- 1:10Dan Schulz: When we first had this story, we called it, we said this is gonna be one of the major things happening in town.
- 1:19Dan Schulz: After the first session filled up, the City of Redmond added yet another puppy yoga class on Saturday, June 13th from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM.
- 1:32Dan Schulz: Do you understand?
- 1:33Dan Schulz: This was so popular it made the s- but governments are slow-moving, Jennifer.
- 1:39Dan Schulz: There were so many dog lovers that they had to move faster and get another session lined up.
- 1:46Dan Schulz: So 2:45 to 3:45 on Saturday over at the Redmond Senior and Community Center, participants age 13 and up can stretch, relax, and spend an hour with a group of adorable puppies.
- 2:01Dan Schulz: Whether you are a yoga regular or you're just showing up for the dogs, nobody's judging.

- 2:57Dan Schulz: If you've got an e-bike, Washington just rolled out some new statewide rules that are worth knowing about.
- 3:04Dan Schulz: The goal is to make it easier for riders, parents, trails, and cities to all be working from the same playbook as e-bikes continue to grow in popularity, and they really are growing in popularity.
- 3:16Dan Schulz: Around Redmond, where people use e-bikes to connect with light rail, ride the Sammamish River Trail, and get around town without a car, these changes matter.
- 3:26Dan Schulz: Now, the main takeaway is simple.
- 3:28Dan Schulz: Before your next ride, you wanna spend a few minutes getting familiar with the updated rules so that there aren't any surprises later.
- 3:35Dan Schulz: It's a bit much to go into on our podcast, so we're gonna put a link into the email version of this newsletter.
- 3:42Dan Schulz: You can go and check out the laws, especially if you are an e-bike rider

- 7:17Dan Schulz: You'll be able to meet the dogs, talk with rescue volunteers, and learn more about the adoption process.
- 7:22Dan Schulz: Even if you're not actively looking to adopt, it's still a pretty good excuse to spend an afternoon around a bunch of friendly dogs.
- 7:29Dan Schulz: It's not like you really need an excuse though If you've got a sprinkler system, listen up.
- 7:35Dan Schulz: This is usually the time of year when people turn their irrigation back on and find out something broke over the winter.
- 7:42Dan Schulz: The backflow valve's open, the meter's spinning, but none of your zones are actually running.
- 7:47Dan Schulz: That usually means you've got an underground leak.
- 7:51Dan Schulz: Simply Leak Detection specializes in exactly this.
- 7:54Dan Schulz: They find irrigation leaks, slab leaks, underground pipe leaks, all without digging up your property.
- 8:00Dan Schulz: Lincoln and his crew service the entire Puget Sound, but they do a ton of work right here on the East Side.
- 8:07Dan Schulz: Over 300 5-star Google reviews.
- 8:10Dan Schulz: Spring is when these problems usually show up, and when they do, make sure to call Lincoln and his crew at 253-800-1412 or visit them at simplyleakdetection.biz.
- 8:24Dan Schulz: This message was brought to you by Simply Leak Detection.
- 8:28Jennifer Davis: Okay, it's time for the Redmond History Minute, where we share an interesting piece of history, trivia, or tidbit about life in and around Redmond.
- 8:39Jennifer Davis: All right, Dan, so I've got a question for you.
- 8:42Jennifer Davis: Are you set?
- 8:43Dan Schulz: Hit me
- 8:44Jennifer Davis: All right.
- 8:45Jennifer Davis: From 1956 to 1965, Redmond had a neighboring town called East Redmond.
- 8:53Jennifer Davis: And so what happened to it?
- 8:55Jennifer Davis: Was it A, Redmond annexed it; B, the Washington State Supreme Court dissolved it; C, it renamed itself to Sammamish; or D, it never existed, it was a tax scam.
- 9:11Jennifer Davis: And your time starts now
- 9:15Dan Schulz: Okay, I think, so okay, East Redmond, east.
- 9:18Dan Schulz: I, I think it r- I'm gonna go with it renamed itself to Sammamish.
- 9:23Dan Schulz: That is my final answer
- 9:28Jennifer Davis: Okay, well, apparently, you're wrong for a fourth week in a row.
- 9:34Dan Schulz: All right.
- 9:34Dan Schulz: Just s- do you know wha- why are you keeping track?
- 9:39Jennifer Davis: Uh, the answer is actually B.
- 9:41Jennifer Davis: The Washington Supreme Court dissolved it in the 1950s.
- 9:45Jennifer Davis: Rural homeowners on the east side of Redmond didn't wanna be annexed, so they formed their own town and called it East Redmond in 1956.
- 9:55Jennifer Davis: It existed as a real separate municipality for nine years.
- 10:00Jennifer Davis: Then the Washington Supreme Court stepped in and dissolved it.
- 10:03Jennifer Davis: The area was eventually absorbed into what's now mostly Sammamish and parts of greater Redmond.
- 10:10Jennifer Davis: An entire town just whoosh, whoop, wiped off the map by a court order
- 10:15Dan Schulz: Hmm, interesting Here is one rumor that is making the rounds this week.
- 10:32Dan Schulz: Sources say a climbing gym with a built-in coffee bar may be in permit discussions somewhere near the light rail station area.
- 10:41Dan Schulz: The rumor describes a roughly 12,000 square foot facility focused on bouldering rather than giant climbing walls with a legit espresso setup and co-working tables near the windows.
- 10:54Dan Schulz: What we don't know is whether permits have actually been filed, who would operate it, or exactly where it would go.
- 11:01Dan Schulz: The question is pretty simple.
- 11:02Dan Schulz: If this turns out to be real, where do you think it actually will end up?
- 11:07Dan Schulz: And if you've got a guess or you've heard something, head on over to our Facebook page at facebook.com/bestofredmond and drop it in the Redmond Rumor Mill Guesses post.
- 11:20Dan Schulz: And while you are there at our Facebook page, find the post called Your Picks and answer this question.
