Everything We Missed During The Holidays | The Still Real to Us Show | Episode #726 – 1/11/24 · THE STILL REAL TO US SHOW – Real Guy Radio

0:00
It's to welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's It's a Miss Real To show
0:21
Episomber seven and twenty six for January eleven, twenty twenty four. Welcome to
0:26
your everything we missed during the holiday programming schedule edition of s R to You,
0:33
I am one after the show, I am Jackie Peck joined every single
0:37
week my host on only Doctor Tray Franklin, Doctor Trey, How quickly did
0:41
you realize last week's episode went to hell? Very quickly, my friend,
0:45
Oh, very very very quickly. Not to mention, it doesn't even feel
0:49
like we've been off that long, so like true, wait, we're back
0:53
to life programming already, Like we're back to live, oh Braham, all
0:56
right? And then as I tell you off the air, like I got
1:00
the dogs are in bed with me, Sammy's in the other room snoring away.
1:03
I'm like, yeah, this this is back to It is no whole
1:06
schedule, it's back to our routine though, so yeah, yeah. So
1:08
let me preface this by saying, we are recording this a little bit earlier
1:11
than we normally do this week because Doctor Trey's got some traveling and to do,
1:17
and I've got some really terrible weather. So we're doing this before aw
1:21
Dynamite, which probably means some of the things we talk about on this show
1:25
we'll go to hell in a handbasket, like last week's show, Like when
1:29
I sat down and I watched the Day one edition of RAW last week,
1:33
which by the way, was a great episode of Raw. I'm watching it,
1:38
Jenner Mahaal comes out and we'll talk about this in it in a little
1:41
bit bit a little bit, but just to address last week show, because
1:42
I saw one of our longtime listeners, Nate like tweeted at us like,
1:47
so when did you guys record this? This meaning last week's episode, and
1:52
I saw the Rock come out and then the Rock challenges Roman Reigns, and
1:55
I'm like, oh fuck, Like this goes against our RUSS many of preview
2:00
predictions all that stuff. I blame you. Yeah, it's my fault.
2:05
And that was definitely one major story. The other one is like where Mercedes
2:09
Monette ends up and if she debuts this week, if she debuted last night
2:16
on Dynamite, or if she's still not AW bound. So we're going to
2:22
touch upon a lot of that stuff here on this week's edition of the show.
2:23
But understand that, yes, we recorded a lot of our shows over
2:29
the last three weeks, like a couple of weeks, a couple of days
2:32
before Christmas. I want to say, maybe a week before Christmas. That
2:37
way, Doctor Trey and I have all this time where you know, we're
2:39
taking a little bit of a break. We did hop on during the middle
2:43
of it, did the AW World's End preview prediction. We'll actually recap in
2:46
review that very quickly here on this week's edition of the podcast. We both
2:50
agreed, like, Nope, we're not going to do just a recap and
2:53
review special of AW Worlds End last week because we didn't feel like there was
2:57
anything really noteworthy to say. Spread that vacation, allow out a little bit
3:01
more, and we'll cover it here all on this week'sition of the podcast.
3:05
So everything that we missed the last three weeks we covered here, and we
3:08
begin with AW World's End Doctor Trey recap review. This took place back on
3:13
December thirty from Nasau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, New York.
3:17
I'm going to try to get through this pretty quickly, a little bit
3:21
different than we have in the past. I'm gonna simply ask you, doctor
3:23
Tray, if you've got anything you want to mention about the match, and
3:28
we'll just keep it moving. Willow Nightingale defeats Chris Statlander. We did not
3:31
predict that one any thoughts. No, we're good. Kill Switch wins a
3:37
twenty man Battle Royal for a future AWT and T championhip match. I had
3:39
j White, Doctor Trey, and Claudia Castid Noley. I guess my only
3:43
point in this is I think after we recorded the preview special, they announced
3:47
at the Continental Classic, guys, we're gonna be in like an all star
3:51
match. So I was like, well, there goes that match. Yeah,
3:53
not to mention you and I say here before like where is kill Switch?
3:57
Is he injured? Like we didn't know where he been, So it
4:00
was kind of surprising not to not only see him hit it, but to
4:02
actually win it as well. But hey, it worked out later in the
4:05
STU which, by the way, he was selling an injury the concerto from
4:10
Adam Copland, which I completely forgot about, which is more on Aw's part,
4:15
like you got to show some you know, highlight packages of what's been
4:18
going on the feud and cover the things that we may have forgotten. When
4:20
you do that, hook defeats Wheeler n in an FTW rules match and retain
4:25
the FTW Championship. We both had hook My only thing is instead of saying
4:29
like what the FTW rules was, just say it's like no hold Bard's no
4:32
hold Bard or street fight, Like what the hell is FTW rules? I
4:35
had no idea. Do you now know what they are? Not? Really?
4:41
I think it's a no holds Bard match. Yeah, I still think
4:45
you're gonna do FDS. Yeah. I think you just take the ropes off
4:47
the ring and makes it more like a UFC side. That's what you mentioned
4:51
during the preview show, right, Yeah, I think that would be a
4:55
much more of an FTW like you know, buck the wrestling. Yeah,
5:00
well it was fuck the wrestling, fuck the world. I think that's what
5:01
it all meant for the win. Maybe maybe that's what Tas was thinking back
5:05
in ninety eight. Were you surprised though, when you hear that Hooks wanting
5:10
to go through Samoa Joe. I know there is some stuff that we'll cover
5:14
about that in regards to some tweets that took place before we went on the
5:17
air tonight. So I'm gonna hold off on that thought here momentarily. Next
5:23
one is Brian Danielson, Claudia casting only, Daniel Garcia and Mark Bursk,
5:26
Goodfeeding, Brody King, Jay Lethal Rouche and j Why in a Continental Classic
5:30
All Star eight man tag match. I will want to cover this one.
5:32
We did not predict it. A very fun eight man tag match. I
5:35
really liked the Continental Classic All Star match concept and hope they do it for
5:39
years to come. Follow in the tournament, a good call with Daniel Garcia
5:43
again the victory, and hopefully AW takes this win for him to build off
5:45
of it. It appears they are doing that right now, at least in
5:47
short term. But I really enjoyed this concept. Doctor Try. Yeah,
5:51
I enjoyed the concept. I enjoyed the match. I do like it because
5:56
it's it's Daniel Garcia maybe the epitome of stop and start booking. When you
6:00
look at AW, because he's had pushes that was just stop and then pushed
6:03
and stop and then it feels like they're giving him another one again now,
6:06
so good for them. But the matches that was really really fun. I
6:11
mean, we actually got a chancy, you know, Brian Danielson and J
6:14
whis you get to see people from opposite leagues that don't get the phase of
6:18
up during the Classic finally get a chance to do so in the Alltar Match.
6:24
Next match is Miro defeated Andred Aliedelo. I had Miro doctor Tred Andrede.
6:30
Obviously, the big thing here is the rumors about Andrade. His contract
6:33
is up with AW will cover him and his potential or his free agency later
6:38
on the show. But I thought this was a solid match. CJ.
6:41
Perry turned on androdd and to help her husband win. That appeared to be
6:45
the way that they were sending Andrede out of AW. I hope Miro has
6:47
a bigger focus in twenty twenty four, as he's a really fun wrestler to
6:50
watch week to week. What's really cool about like covering this pay per view?
6:54
Nearly two weeks later, they did nothing on programming to follow up after
6:58
this nothing. Yeah, you at least want to say, like, you
7:01
know, have Mirror come out and be like, you know, because of
7:02
me, Andrade left the cup and let give him something and then there's just
7:06
no payoff at all. So and not even a really great turn by c
7:13
J. Perry, like it was almost like not even actually it was just
7:15
like so non shalant and then whoop. See Like I'm like that wasn't even
7:19
a great turn. So no, I was, But I'm a big Mirror
7:24
fan. I hope they do both that. He's one of my favorite people
7:26
in professional wrestling. Time with Tony Storm defeats Rio to retain the AW Women's
7:30
World Championship. We both had time with Tony Storm. I just felt like
7:33
Rio really never got going in this match. I felt like she was buying
7:35
the eight all the entire time, and timeless Tony Storm pretty much dominated Doctor
7:41
Try. Yeah, but at least she wasn't trying to conceal a weapon in
7:43
her booty this time. True, that is true. Sur Strickland defeats Dustin
7:47
Rhodes. We both had sort of Strickland. I think AW did the best
7:50
they could with a really bad situation. Keith Lee was not cleared before the
7:54
match. I hope twenty twenty four is a massive year for Swerve and this
7:58
just basically showed how fish you seek. Yeah, my only thing about this
8:01
match was I think they gave it way too much time. Yeah, they
8:03
did, they did. We haven't seen Dustin on TV. In like four
8:07
months and you're gonna give him like a twenty five minute match. You could
8:11
have given you more time to somebody else and just let Swear be dominant in
8:16
this match, and that would still set up him and keep Lee down the
8:18
road where cleared. I wonder if having a guy who's barely won on television
8:24
take on a top star in a wrestling company and make him to bite Tony
8:28
Kahn in the butt. Here later on the pod, stay tuned, Chris
8:31
Jericho, Samy Gavar is Stinging Darby Allen, Ricky Stark's Big Big Bill Kenoski
8:35
Takashkin Powerouse Hobbs in an eight man tag match. We both had Jericho Sammy
8:41
Stinging Darby match fell off and never really got me into it. Gavar got
8:46
the pen on Ricky Stark's That makes sense because they have the aw tag team
8:48
title match. But how do you not give Sting the penn in potentially his
8:52
farewell match in New York State? Because Govar is a pillar? I mean,
9:00
it's true than so who does like? I guess it's just kind of
9:03
way of cementing the baby face turns by Govar getting the pen and for us
9:07
to try to forget that. You know, he's switched back and forth so
9:11
many times this year is crazy. Yeah, yeah, I guess. Julie
9:15
Hart defeats Avadan, retaining the AWTBS Championship in a house rules match. To
9:20
me, this match didn't live up to expectations that I had for two up
9:24
and comers in the women's division. There was some misspots Excalbert did a good
9:28
job trying to save it on commentary, and that I don't understand the creative
9:35
direction of all of a sudden Skyblue aligning with Julie Hart, because prior to
9:39
this she was it looked like she was gonna aligned with Julie Hart, but
9:43
then missed her back and then that led to a trouble threat match with a
9:46
TBS Championship with Chris Statlander, and then only like a couple of weeks later,
9:50
Skyblue is then aligned with Julie Hart randomly like Okay, this is weird,
9:56
this is aw creative in a nutshell dot to try this match felt like
10:01
seeing a preview for a horror movie that you really kind of want to see,
10:03
and then you watch you went, oh, man, I just I
10:05
want that hour and a half of my life back, Like on paper,
10:09
this should been a really fun match, and then it's kind of like if
10:11
the Boogeyman wrestled an Undertaker, like you kind of want to see that happen,
10:16
but if it ever happened, you've been like, yeah, that was
10:18
just not good at all. Like there's just the it didn't mesh it didn't
10:22
styles the mesh up, and then like you're right, like one week sky
10:24
Blues trying to figure out if she's crazy or not, the next week they're
10:26
together. Then the thunder Rosa gets involved at one point, but then we
10:31
get this match and there's no funder Like it was just yeah, it's just
10:33
all over the place. It makes sense a bed mesh. Well, Adam
10:37
Copeland defeats Christian Cage and a no disqualification match to win the AWD and T
10:41
Champion ToIP go with that, Adam Copeland getting the victory, fun and entertaining
10:45
match. I really like how the final ten minutes of this match and what
10:48
happened after the match with kill Switch attempting to cash in only for Christian Cage
10:52
to demand kill Switch to give a title shot to him, leading to the
10:56
next match, was really good creative booking, which then led us to Christian
10:58
Cage defeed it out Copeland to win the AWT and T Championship. This match
11:03
played really well into the current direction. The Christian Cage character entertaining stuff again
11:07
and I helpe the eventual turn of kill Switch on Christian Cage gets executed really
11:11
well. You start, you're starting to see the fans get behind kill Switch
11:15
Lucasaurus for that eventual turn. I mean they were basically cheering it on on
11:18
last week's or two weeks editions now of aw Dynamite. Doctor Treyr thoughts on
11:24
Copeland winning then losing, tell me it's a WW match that telling me it's
11:28
a w W match like it started off kind of It was a very like
11:33
it's very Randy Orton Adam Copeland as type match, like it starts off kind
11:37
of slow, then picks up a little bit, and then the last ten
11:41
minutes are just spot off fantastic. So, uh yeah, it was.
11:45
It was one of the best matches on the show, if not the best
11:46
match on the show. The post matched up was great. My question is
11:52
if kill Switch turns baby Face, does he keep the kill Switch name or
11:56
does he go back to Lucasaurus. No, I think he goes back to
11:58
Lucasaurus and didn't didn't Christian renate is are they calling christians finisher the un prettier
12:05
or are they still calling it the kill switch. I think it's still going
12:09
by the kill switch. I don't believe it's they're calling it on prettier in
12:11
AW, so his finisher is the kill switch and then his protege is the
12:16
kill switch. Okay, he just really loves kill switch engaged that That might
12:20
be why I took away from this match the most. Yeah, I guess
12:24
he does. I mean it's I mean, I'm prettier and kill switch are
12:28
both not good names for a finisher in my opinion. Yeah, but though
12:33
these are the kill switch, you can say, hey, flipped the switch
12:35
whatever, you can do more with it. You can't really say, oh
12:37
he made him unprettier. That just sounds Next match here is Eddie Kinkston defeating
12:43
John Moxley to win the Championship Final for the AW Continental Classic for the inaugural
12:46
Triple Crown Championship of the r H World Title, New Japan Strong open Weight
12:50
Championship and the inaugural AW Continental Crown Championship. We both had Eddie Kinkson getting
12:56
the victory. This is a physical, hard hitting and throw back Japanese match.
13:00
The finish came out of nowhere nowhere, which gave it real fight feel
13:03
that you don't see too often in most matches, which was cool. The
13:07
booking of Eddie Kinkson throughout the tournament was really was nearly perfect, from starting
13:11
down two to coming back to win the whole thing by defeating both Brian Danielson
13:15
and John Moxley and consecutive matches. This tournament really helped elevate Eddie Kinkson and
13:18
I hope he continues for a strong twenty twenty four form. Doctor Try Yeah,
13:22
I Eddie Keseyes. Of those guys that he's kind of I don't see
13:26
he's the Kevin Owens of aw But when you look at and you're like,
13:30
yeah, he looks like a good fighter but not a pro wrestler. But
13:33
the dude can talk, the duke can work. He's got multiple styles you
13:37
can go with and then once the yeah, when you put a guy in
13:39
the ring with one of his best friends, they have a really damn good
13:41
match. Usually so back to back best friend matches and argument, two best
13:46
matches on the show, and then finally some Ojo defeats MJF to win the
13:50
AW World champions We both had MJF and never felt like MJF had a chance
13:56
against them Mojo during this match, as he's battling injury all throughout, injury
13:58
all throughout, Somemojo is your new AW World Champion and did so in dominating
14:03
fashion, ending the year long plus title reign of MGF. On a somewhat
14:07
sour note, Adam Cole revealing he was a devil working alongside Roger Strong,
14:11
Matt Tavin, Mike Bennett, and Wardlob to form Undisputed Kingdom, which is
14:15
an awful name, was predictable but made the most sense. It was Adam
14:18
Cole who convinced MGF too accept Someojo's offer in the first place and let him,
14:22
losing the roh tag titles and eventually the AW World Championship. The angle
14:26
works out well as I should give MGF some time off TV to recover from
14:31
injuries and allow the MGF fatigue to quiet down a bit to sell the angle.
14:35
I am optimistic that this angle injects some new life into the MGF character
14:39
in twenty twenty four, and that has me excited lots of different angles here,
14:43
Doctor Trey. But's first off, Samojo is our new aw world champion.
14:46
Yeah, and some of those things were like, if you had told
14:48
me a year ago that out of all the people on the roster to take
14:52
the bell from MGF, it be samo Joe, I probably said to you
14:54
were nuts, because it wasn't that long ago. The guy was relegated just
14:58
being a commentator. But four years ago he was stuck just being a commentator.
15:03
WrestleMania thirty seven he did from Tampa. Yeah, and then now you're
15:07
looking at him as being the focal player show. Now it's a great move
15:11
in the sense of he looks like he's a legit badass, he's one of
15:13
the nicest guys in wrestling, and the dude can talk. So it makes
15:16
a lot of sense on those levels. But when you look at the roster
15:18
of stars, you just jump Joe over everybody, which I'm four. I
15:24
love Somemo Joe. I love seeing in this position. And plus it's gonna
15:26
give us some great matchups down the line as well, So love the movie
15:30
that ass. And then, plus, like you said, it felt like
15:31
MJF never really had chance. I mean, the Dudegiti is like his The
15:35
left side of his body is barely the left Yeah, left side of his
15:39
body's barely working. And yet the guys out there, you know, wrestling
15:43
tag matches, wrestling singles matches, trying to carry the company on his shoulders.
15:46
So give the guy some time off the heel and and and get better
15:50
than when he comes back to the The pop that NBA will get when he
15:54
comes back, especially if they if they time it right, is will probably
15:58
be triple h massive, square guard esque when they pull that one off.
16:02
See it's funny you said that because I was thinking the same thing, like
16:03
of a return pop was very similar to that return. So pay perview prediction
16:10
record I went eight and two. Doctor Trey went seven and three. We
16:14
End twenty twenty three. I went one, thirty one forty seven. Doctor
16:17
Trey went one, twenty one and fifty seven. Match of the night and
16:21
event rating. I gave World's End at three point five. My match the
16:23
night was Adam Copland Christian Cage. I was not a big fan of this
16:26
pay per view Doctor Trey. Yeah, that's funny because we talked about off
16:30
air about recapping and I'm like, yeah, nothing really eventful happened. So
16:34
I was at a three point four. I felt it was eh, it
16:38
was average at best. My match the Knight was edge was Adam Copley Christian
16:42
Cage as well. So there you go, aw World Zen. I think
16:47
before we get into some other stuff that we missed here, I guess a
16:49
little bit more on the Undisputed Kingdom. The reveal of the Devil for Adam
16:53
Cole, Like I said in my recap of the match, it was the
16:57
most likely scenario, was the most predictable scenario. It didn't leave us feeling
17:03
disappointed, but it also didn't leave me feeling good either. I don't know.
17:11
I don't know what would have saved this angle, quite honestly. I
17:15
mean it's funny because after we recorded the preview bonus podcast we did, I
17:22
just was like starting to think, I'm like, oh, man, I
17:23
wish I picked Samoa Joe because the night before we did it, right after
17:27
that Dynamite where it was revealed he was working with the Devil, and it
17:32
was like, wait, it actually makes a ton of sense because Adam Cole
17:37
was the one saying you know, you need to accept Samojo's offer. So
17:41
it should not be a shock that he was revealed to be the devil because
17:45
he was the one encouraging MJF to make the deal with Samoa Joe. Really
17:52
predictable stuff, Doctor Trey. Again, I'm not disappointed. It's the safest
17:56
bet, it makes the most sense. But I guess I had higher expectations
18:02
hope for this angle. I didn't hate it, like as I lab with
18:07
you, like it made the most sense. It wasn't sam In Callahan,
18:12
which you know there were so many Look, I love David Callahan, but
18:17
Callahan's not on the level of at him Cole right, So like there really
18:22
wasn't. I mean, what would Dolph Zigler have made it better? Like
18:26
would somebody else have made it better? I mean, Mustapha Ali's not gonna
18:29
make the angle any better. You know, of all the free agents out
18:32
there, none of those guys would have made this any better. Hadham call
18:33
was the safe pick. And you know, you get to a lot of
18:37
intriguing storylines coming out, like you know, you know you saw him on
18:41
Dynamite, you know, telling you some about Joe Hey when I'm better like
18:45
Wardlow's coming after the aw title yet or next and when he gets in contention,
18:49
Joe Hope is not you because I would have hurt a friend. But
18:52
then Wardlow's going to forfeit the title to me, you know something that like
18:57
now you're setting up you know, potentially Wardlow. When Joe and they ward
19:00
Low and Adam Cole, then the ward Low face turned, you know,
19:03
so you're setting stuff up for down the road if you follow through with it.
19:08
Now, if you don't follow through that once again the angle falls flat
19:11
on his face. But it makes a lot of sense as far as for
19:15
Star Power stable group. I mean, hell, I'm pretty sure this has
19:18
more longevity than the Firm or or the Pinnacle, you know, any of
19:26
those groups that were around for like a month and then gone. So final
19:30
way. I also don't like the name the Undisputed Kingdom because it's too much
19:36
like the United Kingdom or and then you can't do a cool hand signal with
19:38
the K like you can't do like it links with the Unisputed Air and you
19:41
have the cool handsling, but it just feels like a rehash of NXT what
19:47
they did there a little bit with the Undisputed airs like you, there's a
19:49
lot of names out there you could have come up with that might have been
19:52
better. But then again we have the Judgment Day. So there you go.
19:56
That is true, and we actually now love the Judgment Day and you
20:00
kind of forget about the really bad name from time to time. But maybe
20:03
that'll fallow the same thing. I just they already did Undisputed Elite right with
20:07
the Undisputed Error when they came to aw and then you do it again where
20:10
you combine the Kingdom and Undisputed Error Undisputed Elite to make Undisputed Kingdom. It's
20:17
like like Judgment Day was not a great name, but this is like literally
20:22
taking two random words and putting them together. I mean, it's it's a
20:26
bizarre thing, but yeah, it was the safest bet, doctor Truit.
20:30
Maybe maybe the hieh in is because Adam Cole lost to MJF in the United
20:34
Kingdom and the I don't know, well, I mean you, I mean,
20:38
the full history on it is that Adam Cole was in the Kingdom with
20:44
Matt Tavin and Mike Bennett. Roger Strong was obviously in Undisputed era. So
20:48
let's just take two stables. One of them being a WWE stable and use
20:52
that name in AW and then you know Tony Cobbell then blast w W on
20:56
Twitter like he's presently doing this past week. It's it's bizarre. It's not
21:03
my favorite creative stuff that I've seen play out. Obviously, it's a safe
21:08
bet. It makes sense. Does it excite me as a wrestling fan?
21:12
Though? No? So is what it is. I do like stables.
21:18
So there's so many stables in AW that sometimes you just kind of go,
21:23
wait, aren't they still in a group? Like I forget who has broken
21:26
up and who hasn't broken up? Sometimes I'm like, wait, weren't they
21:29
like what? Like you lose track? Sometimes I just think it would have
21:33
it would have been creative if, let's say, just little small things like
21:37
keep wardlow in the group, pair Adam Cole up with the returning Kyle O'Reilly,
21:42
bring back Bobby Fish and pick God. I don't know who else has
21:52
let's say Max Castor or something. Who was a guy's name the Ring of
21:56
r TV Champion right now? Well he's in the He's in the Colls family.
22:00
Kyle Fletcher. Oh well, I thought dog Colls Faily is not really
22:03
a family it's basically like there's two guys and then he hires a bunch of
22:07
guys. No, no, no, they're I mean they're they're consistently a
22:11
stable unless Sam mcvar returns from concussion. So anyway, like and then have
22:17
where Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roger Strong are not in the group and
22:21
Adam Coles revealed to the devil. The entire time they were pushing that MJF
22:25
was a devil, and then they kind of become faces and feud with Adam
22:29
Cole and his three people, and it's not so predictable. All of a
22:33
sudden, Rogerck Strong and Tavin and Bennett they're really pushing the next Strong stuff.
22:37
They're getting over with the fans and they see that MGF wasn't the devil
22:42
that you know, they were the ones posting the signs all throughout, and
22:47
they're like, wow, MGF was right, he wasn't the devil, and
22:49
Adam Cole betrayed me. And Roger Trunk doesn't have to get off too far
22:53
from his current character that was screaming Adam's name and all that stuff, and
22:57
he'll get over with the fan base and you have a feud to have a
23:00
little bit of a stop gap while MGF is back, and when mgeff returns,
23:04
maybe he aligns with those guys. By the way, is Maria in
23:08
the group She's she's not. And I just found out because I don't watch
23:11
r OH. She's aligned with Cole Carter, who used to be two dimes
23:18
in NXT before he got popped for like smoking weed or something, and Griff
23:22
Garrison, who I guess are now a tag team in r o H,
23:26
which was mind blowing to me because Griff Garrison took on Adam Coplan on Collision
23:30
this past week And that's how I only found that out. Oh okay,
23:34
because yeah, there's a lot of shows I don't keep track of the secondary
23:40
and third line, and I'm like, r OH, I don't watch.
23:42
I can't do it. But I'm pretty sure at one point she was in
23:45
all the vignettes with yeah and and and Tavin. I'm like, yeah,
23:49
yeah, yeah, did they fire her? I mean, I don't know
23:53
if they actually wrote her off the storylines. I mean that's one of the
23:57
things that's always a big issue with AW and she used to be the theme
24:02
song and she would say like thy Kingdom Come and they would come out,
24:04
you'd hear her voice and that would be on the graphic on the screen and
24:07
all that stuff. But they like slowly faded her away and then had her
24:11
pair up with two guys Griff Garrison, Cole Carter and Roh. I guess
24:18
it does not make sense that thing, and that's just aw creative, like
24:22
at least tie up loose ends, and that's what's really good about WI right
24:26
now. So have some druthers here about the whole devil execution, but at
24:30
the end of the day, I totally understand why they did it. Sticking
24:34
with MJF. So the injury update on MJF. This comes to us from
24:38
the January second edition of Wrestling Observer Radio and also comes to us via Wrestling
24:44
Inc. Dave Meltz revealed that MGF is weighing all options when it comes to
24:48
recovery from his torn labram. This includes either rehabbing the shoulder, which would
24:52
allow him MJF to return to the ring sooner than expected, or opting for
24:55
a surgical procedure, which is believed to be the best option given the severity
24:59
to tear. It's unclear this time which direction MGF is leading in should MJFF
25:03
opt for surgery, would likely meet an extended absence for the former AW World
25:07
champion's recovery time from torm Laydrum's post surgery is said to take about for four
25:11
to six months, provided that there are no complications. This would keep MGF
25:15
off TV until at least the early summer, which would mean he would miss
25:19
at least AW Revolution in March, in AW Double or nothing in May,
25:23
though it would put him in a position to work AW all in at Wembley
25:26
Stadium in August. I'm not one to write off really good characters on television,
25:33
but I actually think MGF being out for a while doctor Trey with an
25:37
injury, should he do the surgery and be out for four to six months
25:41
months is a really good thing because MGFF even pointing out in himself during the
25:45
Players Forbune article that he wrote that I highly encourage everybody to check out that
25:49
there started to feel like there was MGF fatigue going on with the AW crowds.
25:53
I mean he was not even popped, Like there was not a loud
25:57
pop for him in Long Island, which was shocked. I think him going
26:02
away and you earlier in the show compared it to the return of Triple H.
26:06
I think him being away from injury is literally the best thing that could
26:08
be for him right now in his character. Yeah. I mean, you
26:11
look at WWE over the last decade, you know it's the biggest pops are
26:17
the returns from people who've been gone for a long time, whether it's you
26:21
know, I was off for you know, nine years somewhere else and just
26:25
left wrestling or injured like we mentioned Triple H, Madison Square one, John
26:29
Ceas return at the Rumple, the hardy boys at Wrestle Media, seem punks
26:33
return. A lot of these returns are people just absence makes the heart grow
26:37
fonder, and then also you do kind of get a little bit of shock
26:40
value when they finally do returns, like, oh my god, I forgot
26:44
how much I love this guy. And especially when you have such a subtle
26:48
heel to Babyface turn like MJF did, where there are still fans that are
26:52
not big MJF fans because of the fact that he was such a slam ball
26:56
for so long and it wasn't just a blatant out of no where baby Face
27:00
turned like we typically see or heel turn for that matter. So hey,
27:03
if he goes away for a little while, I do think it comes back
27:07
in the face. Hey, you may need to update the music a tad
27:11
like keep the same little part, but you might make it a little more
27:14
like I loose things altho sounds does he wanted to be jazzy? You want
27:17
to jazz it up? Yeah? Yeah, spice it up a little bit,
27:21
I guess, but a little saxophone, a little smooth jazz, a
27:23
little smooth jazz, MJF. You know. But you know, you know,
27:29
even when Austin turned heel they tweaked his music a little bit. There's
27:32
always little subtle tweaks you can make to kind of reepisode the poort, like
27:34
hey, this is a good guy now, Oh is a bad guy now?
27:37
But you know, taking some time off heel up. I just don't
27:41
know. I don't if you know this. Do they add time on for
27:45
injury like they do in WW if somebody's gone for six months? They do?
27:48
Yeah, And I know there's a lot of stuff here. Are you
27:49
going? The direction of his contract with AW right now? It would appear,
27:53
according to reports that he was locked up by AW almost like six months
27:59
ago because W resources have not spoken to him reportedly, and they all believe
28:03
that he was signed when I think when he like it was sometime over the
28:07
summer, they believe. Yeah, But then even then, like he's been
28:11
playing it up on social media the whole he's still been playing it up a
28:14
little bit. He's kind of walked back from that. I gotta be honest,
28:18
he was really hypeing it up and now he's very much like I want
28:21
to be the leader of aw Well, there you go, so at least
28:25
that way. I mean, I still think like when he comes back,
28:27
it's gonna be a huge megapop and then now you have your legitimate baby face
28:30
star that you can build a whole copy around it out just build off a
28:33
heel because now you can take Cole and the Kingdom and be that be your
28:37
major heel faction and then you know you still got I'm still looking for it,
28:41
like Joe and Brian, Joe and Moxley, Joe and Claudio, like
28:45
there's a lot of other magics that we could have for the next six months
28:48
to tie us over until the return of MJF. Yeah, I don't want
28:52
to lose sight of this. And just because of the way that the show
28:55
is going right now, there's a lot of stuff we have to cover.
28:56
I do want to mention that Samoa Joe is a world champion. A dominant
29:00
world champion is really fun for television. I loved his runs in NXT and
29:04
ROH in the early two thousands, so I'm excited for Joe. Plus getting
29:11
Joe as a legitimate world championship run in one of the two biggest companies there
29:15
is is good for the legacy of Joe. He has to become of those
29:19
guys who's like, yeah, he was never the top guy. Now he
29:23
has a chance to be the top guy for a while. To see how
29:27
he handles the ball and runs with him. I think hardcore wrestling fans appreciate
29:32
him, but I hope that this current run leads to more fans really appreciating
29:37
how damn good Samoa Joe is. Especially like almost twenty twenty five years,
29:41
he's gotten the game. I mean his runs in ROH, his time in
29:45
NXT. I wish the WWI run was a lot better. There were times
29:48
that was really really good and dominant. I think when he was US champion,
29:52
obviously the run is NXC champion. He had some injury issues. He
29:56
was a damn good commentator, but thank god he's no longer a commentator because
30:02
we should be watching in the ring stell. But Samo Joe is one of
30:04
the most underappreciated guys I feel like from the majority of wrestling fans, and
30:07
hopefully that changes course now as he is AW World champion on a top tier
30:15
United States wrestling organization. This story kind of started to take place Tuesday night,
30:22
and here we are covering on the show. I don't even know if
30:26
Doctor Trey knows about this, but Tony Khan has gotten back on the Twitter
30:32
x machine. Do you know about this, Doctor Trey? No? But
30:37
is he becoming the Donald Trump of Twitter? Ooh, it's in there.
30:41
It's definitely in there. This story comes to us from from Wrestling Inc.
30:47
AW President Tony Khan has often said that he is a wrestling fan first and
30:51
foremost, and that he approaches wrestling from a fan's perspective. CON's focus on
30:55
win loss records apparently isn't limited to all Lead wrestling, as CON has been
30:59
keeping tabs on the window losses of WE stars as well, including that a
31:03
former w champion Gender Mahall, who will wrestle seth rollins for the World of
31:06
Theweight Championship on next week's w w raw. Con posted on Twitter quote a
31:11
double standard hook he does hook's handle twenty eight to one career record on winning
31:17
street, calls out the champsamojoe a logical challenge, sparks online online online outrage
31:25
Gender has literally lost every single match he's in for the past year. Immediately
31:29
gets title shot. Where is the rage? Hashtag aw dynamite tomorrow on TBS,
31:34
he tweets, not satisfied with just one outburst. Con then took his
31:41
war against them hall to USA Network directly. USA Network tweeted, replying to
31:48
Raj Gurie, who is a wrestling journalist, quote, what was the cage
31:52
match rating? Tony Kahan responded, A morale victory for USA is one win
31:57
more than their world title challenge or Gender Mahall has in the past three hundred
32:01
and sixty four days, because it's been literally a full year since he won
32:05
a match. Con wrote, quote, tweeting a post from the night before
32:08
in which the USA Network's official account made a joke about cage match, which
32:14
is CON's often cited source for the quality of his programming. Quote, you
32:20
really put Awn r place getting Gender Mahall in a big match on your TV
32:22
show? Do it more often? CON's tweets to not go unnoticed. WWE
32:28
broadcaster Corey Graves was quick to tweet support for gender Mahall. He tweeted gender
32:35
Rules. Billy Ray reacted to Corey Graves's tweet with a pop. Dax Harwood
32:43
seemingly fired back to Graves' tweet with a similar message, saying hook rules,
32:47
hashtag aw dynamite, and then Gender Mahall responded to Tony Kahn's tweet, who
32:54
TF For those who don't know what that means, the fuck is hook question
32:59
mark and then in capital letters watch Monday Night Raw on at USA Network Monday,
33:04
eight pm Eastern making fun of Tony Khan. Tony Khan has also gone
33:10
off on Eric Bischoff, who responded to all these tweets of Tony Khan by
33:15
putting a clown emoji. Tony Khan was like basically calling him out on stuff
33:22
and the same old Tony Khan bs. Quite honestly, I saw this Doctor
33:30
Trey like the tweet from USA Network is gold because they take a shot at
33:36
Tony Khan. Tony Khan has really thin skin, like really thin skin,
33:43
And I know that this is going to come off like, well, he's
33:45
defending his product, but how about you just don't respond at all, Like
33:50
I don't care what his thoughts are on gender Mahal, Like I get it
33:55
right, the gender mahal stuff, Like, yeah, he probably shouldn't be
34:00
getting a role title match. Tony Khan is not wrong in that sense,
34:04
but Dustin Rhodes should not be taken on one of your top stars Swarve Strickland
34:07
to fill in for an injury replacement for over twenty five minutes or wherever the
34:12
hell it was. I'll actually look it up at your pay per view,
34:15
like it makes sense, but make it a squash match, like they should
34:19
have ended it with the cement block and that was it. Like I know
34:23
that there was a mention about well Abadon got a title match against Julia Hart,
34:28
and Tony Kah came back and said, well, she won a fatal
34:30
four way she was gone for a while. It's just so damn stupid.
34:36
Which, by the way, according to Wikipedia, the Swart Strickland Dustin Roads
34:39
match went for nine minutes and thirty seconds. But I think the overall segment
34:44
was well over fifteen to twenty minutes. Yeah, it was wayla And I
34:46
know this is all breaking to you, doctor Trey, because it all took
34:50
place literally hours before you and I sat down to do a podcast tonight.
34:54
Yeah. I'm only laughing because in my head, I'm like, Okay,
34:58
when Jinner won the world title a few years ago, you and I were
35:01
both like, what the hell like? But Jender had a decent run.
35:06
Wasn't the best roun in the world, but it wasn't bad. But he
35:09
has also been injured for most of the last three hundred and sixty five days,
35:15
so that's probably not why he hasn't really won a match in last three
35:19
season five days because he was injured for most of that. But the guy
35:23
does hold wins over shins k Nakamura and Randy Orans form a world champion.
35:29
Hook is twenty years old and beat Wheeler Yuda, so there is a difference
35:35
in the credibility behind that. So is Tony con gonna say the miz who
35:40
just won his first match in over a year two weeks ago because he hasn't
35:46
won to match the years and deserving of a title shot, even though the
35:50
guy's held every title in ww twice at least, Like wins and losses are
35:57
great. If you're trying to build somebody but was already built, it doesn't
36:00
matter anymore, you know. It's to me, like, that's the epitomy
36:05
of like of your like you said, being thin skinned. And if if
36:08
I had been gender Mahal, I would have been like, who or who
36:12
tf is Hook send Vere like I would have played off that. But it's
36:16
just it's mind boggling to me that the owner of a company is going to
36:21
get mad that somebody else that get shot at his company because of that.
36:24
Like, it's just it's the whole thing to me is laughable at best,
36:29
because I mean, as much as we love to kind of poke at gender,
36:34
do you look at his credibility the guy, you know, it has
36:36
been a credible as incredible history. He arguably is a borderline Hall of Famer
36:42
based on his career in WWE. So and like I said, Hook is
36:47
twenty years old and just beat Wheeler Yuda and his biggest win is probably over
36:52
Jack Perry. Yeah. Yeah, I mean here's the thing, right,
36:58
I'm strolling through Twitter as you talking Dustin Rhodes tweets out, guys with a
37:02
bunch of dot dot dot dot dot, just enjoy wrestling. We love to
37:06
do it for you. Light up on the tribalism as I keep stepping like
37:09
USA Network. Yeah, they had a subtle tweet at Tony Kahan, but
37:14
why respond right, like, why respond the whole thing? I actually like
37:20
that genders get a title match. I'm not the biggest gender Mahaal fan of
37:22
all time, obviously, but I like he was in the ring with the
37:27
Rock a week ago. He's in the ring with a segment for Seth Ronds.
37:31
It makes sense the progression here, and I like that they didn't just
37:37
completely bury gender Mahall with the segment with the Rock, which I think any
37:39
wrestler would be, like, you're not being buried when you're in the ring
37:43
with one of the biggest recognizable faces and entertainment in the United States and the
37:50
world with one hundred and seventy one plus million views on social media. Because
37:53
Wodo likes to trumpet that like crazy, you're in the ring with that,
37:58
that isn't necessarily a burial. He almost gets rewarded by having a saying with
38:01
Seth Ron's a week later and then gets rewarded again with having a match.
38:05
I like that they're kind of, you know, rebooting gender a little bit
38:09
here. Unless Jenner get squashed on this Monday's edition in RAW. I mean,
38:14
this isn't happening at the Royal Rumble. It's happening on RAW. I
38:16
like the progression here. I kind of dig the creative doctor Trey. Yeah,
38:22
and once again, is anybody it's a main event on Monday Night Raw.
38:27
It's not the main event of a PL it's not the main event of
38:30
Royal Rumble. It's the main event of a Monday Night Raw. And also
38:34
their champion asked for the match, which is st storyline driven hook somemo.
38:40
Joe didn't ask to Wressell hook hook what's going after the champ And that's kind
38:46
of how you set up a storyline. And if he had just let it
38:49
go and let it play it on TV the way that you're supposed to do
38:52
it, people have been like, oh, this is kind of like Joe
38:57
against Baby Task. I can get all with this, and there's a lot
39:00
of similarities and that that way it would have worked. But to start taking
39:05
shots at the other people's product because your feelings got hurt now diminishes what you're
39:10
trying to do. Like I don't think w F now if Waba said,
39:14
hey, the main event of the Royal Rumble is gonna be Seth Rawn's against
39:16
Gender Mahal, yeah, there would have been an uproar. But to be
39:21
the main event of a Monday Night Raw, I don't think the fans are
39:24
expecting much of this, and this is probably setting up something else for Seth
39:29
to do at the Rumble. So you let it go and you play off
39:32
of it, and you're right, like Gender's not out there. It wasn't
39:36
like Gender's out there with you know, random NXT call up. He's out
39:39
there in the ring with the Rock. Then he's out there in the ring
39:43
with Seth Rollins. That's how you've building credibility up. And then your announcers
39:47
bringing the fact that hey, he's a former world champion who had a who
39:52
has victories over Randy Orton and Schinz k Nakamora, who main event in Monday
39:57
Night Raw that night. That's how you build the credibility able to have to
40:00
do win win loss records. It makes sense. The full thing is really
40:05
silly. I mean, when I saw Hook challenging Samoa Joe. When I
40:07
heard him say, like, I want to go for a title, I'm
40:08
like, man, is he gona? They're going to go like the Orange
40:10
Cassid route. And when they said I'm going to go for the world championship,
40:14
I was like, ohh that's boy, that's bold. But it's the
40:17
beginning of it. And I always kind of dig like I'm One of my
40:22
favorite matches of all time is July eleventh, nineteen ninety four, the one
40:28
two three Kid took on Brett Hart for the w WF Championship on Monday Night
40:31
Raw, and he was a complete under underdog, and it's a phenomenal match,
40:37
maybe one of the greatest matches in raw history. And I like that
40:39
stuff, like if Samoa Joe is able to help put over Hook a little
40:44
bit, then that's really good for his character. I mean, yeah,
40:46
I did I have massive online outrage, but no whatsoever. I mean I
40:52
was kind of like, wow, that's bold. I didn't see them going
40:53
in that direction. Maybe Hook versus Eddie Kingston that would have been pretty cool,
40:58
but they're going for the top dog. They're going for Coude gra and
41:00
I just so creatively it works out well. I think to me the biggest
41:04
thing is the creative of Ginger Mahal. Yes he has it one in a
41:07
while, but on the short term it makes sense as to why seth Ron's
41:10
whatever a problem with him challenging for the title. Blah blah blah. Aw
41:15
creative most of the time is intermittent, discombobulated, not smooth. It's a
41:22
pumpy road sometimes, And I think that's what Tony Kahan needs to be taking
41:27
a look at a little bit, because what WWE is doing creatively is working.
41:30
What AW is doing creatively, quite frankly, is not. In all
41:35
honesty and the Twitter stuff. It's a huge turnoff for me as a fan.
41:37
Dout Trail. At the end of the day, like, I love
41:39
the AW product. I will watch Dynamite, I watch Collision Rampage, I'll
41:44
watch the pay per views. I'll continue to be a fan. But it's
41:47
it's like it's like being a fan of a sports team. This like almost
41:52
I guess you and I are both NFL fans, Niners fan, doctor Tream
41:55
a Packers fan. This can be compared terrible to being like a fan of
42:01
the Washington Commanders, the former Redskins when Dan Snyder was in charge, right,
42:06
Like, you love your team. You're with them when they're good,
42:09
you're with them when they're bad, you're with them when they're mediocre. But
42:13
the person running the ship is a looney, batshit crazy asshole sometimes, Oh
42:19
you're And that's what you guys have, that you're a Yankee fad you used
42:22
to have. George Steinbrenner, That is true. That is the same thing
42:24
as well. And it's like you love them when you're doing good and you
42:29
dislike them when they're doing bad. That's how I kind of feel right now.
42:31
It's like I love aw but I just wish he stayed off a Twitter.
42:36
I don't need him to like stoke the flames and in all honesty,
42:39
like and I don't know if this is tongue in cheet, I don't know
42:43
if they know one another, but I don't like that he's you know,
42:46
pushing, you know, running Ginger's name down like that. And I don't
42:51
like that Ginger's running Hook's name down like that. Like we don't need that
42:54
shit unless they're dming one another and being like, hey man, just playing
42:58
this up. This is just you know, work, working the fans and
43:00
all that stuff, fine, but there's no need to like take a shot
43:05
in a wrestler like gender from another company in my opinion. Yeah, and
43:08
you know, I don't know if they know each other. I don't.
43:13
I don't think hook knows gender mahal. I don't think really gender is run
43:16
in Tony Kahn circles. But at the end of the day, all you're
43:20
doing is there's all saying like you don't you never bury your opponent. You
43:23
kind of give them props. It is that way when you beat them,
43:25
like you actually beat somebody. And if you bury your opponent and then you
43:30
beat them, you didn't beat anybody. You beat a nobody. And that's
43:34
one of the little takeaways from you know, pro wrestling, pro bo one
43:37
oh one that I've always kind of you know, taken to with the in
43:40
everyday life, like I'd never bury like in my line of work, like
43:45
I'm competing against other products, I don't bury any other products. I always
43:47
say, hey, these are good, these are good. Ours is just
43:50
better, you know, because then if you choose us, you chose us
43:52
because we're the best, not because everybody else sucks. It's the same thing
43:57
here, I will say d also don't forget Seth Just Russell drewmackintire. He's
44:02
now wrestling Gender Mahal. Both members are three mb both for WOR World champions.
44:07
This leads to return of Heaths later at the Royal Robe to challenge Seth
44:09
Rawlins. Yeah, no, I hear you, I hear it's just uh
44:15
got kids kids, he does. Yeah, wrestling Twitter is uh is going
44:21
off right now? That's certainly what it is, and it's just kind of
44:24
at the end of the day, it's dumb. It's all dumb, dumb,
44:27
dumb um carrying on here from Gender Mahall back at the day one edition
44:32
of Monday Night Raw the Rock returned, he called out Roman Reigns Doctor Trey.
44:37
Uh, I gotta be honest with you. I watched it live,
44:42
loved when the Rock came out. Immediately was like, Wow, where is
44:45
this going? I hope this is not just a one time deal. And
44:50
uh, I should have seen it coming. But I don't know about you.
44:52
I don't know if I was tired it was New Year's Day. I
44:54
don't know if I was coming off of being up late to watch the ball
44:58
drop for no fucking reason. I Uh, when he started saying should I
45:05
want to go out and eat? Should I sit in a booth or sit
45:07
at the bar? I was like, where the hell is he going?
45:10
And then it like at that moment it clicked in. I was like,
45:14
or should I sit at the head of the table, Like I popped for
45:16
that one. It caught me off guard, which means I was off my
45:20
a game, I think, unless maybe you were following it as well and
45:22
you're like, is he going there? It caught me off guard, but
45:25
I love it. We don't know when this match is going to be taking
45:29
place. There's some thoughts that Perth Australia wants to Rocket elimination chamber. That
45:32
doesn't necessarily mean he'll wrestle Roman Reigns an elimination chamber. We do know what
45:37
Roman Rangs's match will beat the Royal Roombol, which we'll cover here momentarily in
45:40
the direction there. But could we be getting Roman versus Rocket wrestle Mainey forty.
45:46
Nonetheless, it seems like here in the first quarter of twenty twenty four
45:51
Dot Trey, not only do we get the Rocks in ring return, but
45:53
it's going to be against Roman Reigns. It's just when and where do we
45:58
think this match will happen. Yeah. So, by the way, this
46:00
goes back to when we did our Bull like our WrestleMania preview prediction show,
46:05
I took Rock and Roman off my car because of you, same saying I
46:08
took it off because of me as well, So you're not alone. We're
46:12
both in agreement on that one. It was all my fault because that was
46:15
my pick for a while and I was like, Okay, I'm gonna go
46:17
with Jeff on this one and take it off the car. But like watching
46:22
it, it was weird because the segment with gender was kind of done and
46:27
then they were winding it down. I'm like, okay, this is where
46:29
he gets some little jokes here and gets his little stuff in there. And
46:31
then I was like, I'm gonna go out to eat. I'm like,
46:34
is he about to make a Sea World joke about being the mammal with the
46:37
largest penis or something. I was waiting. I didn't know where it was
46:40
going, and then I caught I was like, oh, I see what
46:45
he did there. I'm like, damn, they're lining up everybody to go
46:50
after Rome. Because Punk called about a couple of weeks ago, you still
46:52
got Cody fishing this story. Now I got the Rock in the bakes.
46:54
I'm like, this is gonna be a really really interesting Wrestle Maybius because you
47:00
know, you go back, you know, it wasn't that long ago we
47:04
did Rock and Sina and it was Rock defeating CM Punk, you know,
47:07
right before Wrestle Media to be rub I think it was to become the world
47:12
champion, to lead into that match with Sina. So it's like, wow,
47:15
there's a lot of moving parts here. I'm just waiting for Punk to
47:19
come out and start calling him Dwayne all the time again. All that fun
47:22
stuff like this made Wrestle Media season way more interesting than already was, and
47:28
it was already beginning to be a very very interesting Wrestle Media season. Yeah,
47:31
because there's so many different directions right now. There's a lot of people
47:35
gunning for the World Championship, both of them the world hey winning championship in
47:38
the undisputed Universal Championship, and that's how it should be heading into the Royal
47:43
Rumble. Like the amount of intrigued for this match. Drew McIntyre wants to
47:45
shot, Cody Rhades wants to shot. He wants to finish his story,
47:49
see him. Punk wants a shot, he wants to headline WrestleMania, and
47:52
you've got the Rock looming, like, okay, so how is the Rock
47:55
going to earn that championship match. My feeling and my thoughts are is that
48:01
this is not gonna be some sort of segment where Rock is going to challenge
48:06
Roman reigns to a match, Roman accepts it, and then we have the
48:08
match at WrestleMania. I think Rock is wrestling an elimination chamber. I think
48:13
the winner of the Royal Rumble will be the person who challenges for the will
48:16
Avyweight Championship, and then that Universal title will be a shot will be on
48:21
the line in an elimination chairer match, and I think the Rock wrestles in
48:22
that elimination chamber match. I think we end up getting Rock and Roman for
48:27
Wrestling forty and I'm fine with that. I'm a fan of Cody Rhodes.
48:30
I want to see him finish his story, but if it means that we
48:32
take a little bit of a different, you know, half time break from
48:37
that and do it save it for maybe a Summer Slam or maybe Wrestle eighty
48:42
forty one. But as long as we eventually get there. I think Rock
48:45
and Roman is the direction of what they need to do, and they need
48:49
that for WRESTLINGA forty in my opinion. So you think it's Rock all,
48:53
you think Rock's actually in the chamber match itself or one on one with the
48:59
Rumble winner. You mean, do I think he wrestles the rumble winner?
49:04
Well, no, I'm saying, like you said, the shot at the
49:07
oversual titles on the line at Elimination Chamber, do you see it, because
49:09
I I think that would be I think what they do is whoever wins the
49:15
Rumble is the one who challenges for the World Heavyweight Championship, And I would
49:21
say at Elimination Chamber, you have an elimination Chamber match and the winner of
49:24
that is the one who gets the title shot for the Universal title at Wresselman
49:30
forty, which they've done that type of booking in the past. Yeah.
49:34
My only thing with that is Rock's fifty, and that's not the easiest match
49:37
to be in for the first especial for your first match back in Yeah.
49:42
Ye. Now, I would not condone this because I'm not a fan of
49:44
this. This is like brock Lesner type booking, and I think they used
49:46
to do this with the Undertaker as well when he would be in elimination chamber
49:50
matches. But you do have if you have the raw, come out last.
49:52
Yeah, and he said there for five to ten minutes, which is
49:54
not my favorite thing to do, but that could be a way they could
49:59
protect him. So I I do like the WrestleMania idea. My other idea
50:04
was like, you set this up to get the Summer Slam also, because
50:08
there's nothing there. You can still do Rock and Johnstone against Solo at Roman.
50:14
I think that, but I think that they're you're saying that for WrestleMania.
50:17
Well, no, no, not for media. I think you start
50:20
settling in the groundwork for the magazine Rock and Roman. But I think they're
50:24
doing it soon though I don't think you tease it. I don't think you
50:27
tease it on January first, and don't do it at the Rumble or WrestleMania.
50:30
I don't think you're setting it up for Summer Slam. I just I
50:35
don't know. The part of me is just like I feel bad if it's
50:37
not Cody and Roman at wrestle you know, like I hear you, I
50:42
hear you, but that could add to it a little bit, right,
50:44
that could add to the the story being written. Yeah, but then do
50:47
you have Roman beat the Rock at WrestleMania? Hold on, let's let's just
50:52
throw this out there. Does Cody need to beat Roman at WrestleMania for this
50:55
story to and him to become world champion to be complete? Or can he
50:59
do it a SummerSlam? No? I think he needs a I really think,
51:02
especially after losing last year, I think he needs a wrestled Badia moment.
51:07
What's the what's the money maker? Is it Cody Roman? Like talk
51:10
talk, as a as a wrestling fan and as someone that looks at it
51:15
as a business. What is the money match? And what is the wrestling
51:17
fan match? The wrestling fan match is Cody and Roman agreed? And then
51:22
the money match though is rock and Rollman because you're gonna get all the eyes
51:27
in the world. But then it's like, do you slide Cody into the
51:30
seth of Rollins, seem Punks us and make it a triple for that match,
51:34
because if you take Cody out of the Roman match, who who's another
51:38
big heel? I mean, is it drew Back and Tire? Then you
51:42
can slot him in with and that's still I could see that direction. I
51:45
think Drew and Cody would be a lot of fun actually, and I thought
51:47
that was a direction they were going to go once Drew started teasing being a
51:52
heel and was like, it was because you know Cody that jay Usso was
51:57
brought to Raw, like that would make sense. And they didn't do that
52:00
right away, and I thought that was the direction. I think because he
52:02
left. I think he like didn't help Cody out who was getting a beat
52:07
down or something like that. He made the say for jay Uso and I
52:12
was like, ooh, I think they're gonna go. And we talked about
52:13
the podcast. It was like, I think they're gonna go Cody and Drew,
52:15
and they didn't, which shocked me. And they may be saving that
52:19
as a plan b if Rock was coming for Rustlemania to take on Roman.
52:23
Yeah, I think, and I think we talked about it back then that
52:27
this may be laying that backup plan if they if they are able to get
52:32
the Rock, because back then we were talking about I think they have them,
52:36
yeah right, and then they kind of moved away from it. This
52:38
is where I go back to we talked about it a few like a couple
52:42
of months ago. Like I always buy into now the additional reports that come
52:47
out, and then when they backpedal and we go, okay, they're backpedaling,
52:51
they're not going to do this, and then the initial reports always comes
52:53
true. It's like, Yeah, they talked about Rock and Rope at wrestled
52:59
Madia fortyfi, and we talked about the show, like how cool would that
53:01
be because it was the rumble in Philadelphia when they booed you know, Roman
53:07
out of the building, the Rocks out there trying to save and the crowd
53:09
was going DUTs. That was in Philadelphia, Like how cool would that be
53:13
to come full circle that that's your big money batch in Philadelphia is Rock and
53:15
Roman. And also all these reports came out that all they can't get Rock
53:20
to create anything. The schedule's crazy, that the writer strikes over. If
53:22
everybody's back to acting as our stuff, I'm just gonna start taking first sure
53:29
thoughts when they come out, and that's where we're gonna go with them that
53:30
one. So yeah, so I think the right time for the match Rock
53:37
and Romans Russell Maani forty what do you say, Doctor Trey? Ultimately,
53:42
yeah, I mean that's what they teased on the Young Rock It had to
53:45
be a WrestleMania match, So yeah, I think I mean from a business
53:50
standboy point to really awesome. If you really want to push some distance between
53:55
yourself and your number two, Yeah, you bring back arguably the big his
54:00
name in wrestling to compete at wrestle Media against family as well. So there's
54:04
so much intrigue. Oh my gosh, Jeff, we might be able to
54:07
get the Rocks mob involved, like we talked about a couple of years ago.
54:10
I did pitch that idea and Doctor Trey loveda So stay tuned. I
54:14
will have a lot to talk about Rock and Roman here in the coming weeks.
54:17
I do want to mention again the Rumble match right now. There's a
54:21
lot of good booking going into that men's Rumble match right now that I'm really
54:23
excited about. It's like a horse race of who wants a title shot,
54:28
and that's how it should be really good creative booking right now. By w
54:30
heading into that match, one of my favorites of the year, the Royal
54:32
Rumble. Speaking of Roman reigns and the Royal Rumble, we has gone with
54:38
a fatal four way match for Roman reigns his next big title match at the
54:43
Rumble, He'll be taking on Randy Or and aj Styles and La Night.
54:47
The belief from at least me, I know we debated this just before the
54:51
Holidays, was that I thought it was gonna be Roman, Rains and Randy
54:53
Orn at the Rumble. Dave Meltzer had the following quote in regards to that,
54:58
saying, the original idea was Roman and Randy Orton for the Rumble.
55:01
Essentially, there were parties involved who did not want to beat Randy Orton this
55:05
early and just felt that there's money to be made with Randy Orton Roman in
55:07
a program at some point, but it's too soon to do it. Doctor
55:12
Trey. I like that thinking, and it makes a ton of sense.
55:15
I like that thinging too, because what that also creates is if your long
55:20
term booking is you know, Rock and Rolling, Normania, Rock and Cody
55:23
fishing the story and then you still got the Randy Orton stuff in there,
55:27
that means Rock's not going I mean that means Roman's not going away anytime soon,
55:30
which is always of our worries where it gets to Wrestle Badia season.
55:32
So because as long as Roman's on TV. It's entertaining and it keeps us
55:38
intrigued. You know they're they're right, and it says like Orton has I
55:44
mean, his pops have been massive since he came back, Like the crowd
55:46
is really really loving the Brandy organ. I'm still wait to see how much
55:52
more leverage I can give with AJ. Stuck is AJ coming back? AJ
55:54
looks phenomenal, so like all these guys are coming back in the best shape
55:58
of their careers. Plus La Night's still super over with the crowd, so
56:02
it makes a lot of sense to get these building parts of it, because
56:05
hey, do you set up La Knight and AJ for media? Is La
56:07
not? You know, what are you doing with him? You start what
56:09
you do with Aj. You had the stuff with the club asking AJ why
56:14
they didn't mention it, like, you know, bring up to them that
56:15
he was coming back. There's a lot of moving parts, which I love
56:19
this right now, the way the book he's going. I don't know about
56:22
you, but this it's attitude era, a top of the card esque.
56:25
No, I'm not saying as far as the writing and the adult stuff,
56:29
but back in those days you could mix and match any top any of the
56:34
six or eight top stars of the company to have compelling storylines breakout of it
56:38
at any given moments. And that's kind of where I feel like right now,
56:42
We're like it's super top heavy, but in a good way right now.
56:45
In WWE, Yeah, I was thinking that the other night when I
56:49
was watching Raw, actually, when they were promoting the Cody Road Chinsky Knackamor
56:52
match. I'm like, the build for this TV feud and match, this
56:55
payoff match has been great. It's been a lot of fun, and that's
57:00
been a lot of their booking. They were running vignettes for SmackDown and like
57:04
this Friday SmackDown Bianca bell Air versus Bailey, and I was like, that
57:07
makes a ton of sense, and I like that, and that's what aw
57:09
was doing at one point as well, and then they kind of got away
57:12
from it. They seem to only do it with Dynamite for some reason,
57:15
like have matches that make sense. The other shows are really much like Seat
57:20
of your Pants, But the creative booking from w is like above and beyond
57:23
what's going on in any other resting promotion. Right now, moving forward here,
57:29
we just got a couple of things we want to quickly hit. Kevin
57:30
Dunn retired from WE. He was the W Executive producer in chief of Global
57:36
television Distribution. He was with the company for over thirty years. He started
57:39
back in ninety three. He was fitzick Man's right hand man on the TV
57:45
production side and responsible for a lot of famous shots that we've seen over the
57:49
years. And you're starting to see changes in W's very subtle changes in w's
57:52
TV production. This past Monday's edition of Raw. If anybody was watching closely,
57:59
I love the Tomasso Champa promo where he was walking out to the ring
58:02
with Johnny Gargano going out for his match with Finn Baller. I thought that
58:07
was great. There's these little subtle changes that we're seeing in their production and
58:10
how they're taking the television element that I'm really digging right now. And it's
58:15
a little bit different stuff we haven't seen in wrestling and is entertaining. It
58:20
makes sense. So it's a big, big change here. Doctor Trey fitzig
58:24
Man's former right hand man, Kevin Dunn, responsible for television ONWE Television for
58:29
well over thirty plus years, no longer. The company's retired back on January
58:34
one of this past year. Are you surprised he made it this long since
58:37
after Vince left? That thought is that when Vince left, Kevin Dudd would
58:42
leave shortly thereafter. Yeah. Yeah, and a lot of people we were
58:46
shocked as well internally that he stayed with the company as long as he did.
58:50
Yeah. It we always kind of felt like it might be like a
58:52
transitionary here. But I mean it's been almost a year and a half since
58:54
Vince basically kind of left the company, So, I mean he was all
59:00
also one of those lightning grads. When people wanted to criticize WW, they
59:02
blamed Kevin Dunn for stuff. So but I mean for over thirty years,
59:06
the guys, the television product has never wavered. We've never said production in
59:10
ww's lacking. It's always been creative or something else. The TV shows have
59:15
always looked great, The shots have always been great. He was really really
59:17
good in his role of those things. He was just maybe a little too
59:22
stubborn to change with things because some of the elements they're adding in or stuff
59:24
that we've seen in other shows, whether it's TNAAW, they're adding in some
59:29
elements that you know a little bit more behind the curtain type stuff that typically
59:34
WW has never done unless it was a produced shot kind of like you know,
59:38
backstage dollars like that. We've never really seen those pre entrance interviews like
59:44
we've seen in other companies. So they're taking some modern elements and adding into
59:47
their bag of tricks, which is something that Events Kevin Dunnshow probably would have
59:52
never done. And the last thing I want to come here is our first
59:54
edition of the twenty twenty four Free Agent Roundup. Or rumors that Andrade will
1:00:00
be going to WWW that has not taken place yet as we record this.
1:00:06
Deanna Pirazzo goes from Impact Wrestling to AW. She debuted on last week's edition
1:00:09
of AW. Dynamite. Mercedes mone is expected to land in AW. Maybe
1:00:15
she debuted on Wednesdays edition of Dynamite, which has been rumored, but she
1:00:17
was also rumored to debut the week prior. Naomi is expected to return to
1:00:22
w WI Trendingyfa Twu from Impact Wrestling to WWW. Reportedly she will be in
1:00:29
the Rubble Match it's looking like, and former NWA Women's World Champion Camill is
1:00:35
expected to be in WWE NXT here soon, Doctor Trey. Those are our
1:00:38
first little tidbits from the free agent roundup of a big year ahead in twenty
1:00:45
twenty four. Yeah, do you know much about Camille Have you seen her
1:00:47
before? I've not, it's been a little bit, but I know that
1:00:53
she's a great worker. I think she did some stuff on AW television.
1:00:58
I think she actually defended the Champian Chip at a pay per view if I
1:01:00
remember correctly. Yes, in the early in the early year the Daily plays,
1:01:07
Yeah, she's she's a she's a really good worker. She looks like
1:01:12
a million bucks, like she's like I remember how how how in in love
1:01:16
you were with Charlotte and NXC Camills in that same kind of build motif of
1:01:21
her, like, uh, but that's a great signing. Leanna Barazzo is
1:01:24
gonna be an underrated signing for a W because she is a fantastic wrestler.

Her work in TNA Impact was was, you know, phenomenal trinity. Coming
1:01:35
back to W's gonna be interesting because I want to see if they if they
1:01:37
actually mixed her into the bloodline stuff, because, uh, since they broke
1:01:40
up the diad that whole thing, like Ave is now working with Sean Michaels,
1:01:45
which is kind of odd, but it's giving her some more promo times.
1:01:50
So maybe they move they move Trinity over into the stuff with Jimmy and
1:01:52
Jay when we get to Wrestle Media season, and that's a good tie in
1:01:55
for that. So yeah. I mean, also, I've been I've been
1:02:00
hearing some out Alex Hammerston's one of the guys we mentioned, you know previously,
1:02:05
back in December. His MLW contract came up, and there are some
1:02:08
rebelies that w's looking inside him and bring him into XC two. And that
1:02:12
dude is one of those like just incredibly built pro wrestlers they use. Look
1:02:17
at yo. Yeah, that guy's that guy is pro wrestling. I know
1:02:22
he is due to take on Josh Alexander TNA Hard to Kill this weekend.
1:02:27
Yeah, and you know how much I love Josh Alexanders. That's a huge
1:02:29
fan. Really good So ago some of our twenty twenty four free agent round
1:02:34
up. I'm sure there's gonna be more of this coming here. I expect
1:02:37
some of those names like Andrade and Mercedes Monet to have a home somewhere by
1:02:40
the end of this month. Maybe it will take place by the end of
1:02:43
