Speaker 1: Hi everybody. Hi, Hi Catherine, Hi Chelsea, how are you.
• 0:04
  Speaker 2: I'm good.
• 0:05
Speaker 1: I'm just todays Critics Choice Awards, so I will be.
• 0:07
Speaker 2: I will be returning to my birth network of E
• 0:11
Speaker 2: to host they thirtieth Wow thirtieth Critics. It's their thirtieth
• 0:17
Speaker 2: anniversary of the Critics Choice Awards, and this is my
• 0:20
  Speaker 2: third hosting gig.
• 0:22
Speaker 3: Fantastic, I mean, it all worked out.
• 0:24
Speaker 1: It all worked out.
• 0:25
Speaker 2: I got shoulder surgery about ten days ago, just in
• 0:27
Speaker 2: time to wear a strapless gown fighting an infection. I
• 0:32
Speaker 2: am getting intravenus drugs every twenty four hours. I haven't
• 0:34
Speaker 2: had a drink in about ten days, and I don't
• 0:36
Speaker 2: think I'll be able to have one for another six weeks.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: So who knows. This could be the beginning of my
• 0:40
Speaker 1: sober life. I know the parties and be like, who
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: needed alcohol anyway?
• 0:45
Speaker 4: Who even needed it? He just like goes over to
• 0:46
Speaker 4: all these parties. Grades Yeah, exactly.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: Now, Actually, what my schedule is is last night they
• 0:52
Speaker 2: took out my pick line, which is what they used
• 0:54
Speaker 2: to give me intravenous drugs for this infection that I got,
• 0:58
Speaker 2: And tonight afterward show in a very glorious fashion. I
• 1:02
Speaker 2: come straight home so they can reinstall the pick line.
• 1:05
Speaker 2: Oh fantastic, that's my after party. Everybody so sexy, so exciting, Chelsea.
• 1:12
Speaker 4: I have to tell you about something that happened to
• 1:15
Speaker 4: me recently, and I have been waiting to tell you
• 1:16
  Speaker 4: about this.
• 1:17
Speaker 3: Okay. I was at the gym working with my trainer
• 1:20
  Speaker 3: last week.
• 1:21
Speaker 1: Hopefully sons hard boiled eggs.
• 1:23
Speaker 4: I'd brought no hard boiled eggs, and I didn't even
• 1:25
Speaker 4: let my shoes smell like hardboil eggs there.
• 1:27
Speaker 2: But the story, the story is already better just by
• 1:30
Speaker 2: not having hard boiled eggs in it.
• 1:31
Speaker 3: Let me tell you.
• 1:32
Speaker 4: I was like laying on my back doing some like
• 1:34
Speaker 4: you know, ad work, that sort of thing, and I
• 1:37
Speaker 4: see walk up about three feet from my face, bare feet,
• 1:42
Speaker 4: beargar at the gym, bear men's feet, just walking around,
• 1:46
Speaker 4: and my trainer turns the guy and goes, wear your shoes. Man.
• 1:50
Speaker 4: I just want to tell you this man. He's a boomer,
• 1:53
Speaker 4: white gentleman. He's the only white boomer that goes to
• 1:56
Speaker 4: my entire gym. He also happens to be the only
• 1:59
Speaker 4: person and I've ever seen there wearing a Trump hat.
• 2:03
Speaker 4: And I'm not saying that, like, the two of those
• 2:05
  Speaker 4: things are related.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: But well, it's the attitude. Be the attitude is related.
• 2:11
Speaker 2: They disregard for others is humilated. Wearing bare feet in
• 2:18
Speaker 2: public spaces has is just you have no regard for others. No,
• 2:23
Speaker 2: and we're wearing a Trump hat means you have no
• 2:25
  Speaker 2: regard for brothers.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: Also bringing that into other people's faces, I just like
• 2:28
Speaker 4: I could not believe it. It was like right next
• 2:31
Speaker 4: to my face because I was laying on the ground.
• 2:32
Speaker 4: I was like, what is happening? Why are there old
• 2:35
Speaker 4: man feet next to me? It was truly horrifying.
• 2:38
Speaker 2: It reminds me of the dedication to my new book,
• 2:41
Speaker 2: my new book. If you guys haven't ordered it, ordered it,
• 2:43
Speaker 2: I'll have what she's having. It's not out until February
• 2:46
Speaker 2: twenty fifth, but there's a dedication in that book to
• 2:49
Speaker 2: a very special group of people that have to deal
• 2:53
Speaker 2: with people like that all the time. And I'll let
• 2:56
Speaker 2: you read it in the book and you'll know what
• 2:59
  Speaker 2: I'm talking.
• 3:00
Speaker 4: And you can pre order her book actually in the
• 3:02
Speaker 4: link right in the description here, So go.
• 3:04
Speaker 1: Ahead and click order please please.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: You can even buy signed copies.
• 3:09
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and I'm doing a book tour. I'm going
• 3:10
Speaker 2: to all these different cities.
• 3:12
Speaker 3: Are they on your website?
• 3:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, They're all on my website. So we've got to
• 3:15
Speaker 2: the website. I'm going to do like six cities for
• 3:17
  Speaker 2: my book tour.
• 3:17
Speaker 3: Awesome, that's super fun.
• 3:23
Speaker 4: Well, we do have a few updates from folks who
• 3:26
Speaker 4: have called in in the past, so I wanted to.
• 3:28
Speaker 3: Read a few of those.
• 3:30
Speaker 4: We always ask people to update us, so if you've
• 3:32
Speaker 4: called in recently, shoot us an update. We want to
• 3:35
Speaker 4: know what's going on with you. So our first one
• 3:37
Speaker 4: comes from Ev. Ev was from like way back in
• 3:40
Speaker 4: our Oliver Hudson episode and he had the situation where
• 3:45
Speaker 4: his parents were like psychiatrists and had medicated him from
• 3:49
Speaker 4: like five years old. I don't know if you remember this,
• 3:51
Speaker 4: but he was like, how do I talk to my parents?
• 3:53
Speaker 4: I want to come off these medications, like see what
• 3:55
Speaker 4: life feels like as an adult unmedicated. And he says, Hi,
• 4:01
Speaker 4: Katherine and Chelsea, I hope you're having a great day.
• 4:04
Speaker 4: It was so much fun being on the podcast. I
• 4:06
Speaker 4: want to thank you all so much for the advice
• 4:09
Speaker 4: from our discussion. I got the courage to tell my
• 4:11
Speaker 4: parents about the medication. I owe it to you. They
• 4:14
Speaker 4: took it very well. Something Chelsea said inspired me to
• 4:16
Speaker 4: just be honest and not beat herund the bush.
• 4:18
Speaker 3: Going forward, I'm going to proceed.
• 4:20
Speaker 4: With courage and always trust my gut. Thank you again, sincerelyev.
• 4:25
Speaker 2: Oh, well, that's nice, considering I have no recollection of
• 4:27
Speaker 2: that phone call whatsoever.
• 4:29
  Speaker 3: A while ago.
• 4:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm I don't really remember that at all.
• 4:32
Speaker 2: So look, look, look what a difference you can make
• 4:34
Speaker 2: in people's lives when you don't remember people exactly.
• 4:38
Speaker 4: So this one is part question, part update. Emily had
• 4:42
Speaker 4: called in way early on and she wanted to get
• 4:45
Speaker 4: a boop job, and we told her, like, go for it.
• 4:47
Speaker 3: If you want to a job, go for it. Dear Chelsea,
• 4:51
  Speaker 3: I hope you're doing well.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: Hard to believe I was on season one of the podcast.
• 4:54
Speaker 4: I'm still an avid listener weekly. Well, I still haven't
• 4:58
Speaker 4: gotten the boop job. I was never confident in my body.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: I just always thought bigger breasts would be a bonus.
• 5:03
Speaker 4: But if I wanted to, I would have pulled the
• 5:05
Speaker 4: trigger by now. I am, however, looking forward to seeing
• 5:08
Speaker 4: Chelsea's in her annual skiing post and Whistler in a
• 5:10
Speaker 4: few short weeks, I had a new question for her.
• 5:13
Speaker 4: I'm planning to travel to Africa this year with my
• 5:16
Speaker 4: mom to celebrate my thirtieth birthday. Chelsea, what are your
• 5:19
Speaker 4: favorite countries to visit in Africa? There's so many Safari
• 5:22
Speaker 4: options and destinations, so I could use your guidance on
• 5:24
Speaker 4: your favorite locations. Bonus points if you remember the month
• 5:27
Speaker 4: you travel to them too, Cheers Emily.
• 5:29
Speaker 1: I usually do my traveling to the times I've been
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: to Safari.
• 5:32
Speaker 2: I have been in the summer, like July, because it's
• 5:35
Speaker 2: their winter, so you want to go in July August.
• 5:38
Speaker 2: You can kind of get away with June two. But
• 5:40
Speaker 2: the big crossing on the Maara River crossing is I
• 5:48
Speaker 2: think very specific to July. It's like a month or
• 5:51
Speaker 2: two weeks long, I think.
• 5:53
Speaker 1: So you can catch that.
• 5:54
Speaker 2: But as far as countries in Africa, I've been to Kenya, Botswana,
• 5:59
Speaker 2: South Africa, Tanzania, and then maybe one other one that
• 6:05
Speaker 2: I'm not oh, Zimbabwe, but that was not for Safari.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: That was kind of like a water Safari. I would
• 6:10
Speaker 1: go to Kenya for sure, if you can Botswan.
• 6:13
Speaker 2: Any of these places are going to yield amazing Safari results.
• 6:17
Speaker 2: The first Safari I ever went to was a camp
• 6:20
Speaker 2: called Camp Londolozi in South Africa, and that was incredible.
• 6:25
Speaker 1: And then there are all.
• 6:26
Speaker 2: The Singidas, which are really great too. I mean, you
• 6:29
Speaker 2: really can't go wrong when you go on Safari. I
• 6:31
Speaker 2: would just say, like whatever money you can spend on that,
• 6:35
Speaker 2: spend on that, like however high you can go, because
• 6:38
Speaker 2: it's it can be so luxurious, worth it, and it's
• 6:42
Speaker 2: worth it because you're like in the middle of all
• 6:45
Speaker 2: this beauty and the landscapes are so magnificent, like everything
• 6:50
Speaker 2: they can they can turn everything into like a five
• 6:52
Speaker 2: star experience, and I mean I'm down with that, you know,
• 6:56
Speaker 2: So whatever you can afford, go for it.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: This is the trip to go.
• 6:58
Speaker 4: For it awesome and that's so fun to like go
• 7:01
Speaker 4: with her mom. I think that's oh yeah, I.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: Mean you never this.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: I have been on vacation my entire life and I
• 7:07
Speaker 2: will you can never beat a safari.
• 7:09
  Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. Well.
• 7:11
Speaker 4: Our next follow up comes from Alex She called in
• 7:15
Speaker 4: on our Yah Yah. Episode was about a year ago
• 7:18
Speaker 4: and she had been married to a man at the time.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: She wasn't sure if she was gay. She was sort of.
• 7:24
Speaker 4: Questioning and she says, thought i'd send you a quick
• 7:29
Speaker 4: update on my situation. It's been a little over a
• 7:31
Speaker 4: years since I first wrote in, and things have definitely changed.
• 7:35
Speaker 4: The advice I received from your podcast gave me the
• 7:37
Speaker 4: permission I needed to start taking action on how I
• 7:40
Speaker 4: was feeling. I told my husband that I was attracted
• 7:42
Speaker 4: to women, and we tried working through it for a bit,
• 7:45
Speaker 4: but I think I knew on some level that the
• 7:47
Speaker 4: marriage was no longer for me. Well, we were not
• 7:50
Speaker 4: good together for a few reasons. The cherry on top
• 7:53
Speaker 4: is I've realized I'm gay. We separated a few months ago,
• 7:56
Speaker 4: and I've come out to a few family members and
• 7:58
Speaker 4: close friends. Although it was a difficult decision to live
• 8:01
Speaker 4: as my authentic self, I have no regrets. I am
• 8:04
Speaker 4: so much happier and feel much more at home with myself.
• 8:07
Speaker 4: I've been dating a beautiful woman, and I'm looking forward
• 8:10
Speaker 4: to what the future has in store for me. Thanks again,
• 8:13
Speaker 4: feel free to share on the podcast and pas. She says,
• 8:16
Speaker 4: thanks Catherine for saying I had big softball energy. Whenever
• 8:19
Speaker 4: someone affirms my queerness, I get all giddy.
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: Oh that's cute.
• 8:23
Speaker 4: I was so glad that was good because after I
• 8:25
Speaker 4: said that, I was like, oh, I hope she's not
• 8:26
  Speaker 4: embarrassed by that.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: But maybe it's call I vaguely remember. It's call is triggering.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: Some are not triggering.
• 8:33
Speaker 3: It's a bringing up a memory, yes, yes.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: But I still yeah, usually when you bring up old callers,
• 8:40
Speaker 2: I know exact yeah.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, well these are all like a little bit older.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: I mean, we have been doing this podcast for like
• 8:45
  Speaker 1: sixteen years.
• 8:45
  Speaker 3: There's been a while. It's been a while. We're in
• 8:48
Speaker 3: year four or five something, I don't know. It's a lot.
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Thank you for listening everyone.
• 8:54
Speaker 3: Thank you well Chelsea. Good luck tonight or should I
• 8:58
Speaker 3: say break a leg, break a lake tonight.
• 8:59
Speaker 2: Oh thank you, Thank you guys, and tune in to
• 9:03
Speaker 2: critically see you tonight.
• 9:04
  Speaker 3: Bye mhm.
