- 0:00It's Most Things Kenobi, an elegant podcast for a more
- 0:05civilized fandom. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:20episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:24all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Lauren.
- 0:28And I'm your host, Leanne. I think we need to insert a
- 0:31klaxon here. We can add, I will add a klaxon.
- 0:37Here we go, klaxon alert. We've got news.
- 0:51Yeah. Oh my God, we actually do.
- 0:58We have big news. Obi Wan is coming on the show
- 1:03again. Yes, yes he is.
- 1:08It's happening. We're so excited.
- 1:10We are just like beaming over here 'cause we were doing our
- 1:15watch party last Friday. For Patreon, was it that?
- 1:19It seems like a month has gone by since.
- 1:22I know, seriously, Oh my God, we were watching like we're
- 1:26currently watching the Kenobi series episode by episode with
- 1:30our Jedi Masters in in our Patreon and it's like a live
- 1:33watch party and then this happened.
- 1:37Yeah, I'm like, hold up, everybody.
- 1:40I'm busy. I got an answer to this text
- 1:42message from James Arnold Taylor.
- 1:44Pause the video. And so we all waited because
- 1:49Lauren is busy texting with Obi Wan which is so amazing.
- 1:53So he texts us. It's.
- 1:54Crazy. Our life is surreal.
- 1:56I I don't know how this happened, but I'm happy that it
- 1:59did. Me too.
- 2:02Well, I guess he's been seeing our posts about the Sith Obi
- 2:05Wan. And I was kind of joking with
- 2:07him on our post, like, hey, why don't you come on and talk about
- 2:09it? And he's like, I'll have my
- 2:10people call your people. And he really did.
- 2:13And they did. So cool.
- 2:17Yeah, So you don't want to miss our next episode.
- 2:20It's coming out later in December.
- 2:22It's going to be our interview, our second interview with James.
- 2:25We've already done one, which was so epic and so much fun.
- 2:30I'm that's why I'm really excited.
- 2:33Don't don't forget though, he came to our Patreon hang out yes
- 2:38with all of our patrons. He just decided to come on like
- 2:41out of the kindness of his heart.
- 2:42He hung out with us for an hour or so and it like he's an
- 2:46amazing human being and super kind and and really, really a
- 2:51true friend, friend of the show. So.
- 2:54He really is. When Obi Wan says he wants to
- 2:56come on the show, you find time. You say yes, yes.
- 3:02Yes, even though I was almost dead with illness when we were
- 3:07trying to schedule, we found the time and it is going to be a
- 3:11good time. I cannot wait.
- 3:13Well, and we'll do an actual video interview for our Patreon
- 3:17members. I think we do that for Jedi
- 3:20Knights and Jedi Masters. They get access.
- 3:22I'll have to double check that. But yeah, we have.
- 3:25If you want to watch or listen to the previous interview we did
- 3:29with him, it was maybe 2 years ago I want to say and.
- 3:32Yeah. Oh, it's crazy how long ago it
- 3:33was. It doesn't feel that long
- 3:35because it's like he stays in touch with us so frequently.
- 3:39And I know he's awesome. It's really cool.
- 3:41It. Was funny 'cause I was
- 3:43renovating my bathroom, remember, and I had to ask to
- 3:47ask the demo crew to come the next day.
- 3:49I'm like, I'm sorry, I have an interview and it's really
- 3:51important and you cannot be in my bathroom breaking the walls
- 3:57down. Nobody needs a bathroom
- 4:00renovation when Obi Wan calls. OK, like that is such an Anakin
- 4:07thing anyway, so. It really is.
- 4:10Oh my goodness, I'm already laughing so hard I'm like
- 4:14crying. Anyway, I know he's not even
- 4:16here yet. I know.
- 4:19So join us next time for that, it's going to be freaking
- 4:22awesome. Join our Patreon if you want
- 4:24more access. Last time he recorded special
- 4:27little tour of his office for us, showed us some Knick knacks.
- 4:30He recorded like a a commercial for us.
- 4:33He sent us interviews or interviews autographs.
- 4:37My brain stopped working. He sent us autographs to send to
- 4:40our Patreon members. Like it was awesome.
- 4:42So if you want some exclusive stuff, join our Patreon because
- 4:47that's where it's all going to be.
- 4:49I can't. I can't wait.
- 4:50I know next episode's going to be epic.
- 4:52It's going to be great. Just as epic as the last time he
- 4:54was here. So get ready folks, he's coming
- 4:57back. 1 is a lovely tie in. We're actually talking about one
- 5:02of his Clone Wars episodes today.
- 5:05We are, because it's been a minute since we talked about a
- 5:09Clone Wars episode, and we like to return to our favorite
- 5:12episodes and our favorite moments.
- 5:14And that's what we're doing today.
- 5:16And it's kind of a great segue into next episode with James
- 5:20Arnold Taylor. It is.
- 5:21We're talking about Bounty Hunters from season 2, which is
- 5:24kind of a stand alone episode, is super quirky and really fun.
- 5:29We have always loved this one. You and I used to watch it
- 5:32together on Netflix Party all the time.
- 5:34Yeah, the the original watch party.
- 5:37Yeah, between you and I. Where we could pause and rewind
- 5:43as many times as we wanted. And we did and we did.
- 5:47And this was one of those because he Obi Wan, I feel each
- 5:52character of the trio, right, of Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi Wan, all
- 5:56are highlighted here for completely different reasons,
- 5:59Yes. But I think, I really think that
- 6:02Obi Wan is kind of the rock throughout all of this.
- 6:05Yes, which is how he's in mortise.
- 6:07Also. He's like the center of of
- 6:10rational thought. Yes.
- 6:14And honestly, it's kind of a lovely tiered system.
- 6:18He's the older and wiser, followed by Anakin that he's
- 6:21just trying to wrangle, followed by Ahsoka, who Anakin's trying
- 6:24to wrangle while Obi Wan is trying to wrangle Anakin.
- 6:27And it's like this. But then actually at the
- 6:30beginning of this episode, Ahsoka seems to be the most
- 6:32mature one. Yeah, I know.
- 6:35I like that they start bickering and snarking right from the
- 6:39first moment. But yeah, the beginning where
- 6:42they crash land is just a hot mess and I love it.
- 6:44That's why I'm here for for all things Clone Wars.
- 6:46Yes, they start literally sassing each other while they're
- 6:52crashing, which is just like what?
- 6:56The little pods that they fall into, that they why haven't we
- 7:02create? Have we talked about this
- 7:03before? Why those haven't been created
- 7:05yet? I think you and I have because
- 7:08we love the little bouncy like the the sounds that it makes and
- 7:12everything, yeah. It just really makes sense.
- 7:15Maybe not from an engineering standpoint.
- 7:18Maybe that's why we don't have them in, you know, IRL in real
- 7:22life. But I just love that it's just
- 7:24kind of like an effortless little yeah, it's I don't.
- 7:28What's it called? Like a parachute sack.
- 7:30Yeah, it's like instead of a parachute, it's just a like a an
- 7:34absorbency bouncy ball, which I'm pretty sure if you fired
- 7:39yourself out of an F16 that would not work.
- 7:43No it wouldn't. It probably would not work at
- 7:46all, but seems to work fine in the Galaxy.
- 7:50I was watching a documentary about the Thunderbirds, which is
- 7:53kind of like, if you know, the Blue Angels, they're the Navy
- 7:56Thunderbirds, I think are for Air Force.
- 7:58And there was a moment in this documentary where one of the
- 8:01guys had ejected at least once and I think maybe twice, but at
- 8:07least one time. And he was saying it's not
- 8:10something you just walk away from.
- 8:13Even if it goes well, which we never hear this, you know, and
- 8:18in shows like this, they eject, boom, boom, boom right back into
- 8:21the show. It's crazy.
- 8:23And they they say the experience 14 to 18 GS on their body when
- 8:31they eject and that is enough compression on your spine that a
- 8:36lot of them lose up to a full inch of height for the rest of
- 8:41their lives. No way.
- 8:43Yeah, it's nuts. They're slightly short.
- 8:49And I've heard also that, you know, if you have an ejection in
- 8:52your history, sometimes they ground you, possibly because of
- 8:56medical reasons, possibly because of financial reasons
- 9:00'cause it's kind of expensive to crash those planes.
- 9:02But yeah. True, like this guy had to get
- 9:05massages all the time 'cause his muscles were so compacted from
- 9:09ejecting that he couldn't, like, move.
- 9:12It it makes sense, right? It makes sense.
- 9:15It's crazy, but oh we want an Anakin.
- 9:19Never lost their job and were never grounded so.
- 9:21And their hair looks fabulous as always.
- 9:24Fantastic. No matter.
- 9:26Never I heard. Geez, they're pulling.
- 9:28They look great. It never pulls their face all
- 9:33funny. No, never.
- 9:38I mean, Obi Wan's in a perpetual state of like sass.
- 9:42Yes, yeah. So, so it tightens his sass up a
- 9:45little bit, but I mean, other than that, it's just another day
- 9:48for these. Two, it's true.
- 9:50It's true. Anyway, sorry to sidetrack us
- 9:52into reality. You know I.
- 9:54I find that completely fascinating.
- 9:56I do want to say how much I love Felicia.
- 9:59I think I've said it 1000 times before.
- 10:01It's one of my favorite planets. Everything is beautiful.
- 10:05And also frightening, though, yeah, because there's a lot that
- 10:08can kill you on Falusia. You don't don't think I would
- 10:11want to live there, but I like seeing it in the someone has
- 10:15said like they need to do a David Attenborough kind of like
- 10:19animal show. And I think they need to do a
- 10:21travel show for Star Wars where the here is Falusia and show us
- 10:25all the little things about the planets.
- 10:27I would love that with like fake drone footage.
- 10:31Yes, over the landscape. That would be amazing.
- 10:35Felicia should be at the on the top of that list.
- 10:37And then they could hire James to narrate them like a travel
- 10:40documentary with his like very soothing voice that he tells.
- 10:44It would be so perfect in Canon. Like, keep it like it's in the
- 10:48Star Wars universe. I'm 100% here for all of this.
- 10:53This is a great idea, Disney. Hello anyway.
- 11:02I love the like the aesthetic of everything.
- 11:05I would everything. I think it's so first of all,
- 11:08it's beautiful 'cause it's colorful and then it's warm and
- 11:12it seems very inviting and then the little village is so cute.
- 11:18And their voices do. I can't remember, I didn't look.
- 11:22But who voices the little the leader of the Turtle people?
- 11:27Oh, I did look, actually, because I was really surprised.
- 11:30The one who's afraid all the time.
- 11:32Yes, Steven Stanton. Who did?
- 11:35Tarkin. Oh my.
- 11:36God. There's.
- 11:40Enough buddy. Oh my God, voice actors and
- 11:45actresses are amazing. Yeah.
- 11:47And then the main. Guy so cute.
- 11:49The main guy is Greg Baldwin. The no, the the one that's the
- 11:53one that's afraid is cute. Yeah.
- 11:55The the main guy, Cassis, I think, is his name.
- 11:59He is voiced by Greg Baldwin, who if you've ever watched
- 12:04Airbender, Uncle Iro or Iro, however you say it, the main
- 12:08actor who played him died while they were making the show and
- 12:11they replaced him with Greg Baldwin for the last season.
- 12:14I see. So he's actually a pretty well
- 12:17known voice actor as well. And they just are so good.
- 12:20They're the little voices, the little characters are really
- 12:23precious. I love them all.
- 12:26They are. And then when they come out and
- 12:28they're badass at the end and they just spear people through
- 12:30the chest and just kill, it's like, oh, I didn't know it.
- 12:35And they're all like cheering. Like, yeah, it's.
- 12:38Like you just killed somebody. You just speared a guy.
- 12:43Do we really want this to happen?
- 12:45This, this episode is classic Star Wars.
- 12:48We have a community that's kind of green, that doesn't know
- 12:52anything, very peaceful, doesn't want to be bothered with the
- 12:56outside world, has some outside Force bad guy come in and the
- 12:59Jedi have to teach them how to defend themselves.
- 13:02It's like word for word. We've seen it in so many types
- 13:07of media of Star Wars, OK, like classic.
- 13:11But the fact that it's a group of bounty hunters and those
- 13:18three Jedi, it's just a mess. I.
- 13:22Know it's great and you know how it's dedicated to Kurosawa at
- 13:27the beginning. Yeah.
- 13:29I was like Kurosawa died a long time ago, like he died in 1998.
- 13:32So I've always wondered why it's dedicated to him and it's
- 13:35because this story is 7 Samurai. Oh and now it all makes sense.
- 13:44Which is also why when you say it's classic Star Wars, also
- 13:49makes sense because original Star Wars is based on Oh my
- 13:54gosh, which one was it now Hidden fortress something
- 13:58fortress? Oh my gosh I can't believe I've
- 14:00forgotten it. I'm ashamed.
- 14:01But either way. Like you've said it 1000 times
- 14:05in other episodes though, so yeah, I.
- 14:07Don't remember now of course my brain is failing me now.
- 14:09But so yeah, like it is classic Star Wars cause Star Wars is
- 14:13based on Kurosawa and it's so cool because I, I didn't, I did
- 14:20not take Japanese film when I was at school.
- 14:23So I don't have a lot to compare it to or dive into, but I do, I
- 14:28did look up some stuff about it and it's also the Magnificent 7,
- 14:33you know, the cowboy movie, which is also based on Kurosawa.
- 14:36'S movie well. Yes, to put in like, yes,
- 14:39American context, but the thing that really struck me, I was
- 14:44listening to this YouTube, The House of Tabbula or something
- 14:48like that, and he made this really brilliant point that
- 14:52Kurosawa focuses on less on the action and more on the
- 14:56consequences of the action. Yeah.
- 15:00And I feel like this episode is is a lot of action based, but
- 15:03it's still like you see people die in this and you don't see
- 15:08that very often. In Clone Wars it's droids, but
- 15:11you don't see living beings die that often, and not from both.
- 15:15Sides too. Yeah, deaths on both sides.
- 15:18Exactly. And he said something I thought
- 15:20was really brilliant. He says that the majority of
- 15:22modern action films almost fetishize the way they shoot the
- 15:26protagonist. And he was showing Marvel movies
- 15:29and it's true. They focus on the protagonist in
- 15:33the center and they're fighting people.
- 15:36But you never see the bad guys. Kira Sawa movies slow down the
- 15:40death of the bad guy and you have to watch it because it puts
- 15:45interesting, it puts the hero's actions into context that even
- 15:49though they're heroes, there is a consequence.
- 15:52And totally, I feel like that is fairly present in this episode.
- 15:56I think it's kind of cool. I mean, it's a kids show, so
- 15:59they don't they don't go and do it that much.
- 16:02But we do see like Embo break somebody's neck.
- 16:06Oh, yes, from the back, Yeah, but still.
- 16:09And they. And then, yeah, there's the
- 16:12spear through the chest from the turtle person.
- 16:16Somebody gets thrown into the electrified fence.
- 16:20Yeah, and you like see it all? Yeah, and then there's the one
- 16:26female, I believe it's female from Bounty Hunter.
- 16:29She gets, she's the one that gets killed.
- 16:32And Sateen's voice. What's her name?
- 16:36Oh God. Suki is the character about Anna
- 16:38Graves. Yeah.
- 16:40So Suki, because Anna Graves does the voice of Suki.
- 16:44So Suki is the one that like reacts to this other bouncy
- 16:49Hunter's death like Jarred by it because they obviously had some
- 16:52sort of relationship or close, close relationship and not good.
- 16:57Yeah. So yeah, they do show it in in a
- 17:00as much of an animated quote kid show capacity.
- 17:06Right for in a 20 minute you know yeah.
- 17:09So yeah, yeah. But I, I think it's cool that
- 17:13they, it's really a, a very blatant homage.
- 17:18There's even like cinematography that's similar where they show
- 17:20everyone with the Spears, you know, training.
- 17:24And it's cool. It's it's really cool.
- 17:26And it makes me want to go watch Kyra Sawa films because it will
- 17:31put context, you know, it'll put Star Wars in more context for
- 17:36me. I just don't like old movies,
- 17:41which is such blasphemy from a film student, but I really just
- 17:45don't. You have to honor them for what
- 17:48they provide and give. Yes.
- 17:50And then just keep a pushing. You don't have to linger, Just
- 17:53keep a pushing, that's all. Yeah.
- 17:56I it's since you mentioned it, I do love that Anna Graves voices
- 18:01Sookie 'cause there's some flirting going on with her and
- 18:03Obi Wan. We've said it before, there's a
- 18:07little back and forth there. Yeah.
- 18:09And if you know, you know. And they know.
- 18:12And we know, so everybody knows. You know what?
- 18:16I. Mean do they know?
- 18:19We know, they know, we know. I don't know but we know now so
- 18:24you can kind of hear the little bit of now listen, Obi Wan is
- 18:30not one to flirt often but he will flirt in a situation Asaj
- 18:35Ventress. Yes.
- 18:38And now we have Sookie, Sookie, Sookie.
- 18:43I want to say Sookie, but that's from that vampire movie or
- 18:47series. Remember the?
- 18:48Terrible True Blood. True Blood.
- 18:52Terrible, horrible. Her name was Sookie, but not
- 18:55Sookie. So I'm trying not to.
- 18:58Nobody cares, but there's some flirting there.
- 19:01There's some flirting there. And wouldn't you?
- 19:03The way that that bluish Gray light when they're all having
- 19:06like their little meeting at the table.
- 19:08Good God. Holy hell, why are they so
- 19:12beautiful? They're not even real.
- 19:15They're not real, but they are. They're they are.
- 19:19They're so handsome. They really are.
- 19:22Both Anakin and and Obi Wan they look good.
- 19:24Yes, yeah, yes. And every single scene.
- 19:28That's why this is one of the ones that's super fun to watch.
- 19:32It reminded me all over again how fucking ridiculous the
- 19:35Anakin and Hondo like Showdown was with the whole, with the,
- 19:41with the with the lizard. Yeah.
- 19:44Voiced by Matlancer, I just. Yes.
- 19:47Some meta it's. Lanter against lanter.
- 19:52She's like. So great because the things like
- 19:55biting his ankle, like a little ankle biter, he won't get off of
- 20:00him and he's like, get off of me.
- 20:01Get damn it. I give that lizard, the Quackian
- 20:04Monkey lizard, full credit because if you can get to Anakin
- 20:09Skywalker plus two points, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:12I loved it when he kicks it and it goes like flies through the
- 20:16air. When you know it's mad, it makes
- 20:19it even funnier. It's like, how did Dave say to
- 20:23him, OK, Matt, I'm going to need you to be a lizard flying
- 20:27through the air, Like, how do you do that?
- 20:30But. He did it perfectly.
- 20:32Just like that. Like that he.
- 20:33Did. And I like Hondo, who was kind
- 20:39of sparring with Anakin, but not really until Anakin kicked that
- 20:44thing and then he got mad. He got mad because he kicked or
- 20:48threw or punched or waved away his little lizard.
- 20:51And he's like, not my lizard. And then he went for him like
- 20:55harder than before. I kind of felt that.
- 20:58I I feel that Hondo, I would defend the lizard.
- 21:00Yeah, I feel like Hondo in this episode is meaner than usual.
- 21:06He's. You Well, he's got some, he's
- 21:09got some money invested in those crops.
- 21:12Yeah, he must owe someone a debt or something 'cause it's so
- 21:16ruthless and I know had nose a pirate and everything, but they
- 21:19often will imply that there's like a twinkle in the eye.
- 21:22And if you offer him enough money, he'll, you know, sure,
- 21:25I'll look the other way. Not here.
- 21:27He's like threatening these little sweet people and.
- 21:31I know. It's really sad.
- 21:32I know you know what I love about these little turtle
- 21:36people? What?
- 21:38Is that they have like a driveway.
- 21:41Did you notice that they have like a lit driveway of?
- 21:46Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:47Yeah, like, like, you know, if you're driving up to like a
- 21:51stable or like a big farm, like a like a prize winning farm and
- 21:56they have that thing at the entryway, it's like a.
- 21:59It says like the name of the ranch or something like that.
- 22:02Yeah, and it's like 2 pieces of wood with a piece over the top,
- 22:05but it has like the name of the ranch on it.
- 22:07So yeah, the turtle people have like 3 or 4 of them.
- 22:10And they had lights on them 'cause I paused it and I'm like,
- 22:13do they have a fucking driveway? They do.
- 22:17And it was like a little entryway and it was kind of
- 22:21cute. I thought it was cute.
- 22:22I'm like, they, they actually have a cute little community.
- 22:25I would live there if they would let me.
- 22:26I want to. I love their little pod houses.
- 22:30Yes. As long as you can frost the
- 22:32glass for privacy, I would totally.
- 22:35Oh sure, live in one of those. Listen to.
- 22:38US. Well, sometimes you don't want
- 22:40the whole neighborhood seeing everything you're doing.
- 22:42And no. Especially if Obi Wan could
- 22:44always come over. We're going to have to frost
- 22:49those, Sookie. And you were frosting that glass
- 22:51up really as soon as. Possible.
- 22:53Yep, yes, exactly. But you're right.
- 22:58I like their little, I like their little pods.
- 23:00You know, I I always compare this episode to like the lemur
- 23:04community. Yes, that episode was that
- 23:08season 1? I think so.
- 23:10The one when Anakin gets injured.
- 23:12Yes, but they also help fortify that.
- 23:14The Lerman that. Community.
- 23:16The Lerman? Yes.
- 23:17What did I call them? Lemurs.
- 23:19Well, they're like lemurs are. Real.
- 23:21Yeah. I think they're kind of based on
- 23:23lemurs, yeah. But they're like the the their
- 23:25character names are Lerman. I love that episode.
- 23:27Yeah, I do too. But this is very similar in the
- 23:32way that like they're defending their own community against a
- 23:35bad guy, etcetera. Yeah.
- 23:37And I just think it's so great. Where they seem to have won,
- 23:43right? Like the the turtle people have
- 23:44seemed seemed to have driven them off or killed enough of the
- 23:48the pirates, right. But there's a moment where the
- 23:52the the turtle guy that's like afraid stabs someone and he's
- 23:56like, yeah, we did it or something.
- 23:58And Obi Wan just kind of looks at him like he knows there's
- 24:02more to it than that. Are you all right?
- 24:05Yeah, there's like you want to let them have their their
- 24:12rejoicing moment, but at the same time, like Obi Wan knows
- 24:15it's not over until Hondo leaves.
- 24:17Like, right, 'cause Hondo's really the reason why they're
- 24:20even fighting this fight. Yeah, can we talk about how Obi
- 24:25Wan uses the Force to smash that bike into the fence?
- 24:30Where, where he lifts it up, Yes, over.
- 24:33And then boom, right. It's so hot.
- 24:35It really is ridiculously hot. I really need to see you and do
- 24:40that. Can't we like?
- 24:41Just. It's like we've always said,
- 24:44when they use the force somehow, for some reason, it's really
- 24:48yes. Yes, it's just so good.
- 24:52It's so good. It's real easy for him too.
- 24:56Yeah, he just outsmarts it. Doesn't even need a lightsaber
- 25:00or anything. He's like, I'll just take care
- 25:01of this, no problem. And then Sookie shoots them
- 25:04right in front of him and he's like, well.
- 25:06Right. Guess that's what's the cost of
- 25:10war. I mean he did electrocute them
- 25:18first so like. Well, you know, I mean, what's
- 25:26his name? Himbo.
- 25:27Jimbo. Himbo.
- 25:30Himbo. Himbo.
- 25:34He's a Himbo. Oh.
- 25:36My God. Well, Ambo is Dave Filoni, even
- 25:41though it's kind of like. Yes, it's like.
- 25:44Wow, wow. Yeah, it's just.
- 25:45Like how he does Chopper? Exactly.
- 25:48But I do appreciate that it's Dave Filoni.
- 25:51Kind of reminds me. It's like his hat is like
- 25:53Captain America shield essentially.
- 25:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like impenetrable.
- 26:00I wonder if it's Bescar. Yeah.
- 26:05Oh, it could. Oh, you know what it might be.
- 26:07Where'd he get it though? Did he steal it?
- 26:08That's a good question. Kill for it.
- 26:10Probably. Probably.
- 26:11Probably. I'm sorry, you were going to say
- 26:14something before I talked about himbo.
- 26:16No, I was going to say something about that.
- 26:18I just think because it's Dave Filoni, it's kind of cool that
- 26:20his creatures like a wolf, which is so Filoni, you know?
- 26:24Oh, he loves the wolves. Yes, very true.
- 26:27Yeah, and we can't forget the little guy in the big suit.
- 26:31Yeah. Which I can't remember his name.
- 26:34Oh my gosh. I love him so much.
- 26:39Who does the voice? It's not even listed as one of
- 26:42the characters. It isn't.
- 26:45He speaks, though. No, he does.
- 26:47It must be one of the main actors Who does it, then.
- 26:50I don't know, but he's adorable. He reminds me of Bob Hope.
- 26:55No. No.
- 26:56Oh, I'm sorry. Not Bob Hope.
- 26:58Not Bob Hope. Bob Newhart.
- 26:59Bob Newhart. Both.
- 27:05Like either one makes no sense, but he to me, like, he even kind
- 27:10of like if you were to turn Bob Newhart into an alien, I think
- 27:13he would be like that. And he's so.
- 27:16I. Mild mannered and quiet.
- 27:20I think I was thinking Newhart when you said that, though.
- 27:24Because. Soon as you said it, the same
- 27:27picture popped in my head, so it's the same person I was
- 27:29thinking of. This that was space twin.
- 27:36Oh man, cuz Bob Newhart's from Chicago.
- 27:38So my brain would always think of him over Bob Hope for some
- 27:43reason. So yeah, I I just said the wrong
- 27:46thing. Doesn't the character kind of
- 27:50strike you as like he used to be like a door to door salesman and
- 27:53now he works for these bounty hunters?
- 27:55Yeah, yeah. I mean, he must have sold them
- 27:59some sort of promise vacuum. Cleaners.
- 28:04He probably sold him the best card that they made Himbo's hat
- 28:08out of so. I like that we're calling him
- 28:12Himbo from now on. Oh my.
- 28:15Goodness, is it M Bo. M Bo Yeah.
- 28:18OK, all right. I'll try and say M Bo.
- 28:21I knew it was M something Bo anyway.
- 28:25Bob Newhart and Himbo. I love this episode so much.
- 28:33Now I'm going to love it even more.
- 28:37Something else I noticed about Obi Wan too, when he was talking
- 28:40and they're sitting at the table and he gestures with two fingers
- 28:45and I've noticed this with him before because it's rude if you
- 28:49gesture with one and Anakin immediately like points at
- 28:52somebody with one finger right after Obi Wan uses 2.
- 28:55I just think it's such an interesting subtext.
- 28:58Now how in the hell did you notice that?
- 29:01I don't know, I just always noticed it because they very
- 29:05deliberately draw him gesturing with two fingers because it's
- 29:08more polite and I've seen it in other episodes before.
- 29:13That is so brilliant, I never ever thought of that.
- 29:17He's like too elegant and well mannered to point at someone.
- 29:22Obi Wan is cultured, Anakin is a heathen.
- 29:29I mean Anakin's standing the whole time.
- 29:31Which like, granted there may not be enough chairs but we know
- 29:36it's because he's impatient right?
- 29:38And he's like a fidgety person. I feel like Anakin would have a
- 29:42fidget spitter if he if he could get his hands.
- 29:44On one, yeah, definitely. You know, and that's not a knock
- 29:47on him, it's just his personality type.
- 29:49So I feel like like my dad has to stand whenever we're having
- 29:54like a family meeting and stuff because he's he's antsy, He's
- 29:57got that pent up energy. And some people are like that.
- 29:59But but not Anakin. But Obi Wan is the cultured,
- 30:03patient, polite half of this duo and poor Ahsoka.
- 30:09She's just trying to figure out what what's right and what's
- 30:12what's. Wrong.
- 30:12I know she's going with her. How?
- 30:14To grow up, that's the thing. She's so young.
- 30:16It's such an interesting argument too because she's not
- 30:19wrong but neither is Obi Wan when Obi Wan says that better
- 30:23they get robbed by pirates than attract attention of General
- 30:26Grievous. Like yes that's also true.
- 30:29It's the lesser of two evils which some people don't like
- 30:32being forced to choose between. But some people, like Obi Wan,
- 30:37realize sometimes you have to make that kind of choice.
- 30:41It's true. It's true.
- 30:43It it's a hard decision. And and I think that's what was
- 30:46the title card of this one. Do we remember?
- 30:48Yeah, I wrote. It down it's courage makes
- 30:50heroes, but trust builds friendship.
- 30:55Sometimes I feel like these stories final cards don't I'm
- 30:58I'm like where? Who's making the friendship?
- 31:03Obi Wan with the bounty hunters? Like what?
- 31:05That's the that's the open-ended question.
- 31:07Is it the bounty hunters and the Jedi or the Jedi with the turtle
- 31:12people or the turtle people with themselves?
- 31:15Do they trust in themselves now? Because they had no courage
- 31:17before, but now, yeah. You know, there's a lot.
- 31:21There's a lot going on there. Yeah.
- 31:23I mean as soon as Hondo shows up, he got Kenobi, you know he
- 31:27does the old like so great my old friend.
- 31:30Here we are again. You know, every time Jim
- 31:33Cummings time his he is. He's fabulous, One of the best
- 31:37examples of why AI Voiceover can fuck off because it's missing
- 31:42everything that someone like Jim brings where it's so detailed
- 31:47and so layered and it's so good that they it turns A1 off
- 31:51character into a recurring theme in multiple shows.
- 31:55Not just like multiple episodes, multiple shows he shows.
- 31:59Up a degree more and he's. At the parks now, isn't he?
- 32:02At the Star Wars park, he's there as a character.
- 32:05Rondo is like the he introduces you to the Smugglers Run.
- 32:09Yeah, he's part. He's the reason Smugglers Run
- 32:12exists, technically. Yeah, so it's because of Jim
- 32:16Comedy's performance, because he's so fucking good.
- 32:19Oh my God, I loved his last line too.
- 32:23When he shouts that this effort is no longer profitable.
- 32:28This effort is no longer profitable and I've always loved
- 32:37how it's Hondo and his Brig Brig and of of fools right that have
- 32:44the actual alien spaceship. I know in.
- 32:47This Galaxy far away yes, they're the only ones that have
- 32:51the stereotypical alien spaceship of.
- 32:54Flying saucer. Like.
- 32:56Straight up. I know it, I love it.
- 33:01I do too. Someone had to have it at some
- 33:04point. You're in this fucking Galaxy of
- 33:08made-up shit with made-up species and made-up planets.
- 33:12Everyone there is an alien to each other, right?
- 33:14Yeah. And and someone's got to have
- 33:17the UFO, Yeah, you know. And I'm glad it's Hondo.
- 33:21Me too, he deserves it. We love this episode.
- 33:25This episode is is just. It literally has everything.
- 33:31It does. It does.
- 33:33It's action. It's humor.
- 33:35It's beauty. Yeah.
- 33:37There's deeper meaning in there somewhere.
- 33:39We just have skipped over it. No, I, I once again, a poor
- 33:46little colony on some planet has something that's more valuable
- 33:50to somebody else and they, they're going to get it stolen.
- 33:53And it's sad. And they defended, you know, I
- 33:58hate when the big bad guy comes in and takes from the little
- 34:00guy. Yeah, it's still early enough in
- 34:03Clone Wars where you can use an episode like this and and feel a
- 34:09little bit of hope, because the later into Clone Wars you get,
- 34:14the less this kind of success happens.
- 34:17Right. Because, I mean, the Empire is
- 34:19going to come eventually, we know, right?
- 34:22And decimate, yeah, entire, I mean, think about Andor.
- 34:27I know. Gore, the gore.
- 34:29I know. When I think about Andor next to
- 34:31this episode is like, I don't want to know what happens to
- 34:34these little sweethearts. Like I'm just going to pretend
- 34:37that they live in a bubble and everything is fine.
- 34:40Yes, I hope after these three Jedi and those damn bounty
- 34:45hunters leave them, they live in peace forever and ever and
- 34:49that's it. And nobody touches them.
- 34:51Exactly the end. I hope we never get a part too.
- 34:57I know, and I hope they just all live happily ever after.
- 35:00Can somebody in the Galaxy live happily ever after?
- 35:04If if anyone? It deserves to be the turtle
- 35:06people all. They're doing is growing,
- 35:08healing herbs. They're just nice.
- 35:10They're nice. Folks, yeah, they are a simple
- 35:14life. Just keep Obi Wan, Anakin and
- 35:20Ahsoka away from them 'cause no good comes from whenever those 3
- 35:27land on your planet. Well, in case you needed
- 35:34reminding what our next episode is, here's your reminder.
- 35:38It's James Arnold Taylor, and he's coming back to the show.
- 35:43We don't know how long he'll talk, but we'll take him for as
- 35:46long as he wants to talk to us. So it could be a very long
- 35:49episode, we just don't know where.
- 35:52He's gracious enough to come back on the show and want to be
- 35:55on the show again. So we're just going to have a
