- 0:01First Corinthians chapter 10 Let us pray.
- 0:09Our Lord, our Father, our King, God, God Almighty, it is you
- 0:19alone that we are here for today.
- 0:23Lord, we come expectantly, knowing that it is your heart
- 0:27and your will for many to be saved.
- 0:32God, you are not willing that any should perish.
- 0:34So Lord, I pray that your word will go out to the ends of the
- 0:40earth. Lord, I pray in the name of
- 0:43Jesus that'll fall on fertile soil.
- 0:47God, I pray that there is a harvest, there is a crop, there
- 0:51is fruit that springs up from the seed that is scattered
- 0:56throughout all the lands, throughout all of the world.
- 1:01Father, I pray in the name of Jesus for the Holy Spirit to be
- 1:06present today and to fill us today to teach us your eternal
- 1:11paths. Father, I pray we could get out
- 1:13of our own way, get out of our own understanding, get out of
- 1:17all of our own predispositions. God, we release fear.
- 1:22God, we break down the strongholds of the fear of man,
- 1:27and Lord, we grab a hold of the hem of your garment.
- 1:32Lord, we come in to the holiest of holy places.
- 1:37God, let your Shekinah glory flow all around us and in US and
- 1:42through US. God, I pray that we will be your
- 1:45hands and feet. God, I pray that we will put our
- 1:48hand to the plow and not be distracted.
- 1:52God, I pray in the name of Jesus for a supernatural zeal to fill
- 1:56this house. Let it eat us up.
- 1:59God, we only want you, Father. Eyes like fire and hair like
- 2:04wool. The voice of the many
- 2:06multitudes. Let the glory fill the temple.
- 2:09Father. Lord, I pray in the name of
- 2:11Jesus for a sound mind and sound doctrine.
- 2:14God, for sound theology, in the name of Jesus, I pray Holy
- 2:18Spirit, you will teach us and guide us and show us the eternal
- 2:22paths of Yahweh the way. We thank you, Father, for all of
- 2:26your many blessings that you've already poured out upon us
- 2:30today, or even the things that we're not even aware of.
- 2:33Thank you, God, for putting the hedge of protection around us as
- 2:38we slept through the night. Thank you, Father, that you gave
- 2:43us another day where your mercies are new.
- 2:46And God, we wake up and we acknowledge you, and we are
- 2:49asking that you will lead us and you will direct our steps,
- 2:53Father, for many of the plans of a man, But you direct our steps,
- 2:58Father. So I pray in the name of Jesus
- 3:00for your will to be done and Your Kingdom to come here on
- 3:03this earth just as it is there in heaven.
- 3:06Father, I pray for daily bread today.
- 3:08God Almighty, I pray for forgiveness for all the times
- 3:12that we have come up short, Father.
- 3:14And I pray we can extend that forgiveness out to the people
- 3:17who are not even asking for forgiveness, God, that we can
- 3:21extend out forgiveness to the undeserving, God, because we
- 3:25were undeserving and God, we were once sinners.
- 3:28We were once caught up in all of the idol worship and all of the
- 3:33Pagan idolatrous things that people are wrapped in.
- 3:36Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that you will bind the
- 3:41enemy. God, keep us from the accuser.
- 3:44Father, silence his accusations. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 3:48that we will be not, that we will not be LED off into traps
- 3:53and snares. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 3:56you put us on the highway. Father, I pray in the name of
- 4:00Jesus that you will lead us home.
- 4:03God, we are your sheep, You are the shepherd, and we pray for
- 4:07your rod today, for they cut it comforts us.
- 4:10God, you are leading us besides Stillwater, Father, and you are
- 4:15comforting us. So God, we say yes and Amen to
- 4:18all of your promises, Lord Jesus, for yours is the power,
- 4:23Yours is the Kingdom, yours is the glory forever, and it's in
- 4:27Jesus Christ. Holy glory, worthy name and we
- 4:38pray today, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 4:50Moreover, brothers, I would not that you should be ignorant how
- 4:56that all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through
- 5:01the sea. So this is Israel in the
- 5:04wilderness getting LED out of Egypt out of bondage.
- 5:08There are many people who have been LED through the dry ground
- 5:13as the sea was parted. The Red Sea got parted and you
- 5:17were led through on dry ground and you were once a slave to sin
- 5:21and now you are wandering in the wilderness and we are awaiting
- 5:26our promised land. And many start to mumble and
- 5:29grumble and they want to go back into slavery.
- 5:33But it is impossible for God to split the sea again, for you to
- 5:37walk back through so you can get your leeks and onions.
- 5:41And here we're going to see how the Israelites grieve the heart
- 5:46of God. Because where there should have
- 5:48been gratitude, there was ingratitude.
- 5:51And we are no different friends. So many of us desired to go back
- 5:55into sin. So many of us have not counted
- 5:59the cost. Well, and when we get on this
- 6:01side, we realize that we are offended by God's ways.
- 6:06And there's no way we can believe in the God who would
- 6:09allow such atrocities. There is no way we can believe
- 6:13in the God who would allow all of the diseases.
- 6:17And we get offended and we fall away.
- 6:20And the apostate church rises, friends, and you can see it all
- 6:24playing out. And this is what he is going to
- 6:28reference here of how these Corinthians were behaving no
- 6:33different than the Israelites in the wilderness.
- 6:37And here you must remember that Paul is talking to a church in
- 6:42Corinth. And these were Gentiles, and he
- 6:46was giving them the back history of the Jewish faith.
- 6:51Verse 2. And we're all baptized unto
- 6:54Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
- 6:57So there was a picture of baptism as they pass through the
- 7:01waters on each side, the wall of water on each side, as they pass
- 7:06through the dry land you and I pass through from death into
- 7:09life. The regenerated man has been
- 7:12born twice, friends. And here he is saying that they
- 7:16were baptized. All the Israelites as they went
- 7:20through the waters they were baptized in to all the decrees
- 7:25in the law of Moses, 3 and did eat and did all eat the same
- 7:31spiritual meat. So we know that God gave them
- 7:34quail to eat in the wilderness, and He gave them the manna as
- 7:39well, these wafer like crisps. And you can see here that God
- 7:44provided for them the entire 40 years.
- 7:47He kept them alive and sustained them and their shoes didn't even
- 7:52wear out and they took gold and they took all of the luxury from
- 7:58Egypt as they were leaving that place because of all the plagues
- 8:02that had happened in the first born sons that were killed on
- 8:07the night of the Passover where they were to take the hyssop and
- 8:10they were to dip it in the lamb's blood and put it on the
- 8:13lentil. And we celebrate the Passover
- 8:16because the death Angel has passed us over and we have gone
- 8:21from death into life. Friends for and did all drink
- 8:28the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual
- 8:32rock that followed them, and that rock was Christ.
- 8:37Just imagine that as they're asking God for water and Moses
- 8:42strikes the rock, it is all in reference of Jesus Christ being
- 8:47in their midst, Emmanuel, God with us, and these
- 8:51Christophanies all the way back in the wilderness where the
- 8:54Israelites were being LED out of bondage and into the Promised
- 8:58Land. And our lives should look like
- 9:00that as well. And Jesus Christ is our rock,
- 9:04and it is the rock that was cut out not by human hands, and it
- 9:07smashes all of the kingdoms and it pulverizes them into dust,
- 9:13Friends. These 10 toes of clay and iron
- 9:16that are intermingled and could never get along and cohabitate,
- 9:21friends. And it is all written about and
- 9:23prophesied about, and we're seeing it in our day and our
- 9:26hour and it's all around us. Wake up, O sleeper.
- 9:30Look around and see that your redemption is drawing near.
- 9:33The leaves are on the fig tree, Friends, this rock is following
- 9:37us, and do not let it be a rock of a fence to you.
- 9:41Friends. 5 But with many of them, God was not well pleased,
- 9:53for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
- 9:56So we're going to see that only two of this generation got to
- 10:00actually make it into the Promised Land because of all of
- 10:03their mumblings and grumblings and all of the sins that they
- 10:08committed against God, of making the golden calf and disobeying
- 10:13God and displeasing God. And only to Caleb and Joshua
- 10:17actually made it into the promised land.
- 10:20And they were leading an entirely new generation in to
- 10:25God's promised land, the land flowing with milk and honey. 6
- 10:32Now these things were our examples to the intent we should
- 10:38not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
- 10:42You know, all the prophets of old long to see this day, and
- 10:46we're actually getting to see all these people, these
- 10:49forerunners who came before us as examples for us.
- 10:53How long-suffering is God Almighty that He would raise up
- 10:57generations just to be an example for you and for me?
- 11:02Deep calls to deepen this calls for wisdom.
- 11:05Friends. They lusted after the evil
- 11:09things. They were overthrown in the
- 11:11wilderness. Seven.
- 11:13Neither be you idolaters. As for some of them, as it is
- 11:18written, the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to
- 11:22play. This is sexual immorality that
- 11:25is referenced here. This play.
- 11:28These were idolatrous drunken orgies.
- 11:31Friends, and God was not well pleased with them in all of
- 11:36their licentiousness. Friends, the lusting and the
- 11:39whoring after idols, and they brought all of those Pagan ideas
- 11:45out of Egypt. Friends, they sat down to eat
- 11:50and drink, and then they rose up to play.
- 11:53We would do well to have a monogamous relationship, and the
- 11:57marriage bed is holy. 8. Neither.
- 12:03Let us commit fornication, as some of them committed and fell
- 12:06in one day. Three and 20,000.
- 12:10So he's referencing two different events here in this
- 12:13one verse. He's referencing the 3000 that
- 12:16fell and he's also referencing the 24,000 that fell.
- 12:20And he's pushing the two ideas here together in one little
- 12:24verse and he's showing the Corinthians that if they will
- 12:29not obey God, it is only going to lead to their destruction and
- 12:35demise. And they don't need to try and
- 12:39tempt God and think that they could just abuse grace and use
- 12:44it as a license to sin. And Paul is warning them that
- 12:49God did not spare those in the wilderness.
- 12:52And we are not talking about salvific issues here, friends.
- 12:56We are talking about the rewards.
- 12:58We are talking about getting snuffed out, premature surely,
- 13:02and we cannot understand all of God's ways, but sometimes there
- 13:07is a sin that leads unto death. We do not need to tempt Christ,
- 13:16friends. We do not need to commit
- 13:18fornication. We do not need to be in sexual
- 13:21immorality. Now neither let us tempt Christ
- 13:25as some of them also tempted and were destroyed of serpents.
- 13:32So just think about it. God loved them, was leading them
- 13:35out of bondage and in the wilderness, which should have
- 13:40only taken a short time, took 40 years, friends.
- 13:44And you could see here that in God's sword displeasure with his
- 13:48people, the serpents came. Think about it.
- 13:53And it was because they tempted Christ.
- 13:55We need not tipped Christ, friends, this is serious
- 14:02business and we do not need to be irreverent, we do not need to
- 14:06be sacrilegious in our worship unto Him.
- 14:10This is serious. And yes, God gives grace and
- 14:16grace of bounds, but we need not sin so that grace would abound
- 14:21all the more. God forbid. 10 Neither murmur
- 14:29you, some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the
- 14:35destroyer. There's this destroying Angel
- 14:38that God possesses then has and created friends and it is the
- 14:42one that went into the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000
- 14:47Assyrians and one night friends. And it is the same destroying
- 14:51Angel that on the night of the Passover went in and killed all
- 14:55the first born sons. And we need not murmur against
- 15:00God and against his ways, friends, because you can see the
- 15:03example that is set for us. And there are many who have
- 15:09erred on this side. And they called God into the
- 15:14courtroom and they thought they could take God to task.
- 15:17And they were calling all of God's ways into question.
- 15:22And we need to be like Job at the end of the book of Job and
- 15:26put our hand over our mouth and say, I've said too much.
- 15:35Think about it, friends, this destroyer.
- 15:39We should work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
- 15:44And it is an all inspiring fear, friends, and we should rejoice
- 15:53with trembling that we can even be known by Him, that our names
- 16:00are even written in the Lamb's book of life, that we're counted
- 16:05his. What an awesome thing to
- 16:09meditate upon. If God is for us, then who can
- 16:12be against US11 Now all these things happened upon them for
- 16:19examples, as they are written for our admonition, upon whom
- 16:24the ends of the world are come. This wilderness, this wilderness
- 16:30experience is an example unto us.
- 16:33Think about it, how amazing is our God that He would have all
- 16:37of these things written down for our edification, that we can
- 16:41look and we can, We can be wise and we can be warned, and we can
- 16:45be the virgins who keep our lamps full and our Wicks
- 16:51trimmed. 12 Wherefore let him that thinks that he stands take
- 16:55heed, unless he falls. Think about it friends, those
- 16:59who think of themselves as wise as in their own eyes, and the
- 17:05little bit that you have will be taken from you.
- 17:08We do not need to be prideful and puffed up.
- 17:11We need to make sure we stay humble and in humility and level
- 17:15with the gravel friends and laying prostate at His feet so
- 17:19that He can lift our chin up and He can fill us with His presence
- 17:23and He can give us the fullness of the Spirit and that we can go
- 17:28out into the earth and be difference makers and we are
- 17:32more than conquerors. But we do not need to be
- 17:35prideful. Pride is the thing that always
- 17:40gets our lamps to be snuffed out.
- 17:43Do not become prideful. Do not become arrogant.
- 17:47It is a good way for, like Samson, for God to depart and to
- 17:53turn you over to the systems of the world.
- 17:57And yes, you might still hold on to your salvation friends, but
- 18:03the anointing has left. 13 There has no temptation taken you, but
- 18:11such as is common demand. But God is faithful who will not
- 18:15suffer you to be tempted above all that you are able, but will
- 18:20with the temptation also make a way to escape that you may be
- 18:24able to bear it. 13 is a magnificent verse.
- 18:28Underline it, highlight it. Really 12 and 13, really the
- 18:31entire Bible. Just circle the whole Bible.
- 18:34Underline the whole Bible. Highlight the whole Bible,
- 18:38friends, it is a wonderful promise from God.
- 18:42And listen to what he's saying here.
- 18:43He's saying for sure you're going to have temptations for
- 18:50sure. But when you are tempted, do not
- 18:55give into it. Stop and pause.
- 19:00Call upon the name of the Lord and go to war.
- 19:05Put the belt of truth on, put on that breastplate of
- 19:10righteousness. Go ahead and put on those shoes,
- 19:14the gospel shoes of peace. Put your helmet of salvation on.
- 19:19Grab the shield of faith and grab the sword of the word,
- 19:24friends. And you are going to find that
- 19:28if you will not give in to the temptation.
- 19:30There's a mountain pass. There's a cleft in the rock to
- 19:35hide into. There is a way of escape that
- 19:38God has given you, the way that God designed and created all of
- 19:43the world. And even as Satan is in the
- 19:46world, as the accuser of the brethren and the tempter has
- 19:49gone out and he's the Prince of the air, friends, you need to
- 19:53know that God is higher and God is stronger.
- 19:57And you need to know that God always provides a way out.
- 20:01And that if we will call upon the name of the Lord Jesus
- 20:04Christ, we will be able to bear the load that comes, and it will
- 20:09not crush us. And we will be like Joseph
- 20:12whenever Potiphar's wife was trying to come against him and
- 20:16trying to get him to sin against God and sin against Potiphar,
- 20:22and he would flee from her presence as she grabbed a hold
- 20:26of his coat. Friends, you need to understand
- 20:29there is always a way out, that God does not ever allow Satan to
- 20:35tempt you without giving you a way out.
- 20:39Friends, that is what we all need to remember in the midst of
- 20:47the temptation. Whether it is your phone, throw
- 20:50it out the window. Friends, no matter what it is,
- 20:54if it is your work environment, find another job.
- 20:59Whether it is your friend group, find another friend group.
- 21:04Whether it is the television, whether it is whatever is coming
- 21:08at you, if you have to go a certain way to get to work and
- 21:12in the meantime you get tempted, find another way around.
- 21:15Leave the house earlier, friends.
- 21:17If it is a billboard that keeps drawing your eyes, go another
- 21:21way, friends. We need to get a house phone.
- 21:26Get a flip phone if that is what your temptation is.
- 21:31There is always a way out. We do not get the excuse that we
- 21:36are too weak to resist. God will provide that way out.
- 21:39Don't forget it, friends. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved,
- 21:48flee from idolatry. Don't just resist it, flee from
- 21:53it. Big difference.
- 21:56Resisting is trying to stay in it and trying to get over it.
- 22:02Fleeing is absolutely leaving the entire scene, going as far
- 22:08away from it as possible. If you want to change your
- 22:12habits, you must change your environment.
- 22:15Friends 15 I speak as to wise men.
- 22:20Judge what I say. He's saying deep calls to deep
- 22:24in. This calls for wisdom.
- 22:26Judge for yourselves and we must have these personal experiences.
- 22:30I cannot just push these things upon you.
- 22:33These are only things that I have had to go through in my own
- 22:37walk with the Lord. Friends, this is personal and I
- 22:40want you to know that it is available to you.
- 22:43There is nothing that is available to me that is not
- 22:47available to you. But we must empty ourselves of
- 22:50ourselves. Rid yourself of all of the
- 22:53carnal, worldly, fleshy pleasures, friends, because He
- 23:00is worthy in the abundant life that you will find far exceeds
- 23:04anything that all of the pleasures and pleasantries of
- 23:09this world could ever offer you. And just remember, whenever
- 23:13Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and Satan said, bow
- 23:16down to me and all these things, I will give you these kingdoms
- 23:19of the world. And so many people sell their
- 23:22birthright for a mess of pottage.
- 23:24But Jesus could see through it all, friends, and I pray that so
- 23:30can you. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the
- 23:38communion of the blood of Christ, the bread which we
- 23:42broke, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
- 23:46So you can see here that Paul is going to take the Corinthians to
- 23:51task and he's going to talk about how they have been acting
- 23:56in their communion and they were overindulging in both the food
- 24:03and in the drink. They were gluttonous and they
- 24:07were drunkards. And Paul is going to call them
- 24:10out and show them there needs to be reverence and they need to
- 24:16make sure that whenever they do communion with each other that
- 24:22it is in a way that pleases the Lord. 17 For we being many are
- 24:30one bread, one body, for we are all partakers of that one bread.
- 24:36So that is what you need to understand is that communion
- 24:41should be done very often. It's very common.
- 24:44And we do it in remembrance of what Jesus Christ did for us on
- 24:51the night of his crucifixion, the night of his arrest.
- 24:54Friends, we need to remember him in the upper room breaking the
- 24:59bread and telling them that that is his body broken and drinking
- 25:04the wine and telling them that that is his blood spilled out
- 25:08and he told them prior when he had a great multitude in front
- 25:13of him. He said Unless you drink my
- 25:16blood and eat my flesh, you have no part with me, friends.
- 25:21And you need to understand that this communion is very special
- 25:28unto God, and it is not the actual blood and it is not the
- 25:34actual body. It is in remembrance, but it is
- 25:37more than just a symbol, friends.
- 25:41This is something that is divine and it pleases God, and we do it
- 25:48as often as we eat bread and as often as we drink wine.
- 25:54And yes, we can come together as a body and as a congregation,
- 25:59and it should be very special and very reverent.
- 26:05But you also need to know this is a common thing that should be
- 26:08done as often as we are eating bread and drinking wine. 18
- 26:15Behold Israel after the flesh. Are not they which eat of the
- 26:19sacrifices partakers of the altar?
- 26:22So here we can see that He wants us to lock in and to make sure
- 26:30that we are emptied of all of the sinful desires and all of
- 26:35our lustings and whoring after idols.
- 26:39We need to make sure that when we come to the Lord's Supper,
- 26:45when we come to the eating of His flesh and the drinking of
- 26:49His blood, that we are not doing it haphazardly and flippantly,
- 26:54friends, that we understand the gravity of what He did that
- 26:59night for us. 19 What say I then?
- 27:07That the idol is anything or that which is offered and
- 27:11sacrificed to idols is anything. So he's not going back on what
- 27:15he's already taught about in the previous couple chapters
- 27:19whenever he told them that there is no God other than our God,
- 27:24the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all of the other
- 27:28lowercase G gods are just idols. They cannot see, they cannot
- 27:33hear. There is only one true living
- 27:35God, and he's not going back on that.
- 27:38He's telling them that this sacrificing to the idols that he
- 27:46is accusing the Corinthians of is something they need to take
- 27:54very serious. And he's not saying that there's
- 27:57any inherent power in any of the physical idols there, but there
- 28:02are representations of the fallen angels in the demonic.
- 28:07And they would love for us to be ignorant of what is actually
- 28:12happening in the spiritual realm.
- 28:15And they will take advantage and try to get any amount of worship
- 28:19and glory in our ignorance, friends.
- 28:22And that is why we must beware and be on guard.
- 28:25And that is why we must understand that this is so much
- 28:29more that is happening than just the physical bread and the
- 28:32physical wine, that God Himself is honored and glorified
- 28:38whenever we remember what Jesus did for us on that night.
- 28:44Friends, that is what we are after and that is what we seek
- 28:49for, is we want God to be honored and to be blessed and to
- 28:53be glorified. And we need not be polluted and
- 28:57stained by the world and all of the idol worship and all of the
- 29:01demonic hosts who try to usurp this worship.
- 29:05And that was the cause of the fall of Satan.
- 29:08And all of the third of the angels, friends, these fallen
- 29:13angels, is because they wanted worship.
- 29:16And that is why he is called the Antichrist.
- 29:20He could have been called the monster, he could have been
- 29:23called the dragon, but he is called the Antichrist because he
- 29:29desires worship. And he sets up all of these
- 29:32false places of worship, and he wants to be higher than God.
- 29:41There is none higher than God. And we need to understand there
- 29:45is a whole lot more going on than just us coming to get our
- 29:49bellies full or coming to get drunk. 20 But I say that the
- 30:01things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to
- 30:05devils and not to God. And I would not that you should
- 30:08have fellowship with devils. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the
- 30:13Lord and a cup of the devils. You cannot be partakers of the
- 30:19Lord's table and of the devil of the table of devils. 22 Do we
- 30:26provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
- 30:29You shall have no other gods besides the Lord God Almighty.
- 30:34Yahweh. I deny Elian El Shaddai, we need
- 30:39to understand that He will take second place to no one and share
- 30:42his glory with no one. And we cannot intermingle all of
- 30:47the idol practices. And that is how we started this
- 30:50whole chapter off. And he showed us how the
- 30:53Israelites grieve the heart of God because they were trying to
- 30:57intermingle the golden calf with all of the tablets of stone and
- 31:02they were trying to intermingle all of the Pagan idolatrous
- 31:06worship in with the worship of God.
- 31:09And he will have none of it, friends.
- 31:11And we need to understand that we do not take communion just so
- 31:17we can have a bite to eat and get a sip to drink.
- 31:20Friends, this is something that we need to come and we need to
- 31:26consecrate our hearts and our minds.
- 31:28We need to make sure that we understand the gravity of what
- 31:31Jesus Christ did and who it is that we are representing and
- 31:36worshiping in that moment, Friends.
- 31:38And your whole life should be an act of worship unto God.
- 31:44Are you stronger than Him? Are you trying to intermingle
- 31:47the world in with the things of God, the holy things, friends?
- 31:52And all the earth is the Lords and everything in it.
- 31:54And we would do well to make sure that we see every moment of
- 31:58every day as unto God never checking out and never
- 32:01compartmentalizing. 23 All things are lawful for me, but
- 32:06all things are not expedient. All things are lawful for me,
- 32:10but all things edified not. And that is the whole purpose is
- 32:14that everything is permissible, but not everything is
- 32:18beneficial. And when we step up to
- 32:20communion, when we step up to prayer, when we step up to
- 32:25worship, we need to make sure that we're not intermingling all
- 32:29the Pagan practices into our worship unto God.
- 32:32This is how you will cause God to become jealous.
- 32:35He is a jealous God and He will share His glory with No 124.
- 32:41Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
- 32:45So he's saying that we should be edifying each other and not
- 32:49being a stumbling block to our brothers.
- 32:52We should be thinking of others as better than ourselves friends
- 32:58we should be taking the low position of a servant friends,
- 33:02and and making sure we're washing our brother's feet. 25
- 33:07whatsoever is sold in the shambles that eat asking no
- 33:11question for conscience sake. So he into the last two chapters
- 33:16before this one, talking about meat that was sacrificed to
- 33:20idols. And was it OK to eat in the
- 33:24places of the idol worship there in the temples where they would
- 33:27go in and buy the meat. And he is telling them that when
- 33:32you are invited into hospitality for your own conscience sake,
- 33:36don't even ask the person has this been sacrificed to idols?
- 33:41If you have a clear conscience and if you are not told about
- 33:46it, then it should not bother you in the inner man.
- 33:49It should not bother you in your conscience.
- 33:51It should not bother you in your spirit, friends.
- 33:53And he's telling you that you have great liberty, but do not
- 33:57abuse that liberty. And the moment that you know
- 34:00that a place is worshipping the devil and they're calling in all
- 34:04of the evil things, there is such a an amazing amount of
- 34:09responsibility for you to flee from that area and get out of
- 34:13that place. But if you can go into that
- 34:15place and be a light unto that place, then that is what you
- 34:19should do. And this calls for wisdom,
- 34:21Friends 26 for the earth is the Lords in the fullness thereof.
- 34:28He's going to tell us that a couple times here.
- 34:30And we need to understand that everything that God made is
- 34:34good. We are the ones who attach the
- 34:43wrongful false worship to in and of itself.
- 34:51God's creation is good, and if he is holy, you are holy, and
- 34:59blessed is the man who sins will never be counted against him,
- 35:02and you have great grace and liberty.
- 35:05But we need not abuse that. Friends. 27 If any of them that
- 35:15believe not, bid you to a feast, and you be disposed to go,
- 35:21whatsoever is set before you eat, asking no questions for
- 35:26conscience sake. So that is the principle here,
- 35:30that you have great liberty, friends, and you can go into the
- 35:36darkest places and not be stained by those things.
- 35:40If you're walking in the spirit, you can be of great help and you
- 35:43can snatch many out of those deplorable positions.
- 35:49But we also need to know that the moment that our conscience
- 35:53is pricked, if we go against it, it is sin to know what you ought
- 35:58to do and not to do it. It is sin, friends, and there is
- 36:04a very thin line between us abusing grace and us walking in
- 36:11our liberty, and this calls for wisdom. 28 But if any man say
- 36:19unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not
- 36:24for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake.
- 36:32For the earth is the Lord's and the fullness of it.
- 36:35So he's saying as an example to those that are stuck in that
- 36:38Satanic New Age occult practice that we should not eat it
- 36:44because they will see that we are Christian and that there is
- 36:48a difference in US. And because of conscience sake
- 36:52and because of this person's sake, and we do not want to be a
- 36:57stumbling block, we will not eat anything that we knowingly know
- 37:02is sacrificed unto idols and satanic worship. 29 conscience.
- 37:12I say not your own, but of the other.
- 37:17For why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
- 37:21So? Because none of our sins will
- 37:23ever be counted against us, we still do not need to be a
- 37:27stumbling block for another. 30-4 If I by grace be a
- 37:33partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give
- 37:39thanks. So imagine that you have a
- 37:41Christian who is found getting drunk at a bar and it's not a
- 37:46salvific issue and they're still going to get to go to heaven.
- 37:50But what is their witness amongst men?
- 37:53They have none. It has been stripped away and
- 37:56that is the tactic of the enemy. Friends.
- 38:00We do not need to look like the rest of the world.
- 38:03We are called out of the world, friends, and we should be the
- 38:08difference makers in our community. 31 Whether,
- 38:16therefore, you eat, drink, whatsoever you do, do all to the
- 38:22glory of God. That's the whole point of the
- 38:25whole matter, friends. Every single thing that you do
- 38:33should be an act of worship unto God.
- 38:37Whether it is watching a movie, whether it is listening to
- 38:40music, whether it is in your spare time, your free time, your
- 38:45idle time. No matter what you were doing,
- 38:48the work that you do, how you make a living, the way that you
- 38:52treat your family, the way that you treat your friends, the way
- 38:57that you walk in all of society should be an act of worship unto
- 39:03God. And we've got to see God's glory
- 39:07in the mundane. We have to see that He's in the
- 39:10taking out of the trash, that He is in the washing of the dishes,
- 39:15that He is in all things that we do, the paying of our bills, the
- 39:20going to the store. He is in it all.
- 39:23And it is not until the light bulb moment comes on that you
- 39:27can see God in every single arena of your life, that you
- 39:32will be discouraged and you'll be yearning for more.
- 39:44And you will find yourself pricked with many sorrows
- 39:50because you're making the world out to be something that God
- 39:54never intended it to be you. You will be building your own
- 39:58Kingdom instead of living within the dominion in the Kingdom that
- 40:02God is ruling and reigning all around us at all times.
- 40:08He is not just in heaven. And we're waiting to get there.
- 40:12He is moving mightily in our midst every day.
- 40:16And we need to get in line with what He's already doing.
- 40:19Friends, we do not need to manufacture anything.
- 40:22All we need to do is acknowledge Him and He will lead us and He
- 40:27will direct us. Home, friends, and we will go
- 40:29from glory to glory. Hallelujah and Amen. 32 Give no
- 40:37offense neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the
- 40:41Church of God. We'll end on 33 even as I please
- 40:45all men in all things, not seeking my own prophet, but the
- 40:49prophet of many, that they may be saved.
- 40:56Paul here has channeled the heart of God and what it's all
- 41:00about. Friends, we don't need to be an
- 41:04offense to those. We do not need to offend those
- 41:07who are watching us. And you're being watched whether
- 41:10you like it or not. And think about it.
- 41:13Think about how many people's salvation is on the line when
- 41:16they're watching you and you're saying one thing and you're
- 41:19doing another. And they say, if that's what
- 41:21church is all about, I want no part of it.
- 41:24If that's what God is all about, I want no part of it.
- 41:27If that's what the Bible teaches, I want no part of it.
- 41:34This is the gravity of our walk with Him.
- 41:40Heaven and hell weigh in the balance for so many, and it
- 41:46should be our heart. And it is God's heart that many
- 41:50will come into the fold and give their life over to Him today.
- 41:55And who knows how. And we never get the credit.
- 41:58It's all about God, but He uses us, friends.
- 42:04And if you desire to be used by God, you must empty yourself of
- 42:10self and all of your vanity and all of your pride and reputation
- 42:17and all of yourself seeking and self preservation.
- 42:21And you must be willing to go to the cross and to be spilled out
- 42:26for Him. His heart is that none would
- 42:32perish, but that all would come to him.
- 42:37I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter here in
- 42:39God's Word. I know I sure have.
- 42:51I'm praying for you. I love you.
- 42:55So does God. Stay prayed up today.
- 43:04We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 43:06God bless you.
