- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to uh eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Wow that Prime time. Maybe I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 2: Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to a commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman
- 0:25Speaker 1: was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game. You're listening to to Gotts in Company.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It is to Gods and Company, presented by Vandel and
- 0:34Speaker 1: the FANDOL Sportsbook. The guys are laughing at me because
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm old and I can't get connected.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Just say it.
- 0:39Speaker 2: We'll get to the next of the Hawks in a second.
- 0:41Speaker 1: You guys have been laughing at me behind my back
- 0:42Speaker 1: for the last ten minutes.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I felt it. I did. We were trying to do
- 0:46Speaker 2: it to your face, but you couldn't hear us.
- 0:50Speaker 5: I feel like it's not entirely your fault, but I
- 0:52Speaker 5: feel like whatever the reasoning is was originally bulk.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So yes, thank you for always being there with honesty.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Mikey A, So listen, I spoke to Hank's area. I
- 1:04Speaker 1: texted back and forth. That's a humble breg right there,
- 1:07Speaker 1: because he's a you know, he's a famous Knicks fan.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I asked him to join us today. He said he's
- 1:14Speaker 1: very busy today. But he did say I.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Can quote him on this, that was a bad loss.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Expert over there, does ESPN know about this?
- 1:27Speaker 2: I am not certain.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I have the exclusive Hanks Area thinks last night's loss
- 1:32Speaker 1: to the Atlanta Hawks by the New York Knicks was
- 1:34Speaker 1: a bad loss. And is he I think, I muttered
- 1:37Speaker 1: under my breath during the radio show. I didn't want
- 1:39Speaker 1: to say it on air because I didn't want to
- 1:40Speaker 1: disappoint Taylor, but I said, the Knicks will get out
- 1:43Speaker 1: to a big lead in this game, and he will
- 1:45Speaker 1: figure out a way to go back to Atlanta tied
- 1:47Speaker 1: at one game apiece.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And here I thought it.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Was just more like, oh, I think the Hawks are
- 1:52Speaker 5: going to win this game. I didn't know it was
- 1:53Speaker 5: that much detail, but I guess, you know, my memory
- 1:55Speaker 5: could be a little fuzzy.
- 1:56Speaker 2: But yeah, fin a score.
- 1:58Speaker 5: I mean, Jez, I would say losing to a red
- 2:04Speaker 5: hot thirty four year old C J McCollum particularly when
- 2:09Speaker 5: he's doing most of his damage against your best player,
- 2:12Speaker 5: is probably not the best way to feel good about,
- 2:15Speaker 5: you know, going into a Game three of the playoffs,
- 2:19Speaker 5: you know, I feel like very often Game one.
- 2:22Speaker 4: And it's not just something I feel, it's something that's
- 2:24Speaker 4: pretty true.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Historically, Game one of the playoff series is the most
- 2:30Speaker 5: unique of them.
- 2:31Speaker 4: It's most likely to be an anomaly.
- 2:32Speaker 5: And so you know, maybe game two, I thought the
- 2:36Speaker 5: Knicks would settle in and really sort of create or
- 2:40Speaker 5: show that gap in talent between them and the Hawks,
- 2:43Speaker 5: and that didn't happen because CJ. McCollum just threw it
- 2:46Speaker 5: back like ten years and was just crossing up Jalen
- 2:50Speaker 5: Brudston and right and left.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, it did happen. It just happened for three quarters
- 2:53Speaker 1: that they blew it act for us.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yes, right, yes, that's correct. For two games now, the
- 2:59Speaker 3: Knicks have kind of shown that they are a much
- 3:02Speaker 3: better team that the Hawks really have no business being
- 3:04Speaker 3: in the series. But in both games you kind of
- 3:07Speaker 3: saw the nixt problem. This team has no killer instinct,
- 3:10Speaker 3: They have no foot on their neck mentality. The knownes
- 3:13Speaker 3: with this team is Jalen Brunson is a defensive liability
- 3:16Speaker 3: and you have to hope his offense makes up for it.
- 3:19Speaker 3: CJ McCollum suit fleeed Jalen Brunson and he switched on
- 3:26Speaker 3: to him.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he wanted him. He was asking his coach, I
- 3:28Speaker 2: want to guard that guy. Yep.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And the biggest honor you could have as an opposing
- 3:33Speaker 3: player when you come to Madison Square Garden, when you
- 3:35Speaker 3: when you come to New York, when you come to
- 3:37Speaker 3: the Mecca, is nick fans hating your guts and I
- 3:41Speaker 3: hate I hate CJ McCullum, Cee McCollum. In the post game,
- 3:46Speaker 3: he's doing the I ain't no villain. I'm the nice
- 3:48Speaker 3: guy with two kids and a wife. CJ. I'm not
- 3:51Speaker 3: listening to what you say.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I hate you, and he does. He loves that you
- 3:57Speaker 2: hate him.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Go AHEADJ was also the guy after Game one who
- 4:01Speaker 5: was saying that Jalen Brunson thought he was on Broadway
- 4:03Speaker 5: after he sort of, I guess you know, acted a
- 4:07Speaker 5: little bit on a call to make them review it
- 4:11Speaker 5: where he basically got hit in the junk and if
- 4:13Speaker 5: you looked at the replay, no, he definitely kicked him
- 4:16Speaker 5: in the junk. That wasn't a natural, fully natural jump
- 4:19Speaker 5: shot motion. So there's a lot of reason to hate CJ.
- 4:21Speaker 5: McCollum if you're a Knicks fan today, so.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Appeal behind the curtain the Knicks loose. It feels like
- 4:28Speaker 3: I got a gut punch in the stomach. The only
- 4:30Speaker 3: silver lining yesterday is that I didn't spend four hundred
- 4:33Speaker 3: plus dollars to go to the game. I just watched
- 4:36Speaker 3: the game in the city at a bar with the
- 4:38Speaker 3: COMU friends.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yes, that only cost you two fifty I mean correct, correct.
- 4:44Speaker 4: If you stick to beers, maybe one fit.
- 4:48Speaker 3: So the one silver lining is that I didn't have that. Actually,
- 4:52Speaker 3: on a side note, I looked up it would have
- 4:55Speaker 3: been cheaper to fly to Atlanta round trip, get a hotel,
- 5:00Speaker 3: go to Game three in Atlanta. Then it would have
- 5:03Speaker 3: been to sit in the two hundred level at the
- 5:05Speaker 3: next game.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Geez, wow, how much do you hate O, G, N
- 5:09Speaker 5: ANDOB today because of this free throws?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yes?
- 5:13Speaker 5: Man, Like everything that happened down the stretch, you could
- 5:15Speaker 5: blame on on basketball, somebody getting a hot streak or whatever,
- 5:19Speaker 5: but you gotta make those two free throws.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Let's get this out of the way right away. Mike
- 5:23Speaker 1: Brown did not have a timeout. Okay, he did not
- 5:26Speaker 1: have many nick fans thought he had a timeout. He
- 5:28Speaker 1: did not have a timeout to use, and Bridges got
- 5:30Speaker 1: a decent shot there.
- 5:31Speaker 3: So so I I got sidetracked. I didn't finish my
- 5:35Speaker 3: peel behind the curtain. I'm walking out like like I'm
- 5:39Speaker 3: walking out like uh Harley Brown holding holding the blanket
- 5:43Speaker 3: or whatever whoever that is from the Peanuts.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Linus, Linus, Yes, I'm walking out, very good, Mike, Yeah, yes, Linus, I'm.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Walking I contributed to this basketball conversation.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I'm walking out of the bar like Linus plus Linus,
- 6:00Speaker 3: and I get a text message from Stu Gott saying, Hey,
- 6:03Speaker 3: here's CJ McCollum's number. Text him to try to get
- 6:06Speaker 3: him on.
- 6:06Speaker 2: The show's friend.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I'm looking at this. I'm like very close to just
- 6:11Speaker 3: messaging CJ McCollum, Hey, CJ McCollum, bleep off, please you.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Dare do that. He's a friend of mine in Israel,
- 6:19Speaker 2: has worked with him before.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 5: I actually texted him last night. But this is where
- 6:23Speaker 5: I think we differ.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Stu.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I just texted him a fire emoji with like that
- 6:27Speaker 5: screen him is that makes it seem like it's a
- 6:28Speaker 5: bunch of fire on the screen.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Outed that for one second think that he's going to
- 6:32Speaker 4: come on the show.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Did he respond to your fire emoji or no? Not yet.
- 6:38Speaker 5: I'm sure he's got hundreds of texts to get through,
- 6:40Speaker 5: and I'm sure he'll never get to.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Mind Taylor son of a DM? Is he when I
- 6:43Speaker 1: get to the studios today, give me your phone. I'm
- 6:45Speaker 1: going to text CJ McCollum myself. You don't text him
- 6:48Speaker 1: a fire emoji. You text him, Hey, you want to
- 6:50Speaker 1: come on? I do the show with a Nick fan,
- 6:52Speaker 1: with two Nick fans. You want to come on and
- 6:54Speaker 1: make fun of them and rub it in their face?
- 6:56Speaker 1: And he would, I'm telling you. CJ's a good guy.
- 6:58Speaker 4: He d know that's my fault, all right.
- 7:00Speaker 3: He text him at.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Zoom link, not a fire emoji, right, a zoom link
- 7:06Speaker 2: with a time yep.
- 7:08Speaker 3: So there's a ton of blame to go around for
- 7:12Speaker 3: this Knicks collapse yesterday. If this was a blame pie,
- 7:17Speaker 3: I'm giving over fifty percent to Mike Clown. That coach
- 7:22Speaker 3: he is. I don't even know the words. It's just
- 7:26Speaker 3: an inexplicable loss for the Knicks. Outside of foul trouble.
- 7:30Speaker 3: There's no reason for Karl Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson
- 7:35Speaker 3: to be off the court together. One of them should
- 7:37Speaker 3: always be in the game. When they're both on the bench,
- 7:40Speaker 3: their offense looks lost. There was a five man lineup
- 7:43Speaker 3: yesterday in the fourth quarter Jose Alvarado, Jordan Clarkston, Kel Bridges,
- 7:48Speaker 3: oj Ananobi, Mitchell Robinson. They played zero minutes together as
- 7:54Speaker 3: a lineup this season coming into tonight, but they're sharing
- 7:57Speaker 3: the floor for three minutes in the fourth quarter of
- 8:00Speaker 3: a Game two where it feels like the Hawks really
- 8:03Speaker 3: have no business being in the series.
- 8:04Speaker 5: You know what's crazy is the guy who felt like
- 8:08Speaker 5: was always doing great things and was six for six
- 8:10Speaker 5: from the floor, had seven rebounds. Mitchell Robinson was a
- 8:14Speaker 5: minus ten for the game. It's just that didn't feel
- 8:16Speaker 5: like it matched right.
- 8:17Speaker 2: But an active minus ten he was. He's so was active.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Taylor, Mike Brown more like
- 8:24Speaker 1: Mike Clown Yes or no?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yes?
- 8:27Speaker 4: Say that with an Italian accent. That sounds like the
- 8:30Speaker 4: radio show I've heard before.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I like it, Taylor.
- 8:32Speaker 1: When I asked you to put it on the pole,
- 8:33Speaker 1: that means I like it. You don't need verification. I
- 8:36Speaker 1: mean it's good. It was a funny line. Mike Brown
- 8:39Speaker 1: more like Mike Clown, Yes or no.
- 8:41Speaker 3: So my other problem with Mike Clown is you have
- 8:45Speaker 3: you have Karl Anthony Towns, and it's either Karl Anthony
- 8:50Speaker 3: Towns has Carl Anthony clown.
- 8:52Speaker 4: I was waiting for you.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Carl Anthony Towns either has a lack of aggression or
- 8:58Speaker 3: he's not in the offensive game plan, or it's combination
- 9:00Speaker 3: of the two. Because he went over to from the
- 9:02Speaker 3: field in the fourth quarter. We're paying fifty five million
- 9:06Speaker 3: dollars annually for a guy we don't know how to use.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And it's the very reason why you got rid of Tibbs,
- 9:11Speaker 3: to try to maximize this roster with Jalen Bronson and
- 9:14Speaker 3: with Karl Anthony Towns, knowing that you're gonna you're gonna
- 9:18Speaker 3: lose some ground on the other end with those two
- 9:20Speaker 3: as defensive liabilities. Where is where is the innovation?
- 9:25Speaker 5: I'll tell you one further, Taylor, in terms of what
- 9:27Speaker 5: the Knicks were supposed to do better and that was utilized,
- 9:31Speaker 5: or have a bench look at what it was supposed
- 9:35Speaker 5: to be. Either Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson and Orlandry
- 9:41Speaker 5: Shammitt and Jose Alvarado. It wasn't supposed to be all
- 9:45Speaker 5: four of them, and let's just see which one works.
- 9:47Speaker 5: And then Mitchell Robinson's the only one who actually contributes,
- 9:50Speaker 5: like it was. It's a weird bench rotation, and yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 5: like it. Karl Anthony Towns was shooting seventy five percent
- 9:59Speaker 5: for the game. You should have been going for him
- 10:01Speaker 5: for twice as many going to him for twice as
- 10:03Speaker 5: many shots as he got, especially in that fourth quarter,
- 10:06Speaker 5: and instead you got bullied by c J.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So this is interesting because he's complaining about Karl Anthony Towns,
- 10:11Speaker 1: and I'm with you, is he it seems like what
- 10:13Speaker 1: you're saying is they weren't actively trying to get Karl
- 10:16Speaker 1: Anthony Towns the ball. It seems like they were settling
- 10:19Speaker 1: for Jason Hard threes, for Jalen Brunton threes. And really,
- 10:22Speaker 1: the guy we should be angry at today because he
- 10:24Speaker 1: was terrible in the fourth quarter is Jalen Brunson, and
- 10:27Speaker 1: yet somehow he gets a pass and Karl Anthony Towns
- 10:30Speaker 1: does not.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Josh Hart, but you're right in that what I call
- 10:33Speaker 5: him Jason Jason Hart.
- 10:35Speaker 2: That's all right.
- 10:35Speaker 4: That sounds like a good name, right, Jason High at
- 10:37Speaker 4: least a famous actor.
- 10:38Speaker 2: There's a Jason Hard out there. I just don't know
- 10:40Speaker 2: who it is.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, But the thing that you know sort of
- 10:43Speaker 5: doubles down on the frustration there is Jalen Brunson is
- 10:48Speaker 5: your best player, but he's getting cooked on the other side,
- 10:50Speaker 5: Like you can't.
- 10:51Speaker 4: If you're going to be the guy that gets.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Sought out by the opposition, you better be doing Steph
- 10:56Speaker 5: Curry things on the offensive side. And Jayalen, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 5: I do an okay game, but ten for twenty is actually.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Not a great game.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Ten for twenty six not great, and so yeah, I
- 11:06Speaker 5: think that's a bad game for him. But it's it's
- 11:09Speaker 5: Don Brown, as Taylor was saying, because you've got to
- 11:12Speaker 5: get Carl Anthony Towns more involved. It's not like Jalen
- 11:15Speaker 5: was on fire for three quarters and then just cooled
- 11:17Speaker 5: off in the fourth.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So why does that have to be on Mike Brown
- 11:19Speaker 1: and not Jalen Brunson, who's the point guard of that
- 11:21Speaker 1: team and can't get Carl Anthony Towns the ball where
- 11:24Speaker 1: he wants the ball in good spots.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Right, It's not like you see and correct me if
- 11:28Speaker 5: I'm wrong, Taylor, But do you often see Carl Anthony
- 11:31Speaker 5: Towns have his man pinned in the paint and then
- 11:33Speaker 5: just get ignored. No, I mean it's probably more of
- 11:36Speaker 5: a combination, which is what Taylor suggesting, which was both
- 11:39Speaker 5: Karl Anthony Town's lack of aggressive nature and Mike Brown's
- 11:42Speaker 5: lack of a playbook or you know, an approach that
- 11:45Speaker 5: has him getting the ball very often.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yeah, most of the times when Jalen Brunson's at the
- 11:50Speaker 3: top and he's doing like his Iso Hero ball, which
- 11:53Speaker 3: for the most part it does work. Like you look
- 11:55Speaker 3: at the metrics in Clutch minutes, Jalen Brunson's always towards
- 11:59Speaker 3: the top of that, if not the top. But then
- 12:01Speaker 3: you're watching Karl Anthony Towns during that. And that's why
- 12:04Speaker 3: Nicks fans were excited when we started seeing more of
- 12:06Speaker 3: the Carl Anthony towlenge Jalen Brunson pick and roll because
- 12:09Speaker 3: for the most part, Jalen's doing his thing at the
- 12:12Speaker 3: top and Carl Anthony Towns is just rolling on the
- 12:14Speaker 3: outside not doing anything. Second point, Jalen Brunson did hit
- 12:19Speaker 3: some big threes down the stretch.
- 12:21Speaker 4: That Jake was the tie it at one, O three
- 12:23Speaker 4: was just onions.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Yes, and then he hit the one to cut a
- 12:26Speaker 3: four point game to one. They get the two misses
- 12:28Speaker 3: from CJ. McCollum. NBC makes probably the only mistake you
- 12:31Speaker 3: can't make in that situation, making everybody think that, Like
- 12:35Speaker 3: people are calling in to WFA and today still thinking
- 12:37Speaker 3: that the Knicks had a time out. Third point. Jason
- 12:40Speaker 3: Hart was a basketball player at Syracuse from ninety six
- 12:45Speaker 3: to two thousand. The second round pick. He was a
- 12:49Speaker 3: second round pick by the Bucks.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Jalen Brunson, I'm just gonna go back to this because
- 13:04Speaker 1: i feel like we're gonna lash out at Mike clown
- 13:07Speaker 1: at Karl Anthony Clowns, and no one's gonna get on
- 13:10Speaker 1: Jalen Brunton, who threw two games against the Atlanto Hoffs
- 13:14Speaker 1: at home, is nineteen of forty eight.
- 13:15Speaker 2: He needs to be better.
- 13:17Speaker 1: He's a liability defensively against a guy who is.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Thirty one years old. It's CJ. McCollum. He's a liability there.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And then when he gives you nineteen of forty eight, No,
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's unacceptable.
- 13:29Speaker 2: He's the star of the team. He needs to be better.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Is he Taylor Big? Twelve minutes from Tony Bradley? Oh
- 13:35Speaker 4: Jesus yeah, no, zero minutes.
- 13:37Speaker 5: To twelve minutes plus seven in those twelve minutes for
- 13:39Speaker 5: Tony Bradley. Since we were sort of pooping on NBC
- 13:42Speaker 5: for what they did on the end there with the timeout,
- 13:44Speaker 5: I want to give I guess it's NBC and Peacock's
- 13:47Speaker 5: a question for you guys. Honestly, if you guys were
- 13:50Speaker 5: watching on NBC, it looks the same as Peacock, right,
- 13:53Speaker 5: it doesn't look different. If it's on NBC versus Peacock, right,
- 13:55Speaker 5: it looks exactly the same.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much.
- 13:58Speaker 4: So I think they've.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Sort of, you know how, the first down line was
- 14:03Speaker 5: sort of an innovation in terms of the way you
- 14:06Speaker 5: watch sports, and and this I feel like Peacocker NBC
- 14:09Speaker 5: has done something similar, not quite as helpful as that
- 14:12Speaker 5: first down marker.
- 14:13Speaker 4: But visually very pleasant.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Have you guys, You guys noticed that little three symbol
- 14:20Speaker 5: that comes up with the little plus threes that just
- 14:22Speaker 5: bounce off the score every time somebody hits a three.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Have you seen those?
- 14:25Speaker 5: No, haven't been paying attention to those what have you
- 14:28Speaker 5: been watching, Mike, You tell me you watched That's what
- 14:31Speaker 5: I've been.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Watching as it's changing, As the score is changing, its
- 14:35Speaker 3: plus three, it's so lovely for a couple of reasons.
- 14:37Speaker 4: One, it's like they just did a great job with
- 14:39Speaker 4: the graphic.
- 14:39Speaker 5: It's like a lot going on, but not too much,
- 14:41Speaker 5: and so it's just like it's nice on the eyes.
- 14:43Speaker 5: And also even if you're not staring right at it
- 14:46Speaker 5: makes you know for a fact.
- 14:48Speaker 4: They updated the score.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Like sometimes I look down at the score very quickly
- 14:51Speaker 5: and I'm like, did they update that yet?
- 14:52Speaker 4: I don't really know.
- 14:53Speaker 5: When that pops up, it's like, oh, okay, not only
- 14:55Speaker 5: do I know, but I get a little, you know.
- 14:57Speaker 4: A little present for the eyes when I look down.
- 15:00Speaker 4: The only I don't know if you guys feel the
- 15:03Speaker 4: same way.
- 15:04Speaker 5: The only thing that I would change is I feel
- 15:06Speaker 5: like three pointers are getting too much credit there. I
- 15:09Speaker 5: feel like they need to change something.
- 15:10Speaker 2: For the dunk.
- 15:11Speaker 5: If somebody gets a dunk, I think the score change
- 15:14Speaker 5: needs to just like shake or something, you know what
- 15:16Speaker 5: I mean, Like when it goes, it doesn't have to
- 15:17Speaker 5: have a two pointer or anything, doesn't have to have
- 15:19Speaker 5: a graphic. Just kind of come off the screen a
- 15:21Speaker 5: little bit shake and then just jump right back.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I would change Jalen Brunts's missus to makes How about that?
- 15:27Speaker 2: I mean, Jesus Christ, it's a make or miss league.
- 15:30Speaker 3: And if we're if we're on the topic of criticizing
- 15:33Speaker 3: other network.
- 15:34Speaker 5: No, we were on the topic of a little symbol
- 15:36Speaker 5: that comes out. What are you talking about?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, critique it's.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Delightful to his eye. Yes, that's all it is.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Right, My critique today is for ESPN get rid of
- 15:46Speaker 3: the win probability.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Oh my god, yes, hold on, I'm slow down, Taylor.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I know you listen, you're really but you have already listened.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I mean we're taping this at ten in the morning.
- 15:55Speaker 1: You've already listened to w f A N. And now
- 15:58Speaker 1: you're calling Mike Brown my clown, which I love. And
- 16:01Speaker 1: now you're blasting the ESPN win probability. No, I mean
- 16:05Speaker 1: it's one one. We're going back to Atlanta on Thursday
- 16:08Speaker 1: for Game three.
- 16:08Speaker 2: The series started, finally.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But you are fucking reeally right now, my man.
- 16:13Speaker 2: If Mikale Bridges hits that shot, yes, none of this
- 16:16Speaker 2: is happening. Oh, he loves the win probability.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yes, don't get me sorted on that either mckel bridges
- 16:23Speaker 3: wearing the bonus, we're down one, attack the basket. It's
- 16:26Speaker 3: just not his game. You'd rather shoot a contested mid
- 16:28Speaker 3: range shot.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It go back to your point on win probability. You
- 16:31Speaker 1: said it to us. I think the Knicks wire up
- 16:32Speaker 1: eleven in the fourth quarter, they had a ninety seven
- 16:34Speaker 1: percent chance of winning the game.
- 16:37Speaker 3: It's just there's no way accurately the Knicks actually had
- 16:42Speaker 3: a ninety seven percent chance to win. Somebody in ESPN
- 16:48Speaker 3: Analytics has to look at their metrics and say, we
- 16:51Speaker 3: are consistently saying this team has a ninety seven percent
- 16:54Speaker 3: chance to win, and somehow, probably twenty five percent of
- 16:59Speaker 3: the time, the other team mounts a comeback and comes
- 17:02Speaker 3: back to win the game. I wouldn't have a problem
- 17:05Speaker 3: if I check that score and it says Nicks seventy
- 17:09Speaker 3: seven percent chance. Ninety seven percent chance is making it
- 17:13Speaker 3: seem like it was almost a foregone conclusion.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I'd be okay with no percentages. Just hey, Nick's probably
- 17:20Speaker 1: gonna win this game.
- 17:22Speaker 5: I mean, it's unnecessary. First, it's entirely unnecessary, but it
- 17:25Speaker 5: makes Taylor's right. It makes every loss or every decision
- 17:30Speaker 5: make makes it feel like it was the greatest upset
- 17:33Speaker 5: of all time. Oh my god, the most crazy thing happened.
- 17:36Speaker 5: This team had a ninety nine percent chance to win.
- 17:39Speaker 5: They were down one wither point five seconds left.
- 17:41Speaker 4: That happens all the time. Somebody gets a shut off
- 17:44Speaker 4: boom game win.
- 17:44Speaker 5: I'm not saying this scenario, but I'm saying in any
- 17:46Speaker 5: scenario where they have ninety nine plus, it's just like,
- 17:49Speaker 5: come on, anything can happen here.
- 17:50Speaker 4: That's ridiculous.
- 17:51Speaker 3: STU wants to change it to NFL injury designations probable, questionable,
- 17:56Speaker 3: and doubtful even should.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Win this game. They should win this game.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Go ahead, though, So I'm offering my services to ESPN
- 18:04Speaker 3: for this to help fix their win probability.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It's nice of you, because if you're just.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Doing the eye test and you're watching that game and
- 18:10Speaker 3: and open close your eyes test open open eyes okay, yes, yeah, yes.
- 18:15Speaker 3: So if they have somebody who went to this IVY
- 18:18Speaker 3: League school at Harvard and in their analytic department saying
- 18:22Speaker 3: the Knicks have a ninety seven percent chance there, that's
- 18:25Speaker 3: when you need a fan to come in and sit
- 18:26Speaker 3: next to this This uh analytics guy, right, Yes, Like,
- 18:32Speaker 3: first off, we might want to downgrade that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I understand what you're saying. I'm a Knicks fan. Have
- 18:35Speaker 1: you seen this team play? You might want to downgrade
- 18:37Speaker 1: your ninety seven to eighty seven. First fifty, yeah, and
- 18:41Speaker 1: coin toss.
- 18:42Speaker 3: First off, randomness, drop that ninety seven immediately down to
- 18:46Speaker 3: ninety two percent and kind of account for that. Then
- 18:49Speaker 3: you have to factor in, this team has no killer instinct,
- 18:52Speaker 3: this team has no foot on your neck. Mentality factor
- 18:55Speaker 3: in that, it's the Knicks factor in, the Mecca factor
- 18:57Speaker 3: in CJ. McCollum. And yes, you get closer to Mikey's
- 19:01Speaker 3: projections of maybe it's a sixty forty.
- 19:04Speaker 4: But you don't say any of those things.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:06Speaker 5: You're sitting there and the guy projecting or gal projecting
- 19:09Speaker 5: is looking at you, and you just give him a
- 19:10Speaker 5: nudge like he just kind of say a little lower, yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 5: and the just until they get where you feel like
- 19:15Speaker 5: as the fit a little lower, and you're just like,
- 19:17Speaker 5: all right, thumbs up.
- 19:17Speaker 4: And I think the harboriculating all that in your head.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I think the Harvard grad does the math, puts the percentage,
- 19:23Speaker 1: puts it in front of tailor and the tailor gets
- 19:25Speaker 1: to downgrade that percentage.
- 19:26Speaker 2: How he sees fit correct, correct before they release it. Right.
- 19:29Speaker 3: So like this would be like an NFL game when
- 19:32Speaker 3: they're coming into a game and saying, Oh, this team's
- 19:34Speaker 3: win probability is this. This team's win probability is this,
- 19:38Speaker 3: Mikey Stu. You can look at a Jet game and say, hey,
- 19:40Speaker 3: this team's win probability. You could probably start against the
- 19:43Speaker 3: Jets ninety.
- 19:44Speaker 1: No, I would say before every game, I would put
- 19:46Speaker 1: it at one hundred percent, I mean.
- 19:49Speaker 3: And then you wouldst down from there.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yes, without seeing a single snap.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Taylor, to your point, go back to the the
- 20:00Speaker 5: Nuggets Timberwolves game yesterday and figure out what percentage the
- 20:05Speaker 5: Nuggets had to win at some point in that fourth quarter.
- 20:07Speaker 5: I'm betting you it was probably in the high nineties.
- 20:10Speaker 5: I mean, they weren't not by a ton, but they
- 20:12Speaker 5: were up like five midway through something like this, and
- 20:15Speaker 5: they're at home. I'm pretty sure at some point that
- 20:17Speaker 5: was in the high nineties and that was just a
- 20:19Speaker 5: regular loss.
- 20:20Speaker 2: We'll get to that game in just a second.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Another series that started last night because a road team won.
- 20:25Speaker 1: But is he what I found interesting about the Hawks
- 20:28Speaker 1: besides CJ McCollum, I wish Spa. I wish Spike Lee
- 20:32Speaker 1: would shut the hell up and stop getting the other
- 20:34Speaker 1: guys so riled up that they go on and have
- 20:36Speaker 1: legendary performances in our building, right in front of our faces.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I prefer he not do that anymore.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But Jonathan Kaminga kind of stood out to me, almost
- 20:46Speaker 1: a coming out of sorts for Jonathan Kaminga And I
- 20:49Speaker 1: had no idea he was on the Hawks until he
- 20:51Speaker 1: was playing at MSG last night.
- 20:52Speaker 2: How about that, Well he is.
- 20:53Speaker 5: I mean, he got traded there obviously from the Golden State,
- 20:56Speaker 5: and everything that happened there was not a pleasant situation.
- 20:59Speaker 5: But he's been basically doing that every other game since
- 21:02Speaker 5: he got there, Like they were basically thanking Steve Kerse, say, hey,
- 21:05Speaker 5: thanks for giving us this gift of Jonathan Kamingo, because
- 21:08Speaker 5: he can still do a lot of things and he
- 21:10Speaker 5: was just stuck on your bench. But he's limited in
- 21:13Speaker 5: terms of like a half court offensive player. He's a
- 21:16Speaker 5: great defender, great in the fast break, great at just
- 21:18Speaker 5: attacking the basket. He's a good compliment to what they have,
- 21:21Speaker 5: but they're a little too small, so he's got to
- 21:23Speaker 5: be like, he's got to play big and play fast,
- 21:26Speaker 5: and that's a little too much of an ask for him.
- 21:29Speaker 4: All right, go ahead, Telly.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna regret saying that the Knicks probably had to
- 21:33Speaker 3: buy in the first round playing the Hawks, right.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Yes, do you think? Yeah, you're regretting it.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Right now we're going back to Atlanta and not at
- 21:39Speaker 1: one game apiece.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Jesus, ninety seven percent chance you regret it.
