Transcript
- 0:09Hello and welcome to Bradders Rappers episode 37.
- 0:18I'm PETA Bradders and today we are going to be reviewing what
- 0:23happened at Grand Pro Wrestling over at Hindley near Wigan as it
- 0:31saw GPW's latest offering in Heroes and Villains at the
- 0:38Monaco Ballroom. So this is going to be a quicker
- 0:46review because I am flying solo and I have written a few notes.
- 0:52So it's going to be over pretty. You'll have a decent amount I
- 0:59feel, but do not expect a very long review.
- 1:06So getting to Wigan for me was absolute bar like having been to
- 1:16Blackpool lean night before because I went to see Creeper
- 1:20for the second time in about the space of three days.
- 1:27The gig was fantastic, which I'm sure you you all wanted to know
- 1:31that and I'm telling you anyhow. However coming back from
- 1:38Blackpool and heading over to Wigan was as I say a real ball
- 1:44like so the original train was cancelled because no trains were
- 1:52heading to file so anyone that was heading towards Wigan Way
- 2:00was told to jump on the nearest one and that one was heading to
- 2:06York. So 2 carriages going to York
- 2:13with everyone that was going to Liverpool Lime St.
- 2:17The train I was meant to be on which included five carriages so
- 2:23to say it was packed would have been an understatement.
- 2:28So we all ended getting on and then what should have been about
- 2:34a 20 minute earlier trip turned into a good half hour, maybe
- 2:41even more so as the doors on the train would not shut.
- 2:47And yes, it seems to be 1 continual problem after another
- 2:55on this particular journey. But we got there in the end
- 3:00taking a detour to Wigan Western.
- 3:06I'm not saying great because it's not.
- 3:09Then from there heading to Wall Gate and the final trip from
- 3:16Wall Gate to Henley. So getting to the venue was
- 3:23pretty easy to be fair because it's it's almost like the Las
- 3:27Vegas Strip so to speak. Wigan because everything seems
- 3:30to be or Henley at least as everything seems to be on one
- 3:34massive Rd so I need ended up getting to the venue earlier
- 3:41than I needed to because I got the time.
- 3:45Mixed up. I thought it started at 3 and it
- 3:51did not so ended up killing a bit of time.
- 3:57Caught up with Stevie, Mike, Craig and my good mate John who
- 4:04if you know catch you'll, you'll know who I'm talking about.
- 4:09So we get to the venue and had some excellent seats.
- 4:16It's got to be said up on the elevated part at the Monaco
- 4:22Ballroom, which is a he's got to say it's one of my favourite
- 4:27venues to host a wrestling show. So from there you had John and
- 4:34me in a having perfect look and also we could see right behind
- 4:42where the entrance where the big screen was.
- 4:45So if anyone kind of made a dash or looked to interfere, we knew
- 4:51where they were coming from. But we get to the actual show
- 4:59and what should have saw the opening being Collins versus
- 5:06Damon Lee. Unfortunately Damon Lee was
- 5:10injured and had GPW finding a replacement.
- 5:17And what a replacement they got as they got the best kept secret
- 5:24in Romy Kendrick or the Northwest Best kept secret I
- 5:29should say in Romy Kendrick. Always great to see Romy.
- 5:35Haven't seen Collins much if truth be told.
- 5:40I think I saw him I think on the last show I did at GPW and I saw
- 5:50a promo from him at Odyssey Pro Wrestling.
- 5:55That's all said, not a whole lot that I've written here, but
- 6:02there was a fair bit that went on.
- 6:05So both men kind of sizing each other up with power, wanting to
- 6:12see who budges first. Neither man budges in Venice.
- 6:19Romy then gets the advantage, Asks the crowd, does anyone want
- 6:25to see a bulldog? Almost kind of in the the frozen
- 6:30sense of does anyone want to build a snowman?
- 6:35However, an overhead suplex by Collins sees the big man
- 6:41overpowering his opponent, fires him a few times into the corner,
- 6:49then we see Collins pulling one of the ring skirts up.
- 6:57This of course leads to the referee getting angry with him
- 7:02dropping down on the other side to kind of get everything nice
- 7:07and neat. However, that does allow Collins
- 7:11to then pull the skirt over Kendrick on the opposite side
- 7:15and start throwing punches and driving knees into the head of
- 7:20Kendrick. Both men try to hit 3 amigos and
- 7:27both seemingly hit 2 and cannot do the trifecta.
- 7:33We then see Collins hit a few German suplex before Kendrick
- 7:38responds with a RIP cord spine Buster and in the end finishes
- 7:45with Romi Kendrick hitting a beautiful five star Frog splash
- 7:49for the win and sees your opening win going to Romi
- 7:54Kendrick again. Really, really good opener.
- 8:01Seems to be a case of recent shows I've been to where the
- 8:07openers have been almost one of the best matches on the guard.
- 8:13It's something they always say if you're not the main event
- 8:17then being the first match on you kind of want to steal the
- 8:22show and set the tone and this definitely did.
- 8:27That match #2 saw for the GPW Tag Team trophy as Felmel in Tom
- 8:39Felwell and Melissa Fierce. They took on Team of the Month
- 8:46of the Goth Father Kemper and Dylan Roberts, with Isaiah Quinn
- 8:52managing the duo. Now it has to be said there was
- 8:59a lot of dissension between Kemper and Roberts.
- 9:05If anyone can remember, I think it was Summer Slam 92 where you
- 9:10had The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man as A tag team and
- 9:17could not particularly did not really want to be partners.
- 9:22And when they did tag, they were very unfriendly tags and this
- 9:28kind of felt very much in that vein.
- 9:34Isaac Quinn, though, did his best to try and keep the team
- 9:40together. He was the glue, if you will,
- 9:43are for his side. So we start off with Melissa
- 9:50Fears and Kemper for their respective teams fierce, it's a
- 9:55springboard crossbody, but is caught in the arms of Kemper.
- 10:02And as I say, we see an ongoing theme of tension building
- 10:07between both Kemper and Roberts and have Fell Mel in control due
- 10:13to the miscommunication, shall we say, between them.
- 10:18Too fierce hits a beautiful Hurricane Rana off the top rope
- 10:25to Dylan Roberts. Tom tags in and wants the big
- 10:31man. Then we see Fell Male working
- 10:34really good as a unit, Hence why they are the current GPW Tag
- 10:43Team trophy holders. That's a mouthful to say.
- 10:50We then see Quinn jumping up on the apron.
- 10:54This distracts farewell and it sees Roberts charging into the
- 10:59back of him with a knee to the back of Tom.
- 11:07I've wrote something that I have absolutely no idea what.
- 11:10It says Mel is on fire though when she comes back in as she
- 11:16takes it to Roberts, but he hits a spinebuster to kill her
- 11:22progression. He then whips Mel so hard that
- 11:27she practically bounces halfway back across the ring just due to
- 11:33the power from Dylan. Roberts then looks her A tag
- 11:40Kemper. I said he moves his hand away,
- 11:42but I'm watching it back. He decides not to actually tag
- 11:48in and Roberts snots into the path of his tag team partner.
- 11:55With Quinn not particularly happy and going doing is nothing
- 12:00really on on the outside because he can see things falling apart.
- 12:05Tom takes charge though, sees Kemper missing a spot, fell
- 12:11well, then moves out the way and sees Roberts squashing Kemper in
- 12:18the corner. Quinn again distracts the
- 12:21referee as well. Tom is taking it to Roberts,
- 12:26Kemper grabs his chain, wraps it around his first, hits farewell
- 12:31in the back and sees Quinn giving it the Biggin to the kids
- 12:38as Roberts rolls up Tom for the 123 new GPW Tag Team trophy
- 12:48league winners in Kempo and Dylan Roberts.
- 12:54Oh was it because we then had Lana Austin and Lee Austin come
- 13:00out? Lana grabs the microphone and
- 13:03says no no, no, no, we're not having this result.
- 13:08You're always cheating you a lot and this match is going to
- 13:11restart. So obviously Austin is
- 13:16technically the general manager it feels now.
- 13:19So Kemper then goes over the top rope to try and kind of like get
- 13:26at the Austins. Lana attempts to crossbody off
- 13:30the top, but Kemp catches her. Lee then kicks him, hits a
- 13:36cannonball from the apron on to Kemper.
- 13:41Meanwhile in the ring we have Face coming off the top rope
- 13:46with a picture crossbody. Tom hits Brain Buster on Dylan
- 13:51Roberts and sees the restart of this contest being a retaining
- 13:58victory for Fell Mel as we see Temper and Roberts not too happy
- 14:07as they head back up and Isaiah Quinn looking a bit silly having
- 14:14given it the the over the top celebrations when he sided not
- 14:22one. However, after the match we then
- 14:26are joined by Callum, Crowe and Decker as Felmela still in the
- 14:36ring celebrating their victory but are surrounded now by the
- 14:41flock as Lucian makes up the trio he comes from.
- 14:49Kind of like behind Decker enters the ring and does a
- 14:55spider kind of raised pose. So depending on your your
- 15:02outlook it's either Felker doing her spider pose or it's kind of
- 15:08how whites used to be when he kind of raised himself up but
- 15:15head looking the good boy. You know what, I'm fell.
- 15:20Mel do not know what to do at this point.
- 15:23Crow gets so close to Tom that he spits black stuff in the eyes
- 15:28of Tom. Mel tries to leg it, but Lucian
- 15:33chases her all the way to the back.
- 15:36And so it looks like we now have the Flock in GW.
- 15:44So looking back at the match, this was a really fun match.
- 15:51First time I think I've actually seen Bell Mel compete as a team.
- 15:58Always great to see Tom. Always great to see.
- 16:02Mel, to be fair, did enjoy. I have to say the dynamic of
- 16:09this match of on paper you would probably say Kempering Roberts
- 16:13win this, but the dissension added a an interesting mix to
- 16:22this particular match. Plus with Isaiah Quinn, it's you
- 16:27know, you always know he's he's going to be an irritant, if you
- 16:33will, to the the good guys in matches.
- 16:41Well, I just take a quick swing. But Quinn doing what he does
- 16:48best entertaining whether he is the horrible, horrible man being
- 16:57manager but if truth be told him running up to the kids and
- 17:05celebrating in their face chef's kiss.
- 17:09Isaiah, you are an absolute legend and a national treasure.
- 17:17The match with it kind of restarting, I was OK with it
- 17:24again. I don't fully watch GPWA lot so
- 17:29but one thing they do extremely well is tell good stories and
- 17:37this show had a lot of good stories practically weaved
- 17:43throughout the show. So I'm wondering now if we're
- 17:46going to get a Kemper Roberts squaring off in future and also
- 17:54looks like we're going to have a flock looking to challenge Fell
- 17:58Melts for the GPW Tag Team trophy.
- 18:05We then come to the British Championship match, The Pardon,
- 18:11which saw Don Sana Derson defending his title against Joe
- 18:17Blazer. Now, I haven't wrote many
- 18:23comments on this, and in fairness, it was not a bad
- 18:28match. The crowd, however, had very
- 18:33much zoned out at this point for whatever reason.
- 18:39Derson and Blazer absolutely did everything they could.
- 18:45They did big spots, they did really good wrestling moves, but
- 18:54the crowd just were not particularly into this for
- 19:01whatever reason. I think the biggest kind of like
- 19:06reaction this much got was Derson hitting a delayed suplex
- 19:14and I felt sorry for these two because I think halfway through
- 19:22this they realised there's the crowd and not into this
- 19:27whatsoever, which I don't know why because Derson is really fun
- 19:34to watch. Blazer equally something that I
- 19:40enjoy watching and a very different kind of wrestler like
- 19:50over promotions I've seen, but he still puts in a shift again
- 19:55this this whole match. I want to say forgettable, but
- 20:02in no way is that tied to kind of like them to both really
- 20:11good. Just the crowd would not for it
- 20:15for whatever reason. And then we get to the the end
- 20:21of the match and it looks like we're going to see a Spanish
- 20:25fly, but it's a bit mistimed. I think one went earlier than
- 20:33the other. Joe looked like he landed on his
- 20:37head and it was a really rough landing chatting to Ben and the
- 20:48Ogdens that were there. We were.
- 20:52There was kind of the main discussion we had at the
- 20:54interval that we couldn't, they did everything, the two lads,
- 20:59but the crowd just were not into it.
- 21:04And of course when you get dropped in your head, what do
- 21:11you do? You do photos.
- 21:13And that's what happened to Blazer.
- 21:17Thankfully he was OK. So we can we can chuckle in a in
- 21:24a sense because he wasn't seriously injured.
- 21:29So we had the interval and then we came back for the six man
- 21:34gauntlet for the number one contendership to the British
- 21:39title. So I've wrote effectively the
- 21:45kind of like eliminations in this gauntlet because there is
- 21:49too much to actually talk about here.
- 21:53So we started off with Joey Hayes and Mickey Barnes.
- 22:04This was a this was a fun little few minutes between these two.
- 22:10The match spill to the outside. Joey pushed Mickey into the ring
- 22:16post I believe, or it was Mickey running at Joe in the ring post.
- 22:22That leads to Barnes getting counted out and while Joey's
- 22:28celebrating, we have Jacob N coming in as the next entrant.
- 22:34Mickey Barnes returns to the ring arguing with Joey Hayes and
- 22:39with the referee, which was ref Steve Brimshaw.
- 22:45They're all kind of like debating.
- 22:47N comes right up behind Joey, gives him a low blow and sees
- 22:53Jacob N rolling that man up for the win.
- 23:00Next in this gauntlet was George Hunter, of which I've seen a few
- 23:06Times Now and been hugely impressed with.
- 23:11Hunter and N went on, I'd probably say about 7, maybe 8
- 23:18minutes. A lot of good stuff between
- 23:22these two. It's a shame it wasn't just
- 23:26these two because I would have loved to have seen this go on a
- 23:30bit longer. As it was, Hunter won with a
- 23:35Swanton Bomb and sees Jacob N being eliminated with the next
- 23:42man in being Jimmy Jackson. Again, Hunter and Jackson a good
- 23:50few minutes, probably not as long as it was with Jacob North,
- 23:57but this is equally entertaining.
- 24:00This whole match, in fairness everyone that was involved made
- 24:05it a very much kind of like must watch match.
- 24:10Hunter pinch Jackson with an assisted rope splash, mainly
- 24:16because I can't remember what the move was, but that then sees
- 24:21Teddy Ray entering the fray and sees Hunter and Ray hitting
- 24:27some. Really.
- 24:31Oh, he sees Ray hitting some technical moves.
- 24:34Hunter high flying as such is his prerogative.
- 24:41Ends up with Hunter hitting a jackknife in on Teddy Ray with
- 24:47the last man in being that of Brady Phillips.
- 24:53So we have Brady Phillips being the, as some would quote, the
- 25:01shit house. I mean, he wasn't a shit house.
- 25:04He was doing his job here. I do have to.
- 25:09I love watching Brady Phillips, the way he controls the crowd.
- 25:16It's I think it's one of the first times I've seen him not on
- 25:21a kind of like immature show, so kind of like you catch.
- 25:27But the way he can still be a smarmy so and so and yet still
- 25:35keep it within the confines of like a family show just shows
- 25:40now much of A top professional he is.
- 25:45So we have Hunter, who is almost beaten down from all the
- 25:50punishment he's had in this contest.
- 25:54Phillips kind of swaggering round, just telling the crowd to
- 25:58shut up and celebrate, knowing that he's in total control.
- 26:04However, George fires back, has Phillips in real, real trouble.
- 26:12Just as it looks like Hunter is going to pick up victory, Teddy
- 26:18Ray dashes from the back, pushes Hunter off the top rope and sees
- 26:24George hitting his face off the top rope straight into the arms
- 26:31of Brady Phillips, who hits a Phillips screwdriver I believe.
- 26:37Great name. He picks up the victory and is
- 26:41now the number one contender for the GPW British Championship.
- 26:50After the contest it sees Phillips and Ray hugging as they
- 26:56start the beat down on George Hunter and leads to Sana Dersen
- 27:03making the save dashing to the ring and helps to set up A tag
- 27:11team match for July the 5th at Great British Beat Down as we're
- 27:18going to get Phillips and Ray against Derson and Hunter.
- 27:26So if you do not have tickets for the Great British Beat Down
- 27:31at the Monaco Ballroom in Henley, I definitely would
- 27:36suggest it because that card, so far from what we know is
- 27:43definitely looking to be a worthwhile 1.
- 27:49Moving to your penultimate match of the show and we had a street
- 27:57fight between Isaac North and the leading man.
- 28:02Totally right. This went about 7 minutes and 33
- 28:11and considering how quick of a match it was, both men got a lot
- 28:17of stuff in. Most of it was Isaac N
- 28:24brutalising that of Tony Wright. Wright though gave as good as he
- 28:31got. However, N wrapping a chair
- 28:36around the neck of Tony and driving it into the ring post
- 28:43was one of those move or one of those spots you see where you
- 28:49kind of tense up if things don't go into plan.
- 28:55However, Tony still kind of battles in.
- 29:01But North, in fairness, just beats the hell out of Tony in
- 29:06this contest. We then kind of have all sorts
- 29:13of stuff going on. Isaac then puts the chair around
- 29:19the neck again, or throat if you will, of Tony right in the ring,
- 29:24almost like the original Brian Hillman, except not the the
- 29:30ankle, obviously. Around the neck stamps down on
- 29:36the chair. Tony absolutely doing a great
- 29:40job of selling the chair around the throat, but Tony hits 2
- 29:46super kicks to keep himself in this contest.
- 29:51However, Isaac does not flail, not flail, does not go down.
- 30:04He stays on his feet as Tony does everything possible to try
- 30:10and you know, stay in the contest.
- 30:14But in the end it sees the death drop from Isaac north and that
- 30:20ends any hopes of Tony Wright winning and sees Isaac N picking
- 30:26up this win in the street fight before grabbing the microphone
- 30:32and cuts a promo effectively just going sandy beach.
- 30:38I'm coming for you. I'll be honest, I didn't hear
- 30:43what he actually said because the the sound system just seemed
- 30:48to be like a growl, which is kind of how Isaac talks in that
- 30:55character. But it was a bit muffled with
- 31:00the the ordeal that was near us. But I was I was told what the
- 31:05the actual quote was. So thank you for that.
- 31:10Moving to our main event and it saw the savage rules in the
- 31:18francophate Jack Johnson and I suppose you can loosely say the
- 31:26leader in RPD. They took on the trio of Sandy
- 31:31Beach, Rob Drake and Sam Bradwell in a six man battle and
- 31:40dear God was this a battle. So the savage rule come out with
- 31:46RPDS sinister version of his theme which I absolutely love
- 31:54and a few of us were talking about it.
- 31:57It is an absolute banger of a theme it has to be said.
- 32:01Easily one of the best in the UK scene.
- 32:07However, the match saw Sunday beach champion.
- 32:12He's on the I think the middle rope just doing he going through
- 32:19his traditional kind of posing to the crowds.
- 32:25But as he's posing, we then see him on a three on one beat down
- 32:31as he's yanked off the top rope by the savage rules.
- 32:36They just put the boots to him, effectively leading to Drake
- 32:42running down ringside. And he is, oh.
- 32:46Them two are then joined by Sam Gradwell, The bandana wearing
- 32:52Gradwell, to which I know a few people do not like him wearing
- 32:57this bandana. It's it's a choice, I suppose.
- 33:04So all six men brawl. This probably goes on for a good
- 33:09couple of minutes. However, refs, the Grimshaw puts
- 33:14his foot down and he's like an angry pair of six kids in the
- 33:18ring and we finally get things down to one-on-one.
- 33:25So the match mostly sees the GPW champion Sandy Beach getting
- 33:32most of the beating in this contest.
- 33:36He manages to get some momentum but Fate then kicks him on the
- 33:42head with Sandy on the top rope and looking to try and hit a
- 33:50pirate manoeuvre which obviously did not come off.
- 33:54He splats to the floor. RPD then picks him up and hits a
- 34:01pile driver on the ring apron, though most of it, it has to be
- 34:06said, was more rope than the actual apron.
- 34:11But it it was an awkward hit or an awkward manoeuvre.
- 34:24But he did fall on the wooden floor.
- 34:26So you know, rope apron and then the wooden floor is the triple
- 34:32whammy if you like and that effectively takes Sandy Beach
- 34:36out of this contest. We then have RPD looking for the
- 34:42Superman punch but Drake catches him in mid air and hits a
- 34:47twisting Death Valley driver like manoeuvre.
- 34:51Fate and Jack then pull out referee Steve to stop the
- 34:55pinfall. Gradwell is a double team on the
- 34:59outside by both men as the referees back his turn.
- 35:04It sees RPD grabbing the GPW title belt and with Rob Drake
- 35:11looking to hit a running spear as he gets close by, RPD smashes
- 35:18Drake in the head with the title knocking him out.
- 35:24Fate and Johnson then pull Sam Gradwell to the edge of the
- 35:30ring, forcing him to watch RPD hitting a Superman punch to the
- 35:37back of Rob Drake's head and gets the 123 while staring at
- 35:45the in despaired Sam Bradwell. As the Savage Rules take victory
- 35:54in this six man contest, Sam is absolutely distraught at what
- 36:01he's just seen. He tries to get RPD but as he
- 36:08grabs the leg of him it sees the over two members of the Savage
- 36:14Rules in Fate and Johnson managing to subdue Gradwell
- 36:21before RPD knocks him out while being held.
- 36:27We then see Sandy Beach being brought back into the ring and
- 36:33sees the champion trying to show some of that championship spirit
- 36:38and he does in fairness, but the numbers game is just too much.
- 36:44He suffers a similar fate on the pun, a Superman punch and leaves
- 36:52the champion laying in the middle of the ring.
- 36:57However, as we see the Savage Rules at the top of the stage
- 37:04celebrating what they have accomplished, we get the music
- 37:09of Isaac N. He appears and have the Savage
- 37:14Rules just backing off saying we want no part of you mate.
- 37:19But here we have left Sandy Beach for you and seized north
- 37:25heading down the ring. Ringside into the ring hits a
- 37:31death drop and practically stands over Sandy Beach with the
- 37:38title. And I think it's fair to say it
- 37:41was a very bad day for the champion on this particular
- 37:47show. So that was your GPW review
- 37:56again, I said it was going to be pretty quick and bloody well
- 38:02was. Ideally I was going to try and
- 38:07get some help on this show as I have a couple of people, but I
- 38:14just work on things, have not allowed it.
- 38:21That said, I have done it now so it's in the book so to speak.
- 38:27That said though, we still have a couple of upcoming podcasts,
- 38:35some that are very very late in doing as we hope this week to do
- 38:43one for North Wrestling, their last show in Leeds which was Oh
- 38:50good fair few weeks now. And also we will look at Salford
- 38:56City Wrestling before ideally the next show which I believe is
- 39:06on while I quickly check my schedule which is on June the
- 39:145th. Entitled Friends or Foe and we
- 39:19do have a few matches for that next show which we will discuss
- 39:26when we come to reviewing that last Salford show.
- 39:32But yes, that is all for now. Thank you for listening to this
- 39:40very bite sized chunked version of Braddest Grappas.
- 39:48We don't always do 2 hour shows. We can do smaller shows normally
- 39:55if I'm on my own, but we do have a atomic review so I will add
- 40:04that after the next sand effect you hear.
- 40:10So this was kindly sent in by our roving reporter at.
- 40:19On Merseyside, forgot the county.
- 40:21Then in Miles Smith, who is my unofficial official Co host or
- 40:29should that be official unofficial Co host?
- 40:33It's one of those two. But yes, he kindly gave us a
- 40:38rundown at what happened at atomics birthday show.
- 40:45So I will leave you in the capable hands of Miles Smith.
- 40:53Hello, good morning, good evening, good afternoon.
- 40:57It is Miles. I have been asked by brothers to
- 41:01review the last show from Atomic Pro Wrestling, their third
- 41:07birthday party, which happened this following weekend.
- 41:15The first match we had was a match I was really looking
- 41:19forward to in Scott Olbermann versus Judith Grey, so this
- 41:27match was a really, really entertaining match.
- 41:35Seeing Judith Grey as the clear babyface in this match was quite
- 41:41different because I'm used to seeing Mr Judas Grey is a
- 41:46healing many other promotions. I was cheering for Scott
- 41:52Olbermann in this match, which Scott did appreciate.
- 41:57So the story of the match it was it was quite 5050, Judas Grey
- 42:05going for a lot of high flying moves.
- 42:09Scott Olbermann, he was mixing it up.
- 42:14A lot of grapples hit his signature move Ride the
- 42:19Lightning. Judas Grey kicked out.
- 42:25Judas Grey hit a really, really good looking Swanton Bomb in
- 42:29this match, which I thought was going to be the three count, but
- 42:34Oberman kicked out a nice first time match up between Obermann
- 42:42and Judas. Great.
- 42:43Hopefully they run it back because yeah, it was really,
- 42:48really fun. Obermann made Judas great top
- 42:52out with Zach Gibson's finishing move, the Shankly Gates, which
- 42:57surprised me because you don't really see Obermann pick up many
- 43:01submission victories. Then after the first match we
- 43:06moved on to surprisingly Pele Invitational Rumble, which I did
- 43:15not expect to see kick off the second match.
- 43:20So the participants in this match was Alexis Falcon, Andre
- 43:25Dekker, which it was his debut, CJ Calhoun, another debut,
- 43:31Donnie Proper, Dynamite, Lee Dawson, El Refe, Hardman Dan.
- 43:38First time I've seen Hardman Dan, cool to see him debuting
- 43:41Atomic. Ian Skinner, another debut for
- 43:45Ian, ticked off for 2026, Big Jimmy Greenwood, the return in
- 43:53Liam Carr and AJ Pele and Saxa. This was a really really fun
- 44:02rumble. Getting to see a lot of the
- 44:06usual Atomic faces mix it up with a few debuts, which was
- 44:11always cool to see. Always good to see new people
- 44:15coming into Atomic. CJ Calhoun looking like an
- 44:20absolute monster in this match. Picking up quite a few
- 44:23eliminations which was really really surprising to see.
- 44:28Decker another big man very very dominant in this match.
- 44:34Nice to see the women mix it up with males in this match as
- 44:38well. Always always love to see
- 44:41someone into gender wrestling. The biggest pop of the night
- 44:45went to big Jimmy Greenwood. When James Greenwood come
- 44:49running down to that ring. The whole of content just man
- 44:54that pop for Jimmy Greenwood was crazy.
- 44:59I just couldn't believe seeing James Greenwood come into the
- 45:02ring and then laid out Andre Decker and then hit a hurricane
- 45:07runner on Liam Carr. Crazy scenes.
- 45:12And then Jimmy Greenwood and El Raphael eliminated CJ Calhoun
- 45:17that that was a really, really cool spot.
- 45:21Overall, it was quite an entertaining rumble.
- 45:26So the final two was Alexis Falcon and Pele.
- 45:32Pele brings the cake to the ring and we know what happens with
- 45:36Pele and cake. This did not go well.
- 45:44Falcon thought she had won the match, but Pele was the last
- 45:47entrant into the match. Yeah, Pele gets cake thrown in
- 45:55his face and then ends up being eliminated from the Rumble.
- 45:59And then it sees Alexis Falcon win and for winning the Rumble
- 46:05she got a letter which the crowds wanted to be AP 45.
- 46:12We wanted Falcon to get the pink slip but instead it ended up
- 46:17being Alexis Falcon now gets a match of her choice anytime that
- 46:24she wants. So be interesting to see what
- 46:27match she goes for. If she goes for maybe the title
- 46:31she could face Teddy Ray which will be cool to see or does she
- 46:36go for something different? We'll see.
- 46:43The next match was another match I was really looking forward to.
- 46:49It was the return of the size Nathan Black as he went up
- 46:57against Sam Bailey. Nathan Black apologising for the
- 47:02previous time but he was in Atomic saying he's a changed
- 47:05man. Though the crowd was firmly
- 47:08behind Black in this match. A lot of slapstick comedy in
- 47:13this match. Nathan flexing a lot on Sam,
- 47:18Bailey just showing off the absolute size.
- 47:23Bailey going for a few chops on Nathan, but Nathan though
- 47:28selling it because Nathan's a absolute unit.
- 47:34The overall it was, wouldn't say it was like the best graps, but
- 47:44it was it did its job. It was a funny match.
- 47:48It was cool to see two traditional heels going
- 47:54one-on-one with Nathan being the baby facing this match.
- 47:59Always cool to see he'll showing off his other side.
- 48:05So the end of the match saw Sam Bailey cheat to beat Nathan
- 48:11Black with some knuckle dusters which he pulled out of nowhere.
- 48:16Like where did this guy even get them knuckle dusters from?
- 48:20He probably got gotten from his local hardware shop but I
- 48:24digress. Sam Bailey picks up another win
- 48:27for 2025, the year of Sam Bailey.
- 48:30But I'm I'm ashamed. Nathan Black should have won
- 48:36that match but it it happens Sam cheated.
- 48:41Referee didn't see it. I digress.
- 48:47So after this we saw FTM going on against Troy Ryan and a
- 48:55mystery partner. Who was Troy Ryan going to find?
- 49:03Troy Ryan pulled out the master of the ups and downs, Simon
- 49:10Miller. Always cool to see Simon
- 49:15anywhere he is. It's it's been a while since
- 49:18I've seen Simon Miller, so him and Troy tagging together, it's
- 49:23pretty cool. I know they faced off recently
- 49:26at Salford City Wrestling, so getting to see him tag this time
- 49:30around. Yes, there's a nice, nice tag
- 49:35team we dubbed them as they had two names given to them.
- 49:39It was me and Miller or Golden Meat.
- 49:44Troy's unsure which name's going to stick but I fit.
- 49:48Golden Meat is the one. This was an interesting tag team
- 49:54match. So so majority in the match.
- 49:59FDM quite dominant, frequent tags in and out.
- 50:05Miller and Troy. They worked quite well as a team
- 50:11considering it was their first time tagging together.
- 50:17I can't remember too much from a match, but from what it was, it
- 50:21was yeah, it was a it was a fun match.
- 50:26Miller getting slapped around the head a few times because
- 50:28he's bald, but yeah, that that was funny.
- 50:34So the ending of the match saw it was a really confusing
- 50:40ending. So it's all Sam Bailey come back
- 50:42out to assist FTM which Liverpool and Manchester
- 50:50tagging? Who knows.
- 50:52I know for the next show it got confirmed that Simon is back and
- 50:58Troy is back and it's going to be a six man tag where Simon and
- 51:04Troy's got to find a different tag team partner.
- 51:09No idea who it could be, hopefully it's somebody good,
- 51:15but we'll find out on the next show.
- 51:20Moving on to the Atomic Tag Team title match between the new
- 51:29champions. Quintessential going on against
- 51:32Act 2. So the stipulation for this
- 51:35match was if Act 2 lose they will never challenge for the
- 51:40titles again, which we'll we'll come to the ending of this
- 51:48match. I really, really enjoyed this
- 51:53match. The crowd was on fire for this
- 51:58match. There's not not too much it can
- 52:02say for Act 2 versus Quinlan's two of the best tag teams in the
- 52:09UK carrying on the trilogy of matches between these two very
- 52:165050. On this match, for parts of the
- 52:20match Act 2 dominated, and then for other parts of the match
- 52:26quintessential dominated. I really enjoyed in this match
- 52:39Jack Knudson showing off his cocky, arrogant side.
- 52:43So at one point during this match I was chanting where he
- 52:46titles gone, Jack Knudson comes out the ring, makes a beeline
- 52:51for me and squares up to me. It was, it was brilliant.
- 52:54Oh, I, I really I'm enjoying the heel side of that two at the
- 52:59minute. It's it's working really, really
- 53:03well for him. Getting to see the different
- 53:06side of Act 2 is, yeah, fantastic.
- 53:10Quinlan's are so over in Liverpool at the minute.
- 53:15So the ending of this match, it made sense at first.
- 53:21I had no idea what was going on, but yeah, so sent effectively
- 53:28what happened was it just turned into a massive brawl on the
- 53:32outside of the ring. Eventually the referee got up to
- 53:37A10 count. Even after the 10 count, the two
- 53:40teams were just still fighting all over content.
- 53:46So after the big massive brawl, the Quinlan's cut a promo saying
- 53:52they want a Full Metal Mayhem match with ladders so that the
- 53:59belts are going to be hung up from the top of content, which
- 54:05I'm really looking forward to that match because them two
- 54:08teams with ladders and weapons and all other metal objects,
- 54:15it's going to get crazy. So if you're not there for that
- 54:20one, watch it online when it eventually drops.
- 54:23But if he can get there June 21st, make sure you do because
- 54:28that that match is going to be really, really, really fun.
- 54:34So next we had a how'd you put it?
- 54:43So Ian Skinner comes back to the ring, cuts a Pro Bowl saying he
- 54:48didn't even do anything in the Rumble.
- 54:50He wasn't he got eliminated, but he didn't do anything.
- 54:55So he's he's ready for another match.
- 54:59So who comes to the ring other than the one himself?
- 55:10Joe Blazer and these two, the two most annoying people in Brit
- 55:22rests. Like these guys just know how to
- 55:26work a crowd. My face.
- 55:29When Joel Blazer come to the ring and Ian Skinner was already
- 55:32in the ring, I was so disappointed.
- 55:36So it looked like we were going to have a match between Blazer
- 55:39and Skinner, but Blazer and Skinner hug it out, make
- 55:46friends, and then we do eventually get a match.
- 55:54I'm unsure if it was a triple threat or a handicap match.
- 55:59Joe Kessler comes to the ring, makes a beeline for both guys,
- 56:05demands that he has a match, that he's ready for both of
- 56:08them. Skinner quickly goes outside the
- 56:13ring, offers his hand to Blazer to get tagged in.
- 56:23This was another squash match for Blazer.
- 56:26He just, yeah, Kessler hits him with his finisher straight away,
- 56:31sort of like the end of days finisher.
- 56:35Really, really quick match. I think it was about 20 seconds.
- 56:39Skinner taking no bumps, leaving his friend for dead.
- 56:47I just can't get over how Joe Blaze has been squashed twice
- 56:51now in Atomic. First it was Rob Drake at the
- 56:55Burning Heart show where he got spared within the 1st 10 seconds
- 56:58and now we're in a handicap match where he just gets
- 57:02destroyed by Joe Kessler. Just really, really clever
- 57:08booking from Atomic. I think the sort's going to
- 57:13slowly build Joe Blazer up to eventually get some wins.
- 57:19The main event was another handicap match, seeing the
- 57:23Trailer Dead going against Northwest Strong in Keenan
- 57:28Krishna and Teddy Ray. Despite Northwest Strong having
- 57:34the man disadvantage, they still look really really strong going
- 57:40up against the Trailer Dead, working really well as a team.
- 57:46Teddy and Keenan were just really, really strong in this
- 57:50match despite the adversities they faced in the match where
- 57:55there was a lot of underhanded cheating from trail of dead as
- 58:01expected because they've got the man advantage, they can get away
- 58:03with breaking the rules. Yeah.
- 58:12So I can't remember too much of the match but all I remember is
- 58:17was Trailer Dead with Dominant throughout most of the match but
- 58:23when Northwest Strong did get a comeback on they look like
- 58:28beating Trailer Dead on multiple multiple occasions.
- 58:33The ending of the match saw Trailer Dead pick up the win
- 58:37over Northwest Strong sort of expected, but they perform a
- 58:46beat down on Keenan and Chris after the match.
- 58:51And then we see the return of Teddy Ray coming all the way
- 58:58from from Wiggin from Grand Pro to make the save for his
- 59:04Northwest Strong brothers running to the ring with his
- 59:08little mini suitcase. So I think at the next show we
- 59:14might end up seeing the actual free on free tag team match
- 59:18between these. So it's built a store, it's
- 59:22built a storyline, which is always good to see new
- 59:26storylines being built. The only thing I'd say about
- 59:29this show was I thought too many heels won.
- 59:35Only one face won in this match and it was a squash match.
- 59:38And then the other face match was a double count out where the
- 59:44Quinlans probably were going to win, but they did a double count
- 59:48out. But overall, it was quite a
- 59:53solid show. Probably not the best atomic
- 59:56show, but it's built a few new storylines which I'm looking
- 1:00:01forward to seeing how they develop throughout the rest of
- 1:00:03the year. And yeah, thank you for
- 1:00:08listening, and I bet you would do.
- 1:00:13So thank you very much there, Miles.
- 1:00:17Seen a lot happen on that show at Content in Liverpool.
- 1:00:24Obviously I was not able to make it because I was at Wigan.
- 1:00:31But yes, as I say, thank you for listening.
- 1:00:35We should, fingers crossed, have a couple more review shows to do
- 1:00:41by the end of this week. If not, I will hopefully be in
- 1:00:48Warrington on Saturday for the first ever Warrington Town
- 1:00:56Wrestling show. So if you're there, I will see
- 1:01:02you there. Will be I I still have to buy a
- 1:01:06ticket yet, so yes, I suppose I should get on that straight away
- 1:01:12to be fair. But of course, if you want to
- 1:01:17leave any feedback, hopefully positive, then you can do that
- 1:01:25on Brothers graphs, I believe on X, or you can just leave a
- 1:01:34comment on the podcasts. What else have we got?
- 1:01:40Instagram. I am on there under brothers
- 1:01:45graphers because I remember I have to do a bridge pro show.
- 1:01:50So yes it's it's going to be a long week reviewing shows.
- 1:01:57That all said, thank you very much for listening to this.
- 1:02:03Get yourself down to the next GPW show on July the 5th on at
- 1:02:13the Monaco Ballroom for Great British Beat Down but for now we
- 1:02:21will see you on the next retard.
