I'm PETA Bradders and today we are going to be reviewing what

happened at Grand Pro Wrestling over at Hindley near Wigan as it

saw GPW's latest offering in Heroes and Villains at the

Monaco Ballroom. So this is going to be a quicker

review because I am flying solo and I have written a few notes.

So it's going to be over pretty. You'll have a decent amount I

feel, but do not expect a very long review.

So getting to Wigan for me was absolute bar like having been to

Blackpool lean night before because I went to see Creeper

for the second time in about the space of three days.

The gig was fantastic, which I'm sure you you all wanted to know

that and I'm telling you anyhow. However coming back from

Blackpool and heading over to Wigan was as I say a real ball

like so the original train was cancelled because no trains were

heading to file so anyone that was heading towards Wigan Way

was told to jump on the nearest one and that one was heading to

York. So 2 carriages going to York

with everyone that was going to Liverpool Lime St.

The train I was meant to be on which included five carriages so

to say it was packed would have been an understatement.

So we all ended getting on and then what should have been about

a 20 minute earlier trip turned into a good half hour, maybe

even more so as the doors on the train would not shut.

And yes, it seems to be 1 continual problem after another

on this particular journey. But we got there in the end

taking a detour to Wigan Western.

I'm not saying great because it's not.

Then from there heading to Wall Gate and the final trip from

Wall Gate to Henley. So getting to the venue was

pretty easy to be fair because it's it's almost like the Las

Vegas Strip so to speak. Wigan because everything seems

to be or Henley at least as everything seems to be on one

massive Rd so I need ended up getting to the venue earlier

than I needed to because I got the time.

Mixed up. I thought it started at 3 and it

did not so ended up killing a bit of time.

Caught up with Stevie, Mike, Craig and my good mate John who

So we get to the venue and had some excellent seats.

It's got to be said up on the elevated part at the Monaco

Ballroom, which is a he's got to say it's one of my favourite

venues to host a wrestling show. So from there you had John and

me in a having perfect look and also we could see right behind

where the entrance where the big screen was.

So if anyone kind of made a dash or looked to interfere, we knew

where they were coming from. But we get to the actual show

and what should have saw the opening being Collins versus

Damon Lee. Unfortunately Damon Lee was

injured and had GPW finding a replacement.

And what a replacement they got as they got the best kept secret

in Romy Kendrick or the Northwest Best kept secret I

should say in Romy Kendrick. Always great to see Romy.

Haven't seen Collins much if truth be told.

I think I saw him I think on the last show I did at GPW and I saw

a promo from him at Odyssey Pro Wrestling.

That's all said, not a whole lot that I've written here, but

there was a fair bit that went on.

So both men kind of sizing each other up with power, wanting to

see who budges first. Neither man budges in Venice.

Romy then gets the advantage, Asks the crowd, does anyone want

to see a bulldog? Almost kind of in the the frozen

sense of does anyone want to build a snowman?

However, an overhead suplex by Collins sees the big man

overpowering his opponent, fires him a few times into the corner,

then we see Collins pulling one of the ring skirts up.

This of course leads to the referee getting angry with him

dropping down on the other side to kind of get everything nice

and neat. However, that does allow Collins

to then pull the skirt over Kendrick on the opposite side

and start throwing punches and driving knees into the head of

Kendrick. Both men try to hit 3 amigos and

both seemingly hit 2 and cannot do the trifecta.

We then see Collins hit a few German suplex before Kendrick

responds with a RIP cord spine Buster and in the end finishes

with Romi Kendrick hitting a beautiful five star Frog splash

for the win and sees your opening win going to Romi

Kendrick again. Really, really good opener.

Seems to be a case of recent shows I've been to where the

openers have been almost one of the best matches on the guard.

It's something they always say if you're not the main event

then being the first match on you kind of want to steal the

show and set the tone and this definitely did.

That match #2 saw for the GPW Tag Team trophy as Felmel in Tom

Felwell and Melissa Fierce. They took on Team of the Month

of the Goth Father Kemper and Dylan Roberts, with Isaiah Quinn

managing the duo. Now it has to be said there was

a lot of dissension between Kemper and Roberts.

If anyone can remember, I think it was Summer Slam 92 where you

had The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man as A tag team and

could not particularly did not really want to be partners.

And when they did tag, they were very unfriendly tags and this

kind of felt very much in that vein.

Isaac Quinn, though, did his best to try and keep the team

together. He was the glue, if you will,

are for his side. So we start off with Melissa

Fears and Kemper for their respective teams fierce, it's a

springboard crossbody, but is caught in the arms of Kemper.

And as I say, we see an ongoing theme of tension building

between both Kemper and Roberts and have Fell Mel in control due

to the miscommunication, shall we say, between them.

Too fierce hits a beautiful Hurricane Rana off the top rope

to Dylan Roberts. Tom tags in and wants the big

man. Then we see Fell Male working

really good as a unit, Hence why they are the current GPW Tag

Team trophy holders. That's a mouthful to say.

We then see Quinn jumping up on the apron.

This distracts farewell and it sees Roberts charging into the

back of him with a knee to the back of Tom.

I've wrote something that I have absolutely no idea what.

It says Mel is on fire though when she comes back in as she

takes it to Roberts, but he hits a spinebuster to kill her

progression. He then whips Mel so hard that

she practically bounces halfway back across the ring just due to

the power from Dylan. Roberts then looks her A tag

Kemper. I said he moves his hand away,

but I'm watching it back. He decides not to actually tag

in and Roberts snots into the path of his tag team partner.

With Quinn not particularly happy and going doing is nothing

really on on the outside because he can see things falling apart.

Tom takes charge though, sees Kemper missing a spot, fell

well, then moves out the way and sees Roberts squashing Kemper in

the corner. Quinn again distracts the

referee as well. Tom is taking it to Roberts,

Kemper grabs his chain, wraps it around his first, hits farewell

in the back and sees Quinn giving it the Biggin to the kids

as Roberts rolls up Tom for the 123 new GPW Tag Team trophy

league winners in Kempo and Dylan Roberts.

Oh was it because we then had Lana Austin and Lee Austin come

out? Lana grabs the microphone and

says no no, no, no, we're not having this result.

You're always cheating you a lot and this match is going to

restart. So obviously Austin is

technically the general manager it feels now.

So Kemper then goes over the top rope to try and kind of like get

at the Austins. Lana attempts to crossbody off

the top, but Kemp catches her. Lee then kicks him, hits a

cannonball from the apron on to Kemper.

Meanwhile in the ring we have Face coming off the top rope

with a picture crossbody. Tom hits Brain Buster on Dylan

Roberts and sees the restart of this contest being a retaining

victory for Fell Mel as we see Temper and Roberts not too happy

as they head back up and Isaiah Quinn looking a bit silly having

given it the the over the top celebrations when he sided not

one. However, after the match we then

are joined by Callum, Crowe and Decker as Felmela still in the

ring celebrating their victory but are surrounded now by the

flock as Lucian makes up the trio he comes from.

Kind of like behind Decker enters the ring and does a

spider kind of raised pose. So depending on your your

outlook it's either Felker doing her spider pose or it's kind of

how whites used to be when he kind of raised himself up but

head looking the good boy. You know what, I'm fell.

Mel do not know what to do at this point.

Crow gets so close to Tom that he spits black stuff in the eyes

of Tom. Mel tries to leg it, but Lucian

chases her all the way to the back.

And so it looks like we now have the Flock in GW.

So looking back at the match, this was a really fun match.

First time I think I've actually seen Bell Mel compete as a team.

Always great to see Tom. Always great to see.

Mel, to be fair, did enjoy. I have to say the dynamic of

this match of on paper you would probably say Kempering Roberts

win this, but the dissension added a an interesting mix to

this particular match. Plus with Isaiah Quinn, it's you

know, you always know he's he's going to be an irritant, if you

will, to the the good guys in matches.

Well, I just take a quick swing. But Quinn doing what he does

best entertaining whether he is the horrible, horrible man being

manager but if truth be told him running up to the kids and

celebrating in their face chef's kiss.

Isaiah, you are an absolute legend and a national treasure.

The match with it kind of restarting, I was OK with it

again. I don't fully watch GPWA lot so

but one thing they do extremely well is tell good stories and

this show had a lot of good stories practically weaved

throughout the show. So I'm wondering now if we're

going to get a Kemper Roberts squaring off in future and also

looks like we're going to have a flock looking to challenge Fell

Melts for the GPW Tag Team trophy.

We then come to the British Championship match, The Pardon,

which saw Don Sana Derson defending his title against Joe

Blazer. Now, I haven't wrote many

comments on this, and in fairness, it was not a bad

match. The crowd, however, had very

much zoned out at this point for whatever reason.

Derson and Blazer absolutely did everything they could.

They did big spots, they did really good wrestling moves, but

the crowd just were not particularly into this for

whatever reason. I think the biggest kind of like

reaction this much got was Derson hitting a delayed suplex

and I felt sorry for these two because I think halfway through

this they realised there's the crowd and not into this
19:27
whatsoever, which I don't know why because Derson is really fun

to watch. Blazer equally something that I
19:40
enjoy watching and a very different kind of wrestler like

over promotions I've seen, but he still puts in a shift again

this this whole match. I want to say forgettable, but

in no way is that tied to kind of like them to both really

good. Just the crowd would not for it

for whatever reason. And then we get to the the end

of the match and it looks like we're going to see a Spanish

fly, but it's a bit mistimed. I think one went earlier than

the other. Joe looked like he landed on his

head and it was a really rough landing chatting to Ben and the

Ogdens that were there. We were.

There was kind of the main discussion we had at the

interval that we couldn't, they did everything, the two lads,

but the crowd just were not into it.

And of course when you get dropped in your head, what do

And that's what happened to Blazer.

Thankfully he was OK. So we can we can chuckle in a in

a sense because he wasn't seriously injured.

So we had the interval and then we came back for the six man

gauntlet for the number one contendership to the British

title. So I've wrote effectively the

kind of like eliminations in this gauntlet because there is

too much to actually talk about here.

So we started off with Joey Hayes and Mickey Barnes.

This was a this was a fun little few minutes between these two.

The match spill to the outside. Joey pushed Mickey into the ring

post I believe, or it was Mickey running at Joe in the ring post.

That leads to Barnes getting counted out and while Joey's

celebrating, we have Jacob N coming in as the next entrant.

Mickey Barnes returns to the ring arguing with Joey Hayes and

with the referee, which was ref Steve Brimshaw.

They're all kind of like debating.

N comes right up behind Joey, gives him a low blow and sees

Jacob N rolling that man up for the win.

Next in this gauntlet was George Hunter, of which I've seen a few

Times Now and been hugely impressed with.

Hunter and N went on, I'd probably say about 7, maybe 8

minutes. A lot of good stuff between

these two. It's a shame it wasn't just

these two because I would have loved to have seen this go on a

bit longer. As it was, Hunter won with a

Swanton Bomb and sees Jacob N being eliminated with the next

man in being Jimmy Jackson. Again, Hunter and Jackson a good

few minutes, probably not as long as it was with Jacob North,

but this is equally entertaining.

This whole match, in fairness everyone that was involved made

it a very much kind of like must watch match.

Hunter pinch Jackson with an assisted rope splash, mainly

because I can't remember what the move was, but that then sees

Teddy Ray entering the fray and sees Hunter and Ray hitting

some. Really.

Oh, he sees Ray hitting some technical moves.

Hunter high flying as such is his prerogative.

Ends up with Hunter hitting a jackknife in on Teddy Ray with

the last man in being that of Brady Phillips.

So we have Brady Phillips being the, as some would quote, the

shit house. I mean, he wasn't a shit house.

He was doing his job here. I do have to.

I love watching Brady Phillips, the way he controls the crowd.

It's I think it's one of the first times I've seen him not on

a kind of like immature show, so kind of like you catch.

But the way he can still be a smarmy so and so and yet still

keep it within the confines of like a family show just shows

now much of A top professional he is.

So we have Hunter, who is almost beaten down from all the

punishment he's had in this contest.

Phillips kind of swaggering round, just telling the crowd to

shut up and celebrate, knowing that he's in total control.

However, George fires back, has Phillips in real, real trouble.

Just as it looks like Hunter is going to pick up victory, Teddy

Ray dashes from the back, pushes Hunter off the top rope and sees

George hitting his face off the top rope straight into the arms

of Brady Phillips, who hits a Phillips screwdriver I believe.

Great name. He picks up the victory and is

now the number one contender for the GPW British Championship.

After the contest it sees Phillips and Ray hugging as they

start the beat down on George Hunter and leads to Sana Dersen

making the save dashing to the ring and helps to set up A tag

team match for July the 5th at Great British Beat Down as we're

going to get Phillips and Ray against Derson and Hunter.

So if you do not have tickets for the Great British Beat Down

at the Monaco Ballroom in Henley, I definitely would

suggest it because that card, so far from what we know is
27:43
definitely looking to be a worthwhile 1.

Moving to your penultimate match of the show and we had a street

fight between Isaac North and the leading man.

Totally right. This went about 7 minutes and 33

and considering how quick of a match it was, both men got a lot

of stuff in. Most of it was Isaac N

brutalising that of Tony Wright. Wright though gave as good as he
28:31
got. However, N wrapping a chair

around the neck of Tony and driving it into the ring post

was one of those move or one of those spots you see where you
28:49
kind of tense up if things don't go into plan.

However, Tony still kind of battles in.

But North, in fairness, just beats the hell out of Tony in

this contest. We then kind of have all sorts

of stuff going on. Isaac then puts the chair around

the neck again, or throat if you will, of Tony right in the ring,

almost like the original Brian Hillman, except not the the

ankle, obviously. Around the neck stamps down on

the chair. Tony absolutely doing a great

job of selling the chair around the throat, but Tony hits 2

super kicks to keep himself in this contest.

However, Isaac does not flail, not flail, does not go down.

He stays on his feet as Tony does everything possible to try

and you know, stay in the contest.

But in the end it sees the death drop from Isaac north and that

ends any hopes of Tony Wright winning and sees Isaac N picking

up this win in the street fight before grabbing the microphone

and cuts a promo effectively just going sandy beach.

I'm coming for you. I'll be honest, I didn't hear

what he actually said because the the sound system just seemed

to be like a growl, which is kind of how Isaac talks in that

character. But it was a bit muffled with

the the ordeal that was near us. But I was I was told what the

Moving to our main event and it saw the savage rules in the

francophate Jack Johnson and I suppose you can loosely say the

leader in RPD. They took on the trio of Sandy

Beach, Rob Drake and Sam Bradwell in a six man battle and

dear God was this a battle. So the savage rule come out with
31:46
RPDS sinister version of his theme which I absolutely love

and a few of us were talking about it.

It is an absolute banger of a theme it has to be said.

Easily one of the best in the UK scene.

However, the match saw Sunday beach champion.

He's on the I think the middle rope just doing he going through
32:19
his traditional kind of posing to the crowds.

But as he's posing, we then see him on a three on one beat down

as he's yanked off the top rope by the savage rules.

They just put the boots to him, effectively leading to Drake

running down ringside. And he is, oh.

Them two are then joined by Sam Gradwell, The bandana wearing

Gradwell, to which I know a few people do not like him wearing
32:57
this bandana. It's it's a choice, I suppose.

So all six men brawl. This probably goes on for a good

couple of minutes. However, refs, the Grimshaw puts

his foot down and he's like an angry pair of six kids in the
33:18
ring and we finally get things down to one-on-one.

So the match mostly sees the GPW champion Sandy Beach getting

most of the beating in this contest.

He manages to get some momentum but Fate then kicks him on the
33:42
head with Sandy on the top rope and looking to try and hit a
33:50
pirate manoeuvre which obviously did not come off.

He splats to the floor. RPD then picks him up and hits a

pile driver on the ring apron, though most of it, it has to be
34:06
said, was more rope than the actual apron.

But it it was an awkward hit or an awkward manoeuvre.

But he did fall on the wooden floor.

So you know, rope apron and then the wooden floor is the triple

whammy if you like and that effectively takes Sandy Beach

out of this contest. We then have RPD looking for the

Superman punch but Drake catches him in mid air and hits a

twisting Death Valley driver like manoeuvre.

Fate and Jack then pull out referee Steve to stop the

pinfall. Gradwell is a double team on the

outside by both men as the referees back his turn.

It sees RPD grabbing the GPW title belt and with Rob Drake

looking to hit a running spear as he gets close by, RPD smashes

Drake in the head with the title knocking him out.

Fate and Johnson then pull Sam Gradwell to the edge of the

ring, forcing him to watch RPD hitting a Superman punch to the
35:37
back of Rob Drake's head and gets the 123 while staring at
35:45
the in despaired Sam Bradwell. As the Savage Rules take victory

in this six man contest, Sam is absolutely distraught at what

he's just seen. He tries to get RPD but as he
36:08
grabs the leg of him it sees the over two members of the Savage
36:14
Rules in Fate and Johnson managing to subdue Gradwell
36:21
before RPD knocks him out while being held.

We then see Sandy Beach being brought back into the ring and

sees the champion trying to show some of that championship spirit

and he does in fairness, but the numbers game is just too much.

He suffers a similar fate on the pun, a Superman punch and leaves

the champion laying in the middle of the ring.

However, as we see the Savage Rules at the top of the stage

celebrating what they have accomplished, we get the music

of Isaac N. He appears and have the Savage
37:14
Rules just backing off saying we want no part of you mate.

But here we have left Sandy Beach for you and seized north

heading down the ring. Ringside into the ring hits a

death drop and practically stands over Sandy Beach with the
37:38
title. And I think it's fair to say it

was a very bad day for the champion on this particular

show. So that was your GPW review

again, I said it was going to be pretty quick and bloody well

The first match we had was a match I was really looking

forward to in Scott Olbermann versus Judith Grey, so this

match was a really, really entertaining match.

Seeing Judith Grey as the clear babyface in this match was quite

different because I'm used to seeing Mr Judas Grey is a

healing many other promotions. I was cheering for Scott

Olbermann in this match, which Scott did appreciate.

So the story of the match it was it was quite 5050, Judas Grey

going for a lot of high flying moves.

Scott Olbermann, he was mixing it up.

A lot of grapples hit his signature move Ride the

Lightning. Judas Grey kicked out.

Judas Grey hit a really, really good looking Swanton Bomb in

this match, which I thought was going to be the three count, but

Oberman kicked out a nice first time match up between Obermann

and Judas. Great.

really fun. Obermann made Judas great top

surprised me because you don't really see Obermann pick up many

moved on to surprisingly Pele Invitational Rumble, which I did

not expect to see kick off the second match.

So the participants in this match was Alexis Falcon, Andre

Dekker, which it was his debut, CJ Calhoun, another debut,
