, the guide center
- 22:10race, the two linesman and the and the referee that was
- 22:13completely out of position. He should have been behind the
- 22:15goal. He wasn't.
- 22:17They decided that puck is in when none of them had that were
- 22:21in the right spot to call that a goal on the ice goes to New York
- 22:25or to Toronto. I think in this case is where it
- 22:27goes to. And they upheld the call because
- 22:30the the referees on the ice called it, somehow called it a
- 22:34goal. They just went against
- 22:37everything they have ever said. It kind of reminded me in some I
- 22:42thought you would put bring up the the TV show in college
- 22:44football that it changes every week.
- 22:46I have no idea because again, if this you can't definitively see
- 22:50it's offside when they go to replay the call stands.
- 22:53Likewise when the puck crosses the goal line.
- 22:55If it's in the goalies glove and you can't tell, it's no goal or
- 22:59the call on the ice. Edmonton's cooked now.
- 23:03I, I thought Edmonton wouldn't make the playoffs.
- 23:06I, I just, I didn't, I don't have a ticket on them.
- 23:08So this isn't me being a, a Homer Canadian or B someone
- 23:11that's got a, an interest from his from my betting ticket.
- 23:15I just think that they got it wrong.
- 23:17I think they got it right, but I think the way they went about it
- 23:21was wrong. I think it's a goal, but you
- 23:23can't tell and therefore. You're not supposed to award the
- 23:26goal. You're not.
- 23:27Because you can't tell. I liked it.
- 23:30Well, you got Anaheim. Yes, I know so does Palm in a
- 23:33big way. But anyways.
- 23:35What kind of ratings are we going to get for an Anaheim,
- 23:38Utah Western Conference final that be second round series it
- 23:42would be, yeah. That's right, because Utah
- 23:43crossed over. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:46To the Pacific. Not good, not good.
- 23:51I hope we get a Colorado who's already advanced.
- 23:53Give me the wild, man. Come on, Wild.
- 23:56Get this done. I hate the wild.
- 23:57But are you? I mean.
- 23:59You I think it's great for this market.
- 24:01If Minnesota gets there. I don't hate the Wild.
- 24:03There's Winnipeg's rival. I don't think they consider
- 24:07Winnipeg their rival. Who is their rival?
- 24:09Chicago. Chicago or Saint Louis probably,
- 24:11or maybe Colorado, 'cause they're always at the top of the
- 24:13stand. Absolutely.
- 24:16Anyways, we'll take a time out. We'll come back before we go to
- 24:18break. And if if you were listening at
- 24:20the top of the hour, I have no idea that got in there.

- 25:16us every Monday to kick off the second hour right now.
- 25:18Scott Dockerman from the Athletic.
- 25:20Lot of ground to cover with you, Doc Thanks for popping on.
- 25:23How are you, Scott Dockerman? I'm doing well.
- 25:26How's it going today? Doing fine, a lot of like you
- 25:29say I got a lot of things I want to get to.
- 25:31I guess we should start with the and this just broken.
- 25:33If this is catching off guard, I apologize, but this broke within
- 25:37the last 20 minutes that Brendan Soresby, who signed with Texas
- 25:41Tech, is checking himself in a gambling addiction program and
- 25:46apparently he bet significant amounts of money, Doc, when he
- 25:51was before he got to Cincinnati. I know that it was in Indiana,
- 25:55he wasn't playing, was redshirting.
- 25:57But here we go again. Have you are you familiar with
- 26:01the story enough to comment on it, Doc?
- 26:03Or is it too early? I know a little bit about it
- 26:06because Ralph Russo and Justin Williams are working on it right
- 26:10now for us. And it does seem like, I mean,
- 26:14that this is an issue that, you know, kind of reminds us all of
- 26:19what happened a few years ago. And, and automatically anytime
- 26:22you start to see this. So I, I don't know how much I
- 26:25want, I want to speculate as to what happened or didn't happen.
- 26:28And, you know, he did do it at Indiana and he's going into
- 26:32rehab for gambling addiction. I, I'm curious as to what the
- 26:36NCAA does over this because if the president is what happened
- 26:41at Iowa, then he'll should never play again.
- 26:43I mean, you know, if you're going to suspend Noah Shannon
- 26:46for his final season over a $20 bet for the women's final 4,
- 26:50then and, and then you should do the same thing for everybody.
- 26:53And, but obviously that's not the case because they realized
- 26:57in retrospect that it was heavy-handed, which we all knew
- 26:59at the time. But but anyway, as far as
- 27:02anything beyond that I I I can't really comment.
- 27:06You look back upon that in the Iowa and Iowa State story and
- 27:08the guys that careers were taken away, how much jurisdiction does
- 27:13the NCAA have? I mean, that was an
- 27:15investigation through the state and that's where the
- 27:17investigation came from. Can the NCAA now go to Brendan
- 27:21Sorsby and say, hey, we need records, we need your cell
- 27:23phone. We need all these different
- 27:25things to see if there was a bet on an Indiana football game
- 27:28while he was there or an Indiana baseball game or basketball game
- 27:31or whatever it is. Does the NCAA have that kind of,
- 27:34I guess, subpoena power to make that happen?
- 27:36No, it it doesn't. And that's probably why, you
- 27:40know, they relied heavily on the state investigation from DCI
- 27:44that that, you know, that went to the the football and the
- 27:50athletic facilities of both institutions and pinged
- 27:53everybody and, and got that information, you know, through
- 27:56the geofence. And that's what they used to to
- 27:59sideline everybody. And it really wrecked, wrecked
- 28:03Iowa's baseball season. It hurt Iowa's football season.
- 28:06Certainly it did, you know, did a lot of damage to Iowa State
- 28:09football. You know, Hunter deckers who
- 28:13ironically placed gamblers, you know.
- 28:16You can't make that up. And I know when he got drafted
- 28:19there I went what? But you know, I think, you know,
- 28:24we all now with the benefit of what 3 or 4 years now, you know,
- 28:28have the have the the benefit of looking back and understanding
- 28:32that it was, it was pretty hardcore the the penalties
- 28:35before. But you also have to respect the
- 28:37integrity of the game. And if you know, Arlen Bruce bet
- 28:42on the under in an Iowa Northwestern game in which he
- 28:45took a reverse and scored and and put him on the over, which
- 28:48is hilarious. And you think about it, you
- 28:50know, but you know, you can't have that kind of thing going
- 28:54on. And So what Brandon Soresby did
- 28:56and how he bet needs to be, you know, investigated as best as he
- 29:01can. And if he's not able, if, if
- 29:04it's proven that he was involved in some sort of scheme that I
- 29:09think it, you know, I don't think you should play ever
- 29:11again. I mean, you know, the, the, the
- 29:13basis has been set. Otherwise, you scapegoat Iowa
- 29:16and Iowa State worse than you already have.
- 29:18And Iowa seems to be the scapegoat right now for
- 29:20everything when it comes to the NCAA.
- 29:22You know, it's like, admit you're tampering and you're
- 29:25going to get dinged. So anyway, I think that it all
- 29:29it needs a thorough investigation, however they can
- 29:33do. It yeah, Texas Tech was counting
- 29:35on him is the QB. I think they invested 5 million
- 29:37was the number that I saw at some point.
- 29:40So we'll see where it goes. Certainly something interesting
- 29:43to and what do you do if you're if you're a DraftKings, a Circa
- 29:47a fan? Do you take them off the board
- 29:49until you get there's any clarity if their starting
- 29:51quarterback is going to there be there?
- 29:53I would guess they have to, you know, stop taking futures on
- 29:56Texas Tech. I know I would if it was my
- 29:57company. Anyways, let's move on.
- 29:59Doc Kennick Stadium Saturday, the two quarterbacks going.
- 30:05I guess that's where most eyeballs are, or were.
- 30:08Where were yours, Doc? What did you see?
- 30:10My eyeballs were mainly my screen doing the NFL draft, but
- 30:14I did peek up every now and then to watch the quarterbacks and,
- 30:18and as much as I could. And I and I knew going into it.
- 30:22I had a side conversation with Tim Lester on Saturday morning
- 30:25before the practice started. And he told me, look, we've got
- 30:28a couple of receivers who are going to be out.
- 30:30We're not going to be able to do anything that we really want to
- 30:32do here. It's just well, but it's a
- 30:34beautiful day and let's practice.
- 30:37And that's kind of what I got out of that, which was it's day
- 30:4215 or the 15th practice. It's not any different than any
- 30:47of the others I looked at, you know, how they competed.
- 30:50They both looked the part at times.
- 30:54I probably skewed a little bit more towards Jeremy at Kolinsky.
- 30:57I thought he maybe was a little crisper in some ways.
- 30:59But Hank Browns, sure, there was a nice pass and kind of has
- 31:03that, you know, tall, you know, build that.
- 31:06I think a lot of people like it on the quarterback position, but
- 31:09we know that this thing is not going to be solved.
- 31:12I mean, I would be, I'd be surprised if it's solved before
- 31:15Iowa State week. You know, I think it's, it's
- 31:18probably one that's going to go all the way through the end of
- 31:21August. Maybe they'll name a starter,
- 31:23but I I don't know that it'll be finalized until maybe Cy Hawk
- 31:26week. Well, one guy that has some big
- 31:28shoes to fill is Chris Palizi, the new special teams
- 31:31coordinator. Not just taking over for Lavar
- 31:33Woods and what a great job he did, but you're also revamping
- 31:36everything from long snapper to kicker to punter.
- 31:39Oh, by the way, you also just returned maybe the best returner
- 31:42in Iowa history and Kate Weechin, who becomes a fourth
- 31:44round pick for the Steelers. Palizzi, you know it's not going
- 31:47to happen, but it's probably feels like a position a a coach
- 31:50that is going to need a little bit of grace because he's got a
- 31:53lot of work in front of him. Right.
- 31:56You don't just replace those players and expect it to go, you
- 32:00know, to remain the same. I think, you know, punter
- 32:03certainly had a drop off when Reese taken took over for Tori
- 32:07Taylor because Tori Taylor is one of the best ever do it in
- 32:10college sports. And and I think this year, you
- 32:13know, there's still some question marks.
- 32:15They've been pretty inconsistent from way it sounds and the
- 32:17kicker has been pretty inconsistent as well.
- 32:20And that's that's probably even scarier in my eyes.
- 32:23I mean, putter is like a weapon that you can use and obviously
- 32:28highway used it with a great defense for a while there to
- 32:30help them win games. But I think with a kicker, you
- 32:35know, you're going to be in some close contest and you need that
- 32:38edge. And so I'm, I'm curious as to
- 32:41how that's going to shake out. And, you know, and, and I'm, I'm
- 32:46kind of heard mixed signals. I'm not going to basically say
- 32:49that it's it's over, it's bad, but just mixed signals.
- 32:53Yeah, kick returner. I always had a lot of really
- 32:55good ones. And so I, I am interested to see
- 32:59how that shapes out. Kaden Legion was the best, but
- 33:02you know, Amir Smith Marcette ranks second all time and kick
- 33:05returning average and Charlie Jones is pretty good and and
- 33:08Cooper Dujean was really good. So I don't know that they'll
- 33:12have that big of a step down there.
- 33:14It's just he was so rare in that that he was fast, but he had
- 33:18such great feel and, you know, was lower body physical
- 33:23strength. And and so, you know, Zach
- 33:25Lutner could certainly be a great pump returner for them and
- 33:28do a nice job, but not have the the explosive plays.
- 33:31Maybe that the King Legion, because not very many other
- 33:34players will ever do it too. He's second.
- 33:36He's all, you know, the leader in all time punt return average
- 33:39and 2nd kick return touchdowns in Big 10 history.
- 33:43Unbelievable. Scott Doctorman from The
- 33:45Athletic is our guest. Doc 7 Hawks drafted number of
- 33:49others that are going to have opportunities here coming up.
- 33:51But of the drafted of the drafted Hawkeyes, Doc was the
- 33:55one that surprised you. Where he went either was there
- 33:58later than you thought or much earlier than you thought when
- 34:01you just went pursuant to the Iowa players that heard their
- 34:04name called. What was the the shock or the
- 34:06surprise, if there was one for you?
- 34:09I was, I was surprised that Caden Legion went in the fourth
- 34:12round. I, I didn't know that he would
- 34:13go that high. I thought, I thought maybe
- 34:16fifth, sixth round for him because he's doing it as a kick
- 34:21returner and it's very important in today's football, no question
- 34:24about it. Especially now with the kick
- 34:26return rules just being a little different that he almost have
- 34:29that position playing like a punt returner, which is really
- 34:32helpful. So I would say that was a
- 34:34surprise for me that he went that, you know, that high.
- 34:38I thought maybe Jennings dunker would be a second rounder.
- 34:42And then you know, when when you have such a deep class as Iowa
- 34:45did. And I mean, they had seven guys
- 34:47picked and, and you know, they could have had a couple more to,
- 34:50you're always kind of surprised on who got left out.
- 34:53And, you know, I, I kind of thought Xavier Wampa would get
- 34:55picked. I mean, I, I, I thought his, he
- 34:58had a really nice senior year, you know, definitely has some
- 35:03strengths as far as physical qualities goes.
- 35:05And, and so I, I thought he would get picked and, you know,
- 35:08he ran a sub 4-5 at the combine. So going to Kansas City, I think
- 35:13he he's going to have a real chance to make that team.
- 35:15And, and, you know, and Mark Gronowski was kind of another
- 35:17that I thought, you know, quarterbacks are kind of who you
- 35:20like and who you, you know, don't like.
- 35:22And I, I figured he'd have an opportunity.
- 35:24I just thought he might sneak into the back half of the of the
- 35:27seventh round. Doc, you were in charge of
- 35:29grading the what odd number picks in the first round of the
- 35:32draft. You and Nick Baumgartner over
- 35:34there at the Athletic. I got to go to 25.
- 35:36I know it's a team that you keep your eye on just a little bit.
- 35:38The Chicago Bears, Dylan Finneman and an A+ from.
- 35:46Yeah, I was all over the place with the Bears because the next
- 35:47night I gave him AD on the receiver.
- 35:50But what it was fantastic for Chicago.
- 35:53I did not expect vitamin to be there and and to be there at 25.
- 35:58It was, you know, kind of like, wow, you know, I I expected the
- 36:01Vikings to take him because he's kind of a Harrison Smith clone
- 36:04and maybe a little faster even. And and so for him to get past
- 36:07Minnesota and for Minnesota to take, you know, Caleb Banks,
- 36:11who's kind of freakish athletic talent, but also, you know, and
- 36:15lost only played three games last year for injuries.
- 36:17I thought that was a risk for Minnesota.
- 36:19But I think, you know, conversely, the Bears filled an
- 36:22immediate need with the best player available.
- 36:25And and that's the the marriage you really like.
- 36:27And and for him to get that far deep, that was that was as good
- 36:30as it gets. And then as I said, you know, I,
- 36:32I thought the bears whiffed big time on its defence.
- 36:36I mean, it was one of the IT was 27th and and rushing yards.
- 36:40It was about 5 point yards, 5 point O yards per carry last
- 36:44year and did not get a defensive tackle until really late to not
- 36:49get an edge rusher. I understand that it's a three
- 36:52tight end league now. You want tight ends, you want a
- 36:55gadget guy on offense, Yeah. But you sometimes you're going
- 36:58to have to stop the run in the fourth quarter and they don't
- 37:01have anybody to do that now. I, I think that that's going to
- 37:03be, you know, that division is so close that a couple of games
- 37:10could swing you from first to worst.
- 37:11You know, because Detroit's not a bad team by any stretch, but
- 37:14they finished last in the league in the division, and next year
- 37:17they could very well beat first again.
- 37:19Yeah, they got a fourth place schedule when it yeah, you
- 37:21mentioned that the the kid from LSU, the receiver Dame burglar
- 37:25had him in the seventh round and and he wasn't alone.
- 37:29I mean, most mockers had him that late, if drafted at all.
- 37:32I mean what what happens in a case like that Doc?
- 37:36That is really interesting. And I think they not only do
- 37:39they reach, but it's it's kind of like when a coach falls in
- 37:42love with somebody or a scout does and all of a sudden they
- 37:46get anxious and they get nervous and they want to make sure they
- 37:50get that guy in the worst way possible and and they overreact.
- 37:52I mean, I remember this is a couple years ago when the Lions
- 37:56drafted Sam Laporta and Jack Campbell.
- 38:00They they had like the most perfect draft up until the late
- 38:04third round. And and Brad Holmes got anxious
- 38:07and he wanted a guy so badly that he traded up into the late
- 38:11third round for for a guy named Broderick Martin, a defensive
- 38:14tackle, I think from Western Kentucky.
- 38:15He didn't even go to the combine, wasn't on anybody's
- 38:19radar. It was a free agent by Dane and
- 38:22and within two years he was cut. And and I'm not saying, you
- 38:25know, this guy could be the next Devin Hester for all I know.
- 38:27But I don't like the idea of getting a seventh round talent
- 38:32in the third round. You got to let the board come to
- 38:34you is what they say. And I think the Bears by by
- 38:37forgetting the defense is a part of football and, and it's it's
- 38:40history. I think it may come back to bite
- 38:42them, come, you know, December and and maybe early January.
- 38:46We didn't have a lot of intrigue in this. 12027 is going to be
- 38:49different. Arch Manning, Dante Moore,
- 38:52Jeremiah Smith is finally eligible for the draft.
- 38:55If you didn't love 2026, I think 2027 feel like they're going to
- 38:59be a lot more build up and probably a lot more work for
- 39:01you, Doc. Yeah.
- 39:03And it's it's all about quarterback.
- 39:05I mean that that's really the intrigue is when you got one guy
- 39:08that's the that's the the guy and which is Fernando Mendoza
- 39:12and then Ty Simpson and which was intriguing watching Sean
- 39:16McVeigh because he didn't really like that pic to tell.
- 39:18Yeah, that I think that what when you got a potentially Arch
- 39:24Manning, when you got Dante Moore, you've got, you know,
- 39:27Lenore Sellers, maybe he comes back and has a great year.
- 39:30Maybe source me. Yeah, I know maybe sores B
- 39:34latency. You know, Jay, you know, you got
- 39:38Mayaba from USC. There's a lot of really good
- 39:41quarterbacks that Nico, I am Aleva, you know, so you've got
- 39:45all these guys that I think you have the potential to be first
- 39:49rounders and high first rounders.
- 39:50So that'll bring a lot more intrigue because there's still a
- 39:54lot of quarterback needy teams that are just trying to, you
- 39:57know, spackle over their holes like Pittsburgh and.
- 40:01And what? I have, Doc, my last thing for
- 40:03you, and this was early last week, I think it happened.
- 40:07Fox reclaiming, that's essentially what they did,
- 40:10right? NBC had the Big 10 championship
- 40:12game last year. It was a massive number.
- 40:15Indiana and Ohio State, Fox had the option to just take it back
- 40:20and that's what they did. No surprise on your part, I'm
- 40:22guessing. No, NBC had been shopping it
- 40:26around, yeah, that they were looking at and Fox was like, uh,
- 40:31uh, you're not, you know, because they were talking about
- 40:34like streaming companies and things like that, like Netflix
- 40:37or. And, and so I, you know, because
- 40:42Fox basically controls the Big 10's rights and it, it would
- 40:45have wanted it. And this goes all the way back
- 40:48to when Kevin Warren was the commissioner, because he kind of
- 40:52went around Fox to sell the the rights to those Big 10
- 40:56championship games to CBS. There were two of them in NBC.
- 41:00There was one of them. And so NBC hasn't been real
- 41:04thrilled with its ratings. The ratings for Saturday Night
- 41:07Football have not been good for the most part.
- 41:09So this is one that I think you're.
- 41:13Yeah, that I was not surprised to see.
- 41:15And and it bears watching what's going to happen in the next
- 41:18three to four years once the the next deals come into play
- 41:22because, you know, will NBC try to do it and try to jump in
- 41:26again or will they look at somewhere else?
- 41:29You know, all remains up for debate.
- 41:32What do you working on this week?
- 41:33The Athletic. I'm doing a lot of I'm doing a
- 41:38draft story about tight ends right now with, with Seth
- 41:40Emerson and then looking at a couple other, you know, just
- 41:44kind of time to turn the page now.
- 41:45So I'm still a little bit open on some other things.
- 41:48I had a Big 10 survey that happened over the when I was
- 41:52gone and, and so I got all the figures back.
- 41:54So I'll probably write as to what people think about their
- 41:58teams and and what have you. So.
- 42:00Well, and if it's out next, this time next week, we'll opine on
- 42:03it with you. Doc, thanks for doing this.
- 42:05Appreciate it. Assuming your schedule allows.
- 42:08Thank you, Scott Dockerman, hope to talk to you next week.
- 42:10Have a great week, Scott. Thank you.
- 42:11Yeah, you too. Take care.
- 42:13Nice to talk to you Scott Dockerman from the athletics.
- 42:15So when it when it comes to the Bears and they didn't, do we
- 42:17have time for like 1 minute here?
- 42:19This is what the reading stuff on the Bears the yes, they would
- 42:24love to have an edge. Rusher.
- 42:25Yes. But there's two guys on your
- 42:27team that didn't play hardly at all last year, and one of them
- 42:30was the second round pick. Last year's last name's Turner.
- 42:33Do you remember him? Yes.
- 42:35Yeah, they love him. And another guy whose name is
- 42:37impossible to say what again. Boo, Dingbo, do you know what
- 42:43I'm? Talking about, I do, yes, yes, I
- 42:45can't help you out. I can't help you out with the
- 42:47pronunciation. But those are the two guys that
- 42:49they thought were going to be impact last year and both had
- 42:53significant injuries last year. And I'm sure that this is
- 42:58somewhat team speak, you know, we, you know, we'd like to, but
- 43:01we also have these two guys. We're really high.
- 43:03On well, and I like Austin Booker.
- 43:05I don't think he's a full. Booker's another guy.
- 43:07I like him. If that's your kind of your
- 43:09third guy, maybe a little third down pat, you know, specialist
- 43:12type. I like him too.
- 43:14So at first I was like, what are they doing right?
- 43:17But then closely looking at the board and looking how many of
- 43:20those edge rushers went before their pick in the second round,
- 43:22before they took Logan Jones, the headliners were off the
- 43:25board. Yes, of course there's options
- 43:28that you can go to, but the guys that I think that were targeted
- 43:32probably were off the board and so they just switched.
- 43:34But I think that is a fairway to look at it.
- 43:36Plus, after last year Ryan pulls Ben Johnson, they earned a lot
- 43:42of trust. Yeah, they did and rightly so.
- 43:44We'll take your time out. We'll come back.
- 43:45And I thought that for the most part, other than that, wide
- 43:47receiver did very well. Miller and Connon back to wrap
- 43:50up hour number one, Matt Snyder. We'll talk baseball to kick off
- 43:52hour number two on the eye with Sports Radio Network.
- 43:59Hi, Miller and Connon, welcome back.
- 44:01Final couple of minutes here of our first hour of the program.
- 44:03Trying to get up to speed on this Soresby story.
- 44:05So it looks like he bet on Indiana when he was redshirting,
- 44:09didn't play in any of the games. If you bet more than 800 on a
- 44:13game that does not involve your sport, it's 30% of the season.
- 44:19If your cumulative betting exceeds $800, you could
- 44:22potentially you could potentially lose your
- 44:25eligibility. But these are guidelines from
- 44:272023. It happened in 2020.
- 44:31Two 23. Yes.
- 44:34Do we impose today's guidelines or do we go back in time?
- 44:38Great question, right? You don't know Trent.
- 44:40I don't know. It's the NCAA.
- 44:43They'll make it up on the fly. They've already made an example
- 44:45out of Iowa and Iowa State, so they're good.
- 44:47Yeah, this, this is a big ticket item and I'm sure Cody Campbell
- 44:50will make a call. Oh God, you know what?
- 44:53I didn't even think about that, but you're right.
- 44:55Right, the source is not going to sit out.
- 44:57Not a game. I don't think so.
- 44:59I do not believe so. You know what?
- 45:03I'm kind of with you on this. We'll see where it goes.
- 45:06Foil hat back on. No, I don't think it necessarily
- 45:09is. Good stuff.
- 45:12We'll see where it goes. Our number 2, we're going to go
- 45:14and go away for a few minutes and then come back to talk
- 45:16baseball, then talk Iowa State with Bill Seals.
- 45:19Trent's plays of the day are coming up.
- 45:20We've got an hour to go on our program.
- 45:22Glad you're with us as we talk sports with you on the Iowa
- 45:26Sports Radio Network.
