- 2:52They do just jacked is killing the game JS Michaels.
- 2:55Let's go on on brother the a BJ podcast.
- 2:59I am honored sir to be on your podcast and I hope I can add
- 3:04some non-wrestling Flair to your podcast as well because her Long
- 3:07time. I haven't been a wrestler.
- 3:09So that's interesting. All in of itself.
- 3:12Yeah. So you did start off in this
- 3:14scene as you were telling me as a backyard ER kind of.
- 3:19So I was in high school in 1997. So this might also be a first
- 3:23and probably your oldest podcast.
- 3:25Guest I just turned 40 in my business last month, they turned
- 3:2843. So proudly proudly, 43 years old
- 3:31so you look great I wish I was here for 43.
- 3:34I'm a I'm a fat slob takes a lot of Work, man, a lot of sacrifice
- 3:39and not different than what everybody puts into being the
- 3:42wrestling business to begin with, very you sacrifice all
- 3:44day, every day, man. Even to just get this whole
- 3:46thing rolling. But to talk about 1997, I was in
- 3:49high school. I started working at McDonald's,
- 3:51so McDonald's is actually the birth of that way championship
- 3:56wrestling. And that is the birth of a lot
- 3:58of the things you see today in wrestling in northeast PA.
- 4:02So it all started when I was working at McDonald's and I
- 4:06heard a bunch of kids in Old Forge, which For high school
- 4:0897th 1997, classic class of 97. Graduate, we all decided to do
- 4:14wrestling in the backyard. Actually they had started it and
- 4:17I joined it and there were a few names that you might know.
- 4:20Today, that are still going, that reported that Federation
- 4:23and it was called now. Get ready for this.
- 4:25The most backyard name ever extreme hardcore championship
- 4:28wrestling. Extreme hardcore hacks x69
- 4:32backyard. Bloodbath squared right?
- 4:3690s been love it. It and so under those cool asses
- 4:40that the where all the cool asses, you know, I'm talking
- 4:42about 19. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because we
- 4:45were all, you know, everybody that was teenagers in the 90s
- 4:48came up in the 80s. So we're all a little bit edgy,
- 4:50Rock to begin with, so we had to put that extreme super mega
- 4:54hardcore and then ECW of course, didn't help.
- 4:56I mean, that's where, you know, we all want it to be like ECW
- 4:59and attitude her, right? So wrestling and backyards to
- 5:03what end up being when I turned officially look this, Up on the
- 5:08Internet underground wrestling. So how do you bridge the gap
- 5:12between under underground and backyard wrestling, right?
- 5:16Well, we learned we trained each cwk was this very small group
- 5:20and then we had another group from Sweet Valley called Valley
- 5:23championship wrestling who came in and scouted our shows.
- 5:26And essentially like the bunch of our talent in there.
- 5:29Like we put on these shows in the backyard and Sweet Valley,
- 5:32cool will come and Russell for you.
- 5:35Then we got a building So, now we couldn't, it was getting away
- 5:40from backyard because it literally wasn't in a backyard.
- 5:42We also had a little bit of training, so there was a dude,
- 5:46named Jet Jaguar, who trained. It was one of the founders of
- 5:50ECW and Sweet Valley. I think his sister dated this
- 5:54Jaguar, dude. And he learned all the bumps.
- 5:56So we started learning the bumps that way.
- 5:59So, that's how we kind of went from backyard to underground and
- 6:02I'll pause because I'm sure there's so many of the few
- 6:05things you want to ask about that, too.
- 6:08Yeah, so when you transition from backyard to a school and
- 6:12start learning that aspect, is there a lot is there blowback?
- 6:16It's like, I get out of here. Kids, your backyard errs.
- 6:18We're not welcome, or did they bring you in so they can teach
- 6:21you the business. The proper way like, is there,
- 6:23is there a barrier there at that point in time, in the early
- 6:25stages? So there wasn't a school, there
- 6:27was Larry, Adam, Steve, and Keith, and John who all got
- 6:33trained by this dude, who passed down his knowledge and how to
- 6:36bump, how to do. Certain moves.
- 6:38And then they taught us them. And before, you know it, we had
- 6:40our first show in 1999 Cafe, metropolis, and Clubhouse.
- 6:46Sorry, yeah. Cafe metropolis.
- 6:47And Wilkes-Barre. And we drew pretty good.
- 6:49We only had three matches and Pop Quiz and you won't be able
- 6:53to answer this particular guess what wrestling personality that
- 6:57you're very familiar with today was my first match in value
- 7:00championship, wrestling. Wrestling personality is I'm
- 7:03going to take that as a hint. So I do know a little bit but I
- 7:07believe you came up with diamond City.
- 7:10They were part of that early stages, right?
- 7:12Eric and brabzzz not not the first stage.
- 7:18I know Pete had some time in that area to Pete the long.
- 7:21So, it is, that is that, is that your answer?
- 7:23Pete? It is PE.
- 7:24Ya love me. Was he was in, he was a big fan
- 7:28of Insane, Clown. Posse grown up.
- 7:29And yeah, he almost got to have one is back.
- 7:32Yeah, I was really talked about that.
- 7:34He had changed and green hair and his current wife was also
- 7:37his valet Sarah. So, very cool.
- 7:40And Pete was my first match in Valley championship wrestling,
- 7:43which then, kind of exploded. Now, you talk about the
- 7:46blowback. Oh there was blow back a little
- 7:49bit from our neighbors and Hazelton which were also known
- 7:52as the wild Samoans wxw. And it's funny because we were
- 7:57big fans of them. We would actually go to their
- 7:58shows and we formed a fan club called The snapmare Fan Club.
- 8:02So 19 of us would go in populate most of her shows and pop only
- 8:06force a just for the element. We just like going there.
- 8:09We like to interact or interact with their folks but if you ask
- 8:12them back in the day even if you have Strasse by gathering
- 8:14fucking backyards like that's how we started.
- 8:17But it was there was a it was you know I feel like I get the
- 8:23stigma, right? So like when you're running a
- 8:25company and you have to go through everything to this state
- 8:27and you have to go through everything in the proper
- 8:29channels and and you have to spend money that realistically
- 8:32you probably shouldn't have to spend as a, as a wrestling
- 8:35organization. And then you have backyard kids,
- 8:37who are kind of circumventing the process and not paying for
- 8:39training and not paying for this, and they're just kind of
- 8:42doing it on their own way. I can see the blow back a little
- 8:45bit and I feel like that those, those organizations should try
- 8:49to talk to those kids. Like, hey, man, like we like
- 8:51what you do? Let's let's bring you in and
- 8:53train you properly instead of like becoming Outcast, your, and
- 8:57I mean, because most backyard was, I'm going to assume are
- 8:59like, you know, the punk rock kids, who are like this.
- 9:01I can't afford 400 500 bucks a month to go to your school.
- 9:05I'd love to, I would love to be a part of the wild Samoans, but
- 9:08I just can't afford a man. I just can't.
- 9:10But it's still my dream. And I want to chase this dream.
- 9:13Yeah, we didn't. We weren't Rich Kids by any
- 9:15means. So we could have word whatever
- 9:16they want. Charge, your could be afford to
- 9:19drive to Hazleton to train and then like we kind of got to the
- 9:23point where I'm like screw you and screw what you're doing.
- 9:26Like we respect you you do your thing but we don't want to be
- 9:29part of that we want a revolution right?
- 9:31So in some way we were inspired by ECW and we are ring crew for
- 9:34ECW on. One of the shows are a few of
- 9:37the shows of the Kingston Armory and we got to go backstage and
- 9:40balls. Mahoney would watch our stuff
- 9:42and give us pointers and tips. So we felt pretty cool about
- 9:44ourselves and then we drew like Added like we packed Cafe Metro
- 9:49wall-to-wall with people. Now granted the tickets for
- 9:51three bucks, and we used to really heavily take it, you
- 9:55know, flyer. All the, the shows that they
- 9:57used to do there at Cafe Metropolis.
- 10:00So, you know, obviously we have a good streak team because it
- 10:02was us, we were cleaning up after the shows on Saturdays,
- 10:05putting together the ring, which was their stage, bringing it
- 10:07Forward putting on the post on Sundays and then having our
- 10:10shows once a month. And man, like the fact that we
- 10:14drew that much, and then there was this other Kind of event
- 10:18that happened. We had a I think it was one of
- 10:20the fan. I promised name drops of people.
- 10:22Nobody will even know and people that people do know today.
- 10:26There's a dude named refereed in Mills and I think Danielle's
- 10:29cousin worked at the. I think it was the fu overrated,
- 10:31then the first year in an arena which is now, Mohegan Sun Arena.
- 10:34Well WCW had a show there and they left behind their entire
- 10:37form scripted promos how to run a ship.
- 10:40I go. I wish I had to the copy I don't
- 10:42need to maybe somebody does. I never you know, maybe Frank
- 10:44Frank in our dough and Frankie Angelini or local Dorian for
- 10:47VCW, has a copy possible but it showed us how to run a
- 10:51professional show at. That's how we did it.
- 10:53We had formats moving forward, we had promos and then we had a
- 10:56lot of rehearsals, right? So I know back in the day it was
- 10:59a lot of content on the Fly. Not a lot of, you know, we're
- 11:03going to go out there and you know, we're going to run through
- 11:05the script. Well, no savage steam, boiler is
- 11:08calling you at 4:00 in the morning.
- 11:10Walk me through seven through 15 one more time.
- 11:13Now I didn't have a tag partner who was heavily into that but
- 11:17Everybody else not so much. And then we started to do these
- 11:20like rehearsal. So almost like a theater, right?
- 11:23We're going to do these staged fights.
- 11:25We're going to practice certain moves a couple times a week and
- 11:28then we're also going to we're going to critique each other.
- 11:31You'll know you got to go back and change that.
- 11:32You gotta change that spot so it was a little bit more
- 11:35choreographed as we moved into. Like that is probably fifth 67
- 11:39show because we realized more people are watching like we need
- 11:42a more crisp product. We want people to really like
- 11:45our brand and we ended up getting a Following of, you
- 11:47know, and for any standards, you know, Indie standards today,
- 11:51it's pretty good. And, you know, we probably
- 11:52average about, you know, somewhere between 150 to 175.
- 11:57You, 150 people show. So not too bad as a backyard
- 12:03company. That now has a venue at this
- 12:05point in time, in the 90s, you're putting more effort into
- 12:08most companies that are trying to run today.
- 12:12Yeah, it's crazy to think about like we believe we had a But 50
- 12:17people involved from the people that sold merge people pressed
- 12:20shirts, VCW shirts, they go to the local thrift store, buy a
- 12:25bunch of like, you know, Mark down shirts and then press the
- 12:28VCW logo on the manually. We had, you know, website
- 12:32people, we had all kinds of folks in the wall.
- 12:35So top to bottom of your company and we were a bunch of like 19,
- 12:3920, 21 year old. No nothing's just starting from
- 12:42scratch. So now we're really like we want
- 12:44to make this shit succeed. This is our, this is Us.
- 12:47And I think I carry that personality with me the rest of
- 12:50my life after that, and, you know, skipping ahead.
- 12:54That's why I'm involved with smash Master wrestling right
- 12:57now, because it's Grassroots. It's, we're going to do this a
- 13:00different way. We're still getting Russell, but
- 13:03we're going to put on a road flare Arrow touch, and so, you
- 13:06know, VCW to me was it was it was huge and it ended up we
- 13:12actually had a v cwnd show like an officially licensed Andy
- 13:15Show. Now y'all heard the crazy crazy
- 13:20craziness of rock and rebel and that the unfortunate thing that
- 13:25happened with his family and him and all that stuff.
- 13:28He was, he was he used his license like he somehow we
- 13:32politics, we had people who were good marketing people, and he
- 13:36came and put on a show of Steve Corino, defended the end of, uh,
- 13:38Belt on that show. Wow against Danny Rose.
- 13:43I love raucous was on the show and you just have to put Rubble
- 13:46in a match. Then you have a less yellow ring
- 13:49or something and then he is long as you booked him, he would let
- 13:51you use it. Yep.
- 13:52And Steve Corino. He brought he brought his own
- 13:56referee. So not only did you have to pay
- 13:57kirino yet to pay my Keener to? So that was funny.
- 14:00We learned a lot about the business in a very short amount
- 14:03of time at that point. Now, that's when I kind of was
- 14:05like, Hey, I don't like the way the actual Indy business.
- 14:08Works like this is weird. Like there are people on our
- 14:11show that I don't know that I don't you know, they're not part
- 14:13of our family. It was strange.
- 14:15Then we went down and up going back and to Club home base in
- 14:18Wilkes-Barre and we ran a few more shows until some other
- 14:23stuff happened. Ultimately, we got shut down the
- 14:29work following rules. So we were, we were canceled by
- 14:32the powers that be and in Pennsylvania.
- 14:35Yeah. Usually, what happens?
- 14:36Yeah, that's unfortunate man. I, you know, I had a whole talk
- 14:41and I definitely want him on someday troske about, you know,
- 14:44how he went through that whole system, and he's trying to
- 14:48change the mindset of professional wrestling and how
- 14:51its treated as a sport. You know what I mean?
- 14:54And I do get that like, Working PA in.
- 14:57Jersey are two different animals, right?
- 14:59Like, if I fall, if I know that you're going to do a wrestling
- 15:02match, right? And you fall and hurt yourself
- 15:05at a pa show, you're probably good when we have a doctor on
- 15:09site like that stuff is comforting but like like I watch
- 15:13this one match where this guy did a today 450 from the top
- 15:17rope to the outside, missed the table completely smacked his
- 15:21skull on the ground completely broke his skull and Had to be
- 15:26life-flighted. He still wrestles to this day,
- 15:28but like I said, where did this happen?
- 15:30He was PA. I go, man.
- 15:32If that would happen in Jersey, you would have that you'd been
- 15:33dead even dead. Like, sure, there's no, like,
- 15:37there's really nobody there to, like, make sure you're cool, or
- 15:40make sure something. If something goes wrong, you're
- 15:42protected and they go crazy in Jersey like there and they will,
- 15:47they'll jump off anything. You hand them, but it's just
- 15:49like, so I do understand that aspect of an athletic commission
- 15:53and having a doctor and stuff, but I don't think you should
- 15:55have to Hey, I'm athletic commission to run a show, our
- 15:58have a license and stuff like I just, I don't know, man, it did.
- 16:01We're just another Mafia northeast PA, right?
- 16:03Exactly. We all know a guy who knows the
- 16:05guy, and we also know that they had let it commissioner very
- 16:08well. Especially after the even doctor
- 16:09sometimes you show up, you're like, that's the doctor and
- 16:12they're like, yeah, I'm like, hey, it's talk to Paulie, you
- 16:16know. Yeah.
- 16:17I won't sir the promotion, but we're at a show and there was a
- 16:20spot where, a kid jumped from the outside to the, from the
- 16:22inside to the outside and landed on.
- 16:26His head neck and back. He was fine.
- 16:28He got up and finished the match, but that doctor didn't
- 16:30even Flinch. He was just like, wow, that was
- 16:32cool. I'm like, I want to get up and
- 16:36go check on them and the doctor was just like I didn't pay them
- 16:39sit in this chair. I ain't moving, you know, I
- 16:41mean, so like yeah, there's, there's different weird things,
- 16:44but yeah, it's pa. Pa is very interesting, but yes,
- 16:48so that venue you guys ran at. Is that still an active venue?
- 16:51Is that still something that's being used?
- 16:53So we ran in The metropolis and then we were kicked out because
- 16:58allegedly we put a hole in some wall that have been did the
- 17:01night before. So then we had to find Club home
- 17:02base. It was a it was like it just a
- 17:06huge like Warehouse, he kind of venue.
- 17:08We were on the first floor at that point and then eventually,
- 17:12when we came back and tried to do things, a second time is
- 17:14Valley wrestling Alliance. We wrestled on the top floor,
- 17:18and then they got are going to be great.
- 17:20Yeah, no, it was awesome and they actually Joey Devine.
- 17:24Oh Joker show. He Promoted a lot of shows as
- 17:27like, just hardcore bands and all kinds of stuff, like posi
- 17:30Fest, I guess was a really big thing.
- 17:31And I was never into that kind of music, but I guess they drew
- 17:34like a ton of people. So, when we weren't wrestling
- 17:36there, and the guys are muscling, their, they were
- 17:38basically pulling in people to do music shows.
- 17:41And, you know, again, we had a entrance way that doubled as,
- 17:44you know, stage for bands and we were used to that by that.
- 17:47We had it down on how to build it.
- 17:48It was probably constructed in like 2 weeks or less than they
- 17:51were up and running and unfortunately that didn't last
- 17:53either in the middle of all this though.
- 17:56Some of us are actually, did get tricky, okay?
- 17:58But we didn't go to school because there weren't any,
- 17:59right? This is not there.
- 18:01Wasn't your car. Yet.
- 18:02There wasn't a solid Ring of Honor Training Academy yet.
- 18:06So we somehow stumbled on Phil Stamper and rush.
- 18:12So Phil started can, you know, he took the president of
- 18:14Independent wrestling being president of Independent
- 18:17wrestling. He was an RA or R&D at misery,
- 18:20was recorded University and Dallas, Pennsylvania passed
- 18:24Wilkes-Barre and he took A liking to us.
- 18:26And he started to teach us stuff.
- 18:28He took us to this little. I don't even know what to call
- 18:31it in Allentown on to Street in Allentown.
- 18:34It was right after the Fullerton, and exit.
- 18:36We used to love it because it was really close to the
- 18:38sandman's real name. James Foley eaten, really?
- 18:41Fullerton, this is meant to be, right?
- 18:43So, a couple of us would go a couple times a week and we get
- 18:46trained by Phil. He would take us through the
- 18:48paces and learn. Here's how you really do bumps
- 18:50it here. So you call spots and then we
- 18:54also had actually troske come out a couple times and helped us
- 18:56to write and he put us through the really like, nope.
- 18:59Get up. Do it again.
- 19:00Don't get up. Do it again.
- 19:01Like the tough love? That came with troske and wxw
- 19:04training which was awesome. And we needed that a little bit
- 19:07because we kind of needed that chip knocked off our shoulders,
- 19:09right? So a couple solar next couple
- 19:11sore heads reverse or wewe barely, you know, I remember
- 19:15like driving off the road a million times, trying to drive
- 19:16home from Allentown Old Forge and Joey's car, it would be 45,
- 19:19must be queer, who barely awake and then This is where
- 19:23everything gets weird and there are a lot of synchronicities in
- 19:25my stories even today. And when even when I left pro
- 19:29wrestling, I never left pro wrestling because of these
- 19:31things, but there was this other guy who came in who think it
- 19:37was, Phil Stamper hook this up. And his name was lightning, Mike
- 19:42Quackenbush, right? So this was there was no Chikara
- 19:46yet. There is us getting trained by
- 19:49liking my Quackenbush and then there was this other group of
- 19:51people who I came to know. No, were some of the originals
- 19:54of chakkar that also get trained by like, the Mike Quackenbush.
- 19:57So he taught us a bunch of stuff.
- 19:59He taught us some Lucha stuff and he prepared us for our first
- 20:03been in the match that we were just talking about the go back
- 20:05to. He's the one who taught us how
- 20:08to do that kind of style of wrestling and how to like really
- 20:11played the crowd and you know he has this whole way of teaching
- 20:14about like you got a crescendo and it's like you got to build a
- 20:17proton up and go the credit but boom and then bring it back
- 20:20down. Like he had that passion for the
- 20:22store. Ori of wrestling.
- 20:24And I think that's where a lot of us.
- 20:25Gotta teach you to be a teacher, The Forbidden Chikara special.
- 20:28No, because there was no Chikara, we might, we might have
- 20:32unknowingly, I don't like that story line.
- 20:40And I like to say that maybe we kind of want made him want to be
- 20:45a wrestling trainer, maybe we had some influence on that.
- 20:48I didn't read this book but he might like make half a sentence
- 20:51mention. I'm only half kidding here,
- 20:53maybe he did. Maybe he didn't, I don't know,
- 20:54maybe it had some influence suit.
- 20:56If you look at the Northeast scene, right?
- 20:58And you look at like the people who came out of here, and the
- 21:00people who worked here and like places, like, wxw and Chikara,
- 21:05and the sanctuary. And, and all these places,
- 21:08there's moments where they take. Um sales seriously.
- 21:10But then also you look a lot of the talent and you look at the
- 21:13ones who were like our bright spots as talent and they're also
- 21:15the ones who don't take themselves super seriously and
- 21:18they can do the corny stuff and the entertaining stuff.
- 21:20And and they're the ones who last the test of time.
- 21:23Because, you know, they're not always jumping off high things
- 21:26and breaking their bodies and doing crazy things, but they
- 21:28could because they can have a funny squash match or they can
- 21:30have a funny bit our skit or develop a character that's going
- 21:34to help them. Stay relevant for a while and
- 21:37and that's kind of the wrestling that like whether people To like
- 21:40it or not. And I know the old heads of the
- 21:42world at the cornets say they hate it, but you know what I
- 21:43mean? Like, but that's what is fun
- 21:46about the professional wrestling scene.
- 21:47Is so much of that came out of the Northeast area.
- 21:49You know what I mean? Like, every time I see breath,
- 21:52best friends on TV, or I see like stuff like that, you're
- 21:54like that that's like Northeast Wrestling all over.
- 21:58Like that's that's that came from our area, you know, it
- 22:00really did and even more so than some Pope people might know that
- 22:04are listening. So the best friends.
- 22:06Hey, orange, Cassidy name-drop. He was Part of a group that Roch
- 22:10brought into owner group. So it was him and lucky and
- 22:14Danny Dan Champion. Lucky 13.
- 22:16Like, they all almost wore my dad Champions her for this
- 22:20podcast, my old time going through my shirt and I was all
- 22:23my almost grabbed the damn Champion but I, the prince Ahmed
- 22:26was on top, amen. The dance Champions tie-dyed, so
- 22:29it just stands out in this. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:32I'm glad to see such a sweetheart and they're all great
- 22:35guys and that was the thing. It was like in a good He fed
- 22:40right now. You have to have a good locker
- 22:41room. We had a good locker room for
- 22:43the most part. There were some politics that
- 22:45happened. Of course not everybody in a
- 22:47group of 50 and 75 people's going to like each other.
- 22:49That's just not going to so you can just not going to happen.
- 22:52But for the most part everybody got along and it was just really
- 22:55cool after the fact to see these, you know, some you know
- 22:58to see the orange Cassidy on TV to see the former New Jersey,
- 23:02independent, All-Star, the former JC Rider, it was amazing
- 23:06and, you know, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and And tell the
- 23:10world this and maybe you shouldn't.
- 23:12Because I don't know somebody who hate me or whatever, but I
- 23:15have nothing to lose. I'm 43.
- 23:17And I'm here in this for whatever if you go and do a
- 23:22YouTube search for n. Aw backyard.
- 23:26You may find some gems in there when it comes to some of the
- 23:30current wrestling toilet here and from New Jersey, So, just
- 23:35saying, I thought, I want where, where are they searched this?
- 23:39So YouTube, you want to look at n?
- 23:41Aw, and and aw, yeah, so you'll find some interesting things if
- 23:46you dig for a little bit, but we originally me and a few folks,
- 23:52drove up to n. Aw, actually Rush told us that
- 23:55this was an indie fed that we are working with.
- 23:59And it was more backyard than what we were doing at the time,
- 24:02so we're just kind of like screw it, we'll do it anyway.
- 24:04I mean, we were in Grandma's backyard, there were, you know,
- 24:06seven fans, but we had fun and we really liked everybody there
- 24:11and so we brought them aboard. And yes.
- 24:14And Eric pain had says we are still family.
- 24:16Today, we're all family, all these people and talking about
- 24:19like we're, we're still connected.
- 24:21And that's the cool part. So, in case you want to know
- 24:25what happened. After that stuff, got shut down.
- 24:28I started to go. To do and he's now Raj hooked me
- 24:30up with, he had this teen icons concept.
- 24:32Like you guys are going to be you know, like Beverly Hills
- 24:3590210 meets wrestling and so it was me and Showtime, Sean
- 24:39Sheridan, can we got thrown right into it?
- 24:43So imagine doing this underground, be stuff.
- 24:46And then now you're being shipped off to Jersey wrestling.
- 24:50Some guy that looks like the Rock and he thinks, you know,
- 24:54nice guy. Ralph Soto was his name.
- 24:56I can't even find it by the way internet.
- 24:58Back then sucked. I can't find a record of this
- 25:00card anywhere. And then shipped off to Jersey
- 25:04championship wrestling and Jersey all pro wrestling.
- 25:07So back, then those are the big bigs.
- 25:09And I know JCW became gcw and all that stuff.
- 25:12But like to be on cards to be that close to almost Beyond
- 25:16cards with Bryan Danielson, with CM Punk because I was about a
- 25:20month away from that. When I quit, now I look back and
- 25:24go. What was I thinking?
- 25:26There's there's a match of troske rustling.
- 25:28Daniel Bryant. Yes, it closed down as the shit
- 25:31out of them. Yeah.
- 25:32Is around the same time, right? Around the Young Lions cup.
- 25:35I would have been in, or on the Young Lions Club Card, couple
- 25:39hard. Yeah.
- 25:40And by the way, I just want to do another plug for the a BJ
- 25:43podcast podcast, water bottle, get it at somewhere.
- 25:50I have, I have one of these free as well.
- 25:51Next show. Yes, beautiful.
- 25:54So, yeah, it was a wild ride and after all that Indie stuff
- 25:58happened. I hate it in D because again, it
- 26:00wasn't my family, that wasn't our thing that We're creating
- 26:03anymore. It was somebody else's stuff.
- 26:05There were sometimes, no reason people were fighting people and
- 26:08I was like, I'm done. I have no money.
- 26:10I can't keep traveling out. I need to do something different
- 26:13with my life and there were a few reincarnations after that of
- 26:16the whole valley seen didn't last long, they You Know, Rich
- 26:21Hao ran a couple different federation's.
- 26:23We're trying to figure out what they were all called, but he
- 26:25brought back a valley championship wrestling.
- 26:27At some point he brought back, I did pride of wrestling
- 26:31anthracite wrestling. They had, you know, Brodie Lee
- 26:33on one of their shows, which was pretty, pretty massive, right.
- 26:38It was just crazy times and then stepping away from wrestling for
- 26:41the longest time was, was was interesting.
- 26:43It was a complete life change. So once your stuffed away, what
- 26:47did you start doing? I do have in headfirst into my
- 26:51degree. So I went to college at ASU so
- 26:57in between VCW dying and then some of this other stuff trying
- 27:00to come back to trying to happen.
- 27:03I went to ASU for computer programming basically, and I had
- 27:07taken a couple years of that already at Penn State and then
- 27:10you've University of Scranton, but I was so into wrestling
- 27:13height H. So shitty at the universe is
- 27:15great. I think had a scholarship and I
- 27:16almost lost it. I did so bad.
- 27:17I didn't care. Like, I'm like, that's not what
- 27:19I want to do. I want to make VCW succeed So
- 27:22eventually I went back to school.
- 27:24I became the party guy. Is vice pres my fraternity.
- 27:27I met some of my best friends that I have today that aren't in
- 27:30wrestling whatsoever. And I partied and got a degree.
- 27:35And I got to the point where they wanted me to graduate.
- 27:37And I'm like, oh, hell no, I'm gonna graduate.
- 27:39Like, I like being here. Like, I've finally coming out of
- 27:42my shell. There is a shop.
- 27:44You Van Wilder you. Yes, I'm gonna be, I'm gonna be
- 27:46a 15-year kid from, amen. And so I graduated the cyber
- 27:51security degree because I wanted to stay one more semester.
- 27:54They're like, take a couple classes.
- 27:55You'll get a whole different degree and I'm like, great
- 27:57because I can, I don't want to program the rest of my life
- 27:59that's torture, like, chained me to a keyboard for, for two days,
- 28:02straight. And then I'm like, trying to
- 28:04make a dog hop on a screen or something, I'm like, no, that's
- 28:06definitely not for me. So cyber security Degree.
- 28:10Come back to northeast PA, get a couple jobs.
- 28:14I worked, I did cybersecurity for a warehouse like
- 28:16manufacturing company and music Pennsylvania.
- 28:20And then I got an interview with life insurance company in the
- 28:24Lehigh Valley. So, There I am.
- 28:26There goes my career, my everything became cyber cyber
- 28:29cyber security. So I worked my way up from
- 28:31entry-level, dude, all the way to.
- 28:34Now, I'm ahead of cyber security Assurance, which is a hacker
- 28:37team. So that's the last several
- 28:40fifth, almost 15 years of my life?
- 28:42Well, no wrestling now. Do you still like, watch the
- 28:46product, do you still follow the Indie scene, like of, see what
- 28:49people are doing? Or did you completely, like,
- 28:51wipe your mind from all rustling all together?
- 28:53So, when I went to school my home, Thing became my
- 28:58fraternity. So I tie jacked out of
- 29:01everything. I didn't see the the air that
- 29:03came after the Attitude Era in WWE.
- 29:05I don't know what happened ruthless aggression aggression.
- 29:08Yeah, I didn't watch that ECW came back and died.
- 29:12You know, through W bringing so didn't watch that.
- 29:15I didn't watch any wrestling then and I heard about things
- 29:17going on, I heard about scar. I heard about one of the other
- 29:20founders of extreme hardcore championship wrestling, Drew
- 29:24Matt Turner. I heard him going through the
- 29:27Ring of Honor Academy and getting to do some cool stuff.
- 29:29And I kind of watch from afar and I would get, you know,
- 29:31Grandma messages for people from time to time keeping me, you
- 29:34know, up to date and just really seeing things explode.
- 29:36So, I was like, really my really marked out for the things.
- 29:38My people were doing like totally marked out, but didn't
- 29:41pay attention to the rest for the longest time.
- 29:43So, yeah. And then I would a little bit
- 29:46like I almost get pulled in. Like, I'd get messages from like
- 29:49Danny, you know, I didn't get into it much but Dan and I were
- 29:52attacked, were also the teen icons.
- 29:54After me and shot Stitch fairness split up.
- 29:57Me and Dan, Dan would pay me. And I, when I moved to Lehigh
- 30:00Valley, they live across the bridge near Phillipsburg New
- 30:02Jersey, some of them. So it would be like, hey, come
- 30:05out with us and it turns out it was like Dan's birthday.
- 30:08He was out with, you know, obviously orange.
- 30:10Cassidy Eddie Kingston, Chuck Taylor.
- 30:13And I'm like, I had no idea who these guys were at that time.
- 30:17And if I did, I would have gone and I'm like shit there were
- 30:20times when they're paying me. Hey, come on, come trade, over
- 30:22to car and am done with wrestling guys, you know, I'm
- 30:25just I have a fiance now you know I'm trying to do this want
- 30:29you to walk in the door and like all those names and Claudio
- 30:32would have been there and Brody and I won't like this well maybe
- 30:37I wouldn't have because I wouldn't have known who they
- 30:39were who we just so weird when we write before well actually it
- 30:43was on this channel. Well every now and then we go
- 30:45back and review like an old show and we're I'm from like the
- 30:49Northeast area where it's more of a like the school County
- 30:52side. So the other side of mountain
- 30:54from us is like possible. So I'm in, I'm in the so
- 30:57possible sky. Like my hangout spot and there
- 30:59was Goodfellas, Goodfellas got club and they ran a check our
- 31:02show. And we watched the show that
- 31:04happened literally 15, 20 minutes from my house, that I
- 31:07didn't know existed at the time. And then you go back and you
- 31:09watch, you're like, holy shit, dude.
- 31:11Like all these people who are now on my TV wrestled in a
- 31:15building, that's 20 minutes from my house and I never knew it
- 31:19existed. Like that's why I'm telling
- 31:20people now like enjoy your independent wrestling seeing
- 31:23because you never know, you never know.
- 31:26It's crazy. Like I never I never realized
- 31:28like name-drop again. Like I'm just going back and try
- 31:30to figure out all my matches. And I was like, oh, we used to
- 31:33wrestle for this Federation called g b d.
- 31:35G b w out near Hanover, not Hanover near Wilkes-Barre.
- 31:38But hand over here, like asked Harrisburg, I'm like, Apollo
- 31:42Cruz was on the show. Jon, Moxley was on this other
- 31:45show, like, holy shit. Like who would have thought, you
- 31:48know, it's crazy. You never never never hang out
- 31:51with because with Dan champions ever, hang out with ultra - no,
- 31:54no, no. That's Guys, awesome.
- 31:56Hello Walter - black my coolest. My coolest hangout was the Iron.
- 32:01Sheik I know it that show. I mentioned were arrested the
- 32:04guy that looked like the rock Iron Sheik was there with the
- 32:07six-pack of Budweiser and weed sitting outside the door and
- 32:10just like smoking and telling stories that may seem happy.
- 32:15Yeah, I mean, surreal, surreal, but that's, that's the thing.
- 32:19You're, you don't know who you're standing next to Across
- 32:21the ring from in the locker room.
- 32:23Next to just bullshitting with backstage for the you A couple
- 32:26hours it takes to get I show when you're not my craziest
- 32:29wrestling moment is we're good word hamburg for the legends of
- 32:33icons festival and we get there early and I'm nervous because
- 32:37it's like some still early into like having like I think it's my
- 32:39first con that I never a part of and right before the show for my
- 32:44anxiety, I go. And I take a couple whacks will
- 32:48say, and I go in, I'm like, hi, I'm Schell.
- 32:50I'm calm, and I'm sitting there and we're setting up our table
- 32:53and I get a pat on the butt. Like someone's passed me on the
- 32:57butt and I'm like, what's up, baby?
- 32:58How you doing? And I go.
- 33:00My turn Jimmy Hart, just turn it off, and it just stops and has a
- 33:04full conversation with me. Like, we've been best friends
- 33:06for 15 years and then he walks away.
- 33:08And I look at my friend Brian. I'm like that, that, that just
- 33:11happened that, like, Jimmy hard to stop.
- 33:13Like, like those moments. Like, you try to be like I'm in
- 33:16the business now, but then you meet like someone you watch
- 33:18since you're a kid and you're like that, that's crazy.
- 33:21Like it's just, I don't know. It's neat.
- 33:22It's a fun business man. Okay, it certainly is and I'll
- 33:26tell you what. And, since we're getting into
- 33:28the business, The reasons I had to come back to wrestling was
- 33:33good. You know, I wanted to help out
- 33:35rocks and I definitely wanted to be involved.
- 33:37Somehow cybersecurity could take a lot out of you from a mental
- 33:41health perspective, all you're doing is solving difficult
- 33:44problems, all day. Trying to figure out ways to do
- 33:48things with very little people because the, you know, those Bad
- 33:51actors. The attackers hack stuff.
- 33:53They have so much money and time they have their own
- 33:55corporations. Meanwhile, you have your little
- 33:57rinky-dink team that's just coming up.
- 33:58Trying to learn cyber security. And on the fly to defend all
- 34:02this stuff and it takes everything out of you.
- 34:04So, you know, I got to a point from a mental health perspective
- 34:07where I couldn't get out of the Matrix ever.
- 34:11So I'm like, I need to slowly distance myself from this and do
- 34:14something different. And the second thing that kind
- 34:17of brought me back into it all. And, you know, again, all of
- 34:20those things we've talked about, super super exciting, but it's
- 34:23this. What the hell is that?
- 34:25John Wright covid. So, I got covid over two years.
- 34:30Years ago. And when I did it wiped out my
- 34:32smell and taste, and then a few months later, it distorted my
- 34:35smell and taste, and it's never come back.
- 34:38So what I have to smell these essential oils sticks multiple
- 34:41times a day. This is what I wear when I eat.
- 34:44So if you see me this is why I don't eat public usually because
- 34:47they look like a clown and I know I should be myself up like
- 34:50that. I get it.
- 34:50But yeah, it's really hard. So I've got this like weird
- 34:53disability that disconnect me from people.
- 34:55So now as I'm reclaiming my life from cybersecurity, I can't be a
- 34:58normal person again and wrestling gives me a way to kind
- 35:01of be normal to connect with people and it not have to be,
- 35:05you know, excluding myself at a corner to eat.
- 35:07Or just make me feel weird, like and the wrestling locker rooms
- 35:11are so accepting. They don't care who you are,
- 35:13what background? You're from.
- 35:14A lot of the folks you meet are just like, yeah, we're in this
- 35:17together. We're all just a bunch of little
- 35:18kids inside and we're just gonna have fun dude, and like to be
- 35:21able to come back into that and survive, you know, Corporate
- 35:25America for 15 years survive, you know, be able to shift from
- 35:28focusing on my disability. What I can't have you're
- 35:30focusing on. The present has been so
- 35:32therapeutic for me, like just insanely therapeutic.
- 35:35We have, we have a little bit of Common Ground here.
- 35:37So I also have a disability. I have II bought doesn't produce
- 35:41collagen, so I have that's called EDS ehlers-danlos
- 35:45syndrome. So I'm extremely hyper mobile
- 35:48have hypermobility and I dislocate.
- 35:50And I have really bad arthritis, and joint pain and all that
- 35:53stuff, real. And I was diagnosed at 13 and
- 35:56all I knew growing up with sports and athletes and
- 35:58wrestling and basketball and soccer.
- 36:01And as I got older, it just I just started fading away so
- 36:04podcasting Essentially led to me getting away from using my body
- 36:09and using my mind in my voice and that led me to professional
- 36:12wrestling. But wrestling, the once again,
- 36:13isn't as an Avenue where I was obsessed with as a kid and I
- 36:16would love to get in there and do things but I can't but
- 36:19because it's so exacting accepting and there's so many
- 36:21roles you can do within the professional wrestling world.
- 36:24I can sit at commentary, I can sit and ring a bell.
- 36:26I can be backstage and interview.
- 36:28Somebody I can sit on a podcast and talk to Talent which I agree
- 36:32with you man. Like and especially this this
- 36:34570 Northeast Wrestling family, man.
- 36:36Like I I'm fortunate within a year and a half.
- 36:40I've got the travel three different states and work for
- 36:42probably six or seven to eight different companies.
- 36:45But man, there's something about this area.
- 36:47We're like we're I know an Eric and a brat are going to be.
- 36:51There are a Pete are a rush or you know, an Alex watt or a kit
- 36:57Raph are an AJ Evers or I can go on and on and on and on if I
- 37:01know they're in the locker room, that's like going to a family
- 37:04reunions. You want to be at you don't
- 37:05know. Like and it's so welcoming
- 37:07because everyone loves you and everyone wants you to be there
- 37:10and and it's more than just like the fans out in the crowd or are
- 37:13there for a wrestling show. But we're also there to
- 37:16entertain, but like, we feel like a team going out and doing
- 37:19it, and that's just an environment.
- 37:20I've it's hard to replicate in different wrestling companies
- 37:23and different locker rooms. Yeah, I mean, that's that's why
- 37:26we do it and my fiance Lindsay. She, she helps out a lot and
- 37:30with smash Master, she's helping me with production but she's
- 37:32also, you know, she hopes the chief we call it the Chief
- 37:35Financial Officer. She, she takes the tickets and
- 37:37make sure that, you know, everybody gets their money Rush
- 37:40gets his money. She's kind of like did not
- 37:43realize what this was like behind the scenes nobody does
- 37:45and it's easy to get addicted to it.
- 37:47You realize you're entering a family like with no pretenses.
- 37:50Whether you have 85 years of experience, he come from the
- 37:53backyard, your training, you're not training, you're just
- 37:55learning. Everybody's trying to be
- 37:57something and just have fun and its really supportive than I saw
- 38:00that immediately would backstage at smash Master, like the
- 38:03culture I mentioned culture, it's insane.
- 38:06It's insane. No we don't we can't afford to
- 38:08pay orange Cassidy to come in you know?
- 38:11And you know wrestler we can't we can't bring on folks like ppw
- 38:15do we just don't have that or ppw or even it would often
- 38:18Juniors doing now. They have they have connections
- 38:20that we don't have that money we don't have you know.
- 38:23So what's really really critical is that we have the passion
- 38:27together and everybody everybody in the back wants this to
- 38:30succeed and just that got infectious to and I'm like, yes
- 38:33Rajesh, I'll help you out every single way I can.
- 38:36I want to help everybody out and it's just me.
- 38:39I won't buy this from us standpoint.
- 38:41It might get me my get me he that might not but I've worked
- 38:44for those companies and I've worked and I've been backstage
- 38:46at those companies and they're great.
- 38:48And I loved I loved the opportunities.
- 38:49They gave me. Oh, he just got disconnected for
- 38:52a second. Your can't your microphone or
- 38:55camera? Just shut up.
- 38:57Let's see. Can you hear me?
- 39:00I'll will remove them till they pass back on.
- 39:04I'm not sure if the camera so hold my thought but guys real
- 39:06quick while I'm killing time here till he pops back on.
- 39:09Yeah dude. Check the links below.
- 39:10Make sure you support myself as well as my guest.

- 40:00So you can, you can check them out.
- 40:02We are currently at 225 subscribers on the quest to 1 K.
- 40:06So definitely those would really help out.
- 40:08I think he's back. Am I back?
- 40:10And yes, we hear you know who what happened guys, win as well
- 40:15cybersecurity. They are trying to take down the
- 40:17a BJ podcast. Yeah.
- 40:19I must be given away like Secrets or something.
- 40:21They're monitoring a man. Yeah.
- 40:23Yeah. But what I was gonna say before
- 40:24and this is no hate Teddy. Those companies.
- 40:26I appreciate all the support and love.
- 40:27They've given me when I was backstage and stuff.
- 40:29I do for those companies but you know, sometimes those companies
- 40:33guys just are there for their check you know.
- 40:36And that's that's clear and apparent and if they don't get
- 40:38the check they don't come back and there's nothing wrong with
- 40:40At either cause you know sometimes getting paid and
- 40:43coming to work for a promotion is one thing.
- 40:45But I've also worked at promotions where everybody walks
- 40:48in with the same thing. They would they let everybody
- 40:50walks out with the same thing. They walked in with, but it's
- 40:53just a general passion of making art with your friends and being
- 40:56part of a locker room and being like, hey, we enjoy this this
- 40:59profession, and we love this business, but we also have the
- 41:02same common interest of making where we are right now, bigger
- 41:05than what it is. So it's one thing to come in and
- 41:08take a paycheck to work for a company.
- 41:10But it's also another thing to walk into a company and be like,
- 41:13I'm working for this company to try to make this something this
- 41:16company. Something bigger, you know what
- 41:18I mean? And that's and honestly, that's
- 41:20how your your ecw's have Rose. That's how your gcw is have
- 41:24Rose. That's how your czw is, have
- 41:26rows. And your shekhar has because
- 41:27everyone who is part of that locker room was a part of that
- 41:31locker room and they took pride in that locker room and they
- 41:33made that locker room, something bigger than it was.
- 41:36And it wasn't someone just walking in the door.
- 41:38Hey, can I get my envelope? I'm going to go do a match and
- 41:40I'm out of here. And that's a difference.
- 41:42That's the clear difference between a lot of locker rooms.
- 41:44Yeah, I always thought like what advice would I give younger
- 41:47folks looking to get into it. Don't do it for the money.
- 41:50Don't think there's ever going to be money there?
- 41:53I think the most I've ever gotten paid was like 10 bucks,
- 41:56like that's vacuum 2002. That was a lot.
- 42:00We're gonna pay it. I was like, are you sure?
- 42:01Yeah, look at him. He's got animal 10.
- 42:04Shiny 10 got a whole shiny nickel was great.
- 42:08So here's what I want to do the podcast, I think, if I The
- 42:10things you can hashtag the right.
- 42:12So if I say Joe Rogan, you can do hashtag Joe Rogan.
- 42:14I think so. Yeah, maybe has a little
- 42:16broccoli, Mighty wall. No, yeah, orange Cassie, he WWE,
- 42:20right. What else can I say?
- 42:21Covid. We talked about my disability as
- 42:23a result of code, but you could hashtag covid, Oru slowly
- 42:27getting any of that back. Or what is like how does that
- 42:29come about? So it's just different
- 42:32distortions. So, nothing tastes normal,
- 42:36period, not a thing, click coffee and And poop have the
- 42:42same smell to me and neither it doesn't smell like coffee or
- 42:46poop. Okay.
- 42:47So imagine that. But everything like anything
- 42:51you're about to have is actually a benefit for being at wrestling
- 42:54shows. The sometimes I almost got
- 42:55healed commentary because sometimes those stinkin fans.
- 42:58Now tell our people don't wash their gear.
- 43:01Yeah, well you don't know what character character, can't you
- 43:05give you ever wrestling character who can't smell.
- 43:07So they put you against like, Dirtbag, Dan.
- 43:09And you remove the dirt bag down.
- 43:10And because you can't smell them.
- 43:12Give Russia any ideas for the next Christmas show.
- 43:15Okay. Cuz I have enough gimmicks, I
- 43:17don't need, I don't know. Yeah, I mean, get to go back to
- 43:23the wrestling such Community. If you could be involved, get
- 43:25involved. That's one thing I always say.
- 43:27And for all those fans out there, people watching this
- 43:29podcast goat. Well I don't, I'm not a
- 43:32wrestling fan. Yeah.
- 43:33But do you watch action movies? Do you like Broadway?
- 43:37It's all of that stuff. But like, a looking for a group
- 43:39of friends because you have You don't have a friend.
- 43:42It could be that easy. Can you, can you make graphics?
- 43:45Can you help make graphics on a poster?
- 43:47Can you hold a camera? Can you collect a ticket?
- 43:50Can you, there's so much you can do, and I promise you, if you
- 43:53get in the door doing those things, you're going to meet a
- 43:56culture of people. You're going to love and cherish
- 43:58for the rest of your life. Amen.
- 44:00Amen. And you know what?
- 44:02It was, it silly of Dante, corny movie.
- 44:05Once I thought I was out, they pulled me back in and that's it.
- 44:09You know everyone says I'll Rush Billy.
- 44:11Hey, are you doing anything here with this?
- 44:13And that Sanctuary to Mike. I'm not a wrestler anymore, but
- 44:16I'm rusted out again. So I guess you don't, you don't
- 44:19stop learning how to ride bikes, right?
- 44:21But everybody who can go to a wrestling show, a local One
- 44:23support right there Mom. You know, they're your mom and
- 44:26pop businesses WWE. I saw NXT mentioned, they've got
- 44:30so big, such huge budgets. They have a lot of choices.
- 44:32They have a lot of options, we're just kind of limited by
- 44:36every and he's kind of Livin by just trying to get to the next
- 44:38show. Trying to figure out how to get
- 44:40enough. Make it to the next show in the
- 44:41next show in the next show so we can all keep living our dreams.
- 44:44Yeah, so XT and XT is essentially picked clean from
- 44:47roh. Roh is essentially picked clean
- 44:49from Northeast Wrestling scene, who all came from the
- 44:52Independent wrestling backyard areas, you know?
- 44:54I mean and it's we're going to keep feeding them.
- 44:57Yeah, maybe Jane. We're going to keep feeding
- 44:58them, we got them up coming up like crazy.
- 45:00Like, when I saw what I write here, here's your prince Ahmed.
- 45:06What? I mean, I met him backstage.
- 45:09Couldn't be nicer guy. Wild man in the ring just
- 45:12completely Innovative does. You know, I remember might have
- 45:15been on your podcast. I heard it.
- 45:16He just invented a move out of nowhere on the fly.
- 45:19Like yes, that stuff is what I'm here for those artists, right?
- 45:24A mighty met backstage, really good.
- 45:27Dude. He's a dad, you know, he's a
- 45:29firefighter and he's a wild man in the ring like this.
- 45:33This is the guy. If you want to watch anybody
- 45:34coming up one of the one of the talent I shouldn't say guy
- 45:38because there's a lot of girls that are coming up in that
- 45:40order. Early in northeast PA wrestling
- 45:42that are going to be something severe.
- 45:43But a mighty, he's going to be something big, keep your eye on
- 45:46him. It, I'm excited for him.
- 45:47Verse kit, that's a mobile over again.
- 45:50That smash Master 40th, birthday party a mighty Rivers kit.
- 45:54MIT just put on a really good match recently to with that
- 45:56no-good dirty rotten. Scum bag.
- 45:58Ricky price. Hate that kid.
- 46:01Another local Thai wasn't wearing a shirt last podcast.
- 46:04It was a glitch. He hacked into my camera and put
- 46:07it on. I was wearing something
- 46:08completely different. That's amazing.
- 46:10Hey Ricky price. We're looking for some good
- 46:12hackers for hire so it my dams, but yeah.
- 46:18So and you also yourself have a little bit of a content creator
- 46:21yourself as now. Well as well now as I don't know
- 46:25what I'm trying to say. I don't freakin truck talking
- 46:27you're a content creator correct kind of yeah I mean this goes
- 46:31back to When Brad de Mayo Bruno de Mayo, Bruno, Serafini
- 46:37serafall of his gimmicks that he's gone through over the time.
- 46:40Yeah. Had this kind of Taz version of
- 46:42his character and we took a kiss song and I remixed, it cut it up
- 46:46and kind of took up all the kiss parts and kept the guitars and
- 46:49stuff. So I was able to kind of just
- 46:51hack together stuff, I'm in DIY guy so I don't I don't have the
- 46:55attention span of a fly. If I use a watch a YouTube video
- 46:58on how to do something I'm done in 3 seconds, I can't do it.
- 47:01So figured out how to do that myself, I'm figuring out how to
- 47:04use the YouTube or the the histogram reels and stuff now
- 47:08just to get content out there and I like being a from the
- 47:11camera. I've I've had a camera since I
- 47:12was like 10 years old, my grandmother bought me a camera
- 47:15and I've always been in front of the camera.
- 47:16So I'm like, I'm gonna do some stuff and I don't know if
- 47:20anybody watches or doesn't and frankly it's you know no
- 47:23offense. Everybody that watches thank you
- 47:24but I don't care. I do it for me.
- 47:26I do it for me for fun. I'm in that same boat.
- 47:29I mean I definitely want to strive and make this something
- 47:31but I also said like I want to make this community so I can
- 47:34then take my community and feed it in something else.
- 47:36So if I can get a couple thousand subscribers and they're
- 47:39all over the world and they Go and subscribe to a YouTube
- 47:42channel that I do commentary for a company.
- 47:44I pride myself in and helps them get some views and people fall
- 47:47in love with the same people. I'm watching every weekend.
- 47:49That's my goal to grow my brand. That's awesome.
- 47:52I'm glad you have goals. I don't know what that's like,
- 47:53man. I just wing it.
- 47:55I will I have goals but I wing it while I get there.
- 47:58I'm definitely like even the wrestling business when someone
- 48:00first came to me like hey can you do this?
- 48:02And I was like, yeah, man, Donald time and then I do it,
- 48:05they're like yo man, how long you been doing it?
- 48:07Oh, that was my second time ever trying that.
- 48:11Yeah. Like why do you tell someone?
- 48:13Because you wouldn't let me do it.
- 48:14If I told you it was my first time even though now low in the
- 48:17wrestling business, they definitely would have because
- 48:18they didn't have anybody else for that spot.
- 48:20But but yeah, so where can people like, what type of
- 48:24content do you make? Like, what do you what do you
- 48:25do? So right now it's just kind of
- 48:28promotional stuff for JS Michaels.
- 48:30So right now it's kind of like promos a little bit promos a
- 48:34little bit of like just quick here's which is Michaels is
- 48:38thinking about this upcoming match.
- 48:39Not that I have a bunch of matches.
- 48:40I have Hope calendar. And I'm not looking to fill it.
- 48:42That's what I always say. I don't mind wrestling, but
- 48:45enough to wrestle full-time, I'm old.
- 48:48And at some point I might get hurt even though you know keep
- 48:51in shape and stuff. I don't got to pay the bills
- 48:53first and foremost. So yeah.
- 48:56But I like just to put together stupid stuff, stupid shit like
- 48:58jazz Michaels is an idiot. He is probably a modern
- 49:02combination of list of Jericho Jericho.
- 49:05Seth Rollins probably with a little bit of La night.
- 49:10Mixed in a little bit of Dolph Ziggler like he's just a dumb
- 49:13ass, you know. And that's all I supposed to be
- 49:16and that's okay. And he's gonna have fun but then
- 49:19you know I said I'm going to create another character, I'm
- 49:20going to do you know something that's near and dear to my heart
- 49:23since I was, I don't know, probably 10 years older.
- 49:25So I had a cousin named Jody and she was into the hair bands,
- 49:29well, into the 90s, but they weren't around anymore and they
- 49:32were kind of like hair metal, love it.
- 49:34Yeah. So she actually is a good friend
- 49:37of Bret, Michaels for poison, which I came to find out and I
- 49:39was so fucking Happy. When I found that I'm like you
- 49:41can't I can't believe it but I spent Summers with her and
- 49:44really love the hair rent then. So that's part of me just like
- 49:48jazz Michaels is part of me. It's not a character part of me.
- 49:51Well, Johnny Rocket is this New Concept?
- 49:53I'm working on. I got this ridiculous hair band
- 49:56wig and I do this like, really bad English accent and I am, you
- 50:01know, Johnny Rockets right? I want to wrestle.
- 50:04It's a face as Johnny Rocket, right?
- 50:06So I want to Glam Rock might need a partner.
- 50:08That's what I was thinking. Yeah.
- 50:10Show me your rocket but I think I think that stuff is fun just
- 50:13being able to play a character because like even at work,
- 50:16there's there's so many rules as to how you can behave in a
- 50:19corporate environment and the company I work for.
- 50:22Yeah, there's not as many rules nowadays.
- 50:25Like, you can be yourself. You just have those corporate
- 50:27confines? This is my art.
- 50:29I can do whatever the hell I want, right?
- 50:31If I want to create another, can another character on top of
- 50:33that? I give you that, it doesn't
- 50:34matter. There's nobody to tell me, I
- 50:35can't, bro. If I ain't how every Trend and
- 50:38style comes back. And right now, we're kind of in
- 50:40that. The 90s early 2000s are coming
- 50:42back. Like in everyone's into that.
- 50:44Like I just I want to I want to get skinny again right.
- 50:47I'd never I still kind of wear skinny jeans, a little bit.
- 50:49I can't get rid of them but like if like dial at ourselves come
- 50:52back and I can make my long hair 80s style and I can.
- 50:55And I mean like I would 100% revert back to what hair battle
- 50:58guy, never even lived in that era.
- 51:00I just love that look like Steel Panther and Motley Crue.
- 51:04And like, all those bands that came like the hair metal band.
- 51:06I love them. Love them.
- 51:07Van Halen like all that stuff. Yeah and look.
- 51:10I mean, I'm such a big fan of the 90s and early 2000s and
- 51:14really the the whole 911 situation sent the country in
- 51:17total different direction for so long.
- 51:18Like it's so refreshing, we can come back and just start to
- 51:22really enjoy life and just rock out, right?
- 51:25So and then I mentioned, JS Michaels, he's an extension, my
- 51:28character to that, I can't be at work or in the real world.
- 51:31He's easier early version of troll, right?
- 51:34He's not going to slap the fans hands, right?
- 51:37And he's going to do stupid shit like over-the-top Battle.
- 51:40Royal. I got to Jet them such as
- 51:42Michaels, he got to pin Falls in an over-the-top Battle.
- 51:44Royal who else can say that? Besides the experience Jas
- 51:49Michael's, right? I like when they have battle
- 51:52royales, when you can Pinterest emitted a vendor, I think
- 51:54they're entertaining monster men try to do with the yoga Zumba
- 51:58and then got thrown out on monster man is historically, the
- 52:00worst guy in a Royal Rumble of all time.
- 52:02He's just terrible at it. He's terrible error.
- 52:05One of the greatest wrestlers, what war?
- 52:06He's the worst that rumbles? Yeah, anything else?
- 52:10I mean, Getting close to the end here.
- 52:11If anyone is watching live and you have any questions, anything
- 52:14you want to add in there? Please, please, please put him
- 52:16out there and I'll kind of give you guys and I'll let you be
- 52:20part of this as well. They'll run down.
- 52:23So, right now we have you on the next.
- 52:26On this Thursday, I'm going to be 2 into interviews, back to
- 52:28back with Philly, Mike Swanson at 3:00 and then at 5:00, Riley
- 52:32Crow. Now then then on Sunday will be
- 52:35Angel Metro. Then on Valentine's Day, I'll be
- 52:39eating some chocolates and Having my dinner date with Alex
- 52:42watt. The following Thursday will be
- 52:45with Paige, then I'll have the boys from Welcome Back, podcast
- 52:49on. Then we'll be ending the month
- 52:51with Shelby, and then the very end of the month will be the one
- 52:54and only Edina steel. So, very very exciting month.
- 52:57A lot of our good friends, on this podcast, the entire month
- 53:01of March booked. I have in all of March is good
- 53:05to go. I have everyone booked we're
- 53:07still doing two a week for the month of March April.
- 53:10Is still open but I'm not sure yet.
- 53:12If I'm going to do two a week in April or if I'm going to dial it
- 53:15back to 11 a month on that. But we're already in the chat.
- 53:20Not really a question more of a statement.
- 53:21Shelby water says, I'm excited to beat you up on Saturday, not
- 53:25a chance Waters. You see, she comes across as
- 53:28this like, cool surfer, chick type thing, guess what?
- 53:32Shelly Waters is actually a heel in Disguise.
- 53:34I've seen her distracting referees.
- 53:37I see the attitude there. She's going to try to cheat to
- 53:39win and I'm gonna Do whatever I can to stop that from happening.
- 53:42We're going to take her surfboard, throw it in the back,
- 53:45and if she's gonna be chasing it backstage, she won't even have a
- 53:47chance to enter the match. I'm not JS.
- 53:49Michaels is not worried about Shelby Waters.
- 53:52I actually made a prediction during a Shelby Waters match
- 53:55site, you know. So every now and then, I like to
- 53:57throw a little quirks in there to mess with people on
- 53:59commentary. And I knew a few people were
- 54:01watching that were will just say right wing leaning politicians.
- 54:07So, when she came out, she had all the blue like, lights behind
- 54:09her, and she's the blue. Ooh, waves shall be Waters and I
- 54:12said the Blue Wave is going to be taken over in a couple of
- 54:14weeks and then they actually did like like the final Runway of
- 54:19never happened and I was like that's because she'll be water,
- 54:21is one of them and I think it was like her first win to on in
- 54:25the ring is sanctuary. So it's pretty funny Hunter said
- 54:28if you can give any piece of advice to a young JS, Michaels
- 54:33believe in yourself kid, nobody believed in me that was part of
- 54:37why I stopped wrestling to begin with.
- 54:39I didn't have Somebody to tell me keep going, that was like an
- 54:43experienced person. People be like, yeah, you're
- 54:45pretty good and all the subsets like, in my echo chamber, but my
- 54:48fam was like, what the hell are you doing?
- 54:50You know, I dated girls who's, you know, families and friends
- 54:52made fun of me for doing this. So I got pushed out because
- 54:55nobody could leave, but I would have said you can do it, then
- 54:58you can do it. Keep going.
- 55:00Keep going. You got this.
- 55:02You're okay. Yeah.
- 55:03And don't really listen to your house like if you have your
- 55:06tribe of people and it's not something that everybody else is
- 55:09into, if it's I heard anybody who cares what other people
- 55:12think like, yeah, you're not going to sit there and tell me,
- 55:15not one person in their memory and their lifetime.
- 55:17At one point in time, was not a pro wrestling fan, and if you
- 55:20tell me, you weren't you're a liar.
- 55:21And if you tell me, you don't like professional wrestling, but
- 55:23you do like other things, I'm going to say, oh, what about,
- 55:27what do you like? I like MMA.
- 55:28Oh yeah. What some of your favorite?
- 55:30I love Conor McGregor. Oh, you mean the guy who's
- 55:32trying to be Ric Flair? Okay, tell me how you don't like
- 55:34pro wrestling. Yeah, you know it's fake.
- 55:37Its fake. I'm a professional wrestler, guy
- 55:43makes a sack or they do something.
- 55:45What do they reference pro wrestling?
- 55:47It's part of its more in pop culture than people think it is.
- 55:51It's more intertwined in our world and it's, and it's the
- 55:53most honestly you want to sit there and brag about baseball
- 55:56and basketball. Pro wrestling is the most
- 55:59American thing ever created and it's the only thing that has
- 56:02transitioned from America to other parts of the world and was
- 56:05adopted by the entire world. Yeah, and the other thing I
- 56:09would say is everybody, you know, this goes out every at
- 56:12that, find your own group of people that will support your
- 56:14dreams. Yeah, don't worry about the
- 56:16rest, right? Don't worry about the haters,
- 56:19they're hating because they're jealous or because they have
- 56:21their own insecurities. Don't worry about find yourself
- 56:24a diamond City War Machine. Find yourself up here along,
- 56:27find yourself a rash, like find people who are, who are, you
- 56:31know, it does help that they're from the 570 but find people who
- 56:33are literally like that, they're going to tell you when you're
- 56:36wrong, but also lift. Up when you need it and tell you
- 56:38when you're doing the right thing as well.
- 56:39And that really helps. And that's why I'm very thankful
- 56:42of being part of the 570 and being part of this family.
- 56:45And this and this group and meeting you man, I'm we met at
- 56:47like to miss smash master show and here we are Chillin.
- 56:50Now we're going to bars and stuff together.
- 56:52It's a good time. Absolutely.
- 56:53And I promise, we talk about non wrestling stuff when we did
- 56:55that. So I want to get more people to
- 56:57watch because this is not just a show about wrestling a podcast.
- 57:00About rest of this about life, this is about stories.
- 57:03This is what I'm watching. People live their dreams and
- 57:05figuring out the nuances of To wear clip and just all the
- 57:09things you would never know about people.
- 57:11This isn't podcasting, you know, General going to drop again.
- 57:14I learned about people on Joe Rogan podcast.
- 57:16I wouldn't normally ever meet you're gonna meet so many
- 57:18diverse people on here, doing different things, you mentioned
- 57:21page. Stop wrestler, page is a
- 57:25phenomenal photographer, right? But you have so much to learn
- 57:28about her journey. Please tune in watch.
- 57:31Don't just some of you might have joined because I look, it's
- 57:34John right? I know him from this.
- 57:35This is that watch them all. Listen.
- 57:37To the mall like follow subscribe.
- 57:39I know. I sound like a commercial to do
- 57:41it. I mean, you need to learn about
- 57:42people that aren't like, yourselves opening behind my
- 57:45first interview was at was an independent heart.
- 57:47Like he is a guy from our area who made his own independent
- 57:49horror movie, that was banned all over the world because of
- 57:52the occur due to the violence that was in it.
- 57:55I interviewed a guy who tours all over the world as a drummer
- 57:58in a band, like, I'm down to interview anybody.
- 58:00I have had some people hit me up in the links, it's just, I'm so
- 58:03intertwined in the wrestling Community.
- 58:04That's where a lot of my guests come from, and we do
- 58:06intertwined. Wrestling.
- 58:07But like you said it's people so it's storytelling.
- 58:10It's learning about people in general.
- 58:12Actually, you know what? While you're here, we do have a
- 58:14couple minutes, do you want do you want a little sneak peek of
- 58:16March, let's hear it. All right.
- 58:19So March 1st episode, boom Harden.
- 58:22Right now, he's in a tag team with the Sean Pratt, which is
- 58:25another person I want to get on this podcast so bad.
- 58:27I love to Sean. Then it's going to be some, we
- 58:29talked about on this episode, a mighty will be on the podcast
- 58:33and in March, then we'll be having the one and only the most
- 58:37entertaining. Painting, dirty scumbag in the
- 58:39professional wrestling world, Tommy Vex will be on podcast,
- 58:43Jaden steal Mike's Kairos. Then we have back-to-back not
- 58:48together, but separate probably the Hawaii would say who the
- 58:52people have taken me under their wing.
- 58:53So much in this independent wrestling, professional
- 58:55wrestling World, Eric pin hat on the 21st, and then, Brad de Mayo
- 58:58on the 23rd Nathaniel cutting Ham on the 28th and then I'm
- 59:02ending the month. I'm like Iran in this month.
- 59:04Ending it with the queen of Dana but now I'm ending.
- 59:07Works with another queen and that's Mary Beth is awesome.
- 59:11And it's an awesome lineup and you're getting a good mix of
- 59:14talent from all from all over the place, he gets him smash
- 59:16Master folks but also folks are up and coming from different
- 59:19areas to really tell their stories.
- 59:20So and what you're going to do, folks listeners, you're going to
- 59:23fall in love with some of these people.
- 59:24And then, you're going to want to go to wrestling shows because
- 59:26you want to see what that's all about.
- 59:27Like, I just met the person. What is the wrestler like, what
- 59:30are they doing in the ring? What are they dressed?
- 59:31Like so, and very things that then you're not going to
- 59:34experience at that. Your you at our other shows that
- 59:36we go. To that, you wouldn't have some
- 59:38other ones is these rustles come out from the back, and they will
- 59:41come talk to you the kids and they will interact and they will
- 59:43be part of it. And even if they don't have
- 59:45merged to sell, they still come out and say hi to everybody.
- 59:47You know what I mean? Like it's not like the WB when
- 59:49you sit in your seat you watch them come to the ring.
- 59:51They go to the back you never see them ever again.
- 59:53It's a very personal experience and you're going to have a blast
- 59:57and support supporting independent wrestling wherever
- 1:00:00wherever you are just starts to show us coming up.
- 1:00:02I guarantee you'll go and it's not like it was and I'm not
- 1:00:05trying to throw shade but it well it's not like it was Back
- 1:00:07in the day where people were still kind of figure things out
- 1:00:10these people who are going through the training and doing
- 1:00:12everything. They're doing now are on a
- 1:00:13completely different level of professional wrestling, and
- 1:00:16they're so entertaining in their athletic and and it's such a
- 1:00:19good mix of the old school meeting with the new school.
- 1:00:21That's what you're going to get at this northeast Silo where
- 1:00:23you're going to get these old-school, guys, working with a
- 1:00:25new school, guys. And they put together these,
- 1:00:28these beautiful works of art and the best way I can describe it.
- 1:00:31But JS, thank you so much again for coming on the podcast.
- 1:00:35I appreciate you. My guy, I cannot wait to see.

- 1:01:07It's come out and see a live. I'll be on commentary as well as
- 1:01:09my buddy BP Burke and it's going to be a blast anything in
- 1:01:13closing. But anything else you want to
- 1:01:14plug? Our get out there.
- 1:01:15Just want to say like follow subscribe any Indy Talent
- 1:01:19wrestling talent that wants advice again, you know, my story
- 1:01:22now. So I'm gonna have a certain
- 1:01:24Viewpoint happy to help happy to help Fitness Nutrition
- 1:01:27character. I love character-building happy
- 1:01:29to help there. And then again come out this
- 1:01:32Saturday so the Edina steel Philly, Mike benefit show I will
- 1:01:36be wrestling jazz. Michaels will be wrestling.
- 1:01:39What? He's considered?
- 1:01:39Six snowflakes. So if you add all their ages up,
- 1:01:42it's probably not as old as me but I hopefully am not going to
- 1:01:44come out, you know, wheel in my way in a walker.
- 1:01:47But that said come out to the show if there's so many matches
- 1:01:50with so much different Talent up-and-coming old school and
- 1:01:54also like follow subscribe, I keep saying it.
- 1:01:56I know. But come on.
- 1:01:57Do it for me right now or I'm not leaving this podcast.
- 1:01:59Like follow subscribe, like follow subscribe.
- 1:02:01You see the rocks of the one from 90210 theme again.
- 1:02:06What you gonna book me for you? Maybe a teen icon again and you
- 1:02:08can call me a teen anymore. Rashi a little bit old for that
- 1:02:11but I'll try anyway. A BJ.
- 1:02:13Thank you so much. Best of luck with your podcast.
- 1:02:16Hopefully, I'll come back sometime in the future talking
- 1:02:19about some other random bag of someone's life.
- 1:02:21Doors, always open brother. It's always over.
- 1:02:23I haven't booked my first return guest yet, but I'm sure I'm sure
- 1:02:26they'll start coming soon. Yeah, because at least before
- 1:02:28I'm 60, that would be great. So you know, that's only 10
- 1:02:31years from now or whatever, but, and all good.
- 1:02:34A DJ and all an old icon Hey, I'm probably better at things.
- 1:02:41Get finer with age, right, I'm probably better today than I was
- 1:02:4420 years ago. I don't know how, but I'm sure
- 1:02:46it's true. If you are watching on Facebook
- 1:02:49or twitch, please click this link here.
- 1:02:51This will take you. I don't watch it.
- 1:02:52Not go up on Facebook. This will take you to the
- 1:02:54YouTube channel so you can subscribe and hit those likes.
- 1:02:57It helps out so much. Once again, I know I sound like
- 1:03:01a repeating record but like for a while there, I had five
- 1:03:04podcasts on one patreon and then the patreon kind of dissipated
- 1:03:06because I ended S5 podcast. Some people still stuck around
- 1:03:09supported but a lot of that help pay for stream yard and Adobe
- 1:03:12and gas to chosen everything. But Facebook Facebook doesn't
- 1:03:16cost you anything. Go, follow my page, on Facebook,
- 1:03:19like share all that stuff that goes on Facebook.
- 1:03:21I'm already up to 70 bucks for the month because Facebook
- 1:03:24monetized me and I'm getting paid for people commenting and
- 1:03:27liking and it cost you 10 dollars.
- 1:03:30So I really want to appreciate everybody on the Facebook site
- 1:03:32who have been showing love and getting the name out there and
- 1:03:34sharing the page and having other people like it and
- 1:03:36supporting it because you're paying me and you don't even
- 1:03:39realize you're doing it and it means the world and I caught
- 1:03:41like I said it cost you nothing. So supporting people or
- 1:03:44supporting social media Brands and Pages goes a lot further
- 1:03:48than you think it does by hitting like and sharing and I
- 1:03:51know it sounds repetitive, but it does truly help.
- 1:03:54So thank you. Once again, Jazz markle's
- 1:03:56everyone who tuned in today, we had some heart route care
- 1:04:00reactions from Ryan, loves from Harris and Lindsay, and Pat and
- 1:04:05thumbs UPS from Alan. Amber, and Lance.
- 1:04:08Thank you guys all so much. We'll see you guys next time.
- 1:04:10Here's some music from Billy Trey.
- 1:04:12But make sure like, I said, you check the links below to see how
- 1:04:14you can support the independent wrestling scene as well as
- 1:04:16myself and my guess we'll see you next time.
