- 0:22Speaker 1: To another, come Out of the Wilderness.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Thursday prayer.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm adjusting my sounds, music and all of those things.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah, we have a really, really good topic today.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So let me just get started by saying I'm so glad you're here.

- 0:44Speaker 1: Those of you all who are on the Facebook streets we're on Facebook, linkedin, youtube, twitter and also on Paradec Live TV.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So good morning to all of you all who are watching us on on a PDTV Please love, like and share the video, because that helps other people to be able to see and they don't kick us off the YouTube streets.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So all the admin stuff's out the way, but today is going to be a tough conversation.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Good morning, if you're on Facebook, I can't see your name, so forgive me for that, but today is going to be a tough conversation for a lot of us who are believers or Christians or, quite frankly, all of us who believe in the word of God, and so this is going to be a teaching session, not necessarily a.
- 1:31Speaker 1: You know this is.
- 1:32Speaker 1: This isn't going to be a.
- 1:33Speaker 1: This is going to be a teaching session that all of us really need, so the title for today, our discussion today, is called Transition of Leadership, and I'm going to be coming out of First Chronicles, 28.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But obviously, before we do that, I want to just start off with a prayer.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Lord, god, we just thank you for giving us another Thursday.
- 1:54Speaker 1: We thank you that you've given us the mercies of the day and allowed us to see another day, opening our eyes, or God and wherever we are watching from, whether it's live or on the replay.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Lord, we just thank you for blessing us with the opportunity to hear your word.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And so now, lord, as always, I ask that you will take over this call and it be your will.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Teach us what we need to hear and we need to see from your perspective, lord, and not mine.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Amen.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So I'm also going to read out this prayer before I get started.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'm sitting all up y'all because, like I said, this is going to be one that's going to challenge your flesh a little bit, and so, because this is going to challenge your flesh, we got to set it up right, right, okay, and allow the Holy Spirit to take over.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So I'm actually just going to read out release Psalm 143.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I use the ESV Bible, as you all know.
- 2:46Speaker 1: So Psalm 143 this is verse, verses eight through 10.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm just going to read it out and then, for those of y'all who are new here, I will switch to.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know, the Bible verse will talk about it.
- 2:58Speaker 1: If you have comments, drop it in the comments.
- 3:01Speaker 1: As you're following along, I will share my screen, so if you don't have your Bible, don't worry about it, and then we'll close your prayer.
- 3:07Speaker 1: That's how we roll Again.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Psalm 143, verses eight through 10 in the ESV version, and this is, for us, just releasing.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Before we go into this lesson, let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Deliver me from my enemies.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Oh Lord, I have fled to you for refuge.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Let your good spirit lead me on level ground, amen.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So we're releasing that because I want us to be in the space of coming under the Lord and his word, to understand things from his perspective and asking God to show us the way that we should go, not what Shelley says, but what he says because I'm dealing with it too, alright, alright, so so the way I want to set this up before I start sharing the word and share my screen, when I when I posted this out, I was saying that this the reason I'm looking at first Chronicles 20.
- 4:09Speaker 1: This is a time of when David was passing the mantle to Solomon and this was a really defining moment in biblical history because it was this time where David was giving all of this really profound insight.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He, you know, mentorship, some of the responsibility of leadership that David had.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So, as you are Thinking, as we're hearing this word, I want you to think about this whether you're in a leadership position today.
- 4:37Speaker 1: When I say leadership, I'm not talking about job title, okay, I'm talking about Skill set, of being a leader.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So what.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You could be an analyst, you could be a customer service rep, you could be a janitor, a teacher, a doctor, vp, whatever it is.
- 4:52Speaker 1: So, from that perspective, I want to think.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I want you to think about a leadership position and and really gain some wisdom from how the Kind of the impact of a well-prepared leadership transition happens.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Even thinking about thinking about this you know I was studying the word Transitioning, even if, like, you've been given a really great project and now you got to hand it over to somebody else.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So there's a transition period and sadly, there are a lot of people who have to Transition.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Even their jobs is someone else Okay.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So, like I said, this, this one's gonna, this one's gonna make us think a little bit Deeper, but we're gonna.
- 5:34Speaker 1: We're gonna talk through David's charge and how you know how he had to transition, basically, what he started.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He wasn't chosen to build the temple and Solomon wasn't, you know, david's choice.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It was Solomon was God's anointed.
- 5:50Speaker 1: So a lot, y'all are sitting in the seat where you know maybe something is being transition.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You started it and Laura's like you're not gonna finish it, I'm gonna transition it to somebody else.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So that's what I mean about, let's be clear about you know, leadership from a skill perspective, not a job title perspective, all right.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So that's the eyes and ears we're going into, and so I am going to share my screen so that you can walk with me through first, chronicles 28, and again, I use the ESP version.
- 6:18Speaker 1: If you use something else, that's all right.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So so let's move through this.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do the entire, not gonna read it word for word.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to move us around for the in the interest of time, but just to help you to understand some of the background.
- 6:32Speaker 1: What was happening is David had pulled together all his leadership team.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna use it in in our terms Okay, he's basically pulled together all the officials of Israel, officials of the tribe.
- 6:43Speaker 1: He pulled to his, pulled out his leadership team together.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Okay, together with the palace officials, the mighty men and all the seasoned warriors.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Okay, this was a, this was a CEO town hall, all right, so he's pulling everybody together.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And then he rose to his feet in verse 2 and he said Hear me, my brothers and my people.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for the building.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So just think about this pause right here.
- 7:13Speaker 1: A lot of us had Visions of things that we, you know, we had in our heart that we were gonna build something out.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Maybe you were gonna build this, you build this incredible family.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Maybe you know, that was your thing.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna build up this like incredible family, or I was gonna build up this business.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I was gonna build up this, this job that I'm in, right, or I'm gonna build up my purpose, but but what David is saying?
- 7:35Speaker 1: King David is saying here, I had it in my heart to build this thing right, but God said to me inversely, you may not build a house for my name, for you're a man of war and have shed blood.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yet the Lord, god of Israel, chose me from all my father's house to be king over Israel forever.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So, even though you know, david was, you know, called to be the king over Israel, he wasn't.
- 8:02Speaker 1: The Lord didn't anoint him to finish the job.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Okay, he was.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He was the starter, not the finisher.
- 8:09Speaker 1: He had the vision, okay, but, but essentially, for he was, he chose Judah as leader and in the house of Judah, my father's house, and Among my father's son, he took pleasure in me to make me king overall Israel.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And verse five it talks about and of all my sons, he has chosen Solomon, my son, to sit on the throne of the king of the Lord Over Israel.
- 8:31Speaker 1: And he said to me, meaning you know, god said to David it is Solomon, your son, who shall build my house and my courts, for have chosen him to be my son and I will be his father.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Y'all think about this from our, I guess, worldly perspective, or how we're living life right now.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Right, so the Lord put you in a position again.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Doesn't matter what your job title is, right, the Lord put you in a certain position.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You had the vision and the Lord is like listen, you're not gonna finish what you started.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I've selected and and think about it in this, in this Situation, I've selected someone else to carry out what you started, right.
- 9:12Speaker 1: And so from that perspective, you know the Lord is saying it's Solomon.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So now he knows.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So some y'all have you know.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You're in the position where you started again.
- 9:24Speaker 1: You started in this job and you're not getting the promotion.
- 9:27Speaker 1: You built this function and you're not getting the promotion.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You get it.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean you, you solve the customer, the customer deals, he brought in the most customers and you're not getting the promotion because the Lord had selected someone else to take that on.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Okay, so again we're talking about Transition to leadership and in verse 7 it talks about I will establish the kingdom forever if it continues in my commandments, and, and so this is the Lord really talking through David, david's charge to Israel, as he's talking to them about.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Listen, I started this, but who's going to finish?
- 9:59Speaker 1: It is Solomon.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And what happens here?
- 10:02Speaker 1: As you go further down into verse 9, now you have what David is charging to Solomon.
- 10:08Speaker 1: This is the, the transition.
- 10:10Speaker 1: A lot of a lot of folks, or believers, or Christians, will call this a Transition of a mantle, right?
- 10:16Speaker 1: So in verse 9, david is now talking to Solomon, and you, solomon, my son, know the God of your father.
- 10:24Speaker 1: So now he's mentoring him and serve him with a whole heart.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So what is he doing?
- 10:29Speaker 1: He's setting Solomon up for success, even though David is not going to finish out what he thought he was going to finish out.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Right, he's now mentoring and coaching him with a whole heart and with a willy mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and Understands every plant and thought and y'all.
- 10:47Speaker 1: This is another thing to pause on, because when you know if you're the Solomon, if something has been trans, just transition to you, right?
- 10:56Speaker 1: This is also a kind of a warning for you.
- 10:59Speaker 1: This is a coaching period for you.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So if, if you're being given something, part of even being a leader, right, a servant leader is to understand that, no matter what, serve serving him, serving God, you know, with a willing mind, because God starts as a nose every plan, every thought, every deed.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And so he continues to coach him and says, if you seek him, he will be found by you.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Meaning seeking, like going after God, asking God, what are you know, what?
- 11:27Speaker 1: What are your?
- 11:28Speaker 1: What do you want?
- 11:29Speaker 1: What me to do in this situation, lord, how do I resolve this, this issue on the job?
- 11:33Speaker 1: How do I resolve this thing for the, my family?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Something you know, seeking God, you know, wanting to understand from the Lord's perspective, not yours, right, making it.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You know his plan, not yours.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And the board says if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.
- 11:48Speaker 1: That's a warning.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Be careful now, for the Lord has chosen you to build the house for this century.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Be strong, right, be courageous, right and do it so.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So again, we have David, you know, basically saying you know, I'm not the one that God chose to finish out this vision that I started, but as a leader, and I'm giving the charge, I'm giving mentorship and coaching Solomon, I'm setting him up to be successful.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And then it goes on and it shows how David even provided all of the plans.
- 12:22Speaker 1: So, verses 11 through 19 Well, he gives him literally all of the plan, all the resources, all the tools, all the support to set Solomon up to be successful.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So, again, if you're in that job and you know your boss comes to you and says, you know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna try, I'm gonna take this from you and I'm gonna give it to somebody else, don't go off saying, oh no, you know, don't go in your flesh Again.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You have to understand that sometimes these things happen, but it's always working out for your good.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And if you're in that position where your boss is telling you to train a new person, maybe you've been on the job for 20, 30 years and you know, you know you're thinking, well, I'm great, I'm gonna have to Transition this to somebody who have.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You know, they just joined three days ago and I should be all of those fleshly things that that we're doing, fighting each other.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You know, here's the example where David is setting up Solomon to be successful.
- 13:21Speaker 1: He's giving him all the coaching, the mentoring that, the tools and the resources.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And if, if you are a Believer, if you are trying to walk this life out as a Christian or a believer of Jesus, if you really truly are trying to to be more like him and be in him, then Then, literally, you have to model some of these these things right.
- 13:44Speaker 1: You have to walk out life in a different way.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You can't.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You can't react the way everybody else reacts.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So so David gives the charge.
- 13:52Speaker 1: He starts off with some coaching.
- 13:54Speaker 1: He basically is praying over him for success.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He's setting him up, he's giving him all the resources and tools Verse 19,.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I love this.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He says all of this.
- 14:04Speaker 1: He made clear to me in writing from the hand of the Lord, all the work to be done according to his plan.
- 14:10Speaker 1: So David wasn't hiding any secret process that he had.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I wrote that I made this process 20 years ago and I'm not giving it to nobody.
- 14:19Speaker 1: No, he literally is giving him everything, everything so that Solomon can be successful.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And then he closes, david, saying to Solomon, his son, be courageous and do it, don't be afraid.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So now he's giving him encouragement.
- 14:35Speaker 1: So here again it's another leadership principle.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It's being encouraging to that person, right.
- 14:42Speaker 1: So he's telling him do not be afraid, don't be dismayed, the Lord is with you, he will not leave you.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Y'all, some of the days that you're having, when you're going up against you know, going up against some things, right, come back into this word and look at how, look at this example of what we call transitioning to leadership, right, how God wants us to model out the way that we treat each other.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Again, it doesn't have to just be on the job, it could be in your family.
- 15:09Speaker 1: There are people who are transitioning family businesses, all of those things, right?
- 15:13Speaker 1: So just thinking about from that perspective, transition of leadership.
- 15:18Speaker 1: So there's a couple more notes.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I just stopped sharing because I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything in the chat.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And, again, like I said, feel free to drop your notes, but there's some things that I wanted to share that I picked up from this lesson, and there's about five of them and I'm gonna share them real quick, like okay.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So the first thing, when you think about transition of leadership and again I wanna make it clear, it has nothing to do with your job title, I'm talking about your skills.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It doesn't matter what job you are in, it doesn't matter if you've been on the job.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You've been working for one year, two years.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Some of us don't have these skills and we're building it up, okay.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But from this scripture, first, chronicles 28, there were some things that stood out for me that I wanted to share with you and maybe it resonates with you, maybe it's just an encouragement for me.
- 16:13Speaker 1: So the first thing is that David made sure that Solomon was set up to be successful, right?
- 16:19Speaker 1: So again, david started this vision.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He wasn't chosen and he recognized and respected the fact that he wasn't gonna be chosen to finish this thing out.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So some of y'all are in jobs where you're not chosen to finish this thing out, meaning maybe you're being promoted to something else.
- 16:37Speaker 1: But it was your vision, it was your project, it was your client, it was your sales call, it was your deal.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Like all of a sudden it's yours, right.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But what happens here is that David really made sure that the person that was coming behind him was set up to be successful and, again, as a believer, this is why I said this is gonna be hard for the flesh, because some of y'all are being moved out of jobs.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Maybe you've been laid off and on the way out they're telling you to leave the notes or set up a transition plan, and in your flesh you're like I don't wanna do that because look what they're doing to me.
- 17:15Speaker 1: No, that's not what the word, that's not what the word is instructing you to do.
- 17:22Speaker 1: The Holy Spirit is gonna prompt you to do things from God's perspective, not from our flesh, not from our reaction.
- 17:28Speaker 1: So making sure that whoever is coming behind you is set up to be successful.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That's one of the leadership principles, okay.
- 17:37Speaker 1: The second thing is that y'all, not every vision that we carry is meant for us to execute.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I have so many visions and ideas and I've learned that a lot of them are seeds that I plant that somebody else is gonna water and somebody else is gonna harvest.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Not every vision that I carry, not every vision that you carry, is meant for you to execute.
- 17:59Speaker 1: It could be something that's a vision that you have now that that's gonna be executed on or acted upon or harvested generations behind you, okay.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So just understand that.
- 18:13Speaker 1: The third thing I wanted to share, if you don't know, in second chronicles, solomon has the opportunity.
- 18:20Speaker 1: God asked Solomon because he saw his heart, and so God asked Solomon what does he want?
- 18:24Speaker 1: Swim in the dream.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And Solomon didn't ask for money, solomon didn't ask for resources.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Solomon asked God for wisdom.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So I encourage you, if you're in a leadership job, role, skill, whatever it is ask, you know, asking the Lord for wisdom to help you to make some of these tough decisions that you will have to make.
- 18:46Speaker 1: We all have to make tough decisions, so asking God for wisdom.
- 18:51Speaker 1: The fourth thing is that Y'all we have to understand the importance of a smooth transition, and the test is going to come when you're losing your job to somebody else.
- 19:03Speaker 1: You have to understand the importance of a smooth transition your exit, your exit.
- 19:11Speaker 1: So I know, on social media okay, I'm sure folks are going to be upset with me, but I know it's become a trend on social media to have a good I quit thing where people are literally making videos and running it on TikTok Like it's a thing.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It's become a thing where people leave things and they don't care how they leave things.
- 19:36Speaker 1: It's more about getting likes and clicks on a video they made and showing how funny it was or whatever, how they left.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm telling you, as a believer, you've got to understand the importance of a smooth transition and that test is going to come to you when you're losing your job or you're losing your project, or you're being put in a position where you're being forced to let some things go.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Smooth transition, okay, god doesn't operate in chaos and that test is going to.
- 20:05Speaker 1: If it didn't hit you yet.
- 20:06Speaker 1: It will, but your response to that test is going to determine how you're treated the next time.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Right, you're the one who's the Solomon and not the David.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And the last thing is, this is an invitation for us to really think about the roles and the impact of our leadership transition on the people that come after us.
- 20:28Speaker 1: This here, right, this is how we reflect.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Use this, go back in first Chronicles 28 and think about it and ask the Lord to reveal what he wants you to see.
- 20:39Speaker 1: But this is an invitation to reflect on our roles, what we're doing, and our impact and the way we transition to the people that are coming after us.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And again, not just on the job, because, exactly, thank you for that, bringing Kingdom culture in the workplace.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And so this is so important, because a lot of us are talking about how we want to build generational wealth, and we want to.
- 21:03Speaker 1: You know, you've got to learn how to transition, because if you're trying to build generational wealth, or you're trying to, you know, help your family in any way, shape or form beyond you, right, meaning generations beyond you you're going to have visions for some things and the Lord is going to say well, somebody else in the family is going to take that on, and you got to learn how to transition smoothly and set that person up behind you right, who's coming behind you, so that they'll be successful, right, and so that is a.
- 21:32Speaker 1: That's another lesson.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So if you're if you're in the crowd, that's saying I want to build generational wealth, I want to teach my kids, to teach their kids.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You better go on, go back in this first Chronicles 28 and really see that model behavior for how you transition, your leadership right, your vision, how you have to let some things go.
- 21:51Speaker 1: How do you treat people when you're, when you're not, the one finishing out something that maybe you even started?
- 21:57Speaker 1: How do you bless people behind you, whether you want to walk to or not?
- 22:00Speaker 1: So those are the hard truths that I wanted to share with you.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I really encourage you to go back in the first Chronicles 28.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I hope this bless you y'all.
- 22:08Speaker 1: This was like I said, this was a hard teaching, but I really hope this blesses you.
- 22:13Speaker 1: We need to.
- 22:14Speaker 1: We need to be able to come up a little bit higher.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I am not interested in folks that that are just saying I'm a Christian or just spouting out don't throw scripture.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I want to see the seed.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I want to see how you respond.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I want to see how you speak to people.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I want to.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That's what people around us are looking at.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I say this all the time.
- 22:36Speaker 1: You don't have to tell me you're a Christian.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I can tell by the seeds that you leave.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I can tell by how people respond to you.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I can tell by your own actions.

- 23:31Speaker 1: This is your ground.

- 24:03Speaker 1: I pray, lord, god, for those dreams that have died because the transition was terrible.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I pray over those folks who have lost sight of you and stopped believing in you because they've gone through some bad experiences, lord, that their eyes will be open so that they will not repeat the behavior of what happened to them before.
