- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so very much for tuning in to this program.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Today, I appreciate the fact that you would invest a little bit of your time with me.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, on the subject of time, you've got to wonder.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: What was it like before time even began?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's kind of the subject that we are dwelling on here on Bible Tract Echoes this week.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're turning back the clock just a little bit to a message I preached very recently at my home church and in that message I turn the clock all the way back to the beginning.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis chapter 1, 1, the Bible says this, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Verse 2 says, and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: and God said in verse 3, let there be light, and there was light.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now you might be wondering, why preach from Genesis?
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's interesting to me that everything, of course, can trace its beginning back to Genesis.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I look at this verse, Genesis 1, verse 1,
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, if I was making a case for the most powerful, most awe-inspiring verse in Scripture, it might be this one.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now you say, my God, you got John 316, you got Romans 828, you got Philippians 413, you got all these great options, but you're going with Genesis 1, 1.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well of course, it's the first verse.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: But you might make a case that there is no verse in Scripture.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: that really conveys more raw mind-boggling physical power than this verse here.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that God could speak nothing into existence,
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible to think about the power of God's creation and what a blessing it is to serve a God of such power.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's a little bit about what we're going to talk about today.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you to tune in to listen in with your intention.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Not just let play in the background.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to listen on purpose today and ask the question is God speaking to you.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: We could have dove head first into creation itself and what a study that is and we won't take the full time.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: But look at verse number, look at verse number seven.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Or verse number six of Genesis 1 and God said, let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters in verse 8 and God called the firmament heaven.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: And the evening in the morning with a second day light, of course, was made on the first day.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: And verse 9 in God said, let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place and let the dry land appear.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it was so, and then we see the evening in the morning of verse 13, where the third day.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then we have the lights in the firmament for the seasons for the days.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: We have the moon, the sun, and verse 16, God made two great lights.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: The greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: He made the stars also, it's incredible that he just sums up the stars also in one little turn of phrase.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I know we're zoomed in to earth, into our little realm here, but you realize how many billions upon billions of on trillions of stars.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: And he,
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: May the stars also, what a crazy thing.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: Verse number 19 and evening in the morning with a fourth day and verse 20 and God said, let the waters bring forth abundantly, the moving creature they have to life and foul the may fly above the earth so he makes the birds and the water, born animals and God saw that it was good and verse 21 and verse 23 and the evening in the morning with a fifth day now.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what your best five day work
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: But you can't compete with all he accomplished there.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't even gotten close, right?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: But he wasn't done yet.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: He then creates the land dwelling animals and man.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Look at verse number 26 in God said, let us make man in our image.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: And after our likeness, you could talk about the Trinity there.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: The fact he says, our word, let them have dominion of the fish, the sea, and of the fall of the air, and of the cattle, and over all the earth.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: And over every creeping thing that creeped upon the earth, so God created man in his own image, verse 28, and God blessed them, and God sent them to them, be fruitful and multiply.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: And verse number 31, and God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good in the evening in the morning where the sixth day.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: but it's crowning achievement of it all.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: And the one that he created for fellowship, which will prove from the Bible in just a moment, was man.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to introduce a series here in Genesis as a Lordly's, but I want to ask you a simple question.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like it says in verse number three, of Genesis one, look at it with me for just a moment and God said, Genesis one, three.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let there be light.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: there was a light.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: I believe you can find and not going to make too much out of it, but I do want to make the application today, but I believe you begin to see the story of God's grace even in the first three verses of Scripture.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, before we get to that point,
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'd say Genesis 1-1 may be the most powerful physical display in Scripture, but I would say it might not be the most powerful display in all Scripture.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I mean about that.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to that in just a moment, but why was man created, very quickly, for fellowship?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: What did God do in Genesis 3-8?
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: He walked with man, didn't he?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: Enoch walked with God.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Other scriptures exist 25-8 and let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: God, throughout human, through our time, has been trying to re-repair and put together the relationship that was, that was sunneder that was broken in the early part of Genesis.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: Because of sin, the relationship was fractured and his desire is to have that fellowship.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 16, 11, in thy presence, the Psalm is said, is fullness of joy at thy right hand, there are pleasures forever more.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 42, my soul thirsteth for God, for the living God.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: Isaiah 43, seven, fear not, for I am with thee.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: This is God speaking.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: I will bring thy seed from the east and from the west.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I will say the north give up and to the south keep not back.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Bring thy sons from afar and thy daughters from the ends of the earth.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Even everyone that is called by my name, for I have created him.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: God speaking here, for my glory.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: I have formed him.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: You realize that this is why we were created.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he's so desires fellowship with us that we were created for that purpose, but there is this fracture that happens.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have time to look at it.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: The serpent begiles lies to Eve, and she takes of that fruit, gives it to her husband, he sends with her, and what happens.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily physically like it may have been in Genesis 1, 2, and 3, but there becomes a problem, and it becomes darkness.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: the darkness of sin.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: You can't tell me, what does Satan make himself appear to be an angel of light?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's a good fake.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good phony.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good counterfitter.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to look like to appear like that which is right and holy.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: If he actually showed up with sulfur smoke and a pitchfork in horns, you'd say, I don't know if I want to go with that guy.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: There is pleasure and sin for a season.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: It loels you in, doesn't it?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Before it sinks its fangs, and you or strikes you to deliver as Proverbs tells us.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: The heart, it's naturally evil, corrupt, deceitful, Jeremiah 79, the heart of deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked who can know it.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Ephesians 14, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God,
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: John 319, light is coming to the world's portion of the verse, light is coming to the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Romans 121, their foolish heart was darkened.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: I could go on and on with scriptural proofs, but look at verse number two of Genesis 1, you're still there, Genesis 1, verse two, and the earth was without form and void.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Darkness, chaotic, empty, dark, lifeless, unable to fix itself.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you, there is no single-cell organism that decided to come out of a hot vent and make itself into something that it was not, and at some point grew some legs or flippers or fins and eyeballs and all that type of stuff, Darwin himself said, it's a hide-of-follow to think that the eyeball could have been created by evolution.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't believe it himself.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: And there's an entire theory that's been purported, theory, not fact, theory, because no one's ever seen a dog give birth to something that wasn't a dog.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: No matter what physical maladies there may have been, whatever it was, birth, probably can't reproduce itself either.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Point being is this, darkness.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's caused a problem that pervades every part of the human race.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's unable to fix itself, but look at the rest of the verse, and the spirit of God move upon the face of the waters.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we find our place to verse 3.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's a pattern here that's darkness.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: The spirit moves.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: God speaks.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Light comes.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Verse 3 and God said, aren't you glad when God speaks up?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you may think it's cool to say, hey, Siri, or okay Google, or Alexa, this, Alexa, that, whatever it may be.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: But God spoke to nothing and something answered.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty incredible, is it not?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And God said, let there be light, and there wasn't somebody standing like dosing off next to a massive breaker, and he just went, no, no, it just happened, just like that.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: And God said, let there be light, and this is Paul's argument in St. Corinthians chapter four.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: He says this, for God, verse 6, who commanded the light, the light.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: to shine out of darkness, have shine in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: You say, how can you make this application from Genesis 1 through 3?
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if Paul made an application and put light versus darkness in creation versus disorder, then I think I want to study ground, biblical, to do so, okay?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: But he made the exact point that we had darkness in our hearts and God flipped the lights on.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: I believe if you could rank every miracle that God has done, Genesis 1, 1 would stand alone at the top except for one that supersedes it.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the Word that God can do in the human heart is greater still.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Do you realize, friend?
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: God spoke to nothing, and something happened.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe today, maybe right now he, God Almighty the creator of the universe, is speaking to you.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thankful for the spirit of God moving as the Bible mentions in verse 2 of Genesis 1.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm especially grateful for God speaking.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: First, three of Genesis 1 and God said, let there be light in there was light.
