• 0:27
Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
• 0:30
So today we're going to have a little farm lesson and there's a
• 0:34
  metaphor in it. Of course.
• 0:36
We are talking about seeds and how you grow seeds.
• 0:40
So we, you know, it's that time of year we're growing is
• 0:44
happening, gardens are happening, flowers are growing.
• 0:47
We all go to the store and we pick up a package of seeds.
• 0:51
We go to the little round thing that spins, you know, the little
• 0:54
display, and we look at the seeds and see, OK, let me see
• 0:58
which one looks appealing to me. And there's all different kinds.
• 1:02
You could grow food, you could grow flowers, whatever it might
• 1:05
be. You pick out your seed and you
• 1:09
recognize that there was some appeal in the packaging to this.
• 1:13
OK, Package looks great. You see the potential because
• 1:17
the package is the potential. Really important here.
• 1:20
The package is the potential. It looks beautiful.
• 1:23
Whatever's on there, you like, I want to grow that.
• 1:26
  OK, great. Come home.
• 1:29
And you get really excited. You figure about where you're
• 1:32
going to plant. At least I get really excited
• 1:34
when I plant seeds, and I usually go to the store and I go
• 1:37
buy one package of seeds. I probably buy, I don't know,
• 1:40
  hundreds of packages. Of seeds.
• 1:42
I have a bit of an issue with it.
• 1:43
But anyway, you get your your package, you come home and you
• 1:47
sit down, you read the back of the package and it gives you all
• 1:51
the instructions on how to make this grow.
• 1:54
In fact, it usually gives you a, a, a sprout rate even it will
• 1:58
tell you out of 100 seeds, you'll have 80 that will sprout.
• 2:03
So you know, there's a failure rate in there.
• 2:06
You understand that. OK, I need to put this in the
• 2:09
right conditions. This seed like sandy soil, this
• 2:11
seed likes to be in Lumi soil. This seed likes to feel like it
• 2:16
is wet often more than the dry seeds.
• 2:19
Just depends. Every, every seed has its own
• 2:22
condition. Every plant has its own
• 2:23
condition in which it thrives. Sun shade, all of it.
• 2:27
And there's all these little codes on the back of the
• 2:29
package, which is so cool because you have all the
• 2:31
instructions for success. Don't you wish we had that for
• 2:34
life? Like we were just handed a
• 2:35
little package and here you go. It's all the all the
• 2:38
instructions for success are right there.
• 2:40
So you take that seed and what happens next?
• 2:45
You go out and you find the conditions in which it should
• 2:47
go. And you put it in the ground and
• 2:50
you cover it up. And that seed then does what it
• 2:55
does. And we wait and we wait and we
• 3:00
wait and we wait and we're patient.
• 3:05
We're saying, OK, this is going to come up.
• 3:07
This is going to come up. I can't wait to see what it is.
• 3:09
I can't wait to see what this is.
• 3:11
And we're like super, super patient about it.
• 3:13
Most of us are anyway. We're super patient about it.
• 3:17
And I know sometimes we're not though, because I just did a
• 3:21
huge flower garden, grew lots of different things that I didn't
• 3:24
know what they were going to look like when they came up.
• 3:26
And some of them I was like, OK, I can't even pull the weeds
• 3:30
because I don't even know what this flower is going to look
• 3:32
like when it comes up. So I had to be patient.
• 3:33
And boy, for me, that is a huge test because I don't always have
• 3:37
patience when it comes to stuff like that.
• 3:38
If I'm being creative and I'm doing stuff, I want to see the
• 3:41
results, but I had to be patient.
• 3:42
But anyway, back to our story of the seeds.
• 3:45
So it's in the ground, it's dark, it's damp, and it's on its
• 3:52
own. And that seed in that condition
• 3:56
is transforming. But think about the conditions
• 4:00
in which it's transforming. It's dark, like I said, it's
• 4:05
  enclosed tightly. It's alone.
• 4:08
It's in there, wet, damp. Not doesn't sound very pleasant,
• 4:14
does it? But it's transforming into that
• 4:17
picture, that pure potential that you saw on the package when
• 4:21
you bought it. But it's not pleasant inside the
• 4:25
ground. It's just, you know, it's
• 4:27
becoming something else. And it has to work really hard
• 4:30
because think about it, that seed is in case it's really
• 4:32
hard. And if you had pushed on that
• 4:34
with your fingers when you first got it, you know, seeds are
• 4:37
  hard. There's a protective coating.
• 4:39
And that life force that is inside that seed has to work its
• 4:43
little butt off to come out of that shell.
• 4:46
In fact, sometimes seeds won't even come out unless you soak
• 4:49
them ahead of time. I have some plants that are
• 4:52
absolutely gorgeous that are, it's called the caliandra.
• 4:56
And if I don't soak those seeds for 48 hours ahead of time,
• 5:00
nothing shows up. They have to be soaked in water
• 5:03
for 48 hours. They literally have to drown in
• 5:06
water for 48 hours to penetrate the outside of that shell.
• 5:09
Seeds are hard, so you put them in the ground and they have to
• 5:13
work their butts off. And the lesson in this for us as
• 5:17
human beings is that transforming into that pure
• 5:22
potential that's on the package is not easy.
• 5:25
And it takes work and it takes commitment, and it takes going
• 5:30
in and doing what you need to do from the standpoint of being
• 5:36
focused on it. And once you make that
• 5:38
commitment, once you plant yourself in the ground, if you
• 5:41
will, with your commitment, you stay focused on doing the work
• 5:46
that you need to do. And that work is an inside job.
• 5:50
Just like that little seed coming out of that shell, it is
• 5:54
an inside job. Sure, you have to do outside
• 5:57
things too. But the work that you do on the
• 5:59
inside, the work that pushes you mentally, the work that puts you
• 6:04
in a place where you stay focused, happy, intent, keeping
• 6:09
your energy aligned to where you want to go is some of the
• 6:13
hardest work that you will ever, ever, ever, ever do in your
• 6:16
life. Yet it is the work of greatness.
• 6:19
It's the work that makes you go from who you where you are right
• 6:23
now to where you want to be and who you are to who you want to
• 6:27
be. It takes you all the way over.
• 6:30
And it's not always just tasks, my friends.
• 6:33
It's about that transformation. Just like a seed going in the
• 6:37
ground into a scary place, into a committed place of being.
• 6:42
Like, OK, I'm here. And sometimes you got to do it
• 6:45
by yourself. Sometimes you got to be that
• 6:47
little seed. More often than not, you got to
• 6:50
be the little seed. But the wonderful thing is when
• 6:53
you commit to it and you make the decision and you do the
• 6:57
actions, that pure potential that was on the outside of the
• 7:01
package shows up. When you put yourself in the
• 7:04
right conditions, when you understand what you need, when
• 7:07
you go along in the process and you trust that it's going to
• 7:12
work, it works. So part of your process is being
• 7:16
here and learning different things, keeping your perspective
• 7:19
clean, asking better questions. That's the like planting
• 7:23
yourself in the right soil. So today as you head out there
• 7:26
into the world, make sure that you are being the seed.
• 7:30
Make sure that you are not quitting on yourself.
• 7:33
Make sure that you understand you are asking the right
• 7:36
questions to set yourself up for the pure potential that's on the
• 7:40
outside of that package because I believe in it.
• 7:42
Otherwise, I wouldn't be here doing this podcast and setting
• 7:45
out all this these messages out to you guys.
• 7:48
Believe in yourself, take in the right information, and watch the
• 7:51
transformation happen. So have fun growing today.
• 7:55
My friends and I will see you tomorrow.
