- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. He's entered the room, Australia's biggest automotive
- 0:09Speaker 1: heart throb. Mom's a lot ready, Oh me, you're talking
- 0:14Speaker 1: about me? No, no, no, no, no, come on in trave.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, yeah, one of those days.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Think it's been an interesting day. Just been in at
- 0:26Speaker 1: the beach today. As you can see, I'm a bit
- 0:28Speaker 1: sun kissed.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Okay, Sydney beaches are interesting, aren't they. They're like a
- 0:34Speaker 1: There was just a group of white women drinking rose
- 0:36Speaker 1: and it was like a Camilla Kaftan convention.
- 0:41Speaker 2: That is the definition of an Australian beach day. White
- 0:44Speaker 2: women drinking on the beach.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Or if you watch bond I rescue like Indian blokes
- 0:51Speaker 2: going swimming fully clothed.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Yeah, needed to be rescued.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Hey, if you are Indian or Asian and listening to this,
- 0:59Speaker 2: can you tell us why this happens so often? I
- 1:01Speaker 2: think Native Australians tend to know the beach is a
- 1:04Speaker 2: bit better and know what to do and what not
- 1:06Speaker 2: to do. But a lot of tourists just do not
- 1:08Speaker 2: get it. And I'm keen to understand when Australia is
- 1:11Speaker 2: advertised overseas and people come here. Why is there a
- 1:14Speaker 2: disconnect between going swimming and drowning?
- 1:17Speaker 4: Like what is the let us know?
- 1:20Speaker 1: Okay, I'm pretty sure I can answer that question because
- 1:23Speaker 1: generally people will come here for asylum and they're living
- 1:26Speaker 1: in like pretty They're not living on lovely coastal metropolitan cities.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And so this is tourists that go to Bondai. You
- 1:35Speaker 4: don't come here to seek asylum and then go I'm
- 1:38Speaker 4: going to go to Bondai Beach.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yes you do.
- 1:41Speaker 4: You've got other stuff to.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Do anyway, anyway you get today, What did you do today?
- 1:47Speaker 4: I went to visit family with my daughter in our tesla. Oh,
- 1:50Speaker 4: I'll tell you what I did yesterday.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I took the key EV six to Lang Lang to
- 1:54Speaker 2: go do a video review and spent half the day
- 1:58Speaker 2: destroying tires with drift mode.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Then now you have you by the way, you didn't
- 2:03Speaker 1: just have the key at EV six. You had you
- 2:06Speaker 1: had the GT which was supposed to be mine, but
- 2:11Speaker 1: mine got traded in for a Stonitch.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so I had to pass off the Stonitch just
- 2:16Speaker 2: someone else, and I stuck with the EV six. But
- 2:18Speaker 2: it's a bit the whole day fanging it around and
- 2:19Speaker 2: having fun and going home. It's about one hundred and
- 2:24Speaker 2: five kilometers from the proving ground to home and it
- 2:29Speaker 2: had like ninety kilometers of range and I was like, oh,
- 2:32Speaker 2: she'll be right, and I popped it into e co
- 2:34Speaker 2: mode and I was in for anyone that is from Melbourne.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Just recently, the traffic is absolutely ft. I don't know why,
- 2:43Speaker 2: but it is just fucked And anyway, I got to
- 2:47Speaker 2: sort of around Burke Road and from Burke Road to Kingsway,
- 2:50Speaker 2: which is the exit I take. It was forty nine minutes,
- 2:52Speaker 2: which normally is a ten minute drive, and I was
- 2:55Speaker 2: down to three percent and I thought, I don't think
- 2:58Speaker 2: I'm going to make it to frantically re route to
- 3:01Speaker 2: a charger. Made it to the charger with one percent
- 3:04Speaker 2: of range left, plugged up, and then had some smug
- 3:08Speaker 2: blog come up to me. He goes, oh, how long
- 3:11Speaker 2: are you going to be? And I was like, well,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I literally just got here at one percent, So you
- 3:17Speaker 2: do the maths for me and that will tell you
- 3:19Speaker 2: how long I'm going to be.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Just drove off. I'm like, yeah, right, oh jet, So yes,
- 3:23Speaker 4: I charged.
- 3:23Speaker 2: The car is heaps of fun, by the way, and
- 3:25Speaker 2: I know that today is our youte special, but EB
- 3:28Speaker 2: six GT is heap of fun and drift mode is
- 3:30Speaker 2: also a heap of fun, but not as easy to
- 3:32Speaker 2: control as most other cars with with a drift mode.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So yeah, be careful if you are driving on because
- 3:37Speaker 2: it will snap around very quickly.
- 3:39Speaker 1: When you get a car like that, especially an EV
- 3:41Speaker 1: that's going zero to one hundred in crazy speeds. I
- 3:43Speaker 1: guess that's like keys version of the plaid. How do
- 3:47Speaker 1: you find the driving on that?
- 3:48Speaker 4: Look?
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's it's there's no escaping its weight and it sits
- 3:53Speaker 2: on a three meter wheelbase. They've done a lot of
- 3:55Speaker 2: work to the suspension tune, so Ossie engineers went to
- 3:59Speaker 2: Germany during the initial tuning phase of EV six and
- 4:02Speaker 2: then they did finalization of the tuning here in Australia
- 4:06Speaker 2: and all the validation. So from a ride and handling
- 4:08Speaker 2: point of view, it's really good, but ultimately it is
- 4:11Speaker 2: dynamically limited by.
- 4:14Speaker 4: The physics of it. So it is incredibly quick.
- 4:16Speaker 2: One thing that I absolutely loved and kind of nerded
- 4:20Speaker 2: out on, and there was a top secret car I
- 4:22Speaker 2: drove a couple of weeks ago in Sweden that is
- 4:25Speaker 2: very similar to this and they were running me through
- 4:27Speaker 2: the technicalities behind the brake pedal. In a typical car,
- 4:31Speaker 2: when you operate the brake pedal, you're eventually pushing a
- 4:34Speaker 2: cylinder inside a brake chamber that pushes fluid around to
- 4:38Speaker 2: the brakes. In the EV six and this other mysterious
- 4:42Speaker 2: car that I drove actually use a brake by wire system,
- 4:45Speaker 2: so you're not actually really physically doing anything, You're telling
- 4:49Speaker 2: a computer to do something. And the big advantage of
- 4:52Speaker 2: that in an EV is that if you are driving
- 4:54Speaker 2: it dynamically and you hit a bump into a braking zone,
- 4:57Speaker 2: instead of getting the modulation in break pedal fiel, which
- 5:00Speaker 2: is what you get in things like teslas, which have
- 5:02Speaker 2: a mechanical breaking system, you actually get a very linear
- 5:06Speaker 2: brake pedal and that's regardless of whether regen's coming in
- 5:10Speaker 2: and out with bumps into a braking zone. And that
- 5:13Speaker 2: tech is really cool. It can do up to three
- 5:15Speaker 2: hundred kilos of regen as well, so it will regen
- 5:17Speaker 2: as hard as it possibly can before it gets into
- 5:20Speaker 2: an abs.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Zone, so it is yeah, it is really cool.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Beneath the skin how much work they've done to this,
- 5:25Speaker 2: And then yeah, when you put it in drift mode, I.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Think I'll just just cough on that microphone.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Jesus at a bit of reflex going on. Did you
- 5:32Speaker 1: have a big big bowl of borsch or something before
- 5:34Speaker 1: you started this?
- 5:37Speaker 2: So yeah, when you put it into drift mode, it
- 5:39Speaker 2: seems pretty much all the talk to the rear and
- 5:41Speaker 2: it lets you do big old drifts as well.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So it is.
- 5:43Speaker 4: It is a really fun car.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I've only had the Baby, I've only had the EV
- 5:47Speaker 1: six and you know on it, Yeah, you know how
- 5:50Speaker 1: much I love the EV six too, Like, that's just
- 5:52Speaker 1: it's really well fitted out. What did you think when
- 5:55Speaker 1: you look at a car like that compared to a
- 5:57Speaker 1: Tesla which is very minimalistic and they.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Didn't have one issue?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Oh the seat is manually adjustable in the GT. Yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 2: it's one hundred grand and I went to go adjusted
- 6:07Speaker 2: and I'm like, hold on, we're the fuck are these controls?
- 6:10Speaker 2: And then it's like a manual seat. So it's like
- 6:12Speaker 2: you're going back in time. I just find that really strange.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I wonder why they did that, because I mean they've
- 6:18Speaker 1: spent so much, they've spent so much time and so
- 6:20Speaker 1: much engineering in this, and they're like we didn't hand
- 6:23Speaker 1: our homework. In time, we'll just kind of get rid
- 6:25Speaker 1: of those seats.
- 6:26Speaker 4: We'll save thirty eight dollars and not make them electric.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Well that's exactly it, you know, Like I think someone
- 6:32Speaker 1: who's going to buy something like this is going to
- 6:34Speaker 1: appreciate fucking proper seats.
- 6:37Speaker 2: But in this day and age, it's not like it's
- 6:38Speaker 2: a nine to eleven that you might just drive on
- 6:41Speaker 2: your own and your other half will never drive. This
- 6:43Speaker 2: is a family car, so you every time your other
- 6:45Speaker 2: half gets in, you're going to be in a position
- 6:47Speaker 2: where you have to manually move the seats. And most
- 6:50Speaker 2: cars on the market these days will have keys that
- 6:52Speaker 2: remember settings and stuff, whereas this it's all just manually adjustable.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And I just find it so completely bizarre.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's an odd choice. And everything else is pretty much
- 7:02Speaker 1: there too, right or anything's pretty standard to the normal
- 7:05Speaker 1: EV six as well.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so it is. It is interesting. So I
- 7:09Speaker 2: am looking forward to seeing what the I five N
- 7:11Speaker 2: is like. They're still working on that, and that has
- 7:15Speaker 2: I don't know, that seems to be something perhaps a
- 7:18Speaker 2: bit bigger so in terms of the performance aspects.
- 7:21Speaker 4: So we can't just se how that goes.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an interesting one. I love what they're doing
- 7:24Speaker 1: with the end you know what they could have done,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I reckon. I would have loved to have seen a
- 7:28Speaker 1: Tucson and I.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Reckon they might do that eventually.
- 7:32Speaker 2: The issue that they've got with then, especially in SUVs,
- 7:35Speaker 2: if they're going to sell them in Europe, it has
- 7:37Speaker 2: to be electrified because they have that upcoming band, so
- 7:41Speaker 2: it means that all the end products will have to
- 7:42Speaker 2: have some kind of electrification. And at the moment they
- 7:45Speaker 2: have a mild hybrid in the Tuson, so it really
- 7:49Speaker 2: needs perhaps an electric motor on the rear axle or
- 7:52Speaker 2: something a bit more advanced. And I think that will
- 7:54Speaker 2: come eventually. But there's not really much really that's sporty
- 7:58Speaker 2: and you know that sort of stuff. So we'll watch
- 8:01Speaker 2: this space.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, the Coopers are kind of doing nice things, but nothing. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and like an end to someone would have been really cool,
- 8:08Speaker 1: like almost put put a Stinger engine in that thing.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You know, they had to be mental.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Well it's like I actually found out the other day,
- 8:15Speaker 2: much to my sadness, remember the Hyundai Australia division actually
- 8:20Speaker 2: did an end version of the Imax or eye Load
- 8:25Speaker 2: where they basically isn't that a theater? Yes, and it's
- 8:29Speaker 2: also a giant van from Yunda. It was the previous
- 8:31Speaker 2: jen of that and they put I think it was
- 8:33Speaker 2: the twin Turbo V six from the Genesis or even
- 8:36Speaker 2: the Stinger under the bonnet and turned it into a
- 8:39Speaker 2: real well drive drift bus. And I found out the
- 8:42Speaker 2: other day that it's now being crushed.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Oh why did they do that? Because that was that's right,
- 8:47Speaker 1: that was going on tour with like the the n
- 8:49Speaker 1: Festival or whatever it was.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, so now it's it's dead. So I was
- 8:53Speaker 4: very sad to hear that.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Oh they crushed that thing. Yeah. I was speaking to
- 8:56Speaker 1: Young Day and they donate like a lot of their
- 8:58Speaker 1: cars to universities and stuff like that. Yeah, such a
- 9:02Speaker 1: fucking shame. I'm like, why why would you do that.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Don't give it to some couple of knobs at Sunshine
- 9:08Speaker 1: Tafe who will probably just take it out on the
- 9:11Speaker 1: weekend and smoke bongs in the back of it. Give
- 9:12Speaker 1: it to me, Give it to me. Actually, they do
- 9:16Speaker 1: that a lot with their hydrogen fleet as well.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you just have to be careful with how you
- 9:21Speaker 4: crush that.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I guess Imagine that the suburb of Sydney has now
- 9:27Speaker 2: been has disappeared after a hydrogen bomb explosion.
- 9:31Speaker 1: The suburb of EMU Planes is now non existent, is
- 9:35Speaker 1: now just planes? Then Usually it just gets up and
- 9:37Speaker 1: starts clapping. Why just shout out to our good friends
- 9:42Speaker 1: in planes. You've never been there, have you?
- 9:45Speaker 5: No?
- 9:46Speaker 4: It sounds fun.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It's kind of a bit like Lang Lang, but just
- 9:50Speaker 1: less rights tracks, more bogans.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Hello to our listeners from EMEU Planes as well.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out to you guys. What else is going on?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Oh?
- 9:59Speaker 1: Can I show you something? I'm ho think you can
- 10:00Speaker 1: hear this. By the way, Paul's back on Zoom. This
- 10:03Speaker 1: is just gonna be a quick little Zoom episode just
- 10:05Speaker 1: to tie you over, and the next few episodes will
- 10:08Speaker 1: be we'll be back in the studio together, hugging it
- 10:11Speaker 1: out with Trevor. We're getting the band back together. This
- 10:16Speaker 1: is what AI is doing right now, and there's a
- 10:19Speaker 1: whole lot of stuff coming in the AI world. People
- 10:22Speaker 1: are freaked out. My brother in law owns a I
- 10:26Speaker 1: don't want to say too much, but it's basically and
- 10:28Speaker 1: it's it's a company that works with AI. And basically
- 10:32Speaker 1: you can now write in stuff for you know AI
- 10:36Speaker 1: to say they've literally mimicked the voices of high profile
- 10:41Speaker 1: celebrities using AI. Yeah, using AI, much like it myself.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But but the.
- 10:50Speaker 1: This is the president. So you've got Barack Obama, you've
- 10:53Speaker 1: got Joe Biden, and you've got Donald Trump, and they're
- 10:56Speaker 1: all playing forzer right, so so good headset stuff and everything.
- 11:02Speaker 1: A little sound effects is amazing.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Hey, bro, how are you doing? You want to hop
- 11:05Speaker 3: on Forza? Yeah?
- 11:07Speaker 5: Sure, let me hop on right now. I was just
- 11:08Speaker 5: fighting the ender Dragon with Joe. But Bro, he is
- 11:10Speaker 5: so bad. I mean, frankly, it's unbelievable. He wasted all
- 11:13Speaker 5: my enchanted arrows and missed its.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Hey, Joe, I want to race in Forza. Donnie and
- 11:18Speaker 3: I were just hell hop on.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Barack, you cannot let this guy play with us. He
- 11:22Speaker 5: is horrible. He's too old for this.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Bro.
- 11:24Speaker 5: The only car he can name is a Corvette.
- 11:26Speaker 4: That's not true, Donald, I know what a Ferrari is.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Okay, let's all pick our cars for this race are
- 11:31Speaker 5: called dibbs on the Supra. I love the super I
- 11:33Speaker 5: mean it's so fast, it's just unbelievable. I hope you
- 11:35Speaker 5: guys are ready to.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Lose, Donnie, I will be laughing when you lose to
- 11:38Speaker 3: my Bugatti. I mean it is really the pinnacle of motorsport.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's so sleek and elegant and fast and holds the world.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Okay, Barrock, we hear you.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Shut up, man, Bugatti doesn't have a two jay Z engine.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Two jay Z is so overrated. Come on, are you
- 11:53Speaker 3: twelve years old? No, I'm eighty six.
- 11:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna have to race a cage desk thirteen with
- 11:56Speaker 5: an LS swamp and a straight Joe. You're gonna melt
- 11:59Speaker 5: all the ice cap with those emissions.
- 12:00Speaker 4: You know, Donald, shut up and raised me, your twelve
- 12:03Speaker 4: year old super fan. You probably don't even have your
- 12:05Speaker 4: driver's license yet.
- 12:06Speaker 5: You don't need a driver's license to play four US.
- 12:09Speaker 5: I mean, wow, you are so stupid.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Is absolute goal.
- 12:13Speaker 1: That's so good, is it?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Girl?
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's amazing?
- 12:16Speaker 3: How you know that's not real? Though? Yeah? I know,
- 12:19Speaker 3: I know.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Joe Biden was coherent.
- 12:21Speaker 1: That was the well, that's exactly it. He really put
- 12:24Speaker 1: a sentence together there, and I was like, wow, there's
- 12:26Speaker 1: your first fucking that is I love that. Even the
- 12:30Speaker 1: pop culture to jay Z LS swaps.
- 12:33Speaker 2: That is brilliant, So they used something like chat GPT
- 12:37Speaker 2: to come up with a script for that and then
- 12:38Speaker 2: an AI to talk it out.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like doubled over, like
- 12:43Speaker 1: it could literally just be for instance, in the radio world,
- 12:47Speaker 1: let's go behind the scene, let's go behind the curtain, guys,
- 12:51Speaker 1: or the glitz and glamour. You can basically get a
- 12:55Speaker 1: voice over now and it's not actually a voiceover, so
- 12:57Speaker 1: you can type in a script and they can say whatever,
- 13:02Speaker 1: really yeah, yeah, yeah, so we can we we run
- 13:05Speaker 1: voiceovers that aren't actually real people.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Really is there an example of one would be I
- 13:11Speaker 2: don't know products or is it just for upcoming shows?
- 13:14Speaker 1: And yeah, it'll be, well, it'll be it'll be segments. Generally,
- 13:17Speaker 1: if you the more you get out of an AI voiceover,
- 13:21Speaker 1: or the more you get them to say in one sentence, yep,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I feel like the easy the easier it is to
- 13:29Speaker 1: kind of spot because you kind of miss inclinations, you
- 13:33Speaker 1: miss like yeah, tones and but it's very subtle. But
- 13:37Speaker 1: also producers will kind of cover that quite easily, like
- 13:40Speaker 1: they'll add a they could add like a sound effect
- 13:43Speaker 1: between where a comma would be, or they could add
- 13:46Speaker 1: a little another voiceover saying huge praises, you know, just
- 13:50Speaker 1: something really quick to kind of break it up, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: it might be just like interesting. Yeah, it might just
- 13:55Speaker 1: be like the Kyle and Jackie Oh show Home with
- 13:58Speaker 1: the World's Biggest Stars, and then but between that they
- 14:01Speaker 1: might fucking you know, tweak around with Yeah, it's completely fake.
- 14:06Speaker 4: That is so interesting. Me go, so is File Sandalands
- 14:10Speaker 4: actually real?
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Well funny you should say that, because I did. I
- 14:12Speaker 1: did a break the other day and I got I
- 14:15Speaker 1: went into what's it called chat GPT GPT, yeah, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: I said, there's an artist we play called the Weekend. Right,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you wouldn't know who he is.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I don't know who, but yeah, but.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I said, as the artist the Weekend, write a short
- 14:30Speaker 1: paragraph on why you love ed Sheeran, right, and then
- 14:36Speaker 1: so it wrote this short sentence and then I copied
- 14:40Speaker 1: that into the an AI Voice generator as the Weekend.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So it's got this guy's this guy's voice. Hey, as
- 14:50Speaker 1: the you know, as a recording artist, I think Ed
- 14:53Speaker 1: Sheeran is the best.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Like yeah, yeah, oh my god, that is so interesting.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Crazy, it's crazy. What it's you know, we can even
- 15:01Speaker 1: get there's there's a there's AI coming out. We don't
- 15:04Speaker 1: We're out already. That can go through this entire podcast
- 15:07Speaker 1: and say we're say we're doing four hour long podcasts. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and say we were just like a couple of blokes,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know, talking about I don't know, truck trucks, right,
- 15:24Speaker 1: so we're just spending four hours going you know, like,
- 15:28Speaker 1: oh bloody yeah, then yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 6: I met Bloody Spoon and cracking down at Burke a
- 15:34Speaker 6: couple of hours out to kick a can around and
- 15:37Speaker 6: bloody down the road from Terra Baga pardon he picked
- 15:40Speaker 6: up a bloody gray woman call it Dinna anyway.
- 15:43Speaker 1: So basically we could do a whole podcast. My point
- 15:47Speaker 1: is we could do a whole podcast this AI can
- 15:49Speaker 1: go through it and we'll write down point by point
- 15:52Speaker 1: like what we've covered.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Wow, that's cool.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that.
- 15:57Speaker 4: That is very cool.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Look, we we have Hoyd around with it for content
- 16:01Speaker 2: because we actually a year or two ago we had
- 16:04Speaker 2: the idea that we'd love to have an author on
- 16:07Speaker 2: our site that was all AI in the news section
- 16:10Speaker 2: for a year and then say to people, hey, for
- 16:12Speaker 2: the last year, that author has been AI.
- 16:14Speaker 4: But at the time they're all pretty not very good,
- 16:17Speaker 4: and even now when you look at it.
- 16:20Speaker 2: It just lacks, like you said, some of the nuance
- 16:22Speaker 2: and some of the detail that you would have if
- 16:25Speaker 2: you were genuinely an expert in that topic. So yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 2: I think this fretting and worry about AI taking over, it's.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Probably not there just yet. It's pretty cool.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I love what they've been able to do with it,
- 16:36Speaker 2: and that force of stuff is pretty cool. But I
- 16:38Speaker 2: think longer term, you know, you're safe if you're in
- 16:42Speaker 2: radio for.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Example, Yeah, or journalism for that matter. Yeah, for now,
- 16:47Speaker 1: for now, it's only a matter of time. Actually, my
- 16:50Speaker 1: brother in law, who owns an AI company, I don't
- 16:54Speaker 1: know if I'm.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Very perplexed at why it's so Secretly me.
- 17:00Speaker 1: This video the other day and he goes, check out
- 17:02Speaker 1: this this newsreader and check out these news stories. She's
- 17:05Speaker 1: just camera testing. I want to know what you think. Okay,
- 17:08Speaker 1: played me a two minute clip of this lady sort
- 17:10Speaker 1: of reading the news and stuff like that, and I
- 17:12Speaker 1: was like, she was all right, yeah, it's fine. I
- 17:14Speaker 1: don't know what do you want me to pinpoint? And
- 17:17Speaker 1: he goes, she doesn't exist, that person does not exist,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Like what, So it's literally gotten to the point where
- 17:27Speaker 1: it's not even a deep fake. However, I mean that
- 17:30Speaker 1: stuff can now now be done. Say you were the
- 17:34Speaker 1: founder of a website and you were wanting to address
- 17:38Speaker 1: your people daily with some sort of morning whip, right,
- 17:41Speaker 1: you could you could literally not be there. It could
- 17:44Speaker 1: be a camera video of you just being well today,
- 17:46Speaker 1: we're doing whatever it is you do in the morning. Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 1: but it's completely it's complete. Bs, it's complete, it's all fake.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Well there you go. Well this has been your history
- 17:57Speaker 4: lesson in Ai actually real. No.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I always thought it was weird that a human could
- 18:03Speaker 2: look like you, and you know, people not find it strange,
- 18:06Speaker 2: but now it makes.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Sense, especially with such a big penis. It's actually fake.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, big yeah. It just depends on your interpretation.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Are big?
- 18:16Speaker 1: I call it little pavlais. Anywayutes, before we talk about it,
- 18:25Speaker 1: your little ute test, I wanted to talk about I'm
- 18:28Speaker 1: going to see if I can. I wanted to talk
- 18:29Speaker 1: about your impressions of the Ferrari Purer, stop interrupting, pure
- 18:36Speaker 1: than Kiev. Wait wait wait, wait, wait, don't don't correct,
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't try and jump over me. Wait racist the Ferrari
- 18:46Speaker 1: Margareta wait wait wait hang on no, no, no, I'm
- 18:50Speaker 1: only king around here the Ferrari.
- 18:59Speaker 2: For those of you you that have no idea what
- 19:01Speaker 2: god he's talking about, I think he's mentioning the Ferrari
- 19:05Speaker 2: puro sungwere oh so sad that one more time pure
- 19:11Speaker 2: Sungware pure somewhere.
- 19:13Speaker 4: No, no, not pure Sandwich, puro Sungway Sandwich.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yes, this thing looks unreal, so how it Yeah, my
- 19:23Speaker 2: friend elbows and colleague went over to Italy for the
- 19:26Speaker 2: launch of this, and he said, it sounds incredible. So
- 19:29Speaker 2: it's got a naturally aspirated V twelve petrol V twelve.
- 19:33Speaker 2: It looks pretty good as well. Apparently the interior has
- 19:35Speaker 2: a bit underwhelming, which is to be expected, but it
- 19:39Speaker 2: just looks and sounds amazing and I love that. You know,
- 19:42Speaker 2: Ferrari said they would never do an suv, but you know,
- 19:45Speaker 2: here we are and they've sold out.
- 19:47Speaker 4: For like four years or something.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It's it's it has been absolutely crazy, And to me,
- 19:53Speaker 2: it seems this has had more hype than the Lamborghini Urus.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Urus is kind of just a platform share with you know,
- 19:59Speaker 2: five other cars and Volkswagen group, whereas this feels like
- 20:01Speaker 2: a bit of a bit more of a unique product.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, and I love the fact that they
- 20:06Speaker 1: said they'll never do it and then when they did
- 20:09Speaker 1: do it, they got it so right.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I just think that they have just
- 20:14Speaker 2: nailed it. So I am keen to have a bit
- 20:15Speaker 2: of a drive when it arrives in Australia to see
- 20:18Speaker 2: what it's like. But yeah, I reckon they're on a
- 20:22Speaker 2: winner with this, and it gives them a lot of
- 20:23Speaker 2: scope in the future. They're working a lot of electrification
- 20:26Speaker 2: and all that sort of stuff, and if they establish
- 20:28Speaker 2: themselves as the premium fast suv player. I mean it
- 20:32Speaker 2: feels like they've already murdered the Aston Martin DBX without
- 20:35Speaker 2: even sort of doing much. So yeah, I think it's
- 20:38Speaker 2: pretty cool.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I didn't mind the interior actually, I was sort of
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm surprised people found it underwhelming, but I mean, I
- 20:44Speaker 1: guess they were expecting something as surprising as much as
- 20:47Speaker 1: the exterior and performance of the car was.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I think it's I
- 20:55Speaker 4: don't know.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Ferrari.
- 20:56Speaker 4: It's an interesting brand. It's actually a bit like Rolls.
- 20:59Speaker 2: You can't buy a limited or new Ferrari unless you've
- 21:03Speaker 2: owned other shitter Ferraris, so like for you to get
- 21:08Speaker 2: I've already lost track of which ones they sell, but
- 21:11Speaker 2: whatever the four eight eight replacement is, you need to
- 21:12Speaker 2: kind of have a history with them. And for a
- 21:14Speaker 2: vehicle like this, where it's so limited, they will be
- 21:17Speaker 2: going to people that have already had an extensive history
- 21:20Speaker 2: of Ferraris, and for you to actually get a limited
- 21:22Speaker 2: edition Ferrari, there is like an unspoken rule about what
- 21:25Speaker 2: you need to have owned previously. Lamba, on the other hand,
- 21:28Speaker 2: is more a case of just you know, who's got
- 21:31Speaker 2: cash on the day can come and get a Ferrari drama.
- 21:35Speaker 1: You're some sort of an influencer, or wrap up by
- 21:37Speaker 1: a Lamborghini. What about you pricing this ad?
- 21:39Speaker 2: Some?
- 21:39Speaker 3: Is it?
- 21:40Speaker 4: Did I hear?
- 21:41Speaker 3: Right?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Somewhere around a million dollars?
- 21:43Speaker 5: Like?
- 21:43Speaker 1: Is it really up there?
- 21:45Speaker 4: Let me have a look. I actually don't know.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I think Australia was Yeah, there we go seven hundred
- 21:50Speaker 2: and twenty eight thousand.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And yet sold out for four years?
- 21:54Speaker 4: Did you say, yeah? Just insane to think that someone
- 21:59Speaker 4: just seven hundred thousand.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't think you'll be buying one anytime soon.
- 22:04Speaker 1: If you're a little if your little locker behind your
- 22:07Speaker 1: stolen from Sunshine Tafe is anything to go by with
- 22:11Speaker 1: my Wooly's bag. Wuld you call that the billy?
- 22:13Speaker 4: But billy, that's it, the Billy.
- 22:16Speaker 1: We're not really going to do a car review this week.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I mean I haven't really driven anything that set the
- 22:22Speaker 1: world on fire.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Oh.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I did have the G eight EV, which was like, yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I don't know how I feel about it. It's complicated,
- 22:31Speaker 1: it looks nice. It was that fetching green with the
- 22:34Speaker 1: sort of chestnut leather interior.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's still looks nice, but.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah it's nice. It's still looking at about god, how
- 22:41Speaker 1: much was that? I think it was north of one
- 22:44Speaker 1: forty Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it is compromised because all of the battery equipment
- 22:48Speaker 2: they've put in. It raises the height of the floor
- 22:51Speaker 2: and it's impossible to sit in the back with your toes,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and then in the front you sit really high as well.
- 22:56Speaker 2: It's just a really awkward car to sit in.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I love smooth Carter, heavy and smooth, Like wow.
- 23:03Speaker 4: I did like that they fit the solar panels to
- 23:05Speaker 4: the roof. I thought that was pretty cool.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I thought it was a gimmicky. I would much rather
- 23:09Speaker 1: a sun roof.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Please, well, like, what's it.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Going to do? Like, honestly, you would get in that lifetime,
- 23:15Speaker 1: you'd get half Like if you banked all that up,
- 23:18Speaker 1: you'd get maybe a what a full charge in eleven years.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more to condition the car and run the
- 23:24Speaker 2: cooling systems and stuff like that. But it sounds like
- 23:27Speaker 2: it's not good enough for.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Some not good enough for me. No, no, no, give
- 23:31Speaker 1: me mych donic. Please give me mystnic. By the way,
- 23:35Speaker 1: we found the best ute of the year. Jayes, you
- 23:39Speaker 1: wasted a lot of time. I could have told you
- 23:41Speaker 1: this before you started it.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 23:44Speaker 2: So let me preface this by saying this is Australia's
- 23:47Speaker 2: and perhaps even the world's most comprehensive ute test and
- 23:51Speaker 2: it was quite satisfying when we we published the winner
- 23:55Speaker 2: of our ute test and another website, Please.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Do not men, no, do not get us in any
- 24:02Speaker 1: more trouble. I run out of money for the month
- 24:05Speaker 1: and I cannot pay another fucking lawyer. Okay.
- 24:09Speaker 2: On the website also ran a ute test that was
- 24:12Speaker 2: significantly undercooked in comparison, and in the comments section.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Of the video, Let's said that they leave the ute
- 24:20Speaker 4: testing to correct but I'm well, hey, it's obviously wasn't.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Who was a knob from last week Dave melb forty six, Yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 2: who called us morons?
- 24:30Speaker 4: And you an idiot or something only I disagree with
- 24:34Speaker 4: at least.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Where's the lie.
- 24:37Speaker 4: On the back?
- 24:38Speaker 3: Dave Melbourne original.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Day, Dave, you're a massive dickhead, but no offense. Thanks
- 24:44Speaker 1: for pointing out the obvious shit.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Ed But anyway, so yeah, we went into our ute test.
- 24:51Speaker 2: We did this late last year and it was an
- 24:53Speaker 2: eight day ute test, so it took a lot of work.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Thirteen people involved. We had one guy who won a
- 25:00Speaker 2: competition on our website, James young bloke, and then we
- 25:03Speaker 2: had three other blow ins who also helped out. They
- 25:07Speaker 2: got to stay at incredible accommodation. You should see the
- 25:11Speaker 2: caravan park and anglesy that we used.
- 25:13Speaker 4: It was it was.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I was just about to say that, knowing you, you
- 25:16Speaker 1: would have put these guys up in some spider filled
- 25:19Speaker 1: bloody caravan park with old Donna Theres with a just
- 25:24Speaker 1: really old flappy friggin polo shirt. Not a polo more
- 25:29Speaker 1: of a more of a like a really sort of
- 25:32Speaker 1: best and lass Pavlai Come under me Moomir.
- 25:40Speaker 2: She did try and chuck a leg over one of
- 25:42Speaker 2: the guys, but we sort of put an end to
- 25:45Speaker 2: that pretty quickly. But this you test, So we did
- 25:48Speaker 2: half of it at lang Lang and then the other
- 25:52Speaker 2: half at another proving ground and Anglesey and we really
- 25:55Speaker 2: put them through the ring of Anglesy was all about
- 25:56Speaker 2: off road driving where we had three main tests. One
- 25:59Speaker 2: was a roller test where we test attraction controls. We
- 26:02Speaker 2: had an offset mogul as well, which was there to
- 26:04Speaker 2: test four will drive systems. And then there's forty five
- 26:09Speaker 2: forty five percent grade that was bloody steep and uneven
- 26:14Speaker 2: that was testing low range and also differential locks. Then
- 26:18Speaker 2: at lang Lang we did a range of testing. We
- 26:21Speaker 2: did drag race. We also did a towing test where
- 26:24Speaker 2: we actually use some pretty awesome equipment from Holden's old
- 26:28Speaker 2: development days. So we used a trailer Dyne, which is
- 26:31Speaker 2: basically a sixteen hundred kilo trailer, and inside the trailer
- 26:36Speaker 2: it actually has the rear DIF assembly of an old commodore,
- 26:39Speaker 2: but that DIF assembly is attached to a retarda that
- 26:41Speaker 2: can add up to ten killing mutants of load to
- 26:44Speaker 2: the trailer, so it simulates the vehicle driving up a
- 26:47Speaker 2: very steep hill with a fully loaded trailer, and using
- 26:51Speaker 2: that we're able to benchmark the cars against each other
- 26:54Speaker 2: with a trailer dine setting at three killing Newtonts. We
- 26:58Speaker 2: also used a hill road with a b get a
- 27:00Speaker 2: sort of caravan style trailer to test what they were like.
- 27:03Speaker 2: The hill road was interesting because there was a grade there.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I think it was a fifteen percent grade. This thing
- 27:09Speaker 2: was bloody steep and with a twenty five hundred kilo trailer,
- 27:12Speaker 2: it was flat to the board in some of these
- 27:15Speaker 2: utes and they were only just gaining speed And I
- 27:18Speaker 2: find that slightly alarming because some of the utes are
- 27:20Speaker 2: rated up to thirty five hundred kilos. We were a
- 27:22Speaker 2: ton short of that, and you know, you just think
- 27:25Speaker 2: to yourself, some of these utes you just wouldn't dream
- 27:28Speaker 2: of toweling three and a half tons, And that was
- 27:29Speaker 2: with one person in the car. Imagine loading the family
- 27:31Speaker 2: in and getting it up to payload and GVM. So yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 2: it's it's pretty pretty interesting. And the final test that
- 27:39Speaker 2: we did was a dino test to see how efficient
- 27:41Speaker 2: these drive lines were. So yeah, before we get to
- 27:44Speaker 2: the main winner, our off road test, who do you
- 27:48Speaker 2: think won.
- 27:48Speaker 1: That ooh off road and I haven't seen these results.
- 27:53Speaker 4: By the way, thank you for supporting us.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I don't listen to your radio show either.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, do you listen to me? What did your podcast
- 28:00Speaker 1: once in a while?
- 28:00Speaker 4: An idiot?
- 28:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. The Izuzu.
- 28:05Speaker 2: No, my actually did quite poorly because of the traction
- 28:08Speaker 2: control being shit house. It was actually the Jeep Gladiator. Yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 2: rear dif flock, front diff lock, disconnecting sway bars, like
- 28:17Speaker 2: it is a proper, proper off road vehicle, and that
- 28:21Speaker 2: it looks.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Cool too, just honestly looks like a fucking gi joker, Like, yeah, exactly, like.
- 28:28Speaker 2: You could flee an impending apocalypse in that thing, and
- 28:32Speaker 2: I actually loved a Few years ago, I went to
- 28:33Speaker 2: Seema and they had one that had had an Hellcat
- 28:36Speaker 2: engine swap, so they took out the sort of asthmatic,
- 28:40Speaker 2: naturally aspirated V six petrol engine and just dropped in
- 28:43Speaker 2: a supercharged V eight, And I'm like, that would be
- 28:46Speaker 2: extremely dangerous to drive.
- 28:47Speaker 4: But I love it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I've got a whole bunch of utes coming up that
- 28:50Speaker 1: we're going to be reviewing. I'm going to make sure
- 28:51Speaker 1: that's at the top of the least, I want to
- 28:53Speaker 1: like get that earlier, get that on the show earlier
- 28:56Speaker 1: than we had planned, because yeah, I saw that. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: it on Friday again and I was like, fuck, it's
- 29:02Speaker 1: a long car, like it's a bit huge long car,
- 29:06Speaker 1: and you know, just just weird things I sort of noticed.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And maybe this is because you know, having trade like
- 29:13Speaker 1: my dad being a trading and stuff. You look at
- 29:16Speaker 1: a ude and one of the first things I think
- 29:18Speaker 1: about is, you know how you're going to lock the
- 29:21Speaker 1: back up and stuff. That thing just has like a
- 29:24Speaker 1: canvas kind of cloth rolled up.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Well it's even Betty. You can take the roof, the
- 29:28Speaker 2: doors and the windscreen off. Yeah, so you can actually
- 29:31Speaker 2: drive this thing around with no roof and doors and
- 29:33Speaker 2: the windscreen folded down. It is like it's a pretty
- 29:36Speaker 2: unreal package. Like this is unlike anything else out there.
- 29:40Speaker 4: I think. I think it is a really cool setup.
- 29:42Speaker 1: By the way, that's not on the road, by the way,
- 29:44Speaker 1: that's off froud. You can do that, right, you can't, sure,
- 29:46Speaker 1: you can't legal you.
- 29:50Speaker 2: You just throw shit at people next to year fucker
- 29:53Speaker 2: that wouldn't throw a banana at them, And then over
- 29:56Speaker 2: on on our towing test RAM fifteen.
- 30:00Speaker 4: It took that out.
- 30:01Speaker 2: That thing is unreal, like it was towing without even
- 30:05Speaker 2: recognizing there was a load on the rear that naturally aspirated.
- 30:08Speaker 4: V eight is a beast.
- 30:09Speaker 2: It's got a hybrid system in it as well, so
- 30:11Speaker 2: it's not overly inefficient. One of the tests we actually
- 30:14Speaker 2: did with the trailer, Dine was trying to break through
- 30:16Speaker 2: one hundred k's an hour with it, because it got
- 30:18Speaker 2: progressively harder as the car picked up speed. This thing
- 30:22Speaker 2: just ripped through it like it wasn't even attached to
- 30:24Speaker 2: the back of it. And compare that to the Nevara.
- 30:27Speaker 2: The Navara took twenty nine seconds to get to ninety
- 30:30Speaker 2: k's an hour and couldn't get to one hundred. The
- 30:32Speaker 2: Ram got to one hundred in like six seconds or
- 30:36Speaker 2: seven seconds, like.
- 30:37Speaker 4: It was so so fast.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Actually, you love this. I nearly I should have taken
- 30:41Speaker 1: a photo of it. I saw Zuzuki jimney. Maybe this
- 30:45Speaker 1: isn't mind blowing to you. It was to me, But
- 30:47Speaker 1: I saw a Zuzuki jimney towing a caravan.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Oh that's dumb and dangerous.
- 30:54Speaker 1: It was quite a small sort of a caravan, but
- 30:56Speaker 1: I was still and you know, it was a new
- 30:58Speaker 1: modern fiberglass looking thing.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I was like, God, I wouldn't tell anything with the jymney, stupid.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I was like, hang on is that because it was
- 31:06Speaker 1: sort of parked and I thought, is that attached to
- 31:09Speaker 1: the to the jymney? Generally when you park, you know,
- 31:13Speaker 1: you hoisted up on the on the wheel and stuff
- 31:15Speaker 1: like that. Holy shit, it's still there, like it's still on.
- 31:19Speaker 2: You should have got a photo because unless it's turbocharged
- 31:22Speaker 2: or something, maybe it's modified in some way, who knows,
- 31:25Speaker 2: But that's not a great idea.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a weirdesting idea.
- 31:30Speaker 2: We actually broke a raptor. So this is the very
- 31:34Speaker 2: frustrating thing. This happened in end of November last year.
- 31:39Speaker 2: They had to swap out the Raptor because it started
- 31:41Speaker 2: developing a drive line wine and I've been chasing them
- 31:43Speaker 2: for an explanation on why it's happened, and they're.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Being a little bit cagu with it.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So I'm going to push them a little harder because
- 31:49Speaker 2: at this stage it's starting to irritate me and I
- 31:52Speaker 2: think we're going to end up doing a separate story
- 31:55Speaker 2: on that, because yeah, we did a lot of dynamic
- 31:57Speaker 2: testing with the Raptor, and then after the towing test,
- 32:00Speaker 2: it started making some funny noises from the differential and
- 32:03Speaker 2: we called them up and said, hey, there's like a
- 32:05Speaker 2: wine and a rattle coming from the div can you
- 32:09Speaker 2: come and replace this thing? So they replaced it before
- 32:11Speaker 2: we were finished doing the toe testing. So yeah, maybe
- 32:13Speaker 2: in a future episode I'll update everyone on what happened
- 32:16Speaker 2: with that, because not good.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I did a lot.
- 32:19Speaker 3: I had.
- 32:19Speaker 1: There were a few problems with the Raptor. Yours is
- 32:21Speaker 1: going fine, though, I mean you you just drive it
- 32:23Speaker 1: to the milk bar, show off, show off a little
- 32:26Speaker 1: PAVL and get back in.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I'm just going to just very quickly jump to one
- 32:31Speaker 2: side here and just talk about this. I'm going to
- 32:34Speaker 2: call him a fuck knuckle who ran into the back
- 32:37Speaker 2: of my Okay, I'm going to call him a fucker.
- 32:41Speaker 1: No, I think you got it at fuck knuckle. That's fine.
- 32:46Speaker 1: By the way, we've stopped censoring the show by my request.
- 32:49Speaker 2: So Dave Melb Yeah, so yeah, he I'm waiting at
- 32:53Speaker 2: this intersection and he just I could see he was
- 32:56Speaker 2: about to hit me, and he just ran into the
- 32:58Speaker 2: back of me and shunted my car forward, and I'm like,
- 33:01Speaker 2: fuck is this guy doing?
- 33:02Speaker 4: And I look up in my mirror and him and
- 33:03Speaker 4: his dipshit friend were in there going, oh you know
- 33:05Speaker 4: what happened?
- 33:06Speaker 2: Anyway, I pulled out from this intersection. I turned left
- 33:09Speaker 2: and stop, and he turns right and leaves, and I'm like,
- 33:14Speaker 2: no fucking way, you're getting away from me. So I
- 33:18Speaker 2: fortunately there was this giant curve with like a median
- 33:21Speaker 2: strip on it. I drove straight over that and followed him.
- 33:26Speaker 2: I knew the area well, so I went down a
- 33:27Speaker 2: side street and he popped out in front of me,
- 33:29Speaker 2: and I chased him at the speed limit and caught
- 33:33Speaker 2: up to him. And he got out of the carr
- 33:35Speaker 2: and shit himself because he thought he got away from me.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And I said, well, I was a little bit upset,
- 33:40Speaker 2: but I said, you just no, no, no.
- 33:42Speaker 3: No, no no no.
- 33:44Speaker 1: You got out of that car and you chase this
- 33:47Speaker 1: guy down in hot pursuit, Paul. We need some like
- 33:50Speaker 1: hot pursuit music. There's Paul. He's going on hot Pursuit.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Jumps out of the car and you said, and.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I said, you just hit my car or something to
- 34:05Speaker 2: that effect, and he goes on anti climax.
- 34:09Speaker 1: No you didn't, you swore at him.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Tell me what you really said. I don't want to
- 34:13Speaker 2: say that. Anyway, He goes, I didn't know I hit you.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I'm like, well, you you shunted.
- 34:18Speaker 4: My car forward.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Your car's ab would have been going off because it
- 34:21Speaker 2: was a new car as well. And I took a
- 34:25Speaker 2: photo of the front of his car back of mine.
- 34:27Speaker 2: He gets his license out, and he tried to cover up,
- 34:30Speaker 2: like with his finger when I took a photo, and
- 34:32Speaker 2: thankfully my phone took a live photo, so I got
- 34:36Speaker 2: the shot with his name and stuff just before he
- 34:38Speaker 2: covered it up.
- 34:39Speaker 4: I'm like, this guy is so frigging dodgy.
- 34:41Speaker 2: So anyway, thankfully I got insurance to get it all
- 34:44Speaker 2: fixed and he's up for the cost and yeah, but anyway,
- 34:49Speaker 2: so back to our ut test.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Oh wait, wait, but doesn't that irritate you, because really
- 34:54Speaker 1: it's just it pisces.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Me off to knowing because it's a brand new car
- 34:59Speaker 2: and this idiot just isn't watching and then runs into
- 35:02Speaker 2: the back of it, and I totally get accidents happened,
- 35:04Speaker 2: even if I thought I may have hit them.
- 35:07Speaker 4: And the thing is he was driving a six five
- 35:09Speaker 4: and where he hit me, you would see your bonnet
- 35:13Speaker 4: is under my car, like it went under the bumper bar,
- 35:16Speaker 4: so you wouldn't You would know that you hit it,
- 35:18Speaker 4: even if you thought you may not have, and you
- 35:20Speaker 4: saw that I pulled over, surely you would pull over
- 35:23Speaker 4: as well. I'm sorry, you know, you know I thought
- 35:25Speaker 4: I made whatever, but then to try and get away
- 35:28Speaker 4: from me, and clearly try and get away from me
- 35:31Speaker 4: to then have me catch up to you. And I
- 35:32Speaker 4: could see when I when I caught up to him
- 35:34Speaker 4: that it was a bit shock that I was there. Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 4: I did just really shit me up the wall.
- 35:38Speaker 1: So and also, is it weird driving around in your
- 35:42Speaker 1: brand new raptor just knowing that it's just kind of
- 35:45Speaker 1: been a bit dicked around.
- 35:46Speaker 4: With Jerry has been popped. Yes, I'm going to all
- 35:50Speaker 4: that forever.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Test and then drag race. We ended up drag racing
- 35:56Speaker 2: all the cars head to head, wrapped to one that.
- 35:58Speaker 2: But then we pulled out a TRX RAM fifteen hundred
- 36:01Speaker 2: TIERERX and did that drag race rappor just loss to that.
- 36:05Speaker 2: On our Dino test, Toytter Highlucks had the most efficient engine,
- 36:08Speaker 2: so we basically measured flywheel versus power at the wheels
- 36:12Speaker 2: so Highlucks won that by only something like eighteen percent
- 36:16Speaker 2: drivetrain loss between the flywheel and the wheels, which is excellent.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Some of the utes with the bigger tires had something
- 36:22Speaker 2: like thirty or forty percent drive line loss, which is enormous,
- 36:26Speaker 2: but that comes down two big tires sort of being inefficient.
- 36:31Speaker 4: That gets us to our overall winner.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yes, and if you do want to check out some
- 36:35Speaker 2: of these tests, head to car expert dot com today.
- 36:37Speaker 2: You have got stacks of video content there as well.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Our overall winner, unsurprisingly is the Ford Ranger and that
- 36:45Speaker 2: is just both all variants four cylinder V six Rapptor.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Yeah, so congratulations to Ford for taking that test out.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I love that. I said to you, of fair, I
- 36:54Speaker 1: said which particular Ford Ranger in the portfolio one, and
- 37:00Speaker 1: you just went all of them, all of them won.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Its just easier, No, it's just easier to say to someone, Look,
- 37:08Speaker 2: if you're going to buy you in the segment, the
- 37:10Speaker 2: Ranger is the one you want to get.
- 37:12Speaker 4: My pick would probably be the V six diesel.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Because that did really well for towing, for the drag race,
- 37:17Speaker 2: for engine efficiency, like it was a really good all rounder. Ye,
- 37:20Speaker 2: but if you did have to settle for a four
- 37:22Speaker 2: cylinder that was fine and did just as good, you know,
- 37:25Speaker 2: with just slightly less punch than the V six.
- 37:27Speaker 1: When I got to drive the wild Track, I fell
- 37:30Speaker 1: in love with that car instantly. I thought it was
- 37:32Speaker 1: and you know, I tried to put an order in
- 37:34Speaker 1: and just like I was hoping the would kind of
- 37:36Speaker 1: have no idea who you were. Yeah, No, it wasn't
- 37:38Speaker 1: even that. It was more just like, mate, do everything legit.
- 37:42Speaker 1: But I was kind of in my heart of hearts
- 37:44Speaker 1: thinking they'd speed things up a little bit. After a
- 37:47Speaker 1: little bit, it was like it's going to be in October,
- 37:49Speaker 1: and I just went I pulled out. But it's such
- 37:51Speaker 1: as it's yeah, I know, the story of my life.
- 37:54Speaker 1: It's an exceptional car. Like it's just it's the absolute
- 37:57Speaker 1: sweet spot in that whole range. Like the Sport's pretty
- 37:59Speaker 1: good to me is fucking on steroids and pointless and
- 38:04Speaker 1: you know, unless you want to try and compensate for
- 38:06Speaker 1: little Pavlois. But yeah, the wild Track is a car
- 38:11Speaker 1: you can just jump in and you just automatically feel
- 38:15Speaker 1: like you could go from one end of Australia to
- 38:17Speaker 1: the other comfortably the tech and it's great.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I got to tell you as well. I was shocked
- 38:22Speaker 2: at how bad the Raptor wasn't stopping from one hundred.
- 38:26Speaker 2: We measured it for each of the utes and the
- 38:28Speaker 2: best was I think either the Ram or the Highlux.
- 38:31Speaker 2: The Raptor took almost ten meters longer to stop because
- 38:34Speaker 2: of the tires, is a huge, huge amount of extra
- 38:38Speaker 2: stopping distance.
- 38:39Speaker 4: So that wasn't fantastic.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Where did the RAM lose out? Because I feel like
- 38:43Speaker 1: that ticked a lot of boxes.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Look, the RAM lost out during towing. It was a
- 38:49Speaker 2: little inefficient, it was off road. A lot of the
- 38:53Speaker 2: stuff was optional, so you had to option limited slip, differential,
- 38:56Speaker 2: rear diff lock.
- 38:57Speaker 4: There was no hill descend control.
- 38:59Speaker 2: So yeah, there's just a lot of the stuff really
- 39:02Speaker 2: should have been standard was optional, so it just lost
- 39:05Speaker 2: out a little bit here and there. But yeah, the
- 39:08Speaker 2: Ram is really a really fine dual cab and you
- 39:12Speaker 2: can see why they're so popular in the States and
- 39:14Speaker 2: as much as people want to hate them here in Australia,
- 39:17Speaker 2: you know they really are just an all round it.
- 39:19Speaker 4: What do you make it?
- 39:20Speaker 1: The everest, because you'd think it's going to be a
- 39:23Speaker 1: similar car. Like by similar standards, you'd go, well, you know,
- 39:28Speaker 1: as an SUV goes, surely that would live up to
- 39:31Speaker 1: the performance of say a Ranger. But it really to
- 39:34Speaker 1: me there's something missing about it.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Look, I like the Everest in V six trim. I
- 39:40Speaker 2: would like to see them do a Raptor version of it.
- 39:42Speaker 2: But yeah, look, I like the Everest. I think it's
- 39:44Speaker 2: a good good SUV, especially if you do want to
- 39:47Speaker 2: go off road. If you don't want to go off road,
- 39:48Speaker 2: I just wouldn't be buying any of that stuff unless
- 39:50Speaker 2: you're towing and going off road because it is a
- 39:53Speaker 2: big SUV that is unnecessarily big if you're not using
- 39:56Speaker 2: it for any of those tools.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's not great. Really like it myself,
- 40:01Speaker 1: but by comparison, if you kind of go the Rangers,
- 40:03Speaker 1: like the best UT in Australia, this is similar in
- 40:06Speaker 1: a lot of ways. Would this be the best SUV?
- 40:09Speaker 3: No?
- 40:10Speaker 2: I mean, look, it won't be the best SUV simply
- 40:12Speaker 2: because they're all different. But it's the best SUV and
- 40:15Speaker 2: it's segment, and if you look at it segment, there's
- 40:19Speaker 2: not really a great deal of inspiring things happening there.
- 40:23Speaker 2: But that'll all change when Prato gets a new engine.
- 40:26Speaker 2: I suspect they'll drop a V six in Prato and
- 40:28Speaker 2: just give it a bit of love and that'll really
- 40:30Speaker 2: shake things up a little bit for that segment.
- 40:33Speaker 4: So congratulations to.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Ford, Congratulations to Forward. Didn't you pick well? Yeah, yep, yep,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I picked really well, didn't you What a coincidence?
- 40:44Speaker 4: No, it's actually funny.
- 40:46Speaker 2: A lot of people did ask us if it was
- 40:48Speaker 2: sponsored by Ford and all that sort of stuff. But
- 40:50Speaker 2: the perfect irony is that, I think I've said this
- 40:54Speaker 2: before that when it comes to advertising clients with our website,
- 40:58Speaker 2: I've actually spent more money with four than they've spent
- 41:00Speaker 2: with me with us, which is quite funny.
- 41:04Speaker 4: So yeah, that that theory goes straight out the window.
- 41:07Speaker 1: So we're going to be finally in the same studio
- 41:10Speaker 1: next next episode, so please look out for that. I
- 41:13Speaker 1: have a little surprise browing away for you. By the way,
- 41:17Speaker 1: watch out, yesout. I have a great little surprise, very
- 41:24Speaker 1: tru hoping I can pull a few things together, few strings,
- 41:28Speaker 1: make a few calls, and looks like it's well on
- 41:32Speaker 1: its a way.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Interesting interesting as always, if you are listening to this,
- 41:37Speaker 2: please leave us a rating on whichever platform you're listening on,
- 41:41Speaker 2: and it takes like ten seconds, So you just go
- 41:44Speaker 2: into the platform.
- 41:44Speaker 4: You're on, hit follow and leave a rating. It would
- 41:47Speaker 4: be massively helpful.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Leave us a funny comment there as well, and also
- 41:51Speaker 2: get in touch with us on social slash emails contact
- 41:55Speaker 2: Atthedriversshow dot com today.
- 41:57Speaker 1: You it's two s's by the way, two S is
- 41:59Speaker 1: in that?
- 42:00Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Oh by the way, just again, earlier I mentioned the
- 42:04Speaker 2: other website that we did a better job at the
- 42:07Speaker 2: test on our YouTube channel is about to become Australia's
- 42:11Speaker 2: biggest automotive review channel.
- 42:14Speaker 1: The driver Show dot com dot you with one video No.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Car Expert is about to overtake a channel that has
- 42:23Speaker 2: a name talks about what you do in a car.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You pawn.
- 42:29Speaker 2: When you put it into what's it's park, reverse, Neutral,
- 42:33Speaker 2: what's the last one?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Cruise control?
- 42:36Speaker 2: No, it's that channel. We're about to overtake them. So
- 42:41Speaker 2: good job guys, but yeah, thanks for trying.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Just going through the d MS. Hey, big shout out too.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I don't I won't say her real name, but her
- 42:49Speaker 1: handle is big shout out to missus prestige cars. She said,
- 42:55Speaker 1: big fan of the show. Love this, she loved the
- 42:58Speaker 1: stoning chat and zippy economical ha ha ha. Can I
- 43:02Speaker 1: join the team? Sounds like you need a couple of girls,
- 43:06Speaker 1: too much testosterone, and I said, agreed, see what I
- 43:10Speaker 1: can do. Although Paul has a lovely sheeness.
- 43:14Speaker 4: And yeah, I'm just concerned about a woman being near you,
- 43:19Speaker 4: like in a room.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, I've cleared that with my parole office.
- 43:23Speaker 1: So we're good now. Someone said, as a text to
- 43:27Speaker 1: go trev Is on ACA, and I just wrote, is
- 43:30Speaker 1: he's stealing Telly's again?
- 43:36Speaker 4: Dealing Telly's again?
- 43:37Speaker 2: We've got to follow up from Michael, who contacted us
- 43:42Speaker 2: a while back. You remember with the dealer delivery feast.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Oh that guy?
- 43:47Speaker 3: Yes?
- 43:48Speaker 1: Sorry, oh yeah, that guy.
- 43:52Speaker 4: So I'll just quickly read it out.
- 43:53Speaker 2: It's a longish email, he wrote, I picked up my
- 43:55Speaker 2: Genesis GV seventy Diesel Sport.
- 43:57Speaker 4: And Luxury pack plus Matt Paint.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Wait sorry, chat GPT, can you summarize Michael's long, pointless,
- 44:06Speaker 1: boring email into one sentence?
- 44:09Speaker 3: Still?
- 44:09Speaker 1: Can't do it?
- 44:10Speaker 2: So he said, I picked up my GV seventy Diesel
- 44:13Speaker 2: Sport luxury pack plus Matte paint Melbourne gray with red
- 44:17Speaker 2: Sevilla interior. Around three weeks ago, he said, I stand corrected.
- 44:21Speaker 2: The dealer delivery fee was three thousand dollars during the
- 44:25Speaker 2: eleven month waiting period. Wow, there was a rise of
- 44:28Speaker 2: around three grand annoying, but I wasn't prepared to join
- 44:31Speaker 2: another waiting list, so.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Stuck with it. It's a bit shit that they've passed
- 44:34Speaker 4: that on to him.
- 44:35Speaker 2: I don't love that, and I was only given a
- 44:38Speaker 2: verbal price after phoning up Genesis when I got wind
- 44:40Speaker 2: of it. I did not receive the new invoice till
- 44:42Speaker 2: a few days prior to picking it up, which showed
- 44:44Speaker 2: the breakdowns.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Disappointing.
- 44:46Speaker 2: So regarding my delivery experience for the three K, Genesis
- 44:50Speaker 2: was able to deliver my car anywhere as part of
- 44:52Speaker 2: the dealer delivery fee, but I chose to collect it
- 44:54Speaker 2: myself at Paramatta, only leave one and a half hours away,
- 44:57Speaker 2: and wanted the full customer experience. Also like to check
- 45:01Speaker 2: the defects before taking delivery.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Good idea, he wrote.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Upon entering the showroom there was a congratulations sign with
- 45:07Speaker 2: my name on it and the car concealed under a cover.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Nice yeah, three grand.
- 45:15Speaker 2: It was hard waiting for the big reveal as I'd
- 45:17Speaker 2: never seen a GV seventy in the flesh before, and
- 45:19Speaker 2: I chose to rely on reviews from experts such as yourself,
- 45:21Speaker 2: referring to Paul here Champ just what.
- 45:24Speaker 1: He said, Champ, No that was you're just chucking that
- 45:27Speaker 1: in okay, thanks, thanks Tiger.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Consumer Reports and looking for potentially she's reported on car
- 45:32Speaker 2: owner forums. So the salesman spent well over an hour
- 45:38Speaker 2: talking him through the features. He got a gift of
- 45:43Speaker 2: a Genesis branded water bottle, traveling coffee container and key ring,
- 45:50Speaker 2: a gift basket of edible items. So he said he
- 45:56Speaker 2: was impressive the Deally delivery experience, but still can't see
- 45:59Speaker 2: why the dealer delivery fees so high even with stuff
- 46:02Speaker 2: happening in the back end. I don't see so yeah.
- 46:05Speaker 2: The email goes on to say he's happy with the car,
- 46:10Speaker 2: so yeah. And also he then mentioned right at the
- 46:13Speaker 2: end off topic. Now, but in your last podcast you
- 46:15Speaker 2: raised as to whether there is an issue in buying
- 46:17Speaker 2: Chinese cars. Google the Sky News article how Australian data
- 46:22Speaker 2: hovering cha hoovering. I think Chinese made cars should be
- 46:26Speaker 2: secretly sending their private data to the communist nation.
- 46:29Speaker 4: I think I actually helped them with that story.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Companies in China need to have a relationship with the
- 46:34Speaker 2: CCP and a whole bunch of stuff there.
- 46:36Speaker 1: So yeah, sorry, we're just getting a message come through
- 46:40Speaker 1: from Peter Jackson. He just wants to make that email
- 46:44Speaker 1: into a three part series. By the way, one of
- 46:51Speaker 1: the dms we got was from John He said we
- 46:54Speaker 1: didn't answer the second half of his question, which was
- 46:56Speaker 1: do you think whether we think ice cars will depreciate
- 47:00Speaker 1: quicker with the update of EV's and fans, etc.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I think maybe one day it will, but I actually
- 47:05Speaker 2: think the opposite because the issue they still have with
- 47:08Speaker 2: EV's and we're seeing this now on the secondhand Tesla market,
- 47:11Speaker 2: they're depreciating very quickly now that there's a stack of
- 47:14Speaker 2: stock available. You don't want to be buying a secondhand
- 47:17Speaker 2: EV with the battery of unknown capacity left like it's
- 47:23Speaker 2: especially if it's not completely discounted. And we spoke last
- 47:26Speaker 2: week about the depreciation of Polestar and other sort of
- 47:28Speaker 2: EV brands in terms of their guaranteed financial future plans
- 47:33Speaker 2: whatever they're called.
- 47:34Speaker 4: So yeah, I don't know.
- 47:36Speaker 2: I think that, yes, ice cars will continue depreciating obviously
- 47:40Speaker 2: once EV's sort of hit their stride, But I think
- 47:43Speaker 2: that EV's have their own problems at the moment.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think we're a long way off from
- 47:46Speaker 1: that too. Even the basic things like EV's are still
- 47:49Speaker 1: bloody expensive, especially in this country. The foundations aren't really
- 47:53Speaker 1: up to scratch where they should be at this point
- 47:56Speaker 1: stock wise as well. And also, actually, did you this
- 47:58Speaker 1: is an interesting one, did you say, Marcus Brownley Markez, Yeah, yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 1: and he said that there was. Tesla had opened their
- 48:05Speaker 1: charging to pretty much everyone.
- 48:07Speaker 2: So they've opened part of their charging network as a
- 48:11Speaker 2: trial to any ev.
- 48:14Speaker 4: Look, it's great news for Eve owners because.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Typically Tesla's charging network is excellent and functional. The downside
- 48:22Speaker 2: is that it means that if you do own a Tesla,
- 48:24Speaker 2: that whole uniqueness of having access to a working charger
- 48:27Speaker 2: will slowly evaporate when it is busy, and we've seen
- 48:30Speaker 2: that over the holidays and stuff.
- 48:31Speaker 4: So yeah, it look good for Tesla's shareholders, but I
- 48:34Speaker 4: think it's a bad thing for Tesla's customers. Not a fan, No, well,
- 48:39Speaker 4: why would you want it?
- 48:40Speaker 2: Like it's great if you don't own a Tesla and
- 48:42Speaker 2: it's great for those manufacturers because they can go develop
- 48:45Speaker 2: an EV and just not bother with the charging network
- 48:47Speaker 2: and just leave it all to Tesla.
- 48:48Speaker 1: It's an interesting spot to be in when you are
- 48:51Speaker 1: kind of relying on Tesla to put in these superchargers
- 48:56Speaker 1: in because they're what they're putting in is quality. It's excellent.
- 49:00Speaker 4: It works.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it works, and which is good. The text stuff is,
- 49:04Speaker 1: like you've said before, if something sucks up on it,
- 49:06Speaker 1: it's generally quickly fixed. Compared to say charge Fox that
- 49:10Speaker 1: is just an absolute nightmare. Yeah, it's a spot to
- 49:13Speaker 1: be and when you're kind of going, well, I'm going
- 49:15Speaker 1: to get an EV, but I'll just have to rely
- 49:17Speaker 1: on Tesla charging.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Yeah, so I don't know, we'll see Paul started crying.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Jesus by the way, Paul's this isn't this is just
- 49:27Speaker 1: going to be an audio only episode unfortunately, because Paul
- 49:31Speaker 1: doesn't even realize he's not even talking to a microphone.
- 49:35Speaker 1: It's actually a big black dildo of some description microscope
- 49:39Speaker 1: that is not a microphone, mate, it's.
- 49:41Speaker 2: A Yetti USB blue blue YETI it's literally a prosthetic fixed.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Well, thank you all for listening. Please leave us a rating.
- 49:54Speaker 2: And yeah, I think the campaign for getting Trevor to
- 49:59Speaker 2: host is slightly building momentum.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Slowly, go fuck yourself,
