- 0:00Speaker 1: For all you mean bastards loving the Big Show podcast
- 0:05Speaker 1: get up even closer.
- 0:07Speaker 2: On Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for for dogging four to
- 0:11Speaker 2: seven every weekday on radio.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Was there TikTok going pugs.
- 0:17Speaker 3: We are on the it's the radio hood accult Ah.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Right, Yes, we're gonna have to change that sting at
- 0:22Speaker 2: the front because I've been getting messages from people. So
- 0:24Speaker 2: you're looking for the Big Show TikTok because of the
- 0:27Speaker 2: sting at the start of the podcast, but I can't
- 0:29Speaker 2: find it anywhere.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's got really old ship on it.
- 0:31Speaker 4: It does, yeah, because the previous producer we could not
- 0:34Speaker 4: get access to, said TikTok.
- 0:36Speaker 3: And then also we were made.
- 0:37Speaker 2: To do we end up getting that past with no no,
- 0:40Speaker 2: no never. But you can't even real see that seems
- 0:43Speaker 2: weird to me.
- 0:43Speaker 1: No, it's weird. You need the original phone that the
- 0:45Speaker 1: original account was made from in this particular situation because
- 0:49Speaker 1: it's got like a two factor bullshit or things. And
- 0:52Speaker 1: I asked him because missus sharks, I don't remember, and
- 0:56Speaker 1: he looked through all his emails and shoes. I can't
- 0:58Speaker 1: ye what it is. So it's dead account. Just one
- 1:02Speaker 1: of those things.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Well, I'll get the sting changed to say the radio holda.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Oh can you do that? Count? You've been with me?
- 1:08Speaker 1: By the way? Ah, that was a lie.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I believe that. Man? Did you see that?
- 1:14Speaker 4: Man?
- 1:15Speaker 1: That feels great? After the year twenty nineteen? Can I
- 1:19Speaker 1: can I prodict something only five years ago?
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's not that long. Yeah. Have you had to dust
- 1:25Speaker 2: it yet? Dust my trophy?
- 1:27Speaker 1: No?
- 1:27Speaker 2: I don't have to because everybody that goes that, we've
- 1:30Speaker 2: got in the podcast studio Frank podcast. By the way,
- 1:32Speaker 2: if you're going to get a podcast, shout out and
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's on the shelf and their keys it comes in
- 1:38Speaker 2: holy ship.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Is it a trophy for the New Zealand Television Awards twenty.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Nineteen Best Actor A Look, I haven't say that. It's
- 1:46Speaker 1: a massive hunk of plastic, right, Okay, it's reason. Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It will be around forever, it will. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Your gaming podcasts you record your what's it called extremely
- 1:56Speaker 2: casual Gamers? Yeah? Yeah, it's pretty very popular, think very populous.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Came from strength to strengths.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Have you heard of it? Yeah? Man, were you expecting
- 2:06Speaker 1: to win that award when you want it? No? Would
- 2:08Speaker 1: you think you would ever be in the running for it.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Or when I got nominated and I thought I had
- 2:12Speaker 2: had a chance, then yeah I didn't because was it
- 2:19Speaker 2: for Officer? It was for officer, and the reason was
- 2:22Speaker 2: because you never get nominated for comedy. Comedy never gets
- 2:25Speaker 2: certainly never wins. And I was up against the guy
- 2:28Speaker 2: that played Tina Pora. Do you remember that guy got
- 2:32Speaker 2: wrongly convicted for I think murder and rape, right, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: but he was like mentally challenged. Cops frame framed him
- 2:39Speaker 2: up right, so they made it. Then they he was
- 2:42Speaker 2: in jail for twenty years. And guy there was a
- 2:44Speaker 2: journalist I think that took on the case and got
- 2:46Speaker 2: it overturned.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And so pretty pretty good stuff made pretty good stuff
- 2:51Speaker 1: for a movie there. And then now.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Mogi goes up there and I can't remember who the
- 2:56Speaker 2: other one was, but that's who I thought would win it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And then what really made it great was, you know,
- 3:02Speaker 2: because you have your dreams when you're a kid. Not
- 3:03Speaker 2: that I even wanted to be an actor when I
- 3:04Speaker 2: was a kid, but certainly in my my day dreams
- 3:08Speaker 2: of accepting New Zealand's Academy.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Award, that's how they refer to it colloquially.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I didn't expect and the the they had I think
- 3:20Speaker 2: it was I don't know how they do it, but
- 3:21Speaker 2: there was an actress whose name is Kate Elliott, and
- 3:26Speaker 2: she announced she went out there and announced the winner
- 3:29Speaker 2: and so she said, and the winner is Mike Minigue
- 3:32Speaker 2: or ship like that, and just completely fucking butchered it
- 3:36Speaker 2: to the point where I didn't even know if she
- 3:38Speaker 2: was talking about me.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And then I got I think that's me.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, So I went up and then gave her a
- 3:46Speaker 2: little bit of ship, but I don't think she really.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Was.
- 3:50Speaker 2: But then Karen O'Leary was also nominated that year, right,
- 3:54Speaker 2: and she was dead set that she was going to win,
- 3:56Speaker 2: really no doubt. I was like, you wouldn't want to
- 3:58Speaker 2: temper those expectations little bit, yeah, because it's going to
- 4:01Speaker 2: hurt if you don't.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And then Daniel Cormick one, right, okay, so what year
- 4:05Speaker 1: was that? Twenty nineteen? But I thought, you won?
- 4:10Speaker 2: What do you mean different a woman? You can't compete
- 4:13Speaker 2: against women? More interminating spark the man.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I didn't realize you need yeah, okay, okay, I didn't realize.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And yesterday they had the Sunday they had to show
- 4:24Speaker 2: me Shorts Awards Film. Yeah, and uh, she got nominated
- 4:36Speaker 2: for Honey Kaha, which to Rattener produced and directed and
- 4:41Speaker 2: wrote and Frank produced. And there was only three people
- 4:45Speaker 2: in that category and it was men and woman, right,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and she won.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Well that's pretty good. It's bloody good against money Benning.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You know Money Benner. Yea, he was. He was Crixus
- 4:53Speaker 1: and Spartacus was Yeah, said what a great blood because
- 5:02Speaker 1: crass he's got his dog are out o me? So
- 5:04Speaker 1: did it look like it had worked down on it? Yeah? Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: it was prosthetic. Is it persuaded? It was like Midway,
- 5:11Speaker 1: It was a half mongrel.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Lucy Lawless is in that whether she got she got
- 5:18Speaker 1: her top out on top out. He's got a top
- 5:20Speaker 1: half hour, here's my top it is. Yeah. But and
- 5:24Speaker 1: she was with that great British actor who plays the Lanista.
- 5:27Speaker 2: He is also Four Weddings and a Funeral. Yes, he's brilliant,
- 5:30Speaker 2: really great.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we're obsessed with that show in like two thousand
- 5:33Speaker 1: and eight season now really yeah, yeah they are. Because
- 5:39Speaker 1: a friend of mine is in charge of wardrobe or
- 5:41Speaker 1: something apparently and had to order one hundred thousand sandals
- 5:44Speaker 1: from China or something, right, I don't know. They do
- 5:46Speaker 1: not get them from Italy from now they're not which
- 5:49Speaker 1: is we are number one shoe were house, which is
- 5:51Speaker 1: where I used to get.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Mine or our old mate who does bogies pet means
- 5:57Speaker 2: random plug for Petsy Pet.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Bensy's the whole.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Warchy Big Show week days from four on Radio Hiarchy.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Remember the Warky Big Show podcast. We're obsessed with that
- 6:11Speaker 1: TV show. Hey, Pugs, have you ever won an award?
- 6:13Speaker 1: I have never won an award.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I've had a couple of award most connies, most connies,
- 6:23Speaker 4: most hused and bought. Yeah no, I think the last
- 6:28Speaker 4: one was not since like high school.
- 6:31Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, but even in high school, I never
- 6:32Speaker 1: want anything I got.
- 6:33Speaker 3: They got a national scholarship for public speaking. Woy, thanks man.
- 6:39Speaker 3: That was like maybe twenty fourteen doesn't matter.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That's awesome. I was, yeah, that's amazing. That was a
- 6:44Speaker 1: topic the did you do? What did you up doing?
- 6:47Speaker 1: What do you do with a scholarship like that?
- 6:50Speaker 4: I can't remember what I did. Maybe I put the
- 6:52Speaker 4: money towards my tutoring, getting associated.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Debating. I couldn't tell you.
- 6:59Speaker 3: No, it was a speech, was the speech was a presentation.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Surely you can remember something you don't remember your speech is.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 7:07Speaker 1: That you cover it up. I would about it was.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It was prophilect. To this day, my wife still can
- 7:16Speaker 1: recite to me the opening of her primary school speech,
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Bottlenoes Dolphin otherwise notice the Latin name here, Yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 1: the battle dolphin. Yeah.
- 7:25Speaker 3: There's a lot that I don't remember.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Is that from excessive drinking?
- 7:29Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 7:29Speaker 4: If it's or maybe just represhing from trauma. Who right,
- 7:34Speaker 4: winning an award was trauma for you? Trauma might have
- 7:38Speaker 4: repressed other stuff, a mental block, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I also got the most valuable player and my undaughter
- 7:46Speaker 4: hockey team.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That's good. That's good, ship man. It started off was
- 7:51Speaker 1: it got.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Most valuable player? Is good.
- 7:59Speaker 4: So you're bast underwater hockey at one time in maybe
- 8:03Speaker 4: two thousand and thirteen.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Underwater hockey, man, and you won m VP for Tonsil hockey. Yeah, yeah, man,
- 8:12Speaker 1: what made you choose underwater hockey?
- 8:14Speaker 4: I was shipped everything else. Yeah, everything else didn't make
- 8:17Speaker 4: the touch team.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Did a little bit of tennis, yep.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But I was a swimmer throughout my childhood. So I
- 8:23Speaker 3: was like, oh, yeah, I'll give us a whack, and
- 8:24Speaker 3: all the all.
- 8:25Speaker 1: The freaks were there playing underwater hockey. Yeah. Plus you
- 8:28Speaker 1: get to me like a Connie thing on your head.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Right, Connie thing on my head. Speedo's Finns mouthguard, snorkel.
- 8:34Speaker 1: What about the old what are they playing the other polo?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Water polo? Why? I tried that. That's hard, man, because
- 8:41Speaker 1: you got it real hard out of the water to
- 8:43Speaker 1: throw a lot.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Of core strength and water polo didn't have that, didn't
- 8:46Speaker 4: need it for underwater hockey, right.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And then I also played underwater rugby for a brief stint.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Underwater rugby enough.
- 8:53Speaker 4: It was a fucking joke and they were trying to
- 8:56Speaker 4: get and it was played in the five meters deep
- 8:58Speaker 4: into the pool, that's right. And you put a little
- 9:00Speaker 4: middle basket either into the five met and every time
- 9:02Speaker 4: you play and you need to come up for you've
- 9:05Speaker 4: got to swim about five meters and equalize.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And I just started getting my grainy type.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So you've got the beans and ship ye, what is
- 9:11Speaker 1: it that made it like rugby? Other than nothing? You
- 9:14Speaker 1: can all contact? Yeah, and you've got brother so it's
- 9:18Speaker 1: not at the end of the pool. It's at the
- 9:20Speaker 1: end of the pool five meters down is the goal. Yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and you got to take this ball down and put
- 9:24Speaker 1: it in there while everyone's just like on top of
- 9:26Speaker 1: the surface, no point, and so you might have some
- 9:31Speaker 1: dude like trying to grab the ball off you and
- 9:33Speaker 1: you're about five minutes and you're like, oh my gosh,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I can't leave this.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Well, you have to at a certain point because you know,
- 9:39Speaker 4: you just depleting rapidly.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Are you allowed a tank on your back?
- 9:44Speaker 4: No?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Man, Okay, make it a love sure. Yeah, yeah, I'd
- 9:49Speaker 1: be way better because I always heard about the kids
- 9:52Speaker 1: at my school doing like underwater hockey and stuff. But
- 9:56Speaker 1: at the time I was like in the rugby team
- 9:57Speaker 1: and just playing like normal sports. When I say normal sports,
- 10:00Speaker 1: it sounds like mainstream people. And that's the one.
- 10:04Speaker 4: People at my school at the time called underwater hobby
- 10:06Speaker 4: because they didn't think it was a real spot.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah that's fair. How do you feel about it? We
- 10:10Speaker 1: loved it.
- 10:11Speaker 4: It was the only sport I ever got any kind
- 10:13Speaker 4: of remotely good out. And even then I was for
- 10:15Speaker 4: that NBOD under what rugby?
- 10:17Speaker 1: After a few weeks Yeah, yeah, see that's good. That's
- 10:20Speaker 1: what it's all about. You know, you have this pair
- 10:22Speaker 1: of nuts and yeah, wow, is that the opening of
- 10:27Speaker 1: your speech?
- 10:28Speaker 3: You remember that I'm sitting in Jason's seaton though.
- 10:34Speaker 2: So good I might ever go in his seat actually
- 10:37Speaker 2: see the world through his eyes?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah? Will you be able to see out there? Which? Yeah?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Which one?
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm far enough away there to this side that would
- 10:48Speaker 2: be you you, yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 1: All the way around. Just for the listeners he pivoted
- 10:57Speaker 1: in his seat, are just listening at home? Hey, listen
- 11:02Speaker 1: to the hurd Ack you BIGK Show four will seven
- 11:03Speaker 1: every week down Radio Hurdak. You are right, Stuart
- 11:08Speaker 4: Mm hm
