- 0:00Speaker 1: Har Let's send it back out to the ramos Law
- 0:02Speaker 1: line car accident you need ramos Law medical doctor and
- 0:05Speaker 1: attorney ramos Law dot com or joined by Jeff Legwald.
- 0:07Speaker 2: As we are every Thursday at nine o'clock.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Hello, leggy, morning fellas.
- 0:12Speaker 2: So we just talked to one smart learned man.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And Jake Coyn, who gave us the breakdown of the
- 0:17Speaker 1: Nuggets offseason and what should happen?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Can I give you a nerdy question to start this?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the Broncos gave Pats Tanner rays and then they
- 0:26Speaker 1: converted his base salary for twenty twenty six in future
- 0:29Speaker 1: years to option bonuses. According to over the Cap, his
- 0:32Speaker 1: cap now drops to twelve point six million dollars, down
- 0:35Speaker 1: about four million, and is lower in future years too.
- 0:38Speaker 1: How do you pay somebody more money and it counts
- 0:40Speaker 1: less against the cap.
- 0:42Speaker 4: That's just the cap accounting. When you when you turn
- 0:46Speaker 4: things into bonus, you get to spread it out for
- 0:49Speaker 4: the life of the contract. That's why people turn base
- 0:54Speaker 4: salary into signing quote unquote signing bonus often during the season,
- 1:00Speaker 4: because if the guy has four years left on his deal,
- 1:03Speaker 4: you now get to spread that over four years instead
- 1:06Speaker 4: of base salary is one hit that year. So but
- 1:12Speaker 4: what you need to do that and what the Broncos
- 1:15Speaker 4: have more than anybody else in the NFL is cash
- 1:21Speaker 4: because you have to hand the guy the check all
- 1:24Speaker 4: in one shot. And but this is this is why
- 1:28Speaker 4: some teams are looking at the Broncos like that's going
- 1:32Speaker 4: to be a problem for people, because they simply have
- 1:35Speaker 4: more cash than everyone else and they can do these
- 1:39Speaker 4: things when they choose to.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Now, you've got to be right.
- 1:43Speaker 4: You've got to pick the right players to do it with,
- 1:46Speaker 4: or you end up with the New Orleans Saints and
- 1:49Speaker 4: you've got thirty five guys on your dead money list. Uh,
- 1:53Speaker 4: because you didn't because you didn't pick.
- 1:55Speaker 3: The right ones.
- 1:56Speaker 4: But I think give in terms of safe bets in
- 2:00Speaker 4: the NFL, patser ten is pretty much a safe bet.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Today at the Valley, the Bruccos will practice. I will
- 2:08Speaker 5: watch practice, not know what the hell is going on,
- 2:11Speaker 5: and await the interviews afterwards. Davis Webb is expected to
- 2:15Speaker 5: address the media today. Clearly, the question for Davis would
- 2:18Speaker 5: be how much of this offense is he actually going
- 2:20Speaker 5: to get to run?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Jeff, Yeah, I think when you say run, I think
- 2:26Speaker 4: he is gonna call plays on game day. You know,
- 2:29Speaker 4: at least initially, you know, if it goes bad, nobody
- 2:31Speaker 4: knows how it's gonna go. If for some reason, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 4: he doesn't have success. But I think you know, Sean
- 2:38Speaker 4: Payton wouldn't have picked him if they didn't think they
- 2:40Speaker 4: would have success. But when it comes to calling plays
- 2:44Speaker 4: in the moment, I think he will have the juice.
- 2:47Speaker 4: You know, now, during the week, much like any other
- 2:53Speaker 4: team where the head coach has been a long time
- 2:55Speaker 4: play caller on one side of the ball, they're going
- 2:58Speaker 4: to be involved with Hey, I like this section of
- 3:01Speaker 4: the playbook this week. I like these third down plays.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I like these red zone plays. There's gonna be a
- 3:10Speaker 4: lot of that because you know, Sean Payton isn't gonna
- 3:13Speaker 4: go all the way to the sidelines, just like Mike
- 3:15Speaker 4: Shanahan didn't whenever he let Gary Kubiak call plays, which
- 3:21Speaker 4: happened once in a while, he didn't just step away
- 3:24Speaker 4: and hold his hands up and say never mind.
- 3:26Speaker 3: So Sean will be involved.
- 3:28Speaker 4: But in the moment in games, it's gonna be the
- 3:31Speaker 4: Davis Web Show because I mean, Sean made the decision
- 3:36Speaker 4: because he wants the offense to move faster and it
- 3:39Speaker 4: you know, you can't tell a ton in OTAs, but
- 3:43Speaker 4: they did move faster, you know when we were out
- 3:46Speaker 4: there and it was Davis Web on the walkie talkie,
- 3:52Speaker 4: you know, into the quarterback helmets.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Okay, that's good, but the bucks still stop With Sean
- 3:57Speaker 6: Payton game plan is still Sean Payton. We've been talking about, well,
- 4:01Speaker 6: I think you gonna utilize this guy better. How much
- 4:03Speaker 6: will Jodah Coleman figure into it? All these different kinds
- 4:05Speaker 6: of things. But if Sean Payton is still drawing up
- 4:08Speaker 6: the game plan with help like always, I mean, isn't
- 4:12Speaker 6: that the base as to what you want to do?
- 4:13Speaker 6: I mean, how much different can it really look? With
- 4:16Speaker 6: Web calling the quote plays?
- 4:18Speaker 4: I like, play calling is a big deal most because,
- 4:21Speaker 4: as we've seen, the Sean Payton play sheet includes several
- 4:28Speaker 4: dozen plays they don't get to in a game. So
- 4:32Speaker 4: sequencing what plays you're picking in what order?
- 4:36Speaker 3: You know?
- 4:37Speaker 4: Do you do you go for the kill shot when
- 4:39Speaker 4: you have a chance, do you you know, how do
- 4:41Speaker 4: you do you go for the big play after a turnover?
- 4:44Speaker 4: All those things are play calling decisions. You know, the
- 4:48Speaker 4: disappearance of the run game often last year, that's a
- 4:52Speaker 4: play calling decision.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Uh, just simply getting the play in.
- 4:56Speaker 4: How often was Bo Nicks looking at the sideline saying, hey,
- 5:01Speaker 4: let's get a play in and then they get to
- 5:04Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage with nine seconds on the play clock.
- 5:07Speaker 4: That's play calling. Those are all significant play calling. You know,
- 5:13Speaker 4: those decisions have power, and I don't I don't want
- 5:17Speaker 4: to cheapen the fact that that's gonna be Davis Webb
- 5:21Speaker 4: making those decisions. Now, Sean Payton's gonna have a headset
- 5:25Speaker 4: on and there's gonna be plenty of times when he's
- 5:28Speaker 4: gonna say some stuff, But in the moment, much like
- 5:32Speaker 4: Sean Payton did to Bill Parcells, in the moment, your
- 5:36Speaker 4: play caller is gonna make that decision. And as a
- 5:39Speaker 4: head coach, you're gonna love it sometimes. And there's gonna
- 5:42Speaker 4: be some times on Monday where you say, hey, next time,
- 5:46Speaker 4: try this.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Jeff Lagwold with us. All conversations with leg you brought
- 5:50Speaker 1: to you by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBW
- 5:53Speaker 1: Local sixty eight start with a job and with a career.
- 5:56Speaker 1: For a player going into the final year of his contract.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I find it interesting that Marvin Mims decided I want
- 6:03Speaker 1: a new agent heading into training camp. I'm not saying
- 6:08Speaker 1: that he would cause a stink if he wasn't getting
- 6:12Speaker 1: the reps he felt like he deserved in a contract
- 6:14Speaker 1: year in camp.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But could this be a potential problem.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I mean, I think he knows that the writings on
- 6:23Speaker 4: the wall that if he wants a bigger deal, he's
- 6:27Speaker 4: probably gonna have to go elsewhere. I think he's resigned
- 6:29Speaker 4: himself to that. I mean, they traded for Jalen Waddell.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You know, they.
- 6:35Speaker 4: They've drafted what four wide receivers in the last three
- 6:39Speaker 4: drafts or whatever. I mean, they have made their intentions clear.
- 6:44Speaker 4: He's got a you know, there's no shortage of information
- 6:48Speaker 4: on his side of the equation. He's been here for
- 6:52Speaker 4: multiple years with Sean Payton, and every year they say
- 6:56Speaker 4: the same things, and every year he gets roughly the
- 6:58Speaker 4: same number of snaps. So and he just didn't get
- 7:01Speaker 4: a new agent. He got a powerhouse agency. Athletes First
- 7:07Speaker 4: is you know, one of the bigger agencies working in
- 7:10Speaker 4: the NFL.
- 7:12Speaker 6: They've got now do they have a billion clients, but
- 7:15Speaker 6: they got a billion agents, Like I mean, this is
- 7:18Speaker 6: it's heavy duty is a Jerry McGuire.
- 7:22Speaker 4: No, he didn't just go out and say, hey, I'm switching,
- 7:25Speaker 4: I'm switching agent. He went and found himself a powerhouse
- 7:29Speaker 4: agency because I think Marvin's a very smart guy. I mean,
- 7:34Speaker 4: he understands in the NFL, you're not getting very many
- 7:39Speaker 4: swings at free agency and you got to maximize every
- 7:43Speaker 4: single one because that's your earning power. And it's a
- 7:47Speaker 4: very short window in that league. Uh and your you're
- 7:51Speaker 4: earning window is is very tight. So you got this
- 7:55Speaker 4: may be his one really good chance to get any
- 7:58Speaker 4: kind of deal that that he would like. And I
- 8:01Speaker 4: think it will be elsewhere unless something happens here.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I don't expect.
- 8:05Speaker 4: And just in talking to Marvin even over the last
- 8:08Speaker 4: season and a half, I think he's understood that.
- 8:10Speaker 3: And that was even before they brought Waddle in.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Let me tell you something about that agency.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Athletes.
- 8:16Speaker 5: First, at the Super Bowl in San Francisco, they rented
- 8:20Speaker 5: out an old cathedral, an old church, turned it into
- 8:24Speaker 5: a nightclub, invited everybody that was them, that was them.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I was at that one, Jeffrey, were you at that party?
- 8:32Speaker 4: I've been to many parties over the years, not that one.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Is it just because it was a cathedral? Is that
- 8:38Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 8:39Speaker 3: Again?
- 8:39Speaker 5: I felt like I was sinful, Like should I be
- 8:42Speaker 5: kneeling and doing a rosary here or drinking this wine?
- 8:45Speaker 5: I didn't know what to do.
- 8:47Speaker 3: It is a little idea.
- 8:48Speaker 4: There is a place in Chicago too that that is
- 8:51Speaker 4: a very has been a very active club restaurant type
- 8:56Speaker 4: place through the years under many different names.
- 8:59Speaker 3: That is a very old former stone church.
- 9:02Speaker 2: But there's one in Denver called the Church Night Club. Correct.
- 9:06Speaker 6: So, so, Leggy's not, You're not You're not down on
- 9:09Speaker 6: the booze doing the E D M thing, glows sticks
- 9:14Speaker 6: and all. It's not it's not your styles.
- 9:15Speaker 3: What you're saying. Oh I never said that moment?
- 9:18Speaker 6: Oh okay, okay, good I didn't you and Reichert berd Man,
- 9:21Speaker 6: I can't wait for the photo.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Wait.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Just on that subject though, just one follow up, because
- 9:25Speaker 1: I've heard Arrett Bulls talk about it, ERD, Jalil McLoughlin
- 9:28Speaker 1: talk about it. I heard Sean Payton anybody who was
- 9:30Speaker 1: asked about Jayleen Waddell says, oh my gosh, this guy
- 9:32Speaker 1: is an absolute godsend to this offense. I get it
- 9:36Speaker 1: because He's probably the most athletic, explosive player you've had
- 9:40Speaker 1: in years on offense for the Broncos. But are are
- 9:45Speaker 1: they putting too many eggs in the Wattle basket? Like
- 9:48Speaker 1: if Wattle goes down with an injury and he's out
- 9:50Speaker 1: for two months, is all that just disappear?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Now you understand what I'm asking? Is it too much
- 9:56Speaker 2: pressure on just the man?
- 9:58Speaker 4: I mean, if bo Nicks go out with an injury,
- 10:01Speaker 4: it all disappears, and that's injury. Is I always just
- 10:06Speaker 4: think that's I'm not even sure you can sort of
- 10:09Speaker 4: consider that. I mean, it's just it's gonna happen, So
- 10:13Speaker 4: somebody's getting injured.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:14Speaker 2: In the NFL, I have scoring though.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Jerry Judy every year looked like this amazing guy in
- 10:20Speaker 1: camp and then like the numbers wouldn't be out.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I'm got that a lot of that was the traditional.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I mean we see it all over the league. Social
- 10:28Speaker 4: media has made OTAs and mini camp and even training
- 10:32Speaker 4: camp outsized in the how things are going department that
- 10:38Speaker 4: I I always tell fans be careful of where you're
- 10:41Speaker 4: getting your information. I know, it's very exciting to see
- 10:45Speaker 4: a guy throw a ball against air but there are
- 10:48Speaker 4: so many things you don't want to take into account.
- 10:51Speaker 4: But I mean, Jerry Judy never had one hundred catch season.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Jerry Judy was never one of the most you know,
- 10:59Speaker 4: yards per you know yards after catch leaders in the league.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Wattle's a different player than that, Yeah, And I think
- 11:08Speaker 4: it's that, you know, that's a different comparison to me.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Wattle's a proven commodity whose output went down because their
- 11:17Speaker 4: offense was lots stinkier, you know, as it went on.
- 11:22Speaker 4: What he does and I've said this to folks, The
- 11:27Speaker 4: Broncos have receivers and tight ends who win off the snap.
- 11:31Speaker 4: They win the route, but the window doesn't stay open
- 11:35Speaker 4: very long because of explosiveness. Pat Bryant wins a lot,
- 11:39Speaker 4: but he runs a four to six forties. So after
- 11:42Speaker 4: the win, the defender closes the gap if the ball
- 11:45Speaker 4: doesn't appear quickly. Wattle keeps the window open. He wins
- 11:49Speaker 4: the route, and he keeps winning because he can't reel
- 11:53Speaker 4: him in. That's the difference between him and other impactful receivers.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yes, receivers keep the win open.
- 12:03Speaker 4: The wind stays a win through the route, and that's
- 12:07Speaker 4: the difference between Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase. They keep
- 12:12Speaker 4: the win going and that's why they're you know, put
- 12:16Speaker 4: up the numbers they do.
- 12:18Speaker 6: I I will not be there today for the Joe
- 12:22Speaker 6: Saka news conference. A new and I'm gonna get an aircut.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 12:25Speaker 6: And I've been given all kinds of grief from my
- 12:28Speaker 6: partner here who Latida. He's going, Uh, what am I
- 12:32Speaker 6: missing today? What until we get to training camp, Jeff,
- 12:35Speaker 6: what am I really missing?
- 12:36Speaker 5: I'll answer that question for you. What I'm gonna go
- 12:39Speaker 5: out there and I'm going to watch Jeff Legwald glare
- 12:43Speaker 5: at bo Nicks's ankles. How closely will you be glaring
- 12:46Speaker 5: at his ankles?
- 12:48Speaker 3: Well, you know, it would be wrong of me not
- 12:50Speaker 3: to say that.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I don't glare at everything during practice, So that's a
- 12:55Speaker 4: that's a safe bet. I'm in glare mode during practice.
- 13:00Speaker 6: You have you have those sunglasses that have that weird
- 13:05Speaker 6: hitch thing on them on the sides, still have those?
- 13:09Speaker 3: Of course I never get anything.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Okay, all right, so you'll be glaring through your glasses
- 13:14Speaker 6: so nobody can really see what you're glaring at, but
- 13:16Speaker 6: you are glaring.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Okay, It's a constant Claire during God all right, I'm
- 13:21Speaker 4: in my mode.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I guess my mode.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I would like to before I let you go, by
- 13:25Speaker 1: the way, Leggy, apologize for Vic talking incredibly loudly to
- 13:28Speaker 1: Steve Nelson while you were giving us an answer.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It was the loudest talkback I've ever heard in my life.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Do you know why I did that? I have no
- 13:36Speaker 2: idea why.
- 13:37Speaker 3: You don't know why.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Hey Nelly, Nelly, get on the mic and tell everybody
- 13:40Speaker 5: why I did that.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Nelly.
- 13:42Speaker 7: Well, Mosuer and I were talking about the livery that
- 13:45Speaker 7: he had coming up, and so Vic got in my
- 13:46Speaker 7: ears and was going, Hey, Nelly, I just want to
- 13:49Speaker 7: have full on conversations with you, the way that Mosuer
- 13:51Speaker 7: has full on conversations with you during segment, every.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Segment, every segment we do, Moser hits the talk back
- 13:56Speaker 5: and starts having these conversations with Nelly.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And I'm so tired of it that I decided to
- 14:01Speaker 2: give me what you disrespected, Leggy, and I don't collateral damage.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Tough, tough.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I just had to give moture the peace.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Ok.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Gotch Uh? Jeff, You're the best. Always appreciate it.
- 14:13Speaker 3: My life is not always recess.
- 14:16Speaker 4: I understand that I'm ready I'm ready when I come
- 14:18Speaker 4: on the morning show for the for the personality clashes.
- 14:24Speaker 2: That's it. You're the one who does it every single segment.
- 14:28Speaker 4: You're doing the radio thing, Jeff, you don't need to
- 14:31Speaker 4: hear all this, this lover's quarrel that we have.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah,
