- 0:11Speaker 1: Insurance did true, I'm a check out both Assurance, Get
- 0:15Speaker 1: up things wait the autulst.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Thank you. Well, Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm your host, Adam Todd Brown joining me as guest
- 0:40Speaker 2: co host this week, comedian Jen Scott's here. How's it going?
- 0:44Speaker 1: Hello, it's going. I'm excited to be here. And I
- 0:49Speaker 1: do feel as though our other podcast was what led
- 0:52Speaker 1: to this.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yes, we host a podcast on the you Don't Even
- 0:58Speaker 2: Like Podcast network called Who's on OX WHOA, which is
- 1:03Speaker 2: about music bands songs that were into at the moment.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And you brought up the K pop group Big Bang,
- 1:13Speaker 2: who just reunited at Coachella minus one sex creep.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And another person who hates the sex creep. Oh oh yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 1: the band went from five to three because top would
- 1:27Speaker 1: never come back after the scandal.
- 1:28Speaker 2: That makes sense kind of it. Also, it's an unfortunate
- 1:32Speaker 2: name for a band that's also got a sex scandal
- 1:36Speaker 2: under their belt. Big Bang Yep.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah it really is. Also, if we're gonna get weird
- 1:40Speaker 1: about it really quick with the names, I do believe
- 1:43Speaker 1: that BTS may be named as a reaction to Big
- 1:46Speaker 1: Bang because BTS stands for in some weird Korean way,
- 1:51Speaker 1: the bang Tan Boys, which means the bulletproof Boys. Oh so,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I think that they're like Big Bang failed at international
- 1:59Speaker 1: fame and making a good name for K pop.
- 2:01Speaker 3: We're gonna be bulletproof.
- 2:02Speaker 1: We're gonna be so good that nobody could ever interesting. Yes,
- 2:07Speaker 1: Bang Bang Bang.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Bang Bang Bang. So we're talking about something called the
- 2:12Speaker 2: Burning Sun Scandal, which, for sensationalism reasons, I have in
- 2:19Speaker 2: the title that this is kind of Korea's Epstein Files.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And I'm mostly saying that because I saw a YouTube video.
- 2:27Speaker 2: All the other text was in Korean, like the description
- 2:30Speaker 2: and everything, but just the title said the Epstein Files
- 2:35Speaker 2: America's Burning Sun Scandal.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That's so funny because to compare them is just wild.
- 2:42Speaker 1: You know, I thought it was at first, but no,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's not.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I think the only thing the Epstein Scandal has on this,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and I don't know why I'm calling it the Epstein scandal.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It was fucking we know it happened. It was a fucking.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Operation ongoing problem. It's a ki it's a known issue.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The thing I think Epstein has over this is it
- 3:06Speaker 2: seems like it carried on for longer, which makes that
- 3:10Speaker 2: probably a little more heinous, but this is real fucking bad,
- 3:14Speaker 2: This Burning Sun scandal.
- 3:16Speaker 3: This stuff is really bad.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Like I don't want to say. At first, I thought
- 3:20Speaker 2: it was just a revenge porn kind of thing, because
- 3:24Speaker 2: revenge porn in and of itself is like, that's sexual assault. Obviously,
- 3:29Speaker 2: that is a crime. It is a very bad thing.
- 3:31Speaker 2: But this goes well beyond that. This gets into just
- 3:35Speaker 2: straight up kidnapping women and giving them to rich people.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It's big time sex trafficking. And I will say on
- 3:43Speaker 1: like what I was saying about comparing them being crazy,
- 3:46Speaker 1: like that YouTube video title that you saw, I don't
- 3:49Speaker 1: actually think it's crazy, but I think the way that
- 3:51Speaker 1: it was internationally reported on comparing them feels crazy from
- 3:56Speaker 1: an American perspective.
- 3:57Speaker 3: And I think the.
- 3:59Speaker 1: More we learn about it, the more it is very
- 4:03Speaker 1: similar and very big bad and very not even being
- 4:07Speaker 1: able to scratch the surface level with just any If
- 4:11Speaker 1: any one piece of media is all you know about something,
- 4:14Speaker 1: there's probably so much you don't know.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Basically, Yeah, I think the other thing this doesn't involve minors,
- 4:23Speaker 2: like we don't know Epstein files. Yeah, we don't know.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That's what I will say. Korea did a way better
- 4:28Speaker 1: job of protecting victims.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I feel, Yes, that does not surprise me at all. Yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 2: and they did a decent job prosecuting people. Actually, no,
- 4:38Speaker 2: they didn't. I don't think anyone in this got enough
- 4:41Speaker 2: jail time.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, well, yeah, we'll get to it.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So the Burning Sun scandal, it was a sex abuse
- 4:49Speaker 2: in sex trafficking scandal involving some of the biggest K
- 4:54Speaker 2: pop stars in the game at the time. There is
- 4:57Speaker 2: a really good BBC documentary this that you can watch
- 5:01Speaker 2: for free on YouTube.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Will link to that, and it's only an hour and
- 5:05Speaker 1: it goes so in depth that after the hour, you're like,
- 5:09Speaker 1: holy shit, how was that only an hour?
- 5:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a Beatles song or an old sixties
- 5:15Speaker 2: pop song in that way where there's a lot going on,
- 5:17Speaker 2: and then you're like, that was only two and a
- 5:19Speaker 2: half minutes long. Jesus Christ.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's crazy. And like I had known about
- 5:24Speaker 1: the Burning Sun scandal before from just being a K
- 5:27Speaker 1: pop fan and that it like ruined Big Bang because
- 5:29Speaker 1: I loved Big Bang, But I did not have any
- 5:33Speaker 1: idea the levels of this thing.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's intense. They talked to a few different journalists
- 5:42Speaker 2: the first one they talked to a woman named Kang
- 5:46Speaker 2: q Mune, who they just called journalist Kang from that
- 5:49Speaker 2: point on, as will we This is a quote from her.
- 5:53Speaker 2: The more I work in this field, the more I
- 5:55Speaker 2: see the bottom of the pit society's true face. People.
- 5:59Speaker 2: She is an entertainment journalist in Korea.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Dude, this woman is fucking a hero man.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, especially when you take into account how K pop
- 6:12Speaker 2: fans reacted to the reporting on this like they were
- 6:16Speaker 2: people were getting death threats.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I need you guys to know that k idols hold
- 6:21Speaker 1: so much power that it is a different level of
- 6:25Speaker 1: celebrity than what we are comfortable with in the United States.
- 6:28Speaker 1: If you saw a celebrity or heard a celebrity was
- 6:31Speaker 1: dating somebody, you would be like, oh cool. In Korea,
- 6:37Speaker 1: they cannot know where you are or you'll get swarmed,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and you can never ever say who you'd be dating
- 6:45Speaker 1: publicly because they'll get killed because people are so obsessed
- 6:49Speaker 1: with you.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I also, I wonder if people realize how seriously they
- 6:55Speaker 2: take drug use among K pop idols. The YouTube comments
- 7:01Speaker 2: just on this documentary that we link to, there's a
- 7:04Speaker 2: bunch of people who are like this, dude, still has
- 7:06Speaker 2: a career. And meanwhile, so and so is just out
- 7:11Speaker 2: of a job forever because he did cocaine once. Yep,
- 7:14Speaker 2: that's how it works. You get caught doing drugs. It
- 7:17Speaker 2: is a way bigger scandal than what happened here.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yep. That is not a pro drug culture at all.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And meanwhile, I remember hearing Miley Cyrus got high at
- 7:27Speaker 2: Coachella in like twenty fifteen. I was like, that's cool.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. It's so different culturally. Korea's very strict in
- 7:37Speaker 1: a lot of ways about the perception of like the
- 7:42Speaker 1: pride you bring to your work, especially, and so if
- 7:45Speaker 1: you've been like chosen to be a k idol and
- 7:48Speaker 1: gone through the idol programs and gotten this far just
- 7:52Speaker 1: to do drugs, it's like deeply insulting to their culture.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and you see it with the fan base. K
- 8:00Speaker 2: pop has a rabid fan base and they will turn
- 8:05Speaker 2: on a motherfucker.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It's like worse than Swifties. I'm gonna be real with you.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's a whole other level. There's a reason
- 8:13Speaker 2: you hear about Korean pop stars killing themselves.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yes a lot.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Spoiler trigger warning, Yeah, trigger warning.
- 8:22Speaker 1: There is definitely suicide in this.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yep, yep, And it ain't the dudes, I'll tell you
- 8:28Speaker 2: that much. So a lot of this centers around something
- 8:32Speaker 2: that in Korea they call molka. It's basically what we
- 8:37Speaker 2: call revenge porn sort of.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's like any filming of a woman without
- 8:43Speaker 1: her knowing.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yes, and that's what a lot of this centers around.
- 8:48Speaker 2: It seems like it is a very pervasive thing in Korea.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that a lot of it probably comes
- 8:55Speaker 1: from like I know that at least in Japan on
- 8:59Speaker 1: the trains. It's a different country, but there's a lot
- 9:01Speaker 1: of different influences of Korea that comes from Japan and
- 9:05Speaker 1: from America.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I think that that's who they're the most influenced by.
- 9:09Speaker 1: And I think that in Japan there's a lot of
- 9:12Speaker 1: problems with upskirting on trains and stuff like that, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: like taking videos like and I think that in Korea
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's a really drinking culture, and so women being drunk
- 9:23Speaker 1: and under the influence a lot of times will lead
- 9:26Speaker 1: to molka because they'll just be passed out.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I think we would call it like revenge porn,
- 9:32Speaker 2: blackmail something like that.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's not even like I think that here
- 9:36Speaker 1: you'd have to distribute it, and I think that they're
- 9:39Speaker 1: even if you have possession of it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it it's the threat of distributing it,
- 9:45Speaker 2: because it's one thing to have a naked picture of
- 9:50Speaker 2: your girlfriend on your phone, like lots of people have that,
- 9:53Speaker 2: but to show her and be like, hey, I took
- 9:55Speaker 2: this without your consent, and I'll ruin your fucking life
- 9:57Speaker 2: and show it to everyone if you wrong me in
- 10:01Speaker 2: any way. Yeah, And they didn't really get into the
- 10:06Speaker 2: numbers in terms of how common this is in Korea,
- 10:11Speaker 2: but they do reassure us at the end of this
- 10:13Speaker 2: documentary that despite all of the attention this scandal got,
- 10:18Speaker 2: this is a thing that has started happening more in
- 10:21Speaker 2: Korea since then, which is horrifying. So the journalist who
- 10:26Speaker 2: first broke the story, Journalist Park, She wrote about this
- 10:31Speaker 2: allegation that a K pop star had been accused of
- 10:33Speaker 2: sexual assault in twenty sixteen, Young June Young. The tip
- 10:37Speaker 2: she got was that he had secretly filmed his girlfriend
- 10:40Speaker 2: and threatened to distribute the videos. Like we just talked about,
- 10:45Speaker 2: She claimed she caught him doing it and she went
- 10:49Speaker 2: to the police. He ends up being questioned by the police,
- 10:52Speaker 2: and this is where shit gets really shady. They asked
- 10:56Speaker 2: for his phone and he's like, no, actually, my lawyer
- 10:59Speaker 2: took my phone to an independent lab and they're gonna
- 11:04Speaker 2: examine the phone and then they'll let you.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Know, which like, no, that's not how that goes.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Correct, but it is exactly how it went.
- 11:14Speaker 1: The other day, I was in a parking lot and
- 11:17Speaker 1: I parked definitely closer than where everyone else parked because
- 11:21Speaker 1: we were on a motorcycle, and the guy was like, no,
- 11:24Speaker 1: you can go that way, and we just went we're
- 11:26Speaker 1: gonna go to the front, and like we did. That's
- 11:30Speaker 1: exactly what he did. They were like, you gotta go
- 11:32Speaker 1: this way. He went no, I'm gonna do this, like okay.
- 11:37Speaker 2: And so they send it off to this lab and
- 11:40Speaker 2: the lab is like there's nothing. There's nothing to see,
- 11:43Speaker 2: and the police are just like, okay, well, this guy's
- 11:46Speaker 2: a pretty upstanding citizen. He is a Kpop idol after all,
- 11:50Speaker 2: so nothing to see here. So this journalist who did
- 11:54Speaker 2: all this work to report on this now looks like
- 11:57Speaker 2: an asshole because the police are like, no, we looked
- 12:00Speaker 2: into this. It's an unfounded claim, which they didn't right,
- 12:05Speaker 2: And that is another thing you see a lot in
- 12:08Speaker 2: this scandal is police collusion.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Surprise, surprise, Yeah, go figure, some things remain true internationally.
- 12:18Speaker 2: There's at least one cop who was directly involved in
- 12:21Speaker 2: this who is named throughout a bunch of these files,
- 12:26Speaker 2: which we'll talk about the files in a second. So
- 12:29Speaker 2: there is a recording of his lawyer talking to this
- 12:34Speaker 2: lab that they sent the phone to, and this comes
- 12:38Speaker 2: out way after he's exonerated, after this journalist has gotten
- 12:42Speaker 2: all of this heat for this shit. There's a recording
- 12:44Speaker 2: where his lawyer is on the phone with this lab
- 12:47Speaker 2: that they sent the phone to, and he's like, listen,
- 12:50Speaker 2: we don't care if you can actually recover the data,
- 12:54Speaker 2: but the police told us it would be best if
- 12:57Speaker 2: you just say you can't recover the day. So then
- 13:01Speaker 2: this all goes away, and the question is did the
- 13:03Speaker 2: police really tell them that? And it seems like.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Probably probably yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 2: And either way, shady business. But this guy gets away
- 13:12Speaker 2: with it. Yeah, so his phone was never checked by
- 13:18Speaker 2: the police. He goes public and is like, I've been
- 13:21Speaker 2: wrongly accused. He doesn't tell his fans to start attacking
- 13:25Speaker 2: this journalist, but they sure as shit do. Of course
- 13:27Speaker 2: they go hard. We find out some pretty fucking devastating
- 13:31Speaker 2: news about this point in her life later on.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Uh yeah, No. K pop fans are so ruthless.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It's like on a god level.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It's like if they can't believe in the person they
- 13:43Speaker 1: are such a huge fan of, then they don't believe
- 13:46Speaker 1: in anything, and it like shatters their reality, so they
- 13:48Speaker 1: have to fight for it. That's kind of how I
- 13:50Speaker 1: felt about Biebercella, to be honest with you, when everyone
- 13:52Speaker 1: was like there to see him and his performance was
- 13:56Speaker 1: fucking mid at best, and all the girls the next
- 13:58Speaker 1: day being like it was emotional experience for me, I
- 14:01Speaker 1: loved it. I was like, they have to think that
- 14:03Speaker 1: because they went through all this shit just to see him.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it. I don't know that it always
- 14:08Speaker 2: rises to the level of a cult. But you see
- 14:12Speaker 2: the same thing with Trump supporters, where right, there's not
- 14:16Speaker 2: really anything he can do, Like a certain percentage of
- 14:20Speaker 2: Trump supporters, like the ones who are still supporting him, Yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 2: there's nothing he can do.
- 14:25Speaker 1: The people who are still supporting Kanye.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, like what are you doing? There comes a point
- 14:32Speaker 2: where if your fandom turns into like your identity where
- 14:37Speaker 2: you're like, well, this is who I am. I am
- 14:39Speaker 2: a fan of this person. It's like, shit, that's your
- 14:42Speaker 2: whole personality. Huh. It's gonna be hard to have that questioned,
- 14:46Speaker 2: Like you're not gonna want to be like, oh well
- 14:48Speaker 2: this was wrong, this was a bad choice. You see
- 14:51Speaker 2: it everywhere.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Yeah, people are not willing to restructure their beliefs if
- 14:58Speaker 1: it has become their identity. And I feel like some
- 15:02Speaker 1: fandoms get to that level, and it's just like, your
- 15:05Speaker 1: identity does not have to be this person that you're
- 15:07Speaker 1: a fan of.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it shouldn't be. It shouldn't.
- 15:11Speaker 1: No, if any one thing is your identity, you should
- 15:14Speaker 1: question that one thing.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yep. Absolutely. So Yung's phone is never checked by the police,
- 15:20Speaker 2: but a copy of his phone data was made and
- 15:24Speaker 2: a few years later someone leaked that data to be
- 15:29Speaker 2: first journalist we mentioned journalist Kang and it contained this
- 15:34Speaker 2: guy's cocaw talk messages. Ka ka o. I know the
- 15:40Speaker 2: notification goes cut up because I am married to a
- 15:44Speaker 2: Korean woman.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Oh right, so she uses that.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I don't know if she does. We're not a notifications
- 15:50Speaker 2: on kind of household.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I assume it's like WhatsApp.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a messaging app that's big in Korea.
- 15:58Speaker 2: A lot of Korean people use it, And these messages
- 16:01Speaker 2: showed he was in a group chat with a bunch
- 16:04Speaker 2: of other k bros where they just openly talked about
- 16:09Speaker 2: drugging and raping women. And in CASEHA didn't believe them,
- 16:14Speaker 2: there are also videos of them doing it in these
- 16:18Speaker 2: chat messages.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Which insane, Like why and.
- 16:23Speaker 2: What really sucks about this? I mean obvious, like so
- 16:26Speaker 2: many things suck, but these are entertainers whose fan bases
- 16:30Speaker 2: are primarily women.
- 16:32Speaker 4: They could really fuck anybody, yeah, not just that, but
- 16:36Speaker 4: also have some fucking respect. Literally, this is who is
- 16:41Speaker 4: putting all that fucking money in your pocket, this is
- 16:44Speaker 4: who's making you famous, and this is the fucking respect
- 16:48Speaker 4: they get in return, like God always.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Also feels like to me like the men that would
- 16:54Speaker 5: need the least amount of coercion are doing it just
- 16:59Speaker 5: to do it, like it's a power thing exclusively, Like
- 17:01Speaker 5: these boys.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Did not need to do this. Yeah, like not that
- 17:06Speaker 1: anyone needs to, but you know what I mean, it's
- 17:07Speaker 1: not like they were like at a loss for pussy.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean even doing it once ain't cool.
- 17:14Speaker 1: No, nobody needs to do it. But you know what
- 17:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like they were like coming from
- 17:18Speaker 1: a place of scarcity.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a pretty famous story this NFL player, Darren Sharper.
- 17:24Speaker 2: He was great. He was like, really fucking good at
- 17:28Speaker 2: his position. He was a defensive back, played in the
- 17:31Speaker 2: NFL a long time, retired, was still fucking young and handsome,
- 17:37Speaker 2: was doing TV shit, and then went to prison because
- 17:41Speaker 2: it turned out he had for years just been drugging
- 17:44Speaker 2: and raping women he would go on dates with. And
- 17:47Speaker 2: it's like, you're a fucking NFL player, that date's probably
- 17:50Speaker 2: gonna go the way you want.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Bro.
- 17:53Speaker 2: If it doesn't, just fucking try again with someone else.
- 17:57Speaker 1: How fucking scared of failure?
- 17:59Speaker 2: Are you?
- 17:59Speaker 1: That?
- 17:59Speaker 3: You're drug people?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 18:01Speaker 2: But see, I think it's what you said. I think
- 18:04Speaker 2: that's part of it. I think it's the power dynamic
- 18:07Speaker 2: and like it's not enough to just oh, well, I'm
- 18:11Speaker 2: gonna have sex with this woman. It's like the drugging
- 18:14Speaker 2: and like kidnapping sort of aspect has to be part
- 18:18Speaker 2: of the thrill. And god, that's grim so nasty. Yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 2: I don't know how you get to a point where
- 18:24Speaker 2: it's like, I can't come if I'm not kidnapping someone
- 18:27Speaker 2: like Jesus God.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and also you're not being like maybe I should
- 18:32Speaker 1: think harder about this.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So there's another name that comes up in this.
- 18:38Speaker 2: There's kind of four big perpetrators in this, if you
- 18:42Speaker 2: count the right Yeah, if you count the cop. Also
- 18:47Speaker 2: Troy Jong Hum, who was lead guitarist for a group
- 18:52Speaker 2: called ft Island.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I don't know why I laughed at that. It's just
- 18:55Speaker 3: such a silly name.
- 18:57Speaker 2: They showed him just absolutely shredding a guitar and the
- 19:00Speaker 2: first thing I thought was, look at this dork.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I had never listened to FT Island. I
- 19:06Speaker 1: was like, who had?
- 19:08Speaker 2: Like it looked like he was on stage shred Neriyani
- 19:11Speaker 2: concert or something like. It didn't look like the right
- 19:15Speaker 2: kind of vibes for that. So yeah, I don't know
- 19:17Speaker 2: anything about ft Island, but I do know this guy
- 19:20Speaker 2: is a super duper sex creep.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And then there's song re we Hate Him. He was
- 19:27Speaker 2: the biggest star implicated in this huge solo star and
- 19:31Speaker 2: the Star as a member of the group Big Bang.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It has since been rumored and pretty much fact that
- 19:39Speaker 1: the other four members of Big Bang did not want
- 19:42Speaker 1: him in Big Bang from the jump, and the production
- 19:45Speaker 1: company placed him in Big Bang.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Essentially, he seems like a legitimately awful person.
- 19:53Speaker 1: He is no one Like there's so many clips of
- 19:55Speaker 1: them when they were together, like intentionally not being near him,
- 19:59Speaker 1: or like not wanting to like joke around with him
- 20:03Speaker 1: in the way that they would joke around with each other,
- 20:04Speaker 1: like they did not fuck with him.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And if anyone is the Epstein of this, it's him.
- 20:12Speaker 1: He sucks so hard.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah. He at one point described himself as the Jay
- 20:19Speaker 2: Gatsby of Korea.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Which if anyone is comparing themselves two jay gats be run.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, add it to the list
- 20:29Speaker 2: what Jen just said, along with if anyone is discussing
- 20:34Speaker 2: their life philosophy and they bring up the Matrix or
- 20:38Speaker 2: Hunter s Thompson, yep, yep, Hunter s Thompson, anyone who
- 20:42Speaker 2: likes Hunter s Thompson a little too much.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Anyone who's bringing up Hunter s Thompson in a regard
- 20:49Speaker 1: that is not haha, what a dork.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, or what an ass.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I think that guy's prolific.
- 20:55Speaker 2: That guy called his wife to commit suicide, like he
- 20:58Speaker 2: made sure he was on.
- 20:59Speaker 1: His on the I don't even know that one. He's
- 21:02Speaker 1: such a fucking loser. I really don't think that anyone
- 21:05Speaker 1: has ever been a bigger loser.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I fucking hate unrest.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Thompson is writing his ass. Also, he thinks I have
- 21:12Speaker 1: a joke about this. I'm not gonna get into it.
- 21:15Speaker 2: So, yeah, the Jay Gatsby of Korea sunks me, and
- 21:21Speaker 2: I think he calls himself that.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, that took me a second to remember that.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Journalist Kang starts going through the phone data and she
- 21:29Speaker 2: finds some horrifying and highly incriminating shit. When I say
- 21:35Speaker 2: this song Refella was the epstein of this. She describes
- 21:40Speaker 2: what he was doing as using women to get investments
- 21:45Speaker 2: from wealthy people.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Unnamed wealthy investors.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yes, and I think we call that sex trafficking.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We sure do. And also it sounds almost exactly like
- 21:58Speaker 1: what we're dealing with here.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And even if that on the surface doesn't sound like
- 22:05Speaker 2: it reaches the level of sex trafficking, just wait, we'll
- 22:08Speaker 2: get there.
- 22:08Speaker 1: You wait.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So one batch of messages talks about them inviting a
- 22:13Speaker 2: bunch of women on a skiing trip and it includes
- 22:17Speaker 2: videos of them assaulting these women when they're unconscious. It
- 22:22Speaker 2: includes chats about them bragging about it to each other.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Of course there's police collusion. We talked about that. The
- 22:30Speaker 2: Gangnam district comes up a lot. Everyone's heard that phrase
- 22:34Speaker 2: Gangam style because of Si.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it is a neighborhood with like all the nightlife
- 22:40Speaker 1: in Korea, all this sketchy nightlife.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, as sketchy as nightlife gets, yes, Korea, which
- 22:48Speaker 2: seems pretty sketchy if you're a woman, if nothing else.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And Songri is trying to become a club owner in
- 22:58Speaker 2: the Gangnam district. But he wants to be like the
- 23:00Speaker 2: biggest club owner.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he wants to have big dick energy with his
- 23:05Speaker 1: little club, right.
- 23:06Speaker 2: And within days of opening his first club, he starts
- 23:12Speaker 2: filming himself raping women in that club, like immediately.
- 23:17Speaker 1: It's like, seems like a bad business practice if you
- 23:19Speaker 1: ask me.
- 23:19Speaker 2: But yeah, and I want to say, I guess Diddy
- 23:23Speaker 2: would be a good comparison, but only in terms of
- 23:27Speaker 2: how big of a celebrity we're talking. Yeah, I don't
- 23:31Speaker 2: think their crimes are completely comparable.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I don't know. And also we don't need to compare
- 23:37Speaker 1: them to an American situation every time.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yes we do, we don't.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But okay, the name of the nightclub that he owned
- 23:45Speaker 1: is Burning Sun, by the way, and that's why it
- 23:47Speaker 1: is called the Burning Sun's Aunt scandal.
- 23:49Speaker 2: But this was before Burning Sun. He had a nightclub before.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Oh, this was a different one. Yes, okay, I forgot
- 23:56Speaker 1: that part.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Sorry, And that was twenty sixteen.
- 24:00Speaker 1: That's like peak Big Bang by the way. I will
- 24:02Speaker 1: say that. Say you're in the biggest K pop band
- 24:05Speaker 1: in the world. I feel as though that is a
- 24:07Speaker 1: strange time to be Like, time to open a nightclub
- 24:11Speaker 1: kind of just seems like you'd be busy.
- 24:13Speaker 2: And with all the hubbub around drug use. Yeah, we're
- 24:17Speaker 2: just assuming there's no that's cute. You're assuming they're not
- 24:19Speaker 2: using drugs in that nightclub in the Gangnum district.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Come on, just innocent stuff, oh my, just dancing and singing.
- 24:27Speaker 2: So we find out that around this time, the journalist
- 24:31Speaker 2: who reported on this the first time was pregnant at
- 24:35Speaker 2: the time and ended up getting so much stress and
- 24:39Speaker 2: death threats that she suffered two miscarriages mm.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Hmm, and now can't have children.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Right, So that's the kind of fandom we're talking about
- 24:48Speaker 2: here ruin.
- 24:50Speaker 1: This poor woman's life. So sad.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it goes beyond. Will turn off your notifications like
- 24:56Speaker 2: it's it's worse than that, Yeah, it's much worse. Meanwhile,
- 25:00Speaker 2: sung Ree becomes the face of tender in Korea.
- 25:04Speaker 1: The worst that I forgot about that. That shit was
- 25:07Speaker 1: so fucking bad, but ha funny.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Yeah, And this is after he's already started filming himself
- 25:16Speaker 2: assaulting women at his first night club, and this is
- 25:19Speaker 2: when he decides he wants to open Burning Sun in
- 25:23Speaker 2: twenty seventeen. So he decides he needs investors, so he
- 25:27Speaker 2: does what one does in that situation and throws a
- 25:30Speaker 2: huge birthday bash in the Philippines and invites a bunch
- 25:34Speaker 2: of wealthy people and for some reason also brings a
- 25:38Speaker 2: dozen or so young women from Korea to this party.
- 25:42Speaker 2: And the implication is he's basically trafficking these women to
- 25:49Speaker 2: these dudes in exchange for investments in his nightclubs. And
- 25:54Speaker 2: it turns out it's not just that that's what he
- 25:58Speaker 2: was doing to get in vestments. That's kind of how
- 26:01Speaker 2: the club worked because they catered to VIPs, people who
- 26:06Speaker 2: could obviously spend a bunch of money and tables were
- 26:12Speaker 2: anywhere from fifteen hundred dollars on a slow night to
- 26:15Speaker 2: as much as seventy five thousand or like holidays, major events,
- 26:20Speaker 2: shit like that. And they had people who worked there
- 26:22Speaker 2: called merchandizers. And what we find out is literally one
- 26:28Speaker 2: of these VIPs could go to a merchandizer and be like, Hey,
- 26:34Speaker 2: that girl, I want her, and the people at this
- 26:37Speaker 2: club would do what they needed to do to render
- 26:41Speaker 2: this girl unconscious, Spike her drinks, give her drugs, whatever,
- 26:45Speaker 2: and just deliver her to these VIPs who would put
- 26:49Speaker 2: her in a fucking car, take her somewhere and fucking raper.
- 26:53Speaker 2: They interview a woman it happened to she was at
- 26:56Speaker 2: a club and then just wakes up and she's in
- 26:59Speaker 2: some do ude's hotel room. So they were straight up
- 27:04Speaker 2: kidnapping women at this fucking club.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, women that were just like out, yeah, drinking like
- 27:11Speaker 1: not anyone they knew, just like completely anybody. Also, what
- 27:16Speaker 1: is so weird that I just realized when you were
- 27:18Speaker 1: saying VIPs is big bangs fandoms names are like VIPs,
- 27:23Speaker 1: Like you're like how yeah, Like BTS's army mean like
- 27:30Speaker 1: military twice has the worst one it's once anyways, that
- 27:36Speaker 1: was just some random K pop canonic weirdness.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Put it in your K pop files, everybody. Yeah, so
- 27:43Speaker 2: even more grim, there was a room deep inside the club,
- 27:48Speaker 2: a private room where VIPs could just take a woman
- 27:53Speaker 2: drug her. A bunch of guards would stand out side
- 27:56Speaker 2: and make sure no one disturbed them. They talked to
- 27:59Speaker 2: a form employee who was like that shit happened every day,
- 28:03Speaker 2: Like I saw it every day at this club. So
- 28:06Speaker 2: this goes beyond just oh, this guy filmed his girlfriend
- 28:10Speaker 2: naked and now he's using it as revenge or blackmail.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Way beyond he was truly a part of a sex
- 28:19Speaker 1: trafficking ring.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yeah, this is everything except murder as far as we know.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Also, I can't stress to you enough how dominate like
- 28:30Speaker 1: Big Bang was dominating in South Korea at this time,
- 28:33Speaker 1: like they I just looked up to see how many
- 28:36Speaker 1: songs they had charting. I believe during this time the
- 28:39Speaker 1: top four songs in Korea period during this time were
- 28:44Speaker 1: all Big Bang songs. Nobody could even compete like they
- 28:47Speaker 1: were dominating. And to be like time to buy a nightclub?
- 28:51Speaker 1: What how are you not so busy? Imagine if like
- 28:55Speaker 1: you found out Sabrina Carpenter was doing this, Like that's
- 28:59Speaker 1: like a level of fan like fame that they were at.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and like how do you have the time? Like
- 29:06Speaker 2: I don't know, yeah, I So the woman they interview
- 29:10Speaker 2: that this happened to the guy forced her to take
- 29:13Speaker 2: a picture at the end before he would let her leave,
- 29:17Speaker 2: And that's how it worked. They would basically kidnap these
- 29:20Speaker 2: women for these VIPs. VIPs would take them off site,
- 29:24Speaker 2: do whatever they wanted, force them to take this picture,
- 29:27Speaker 2: and then if the woman went to the police, they
- 29:28Speaker 2: would go to the police and be like, no, it
- 29:30Speaker 2: was consensual. See we took this picture. And I guess
- 29:33Speaker 2: at no point where the police like how are all
- 29:36Speaker 2: of these pictures just that's so convenient.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I also think that they have so much plausible deniability
- 29:43Speaker 1: because it's so easy to be like, well, I'm just
- 29:47Speaker 1: the world's biggest celebrity. She's just trying to ruin me
- 29:50Speaker 1: because of the nature of K pop fans too.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Or if you're one of these VIPs, you're maybe not
- 29:56Speaker 2: necessarily a celebrity, but you're like I'm rich, she's trying
- 29:59Speaker 2: to get my money right.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Right, or like this this these K pop idols wouldn't
- 30:03Speaker 1: let this happen at their club, right.
- 30:06Speaker 2: They would put a stop to it. This guy's a
- 30:08Speaker 2: huge star.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Wow, they're upstanding citizens that we all chose to be
- 30:12Speaker 1: this famous. That's like kind of the vibe of it,
- 30:15Speaker 1: where it's like, these are our representatives.
- 30:19Speaker 2: We voted for this man.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 2: So things start to fall apart weirdly, not with a
- 30:26Speaker 2: video of a woman being assaulted, although that too, but
- 30:31Speaker 2: with a video of a dude just getting the shit
- 30:35Speaker 2: beat out of him outside the club while the police
- 30:39Speaker 2: just stand there and watch, just watch.
- 30:41Speaker 3: It's so weird and.
- 30:44Speaker 2: He's getting bucked up. Yeah, and we know that because whoops,
- 30:48Speaker 2: there was surveillance video and they managed to get their
- 30:51Speaker 2: hands on that surveillance video.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That is the thing. Also, they're being so fucking messy, yes,
- 30:58Speaker 1: or how much fucking evil crime they're doing being so messy?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they left all the evidence everywhere there because as
- 31:09Speaker 2: soon as that video comes out, two other videos surface
- 31:13Speaker 2: in rapid fire succession. First there's one that just shows
- 31:17Speaker 2: a guy clearly dragging an incapacitated woman out of the bar,
- 31:22Speaker 2: and it's like, who is that? Where they going? That
- 31:25Speaker 2: looks sketchy and then a video called the Red Bathroom
- 31:29Speaker 2: video surfaces, and unfortunately it surfaced on a porn site
- 31:35Speaker 2: because it is a video of a woman being assaulted
- 31:39Speaker 2: inside a bathroom at Burning Sun.
- 31:43Speaker 1: That in one of like the basement ass backrooms or whatever.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, those three videos kind of get the ball rolling
- 31:50Speaker 2: on bringing this all down. What do you think of
- 31:53Speaker 2: song Marin's apology from the stage, Oh it made me
- 31:57Speaker 2: so mad? Yeah, no remorse. The gist of his apology
- 32:03Speaker 2: is basically, I'm sorry I wasn't more humble.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Dude is a real villain.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yes, he's basically saying, you know what, I shouldn't have
- 32:12Speaker 2: gotten on those instant messages and bragged about all the
- 32:16Speaker 2: things I was doing. I need to be more humble
- 32:18Speaker 2: about stuff.
- 32:19Speaker 1: You guys really humbled me with calling me on my
- 32:22Speaker 1: illegal raping.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the best part of what you did
- 32:26Speaker 2: is being so fucking braggadocious about it because then people
- 32:30Speaker 2: found out, Like, I'm glad you weren't keeping it from
- 32:34Speaker 2: your friends, nasty, Like that's the least of what you
- 32:38Speaker 2: need to apologize for. But it works, It works.
- 32:42Speaker 1: He did like weirdly spin the narrative. He like sort
- 32:45Speaker 1: of takes accountability without actually taking any accountability.
- 32:49Speaker 2: It's so weird, and the whole time, there's also so
- 32:53Speaker 2: many people who are deflecting all of the blame to
- 32:58Speaker 2: the women involved in this.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yes, and being like, this reporter is crazy.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah, the reporter's crazy. The women are whores. They were like,
- 33:07Speaker 2: why are they said? Yeah, all that shit, all the
- 33:11Speaker 2: fucking classics, yeah, all the hits, they play them all.
- 33:15Speaker 2: We do find out the source of Songree's phone data
- 33:19Speaker 2: was a lawyer. Lawyer. Bang. We still don't know where
- 33:23Speaker 2: he got the I mean, he doesn't tell us where
- 33:25Speaker 2: he got him.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Oh, side note really quick. Anyone who ever is trying
- 33:29Speaker 1: to be like, oh, that can't be the case. Those
- 33:32Speaker 1: women are whores. They were drinking. It's like, so you
- 33:34Speaker 1: think that drunk horse should get raped. That's what you think?
- 33:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what insane? Okay, fucking insane. He claims that
- 33:43Speaker 2: someone just dropped these USB sticks with this phone data
- 33:48Speaker 2: anonymously in the mailboxes of his office. We don't know
- 33:52Speaker 2: if that's true or if he's just protecting the actual source.
- 33:56Speaker 2: But when all this stuff started coming out about burning Son,
- 34:00Speaker 2: he was like, all right, we gotta fucking leak this data.
- 34:04Speaker 2: And he does. He goes to journalist Kang. Journalist Kang,
- 34:09Speaker 2: lawyer Bang team up. They become Kabang. That's not mentioned
- 34:14Speaker 2: in the documentary.
- 34:15Speaker 3: I just know that's good though.
- 34:17Speaker 2: That's the crime fighting team nickname I gave him.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Dude. They really had to stick their necks out for
- 34:23Speaker 1: this shit, and nobody wanted to.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and it ends up costing some people. There is
- 34:29Speaker 2: a woman who comes forward, another K pop artist named Hara.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Goo, who seems like the coolest.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 1: She like came to Kang and was like, I want
- 34:39Speaker 1: to help you. Remember she said that she called her
- 34:41Speaker 1: journalist yeah or something like.
- 34:43Speaker 2: That, and she was like, yeah, I know these dudes,
- 34:47Speaker 2: what can I do to help? They're fucking creeps.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, because she had been like going through a mocha case.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Too, right, yes, the previous year. They show the video
- 34:57Speaker 2: and she finds out her boyfriend has filmed something of her.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And the video we see is her literally on the
- 35:04Speaker 2: ground begging him not to release it, and he's like
- 35:08Speaker 2: in an elevator or something, and uh, it's pretty fucking dark.
- 35:12Speaker 2: And so she reaches out to the lawyer and the
- 35:15Speaker 2: journalist Kabang.
- 35:17Speaker 1: She's like, how can I help.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Basically, yeah, she's like, what can I do to help?
- 35:21Speaker 2: And they're like, find out who the cop is in
- 35:25Speaker 2: these messages, like we've identified everyone else, but they just
- 35:29Speaker 2: keep mentioning a cop without saying his name.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Because Hara had like been an idol program with Choi, right,
- 35:37Speaker 1: she like knew him like as kids.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they had been friends as kids, and then we're
- 35:44Speaker 2: in the same idol program together, right, okay, And she
- 35:49Speaker 2: ends up getting Choi to talk and he tells her
- 35:53Speaker 2: the name of this cop, and so they end up
- 35:56Speaker 2: going public with the story. We find out the cop
- 36:00Speaker 2: used to be a cop, but he works at the
- 36:01Speaker 2: presidential residence. Now it's like, oh that's cool, yeah, great,
- 36:05Speaker 2: real cool. They published the story, police launch an investigation,
- 36:09Speaker 2: the cop who was identified in the chat messages loses
- 36:12Speaker 2: his job. Choi is arrested. Another victim reaches out after
- 36:17Speaker 2: this news breaks, and from there a bunch of victims
- 36:20Speaker 2: start coming out and are like, yep, I was raped
- 36:23Speaker 2: by these men. Also, protests start breaking out demanding justice
- 36:28Speaker 2: for these women. At least women protest demanding justice these women.
- 36:33Speaker 2: It becomes a really divisive thing where men are claiming
- 36:40Speaker 2: that these dudes are being unfairly targeted by feminists, which
- 36:45Speaker 2: what a crazy hill to want to die on.
- 36:48Speaker 1: This was actually my red flag for when I started
- 36:50Speaker 1: being like, this is all the same people as Epstein
- 36:53Speaker 1: and it's an international ring, because I learned that in
- 36:57Speaker 1: the current teaching of in cell averse is this principle
- 37:01Speaker 1: that it's not even like bros before hoes. It's like,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you will never say that any man did anything wrong,
- 37:09Speaker 1: even if they're convicted. You will never say they did
- 37:13Speaker 1: anything wrong. You will always try to find a way
- 37:16Speaker 1: to make it loop back to like, well, you know,
- 37:19Speaker 1: some bullshit excuse. It is a code that they take,
- 37:22Speaker 1: like even if you know you saw a man do
- 37:26Speaker 1: something horrible, you will never say they did anything wrong.
- 37:31Speaker 1: And think about the way politicians talk about each other.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Even if somebody is fucking doing horrible sex crimes and
- 37:39Speaker 1: blah blah blah, they will fucking still find a way
- 37:42Speaker 1: to talk around it. Yeah, that implies nothing about nobody.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and it especially if you're trying to influence a group.
- 37:51Speaker 2: It's a thing you see in cults where it's kind
- 37:55Speaker 2: of the point is to test people's logic in what
- 38:00Speaker 2: will they put up with? Like, yeah, if I tell them, No,
- 38:03Speaker 2: the sky is red. It looks blue to you, but
- 38:06Speaker 2: trust me, it's red. Are they actually gonna be like,
- 38:10Speaker 2: oh fuck yeah, it's red or are they gonna question me?
- 38:13Speaker 2: And that's how you weed people out, That's how you
- 38:16Speaker 2: figure out, like, all right, this is the fucking die hard.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I need more of them. And yeah, you see it
- 38:21Speaker 2: in so many fucking fields, so many areas of life. Politics, Yeah, ok, pop.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Fandom, the plot, I've been doing it lately. I'll like
- 38:29Speaker 1: bring up because like now it's like become kind of
- 38:31Speaker 1: a mainstream thing where I think it was like only
- 38:34Speaker 1: like elites doing it with each other before the whole
- 38:36Speaker 1: like no one can do any wrong in the manisphere situation.
- 38:41Speaker 1: But now I know that, like in cells are teaching
- 38:43Speaker 1: it to each other, And so I'll test it with
- 38:47Speaker 1: men and be like, this horrible guy did something wrong.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And if they say anything that isn't agreeing with that
- 38:52Speaker 1: he did something wrong. No.
- 38:54Speaker 2: No, So in the midst of all this, a friend
- 38:59Speaker 2: of Horror's takes her own life. It wasn't clear if
- 39:03Speaker 2: that happened related to this or if that was just
- 39:06Speaker 2: something that happened for some other reason.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I feel like it was related
- 39:11Speaker 1: to this. I feel like it was like she was
- 39:13Speaker 1: a victim or something, but I.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Don't remember either way. Haa does what literally everyone her
- 39:20Speaker 2: age does right now when something like that happens. She
- 39:24Speaker 2: got on Instagram and was like, hey, guys, I'm fucking
- 39:28Speaker 2: sad my friend died. And people start trolling the shit
- 39:33Speaker 2: out of her and are like, stop using your friend's
- 39:36Speaker 2: death for attention, And it's like, goddamn, why are you
- 39:39Speaker 2: even following this woman, Like it seems like you clean
- 39:43Speaker 2: fucking hate her. Just unfollow if that's the case, Like
- 39:47Speaker 2: it just like a scroll past. Yeah, get a fucking life,
- 39:51Speaker 2: Get an identity that doesn't involve being an asshole of
- 39:55Speaker 2: women on the internet. Jesus Christ. Yeah, but that's not possible.
- 40:00Speaker 2: So she gets bullied to the point that she takes
- 40:04Speaker 2: her life. Also, I feel like.
- 40:06Speaker 1: It was also that people were bullying her about speaking
- 40:10Speaker 1: up for women. I feel like that was the thing
- 40:12Speaker 1: they talked about that, Like, she was like openly pro
- 40:15Speaker 1: feminist and like was publicly standing with the protests that
- 40:20Speaker 1: were happening surrounding it. And I think that was part
- 40:22Speaker 1: of why her friend killed herself too.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't recall.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I might have.
- 40:26Speaker 3: I think I did outside research on that, but I
- 40:27Speaker 3: don't remember.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's pretty fucking grim.
- 40:30Speaker 1: It's so sad. This girl seems so cool and they
- 40:34Speaker 1: interview her brother.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Oh it's so sad.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fucking depressing. And then we get to the
- 40:41Speaker 2: sentencing and just remind her they were kidnapping women. They
- 40:45Speaker 2: were straight up abducting women, throwing them in cars and
- 40:48Speaker 2: taking them to strange hotel rooms. Keep that in mind
- 40:51Speaker 2: as we go through these sentences. The biggest sentence for
- 40:55Speaker 2: anyone that Yung Guy is sentenced to six years in prison.
- 41:00Speaker 2: And if there's a bright side, the journalist who initially
- 41:03Speaker 2: reported on him, who got fucking hated on and you know,
- 41:08Speaker 2: lost two pregnancies over it, she gets her reputation restored. Basically,
- 41:15Speaker 2: people are like, oh shit, my bad, you were right.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Huh yeah, sorry for threatening your life.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, sorry for just profoundly impacting the rest of
- 41:24Speaker 2: your life and your happiness and things are bad oopsie.
- 41:29Speaker 2: So yeah, he gets sentenced to six years in prison.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Choi is sentenced two years. The cop was acquitted of
- 41:36Speaker 2: all charges, and Sung re the song ring leader of
- 41:42Speaker 2: all of this is sentenced to eighteen months in prison.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Those are fucking Epstein numbers right there. I think when
- 41:50Speaker 2: Epstein got sentenced it was like fifteen months something like that.
- 41:55Speaker 2: That's wild to me.
- 41:57Speaker 1: This is what also was like. I was like, oh,
- 41:59Speaker 1: this is this people?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yeah, And if you read the comments under this BBC documentary,
- 42:06Speaker 2: there are a lot of people who are very fucking
- 42:08Speaker 2: unhappy about that because apparently this guy just like still
- 42:12Speaker 2: has a career now.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Sinriy he has left Korea and is apparently trying to
- 42:16Speaker 1: do the exact same shit in another Asian country.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Oh cool, cool, Yeah, Well, I mean but he learned
- 42:23Speaker 2: his lesson Jen, so sure it's not gonna happen again
- 42:28Speaker 2: because he got sentenced to eighteen months in prison, so
- 42:31Speaker 2: he's probably reformed now.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Reported spotted traveling in Southeast Asian running business ventures, facing
- 42:40Speaker 1: ongoing scrutiny for reportedly maintaining a luxurious lifestyle in Cambodia,
- 42:45Speaker 1: Thailand and Hong Kong.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Yep, that sounds about right.
- 42:49Speaker 1: He is doing the same shit. This, I promise you.
- 42:53Speaker 1: These people are fucking dark man. There is some shit
- 42:56Speaker 1: that this is. I swear to you, this is all
- 42:58Speaker 1: fucking connected.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean, put yourself in his shoes. Gross.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I know you don't want to, but think about Okay, well,
- 43:06Speaker 2: I did all of this as one of the biggest
- 43:09Speaker 2: fucking public figures in all of Korea. I got caught
- 43:14Speaker 2: and only got eighteen months in prison. Imagine what I
- 43:17Speaker 2: can get away with if I have a little bit
- 43:20Speaker 2: lower of a profile.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yeah. No, they only got caught because they were so
- 43:23Speaker 1: fucking messy. And that's the scariest part of this whole documentary.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, It's like if they were just at all less
- 43:30Speaker 1: fucked up and stupid, no one would have known.
- 43:33Speaker 2: And it seems like if he wasn't a celebrity, I
- 43:35Speaker 2: don't know if anyone would have cared exactly. I mean
- 43:38Speaker 2: people would have cared, but would the right people have cared.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I don't think it would be international news.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it wouldn't be news, so there wouldn't be police
- 43:46Speaker 2: to disgrace for their involvement.
- 43:48Speaker 1: No, shit like this probably happens all the time forever,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and it's all around.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, yes, oh man. So the documentary ends
- 43:58Speaker 2: with us being assured that this shit is still happening
- 44:02Speaker 2: in the Gangnam District in Korea, and that sex crimes
- 44:06Speaker 2: involving Molka have increased elevenfold over the last fifteen years. Also,
- 44:13Speaker 2: Yung is out of prison now hell yeah justice.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I will say what I did like about this documentary
- 44:19Speaker 1: is that they didn't show the other members of Big Bang,
- 44:22Speaker 1: And I know that they got really heavily associated with
- 44:25Speaker 1: this because it was the guy that was from Big Bang,
- 44:28Speaker 1: that was famous from being in Big Bang, So they
- 44:32Speaker 1: all kind of had to take the heat for his
- 44:35Speaker 1: sex crimes, which is fucking insane.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah that's not fair. No, yeah, it would be like
- 44:42Speaker 2: doing an R. Kelly documentary about his crimes and interviewing
- 44:46Speaker 2: the public announcement. Oh man, that is a deep cut reference.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know what that means.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, most people won't. His very first album was
- 44:56Speaker 2: recorded under the name R. Kelly, and the public announcement
- 45:00Speaker 2: he had like a band of backup dancers or something.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that is silly, but no.
- 45:05Speaker 1: I also think that Big Bang was being blackmailed to
- 45:08Speaker 1: not perform anymore and they only ever reunited after the
- 45:13Speaker 1: Epstein Files happened. Just saying, and they did it in
- 45:15Speaker 1: America at Coachella, And I personally think that people were
- 45:18Speaker 1: probably saying that if they said anything about anything that
- 45:21Speaker 1: they would be killed. There is a music video that Top,
- 45:25Speaker 1: the guy who will not be associated with them anymore
- 45:29Speaker 1: posts the scandal because he was like, I'm just not
- 45:32Speaker 1: doing Big Bang anymore, Like this was horrible.
- 45:35Speaker 3: I need to move on.
- 45:35Speaker 1: My reputation was destroyed and I can never go back
- 45:39Speaker 1: to this and there's too much corruption. And he also
- 45:42Speaker 1: was in squid Games and didn't accept any money for
- 45:45Speaker 1: the role because he didn't want to participate in like
- 45:48Speaker 1: the media money system. So he just put out a video,
- 45:53Speaker 1: a music video of his solo return.
- 45:56Speaker 6: Hu and it is the east subtle imagery and lyrics
- 46:03Speaker 6: I've ever heard of somebody talking shit like this is
- 46:07Speaker 6: so blatantly him talking about how this fucked his life
- 46:10Speaker 6: up and how he will never really be able to
- 46:14Speaker 6: talk about it kind of thing.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I gotta send you the video. Top is cool. I'm
- 46:19Speaker 1: glad that Big Bang are going on an international tour
- 46:22Speaker 1: with just the three of them. I hope that soon
- 46:25Speaker 1: Re dies.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Fuck him seems like a pretty awful person. Yeah, yeah,
- 46:31Speaker 2: so yeah, that's that's how that story ends. Yeah, lots
- 46:35Speaker 2: of justice for everybody, and that's our episode, I think, right, Yeah,
- 46:39Speaker 2: we did it, Jen, thank you so much for doing
- 46:42Speaker 2: the pod.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Thanks for having me.
- 46:45Speaker 2: What do you have to plug before we get out
- 46:47Speaker 2: of here?
- 46:48Speaker 1: Oh jeez, I don't know. Send me money. I'm so fucked.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I have no money and I would like some and
- 46:53Speaker 1: it just is like I'm working so much all the time.
- 46:57Speaker 1: So please don't tell me to get another job. It's
- 46:59Speaker 1: just like shit all the time. I had to take
- 47:01Speaker 1: my dog to the vet this week, so it's fucking now.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I just have no money, you know. So if you
- 47:07Speaker 1: want me to make you something like literally anything you
- 47:11Speaker 1: can think of that you don't want to do that
- 47:13Speaker 1: you want to pay somebody else to do, I'll do it.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Hell yeah, mostly Jen will kill someone for you.
- 47:18Speaker 3: That'd be crazy.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Just become an assassin low key over a podcast.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and yeah, to announce that business plan publicly, so.
- 47:26Speaker 1: It would like not even be that crazy. Everyone be like, oh,
- 47:29Speaker 1: you pivoted to be an assassin.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Cool.
- 47:31Speaker 2: I don't have anything to plug. I got new podcasts
- 47:34Speaker 2: coming out soon, but I've already mentioned them. I am tired.
- 47:37Speaker 2: I'm going to get the fuck out of here. Jen,
- 47:39Speaker 2: say goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, everybody. We love you, bab Daba
- 48:01Speaker 2: is the bab Dababama
