- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five whist Talking. Leave
- 0:10Speaker 1: all this and Mike, it's so quick though, we have
- 0:12Speaker 1: to hell sparks. I forgot. It's like football out. Okay,
- 0:16Speaker 1: hello everybody, podcast I started, but go ahead and Mike
- 0:18Speaker 1: do it again. This is a podcast called twenty five
- 0:25Speaker 1: wrist Stocking, hold on that sucked? Should we pull it?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Should we pull it down and do a note like
- 0:35Speaker 1: we're talking, then pull it all the way down? We
- 0:36Speaker 1: go sports, so least you can hear us. Let's try
- 0:39Speaker 1: that way, Mike, go ahead. The pod Jass called twenty
- 0:47Speaker 1: fives stockings and hold on and commens on Zoom. That
- 0:52Speaker 1: was delayed, so the whole thing. Okay, yeah, it's the
- 0:56Speaker 1: whole thing to like, Mike, just go with basketball. And
- 0:58Speaker 1: this one, well it's we figure it out. It was
- 1:01Speaker 1: like we all went sports that was already weird and
- 1:03Speaker 1: then you come go, sorry, okay, do basketball. This is
- 1:11Speaker 1: a podcast called Sucking Basketball and they all went a
- 1:16Speaker 1: whist so yes, it's too bad, but what did you expect.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's a podcast called Whistles. All right, welcome to episode
- 1:27Speaker 1: forty four Whistles. Let me go and blow us in here. Hello, everybody,
- 1:33Speaker 1: let's do the warm up round the room real quick.
- 1:35Speaker 1: What's your lock screen on your phone? That's a good
- 1:37Speaker 1: way and calm as part of the show, so we
- 1:39Speaker 1: get to know him as well. But Eddie, your first,
- 1:40Speaker 1: what's your lock screen on your phone? Like the picture
- 1:42Speaker 1: that's up there, I mean it's yeah, when you lock screen,
- 1:44Speaker 1: it just comes with it. It's like whatever do you
- 1:46Speaker 1: put anything on? No? No, no, it's like, um, look,
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's just read bubbles or something. That's why have you
- 1:51Speaker 1: done nothing? You did? You could put like you a pebble,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you could put your white No, I mean I don't.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I don't want that on my phone. Nothing. No, it's
- 1:57Speaker 1: just my phone. Like this isn't like you know my well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: it's my phone. It's just it's just what I look
- 2:02Speaker 1: at all day. But that's it. No, you guys have
- 2:04Speaker 1: things on him. Well that's all we're doing the segment here.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That's crazy. No, mine just came with the phone, Kevin.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Mine is Kirka National Park in Croatia when I went
- 2:11Speaker 1: and visited years ago, about four or five years ago.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And it's an awesome picture and it reminds him probably
- 2:16Speaker 1: have a cool time in his life exactly. But don't
- 2:18Speaker 1: you have a girlfriend. Yeah you do or don't anymore? Yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I know, I do, I do. Yeah you ain't there yet, No, no,
- 2:25Speaker 1: we're still background is still Croatia. Okay, Mike wedding photo
- 2:32Speaker 1: of leaping the waiting wedding. Okay, what about you, Coleman.
- 2:35Speaker 1: What's the background on your phone? Your lock screen, Eddie.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Mine would have been the exact same as yours. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: just would have kept it, you know what Apple gave me.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But my wife was like, what your lock screen isn't me?
- 2:45Speaker 1: So had to switch it to her. Wow, you guys
- 2:49Speaker 1: have all of your minds my wife important things. It's
- 2:51Speaker 1: just my wife. It's not even me. I don't want
- 2:53Speaker 1: me in it because I don't look at me. I
- 2:55Speaker 1: hate me, so I don't want to see So it's
- 2:56Speaker 1: just her. I did see a picture because I guess
- 3:00Speaker 1: maybe it's Valentine's Day came when you posted a picture
- 3:02Speaker 1: she's she's way prettier than you are, very much though
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's not even close. And I was thinking when I
- 3:07Speaker 1: was looking at a picture of I was like, yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 1: he had to score twenty nine at night because this
- 3:09Speaker 1: post was I met her. I just drawed twenty nine
- 3:13Speaker 1: and then met her after the game or something like that,
- 3:17Speaker 1: was like, yeah, you gotta put up in your thirty
- 3:18Speaker 1: to get somebody way hotter than you. Absolutely, how that
- 3:22Speaker 1: impressed somehow? How do you meet her? Um? So, Actually
- 3:26Speaker 1: it was the night before we had played our rival
- 3:30Speaker 1: hill Dale Muscogeese. That's where she went. Oftentimes goes in
- 3:34Speaker 1: support Hilldale. One of my buddies actually dropped twenty four,
- 3:38Speaker 1: got the confidence to text one of her best friends,
- 3:41Speaker 1: and then we kind of went as the double date.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But then we obviously had the chemistry and kept it going.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So nine years later, here we are. So did you
- 3:50Speaker 1: score twenty nine the night after the date or the
- 3:52Speaker 1: night before? The night after the date? Which was arguably
- 3:56Speaker 1: more important because I had just backed my dad jeep
- 4:00Speaker 1: into my mom's car literally two hours before the game,
- 4:05Speaker 1: busted out the back windshield. If I don't drop twenty nine,
- 4:08Speaker 1: my dad's definitely pissed. There's no way I'm getting to gate.
- 4:11Speaker 1: No way. Is your dad? Is your daddy? Coach? No? No? No? Okay? Right?
- 4:16Speaker 1: And so was she watching that game? Did she come?
- 4:19Speaker 1: So you've just been on a date? Was she there? No,
- 4:22Speaker 1: she wasn't there. We didn't go on the date until
- 4:24Speaker 1: the next weekend. But like I said, if I don't
- 4:26Speaker 1: drop twenty nine dads like, no, you're not going out,
- 4:28Speaker 1: You're coming home. Got it? Okay, good, it's a good story. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I like it. Um, And you're wearing a Pebble Beach
- 4:33Speaker 1: hat Eddie and I just played there. Have you been
- 4:34Speaker 1: there before? Do you have that? Yes? That's actually where
- 4:37Speaker 1: I proposed to my wife. This is crazy? Yes, how okay,
- 4:42Speaker 1: what's what's the story there? Yeah? I knew I wanted
- 4:46Speaker 1: to do something special for our proposal. During you know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: COVID time in March of one, we went to Pebble
- 4:54Speaker 1: Beach and Loan Cyprus. It was perfect. It was Labor
- 4:59Speaker 1: Day weekend, I think, and so they weren't allowing tourists
- 5:02Speaker 1: in for whatever reason, and so it was just my
- 5:04Speaker 1: wife and I at the Loan Cypress, no one else
- 5:07Speaker 1: around for twenty minutes. Felt like God paused time for
- 5:10Speaker 1: a little bit. It was incredible. What's lone Cypress? That
- 5:13Speaker 1: was another course. It was so the tree, the tree,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you know, like on seventeen mile drive. It's just like
- 5:20Speaker 1: this lone cypress that sits out. Oh it's not just
- 5:24Speaker 1: a huge tree. That's the tree where we drop bones.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Remember when we are balls went in the water and
- 5:29Speaker 1: we had to drop by that tree. I don't know
- 5:31Speaker 1: if you're tell the truth or not. Yeah, yeah, the
- 5:33Speaker 1: last hole. It's that big tree that's in the middle
- 5:35Speaker 1: of the true because he also thought it was a
- 5:37Speaker 1: course until a second ago. Coleman. No, no, no, that's
- 5:40Speaker 1: a different tree. This is like just off the course
- 5:43Speaker 1: about a mile, so the tree is not even on
- 5:46Speaker 1: the So why I even mentioned this tree because that's
- 5:51Speaker 1: where he went. No, no, no, I know I know
- 5:52Speaker 1: why he's mentioned it. I'm just saying, why is it
- 5:54Speaker 1: called the Lone Tree? Like it's a random tree in
- 5:56Speaker 1: the middle of nowhere. That makes no sense. I don't
- 5:57Speaker 1: know why it's the logo. That's a good question. And
- 6:00Speaker 1: I guess just because it's nearby. I don't know. And
- 6:04Speaker 1: when you guys went out there, did you know you
- 6:05Speaker 1: were going to did you know you're gonna propose? She
- 6:09Speaker 1: had an idea. She didn't know when or where. But
- 6:12Speaker 1: we've been dating for a long time. Special trip, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 1: she had an idea. And how do you go, Hey,
- 6:18Speaker 1: we're gonna go. Do is that a place you guys
- 6:20Speaker 1: normally went or was it just heyo, No, this was
- 6:24Speaker 1: a one off, you know. I guess it is a
- 6:28Speaker 1: little selfish. I wouldn't play three rounds of golf and
- 6:31Speaker 1: then decided that it was the perfect time to pro
- 6:33Speaker 1: post that. Yeah, I just thought we'd make a great
- 6:36Speaker 1: trip out of it. Are you a good golfer? I
- 6:38Speaker 1: would say, I'm an okay golfer's I'm seeing that their
- 6:42Speaker 1: relationship revolves around his successes like his just his sports.
- 6:49Speaker 1: If she wasn't successful, I wouldn't be able to I
- 6:52Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to go out and do this venture
- 6:54Speaker 1: to begin with, so definitely rely on her. Where are
- 6:57Speaker 1: you today, by the way, I am just outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I had to get about as close as I could
- 7:04Speaker 1: so I could, you know, be nearby for the Ryan
- 7:06Speaker 1: Ritter interview. Had to get as close to Martin, Tennessee.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So tell me who are you interviewing today? Ryan Rittard,
- 7:12Speaker 1: the U T Martin head coach. I'm really excited about it.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Um my first time to get in front of a
- 7:17Speaker 1: coach one on one and be able to interview him.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So thank you all so much for setting that up.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't even to pay him I should have just
- 7:22Speaker 1: not paid him at all and just said here, we're
- 7:23Speaker 1: gonna pay you interviews. There we go, Okay, we're here, Mike.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Let's go with the tittle tattle tattle, all right, Kevin,
- 7:38Speaker 1: with the official release this week? Where do you think
- 7:40Speaker 1: the best landing spot is for quarterback Derek Carr. I'm
- 7:43Speaker 1: gonna tell you what I like about this Derek Carr
- 7:44Speaker 1: situation is from everything I know about Derek Carr, and
- 7:47Speaker 1: do you have a couple of friends that know Derek Carr.
- 7:48Speaker 1: He's a great dude. They love him. He's like a
- 7:51Speaker 1: plus nice guy, good guy. And the fact that he's
- 7:54Speaker 1: sticking it to the Raiders. It's hilarious because they were like, hey,
- 8:00Speaker 1: we're gonna trade you. How about Saints. We've got to
- 8:02Speaker 1: say here, I don't only tried anywhere, no trade claws.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be a free agent, which means they
- 8:06Speaker 1: they got nothing for him. So that tells me that
- 8:10Speaker 1: he's upset with probably the coaching set Listen, we had
- 8:14Speaker 1: heard a lot of rumors anyway that they weren't they
- 8:16Speaker 1: weren't vibing. McDaniels and Derek Carr were not kind of
- 8:19Speaker 1: on the same Page in a lot of ways, and
- 8:20Speaker 1: he didn't want to miss as a quarterback. And so
- 8:22Speaker 1: now that Cars got that opportunity, he's like, we're good.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Suck it not in so many words. I don't quote
- 8:31Speaker 1: him today, that's not what he said, but you know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I think the Saints will be great for him. I
- 8:37Speaker 1: think the Titans will be awesome for him. That'd be cool.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I mean, selfishly, I'd love for him to play where
- 8:42Speaker 1: we are for the Titans. I do think he's an
- 8:44Speaker 1: upgrade from Tannehill just because and Tannehill did some things
- 8:49Speaker 1: that no really other Titans quarterback has been able to do.
- 8:52Speaker 1: As far as how far the times have got in
- 8:54Speaker 1: the playoffs, I mean, what do McNary get him to
- 8:57Speaker 1: the the Rams? There? So so it's been forever since,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but with Tannehill there is a ceiling that he's not
- 9:06Speaker 1: going to throw consistently for two fifty. Carr had the
- 9:09Speaker 1: worst defense period over like the past five, six, seven years.
- 9:12Speaker 1: He didn't have to have a chance with the Raiders.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I do think it's top twenty quarterback, which is not
- 9:18Speaker 1: saying a lot considering there's not forty quarterbacks. But I
- 9:20Speaker 1: do think it's a top quarterback, and I think the
- 9:23Speaker 1: Saints will be great. I think the Titans will be great.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I think anywhere that he has a shot, with decent
- 9:27Speaker 1: weapons and a decent defense will finally get to see
- 9:31Speaker 1: if he's as good as I think he is. So
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Titans. I think that would be awesome.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That's very selfish. But the Saints also actually a place
- 9:39Speaker 1: I can see him land too. What about you, I well, selfishly,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I want to see him go to the Saints just
- 9:44Speaker 1: because he said you can't trade me there. But I'm
- 9:46Speaker 1: gonna be yeah. But I think the Commanders would also
- 9:50Speaker 1: be a good woman because they have a good defense.
- 9:51Speaker 1: They have McLaurin, a wide receiver, a couple of weapons
- 9:54Speaker 1: here and there, and if they can get a quarterback,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I feel like they can maybe take that next leap.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you this, eddingt to talk with the
- 10:00Speaker 1: coach of the Commanders, Ron Rivera, and we know what's
- 10:03Speaker 1: happening over there, and I'm gonna tell you it ain't
- 10:04Speaker 1: Derek Carr, and you can't say anything about it. We
- 10:06Speaker 1: probably we've we've had hey, we're very well connected. Coleman
- 10:10Speaker 1: in the way we saw him standing in the room
- 10:12Speaker 1: and we went and attacked him, and he was so
- 10:15Speaker 1: nice to us, and I just asked him. I was like, Hey,
- 10:17Speaker 1: what's up, what's that? What's happening a quarterback next year?
- 10:20Speaker 1: He just sort of landed out. I feel like I
- 10:22Speaker 1: shouldn't say anything because I don't feel like that's an advironer.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It was a pebble beach because he was playing in
- 10:26Speaker 1: the tournament, same one I was playing in, and I
- 10:28Speaker 1: feel like that's kind of sacred ground. We're just two
- 10:30Speaker 1: guys talking, but it ain't Derek Carr, but it would
- 10:35Speaker 1: be good. It maybe a good spot for him too.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I'll leave it there. Let's just say it rise with
- 10:38Speaker 1: Rom Brady. Al right. Next question, Kevin, do you think
- 10:42Speaker 1: Eric b Enemy needs to leave Kansas City to prove
- 10:44Speaker 1: himself head coaching worthy? Probably at this point. I mean,
- 10:49Speaker 1: he won a Super Bowl already, had been to the
- 10:50Speaker 1: champion of the a s C Championship. Andy Ready gets
- 10:53Speaker 1: so much credit, all the credit offensively. And I saw
- 10:58Speaker 1: that he was talking or a couple other teams wanted
- 10:59Speaker 1: to talked to him as d OC, not as the
- 11:01Speaker 1: head coach. So it's seeming that if somebody wanted him
- 11:04Speaker 1: as a head coach. They would have already hired him
- 11:06Speaker 1: as head coach, So I think he kind of needs
- 11:08Speaker 1: to go somewhere where he's gonna get some credit for it.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So my answer, the easy answer is yes for that
- 11:12Speaker 1: or he would already have been a head coach based
- 11:15Speaker 1: on the knowledge that I have in the situation. But
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's wild that it hasn't had that shot yet. There's
- 11:20Speaker 1: something we don't know. Absolutely. I feel like that to
- 11:25Speaker 1: just generally in life with all things, but especially here
- 11:28Speaker 1: the next one out. After losing bold coordinators this week,
- 11:31Speaker 1: do you think the Eagles run is a one and done. No,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I would compare it to it's tough because it's not
- 11:38Speaker 1: the same. But like, look Alabama daylies coordinators and they
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't win National champions coordinators every year that he replaced
- 11:44Speaker 1: some of the good coordinators. Like if Sirianni is the
- 11:46Speaker 1: coach that people think he is, then I think you'll
- 11:48Speaker 1: find other great coordinators. The best thing the head coach
- 11:50Speaker 1: can do is put coordinators into head coaches, because then
- 11:53Speaker 1: other other great coordinators want to come be the coordinator
- 11:56Speaker 1: to get the next shot up. At a head coach.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It's an annoying cycle. But good teams have to deal
- 12:01Speaker 1: with it in college in the NFL because if you
- 12:03Speaker 1: win a lot, why do you want a lot with
- 12:04Speaker 1: the head coach and Leavin your fits great, Let's take
- 12:06Speaker 1: your off as a coordinator and on and on. So No,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I don't. I think the defense is mostly back. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think they have. They're they're back. Most of those Eagles
- 12:16Speaker 1: guys are coming back. So I think they're gonna be
- 12:18Speaker 1: legit again. And I think Jalen Hurts has shown that
- 12:21Speaker 1: he's good regardless, Like keep balled out hard than anybody
- 12:23Speaker 1: else period. In the super Bowl, they just didn't win.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Like keep balled out. I mean he went hard, he
- 12:28Speaker 1: said records, he threw, he ran. He did it all
- 12:31Speaker 1: with a hurt shoulder too, and they didn't talk much
- 12:34Speaker 1: about hurt shoulder. I'd have faked it. I'd have faked
- 12:35Speaker 1: it worse out with him the same way out of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the same way I said about my homes would have
- 12:38Speaker 1: been like I'd have been limping the whole time, even
- 12:40Speaker 1: if it wasn't hurting. Just so what this story would
- 12:42Speaker 1: go down in history. So I think the Eagles are
- 12:44Speaker 1: for real. I think they'll be for real next year
- 12:45Speaker 1: to Okay, going to basketball for the first time. Do
- 12:48Speaker 1: you think the addition of k D makes his sons
- 12:50Speaker 1: a favorite out in the West. Yeah, and by far
- 12:52Speaker 1: for sure. I mean Katie Katie is I'll be selfish
- 12:57Speaker 1: about the comparison, Katie is Andy Roddick, where if Lebron
- 13:02Speaker 1: had didn't happen to be here right now, Katie would
- 13:05Speaker 1: be the best basketball player alive, and he would be
- 13:07Speaker 1: that for seven to ten years. And I'd say the
- 13:09Speaker 1: same thing about Andy and Federer because it was a
- 13:11Speaker 1: time before at all hit where Andy was just like
- 13:13Speaker 1: Feder's beating him in every in the final of whatever,
- 13:16Speaker 1: over and over, and I was like, thank or Tiger
- 13:18Speaker 1: and Phil. You know, Phil's number two forever behind Tiger,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and that's always the case. But Katie is so freaking good,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and we forget we talked about you can talk about
- 13:29Speaker 1: these seven footers that can also stretch you know, uh,
- 13:33Speaker 1: a stretch four, even a stretch five. Katie's the o
- 13:37Speaker 1: G of that. I mean, you go back and do
- 13:39Speaker 1: some mos of the Malone type stuff, but not really.
- 13:42Speaker 1: But Katie's like the he's seven foot and he shoots
- 13:45Speaker 1: like he's six too. But he's been doing it for
- 13:48Speaker 1: so long that he doesn't even get putting that conversation sometimes.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So yes, by far, I mean when I watched I
- 13:54Speaker 1: mean Chris pod nineteen assists the other night, like just straight,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like that team is REGI I mean, dare Devin Booker
- 14:01Speaker 1: scored like forty and had no threes. They're already really good.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Kevin Durant is gonna make them great. It's gonna be
- 14:10Speaker 1: really cool to see. I like Katie because he's a weirdo.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I like anybody that's weird and does their own stuff
- 14:15Speaker 1: because they want to do their own stuff, even if
- 14:16Speaker 1: I don't want to do with the thrown stuff, like
- 14:18Speaker 1: I like anybody who does that. Yeah, so they're there.
- 14:20Speaker 1: They were already there, and now they're they're there, and
- 14:23Speaker 1: if they don't win that would be wild. Then they're
- 14:25Speaker 1: just done. But Durant's gonna be there two more years, right,
- 14:28Speaker 1: isn't it? Three year? Deal? This year and two more?
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think three more? Is it? Three more? Yeah? I
- 14:31Speaker 1: want to say, I wonder if he's rich? Oh you
- 14:36Speaker 1: know he? Are you serious? Kidding? All right? What else
- 14:40Speaker 1: you got? Do you think the similarity in style play
- 14:42Speaker 1: between Kyrie and Luca as a cause for concern from
- 14:45Speaker 1: mas fans, I must say no, and here's why, because
- 14:47Speaker 1: they weren't getting anywhere but just Luka doing how Luca does.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I would watch Luca play two games a week on Sunday,
- 14:54Speaker 1: ticket package, NBA packet, whatever that whatever the crap I
- 14:56Speaker 1: have on Amazon that the what is that called NBA
- 15:00Speaker 1: big past Lee pass and I watched Luca dominate. But
- 15:04Speaker 1: when Lucas putting up forty, when Jalen Bronson was there,
- 15:07Speaker 1: they could at least go, Okay, Luca is gonna still
- 15:10Speaker 1: play and take off a little bit, but Bronson is
- 15:12Speaker 1: gonna be part of the offense. Bronson can also take
- 15:14Speaker 1: over them not paying him and him going to the Knicks.
- 15:18Speaker 1: That was a bad move retrospect. They weren't gonna go
- 15:21Speaker 1: anything past maybe around in the playoffs with Luca with
- 15:24Speaker 1: only Luca, and he is generational, But think of a
- 15:27Speaker 1: generational player that's been so good and didn't have a
- 15:29Speaker 1: great number two. I mean think about Curry, Yep, Jordan's
- 15:32Speaker 1: yep lebron one titles mostly except for Cleveland and even
- 15:36Speaker 1: then one year. Yeah, I say like kinda. So even
- 15:42Speaker 1: if they do conflict, you still gotta give it a run.
- 15:46Speaker 1: It's one season they weren't gonna do it. This year
- 15:48Speaker 1: they have a shot now that they actually have a
- 15:50Speaker 1: shake up, that could create a spark there. And surely
- 15:53Speaker 1: Kyrie cannot be an idiot for four months, you would think.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I mean, he plays with the ball a lot, he
- 15:58Speaker 1: needs the ball a lot. He's a gut the places
- 16:00Speaker 1: the ball, so does Luca. So to be interesting interesting
- 16:02Speaker 1: to see, um, But I'm gonna say it shouldn't cause concern.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It should actually cause excitement because even if they flare out, Okay,
- 16:09Speaker 1: at least they tried something, and with that team, you
- 16:11Speaker 1: just wanted to try something. What do you think about
- 16:13Speaker 1: that calling? Yeah, I feel like that's Cubans mentality, which
- 16:17Speaker 1: I respect, you know, I mean, that's a controversial guy
- 16:20Speaker 1: in terms of you know, Kyrie hasn't had commitment, it
- 16:23Speaker 1: seems like to a team in quite some time, so
- 16:26Speaker 1: definitely could have made a trade that you know doesn't
- 16:29Speaker 1: pan out. But I get it when you say, hey,
- 16:32Speaker 1: we don't have the talent around Luca to win a championship.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Kyrie gives us that potential. I respect Huban for taking
- 16:38Speaker 1: the risk because otherwise, what are they going to do
- 16:41Speaker 1: this season? Went around. That's probably the ceiling. Now. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: think the ceiling is mentional conference finals that I don't
- 16:49Speaker 1: think they can get to the champion to the NBA Finals.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But maybe Kyrie signs for another couple of years. Would
- 16:55Speaker 1: I just wouldn't want. I just want with Kyrie on
- 16:58Speaker 1: my team in general? Alright, what else you got sitting
- 17:01Speaker 1: at the top of the East for the majority of
- 17:02Speaker 1: the season. Is it inevitable that a Bucks and Celtics
- 17:05Speaker 1: Eastern Conference championship is gonna happen? I don't know, Coleman,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you go for we think at Bucks and Celtics? Is
- 17:10Speaker 1: that in the East? Is that in there? I'm gonna
- 17:12Speaker 1: go no, is my answer, but I'll tell you why.
- 17:14Speaker 1: But Coleman, you go first? Is that inevitable? I don't
- 17:17Speaker 1: think it's inevitable. I'm not gonna um go out on that,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you know, boll claim and say it's inevitable. But I
- 17:23Speaker 1: do think that's what will happen. I know that's taking favorites.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But how the Celtics look so solid right now? Tatum
- 17:30Speaker 1: is just continued to approve, improve and emerge. And then
- 17:33Speaker 1: the Bucks, with your honest it seems like they might
- 17:36Speaker 1: just run the East for a little bit with as
- 17:38Speaker 1: dominant as he can be. I think that and I agree,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and Tatum is now level A plus tire like this
- 17:44Speaker 1: season has been the season where he is now in
- 17:47Speaker 1: that Luca Janice in that category. It's crazy to see
- 17:52Speaker 1: because we've seen him come up very young and kind
- 17:54Speaker 1: of elevate to that slowly. It's kind of been a maturation,
- 17:57Speaker 1: which we don't always get to see that, and then
- 18:00Speaker 1: make the finals and he wasn't quite there it was.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It wasn't quite there last year like at times he was,
- 18:05Speaker 1: he's killing everybody this season, he's watch him, he's just
- 18:08Speaker 1: dominating the only team. Like I saw the Love once
- 18:11Speaker 1: out with the Calves because he's not he's not in
- 18:13Speaker 1: the rotation, so he's like, hey, would you guys let
- 18:15Speaker 1: me go? So I think they're gonna buy him out,
- 18:17Speaker 1: so Kevin Love will leave there. But I think Cleveland
- 18:20Speaker 1: and the Sixers both have those outside shots just based
- 18:24Speaker 1: off talent alone, that they can catch fire. We forget
- 18:27Speaker 1: about stars at times because of headlines of other stars.
- 18:32Speaker 1: But Joel Embiid, I mean's so leg if he's healthy,
- 18:36Speaker 1: he's as good or better than just about everybody except
- 18:39Speaker 1: for maybe honest, and even then he could outplay him
- 18:43Speaker 1: three games of seven um and hardened. I mean, if
- 18:46Speaker 1: he's not fat, what else you got going to a
- 18:51Speaker 1: double A here? After losing two games in a row,
- 18:53Speaker 1: the Tennessee proved they're still a legit contender when they
- 18:56Speaker 1: beat Alabama. So I watched almost the whole game. Alabama
- 18:59Speaker 1: is so good and we talked about this where Alabama,
- 19:01Speaker 1: if they're not hitting outside, it's tough for them to win.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And they were playing in Tennessee, which is a tough
- 19:07Speaker 1: place to play. Have been there many times watching games.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Most time we lose, we go to Tennessee tins. He's
- 19:12Speaker 1: also really good tins. He's also always really good in season. Barnes, though,
- 19:16Speaker 1: chokes on a walnut when it comes to postseason, which
- 19:19Speaker 1: is crazy to me. He did it everyone did in Texas.
- 19:21Speaker 1: He does it in Tennessee. Uh. Tennessee is good. And um,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know Vicaro or whatever his name is. This year
- 19:27Speaker 1: he changes how to say his name. Tennessee is good.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think that they are a contender in winning the
- 19:33Speaker 1: SEC tournament. I think they don't have really the horses
- 19:37Speaker 1: to win the whole thing, but I do think they
- 19:39Speaker 1: can win the SEC Tournament. I think Alabama is still
- 19:42Speaker 1: the team to beat, but it was like it was good.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I mean, they were up by six seven points with
- 19:45Speaker 1: like forty five seconds to go last night. For a
- 19:48Speaker 1: second Alabama pushed and I thought Albama was gonna make
- 19:51Speaker 1: a run because they always make a run. I watch
- 19:53Speaker 1: Alabama Auburn in a couple of days prior, and that's
- 19:55Speaker 1: what they did. They were tied with like four minutes left,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and I got on my map and I was like,
- 19:58Speaker 1: let's go as Auburn plus four when they were tied,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and I was pitty bucks on Auburn plus four. Alabama
- 20:01Speaker 1: one by like twelve, and it was I was like, mother,
- 20:04Speaker 1: so stupid. I haven't turned it on. But yes, Tennessee
- 20:07Speaker 1: is good, they can win the SEC tournament, but Alabama
- 20:10Speaker 1: is still the team. What do you think about that? Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I don't think Tennessee is a national title contender because
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm not falling for what you've mentioned, Bobby, just the
- 20:18Speaker 1: Rick Barnes stuff. Every single year, there a first weekend
- 20:22Speaker 1: exit year after year, no matter if there are two seed,
- 20:24Speaker 1: three seed. They seemed always borowed early. And although they
- 20:28Speaker 1: are elite defensively, that's always the calling card. I worry
- 20:32Speaker 1: that they struggle to score enough points when it matters,
- 20:36Speaker 1: and I don't think they're a true national title contender
- 20:39Speaker 1: because of that final question, Kevin as the consensus number
- 20:42Speaker 1: one conference when it comes to depth, do you think
- 20:44Speaker 1: or would you rather take the Big Twelve or the
- 20:47Speaker 1: field if the tournament started today? So I can take either,
- 20:51Speaker 1: it should just team Okay, so we're talking Kansas, Texas, Baylor.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Basically I was stayed. Yeah, But I mean I'm talking
- 21:01Speaker 1: about teams that I would actually think could do some
- 21:03Speaker 1: damnit out of the Big Twelve. Coleman, let's talk about
- 21:05Speaker 1: this together. Who would who do you think you make
- 21:07Speaker 1: the Sweet sixteen out of the Big twelve? Of all
- 21:10Speaker 1: those schools? Well, see uh To fully answer the question,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I mean, I think that there are four or five
- 21:16Speaker 1: Big Twelve teams that will make the Sweet sixteen. I
- 21:20Speaker 1: would wouldn't be surprised at all if none of them
- 21:23Speaker 1: make the final four. I think in the Big Twelve,
- 21:25Speaker 1: we've got a bunch of good teams, a bunch of
- 21:27Speaker 1: really good teams. I don't think there's a single great team.
- 21:30Speaker 1: If I had to pick one, I think it's Baylor.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Getting cham watch Chewa back healthy is huge for them,
- 21:36Speaker 1: specifically their defense. They're great offensively. If they can start
- 21:39Speaker 1: to turn the corner defensively, I think they're the Big
- 21:42Speaker 1: twelve's best chance. But I think the Big twelves a
- 21:44Speaker 1: bunch of good teams, no great teams. I think that
- 21:47Speaker 1: I would take the field as well. I've watched Kansas.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I've watched Kansas play enough. I watched them get beat
- 21:54Speaker 1: by Kansas State. I've watched them again. They're they don't
- 21:59Speaker 1: even eye tell dominance the I test well coached and
- 22:05Speaker 1: winning games because they're in the right place at the
- 22:08Speaker 1: right time with good shooters, fundamental basketball, but athletically and Coleman,
- 22:13Speaker 1: you can tell me if I'm wrong. They don't look
- 22:14Speaker 1: like a Texas or a Kansas team. Can't. Texas is
- 22:16Speaker 1: so much more athletic than Kansas is. Like when I
- 22:18Speaker 1: watched that in, Texas gets a little sloppy and obviously
- 22:20Speaker 1: the beards out the assistant coaches, now the head coach,
- 22:23Speaker 1: the interim Texas looks like athletes. Like like Texas can
- 22:26Speaker 1: beat anybody at any time, but they're not gonna be
- 22:28Speaker 1: They're not gonna win three games in a row like that. Um,
- 22:31Speaker 1: so I agree. I think Kansas, Texas and Baylor are
- 22:34Speaker 1: probably the three teams out of that conference, and Baylor's
- 22:37Speaker 1: probably if I had to bet the one, but I
- 22:38Speaker 1: wouldn't take the Big twelve over the field, So thank
- 22:41Speaker 1: you very much. That's till Tattle, go for it, stupid,
- 22:52Speaker 1: We're gonna lose coleman age seconds. We have a few
- 22:54Speaker 1: more minutes with them, so I want to go first. Um.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I saw that calling Castleton's out for Florida for the
- 22:58Speaker 1: rest of the regular season broke his hand, which just
- 23:00Speaker 1: he's Florida's whole team. Basically, he's awesome all the way.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Whines like crazy watching it. He just cried. His face
- 23:05Speaker 1: cries even when he's not crying. He's one of those
- 23:07Speaker 1: guys not on your team. Yes, if he's not on
- 23:10Speaker 1: your team, you hate him, But if he's on your team,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you love him. But Castleton out really hurts Florida. Um.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Did you have you watched any of Colling Castleton's game
- 23:18Speaker 1: over the last couple of years? Colman? Oh? Absolutely, I
- 23:21Speaker 1: have loved Collin Collen Castleton's game. I have thought Florida
- 23:25Speaker 1: was going to be better than they've been each of
- 23:27Speaker 1: the last two years. So they've disappointed me a little bit.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But I love Colin Castleton's game. Disappointing that they're gonna
- 23:34Speaker 1: lose him. They were already on the outside looking into
- 23:36Speaker 1: the bubble. Now without him, um, they'll be an I
- 23:40Speaker 1: t bound at best. I saw Coleman tweet this, and
- 23:43Speaker 1: then he's gonna go interview the coach from UT Martin.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So we're gonna let him go. But Coleman said, let's
- 23:47Speaker 1: take a look at what grade the three leading scores
- 23:50Speaker 1: have been on every national team since, which I think
- 23:53Speaker 1: that's your duke on it. And so Coleman, you list
- 23:56Speaker 1: at them, So walk me through this and the point
- 23:58Speaker 1: you're trying to make here. Yeah, So of those eight
- 24:02Speaker 1: team leading scorers to the three leading scorers from the
- 24:04Speaker 1: past six national champions sixteen of them were juniors or seniors.
- 24:09Speaker 1: The other two were sophomores. So I think that just
- 24:12Speaker 1: goes to show it takes a veteran poise team that
- 24:17Speaker 1: can create consistency. We get so caught up in highlights
- 24:21Speaker 1: and teams a plus game. Wow, they blew that team
- 24:23Speaker 1: out by thirty points. They look so great there. If
- 24:26Speaker 1: if we're taking team's best a plus game and crowning
- 24:29Speaker 1: a national champion. Duke would have won the national title
- 24:32Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen. It wouldn't have been close, but they
- 24:35Speaker 1: weren't consistent enough, didn't have that veteran leadership to be
- 24:39Speaker 1: consistent for what it takes to win a national title
- 24:43Speaker 1: and proof in the leading scorers. You've got to have
- 24:45Speaker 1: veteran play guys that have been there before to win
- 24:49Speaker 1: a national title, at least what we've seen in recent history.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Just like this show, young people don't matter, like Coleman. Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 1: you gotta technomy, all right, Hey call him my good
- 25:01Speaker 1: luck with the interview. We'll we'll hear it probably on
- 25:03Speaker 1: Monday show. And are they hooking you up with like seats?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Are you're not paying for tickets anymore? Right? Like we
- 25:08Speaker 1: got you? I? I sure hope so I I don't
- 25:11Speaker 1: think they'll have to? All right? Good. If there's anything
- 25:14Speaker 1: that we can do, it's getting tickets to ut Martin game.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Can I can I venmo him for like popcorn and stuff?
- 25:20Speaker 1: We could actually we can pay for his popcorn. Got you?
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'll get your gatorade? Coleman, Wait, you're near sating, so
- 25:27Speaker 1: there there you t Martin is playing in Where are
- 25:29Speaker 1: they playing? Where are you? I know St. Louis Martin,
- 25:31Speaker 1: but I'm in St. Louis when I'm about to go
- 25:33Speaker 1: to Tennessee Martin. How far has that got it? Oh,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you're leaving. You're leaving to drive. I thought you're like
- 25:38Speaker 1: walking over to an office or something. No, no, yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 1: leaving to drive. Okay, well then leave, I asked Mike.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I said, they're not gonna call him middle of the interview,
- 25:47Speaker 1: be like, you have to leave your hotel room again? Right,
- 25:49Speaker 1: all right, Coleman, have a safe trip, buddy. We'll talk
- 25:51Speaker 1: to you Monday. Thanks, guys, have a good one. All right,
- 25:53Speaker 1: there is Coleman. He'll be back on Monday. I don't
- 25:55Speaker 1: want to mention a couple of other things. And we
- 25:57Speaker 1: have a really good interview with Houston Barber from the
- 25:59Speaker 1: Corner Blow, which is so legit. It's just a guy
- 26:02Speaker 1: like on TikTok. It's awesome interview. I want to get.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's so good. Um. A couple of things. Number one,
- 26:07Speaker 1: you know Aaron Rodgers Darkness Retreat. That's the four day
- 26:09Speaker 1: Darkness Retreat. He goes in, he does whatever he does,
- 26:11Speaker 1: and comes out and has all the answers to the
- 26:14Speaker 1: world solitary Confretty cool? Yeah, pretty cool. I got a
- 26:16Speaker 1: little slide. They slide his food in there, and he
- 26:18Speaker 1: kept to your tray. That's what I imagine. It's like prison.
- 26:21Speaker 1: What would our wives say if we told him we
- 26:23Speaker 1: wanted to go on a four day I was just
- 26:24Speaker 1: thinking about this individually. Wives are and Kevin, you do
- 26:27Speaker 1: your girlfriend? What if you went to your wife and said,
- 26:30Speaker 1: you know, I've been really struggling. I feel like I
- 26:33Speaker 1: need to do four days of darkness. Can you respect that?
- 26:36Speaker 1: What would your wife say? Eddie Man, she let me
- 26:39Speaker 1: go to Pebble Beach for four days, So I would say,
- 26:41Speaker 1: if I time it right and I have the exactly
- 26:45Speaker 1: right thing that I need to say at the right time,
- 26:48Speaker 1: I think she let me do it. She would. Yeah,
- 26:49Speaker 1: My wife's like that, Like, now, would you do it though?
- 26:51Speaker 1: Or would you lie and then just play golf or
- 26:53Speaker 1: something the daytime and just FaceTime her, like you know,
- 26:55Speaker 1: what's nighttime and you're in your room and the TV's
- 26:57Speaker 1: office and you can barely see you you just face
- 26:59Speaker 1: time or from like those set scenarios. Now you're talking, Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 1: because because a dark retreat, like what what is what
- 27:05Speaker 1: is he doing here? Like, we're not going to do that? Yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 1: I think she would. I'll just tell her, you know,
- 27:10Speaker 1: I just need to work on me, get my head straight,
- 27:12Speaker 1: and then she'd be like, Okay, you probably should go.
- 27:14Speaker 1: What do you think you're crazy for four days of darkness? Like? Um,
- 27:18Speaker 1: she probably asked me questions like really you really need
- 27:20Speaker 1: that and have explained it and you're like, oh, yess
- 27:22Speaker 1: if that's what you think you need. I like how
- 27:24Speaker 1: we all have to be like, hey, it's what we need,
- 27:26Speaker 1: right stop spoken about it. I think my wife would say,
- 27:30Speaker 1: you have to listen to a podcast and have lights
- 27:31Speaker 1: on nightlights when you sleep. Why would you want to
- 27:33Speaker 1: go to a darkness retreat? Like what are you really doing?
- 27:35Speaker 1: Going follow in the Arkansas Away Games? I just don't
- 27:39Speaker 1: think she would believe me, Mike, Oh, she would let
- 27:42Speaker 1: me go. I've told my wife recently, even before they
- 27:44Speaker 1: say Aeronautter stuff came out, that I just want to
- 27:46Speaker 1: sit in a room with darkness, nothing around me because
- 27:49Speaker 1: sometimes my brain just gets so like consumed with all
- 27:51Speaker 1: these things we have going on, and I just want
- 27:54Speaker 1: quiet and dark for how long? Though? Because I could
- 27:56Speaker 1: do that for ten minutes. I think you like I
- 28:00Speaker 1: could do it. There we go crazy, Okay, where do
- 28:02Speaker 1: you go? Like bathroom and stuff, like how do you
- 28:06Speaker 1: find it? Like they say, oh, in the darkness treat.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I think you met in my house. No, no, no, no,
- 28:09Speaker 1: the darkness retreat in the room. They're just like toilets
- 28:12Speaker 1: in the corner. Yeah, where is the corner? There have
- 28:14Speaker 1: to be times where he's actually able to see, or
- 28:17Speaker 1: he turns his phone on or something. I'm not saying
- 28:19Speaker 1: to call anybody. There's gonna be a lamp or some okay,
- 28:21Speaker 1: like a night light. Yeah, I don't think they poke
- 28:23Speaker 1: his eyeballs out and he has no access to seeing
- 28:25Speaker 1: at all, because like when I was a kid, I
- 28:26Speaker 1: used to love trying to walk around my house trying
- 28:28Speaker 1: to get from one part of the house to the
- 28:30Speaker 1: other with my eyes closed. I nail a wall. I'd
- 28:32Speaker 1: knock a planner over every single time. So, like, this
- 28:34Speaker 1: could be tough. It's weird and a little bit. He's
- 28:37Speaker 1: probably doesn't for like six hours, but since he's Aaron Rodgers,
- 28:41Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, I miss four days. Okay, Okay, big news,
- 28:46Speaker 1: sad news, but it is news. First of all, the
- 28:50Speaker 1: good news is we're continuing the show. We told you
- 28:52Speaker 1: for six more weeks, so we'll go to the end
- 28:54Speaker 1: of basketball. But then after that, you know, we don't
- 28:56Speaker 1: have a plan to do the show consistently. I think
- 28:59Speaker 1: if something happens in sport, to hop on and do
- 29:02Speaker 1: a little something to talk about it every week and
- 29:05Speaker 1: half or two. I don't know. There's no plan because
- 29:07Speaker 1: we are only doing the show for twenty five episodes
- 29:09Speaker 1: up until the super Bowl, which turned into four over
- 29:11Speaker 1: forty episodes. But then they said, hey, we do six
- 29:14Speaker 1: more weeks to the Yes, yes, yes, But in a
- 29:16Speaker 1: very Loue Garry type situation here, I bring to the
- 29:19Speaker 1: microphone pretty ready, ready, guys, my short career is that?
- 29:25Speaker 1: Is that what it was like here in sports podcasting.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to step down because my plate is
- 29:35Speaker 1: too full, penus too small. Well, I didn't say that.
- 29:38Speaker 1: What's that echo doing. I don't know, man, that's weird. Yeah, man,
- 29:41Speaker 1: I'm quit. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go through March madness,
- 29:45Speaker 1: but I think after I'm gonna step away a little bit.
- 29:47Speaker 1: He's quitting everything. Yeah, not not not the not the
- 29:50Speaker 1: bibone show, his video stuff, has gotten. It's all that work,
- 29:55Speaker 1: and so are you still doing sore Losers. I'm gonna
- 29:57Speaker 1: do sore Losers for a little bit, but then I'm
- 29:58Speaker 1: quitting that too, so when you're walking. So we're doing
- 30:00Speaker 1: this for six if we're not leaving for six weeks,
- 30:02Speaker 1: and then you're done with all sports this and sold Losers. Yes,
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna step away from the sports world. I want
- 30:09Speaker 1: to will never be the same, which I want. You're
- 30:10Speaker 1: gonna pull Tom Brady five. You're coming back? Yeah, I
- 30:14Speaker 1: don't think so. Is that your prediction? Yeah? For sure.
- 30:17Speaker 1: All right, I'll tell you what happened, get like a
- 30:18Speaker 1: month out, and you'll be like, can I be honest?
- 30:21Speaker 1: My wife said me or sports podcasting? Did you pick yourself?
- 30:25Speaker 1: I picked sports podcast and then she said I'm leaving her. Yeah. Yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 1: it's like I'm gonna miss her still. You're going on
- 30:32Speaker 1: a darkness or treat for months that work. Eddie is leaving,
- 30:36Speaker 1: is leaving sports podcasts, Kevin iss with me and you, buddy.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It might producing. Let's do it the trio. Everybody's already
- 30:43Speaker 1: turning it off right now. Good luck, guys. Okay, I
- 30:46Speaker 1: want to go over this interview this is and I
- 30:48Speaker 1: love to have this is such a such a good interview,
- 30:50Speaker 1: mostly because I enjoy them on TikTok. So, this is
- 30:53Speaker 1: Houston Barber from the Corner Blitz here on twenty whistles. Houston,
- 30:58Speaker 1: how are you, buddy? I'm doing great. How are you okay?
- 31:00Speaker 1: So I'm a big fan and uh, just like probably
- 31:03Speaker 1: anybody else has come across your work, Like I just
- 31:05Speaker 1: scroll on TikTok and I watch all your videos and
- 31:08Speaker 1: I told my producer, I was like, we gotta get
- 31:10Speaker 1: this dude on because I think I'm like, you're number
- 31:13Speaker 1: one fan. So I have a lot of questions for you. Um.
- 31:16Speaker 1: First of all, have you had a bunch of interviews
- 31:19Speaker 1: where people going, Hey, Houston, I love you because of
- 31:21Speaker 1: your TikTok You know what. I've done a couple radio shows, Um,
- 31:25Speaker 1: but uh, this is probably like the first podcast that
- 31:28Speaker 1: I've been on, so I'm very excited to talk about it.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You know. I love just like binding random interesting stories
- 31:34Speaker 1: about college football because I think college football is very
- 31:37Speaker 1: unique in the personalities and the weird cultures that just
- 31:41Speaker 1: surround the sport. So just all around the edges of
- 31:45Speaker 1: college football, there's so much fun stuff to talk about that.
- 31:47Speaker 1: You know, an average person who you know watches an
- 31:50Speaker 1: Alabama game on a Saturday may not be aware of
- 31:53Speaker 1: the insanity that's happening, you know, in a small FCS
- 31:57Speaker 1: college in South Carolina, or you know that you know
- 32:00Speaker 1: somewhere I was across the country. You know there there
- 32:03Speaker 1: there's a coach playing uh quarterback because their school ran
- 32:06Speaker 1: out of you know, starting quarterback, so they needed someone
- 32:10Speaker 1: with an extra year of eligibility. So that's the kind
- 32:12Speaker 1: of stuff that I love, and I was talking about it.
- 32:15Speaker 1: So at the corner blitz, I mean, that's his name
- 32:17Speaker 1: on TikTok And what do you have a background? I
- 32:20Speaker 1: think why? I like what you do. Can you just
- 32:22Speaker 1: put your head up there and it's behind you there's
- 32:24Speaker 1: like a screenshot or you know you roll through pictures.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Do you have a background in anything sports related? Because
- 32:33Speaker 1: in the most refreshing way, you don't sound like everybody
- 32:36Speaker 1: else that does well. This this is the honest truth
- 32:39Speaker 1: of how I got into it. So when I first
- 32:41Speaker 1: started dating my now wife and my then girlfriend, you know,
- 32:45Speaker 1: eight or so years ago, she was appalled the amount
- 32:48Speaker 1: of football that I was watching on a Saturday. So
- 32:50Speaker 1: I had to make a deal with her. I was like, listen,
- 32:53Speaker 1: if I can find some way to get paid for
- 32:55Speaker 1: watching football, then this has to be you know, a
- 32:58Speaker 1: happy media and we have to you know that works,
- 32:59Speaker 1: so agree to that. So I started, you know, finding
- 33:02Speaker 1: blogs to write for, and I wrote for Saturday down South.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I wrote, you know, for whoever I could could find
- 33:08Speaker 1: to just try to you know, make some use of
- 33:11Speaker 1: you know, my knowledge with the game and how much
- 33:12Speaker 1: I love college football. And then you know, I started
- 33:16Speaker 1: a TikTok channel and and that gave me the most
- 33:18Speaker 1: freedom to really talk about what I was most interested in,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and you know, I could just post at any time
- 33:23Speaker 1: that I wanted and and that's kind of when I
- 33:25Speaker 1: started to gain a following and build a little mini
- 33:27Speaker 1: community there that that was really fun for me. May
- 33:30Speaker 1: or that community, by the way, they don't. So I
- 33:33Speaker 1: want to talk about a few things here, and this
- 33:35Speaker 1: for the story that you were doing recently. I'm from Arkansas,
- 33:38Speaker 1: so I know about this coach a little bit. But
- 33:39Speaker 1: the Presbyterian College, will you tell all my friends here
- 33:42Speaker 1: and then also the people that listen to this show
- 33:44Speaker 1: kind of why you say that's one of the most
- 33:46Speaker 1: interesting programs in college football. Yeah. Absolutely, so as you said,
- 33:51Speaker 1: this guy Kevin Kelly was high school coaching legend in
- 33:54Speaker 1: Arkansas because he had a philosophy where he would never
- 33:58Speaker 1: punt the football. He would never a kick connextra point,
- 34:00Speaker 1: always go for two. He would always on side kick.
- 34:03Speaker 1: It kind of felt like, you know, uh, if you
- 34:06Speaker 1: turned a football program into like an n f T
- 34:08Speaker 1: or something. It was like Web three point o version
- 34:10Speaker 1: of of a football team. You know, he seemed way,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you know, a hundred years ahead of what everyone else
- 34:15Speaker 1: was doing. You know, when he had support even when
- 34:18Speaker 1: he was in in Arkansas as a high school coach,
- 34:20Speaker 1: people like Bill Belichick, the biggest names in the sport
- 34:23Speaker 1: would drop by and speak to him, and and eventually
- 34:26Speaker 1: he got hired by h an FCS program, Presbyterian College,
- 34:29Speaker 1: and it was a big deal. I think Bill Belichick
- 34:31Speaker 1: actually introduced him at his press conference there. Uh. And
- 34:34Speaker 1: so I was aware of him, and I was following
- 34:37Speaker 1: him closely in his very first game, his very first
- 34:40Speaker 1: ever college football game, where he was keeping that same strategy.
- 34:43Speaker 1: He went out in his he wonts seventy two to nothing.
- 34:46Speaker 1: And so I so I saw that, and I'm like, okay,
- 34:50Speaker 1: you know that this course like that happened in college football.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Sometimes he could just be playing a terrible team. Week two,
- 34:56Speaker 1: he comes out, his team scores ninety points, and so
- 35:00Speaker 1: at this point I'm thinking, you know, I'm thinking, okay,
- 35:03Speaker 1: this guy has figured out. You know, within two years,
- 35:06Speaker 1: every NFL team is going to be doing what this
- 35:08Speaker 1: guy is doing. So that's when I started going all
- 35:10Speaker 1: in on on the corner blitz talking about this guy,
- 35:13Speaker 1: and I would break down his offense and even his
- 35:15Speaker 1: offense he would you know how NFL teams at the
- 35:18Speaker 1: end of games, you know, they would just do like
- 35:19Speaker 1: the twenty later roles too, you know, as a instead
- 35:23Speaker 1: of doing a hail Mary that was like a staple
- 35:25Speaker 1: of his offense, he would throw it to a tight end.
- 35:27Speaker 1: He would pitch into a running back coming out of
- 35:28Speaker 1: the backfield. He would then later rolled across the field
- 35:31Speaker 1: and it would just be like on our first intent
- 35:32Speaker 1: and the fourth, you know, in the first quarter. So
- 35:35Speaker 1: it was a wild team, and so I was very excited.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And Week three he was playing his first conference opponent,
- 35:41Speaker 1: a team called Campbell, and so I was was going
- 35:45Speaker 1: to do a TikTok live during the game. I was
- 35:47Speaker 1: very excited for it, uh and by the end of
- 35:49Speaker 1: the first quarter he was losing forty two to nothing.
- 35:52Speaker 1: He once he started playing common opponents for whatever reason,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you know, they just they couldn't get any points. Teams
- 35:59Speaker 1: would figure out how to do it. And because of
- 36:02Speaker 1: him always going for fourth downs, he wouldn't just lose games.
- 36:06Speaker 1: He would lose games by like forty and fifty points
- 36:08Speaker 1: because it would just be a snowball effect. And by
- 36:10Speaker 1: the end of the year last year, his kids would
- 36:13Speaker 1: be coming up to him and begging to punt the
- 36:15Speaker 1: football and begging to just do a regular kick because
- 36:17Speaker 1: they were, you know, couldn't win a game in conference.
- 36:19Speaker 1: So he ended up leaving Presbyterian last year and heading
- 36:23Speaker 1: back to Arkansas. UM. But I hope, you know, someone
- 36:28Speaker 1: finds a nugget of what he did, you know, and
- 36:30Speaker 1: and expounce on that. And you can see it in
- 36:33Speaker 1: the NFL too. You saw, you know, the Eagles go
- 36:36Speaker 1: for it on you know, any fourth down that's less
- 36:38Speaker 1: than five yards, you know they're going they're going for it.
- 36:40Speaker 1: And I think there's a seed of that now that
- 36:42Speaker 1: that's growing. He won same championships in Arkansas like he
- 36:46Speaker 1: was like a legendary high school, like multiples. So I
- 36:50Speaker 1: I messaged him when he got the job, and the
- 36:53Speaker 1: first two weeks he was done, it was like dang.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But then when he started losing bad, I start messaging
- 36:58Speaker 1: because I don't know. I don't want to jump in
- 37:00Speaker 1: be like, hey, what happened Bundy? But I think you're right,
- 37:03Speaker 1: like there's something there. Maybe it's not you know, full
- 37:07Speaker 1: balls of the wall like he was going all the way,
- 37:09Speaker 1: because you're seeing a lot of these NFL teams and
- 37:11Speaker 1: you're seeing like Staley with the Chargers and a lot
- 37:14Speaker 1: of these NFL guys who are fourth down where sometimes
- 37:18Speaker 1: you go for it. We were kids and never went
- 37:20Speaker 1: for it on four down, all right. It was where
- 37:22Speaker 1: you never went for two. You never So I thought
- 37:24Speaker 1: that was such an interesting TikTok that you did about him.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Did you guys know that story at all? Boom, Welcome
- 37:29Speaker 1: to town. You're moving in, moving into the corner Blitz.
- 37:33Speaker 1: There was a moment in the a f C Championship
- 37:36Speaker 1: game where the Chiefs, and it was in the first
- 37:38Speaker 1: quarter they ran a price by here in college play.
- 37:40Speaker 1: They threw it to Kelsey, who pitched it out to
- 37:42Speaker 1: the running back coming out. I don't think it worked
- 37:44Speaker 1: very well. But I saw that play and I was like,
- 37:46Speaker 1: that's Kevin Kelly, that's Presbyteria in college and that was
- 37:49Speaker 1: a staple of his offense. Crazy. So, do you wanna
- 37:52Speaker 1: talk about Jane Rashota for a second, the recruit who
- 37:54Speaker 1: was supposed to go to Florida and then you know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: he was getting all this money and then they're like,
- 37:58Speaker 1: well you goodness it and then I think the contract
- 38:02Speaker 1: actually I think actually saw part of the contract to
- 38:05Speaker 1: can you just from the beginning kind of let us
- 38:07Speaker 1: know that story. Yeah. So, so Jake Prashada was, you know,
- 38:10Speaker 1: top ten ranked quarterback in the country, you know, as
- 38:12Speaker 1: as typical with those kind of guys, every school in
- 38:14Speaker 1: the country was after him. Uh. He signed with Miami
- 38:17Speaker 1: over the summer, you know, it was kind of one
- 38:20Speaker 1: of their top recruits. Then out of nowhere, in the
- 38:22Speaker 1: middle of the year, he flipped his recruitment to Florida.
- 38:26Speaker 1: He switched to going to Florida, and the rumors was
- 38:30Speaker 1: and we found out later that this was true because
- 38:32Speaker 1: his contract was revealed. He signed a thirteen million dollar
- 38:37Speaker 1: n I L contract with Florida, and I broke down
- 38:39Speaker 1: where he would get five hundred thousand dollars as soon
- 38:42Speaker 1: as he signed the paperwork, and then he would get
- 38:45Speaker 1: every month and like a two hundred seventy five thousand
- 38:47Speaker 1: dollar payment, and that would increase if he stayed there
- 38:50Speaker 1: for all four years to like four hundred thousand dollars
- 38:53Speaker 1: a month. It was, you know, an unbelievable deal that
- 38:56Speaker 1: was bigger than anything UH that college football had seen
- 38:59Speaker 1: up to that point. So fast forward to National signing day. UH,
- 39:03Speaker 1: he's everyone's waiting for him to sign. He hasn't signed yet.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Turns out on National Signing Day he gets a letter
- 39:10Speaker 1: from UH University of Florida and it's they're like, it's
- 39:12Speaker 1: just not not technically University of Florida. It's the booster
- 39:15Speaker 1: group that represents UF. But they tell him that the
- 39:18Speaker 1: contract that he signed as null and void and he's
- 39:20Speaker 1: not gonna be getting any payment. So now this kid
- 39:23Speaker 1: has to decide, am I going to sign with Florida
- 39:27Speaker 1: or you know, for nothing and hopefully we negotiate the contract,
- 39:31Speaker 1: or do I look elsewhere? But it's the eleventh hour
- 39:33Speaker 1: of recruiting. He doesn't really have a lot of other options,
- 39:36Speaker 1: so he decides to sign with Florida, hopefully renegotiate, and
- 39:41Speaker 1: that turns out terribly so within a couple of weeks
- 39:43Speaker 1: he has to request to transfer from UF you know,
- 39:47Speaker 1: two weeks after he signed a scholarship to play for them. Uh.
- 39:50Speaker 1: He then hits the open market. Uh, and he ends
- 39:53Speaker 1: up going to Arizona State. And it was just kind
- 39:56Speaker 1: of a mess all around and shows pretty much the
- 39:58Speaker 1: worst case scenario of the new and i L structure
- 40:01Speaker 1: and kind of what recruiting may look like going forward
- 40:03Speaker 1: in the future. What I saw too, because I will
- 40:07Speaker 1: do in i L deals with players from University of
- 40:09Speaker 1: Arkansas for different I have a TV show I haven't promoted. Also,
- 40:12Speaker 1: I'm trying to obviously be a supporter of the program.
- 40:16Speaker 1: At the same time, I do have them do work
- 40:19Speaker 1: for me, you know, even with like clothes and stuff.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I have them. But what I saw in that contract
- 40:23Speaker 1: for the first time, because except for mine, a lot
- 40:26Speaker 1: of the ANIL stuff is not known. It's just people
- 40:29Speaker 1: talking about a message, more speculating. But what I saw
- 40:32Speaker 1: was that thirteen or whatever the number was, thirteen million
- 40:34Speaker 1: dollar deal was over four years, and there were a
- 40:38Speaker 1: lot of well, you gotta be here for a year
- 40:40Speaker 1: two you gotta be here for your maree. So it
- 40:42Speaker 1: really wasn't a thirteen million dollar guaranteed deal, but it
- 40:46Speaker 1: was if you play all four years and you continue, then,
- 40:49Speaker 1: by the way, it's still a lot of money and awesome,
- 40:50Speaker 1: a lot, But it wasn't like the kid went to
- 40:52Speaker 1: school and got thirteen million, which by the way, went
- 40:53Speaker 1: school go zero million. So so was that the tactic
- 40:57Speaker 1: was that the move by for things that I don't
- 40:59Speaker 1: think it's collective right more than exactly so. And that's
- 41:03Speaker 1: where it gets kind of tricky is because you know,
- 41:06Speaker 1: Florida is not allowed the University of Florida is not
- 41:08Speaker 1: allowed to negotiate with this guy directly. So it's this
- 41:12Speaker 1: third party collective made up of boosters. And so what
- 41:15Speaker 1: people think has happened is that his entire contract, especially
- 41:19Speaker 1: the upfront payment, was being backed by one booster who
- 41:22Speaker 1: at the last second decided he wasn't going to give
- 41:25Speaker 1: that money. And then the other thing with the Rashotta
- 41:27Speaker 1: story too, is that in the summer he was a
- 41:30Speaker 1: top ten ranked prospect. By signing day his he had
- 41:34Speaker 1: dropped to a four star player. He was, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 1: not in the top eighty overall prospects, And so now
- 41:42Speaker 1: you have this guy who you know, is the eighty
- 41:44Speaker 1: five rank prospected and paid millions and millions more than
- 41:48Speaker 1: any other player, you know, and so I think, you know,
- 41:51Speaker 1: they try to find a way to weigh out of
- 41:52Speaker 1: the contract, and you know, but this poor kid who
- 41:55Speaker 1: thinks he's getting life changing money finds out on the
- 41:58Speaker 1: day he's supposed to sign that it all calls through. Yeah,
- 42:00Speaker 1: the fact that he was a four star to me
- 42:02Speaker 1: when I first read it was like, how's a four
- 42:04Speaker 1: star getting this kind of money? But that's what it was.
- 42:06Speaker 1: He wasn't he was a five star quarterback. One final
- 42:10Speaker 1: topic here and something that I've been following. But I
- 42:13Speaker 1: was at the house this weekend and I saw the
- 42:16Speaker 1: blurb pop up that said New Mexico State is suspending
- 42:18Speaker 1: their basketball program. That there have already been some trouble there,
- 42:22Speaker 1: but this was supposedly a different thing. And now I
- 42:24Speaker 1: read that it's hazing and hazing incident. Yeah, I saw
- 42:28Speaker 1: you talk a little bit about this too, So what
- 42:29Speaker 1: do you know about this as of now? Yeah, you know,
- 42:32Speaker 1: it's it's a crazy story. And like you said, New
- 42:34Speaker 1: Mexico State has been involved, you know, with a player
- 42:37Speaker 1: that was involved in a pretty horrible shooting earlier in
- 42:40Speaker 1: the year, and so, you know, when news broken, it
- 42:42Speaker 1: was a late Friday night news dump that not only
- 42:45Speaker 1: you know where they suspending coaches, they were suspending the
- 42:48Speaker 1: entire program, you know, with no date of when you know,
- 42:51Speaker 1: basketball was going to resume and New Mexico State and
- 42:55Speaker 1: we're finding out more information now that it was a
- 42:58Speaker 1: hazing incident and a player who who was a victim
- 43:01Speaker 1: wanted to report the incident but didn't want to get
- 43:04Speaker 1: you didn't want to have any charges pressed against his teammates,
- 43:08Speaker 1: and so, uh, you know, when he spoke to the
- 43:10Speaker 1: university about it, the president and you know, the board
- 43:13Speaker 1: that New Mexico State decided to just suspend the entire
- 43:16Speaker 1: program to kind of get a fresh start. And as
- 43:19Speaker 1: a result, we've already seen a lot of the members
- 43:22Speaker 1: of that team leave, put their name in the transfer portal,
- 43:25Speaker 1: and it looks like they're they're gonna have to basically
- 43:27Speaker 1: start from serres, basically a death penalty if you're New
- 43:30Speaker 1: Mexico State basketball. It was like like balls and but yeah, weird,
- 43:36Speaker 1: like yeah, it's like wow, what like why would you
- 43:39Speaker 1: even do that, like, we're so well, look, here's the thing.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Your TikTok is so good. And you know, we got
- 43:45Speaker 1: a pretty good audience. And listen to this podcast. I'm
- 43:47Speaker 1: if I'm being you know, I'm not gonna be helble.
- 43:48Speaker 1: We got a huge audience. Listen to podcast. Massive podcast.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Um So I hope everybody you go and you follow
- 43:55Speaker 1: the Corner Blitz. It's you do such great work in
- 43:57Speaker 1: a few weeks. I'd love to have you back on
- 43:59Speaker 1: you just about interesting stuff. And I'm a fan and
- 44:03Speaker 1: thank you for your time and keep up the good work. Houston.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'll talk to you. I'm big fan of yours as well,
- 44:07Speaker 1: so I appreciate the time. All right, Houston, see a buddy.
- 44:10Speaker 1: A couple of things I want to mention first, thanks
- 44:12Speaker 1: to Houston, Barbara, go follow him the Corner Blitz. I
- 44:14Speaker 1: think we'll have them on for sure. Number one is
- 44:16Speaker 1: I was gonna talk about Eddie making me lose a
- 44:18Speaker 1: bunch of money. We have this thing we need to
- 44:20Speaker 1: talk about that. Well, you'll see it'll come back around.
- 44:24Speaker 1: We text each other and go, hey, there's a big
- 44:26Speaker 1: favorite that's down right now, which is affecting kind of
- 44:31Speaker 1: the live the end game spread. So let's say Gonzaga
- 44:36Speaker 1: there are twenty point favorite, but halfway through the first
- 44:38Speaker 1: half they're losing by twenty two. So it's like Gonzaga
- 44:43Speaker 1: plus two and we're like, okay, or whatever it is.
- 44:48Speaker 1: If it looks odd, we'll text each other. It's a
- 44:49Speaker 1: no brainer. It's a no brainer. Bet Eddie goes Hey,
- 44:52Speaker 1: Dukes down like eighteen. I'm gonna go bet on that,
- 44:56Speaker 1: just so you know. And I see it and you
- 44:58Speaker 1: have to see it right when it texts and hop
- 44:59Speaker 1: over and I throw eight hundred bucks on Duke plus eighteen.
- 45:03Speaker 1: But what did I say when you send me the
- 45:05Speaker 1: eight hundred dollars? I'm like, what are you? Idiot? Like,
- 45:08Speaker 1: that's not why I texted you. And my words were
- 45:11Speaker 1: very clear. If you're interesting, I'm not mad at you,
- 45:14Speaker 1: not eight But anyway, do lost wars? And that I
- 45:17Speaker 1: lost my money right sucked? So I didn't need to
- 45:20Speaker 1: say much to him. I said, well it sucked. I
- 45:22Speaker 1: think what I said was yeah, and he was like, dang,
- 45:24Speaker 1: that sucks. I was like, yeah, but that's on me.
- 45:27Speaker 1: We tell each other. I bet it, we lost it.
- 45:30Speaker 1: That's on me. Ars was playing a couple weeks ago,
- 45:32Speaker 1: or maybe a couple of games ago, and I was like, hey, dude, Arkansas,
- 45:34Speaker 1: they should win this game, and they lost. I don't
- 45:36Speaker 1: know how much you put on, it doesn't matter, it's
- 45:37Speaker 1: all relative. I put a lot of money down bucks,
- 45:40Speaker 1: that's all. That's a lot of money. So we're even, right,
- 45:47Speaker 1: very even. Luckily for me, I made a bunch of
- 45:50Speaker 1: money at the Super Bowl. I put seventy five bucks
- 45:54Speaker 1: back in my bank account. And I don't ever withdraws.
- 45:56Speaker 1: It's just entertainment to me. I don't try to bet
- 45:57Speaker 1: money to make money. I bet money, and if I do,
- 45:59Speaker 1: that's awesome, and that more to play with. The problem
- 46:01Speaker 1: is I kept, like actually made more than that, and
- 46:04Speaker 1: kept like two thousand in my account just to dick
- 46:07Speaker 1: around with. And so the problem here, and here's the problem.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I lost that eight hundred duke and I was just feeling,
- 46:11Speaker 1: even though doesn't affect because I wanted this money. I'm like, oh,
- 46:14Speaker 1: I still on burning. I gotta burning sensation. And it
- 46:16Speaker 1: also it bothers me about the duke game because the
- 46:18Speaker 1: burning sensation in my butt all the third all right,
- 46:21Speaker 1: And so I was like, okay, I'm gonna, I gotta
- 46:25Speaker 1: I gotta switch this duke stuff around. So last night
- 46:27Speaker 1: Arkansas playing Texas, Texas A and M, and we were
- 46:30Speaker 1: a big dog in Texas A and M. And we
- 46:33Speaker 1: were up, and so I was like, let's just do it.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I had Arkansas like plus one and a half as
- 46:36Speaker 1: we were leading. We were up twelve with like six
- 46:38Speaker 1: minutes ago. We end up losing the game. I watched.
- 46:41Speaker 1: I lost a thousand bucks that line. Never really they
- 46:44Speaker 1: didn't give us a lot of points as the live
- 46:45Speaker 1: went on, even when they were up by twelve or whatever.
- 46:48Speaker 1: I mean it was, it stayed for the most part
- 46:50Speaker 1: at plus one. So I did money line on that one.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I lost on that last night too. Well, I don't
- 46:53Speaker 1: ever abot a thousand bucks, but I got all this
- 46:55Speaker 1: money left from like the super Bowl, which is stupid.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I should just put it all on my account because
- 46:58Speaker 1: I'm like, well, it's there in his house, an why
- 47:00Speaker 1: not just bet it as a thousand bucks on a
- 47:02Speaker 1: regularly in basketball game, which is so stupid to me.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I was wondering what it was at when I watched.
- 47:08Speaker 1: I think they're up twelve a half or whatever too,
- 47:10Speaker 1: And it may have been an even half when I
- 47:12Speaker 1: think whatever it was, yet, I would never bet a
- 47:14Speaker 1: thousand bucks on a random in season basketball game, on
- 47:17Speaker 1: a random super Bowl, but I was like, what's there
- 47:20Speaker 1: and already put in the money. I'll just bet a thoul.
- 47:22Speaker 1: It's just got me. I'm just an idiot. That's where
- 47:24Speaker 1: it gets you. Oh, Kevin Bucks, by the way, I'll
- 47:26Speaker 1: VENMOI before I leave or T just text me you
- 47:29Speaker 1: Kevin one Bucks from the book and the coaches, So
- 47:32Speaker 1: he's got that. Um, given some time, though, dude, you
- 47:35Speaker 1: just lost a lot of money that has nothing to
- 47:37Speaker 1: do with it. And I still have another thousand here
- 47:40Speaker 1: that I'm a head, so I'm good. It's like I
- 47:42Speaker 1: would have never bet it. I should just put in
- 47:44Speaker 1: the bank, which was so stupid to me. So that's
- 47:47Speaker 1: what I want to say. Be responsible. Um, just a
- 47:50Speaker 1: couple other things before we get out of here. Let's see,
- 47:56Speaker 1: I watched the Lakers Pelicans. We record this on Thursday,
- 47:58Speaker 1: Thursday afternoon. It's the Lakers Pelicans last night, and the
- 48:01Speaker 1: Lakers did win the game. I did because I'm very
- 48:04Speaker 1: interested to see what the Lakers do. They're twenty seven
- 48:07Speaker 1: and thirty two now, so there are a couple of games,
- 48:11Speaker 1: I think buying Utah to get that last play in
- 48:14Speaker 1: game seed. But here's what's interesting, because you know they
- 48:16Speaker 1: made the trade where they sent off Westbrook and they
- 48:19Speaker 1: got d'An Angela Russell. You could go through uh Russell
- 48:23Speaker 1: twenty one points. They don't. They didn't have shooters. He
- 48:27Speaker 1: made three or five three pointers, which then gives Lebron
- 48:31Speaker 1: more room. More Bamba and Lebron. It was really cool
- 48:34Speaker 1: to see. I saw a couple of players last night
- 48:36Speaker 1: where Lebron was. He's very unselfish anyway, he loves but
- 48:40Speaker 1: he wasn't able really to be recently because they have
- 48:42Speaker 1: any scores. But it was fun to watch Lebron from
- 48:46Speaker 1: the top throw into bomba throw out to Lebron, Lebron
- 48:50Speaker 1: drive back to It's a nice little pick and roll
- 48:53Speaker 1: with two people that look kind of odd because at
- 48:56Speaker 1: all then and Lebron's like a rock and usually it's
- 49:01Speaker 1: like a look a point guard type person playing with
- 49:03Speaker 1: a four or five when they're but there's I don't
- 49:06Speaker 1: think the Lakers are gonna win it, but I did
- 49:08Speaker 1: bet them. I'm just telling you. I put a hundred
- 49:10Speaker 1: fifty bucks on plus one eighty to make to play
- 49:11Speaker 1: one on a random Wednesday to make the playoffs. Not
- 49:15Speaker 1: your future, yes, just to make it. What are they
- 49:17Speaker 1: right now? Like theyre? I think they're eleven because doesn't
- 49:23Speaker 1: ten the final playing seedy. I think they're eleven. You
- 49:26Speaker 1: may look that up, um, but they're at one eighty
- 49:28Speaker 1: to make the playoffs, and I think they can make
- 49:29Speaker 1: the playoffs. I like what I saw based on last
- 49:33Speaker 1: night against the Pelicans, right, and oh, what are you
- 49:37Speaker 1: sure I didn't see that last night? Yeah, there are
- 49:42Speaker 1: only two games out of the ten though. Maybe that's
- 49:44Speaker 1: what I saw and just assumed it was eleven since
- 49:46Speaker 1: they were that close to it. Whatever, I bet it
- 49:48Speaker 1: plus one eight to make the playoffs. Let's go, let's
- 49:50Speaker 1: go Lakers, um. And then finally, I'll say this announcement
- 49:55Speaker 1: for Monday. I have another announcement, but I'm gonna save
- 49:58Speaker 1: this anything and let it live. We're about to go.
- 50:01Speaker 1: We're sad to see you go. We're here for six
- 50:03Speaker 1: more week before you die. And then I think that's it.
- 50:07Speaker 1: We'll Tiger and make the cut. You guys thinking the
- 50:09Speaker 1: no no, even though Tiger says that he wouldn't be
- 50:13Speaker 1: playing if he didn't think he can win the whole
- 50:14Speaker 1: darn thing. I don't think that's true. Does he walk
- 50:16Speaker 1: with a cane on the course? He uses his putter?
- 50:19Speaker 1: Is that what? Especially when he's walking uphill like that,
- 50:23Speaker 1: And I didn't know if he had a cane with
- 50:24Speaker 1: him that it was his putter. Yeah, I used his club,
- 50:26Speaker 1: especially when he gets out at bunkers. Oh that's tough
- 50:28Speaker 1: to see. Okay, Well, I think we're gonna end there.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Thanks Coleman, who had to leave early. Looking forward to
- 50:35Speaker 1: that interview though. That's that's it's gonna be super cool
- 50:37Speaker 1: for him. Let's be honest. He was just driving around
- 50:39Speaker 1: paying his own money, buying nosebleed seats. But he's one
- 50:44Speaker 1: good on the show, and then two he now identify
- 50:47Speaker 1: tickets and you're going to be coaches for us. Let's go.
- 50:50Speaker 1: That's awesome. Final thought, Eddie, I want to bring some
- 50:53Speaker 1: up to you real quick. So something that made me
- 50:54Speaker 1: really upset last week. I'm the head coach of the
- 50:57Speaker 1: Laker Bones, my son's nine year old beast ball to
- 51:00Speaker 1: which I own, which you are a sponsor. The owner.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Uh Kevin here is the assistant coach, and last week
- 51:07Speaker 1: we were up by twelve points. Seventeen whatever. We're up
- 51:12Speaker 1: by seventeen points at the half, and it's legal in
- 51:15Speaker 1: our league to do a full court press on defense
- 51:19Speaker 1: the second half, not the first half. Second half. We've
- 51:21Speaker 1: seen a lot of success when we do a trap,
- 51:24Speaker 1: you know, in the inbound so I just said, let's
- 51:26Speaker 1: not give in, so you trapp whomever the inbound past
- 51:30Speaker 1: goes to full court? Correct, got it, full court. And
- 51:32Speaker 1: we've seen a lot of success. And I'm like, the
- 51:34Speaker 1: last three games we're on a heater, so I said,
- 51:36Speaker 1: let's go, let's keep it going, keep the intensity going,
- 51:39Speaker 1: let's do a full court trap. Assistant here steps and goes, hey, coach,
- 51:43Speaker 1: I think we should just back up a little bit.
- 51:44Speaker 1: We're up by seven. Team, I got no. I hear
- 51:47Speaker 1: Vikings colts coming up. I said, no, I don't, I don't.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I don't think. So he's like, no, I think we should, like,
- 51:51Speaker 1: you know, let's not rub it in their faces that
- 51:53Speaker 1: we're being in my seventeen points fine, Assistant coach said, so, boys,
- 51:57Speaker 1: forget what I said. Let's just go with get back
- 51:59Speaker 1: pro defense. Don't let him score. They come back and
- 52:03Speaker 1: score ten on us right away. I look at coach
- 52:06Speaker 1: and I'm like, seriously, so I over I hope did
- 52:09Speaker 1: the override and said, all right, back to what I
- 52:10Speaker 1: said initially, full court trap, let's go. We ended up
- 52:13Speaker 1: winning the game. But should I thought they're gonna come
- 52:15Speaker 1: back and win. Should this guy step in and say
- 52:18Speaker 1: that to the head coach? Is that or is that
- 52:20Speaker 1: just straight just disrespectful? I think that's his job, actually,
- 52:24Speaker 1: but it's your job to make the final call. I
- 52:26Speaker 1: think in assistant coach should actually give his input based
- 52:29Speaker 1: on his eyes and ears and also you know his
- 52:33Speaker 1: coaching ethics. You don't want to run up to score
- 52:35Speaker 1: if you really think you're gonna by forty. You't think
- 52:37Speaker 1: I give a crap. I want to kick that team
- 52:39Speaker 1: because you've been losing every game. That's true, that's true.
- 52:42Speaker 1: I felt that. That's very true. But I do think
- 52:44Speaker 1: listen to your assistance is great. I try to listen
- 52:46Speaker 1: to you guys will do the show. I want to
- 52:47Speaker 1: know what you think, what we can do. Yeah, But
- 52:48Speaker 1: then you always go like, stupid idea. Now I don't either.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Sometimes I go most of your ideas are stupid, But
- 52:52Speaker 1: that was not so. Yes, it is his job to
- 52:57Speaker 1: recommend that, and it's your job to finally make the
- 52:59Speaker 1: decision to do it or not. And you did exactly that,
- 53:01Speaker 1: and finally you went, never mind, we're going back to
- 53:02Speaker 1: we're trapping. So in the end you both did right
- 53:05Speaker 1: and you won. We did win. But I like it
- 53:07Speaker 1: that you listened well, I mean it was like all right,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and I don't like it you overruled it once he
- 53:10Speaker 1: wasn't working. He said that he was in that position before,
- 53:13Speaker 1: so he would appreciate it if the team would have
- 53:15Speaker 1: let up a little bit. And so I said, all right, fine,
- 53:17Speaker 1: we'll try it and finally teach your kids to trap better. Yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 1: about thirty So it didn't matter. That's Kevin Mine is.
- 53:24Speaker 1: The NFL is the greatest reality show that we have
- 53:27Speaker 1: right now. Even after the super Bowl, everything goes down
- 53:30Speaker 1: and Juju tweets out on Valentine's Day to Bradberry, Hey,
- 53:35Speaker 1: what is something about holding right forever? Something like that,
- 53:38Speaker 1: and they VAL's card and then you have a J
- 53:41Speaker 1: Brown coming back and everybody, even Patrick Mahomes had to
- 53:44Speaker 1: say something funny. It's just such a great reality show,
- 53:46Speaker 1: the NFL, and I love it. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 53:49Speaker 1: It's it's like they do all the funny Valentine cards
- 53:51Speaker 1: as a kid, and there would be like characters and
- 53:53Speaker 1: be like, I love you all the way to the moon,
- 53:55Speaker 1: and it's like an astronaut dumb. I did watch NFL films.
- 53:59Speaker 1: They're up though the holding call, and the more you
- 54:01Speaker 1: see it from the different angles it was, it was
- 54:04Speaker 1: definitely a holding call, like as soon as he turned,
- 54:07Speaker 1: it was from behind. Actually you can see and he
- 54:09Speaker 1: you call that. If you see it from behind, you
- 54:12Speaker 1: call that ten out of ten times. So we saw
- 54:15Speaker 1: the angle to where at first we were just looking
- 54:17Speaker 1: at the left hand instead of the right. And then
- 54:19Speaker 1: we went back to the beginning of the clip of
- 54:20Speaker 1: the right hand grabs the jersey from behind. You can't
- 54:22Speaker 1: really tell we you can see a little bit the
- 54:23Speaker 1: NFL films version, and again I want a lot of
- 54:26Speaker 1: money off this, so I'm standing by it, so I'm
- 54:27Speaker 1: not even but the NFL film for you do see
- 54:29Speaker 1: him from behind, really grab and if you're that ref,
- 54:32Speaker 1: you throw the flag on that immediately, even if it
- 54:35Speaker 1: was late in the game. It was such a hold.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Thank you. What are you watching? Inside the NFL and scrolling.
- 54:43Speaker 1: NFL Films had posted a clip of it. I wasn't
- 54:45Speaker 1: I didn't Google search NFL. Yeah, they're all those are awesome,
- 54:50Speaker 1: so good. My final thing to say is there's this
- 54:52Speaker 1: app called eighteen Birdies and we use it when we
- 54:55Speaker 1: go off with each other or just in general, and
- 54:57Speaker 1: you and you can see when your friend are golfing.
- 55:01Speaker 1: And I don't really noticed, only follow two people, Eddie
- 55:03Speaker 1: and our friend Gator, who runs the local station. But
- 55:07Speaker 1: all of a sudden, it lights up Gators golfing on
- 55:10Speaker 1: this of course Gator, and I'm like, god, dang, we
- 55:12Speaker 1: had a golf every day. Yeah, and I'm like, what
- 55:15Speaker 1: how's it golf every day? And now now because I
- 55:17Speaker 1: had this appost to get your hit to Gator, like
- 55:18Speaker 1: why why are you golfing so much? I can't believe
- 55:20Speaker 1: why I let you golf as much? I can't believe.
- 55:22Speaker 1: So eighteen berties this appis. It's good, but it's also
- 55:25Speaker 1: frustrating me. I saw Eddie golf on out the other day.
- 55:27Speaker 1: You need to turn those notifications off. I get a
- 55:30Speaker 1: random text on hole too, you golfing today and it
- 55:33Speaker 1: was like and I looked around, I'm like, where is
- 55:35Speaker 1: this guy is? He said, yeah, he was one of
- 55:40Speaker 1: his sons and I was like, okay, good because I
- 55:43Speaker 1: was like, I was like, if you're playing golf on
- 55:46Speaker 1: whatever Saturday or whatever day it was, and you didn't
- 55:48Speaker 1: invite me, I'm to be piste. So he said, it
- 55:51Speaker 1: was I don't even know where were you. Just I
- 55:54Speaker 1: don't want to catch cheating. That's it. Thank you guys, Mike,
- 55:59Speaker 1: anything you want to say. Uh, the only reason I
- 56:01Speaker 1: would ever want to win a Super Bowl is to
- 56:03Speaker 1: go to that celebration that looks awesome. Is to be
- 56:05Speaker 1: on a float the parade drinking looks amazing. Thank you, guys.
- 56:10Speaker 1: That's it. That's that's all I got. Monday, Mike. We'll
- 56:14Speaker 1: see you Monday, all right, by everybody,
