- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:04culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:07media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:11through Thursday and sometimes Fridays like today.
- 0:14I'm your host Lauren Meisner, the founder of the youth digital
- 0:17media brand Centennial World. Welcome back to Mini Scroll
- 0:22everyone. All right, let's get straight
- 0:24into the stories for today because I have like 3 1/2
- 0:27stories for you guys. The first story that I have for
- 0:29you guys is that Emma Chamberlain has partnered with
- 0:32Pinterest. So Pinterest has launched its
- 0:35first ever product collaboration with the Queen of coffee, Emma
- 0:38Chamberlain. This is very cool.
- 0:40So they have Co created a special edition coffee mix with
- 0:43Emma's brand, Chamberlain Coffee, and it will be promoted
- 0:47and sold within the app itself. Quote the limited edition in Sea
- 0:51Salt Toffee flavored blend. Oh my God that sounds so good.
- 0:54Will be available for purchase on 17th June on Chamberlain
- 0:57Coffees website in the UK, United States, Canada and Europe
- 1:00as well as via Chamberlain Coffees Pinterest profile, said
- 1:03Pinterest. That's such a cool vibe.
- 1:05I'm very sad that I can't get this in Australia.
- 1:08Apparently the collab was inspired by Emma's pins,
- 1:11particularly pins about the fisherman aesthetic.
- 1:14So that tracks, I feel like. So the fisherman aesthetic is
- 1:16like one of the biggest aesthetic trends on Pinterest
- 1:18for 2025. They released that in like their
- 1:21Pinterest predicts at the end of last year.
- 1:23And I feel like a lot of it was actually because of Emma
- 1:26Chamberlain. Like, she's such a style icon,
- 1:28and her style has really been evolving towards that vibe over
- 1:31the past like, year or so. And so, yeah, I feel like she
- 1:34was kind of like a pioneer in bringing back like, the
- 1:37fisherman aesthetic or like bringing it into kind of the
- 1:40cultural zeitgeist in a cool way for the girlies.
- 1:43And this makes sense. Like Pinterest has really been
- 1:47pushing Pinterest predicts. That's like their trend report,
- 1:50all of their trending data. They've really been trying to
- 1:53own that space, it feels, over the past couple of years.
- 1:56And this is a great example of how they're possibly going to
- 2:00leverage this in the future, like taking the year's biggest
- 2:03trend, for example, like trend predictions in certain
- 2:07categories and like collaborating with different
- 2:09creators, different brands to create products to suit those
- 2:13trends. I think it's such a cool idea.
- 2:14OK, The next word that I have for you guys is that Remy Cruz
- 2:17got married over the weekend and we need to talk about it since
- 2:21our 2010's Lifestyle Girlies episode really exploded.
- 2:25Like it exploded all over Spotify on YouTube.
- 2:28It did really well as well. I realized a lot of you guys
- 2:31care about this niche so I figured why not cover this.
- 2:33So OG lifestyle vlogger Remy Cruz AKA Remy Ashton got married
- 2:37over the weekend and everyone is talking about it obviously
- 2:40because the wedding is beautiful, but also because she
- 2:42had one very specific A list guest.
- 2:45So Remy got married in Santa Barbara over the weekend to Cal
- 2:48Parsons. The two met on Hinge in 2019 and
- 2:52Alicia Marie was her maid of honor.
- 2:54Iconic. I mean they host a podcast
- 2:55together and stuff. They're still obviously besties
- 2:57but like it's so nostalgic. So the Internet is losing its
- 3:01mind though because 1 of Rummys wedding guests was Lana Del Rey.
- 3:04Obviously Remy has been famous on the Internet for a long time,
- 3:08but like the distance between a twenty 10s vlogger to like an A
- 3:12list singer like Lana Del Rey is so wide.
- 3:17Everyone was like, how did this happen?
- 3:19So here's how it happened. OK, here's the background.
- 3:21In 2023, Lana Del Rey approached Remy's friend Ollie at the
- 3:26Billboard Women in Music event. So the clip went super viral,
- 3:29but it's basically just Lana spotting Ollie in the crowd and
- 3:32being like, Oh my God, I watch you and Remy like every day on
- 3:35YouTube. Oh.
- 3:38My God stop. I watch you every day.
- 3:42Shut the fuck up. And then Lana also mentioned
- 3:46Ollie Remy and Alicia Marie in her acceptance speech, saying
- 3:50like it was so cool to meet the vloggers that helped me get
- 3:52through COVID. I'm so glad I got to meet the
- 3:55vloggers who got me through COVID, Remy Ashton, Ollie and
- 3:59Alicia Marie. And then apparently after this,
- 4:02the four of them started a group chat.
- 4:05Imagine just like casually being in a group chat with Lana Del
- 4:08Rey because she's a fan of you. OK, so they got in a group chat
- 4:12and then I guess Lana scored an invite to the wedding.
- 4:15It was only 140 people. Like for Lana Del Rey to go to
- 4:18that wedding is so cool. That's also how I would use my
- 4:21like low key A list fame, though if I was an A Lister is I would
- 4:25just find all of the creators that I'm obsessed with and
- 4:28there's a lot of them and I'd be like DM ING them and befriending
- 4:31them. Like why not?
- 4:32That would be like the best part.
- 4:34OK, the next word that I have, you guys, I wanted to talk about
- 4:37this article in the New York Post Questionable, I know.
- 4:41OK, but stick with me. They interviewed a bunch of Gen.
- 4:44Z girls on why they love the Park sweatshirts, and I
- 4:49basically took all of their answers and put together the
- 4:51main themes. And I think it's really
- 4:53interesting to talk about. So if you're not familiar with
- 4:55Park, it's a clothing brand by Chelsea Kramer.
- 4:57Chelsea's middle name is Park. Park with an E so it's named
- 5:01after her. Obviously the brand is self
- 5:03funded and it brought in $16,000,000 in net revenue last
- 5:07year alone. And it is so insanely culty.
- 5:11Mostly their sweatshirts. So the brand started in 2022 by
- 5:15repurposing denim and has since expanded into a full-fledged
- 5:18fashion line. But like I said, the sweatshirts
- 5:20that basically say park in giant Letterman letters across the
- 5:23front, those are like staple cult items and Gen.
- 5:27Z girls are obsessed with them. So based on the interview news
- 5:31in this article, here are the main reasons why Park has become
- 5:33so successful with Gen. Z.
- 5:35First, the sweatshirts feel really exclusive and there's a
- 5:38sense of urgency for the drops. Quote, if you're not on the
- 5:41website when there's a drop, you're out of luck.
- 5:43As in like they'll sell out like that, so you won't get one.
- 5:46The interviewees also told the journalist that once you see
- 5:48other people with the same sweatshirt drop, that drop
- 5:51becomes less cool. So then you want to buy the
- 5:54newer drop so you always remain relevant.
- 5:57So that's how they also get repeat customers because there's
- 6:00like a very specific specific number of items per drop.
- 6:02So it's like, oh, you got the new drop.
- 6:04Well, now I got the new drop. That's no longer cool.
- 6:07So we're going to have to wait for the next one, but we're
- 6:08going to have to be on the website when it drops, otherwise
- 6:11it's going to be sold out and we're not going to get it.
- 6:13Quote. You see people with the new
- 6:14sweatshirt and everyone would be like, Oh my God, you got the new
- 6:17park. One of the girls said, but I
- 6:18think once everyone has it and it becomes easy to get, it's not
- 6:22going to be as trendy. A lot of them also said they
- 6:25like the look of like the Letterman branding.
- 6:28I would say that's probably not. I think they they do like the
- 6:32look, but like so many brands do that I don't think that's the
- 6:34reason why these sweatshirts have absolutely exploded.
- 6:38And they also said another main theme was that they like that
- 6:41it's a newer brand. So it feels like they've
- 6:43discovered something that's like on the cusp before everyone
- 6:47else. However, in the article, they
- 6:49talked about some of the criticisms around Park.
- 6:51So a creator, Abby French, who was known as sustainable fashion
- 6:55friend Quote, went into private investigator mode and
- 6:58screenshotted all of Cramer's videos to dig deeper.
- 7:00She believes Kramer buys $15 sweatshirts on Alibaba and puts
- 7:04Park on them and sells them for over 8 times the price.
- 7:08French said. If a brand is telling you that
- 7:10they're transparent, they should at least be a little
- 7:12transparent, even if it's in pricing or where it's made.
- 7:15You should be asking more from a brand that is charging you a lot
- 7:18for something. So I agree with this.
- 7:20And there's they quoted other creators as well and like other
- 7:23like fashion experts on this exact topic and how it kind of
- 7:27feels like these girls are getting ripped off.
- 7:28And while I absolutely agree with the sentiment and I wish
- 7:32that was the case, I have been a teenage girl and I can tell you
- 7:36that if everybody was saying that like this garbage bag brand
- 7:41was like the thing to wear to school or the thing to wear out.
- 7:45And I literally had to put a plastic garbage bag over top of
- 7:50my clothes and all of my friends were doing it and it was like
- 7:52the cool thing. And that garbage bag cost $300.
- 7:56You can believe I would be begging my parents to buy me
- 8:00that $300 plastic garbage bag even if I only wore one time
- 8:05because it like absolutely fell apart after wearing it.
- 8:07Like it doesn't matter. It's not about the fact that
- 8:10these sweatshirts cost $15. These girls probably don't give
- 8:12a shit. Like they you could tell them
- 8:14this and they would not care that they are being ripped off
- 8:17because they don't feel like they're being ripped off.
- 8:19The girls are not paying for a quality piece of clothing.
- 8:22They are spending their money to be part of the community, to be
- 8:26part of a trend, to be like within the in Group, in their
- 8:30social circle. That's what they're paying for
- 8:33for for the entrance into the in Group essentially.
- 8:36I'm interested to see where part goes.
- 8:38Like I said, they are a full-fledged fashion brand and
- 8:40they are doing really well. They're doing cool
- 8:41collaborations and stuff like that.
- 8:43And they do pop ups and whatever.
- 8:45But you know, once the trend of these sweatshirts inevitably
- 8:48dies because it will, it'll be interesting to see how they can
- 8:51sustain beyond that because, you know, these are going to get so
- 8:54insanely popular that they become like, cringe to be
- 8:57wearing. And, you know, like Gen.
- 8:59Z girls, like, they will age out of caring about that kind of
- 9:02stuff. And they'll care more about,
- 9:04like we were talking about right now, like, just like buying
- 9:06quality clothing instead of basically paying to be part of
- 9:10like an in Group. And yeah, it'll be interesting
- 9:12to see where the brand goes. OK.
- 9:14And then the last, like, half story that I have for you guys
- 9:17is that Brooke Schofield is possibly engaged.
- 9:19And that is essentially the gist of the story.
- 9:22Everyone all over Reddit is convinced that Brooke is engaged
- 9:25based on things that she said about her relationship on the
- 9:27podcast and also because she appears to be wearing an
- 9:30engagement ring and some of her recent photos, including
- 9:33pictures she took today of her working out at the Aloe gym, and
- 9:36you can see it looks like she's wearing a ring when she's like
- 9:38on the reformer. So yeah, people are like, Brooke
- 9:40is engaged. I wonder why she's not talking
- 9:42about it. I know why she's not talking
- 9:43about it if that's the case. Because her boyfriend is
- 9:47constantly, for good reason, in so much heat online.
- 9:51Everybody is constantly backing on Brooke for dating him because
- 9:55he has a history and alleged history with a minor.
- 9:59I think I've covered that before so you guys can look it up.
- 10:02It's literally all over the Internet.
- 10:04But yeah, so I guess maybe Brooke could be engaged to this
- 10:06man. Anyways, guys, that's it for
- 10:08Mini Scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
- 10:10I love you guys. Please rate, review and
- 10:12subscribe. Please also buy us a coffee if
