Transcript
- 0:00You're listening to the Sports Therapy Association podcast putting evidence
- 0:05back into soft tissue therapy.
- 0:19Hi people, how are you doing? Welcome to episode 261 of the Sports Therapy Association podcast.
- 0:25My name is Matt Phillips, creator of runchatlive.com.
- 0:28And as always, this episode is being recorded live on the Sports Therapy Association
- 0:33YouTube channel and Facebook on a Tuesday night at 8pm.
- 0:38If you're listening to the podcast and you'd like to join us live,
- 0:41that's where you have to go on a Tuesday at 8 o'clock.
- 0:43For example, already in the house, I'm saying good evening to you all.
- 0:47I'm looking forwards to catching up with you all soon. And that's Gary Benson, founder of the STA.
- 0:52And congratulations, Gary, on your recent hitching. I'm very excited for you
- 0:55and can't wait to see you and your lovely wife. How does that sound?
- 0:59Also, Nikki Mansfield is here as well saying, hey, hey, hey,
- 1:02can you believe it's Therapy Expo time already? I know.
- 1:05Once upon a time, we used to say, oh, it's Christmas soon. Now it's,
- 1:08oh, it's Therapy Expo soon, which I think they'd be quite happy about.
- 1:11It's kind of like it's replaced Christmas, isn't that? That's blasphemy, I think.
- 1:14But anyway, so, and Glenn Murphy's in the house as well. people are flocking in
- 1:17are very excited to hear about what's late the latest
- 1:20that's happening for therapy expo when you do join us live then obviously you
- 1:24can ask questions to our guests directly and i get to bring your comments up
- 1:27on the screen so it's a quite a good network networking opportunity if you are
- 1:31listening to podcasts and you fancy doing that that's all you have to do eight
- 1:34o'clock sports therapy association youtube channel or facebook.
- 1:39Right then. So in the previous episode, we celebrated reaching five years of weekly podcasts.
- 1:44And I was joined by Emily Gilbert of Framework Sports Massage,
- 1:47who gave us her top five things to look out for at MSK conference,
- 1:50which included discussion about creating a welcome space, diversity in therapists
- 1:54attending, approachability of speakers, having a space for discussion and more.
- 1:58And I know these are themes from having worked with the Therapy Expo team,
- 2:01which they try and do every year as well.
- 2:03So I'm looking forward to hearing about that with them. And in tonight's episode,
- 2:06we will be hearing from them directly because I'm going to be joined by Therapy
- 2:11Expo content producer Molly Benson, show manager Charlotte Spear.
- 2:16We were going to be joined by Vernon Smead, who I know a lot of you have met,
- 2:19who is the business development manager, but Sally's not able to be with us
- 2:22tonight, but we send our best wishes to Vernon.
- 2:25I'd also like to take this opportunity.
- 2:28Because I don't do it enough, just to mention that I've got,
- 2:31once again, a speaking presentation going on at Therapy Expo.
- 2:34If I don't say it now, no one else is going to say it, are they?
- 2:36So if you are going to Therapy Expo, then if you're free on day one at 3.50 p.m.
- 2:41In Theatre B, just before the wonderful Michelle Lyons appears.
- 2:45Then I will be delivering this year mindful strides, communication skills for
- 2:49working with runners and anyone else for that matter.
- 2:52I added that bit recently, and the wonderful staff at Therapy Expo,
- 2:55even after deadline, said, yeah, we can add that on.
- 2:57Because it's not just for if you work with runners i don't want to make make
- 3:00people think oh no i don't work with runners that's not really interesting it's going
- 3:03to be all about communication skills for working with anyone who is
- 3:06human and it probably works with animals as well maybe horses as
- 3:09well so if you do want to improve your communication skills
- 3:12then do come along to theater b on day
- 3:15one at 3 50 p.m i would love to see
- 3:18you right i've got out of the way i hate promoting myself
- 3:21on these things but someone's got to do it haven't they so and i'd
- 3:24love to have people there it's it's we all feel it
- 3:27we all i've been at therapy expo now probably
- 3:312000 yeah 2014 of the first year and i always have these reoccurring dreams
- 3:35i had one the other night showing i'm thinking about it too much where you just
- 3:37go in there and there's about five people one of them's normally asleep so believe
- 3:40me however many times you've spoken at these events you always worry that no
- 3:43one's going to come along in the end everyone does that's fine but we're only
- 3:46human and we worry about it so yeah see you there hopefully anyway back to tonight's episode.
- 3:51Very excited to hear what's fresh at Therapy Expo this year.
- 3:54We'll have details very shortly about discount codes, whether you're an STA
- 3:57member or not, and also about exciting new things happening at the NEC in Birmingham.
- 4:02So do stay tuned as I now bring up our guests for tonight, Molly Benson and Charlotte Spear.
- 4:21How are you hello thank you very
- 4:25well thank you wide awake not a tired face
- 4:28on screen whatsoever at the moment fantastic you guys
- 4:31been working hard haven't you first of all i must say because you've had a little chat thank
- 4:34you so much i know you've been working really hard and it
- 4:37has been an effort to think i've got to do what now another
- 4:40hour but i really appreciate your time thank you no we appreciate
- 4:43we appreciate being asked to do it as always well it's
- 4:47worth doing we've all known us each other for a while now so just
- 4:50give us an idea has today been all therapy expo have you got other
- 4:53things going on as well all therapy expo and
- 4:56so we work on the show all year round molly actually also runs the content for
- 5:01another event called the care show so yeah she has the pleasure of working across
- 5:06two events but for me it is 100 therapy expo for 12 months she says with a smile And I love it.
- 5:15And I love it. Yeah, you do. Everyone who knows you and has seen you there knows that you love it.
- 5:18And I'm sure we'll get treated to another spangly dress this year as you walk
- 5:22around, just illuminating everywhere you walk. Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 5:26So that, if you listen to the podcast, is Charlotte Spear speaking.
- 5:29And Molly Benson's voice. How are you, Molly?
- 5:31I'm good, thank you. Thank you for having us on the podcast again. Absolute pleasure.
- 5:35We should repeat again, just for people who aren't aware, you are no relation
- 5:38to Gary Benson. Unfortunately not, no.
- 5:40Unfortunately not. He'll like that. and we i should actually
- 5:43say now that gary is married so there's absolutely no chance
- 5:46of anybody listening now he's gone you've missed your opportunity people gary
- 5:49benson has now been taken so yeah you've
- 5:52lost your chance but you can still be his friend i'm coming to therapy expo
- 5:55and you'll see us there at a stand but just get rid of any other thoughts you've
- 5:58had right went on far too long about that so amazing thanks for joining us yeah
- 6:03i think it's important to remember that yeah therapy expo doesn't just happen
- 6:06like oh about two months to go better start looking at that now it's an all-round
- 6:10thing isn't it that starts pretty much.
- 6:13The hour before the other one finishes. That's when you're on it.
- 6:16Give us an idea so people don't understand why that process is so long.
- 6:20I mean, I start quite early out, partly because there's a lot of research involved in my role.
- 6:25It's part of my role is to sort of keep my eyes on the ground and know what's going on in the sector.
- 6:30And that's a year round thing. That's not just like you say,
- 6:32the two months before the show.
- 6:34So to have an idea of what's going on in sort of government stuff,
- 6:38legislation, funding, workforce, all these massive big picture things.
- 6:41So I talk to people all year round to make sure that the stuff that we do put
- 6:45on in November is reflective of a whole year worth of change and educational updates.
- 6:50So that process starts starts quite early on.
- 6:53And even so from from our side, who looks after mainly the exhibitors sponsorship.
- 6:59Different sponsorship platforms.
- 7:01So we have to work on the 2026 floor plan two weeks ago.
- 7:06So we need to make sure that everything's set up so that we can go on site with
- 7:11new show dates for next year, the save the dates,
- 7:15comms that we're going to be distributing on site, special offers on site,
- 7:19floor plan for next year, the tickets for next year, the different rates we're offering.
- 7:24So yeah we're we're as much
- 7:28as we are five you know four weeks to go until
- 7:31this year we are already working on
- 7:34what's going to take place next year and we've yeah the
- 7:37themes the ideas the streams the speakers it's
- 7:41uh which makes it fun it keeps keeps us going we're
- 7:44adrenaline junkies yeah it is i was
- 7:47just thinking of that yeah you must be bungee jumping or skydiving it's
- 7:50just yeah you need it all the time it's good there's people like you exist otherwise
- 7:53because it is a massive show and i believe looking at the website just
- 7:56to give people an idea in case you haven't seen the website all this information
- 7:59is on there but we're looking at something like over 100 specialist speakers
- 8:03150 certified cbd sessions which i think is more than last year if i remember
- 8:09rightly 150 exhibitors 2 000 delicates expected is it bigger than last year.
- 8:15It is. I mean, that number's gone up. That number needs updating.
- 8:18We're more, we're around the more sort of 145 mark for speakers at the moment.
- 8:22So yeah, a big, a big faculty.
- 8:25A big what, sorry? Faculty. Oh, I know. I was just joking. I know you're tired.
- 8:31And, and was that the intention? Are you going to ever reach a stage where you
- 8:34think, listen, that's probably enough now.
- 8:36Let's just deal with what we've got. Or is there room for this expansion?
- 8:40To be honest, because it is a complete multidisciplinary event,
- 8:45This industry seems to be never-ending.
- 8:48Every year we come to the table with so many ideas and so many exhibitors and
- 8:53streams and features and themes we're going to implement.
- 8:56And it's just impossible to go from zero to 100.
- 9:00So for this year, as Molly's mentioned, we have grown our CPD sessions.
- 9:05We've grown our speaker numbers.
- 9:07The floor plan itself has grown by 15%. Theatres are bigger.
- 9:11But you know I always say you
- 9:14know this year is going to be the best yet but we
- 9:18have we've got a five-year plan so there's
- 9:22definitely no stopping now I mean Therapy Expo we're
- 9:24we are we've got so much room for growth
- 9:28expansion I think there's so much still that we could be doing so many innovative
- 9:33features and offerings at the event but you know I say slowly slowly it hasn't
- 9:39been slowly slowly we have grown extensively every year but there's there's
- 9:43still a lot more planned so yeah watch this space.
- 9:48That's brilliant. It was a great hook if ever there was one.
- 9:51Before we get into it, I'd like to talk a little bit about how it's evolved.
- 9:54I know you've both been involved post-COVID, so kind of particularly you,
- 9:59Charlotte, from 2021 onwards.
- 10:01I'm keen to hear how it has changed over the years. But I thought before we
- 10:04do that, because there's been going to be people who are tuning in this because
- 10:07they want the important information. The elephant in the room is how can I save
- 10:10some money? What are the codes and things at the moment?
- 10:12If you're an STA member, then there is a code for you guys, which you can get
- 10:17in the latest newsletter. You can get from the STA members only page.
- 10:21You can get from emailing us, matt at the STA.co.uk or gary at the STA.co.uk.
- 10:26And you can get that code. We're not going to say it out loud because this is
- 10:29one of the prizes of being an STA member.
- 10:30But I'll give you another little clue that if you become an STA member for like
- 10:35£70 a year or something, you'll get the code and you'll probably save money.
- 10:38So there's another way of doing it, even if you're not an STA member.
- 10:40But there are a lot of offers going out there. What's the current price people
- 10:45are going to be looking at the moment if they're using a code?
- 10:47What are they looking at? What could they be saving?
- 10:49So the current price of the ticket for the two days at the moment is £229.
- 10:57Various organizations, associations, membership platforms are offering 15% discount codes.
- 11:03So that takes the price down to £195. pounds.
- 11:07That being said, we are on a deadline. So Halloween, the clock will strike 12
- 11:13o'clock and the prices are going up this Friday, the 31st of October.
- 11:18Prices are going up. They're going up to £299.
- 11:22Even with 15% off, it will be £254.
- 11:26So now is absolutely the time to secure your ticket and save some hard-earned money.
- 11:33Definitely. It means I'm going to get this podcast out tomorrow, which will be the 29th.
- 11:37And hopefully it'll be ready by lunchtime. So people, there's normally,
- 11:40obviously with podcasts, when they first come out, that's when a lot of people hit it.
- 11:43So yeah, if you listen to this, you've got until the 31st, till midnight strikes.
- 11:48I will say you've left it to the last minute.com. But hey, life can get in the
- 11:51way and you've got a month to go.
- 11:53But if you talk to people, you'll know what Therapy Expo offers.
- 11:58And hopefully saving a little bit of money will help push you over that decision
- 12:02edge and just launch yourself into it.
- 12:04I'm really interested this year, because I think feedback last year was some
- 12:07people can only go for one day and what can they do?
- 12:10I think we were saying a little bit off air, there is a one day ticket available now.
- 12:13Is that right? there is there is and we you know we heard and we totally get
- 12:18it some people can only attend for one day and that there's loads of other there's
- 12:22loads of reasons why so we totally get it so for this year providing that you
- 12:27call our team up so we've got a delegate telesales team who can literally.
- 12:32Go from start to finish register you on the phone get your ticket purchased
- 12:36they can run through the one day options for you that's really cool i mean that's
- 12:41a nice example of of looking at the feedback from last year,
- 12:44which we'll talk about in a second,
- 12:46but there are people who can only go for one day.
- 12:48So I'm going to say a phone number now, but I know there's phone numbers you
- 12:51can get on the website if you go to therapyexpo.co.uk.
- 12:54But if you are listening to the podcast and you want to jot this down,
- 12:57then I'll say it and then you can pause it and repeat it. But it's 0203 978.
- 13:031-6-6-5. So that's 0-2-0-3-9-7-8-1-6-6-5. You'll get through the telecells team
- 13:11or just go to the therapyexpo.co.uk website and you'll find details there.
- 13:15That's really cool that you're giving that option. It's tricky for some people to do two days.
- 13:18If you're umming and ahhing about, oh, should I do one? Should I do two?
- 13:21And you're deciding about however much it is.
- 13:25If you're umming and ahhing, then do it. If you're not quite sure yet,
- 13:28if you're ambivalent, then I would recommend doing it because the number of people I speak to,
- 13:31I think they're going to go for just one day then they get to network they
- 13:34meet people they get a taste of it it's like a marathon or
- 13:37something you're suddenly thinking oh my god i didn't expect this and and
- 13:40you'll be kicking yourself and thinking oh why didn't i organize something you'll meet
- 13:43people who've organized b&bs and accommodation and
- 13:46you'll be so jealous because they're going out saturday evening and sorry saturday
- 13:49evening on wednesday evening yeah and doing something
- 13:52so if you're on the edge thinking one or two if you're
- 13:56in that position where you you could do two i would say do two especially
- 13:59if it's your first time just so you can experience it and not kind of
- 14:02miss out plus you'll get to see all so many speakers on day two
- 14:05as well and it'll be so cool for you so there you
- 14:07go the content is different on each day yeah exactly we
- 14:11don't run repeat sessions at all because we've
- 14:14got so many speakers offering the most amazing sessions
- 14:17so we spread them out across the two days and you're absolutely correct you
- 14:21know most people that maybe say oh last year especially you know I wish I didn't
- 14:26have to buy the two-day ticket on day one by the end of day one we had loads
- 14:30of feedback that thank god because we can't wait for tomorrow.
- 14:35So, you know, but that being said, look at the conference program,
- 14:38obviously highlight the sessions that are most important to you.
- 14:41And that is how you're going to pick what day you come.
- 14:44That's really true as well. I commend you on the table.
- 14:47It's so clear on the table and easy to see, even though it's at so many hours
- 14:50and so many speakers, you just scroll and you can see what's in each theatre
- 14:53and they're divided into topics.
- 14:55So it's not difficult at all to go along and just have a little look at what,
- 14:58and then there's a PDF you can download as well, if I might.
- 15:01For those people who like to print stuff out and circle stuff with pen and paper,
- 15:04you can do that. So it's all very user-friendly, which is, again,
- 15:07I commend you on that. It's cool.
- 15:08So there you go, people. That's the money question out of the way.
- 15:11Just remember to talk to your organizations as well.
- 15:14You know, if you're with someone decent, there should be a code there,
- 15:16which can save you money.
- 15:17So, and if you're not with someone decent, then it's not too late to join the
- 15:20STA and now's a good time to do it. So you get your therapy expo price as well included in it.
- 15:25So right then let's talk a little bit, let's go back a little bit, shall we?
- 15:29Because I think, like you say,
- 15:31every year it gets bigger and better and so much thought goes into it.
- 15:34So maybe, i mean it started in 2013 in manchester
- 15:37which i was at you guys weren't because i'm far older
- 15:40than you just doing both in your kind of late teens so
- 15:43maybe covid year was a massive one that's the only
- 15:46year when it hasn't been around and then it came back at
- 15:492021 which was so weird it's just such an amazing
- 15:52memory and i think a really happy memory it's a bit weird
- 15:55first of all but then people really celebrated the fact we could kind of
- 15:57mix with each other and it's it's great but you guys joined
- 16:00well charlotte you joined 2021 did you the team well i
- 16:03joined closer still media who run therapy expo
- 16:07in 2020 it was that so my career
- 16:10has been in running trade shows bridal trade
- 16:13shows i did that for 10 years and then
- 16:16chose to move companies and we
- 16:19went into a pandemic so it was sod's law worked at
- 16:23closest still media for a year during covid as you can imagine
- 16:25for an events company COVID wasn't the most
- 16:28ideal time but we ran several
- 16:31different virtual events all fine and then
- 16:342021 I got given therapy expo
- 16:38and I got the handover just said you know it's a an add-on to the occupational
- 16:42therapy show those that came pre-COVID will remember it was a fairly small event
- 16:48lovely event very highly sought after event but it was a small event and And
- 16:53the handover kind of said, you know.
- 16:55Small industry will only require me to run it.
- 16:58And that was that. So I went to 2021 and spoke to as many people,
- 17:03Gary will remember, because I was with him for a good few hours at the end when
- 17:08I could finally get a chance to talk to him.
- 17:10I spoke to delegates, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, and just went from there really.
- 17:15And here we are, you know, 68% in growth in floor space. So it's grown by more than half.
- 17:23Theatres are far bigger. Again, watch this space for next year.
- 17:26So we've got big plans with theatres. we have several
- 17:30open-air hands-on workshop sessions for more
- 17:33interactive content we're working
- 17:36with the best partners governing bodies in the industry we've got the most amazing
- 17:40sponsors exhibitor wise I mean I urge everyone to go and look at the exhibitor
- 17:44list because it really will blow your socks off and I've got the best team that's
- 17:49the other thing I really do work with um you know I work with the best.
- 17:54So, yeah, sorry, have I answered your question? I've just...
- 17:56Oh, totally. That's lovely to hear. No, it's great. I feel your enthusiasm for it.
- 18:00And I love the fact you mentioned the team because you are a great team.
- 18:04And everybody we have contact with, whatever department it is,
- 18:07you're so quick at getting back and things get done.
- 18:10And I don't know how, I don't think it's because there's so many of you.
- 18:13I just think you're all very passionate about it. And you just,
- 18:15yeah, time management must be incredible.
- 18:17And you must all get on really well together to make the whole beast move smoothly.
- 18:21And it's interesting as well because COVID was a time when a
- 18:25lot of people with other types of education realized a
- 18:29lot of video courses came out a lot of online staff consultations
- 18:32and stuff and that's when a lot of people didn't make it
- 18:35out of there and a lot of kind of education providers thought I just
- 18:37have to go online now and that's a real shame but you
- 18:40must have done something quite special because you put on
- 18:43something after COVID and then started a snowball effect
- 18:46and it grew yeah how how i mean
- 18:49you know i work in events and i clearly
- 18:52believe that people buy people i i get
- 18:55paid to talk for a living you know i love building relationships i love meeting
- 19:00new people at the end of the day you know i come from the bridal industry which
- 19:06is completely different and therapy expo is you know you've got a clinical and
- 19:10vocational delegate profile.
- 19:13And everyone involved has real high intelligence.
- 19:17You know, I'm listening to all these amazing products and services that are
- 19:21available for clinicians.
- 19:22And let's be real, you know, none of us are clinicians. But what we know how to do is run an event.
- 19:29Build a relationship and listen. The most important part of my job is listening
- 19:33to the things that we do well and the things we don't necessarily do as well,
- 19:39or listening to what people need.
- 19:42You know, we are running an event for an industry to allow people to network,
- 19:48get their education, get excited.
- 19:50My main goal is for people to come into TherapyX and go, wow,
- 19:54what an experience I can't wait for next year.
- 19:56And that's really what keeps me going. You know, the after show
- 19:59video the content resharing everyone's content seeing
- 20:03everyone interacts and i mean molly's mum
- 20:06comes to the event as a as a neurotherapist and
- 20:09yeah her feedback was actually my favorite she she just she had the best time
- 20:14she's got a bit of bias there what's she gonna say to molly yeah i didn't really
- 20:17work this year molly sorry oh i don't know she she was very honest yeah she's
- 20:23my harshest critic and she had some good words so i'll take it as a win.
- 20:27That's great now it's amazing i mean again just absolutely amazing that you
- 20:31have managed to make it grow you're doing something awfully right because there's
- 20:35such a trend in our industry just to look at,
- 20:37sometimes free cpd offered online and it's.
- 20:40Just not the same we're really trying to give the message out in the sta and
- 20:44the st school anna maria obviously is your biggest fan she's always
- 20:47i'm her biggest fan i love her
- 20:50i adore her yeah it's just that we're just
- 20:53trying so hard just to help people understand
- 20:56that our catchphrase has kind of become you don't.
- 20:59Pay for these conferences just for the educate just
- 21:02for the information if that was true then you could download a
- 21:04pdf or watch a video you pay for being there in person interacting
- 21:08with people reflecting you know being there
- 21:11with speakers teaching you or educating you
- 21:14in such a way that you are involved and it's you know you must you're obviously
- 21:18doing a lot of that because it's making people realize no i've
- 21:21got to be there for this this is not going to be a catch-up video or
- 21:24another video which is going to add to my playlist which i'm
- 21:26never really going to watch you know so it's it's good yeah molly
- 21:31how's it been for you you joined a little bit later didn't you we've had
- 21:33liam on the show this is i think this is the fourth time
- 21:36i think it's the fourth or fifth count oh no
- 21:39it was since 2021 so yeah this is the fifth countdown
- 21:42to therapy x where we've done we started off with wonderful liam
- 21:45who's still with the organization indeed yep indeed very
- 21:48much so and then he handed over to molly
- 21:51benson so what year was that i can't remember now so i
- 21:54joined the company in 2023 but so i came to
- 21:57the 2023 event that liam had done the content for so i
- 22:00got to meet a lot of people I got to see what it is that I'd be doing and
- 22:03then I started that show cycle sort of January time 2024 so yeah I did the 2024
- 22:08show and that was really good fun and it was amazing and then I started for
- 22:1225 so this will be my second edition so yeah still a bit of a newbie but still
- 22:17very much in love with the show and I'm really passionate about what I'm doing.
- 22:22What so so you watched the
- 22:252023 then 2024 was your baby and
- 22:28what kind of did you see maybe in 2023 where you
- 22:31thought okay now I'm the boss I'm going to make some
- 22:34few changes here so things already you had ideas and thought
- 22:36because you're very mild mannered and quiet but I imagine to
- 22:39do what you do underneath that calm exterior there's
- 22:42got to be something inside which is burning quite bright and thinking no I'm
- 22:45going to get this done or you would have the job I definitely had
- 22:48some ideas that's that's for sure I think the first the
- 22:51first one I really wanted to implement was the sort of streams so previously
- 22:55we just sort of had theater a b and c and the content was
- 22:58just you know you pick and choose what you want I it did
- 23:01work because of the multidisciplinary approach but I sort of thought a
- 23:04lot of people were saying that if they wanted to filter by topic
- 23:06that would be a lot easier to help decide and plan their
- 23:09days so we sort of implemented the streams so in
- 23:12doing the research I was asking people okay if you had to
- 23:15sort of rank your top three topics that you're really interested
- 23:18at the moment what would they be did a big sort of grouping project
- 23:21and figured out some streams and then sorted all
- 23:24the sessions into them so that people could have some sort
- 23:27of cohesive plan for the day of what they wanted to do and it wouldn't just
- 23:30mean sort of sitting in the same theatre all day you'd be able to bop about
- 23:33see exhibitors in between grab some lunch that sort of thing so that was something
- 23:36i was really keen on doing and i think it worked really well for 24 so yeah
- 23:40we've gone ahead with 25 and it seems to be working again so far so i'm yeah
- 23:45I'm pleased with how it's coming along.
- 23:47Fantastic. Nikki has mentioned here in the comments. And everybody,
- 23:49if you've got some questions, now's the time to ask about what's coming up,
- 23:52what you like, what you don't like.
- 23:53Nikki Mansfield says, I've been going since 2016.
- 23:562021 to 2024 are by far the best years yet for education quality and community vibe.
- 24:02Nikki Mansfield, that must sound nice. Thanks, Nikki.
- 24:06I'd say it. Amazing. So let's go, I mean, it's already somehow 8.30,
- 24:11but yeah, let's have a little look at what we have got.
- 24:14I suppose you may as well give quite a lot away because it's to get people along.
- 24:18But what have you got this year that you're kind of excited about and proud of?
- 24:22You go first, Molly. I was going to say, so we've got two brand new theatres,
- 24:27which we're really happy about.
- 24:28We've got the Business Advice Theatre, which came off the back of a lot of,
- 24:31obviously, sort of crunch financial times at the moment. A lot of people wanted
- 24:35sort of help with clinic.
- 24:36What do I track? What do I look at? But also sort of career development.
- 24:40Like, what do I want to do with my job? Where do I see myself in the future?
- 24:43So we've sort of accumulated that all into a nice theatre with a lot of different
- 24:47content, a lot of very engaging, inspirational people who've been there, done that.
- 24:52Ready to share their insights so I'm really really excited
- 24:55about that theatre and then we've got the practical skills space which
- 24:58is again for a hands-on profession it's where
- 25:01you're going to get your hands on it's where you're going to be able to try things see
- 25:04people doing things and sort of learn in a more
- 25:07practical way so again I'm really excited about that
- 25:09we've got some good speakers lined up there that's really
- 25:12yeah I think those are the two things I'm buzzing for this year and
- 25:15again it's it's it's commendable because I know that's
- 25:18two bits of feedback which have come back and also
- 25:21just where the industry is moving hopefully people are
- 25:25realizing now that rather than just having another modality to learn
- 25:27nothing wrong with that but have you ever stopped and
- 25:30thought what about my business skills maybe I should be talking to somebody to
- 25:33help me actually run a business which typically you don't get helped when you
- 25:36learn your course when you do your even when you do your degree there's not
- 25:39enough everyone says oh you don't learn until you open up
- 25:41your clinic and then it's all a surprise and it shouldn't really be that way
- 25:44you should be learning how to run a business before then so a whole
- 25:47theater dedicated to that is really cool and i urge people
- 25:50to have a look through that and even if you think i don't think i need that just
- 25:53go along and get a taste you know right from sort of starting out yeah right
- 26:00up to sort of like okay i've got my clinic now how do i grow it so any stage
- 26:04of your business any stage of your career there's something something for everyone
- 26:08in there even things like marketing ai using tiktok.
- 26:13Handling insurance and vats and there's
- 26:16loads of stuff yeah on the website again business advice theater
- 26:19all the sessions are listed there and that
- 26:22it's it's essentially tips advice from people that are doing it well and that
- 26:28want to share their knowledge and that is really therapy expo is about bringing
- 26:33every each other up supporting each other and sharing tips and advice and that's
- 26:37really the sense of community we want to bring to the Business Vice Theatre.
- 26:42It's very cool. That's great. And the practical space you mentioned,
- 26:46that's really cool as well because people, I mean, a lot of people go along.
- 26:49It did, like you say, used to be kind of more physiocentric and now you've managed
- 26:53to grow and make it truly into a multidiscipline event.
- 26:57So the practical side is really cool to see. And also there's a bit of a movement now too.
- 27:01I think there was a time when it was like hands-off. It was like people were
- 27:04saying it's either hands-on or hands-off.
- 27:05And now we're realizing, no, hands-on is part of most patient care. There's
- 27:08going to be some element of hands-on mixed with other things so what sort
- 27:11of stuff is going to be going on in the practical area then we've
- 27:15got so much such a
- 27:19long list in front of me right now but things like lymphatic drainage
- 27:22massage for lower back pain what else
- 27:26local massage therapy taping techniques heat
- 27:29treatment foot rehabilitation it i mean it's
- 27:32yeah it's extensive there's a
- 27:35lot going on and there's a lot of familiar faces but also a lot
- 27:37of brand new people on the scene people that are doing really
- 27:40cool things and have come along to share it and I think
- 27:43what I'm really keen to see in these sessions is yes there'll be demonstration
- 27:47yes there'll be a certain sort of speaker and audience interaction but there'll
- 27:51also be follow-up from it there'll be questions there'll be would you like to
- 27:54come and see how this is done from different angles you know it's it's a very
- 27:57interactive space which is obviously very different to our lecture theatre style.
- 28:01So I'm really, I'm really keen to see, to see people sort of branch out in their learning styles.
- 28:06That's really cool. That's some music to my ears. Fantastic.
- 28:08Great example. Charlotte, what are you excited about this year?
- 28:13Oh, just being there for me, the exhibitors, you know, I said it previously,
- 28:20but the wealth of exhibitors that are supporting us this year is just nuts.
- 28:27We've got Hyperice, Hydrophysio, Physique are going to be there.
- 28:32Physique are also sponsoring the MSK Theatre and doing loads more education style sessions.
- 28:37We've got Vivo Barefoot and Leguano coming to the show.
- 28:42We've got obviously the Autogy, Antigravity with SportsMed.
- 28:47Scream My Bones are going to be there. We've got the Fitness Group.
- 28:51You know, I could go on forever. We have the coolest products available.
- 28:55And I guess what actually buzzes me up is
- 28:58when you see all these offers and you
- 29:01know if you buy your consumables at therapy expo get x amount off and seeing
- 29:07people really gravitate and try machines and equipment and products and services
- 29:11that they've maybe never got in front of before and online when they're looking
- 29:16online one you can't ask questions online rarely you have to wait for an email back.
- 29:22Two, you know, you want to try products and services before,
- 29:24try before you buy, you know.
- 29:27But also the price, the online prices compared to the prices that you get when
- 29:32you commit or purchase at Therapy Expo is just nuts and people walk away feeling.
- 29:40They've got a bargain, they've got a product and service that is essentially
- 29:44going to make them more money or help them do their job better.
- 29:47And yeah, they're almost excited to go back to clinic to implement these,
- 29:53the new equipment or the new training course, start the new training course.
- 29:58Yeah, I think it's the exhibitors and the excitement from the visitors,
- 30:02the interactions that I'm most excited about and I always love being part of as well.
- 30:08That's great. We should really actually I've forgotten about Vernon which is
- 30:11terrible of me but we should mention that.
- 30:14I'm sure Vernon had a very important role in that Vernon is the business development manager,
- 30:19what is it that what is his responsibilities and what do you think I suppose
- 30:22he'd be looking forward to the same sort of thing with the exhibitors that they've
- 30:25got this year yeah so the way Vernon kind of joined the team is he was one of
- 30:32those people he was one of our exhibitors when I joined.
- 30:35He's an ex-clinician as well from the military.
- 30:38And he essentially was, you know, giving me some industry knowledge and telling
- 30:44me about all the people he knows.
- 30:46So I said, come on, Vern, you know, come and join the team.
- 30:49So Vernon now brings in the likes of ERIs and PTIs from the military,
- 30:57heads of medical from elite sports clubs, and that's across football,
- 31:00rugby tennis cricket English National Ballet Bupa
- 31:04Nuffield Asenti Ramsey so he kind of
- 31:07connects Therapy Expo to certain delegates
- 31:11to bring them to the event and he's also in charge of looking after based on
- 31:16the streams that we're running what sort of exhibitors align well with the stream
- 31:20so if we've got a particular stream for sports therapists okay well what company
- 31:25do we need exhibiting that is going to align well,
- 31:28that our delegates are going to appreciate seeing at Therapy Expo.
- 31:33So, yeah, that's what Vern does. He's a busy guy.
- 31:37He's very busy on the day. I don't think I, I don't know, maybe I'm looking
- 31:40for him, but he's the person I see moving around so much. Every corner I turn, I bump into Vern.
- 31:45I'm like, how many there are you? Have they closed you or something?
- 31:48He just moves around everywhere. I keep bumping into him. It's true.
- 31:51It's going to be fun. That's good.
- 31:53And I think it's worth saying, again, I know, again, from feedback we get.
- 31:57Not everybody obviously goes there to buy stuff from the exhibitors,
- 32:00but we just i think people need reminding that it's to
- 32:04a very large extent it's the exhibitors who pay for the
- 32:07everything else in terms of the education and the floor space and
- 32:10the ticket price and everything so even if
- 32:13you personally aren't there to buy anything the exhibitors they're
- 32:16there to help the rest of the thing happen aren't they so it's important
- 32:19it's really cool that they are coming along and interested in it because
- 32:23i think that kind of puts some people off in the feedback we get but it's yeah
- 32:26you're biting off your nose to spite your face if you think oh there
- 32:29should fabulous exhibitors no no no no let the exhibitors come in let
- 32:32them come in and show their ways because that's what allows you to put on
- 32:35such a great show with all the speakers and everything you mentioned molly that
- 32:38you got some new speakers this year which is great because i mean one of
- 32:41the other bits of feedback we get sometimes i mean everything you can't
- 32:44please all the people all the time but one of the ones that was repeated was oh it's
- 32:46a bit the same speakers again how do you find fresh talent
- 32:49how do you find fresh people to get in is that
- 32:52what you mean by doing research from like soon finishes yeah yeah
- 32:56but as a there's a couple of alleyways really one's partly
- 32:58through research so I do a lot of reading in the initial stages reading
- 33:02articles doing sort of deep dives so I pick up
- 33:04a lot of names that way of people that haven't potentially even thought about
- 33:08speaking before but I reach out to them and it turns out to work out quite nicely
- 33:12but I also rely quite heavily on the networks I've built so I think through
- 33:15our three recommendations from our advisory board through people I've got relationships
- 33:19with through working on the show.
- 33:23Everyone's so happy to sort of recommend a colleague or sort
- 33:26of recommend something that they've read about or that they they've been
- 33:29watching someone that could be really exciting and bring
- 33:32something new to the table so it is sort of
- 33:35just through my own personal therapy network that i
- 33:38find these new people i think that's how the snowball effect
- 33:41works isn't it why it does get bigger maybe because if you're networking and
- 33:44pleasing people then they're willing to bring
- 33:47along their colleagues and recommend you so it's worth putting that
- 33:50effort isn't it yeah no definitely yeah we've
- 33:53got some got some cool people coming along that i'm very excited
- 33:56about have you got any surprises that you're not allowed to talk about
- 33:58don't tell me what the surprise is but there's no secrets as
- 34:04such there's a couple of recent ones that perhaps have made it
- 34:07to the website but haven't made it to specific announcements yet so
- 34:10i recently spoke to dr chris rosimus from the
- 34:14fa who's going to come along and do a session on nutrition
- 34:17and sort of what he does with with the first teams so i'm
- 34:20really excited for that one and we've got michael turner the
- 34:23medical director from the international concussion and head injury
- 34:26research foundation so again sort of someone that i'd never spoken to before
- 34:30someone that had never spoken at a conference and we thought we'll match a very
- 34:33popular topic concussion with a brand new speaker and see what happens so yeah
- 34:38i'm i'm really excited for some of the new names that are appearing this year Jeremy Lewis.
- 34:44Oh, yes. Yeah. Good name on there. Jeremy Lewis. Yeah.
- 34:47He's also doing a practical skills session. So it's not just...
- 34:50Yeah, does not stop talking about that. Yeah.
- 34:52She's... Yeah. I think we need to get some security on that for her.
- 34:55Well, now you see no Anna Maria now.
- 34:58Yeah. Yeah. We've had loads of... She can move. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:02She'll fight. Oh, yeah.
- 35:06That's really cool.
- 35:07Yeah, it sounds very exciting. In terms of, it's so tricky, isn't it now?
- 35:12Because with a month to go, things like accommodation should have been booked already.
- 35:15And I remember we've done countdowns in the past saying, because I noticed that
- 35:18you guys, I wanted to ask you about this.
- 35:20I noticed on social media that there was, I think, more of a,
- 35:24push is the wrong word, just more information going out earlier on just to try
- 35:27and help people realize, do something now.
- 35:30Like now's the time to book ahead. Don't wait until two months. Was that,
- 35:33was there a difference in social media was that something you were trying from earlier
- 35:36on to help inform people we focused
- 35:39we well I think
- 35:42previous editions of therapy expo has been you
- 35:45know early bird early bird early bird early bird early bird you know early bird
- 35:49a week before the show sort of thing and it just never really made sense to
- 35:53me so the the marketing that we've written we've grown the marketing team number
- 35:57one and we've especially tried
- 35:59to push more of an more of the educational content behind Therapy Expo.
- 36:04So it's not only who are you going to see and what do they do,
- 36:07it's okay, right, how going to this speaker's session is going to benefit you as an individual.
- 36:14Attending Therapy Expo and how can you implement that product from this exhibitor
- 36:19into your clinic, you know, focus very much on the benefits,
- 36:22but also the additional benefits
- 36:26of securing your ticket early obviously you know
- 36:29we we run a tiered ticket
- 36:32system throughout the year so the earlier you book if you so if you come to
- 36:36therapy expo in four weeks time and actually book your ticket while you're at
- 36:42therapy expo the discount is hefty you know you really do get a cheaper rate
- 36:47and that is the benefit of booking earlier on in the year.
- 36:52Getting cheaper accommodation earlier on in the year, access to exhibitors earlier
- 36:59on, access to the programme, access to different benefits.
- 37:02But that being said, there are still accommodations still available.
- 37:06I know the Hilton, I believe, is offering a special discount on anyone involved
- 37:10in Therapy Expo. There are Airbnbs still available.
- 37:14So yeah, don't let that put you off. There's still very much a lot of availability.
- 37:19Yeah, there's definitely Airbnbs available. I know that
- 37:22from people talking to people they're still around and it's i mean
- 37:25i've never done airbnb before therapy expo just like
- 37:28i've never really got an uber i don't really go out much so it was
- 37:31like but now people are introducing me to airbnb it's incredible the price you
- 37:34can pay if you find a property especially if you if you really are with good
- 37:38friends you want to share two in a room two separate beds and you can pay very
- 37:41little amounts of money to get just around the corner from therapy expo so yeah
- 37:46look into airbnb in particular and it is yeah definitely still available.
- 37:49And also what you said is really interesting as well, because if people are
- 37:53thinking, oh, it's going to cost too much this time, how much do you know offhand
- 37:56how much you could get a ticket for 2026 for if you go to this show?
- 38:01I'll be honest with you. We are still looking at the ticket price structure for next year.
- 38:05I can't say too much, but watch this space. We've got a lot of surprises coming up.
- 38:10So I think ticket prices on site are going to be.
- 38:15Coming to Therapy Expo 2025 and booking a ticket whilst you're there is going to be very beneficial.
- 38:23You are going to reap benefits. And that is all I'm saying.
- 38:28Well, could you say two figures or three?
- 38:32You can't say it, can you? Substantially lower than it has been before.
- 38:38So a couple of digits then. We're trying to support the industry.
- 38:42You know, we're seeing so many things pop up, so many different expenses pop up for clinicians.
- 38:48And what we're aiming to do, the team are going to kill me for going into this,
- 38:53but we really are for 2026, we want to support the industry as best possible.
- 38:59And that's going to be through so many different variables.
- 39:03This year is a glimpse into what therapy expo has been and you know a progression based on 2024,
- 39:142026 is really going to blow everyone out the park i think she's good isn't
- 39:18she she good it's not giving away but just still yeah no i'm getting the truth yeah,
- 39:25i am personally buzzing to
- 39:29to get on site this year first and foremost and then
- 39:31to work on 2026 I cannot wait okay so I can't say too much so okay so there's
- 39:41another reason to if you've been gnarling about coming this year then yeah take
- 39:46advantage maybe of something that seems to be brewing out there quite special for 2026 wow.
- 39:53Definitely. I mean, I can't guarantee, I just want to make sure that people,
- 39:56I'm not giving any guarantees here.
- 39:57You can't, there's no such thing as the perfect thing for everybody.
- 40:01And it's all very individual and what you know, and what do you like being amongst
- 40:05loads of people? Some people don't.
- 40:06So, but all I can say is that the reason that, you know, like the STA and the
- 40:12ST school have been involved for so long, well, since the beginning in the case
- 40:15of the STA is because it's a good outfit and it has evolved.
- 40:18Okay. At the beginning, there was a few little things and i stopped speaking
- 40:21for a few years when i thought hold on this they told me
- 40:23to stop talking about pain it's like that doesn't quite work but then
- 40:27since covid it's just yeah it grows and grows
- 40:29and and just to remind you in case you you see
- 40:32that for example the st haven't got the st theater this year
- 40:35that's not because we've given up on therapy expo we'll still be there
- 40:38as a stand we're just excited to see other things develop and
- 40:41we've been doing our own comments and stuff and the same for the st school there's
- 40:43not a hands-on hub this year but there's still going to be a massive practical
- 40:46session it's just Anna Maria also wants to take a step back and Anna
- 40:49Maria and I are so excited because the first time probably in the history
- 40:52of therapy expert we'll be able to actually walk around and go and see different
- 40:55things and network and talk to people and and
- 40:58get an idea of how people are you know face to face
- 41:01rather than being stuck in our own cocoon and having to deliver in a
- 41:04fraction of the event so I can't wait for it
- 41:07we can actually go and have a coffee I know
- 41:10well yeah there's different I can have a I can get a coffee and
- 41:12listen to someone as opposed to just having a coffee thinking I should
- 41:15have had another one just jittering and not really taking in anything
- 41:18someone's saying to me I can make time and think I haven't got to be anywhere I
- 41:21haven't got to walk around with bits of paper and and really that's what
- 41:24it should be like for attendees you should go along
- 41:27there calm relax you haven't got to go and see
- 41:29anyone you know make your own little timetable but be flexible because you might
- 41:33meet someone there have a chat and yeah it might not hopefully it won't go to
- 41:38plan because that's where the best learning happens so the more chilled you
- 41:41can be and the more you can talk to people then generally that's going to be.
- 41:43The biggest learning experience for you so yeah very exciting.
- 41:50Have we got any questions coming in? The people in the house here,
- 41:52if you're not going to TherapyExpo, maybe tell us why.
- 41:56Share why you're not going. If you are going, then tell us what you're looking
- 41:58forward to. But we'd love to have some questions from you.
- 42:00And if you listen to the podcast and you'd like to ask a question or share some
- 42:04experience, whether it's positive, negative, whatever you want,
- 42:07then I would recommend putting it on YouTube because the YouTube comments is just better.
- 42:12And I get emails, I get notifications.
- 42:14So anything you want to know, I can pass on to the TherapyExpo team.
- 42:17I'll make sure we get an answer to it.
- 42:18So if you listen to the podcast then do if you've got a question yeah put it on the youtube,
- 42:24feed it just stays got bigger shelf life it'll stay there and we can answer
- 42:28and stuff like that so the best conversations i have are people who have said
- 42:34oh i've never been to therapy expo it's just maybe not for me and then of course
- 42:38you know i'm i'm interested to want to to see what we can do.
- 42:43My goal is I will listen to every single person and adapt the show to suit everyone.
- 42:49You know, I want there to be something for everyone.
- 42:52And you guys know your business better than I do. But all I can say is look
- 42:55at the program, look at the exhibitor offering, look at the governing bodies,
- 42:59the membership platforms, the sponsors that we work with.
- 43:02And if you see the benefit or if there's a session that you'd love to come along
- 43:06to, please do come along.
- 43:08And if you're coming in a group, again, call our Delegate Selly sales team let
- 43:11us know and we can we can do something on the ticking price for you to make sure it's feasible.
- 43:16Very cool. I'm going to bring out some of the comments here that people have been putting in now.
- 43:21Nikki Benson, again, she says, the team's approach to research for this year's
- 43:25show has been really good.
- 43:27I've been contacted by three different team members for detailed feedback and
- 43:30recommendation chats. Super proactive.
- 43:33There we go. That's working nicely. Amazing. Nikki's been incredibly helpful.
- 43:38Gary Benson, founder of the STA, who's here, has said most, I think it's Gary Benson.
- 43:42I've ever seen gary benson 4260 but yeah we'll presume it's gary no no one will
- 43:47pretend to be gary because you may as well sign your life away somebody tried
- 43:50that once and it didn't end well right most sda members who attend book a year
- 43:53in advance yeah i mean it is a little bit of education there,
- 43:57so so yeah but it is let's just
- 44:00go back to nikki here before i pass up nikki says yes i've always
- 44:03bought my ticket for next year whilst at the show i'm well happy i'm
- 44:06going to be so richly rewarded for my decade-long commitment oh
- 44:09nikki you wait oh yes they're
- 44:11fine i thought gonna say and and that as well
- 44:14yeah yeah yeah that's nikki yeah i was gonna say
- 44:17actually it's interesting you say it's getting
- 44:21the new people in isn't it because obviously people who go there three four
- 44:24five years in a row they're gonna have a whole different series of like oh i
- 44:28wish you could have this because they've experienced it but what do you think
- 44:31you do effectively or what do you try and do which gets the person who's never
- 44:34been there before to come along because i talked throughout the year of the
- 44:38podcast i'm obviously contacting people in universities and things.
- 44:42And I get people, I can't remember who it was, but I won't say who,
- 44:45but they work at university and they talk to their first year students,
- 44:49physiotherapy, and they were like, therapy what? And they're in Birmingham.
- 44:53So how is that? I know, I'm sorry if that makes your blood boil,
- 44:56but how do you manage to...
- 45:00Get your word out there rather than just online i
- 45:03tell you what this is what makes our job so exciting uh
- 45:07the fact that there are still people in the
- 45:09uk that have never heard of therapy i think it's
- 45:13really healthy to remember that but how do you get them yeah so
- 45:16we every everyone knows marketing
- 45:19budget is big so we
- 45:22do a lot of marketing adverts and and
- 45:26brand awareness but what i think we do which
- 45:28is most important is we have a whole team of people who call
- 45:33personally and have a discussion it's not
- 45:36necessarily about selling tickets it's about
- 45:39talking to people about what their needs are because like
- 45:43I've mentioned you know I've I talked till I'm blue in
- 45:45the face it is literally we are
- 45:48paid to create an event that people
- 45:52want to come back to that clinicians physios chiros osteos
- 45:55sports therapists this event is is created
- 45:59for you and if if it's
- 46:02not working then we're doing something wrong and to be completely transparent
- 46:06I want delegates and exhibitors to come back because it makes my life easier
- 46:11and the more we're supported and the more we're growing and the more opinions
- 46:15and input and collaborations we have as a network all under one roof,
- 46:21the show just thrives on that.
- 46:24And that is, I'm proud to say what has been happening.
- 46:27And I mentioned previously, again, you know, we've got a five-year plan and
- 46:31I'm super excited about 2030.
- 46:35You know, 2026, oh my God, can't wait. But 2030, I really think,
- 46:41you know, I think that's where we're going to be.
- 46:44Really thriving I think that is the time of
- 46:46when Therapy Expo is going to get to the point where
- 46:49it should be because there's so many aspects of the
- 46:52industry that we're still not tapping into there's so many clinicians that aren't
- 46:56coming to Therapy Expo and it's a lot of work you know there's we're we're a
- 47:00large-ish team but there's there's only so many conversations we can have every
- 47:04day so we're growing on our telesales team having those conversations we meet
- 47:09every single week, all of us.
- 47:11And we have a chat, a get-together, we snowball ideas, working with the advisory
- 47:17board, working with our partners and clinicians that come to the event, the MSK organisations.
- 47:24You know, this year we've got FSEM, MACP and Basrap supporting the MSK conference.
- 47:30We've got so much input and it's just really exciting
- 47:34to get those people that haven't been offering them
- 47:37something where they go okay yeah i want to come now and then
- 47:40seeing them repurchase their ticket every year it it really is a proper dopamine
- 47:45hit for us i think for me as well some of the most interesting conversations
- 47:50i've had especially sort of further out from the events and speaking to people
- 47:55that i have never even heard of it they're people i just sort of stumbled across on social media.
- 48:00And it's really interesting to understand why they might not have ever considered
- 48:03coming to shows like this.
- 48:04Like you say, they get sort of stuck in a bubble of doing online CPD or that
- 48:08they're just quite happy within their small clinic.
- 48:10But actually, when they realise that there can be huge benefits of breaking
- 48:14out of the silos or even just trying some different bits of CPD that they might
- 48:18not have even considered before can actually be incredibly interesting.
- 48:22And I sort of take it as a challenge upon myself. Every sort of reason they're
- 48:25firing at me of why they'd not thought about coming or why they might consider not coming.
- 48:28I'm sort of like okay how can we make a show
- 48:31that responds to as many of these as possible in a
- 48:34way that then works for everybody so i
- 48:37think it is really important to continue to sort of get new people along
- 48:40and adapt the show to the feedback that we're hearing but likewise
- 48:43we're so we're so grateful for our sort of
- 48:46fan base and our familiars that that we see year on
- 48:49year you know we rely so heavily on them for support and feedback
- 48:53and guidance so yeah well put
- 48:56i like it yeah it's good i think
- 48:59there are so many people who still haven't heard it and i'm always just paranoid almost
- 49:02of that we're not reaching we're dropping the ocean and and it
- 49:05is great the work you do and once the once people get
- 49:08there they can come along to the sta stand obviously and get
- 49:11even more informed go along to the st score and maria and all the other
- 49:13people there come along at 350 at theater b on
- 49:16day one learn loads about communication but yeah getting people new people there
- 49:20is so important for the industry there is a bubble we live in on social media
- 49:23and we we need the people we need more people who don't use Facebook we need
- 49:27more people who just hear hear about it by some other kind of message so it's
- 49:32really cool to hear the work you're doing on that.
- 49:35Wow, look, it's already five to nine. That went quickly, didn't it?
- 49:38That's flown, yeah. Isn't that flown? When you're talking about good times, time flies.
- 49:43So really excited about that. I've only had one cup of tea.
- 49:47Do we need a shout out for the person who bought you that cup of tea or do they not get her? We do.
- 49:53Chris is a good tea maker. There you go. Well done, Chris, on keeping Charlotte Spear fuelled.
- 50:00That's fantastic. Now, very exciting. so just to
- 50:03repeat then october the 31st is a significant
- 50:06date if especially for those of you now really is
- 50:10your last chance over the next well till the 31st to to
- 50:13save 15 off the common price and that includes people have got codes because
- 50:18the codes are off 15 off the common price so after october the 31st it's going
- 50:22to go up so really is a shout out to everybody if you decided not to go hey
- 50:26maybe you'll change your mind and hopefully this podcast will help educate you and
- 50:30give you some information. But if you're ringing an R-ing, just do it.
- 50:33Save yourself some money before the 31st.
- 50:36And also the one day, just to remind people, if you're listening to the podcast
- 50:39now and those people listening at home, then call this number 0203 978 1665,
- 50:45or go to the website and you'll get details of a one-day ticket there,
- 50:49which I think is really cool because a lot of people just can't make two days, end of.
- 50:53Okay, so this is a good opportunity to get that return ticket,
- 50:56no accommodation and still appreciate a day of networking.
- 51:00And learning in person, which has got to make the world a better place.
- 51:04I've said the website, that's therapyexpo.co.uk. If you do want to follow on
- 51:08social media, then we've got therapy underscore expo on Instagram,
- 51:12therapy expo on X, Twitter, when it was the good old days.
- 51:16And you've also got Facebook as well, just therapy expo. So loads of information
- 51:20and great posts going out there, which will keep you informed.
- 51:23But the website's amazing, just the website you can delve into and it's so easy
- 51:27to follow. So have a look out on that.
- 51:30Right then just to let you know what's happening next week so
- 51:34november the 4th at eight o'clock we're going
- 51:36to be continuing the topic of cpd conferences with an
- 51:39episode entitled after going to an msk this is a
- 51:42working title i think we're going to go for it if it fits into youtube after
- 51:45going to an msk conference how much actually changes in your clinic trying to
- 51:49trim that down but the idea is we're going to talk with five therapists who
- 51:53came along to the hands-on hub and STA conference back in September in Exmouth
- 51:56and ask them what's changed six months, six weeks later, actually in their clinics.
- 52:00A little bit of reflection on, I've been to this educational thing.
- 52:04How much am I doing differently?
- 52:05And I'm thinking now, actually, maybe we'll do the same thing with Therapy Expo.
- 52:08So if you're at Therapy Expo and you like the idea of that coming on the podcast
- 52:11six weeks after Therapy Exmo or less, then come and see me.
- 52:14I'll be either at the STA stand or you'll see me. I'm tall and got a beard.
- 52:18I think that probably narrows it down. But yeah, I'd like to have people have
- 52:21been there, come on the show six weeks and tell me how much of it.
- 52:24Because I think, like you said already, Charlotte and Molly,
- 52:27that's your goal, isn't it? To give information which will actually work in
- 52:30clinic, which will make a difference rather than just making you tick a box
- 52:33saying, oh, I've gone to see so-and-so. They were amazing.
- 52:35How much has that affected you and more importantly, your patients or clients?
- 52:39Because that's what it's all about for the industry. So we're going to talk
- 52:42about that next week and we'll talk about what ingredients helped that happen.
- 52:45And that might be interesting for anybody who's going to Therapy Expo because I
- 52:48think it is a case of sometimes changing the chip in your own head when you
- 52:51walk through the door and like we say not rushing around not trying to fit in
- 52:54as many presentations as possible there's other ways to learn better ways to
- 52:57walk away with something so we'll talk about that next week and if you want
- 53:00to join us live then again that'll be eight o'clock on tuesday november the fourth.
- 53:06Which leads me just to say thank you so much to molly
- 53:09benson thank you and charlotte spear
- 53:12thank you so much no thank you for your passion and it's
- 53:15if i wasn't excited already i'm even more excited now so me
- 53:18too i hope i say i hope the
- 53:20next four weeks go smoothly for you i know it's gonna be a roller coaster of emotions
- 53:23but i also know that it's just gonna be a cracking couple of
- 53:26days and it's all gonna come together so all the best good luck over the next
- 53:30four weeks thank you yeah it's gonna be amazing i look forward to seeing you
- 53:33both everyone who's joined us live thank you very much appreciate it if you've
- 53:36listened to the podcast then please do leave a rating or review and subscribe
- 53:40it's the only way this information gets out there it's a really important way for our industry.
- 53:44Google will operate like that. So if you just tick the box and subscribe,
- 53:48it's free, or just leave a review of a rating, then the good word comes up higher in Google.
- 53:53It's as simple as that. It's free,
- 53:54but it's a way of disseminating quality information. So please do that.
- 53:57Until then, take care of yourselves and of each other, and I hope you'll see you soon. Bye-bye.
